Global Perspectives Course Analysis
This semester, I choose to study Global Cities as my Global Perspectives course for my
sophomore integrated studies requirement. I enjoyed the class and its analysis of the implications
of globalization as well as the specific study of cities in various nations. This course challenged me
to write a research paper that incorporated globalization. The paper was a wonderful aspect of the
course and certainly a challenging one as well. Furthermore, class based discussion was a large
part of the class as well as research regarding the studied cities. Finally, in comparison to my ILA
class, this course was very different and a more welcoming experience. I can imagine my future
Reflections course being a nice continuation of the concepts of globalization... Show more content

I did not enjoy ILA as I felt that it was not necessarily an environment that allowed for an open
dialogue. In ILA the professor had views that often made me feel uncomfortable to speak.
However in GP, I always felt comfortable and always felt that my opinion mattered and was
welcomed during a discussion. In ILA we mainly discussed vegetarianism, veganism, and curiosity.
These were all concepts that were not seen in GP. Within ILA, our professor usually returned to the
topic of religion, specifically death, when discussing another nation or culture. Within GP, our
discussions of other nations ranged from laws to cultural norms, sports, education, innovation,
entertainment, etc. It was a very well rounded discussion that never felt forced. It was an
experience that in my opinion embodied liberal arts because all viewpoints were given equal reign

Overseas Animators Job Growth
The job growth of Multimedia Artists and Animators is growing at a very slow rate, due to the
animation companies and studios hiring artists and animators who work overseas. For those who
are not exactly sure what a Multimedia Artist is or does. A Multimedia Artist/Animator is an artist
who creates [2 Dimensional and 3 Dimensional] animation and visual effects for television, movies,
video games, and other forms of media (www.bls.gov). This is one of the few drawbacks in this
occupation. American animation companies and studios hire overseas animators, since overseas
animators work for a much lower price than American animators. This means the companies and
studios save money. Also, the overseas animators create top of the line animated... Show more

animation market and to be in competition with American animators, and/or because, like
American animators, overseas animators also enjoy exercising their creativity, talents, computer
animation skills and fascinating story telling skills when it comes to animated movies and video
games (Crosby). Also, another reason why the animation studios and companies are hiring
overseas animators could possibly be the fact that 56.9% of animators [are] self employed
(Collegefortn.org). By animators adapting to this effective solution, American self employed
animators, who want to begin their animation companies and studios, can come into collaboration
with aspiring animators, employing teams of fellow animators. This would bring more jobs and
opportunities to American animators. And lastly, the reason why overseas animators are hired by
American animation studios and companies, is due to the fact that in the past decades animation
studios have been sending unfinished animation work to overseas animators to complete. As
said by Tom Crosby, in an article of How Stuff Works titled How Outscoring Works , This isn t a
new trend. It started decades ago when Hollywood studios began sending pre production work to
lowered priced, where the work was polished and completed. Once the independent animators
establish their own businesses and collaborate with their fellow aspiring animators, who embrace
this effective solution, there wouldn t be any unfinished artwork to send to overseas animators.
Since all of the artwork would be completed on due time, by the animators of the companies, there
would not be any uncompleted or discarded artwork to send to overseas animators. This would
bring about a faster pace in the job growth rate of this

Jamaica Research Paper
I chose Jamaican Jews because there are few Jews living in Jamaica today but hundreds of years
ago their were many Jews living there and many of Jews that live in Canada today, have ancestors
leading back to Jamaica. Today the estimated total population of Jews living in Jamaica is between
200 424,000. This essay will discuss the pull factors that influenced Jewish immigration to Jamaica,
how they organized and the push factors that caused them to leave from the time the first Jewscame
to Jamaica in 1494 1655 until today.
Before their were any Jews in Jamaica they were living all around the world in countries like
Spain, Germany, Poland and France. They were forced to leave these countries due to anti
semitism, war and Spanish Inquisition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One main push factor is that the jewish community in jamaica was never big. This is good and
bad for a lot of reasons: Having a small jewish community meant that everyone would be
generally close with one another similar to a small, closely knit town. A small Jewish community
also meant that if you were looking to marry jewish that you wouldn t have as many options as
you would in a bigger jewish community. Another push factor is that when the jews first arrived in
jamaica they had to conceal their identity and refer to themselves as Portuguese or Spanish and had
to practice their religion secretly before the british conquest of the island in 1655 but after that
were allowed to practice judaism openly. This was also vital to the Jews because that s exactly
what they were fleeing from in their old countries. How could someone enjoy life if the things
they loved to do had to be done in secrecy or else they would be prosecuted, that s exactly what
the jews were trying to find; a country that would allow them to be who they are. The last minor
push factor was that their weren t many shuls and this was a problem because depending on where
you lived it could be hard to get to one. This was later fixed when the Jewish population increased
near the year

Philipus Paracelsus Research Paper
Philippus Aureolus Theophrastus Bombastus von Hohenheim, usually known as Paracelsus,
was born in Einsiedeln, Switzerland on either the 11th November or 17th December 1493. This
was the time of the Renaissance. He died on the 24th September 1541. During this period of
time surgery was practiced mostly by barbers, who used the same tools for both their trades.
Medicine was primitive and painful in this era. There was much controversy over how to
manage wounds, for example the argument of whether or not pus was good. Cauterization, or
the burning of a wound to close it, was the main way to stop bleeding. All in all, most medicinal
views were based off of unproved theories. Magic was not used in healing at this time as witch
burnings were still taking place. It was very taboo, and had no place in healing where he worked.
As a wizard, Paracelsus is credited... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He opposed most of the normal beliefs of his time, instead saying that illness was the result of the
body being attacked by agents from outside the body. He was against excessive bloodletting, saying
that the process disturbed the harmony of our systems, and that our blood could not be purified by
having decreasing the amount within us. He spent some time as a military surgeon, where doctors
thought that infection was a natural part of the healing process. He stood for cleanliness and
protection of wounds and the regulation of diet. The popular ideas of that time opposed these
theories and suggested sewing or plastering wounds instead. Paracelsus introduced the use of
chemicals and minerals in medicine. His views were that sickness and health in the body relied on
the harmony of man (microcosm) and nature (macrocosm). He used this analogy not in the manner
of soul purification (as the others of his time did) but in the manner that humans must have certain
balances of minerals in their bodies, and that certain illnesses had chemical remedies that could cure

Analysis Of The Art Of War By Sun Tzu
Book Analysis: The Art of War by Sun Tzu Ancient Chinese scholar Sun Tzu wrote The Art of
War more than 2000 years earlier, probably for kings, generals and solders of his time. However,
this book is still relevant in this high tech modern world. It has still a powerful energy to work as a
useful guidance for modern times. The Art of Waris actually about struggles and confrontation we
all go through in our daily lives. We as all face same kinds of dilemmas in our hearts and minds
when it comes to compete with real life challenges. Though the book was compiled as a military
advice in ancient times, it has potential to function as practical guide in all facets of life even
today. This book is guide for victory in life, but it is also about the art of war. At the same time, it
is all about self awareness. It says know the enemy and know yourself; in in hundred battles you
will never be in peril . This is how Sun Tzuemphasises the importance of knowing about yourself.
To be able to be a winner in the challenges of life it is important to know your strengths and
weakness. If you are know yourself very well you should not worry about anything. Sun Tzu has
made it very clear that half battle is won when you have a better understanding of yourself.
However, if you neither know about yourself nor about your enemy, it means you are at a very
high risk every time you enter a competition. Therefore, to be successful in life, one must be aware
about both himself and the opposing

