20. Academic History
Write a short paragraph about subjects you’ve already studied at school/college
that have helped prepare you for your chosen courses at University- level 2 or
GCSE level. What did you make? What skills did you learn? Why did this make you
want to progress on and study further etc.
• I studied Creative Digital Media at Tadcaster Grammar School before studying it
at York College, studying this at Tadcaster and York has helped me understand
how to use a computer as a creative tool
• At Tadcaster, I have created a website, a video to promote the school and a few
3D models of different buildings
• At York College, I have created 2 video game animations, a music video which I
regret making, a magazine, a video advert for Irn-Bru and a small audio book
• I also studied Computer Science which helped me understand how computers
work
21. Current Study
Talk about this course- Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production and
Technology. Reference how it has helped you prepare for your chosen courses at
University. What did you make? What skills did you learn? Why did this make you
want to progress on and study further etc.
Reference specific projects and software/hardware that you are familiar with.
• At the moment, I study creative digital media in York College which has helped
me understand what I can do with programs like Photoshop and Premiere Pro
• I have created multiple animations using Photoshop and Premiere Pro so I can
create some animations using pixel art but with some time, I can learn to do
better animations with more detailed images
22. The Future
What do you want to do in the future (ensure it is related to the subjects you are
applying for). How will university help you to achieve that?
• I mostly wish to continue studying digital media in Canada, so I have an excuse to
go back to my true home and be away from my problems in England
• I wish to be able to say, "Have you tried turning it off and on again?" as my job
23. Outside College
What do you do outside college? Any hobbies, part time jobs, client work,
volunteer work? How does this make you a better candidate for university study?
• When outside of college, I enjoy playing video games (favourites include Mortal Wombat and
Dad of Boy)
• I try to go for a small run every weekend so I can get my exercise and stop my heart from
exploding
• I also enjoy watching movies (favourites include most movies from the Marvel Cinematic
Universe)
• I watch a lot of different anime in my spare time like Death Note and Dragon Ball Z
• On special occasions like Christmas, I like to wear fun party suits that help me stand out from
the crowd, this makes me a better candidate because they are fun to wear, and it helps me
stand out from the crowd
• During the last summer holidays, I spent around half of it with the National Citizen Service
where I spent the weeks traveling to different areas like France and York University, and
helping other people and spreading awareness of mental health in Selby
24. Conclusion
Summarise why you want to go to university. What will it help you achieve? Why
are you a good candidate?
Keep it short and to the point.
• I believe that I am a good candidate because I am able to stand out from the
crowd
• I can become friends with a lot of different people since I am easy to talk to and
approach
• I can easily get on with my work and focus on whatever project I am doing until it
is finished
25. Introduction
Brief introduction referencing what subject/s (keep general if necessary) you are
applying for and briefly why you want to go to university.
• I wish to apply for any course that has any sort of game designing or developing
because I enjoy playing games and seeing different game/character designs
