2. Reflection Paper On Rmsel Family
Greetings fellow RMSEL civilians, I am Dinara for those who didn t know me. And today, I
would like to talk about our little RMSEL community. Our RMSEL community is wonderful, it
is full of compassion, comfort, social acceptance, you name it. I have always dreamed of a little
world with all of these components, and here I am today in that little world; my dream has come
true. But, there is always going to be a problem in this little world that we all live in, and that
problem is that we can get sad pretty easily. That sadness can get carried off to others all around
us, it becomes contagious and dreadful, we can get all these different kinds of emotions just
from this sadness. And sometimes our little community falls apart just because of that vile,
cancerous sadness. As RMSEL citizens, we have to get rid of this sadness, we have to overcome
this sadness before it is too late. When I first came to RMSEL in 6th grade, I felt uncomfortable
with my surrounding others. I didn t recognize anyone s faces and I didn t feel welcomed. But, I
didn t give up, I came to this school because I wanted to achieve in becoming a better person. So I
tried to make myself comfortable with the school s system, I asked questions to the students on
how the system is like for this school. They gave me answers, and I became more and more aware
of the school. The students told me everything, but usually in a traditional school, the explanation

3. Executive Compensation Essay
Accounting Theory Assignment
Executive Compensation
[pic]
Introduction
Executive compensation together with corporate governance systems has received an increasing
amount of attention from the press, corporations, financial academics and also the government. An
executive compensation plan is a major application of the agency theory study and, thus, an agency
contract between the shareholders and CEO s of the business, which attempt to align the interests
of the owners and the managers by basing the CEO s or executive s compensation on some
performance measure of the managers expended effort in operating the organization. Over the last
decade scandals such as the Enron and WorldCom have raised many issues and discussion as...

The sensitivity of a compensation plan to net income can be achieved by moving to a current value
accounting system, thereby reducing recognition lag. This will result in more payoffs from the
manager s effort in the current period. However current value accounting reduces the precision of
the information, which means there is less importance for net income in compensation.
On the other hand, share price is more sensitive that net income sooner to certain events such as
acquisitions and mergers or R D. This sensitivity makes share price a better device for calculating
compensation. Share price however is not as precise as net income since it can be affected by
events such as changes in the economy s interest rates or terrorist attacks that has nothing to do with
manager effort.
An alternative approach to increasing sensitivity in net income is to ensure full disclosure,
especially concerning unusual and non recurring items. Full disclosure makes it more difficult for
managers to shirk by choice of accounting policies and enables the committee to evaluate manager
effort and ability as well as earnings persistence.
Persistent earnings are a more sensitive measure of current manager effort then price irrelevant
earnings, which may arise independently of effort. Compensation committees tend to value
persistent earnings when they are setting manager compensation.
The compensation committee can adjust the relative proportions of the net income based and share

4. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Pydimethylsiloxane
Polydimethylsiloxane is a silicone based polymer which is commonly used in huge flexible
electronics applications due to its unique properties such as optically clear, inert to chemical
compounds, and good mechanical strength when compared to the existing flexible substrate.
PDMS are the most preferred substarte due to its ease of processing and its biocompatibility
(Peterson et al. 2005; Ostuni et al. 2000; De Silva et al.2004; Tan et al. 2003; du Roure et al.
2005). (Abel L. Thangawng et al 2007). The mechanical strength of the PDMS is directly
proportional to the amount of cross linking agent integrated into the polymer. Increasing the
concentration of cross linker increases the mechanical strength of the PDMS and makes the PDMS

Jasbir N. Patel et al 2008 developed a flexible glucose sensor using PDMS layers sandwiched
between the gold electrodes. Due to unique advantages such as optically transparent, flexible and
bio compatible it finds a role as implantable sensors. The size of the sensor is about 2 mm x 3 mm
with a thickness of 700 Вµm. The PDMS based glucose sensor is economical and easy to fabricate
and shows a linear response.
Anjali Khatri et al 2013 proposed a micro molded U shaped PDMS optical waveguide for
biosensing applications using soft lithography technique. Due to its low refractive index contrast
compared to SU 8 in the sensing region, it finds lot of application in biosensing. They reported
that PDMS based waveguides were exhibits five fold more sensitive than SU 8. Ease of
fabrication, high sensitivity and mechanical robustness of PDMS finds a promising and versatile

5. What Are The Similarities Between Lying And Bullshit
One of the most salient features of our culture is that there is so much bullshit. (Frankfurt). This
statement truly defines the current situation of our life. I have developed a decent interest in this
topic because we are surrounded by it and the majority of people don t recognize it. There have
been a lot of difficulties in understanding this topic as there are no particular theory has been given
to this topic. According to Frankfurt bullshitis unavoidable at conditions in which we expect
somebody to talk without recognizing what he is discussing. Therefore, the production of bullshit
is based on the opportunities that an individual have to express more on a particular topic than his
knowledge on the particular topic. We are going to talk about the similarities and differences
between lying and bullshit. We will also discuss that which one is more harmful to the society and
why, we are also going to discuss about some of the questions that are related to bullshitting in our
life and discuss why we are not doing anything about it or it is just a human tendency.
Lying is the practice of communicating lies and there are many similarities between lying and
bullshit. First the main aim of liars and bullshitters are that they both want the other person to
believe that they are telling the truth. Secondly they both want to get away with the situation which
led them to tell a lie or bullshit. But there is a great difference between lying and bullshitting. The