Reconciliation Action Plan
Reconciliation Action Plan The goals and visions behind my reconciliation action plan was to
bring the two sides of Aboriginal and non Aboriginal Australians together in equality and harmony.
Since the colonisation of Australia there has been a vast divide between the two sides that has
caused many serious outcomes for Aboriginal people. My way of contributing to this is to create a
better understanding, restore trust and eradicate racism as a positive way to help close the gap
between Aboriginal and non Aboriginal Australias. The reason for this report was to explain the
steps that were taken to create and implement this action plan and the outcomes. My three actions

For my first event I took a friend to a movie night hosted by the Notre Dame Student Association
and students from the Aboriginal People unit. They organised a free viewing a movie by John
Pilger called Utopia and a follow up survey. This extraordinary film gives a deep insight into the
First Australians struggles of harsh dispossession and the ongoing deaths and poverty. Pilger
puts the hard word on many members of the Australian government who are responsible for
many deaths, explorations, betrayals and breaches to Aboriginal peoples human rights. This
film was very moving and had a great impact on myself who had already studied a lot of this
content but seeing it again in a different way opened my eyes even more to the sadness and grief
suffered by Aboriginal people due to discrimination and lack of justice. As for my friend she was
greatly saddened and shocked by what she has seen. Coming from a very English background she
expressed feeling somewhat guilty about what had happened and how disappointed she was in the
Australian government on this matter. The movie inspired a lengthy conversation about the
importance of righting past wrongs for Aboriginal people and spreading awareness to her family
and friends. It was also interesting to discover that when moving to Australian from England in
2010 that she had noticed a great deal of racism towards

Online Learning Vs. Traditional Classroom Education
Imagine waking up, eating breakfast, going to school, and completing your course work without
leaving the comfort of your home or even your pajamas. The idea of attending school online and at
personal convenience is an option that many high school and college students have difficulty
passing up. In today s education system, students have the option to attend school in a traditional
classroom setting or attend online in the comfort of their own homes. Both options have their
benefits. However, in most cases, a traditional classroom education better prepares students K 12 for
their futures by encouraging self discipline and communication between teachers and peers. Online
learning, also known as distance learning, is growing rapidly throughout the United States. The
2012 survey of online learning determined that the number of students taking at least one online
course has now surpassed 6.7 million (Online Learning Consortium, 2012). With the 2014 online
learning statistics being released on February 5, it is expected that the number of students has
grown significantly in the past two years and is only set to increase into 2015. A traditional
classroom setting exposes students to what it will be like in their future workplace. In a classroom,
students are expected to communicate face to face with their peers and teachers. Every time
students attend school in a traditional classroom, they interact with their peers and learn what it is
like to work amongst people that they

Analysis Of Joan Rivers By The New York Daily News
As per an article highlighting Joan Rivers prolific death in 2014 by the New York Daily News
(NYDN) (2015), Joan s daughter, Melissa Rivers, has filed a multimillion dollar lawsuit against
both the clinic at which her mother was falsely operated upon and the group of physicians who
treated her. In her claims, as noted by the NYDN (2015), her 81 year old mother s death was
completely preventable and was due to completely ambiguous, amateur mistakes committed by
those who operated upon her. In the official documents obtained by the New York Daily News,
Melissa has filed accounts of malpractice against the clinic Yorkville Endoscopy (the clinic
where her mother was treated) and the five physicians involved in the case. The clinic and the
five physicians aforementioned have been recognized as the defendants in this litigation. In
Melissa s belief, according to the NYDN (2015), the coma that aroused her mother s death was
triggered by the negligent and impulsive behaviors of the physicians and the clinic that housed
her during her diagnostic procedure. According to reports, Joan Rivers, who incurred days of an
abnormal hoarseness of her voice, sought diagnosis of a possible medical condition at an
outpatient facility situated in the Upper East Side of New York City by the name of Yorkville

The Cosmic Race By Jose Vasconcelos
As we begin to go on an excursion through literature, it is important to understand the concept of
what an ethnography is. Ethnography is known to be a descriptive type of work that analyzes
culture and customs of individual people. James Clifford has implemented this work into his
studies and has influenced many others to do the same. I saw through the books I have read,
ethnography makes these books become vivacious for a reader. In The Cosmic Race, by Jose
Vasconcelos, he discusses throughout the book about numerous races and emphasizes that the fifth
raceknown to be mestizo would overpower any race, and dominate the future. Although, throughout
the book he argues reasons why one race would be on top of the pyramid, he contradicts himself
numerous times in his arguments that leaves readers questioning, and a little confused. His writing
style is somewhat jumbled that it takes time to grasp what he is trying to convey. Overall, it was a
bizarre reading that it was hard to grasp his ideas, and had my mind in a labyrinth. First,
Vasconcelos mentions these four main races; Mongols, blacks, whites, and Native Americans. Also,
he states that Latin Americans have begun interracial relationships that have created the mestizo or
a mixed race. In the reading, he mentions that mestizo races will slowly evanescent white people
from the top of the hierarchy or pyramid as the prominent race. He quotes, Whites will try to take
advantage of their inventions for

The Trauma of Killing Essay
The United States military continues to engage in one of the longest periods of combat operations
in our nation s history. One of the results is an increase in the amount of persons suffering Post
traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). According to the American Psychiatric Association (APA)
(2000), a precursor to PTSD is the experience of an event or events that involved actual or
threatened death or serious injury to self or others. Grossman (2009) argues that an additional
factor, the emotional and spiritual response to killing another humanbeing, also takes a tremendous
toll on the mental health of returning soldiers. Forty eight to sixty five percent of soldiers returning
from Operation Enduring Freedom have reported killing an enemy... Show more content on

In addition to their role as the official motto of the United States Military Academy at West Point,
the words Duty, Honor, (and) Country serve to embody the conditioning that each recruit, both
officer and enlisted, undergoes in all military branches. Each soldier is taught that they have an
absolute responsibility to their fellow soldiers and the country they serve and to fail to uphold
that responsibility can never be justified. This fear of failure, writes Grossman (2009) is one of
the primary means the military uses to overcome soldier s innate aversion to killing other human
beings. It is also the fear that allows soldier s to overcome the fear of death and take heroic
actions (Nash, 2007). When a soldier perceives he has failed to live up to these standards, shame
may result.
The Stages of Killing
Grossman (2009) writes that killing involves a series of emotions, beginning with concern
before the killing, and followed by exhilaration, remorse, rationalization, and acceptance
following the killing. Before a soldier kills for the first time, he or she will often have concerns
regarding whether he or she will satisfactorily perform his or her duties or will let down fellow
fighters by freezing or in some other fashion failing to properly engage the enemy. This fear of
failure is generally mixed with the general fear of being killed or injured and

In the advertisement the company pitches these lines Your left hand plans ahead. Your right hand

Women of the world, raise your right hand. The intended target market appeals to women who feel
as if it is their job is to show the world what a real woman can accomplish. Not only do the
marketers use pathos to instill an emotion into women flipping through the pages of a massive
magazine full of ads, but they use an African American woman.
This campaign appeals to wealthy white women but the seemingly left out population of wealthy
black women also. The woman portrayed in the ad with her right hand bent looks strikingly
familiar to the campaign from Rosie the Riveter, we can do it. Rosie the riveter is known as a hard
working woman during the Industrial Revolution. She is the quintessence of a strong woman.
Older women will pick up on this if they remember the campaign picture. The right hand ring
empowers women to another level of class and sophistication. Not only is the model showing the
diamonds status but also it s strength. It screams silently, I am a woman of influence so take notice.

