America s Disagreement During The Vietnam War
The Quebec Agreement was signed on August 19, 1943 between the United States and Great
Britain and guaranteed that the two countries would share scientific information relating to the
atomic bomb project, also known as interchange. From the beginning of the project they had agreed
to share information in order for a bomb to be built during the war, but once it moved into the
development stage James Conant suggested to President Roosevelt that their agreement was no
longer viable. Conant argued that the bomb could not possibly be used by the British during the
war and therefore the United Statesdid not have to honor the interchange agreement. The United
States was not ready to enter into a post war alliance at that point and it was obvious that Britain
did not have the resources necessary to build bombs that could be used during the war. However,
the realities of the post war situation eventually won the day and the United States and Great
Britain resumed full... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Britain would not be able to stand up to the size and strength of the Red Army on its own however.
In order to effectively resist Soviet encroachment, Britain needed the atomic bomb. Britain also

Essay on Dupont Divestiture
DuPont s Divestiture of Conoco| Analysis of the Merger| |
DuPont began life in 1802, as a gunpowder manufacturer supplying the US Army under President
Thomas Jefferson. The company had a long tradition of technological innovations in business and it
continues to serve worldwide markets including food and nutrition; health care; agriculture; fashion
and apparel; home and construction; and electronics. Among some of its inventions are nylon
stockings invented in 1939, Teflon for pans, Kevlar for bullet proof vests, stainmaster for carpets,
the synthetic fabric lycra, and Dacron for clothing. In 1999 the company held a portfolio of 2000
trademarks and brands. DuPont was the 15th largest company in the US with its 1998 revenue ...

In order to make the second stage completely tax free DuPont had to satisfy a number of IRS rules
and regulations. These rules stated that DuPont had to control Conoco immediately before the split
off, meaning that it had to control at least 80% of Conoco s stock. In addition the split had to be
motivated by a valid business purpose. Also DuPont had to get rid of all Conoco stock so it
would not have any control over the company after the deal was completed. Conoco had to be
recapitalized or reorganized into two classes of common stock. Class A stock that carried one
vote each, issued to the public and Class B stock with five votes each, retained by DuPont for
later disbursement to DuPont shareholders in the exchange offer. Prior to the IPO, Conoco would
have to issue a $7.5 billion promissory note to DuPont as a dividend. The payment would be tax
free to both parties because at the time DuPont owned all of Conoco. Conoco would in turn, use the
proceeds to pay back part of the note and other intercompany notes with DuPont.
While I do agree with the Chief Operating Officer that a 100% IP of Conoco would raise a
significant amount of cash to use in our core business growth internationally, allowing us to expand
our global operations. I think the equity care out

Analysis Of Proust And The Squid By Maryanne Wolf
# Essay 3
*Proust and the Squid,* by Professor Maryanne Wolf, unveils and celebrates reading, one of the
single most remarkable inventions in history. (3) While it might seem absurd today, reading was
invented only a few thousand years ago, and consequently it has had an undeniably colossal
influence on humanity. Imagining a world without text seems unbelievable now, but for the better
part of humanity this medium of communication was nonexistent. In this book,
[Wolf] hope[s] to push [the readers] gently toward reconsidering things [they] might long have
taken for granted such as how natural it is for a child to learn to read. In the evolution of our brain s
capacity to learn, the act of reading is not natural, with consequences both ... Show more content on

Far from being a one dimensional action, reading depends on hundreds of interweaving threads and
neurons in the human brain. In an infinity loop, whenever a new experience occurs, the human
brain constructs new connections among already existing structures. These new structures enhance
the action of doing the original, causative experience; then those same structures strengthen, and so
forth. This positive feedback loop in known as *neural plasticity,* and is, in short, the basis for
much of who we are, and who we might become. (3)
Reading is an intellectual feat of monstrous proportions. It changes the brain, and thus [it is a]
powerful mirror of... how the brain learns anything new. (4) To better comprehend its magnitude,
Wolf divides her work into three topics: the history of reading, how a modern child learns to read,
and the case when a child struggles to learn to read. These three sections, when taken together,
provide a holistic and nuanced view of the act of reading, making the reader appreciate the things
once taken for granted. Out of the three sections, it is the beginning section, which illustrates the
invention of reading in history, that is most

Suburban Policing Techniques
Community policing techniques may vary from suburban communities and inner cities because of
the demographics of the regions. Community policing in suburban communities can certainly
contribute to a greater decrease in crime because of the close quarters police officers have with the
members of the community. Community policing is designed as a proactive approach in reducing
crimein the community. A collaborative relationship between law enforcementand individuals only
strengthens the trust with the police. Indeed this relationship is embedded in suburban areas because
policer officers are constantly personalizing their response calls. In addition, Law enforcement
agencies in suburban community may rely on more financial base resources in contributing to the
infrastructure of neighborhoods. For example, policies are implemented in renovating after school
programs for the better of the community. Many police officers... Show more content on

