Are Prozac And Similar Antidepressants Safe And Effective...
Are Prozac and similar antidepressants safe and effective for children and adolescents?
Approximately ten percent of our youth suffer from a deppresive/anxiety disorder. The youth of our
society are being treated with anti depressants such as prozac; which, carry a black box warning. The
FDA has required that boxed warnings be placed on all antidepressant medications warning they may
result in increased risk of suicidal tendencies in children, and young adults aged 18 24 years old. The
black box warning is the highest warning that can labeled on any medication. It means there has been
significant research completed to show a legitimate concern for the well being of the population who
is prescribed the medication. It is scientifically proven that children s bodies do not absorb and process
drugs the same way that a fully grown adult can, and their brains may critically be affected as well.
Society, parents, doctors and adolescence themselves are forced to make; what could be, a life
changing decision on whether to medicate with the potential for disaster or not medicate and allow the
child to continue suffering from a psychological disorder. It is clear that both the risks of medicating
and not medicating are suggestively the greatest during the early years of life. The question that arises
is whether we should or shouldn t take the risk. A child s response to a medication cannot be
determined with one hundred percent certainty. It is very difficult to isolate

The Five Eighty Eight By John Cheever
What personality traits do we display with our actions? Our personalities are shaped by our life
experiences and the people around us. They re shaped by our upbringing, the way our parents treated
us and the many thing we learned from them. They re shaped by our past experiences whether a being
on the receiving end of a kind deed by another person, or the receiving end of a gross injustice. These
experiences shape our personalities and in turn shape how we view the world and treat those around
us. John Cheever s The Five Forty Eight is the story about a woman trying to put herself back together
after being broken, albeit in a slightly questionable way. Miss Dent is a woman who previously spent
8 months in a hospital, and is still clearly a bit unhinged. She is a fragile woman who becomes
attached to Mr. Blake after he hires her as his secretary. Mr. Blake sees how vulnerable she is and
takes advantage of her, afterwards having an employee fire her and keep her from seeing him. Months
later Miss Dent stalks Mr. Blake, cornering him on the Five Forty Eight. Mr. Blake is terrified, but
Miss Dent claims she will not kill him as long as he listens to her. After Miss Dent has made him feel
the way he made her, she leaves him on the platform; weeping as he made her, but unharmed. Many
aspects of Mr. Blake s personality are displayed throughout the story as we observe his thoughts and
the way he treats others. Two powerful personality traits dominate Mr. Blake in John Cheever s

Charles Manson once said You know, a long time ago being crazy meant something, nowadays
everyone is crazy. Charles Manson was the man who brought fear into Los Angeles by brainwashing
people to become part of his cult and together they formed The Family and killed 9 innocent people.
During the Manson Murders many of the people in Los Angeles did not feel quite safe due to the fact
that these killings were random and many felt as if anybody could be the next victim. Charles Manson
was born on November 12th, 1934 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was the son of sixteen year old Kathleen
Maddox, and Colonel Scott who left Kathleen during her pregnancy. (Guinn 39) According to

The Family consisted mainly of Susan Atkins, Leslie Van Houten, Patricia Krenwinkel, Charles Tex
Watson, Bobby Beausoleil, Mary Brunner, and Lynette Squeaky Fromme. Manson s motive to begin
killing all started when he had told the family Helter Skelter was coming, Helter Skelter was the
uprising of a racial war between the blacks and the whites. Manson would facilitate this war by killing
the whites and implicating the African American community with various acts. (crimemuseum.org)
Charles Manson s first killing involved Gary Hinman, he was a very close friend of Charles Manson
and allowed Manson and members of the family to stay at his house instead of staying at the Spahn
Ranch. During this time Manson was having trouble with money with a guy named Crowe. Manson
shot Crowe under the impression that he was part of the Blank Panthers, however Crowe did not die
from the shot and Manson feared revenge and left. (law2.umkc.edu) Manson was in desperate need of
money and soon later heard from a family member that Gary Hinman had gotten money from an
inheritance. Charles Manson sent Bobby Beausoleil, Mary Brunner, and Susan Atkins to pay Hinman
a visit and tell Hinman to hand over the money. Gary Hinman was very uncooperative and was held
hostage for a couple of days. Manson finally came in and sliced Hinmans left ear, Hinman was

Race in Amerca
Race, simple external differences linked to other complex internal differences, has historically created
issues in American society. Race and racial inequalities are one of the most vital issues confronting
contemporary U.S. society, explains Sociologist Ronald Takaki. In the past race has had both
biological and social implications across the country.
However, the video Race: The Power of Illusion presents significant evidence refuting the biological
theories of race. Cold Springs Harbor Laboratory instructor Scott Bronson and several high school
students from different ethnicities conducted personal genetic research exploring biological race
theory. Students typed their blood, compared skin tones and took DNA samples. After sending the
samples to a genetics lab, Bronson asked students whom they might expect to be more genetically
similar to in the workshop. The consensus of the students was that they would each be genetically
comparable to others in the group with similar physical attributes.
Noah, a white male expected to be similar to another white male in the group and Mr. Bronson. Two
other students, a male and female of African descent, believed they would similar despite their gender
differences. When the lab work came back, Mr. Bronson and the students evaluated the results and the
students were quite surprised. They discovered those students of African descent had more genetic
differences than the rest of the group combined. Supporting the student s findings

Value Creation Essay
Value creation
Two basic conditions determine a firm s profits: the amount of value customers place on the firm s
goods or services and the firm s costs of production. In general, the more value customers place on a
firm s products, the higher the price the firm can charge for those products. Note, however, that the
price a firm charges for a good and service is typically less then the value placed on that good or
service by the customer. This is so because the customer captures some of that value in the form of
what economists call a consumer surplus.
The value creation by a firm is measured by the difference between the amount of value customers
place on the firm s goods or services (V) and firm s cost of production. Michael porter has ... Show

