2.  Name: Ghanshyam Das Birla
 Born: 10th April 1894
 Place of origin: Pilani in
Rajasthan
 Profession: Entrepreneur

3.  IN 1984 A.D. Baldeo Das Birla(Father of
Ghanshyam Das Birla) went to Bombay in
search of new avenues of trade.
 He established his firm Shiv Narian Baledo Das
in Bombay in 1884 and Baledeo Das Jugal
Kishore in 1897 in Culcutta.
 The firms started their business in Silver,
Cotton, Grain and other commodities.

4.  He was a very simple living persons
 He always followed the path of Mahatma
Gandhi.
 He was ambitious as well as aspiring person.
 The main part is he always focused on
knowing his as well as his company’s strength
and weakness.

5.  Birla left Pilani for Culcutta in order to start his
own business with cotton and jute industry.
 Later on he took over his family business and
expanded
 In 1940’s he ventured in to territory of cars and
established hindustan motors.
 After independence, Birla invested in tea and
textiles through a series of acquisitions

6.  Birla corporation limited is an indian-
based flagship company of the M P birla group of
companies, founded by shri ghanshyam das
birla in the late1910s and carried on by madhav
prasad birla.
 In the 1890s, birla corporation was a jute
manufacturing company, but over time, it grew to
corporate four main divisions: cement, jute,
linoleums,and auto trim. It is not a part of adithya
birla group

7.  Besides being a succesful business, he is also
active in political and social fields:
 In 1926, he was elected to central legislative
assembly
 He was the founding president of harijan
sevak sangh founded by mahatma gandhi in
1932.
 He started birla engineering college
