Trans Fats And Its Effects On Human Health
Partially hydrogenated oils: These types of oils have the purpose of giving a longer shelf life to food
and giving more stability to oils that are usually liquid at room temperature. By partially
hydrogenating certain oils, food industries can make liquid oils solid and sustain a food s flavor and
the length it can remain on shelves. This types of oil, PHOs, make up most of the artificial trans fats in
many foods. PHOs are created by chemically altering the chemical bonds of the oils by adding
hydrogen molecules to create a solid oil. This type of oil has a negative impact on human health and
the FDA recently decided that PHOs were regarded as not generally recognized as safe for human
consumption. Since PHOs are the main source of trans fats in American s diets, they have been linked
to an increased risk of heart disease that could lead to heart attacks and death. Hydrogenated oils: Like
partially hydrogenated oils, hydrogenated oils are used to create solids out of naturally liquid oils to
lengthen the life of products. Adding these oils to food also acts as a preservative for foods and
improve texture and taste. Hydrogenated oils are created by heating them at high temperatures for
several hours, then adding a metal catalyst that creates the denser, thicker substance used in foods. The
molecule of the fat is straightened by adding bonds. These oils are also shown to contribute to higher
blood pressure levels and higher cholesterol levels in humans. Since these types of

industry, a venipuncture procedure is the process of obtaining intravenous access for the purpose of
intravenous theory or for the blood sampling of venous blood (Harbert, 2013). This procedure can be
done by many individuals such as: paramedics, phlebotomist, medical laboratory scientist, and other
nursing staff. There are several steps an individual must take when preforming a venipuncture
procedure. The first step is to identify yourself to your patient. During this step, the phlebotomist
should walk to the assigned patient and discuss: who you are, what you are doing, where you are from,

For this procedure, prepare the site, and discuss with the patient what is going on and what will
happen. Once everything is set up the phlebotomist will complete the venipuncture procedure by order
of draw either by ETS venipuncture or syringe venipuncture (Harbert, 2013). In order to maintain a
sanitary environment and reduce the risk of infection, the next step is generally to dispose of all
contaminated materials and clean the puncture site and area; this is a controllable situation. Once the
patient and drawing area have been attended and taken care of, the next step for the phlebotomist is to
invert and accurately label all the specimens drawn with the patient s identification, date of time
(DOT), and signature of the phlebotomist. If the phlebotomist performed the proper order of draw, this
part should be completed fairly quickly. Lastly, the phlebotomist needs to send the collected
specimens off to the lab by doing so, this will ensure the specimens retain their qualities long enough
for testing. Although, this is controllable, once it goes to the lab the phase goes to the analytical

A Brief Biography On The State Of Education
A Brief Biography It is interesting to note that one of the most influential educators and researchers of
all time was rejected for a professorship position because she was a woman and because she was
overqualified (Fraenkel). Much to the benefit of present day curriculum development, the job rejection
landed her in a series of positions that would eventually lead to her work with the U.S. Office of
Education. Described as a short, squat, and spunky woman, Hilda Taba was notorious for her matter of
fact, no nonsense approach in dealing with people (Krull, 481). Born in Estonia, in 1902, she received
a German education, and then went on to study in the United States. The combination and the contrast
of her two educations would later play an integral role in the formation of her curriculum ideals.
Furthermore, her background in science contributed greatly to her scientific model of curriculum
development (Hayes, 15). Taba worked closely with some of the most influential curriculum
researchers and theorist of the 21st Century, including Benjamin Bloom, Ralph Tyler and John Dewey
(Costa, Loveall, 57). In fact, many historical surveys regarding leaders of curriculum development and
progressive education commonly refer to Taba as a disciple of Dewey.
Learning and Curriculum Over the course of her career, Taba developed many theories regarding
learning. In her seminal book, Curriculum Development Theory and Practice (1962), Taba defined
knowledge and classified it into three

The Tragic Heroes Of Hamlet And Oedipus
The Tragic Heroes Hamlet and Oedipus
A hero in a drama is the focus point throughout the story, someone who technically saves life s and
carries pride within them. In Hamlet by Shakespeare and Oedipus Rex by Sophocles they simply
create a tragic hero due to their stories having a twist in what a hero turns out to be at the end of the
dramatic stories. They have similar issues as well as they have their differences in their stories.
Shakespeare and Sophocles create a similar touch to their dramatic heroes, and not only do they write
those type of stories but they also create different characteristics to them and defining them in other
ways that can be entertaining. Even though in both Hamlet, and Oedipus contain tragic endings, both
main characters were viewed as heroes at one point in the story, however the authors did not create a
same character each main character has their own characteristics and each author had their way of
writing a drama. Shakespeare and Sophocles wrote different things and as well as Shakespeare is
known for his poems, he is also known for his dramatic stories with a tragic ending.
Hamlet, the son of a king, happens to lose his father while in a short amount of time his mother
marries his uncle, the brother of the king of Denmark. While Hamlet is trying to figure out everything,
the ghost of his father happens to appear, and it tells him that his uncle the current king of Denmark is
the one that caused his death. As crazy as it sounds, it is true, his

Liberia. The Capital Of Liberia Is Known As Monrovia. The
Liberia The capital of Liberia is known as Monrovia. The major language spoken in this country is
called Liberian English. This is because freed American slaves settled Liberia and founded it. Many
people have to speak a mix between Liberian and English. This caused the mix between the two
languages creating Liberian English. Liberia is located in Africa along the western border and lies

at about 4.294 million people in 2013. It sits on the coast of the south Atlantic coast.

