Nightmare Research Papers
Up to 90% of people dream when they fall asleep not only do they dream but also have nightmares.
Not all nightmares will wake a person up or even be remembered but if they are remembered it
usually strikes fear and worry in the dreamers mind. Nightmares and the level of fear that they possess
all depends on the person who is having them because not everyone s fears are the same thing or are to
the same extent. Nevertheless sleep is split into four different stages, stage one being sleep onset, stage
2 light sleep, stage 3 and 4 deep sleep which can also be known as the REM (non rapid eye
movement) stage which is connected to dreaming. There are different aspects within a nightmare such
as how nightmares come to be and who they effect.

Nightmares and the brain states that nightmares are most common of those between the ages of three
and six probably due to children being very impressionable at these ages. While touching on the
statement of children being impressionable an assistant Clinic professor at Cambridge Health Alliance

reflect this vulnerability with this being a very possible idea it would help explain the reason children

How Stressful Life Experiences Affect A Child s Emotional...
This annotated bibliography covers six journal, reports and articles associated with the subject of how
stressful life experiences can affect a child s emotional development, what role the schools play in a
child s emotional development and how there is a need for the Department of Education to
commission a sector body to develop a framework of core content for initial teacher training (ITT),
which should include child and adolescent development.
A child s emotional development is a complex, multifaceted process and one which many interaction
partners play a role. To teach effectively, trainee teachers need to understand child development
expectations at different stages of development together with issues that can have an impact on the
child s progress.
The research literature has accentuated the association between stressful experiences and
psychological dysfunction in children and evidence has been found which suggests that there is a need
for continuity across Initial teacher training institutes. ITT should be an environment for new teachers
to learn from the best teachers, introducing them to essential skills, knowledge and understanding that
all teachers require in order to continuously improve the opportunities and outcomes of young people.
The authors of this study compared the judgements of trainee teachers with the responses of young
children regarding their perceptions of student stress. The study compiled questions such as: Does
teaching experience have an

The Effect Of Alpha 3 Fatty Acids And Pioglitazone Essay
Modulating effects of omega 3 fatty acids and pioglitazone combination on insulin resistance through
toll like receptor 4 in type 2 diabetes mellitus

Abstract:
Toll like receptor 4 (TLR 4) plays important roles in innate immunity. Changes in the reduction
oxidation balance of tissues can lead to a pro inflammatory state and insulin resistance. An action
thought to be mediated by TLRs. Omega 3 fatty acids and Peroxisome Proliferator Activated Receptor
gamma (PPAR γ) agonists as pioglitazone are used for decreasing inflammation. The aim of this study
is to investigate the anti diabetic effects of combining omega 3 fatty acid with pioglitazone on type 2
diabetes, and the modulating effects on TLR 4. Type 2 diabetes was induced in male Sprague Dawley
rats by combination of high fat diet and low dose streptozotocin (35 mg/kg). Diabetic rats were treated
with omega 3 fatty acids (10% W/W diet), pioglitazone (20 mg/kg), and their combination for 4
weeks. Omega 3 fatty acids and the combination treatment significantly decreased TLR 4 activation.
Omega 3 fatty acids, pioglitazone, and their combination significantly decreased TLR 4 mRNA
expression, hepatic malondialdehyde, total cholesterol and triglycerides levels, compared to diabetic
group. Pioglitazone and the

As I Lay Dying By William Faulkner
As I Lay Dying
William Faulkner
Entry 1
Beginning As I Lay Dying, I am already struggling with the dialect of the novel. This confusion is
deepened because I had no prior knowledge of the characters and plot. There are many characters that
Faulkner mentions in the first twenty five pages of the novels and so I was trying to connect the
characters and find out who was who. Faulkner also constantly refers to Addie as she . This confused
me at first because I didn t know who Faulkner was referring to and how Addie was related to all of
the other characters. I found that as long as I read very slowly and pay attention to detail, I can
understand the language of the story better than I expected. I was able to connect all the characters and

This is making the characters unrelatable so I hope that I improve on understanding the dialect of the
novel.
Entry 3
I find that I am having trouble reading some characters narrations more than others. Cash s narrations
are the simplest to read as his thoughts are fairly straightforward to follow and his narration doesn t
move from one idea to another. Vardaman, Dewey Dell and Darl all have narrations that are difficult
to follow because their thoughts move rapidly from one idea to another. Vardaman is a child and his
narration is the most difficult to understand because of the childish manner it is written in. Dewey Dell
also expresses very complicated thoughts. Dewey Dell begins her narration using only he to identify
who she is thinking about. She also continually refers to herself and him as a tub of guts. Darl is very
thoughtful and his thoughts move from one topic to something completely different and so I find his
narration very difficult to follow.
Entry 4
There have been many examples of animal symbolism in As I Lay Dying. I didn t understand what
Vardaman meant when he first says my mother is a fish (76) and later when Darl says Jewel s mother
is a horse (86). I went back in the novel and read about that the fish Vardaman caught was chopped to
pieces and no longer recognizable. When Vardaman says his mother is a fish, Vardaman is saying that
his mother is no longer recognizable to him

Christian Values And The Germanic Society
The epic poem, written by an anonymous author around 500 A.D, before Christianity. Beowulf is the
ideal hero and he fights to for his honor through his battles with Grendel, Grendel s mother, and the
dragon. References to Christianity exist in Beowulf, and pagan influences are noticeable. Christianity,
however, emphasizes the spiritual wealth of all man kind. Grendel is the embodiment of cyclical
warfare in pagan society. War is necessary in pagan society. Death and murder was repaid by death
and murder and was in a constant cycle of revenge. The only way to end the cycle was to kill one of
the families that kept murdering. In Beowulf, Christian values and the Germanic hero are blended
together. Leadership, belief systems, enemies and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the beginning of the poem Beowulf claimed that the reason for his return was to help defeat
Grendel. I have heard moreover that the monster scorns in his reckless way to use weapons; therefore

broad shield, the heavy war Greenbalt). Towards the end of the poem, Beowulf was loyal to his
people. After ruling his kingdom for fifty years, he had his fated fight with the dragon. His kin died
one by one in war however toward the end he met the same destiny . Anguished w and thinking back
about his adolescence as a youthful warrior, he detected his demise. Monster was utilized as reference
to a conception deformity and a sign from God of terrible heredity or a portending of horrendous