/introduction to hadoop/ The MapReduce system handles the processing through a master
process whose function is to orchestrate the processing, manage the process of grouping records

and has interfaces to Java and Python. The MapReduce was developed by Google but there are
some open source implementations, among which stands out the Hadoop (Hadoop 2010). The
Hadoop is a framework of free code in Java to run applications that manipulate large amounts of
data in distributed environments. The Hadoop is composed by the file system HDFS (Hadoop
Distributed File System) and a parallel execution environment. Within this environment, or better,
the Hadoop framework, several subprojects can be found, such as the implementation of
MapReduce, the distributed data management system called HBase, data flow language r and
structure for parallel execution called Pig. The main characteristics of the Hadoop are:
distributed storage systems, file partitioned into large blocks is distributed on the nodes of the
system, blocks replicated to handle hardware failure and a location for temporary data. Unlike
other approaches to distributed file systems, the storage and processing of HDFS is done at each
node of the system. Thus, using the Hadoop or MapReduce is relatively easy for a computer

7. Essay Salmonella and Enteritis or Systemic Diseases
Salmonella
Introduction
Salmonella is known as a gram negative, rod shaped bacillus. It is a facultative anaerobe in the
family Enterobacteriaceae (Todar). There are more than 1,000 known types of Salmonella, with
ranging levels of toxicity (Jones), accounting for 60% of all bacterial diseases (Curtello).
Salmonellosis has affected over 1.4 million people per year in the United States, including more
than 500 fatal cases (Jones). This organism has a wide host range with abilities to attack both
animals and humans (Tartakow). Salmonella s main habitat is in the intestinal tracts of warm
blooded animals (Jones). It best grows at a temperature between 5 and 47 degrees Celsius (Pui).

Since it has such a long incubation period, this suggests that Salmonella typhimurium is able to
avoid detection by the host immune system early in the course of infection (Helene). The non host
adapted Salmonella cause very diverse typhoid like symptoms and is most common cause for
foodborne infections (Todar). Gastroenteritis is characterized by a sudden onset of fever,
abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, and dehydration. Diarrhea is a result of secretions of fluids by
the small and large intestines. These symptoms are caused by acute inflammatory responses given
off by the bacteria within the intestine (Giannella). In extreme cases S. typhimurium could affect
respiratory, central nervous or cardiovascular systems causing things like pneumonia and
meningitis. The severity of symptoms depends on the type, amount ingested, a person s age, and
susceptibility to illnesses. Elderly people and young children are the most vulnerable to symptoms
of Salmonellosis. Symptoms can begin to appear anywhere between six and forty eight hours and
can last three days or even three weeks.
Septicemia is another form of the manifestation of Salmonella in the body. This is known as the
intermediate stage of the infection and does not cause intestinal symptoms. Also, the bacteria are
unable to be eradicated from the fecal matter secreted by an infected host. The harshness of the
specific infection is dependent on the endurance of the patient

The second part of the book that I found enjoyable was the more serious topics Vonnegut touched
upon. The purpose, as stated in the first chapter, was to write a book about Dresden. I had never
previously known about this city existing much less that it was destroyed by allied troops. One
would think that with two years of history classes from that era in time, we would have heard it
mentioned at least once. That was his entire point, thousands of people died and nobody even talks
about it. He did not want to address the actual bombing as an event though, he more so wanted to
show the effect it had on the soldiers. Slaughterhouse 5 is really anti war sentiments based upon

within his poem. This makes the theme of the poem universal to all people. Hides our cheeks is
significant because facial cheeks are a good way of showing emotion, such as blushing (2).
Blushing could show embarrassment, and lifting of the cheeks could indicate a smile. So hiding
ones cheeks would be an efficient way of concealing emotions. The author shades our eyes
because eyes are thought to be the peepholes into a persons thoughts and feelings (2). This debt
we pay to human guile (3). This obligation we feel to hide our emotions is due to the slyness of
our human nature. People constantly feel as though they have to hide their pain and sorrows
from the eyes of others. With torn and bleeding hearts we smile (5). The author points out no
matter how much emotional pain a person might be in, they still smile their biggest to hide the
agony. We smile, but, O great Christ, our cries/ To thee from tortured souls arise (10 11). Dunbar
emphasizes the fact that while smiling, people are silently crying to God. They are praying for a
release from the torture they endure every single day. We sing, but oh the clay is vile (12). Singing

international community. His continued badgering with the international community, eventually

President Rouhani has so far shown promise to ease the country s relations and assume a solution
on the nuclear issue. For Washington, meanwhile, the election offered stark confirmation that its
strategy is working, at least to a point. The outcome confirmed that political will for a nuclear deal
exists within the Islamic Republic. In other words, the path out of isolation and economic crisis is
perilous, but Iran s new president, who has sometimes been dubbed the sheikh of diplomacy, may
just be the right man at the right moment to walk it. (Maloney, 2013)
If President Rouhani can bring his country out of sanctions, resume oil exports and trade, they can
become a functioning country again. Although, there is a slim chance that Iran doesn t continue to

President Rouhani remains president, it is expected that he will do as much as possible to continue
to further his country and bring them out of isolation with the world and specifically the west.

