Literary Analysis Of Rome Fever, And Edith Wharton sRoman...
Roman Fever: W, A New Leaf: L Critical literary analysis can be used in many ways: simply to
understand a story s purpose, the story s characters, and many other aspects to understand a story fully.
Critical literary analysis can also be used to try to determine an opinion between two books and their
value as a story. In the case between Roman Fever written by Edith Wharton and F. Scott Fitzgerald s
A New Leaf , Roman Fever is the superior story between the two. After in depth analysis of both
stories, Roman Fever deserves the higher ranking simply because of its literary elements. Roman
Fever written by Edith Wharton has a more complex plot structure than A New Leaf . The plot
structure in a Roman Fever is more complex because it is not simply chronological. The story does
use a chronological structure to describe how long the two characters have been sitting together, and
to further the story, but there are mentions of the past that divert from the chronological order. These
glimpses into the past from the characters, Alida Slade and Grace Ansley, add artistic unity to the
story, meaning that these flashbacks cannot be removed, otherwise the story would not be
comprehendible. The purpose of Roman Fever is not the plot but the characters and their relationship,
and the change and develop of Mrs. Slade and Mrs. Ansley. This alone rank Roman Fever above A
New Leaf because A New Leaf relies heavily on chronological plot structure and the plot to truly drive
the story. The plot also ties in heavily the stereotype of the pattern of three s. Julia rejects both Dick
and Phil twice before accepting them both on the third time. Many of the analysis questions for A New
Leaf focus on the plot rather than anything else, including two about Phil and Dick and plot, 4. What
causes Julia to reject Dick, twice? What in his behavior causes her rejections, and what in her
character causes them? 5. What is the function of Phil Hoffman in the plot? Why does Julia reject him,
and why does she finally marry him? The characters of Roman Fever are dynamic in a literary way
and are the main focus of the story. If the relationship between the two characters, and the characters
themselves, were not made

The Causes Of Teen Pregnancy

Teen Pregnancy
Teen pregnancy is not a subject to take lightly. Being in high school, students are held to high
standards. They are in fact young adults who are trying to build their success to go onto the next step
in life, but just one mistake can ruin everything. Having unprotected sex is the leading cause to
teenagers getting pregnant. Oral contraceptives are recommended if girls are sexually active, but being
on birth control does not give them one hundred percent accuracy of not becoming pregnant.
A problem to teen pregnancies can be unprotected sex, as said in the first paragraph, that is the number
one cause to getting pregnant. When girls and boys become teenagers, their bodies start to develop all
of these hormones, and that is when people start taking the route of having sex. Having sex can be a
huge roller coaster, because not only are they giving themselves away to their partner, they are putting
their own life at risk. Almost 1,700 teen girls get pregnant every single day (Teen Vogue). That is
seventy girls every hour.
Not only can becoming pregnant be hard for the mother, but for the child too. The normal signs that
the teen may be pregnant can be that she misses her period or that she gets morning sickness. Mothers
may experience high blood pressure (hypertension), and they have a higher risk of preeclampsia. This
is a dangerous medical condition that combines high blood pressure

Macro Social Worker
The role of a social worker is to promote the well being of people in diverse environments. The array
of settings which a social worker uses to promote their skills are known as micro, mezzo, and macro.
By utilizing these settings social workers are able to endorse the equal rights, protection,
opportunities, obligations, and social benefits, which is what social justice entails as stated in the
textbook Human Behavior in the Macro Social Environment. Social workers seek to change the lives
of those who are oppressed by providing solutions to the dilemma that lies in front of them. Social
workers play many roles such as identifying if a situation is right or wrong and if something is wrong
how it may become a right. They also counsel in order

Book Of Hosea Essay
The Book of Hosea is a story of God s redeeming love and forgiveness. In this story of the Yahwist
prophet Hosea, the Lord Yahweh is speaking through Hosea. The sexual script of this story follows a
distinct pattern of guilt, punishment, then forgiveness and acceptance. The guilt of Gomer as a harlot
is justified by presenting the subjectivity of females to the judgements of authoritative male figures.
Regardless of the morality or righteousness of Gomer s act, she is belittled and shamed for doing
having sex with several men. The punishment follows as Gomer is stripped of her clothes and shamed
in front of everyone. Yahweh s punishment even goes as far as a miscarrying womb and dry breasts,
removing from women the power of life and procreation. This idea of punishment resonates again
with the male figure having total and complete control over the female in all aspects of her daily
engagements. Lastly we have forgiveness and acceptance. Hosea takes Gomer as his wife, ignoring all
that she has committed in the sight of Yahweh.
Hosea choosing Gomer as his wife considers the sins which she has committed. Hosea chooses Gomer
because he forgives her for her sins. In this script, Hosea is the one validating and criticizing ... Show

This is because the usage of vocabulary words such as faithfulness, righteousness, justice, mercy, and
steadfast love are all implying that Gomer is the opposite of each word. This creates a tone of
belittlement and disrespect towards Gomer and results in the portrayal of women as evil and
dangerous, while men are shown as good and kind individuals. This leads to the purpose of the union
being that women are lost and looking for a male to accept them. This acceptance comes with the
benefit of Hosea offering Gomer safety from all that is evil (harlotry), and again asserting his role as
the dominant force in the union as he is the one that gives Gomer purpose and

International And International Students At Universities
All over most college campuses there is a group of students that commonly get over looked; the
international students. International students make up a good majority of a lot of college campuses.
Statistics have shown that 1,000,000 international students are enrolled at universities in the United
States of America (Migration Policy Institute). I chose to observe a group of international students at
universities, because this is a topic that is of interest to me. Since international students are so
common at universities, they play a big part in our society. It does seem that possibly at times,
international students can get overlooked because at many universities they are in the minority. Even
though there are many differences between non international and international students, we all share
one purpose; to get an education at a university in the United States of America. If an international
student is at a university in America, in most cases you can assume they are there for a purpose. For
international students, they are in a complete different country than their family. Most students would
not do that, unless they have a purpose in doing it. Most international students come to the states to get
better quality education, so they can have a future with better opportunities. People s view on
international students, in most cases would completely depend on the person. It seems that most
people have some level of respect for them considering the sacrifices that they make