Sociology Essay On Identity And Belonging
Many people feel uncomfortable showing certain parts of their identity, as they might be ashamed of
it. It has been considered for a long while that, to protect one s wellbeing, it is beneficial to hide the
negative aspects of one s self. However, in 2014, professor Manuela Barreto from the University of
Exeter have found that hiding stigmatised identity may, in fact, decrease your belongingness to the
group. Baretto and colleagues asked participants to hide their stigmatised identity when interacting
and then measured the quality of the interaction. Not only they found that hiding negatively affect
feelings of belongingness, but also they found that other person felt like the interaction was less
authentic, leading a person not only to feel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then, they were asked to interact with another naïve participant and to either hide or show their
stigmatised identity. Researchers found that those who were hiding their identity experienced an
interaction as less enjoyable, and, importantly, other participants said that they did not find a
stigmatised person to be authentic. Moreover, external observers rated interaction as being awkward.
Since authenticity is a crucial part of the belongingness, it could be concluded that hiding stigmatised
identity actually leads to less belongingness. According to professor Baretto, instead of increasing
acceptance, hiding a stigmatised identity can result in a lowered sense of belonging and even actual
social rejection. The results of this research could be implemented in everyday life. If there is a part of
your identity that you don t like and wish to hide, think twice. Hiding it may cut your belongingness to
the group. On the contrary, showing it will make you seem more authentic, and, thus, likeable. Hiding
might seem to be an adaptive strategy but it could actually lead to the opposite, it may lead you to feel
isolated, more awkward in social interactions, and, thus, less social

Rene Magritte And Salvador Dali
INTRODUCTION
The topic of the unconscious mind is one that is very relevant to the surrealist movement. Arguably
the most famous surrealist artist, Salvador Dali, was famous for his depictions of dreams and freudian
theories. Rene Magritte, also a very famous surrealist artist, is also thought to be influenced by such
theories, especially when it comes to the repression of childhood memories. Because of this, these two
artists are perfect examples to question the extent of this psychological influence on their work. Was
psychoanalysis the primary goal for both artists? In this report I will analyse three texts from reputable
sources about both Dali and Magritte, and aim to use evidence from these texts to come to a
conclusion about my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To depict this psychological phenomena Dali creates his paintings with an incredibly detailed and
realistic style. Martin writes that Dali s realistic style serves as a sharp contrast to the animalistic
instincts and unusual concepts in his paintings.
Upon analysing the use of irrational imagery and depictions of dreams in Dali s paintings, author Tim
Martin shows the heavy interest in the ideas of the unconscious mind. Through Martin s writing it is
clear that the unconscious mind was the most significant factor in Dali s artwork.
Text 2 Dali Museum Text on The Persistence of Memory
This text was written in 2009 for the Salvador Dali museum, aimed at high school students studying
art history. The information in the text is extensive, and it is a reputable source of information, being
written for the Dali museum itself.
The author s analysis of the famous painting the Persistence of Memory describes the deformed clocks
depicted in the painting. Dali painted a total of three of these malleable clocks for this work, placed
apart in different places in the painting. The author of the text describes Dali s painting of different
times on each clock face. By painting a different time on each clock face, Dali gestures at the relativity
of the notion of time. Time s relativity in dreams was a core concept in Dali s work, and was
influenced by Freud s theories

Thyroid Surgery Research Paper
Thyroid surgery is a broad term covering any type of operation on the thyroid gland. This is an organ
shaped like a butterfly which sits at the front of your neck, producing hormones that maintain your
metabolism. Almost all thyroid surgery involves some type of thyroid removal, also called a
thyroidectomy. There are two main types of thyroid removal: a total thyroidectomy and a
hemithyroidectomy. In a total thyroidectomy, your whole thyroid gland is removed, whereas in a
hemithyroidectomy only about one half of it is removed.
Thyroid surgery is done by endocrine surgeons. These are surgeons who have specialised in operating
on organs which produce hormones such as the thyroid, parathyroid, pancreas and adrenal glands.
This means that the doctor carrying out the thyroid surgery will have years of experience in thyroid
removal and be able to minimise any risks. They are able to discuss what type of surgery is best for
you and what your unique concerns are. While your surgeon will discuss risks in detail before gaining
your consent for the surgery here are three of the most important complications of thyroid surgery,
especially thyroid removal.

meaning they are producing too much thyroxine. Whether your thyroxine levels were normal or high
prior to the surgery they ll be carefully monitored afterwards. Hypothyroidism is expected after a total
thyroidectomy but uncommon after a hemithyroidectomy or other thyroid

Research Paper On Cookies
How do you make the best cookie? My question is interesting because it s talking about what we all
eat, cookies. 13.5% of Americans admitted to eat at least 20 cookies at a time. Real estate agents have
used a fresh batch of chocolate chip cookies as a trick for decades. Americans have ate 2 billion
cookies each year, which it can average 300 cookies per each person each year. According to
(Stradley, 2016)the main idea about this subject is Describing the history of the cookie, where it was
discovered, the different names in each country, and also how it got its name. The name cookie is
derived from the Dutch word koekje, meaning small or little cake. Biscuit comes from the Latin word
bis coctus, which means, twice baked. In America, a cookie is described as a thin, sweet, usually a
small cake. We know as cookies are called biscuits in England and Australia, in Spain they re galletas.
Germans call them keks or Plzchen for Christmas cookies, and in Italy there are several names to
identify various forms of cookies including amaretti and biscotti, and so on According to culinary
historians, the first historical record of cookies was their use as test cakes. A small amount of cake