Mexico has 3 distinct adv over asia. First, it is nearer to US. Second, it has a cheap labor. Third, the
north american free trade agreement has removed many barriers between US and mexico.
Another caveat concerns the importance of assessing political and economic risks when making
location decisions. Even if a country looks very attractive as a production location when measured
against all the standard criteria, if its govt is unstable or totalitarian, the firm might be advised not to
base production there. Or inappropriate economic policies by the govt.
Experience effects
The experience curve refers to systematic reductions in production costs that have been observed to
occur over the life of a product. A number of studies have observed that product s production costs
decline by some quantity about each time accumulated output doubles. The relationship was first
observed in the aircraft industry, where each time accumulated output of airframes was doubled, unit
costs typically declined to 80% of their previous level and it continues.
Experience effects are caused due to: learning effects and economies of scale.
(draw the experience curve pg 419)
Learning effects
Learning effects refer to cost savings that come from learning by doing. Labor, for example, learns by
repetition how to carry out a task, such as assembling airframes, most efficiently. Labor productivity
increases over time as individuals learn the most efficient ways

Abuse Of Language In Animal Farm, By George Orwell
The abuse of language (propaganda) is instrumental to the abuse of power. This is portrayed
throughout the book Animal Farm by George Orwell. For example, Squealer and Napoleon are two
characters that the author uses to portray the abuse of power. Squealer and Napoleon had misused their
powers, but justified their action through the use of propaganda. Thus, through the use of propaganda,
Squealer and Napoleon were able to manipulate the other animals way of thinking. Not only is
propaganda used in books, magazines, and articles, but are also used by leaders, politicians, and
companies to influence the public, attract attention, and to gain powers. Therefore, the use of
propaganda is one of the main tools that is used to manipulate others and a way to justify one s wrong
behavior, such as the abuse of power. Squealer, the appointed speaker among the pigs, uses
propaganda as a way to gain power. The animals describe Squealer as a brilliant talker... he could turn
black into white (16). He was to make sure the animals believe that Napoleon is a righteous leader,
even though in reality he is not. An example of how Squealer uses propaganda to abuse his power is
when he made excuses for the animal s reduced rations. He had no difficulty in proving to the other
animals that they were not in reality short of food...it had been found necessary to make a
readjustment of rations...in comparison with the days of Jones, the improvement was enormous (112

He was a deist, a strong proponent of religious freedom, and a critic of tyrannical governments.
Candide became part of his large, diverse body of philosophical, political and artistic works

As Voltaire himself described it, the purpose of Candide was to bring amusement to a small number of
men of wit .[2] The author achieves this goal by combining his sharp wit with a fun parody of the
classic adventure romance plot. Candide is confronted with horrible events described in painstaking
detail so often that it becomes humorous.Candide is primarily, as described by Voltaire s biographer
Ian Davidson, short, light, rapid and humorous .[9][58]

The Similarities Of Jack Ma And Indra Nooyi
Jack Ma and Indra Nooyi share very common similarities regarding their leadership stories which
appear to be strong catalysts in shaping their leadership purpose. They both came from rather simple
beginnings, Indra was raised by a strict conservative Brahmin family in Southern India and Jack was
repeatedly rejected for his plans of starting an internet company in America. Not deterred by that
experience Jack then returned to China with no money but a solid business idea. While it is clear in

Along with this they both have excellent cognitive and behavioural complexity spoken of by Quinn et

living in a world and worrying about the level of returns rather than the sustainability of the returns

the next CEO to pick up the debris (Institute 2014). By putting the company ahead of her own ego this
again draws a strong correlation to the humble nature of Jack Ma and his plan of sustainability for the
people and small business owners of China. Jack appears to be someone who wishes to change China
and ultimately the world for the better, made clear by him saying I don t feel proud of how much
money I ve made, I feel proud at how much I ve been able to help small business (Business 2011), and
to have people stop him in the street commenting they opened a small store on TaoBao and they re

strengthened by him saying When you have 1 billion, that s not your money, that s the societies trust

Field Recording History
One of numerous terms imperative to the scope of this document is field recording. A literal
interpretation (i.e., to record in a field) falls short of what is encompassed. In contrast to the type of
recording with which many musicians may be familiar, within a highly controlled space exhibiting
minimal extraneous sound, field recording is audio recording conducted outside a recording studio.
This comes without exception, acquiring sounds produced by life, nature, or anything else present.
Noted field recordist and ecologist Bernie Krause (b. 1938) categorized the diverse sounds one may
record into three categories. Geophony refers to non biological sounds produced by the earth (e.g.,
wind, water). Sounds made by the species of the recorded area are classified as biophony, while
human generated sounds of any kind are referred to as anthrophony.
Field recording, recording ostensibly in the field in contrast to the studio, provides discernible
explanation. That said, one may frequently find phonography used to describe the same activity.

Why We Should Not Bring Dog To Work
A company, known as The Redmond Marketing Company , has thought of a program allowing
workers to bring their dogs to work. While this has some benefits, I oppose this because of many
reasons. I believe workers shouldn t bring their dogs to work because dogs aren t liked by everyone,
some aren t trained well, and they need constant attention.
The first reason I am against bringing dogs to work is the fact that dogs aren t liked by everyone. In
this world, nobody s perfect and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. With this being said, not
everyone likes the same things. While one may love dogs, another might dislike them because of
health or mental reasons. Bringing dogs to work can possibly harm or alter a employee s health or
performance. This is shown in the passage where it states, Companies are legally required to provide a
safe, healthy work environment for their employees. Allowing dogs in the office is likely to cause
physical or psychological distress for some employees, creating an unhealthy workplace for them.
This evidence shows that dogs aren t liked by everyone because they can have negative effects on
some people, especially at work. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While some dogs may behave well at home, they could change and act different around strangers. This
could lead to problems for the individuals and the company. All of this is shown in the passage where
it says, Even pets that are well behaved at home may act unpredictably in a new environment or
around unfamiliar people. Not only could this be distracting and stressful for workers, but ill behaved
dogs may bite or trip someone. This would be bad for the company as well as for the dog s owner,
who could be sued by the injured employee. This evidence supports my belief that dogs, even ones
that are trained and well behaved at home, shouldn t be brought to