Recommendation Of A Company On Aerospace Manufacturing...
I recommend to the board to buy a stock in Boeing. Boeing is a well established aerospace
manufacturing company with a high dividend yield. It had made substantial positive gains. Some
of Boeing s strengths include strong market position, increase in global aerospace and defense
spending, increase in passenger travel, decreased expenses, and increased operational performance.
I believe our company will benefit from Boeings high dividend yield and receive positive gains.
Aerospace manufacturing is an industry aimed towards markets that produce commercial jetliners,
defense aircraft, space systems, and other related products. The two major markets are Aerospace
and defense. Several manufacturing companies and suppliers are well known for producing and
supplying the aircrafts that are used every day. Some of these major players have contracts in place
to produce aircraft with government and air transportation companies. Some of the same major
companies also have contracts with smaller companies to produce certain products.
Transportation aircraft would be considered the biggest segment of the aircraft industry. These
aircrafts vary in size and in function and are responsible for transporting people and freight all
over the world. The airline industry plays a pivotal role in the success of aerospace products, with
NASA and the Department of Defense being the largest United States customers of aerospace
technology and products.

Reasons For The Collapse Of The Roman Empire
The Roman Empire was at one point the envy of the ancient world. At it s peak in 117 C.E, the
empire spanned from western Europe to northern Africa, through the Mediterranean Sea and into
western Asia. From about 27 B.C.E. to 476 C.E.. Rome was notorious for holding the name of the
world s greatest empire, as Ancient Romeoftentimes furnished civilians with essential necessities
such as jobs, food, and spices. Moreover, forms of entertainment including, holding a plenitude of
concerts and plays were provided to Roman citizens. However, this era of opulence quickly ceased
and conflicts began to emerge through the empire. In turn, by 500 C.E. , the western half of the
empire had begun to collapse, as did the eastern part of the empire after another thousand years. The
three fundamental elements that justify the collapse of the Roman Empireinclude the economic and
social problems, political instability, as well as the weakening frontiers the civilization had within.
One main factor on as to why the Roman empire fell was because of the flood of economic and
social problems the civilization faced. The overwhelming majority of people had been excluded
from playing an active role in their own government...could not serve in the army (Doc 1). With a
large portion of the inhabitants of the Roman Empire not having the ability to be a part of the
government and/or not join the army, contention began to spark amongst the public. One can

Army Respect Research Paper
Respect is important in the army Respect can either bring a unit moral up or disrespect can
bring the moral of the unit down. Respect is a word that holds a lot of weight with people. I have
looked up respect but I have taken respect from the army value and broke it down into little
pieces. Treat people as they should be treated. This part of respect is the backbone to me and is a
very important part in the army. By treating people as they should be treated is what keeps us as
soldiers and senior leader s level. Yes, we do have to understand that there is a rank structure but we
also need to know that we are people to. Treating people with respect also helps us know that we as

Analysis Of Graeme Turner s Understanding Celebrity
Introduction
A celebrity is defined by the media and society through characterisations; the introduction of various
on line and print media platforms enhance the presence of celebrity culture, such for advertising,
activism, different genres of television (e.g. reality, gastronomical), and even political avenues as
well (Driessens). Their fame is developed based on prominence cum establishment in the
entertainment industry that transforms their recognition into a popular culture. In Graeme Turner s
Understanding Celebrity, he discusses the effects of contemporary popular culturerepresenting
celebrity as an icon of cultural change (Turner Understanding Celebrity). The power of a celebrity
uses his status and popularity to create discourse with the public and media; how each present
themselves to an audience in performances or marketing, these functions as general tokens of
success in their glamourous lives (Driessens). The discursive effect in the celebrity contemporary
culture aligns close to religion, with some qualities credited to particular celebrities and religious
figures. The way some fans admire their celebrity figures reflects a spiritual experience, as fans
view their idol as a person with immortal talents and influential qualities. This phenomenon is
linked to how the media glorifies the celebrity and thus, produces a celebrated figure with an
astounding influence amongst the public (Turner Understanding Celebrity). As a result, the
celebrity s economic value is

Why Is Modern Day Slavery Today
In 1865, the 13th Amendment to the United States Constitution ended the institution of slavery.
Eventhough it was abolished, modern day slavery still exists and has evolved under a different
appearance and is known as Human Trafficking in today s society. It still harms people all around
the world.
Slavery has been continueing for centruies and forces humans to work under bad conditions.
Each year, thousands of people are trafficked across borders or internally, and exploited for
cheap labor or sexual services. People are forced to work in factories, domestic work,
agriculture. Children are taken away from their school life, education and used for child
soldiers, child marriage and child domestic slavery. Even as a child, they are forced to work or
any kind of thing that come to our mind. There are 10 millions children appointed, and more that
we have not reached yet. Women are forced into prostitution, marriage, to work under hard
conditions. There are estimated 40.3 million people in modern slavery all around the world. It is
modern day slavery with more slaves at work today than there has ever been at any point in history.

Using Devices Used For Chemical Reactions
In the material industry, energy efficiency, production cost, and sustainability have become very
important factors now a days. There is an increasing acceptance of microwave technique due to its
fast processing, simplicity, energy efficiency and cost effectiveness. It is a tool that not only
provides solutions to industry but also attracts materials chemists who are looking for better and
reliable methods to access new and potentially useful materials. Microwaves devices designed
specifically for chemical synthesisthus make things easier for industrial and academic chemists
alike.1 So, this technique becomes a widely accepted energy source for performing chemical
reactions.
Although microwave synthesis is relatively a modern technique, the first synthetic application was
reported in 1971.2 However, considerable attention in the field was observed in 1986 when
significant rate acceleration was achieved for reactions carried out in a conventional microwave
oven.3 This success aroused scientist to develop more advanced microwave devices designed for
chemical synthesis. Since then microwave is getting more common technique in organic synthesis
and solution phase chemistry.4,5,6 Organic reactions such as esterification, etherification,
hydrolysis, substitution reactions and Diels Alder reactions have been studied in the microwave
oven and relevant examples can be found in the literature. The application of microwave is not

market of vehicles which have automatic transmission. It also helped me to learn about the pros
and cons of using an automatic or a manual transmission. Being a learner of mechanical
engineering, this study will help me for my future endeavours. What is a Manual Transmission? A
car in which there is a manual clutch pedal used while changing gears that allow the driver to

Manual modes also avoid the power requirement of the hydraulic control system, by relying on
the human muscle power of the vehicle operator to disengage the clutch and actuate the gear
levers. Thus the manual transmission requires very little engine power to function, with the main
power consumption due to drag from the gear train being in the lubricating oil of the gearbox.
Advantages of automatic transmission 1. Automatic transmission is very comfortable as the
driver need not worry about the clutch and there is no need to manually change the gears with
changing speeds. This adds a lots of convenience and driving pleasure in city traffic . 2.It requires
lesser skills to drive an automatic transmission car compared to manual transmission car as the
gears are changed automatically by the transmission system of the car so the driver needs to
operate just the accelerator, brake and steering. The driver need not coordinate for the gears as per
speed and does not need to operate the clutch pedal. Disadvantages of an automatic

Unferth Analysis
Nobility of Unferth
Unferth is presented halfway through the book Grendel. His presence is significant as it is the
first sign of mental equality with Grendel and another person. He is a hero of his own land and
personally believes this. Unferth is seen as a character of nobility, however he is also a foolish
human which shows through his actions when he challenges grendel, his personal definition of a
hero, along with his character during battle. When Grendel is challenged by Unferth, it is seen as
honorable and brave, however he is quickly frightened which can be seen as Gardner explains He
glanced behind him, making sure he knew exactly where the window was (Gardner). This shows us
Unferth is cautious and anxious about Grendel s presence. Throughout the apple battle, Grendel
rapidly displays superiority when he scares Unferth by throwing apples as a joke when he wanted
to battle. Unferth becomes impatient with Grendel, aggravated at the lack of professionalism. This

endured as Iberians during the 15th to 16th century entered and ravaged their world. As the Spanish
empire spread their colonies into the Americas, many Indigenous peoples suffered the wake of the
Spanish thirst for power and profit. Iberians depicted the Indigenous peoplesas naГЇve and inferior
because Iberians believed they were religiously and socially superior on the account of
Christianity and their assessment of a civilized culture. Caused by this superiority complex, the
Indigenous peoples were subjected to many hardships. Iberians had many preconceived ideas of
the Indigenous peoples but had accepted them as likewise subjects of the crown if they accepted
Christianity. Iberians had new found respect for the Indigenous peoples as they had established
advanced societies and ways of life, blaming bad religion as their only hamartia. Many Iberians,
specifically Christopher Columbus, an Italian explorer who is falsely credited with the discovery of
the Americas, believed, ...they would easily be made Christians [because]...they had no creed
(RR, p. 11). Hence, they presumed Indigenous peoples needed guidance as they were capable of
redemption and conversion. As a result of the arrival of the Portuguese in Brazil, Iberians went as
far as to paint one of the first appearances of an Indigenous person in a European painting. In the
painting, Magi in Brazil by Vasco Fernandes