Some unique foods made in Liberia are from very old recipes and they have many histories and

Similarities And Differences Between 1848-1861
The periods from 1763 1776 and 1848 1861 are similar in that they both share an escalation and
polarization problems, but even with the similar they are still different and lack consistency when
comparing the two periods in American history. The obvious is that both took place on American soil.
The led up to the American Revolution had many issues that the colonies were growing anger over
how the British Government handle them. An issue that can be compare between the both would be
the Dred Scott v Stanford court case and the trial of the British soldier after the Boston Massacre. The
cases are similar in that one side wanted this to be an example for their cause. The colonies wanting

The South threaten leaving the Union, because of the election of 1860 with Lincoln winning it. The
South did not want to lose their way of life and felt the only way would be to leave the Union. The
similarity in polarization of the two periods is that the farmers both times were on the side of
rebellion. The differences is that the American Revoulation was an east verves west, for example
North Carolina. The farmers who live in the west hated anything that the eastern city folks supported.
The eastern normally supported the British government and big business, so the farmers in the west
would just hate the British, because of the fact that people in the eastern supported them. The led up to
the Civil War was north verves south. This is showed through all of the compromises leading up to the
secession, for example the the Great Compromise of 1850. The North wanted California to enter as a
free state. The South feeling that their will lose power in Congress wanted the North to pass stricter
laws that would enforce the Fugitive Slave laws. The north got California and the south got the

The Princess Bride By William Goldman
For this assignment, I chose to watch The Princess Bride, a film based on the book written by William
Goldman. The story is of a beautiful maiden named Buttercup. When she hears word of her true love,
Westley s, ship being taken over by the Dread Pirate Roberts in which there were no survivors. Upon
Westley s death, Buttercup reluctantly agrees to marry Prince Humperdinck, who seems to have a plan
of his own. When Westley returns as the Dread Pirate Roberts, he finds Buttercup in grave danger in
the hands of Vizzini, the man we later learn was hired by Humperdinck to kill his bride and frame
Florin s sworn enemy, Guilder. After using his sword fighting skills and strength to outwit Inigo, the
Spanish swordsman, and Fizzik, the giant, he then uses his wit to kill Vizzini, Buttercup s capturer.
Once Buttercup is able to identify Pirate Roberts as Westley, they continue on their journey, only to be
thwarted by Prince Humperdinck, Count Rugen, and their men. Buttercup is then tricked to believe
that they let Westley go free, even though they have him tortured and eventually killed. In need of his
skills and strength, Fizzik and Inigo miraculously save Westley in order to seek revenge on Inigo s
father s killer, Count Rugen. The three of them then break into the castle, Inigo gets his revenge, and
save Buttercup, riding off on four white horses. As in every plot line, there are various conflicts that
occur in this film. Conflict, as we have learned, is a disagreement between

Moral Conflict and Internal Change in Antigone
Beliefs are not always based on facts that you would find in a textbook they are something that one
believes is true. When I first read Sophocles play Antigone, my initial impression of Creon was that
his beliefs of the law and the state were rational because of his role as a ruler. But as the play
progressed, I began to disagree with his behavior and his values because he only focused on his own
moral beliefs rather than considering the beliefs of other people, which could have resolved conflict.
Throughout the play, the theme of authority of the state and religion is represented through the
individual beliefs of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I strongly disagree with Zizek because she is viewed as promoting an authority of herself only because
of the gender conflict between men and women. Because of Antigone s role as a woman in the Theban
culture, she is viewed as demanding and stubborn against Creon s order. But if it were to be a man
who opposed Creon, he would be seen as courageous and assertive. Additionally, Antigone justifies
her position by claiming that it is her moral duty to bury Polyneices because the last of her kin are
gone. She accuses Creon by calling him a tyrant: I never heard it was Zeus Who made that
announcement. And it wasn t justice, either. The gods below Didn t lay down this law for human use.
And I never thought your announcements Could give you a mere human being Power to trample the
gods unfailing, Unwritten laws, (450 456). By Antigone burying Polyneices, she gains the respect and
support of people who also believe in honoring the dead and respecting the gods.
After Eteocles and Polyneices die in battle, Creon was the next of kin to rule the people of Thebes.
After rising to power, he immediately undergoes the destructive effects of power. As a result of this, he
becomes irrational in his thoughts and decisions and consequently, he abuses his power. For instance,
Creon arrests Ismene solely based on the reason that

Alice And Lucy s Suffrage In The 20th Century
What is the meaning of Suffrage? It is the term used to describe the right to vote as a legal and natural
born right. When people are without it, they work hard to eventually get it because they want to
become equal to others. Without having the ability to vote, one cannot have a say in what goes on
around them. The most powerful period for women and their fight for the right to vote was from 1890
to 1920. Women believed that if they had the same rights as men at that time that all their issues would
be solved. They had a lot of troubles and without being able to vote, they believed that they would
have difficulties of changing the future for themselves and their daughters. The women s situation in
the 1900s seemed unpromising. Everything ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nobody supported these women no matter how much they talked to the people in office or the people
of the public. They had to somehow make the government and the president, who was Woodrow
Wilson (Bob Gunton) at the time, change these regulations against women, giving them the right to
vote and discuss law just like men. As a result, a group of women gathered together to go out to
protest until their rights are granted. This caused several women to get unlawfully arrested. However,
the women found a way to protest while being incarcerated and eventually they were given the rights
they deserved by the president. Through the analyzation of the elements in a film, Alice and Lucy s
true passion and efforts were revealed through their continued devotion and perseverance, which
demonstrates that anyone can make difference and gain some control.
First off, the film s direction, staging and set displayed a great sense of the women s dedication to
making their movement happen. Although there are a few important and reoccurring characters, the
character that was mostly focused on was Alice Paul. The director and filmmakers made her character
seem bold and confident. In one scene, the women are holding a nonviolence protest in front of the
White House gate. The protested for many days. In some days there was rain, snow, heavy