The Canadian innovation commercialization program was developed in 2012 (Government Services
Canada, 2017). To develop leadership and talent for innovation, the think tank also suggested a
national learning strategy to raise the average competency level of Canadians. This policy suggestion
has not been put into action which may give support to the forum discussion, where it was suggested
that countries are shifting their educational responsibility towards greater privatization and
commercialization (Regmi, 2017, February 1). By handing over educational responsibilities to
commercial forces, Canada may evade the long established responsibility of OECD countries to
follow fundamental educational values based on social justice and equality (Brown Tannok, 2009). At
a local level and as an educator and parent, I see no indication that schooling is preparing students for
innovation and creativity. Even when influenced by constructivist or universal design ideas, school
tasks starting in elementary school, up until CEGEP are generally highly structured, predictable and

Lobbyist Government
Federal Lobbying
In the United States, there are more than fifty different versions of lobbying laws in states and
territories. On the Federal level, lobbying is defined as being any communication made on behalf of a
client to members of Congress, congressional staffers, the president, White House staff and high level
employees of nearly 200 agencies, regarding the formulation, modification, or adoption of legislation.
Though there is much disagreement about lobbyists, there have been laws enacted to try and control
them and those who abuse lobbying. There is always room for improvement with regards to lobbying
laws, because there is still your classic loop holes that people use to avoid being in violation of the
law.

Since lobbyists only have to report twice a year, there is a significant lack of paperwork being filed,
which can mean that a bill can be passed before anyone is able to find out what lobbyists did to pass it.
Hundreds of millions of dollars are not being accounted for and are being exempt from disclosure; we
are not seeing how the money is being spent. Lobbyists donate large sums of money to a politician to
support their campaign, and the only way we see the money spent is if we see a television ad, or a sign
on the side of the road. These systems need to be updated with our rising technology.
The second section, slowing the revolving door, would extend the revolving door cooling off period to
two years and include prohibition on all lobbying activity during that period. Those whom were once
members of Congress and turned to lobbying should be stripped of their special access including perks
and privileges with their colleagues. The third section, states to prohibit registered lobbyists from
making, soliciting, or arranging for campaign contributions to those whom they lobby, in addition to
prohibiting privately sponsored travel for government officials and their staff.
Additionally, we need to establish some sort of agency that would act under Congress to help monitor
and enforce federal lobbying, travel, gift and ethics law. With having an agency

Steganography is an art and science, which is use to write hidden messages in such a way that no one
can read/understand the existing of the messages except the receiver[1]. It is an art of secret
communication.
For this communication different types of file formats can be used, because of better frequency over
the internet using digital images are preferred. To hide the secrets in images, there are many
steganography techniques used.
In image steganography there are different kind of domains used for hiding information into a image
and images are categorized in several types.
Mainly we get ideas to hide information in images using defined algorithms and crack that secret
information again using same algorithms.

Steganography methods :
There are different types of steganographic techniques. Digital images technique is one the most
popular technique.
Graphic Interchange Formats (GIF), Joint Photographic Expert Group (JPEG), and to a lesser extent :
the Portable Network Graphics (PNG) are most popular image formats on the internet.

Analysis Of Virginia Woolf s Mrs. Dalloway
A key belief within our society is that there are many sides to any story, and to gain full understanding,
one more confront and engage with all aspects. There are instances, however, when the scope of the
story makes the full truth unattainable. This is the case of World War I. The Great War was nearly
impossible to understand while it was taking place, and although nearly one hundred years have
passed, little concrete clarity has been achieved regarding the overall truths and experiences of this
war. Claire Tylee, a historian who focuses on the woman s role in World War I, highlights the ineffable
aspect of the war even for the most skilled authors, saying that: reviewing a novel in 1917, Virginia
Woolf suggested that the War was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And the war goes on, indifferent to these human actions, meaningless, destructive, and apparently
endless (Hynes, 127). This was a war that touched every aspect of human life, even diluting something
as pure as love. Living with another but in internal isolation became extremely common because: all
wars divide divide not only our side from theirs, but soldiers from civilians, men from women, one
generation from another, war lovers from war haters. These divisions don t end with the war s last
shot: they continue into the following years... (Hynes, 337). The Great War created a new kind of love
story, thus reflecting the truths and lasting impacts on all corners of society. After this war, the
previous perception of love was no longer attainable, as each individual lived in the harsh reality
brought upon by extreme isolation of experience.
The climate upon returning home can be understood by observing the strain in even the closest
relationships, thus showing the isolation endured within society. Since Septimus and Rezia met during
wartime, their relationship fit within the context of chaos, so when placed in a quiet city, the
relationship that they had built crumbled. This partially was due to inconsistency in experience, as it
was impossible to understand what someone else had gone through. Septimus, for example, had lost
his best friend and lover in battle, yet had never let himself confront these feelings. Rezia, on the other

The Declaration Of Rights And Grievances
By 1765, at a Stamp Act Congress, all but four colonies were represented as the Declaration of Rights
and Grievances was passed. They were determined to let Parliament know that they were equal to
British citizens, that there would be no taxation without representation, and all efforts to stop tax on
colonists would continue (Kennedy, etal 2011.) Although Lord Rockingham, the predecessor of
Grenville, sought to repeal of the Stamp Act, this in no way meant Parliament was conceding their
control. In fact, while the Stamp Act was repealed, another called the Declaratory Act of 1766, gave
Parliament the authority to make laws binding the American Colonies, in all cases whatsoever. In
1767, George III passed the Townshend Acts to collect tax on glass, lead, paints, paper and, tea.
Recognizing that tea was a favorite among the Americans, it ensured greater revenue the British
government. Again, the colonists rights for representation were ignored and they started to boycott
British goods and ultimately, smuggle tea. When the Quartering Act was passed, which specified that
colonists were to give room and board to British troops, tension began to rise. For two years, the
colonists tolerated British troops on their soil and their dissatisfaction with the British Parliament and
King George III became evident through many violent riots, abusiveness of tax collectors and
destruction of property. According to Kennedy, etal (2011), Parliament, continually met with

