Psychological Effects Of The Cold War
The Cold War began the use of space for war advantages. At the end of World War II, the dropping of
the two atomic bombs changed the way war was fought forever. The Cold War brought the need for
gathering intelligence on enemy countries driving the Cold War into the space race developing
artificial intelligence, satellites, which would be used for military use including spying and
reconnaissance. Many government agencies were formed and created the Corona Satellite having the
most effect on the Cold War intelligence gathering. Without the use of satellites during the Cold War
and agencies formed for foreign surveillance, the satellites used daily for television, GPS,
photography, reconnaissance, and space exploration would not exist. Satellites ... Show more content

The United States took initiative and started surveillance on the Soviets by using U 2 spy planes. After
the incident of Gary Powers being killed when flying, the push for spying in space would allow for
intelligence on other countries above Earth s atmosphere and unnoticeable. Many government
agencies developed the Corona satellite having a major impact on the Cold War. This imagery allowed
for the ability to verify missiles and weapons which gave the United States confidence and a strategy
when fighting or signing treaties. This satellite allowed for the collapsing of the Berlin Wall and
ending the war against Communism. Today Satellites are launched and used from many countries all
across the world. These satellites allow for television, communication, weather, GPS navigation,
spying, space exploration, and so much more. The Corona Satellite opened the gates of all the new
technology advantages for space satellites which will continue into the future as technology advances

Introduction
Innovation is refinement in a product, process, method, or a part thereof. Innovation has become a
buzz word in recent years, with increasing relevance of innovation centred business models , and
innovation led entrepreneurism . In fact, the success stories of
Industrial America, technological Silicon Valley, American financial market, etc., are tales of constant
innovations.
Digitization has shifted access to knowledge and information from a privilege to convenience: anyone
who is willing and able to pay, has an access. Also, sharing of information and flow of payments and

Apart from developing a new product, innovation can also be in developing a new market for sales,

Bealtaine Research Paper
The Festival of Bealtaine, also known as May Day, marks the beginning of the summer. It
encompasses the sunset of April 30th, which is May Eve, to the sunset of May 1st, which is the actual
May Day. The most significant time of this festival is between dawn and sunrise. It is a key element of
the annual cycle and is one of four of the True Quarters, which also includes Samhain, Saint Brigid s
Day, and Lúnasa. The cyclic nature of Bealtaine connects to both the daily cycle and the life cycle,
which highlights how cycles are central elements in one s life. The daily cycle of waking up and
sleeping can be extended into the annual cycle of the seasons, which then can be further amplified into
the cycle of life and death. Bealtaine is a crucial marker in the year that serves as the start of not only
summer, but as a predictor of the rest of the year. It has a complex integration of ritual, superstition,
and the belief in the Otherworld. Through the many customs of ... Show more content on

People often took many safety precautions to ensure that the fairies would not bother them, such as
carrying around iron. It also seems as if the people truly did believe that they had the ability to affect
whether or not they found danger on May Day. One strikingly disturbing example happened on May
Eve, 1858. A grave was discovered to have been disturbed. Within the grave, the rotting body had all
of his fat stolen from him. Eventually it was concluded that the superstitious amongst the peasantry
imagine that the possession of a candle made from the lard of a corpse furtively abstracted from a
cemetery is a safe guard against all dangers. From the desperate measure that the people who stole the
corpse s lard took, it is evident that they truly believed in the safety that the lard would

Newton s Three Laws of Motion
Newton s 3 Laws of Motion
One of the most influential and top contributors to the world of physics to me is Sir Isaac Newton.
Father of modern science, Sir Isaac Newton was born on January 4th, 1643 in Woolsthorpe by
Colsterworth, United Kingdom and died on March 31st 1727, Kensington, London, United Kingdom.
He was an English physicist and mathematician who formulated three laws of motion that help explain
some of the very important principles of physics. Some of Newton s laws could only be proved under
certain conditions; but actual observation and trial experiments assured the validity of his work.
According to Isaac Newton s laws he tells us how objects move by describing the relationship
between force and motion.
The First Law of Isaac Newton s laws of motion states that an object at rest will stay at rest until acted
on by larger force. When the object is at rest it is called inertia. Objects in motion will stay in motion
until stopped by a larger force. What this simply means is that an object will not move if an
unbalanced force does not affect it. It also states that if the object begins to move, that the object will
continue to move in the same direction until a larger force stops the object. Example if you were to put
a dodge ball on a computer chair (roll able chair) and were to roll the chair the dodge ball and the
chair would be moving in the same direction. If you were to stop the chair, the dodge ball would fling

A Report On The Panamanian Law Firm
The Panamanian law firm has long been a well recognition across the global elite society, and the
Mossack Fonseca is not also confined in its households, a huge team of hundreds of journalists . Are
poring over the documents in International Consortium of Investigative Journalists and disclosed a
massive 2.6 terabyte leak of confidential papers that they are calling the Panama Papers
(Aljazeera.com, 2016).
The firm drives its operations diversely and internationally in scope, but they are famous for their
specific specialty by helping foreigners obscuring the real identities of the owners to set up
Panamanian shell companies to establish their financial assets. It was established in 1977 and since its
establishment it has expanded its interests outside of Panama to include more than 40 offices
worldwide, by helping a global client to make a basement for working with shell companies in
Panama, Bahamas and the Virgin Islands of British, and other notorious tax havens islands in the
world (Aljazeera.com, 2016).
The papers bring out details about Russian shocking acts of corruption, hint of massive corruptions in
a range of developing nations at scandalous goings on, and lead to a prompt of political crisis in
Iceland. They willingly allowed the wealthiest persons of Western society to hide their huge amount of
wealth from government taxation and in some cases divorce or bankruptcy settlements (BBC News,
2016).