Social Groups In The Breakfast Club
The Breakfast Club is an often talked about film. One of the reasons for this is how it analyzes
different social groups formed in high school, or even life. The groups that it talks about are The
Brain, The Athlete, The Basket Case, The Princess, and The Criminal. One difficulty I had with this
essay is that I found out I have a pretty limited social circle. I don t talk to many people and most of
the people I do talk to are brains. I am very much like one of the characters in the movie. Even though
it was a bit tough I was still able to find someone in my life to fill each of the categories. While some
people are out partying others are studying. The ones studying are usually known as the brain or the
nerds. They re usually said to be highly intelligent, hence the name. On the other hand they aren t
known for being very athletic. Because of this they tend to butt heads with the athletes a lot and the
two groups are considered polar opposites. While I know quite a few brains the one that sticks out the
most is my friend Mike. He is constantly putting more work into things than necessary and always
feels the need to be the best academically. He was always on the honor roll for high school and for
very good reasons. Some other examples of Mikes generally nerdisms are the fact that he currently
owns a $1000 pc, 2 tablets, and 2 laptops because he needs to be sure that when he is developing
software or websites that it works well on different platforms. He is an IT major so

Analysis Of Jhumpa Lahiri s Novel The Namesake
Jhumpa Lahiri s novel The Namesake (2003) is a culture oriented, more precisely, a Bengali diasporic
culture oriented novel. As a diasporic novel it represents the diasporic themes like displaced,
dislocated and deterritorised feelings of the first generation expatriates like Ashima Ganguli, the
female protagonist of the novel; assimilated, translational and transcultural tendency among the
diasporic people, especially among the second generation immigrants in the novel like Gogol Ganguli,
Sonali Ganguli and Moushumi Mazoomdar; a feeling of nostalgia towards the natal/imaginary
homeland by the first generation expatriates like Ashima Ganguli; the community feeling among the
diasporic people; the familial, human relationships within a diasporic family in a diasporic land and
other traits. Ashima Ganguli is moored in diasporic land with her feelings of rootlessness/uprooting/re
rooting/tracking root and also finds routes to discover her at home in many homes in the world. The
Bengali diasporic cultures are amalgamated dexterously in the texture of the novel. Lahiri s The
Namesake was adapted as a film in 2006, released on March 9, 2007, following screenings at film
festivals in Toronto and New York City. The film is directed by an Indian born filmmaker Mira Nair,
living in the US. Sooni Taraporevala adapted the novel into a screenplay. The film received positive

100 Life Expectancy Calculator
I was surprised at how much education level, marital status, weight, blood pressure, and stress can
affect a life expectance. According to the Living to 100 Life Expectancy Calculator, I am predicted to
live to 93 years old. A 2015 National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine report said
men born in 1930 could expect to reach about age 82 if their income put them in the top 20 percent of
earners and they survived to age 50. And high earners born in 1960 are projected to live to 89 a sizable
seven year gain in three decades (Henricks, 2018, para 9). Marital status can also play a part in
determining longevity. Getting married is a good way to live longer at least that s what research says

cannot control is their genetics. Several people that are centenarians also had members of their

maintaining a healthy body weight, exercising regularly, not smoking, and eating a healthy diet can all
be contributing factors. Experts also agree that where a person lives, good diet, active lifestyle, and
supportive family structure play a role in a person s longevity. I m sure these are all important factors,

Cross Cultural Communication Selection And Review
Cross Cultural Communication Selection and Review
As Jeane Kirkpatrick once said, Cross cultural experience and communication teaches us not simply
that people have different beliefs, but that people seek meaning and understand themselves and others
in some sense as members of a universe ruled by God. Effective cross cultural communication with
people of different cultures can be especially challenging. Culture itself provides human beings with
different ways of thinking and responding, which includes a variety of different ways of seeing,
hearing, and interpreting the world. While there are ways of translating the language of other cultures
in order to have the ability to effectively use cross cultural communication (most specifically for
collaborative purposes), the same words can mean different things to different people from different
cultures, even when they speak the same language. In fact, when languages are diverse, and translation
has to be used to communicate (cross cultural), the potential for misunderstandings and difficulty
rises. In the case of Strategies for Smooth and Effective Cross Cultural Online Collaborative Learning
written by Junfeng Yang, Kinshuk Huiju, Sue Jen Chen, and Ronghuai Huang, describes the
difficulties with cross cultural communication and the findings of a study done by Hangzhou Normal
University (China), Athabasca University (Canada), and University of North Caroline (United States)

`` Alien Notion `` By Chip Rowe
Alien Notion by Chip Rowe was featured in The Playboy Forum in February 2003. In this article Chip
Rowe writes about the attempts of creationist to bring God into public schools. According to Chip
Rowe, after the Supreme Court ruled that teaching biblical creationism in public school is a violation
of church and state, creationist have been divided into two groups. One group called young earthers
believe a literal interpretation of Genesis in the Bible, while the other group developed a new way to
sneak God into the classroom by creating intelligent design or as Rowe describes it creationism after a
shower and a shave . The creationist behind intelligent design avoid mention of Adam and Eve;
instead they say any intelligent being could ve designed it. He also states that religious right
organizers utilized grassroots lobbying efforts that gave intelligent design a legitimacy it didn t
deserve .
The feud between creationist and scientist about the origins of the universe dates back to the 20 s
during the Scopes trial. Scientist are against creationism because there is no evidence to support the
theory. Scientist support Charles Darwin s theory Darwinism, the theory that organisms evolve from
simple to complex through minor adaptations over time, because it has held up for more than a
century. Rowe s article expresses how he believes that creationist created intelligent design to take the
place of creationism in public schools after the Supreme Court ruled that

How Coffee Affects The Environmental Ethics Of The Bean
Every day, around 205 million American s start their day off with a cup of coffee. Weather this coffee
is brewed at home, picked up on the way to work or slowly enjoyed at a café, coffee is a common
ground between millions of people.
Coffee is estimated to be a $20 billion industry, its impacts reaching almost every corner of the earth.
As coffee spread around the world and demand for the bean grew, an industry popped up that led to
current day unethical and unsustainable practices surrounding the production and marketing of the
bean. Vast consumption of coffee is what continues the drive to cultivate and produce the drink. The
production of coffee affects the environmental ethics of many communities, but through changing the
markets and commodities surrounding coffee, negative impacts of its production have turned around
drastically.
From first being discovered by humans in ancient Ethiopia, coffee has gone from being seen
skeptically as a magical plant to a staple drink in most societies. A myth puts a goat herder in the fields
of Ethiopia, and one day he noticed his goats were acting more chipper than usual. They had eaten an
unusual berry that gave them these tendencies. The goat herder brought the beans to his monastery,
where the religious leaders mushed the berries up and ate them. They then stood alert through late
hours of prayer, uncovering their effect on humans. (Starbird, 1981) From the beans discovery in
Ethiopia it has had many forms of consumption. Our