Chaucer s Parody To Courtly Love Essay example
Chaucer s Parody To Courtly Love
After the Knight tells his story, the Miller insists very rudely to tell his tale. Chaucer uses the
aspect of courtly love which is found in the Knights tale and makes a parody of it; He uses the
Miller?s character to mock the Knights idea of courtly love.
Miller describes the heroine of his story Alison, as a wife of an older man and also an infidel.
She?s compared to a ?wezele? sly and cunning. The description of Alison clearly indicates that she
is very different from an innocent girl from courtly love stories instead she?s well aware of her
husbands jealousy and wears elaborate cloths to show off her beauty.

Miller firstly describes Nicholas as a young scholar who stays as a paying guest with the carpenter,
?And al above ther lay a gay sautrie,?he mad a nightes melodie?
Nicholas is described to have a decorated room, he is a lively man and depends on his friends as he
cant afford to pay all of his rent.
Chaucer continuously uses the word ?hende? when ever he refers to
Nicholas this word would usually mean gentle but as we see that
Nicholas is not described to be courteous or gracious the word is ironically used to suggest that he
is sly and opportunist. Again there is no sign of a hero from courtly love romances.
Nicholas openly expresses his lust to Alison ?love me al atones, or I wol dyen?. Again reflecting
back to the Knights tale in which the lovers stay calm and modestly await the time till when they
can get their love. But here Miller completely mocks that idea of the Knight and so makes a parody
out of it. Alison who at first refuses to kiss
Nicholas then within seconds agrees to sleeping with him, Nicholas very easily persuades Alison
?spak so faire, and profred him so faste,? Chaucer shows how the miller parody?s this with the
courtly love tale of the Knight as Emily in the Knights tale is extremely innocent about matters of
love.
The second lover that the Miller introduces is Absolon who is suppose to be a parish clerk but has
extraordinary talents. He takes more care of his appearance

Taco Belly Eating Habits
It all started with a little bragging in study hall as most challenges do. It was Cam who first told

How Is Foreign Aid Beneficial
Foreign Aid: Where do we draw the line
The actual definition of Foreign Aid is money, food, or other resources given or lent by one
country to another, but it is a broad topic that looks different for every country that receives it.
While it is a great thing in concept, it often runs into problems when it is put into practice. The
country that gives the aid (the benefactor), usually doesn t realize or try to fix the problems that
these problems cause the other country (the beneficiary). Like everything in this world, it has
benefits and drawbacks and although it does impact the country that provides aid, ultimately, the
bigger concern is the country who receives it.Is it actually helpful, or is it a waste of time? What
is the difference between helping and harming? Foreign Aid often walks a fine line, and there are
many factors like corruption, poor planning, greed, and ulterior motives can do more harm to a
country than good.
The biggest problem with foreign aid isn t finding a country to provide it, but finding an effective
way to supply aid that helps all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Importance Of Setting Goals Through Treatment Planning
When a client attends an agency/program for the first time, the attending clinician performs an
assessment. The assessment is essential because it allows the clinician to know and understand
the clients history. The clinician needs to know what the client is here for, if this is a hereditary
trait, how long the client has been dealing with this issue, and etc. After this is performed, the
client and clinician will create a treatment plan. In this paper I will discuss the importance of
setting goals through treatment planning and how through evidence based practice, one will be
able to determine of the client has been reaching their goals. I will be demonstrating this through
a client who would be dual diagnosed. What dual diagnosed means is that an individual has both
a mental illness and is using substance/alcohol. Dual diagnosed is broad because it can mean that
someone can be diagnosed with schizophrenia and alcohol, diagnosed with bipolar and heroin, or
diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder and cocaine. It does not matter what their diagnosis
and usage is. If the individual is using and has a mental illness, they are considered dual diagnosed
also known as Mentally Ill Chemical Abusers (MICA). As previously stated, after performing as
assessment with the client, a treatment plan needs to take place. This treatment plan can be devised
between client and clinician or with client and the staff at the program. Treatment planning plays a

Treasury Bonds And The National Debt
Daniel Hysinger
US Treasury Bonds and the National Debt
The U.S. Treasury bond is a low interest way for the government to borrow money. The bond,
along with Treasury notes and bills, form the Securities which the Federal government borrows
from lenders for a set amount of time. Issued by the Department of the Public Debt, a subset of the
US Treasury, they are usually issued in 30 year maturities which pay interest twice yearly. Because
the debt obligation is backed by the tax generating, money printing, and understandably trusted
government of the United States, bonds are generally considered to be a safe or virtually no risk
investment. Thanks to this low risk attribute however, bonds are regarded as very low yield
security, which is exactly why it is a good instrument for the United States government to employ,
as long as it can turn a relatively decent profit on the initial investment. According to the September
30th, 2014 report of Monthly Statement of the Public Debt of the United States, the amount of
Treasury Bonds outstanding totaled $8,167,759 million, I ll call it roughly $8.2 trillion. This
number composes the majority of the combined $12.7 trillion of US Treasury securities
outstanding. These securities outstanding are also known as the national debt. The numbers listed
above, and throughout this paper will disregard debt being owed to intra governmental holdings of
the US, as bonds make up a minuscule (in comparison, only $7.6 million) fraction of what they

Building A Financial Portfolio For A Hypothetical Client
Introduction This report will lay out the various steps involved in construction a financial
portfolio for a hypothetical client. This report will lay out the various steps involved, right from
the acquisition of the client, to the constructing of a portfolio, and back testing that portfolio to
see how the portfolio performed over the most recent one or three year period. The process of
portfolio management involves a lot of subjective and objective analysis, especially when dealing
with individual high net worth clients. While the definition of a high net worth client varies, it is
usually taken to mean an individual with more than $1 million of investable assets excluding
collectibles, consumer durables and the primary residence (The Guardian, 2014). For the purpose
of this report, our hypothetical client has the following characteristics: Age: 56 Employment
Status: Employed Time Horizon: 25 years Investable Assets: $5 million Domicile: London, United
Kingdom Years to Retirement: 5 Level of Risk Aversion: High Other preferences: Not looking for
capital growth, mainly income with low volatility; Prefer passive investing The objective of any
portfolio manager is to maximize return for a given level of risk, or minimize risk to achieve a
certain level of return. The objectives relate to making decisions about the investment mix,
matching investments to objectives, and balancing risk versus performance (CFA Society, 2010).

to drive prices up, market forces reflecting little change in supply and demand acted quickly, and
crude oil prices eased within little more than a week. Average crude oil prices paid by U.S.

After moving lower in 2001, crude oil prices moved higher in 2002 reaching over $30 per barrel

action would be taken against Iraq that would disrupt the supply of crude oil to the market. With
that issue still not settled as 2002 drew to a close, crude oil prices continued to find support.