Are Nuclear Families Ever Changing
Family dynamics are ever changing. In the past, nuclear families were widely considered to be the
typical american family , with 45% of families fitting into this category in 1960, compared to the less
than 25% of families today. There were also many differences in how the families functioned even
when compared to today s nuclear families. Job Pressures, new relationships within families, and the
different expectations for each member of a family now all prove to be admirable barriers in family
life. Today, more than ever, being part of a family presents many challenges.
One of the biggest challenges in modern day families is the increase in job related pressures. Unlike in
the past, it is not common for both the mother and father figures

A Report On The Resin Based Adhesives
Summary The Aracuo mill in Sault Ste Marie manufactures a range of medium density fibreboard
(MDF) composite panels as well as a wide selection of thermally fused laminates (Arauco, 2016). The
resin based adhesives used in the manufacturing process of these materials create a source for airborne
formaldehyde in the workplace. This presents a substantial health concern for workers in the Sault Ste.
Marie Facility. Subsequently, routine air sampling is conducted to ensure safe working conditions. At
present the Arauco Sault Ste. Marie facility maintains an air sampling program using the NIOSH
2016, Issue 2 method. While the current program is cost effective it has numerous limitations, such as
limited sampling locations and infrequent collection of data. It is recommended that the Arauco Sault
Ste. Marie facility consider implementing a more comprehensive air sampling program. While this
would likely increase program costs, changes to the air sampling approach would remove sampler
error, greatly increase the quantity of data collected, and extend sampling locations throughout the
facility. Implementation of some or all of these recommendations would greatly increase the
comprehensiveness of the air sampling program. 1.0 Introduction Arauco manufactures a range of
sustainable wood products including the industry s most comprehensive selection of composite panels,
premium plywood, millwork, lumber, and wood pulp (Arauco, 2016). Founded in 1971, Arauco has

Deborah Tannen s I Only Say This Because I Love You, And...
Introduction Interpersonal conflicts are inevitable. Different texts suggest not how to avoid conflict,
but rather how to effectively communicate when involved in one. However, the rules of constructive
communication can completely change in conflicts between people in long term, interdependent
relationships. This paper will focus on analyzing a conversation between a mother and her adult son,
while applying ideas from William Wilmot and Joyce Hocker s Interpersonal Conflict, Deborah
Tannen s I Only Say This Because I Love You, and the Conflict Styles lecture.
Conflict Styles In Interpersonal Conflict, Wilmot and Hocker reference Rahim s (2011) model of five
different conflict styles: obliging, avoiding, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He does so in a way that is assertive rather than aggressive. Instead of aggressively pushing his
thoughts onto Dianne without explanation, Earl works towards achieving his desired goals by openly
expressing his frustration as a response to his mother s commands. In conjunction with his dominant
conflict style, he threatens, the more you tell me to, the more I won t, which qualifies as a threat,
because it meets the two required criteria. First, the source of the threat must control the outcome. Earl
controls the outcome of the situation since he has the ability to either obey or disobey Dianne.
Secondly, the threat must be seen as negative by the recipient. In this case, the recipient Dianne sees
the condition of Earl s comment as negative since she will not get her way (Wilmot and Hocker, 159).
Earl uses the threat in an attempt to put an end to his mother s current and future demands. However,
the use of a threat begs the question, what is gained? Although Earl solves his immediate issue of
changing the sheets at his own convenience, he risks leaving the bigger problem unresolved and
damaging the relationship with his mother (Wilmot and Hocker, 160). After this one instance, Dianne
may feel the need to force

Taking His Firearm As Well
He inched his way over to the second guard and bent down, taking his firearm as well. After he stood
back up, he let two more rounds go in the ceiling as he yelled for everyone to be quiet and stay down.
He took a deep breath and swallowed hard as the hair on the back of his neck began to stand up. If he
made one false move, one mistake could ruin this entire mission so he had to be careful, keep his eyes
open, and be quick. He ran up to the counter, yelling for the bank tellers to get on the ground as he
pointing the barrel at one of them, instructing her to get up and give him $10,000. She seemed
reluctant when she looked around at the other tellers who were cowering in fear so he let another
round go at the ceiling and pointed the barrel back down at her, yelling that she had better hurry up
because he was getting tired of shooting the ceiling. The teller got up, walked over to the safe, and
opened it as tears began to stream down her cheeks. A blinking number popped up on the screen,
started at one, and began to climb as the blond haired woman began putting money in a bag. The
number stopped at $7,000 and Osiris yelled at the teller, telling her that he hoped she didn t think he
wouldn t shoot her and she gasped as she began putting more money in the bag. Osiris turned around,
looking at the door as he began to hear police sirens then turned back to her, telling her to move faster.

Target Heart Rates
This semester of physical education has taught me countless amounts of new knowledge. In this class
I had to set specific goals for myself to be accomplished throughout the semester. My five goals were
to: run a mile in under six minutes thirty seconds, lose five pounds of fat by winter break, make my
thigh muscles strong enough to squat one hundred and fifty pounds, to be able to bench one hundred
pounds, and to be able to run up and down the entire stadium in under four minutes and thirty seconds.