Essay On Gemstones
The Properties and Types Of Gemstones
Before we get further into this topic of properties and types let s make the basics clear. What exactly is
a Gemstone? Well, The answer is pretty simple a gemstone is mineral or organic substance that is cut
and polished and used as ornaments. Gemstones are also used as a part of many supersticious beliefs
eg. Birthstones, good luck charms etc. Now that we know what gemstones mean we will now see how
to identify the various properties of gemstones.
Properties of a Gemstone
A gemstone is purely classified under two properties they are 1) Optical Properties and
2) Physical properties.
All properties of gemstones be it physical or optical are derived from the three dimensional structure
and chemical properties ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is basically the inner structure of the gemstone and this property again deals with hardness, it can
determine how hard a gemstone is based on the crystal system it also helps to determine the durability
of the gemstones. The crystal systems are cubic, tetragonal, hexagonal, trigonal, monoclinic, triclinic,
orthorhombic.
8) Fracture
Although cleavage and fracture both deals with weakness in planes. Cleavage is only found in certain
gemstones whereas fracture is found in every gemstone and any direction apart from cleavage that
occurs only in one direction. A fracture is a break in the emstone not along the cleavage plane. There
are different types of fractures namely even uneven concoidal etc. ,ost common in gemstone being
concoidal mostly seen in corundum.
Now that we are also finished talking about the physical properties. Lets move on to the types of
gemstones.
There are basically two types of classification
1) Precious and semi precious gemstones
The precious gemstones are diamond, ruby, sapphire, emerald, topaz, garnet, opal, amethyst,
chrysoberyl, moonstone, turquoise, jade, amber and finally the most important one is pearl.

The Popularity Of Characteristics In Mary Rowlandson s...
Captivity narratives are so popular because people find it more interesting to read something that is
written in first person. Not only is it important that the narrative is in first person, but the writer is also
describing all the events that occurred during their time in captivity, which is very emotional and
people enjoy reading things because of that emotional appeal. Captivity is not something that most
people want to experience, but people want to read about it so that they have a better understanding of
what happens to these victims and even be able to sympathize for them, and maybe provide support
for others who have recently been in captivity. I think that most people have a big enough heart to
where if they read a captivity narrative, they would feel sympathy towards all people who have been
victims of captivity. Most importantly, I believe that captivity narratives are popular and appealing to
the reader because throughout the narrative it shows how the victim dealt with the situation, and how
they were able to survive captivity until they were found.
In Mary Rowlandson s captivity narrative, all of these things are expressed, and she discusses her
entire journey through captivity. One of the main things to take away from this narrative is the amount
of faith that is portrayed throughout all the difficult times. Anyone who were to read this captivity
narrative would recognize how important Rowlandson s faith was to her and her family; even though
the Indians did

Assimilation and Accomodation in Every Interaction
The two processes that are involved in every interaction are assimilation and accommodation.
Assimilation means gaining some knowledge and making it fit in with what you already know. This is
a necessity in order to develop our cognitive structures. This is a process that everyone encounters
even though they may not be aware of when it is happening. Our perceptions of things are enhanced
when something of the outside world is assimilated or added into our internal world. Accommodation
is the changing of one s structure of thought. During this process, the gaining of new knowledge fails

This is during the first stage of the sensori motor period. Assimilation is the most well known activity
during this stage, but accommodation is also brought into play. These two processes begin during this
first stage, but do not start to develop until later in the child s life and in a later period in development.
During preoperational stage of cognitive development, as defined by Piaget, children begin to
assimilate as a way of adaptive behavior. They are at the age now where they can begin to really take
in new knowledge and new things. They are able to go back to their previous way of thinking, but
with some new information. The formation of stable concepts and beginnings of mental reasoning are
characteristics of this stage. The child begins to acquire new information and assimilates this
information to reach a level of stability. Children s thinking during this period is illogical and they
lack the ability to make connections between categories. An example of assimilation would be a child
being outside during the day and seeing the bright circle of light coming from the sky and being told
by their parent that it is the sun. One night the child is outside and sees the bright circle of light
coming from the sky and says it is the sun. The child associates any bright circle of light coming from
the sky the sun. The child has not yet distinguished between the sun and the moon.
As this period shifts over to the next stage

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Chlorine
Since chlorine production is corrosive in nature, the anode (chorine is formed) is made using a metal
which is non reactive in nature such as titanium, on the other hand cathode (hydroxide ions are
formed) is made from a metal which can be easily oxidized such as nickel.
In membrane cell, an ion permeable membrane separates cathode and anode. Saturated brine is sent to
the compartment with cathode (the anolyte). DC current is passed and the NaCl is broken into its
constituent components with the help of this DC current. The membrane sends Na+ ions to anode
compartment which is the catholyte, where it forms sodium hydroxide in solution. Only positive ions
are allowed to pass through the membrane in order to prevent mixing of NaOH and HCl. The chloride
ions are oxidized to form chlorine in gaseous form and it occurs at anode, which is collected, purified
and stored. As a result Hydroxide ions and hydrogen formation takes place at the cathode.

