15. Academic History
For the courses such as film, photography, media and film and
television production my college course would have helped me
gain some of the skills needed for these courses because it will
be about the things I have done already. Such as camera work,
editing and filming. This would give me an advantage over
someone who hasn’t ever done these things because I would be
able to showcase them from the beginning. These skills make me
want to move on further with my education because I want to be
able to use these skills for something I am interested in and
develop them into something better which could lead into a job
of doing media production.
16. Current Study
I am currently studying creative media at york college for 2 years.
This course has helped me prepare for my chosen university
courses by giving me the skills needed for them and the
knowledge about these courses, which would help me during my
time studying these university courses. I made a trailer,
animation and many more, these different tasks over the year
has given me different skills such as editing which I can do on
premiere or Photoshop as these were the main two we used. I
wanted to study further because I want to develop my skills into
making better things and become a better student.
17. The Future
I want to become a video editor or underwater filmer which
specialises filming underwater life or surfing. Editing surfing films
would be a dream job because I have seen a lot of films and is
my favourite sport to do. I feel that the university courses that I
picked would help me achieve that because they will develop my
skills over the time I am there with them and I will gain a lot of
experience doing different things and seeing what I am good and
bad at. I also would like to help the environment which is why I
have picked the Sustainability and Environmental Management
course. This is because I feel like we are in a bad place at the
moment with how we treat our oceans and wildlife so having the
young generation learn about these dangers would benefit the
world over time.
18. Outside College
Outside of the college I have hobbies such as surfing and going
to the gym, I don’t do volunteer work but I beach clean
sometimes by myself instead of doing it with a charity but I am
wanting to start including myself with a charity that fights against
plastic and waste that damages the ocean and the animals
within it. I have done a small amount of underwater filming and
surfing filming so this could make me a better candidate for the
university course because I have a little bit of knowledge outside
the normal filming conditions which could help.
19. Conclusion
I want to go to university because I feel that it will help me
understand more about what goes on in the media world and
it can prepare me for the jobs I want to go into. Also it can
give me the skills I need for these jobs as well so I can be
prepared and ready to take on the challenges in front of me. I
am a good candidate for the courses because I can learn
different techniques quickly and this is a good advantage to
have because then I can learn it and use it for different
projects to make them different from other peoples.
20. Introduction
I am applying to the Sustainability and Environmental
Management course because I want to learn about what goes
into fighting pollution and preventing these bad things from
happening and learning from it to become a better person and
help out the earth. The engineering course is something I am
interested in and is something different to what I have learned
so far. The media courses is something I want to do because I
then can develop the skills I have learned from college and
progress into bigger projects to show what I can do and
hopefully get a career from it.