Theme Of Imperialism In Avatar
In James Cameron s Avatar the idea of imperialism is displayed strongly through the measures that the
humans take to overpower the land and the people of Pandora. Imperialism is when a group of people
believe that they are superior, and see others as inferior. This leads to them thinking that they have the
entitlement to take what they want. This is shown in the movie Avatar when the humans think that
they are more superior and take away important landmarks to the Na Vi people,Such as Home Tree.
The the idea of imperialism is shown, when the humans destroyed Home Tree, the living area of the
Na Vii. Home Tree is also sitting on a large mass of unobtainium, which is a grey rock that is found on
the land of Pandora. On earth this rock sells for 20 million per kilogram and the humans are in
desperate need for it. We can see this through dialogue and mise en scene. It is shown when Parker
Selfridge (The head of administration for the RDA) explained to Grace (the head of the science for the
RDA on Pandora). That the only reason her science is taking place is because the little grey rock sells
for 20 million per kilogram . At this point in the film there is a close up shot of the unobtainium
floating on a magnet, this makes it look highly important and of great value. James Cameron has used
this film technique of lighting to illuminate the unobtainium. We can also see through character
actions that some of the humans do not care about the Na Vi. This is shown when they were

The Collapse of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge Essay
The Collapse of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge
The Tacoma Narrows Bridge is perhaps the most notorious failure in the world of engineering. It
collapsed on November 7, 1940 just months after its opening on July 1, 1940. It was designed by Leon
Moisseiff and at its time it was the third largest suspension bridge in the world with a center span of
over half a mile long. The bridge was very narrow and sleek giving it a look of grace, but this design
made it very flexible in the wind. Nicknamed the Galloping Gertie, because of its undulating behavior,
the Tacoma Narrows Bridge drew the attention of motorists seeking a cheap thrill. Drivers felt that

It is shaped in a way to transfer weight to the towers and anchors with its tension (O Connor, 1971, p.
372). Cables are made of high strength wires spirally bound to form a rope (O Connor, 1971, p. 372).
Vertical cable suspenders that are fastened to the main cables hang the actual roadway. Stiffening
girders and trusses are along the side of the bridge to distribute concentrated loads and help to keep
the motion of the bridge at a minimum (Troitsky, 1994, p115).
The basic design of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge itself was a suspension bridge with a center span of
2800 feet and two side spans of one 1100 feet (Farquharson, 1950, p. 17). Its two lane, reinforced
concrete roadway was twenty six feet wide with two 5 foot, 9 inch sidewalks (Farquharson, 1950, p.
19). Overall the superstructure was 5939 feet, including the suspension structures, approach spans and
anchorages (Farquharson, 1950, p. 19). Anchorages were made of solid concrete and were fifty feet by
170 feet and were fifty feet high (Farquharson, 1950, p. 19). The main towers which the cables saddle
were 425 feet in height and with a spacing of thirty nine feet at the top and fifty feet at the bottom
(Farquharson, 1950, p. 19). Each cable consisted of nineteen strands of galvanized wire and totaled a
diameter of seventeen inches. The design of the bridge may sound rather large and structurally stable
but as mentioned before the bridge was designed to be very sleek looking. By

Table #1 shows that the length of the sample of magnesium ribbon given was 1.67 cm (to 3 significant
numbers), the barometric pressure (total pressure) was 95.81 kPa, the room temperature was 24.9 °C,
and the measured gas volume converted from 24.72 mL to L was 0.02472 L. Then, the pressure of H2
was found by using Dalton s Law of Partial Pressure, using the equation Ptotal = PH2+ PH20., found
on Table #2 Part A. The pressure of H2O, 4 kPa, was determined by using Table H Vapor Pressure of
Four Liquids on the Reference Table for Chemistry. Then, the pressure of H2O, 4 kPa, was subtracted
from the total pressure, 95.81 kPa, to find the pressure of H2, 91.81 kPa. Next the mass of the sample
of magnesium was found, shown on Table #2 Part B, given that the mass of Mg = 0.0100 g/cm. It was
calculated that the mass of Mg per length found was 0.0167 g. Afterwards, the mass of Mg was
converted to moles, using 3 significant numbers, shown in Table #2 Part C. The calculations shows
that the number of moles of Mg found was 0.000687. Next, the mole ratio of Mg to H2 produced was
determined by writing a balanced equation for the reaction, found on Table #2 Part D. The mole ratio
of Mg to H2 produced was 1:1. Then, the number of moles of H2 produced (using 3 significant
numbers) was found by using stoichiometry, shown on Table #2 Part E. The number of moles of H2

Karl s Views On Social Science
Karl Popper became a popular philosopher in the twentieth century, known for his emphasis on
empirical falsification while studying the social sciences. He rejected previously popular views from
the prewar era, namely Historicism, which focuses on only historical evidence in the observation of
political and social events. In his book, Popper Selections, Popper vehemently opposes ideas such as
historicism, collectivism, utopian principles, and the Marxian ideology. Popper s emphasis on
empirical falsification provides us the basis as to why he believes democracy proves to be essential to
a state. His emphasis on individualism, piece meal social engineering, interventionism and sovereignty
highlight Popper s direct opposition to Marx, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He asserts, there cannot, of course, be any rational discussion in a school of this kind (Popper 1985).
Popper then places emphasis on the importance on the rise of tradition, meaning a tradition in places
of learning that encourages critical discussion and new ideas, perhaps even rewards them. Not only
does Popper maintain that this rise of criticism is important, he also states that those being criticized
should be tolerant of dissenting view points and seek to understand the opposition rather than rejecting
it. Furthermore, Popper states, the rationalist tradition, the tradition of critical discussion, represents
the only practicable way of expanding our knowledge (Popper 1985). These ideas of critical
discussion and critical rationalism essentially serve as the thesis to Popper s theory. Popper s reliance
on the testability, falsifiability, scientific methodology and accumulating data and theories serve as the
main components of Popperism. The Popperian ideology seems to be directly in opposition to
historicism. Popper defines historicism as an approach to the social sciences which assumes that
historical prediction is their principal aim, and which that assumes that this aim is attainable by
discovering the rhythms or the patterns, the laws or the trends that underlie the evolution of history