As well as how big of a trunk flex we have and how fast we can do a 40 yard dash in. For week one of
the mile runs I got my fastest time of 6.13, the second week I got 7.51, my third week I ran a 6.33
mile, my forth week I ran a 6.30 mile, during my fifth week I ran a 7.43 minute mile, during the sixth
week I ran a 6.59 minute mile, the seventh week I ran a 6.39; and my eighth, ninth and tenth week I
ran a 7.12, 6.34, and a 7.21. What this shows me is that over the semester my times fluctuated from
6.13 to 7.51. By running a 6.13, I accomplished my goal of running faster than a 6.30 minute mile.
Throughout the semester my weight fluctuated between one hundred and thirty pounds to one hundred
and forty pounds. This shows that my weight stays moderately the same over a long period of time.
Throughout this semester of PE we have played countless (not really) amounts of different sports,
such as: football, soccer, volleyball, and handball. While partaking in these sports I earned that I, a
mediocre player at most of these sports, appears to be competent in all the sports we have played so
far. However, competence and actual skill are far off from one another but still I show some skill in all
sports taken so far, even though I haven t liked some of the sports we endeavored. Due to lots of

The Effects Of Climate Change On Social, Political, And...
In Egypt, the same word for bread is life. Food security and clean water are indispensable to survival,
and how do societies react when exogenous variables prohibit access to the basic staples of life?
Manfred Steger speaks briefly on globalization and environmental degradation and fails to draw real
conclusions about the impact of climate change on social, political, and economic stability. In Steger s
A Brief Introduction to Globalization, he contends that, how people view their natural environment
depends to a great extent on their cultural milieu... [And] the US dominated culture industry seeks to
convince its global audience that the meaning and chief value of life can be found in the limitless
accumulation of material possessions (2003, p. 86). He later contends that a revision of our current
extractivist oriented cultural regime must occur as a response to our pleading planet, as if only culture
were to blame (2003, p. 92). This paper underlines the connectedness of climate change and social
unrest and uses case studies from the Arab Spring to color the arching narrative that the awakening
was catalyzed and intensified by climate change.
Egypt and Unsuspecting Syria
The normal consensus is that rising food prices helped create the conditions for the Arab Spring (Klein
2014). Laying the data out suggests a stronger correlation of climate change and revolution sensitivity.

Don Quixote De La Mancha Sparknotes
Two lost tales concerning the valiant knight Don Quixote de la Mancha and other such interesting
things
Prologue
After reading for the first time the true history of The Ingenious Hidalgo Don Quixote de la Mancha,
originally scribed by the brilliant Arab historian Cide Hamete Benengeli, I was captivated by it and
somehow began to relate it to all that happened to me in my daily life, wondering how our famous
hero would interpret these things in my life and what I might learn from his good sense if he were here
to dictate to me. Don Quixote did not only haunt my mind because I found its contents interesting, but

imagined him just being pleased with my work; and it is at this thought that I got up to look around at
the shelved books nearby to my seat and started thumbing through them to see what I could see

Competition Bikes, Inc. Budget Summary Report
A1. Concerns
Upon reviewing the Competition Bikes Inc. (CBI) Budget Schedules and ProFormas for Year 9, there
are a few concerns that should be analyzed. The first is the forecasted sales in units. The forecast for
year 9 is 3,510 units, which is a 3.2% increase over the 3,400 units sold in year 8. The storyline
mentions the economic downturn, which has led to a decrease in bike sales. It can take some time to
recover sales lost during an economic downturn, and given that sales were down 15% between year 7
and year 8, to go from a 15% decrease in sales to a 3.2% increase in sales in the span of only two
years may be an unrealistic goal. I would want to see a specific plan in place for ... Show more content

They compare this actual spending to their budgeted amounts for all line items, and variances are
calculated. Variances are the differences between the what was budget and what was actually spent.
Activity Variances
Within the Flexible Budget Performance Report for Year 9, we begin with units sold and net sales.
Net Sales
Planning Budget: 3,510 Units, Net Sales $5,247,250
Flexible Budget: 3,423 Units, Net Sales $5,117,385 (unfavorable net sales variance of $130,065).
This clearly shows that CBI overestimated their sales goal in light of unfavorable economic
conditions. Given these conditions, the fact that they still sold more bikes than in year 8 should be
considered a positive result.
Within the Variable Costs section, all of the line items included favorable variances:
Direct materials Planning Budget: $2,292,028 Flexible Budget: $2,235,219 (favorable variance of

Direct Labor Planning Budget: $1,053,000 Flexible Budget: $1,026,900 (favorable variance of

Mini Essay on Family Relations
Mini Essay on Family Relations
A family is a connection between people either by adoption, blood or marriage. In the three stories
read in class many of the family members are emotionally detached from each other. Emotional
detachment is when a person avoids making connections with those in his/her personal and social
round. The members in Louisa, Walter and Paul s families show emotional detachment towards
Louisa, Walter and Paul because their family members do not understand them nor do they want to.
Louisa s mother, from Shirley Jackson s short story, Louisa Please Come Home, is emotionally
detached from Louisa because she does not share a mother daughter connection with her. Louisa s
mother continuously buys clothes for her even though she does not like them. Her mother picked [the
coat] which she wants Louisa to wear (49). Admittedly, Louisa s mother shows emotional detachment
towards Louisa because she does not ask her daughter what she would like to wear. Moreover, Louisa
s mother should already know Louisa s fashion sense. Most mothers know their children s likes and
dislikes because they love their children and do not want to upset them. Since Louisa s family does not
pay attention towards Louisa s needs, she feels neglected. This pushes her to run away, which shows
that Louisa s family is not close enough to begin with. In fact, Louisa s mother does not care for
Louisa s opinion and does not give her freedom of choice. Her mother s behaviour leads Louisa to be

Athletics For A Majority Of The Student Population

experience in education. People that participate in athletics will have better self esteem, social
confidence, and more academic achievement. Participating in an athletic program will help the student
contribute to the school community, which will help them identify with school values. One factor that
may be overlooked in the participation of sports is that it helps students have better physical health.