My Experience At Bluefield State College
The world consists of many different cultures and ethnicities. One of the bests things about living in
America is getting to see almost every difference first hand even if you do live in Princeton, WV. I
didn t see as many cultural differences until I started to attend college at Bluefield State College. But
that isn t where I met Eduardo Henrique Pereira. We met playing soccer on my old high school s
soccer field one sunny afternoon. He is from San Paulo, Brazil and currently attends Princeton Senior
High School. He is only seven teen years old and has been in America for only nine months. I was
very eager to find out what his hobbies and interests are and just how different Brazil was from
America.
The first topic discussed was holidays. We first talked about how he celebrates Christmas Day. He said
that they all would wake up and eat breakfast together first thing that morning. They would then visit
and begin making lunch shortly after. They made rice, black beans, chicken, cakes, candies, and would
have it with wine. At first when I heard wine I was a bit thrown off guard, but he explained that the
drinking age is eighteen unlike America where it is twenty one. He then proceeded with telling me that
around eight at night they would all sit around the tree and one person will be designated to get the
presents under the tree and call out the name that was on the present much like we do here in America.
I too get up and have breakfast with my family Christmas morning but

Exothersmic And Endothermic Interaction
AlmaOlguin
Period:5
Science Fair Research
In our daily life, we constantly have interactions of chemical reactions, such as endothermic and
exothermic reactions. In general all chemical reactions are important to our society to achieve certain
activities. Some examples are smelting iron, making class, burning fuels, brewing beer, making wine
and cheese, and etc. Most importantly I will be researching what are exothermic and endothermic
reactions and how they can affect our daily life. Chemical reactions is a process when the reactants
convert to products. A reactant is a substance that goes in to a chemical reaction and undergoes change
is a reactant. The final substance of the chemical reaction is the product. A chemical reaction
rearranges the molecular structure of a substance. Substances are either chemical elements or
compounds(Treichel and Kotz). Chemical reactions either result of chemical bonds forming or
breaking. Chemical reactions are distinguished by the following four ways(Shukla). The first way a
chemical reaction is distinguished is the physical state of the reactants and the products to see if all the
substances are in the same physical state or in a different physical state. The two types of chemical
reactions to distinguish the physical state are homogeneous reaction or heterogeneous reaction. The
second way to identify a chemical reaction is the type /nature of the chemical. Some examples are
synthesis reactions,Decomposition reactions,

The Report From Raleigh s News And Observer The Ghost...
The report from Raleigh s News Observer The Ghost of 1898; Wilmington s Race Riot and the Rise of
White Supremacy by Timothy B. Tyson discussed the historical event that is crucial, yet was rarely
spoke of until recent years. On November 10, 1989 Wilmington a majority black populated city as
well as center of African American political and economic success a group of white supremacist
burned down the building the local black newspaper resulting in the killing dozens of black residents,
banishment of successful black leaders as well as their white supporters. The effects of this incident
set path to the further expansion of white supremacy, and to an era of segregation, violence and
repression. One of the main contribution to the success of the Democratic party ruled by white
supremacist was the usage of the press, particularly newspapers, that carry propaganda to push the
campaign in their favor. They exploited the power of the press to demonized black men as rapists who
threatened the pure flower of Southern women (Tyson 7) and as tyrannical demons that threatens the
white race.
Racial superiority of whites was an ideology deeply ingrained, but the Democratic Party understood
that it would be crucial to their campaign to fan [the ember of bigotry] to full flame (6). The major
theme of the campaign became a mission to save white supremacy from Negro domination. Black
men are portrayed as heinous and savage creatures that target the pure image of white women.

Mismanaged layoffs can go horribly wrong. The effect of mismanaged LAYOFFs on the remaining
workforce and the effects, lack of management preparation, the human condition, and lack of
mitigation strategies. We think that the problem with this article is that not enough managers or HR
personal, know how to let a person go from their employment effectively. They sometimes don t
realize the impact that it has on the other employees morals. Also, that sometimes companies don t
take a closer look to make sure downsizing will be the answer to cutting costs like they think that it
will. Every HR or manager should be let go in their lifetime so ... Show more content on

Trying to make a bad situation easier is often more disrespectful than being direct. Firing is something
that is done privately and should be kept confident between the manager and the employee being let
go. If a manager is letting, someone go for the right reasons the example should be evident to the
employees as cause and effect; being held accountable for their actions. If the Manager is abusing
their hiring/firing authority that would affect employee morale; forced silence, uncertainty, etc.
Problem Solutions The options that were covered in the group discussion I feel very informative.
When it comes to releasing someone, whether it is a termination or a layoff, it was discussed if
training for those types of situations would be suitable, or if one could even prepare to carry out
something of that delicate nature. You can train someone how to do anything, but that does not
necessarily mean it will be conducted in the manner it was taught. I think it all highly depends on the
situation and the individual who is delivering the news to the employee. The author s best point is one
of the best solutions; transparency. Managers should allow people the autonomy of reacting, working
through, and coping with a layoff in their own way. Transparency is the most respectful approach that
management can take as it shows them the truth of the situation and explains the steps being taken and
why. I would add rather than trying to find another position within

A Profitable Home Recording Studio For $10,000
Jumping in to starting a business can be scary and investing in a home recording studio is no
exception. There are many things to consider when doing so. How much will it cost? What gear will I
need? What recording jobs will I take on? What will I charge? How will I network and advertise? I
believe that I can open a profitable home studio for $10,000 mixed with my skills and gear that I
already have.
Before I get too in depth I need to discuss some assumptions about the situation. The first assumption
is that I will be a home owner or at least a home renter when I pursue this business venture. If I were

If some of my first few jobs are making demos for bands, I want those demos to be as good as
possible since that is one of my biggest advertisements. So when the band is paying for demo quality
they will get better than demo quality no matter what that takes initially. The last reason is simply to
undercut the competition. Like I mentioned previously there are people in town who have been in the
business for quite a while and are really good. However If I can make recordings close to as good as
they can for a fraction of the cost, I m going to be getting business.
The number one thing that I want to do with my studio is record full length great quality albums for
bands. This may or may not be my bread and butter as far as recording goes but it is what I m most
interested in. The target price that I want to charge for this is $400 for a ten song album. This is
assuming that there will be a six hour block for drum tracking and eight hours total for tracking other
instruments. If I m planning to make $10 an hour this leaves 26 hours for me to edit and mix.
Anything out of the norm will be charged for accordingly. For instance if there are excessive tempo
changes in songs or the band wants to go extreme with layering guitars and vocals. Some pieces of
gear that I will need for this application are an awesome analog compressor, stellar reverbs and good
microphones. Since in owning a home studio I wouldn t likely have a studio drum kit or every mic

Epitaph On A Tyrant
In W.H. Auden s poem Epitaph on a Tyrant is a six line poem with a rhyme scheme of ABBCAC. The
speaker of the poem seems to be talking of the thoughts and actions of a tyrant. Tyrants tend to
exercise their control in a cruel way. The speaker states that this particular tyrant seeks perfection
which could mean that the tyrant believes that their way is the correct way when it comes to running
the nation (Line 1). The mention of armies and fleets is a way that the tyrant shows his power and that
he is not afraid to use force if needed to get their way (Line 4). People would try to appease the tyrant
by agreeing with them. For example, the When he [tyrant] laughed, respectable senators burst with