Outbreak Of A Rare Species Of E. Coli
Last summer 2011, Germany stumbled upon an outbreak of a rare species of E. coli O104:H4
(Pennington 2011). The causative strains appeared to have features from two different E. coli
pathotypes of enteroaggregative E. coli (EAEC) and shiga toxin producing E. coli (STEC) called
enterohaemorrhagic E. coli (EHEC) (Bloch, Felczykowska and Nejman Faleńczyk 2012). The main
effect from this strain causes major incident of gastroenteritis and unusual develop of haemolytic
uremic syndrome (HUS) among the affected patients (Rasko et al 2011). HUS often described as
group of disease of haemolytic anaemia, acute renal failure and thrombocytopenia (Schifferli eta al
2009). And it is known to be the result of infection by pathogens that produce shiga toxin (Walker,
Applegate and Black 2012). This particular strain possessed several identical characteristics with some
older STEC cases but with different serotypes such as E. coli O105:H7, O121:H19 and O111:H8
(Scheutz et. al 2011). At the end of the outbreak, nearly 3500 cases of EHEC were recorded with 850
patients experience the progression to HUS and 82 deaths (RKI 2011).
On 1st May, hospital in Germany received patient with gastroenteritis symptoms and believed to be
the first case that linked with the outbreak (Altmann et al 2011). As of the first week of May, which
was the presumed initial onset of the disease, HUS cases started to develop and around 0 to 2 new
cases of HUS were recorded daily. Then, since 9th May, it started to show

The greatest factor within health care between social and racial divides is that of a socioeconomic
status. The rich are given more opportunities and advantages than the poor, a common history that is
also found between white and minorities. Minorities make up a majority of the lower class society due
to oppression and lack of opportunities that can be used to gain upward social mobility. The elite and
upper class are more readily available to gain intellect about current medical trials that show
advancement in health issues. The elite are educated and they have financial strengths that allow them
advantages that the lower class lack. While there are other integrated factors, such as, underlying
health issues and racial disparities the main issue is socioeconomic status. In Marxism theory this
would be comparable in that the bourgeoisie are exploiting the proletarians by not providing adequate
healthcare opportunities. Additionally, W.E.B. DuBois would use the color line theory, by showing
that there is a pure divide between races. The lower social class is mostly those of racial and ethnic
backgrounds and therefore this divide in social class is also a racial class

Apple Is A Violation Of Apple s First Amendment Rights
Apple is currently going through the court system a lot these days; being one of the biggest tech cases
of 2016. The FBI and the U.S. government want to take over the control of the iPhone. They want
Apple to override the encryption feature to be allowed to crack the password. Currently, the new
features only allow the owner to crack the password. Apple is arguing that the request is a violation of
Apple s First Amendment rights. Apple can face some contractual issues which may contribute to the
problems they are currently facing. The first issue is that tech companies should not be required to
have an entry way into their products. How can a customer trust a company that does not have their
privacy as part of their contract? Customers value their privacy to the utmost fullest. Apple believes
that this will weaken the security of their computer systems and consumer s privacy protection. Next,
if you are a company that is viewed as being too vocal, it can jeopardize government sales as well as
relationships with law enforcement. Apple has noticed that many companies often comply with the
request, but that feels this again is a violation of their rights as a company and the millions of
customers they cover as a company. Will they ever be trusted? Will they continue to have the same
customers or lose to their competitors? Apple also makes a lot of their money through advertising.
Everyone wants to have the next and the new iPhone, but if Apple has a bad

The Impact Of Stereotypes And Stereotypes
The Impact of Stereotypes
Stereotype:
1. A widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing.
2. A person or thing that conforms to a widely held but oversimplified image of the class or type to
which they belong.
Stereotypes are one of the most common issues, today and throughout history, that cause our nation to
be divided. It has a problem inside and out of country. Stereotypes range from false guarantees to bad
interpretations. According to Facing History and Ourselves: Holocaust and Human Behavior,

However, they should not be chastised for their decision.
Throughout history, there have been many experiments and works of literature showcasing the effect
and various perspectives of being marginalized in society. For example, the prose essay written by
Fang Gao titled, What it means to be a model minority : voices of ethnic Koreans in Northeast China.
In this article, he explains the different opinions and struggles that Koreans have, living in China. Gao
suggests that Koreans and Asians share the same racials label: portrayed as a model minority that is
primed for socioeconomic advancement and academic success (qtd. in Gao 55). This stereotype has a
negative effect on both the Chinese and Korean population. The stereotype of a model minority is
making it challenging for Koreans to become their own individual ethnic group in China. Thus,
making them feel unrecognized and marginalized into the chinese population. For instance, some
people are proud to be a Korean in China because it often implies the struggle they went through, in
able to cross the border of communist North Korea and making it into China.
The Koreans accusers expect their children to become successful in their definition, having your head