Coaches are able to work with students and change their lives. In my career I have coached many
young students, but the one thing that puzzled me was the barriers causing some students not to
participate. What are the barriers for students to not want to participate in athletics or other physical
activities? This was the question that I ask myself when I look at some students that don t participate
in sports. I understand that sports are not for everyone in the student population, but why are some
students so hesitant to exercise? Some students are not participating in physical activates because
there are too many barriers for them. I started my research by doing an online search for barriers to
physical activity. After numerous searches I found a website that featured many reasons people don t
participate in physical activates. The biggest break in my research was when I found an article titled
Male Adolescents Reasons for Participating in Physical Activity, Barriers to Participation, and
Suggestions for Increasing Participation . This article provided me with a variety of information about
why male students choose to not participate in sports. Through further research I was able to locate an
article on why females choose not to participate in sports. Armed with very useful tools I was ready to

The Great Betrayal By Modi And The Bjp
The Great Betrayal Act by Modi and the BJP is slowly but steadily unfolding. Credibility is rapidly
diminishing amongst majority of his followers, admirers, supporters and sympathizers. By aggressive
speech making during poll campaigning, Modi had endeared himself to the Aam Aadmi , particularly
sections of the Middle Class, by raising Great Expectations and hopes among them by Ache Din Aane
Wale Hain slogan. Modi s high decibel campaign promises included: Good Governance Simple and
Smart governance through transparency ; stemming the rot corruption, particularly in high places;
controlling price rise and inflation; upholding dignity and self respect of women; countering LoC
violations and terror acts firmly; and many others like One Rank One Pension etc., reduced to print in
the BJPs 2014 Election manifesto. A brief review of happenings during the last two months of Modi s
governance provide clear signals on what to expect in posterity. Transparency is the foremost pre
requisite for Good Governance Simple and Smart governance. Modi has also retracted into what was
derisively hailed during the UPA rule as Man Mohan Singh silent mode. After becoming PM, Modi
has insulated himself from the media glare. Even on the social media network, he is no longer as
aggressive and communicative on key issues as he was during the pre election orchestra. Why is Modi

Was Philip II of Spain a successful absolute monarch during his rule? Many people believe he had
what it took to be absolute monarch, but there were several constraints he faced as a ruler in Spain.
Philip II was known for building one of the largest empires from creating effective domestic and
foreign policies to gain leadership of his kingdom instead of the local authorities in charge, but he did
face problems while ruling the kingdom. His addressed many of these policies, such as the policy
against the Turks, but there were also many policies that were humiliating to his rule in power. Philip
II faced many problems, some of them as a result of his policies and some of them were to fix his
problems while in power. First of all, there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Trueman) In addition, there were many domestic and foreign policies Philip II created during his rule
in power. One policy he created was against the Muslims. As of the year that he created the policy, he
lost half of the strength of his navy from losing wars with the Turkish Empire, as talked about before (
Philip II ). While attempting to repair his navy back to its full strength once again, the Muslim pirates
attacked Spain. Prisoners were taken, but King Philip was able to bring back his navy, but soon
enough, the Turks attacked again and it was looking very poor for Spain at this point ( Good King
Philip? ). After many more small wars, both sides were left with very little military presence, so Spain
and France signed a truce. Philip II also created a two fold policy: He sent ministers to Portugal to
build up support for him being king which would have meant Spain absorbing Portugal into her
kingdom (Trueman). He also created a very large army, also stated above. The noblemen of Portugal
supported Philip II, and also clearly hoped to get rewards for their support. Nearly all of the problems
Philip II faced were results of his policies and problems that were soon to be fixed. To what extent was
Philip II an absolute monarch? Even though King Philip II made very delusional policies and
opinions, there was a very intelligent side to him. He was known to be a very successful monarch
because he was a strong leader who had contrary beliefs than

Some are now also assisting their clients in inventory planning and forecasting. As a result, many
services organizations no longer believe that they need to perform these activities themselves in
addition to the various manufacturing, sales and marketing, and customer service activities that they
are already performing on a day to day basis.
However, as more services organizations realize that the increasing costs of inventory management
and logistics are likely to impact both their bottom lines and their ability to support customers
especially if they are presently running either an outdated or otherwise inefficient operation to begin
with they may have some strong reservations with respect to outsourcing some of these key activities.
The greatest fear among most organizations is that outsourcing will almost immediately result in the
lessening of customer service performance, either real or perceived, and therefore, loss of control over
an historically critical component of their overall customer service and support equation.
Those organizations that have already moved toward outsourcing suggest that there are still many
ways in which to ensure that the organization retains control over these critical areas. It is true that
some still believe that there are no outsource vendors that are truly global in terms of their inventory
management and logistics capabilities that

Childhood Vaccines Research Paper
More than 70 viruses, parasites, fungi and bacteria are considered dangerous pathogens to the
humanity [1]. Vaccine administration has been the most creative and precious discovery in the
twentieth century [2]. For most of these pathogens vaccines are present and other vaccines under

bacteria such as staphylococcus aureus and about half of the parasites such as leishmania [1]. Vaccines

Persistent infection occurs when the agent succeeds in devastating or sidestepping elements of the
immune response. Acute infection occurs when a sublethal dose of the agent is controlled and quickly
removed by the immune system; most current vaccines are directed against such infections [6].
Adverse effects related to the vaccines of childhood are sometimes classified as early and late
reactions. Early reactions, within the first 24 hours, include swelling and erythema at the injection site,
prolonged crying, fever, syncope, seizures and seldom, anaphylaxis or hypotonic, hyporesponsive
episodes. While late reactions, within a few weeks after vaccine administration, include
encephalopathy and encephalitis and sometimes lead to brain damage [7]. Comprehensively, there is
no high scientific or clinical evidence that administration of any vaccine causes autism, asthma, a
specific allergy, the sudden infant death syndrome or multiple sclerosis [8]. There are some studies
which have assessed infant vaccinations as a substantial cause of infant mortality [9 14]. In several

Essay On The Fall Of The Aztec Empire
Often times people forget just how significant the fall of the Aztec empire is to our current culture. If
the Spanish never invaded the Aztec s there are a number of things that would be different today such
as Christianity might not have been spread because the Aztec s believed in serving many Gods as well
as effects such as the expansion of Mexico or the non existence of the Alamo. It is easy for people to
analyze the culture we live in but they frequently neglect how it became this way. The cultural
encounter of Spanish invading the Aztecs in the 1500 s was critical to world historic paths because
they helped guide the Spanish to colonize the Americas as well as the creation of Mexico all caused by
a number of factors such as religion, disease and War strategy.