Kody Scott grew up in South Central L.A. during the nineteen sixties and seventies, soon after the

mother, Kody Scott led the stereotypical ghetto life, a poor and broken home. However he does not
blame this on his own personal decision to join the Crips while only eleven year s old. The allure
of the respect and glory that bangers got, along with the unity of the set (name for the specific gang)

unity, he realized that the Afrikan race as a whole along with his newfound responsibility to his
family(wife and kids), was more important than the set , and that he would now leave the set and
the gang life. However this was no easy task, as most who attempt to leave the set don t succeed
or die trying. It took him a whole three years to leave the Crips. He now, however, unlike before,
realized that a banging was wrong for more than just the black on black crime and such, but that
it was a matter of morals and family, and he now no longer took pride in his past actions, but still
took responsibility for them(page 357). Once out of prison again, he was now out of the set and

Moving takes a lot of work, both physically and emotionally. It can be a very trying time, even for

17. Of The American Dream And The Wordy Shipmates
American Dreams Lit. Analysis The American dream exists within the minds of individuals, who
live in communities.
We can interpret the ideas of that dream based on the communities themselves. In The Wordy
Shipmates, we follow John Winthrop, Roger Williams and Anne Hutchinson and learn their idea of,
and path to the American Dream. In Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl we get to know Harriet s
struggles and how she ultimately achieves her American Dream. In both books, we find out that
achieving the American Dream is much more difficult without the help of family, friends and the
community. I think that both books highlight that sometimes to achieve your dreams you must be
willing to take risks and leave behind what s holding you back. Winthrop and the Puritans left
everything they knew to start the life they wanted to have. Harriet left behind her family and
friends to leave a bad situation and find freedom. The Puritans in Wordy Shipmates have a very
important place in American History.
Winthrop s ideas of Christianity and sticking together as a community helped shape how
America is today. The Puritans even went as far as having their seal from England depicting an

Title: How is the time it takes ice cream to freeze affected when the amount of Sodium
Chloride(salt) added to the ice used to freeze the ice cream is changed?
Purpose
The purpose of the experiment is to see how the freezing process of ice cream is affected when
different amounts of Sodium Chloride are added on the ice that is used to freeze it.
Background Information
The three most common states of matter are solid, liquid and gas. When a person has made ice
cream, the ingredients go from a liquid to a solid state which is called freezing. In the liquid state,
the substance s molecules are the most loosely packed of the three states of matter and have no
definite volume. Because of this, they will usually take the shape of whatever container they are
put into. The solid state however is the complete opposite. In this state, the molecules are tightly
packed and are unable to move around freely. (Classifications of Matter) ... Show more content on

In order to freeze the ice cream must reach a little below the freezing point of ice, which is 32

where a liquid transition into a solid. That s where salt come into play. Salt does something
called freezing point deprivation. Freezing point deprivation is when the freezing point of a
solvent is lowered when a solute is added to it. In this case salt is being added to ice. A common
example of freezing point deprivation in real life would be when salt is added to the roads right
before it snows. Assuming the temperature is around 32 degrees Fahrenheit, the salt lowers the

within his own home. In the end he like Hajid Murad, Peter made the final sacrifice for what they
believed in was right and died.
Later in the book, Tolstoy wants to show us how these two cultures differ, so he writes how
Hajid Murad is welcomed to the palace of Prince Voronstov. There is a celebration and many
women dancers are dancing in front of Hajid Murad, with exposed breasts. During and after the
celebration most of the men walk up to Hajid Murad and ask him how he enjoyed it, he replies to
them by saying, We have a proverb; the dog gave meat to an ass, and the ass gave hay to the dog,
and both went hungry. (pg 117 paragraph 7). This shows us the difference between the two cultures.
The quote states that what one culture, in this case the Russian, views as necessary the other does
not need and does not fair any better then it would with out it.

21. The Impact Of Financial Crisis On The Uk Economy
Executive summary
The financial crisis 2007/08 led to the fact that some large financial institutions were under threat
to collapse and had to be bailed out by the government to avoid a total meltdown of the financial
system. The financial crisis was triggered by a combination of factors; some of them were the
lack of regulations and supervision, excessive leverage practice, insufficient liquidity provision and
a lack of adequate capital holdings by the banks. This report will focus on two different concepts
bank s capital and liquidity, explaining the importance of both for banks, how they link and
interact with each other, and the risks banks could face in case of any potential shortfalls in these
key areas. A shortfall in one of these... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Basel III proposals by Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS) specified minimum
capital and liquidity requirements that should reduce chances of banking crises in the future.
However, meeting these standard requirements can reduce banks profitability and entail additional

Capital and liquidity
A bank s capital can be defined as shareholder equity, retained earnings and reserves, or bank s
own funds, and together with bank s liabilities, or borrowed funds they provide funding for bank
s assets. This includes financial, tangible and intangible assets. Due to the nature of business
most of bank s assets are secured and unsecured loans to individuals and businesses and lending
in the wholesale market. Whether it is a secured or unsecured loan, there is always a risk, known
as the credit risk that the borrower will not be able to repay the amount borrowed, which can cause
losses to the bank. The main characteristic of capital is the ability to

The Azuay stub foot toad, native to South America and thought to be extinct, was recently found to
be extant in Ecuadorian Mountain Forests. The species, which was once predicted to be abundant,
was thought to have been extinguished mainly in part by the chytid fungus, a fungus which is
decreasing the population of many other amphibian species as well. According to the information
provided by the article, the Azuay is not the first to be re found after thought extinction. Scientists
are still unsure about the species survival however, in which conservation methods will be needed.