Efficient brine filtration is crucial to the proper operation of the ion exchange system. Solids will foul
the resin, increase resin s differential pressure and there is a possibility that they damage the resin
itself. Proper operation of the secondary brine filters is highly necessary for successful operation of
the ion exchange system.
The brine ion exchange system should be located downstream of any mercury removal system, not
upstream. Mercury is removed from the brine by the IER8 630 resin, but it is not stripped from the
resin during regeneration. Therefore, any mercury removed from this resin will permanently reduce
the capacity of the resin, thereby shortening its cycle time (i.e. shortening the length of time between
consecutive regenerations). It is therefore highly necessary that any upstream mercury removal system
eliminates maximum mercury

Mountaintop Removal Case Study
Introduction
Today, the extraction of natural resources takes on many different forms. Mountaintop removal (MTR)
is one approach applied in the Appalachian region of the United States for the extraction of the
resource coal. MTR approaches the coal from the top of the mountain by blasting away the layers of
rock above the coal seams and scraping away the layers of coal. This process leaves behind effects to
the surrounding environment including flooding, contamination to water and air, health impacts, and
ecological impacts. In response to these effects the community members most affected have taken it

The suit against the coal company became known as Ohio Valley Environmental Coalition v. Aracoma
Coal Company. This lawsuit involved four permits issued by the United States Army Corps of
Engineers, allowing for certain mountaintop mining processes at four mining sites in West Virginia.
OVEC alleged that the Corps violated the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) by failing to
adequately assess the environmental impact of the valley fills, by improperly limiting the scope of the
environmental assessment, and by ignoring evidence regarding the cumulative effects of valley fills on
the environment (Clark, 2008, p. 146). Much to the surprise of these coalition groups on March 2007,
the district court found in favor of OVEC and held that the Corps failed to comply with the CWA and
NEPA when it issued the four permits. The court further noted that a CWA Section 404 permit may not
be issued if the Corps fails to comply with its own guidelines and with NEPA when making a finding
of no significant impact. The court remanded the permits to the Corps for further consideration in light
of its findings. The court also rescinded the four permits, enjoining the Corps and Intervenors from
taking any action under the challenged permits. On appeal, the Fourth Circuit reversed the district
court s order and held that the Corps did not violate the CWA or NEPA in

There was a cop that shortly came pulling up behind us, but what we didn t know is that he wasn t
looking for us. We were paranoid, and by paranoid I mean me. Katie was passed out and Kenna was
too busy calling me a sissy. At that moment I was, because cops can be scary. So, as we are thinking
this cop is following us, I pulled into some random person s driveway and we all had dunked. Katie,
by the way still passed out did not have to worry about dunking because she was already dunking and
passed out, thankfully I had a couch pillow and a blanket in the back. Kenna and I were keeping look
out and then Katie decides to pop her head up and see what was going on. Just as I thought a car was
coming as well. So, without being said I pushed her head down and told her to go back to sleep. I did
not have to tell her twice. Katie passed out once again, I checked to see if the cop had came back
around to see if he was looking for us. Turns out, he

Body Cameras And The Law Enforcement Officers
In todays society, American citizens are unpleased with the law enforcement officers. These officers
are here protecting the people of America, and to get the people doing the wrong things off the street
so the rest of the people can be safe. In the past few months, there have been shootings of American
citizens, and shootings of law enforcement officers. The people of society are only seeing the bad side
of police officers, and never understand the whole story when needed to be heard. As the internet
continues to expand, the promises it makes is beyond human understanding (Carr 56). The internet
and television are the most complex form of technology, and only portray the bad side of cops. The
idea of multimedia is to combine text, sound, and pictures in a single package that you browse on
screen (Gelernter 97). The idea of body cameras put in the uniforms of the law enforcement officers
has been talked about, so that everyone can see the exact truth of the situation. The idea of body
cameras for the law enforcement officers has it benefits and drawbacks. I think having the body
cameras will greatly benefit the law enforcement officers in society today and in the future.
To begin with, allowing body cameras as a part of a law enforcement officers uniform would be
beneficial to the police officer. A benefit of having body cameras is decreasing complaints filed
against police officers. One of the most favored advantages brought about by body cameras is the

Out of all of the boys on the island, Piggy is the only boy who cares most about getting off the island.
He also attaches himself to the conch, which represents order, and surrounds himself in items that
symbolize order. Because of all of this, Piggy chooses to accept civilization with open arms. For
example, Piggy always says You haven t got the conch! ( 11 . 29) whenever the boys forget the
purpose of the conch. The conch represents order and their rules on the island. Whenever they are
broken, Piggy tries to reinforce its purpose and bring back their government . Another item Piggy is

The Pharmaceutical Industry

Describe The Typical Italian Dinner
This ethnographic text will describe how the typical Italian dinner is structured, through a rather
classic Saturday dinner in my house. The first paragraph will illustrate the social hierarchy of the
family when setting up the table. The following parts of the essay will describe the processes that
occur when starting the meal, and then the different rules and habits when eating.
In this family, dinner does start a specific time every day, rather, it starts when my father is finish
cooking. On this occasion, he started cooking at eight p.m., and it usually takes him between 45
minutes and an hour to finish. While he was cooking, all the other members of the family (me, my
sister, my mother and my grandmother), were all outside the kitchen, busy with our own activities.
We all reunited around the table only, when father called us when he was almost finish preparing the
food. At this moment, the rest of the family cleared off the table from all the objects that do not belong
to the table during dinner time, and as we did this, we also set up the table. The setup is very
structured, in fact, there are always two plates for each person (a smaller plate on top of a bigger one),
both fork and knife on the right hand side of the plate with the glass on the top left corner of the plate,
and in the middle of the table there are a jar of water, a wooden ... Show more content on