came an enlightenment of new and more westernized civilization. The success of their Spaniard s
conquest led to the establishment of the Americas and Mexico. It cultivated modern day Mexico s
traditions as well as the Spanish language. It spread the belief of monotheism Christianity that would

importantly the Spanish helped lay down a firm foundation for customs to be interchanged and

Comparing Seated Statue Of Memi And Sabu
I cannot speak as to how well written this essay will end up, but in it, I will attempt to examine two
sculptures, the Statue of Memi and Sabu an Egyptian work and the Seated Statue of Gudea, which is a
Mesopotamian work.
First thing to note about both is the material, which will have some effect on the finished piece. The
Egyptian work, called The Royal Acquaintances Memi and Sabu, is carved from limestone, and there
are traces of paint on it, showing that at one time the figures may have looked much different than
they do today. The statue of Gudea, however, is made of a much harder material, called diorite, and
shows no signs of having been painted.
Given the purpose for each of these statues, I believe that the materials were chosen

Essay about A Critical Visual Analysis of a Work of Art
A Critical Visual Analysis of a Work of Art The piece of art that I chose to do my critical visual
analysis on will be the Birds of Paradise, painted by Frits van Eeden, in 1997. (Birds of Paradise)
Eeden was born in Tilburg, Holland, in March 1944 and grew up in The Hague. (Frits Van Eeden) For
the Birds of Paradise he used acrylic paint on canvas. This piece of art is located in the Evans Library,
at Florida Tech, in Melbourne, FL. When I look at the picture I see birds helping each other, they seem
to have harmony. One can get an impression of how people can co exist with one another. The Birds
of Paradise is a beautiful and bright color bird. They represent joyfulness and paradise. In this picture,
they look like cranes. I don t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eeden made the birds in his piece of art to look three dimensional. When you have three dimensional
shapes, the results seem to be some kind of form. In order to have form in art you have to have height,
width, and depth to enhance the texture, color, and tone in a given piece of art. The overall
organization also implies the form. With this piece of art, Eeden took the six birds which are standing
and organized them to appear symmetrically to be in a particular pattern. He put the birds in a
sculptural kind of design to make them look three dimensional. One of the birds seems to be picking
something off of the bird beside him. They seem to be caring for each other. Eeden has used
geometrical shapes to draw the birds. The curves of the birds are simple. The background of this piece
of art shows that it is a sunny, calm day with a strip of blue sky above the birds. The ground seems to
nonexistent. You can t see where the bird s feet meet the ground or maybe they are standing in water.
The quality given to a piece of art work is through the use of light. When asked about light in art they
are asking about the sun rays, candles, moons, flames, and many other sources of light. Artist use light
to create contrast in a given space. In Eeden s picture, Birds of Paradise, the birds are in the light. He
is demonstrating the type of environment the birds are living in. This explains why you can see the
bird s feet because the

What Is A Gap Year Essay
Many students feel a large amount of pressure and stress from school and the workload that comes
with it. The U.S. is strict when it comes to going to college; often you are expected to go right out of
high school, but what if we were not as strict and more lenient. People in England or Australia wait a
whole year after high school to go to college, this is called a gap year. Gap years are very beneficial
and helpful for students, however every great idea has its flaws.
A gap year is, of course, a year, where students after high school in some cases explore some part of
the world or a culture, with most kids exploring their interests or figuring out who they are and what
they want to do in life. Many colleges in the U.K. are far more likely ... Show more content on

The Effects Of Internet On The Internet
Negative Effects of the Internet Over time, the Internet is one of the best inventions and source to get
knowledge about any desired aspect. Using the Internet has become a necessary, daily routine. The
Internet has allowed people to stay in contact with others, be updated with the latest things happening
in the world, and get knowledge of anything we want within seconds. However, the Internet is not just
benefiting people but also harming people. The overuse of Internet has brought many negative effects
upon people. In the essays Isolated by the Internet , by Clifford Stoll, The Flight from Conversation ,
by Sherry Turkle, and Addicted to Technology by Gary Small and Gigi Vorgan, the authors share the
common perspective that over using the Internet negatively effects individuals. In their opinions the
use of Internet has negatively affected people mentally, socially, and has made them addicted to the
Internet. These effects brought concerns such as isolation, depression, addiction, loneliness, stress,
weak social ties, anonymity, and altering identities. Personally, I agree with the authors opinion of the
use of Internet and its mental, social, and addictive effects towards people. Although, the Internet is
sufficient to an individual there are many downs that have become serious issues in society today.
Even though the Internet can bring happiness to an individual, the overuse of the Internet has mentally
effects people by depression, stress, loneliness, and anxiety.

Max Weber’s The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of...
Max Weber s work The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism is arguably one of the most
important works in all of sociology and social theory, both classical and modern. In the decades since
its inception, this work has gone on to influence generations of social scientists with its analysis of the
effect of Protestantism on the development of modern industrial capitalism. This work, examining
such broad topics as religion, economics, and history, is not only an interesting and insightful look into
the history of the development of capitalism, but a major work in laying a foundation for future works
of social theory. Max Weber s main contention in this work is that what he calls the Protestant Ethic