The Big Bang Theory By Sheldon Cooper
Appendix:
I will be analyzing The Big Bang Theory, a popular TV show which features the lives of four gifted
scientists working at Caltech. I will be analyzing the communication issues that Sheldon Cooper, a
revered physicist faces on a day to day basis. It is safe to say that every character has been frustrated
with Sheldon at one point or another mainly down to his style of communication. Being extremely
gifted and unexposed to various groups of people, Sheldon s communication style has been a difficult
one for friends and strangers to get used to. Sheldon isn t rude or difficult to deal with on purpose. It is
due to his lack of experience with human interaction in different scenarios that makes him socially
awkward. However, with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows that Sheldon is not constructing his dispositions on cold hard facts, but rather because he
feels superior through the groups he belongs to. On countless occasions Sheldon can be caught
making fun of his friend Howard who is an engineer from MIT, Penny who is a simple waitress at the
Cheesecake Factory and other colleagues from his workplace. However, upon meeting Amy, Sheldon
begins to transition from his predisposed mindset to a more accepting one. This can be attributed to
Sheldon altering his spiritual self and finally knocking down barriers that were due to association by
similarity (Adler, 6). At first, Sheldon only wanted to communicate with people like himself because
his attitudes reflected that anyone unlike him was unworthy. However, through interacting with Amy,
her influence of biology (which he previously determined as a worthless field) accompanied by her
choice of friends (Bernadette and Penny) creates a major impact on Sheldon. He becomes able to
speak with people unlike himself and portray respect for their field, even if deep down he doesn t care.
Being able to present a social self that displays respect even if your beliefs are different shows that
you are in control of your communication and dialogue. That may seem like very little progress
however,

Running Head: The Increasing Costs of Olympics and The primary driving force for hosting the
famed Olympic Games has always hinged on the economic impact. Ideally, the cause factor has been
that the running process determines the beneficial outcome in play. According to Baade and Matheson

generate billions of dollars in profit. The economic incentives and other motivations such as political
prestige have seen nations compete intensively for the hosting chance. The misconceptions from the
economic value have seen a lot of compromise by the standards of the bidding process with significant
occurrence of wrong behaviors. Due to the growing in discrepancies arising from the quest to host
these games, questions on whether the Olympics are worth the extraordinary investment in praise of it.
This paper purposes to evaluate the increasing cost of Olympics and the decreasing interests by
countries in hosting the famed games. In part, the paper will analyse the transition from traditional
Olympics to modern day Olympics laying the history of this transformation about the given economic
interests. Also, the paper looks into the marketing and various incomes of the international. In the
play, the cost of bidding and the process in its entirety has been the anchor bone of contention and

Create A Resume
The first thing you should consider when looking for a job is your resume. A resume is a blueprint that
details what you have accomplished with regards to education, experience, skills acquisition,
workplace successes, and progressive responsibility and/or leadership (Patricia and Sherfield 161).
Many people struggle with landing a job because of their resume. In my essay, I will be providing an
outline to how to create a resume. I have collected information from online, personal references, and
the class s textbook; AOT 133 Professional Development. To show a difference from a well put
together resume verse a poorly written resume, I created two resumes; one prior to learning how to
create a resume and one after learning. When you prepare your resume, keep your future employer in
mind. Include your full name and make sure your contact information is up to date and accurate so any
future employer can contact you if necessary. You should not include your birthday, gender, or address

An objective is a short sentence that tells the future employer what type of position you re looking for
and your employment goals ( How to Create Your Resume ). It is okay to use the words, I, me, or my

objective is, I want to work as a marketing manager with a major corporation . A strong objective

The influence of substitutions at the heteroaromatic ring of the synthesized compounds CMP 1e 5e on
HDAC8 inhibition activity was examined. The results of the enzyme assays are shown in Table 3.11.
The results showed that CMP 1e and 5e inhibited HDAC8 much more significantly at 0.1 μM
concentration when compared to the standard drug SAHA. The percentage of inhibition for all the
compounds tested was found to be in the range of 56.3 78.5%. Even though, greater steric tolerance
existed at the HDAC8 active site near the entrance of the capping group than the metal binding moiety
region, the pyridimine (CMP 1e, 2e 4e) and pyridine analogues (CMP 5e) displayed the greatest
inhibitory activity at IC50 0.1 µM. The polarity of the nitrogen atom

The Rise Of The Middle 19th Century Germany
In the middle 19th century Germany was going through difficult changes. Germany was going through
a change of leadership and a change in the economy during this time ( History of Germany ). Many
great men and women decided to make the great journey to a new nation to make a name for
themselves and their families.
Marianne Kim is my fourth great grandmother arrived from Germany in the 19th century to New
Orleans, Louisiana with her family. To get to America they went from Baden, Germany to Le Havre,
France from there they got on the boat and started there long journey to America. Once in America she
started to live her new life and in 1838 she married her husband John Teufel Devil Harvey. Four
months later there first son was born. Over the next fifteen years she had eight more children,
Elizabeth, Marin, Rosanna, George, Mary, Joseph, Catherine, and Celestine. Out of the nine children
Elizabeth and Martin died in 1850. In 1853 during the birth of her youngest Celestine Marianne died.
Marianne s fifth born daughter Mary went on married Edward F. Schilling.
Edward F. Schilling was born in 1847 in the town of Nordrhein Westfalen, Germany where he stayed
until 1853 where he traveled to the United States at the age of four becoming one of the first
Schillings in America and found himself in Cambria County. In 1870 he married his wife Mary. In the
next twenty years they had four children, Clara, Charles, Leo, and Colletta. For about the next twenty
years his family lived in