The Doctrine Of The Lord s Supper
AMBROSE UNIVERSITY THE DOCTRINE OF THE LORD S SUPPER SUBMITTED TO
BERNIE VAN DE WALLE IN PARTIAL FULFILLMENT OF REL 261 THEOLOGY II: SPIRIT
AND CHURCH BY MO HICKMAN APRIL 7TH, 201 Introduction The Doctrine of the Lord s
Supper is a central part of church life and ecclesiology. During the Lord s Supper, the Church shares in
the bread and the cup in remembrance of Christ and proclaim[s] the Lord s death until He comes.
Theologians have disagreed on what happens to the bread and wine and the role of the Supper. In this
paper, I will outline the basis of the Doctrine of the Lord s Supper and briefly describe its biblical
context. I will then explain how the doctrine was developed during the first centuries and the
reformation. I will conclude by briefly describing the different views held by the Catholic, Reformed,
and Protestant traditions. Outline of the Doctrine The Lord s Supper was ordained by Christ at the
Last Supper. Stott writes that, whenever we share in the Lord s Supper, his sacrifice on the cross is
remembered, partaken of, proclaimed, acknowledged as the ground of our unity, and responded to in
grateful worship. The Lord s Supper is about the cross and remembering Christ s sacrifice through
which salvation is made available. The Lord s Supper is considered the second act of commitment to
Christ s body the Church, after baptism. The Lord s Supper repeatedly acknowledges that one has
been saved through their faith in Christ and that they are a member of

Today we know that depression, anxiety and other psychological symptoms can contribute to physical
sensations and a sense of being physically unwell and we also have an understanding of
psychosomatic illness. Another important contribution was Mesmer s recognition of the unconscious,
although he did not speak of it as such. He experienced the power of the unconscious in that he
contributed to the discovery of the hypnotic state, which can be a powerful therapeutic tool in therapy.
Although he was labeled a fraud on the basis that there was no proof that he had discovered a new
physical fluid, it is an important finding just the same that his clients were cured on the basis of
suggestion. This is important in terms of how the psychological relates to the physical. Another
contribution to psychology is that Mesmer sought to be both a scientist and a practitioner, and that this
model of the dual role of a therapist is important for therapists working in psychology today. Finally,
Mesmer mentored an important figure in the history of psychology who recognized that the belief in
the efficacy of cure, desire to cure and the therapeutic relationship were fundamental factors in
successfully working with clients in therapy. These beliefs are central to the practice of clinical
psychology in our world today. There is no doubt that Mesmer is a curious figure in the history of
psychology. He contributed to

different people. To white men it meant freedom. To many people and men specifically it mean that
they wanted to have freedom from Great Britain. To women it mean that you had to do as your
husband or head of male figure said or wanted you to do for him.Women were to care for their

The Effects Of Deep Breathing Exercises On The Prevention...
PICO question: How does the use of incentive spirometers compare to the use of deep breathing
exercises in the prevention of pulmonary complications in post operative, hospitalized patients?
Background and Rationale: Currently, postoperative pulmonary complications account for about 25%
of deaths occurring within 6 days of surgery, (Yoder, M 2015). Post operative pulmonary
complications (PPCs) are of major concern due to the increased length of hospital stays and high rates
of occurrence and death as a result. Those at greater risk of developing a pulmonary complication
include preexisting lung disease, medical comorbidities, poor nutritional status, overall poor health,
and in those who smoke. (Yoder, M, 2015.) The type of surgery the patient is having also affects the
risk. Complications include, but are not limited to, pneumonia, bronchospasm, respiratory failure and
prolonged mechanical ventilation. The development of such complications negatively affects the
expected outcomes for patients. The basic mechanism of PPCs is a lack of lung inflation that occurs
because of a change in breathing to a shallow, monotonous breathing pattern without periodic sighs,
prolonged recumbent positioning and temporary diaphragmatic dysfunction. Mucociliary clearance
along with the decreased cough effectiveness, increases risks associated with retained pulmonary
secretions, (Overend, T., Anderson, C., Lucy, S., Bhatia, C., Jonsson, B., Timmermans, C., 2001).

Essay on The Importance of Community
Community is very important and has many factors like kinship, unity, and identity. Community helps
society because it creates solutions, provides security and reveals dedication. It discovers truthfulness.
Communities are part of everyday life and have positive affects on its members. Communities can be
found everywhere and can be created anywhere. You may be unaware of it, but you are part of a
community not only based on your location, but also based on your lifestyle, your religion, your
heritage, your education, or your abilities. As Hewitt once said, Community provides a psychological

Observing others behaviors lets one realize and understand more about different types and kinds of
people. Seeing how certain groups or communities act or react to situations lets us see more
perspective and hopefully appreciate their point of view. It is important to be part of communities for
much of the same reason. When you are part of a group, you understand and compromise with the
other members of the group. Discussing issues involving the community helps to lead to solutions.
Talking things through with other members improves social skills as well as relationships. Knowing
how people feel about certain issues let you know more about that person, and in turn, you learn more
about yourself. Hearing what other people have to say may sway your own opinions about something.
For example, maybe you are part of a church you thought you really believed in, but hearing the
discussions at the church meetings you start to think that you do not belong in this community.
Though that specific church may be the right place for many, you learn that you need a new church
community. Churches are communities because the members are unified in their common beliefs.
These communities are like families because the members support and help each other religiously and
they feel secure. Being a sound part of a community, you should continuously learn more and more
about yourself. As a member of a club, taking part in meetings and activities let you learn

involvement in the film shows very intense situations. The US has no mercy. They were in Vietnam
working on taking total and complete control. Sadly, they didn t really know what they were doing or
who was in command. For example Captain Benjamin L. Willard, often found himself searching for

Charging a man with murder in this place was like handing out speeding tickets in the Indy 500 what I
like most about this quote is that its real. Obviously drivers in the Indy 500 are expected to speed. This
cruel war expects men to commit murder on a daily basis. This quote sums up how nasty the Vietnam
War was. This led to one of the highest causalities from any war in history. Some of the lessons we ve

their loves.
INTERVIEWER: Mr and Mrs Herbert, can you please tell us why you chose to be involved in the
Boycott?
SARAH HERBERT: Well firstly, ethnicity didn t matter to me and my late husband, Woodson. We
both opposed the Jim Crow Laws, which had stood for 79 years since 1876. We both truly wanted
equality for those Negros, especially as we had ones close to us, e.g our house maids. We didn t

they had to get off the bus, enter through the rear exit and sit at the back. They deserved to have equal
access to any part of the bus they wanted. It just seemed bizarre and it made them look inferior.
During the boycott, when the community taxi effort by the 18 negro owned bus companies in
Montgomery was halted by the council for it s too low fares of 10¢ instead of the usual 45¢, the blacks
began their own carpooling initiative to help each other get around. There were around 300 cars used