Pollinator An organism that spreads pollen throughout plants.
Fragment A small piece of a pre existing object. Reflection:
What I found most interesting about the article was how different the Montsechia vidalii is from
the flowers we know today. Although the plant does bear resemblance to some plants today, many
aspects of the plant have evolved overtime. For example, the plants had genders, and did not have
petals. This is sets it apart from today s plants, and also shows how 130 million years of evolution
can both do a great amount, but at the same time a small amount. Although the changes are
somewhat large, such as the removal of, they are tiny in comparison to other evolutionary changes,
which could have taken even longer. Questions:
How much does the Montsechia vidalii resembler, the coontail, resemble the original flower?
How were the scientists able to confirm that the plant had different genders?
How were the seeds of the flower spread from lake to lake? Was it the work of a

24. Reflection About Relationships
In the two years we have been together, my boyfriend, Andy, and I never talked about what we
considered cheating to be. This past July, I found out that he had spent the night in his car with
one of my closests friends, and his ex girlfriend. I had told him in the past that I was not
comfortable with him being out with a girl late at night, but never fully elaborated on it. Realizing
that he had done something I wasn t comfortable with, he told me he was up late playing Halo, and
kept his outing from me for almost a month. Since we had never laid our boundaries, there were no
boundaries to break. Personally, I view cheating as doing something you would not tell your
significant other about, but he sees it as having intimate relations with someone other than your
significant other. He saw it as him doing something wrong and apologized for it, but felt that it was
nowhere near cheating. Our disagreement stems from the differences between our beliefs and
expectations for each other.
In our relationship, my boyfriend had never done anything for me to lack a sense of trust. He let
me know where he was, even when I did not want to know, and always tried his best to keep in
contact with me. When it came to me spending time with the opposite sex, he was always
comfortable with the idea which is why he thought I felt the same. He had complete trust in me and
never minded the time or the place. Growing up, his father had an intimate relationship with another
woman, so to him, that was

25. The Characteristics Of Child-Directed Speech ( CDS )
Talking to children has always been fundamental to language development, but new research
reveals that the way we talk to children is key to building their ability to understand and create
sentences of their own. The exaggerated speech we naturally use with young children is a special
register often called motherese (Medical Xpress , 2011). Moreover, child directed speech (CDS)
plays an important role in language acquisitionbecause while modifying and adjusting speech to a
child, this keeps their attention and meets the needs of providing understanding to the young
addressee.
Child directed speech (CDS), also referred to as infant directed speech (IDS) or motherese is a
speech register that is characterized by pitch and intonation, slower speech rates with pauses in
between words, shorter simple sentences and frequent repetition (O Brien, 2017). Moreover, the
role child directed speech (CDS) plays in language acquisition is that it modifies and adjusts
speech directed to children and keeps their attention as well as meets the needs of providing
understanding to the young addressee (Clarke, p. 45).
This paper will examine the cultural variations embedded in child directed speech (CDS) and how
the characteristics of child directed speech (CDS) differ cross culturally. Specifically, this essay
will show evidence of cultural variation from several case studies by focusing on the differences
and similarities in prosodic characteristics within child directed speech (CDS)

27. John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men And Our Day Out
In this essay I am going to compare and contrast the theme of social deprivation in Of Mice and
Men and Our Day Out. John Steinbeck, writer of Of Mice and Men lived in California in 1930 s
and the novel was written in the time of the Great Depression in America. As a result the people
were in poverty. The reason why there was a great depression was unemployment and stock
market crash. The novel is about two itinerant workers having a dream about buying a farm.
Social deprivation was conspicuous during this time in America and also suffering from
economic decline which is exemplified through George and Lennie, who are looking their own
place to live. On the other hand, in Our Day Out the play was written in 1970s in Liverpool.
During this time Liverpool s economy was also falling because there was high unemployment.
Willy Russell illustrates this through poverty through Carol on the play. Steinbeck shows In Of
Mice and Men that the character George and Lennie are penniless. For example, it says Guys
like us, that work on ranches, are the loneliest guys in the world. They got no family. They don t
belong no place This shows us that they are poor because they work on the farm and George
says that we don t have any families or a place to live. This link to the Great Depression in
America because people were in poverty and unemployment, so it is very difficult to get money.
Similarly, in Our Day Out we know the children are very poor. For example, it says Ronny, the

28. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Biometrics
One major disadvantage of usual authentication techniques, they can t confirm that the demand
identification of user is from the legal owner [11]. Therefore, there was a need for a kind of
technique that can t be forgotten or lost and can identify users based on their unique characteristic
[37]. Biometric is an automated method for easily verifying and recognizing the identity of a living
person based on his physiological or behavioral. Biometricsare excellent candidates for providing an
extra level of security, especially when used in conjunction with traditional methods for
authentication [10].
Generally, most biometric based authentication systems consist of two phases, Enrolment Phase and
Verification Phase Figure 5. In the Enrolment/ Training Phase, users deal with different kind of
sensors depends on the kind of biometric used for authentication system. Those biometric sensors
scan and capture the repeated user s basic login data till finishing the system number of training
sessions for specific number of time to train the system. After that the feature extractor extracts the
features from the scanned biometric data using an algorithm. The feature vector used for
generating a template for each user of the system. This template is encrypted using the public key
obtained from cloud server then send back to cloud server to be stored in the template database for
later use.