The Radical Republicans
By the end of the Civil War, the United States was broken, yet intact. The North had prevailed, and
what was to be done with the former Confederate States was in question. After the Congressional
Election of 1866, radical Republicans gained a two thirds majority in both houses of Congress, which
meant that they had the ability to override a veto from President Andrew Johnson. This meant that
virtually any law Congress passed would be put into action, so therefore the Republicans dictated the
plan for Reconstruction. On March 2, 1867, Congress passed the Reconstruction Act, which split the
South into five military districts, established the conditions for readmittance of the former states,
disfranchised many former Confederates, and required ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the provisions of the Reconstruction Act was that the South was to be divided into five districts
which would be controlled militarily. While this tactic was very effective, another way to describe it
would be illegal. This was the Republicans way of stifling any Confederate Nationalism that still
remained in the South, and in doing this they obstructed democracy. Another instance where the
Radical Republicans abused their power was during the impeachment of Andrew Johnson. After
Johnson violated a law that required the president to obtain the approval of the Senate before
removing an appointed official, Congress saw this as grounds for impeachment. For Congress to
impeach a president, they must have committed high crimes and misdemeanor . Clearly Johnson did
not do either of these things, as doing something this miniscule does not warrant impeachment.
Although they did not end up removing him from office, Congress did this to send the message to
Johnson that he was almost powerless. Johnson did not have the ability to stop what the Radical
Republicans were doing, but he was still slowing them down, so Congress took action to assert their
dominance. The Radical Republicans took blatantly illegal actions in order to maintain their control,
and this is not something that people with high ideals would