The Importance of Class in American Discourse, and the...
Americans avoid broaching the subject of class in America, notes Mantsios (2006). To support his
claim, Mantsios (2006) states that most poor people in the United States identify first with their racial
heritage, ethnic heritage, or geographic location. Members of the working class do not consider
themselves part of a collective of workers, but rather as employees of a specific company. References
to a middle class are, according to Mantsios (2006), usually done by politicians to pander to the
broadest possible constituency, (p. 183). When relative wealth or poverty is addressed in the
mainstream media, it is done so without reference to the structural issues that cause income disparity.
Mantsios (2006) proceeds to outline several myths, including the overarching myth that America is a
classless society (p. 183). The second of his four main myths related to class in America is that
Despite some variations in economic status, most Americans have achieved relative affluence in what
is widely recognized as a consumer society, (p. 184). Certainly, to a villager in Zimbabwe a poor
American might seem to have relative affluence. Yet within the broader scheme of American society, it
seems insulting to claim validity to this myth. Mantsios (2006) offers some hypothetical case studies
to highlight the importance of class in American discourse, and the falsehood of the myth of universal
affluence. Bob Farrell s ambition as a child was to become President. This

Essay on Biblical Flood of Noah in Genesis and the...
The Flood of Noah and the Gilgamesh Flood
The Sumero Babylonian version of the epic of Gilgamesh, after two and a half millennia of dormancy,
was resurrected by British archaeologists in the nineteenth century. Amid the rubble of an Assyrian
palace, the twelve clay tablets inscribed the adventures of the first hero of world literature King
Gilgamesh, whose oral folk tales go back to at least 3000 years before Christ (Harris 1). Tablet XI
contains the story of the Flood. In this essay let us compare this flood account to the more recent Noah
s Flood account in Genesis of the Old Testament.
Column 1 on Tablet 11 begins the Sumero Babylonian Flood narrative (Gardner 226). The sage

In Column 2 of Tablet 11 the Sumero Babylonian Flood narrative continues with the measurements
and construction of the ark:
One acre was its whole floorspace; ten dozen cubits the height of each wall; ten dozen cubits its deck,
square on each side.
I [Utnapishtim] laid out the contours, drew it all.
I gave it six decks and divided it, thus, into seven parts.
Its innards I divided into nine parts.
I struck water plugs into it.
I checked the poles and laid in all that was necessary.
I poured 24,000 gallons of bitumen into the kiln; the same amount I laid on the inside.
The basket bearers brought on three shars of oil in addition to the shar of oil consumed in the seed
meal and the two shars of oil stowed away by the boatman.(Gardner 231)
On the seventh day the ark was completed. It was launched, and then loaded with all my kin and
family and with the animals of the fields. This ark has twice the number of floors as Noah s ark. After
the Jewish Old Testament establishes reasons for the Flood, then it proceeds with specific building
instructions to Noah in Genesis 6:14:
Make yourself an ark of gopher wood; make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and out with pitch.
This is how you are to make it: the length of the ark three hundred cubits, its breadth fifty cubits, and
its height thirty cubits. Make a roof for the ark, and finish it to a cubit above; and set the door

path of socialism instead of capitalism. The Plan itself was a huge propaganda project, aimed at
convincing the Soviet people that they were engaged in a great industrial enterprise of their own

in official documents, one that viewed the increased employment of women not in terms of its effects

Self Efficacy In The Book Thief
Responsibility is accepting that you are the cause and the solution of the matter unknown. This quote
is true we need to accept that we are the cause and we need to also accept that we are Imperative to
find out the solution to the matter at hand. Without Self Efficacy we could not be able to do this. We
would be able to accept Responsibility but then we could never be able to truly accept that we can
change we can be the solution that we can make the difference. Self Efficacy plays a major role on
how we can advance in life or how we approach a challenge.
To start out we will talk about Spider Man. A struggling teenager who had been bite by a radioactive
spider. He was so shocked and surprised as well as flabbergasted. When his uncle ben was killed by a

Disagreement Analysis
The statement claims that we learn more from people whose views we share than those whose views
we contradict because disagreement can cause stress and inhibit learning. Some people think that
agreement leads to harmony and learning, while disagreement hinders intellectual progress. I disagree
with both the claim and the reason and will discuss situations that illustrate why I consider the
statement misguided.
I disgree with the view that we learn more from those who share our views than those who contradict
it. This comes from my experience being a student in a school in Boston. Although I believe in the
Islamic teachings, I, nonetheless, learned a great deal about science, mathematics, ethics, and
philosophy from my Christian and Jew professors. Here some might think that engaging in a

I would argue that, on the countrary, disagreement enhances learning. I recall in an economics class I
took the professor guided a debate between myself and my colleage. The subject of the debate was
whether we should raise the minimum wage. My view conflicted that of my colleage who thought that
we should instead abolish the concept of the minimum wage. My reasoning was that increasing the
minimum wage would help the middle class and low income families. But my colleage thought that
from the economic theory of demand and price, an increase in the minimum wage would hurt small
businesses as they would be less profitable to run, and thus would result in an increase in
unemployment. What I learned from our discussion was that even though our views differed
drastically, each of us learned about the other s point of view. The experience was both delightful and
enlightening. Thus, disagreement does not cause stress and inhibit learning. In fact, the opposite is
true; disagreement fosters a learning