29. A Brief Note On Fair Dealing And Fair Use
A recurrent theme evident throughout copyright literature is the comparison between fair dealing
and fair use. These provisions allow for additional rights to be awarded to users for educational or
research purposes. Their meaning and scope are defined by different legal systems, thus are not
synonymous terms. Fair dealingis a legal term pertaining to common law jurisdictions. It is used to
establish whether the use of a copyrightmaterial is lawful or whether it infringes copyright. With
research or private study as a central requirement, a two part test must be carried out with the
purpose, the character, the amount, the alternatives, the nature, and the effects of the dealing taken
into consideration. The introduction of the fair usemodel, with different elements to the US
doctrine, is highlighted by the Modernising Copyright Report 2013. With recent worldwide trends
moving to a fair use doctrine, there are many advocates promoting the method, considering it a
highly flexible way of enabling use of copyright works without infringement. Universities Australia,
in its submission to the ALRC discussion paper, believed the replacement of fair dealing
exceptions with fair use would enable academics to use copyright material in more advantageous
ways currently afforded to the US. Fair Tidmarsh also reach favourable conclusions, noting that it
would allow copyright works to be used in a way consistent with the greater public interest of

However, children must understand when they say a word, the word is made up on many sounds
that have blended as it was spoken (Tompkins, 2010).
Phonic awareness helps to build a strong reading foundation for students because it is the child s
ability to understand that words are created with different sounds such as can. The word can is the
blended sounds of /c/, /a/, and /n/. There are many strategies available that teachers can use to teach
phonemic awareness to students which include the following: 1. Teach students to identify the
sounds within the words 2. Place words in categorizing sounds 3. Teach students to substitute
sounds as students make new words 4. Teach students to blend sounds to make new words, and 5.
Teach students to segment words in sound (Tompkins, 2010, pg. 147).
When teach phonics awareness Tompkins suggest three criteria which include the following: 1.
Ensuring the activities are age appropriate, involve song, wordplay and include rhyme, 2. The
instructions are planned and purposeful, and 3. The activities should be integrated into a balanced
literacy program (pp. 147 148).
Teachers will often work with students whose primary language is not English. They must take the
opportunity to provide instructions and material in the native language of the student because

33. Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism,...
Religions have always been extremely varied. This is true due to an ample amount of external
factors, such as location. Is it possible that there is at least one universal idea, present in all of
them? This is largely a personal interpretation, as common ground (universal ideas) has a large
spectrum of meanings, ranging from kind of similar if you look at it in the right fashion , to
exactly alike . In any case, there are many examples, and counterexamples of universal ideas
between the main seven religions: Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Daoism, and
Confucianism, which will be explored in the remainder of this essay.
Arguments could be made on how all religions share a similarity. For example, all religions were
persecuted by outsiders at some point. Perhaps the most dramatic example of this was the mass
genocide known as the Holocaust, where an estimated 6 million Jewish civilians were killed by
the Nazis during WWII. Hitler executed this final solution , as a means of finding a scapegoat for
all of Germany s failures. Another dramatic example of religious persecution is the continued
persecution of Muslims post 9/11 in America, where because of Osama bin Laden s Islamic
heritage, and his Muslim faith, all Muslims continue to be associated with him. On a nationwide
scale, the Chinese government is currently trying to suppress all religions in China (the main ones
including Daoism, Buddhism, Confucianism, and Christianity), because the government

35. Symbolism In Christmas Carol
Did you know that symbols are all around us?
Symbolism is when we use an image or thing to represent another idea. It is very important in the
play A Christmas Carol and is used every day. In the play they use the three ghost as symbolism
for example the ghost of Christmas past symbolised a kind of happy character because she is
dressed in light colors and she shows him his past which made him happy and cries tears of joy, the
ghost of Christmas future represents darkness because he shows all the bad things that are about to
happen if he does not change and one of them is he shows Scrooge his grave!! Another symbolism
is sadness because the ghost of Christmas present shows Scrooge how his worker is poor and his
son could die soon.Happiness symbolized by the ghost of Christmas past, darkness symbolized by
the ghost of Christmas future, sadness symbolized b ghost of Christmas present. Symbolism in A
Christmas Carol is important because they represent happiness, darkness, sadness and some
symbolism and this is why.
Happiness is one important part of this story wanna know why? The ghost of Christmas past is a
symbolism of happiness and there are lots of reasons why. In the story A Christmas Carol the
ghost of Christmas past shows Scrooge his past Christmases. The ghost brought him back to
when he was sitting alone on Christmas reading a book and he could not leave and it showed
how he use to love books and how he use to act out as if he was in the book when he was reading
like he pretended he was fighting off pirates and defending a map. The ghost of Christmas past
brings also brings him back to when his sister comes and visits him and tells him his father
would like him back and that made him very happy to hear, also his teacher of his school gives
him a notebook to write in and that ended up being a very important book to him. It had become
an important book to him because he started a new business and he wrote a lot of the stuff for
his business in the book that his teacher had given him. She brought him back to the time when
his new business opened up and everyone had been so happy and they all danced and had a big
happy party and also that was a happy time for Scrooge because she shows when he met

36. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Living With Parents
The majority of teenagers for years dream about the day they finally get to move out of their
parents home and start living independently. Suddenly when it s time to move out and live on their
own it becomes overwhelming. Most teenagers think they are ready to take on the responsibility of
living independently but when reality sets in, they realize that providing for themselves is
surprisingly more difficult than living with their family. Living alone and living with family has its
own advantages and disadvantages which include the amount of responsibilities, freedom and
financial stability an individual has.
When living with your parents, everything is prepared for you. The responsibilities a teenager is
given are based on the parents trying to prepare them for early adulthood. This means sharing
responsibilities that contribute to the house such as chores. For example, today you have to do the
dishes, the next day you have to clean the living room and the bathroom. A disadvantage of living
with your parents would be the amount of freedom you are given. For example, you have a set
curfew time to be home by, and the consequences of arriving late past the curfew time would be a
punishment like getting grounded, no internet for two days, or getting your favorite play system
taken away. You re not allowed to talk on the phone past certain hours and you re not allowed to
go to that concert you ve been waiting to go to because your parents would rather have you stay
home.

Social cultural learning can be illustrated through the examination of businesses operating out of
both developed and emerging economies. A close examination of their similarities and differences
provides distinctions with their beliefs toward business operations and ethics. This type of
examination can lend insight into how companies within emerging economies are able to leverage
their resources and capabilities in the development and growth of successful operations. The
pervasive thought is emerging economies represents untapped potential (Chiou, 2013). However
many companies such as Walmart have undertaken operations within these markets only to come

Assessment Copycat firms within emerging markets (such as Lenovo, Acer and Tata) can be
considered learning firms. Copycats essentially learned how to conduct business from an already
successful business model. Their ability to transform learning into a viable business has jettisoned
them into positions of power within the world s economies. Lenovo is currently the leader in PC
sales worldwide. Although PC sales in the US continue to decline Lenovo s ability to capture
emerging markets such as China, allows them to continue their profitable growth (Gupta, 2012).
Core Resources and Capabilities of Multinationals in Emerging Economies The one constant
capability with companies from emerging markets is their willingness and capability to learn.
Transforming this learning and the abundance of low cost resources allows these companies to
execute a low cost strategy. This low cost strategy has provided the inlets into both emerging and
developed markets. Using a strict resource based analysis consisting of value, rarity, imitability and

40. Listening Style Analysis
Listening styles. Not something most people think about on a daily basis; well at least I never
had. Undoubtedly, listening is one of the most important links in communication, but who knew
there were different types of listening styles? I did not; at least not until completing this
assignment. This was the main reason I was enthused about completing the listening style
assessment. The listening assessment showed me that I have two listener preferences: people
oriented and action oriented. I scored a four in both of these categories. I was initially surprised
by my low score in the time oriented listening category, but upon further investigation I realized
why I scored so low. I do not allocate time for listening and I do not feel comfortable cutting people
off mid conversation; even if I am feelingpressed for time. These traits are not consistent with time
oriented listeners. Completing a listener profile allows one to purposefully use their strengths and
weaknesses to work towards becoming a more efficient and effective listener.

One of these ways is to practice being an active listener. Rephrasing and summarizing what the
speaker is saying and repeating key points while writing them down will help me listen the entire
time someone is speaking. I am privileged to have plenty of opportunities to attend lectures that
are given at my work place. I chose to attend a lecture this week for the sole purpose of practicing
my listening skills. During the lecture I practiced being an active listener. I made mental note of
key words and phrases and wrote down main points that were not clear so that I could resort and do
further research after the lecture. I also focused my attention to the speaker s mannerism to help me
identify which messages were most important to understand. This practice session taught me the
most effective way to absorb information given through an oral

1. In what major ways did Confucian philosophy manifest itself in Chinese society during the Ming
and/or Qing dynasties?
It is clear from examining the philosophical thought and social trends during both the Qing and
Ming dynasties that Confucian thought and ideology had a profound effect on Chinese society and
moral values during that period.
Confucian philosophy is an ethical and philosophical thinking system thought to have been
developed from the teachings of Kong Fuzi, known as Confucius who lived between 551 478 BC
in China. [1]The essence of Confucianism is that the human mind can be cultivated through virtue
and moral perfection. Confucianism has had tremendous influence on Chinese history and culture