Catholics are more likely to pursue a career in the crafts, and become master craftsmen, whereas
Protestants are more likely to seek work in factories, and become skilled workers and administrators
(Weber, 6). He says that the differences in the economic outcomes of the two different religious
groups can be seen the character of their religious beliefs, not just in the historical and material
conditions that they came from. Many claim that Catholics were more focused on other worldly
things, whereas Protestants were more materialistic in their outlook (Weber, 8). But Weber disagrees
with this, saying Hardly anything shows so clearly as this parallel that, with such vague ideas as that
of the alleged otherworldliness of Catholicism, and the alleged material joy of living of
Protestantism,...nothing can be accomplished for our purpose (Weber, 9). Protestantism combines an
aggressive capitalistic business sense with an extreme sense of piety and asceticism. The Protestant
denominations created a distinction between capital acquisition, which could be a good thing, and the
spending of wealth, which was considered immoral. Protestants did not accumulate wealth in order to
spend it, as many other groups would have done and had done throughout history. Therefore, Weber
states, If any inner relationship between certain expressions of the old Protestant spirit and modern
capitalistic culture is to be found, we must attempt to find it, for better or for worse not in its alleged

Real And Nominal Gdp Forecast
Real and Nominal GDP Forecasts Taking on account the historical data provided in the forecasts
developed by our Economic Research Group, we compared this year s forecasts with the performance
of the economy in the past using gross domestic product. Gross domestic product, measures the
monetary value of final goods and services that is, those that are bought by the final user produced in a
country in a given period of time (say a quarter or a year) according to the International Monetary
Fund. Based on this comparison, we determined that there has been a steady increase in gross
domestic product (GDP) in terms of Current Dollars, but there is a fluctuation between quarters under
Chained Dollars GDP. Current Dollars, also known as Nominal GDP, accounts for inflation changes
and uses current market prices while Chained Dollars, known as Real GDP, remove the effects of
inflation in its calculation and use prices from a base year. Using this data, we can project the real
growth rate for 2006 will decrease 2.56% quarterly, and 10.25% within the year, shown in Exhibit 2b.
We calculate the average growth rate using Real GDP because in the United States the growth rate that
the BEA reports is a quarter on quarter growth rate, which is the growth in real GDP from one quarter
to the next, according to The Motley Fool. These percentages tell us that there has been a significant
drop in real growth rates due to consumer confidence falling for the second month straight.

Improving Current System Of Police Reporting
5.5 Improvement to Current Situation
According to five factors that have been proposed, we had suggested some recommendations to
improve current system of police reporting in Malaysia which is the Police Reporting System (PRS) to
ensure that the function of the PRS will definitely helped to record and transfer the report in a better
and easier way.
5.5.1 Role
As mentioned above, role is very important factor in police reporting in order to make the report,
received statement from complainant, and most important thing is to transfer the report to another
police officers. As a recommendation, police organization in Malaysia can organize or provide a
training program for police personnel on duty at the enquiry office about the use and maintenance of
the PRS so that they can write the report quickly and also they know the function for every single
menu and button of the PRS. Plus, if the PRS are breakdown, the police personnel will know how to
fix the problem. Thus, it wills not wasting time to wait for the technical team to fix the problem and
also they no need to write the report manually in POL 55 and re type it once the PRS was fixed.
Besides that, enquiry officer also are encourage to more than one language. For instance, if the
complainant who come over to lodge a report does not know to speak Bahasa Malaysia, the enquiry
officer are able to speak another language like English, Mandarin, Tamil or any language that easy to
understand by the complainant.

Pet Food Recall Of Pet Pets
I remember the first night the news announced the pet food recall. I jumped up and got online quickly
to make sure the food I feed my pets was not on the list. Thank goodness it wasn t. But that doesn t
mean that I don t still worry about it. I m still feeding them the same food, but I am watching my pets

I know what is going into the ingredients and if anything is tainted, it will make me sick, too. Most of
the ingredients for these homemade dog biscuits are items already in my kitchen. A few years ago, my

Definition Essay on Sportsmanship
Definition Essay on Sportsmanship Abstract Although it is very common to mention the term
Sportsmanship during any sports event, very few individuals are actually familiar with the true
definition of the word. For some it is the behavioral aspect shown by the participating teams or
athletes while others it is more than just a routine behavior and is associated with the deep rooted
respect of the opponent as well as the outcome of an event. Sportsmanship is known to be an
aspiration which supports the argument that any sporting activity should be enjoyed without the worry
of a desired outcome. Here the proper consideration of respect, fairness, ethics, and the demonstration
of fellowship with the competitors are shown. In this regard, the term Sore Loser is referred to
someone who refuses to accept defeat whereas Good Sport defines anyone being either a good loser or
a good winner. Sportsmanship could also be conceptualized as a stable disposition or characteristic in
which the participants of any sporting event behave differently as compared to what is expected from
them especially in unwanted outcomes. In a more general sense, sportsmanship refers to different
virtues like courage, fairness, persistence, self control, and has also been closely linked with
interpersonal concepts of the way of treating others as well as being treated fairly, respecting authority
and opponents, and maintaining proper self control when dealing with others. Sportsmanship can also

Cruelty and Mans Inhumanity
POTENTIAL FOR MAN S INHUMANITY TO MAN
The novel Night shows that there is great inhumanity and cruelty displayed from this personal journey
of Elie Wiesel. The Nazi are the ringleaders behind it all gradually making the Jews feel like nothing
and only pawns for work. The Germans strip the Jews to nothing and take away everything close to
them, separation from loved ones, isolation, transportation and the ruthless, cold actions towards them
in the camps such as starvation, selections of the fittest and the struggle of survival becomes essential
for their own self. However there are humane acts within the book which help Elie overcome some
struggles and survive the brutality of the camps and war.
This was all true to a great degree ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
. . Don t cry. Keep your anger, your hate, for another day, for later. The day will come but not now. . .
Wait. Clench your teeth and wait. . . Another act of kindness and human display is during the
separation when an inmate had asked how old Elie was, actually asking so he could offer advice, you
would think that the inmates in the camp had already suffered and endured the hardships of the camp
and wouldn t care about anyone but their own survival but this man had cared enough to tell him to lie
about his age and his work for a better chance. He questioned them on why they had come hear telling
them they should have hung themselves rather than coming here to Auschwitz.
All of this inhumanity had forced Elie to grow up and experience the loss of his innocence. All of the
violence, brutality and needs of survival had made him not care about anyone but himself. As his
father was dying taking his last breaths Elie had ignored the calls of his name and was relieved in the
morning to see that his father had passed, he was free from the burden of carrying his father around
caring for him as his father had once done for Elie. Elie had changed and his father had become old
and whiny needing for Elie to be with him. In the end Elie had done his own act of inhumanity by
letting his father he struck to