A Comparison Of Jack The Ripper And Lizzie Borden

Jack the Ripper and Lizzie Borden
Lizzie Borden took an axe and gave her mother forty whacks, when she saw what she had done she
gave her father forty one. Jack the Ripper and the Lizzie Borden Murders were both violent crimes
that impacted the world during the late 1800s. Jack the Ripper was a serial killer who was never
found. Lizzie Borden had her parents murdered and most people believe she did it but was never
accused of the murders. They both are unsolved cases that people still talk about today.
Jack the Ripper was a serial killer in the United Kingdom in 1888. Why is Jack the Ripper so famous?
He was essentially a media star. He is believed to only have 11 victims but, the media is what made
him famous throughout England. All of his victims were alcoholics who turned to prostitution, says
Thomas K. Grose from Time Magazine. Also, the area where Jack the Ripper killed all his victims was
well known. It was known as a hotbed of vice and villainy, and a breeding ground for social unrest.
Jack the Ripper was never found and over the course of these many years there have been hundreds of
suspects but nobody has been brought to justice.
The worst thing about Jack the Ripper is the way that he murdered his victims. It was not just a quick
stab or a bullet, but sheer violence. He ripped them to pieces. Most of his victims weren t recognizable
after he was done with them. That is how he got his name, Jack the Ripper.

Case Study Of A Rabid Dog
Case study of a rabid dog: vaccine failure and owner s ignorance
Summary: Rabies is a severe but preventable anthropozoonosis of developing countries. Wandering
and unvaccinated dogs are the primary source of rabies particularly, in low income countries. The
purpose of this presentation is to highlight the public health risks for pet owners. Despite pre exposure
vaccination, rabies virus was diagnosed in dog brain using histopathology and immunohistochemistry.
Negligence in prophylactic measures and dog bite management constitutes the main cause of rabies
cases, largely in populated cities of Pakistan. Another contributing factor is the lack of knowledge,
regarding rabies prophylaxis, among both non professionals and medical practitioners.

These problems can be overcome through quick availability of reliable prophylactic measures, team
up regulation of veterinary drug stores and, adequate field serosurviellance (Townsend et al., 2013).
The lack of dog bite management is purely associated with the large communication gap between
general public and veterinarians, which ultimately results in the lack of general awareness about rabies
prophylactic measures in rural and urban communities (Franka et al., 2012). These issues can be well
solved through public private partnerships (Taylor, 2013) canine herd vaccinations and raising literacy
rate in general (Franka et al., 2012). Keeping in context, poor attitude and response of the health
practitioners is also participating indirectly in rabies cases (Wasay et al.,

The Negative Impact Of Smart Phones
Smart phones have been a big part of the world in the decade, especially iPhones. The first iPhone was
released on June 29, 2007, with many more released since then ( History of Phone ). Along with
changing how people communicate, the success and availability of the iPhone has impacted the world
s economy in many ways. You can argue that here, in America, iPhones, have positively impacted our
society and our economy. People have greater access to income because they conduct work in many
different settings, all day long. However, people have begun to replace human contact with virtual
contact via their iPhones. This is a negative impact on our lives.
You can also argue that the iPhone has had a negative impact on societies in many other countries in
which iPhone components are manufactured. There, Apple employees work long hours away from
their families, for minimal wages, in unsafe environments ( Globalization and Ideology ). They may
never even have the means to purchase their own iPhone. While Apple contributes to the economies of
many poor countries by manufacturing iPhone parts there, the company also steals from those
countries by robbing those employees of time interacting with family and friends.
According to The History of the iPhone (2014), the first iPhone was nicknamed Jesus phone because
of its impressive capabilities. It had a maximum storage of sixteen gigabytes. Now an iPhone has
storage available up to two hundred ninety six gigabytes. We can