  • 2. Nightmare Research Papers Up to 90% of people dream when they fall asleep not only do they dream but also have nightmares. Not all nightmares will wake a person up or even be remembered but if they are remembered it usually strikes fear and worry in the dreamers mind. Nightmares and the level of fear that they possess all depends on the person who is having them because not everyone s fears are the same thing or are to the same extent. Nevertheless sleep is split into four different stages, stage one being sleep onset, stage 2 light sleep, stage 3 and 4 deep sleep which can also be known as the REM (non rapid eye movement) stage which is connected to dreaming. There are different aspects within a nightmare such as how nightmares come to be and who they effect. Nightmares ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. How Stressful Life Experiences Affect A Child s Emotional... This annotated bibliography covers six journal, reports and articles associated with the subject of how stressful life experiences can affect a child s emotional development, what role the schools play in a child s emotional development and how there is a need for the Department of Education to commission a sector body to develop a framework of core content for initial teacher training (ITT), which should include child and adolescent development. A child s emotional development is a complex, multifaceted process and one which many interaction partners play a role. To teach effectively, trainee teachers need to understand child development expectations at different stages of development together with issues that can have an impact on the child s progress. The research literature has accentuated the association between stressful experiences and psychological dysfunction in children and evidence has been found which suggests that there is a need for continuity across Initial teacher training institutes. ITT should be an environment for new teachers to learn from the best teachers, introducing them to essential skills, knowledge and understanding that all teachers require in order to continuously improve the opportunities and outcomes of young people. The authors of this study compared the judgements of trainee teachers with the responses of young children regarding their perceptions of student stress. The study compiled questions such as: Does teaching experience have an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Effect Of Alpha 3 Fatty Acids And Pioglitazone Essay Modulating effects of omega 3 fatty acids and pioglitazone combination on insulin resistance through toll like receptor 4 in type 2 diabetes mellitus SALMA MOSSAD ERAKY *, NOHAABDEL RAHMAN, LAILAAHMED EISSA. Biochemistry Department, Faculty of Pharmacy, Mansoura University, Egypt, 35516 Correspondence, (salmamossad2012@gmail.com), Tel.: 0020 1098969384. Abstract: Toll like receptor 4 (TLR 4) plays important roles in innate immunity. Changes in the reduction oxidation balance of tissues can lead to a pro inflammatory state and insulin resistance. An action thought to be mediated by TLRs. Omega 3 fatty acids and Peroxisome Proliferator Activated Receptor gamma (PPAR γ) agonists as pioglitazone are used for decreasing inflammation. The aim of this study is to investigate the anti diabetic effects of combining omega 3 fatty acid with pioglitazone on type 2 diabetes, and the modulating effects on TLR 4. Type 2 diabetes was induced in male Sprague Dawley rats by combination of high fat diet and low dose streptozotocin (35 mg/kg). Diabetic rats were treated with omega 3 fatty acids (10% W/W diet), pioglitazone (20 mg/kg), and their combination for 4 weeks. Omega 3 fatty acids and the combination treatment significantly decreased TLR 4 activation. Omega 3 fatty acids, pioglitazone, and their combination significantly decreased TLR 4 mRNA expression, hepatic malondialdehyde, total cholesterol and triglycerides levels, compared to diabetic group. Pioglitazone and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. As I Lay Dying By William Faulkner As I Lay Dying William Faulkner Entry 1 Beginning As I Lay Dying, I am already struggling with the dialect of the novel. This confusion is deepened because I had no prior knowledge of the characters and plot. There are many characters that Faulkner mentions in the first twenty five pages of the novels and so I was trying to connect the characters and find out who was who. Faulkner also constantly refers to Addie as she . This confused me at first because I didn t know who Faulkner was referring to and how Addie was related to all of the other characters. I found that as long as I read very slowly and pay attention to detail, I can understand the language of the story better than I expected. I was able to connect all the characters and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is making the characters unrelatable so I hope that I improve on understanding the dialect of the novel. Entry 3 I find that I am having trouble reading some characters narrations more than others. Cash s narrations are the simplest to read as his thoughts are fairly straightforward to follow and his narration doesn t move from one idea to another. Vardaman, Dewey Dell and Darl all have narrations that are difficult to follow because their thoughts move rapidly from one idea to another. Vardaman is a child and his narration is the most difficult to understand because of the childish manner it is written in. Dewey Dell also expresses very complicated thoughts. Dewey Dell begins her narration using only he to identify who she is thinking about. She also continually refers to herself and him as a tub of guts. Darl is very thoughtful and his thoughts move from one topic to something completely different and so I find his narration very difficult to follow. Entry 4 There have been many examples of animal symbolism in As I Lay Dying. I didn t understand what Vardaman meant when he first says my mother is a fish (76) and later when Darl says Jewel s mother is a horse (86). I went back in the novel and read about that the fish Vardaman caught was chopped to pieces and no longer recognizable. When Vardaman says his mother is a fish, Vardaman is saying that his mother is no longer recognizable to him ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Beowulf is the ideal hero and he fights to for his honor through his battles with Grendel, Grendel s mother, and the dragon. References to Christianity exist in Beowulf, and pagan influences are noticeable. Christianity, however, emphasizes the spiritual wealth of all man kind. Grendel is the embodiment of cyclical warfare in pagan society. War is necessary in pagan society. Death and murder was repaid by death and murder and was in a constant cycle of revenge. • 7. Sociology Essay On Identity And Belonging Many people feel uncomfortable showing certain parts of their identity, as they might be ashamed of it. It has been considered for a long while that, to protect one s wellbeing, it is beneficial to hide the negative aspects of one s self. However, in 2014, professor Manuela Barreto from the University of Exeter have found that hiding stigmatised identity may, in fact, decrease your belongingness to the group. Baretto and colleagues asked participants to hide their stigmatised identity when interacting and then measured the quality of the interaction. Not only they found that hiding negatively affect feelings of belongingness, but also they found that other person felt like the interaction was less authentic, leading a person not only to feel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then, they were asked to interact with another naïve participant and to either hide or show their stigmatised identity. Researchers found that those who were hiding their identity experienced an interaction as less enjoyable, and, importantly, other participants said that they did not find a stigmatised person to be authentic. Moreover, external observers rated interaction as being awkward. Since authenticity is a crucial part of the belongingness, it could be concluded that hiding stigmatised identity actually leads to less belongingness. According to professor Baretto, instead of increasing acceptance, hiding a stigmatised identity can result in a lowered sense of belonging and even actual social rejection. The results of this research could be implemented in everyday life. If there is a part of your identity that you don t like and wish to hide, think twice. Hiding it may cut your belongingness to the group. On the contrary, showing it will make you seem more authentic, and, thus, likeable. Hiding might seem to be an adaptive strategy but it could actually lead to the opposite, it may lead you to feel isolated, more awkward in social interactions, and, thus, less social ... • 8. Rene Magritte And Salvador Dali INTRODUCTION The topic of the unconscious mind is one that is very relevant to the surrealist movement. Arguably the most famous surrealist artist, Salvador Dali, was famous for his depictions of dreams and freudian theories. Rene Magritte, also a very famous surrealist artist, is also thought to be influenced by such theories, especially when it comes to the repression of childhood memories. Because of this, these two artists are perfect examples to question the extent of this psychological influence on their work. Was psychoanalysis the primary goal for both artists? In this report I will analyse three texts from reputable sources about both Dali and Magritte, and aim to use evidence from these texts to come to a conclusion about my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To depict this psychological phenomena Dali creates his paintings with an incredibly detailed and realistic style. Martin writes that Dali s realistic style serves as a sharp contrast to the animalistic instincts and unusual concepts in his paintings. Upon analysing the use of irrational imagery and depictions of dreams in Dali s paintings, author Tim Martin shows the heavy interest in the ideas of the unconscious mind. Through Martin s writing it is clear that the unconscious mind was the most significant factor in Dali s artwork. Text 2 Dali Museum Text on The Persistence of Memory This text was written in 2009 for the Salvador Dali museum, aimed at high school students studying art history. The information in the text is extensive, and it is a reputable source of information, being written for the Dali museum itself. The author s analysis of the famous painting the Persistence of Memory describes the deformed clocks depicted in the painting. Dali painted a total of three of these malleable clocks for this work, placed apart in different places in the painting. The author of the text describes Dali s painting of different times on each clock face. By painting a different time on each clock face, Dali gestures at the relativity of the notion of time. This is an organ shaped like a butterfly which sits at the front of your neck, producing hormones that maintain your metabolism. Almost all thyroid surgery involves some type of thyroid removal, also called a thyroidectomy. There are two main types of thyroid removal: a total thyroidectomy and a hemithyroidectomy. In a total thyroidectomy, your whole thyroid gland is removed, whereas in a hemithyroidectomy only about one half of it is removed. Thyroid surgery is done by endocrine surgeons. These are surgeons who have specialised in operating on organs which produce hormones such as the thyroid, parathyroid, pancreas and adrenal glands. This means that the doctor carrying out the thyroid surgery will have years of experience in thyroid removal and be able to minimise any risks. My question is interesting because it s talking about what we all eat, cookies. 