Participatory Culture Through The Media
Old media like broadcasting, print, and film created a consumer culture in the public. Participants
would consume the media they could find, and that was the extent of their engagement with a piece of
media. But during the digital age, participatory culture has exploded. Participatory culture is a concept
coined by Henry Jenkins where consumers take part in both the consumption and the production of
media. The advent of computers facilitates a low barrier of entry for creation of digital media and its
propagation. With the availability of personal computers and consumer level software to manipulate
media as well as the popularity of the internet to spread content, fans have become more engaged with
the media they consume. In turn, participants can create forms of that media that comment and expand
upon the original content. Participants who used to only consume media now have the avenues to
become producers of media. In this essay, I will explore participatory culture through the lense of Lev
Manovich s Five Principles of New Media: Numerical Representation, Modularity, Automation,
Variability, and Transcoding.
The first of Manovich s principles is Numerical Representation. A piece of new media can be
represented by discrete numbers. For example, an image file is a collection of numbers describing the
color of each pixel in the image. A game is a piece of software compiled to 1 s and 0 s that respond
and react to input from the user. Anything in digital form is at its based

What Is Tony A Hero
Tony Ede, a volunteer, has experienced the happiness that people get from the volunteering. From
helping people through hard times as a pastor, saving lives as a volunteer EMT, and helping the

influences as a child. One of the heavier influences was his pastor. He believes that what makes a hero
is what examples people have while growing up. His pastor was very engaging with the people at the
church. His pastor would call on people to answer questions during the service. One week his pastor
had to go tend to some family issues. The pastor asked Tony if he could lead the service while he was
gone. Tony said yes and lead the sermon. Doing this made him realize that being a pastor was fun and