Constitutional Death Penalty
A question that has been asked since the foundation of our country was made is, Can the death penalty
be considered Constitutional? Thomas Jefferson was known to have written letters with the same
topic. Now only thirty one states, along with the federal government, still believe that the death
penalty is within the boundaries of the Constitution. Twenty executions of the death penalty occurred
last year, 2016, and approximately 1500 have since the 1970s (Pennekamp). The primary argument
against the death penalty is it can be considered as cruel and unusual punishment. The term, cruel and

Hop Frog , written by Edgar Allan Poe, displays the mood of resentment. The first example of this is
shown when the story says, Hop Frog ... had been forcibly carried off from their respective homes in
adjoining provinces, and sent as presents to the king, by one of his ever victorious generals (2). This
passage is important to the mood because it shows us the first event that caused resentment within
Hop Frog. Being carried off away from your home to go serve a foreign and distant king is very hard
to deal with and most likely caused anger within Hop Frog. Another example can be seen when the

Resident Evil 5 Representation
Resident Evil 5, which is known as Biohazard 5 in Japan, is a survival horror video game developed
and published by a digital company named Capcom (Snow, 2008: 1). The game was released on the
5th of March in 2009. The plot of Resident Evil revolves around characters named Chris Redfield the
white middle aged male protagonist and Sheva Alomar the middle aged female character that serves to
support Chris (Snow, 2008: 1). It also revolves around their investigation of a terrorist threat in Kijuju,
which is a fictional region in Africa (Snow, 2008: 1). In this essay, the question of how representation
of the other embodies relations of power is explored using Resident Evil 5 and using Stuart Hall s

representation of the other carries relations of power. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Representation is the act of portraying or depicting something (Merriam Webster s Online Dictionary
2014)). According to Stuart Hall, it means using language to say something meaningful about, or to
present for the second time, the world meaningfully to the other people (Hall, 1997: 259). Hall further
states that there is a fixed connection between power which he defines as the ability to control people
or things, that can radiate from both dominant and the dominated (Hall, 1997: 261) and representation.
In conclusion, Hall s idea is that in the context of representation, the circularity of power is critical. In
Resident Evil 5, a number of things such as the African continent and the people living in it are
represented as the other from the normal western society, which embodies relations of power in a
sense that the power radiates from the normal western society towards the subordinate other, which in
this context is the African continent and its people. When

Analysis Of The Minister s Black Veil By Nathaniel Hawthorne
The short story The Minister s Black Veil by Nathaniel Hawthorne follows the minister Mr. Hooper
whose simple change in appearance alters the very nature of his existence in society till his death.
While his decision to begin to wear a black veil over his face ostracizes him from society, it also turns
him into a more influential clergyman. With the symbolism of the black veil, Hawthorne makes a
statement on the involvement of society in personal matters and the black veil that is present over the
heart of every man, making the point that everyone is guilty of being sinful.
The Minister s Black Veil was first published in 1832 and was written during the American Romantic
time period. Romanticism was a time period where emotion and ... Show more content on

Hooper for his reason for donning the black veil: no attempts were made...to discover the secret which
[the veil] was supposed to hide (6). Hawthorne portrays society s obsession with that which they do
not know for sure or cannot understand. Hawthorne portrays the townspeople in this way to convey
how people can often be involved in matters not concerning them so much so that they often pass
judgements that may not be just. In Mr. Hooper s case, the townspeople are so invested in analyzing
his black veil that they allow themselves to be affected by his veil so much that they fear him and his
veil, and they even avoid him, all the while not considering how they might be wrong as they are not
entirely different from Mr. Hooper. Symbolism is very prominent throughout the entire short story.
The color black typically symbolizes evil, darkness, and sin. The black veil which conceals the
minister s features, with its negative connotation, is representative of sin. The fact that it is a veil,
which traditionally has a purpose is to conceal one s face, implies that the minister s black veil
symbolizes secret sin. Hawthorne uses this symbolism to imply that man is inherently sinful; if a
minister could potentially guilty of sin, so can others. For the townspeople, the black veil has various
possible meanings. While many townspeople guess at its significance‒some of the townspeople

The relationship and interaction between XML and databases
ECET610 UMUC
Abstract
This paper will explore the relationship between XML and databases and the way that they can be
leveraged to provide data exchange on the internet. As XML gains popularity as the format for
exchanging information via the internet and has become the language of choice for use in database
development for Internet use.Introduction
XML is a universal data standard and thereby does not need to be translated for use in different
database systems. This is very important with large corporate data systems. In companies that have
web presence this is a vital concern where some of the data base systems are handled by external
companies that use an entirely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This presents a scalability problem in that when the system contains a few thousand documents the
performance tends to degrade and become a management issue. Synchronization is also a problem
between the non database code and the database. If changes are made to the database structure the
XML pointers need to be updated as well and the system is not very portable.
The XML mapping style of data storage is used by web sites that map user inputs into XML schema
that manages the storage and retrieval of the data as shown in the example Figure 1. This is an
effective method when the existing data is in XML format.
Using XML to simplify processes
The flexibility of XML has made it the standard for the formatting and sharing of data via the web.
XML data is easily transferable across machines and applications and is not constrained by the
operating system of the host machine. This ease of translation enables XML to be transformed into
non XML formats for use with databases and their associated applications.
An XML database is a database that stores the data fields in XML format. This allows for cross
platform transferability and web page presentation. A web application is typically done in three layers
the back office code in Java or a

Irony, Suspense, And Suspense Of A Mystery Novel By Agatha...
How does irony contribute to the overall plot and setting of a mystery novel? There are three types of
irony: verbal irony, situational irony, and dramatic irony. And Then There Were None, the mystery
novel by Agatha Christie, exemplifies situational and dramatic irony. General Macarthur s, William
Blore s, and Emily Brent s death, Vera Claythorne s amusement, and the alias of U.N. Owen all are
instances of irony in the novel. And Then There Were None corroborates the claim that irony creates a
suspenseful and unpredictable plot and setting in mystery novels. To commence, situational irony is
conspicuous throughout this novel in several instances. Situational irony occurs when an event or