Obedience To Authority In Cool Hand Luke
*There are many movies that make the contrast of the lives of prisoners and their guards. So often do
we see a colorful group of people who struggle under the control of a tyrannical leader, struggling to
keep both their spirits and sanity up. Cool Hand Luke is not an exception to these films. However, it
does contain a main character with a nonchalant type attitude that irks his superiors and earns respect
from his fellow prisoners, which is not often seen. This leads to him becoming a very popular
character in the prison, specifically to his new admirer Dragline. Dragline the former head honcho
among the prisoners grew quite fond of Luke due to his admiration for Luke s coolness. This new
relationship would cause Dragline as well as Luke ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These situations would most often be caused by the hierarchical structure amongst the inmates rather
than, between them and the guards. In my essay I will show how the rise in power by Luke and the
drop in power of Dragline exhibit themes of obedience to authority, conformity and non conformity.*
Before Luke came around Dragline played the role of the boss beneath the bosses. He would keep
people in line, resulting in him and the guards having an unspoken understanding. He conforms to
rules and standards he is expected to and the other inmates follow suit. This shows when the new
inmates (including Luke) showed up, and one of them gets scammed into buying a better job that does
not exist. He tells the boss he made a deal with the inmate only to find out it wasn t real and gets a
night in the box. Dragline believes he deserved it, stating he back sassed a free man, they got their
rules and we ain t got nothing to do with that. He gotta learn the rules the same as anybody else.
(Rosenberg, Caroll, 1967). These are the type of situations that have given Dragline the type of power
he possess. If he complies with what his authorities tell him to, he himself will gain some sort of
power over people beneath

Essay on Charlemagne
Charlemagne The two lives of Charlemagne as told by Einhard and Notker the Stammerer are very
different accounts of the life of the great Emperor. Einhard gives us a historical overview of the life of
Charlemagne who lived from 742 to 814 A.D. Charlemagne was also known as Charles the Great and
the King of the Franks.Charles was one of four children born to Pepin the Short, A Mayor of the
Palace of the Carolingian Empire. He had one brother, Carloman and two sisters, Gisela and

against many including the Bretons, Bavaria, the Slavs, Esthonians, Danes and an especially long

He is also remembered because of the Carolingian Renaissance which took place under his direction
and leadership. Although he was not a learned man, he revered and respected knowledge. He attracted
many scholars to his palace. Theology and the literary
Skills became a part of the everyday life in the palace for nobles and common people of talent as well.
Many building projects were also undertaken during this time of renaissance including two
magnificent palaces the cathedral of the church of the Holy Mother of God at Aachen, the bridge over
the Rhine at Mainz, the restoration of many sacred buildings which had fallen into disrepair, and the
building of a naval and coastguard fleet to protect the ports and mouths of rivers from enemy attack.
Charlemagne died at the age of 72 and designed his only surviving son Lewis as heir to his kingship.
He was interred at his beloved cathedral in 814 A.D. In his will, he provided for the church, the cities
in the kingdom, all of his children, grandchildren, palace workers, servants and the poor.