This branch of Neo Confucianism was known as The School of principle . Although his works
were written during the Song Dynasty, by the time of the Ming and Qing dynasty, they had been
adopted as key text for the imperial examinations which meant that most of the educated men of
that period would have a high of understanding of his thought. [11]One of Zhu Xi s most famous
books was the book family rituals where he offered advice on many rituals including how to
conduct weddings, funerals, family ceremonies, and the veneration of ancestors.[12] Zhu Xi was
also known for implementing Buddhist thought into his philosophy. He argued for a Buddhist sense
of high moral and also argued that one should engage in both academic and philosophical
pursuits.[13]
The other branch of neo Confucianism advocated by Wang Yang Ming was known as the school of
mind which was founded by Ch eng Hao (1032 1085). [14] Although this school of thought also
believed that the material world was built from a single immaterial principle, the difference was that
this principle existed solely in the human mind. Wang Yang Ming believed that the principle of the
universe is equivalent to the human mind and that the practice of humanity, referred to as jen
unifies man with the universe. Wang Yang Ming expanded on this saying that innate knowledge
can manifest the original mind that is equivalent to the universe.[15] The innate knowledge, in his
opinion, represented the

43. Forecasting A Hurricane Essay
When we hear about hurricanes on the news or how one might be closing in on where we live
we mostly think of how we are going to protect our self. However, there is one thing that I think
most people do not stop and ponder, which is how does a hurricane even get forecast? From the
direction it is going to be headed, to how it is categorized. The group that preforms all forecasting
for tropical cycloneactivity is the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and they cover the Atlantic and
Eastern Pacific basins throughout North America. To start it begins with visual observations of the
hurricane using reconnaissance airplanes, satellites, ships, buoys, radars, and an assortment of land
based equipment. Likewise, most of the storms projected path and... Show more content on

Another tool that has recently been in use to monitor hurricanes is the NASA Global Hawk, which
is an experimental unmanned aircraft that is used to test possible operational capabilities within a
hurricane. Likewise, once a hurricane is projected to become a threat to land, the hurricane is
immediately monitored by the U.S. Air Force, and NOAA hurricane aircraft, and land stations.
One of the biggest assets that are in use is the Chief, Aerial Reconnaissance Coordination, All
Hurricanes (CARCAH) which organizes tropical cyclone scouting flights. These flights gather data
about the storm and it is sent back to the ground team of CARCAH and thoroughly checked for any
errors, before being given to the NHC and then released to the public. Another asset that is used is
the Automated Surface Observations Stations (ASOSs) and instrumented weather balloons
(radiosondes) which can deliver supplementary measurements as needed.
Overall, a lot of information goes into giving hurricane forecasts to make sure that people that
might be effected are told ahead of time so that if an evacuation is needed it can be done in the
needed time

44. We Wear The Mask Dunbar Analysis
Realism writing started to be used in the 1800s, basically to show what the world actually
consisted of and not what our eyes tried to see. Realism did not sugar coat anything, regardless of
what it was. It would speak whatever, but always with the truth.
In the stories of We Wear the Mask by Paul Lawrence Dunbar and The Story of an Hour by Kate
Chopin both authors develop the theme within these two stories. The view of point that these
two stories develop is that people go by what is on the outside of your appearance not by what
your emotions are or how you feel in the inside. Dunbar and Chopin both develop this theme
within two main literary terms. In the story We Wear the Mask Dunbar uses symbolism mostly
throughout his whole poem. The poem may be short but as you read it you realize it has a very
big meaning behind it, and within it, it is all truth. While in The Story of an Hour , Chopin uses
the literary term of irony, when you read the story you wouldn t have expected how it started, to
how it ended up ending. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, with torn and bleeding hearts we smile, and mouth with myriad subtleties to that
sentence a lot of people may be able to relate to this. Realism comes in within this sentence
because it s truth even though we are broken, torn, upset, feeling miserable we still manage to
find a way to hide it within giving a slight broken smile. We smile, but, O great Christ, our cries
To thee from tortured souls arise this sentence has a lot of meaning behind it, because like I
previously said other people may not know how we feel but Christ is the One who knows how
we really feel. Let the world dream otherwise, we wear the mask! Don t let them see how you
actually feel, just hide it within a mask so no one would know how you feel . Dunbar really hit the
jackpot with this poem because it speaks nothing but real

45. Cage Free Egg Free Eggs
The article from Huffington Post with the heading McDonald s Plans To Switch To Cage Free
Eggs mentions the announcement of McDonald s plan on cage free eggs. McDonald s plans to
complete the transition to cage free eggs in the U.S. and Canada by 2025.1 The article not only
brings cage free eggs into concern, but also raises heated discussion about whether hens should
be bred in the cage free system or in the conventional way. In this essay, I will argue that it is a
right choice to switch to the cage free system in terms of the animal welfare. Besides, I will
suggest that the cage free system should be encouraged because eggs laid by hens raised in such
system embraces better nutrition. Encouragement of cage free eggs is a bold move, but it is worth
carrying out. In terms of the animal welfare, the cage free system treats hens in a more humane
manner and ensures them a life with more freedom. An overwhelming majority of hens are
limited in the conventional cages, where they each can share only 67 square inches of the cage
space.2 67 square inches cannot even compare with a piece of letter size paper which takes up
about 93.5 square inches. Such tiny space is not enough for hens to spread their wings, let alone
make nests or perch. The conventional system shows a lack of certain humanity. Unlike the
conventional system, the cage free system provides more spacious room for hens, where they are
able to walk around within a certain range, to spread their