The fact that the life preserver is used for murder and the fact that the poem foreshadows horrible fates
among the guests are both pieces of situational irony that enhance the plot and setting of the novel.
Furthermore, dramatic irony is abundantly found throughout And Then There Were None. Dramatic
irony occurs when the readers are aware of a particular event or instance transpiring, however, the
characters are oblivious as it arises. First, dramatic irony is communicated in the beginning of the
book. The novel s characters are invited to Indian Island for various reasons, and the invitations are
signed under the name U.N. Owen , except for Justice Wargrave s letter. After the arrival of all the
characters, they come to what they deem to be the modest realization that none of them have
physically met either of the Owens. Mr. Thomas Rogers, the butler, announces the whereabouts of Mr.
Owen to the rest of the guests: Mr. Owen unfortunately delayed unable to get here till to morrow.
Instructions everything they wanted if they would like to go to their rooms? ... dinner would be at 8 o
clock... (28). No one considers this a salient statement since they are unmindful of the possibility that
U.N. Owen does not exist. This novel exemplifies dramatic irony in this instance since the readers are
aware that U.N. Owen is an alias, but none of the characters are aware that they are being duped and
putting themselves in danger. Also, dramatic irony is discernible

You further begin using techniques that are against your ethics to yield the enemy of hiding

Psychologists have been involved in military interrogations for an extended time. Psychologists have
been used in many different ways in the military, such as questioning detainees, enemy combatants,
and even our own military members to decide whether they would fit into certain career fields. The
current debate on psychologists involved with military interrogations is focused on whether this
activity is violating codes. Many people are arguing the fact that these interrogations can be abusive
towards detainees and unethical while a vast selection of people also agree that many psychologists
stay within their code and regulations and maintain a safe approach. Psychologists have a fine line
when it comes to breaking the guidelines and staying in them. There are many different issues to bring
up on this topic and I will be discussing both point of views related to military interrogations.

This form of consumerism has embedded itself in today s society; where it s encouraged to invest in
such materialistic possessions. Kanye West is an African American rapper, producer, and entrepreneur,
who articulates his struggle with consumerism and the struggle for those around him in his song All

materialism that can be interpreted differently by different listeners such as African Americans and
White Americans.
In the first verse, West introduces a woman who has her problems with materialism. To elaborate on
her condition, Kanye uses a pun by stating:
She s so precious with the peer pressure,

West is trying to elaborate on how buying their way out of jail, suggests that they are free from any

recurring motif in many hip hop songs today. West in his song All Falls Down points out that Material

void can take place through insecurities or any form of traumatic experiences. Every person has such a

Difference Between Civil and Criminal Actions Essay
Civil and Criminal Actions 1 The Differences Between Civil and Criminal Actions Civil and Criminal
Actions 2 Abstract Civil actions protect individuals rather than the public. Civil actions protect the
people, the injury in civil actions is primarily towards the individual, causing no harm to society.
While criminal actions prohibits conduct that causes or threatens the public interest, defines and warns
people of the acts that are subject to criminal punishments, distinguishes between serious and minor
offenses, and imposes punishment to protect society and to satisfy the demands for retribution,
rehabilitation and deterrence. (Lippman, 2007) In this paper, I will discuss the ... Show more content

The differences between civil and criminal actions are that civil actions usually involve private
disputes between people and organizations. While, criminal actions involve an action that is
considered to be harmful to society as a whole. Civil actions generally result in monetary damages or
orders to do or not to do something. Criminal actions have jail time as potential punishments. Civil
actions are proved by lower standards of proof by a preponderance of the evidence. (Lippman, 2007)
Civil liability is considered less blameworthy, punishments are less severe. In criminal actions, crimes
must be proved beyond a reasonable doubt. The primary purpose or function of the criminal law is to
help maintain social order and stability. Criminal actions almost always allow for a trial by jury, in
which the verdict is established by the jury. Civil actions do allow juries in some instances, but many
civil cases will be decided by a judge. A legal action for a civil wrong is brought by the person, rather
than by a state prosecutor. (Lippman, 2007) The purpose of the civil action is to compensate you with
money for your damages as well as physical and emotional injuries you may have suffered during the
incident. The distinction between crime and torts is that crime is a conduct of shown to have taken

The Political And Cultural Unrest Of The Middle East Essay
For over a decade the United States has been entrenched in a war to resolve the political and cultural
unrest in the Middle East. For many, the country of Turkey is the crucible of this region where the
intersections of the main religious and cultural elements collide. Additionally, as a crossroads to
Europe from Asia, Africa and the entire Middle East, Turkey remains an inherently important country
due to its strategic geographic location. The pressures that are exerted on Turkey over the past century
have led many within its borders to question its allegiances and the destiny of the country. Should it
maintain the status quo based on the post WWI political borders or should it pursue a return to times
of the Ottoman Empire when it sat as the seat of power for what many would consider the Caliphate
that presided over those lands at the time? As a strategic crossroads in many aspects, Turkey will
remain important to United States policy in the region.
As the United States Secretary of State, I propose two courses of action (COAs) to aid in the pursuit of
U.S. interests in both Turkey and the region: first, strengthening the military partnership and
enhancing the economic collaboration benefiting the U.S. and Turkey and keeping them on the path of
western style democracy with close ties with the United States; second, using diplomacy and
information to increase Turkey s participation with western organizations and highlight the benefits of
the partnerships while also

the sky chief sent his son down to earth, where there was no light at night... Now since all of you are
all five I have to tell you the story my chief told me forty years ago when I was your age. Now lets
begin, Long ago, before you and I were born, the sky chief ordered his son down to earth, where there
was no light at night. The sky chief s son was named Lusio which means light. Lusio s job was to find
something that would light the sky up. The great fireball in the sky only lit up the sky for half of the
day. At night, the fireball went away and the sky turned dull and black like the fur of all the black

her way down she asked the birds flying her down if they have seen anything lighting up but they said
that they are asleep when everything glows at night. Learning from her brothers mistakes she asked a
rabbit that was hopping around, Do you know where to find something that is capable of lighting up
the night sky? The rabbit replied, You should try to find an owl. They are awake at night and can tell
you what lights up. Hakidonmuya went on a search for an owl that took her all around the world just

Interracial Adoption Essay
Interracial Adoption There are millions of children without parents in this world. This number is
growing fast due to the fact that many parents might not be able to take care of their child or they put
the child up for adoption. Many people know that interracial adoptions have become more popular.
The biggest problem is many people think parents looking for a child should only be able to adopt a
child of the same race. This does not matter as long as they can raise the child like it is their own, give
it the love it needs and raise it to their best ability. Interracial adoptions should be allowed because
many children want a happy home and family and to live a happy life. Interracial adoptions go way
back starting in the 1950 s. It all started with white children being up for adoption, but with World War
II ending many war children were getting put up for adoption and the number increased. Jaegoo Lee
states In the year 1995, the number of interracial adoptions was about 1,000 but in 2001 it went up to
8,000 children (Lee 122). That is a 7,000 difference in number of children adopted in just six years. In
2011 over 9,319 children were adopted internationally into the U.S. from China and South Africa (Lee
122). During a vast period of interracial adoptions, they were reaching up to 45,000 children being
adopted but today it has dropped dramatically. Many countries opened up to placing children abroad,
but now they have closed again; these countries include Russia, China, and countries in eastern
Europe and Africa (Bartholet 22). Some countries like China make people pay a fee of $3000 $5000
for a child. Many people have argued to have a systematic tax on adoption so parents adopting would
have to send a few thousand dollars per adoption to support families in sending countries (Bartholet).
When parents are looking to adopt a child the adoption facility looks at their records. They make sure
that they can provide for the child and themselves. They also make sure they do not come from a bad
background. They also make sure the parents will love the child as if it was their own and always
show the child they love them. They will make sure the child knows that the adoptive parents love
them (Bartholet).