  • 2. Are Prozac And Similar Antidepressants Safe And Effective... Are Prozac and similar antidepressants safe and effective for children and adolescents? Approximately ten percent of our youth suffer from a deppresive/anxiety disorder. The youth of our society are being treated with anti depressants such as prozac; which, carry a black box warning. The FDA has required that boxed warnings be placed on all antidepressant medications warning they may result in increased risk of suicidal tendencies in children, and young adults aged 18 24 years old. The black box warning is the highest warning that can labeled on any medication. It means there has been significant research completed to show a legitimate concern for the well being of the population who is prescribed the medication. It is scientifically proven that children s bodies do not absorb and process drugs the same way that a fully grown adult can, and their brains may critically be affected as well. Society, parents, doctors and adolescence themselves are forced to make; what could be, a life changing decision on whether to medicate with the potential for disaster or not medicate and allow the child to continue suffering from a psychological disorder. It is clear that both the risks of medicating and not medicating are suggestively the greatest during the early years of life. The question that arises is whether we should or shouldn t take the risk. A child s response to a medication cannot be determined with one hundred percent certainty. It is very difficult to isolate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Five Eighty Eight By John Cheever What personality traits do we display with our actions? Our personalities are shaped by our life experiences and the people around us. They re shaped by our upbringing, the way our parents treated us and the many thing we learned from them. They re shaped by our past experiences whether a being on the receiving end of a kind deed by another person, or the receiving end of a gross injustice. These experiences shape our personalities and in turn shape how we view the world and treat those around us. John Cheever s The Five Forty Eight is the story about a woman trying to put herself back together after being broken, albeit in a slightly questionable way. Miss Dent is a woman who previously spent 8 months in a hospital, and is still clearly a bit unhinged. She is a fragile woman who becomes attached to Mr. Blake after he hires her as his secretary. Mr. Blake sees how vulnerable she is and takes advantage of her, afterwards having an employee fire her and keep her from seeing him. Months later Miss Dent stalks Mr. Blake, cornering him on the Five Forty Eight. Mr. Blake is terrified, but Miss Dent claims she will not kill him as long as he listens to her. After Miss Dent has made him feel the way he made her, she leaves him on the platform; weeping as he made her, but unharmed. Many aspects of Mr. Blake s personality are displayed throughout the story as we observe his thoughts and the way he treats others. Two powerful personality traits dominate Mr. Blake in John Cheever s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Charles Manson once said “You know, a long time ago being... Charles Manson once said You know, a long time ago being crazy meant something, nowadays everyone is crazy. Charles Manson was the man who brought fear into Los Angeles by brainwashing people to become part of his cult and together they formed The Family and killed 9 innocent people. During the Manson Murders many of the people in Los Angeles did not feel quite safe due to the fact that these killings were random and many felt as if anybody could be the next victim. Charles Manson was born on November 12th, 1934 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was the son of sixteen year old Kathleen Maddox, and Colonel Scott who left Kathleen during her pregnancy. The Family consisted mainly of Susan Atkins, Leslie Van Houten, Patricia Krenwinkel, Charles Tex Watson, Bobby Beausoleil, Mary Brunner, and Lynette Squeaky Fromme. Manson s motive to begin killing all started when he had told the family Helter Skelter was coming, Helter Skelter was the uprising of a racial war between the blacks and the whites. Manson would facilitate this war by killing the whites and implicating the African American community with various acts. (crimemuseum.org) Charles Manson s first killing involved Gary Hinman, he was a very close friend of Charles Manson and allowed Manson and members of the family to stay at his house instead of staying at the Spahn Ranch. During this time Manson was having trouble with money with a guy named Crowe. Manson shot Crowe under the impression that he was part of the Blank Panthers, however Crowe did not die from the shot and Manson feared revenge and left. (law2.umkc.edu) Manson was in desperate need of money and soon later heard from a family member that Gary Hinman had gotten money from an inheritance. Charles Manson sent Bobby Beausoleil, Mary Brunner, and Susan Atkins to pay Hinman a visit and tell Hinman to hand over the money. Gary Hinman was very uncooperative and was held hostage for a couple of days. Manson finally came in and sliced Hinmans left ear, Hinman was stabbed twice in the chest and in the blood from Hinman, Manson smeared Political Piggy on the wall along with a Black ... • 6. Race in Amerca Race, simple external differences linked to other complex internal differences, has historically created issues in American society. Race and racial inequalities are one of the most vital issues confronting contemporary U.S. society, explains Sociologist Ronald Takaki. In the past race has had both biological and social implications across the country. However, the video Race: The Power of Illusion presents significant evidence refuting the biological theories of race. Cold Springs Harbor Laboratory instructor Scott Bronson and several high school students from different ethnicities conducted personal genetic research exploring biological race theory. Students typed their blood, compared skin tones and took DNA samples. After sending the samples to a genetics lab, Bronson asked students whom they might expect to be more genetically similar to in the workshop. The consensus of the students was that they would each be genetically comparable to others in the group with similar physical attributes. • 7. Value Creation Essay Value creation Two basic conditions determine a firm s profits: the amount of value customers place on the firm s goods or services and the firm s costs of production. In general, the more value customers place on a firm s products, the higher the price the firm can charge for those products. Note, however, that the price a firm charges for a good and service is typically less then the value placed on that good or service by the customer. This is so because the customer captures some of that value in the form of what economists call a consumer surplus. The value creation by a firm is measured by the difference between the amount of value customers place on the firm s goods or services (V) and firm s cost of production. Michael porter has ... Or inappropriate economic policies by the govt. Experience effects The experience curve refers to systematic reductions in production costs that have been observed to occur over the life of a product. A number of studies have observed that product s production costs decline by some quantity about each time accumulated output doubles. The relationship was first observed in the aircraft industry, where each time accumulated output of airframes was doubled, unit costs typically declined to 80% of their previous level and it continues. Experience effects are caused due to: learning effects and economies of scale. This is portrayed throughout the book Animal Farm by George Orwell. For example, Squealer and Napoleon are two characters that the author uses to portray the abuse of power. A literal interpretation (i.e., to record in a field) falls short of what is encompassed. In contrast to the type of recording with which many musicians may be familiar, within a highly controlled space exhibiting minimal extraneous sound, field recording is audio recording conducted outside a recording studio. This comes without exception, acquiring sounds produced by life, nature, or anything else present. Noted field recordist and ecologist Bernie Krause (b. 1938) categorized the diverse sounds one may record into three categories. Geophony refers to non biological sounds produced by the earth (e.g., wind, water). Sounds made by the species of the recorded area are classified as biophony, while human generated sounds of any kind are referred to as anthrophony. While this has some benefits, I oppose this because of many reasons. I believe workers shouldn t bring their dogs to work because