13.5% of Americans admitted to eat at least 20 cookies at a time. Real estate agents have used a fresh batch of chocolate chip cookies as a trick for decades. Americans have ate 2 billion cookies each year, which it can average 300 cookies per each person each year. • 11. Social Groups In The Breakfast Club The Breakfast Club is an often talked about film. One of the reasons for this is how it analyzes different social groups formed in high school, or even life. The groups that it talks about are The Brain, The Athlete, The Basket Case, The Princess, and The Criminal. One difficulty I had with this essay is that I found out I have a pretty limited social circle. I don t talk to many people and most of the people I do talk to are brains. I am very much like one of the characters in the movie. Even though it was a bit tough I was still able to find someone in my life to fill each of the categories. While some people are out partying others are studying. The ones studying are usually known as the brain or the nerds. They re usually said to be highly intelligent, hence the name. On the other hand they aren t known for being very athletic. Because of this they tend to butt heads with the athletes a lot and the two groups are considered polar opposites. While I know quite a few brains the one that sticks out the most is my friend Mike. He is constantly putting more work into things than necessary and always feels the need to be the best academically. He was always on the honor roll for high school and for very good reasons. Some other examples of Mikes generally nerdisms are the fact that he currently owns a $1000 pc, 2 tablets, and 2 laptops because he needs to be sure that when he is developing software or websites that it works well on different platforms. • 15. Cross Cultural Communication Selection And Review Cross Cultural Communication Selection and Review As Jeane Kirkpatrick once said, Cross cultural experience and communication teaches us not simply that people have different beliefs, but that people seek meaning and understand themselves and others in some sense as members of a universe ruled by God. Effective cross cultural communication with people of different cultures can be especially challenging. Culture itself provides human beings with different ways of thinking and responding, which includes a variety of different ways of seeing, hearing, and interpreting the world. While there are ways of translating the language of other cultures in order to have the ability to effectively use cross cultural communication (most specifically for collaborative purposes), the same words can mean different things to different people from different cultures, even when they speak the same language. In fact, when languages are diverse, and translation has to be used to communicate (cross cultural), the potential for misunderstandings and difficulty rises. In the case of Strategies for Smooth and Effective Cross Cultural Online Collaborative Learning written by Junfeng Yang, Kinshuk Huiju, Sue Jen Chen, and Ronghuai Huang, describes the difficulties with cross cultural communication and the findings of a study done by Hangzhou Normal University (China), Athabasca University (Canada), and University of North Caroline (United States) about this difficult subject and its gravity ... • 16. `` Alien Notion `` By Chip Rowe Alien Notion by Chip Rowe was featured in The Playboy Forum in February 2003. In this article Chip Rowe writes about the attempts of creationist to bring God into public schools. According to Chip Rowe, after the Supreme Court ruled that teaching biblical creationism in public school is a violation of church and state, creationist have been divided into two groups. One group called young earthers believe a literal interpretation of Genesis in the Bible, while the other group developed a new way to sneak God into the classroom by creating intelligent design or as Rowe describes it creationism after a shower and a shave . The creationist behind intelligent design avoid mention of Adam and Eve; instead they say any intelligent being could ve designed it. He also states that religious right organizers utilized grassroots lobbying efforts that gave intelligent design a legitimacy it didn t deserve . The feud between creationist and scientist about the origins of the universe dates back to the 20 s during the Scopes trial. Scientist are against creationism because there is no evidence to support the theory. Scientist support Charles Darwin s theory Darwinism, the theory that organisms evolve from simple to complex through minor adaptations over time, because it has held up for more than a century. Rowe s article expresses how he believes that creationist created intelligent design to take the place of creationism in public schools after the Supreme Court ruled that ... Weather this coffee is brewed at home, picked up on the way to work or slowly enjoyed at a café, coffee is a common ground between millions of people. Coffee is estimated to be a $20 billion industry, its impacts reaching almost every corner of the earth. As coffee spread around the world and demand for the bean grew, an industry popped up that led to current day unethical and unsustainable practices surrounding the production and marketing of the bean. Vast consumption of coffee is what continues the drive to cultivate and produce the drink. The production of coffee affects the environmental ethics of many communities, but through changing the markets and commodities surrounding coffee, negative impacts of its production have turned around drastically. From first being discovered by humans in ancient Ethiopia, coffee has gone from being seen skeptically as a magical plant to a staple drink in most societies. A myth puts a goat herder in the fields of Ethiopia, and one day he noticed his goats were acting more chipper than usual. They had eaten an unusual berry that gave them these tendencies. The goat herder brought the beans to his monastery, where the religious leaders mushed the berries up and ate them. They then stood alert through late hours of prayer, uncovering their effect on humans. (Starbird, 1981) From the beans discovery in Ethiopia it has had many forms of consumption. Our ... Imperialism is when a group of people believe that they are superior, and see others as inferior. This leads to them thinking that they have the entitlement to take what they want. This is shown in the movie Avatar when the humans think that they are more superior and take away important landmarks to the Na Vi people,Such as Home Tree. The the idea of imperialism is shown, when the humans destroyed Home Tree, the living area of the Na Vii. Home Tree is also sitting on a large mass of unobtainium, which is a grey rock that is found on the land of Pandora. On earth this rock sells for 20 million per kilogram and the humans are in desperate need for it. We can see this through dialogue and mise en scene. It is shown when Parker Selfridge (The head of administration for the RDA) explained to Grace (the head of the science for the RDA on Pandora). That the only reason her science is taking place is because the little grey rock sells for 20 million per kilogram . At this point in the film there is a close up shot of the unobtainium floating on a magnet, this makes it look highly important and of great value. It collapsed on November 7, 1940 just months after its opening on July 1, 1940. It was designed by Leon Moisseiff and at its time it was the third largest suspension bridge in the world with a center span of over half a mile long. The bridge was very narrow and sleek giving it a look of grace, but this design made it very flexible in the wind. Nicknamed the Galloping Gertie, because of its undulating behavior, the Tacoma Narrows Bridge drew the attention of motorists seeking a cheap thrill. Stiffening girders and trusses are along the side of the bridge to distribute concentrated loads and help to keep the motion of the bridge at a minimum (Troitsky, 1994, p115). The basic design of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge itself was a suspension bridge with a center span of 2800 feet and two side spans of one 1100 feet (Farquharson, 1950, p. 17). Its two lane, reinforced concrete roadway was twenty six feet wide with two 5 foot, 9 inch sidewalks (Farquharson, 1950, p. 19). Overall the superstructure was 5939 feet, including the suspension structures, approach spans and anchorages (Farquharson, 1950, p. 19). Anchorages were made of solid concrete and were fifty feet by 170 feet and were fifty feet high (Farquharson, 1950, p. 19). The main towers which the cables saddle were 425 feet in height and with a spacing of thirty nine feet at the top and fifty feet at the bottom (Farquharson, 1950, p. 19). Each cable consisted of nineteen strands of galvanized wire and totaled a diameter of seventeen inches. He rejected previously popular views from the prewar era, namely Historicism, which focuses on only historical evidence in the observation of political and social events. In his book, Popper Selections, Popper vehemently opposes ideas such as historicism, collectivism, utopian principles, and the Marxian ideology. Popper then places emphasis on the importance on the rise of tradition, meaning a tradition in places of learning that encourages critical discussion and new ideas, perhaps even rewards them. Not only does Popper maintain that this rise of criticism is important, he also states that those being criticized should be tolerant of dissenting view points and seek to understand the opposition rather than rejecting it. Furthermore, Popper states, the rationalist tradition, the tradition of critical discussion, represents the only practicable way of expanding our knowledge (Popper 1985). These ideas of critical discussion and critical rationalism essentially serve as the thesis to Popper s theory. Popper s reliance on the testability, falsifiability, scientific methodology and accumulating data and theories serve as the main components of Popperism. The Popperian ideology seems to be directly in opposition to historicism. However, upon meeting Amy, Sheldon begins to transition from his predisposed mindset to a more accepting one. At first, Sheldon only wanted to communicate with people like himself because his attitudes reflected that anyone unlike him was unworthy. Another instance where the Radical Republicans abused their power was during the impeachment of Andrew Johnson.