The artist would then decorate the pot by firstly creating an outline of their image with a sharp tool
and then painting with a clay slip; this is a watery clay substance. The clay slip would have been
painted to this entire object, but only the outlines of the images, in order for the images to remain
terracotta. The object would then have been placed into a kiln, it would have been fired to ensure the
object turned a bright terracotta the pots were heated in the kiln, and oxygen combined with iron in the
clay to turn the whole pot a reddish colour (Hughes and Perkins, 2012 Approaches, pg 166) the next
stage would be that the potter closes the vents on the kiln to cut the supply of oxygen and turn the
whole object black, also the increase in temperature would make the clay slip harden and become
shiny. Then the potter would open the vents to reintroduce oxygen again, the object would then turn
back to terracotta, apart from the hardened, shiny slip. Around the time this Calyx Krater would have
been created, in Greece objects like this would have been used for liquids such as wine, water or oil, it
may have been used to pour from or to drink from. This object could have been used at festivals,
gatherings or celebrations, but equally may have been used for many other purposes, just like we use
many modern objects today such as a decorative vase today, may be used for flowers, but could also

The Triple Bottom Line Model
The Triple Bottom Line
Introduction
A triple bottom line model never merely quantifies an accomplishment or rather the wellbeing of a
company through its conventional monetary bottom line. However, triple bottom line similarly
measures social, ethical as well as environment performance of the company. Triple bottom line
typically is an incessant process that shall assist the company in concentrating into the performance of

As people become more used to watching televison on demand without adverts or with less adverts,
companies are looking for new ways to market their products. They have come up with the idea of
integration where a brand or service is shown in a film. The recent James Bond film Skyfall included
integration of the brands Aston Martin, Audi, Aurora, Caterpillar, CNN, Coca Cola Zero, Heineken,
Jaguar, Range Rover, Royal Doulton, Sony, Scrabble and Omega amongst others. Integration has
always been there, but is now on the increase. Filmmakers may be expected to increasingly work
around these brands which will have to feature in the film, a practice which threatens artistic integrity.
However with funding platform sites such as Kickstarter this can be kept to a minimum.
Networked society is also having a positive impact on the creative discipline of dance, from first spark
of an idea to when it is viewed by the public. An example of the positive impacts that the rise in
networked society is having on different creative disciplines can be seen in how web video is
increasing global innovation in dance. Due to people posting videos online dance has been changing
hugely. Jonathan Chu explains this phenomenon,
Dancers have created a whole global

Multimodal Pain Management Essay
Multimodal pain management strategy using liposomal bupivacaine (EXPERAL) in Knee
Arthroplasty for better postsurgical analgesic outcome and economic benefits.
Abstract
When Orthopedist considers which analgesia to use after Total knee arthroplasty
(TKA), the primary objective is to relieve pain with fewer adverse side effects.
Over the last decade significant efforts have been made to improve pain control following TKA, but it
is still very challenging to get full optimal control with fewer adverse sides effects. Current modalities
in use, such as opioids, epidurals and FNB, provide substantial pain relief, but they are associated with
significant side effects and serious complications. The aim of our study is to determine the

Over recent years, data from several clinical studies and hospital records have highlighted the extent
of the postoperative pain that is experienced by many patients who undergo knee replacement surgery
18. It has now been clearly demonstrated that inadequate management of perioperative pain can be
associated with a wide range of undesirable effects including slower rehabilitation, delayed return to
activities of daily living, increased financial costs, unnecessary care burdens for families, and
progression to a persistent pain state 19 22. The progression of postoperative pain despite use of
current pain modalities require us to have an ongoing search for ways in which to reduce
postoperative pain, improve functionality and reduce morbidity without increasing the incidence of
analgesic related adverse effects.

1. How much is the Bet Performer worth based on comparable transactions? What ship is the best
reference transaction? (the closest comparable)? Comparable transaction is a conventional method of
evaluating the value of something that is ready for sale. To value a ship, one had to identify a set of
comparable ships where comparability was based on four main factors: ship type, size (DWT), age,
and condition. The Bet Performer was a 11 year old ship, built in 1997, 172,000 DWT capsize bulk
carrier. From the Exhibit 4, there are five ships which are the most comparable to Bet Performer. They
are Martha Verity, Ingenious, Sumihou, Cape Sun, and Coppersmith. These ships all have the most

This is logical because, larger the ships, more load could they carry, and thus make higher profits, so
are priced higher. Relationship between Age and Ship Price: From the regression, we find that as the
ship ages by one year, the price of the ship drops by $ 4.54 mln. This makes sense because as with any
other vehicle or asset, the efficiency of the ship drops with age. As it gets older, the carrying value of
the ship lowers due to depreciation. Relationship between Charter rates and Ship Price: With one point
increase in the Capesize ship index, there is a slight increase in the price of the ship by $0.007 mln.
The Capesize ships took like a year to build, and are good for 25 years, after which they are
demolished and sold for scrap. The economics of this ship breaking differed by ship size and type
category. So higher this index, higher is the price of the ship. b. Can you think of other factors that
might predict ship prices? Apart from the 4 factors ship type, DWT, ship age and gears, there are a
couple of other factors which affect the ship price. They are Type of main engine, Confirmed time
charter contracts with creditworthy counter parties Loading equipment (cranes and derricks) Shipyard
(original builder) Location (where the ship was at the time of sale) All these affected the price of the

The Face-Negotiation Theory and Stella Ting-Toomey Essay
In the world of communication, there are many theories which describe different ways people
communicate. According to Doctor Thomas Hanitzsch, an associate professor of communication at the
University of Munich in Germany, Communication Theory is an international forum publishing high
quality, original research into the theoretical development of communication from across a wide array
of disciplines ( Communication Theory ). A specific communication theory that will be highlighted is
the Face Negotiation theory developed by Stella Ting Toomey. Simply stated, Dr. Ting Toomey