dogs aren t liked by everyone, some aren t trained well, and they need constant attention. The first reason I am against bringing dogs to work is the fact that dogs aren t liked by everyone. In this world, nobody s perfect and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. With this being said, not everyone likes the same things. While one may love dogs, another might dislike them because of health or mental reasons. Bringing dogs to work can possibly harm or alter a employee s health or performance. This is shown in the passage where it states, Companies are legally required to provide a safe, healthy work environment for their employees. The FBI and the U.S. government want to take over the control of the iPhone. They want Apple to override the encryption feature to be allowed to crack the password. Currently, the new features only allow the owner to crack the password. Apple is arguing that the request is a violation of Apple s First Amendment rights. Apple can face some contractual issues which may contribute to the problems they are currently facing. The first issue is that tech companies should not be required to have an entry way into their products. How can a customer trust a company that does not have their privacy as part of their contract? Customers value their privacy to the utmost fullest. Apple believes that this will weaken the security of their computer systems and consumer s privacy protection. Next, if you are a company that is viewed as being too vocal, it can jeopardize government sales as well as relationships with law enforcement. During the Lord s Supper, the Church shares in the bread and the cup in remembrance of Christ and proclaim[s] the Lord s death until He comes. Theologians have disagreed on what happens to the bread and wine and the role of the Supper. In this paper, I will outline the basis of the Doctrine of the Lord s Supper and briefly describe its biblical context. I will then explain how the doctrine was developed during the first centuries and the reformation. I will conclude by briefly describing the different views held by the Catholic, Reformed, and Protestant traditions. Outline of the Doctrine The Lord s Supper was ordained by Christ at the Last Supper. Stott writes that, whenever we share in the Lord s Supper, his sacrifice on the cross is remembered, partaken of, proclaimed, acknowledged as the ground of our unity, and responded to in grateful worship. The Lord s Supper is about the cross and remembering Christ s sacrifice through which salvation is made available. Today we know that depression, anxiety and other psychological symptoms can contribute to physical sensations and a sense of being physically unwell and we also have an understanding of psychosomatic illness. Another important contribution was Mesmer s recognition of the unconscious, although he did not speak of it as such. He experienced the power of the unconscious in that he contributed to the discovery of the hypnotic state, which can be a powerful therapeutic tool in therapy. Although he was labeled a fraud on the basis that there was no proof that he had discovered a new physical fluid, it is an important finding just the same that his clients were cured on the basis of suggestion. This is important in terms of how the psychological relates to the physical. Another contribution to psychology is that Mesmer sought to be both a scientist and a practitioner, and that this model of the dual role of a therapist is important for therapists working in psychology today. Finally, Mesmer mentored an important figure in the history of psychology who recognized that the belief in the efficacy of cure, desire to cure and the therapeutic relationship were fundamental factors in successfully working with clients in therapy. These beliefs are central to the practice of clinical psychology in our world today. There is no doubt that Mesmer is a curious figure in the history of psychology. He contributed to ... • 32. The Effects Of Deep Breathing Exercises On The Prevention... PICO question: How does the use of incentive spirometers compare to the use of deep breathing exercises in the prevention of pulmonary complications in post operative, hospitalized patients? Background and Rationale: Currently, postoperative pulmonary complications account for about 25% of deaths occurring within 6 days of surgery, (Yoder, M 2015). Post operative pulmonary complications (PPCs) are of major concern due to the increased length of hospital stays and high rates of occurrence and death as a result. Those at greater risk of developing a pulmonary complication include preexisting lung disease, medical comorbidities, poor nutritional status, overall poor health, and in those who smoke. (Yoder, M, 2015.) The type of surgery the patient is having also affects the risk. Complications include, but are not limited to, pneumonia, bronchospasm, respiratory failure and prolonged mechanical ventilation. The development of such complications negatively affects the expected outcomes for patients. The basic mechanism of PPCs is a lack of lung inflation that occurs because of a change in breathing to a shallow, monotonous breathing pattern without periodic sighs, prolonged recumbent positioning and temporary diaphragmatic dysfunction. Mucociliary clearance along with the decreased cough effectiveness, increases risks associated with retained pulmonary secretions, (Overend, T., Anderson, C., Lucy, S., Bhatia, C., Jonsson, B., Timmermans, C., 2001). Seeing how certain groups or communities act or react to situations lets us see more perspective and hopefully appreciate their point of view. It is important to be part of communities for much of the same reason. When you are part of a group, you understand and compromise with the other members of the group. Discussing issues involving the community helps to lead to solutions. Talking things through with other members improves social skills as well as relationships. Knowing how people feel about certain issues let you know more about that person, and in turn, you learn more about yourself. Hearing what other people have to say may sway your own opinions about something. For example, maybe you are part of a church you thought you really believed in, but hearing the discussions at the church meetings you start to think that you do not belong in this community. Though that specific church may be the right place for many, you learn that you need a new church community. Churches are communities because the members are unified in their common beliefs. These communities are like families because the members support and help each other religiously and they feel secure. Their lives were at total risk, from ostracism to threats on their loves. INTERVIEWER: Mr and Mrs Herbert, can you please tell us why you chose to be involved in the Boycott? SARAH HERBERT: Well firstly, ethnicity didn t matter to me and my late husband, Woodson. We both opposed the Jim Crow Laws, which had stood for 79 years since 1876. We both truly wanted equality for those Negros, especially as we had ones close to us, e.g our house maids. We didn t understand why even when they were paying the same amount as us whites to ride on the buses that they had to get off the bus, enter through the rear exit and sit at the back. They deserved to have equal access to any part of the bus they wanted. It just seemed bizarre and it made them look inferior. During the boycott, when the community taxi effort by the 18 negro owned bus companies in Montgomery was halted by the council for it s too low fares of 10¢ instead of the usual 45¢, the blacks began their own carpooling initiative to help each other get around. Jack the Ripper and the Lizzie Borden Murders were both violent crimes that impacted the world during the late 1800s. Jack the Ripper was a serial killer who was never found. Lizzie Borden had her parents murdered and most people believe she did it but was never accused of the murders. They both are unsolved cases that people still talk about today. Jack the Ripper was a serial killer in the United Kingdom in 1888. Why is Jack the Ripper so famous? He was essentially a media star. He is believed to only have 11 victims but, the media is what made him famous throughout England. All of his victims were alcoholics who turned to prostitution, says Thomas K. Grose from Time Magazine. Also, the area where Jack the Ripper killed all his victims was well known. It was known as a hotbed of vice and villainy, and a breeding ground for social unrest. Jack the Ripper was never found and over the course of these many years there have been hundreds of suspects but nobody has been brought to justice. The worst thing about Jack the Ripper is the way that he murdered his victims. It was not just a quick stab or a bullet, but sheer violence. He ripped them to pieces.