The Importance Of Spiritual Discipline
God intends the Disciplines of the spiritual life to be for ordinary human beings: people who
have jobs, who care for children, who wash dishes and mow lawns (Foster, 1998, Page 1).
Spiritual Discipline should be a natural part of the Christian life, not a process that one only
practices on Sunday at church. Just as a prize fighter must train by exercising, eating right and
meditating on the big fight, so should Christians when it comes to our spiritual discipline.
Spiritual Discipline is a process that takes the believer from sinful existence into a Christ like life
that is pleasing to God. Spiritual formation is the link that connects mankind to God. If that link is
severed, the believer is exposed to sin thus causing one to live a life outside of the will of God.
Although spiritual discipline is the cornerstone to self discipline, it is also vital to living a life
with balanced spiritual formation. Balanced spiritual formation is cultivated in the company of
like minded comrades and sensitive confidants (Pettit, 2008, Page 78). This message goes together
with Hebrews 10:24 25 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good
deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one

The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer
In his novel The Canterbury Tales, Geoffrey Chaucer presents the corruption of the Catholic
Church through several of his characters. Chaucer lived in a time of controversial indulgences, a
way to pay off sins. Chaucer s tales show his opposition to these sinful behaviors that he believed
were common among the clergy. In order to protest against sinful behavior and religious corruption,
Chaucer uses characters such as the pardoner, the friar, the summoner, and the prioress to show the
lack of morality and faith among the clergy, and presents the parson as an example of how to
correct corruption of the Catholic Church. Chaucer demonstrates corruption of the clergy through
the pardoner who is a sinner since he deceives the innocent through greed, which at the time was a
mortal sin. Chaucer describes the pardoner as having a bunch of relics in his pouch such as a
croys of latoun, full of stones (GP 699). However, Chaucer retorts, But with thise relikes, whan that
he fond A povre person dwellynge upon lond, Upon a day he gat hym moore moneye
Than that the person gat in monthes tweye (GP 701 704).
Here, Chaucer calls the pardoner a liar who uses false relics to collect money from people he
meets who are trying to repent of their sins. The pardoner is even more appalling because he
preaches against greed, yet he is guilty of that very sin when he tricks the innocent into giving him
large amounts of money by using these false relics. Chaucer characterizes the pardoner as

The Relationship Between Art And The Renaissance Art
The connection between art and science is one of the most characteristic features of the
Renaissance culture. The truthful image of the world and man had to be based on their knowledge,
so the cognitive beginning played an especially important role in the art of this time. Naturally, the
artists sought support in the sciences, often stimulating their development.
The Renaissance is a time of great discoveries, great masters and their outstanding works. It is
marked by the appearance of a whole galaxy of artists scientists, among whom Leonardo da Vinciis
the first.
Fine art in the Renaissance reaches unprecedented heyday. This is due to the economic upsurge,
with a huge shift that has occurred in the minds of people who have turned to the cult of earthly
life and beauty. The visual art of the Renaissance in many ways represents a contrast to the
medieval. It marks the emergence of realism for a long time determined the development of
European artistic culture. This affected not only the spread of secular images, the development of
portrait and landscape or a new, sometimes almost genre interpretation of religious subjects, but
also in the radical renewal of the entire artistic system. In the Renaissance, an objective image of
the world was seen by the eyes of a man, so one of the important problems facing artists was the
problem of space. In Italy, already in the first half of the century, a scientific theory of linear
perspective based on geometry and optics was created.

Describe The Relationship Between Termites And Dermatobia...
1. A phoretic relationship is when two different species, who benefit from one another, travel
together throughout their relationship. An example of phoresis is the species of fly, Dermatobia
hominis. The fly attaches the larvae to another insect such as a mosquito and when the mosquito
travels and feeds on an animal or human, the eggs hatch and the larvae burrows itself into it s skin.
2. Mutualism is when both parties of the relationship benefit from the association. Obligatory
mutualism is when both species depend on one another in the relationship because otherwise they
would not be able to survive alone.
3. The obligatory relationship between termites and gut protozoa is very important. Termites bodies
do not produce the necessary enzymes that are essential in digesting the cellulose in wood. The
protozoa that live inside the gut of the termite, however, secrete the same enzyme that is ... Show

Protozoa can reproduce both sexually and asexually and can go back and forth between the two
depending on its environment. With asexual reproduction protozoa reproduce by binary fission.
Some use multiple fission, also known as mergony or shizogony. The resulting daughter cells are
called merozoites. Another type of multiple fission called sporogony where meiosis occurs before
mitosis.
16. When the union of whole cell gametes are similar they are called isogametes. When they differ
they are called anisogametes.
17. Two individual ciliates unite and fuse their pellicles at the point of contact. The macronucleus in
each ciliate disintegrate and then the micronuclei undergo meiosis to produce four haploid
pronuclei and two of four of these pronuclei degenerate. The migratory pronucleus from each
individual ciliate moves into the other to fuse with the stationary pronucleus and restores the
diploid status. The cells then separate and undergo nuclear division to produce macronuclei. The
resulting cells are called exconjugates and are now ready to undergo sexual

Stereotypes Of Dracula In Bram Stoker s Dracula
Bleh Bleh Bleh What does the notorious bloodsucking Dracula have in common with the
attractive vampires that are shown in the movie Twilight? A lot actually, not only do they share
the same name of Vampire or Undead , they also share the same powers and needs. The vampire
genre has gone a long way, specifically with books like Bram Stoker s Dracula. It first started out as
folklore and then it turned into a popular topic of writing in early European culture. Bram Stoker
then combined what he could into one classic vampirethat is widely known today. Even in today s
modern generation, Bram Stoker s widely known character Dracula continues to be used as the
classic vampire that is an example of a basis for the undead . In Bram Stoker s... Show more content

Clarson makes a point of talking about the fangs being sharp, proving that it is a way to identify
a vampire such as the Count. This continues to persist throughout the genre, a vampire has the
need for blood so it turns to a victim and takes advantage of them, while also turning the victim
into a vampire as well. This shows that Bram Stoker has successfully created a stereotype of
fangs that are used to feed off the blood of victims that continues through this genre. There is
something about burning red eyes of a blood hungry undead that just manages to stick with the
whole vampire stereotypes. Despite not knowing that it was dracula, Jonathan Harker had met
up with Dracula and had taken a lot of acknowledgement to the dark fire like eyes of the Count.
Jonathan describes the scene of him meeting the count for the first time, I could only see the
gleam of a pair of very bright eyes, which seemed red in the lamplight, as he turned to us (Stoker
10). This proves that the eyes are a first expression that comes to Harkers mind when he first sees
the Count. The stereotype of vampires having red eyes is probably one of the most known
stereotypes when it comes to the undead and the vampire genre. The burning red eyes show a sense
of character in the vampires, giving them an evil quality that strikes fear into those who look into
them. Another