Some additional information includes, that according to Stella Ting Toomey s Home on the Web, Dr.
Ting Toomey has held major leadership roles in international communication associations and has
served on more than fifteen editorial boards ( Stella ). To further explain the theory of Face
Negotiation, when Dr. Ting Toomey suggests conflict is a consequence of identity management on an
individual and cultural level, she means that culture has a significant impact in regards to identity
management. One s culture has defined rules as to how someone is to properly interact amongst other
individuals and groups, and these rules include values, norms, beliefs and traditions. Generally, an
individual would strive to adhere and follow all of their culture s rules, and in turn, would view
another individual turning against those rules as a threat to their overall culture or beliefs. Similarly,
Dr. Ting Toomey states that conflict can come from a clash of these rules, a misinterpretation, or as a
result of misapplying certain expectations and standards for behavior for a given situation (Griffin List
). The Face Negotiation theory suggests there are three goals that any conflict will revolve around;
content, relational and identity, or rather, needs, interests or goals. Based on M. Afzalur Rahim s work,
Dr. Ting Toomey and later John Oetzel, identified eight distinct responses to conflicting situations
based on an incompatibility (Griffin

Transcendentalist
Transcendentalism and Christianity Have Incompatible Beliefs
Transcendentalism is a group of new ideas in literature, religion, culture, and philosophy that emerged
in the early to middle 19th century (Wikipedia). Transcendentalism first started with Ralph Waldo
Emerson, one of the pioneers of the Transcendentalists, who in his essay Nature , criticized several
things, especially the Unitarian church (Wikipedia). Many other Transcendentalists such as Thomas
Parker, Henry David Thoreau, Amos Bronson Alcott, and James Freeman Clark, along with Emerson,
were critics of their society because they didn t like the fact that people had unthinking conformity
(Stanford 1). Transcendentalists work to make the world better through social ... Show more content

This means that God occupies the first place in their beliefs; therefore, they will never put God and
nature in the same unity as Transcendentalists do. A last incompatible belief about God between
Transcendentalists and Christians is that Transcendentalists believe that human beings can become
like God, that they can grow a resemblance to God (Stanford 2). Christians do not have the same point
of view about that because, for them, God is perfect and the creator of everything, including humans
(Certificate 2). So, logically, there is no way that humans could achieve the perfection of their creator.
The incompatible beliefs about God make the two doctrines even more incompatible because
Transcendentalists don t see God as powerful as Christians do. The last area where the beliefs of
Transcendentalists and Christians are incompatible is about the Bible. The Bible or Holy Scriptures
contains the Old and New Testaments which are the written words of God and Christians believe
strongly in it. They say that it was given by God and contains his knowledge which is the basis of
Christian s theology (Certificate 2). But Transcendentalists don t like the idea of putting theology
between people and God (Gentry). They believe that people can by themselves know more about God
or the truth in general (Lewis). This is incompatible with the Christians beliefs about the truth found in
the Bible. Another reason why Transcendentalist and Christian beliefs about the

