14. Academic History
• Studied film studies at GCSE
• I did level 3 creative media and production
technologies at college.
• Made some short films, acquired new
knowledge about both hardware and
software.
• Both software and hardware skills increased
drastically.
15. Current Study
This course has allowed me to explore different forms of media. It has encouraged me
to go outside of my comfort zone and has condition me to push myself in any area I
can think of.
Beyond just the contents of the course I found it has motivated me to learn about as
much and many things as possible, which has lead to many interesting and beneficial
opportunities.
I have been able to work with great external clients because of this course and I have
been able to really focus on what I want my future to entail.
Working with real world clients and with real world actors on projects, has sparked
something inside me which I cannot simply put out. This is why I want to progress to
university and meet more people, to work on more projects. I have become extremely
comfortable with all of the software which I have had to use over my time at college
as well as some software which I learned in my own time. (Premier Pro, After Effects,
Photoshop, Audition, Davinci Resolve and more). When it comes to hardware I have
began dangling my toes in the world of cine equipment using the canon c100,
whenever I could get the chance. I feel my hardware skills have greatly improved and I
know lots about the synthetic relationship between in camera and post production
work in order to create a visually pleasing image.
16. The Future
• After university I would like to do a masters degree in
cinematography or directing. Going to university will help me
find out which of the two will suit me the best.
• I would love to become a director or director of photography
for films and tv shows. However if this shouldn’t work out I
plan to setup a freelancing business as well.
• Learning the industry and gaining understanding will allow me
to get there.
• University will build upon my understanding of film and the
industry behind it.
17. Outside College
• I live stream on twitch
• I do lots of photoshop audio editing and video
editing.
• I work with real world clients this has allowed
me to strengthen my portfolio and learn
important skills.
• I create small video projects on the side with
my friends or by my self, to improve my
knowledge and skillset.
18. Conclusion
• I want to go to university in order to get one
step closer to achieving my dream of doing
this full time. Working on more ambitious
projects, with more people and more
experience. It will allow me to expand my
horizons and learn more about each subject to
a depth which I simply haven’t touched upon
before.
19. Introduction
I am applying to a film production/ filmmaking course.
This is because after the two years I have spent doing
level 3 creative media at college I am completely invested
in film. I have never enjoyed a course more, and I have
learned so much about filmmaking that I don’t think I
could change my career path at this point.
Filmmaking is the pillar of my reality, its what I see
everyday and its what I think about 90% of the time.
So going to university and learning more about the world
of filmmaking just seems like the right step to take.