  • 2. Global Perspectives Course Analysis This semester, I choose to study Global Cities as my Global Perspectives course for my sophomore integrated studies requirement. I enjoyed the class and its analysis of the implications of globalization as well as the specific study of cities in various nations. This course challenged me to write a research paper that incorporated globalization. The paper was a wonderful aspect of the course and certainly a challenging one as well. Furthermore, class based discussion was a large part of the class as well as research regarding the studied cities. Finally, in comparison to my ILA class, this course was very different and a more welcoming experience. I can imagine my future Reflections course being a nice continuation of the concepts of globalization... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I did not enjoy ILA as I felt that it was not necessarily an environment that allowed for an open dialogue. In ILA the professor had views that often made me feel uncomfortable to speak. However in GP, I always felt comfortable and always felt that my opinion mattered and was welcomed during a discussion. In ILA we mainly discussed vegetarianism, veganism, and curiosity. These were all concepts that were not seen in GP. Within ILA, our professor usually returned to the topic of religion, specifically death, when discussing another nation or culture. Within GP, our discussions of other nations ranged from laws to cultural norms, sports, education, innovation, entertainment, etc. It was a very well rounded discussion that never felt forced. It was an experience that in my opinion embodied liberal arts because all viewpoints were given equal reign within a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Overseas Animators Job Growth The job growth of Multimedia Artists and Animators is growing at a very slow rate, due to the animation companies and studios hiring artists and animators who work overseas. For those who are not exactly sure what a Multimedia Artist is or does. A Multimedia Artist/Animator is an artist who creates [2 Dimensional and 3 Dimensional] animation and visual effects for television, movies, video games, and other forms of media (www.bls.gov). This is one of the few drawbacks in this occupation. American animation companies and studios hire overseas animators, since overseas animators work for a much lower price than American animators. This means the companies and studios save money. Also, the overseas animators create top of the line animated... Also, another reason why the animation studios and companies are hiring overseas animators could possibly be the fact that 56.9% of animators [are] self employed (Collegefortn.org). By animators adapting to this effective solution, American self employed animators, who want to begin their animation companies and studios, can come into collaboration with aspiring animators, employing teams of fellow animators. This would bring more jobs and opportunities to American animators. And lastly, the reason why overseas animators are hired by American animation studios and companies, is due to the fact that in the past decades animation studios have been sending unfinished animation work to overseas animators to complete. As said by Tom Crosby, in an article of How Stuff Works titled How Outscoring Works , This isn t a new trend. It started decades ago when Hollywood studios began sending pre production work to lowered priced, where the work was polished and completed. Once the independent animators establish their own businesses and collaborate with their fellow aspiring animators, who embrace this effective solution, there wouldn t be any unfinished artwork to send to overseas animators. Since all of the artwork would be completed on due time, by the animators of the companies, there would not be any uncompleted or discarded artwork to send to overseas animators. This would bring about a faster pace in the job growth rate of this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Jamaica Research Paper I chose Jamaican Jews because there are few Jews living in Jamaica today but hundreds of years ago their were many Jews living there and many of Jews that live in Canada today, have ancestors leading back to Jamaica. Today the estimated total population of Jews living in Jamaica is between 200 424,000. This essay will discuss the pull factors that influenced Jewish immigration to Jamaica, how they organized and the push factors that caused them to leave from the time the first Jewscame to Jamaica in 1494 1655 until today. Before their were any Jews in Jamaica they were living all around the world in countries like Spain, Germany, Poland and France. They were forced to leave these countries due to anti semitism, war and Spanish Inquisition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One main push factor is that the jewish community in jamaica was never big. This is good and bad for a lot of reasons: Having a small jewish community meant that everyone would be generally close with one another similar to a small, closely knit town. A small Jewish community also meant that if you were looking to marry jewish that you wouldn t have as many options as you would in a bigger jewish community. Another push factor is that when the jews first arrived in jamaica they had to conceal their identity and refer to themselves as Portuguese or Spanish and had to practice their religion secretly before the british conquest of the island in 1655 but after that were allowed to practice judaism openly. This was also vital to the Jews because that s exactly what they were fleeing from in their old countries. How could someone enjoy life if the things they loved to do had to be done in secrecy or else they would be prosecuted, that s exactly what the jews were trying to find; a country that would allow them to be who they are. The last minor push factor was that their weren t many shuls and this was a problem because depending on where you lived it could be hard to get to one. This was later fixed when the Jewish population increased near the year ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Philipus Paracelsus Research Paper Philippus Aureolus Theophrastus Bombastus von Hohenheim, usually known as Paracelsus, was born in Einsiedeln, Switzerland on either the 11th November or 17th December 1493. This was the time of the Renaissance. He died on the 24th September 1541. During this period of time surgery was practiced mostly by barbers, who used the same tools for both their trades. Medicine was primitive and painful in this era. There was much controversy over how to manage wounds, for example the argument of whether or not pus was good. Cauterization, or the burning of a wound to close it, was the main way to stop bleeding. All in all, most medicinal views were based off of unproved theories. Magic was not used in healing at this time as witch burnings were still taking place. It was very taboo, and had no place in healing where he worked. As a wizard, Paracelsus is credited... He was against excessive bloodletting, saying that the process disturbed the harmony of our systems, and that our blood could not be purified by having decreasing the amount within us. He spent some time as a military surgeon, where doctors thought that infection was a natural part of the healing process. He stood for cleanliness and protection of wounds and the regulation of diet. The popular ideas of that time opposed these theories and suggested sewing or plastering wounds instead. Paracelsus introduced the use of chemicals and minerals in medicine. His views were that sickness and health in the body relied on the harmony of man (microcosm) and nature (macrocosm). He used this analogy not in the manner of soul purification (as the others of his time did) but in the manner that humans must have certain balances of minerals in their bodies, and that certain illnesses had chemical remedies that could cure ... • 6. Analysis Of The Art Of War By Sun Tzu Book Analysis: The Art of War by Sun Tzu Ancient Chinese scholar Sun Tzu wrote The Art of War more than 2000 years earlier, probably for kings, generals and solders of his time. However, this book is still relevant in this high tech modern world. It has still a powerful energy to work as a useful guidance for modern times. The Art of Waris actually about struggles and confrontation we all go through in our daily lives. We as all face same kinds of dilemmas in our hearts and minds when it comes to compete with real life challenges. Though the book was compiled as a military advice in ancient times, it has potential to function as practical guide in all facets of life even today. This book is guide for victory in life, but it is also about the art of war. At the same time, it is all about self awareness. It says know the enemy and know yourself; in in hundred battles you will never be in peril . This is how Sun Tzuemphasises the importance of knowing about yourself. To be able to be a winner in the challenges of life it is important to know your strengths and weakness. If you are know yourself very well you should not worry about anything. Sun Tzu has made it very clear that half battle is won when you have a better understanding of yourself. However, if you neither know about yourself nor about your enemy, it means you are at a very high risk every time you enter a competition. Therefore, to be successful in life, one must be aware about both himself and the opposing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Pilger puts the hard word on many members of the Australian government who are responsible for many deaths, explorations, betrayals and breaches to Aboriginal peoples human rights. This film was very moving and had a great impact on myself who had already studied a lot of this content but seeing it again in a different way opened my eyes even more to the sadness and grief suffered by Aboriginal people due to discrimination and lack of justice. As for my friend she was greatly saddened and shocked by what she has seen. Traditional Classroom Education Imagine waking up, eating breakfast, going to school, and completing your course work without leaving the comfort of your home or even your pajamas. The idea of attending school online and at personal convenience is an option that many high school and college students have difficulty passing up. In today s education system, students have the option to attend school in a traditional classroom setting or attend online in the comfort of their own homes. Both options have their benefits. However, in most cases, a traditional classroom education better prepares students K 12 for their futures by encouraging self discipline and communication between teachers and peers. Online learning, also known as distance learning, is growing rapidly throughout the United States. The 2012 