46. Literature Review. Autism Overview. Autism Spectrum Disorder
Literature Review
Autism Overview Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a widely known disability that, as of 2012,
affects about 1 in 68 of children in the United States (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,
2016). The exact cause of the disability is unknown, however individuals with ASD exhibit some
common characteristics. Autism belongs to heterogeneous categories of developmental
disabilities where neurological disorders lead to deficits in a child s ability to communicate,
understand language, play, develop social skills, and relate to others (Rao Gagie, 2006, p. 26).
These deficits can range in varying degrees of severity, which is why the disability is considered to
be a spectrum. Students with autism are usually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many students in high school lack vocational training that could increase their future success, and
many students with disabilities are in need of extra training or exploration to help them establish
these goals (Swank Huber, 2013). IDEA states that students with disabilities should be prepared for
further education, employment, and independent living (IDEA, 2004). Although this is stated in
the law, many students with disabilities are not getting a sufficient vocational education. Students
with disabilities are required to have a transition plan in place when they are in high school.
Transition planning is critical for all individuals, with or without disabilities, and this planning
should focus on layering the foundation and providing support for transition in all aspects of adult
life (Sitlington, 1996, p. 37). Teaching vocational skills are an essential part of this transition
planning.
Students are educated, but there is a separation between vocational and academic education.
Students are more prepared for post secondary education than they are for the workforce (Gebhardt,
Tretter, Schwab, Gasteiger Klicpera, 2012). Hazelkorn and Lombard (1994) state:
Secondary students with disabilities often are denied access to the broad continuum of vocational
education options because of the increased academic expectations of vocational courses, the
apprehension of

48. Oscar Wilde s An Ideal Husband
The genre of comedy, throughout the history of dramatic art has always served to not only
entertain audiences, but to make them aware of their own individual flaws, or flaws that exist in
society. (Weitz, E.) Comedy has no precise definition, and its boundaries are broad. One function of
comedy however has remained the same to hold up a mirror to the society of the time but through
pleasure, inviting audiences to reflect and also providing amusement. Set in the late nineteenth
century, the play An Ideal Husband by Oscar Wilde(1895) epitomises comedy, as both a literary and
dramatic genre. Wilde was masterful in his ability to combine aspects of evolved comedic
traditions and dramatic conventions to critique Victorian society. Drawing on characteristics of
Greek and Roman tragicomedy, the choices in the play s plot involves elements of tragedy as
well as scenes that serve as comic relief and give the audience a sense of finality through a happy
resolution. (Bureman, L) Focussing on the upper class stratum, Wilde employs a comedy of
manners MoliГЁre style, of the Restoration Period in the seventeenth century in the play by
combining forms of comedy with aspects of realist drama. The portrayal of archetypal figures such
as Lady Chiltern and Lord Goring satirize rigid moral value of the time and expose their
hypocrisies, through dialogue involving irony, wit and humour. Elements of farce and disguises
characterized by commedia dell arte , a form of comedy first developed in

Life of a Superintendent
Taking care of a golf course is a great field to go into because supervisors get the winter months
off, they only need two years of college minimum, have to be a good supervisor for the crew
members, and they have to be self motivated to be a golf course superintendent.
There is a bunch of things that superintendents do. One thing they do is mow. Now on a golf
course there is a lot of grass and it has to be maintained to a certain height. The greens are mowed
lower than the fairways and the rough. Mowing is a crucial point of a golf course because that will

watering is a the biggest part of watering. If there is dry spots or anything looking funky out
there then they grab a hose and start hand watering. Spraying is the biggest part of a golf course.
If the superintendent doesn t spray then say goodbye to it. They spray pesticides, herbicides,
and fungicide. Pesticides will kill any kind of pest that is on a golf course. A couple of examples of
pesticides to be found are grubs, worms and ants. Herbicides is used to kill weeds and if they
apply to much to an area you could also kill grass. There is a ton a weeds out there but the old
chemicals are not doing the trick anymore just because the weeds are prone to it and it just won t

or curative rate. The two most common diseases on a golf course are dollar spot and brown patch.
Dollar spot are like quarter size brown spots that can be found on fairways and greens. It feeds off
of water and will start to expand if not treated right away. Brown patch is a circle and will be

Women and men together make a great team for emergency medical services because, it is such
a wide variety of things we encounter. On some calls men are much better at communicating
with the patient and at other times women are. Entering into the EMS field, I knew there would
be things to overcome such as harassment, hostile situations and many other challenges to get
through. You have to love what you do to make it through daily life in your job. It is very
difficult to be first responders and you never know what type of situation you are going to enter
into. Also, I am sure some patients and family members may think when they see a small
woman like me; is she capable to move me, lift that heavy equipment, and so on. I put my all in
everything I do and have a true passion from the heart in helping others. I know if you are a
woman and want to be in this field you can as long as you put your mind to it and stay dedicated.
In some situations it is more difficult on women than it is men to deal with current things but,
that also applies to men as well. I set a goal of becoming a Paramedic and in the future going
above and beyond that. Being a Paramedic student I know how much hard work and dedication it