It encompasses the sunset of April 30th, which is May Eve, to the sunset of May 1st, which is the actual May Day. The most significant time of this festival is between dawn and sunrise. It is a key element of the annual cycle and is one of four of the True Quarters, which also includes Samhain, Saint Brigid s Day, and Lúnasa. The cyclic nature of Bealtaine connects to both the daily cycle and the life cycle, which highlights how cycles are central elements in one s life. The daily cycle of waking up and sleeping can be extended into the annual cycle of the seasons, which then can be further amplified into the cycle of life and death. Bealtaine is a crucial marker in the year that serves as the start of not only summer, but as a predictor of the rest of the year. A grave was discovered to have been disturbed. Within the grave, the rotting body had all of his fat stolen from him. Eventually it was concluded that the superstitious amongst the peasantry imagine that the possession of a candle made from the lard of a corpse furtively abstracted from a cemetery is a safe guard against all dangers. • 6. Newton s Three Laws of Motion Newton s 3 Laws of Motion One of the most influential and top contributors to the world of physics to me is Sir Isaac Newton. Father of modern science, Sir Isaac Newton was born on January 4th, 1643 in Woolsthorpe by Colsterworth, United Kingdom and died on March 31st 1727, Kensington, London, United Kingdom. He was an English physicist and mathematician who formulated three laws of motion that help explain some of the very important principles of physics. Some of Newton s laws could only be proved under certain conditions; but actual observation and trial experiments assured the validity of his work. According to Isaac Newton s laws he tells us how objects move by describing the relationship between force and motion. The First Law of Isaac Newton s laws of motion states that an object at rest will stay at rest until acted on by larger force. When the object is at rest it is called inertia. Objects in motion will stay in motion until stopped by a larger force. What this simply means is that an object will not move if an unbalanced force does not affect it. It also states that if the object begins to move, that the object will continue to move in the same direction until a larger force stops the object. Example if you were to put a dodge ball on a computer chair (roll able chair) and were to roll the chair the dodge ball and the chair would be moving in the same direction. • 11. A Report On The Resin Based Adhesives Summary The Aracuo mill in Sault Ste Marie manufactures a range of medium density fibreboard (MDF) composite panels as well as a wide selection of thermally fused laminates (Arauco, 2016). The resin based adhesives used in the manufacturing process of these materials create a source for airborne formaldehyde in the workplace. This presents a substantial health concern for workers in the Sault Ste. Marie Facility. Subsequently, routine air sampling is conducted to ensure safe working conditions. At present the Arauco Sault Ste. Marie facility maintains an air sampling program using the NIOSH 2016, Issue 2 method. While the current program is cost effective it has numerous limitations, such as limited sampling locations and infrequent collection of data. It is recommended that the Arauco Sault Ste. Marie facility consider implementing a more comprehensive air sampling program. While this would likely increase program costs, changes to the air sampling approach would remove sampler error, greatly increase the quantity of data collected, and extend sampling locations throughout the facility. Implementation of some or all of these recommendations would greatly increase the comprehensiveness of the air sampling program. 1.0 Introduction Arauco manufactures a range of sustainable wood products including the industry s most comprehensive selection of composite panels, premium plywood, millwork, lumber, and wood pulp (Arauco, 2016). In conjunction with his dominant conflict style, he threatens, the more you tell me to, the more I won t, which qualifies as a threat, because it meets the two required criteria. First, the source of the threat must control the outcome. Earl controls the outcome of the situation since he has the ability to either obey or disobey Dianne. Secondly, the threat must be seen as negative by the recipient. In this case, the recipient Dianne sees the condition of Earl s comment as negative since she will not get her way (Wilmot and Hocker, 159). Earl uses the threat in an attempt to put an end to his mother s current and future demands. However, the use of a threat begs the question, what is gained? Food security and clean water are indispensable to survival, and how do societies react when exogenous variables prohibit access to the basic staples of life? Manfred Steger speaks briefly on globalization and environmental degradation and fails to draw real conclusions about the impact of climate change on social, political, and economic stability. In Steger s A Brief Introduction to Globalization, he contends that, how people view their natural environment depends to a great extent on their cultural milieu... [And] the US dominated culture industry seeks to convince its global audience that the meaning and chief value of life can be found in the limitless accumulation of material possessions (2003, p. 86). He later contends that a revision of our current extractivist oriented cultural regime must occur as a response to our pleading planet, as if only culture were to blame (2003, p. 92). This paper underlines the connectedness of climate change and social unrest and uses case studies from the Arab Spring to color the arching narrative that the awakening was catalyzed and intensified by climate change. Egypt and Unsuspecting Syria The normal consensus is that rising food prices helped create the conditions for the Arab Spring (Klein 2014). When you have three dimensional shapes, the results seem to be some kind of form. In order to have form in art you have to have height, width, and depth to enhance the texture, color, and tone in a given piece of art. The overall organization also implies the form. With this piece of art, Eeden took the six birds which are standing and organized them to appear symmetrically to be in a particular pattern. He put the birds in a sculptural kind of design to make them look three dimensional. One of the birds seems to be picking something off of the bird beside him. They seem to be caring for each other. Eeden has used geometrical shapes to draw the birds. The curves of the birds are simple. The background of this piece of art shows that it is a sunny, calm day with a strip of blue sky above the birds. The ground seems to nonexistent. The Internet has allowed people to stay in contact with others, be updated with the latest things happening in the world, and get knowledge of anything we want within seconds. In the decades since its inception, this work has gone on to influence generations of social scientists with its analysis of the effect of Protestantism on the development of modern industrial capitalism. This work, examining such broad topics as religion, economics, and history, is not only an interesting and insightful look into the history of the development of capitalism, but a major work in laying a foundation for future works of social theory. Catholics are more likely to pursue a career in the crafts, and become master craftsmen, whereas Protestants are more likely to seek work in factories, and become skilled workers and administrators (Weber, 6). He says that the differences in the economic outcomes of the two different religious groups can be seen the character of their religious beliefs, not just in the historical and material conditions that they came from. Many claim that Catholics were more focused on other worldly things, whereas Protestants were more materialistic in their outlook (Weber, 8). But Weber disagrees with this, saying Hardly anything shows so clearly as this parallel that, with such vague ideas as that of the alleged otherworldliness of Catholicism, and the alleged material joy of living of Protestantism,...nothing can be accomplished for our purpose (Weber, 9). Protestantism combines an aggressive capitalistic business sense with an extreme sense of piety and asceticism. The Protestant denominations created a distinction between capital acquisition, which could be a good thing, and the spending of wealth, which was considered immoral. Protestants did not accumulate wealth in order to spend it, as many other groups would have done and had done throughout history. Therefore, Weber states, If any inner relationship between certain expressions of the old Protestant spirit and modern capitalistic culture is to be found, we must attempt to find it, for better or for worse not in its alleged ... Real And Nominal Gdp Forecast Real and Nominal GDP Forecasts Taking on account the historical data provided in the forecasts developed by our Economic Research Group, we compared this year s forecasts with the performance of the economy in the past using gross domestic product. Gross domestic product, measures the monetary value of final goods and services that is, those that are bought by the final user produced in a country in a given period of time (say a quarter or a year) according to the International Monetary Fund. Based on this comparison, we determined that there has been a steady increase in gross domestic product (GDP) in terms of Current Dollars, but there is a fluctuation between quarters under Chained Dollars GDP. Current Dollars, also known as Nominal GDP, accounts for inflation changes and uses current market prices while Chained Dollars, known as Real GDP, remove the effects of inflation in its calculation and use prices from a base year. Using this data, we can project the real growth rate for 2006 will decrease 2.56% quarterly, and 10.25% within the year, shown in Exhibit 2b. We calculate the average growth rate using Real GDP because in the United States the growth rate that the BEA reports is a quarter on quarter growth rate, which is the growth in real GDP from one quarter to the next, according to The Motley Fool. For some it is the behavioral aspect shown by the participating teams or athletes while others it is more than just a routine behavior and is associated with the deep rooted respect of the opponent as well as the outcome of an event. Sportsmanship is known to be an aspiration which supports the argument that any sporting activity should be enjoyed without the worry of a desired outcome.