survey of online learning determined that the number of students taking at least one online course has now surpassed 6.7 million (Online Learning Consortium, 2012). With the 2014 online learning statistics being released on February 5, it is expected that the number of students has grown significantly in the past two years and is only set to increase into 2015. A traditional classroom setting exposes students to what it will be like in their future workplace. In a classroom, students are expected to communicate face to face with their peers and teachers. Every time students attend school in a traditional classroom, they interact with their peers and learn what it is like to work amongst people that they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis Of Joan Rivers By The New York Daily News As per an article highlighting Joan Rivers prolific death in 2014 by the New York Daily News (NYDN) (2015), Joan s daughter, Melissa Rivers, has filed a multimillion dollar lawsuit against both the clinic at which her mother was falsely operated upon and the group of physicians who treated her. In her claims, as noted by the NYDN (2015), her 81 year old mother s death was completely preventable and was due to completely ambiguous, amateur mistakes committed by those who operated upon her. In the official documents obtained by the New York Daily News, Melissa has filed accounts of malpractice against the clinic Yorkville Endoscopy (the clinic where her mother was treated) and the five physicians involved in the case. The clinic and the five physicians aforementioned have been recognized as the defendants in this litigation. Ethnography is known to be a descriptive type of work that analyzes culture and customs of individual people. James Clifford has implemented this work into his studies and has influenced many others to do the same. I saw through the books I have read, ethnography makes these books become vivacious for a reader. In The Cosmic Race, by Jose Vasconcelos, he discusses throughout the book about numerous races and emphasizes that the fifth raceknown to be mestizo would overpower any race, and dominate the future. Although, throughout the book he argues reasons why one race would be on top of the pyramid, he contradicts himself numerous times in his arguments that leaves readers questioning, and a little confused. His writing style is somewhat jumbled that it takes time to grasp what he is trying to convey. Overall, it was a bizarre reading that it was hard to grasp his ideas, and had my mind in a labyrinth. First, Vasconcelos mentions these four main races; Mongols, blacks, whites, and Native Americans. Also, he states that Latin Americans have begun interracial relationships that have created the mestizo or a mixed race. In the reading, he mentions that mestizo races will slowly evanescent white people from the top of the hierarchy or pyramid as the prominent race. He quotes, Whites will try to take advantage of their inventions for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of the results is an increase in the amount of persons suffering Post traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). According to the American Psychiatric Association (APA) (2000), a precursor to PTSD is the experience of an event or events that involved actual or threatened death or serious injury to self or others. In addition to their role as the official motto of the United States Military Academy at West Point, the words Duty, Honor, (and) Country serve to embody the conditioning that each recruit, both officer and enlisted, undergoes in all military branches. Each soldier is taught that they have an absolute responsibility to their fellow soldiers and the country they serve and to fail to uphold that responsibility can never be justified. This fear of failure, writes Grossman (2009) is one of the primary means the military uses to overcome soldier s innate aversion to killing other human beings. It is also the fear that allows soldier s to overcome the fear of death and take heroic actions (Nash, 2007). When a soldier perceives he has failed to live up to these standards, shame may result. The Stages of Killing Grossman (2009) writes that killing involves a series of emotions, beginning with concern before the killing, and followed by exhilaration, remorse, rationalization, and acceptance following the killing. Before a soldier kills for the first time, he or she will often have concerns regarding whether he or she will satisfactorily perform his or her duties or will let down fellow fighters by freezing or in some other fashion failing to properly engage the enemy. The two major markets are Aerospace and defense. Several manufacturing companies and suppliers are well known for producing and supplying the aircrafts that are used every day. Some of these major players have contracts in place to produce aircraft with government and air transportation companies. Some of the same major companies also have contracts with smaller companies to produce certain products. Transportation aircraft would be considered the biggest segment of the aircraft industry. These aircrafts vary in size and in function and are responsible for transporting people and freight all over the world. At it s peak in 117 C.E, the empire spanned from western Europe to northern Africa, through the Mediterranean Sea and into western Asia. From about 27 B.C.E. to 476 C.E.. Rome was notorious for holding the name of the world s greatest empire, as Ancient Romeoftentimes furnished civilians with essential necessities such as jobs, food, and spices. Moreover, forms of entertainment including, holding a plenitude of concerts and plays were provided to Roman citizens. However, this era of opulence quickly ceased and conflicts began to emerge through the empire. In turn, by 500 C.E. , the western half of the empire had begun to collapse, as did the eastern part of the empire after another thousand years. The three fundamental elements that justify the collapse of the Roman Empireinclude the economic and social problems, political instability, as well as the weakening frontiers the civilization had within. One main factor on as to why the Roman empire fell was because of the flood of economic and social problems the civilization faced. The overwhelming majority of people had been excluded from playing an active role in their own government...could not serve in the army (Doc 1). There is an increasing acceptance of microwave technique due to its fast processing, simplicity, energy efficiency and cost effectiveness. It is a tool that not only provides solutions to industry but also attracts materials chemists who are looking for better and reliable methods to access new and potentially useful materials. Microwaves devices designed specifically for chemical synthesisthus make things easier for industrial and academic chemists alike.1 So, this technique becomes a widely accepted energy source for performing chemical reactions. Although microwave synthesis is relatively a modern technique, the first synthetic application was reported in 1971.2 However, considerable attention in the field was observed in 1986 when significant rate acceleration was achieved for reactions carried out in a conventional microwave oven.3 This success aroused scientist to develop more advanced microwave devices designed for chemical synthesis. Since then microwave is getting more common technique in organic synthesis and solution phase chemistry.4,5,6 Organic reactions such as esterification, etherification, hydrolysis, substitution reactions and Diels Alder reactions have been studied in the microwave oven and relevant examples can be found in the literature. His presence is significant as it is the first sign of mental equality with Grendel and another person. He is a hero of his own land and personally believes this. Unferth is seen as a character of nobility, however he is also a foolish human which shows through his actions when he challenges grendel, his personal definition of a hero, along with his character during battle. When Grendel is challenged by Unferth, it is seen as honorable and brave, however he is quickly frightened which can be seen as Gardner explains He glanced behind him, making sure he knew exactly where the window was (Gardner). • 22. Iberians And Indigenous People In The 15th To 16th Century Death. Rape. Torture. Enslavement. These were some of the horrific tragedies Indigenous peoples endured as Iberians during the 15th to 16th century entered and ravaged their world. As the Spanish empire spread their colonies into the Americas, many Indigenous peoples suffered the wake of the Spanish thirst for power and profit. Iberians depicted the Indigenous peoplesas naГЇve and inferior because Iberians believed they were religiously and socially superior on the account of Christianity and their assessment of a civilized culture. Caused by this superiority complex, the Indigenous peoples were subjected to many hardships. Iberians had many preconceived ideas of the Indigenous peoples but had accepted them as likewise subjects of the crown if they accepted Christianity. Iberians had new found respect for the Indigenous peoples as they had established advanced societies and ways of life, blaming bad religion as their only hamartia. Many Iberians, specifically Christopher Columbus, an Italian explorer who is falsely credited with the discovery of the Americas, believed, ...they would easily be made Christians [because]...they had no creed (RR, p. 11). Hence, they presumed Indigenous peoples needed guidance as they were capable of redemption and conversion. Chaucer uses the aspect of courtly love which is found in the Knights tale and makes a parody of it; He uses the Miller?s character to mock the Knights idea of courtly love. Miller describes the heroine of his story Alison, as a wife of an older man and also an infidel. She?s compared to a ?wezele? sly and cunning. The description of Alison clearly indicates that she is very different from an innocent girl from courtly love stories instead she?s well aware of her husbands jealousy and wears elaborate cloths to show off her beauty. ?Of col blak silk, withinne and eek withoute? Miller firstly describes Nicholas as a young scholar who stays as a paying guest with the carpenter, ?And al above ther lay a gay sautrie,?he mad a nightes melodie? Nicholas is described to have a decorated room, he is a lively man and depends on his friends as he cant afford to pay all of his rent. Chaucer continuously uses the word ?hende? when ever he refers to Nicholas this word would usually mean gentle but as we see that Nicholas is not described to be courteous or gracious the word is ironically used to suggest that he is sly and opportunist. Again there is no sign of a hero from courtly love romances. Nicholas openly expresses his lust to Alison ?love me