  • 2. Literary Analysis Of Rome Fever, And Edith Wharton sRoman... Roman Fever: W, A New Leaf: L Critical literary analysis can be used in many ways: simply to understand a story s purpose, the story s characters, and many other aspects to understand a story fully. Critical literary analysis can also be used to try to determine an opinion between two books and their value as a story. In the case between Roman Fever written by Edith Wharton and F. Scott Fitzgerald s A New Leaf , Roman Fever is the superior story between the two. After in depth analysis of both stories, Roman Fever deserves the higher ranking simply because of its literary elements. Roman Fever written by Edith Wharton has a more complex plot structure than A New Leaf . The plot structure in a Roman Fever is more complex because it is not simply chronological. The story does use a chronological structure to describe how long the two characters have been sitting together, and to further the story, but there are mentions of the past that divert from the chronological order. These glimpses into the past from the characters, Alida Slade and Grace Ansley, add artistic unity to the story, meaning that these flashbacks cannot be removed, otherwise the story would not be comprehendible. The purpose of Roman Fever is not the plot but the characters and their relationship, and the change and develop of Mrs. Slade and Mrs. Ansley. This alone rank Roman Fever above A New Leaf because A New Leaf relies heavily on chronological plot structure and the plot to truly drive the story. The plot also ties in heavily the stereotype of the pattern of three s. Julia rejects both Dick and Phil twice before accepting them both on the third time. Many of the analysis questions for A New Leaf focus on the plot rather than anything else, including two about Phil and Dick and plot, 4. What causes Julia to reject Dick, twice? What in his behavior causes her rejections, and what in her character causes them? 5. What is the function of Phil Hoffman in the plot? Why does Julia reject him, and why does she finally marry him? The characters of Roman Fever are dynamic in a literary way and are the main focus of the story. If the relationship between the two characters, and the characters themselves, were not made ... • 3. The Causes Of Teen Pregnancy Haden Womble Mrs. Gallos English 3 21 November 2017 Teen Pregnancy Teen pregnancy is not a subject to take lightly. Being in high school, students are held to high standards. They are in fact young adults who are trying to build their success to go onto the next step in life, but just one mistake can ruin everything. Having unprotected sex is the leading cause to teenagers getting pregnant. Oral contraceptives are recommended if girls are sexually active, but being on birth control does not give them one hundred percent accuracy of not becoming pregnant. A problem to teen pregnancies can be unprotected sex, as said in the first paragraph, that is the number one cause to getting pregnant. When girls and boys become teenagers, their bodies start to develop all of these hormones, and that is when people start taking the route of having sex. Having sex can be a huge roller coaster, because not only are they giving themselves away to their partner, they are putting their own life at risk. Almost 1,700 teen girls get pregnant every single day (Teen Vogue). That is seventy girls every hour. Not only can becoming pregnant be hard for the mother, but for the child too. The normal signs that the teen may be pregnant can be that she misses her period or that she gets morning sickness. Mothers may experience high blood pressure (hypertension), and they have a higher risk of preeclampsia. This is a dangerous medical condition that combines high blood pressure ... • 4. Macro Social Worker The role of a social worker is to promote the well being of people in diverse environments. The array of settings which a social worker uses to promote their skills are known as micro, mezzo, and macro. By utilizing these settings social workers are able to endorse the equal rights, protection, opportunities, obligations, and social benefits, which is what social justice entails as stated in the textbook Human Behavior in the Macro Social Environment. Social workers seek to change the lives of those who are oppressed by providing solutions to the dilemma that lies in front of them. Social workers play many roles such as identifying if a situation is right or wrong and if something is wrong how it may become a right. They also counsel in order ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Book Of Hosea Essay The Book of Hosea is a story of God s redeeming love and forgiveness. In this story of the Yahwist prophet Hosea, the Lord Yahweh is speaking through Hosea. The sexual script of this story follows a distinct pattern of guilt, punishment, then forgiveness and acceptance. The guilt of Gomer as a harlot is justified by presenting the subjectivity of females to the judgements of authoritative male figures. Regardless of the morality or righteousness of Gomer s act, she is belittled and shamed for doing having sex with several men. The punishment follows as Gomer is stripped of her clothes and shamed in front of everyone. Yahweh s punishment even goes as far as a miscarrying womb and dry breasts, removing from women the power of life and procreation. This idea of punishment resonates again with the male figure having total and complete control over the female in all aspects of her daily engagements. Lastly we have forgiveness and acceptance. Hosea takes Gomer as his wife, ignoring all that she has committed in the sight of Yahweh. Hosea choosing Gomer as his wife considers the sins which she has committed. Hosea chooses Gomer because he forgives her for her sins. In this script, Hosea is the one validating and criticizing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is because the usage of vocabulary words such as faithfulness, righteousness, justice, mercy, and steadfast love are all implying that Gomer is the opposite of each word. This creates a tone of belittlement and disrespect towards Gomer and results in the portrayal of women as evil and dangerous, while men are shown as good and kind individuals. This leads to the purpose of the union being that women are lost and looking for a male to accept them. This acceptance comes with the benefit of Hosea offering Gomer safety from all that is evil (harlotry), and again asserting his role as the dominant force in the union as he is the one that gives Gomer purpose and ... • 6. International And International Students At Universities All over most college campuses there is a group of students that commonly get over looked; the international students. International students make up a good majority of a lot of college campuses. Statistics have shown that 1,000,000 international students are enrolled at universities in the United States of America (Migration Policy Institute). I chose to observe a group of international students at universities, because this is a topic that is of interest to me. Since international students are so common at universities, they play a big part in our society. It does seem that possibly at times, international students can get overlooked because at many universities they are in the minority. Even though there are many differences between non international and international students, we all share one purpose; to get an education at a university in the United States of America. If an international student is at a university in America, in most cases you can assume they are there for a purpose. For international students, they are in a complete different country than their family. Most students would not do that, unless they have a purpose in doing it. Most international students come to the states to get better quality education, so they can have a future with better opportunities. People s view on international students, in most cases would completely depend on the person. It seems that most people have some level of respect for them considering the sacrifices that they make ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. My Experience At Bluefield State College The world consists of many different cultures and ethnicities. One of the bests things about living in America is getting to see almost every difference first hand even if you do live in Princeton, WV. I didn t see as many cultural differences until I started to attend college at Bluefield State College. But that isn t where I met Eduardo Henrique Pereira. We met playing soccer on my old high school s soccer field one sunny afternoon. He is from San Paulo, Brazil and currently attends Princeton Senior High School. He is only seven teen years old and has been in America for only nine months. I was very eager to find out what his hobbies and interests are and just how different Brazil was from America. The first topic discussed was holidays. We first talked about how he celebrates Christmas Day. He said that they all would wake up and eat breakfast together first thing that morning. They would then visit and begin making lunch shortly after. They made rice, black beans, chicken, cakes, candies, and would have it with wine. At first when I heard wine I was a bit thrown off guard, but he explained that the drinking age is eighteen unlike America where it is twenty one. He then proceeded with telling me that around eight at night they would all sit around the tree and one person will be designated to get the presents under the tree and call out the name that was on the present much like we do here in America. I too get up and have breakfast with my family Christmas morning but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Exothersmic And Endothermic Interaction AlmaOlguin Period:5 Science Fair Research In our daily life, we constantly have interactions of chemical reactions, such as endothermic and exothermic reactions. In general all chemical reactions are important to our society to achieve certain activities. Some examples are smelting iron, making class, burning fuels, brewing beer, making wine and cheese, and etc. Most importantly I will be researching what are exothermic and endothermic reactions and how they can affect our daily life. Chemical reactions is a process when the reactants convert to products. A reactant is a substance that goes in to a chemical reaction and undergoes change is a reactant. The final substance of the chemical reaction is the product. A chemical reaction rearranges the molecular structure of a substance. Substances are either chemical elements or compounds(Treichel and Kotz). Chemical reactions either result of chemical bonds forming or breaking. Chemical reactions are distinguished by the following four ways(Shukla). The first way a chemical reaction is distinguished is the physical state of the reactants and the products to see if all the substances are in the same physical state or in a different physical state. The two types of chemical reactions to distinguish the physical state are homogeneous reaction or heterogeneous reaction. The second way to identify a chemical reaction is the type /nature of the chemical. Some examples are synthesis reactions,Decomposition reactions, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Report From Raleigh s News And Observer The Ghost... The report from Raleigh s News Observer The Ghost of 1898; Wilmington s Race Riot and the Rise of White Supremacy by Timothy B. Tyson discussed the historical event that is crucial, yet was rarely spoke of until recent years. On November 10, 1989 Wilmington a majority black populated city as well as center of African American political and economic success a group of white supremacist burned down the building the local black newspaper resulting in the killing dozens of black residents, banishment of successful black leaders as well as their white supporters. The effects of this incident set path to the further expansion of white supremacy, and to an era of segregation, violence and repression. One of the main contribution to the success of the Democratic party ruled by white supremacist was the usage of the press, particularly newspapers, that carry propaganda to push the campaign in their favor. They exploited the power of the press to demonized black men as rapists who threatened the pure flower of Southern women (Tyson 7) and as tyrannical demons that threatens the white race. Racial superiority of whites was an ideology deeply ingrained, but the Democratic Party understood that it would be crucial to their campaign to fan [the ember of bigotry] to full flame (6). The major theme of the campaign became a mission to save white supremacy from Negro domination. Black men are portrayed as heinous and savage creatures that target the pure image of white women. ... • 11. Re organization and Layoff Team Discussion Summary Essay Re organization and Layoff Team Discussion Summary Team B PHL/320 2/23/2015 Wayne Moore Mismanaged layoffs can go horribly wrong. The effect of mismanaged LAYOFFs on the remaining workforce and the effects, lack of management preparation, the human condition, and lack of mitigation strategies. We think that the problem with this article is that not enough managers or HR personal, know how to let a person go from their employment effectively. They sometimes don t realize the impact that it has on the other employees morals. Also, that sometimes companies don t take a closer look to make sure downsizing will be the answer to cutting costs like they think that it will. Every HR or manager should be let go in their lifetime so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Trying to make a bad situation easier is often more disrespectful than being direct. Firing is something that is done privately and should be kept confident between the manager and the employee being let go. If a manager is letting, someone go for the right reasons the example should be evident to the employees as cause and effect; being held accountable for their actions. If the Manager is abusing their hiring/firing authority that would affect employee morale; forced silence, uncertainty, etc. Problem Solutions The options that were covered in the group discussion I feel very informative. When it comes to releasing someone, whether it is a termination or a layoff, it was discussed if training for those types of situations would be suitable, or if one could even prepare to carry out something of that delicate nature. You can train someone how to do anything, but that does not necessarily mean it will be conducted in the manner it was taught. I think it all highly depends on the situation and the individual who is delivering the news to the employee. The author s best point is one of the best solutions; transparency. Managers should allow people the autonomy of reacting, working through, and coping with a layoff in their own way. Transparency is the most respectful approach that management can take as it shows them the truth of the situation and explains the steps being taken and why. I would add rather than trying to find another position within ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