  • 2. Trans Fats And Its Effects On Human Health Partially hydrogenated oils: These types of oils have the purpose of giving a longer shelf life to food and giving more stability to oils that are usually liquid at room temperature. By partially hydrogenating certain oils, food industries can make liquid oils solid and sustain a food s flavor and the length it can remain on shelves. This types of oil, PHOs, make up most of the artificial trans fats in many foods. PHOs are created by chemically altering the chemical bonds of the oils by adding hydrogen molecules to create a solid oil. This type of oil has a negative impact on human health and the FDA recently decided that PHOs were regarded as not generally recognized as safe for human consumption. Since PHOs are the main source of trans fats in American s diets, they have been linked to an increased risk of heart disease that could lead to heart attacks and death. Hydrogenated oils: Like partially hydrogenated oils, hydrogenated oils are used to create solids out of naturally liquid oils to lengthen the life of products. Adding these oils to food also acts as a preservative for foods and improve texture and taste. Hydrogenated oils are created by heating them at high temperatures for several hours, then adding a metal catalyst that creates the denser, thicker substance used in foods. The molecule of the fat is straightened by adding bonds. These oils are also shown to contribute to higher blood pressure levels and higher cholesterol levels in humans. Since these types of ... • 3. Preanalytical Reflection Paper Preanalytical Reflection Paper Jaime Stayton Module G April 5, 2017 Jennifer Upsher In the medical industry, a venipuncture procedure is the process of obtaining intravenous access for the purpose of intravenous theory or for the blood sampling of venous blood (Harbert, 2013). This procedure can be done by many individuals such as: paramedics, phlebotomist, medical laboratory scientist, and other nursing staff. There are several steps an individual must take when preforming a venipuncture procedure. The first step is to identify yourself to your patient. During this step, the phlebotomist should walk to the assigned patient and discuss: who you are, what you are doing, where you are from, get the patient s permission to do the venipuncture, as well as see ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For this procedure, prepare the site, and discuss with the patient what is going on and what will happen. Once everything is set up the phlebotomist will complete the venipuncture procedure by order of draw either by ETS venipuncture or syringe venipuncture (Harbert, 2013). In order to maintain a sanitary environment and reduce the risk of infection, the next step is generally to dispose of all contaminated materials and clean the puncture site and area; this is a controllable situation. Once the patient and drawing area have been attended and taken care of, the next step for the phlebotomist is to invert and accurately label all the specimens drawn with the patient s identification, date of time (DOT), and signature of the phlebotomist. If the phlebotomist performed the proper order of draw, this part should be completed fairly quickly. Lastly, the phlebotomist needs to send the collected specimens off to the lab by doing so, this will ensure the specimens retain their qualities long enough for testing. Although, this is controllable, once it goes to the lab the phase goes to the analytical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. A Brief Biography On The State Of Education A Brief Biography It is interesting to note that one of the most influential educators and researchers of all time was rejected for a professorship position because she was a woman and because she was overqualified (Fraenkel). Much to the benefit of present day curriculum development, the job rejection landed her in a series of positions that would eventually lead to her work with the U.S. Office of Education. Described as a short, squat, and spunky woman, Hilda Taba was notorious for her matter of fact, no nonsense approach in dealing with people (Krull, 481). Born in Estonia, in 1902, she received a German education, and then went on to study in the United States. The combination and the contrast of her two educations would later play an integral role in the formation of her curriculum ideals. Furthermore, her background in science contributed greatly to her scientific model of curriculum development (Hayes, 15). Taba worked closely with some of the most influential curriculum researchers and theorist of the 21st Century, including Benjamin Bloom, Ralph Tyler and John Dewey (Costa, Loveall, 57). In fact, many historical surveys regarding leaders of curriculum development and progressive education commonly refer to Taba as a disciple of Dewey. Learning and Curriculum Over the course of her career, Taba developed many theories regarding learning. In her seminal book, Curriculum Development Theory and Practice (1962), Taba defined knowledge and classified it into three ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Tragic Heroes Of Hamlet And Oedipus The Tragic Heroes Hamlet and Oedipus A hero in a drama is the focus point throughout the story, someone who technically saves life s and carries pride within them. In Hamlet by Shakespeare and Oedipus Rex by Sophocles they simply create a tragic hero due to their stories having a twist in what a hero turns out to be at the end of the dramatic stories. They have similar issues as well as they have their differences in their stories. Shakespeare and Sophocles create a similar touch to their dramatic heroes, and not only do they write those type of stories but they also create different characteristics to them and defining them in other ways that can be entertaining. Even though in both Hamlet, and Oedipus contain tragic endings, both main characters were viewed as heroes at one point in the story, however the authors did not create a same character each main character has their own characteristics and each author had their way of writing a drama. Shakespeare and Sophocles wrote different things and as well as Shakespeare is known for his poems, he is also known for his dramatic stories with a tragic ending. Hamlet, the son of a king, happens to lose his father while in a short amount of time his mother marries his uncle, the brother of the king of Denmark. While Hamlet is trying to figure out everything, the ghost of his father happens to appear, and it tells him that his uncle the current king of Denmark is the one that caused his death. Similarities And Differences Between 1848-1861 The periods from 1763 1776 and 1848 1861 are similar in that they both share an escalation and polarization problems, but even with the similar they are still different and lack consistency when comparing the two periods in American history. The obvious is that both took place on American soil. The led up to the American Revolution had many issues that the colonies were growing anger over how the British Government handle them. An issue that can be compare between the both would be the Dred Scott v Stanford court case and the trial of the British soldier after the Boston Massacre. The cases are similar in that one side wanted this to be an example for their cause. The colonies wanting the nine soldiers to be killed. While the South wanted Scott ... The South did not want to lose their way of life and felt the only way would be to leave the Union. The similarity in polarization of the two periods is that the farmers both times were on the side of rebellion. The differences is that the American Revoulation was an east verves west, for example North Carolina. The farmers who live in the west hated anything that the eastern city folks supported. The eastern normally supported the British government and big business, so the farmers in the west would just hate the British, because of the fact that people in the eastern supported them. The led up to the Civil War was north verves south. This is showed through all of the compromises leading up to the secession, for example the the Great Compromise of 1850. The North wanted California to enter as a free state. The South feeling that their will lose power in Congress wanted the North to pass stricter laws that would enforce the Fugitive Slave laws. Antigone Moral Conflict Essay Elizabeth Heeb Doctor Pratt Intellectual Heritage I (IH 851) 28 September 2017 Moral Conflict and Internal Change in Antigone Beliefs are not always based on facts that you would find in a textbook they are something that one believes is true. When I first read Sophocles play Antigone, my initial impression of Creon was that his beliefs of the law and the state were rational because of his role as a ruler. But as the play progressed, I began to disagree with his behavior and his values because he only focused on his own moral beliefs rather than considering the beliefs of other people, which could have resolved conflict. I strongly disagree with Zizek because she is viewed as promoting an authority of herself only because of the gender conflict between men and women. Because of Antigone s role as a woman in the Theban culture, she is viewed as demanding and stubborn against Creon s order. But if it were to be a man who opposed Creon, he would be seen as courageous and assertive. Additionally, Antigone justifies her position by claiming that it is her moral duty to bury Polyneices because the last of her kin are gone. She accuses Creon by calling him a tyrant: I never heard it was Zeus Who made that announcement. And it wasn t justice, either. The gods below Didn t lay down this law for human use. And I never thought your announcements Could give you a mere human being Power to trample the gods unfailing, Unwritten laws, (450 456). By Antigone burying Polyneices, she gains the respect and support of people who also believe in honoring the dead and respecting the gods. After Eteocles and Polyneices die in battle, Creon was the next of kin to rule the people of Thebes. After rising to power, he immediately undergoes the destructive effects of power. As a result of this, he becomes irrational in his thoughts and decisions and consequently, he abuses his power. For instance, Creon arrests Ismene solely based on the reason that ... When people are without it, they work hard to