al atones, or I wol dyen?. Again reflecting back to the Knights tale in which the lovers stay calm and modestly await the time till when they can get their love. But here Miller completely mocks that idea of the Knight and so makes a parody out of it. Alison who at first refuses to kiss Nicholas then within seconds agrees to sleeping with him, Nicholas very easily persuades Alison ?spak so faire, and profred him so faste,? Chaucer shows how the miller parody?s this with the courtly love tale of the Knight as Emily in the Knights tale is extremely innocent about matters of love. The second lover that the Miller introduces is Absolon who is suppose to be a parish clerk but has extraordinary talents. He takes more care of his appearance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While it is a great thing in concept, it often runs into problems when it is put into practice. The country that gives the aid (the benefactor), usually doesn t realize or try to fix the problems that these problems cause the other country (the beneficiary). Like everything in this world, it has benefits and drawbacks and although it does impact the country that provides aid, ultimately, the bigger concern is the country who receives it.Is it actually helpful, or is it a waste of time? What is the difference between helping and harming? The assessment is essential because it allows the clinician to know and understand the clients history. The clinician needs to know what the client is here for, if this is a hereditary trait, how long the client has been dealing with this issue, and etc. After this is performed, the client and clinician will create a treatment plan. In this paper I will discuss the importance of setting goals through treatment planning and how through evidence based practice, one will be able to determine of the client has been reaching their goals. I will be demonstrating this through a client who would be dual diagnosed. What dual diagnosed means is that an individual has both a mental illness and is using substance/alcohol. Dual diagnosed is broad because it can mean that someone can be diagnosed with schizophrenia and alcohol, diagnosed with bipolar and heroin, or diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder and cocaine. It does not matter what their diagnosis and usage is. If the individual is using and has a mental illness, they are considered dual diagnosed also known as Mentally Ill Chemical Abusers (MICA). This treatment plan can be devised between client and clinician or with client and the staff at the program. Treatment planning plays a significant role ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Treasury Bonds And The National Debt Daniel Hysinger US Treasury Bonds and the National Debt The U.S. Treasury bond is a low interest way for the government to borrow money. The bond, along with Treasury notes and bills, form the Securities which the Federal government borrows from lenders for a set amount of time. Issued by the Department of the Public Debt, a subset of the US Treasury, they are usually issued in 30 year maturities which pay interest twice yearly. Because the debt obligation is backed by the tax generating, money printing, and understandably trusted government of the United States, bonds are generally considered to be a safe or virtually no risk investment. Thanks to this low risk attribute however, bonds are regarded as very low yield security, which is exactly why it is a good instrument for the United States government to employ, as long as it can turn a relatively decent profit on the initial investment. According to the September 30th, 2014 report of Monthly Statement of the Public Debt of the United States, the amount of Treasury Bonds outstanding totaled $8,167,759 million, I ll call it roughly $8.2 trillion. This number composes the majority of the combined $12.7 trillion of US Treasury securities outstanding. These securities outstanding are also known as the national debt. There was the likely potential that military action would be taken against Iraq that would disrupt the supply of crude oil to the market. • 37. The Importance Of Spiritual Discipline God intends the Disciplines of the spiritual life to be for ordinary human beings: people who have jobs, who care for children, who wash dishes and mow lawns (Foster, 1998, Page 1). Spiritual Discipline should be a natural part of the Christian life, not a process that one only practices on Sunday at church. Just as a prize fighter must train by exercising, eating right and meditating on the big fight, so should Christians when it comes to our spiritual discipline. Spiritual Discipline is a process that takes the believer from sinful existence into a Christ like life that is pleasing to God. Spiritual formation is the link that connects mankind to God. If that link is severed, the believer is exposed to sin thus causing one to live a life outside of the will of God. Although spiritual discipline is the cornerstone to self discipline, it is also vital to living a life with balanced spiritual formation. Balanced spiritual formation is cultivated in the company of like minded comrades and sensitive confidants (Pettit, 2008, Page 78). • 39. The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer In his novel The Canterbury Tales, Geoffrey Chaucer presents the corruption of the Catholic Church through several of his characters. Chaucer lived in a time of controversial indulgences, a way to pay off sins. Chaucer s tales show his opposition to these sinful behaviors that he believed were common among the clergy. In order to protest against sinful behavior and religious corruption, Chaucer uses characters such as the pardoner, the friar, the summoner, and the prioress to show the lack of morality and faith among the clergy, and presents the parson as an example of how to correct corruption of the Catholic Church. Chaucer demonstrates corruption of the clergy through the pardoner who is a sinner since he deceives the innocent through greed, which at the time was a mortal sin. Chaucer describes the pardoner as having a bunch of relics in his pouch such as a croys of latoun, full of stones (GP 699). However, Chaucer retorts, But with thise relikes, whan that he fond A povre person dwellynge upon lond, Upon a day he gat hym moore moneye Than that the person gat in monthes tweye (GP 701 704). Here, Chaucer calls the pardoner a liar who uses false relics to collect money from people he meets who are trying to repent of their sins. • 45. Describe The Relationship Between Termites And Dermatobia... 1. A phoretic relationship is when two different species, who benefit from one another, travel together throughout their relationship. An example of phoresis is the species of fly, Dermatobia hominis. The fly attaches the larvae to another insect such as a mosquito and when the mosquito travels and feeds on an animal or human, the eggs hatch and the larvae burrows itself into it s skin. 2. Mutualism is when both parties of the relationship benefit from the association. Obligatory mutualism is when both species depend on one another in the relationship because otherwise they would not be able to survive alone. 3. The obligatory relationship between termites and gut protozoa is very important. Termites bodies do not produce the necessary enzymes that are essential in digesting the cellulose in wood. The protozoa that live inside the gut of the termite, however, secrete the same enzyme that is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Protozoa can reproduce both sexually and asexually and can go back and forth between the two depending on its environment. With asexual reproduction protozoa reproduce by binary fission. Some use multiple fission, also known as mergony or shizogony. The resulting daughter cells are called merozoites. Another type of multiple fission called sporogony where meiosis occurs before mitosis. 16. When the union of whole cell gametes are similar they are called isogametes. When they differ they are called anisogametes. 17. Two individual ciliates unite and fuse their pellicles at the point of contact. The macronucleus in each ciliate disintegrate and then the micronuclei undergo meiosis to produce four haploid pronuclei and two of four of these pronuclei degenerate. The migratory pronucleus from each individual ciliate moves into the other to fuse with the stationary pronucleus and restores the diploid status. The cells then separate and undergo nuclear division to produce macronuclei. The resulting cells are called exconjugates and are now ready to undergo sexual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Stereotypes Of Dracula In Bram Stoker s Dracula Bleh Bleh Bleh What does the notorious bloodsucking Dracula have in common with the attractive vampires that are shown in the movie Twilight? A lot actually, not only do they share the same name of Vampire or Undead , they also share the same powers and needs. The vampire genre has gone a long way, specifically with books like Bram Stoker s Dracula. It first started out as folklore and then it turned into a popular topic of writing in early European culture. Bram Stoker then combined what he could into one classic vampirethat is widely known today. Even in today s modern generation, Bram Stoker s widely known character Dracula continues to be used as the classic vampire that is an example of a basis for the undead . In Bram Stoker s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Clarson makes a point of talking about the fangs being sharp, proving that it is a way to identify a vampire such as the Count. This continues to persist throughout the genre, a vampire has the need for blood so it turns to a victim and takes advantage of them, while also turning the victim into a vampire as well. This shows that Bram Stoker has successfully created a stereotype of fangs that are used to feed off the blood of victims that continues through this genre. There is something about burning red eyes of a blood hungry undead that just manages to stick with the whole vampire stereotypes. Despite not knowing that it was dracula, Jonathan Harker had met up with Dracula and had taken a lot of acknowledgement to the dark fire like eyes of the Count. Jonathan describes the scene of him meeting the count for the first time, I could only see the gleam of a pair of very bright eyes, which seemed red in the lamplight, as he turned to us (Stoker 10). This proves that the eyes are a first expression that comes to Harkers mind when he first sees the Count. The stereotype of vampires having red eyes is probably one of the most known stereotypes when it comes to the undead and the vampire genre. The burning red eyes show a sense of character in the vampires, giving them an evil quality that strikes fear into those who look into them. Another ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