So when the band is paying for demo quality they will get better than demo quality no matter what that takes initially. The last reason is simply to undercut the competition. Like I mentioned previously there are people in town who have been in the business for quite a while and are really good. However If I can make recordings close to as good as they can for a fraction of the cost, I m going to be getting business. The number one thing that I want to do with my studio is record full length great quality albums for bands. This may or may not be my bread and butter as far as recording goes but it is what I m most interested in. The target price that I want to charge for this is $400 for a ten song album. This is assuming that there will be a six hour block for drum tracking and eight hours total for tracking other instruments. If I m planning to make $10 an hour this leaves 26 hours for me to edit and mix. Anything out of the norm will be charged for accordingly. For instance if there are excessive tempo changes in songs or the band wants to go extreme with layering guitars and vocals. The speaker of the poem seems to be talking of the thoughts and actions of a tyrant. Tyrants tend to exercise their control in a cruel way. The speaker states that this particular tyrant seeks perfection which could mean that the tyrant believes that their way is the correct way when it comes to running the nation (Line 1). The mention of armies and fleets is a way that the tyrant shows his power and that he is not afraid to use force if needed to get their way (Line 4). Analysis Of The Minister s Black Veil By Nathaniel Hawthorne The short story The Minister s Black Veil by Nathaniel Hawthorne follows the minister Mr. Hooper whose simple change in appearance alters the very nature of his existence in society till his death. While his decision to begin to wear a black veil over his face ostracizes him from society, it also turns him into a more influential clergyman. With the symbolism of the black veil, Hawthorne makes a statement on the involvement of society in personal matters and the black veil that is present over the heart of every man, making the point that everyone is guilty of being sinful. Hawthorne portrays society s obsession with that which they do not know for sure or cannot understand. Hawthorne portrays the townspeople in this way to convey how people can often be involved in matters not concerning them so much so that they often pass judgements that may not be just. In Mr. Hooper s case, the townspeople are so invested in analyzing his black veil that they allow themselves to be affected by his veil so much that they fear him and his veil, and they even avoid him, all the while not considering how they might be wrong as they are not entirely different from Mr. Hooper. Symbolism is very prominent throughout the entire short story. The color black typically symbolizes evil, darkness, and sin. The black veil which conceals the minister s features, with its negative connotation, is representative of sin. The fact that it is a veil, which traditionally has a purpose is to conceal one s face, implies that the minister s black veil symbolizes secret sin. There are three types of irony: verbal irony, situational irony, and dramatic irony. And Then There Were None, the mystery novel by Agatha Christie, exemplifies situational and dramatic irony. For many, the country of Turkey is the crucible of this region where the intersections of the main religious and cultural elements collide. Additionally, as a crossroads to Europe from Asia, Africa and the entire Middle East, Turkey remains an inherently important country due to its strategic geographic location. • 26. Interracial Adoption Essay Interracial Adoption There are millions of children without parents in this world. This number is growing fast due to the fact that many parents might not be able to take care of their child or they put the child up for adoption. Many people know that interracial adoptions have become more popular. The biggest problem is many people think parents looking for a child should only be able to adopt a child of the same race. This does not matter as long as they can raise the child like it is their own, give it the love it needs and raise it to their best ability. Interracial adoptions should be allowed because many children want a happy home and family and to live a happy life. Interracial adoptions go way back starting in the 1950 s. It all started with white children being up for adoption, but with World War II ending many war children were getting put up for adoption and the number increased. Jaegoo Lee states In the year 1995, the number of interracial adoptions was about 1,000 but in 2001 it went up to 8,000 children (Lee 122). That is a 7,000 difference in number of children adopted in just six years. In 2011 over 9,319 children were adopted internationally into the U.S. from China and South Africa (Lee 122). During a vast period of interracial adoptions, they were reaching up to 45,000 children being adopted but today it has dropped dramatically. Many countries opened up to placing children abroad, but now they have closed again; these countries include Russia, China, and countries in eastern Europe and Africa (Bartholet 22). Some countries like China make people pay a fee of $3000 $5000 for a child. Many people have argued to have a systematic tax on adoption so parents adopting would have to send a few thousand dollars per adoption to support families in sending countries (Bartholet). When parents are looking to adopt a child the adoption facility looks at their records. They make sure that they can provide for the child and themselves. They also make sure they do not come from a bad background. They also make sure the parents will love the child as if it was their own and always show the child they love them. The Face Negotiation theory suggests there are three goals that any conflict will revolve around; content, relational and identity, or rather, needs, interests or goals. Based on M. Transcendentalist Transcendentalism and Christianity Have Incompatible Beliefs Transcendentalism is a group of new ideas in literature, religion, culture, and philosophy that emerged in the early to middle 19th century (Wikipedia). Transcendentalism first started with Ralph Waldo Emerson, one of the pioneers of the Transcendentalists, who in his essay Nature , criticized several things, especially the Unitarian church (Wikipedia). Many other Transcendentalists such as Thomas Parker, Henry David Thoreau, Amos Bronson Alcott, and James Freeman Clark, along with Emerson, were critics of their society because they didn t like the fact that people had unthinking conformity (Stanford 1). This means that God occupies the first place in their beliefs; therefore, they will never put God and nature in the same unity as Transcendentalists do. A last incompatible belief about God between Transcendentalists and Christians is that Transcendentalists believe that human beings can become like God, that they can grow a resemblance to God (Stanford 2). Christians do not have the same point of view about that because, for them, God is perfect and the creator of everything, including humans (Certificate 2). So, logically, there is no way that humans could achieve the perfection of their creator. The incompatible beliefs about God make the two doctrines even more incompatible because Transcendentalists don t see God as powerful as Christians do. The last area where the beliefs of Transcendentalists and Christians are incompatible is about the Bible. The Bible or Holy Scriptures contains the Old and New Testaments which are the written words of God and Christians believe strongly in it. They say that it was given by God and contains his knowledge which is the basis of Christian s theology (Certificate 2). But Transcendentalists don t like the idea of putting theology between people and God (Gentry). They believe that people can by themselves know more about God or the truth in general (Lewis). This is incompatible with the Christians beliefs about the truth found in the Bible. Another reason why Transcendentalist and Christian beliefs about the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