eventually get it because they want to become equal to others. Without having the ability to vote, one cannot have a say in what goes on around them. The most powerful period for women and their fight for the right to vote was from 1890 to 1920. Women believed that if they had the same rights as men at that time that all their issues would be solved. They had a lot of troubles and without being able to vote, they believed that they would have difficulties of changing the future for themselves and their daughters. • 14. The Popularity Of Characteristics In Mary Rowlandson s... Captivity narratives are so popular because people find it more interesting to read something that is written in first person. Not only is it important that the narrative is in first person, but the writer is also describing all the events that occurred during their time in captivity, which is very emotional and people enjoy reading things because of that emotional appeal. Captivity is not something that most people want to experience, but people want to read about it so that they have a better understanding of what happens to these victims and even be able to sympathize for them, and maybe provide support for others who have recently been in captivity. I think that most people have a big enough heart to where if they read a captivity narrative, they would feel sympathy towards all people who have been victims of captivity. Most importantly, I believe that captivity narratives are popular and appealing to the reader because throughout the narrative it shows how the victim dealt with the situation, and how they were able to survive captivity until they were found. In Mary Rowlandson s captivity narrative, all of these things are expressed, and she discusses her entire journey through captivity. One of the main things to take away from this narrative is the amount of faith that is portrayed throughout all the difficult times. Anyone who were to read this captivity narrative would recognize how important Rowlandson s faith was to her and her family; even though the Indians did ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Assimilation and Accomodation in Every Interaction The two processes that are involved in every interaction are assimilation and accommodation. This is a process that everyone encounters even though they may not be aware of when it is happening. During preoperational stage of cognitive development, as defined by Piaget, children begin to assimilate as a way of adaptive behavior. They are at the age now where they can begin to really take in new knowledge and new things. They are able to go back to their previous way of thinking, but with some new information. The formation of stable concepts and beginnings of mental reasoning are characteristics of this stage. The child begins to acquire new information and assimilates this information to reach a level of stability. Children s thinking during this period is illogical and they lack the ability to make connections between categories. An example of assimilation would be a child being outside during the day and seeing the bright circle of light coming from the sky and being told by their parent that it is the sun. One night the child is outside and sees the bright circle of light coming from the sky and says it is the sun. The child associates any bright circle of light coming from the sky the sun. • 17. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Chlorine Since chlorine production is corrosive in nature, the anode (chorine is formed) is made using a metal which is non reactive in nature such as titanium, on the other hand cathode (hydroxide ions are formed) is made from a metal which can be easily oxidized such as nickel. In membrane cell, an ion permeable membrane separates cathode and anode. Saturated brine is sent to the compartment with cathode (the anolyte). DC current is passed and the NaCl is broken into its constituent components with the help of this DC current. The membrane sends Na+ ions to anode compartment which is the catholyte, where it forms sodium hydroxide in solution. Only positive ions are allowed to pass through the membrane in order to prevent mixing of NaOH and HCl. Column 1 on Tablet 11 begins the Sumero Babylonian Flood narrative (Gardner 226). The sage Utnapishtim from Shurippak (100 miles south ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Column 2 of Tablet 11 the Sumero Babylonian Flood narrative continues with the measurements and construction of the ark: One acre was its whole floorspace; ten dozen cubits the height of each wall; ten dozen cubits its deck, square on each side. The basket bearers brought on three shars of oil in addition to the shar of oil consumed in the seed meal and the two shars of oil stowed away by the boatman.(Gardner 231) On the seventh day the ark was completed. It was launched, and then loaded with all my kin and family and with the animals of the fields. This ark has twice the number of floors as Noah s ark. After the Jewish Old Testament establishes reasons for the Flood, then it proceeds with specific building instructions to Noah in Genesis 6:14: Make yourself an ark of gopher wood; make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and out with pitch. This is how you are to make it: the length of the ark three hundred cubits, its breadth fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits. Make a roof for the ark, and finish it to a cubit above; and set the door ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. Disagreement Analysis The statement claims that we learn more from people whose views we share than those whose views we contradict because disagreement can cause stress and inhibit learning. Some people think that agreement leads to harmony and learning, while disagreement hinders intellectual progress. I disagree with both the claim and the reason and will discuss situations that illustrate why I consider the statement misguided. I disgree with the view that we learn more from those who share our views than those who contradict it. This comes from my experience being a student in a school in Boston. Although I believe in the Islamic teachings, I, nonetheless, learned a great deal about science, mathematics, ethics, and philosophy from my Christian and Jew professors. Here some might think that engaging in a contentious agrument is what counts as disagreement as opposed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I would argue that, on the countrary, disagreement enhances learning. I recall in an economics class I took the professor guided a debate between myself and my colleage. The subject of the debate was whether we should raise the minimum wage. My view conflicted that of my colleage who thought that we should instead abolish the concept of the minimum wage. My reasoning was that increasing the minimum wage would help the middle class and low income families. But my colleage thought that from the economic theory of demand and price, an increase in the minimum wage would hurt small businesses as they would be less profitable to run, and thus would result in an increase in unemployment. What I learned from our discussion was that even though our views differed drastically, each of us learned about the other s point of view. The experience was both delightful and enlightening. Thus, disagreement does not cause stress and inhibit learning. In fact, the opposite is true; disagreement fosters a learning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. Participatory Culture Through The Media Old media like broadcasting, print, and film created a consumer culture in the public. Participants would consume the media they could find, and that was the extent of their engagement with a piece of media. But during the digital age, participatory culture has exploded. Participatory culture is a concept coined by Henry Jenkins where consumers take part in both the consumption and the production of media. The advent of computers facilitates a low barrier of entry for creation of digital media and its propagation. With the availability of personal computers and consumer level software to manipulate media as well as the popularity of the internet to spread content, fans have become more engaged with the media they consume. In turn, participants can create forms of that media that comment and expand upon the original content. Participants who used to only consume media now have the avenues to become producers of media. In this essay, I will explore participatory culture through the lense of Lev Manovich s Five Principles of New Media: Numerical Representation, Modularity, Automation, Variability, and Transcoding. The first of Manovich s principles is Numerical Representation. A piece of new media can be represented by discrete numbers. For example, an image file is a collection of numbers describing the color of each pixel in the image. A game is a piece of software compiled to 1 s and 0 s that respond and react to input from the user. Anything in digital form is at its based ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From helping people through hard times as a pastor, saving lives as a volunteer EMT, and helping the homeless, Tony is a real hero to people in Delaware County. Growing up Tony had many positive influences as a child. One of the heavier influences was his pastor. He believes that what makes a hero is what examples people have while growing up. His pastor was very engaging with the people at the church. His pastor would call on people to answer questions during the service. One week his pastor had to go tend to some family issues. The pastor asked Tony if he could lead the service while he was gone. Tony said yes and lead the sermon. Doing this made him realize that being a pastor was fun and he decided to become one. He attended a Lutheran College near Minneapolis. He graduated and got married. He moved to Iowa after working at a church there, and has been in Manchester, Iowa for ... He broke both of his legs and could have died if it wasn t for all of the community working together to help get him out of the axle. Seeing the community jumping to his rescue; he saw, first hand, how the fire department helped people. As an EMT, Tony is usually the first arriving on the patient, and [is] the eyes and ears of the scene (Maria Zagorulya). Since Tony is a pastor; he doesn t get called out too often.