Police departments emphasize their techniques on response time rather than interaction with the
victims or respondents. The ideal practice for police departments in inner cities is preventing
crime before it occurs. So in fact, there is a larger representation of police officers patrolling the
streets of areas of high crime rates. The elements of crime in inner cities are far more likely to
occur than in suburban communities. As recently stated, police officers in inner cities encounter a
large population to govern, in fact they deal with various ethnic groups. In this case, police
departments in inner cities typically adopt police officers of similar ethnic backgrounds. This is
important because this allows the police officers to communicate with the people in neighborhoods
they are patrolling. Without a diverse police force, community policing in inner cities wouldn t be
effective at all because of the language

Racism In Social Work
The American Ideal of Looksism is what society says we are supposed to look like, the white
Anglo Saxon Protestant ideal (Day Schiele, 2013, p. 14). An example of this is the Barbie doll.
She is tall, skinny, white, blonde hair and blue eyed. This is the doll that little girls grow up
wanting to look like because society is teaching them that this is the ideal. Otherism is the use of
stereotypes to objectify those who are different from us (Day Schiele, 2013, p. 15). If someone
does not fit the ideal they are considered not normal or bad. An example of this is objectifying a
whole race; by saying the Mexicans are stealing White jobs. While this is untrue, the Mexican
heritage is different from the white Anglo Saxon ideals, so some see it as bad and are threatened
by it, thus creating this racist stereotype.
The practice of social work has evolved from three major movements, The Charity Organizations,
Settlement Houses, and Child Saving Movements. Charity organization societies were
developed by philanthropists to regulate the use of charitable agencies by the poor (pg. 52).
This society was organized to assist the needy, but also to ensure that they only received help
from one charity. There is a stigma that people should not be helped too much or they will
become reliant on the assistance of the government. Our role as a social worker is to make sure
that people are getting as much assistance as they need. Some people have no choice and do have
to rely on

Teenage Abortion In The United States

John F Kennedy Roanoke Conspiracy Essay
Two mysteries that no one might ever have an answer for. One happened over 500 years ago. The
other, only 53 to be exact. Both of these events would be labeled as conspiracy theories. The
Roanoke Colony disappearance and assassination of John F. Kennedy are similar and different in
many ways including the background, people involved, and evidence found.
Not many people probably know about both of these events. The background stories are
essential to know to make predictions of what happened. The Roanoke Colony has a lot to do
with the Mayflower. In the year of 1587, Sir Walter Raleigh sent out a group of about 115
colonists to start a colony. The primary destination for the colony was on Chesapeake Bay. John
White was appointed leader of the group. Soon after John White was chosen governor, he and
Raleigh named 12 assistants to help in the settlement. On July 22, 1587, they were told to travel to
Roanoke to check on the settlers, but when they arrived they found no one. The island was

The Power Of Music In A Long Way Gone By Ishmael Beah
Living For Music Music is like the wardrobe to Narnia. It sends an individual into a whole new
world and causes one to forget about the world and problems they are living in now. In the novel
A Long Way Gone: Memoir of a Boy Soldier by Ishmael Beah, Beah becomes a child soldier
unwillingly during a civil war in Sierra, Leone when he is twelve years old. All he had was his
rap music that kept him going. In Ishmael Beahs novel he uses detail and diction to highlight
how music provides a means by which ones life can be saved by the power of music, can
temporarily escape the harsh realities of life, and can connect to happier times. Music is so
important to Beah because it saved his life by providing proof of his innocence. Beah and some
boys he was traveling with got captured by the chief of a village, tied them up and undressed them.
His cassettes were found and the chief put the cassettes in and pressed play . He asked where Beah
had gotten this music and replied rap music he used to listen...and preform the songs at talent shows

The Weight Of One Of The World s Most Dominant Religions
Jesus as a Figure in History: a Wealth of Information for Those Already Informed
Jesus Christ is one of the most recognizable figures in the modern world. And the legacies of few
people have sparked as many wars, built as many nations, and changed as many individual s lives,
as Jesus of Nazareth. Understandably, scholars and spiritualists alike have striven to answer one
central question, who was this Jesus? To some, He is known as the Son of God, who overcame
death and sin, offering salvation through His resurrection for all who place their faith in him. To
others, He was merely a carpenter from the small town of Nazareth, living in the early years of the
Common Era. And trying to figure out much else about Jesus is one of the most ... Show more

In antiquity, historical thought was not what we would recognize as history today. Those who
lived alongside Jesus, or wrote about Him in contemporary times were not concerned so much
with what was but with what ought to have been. They wrote biographies with some sort of pre
conceived posture of who Jesus was, and molded the story to present that character. This was not
seen as dishonest in ancient times; in fact, it was considered the truest of histories.
But in the age of the Enlightenment, scholars began concerning themselves with the historical
validity of the subjects they studied. This began the first wave of historical Jesus scholarship. At this
time, various scholars became intent on discovering the historical Jesus, and began writing
various works, presented as the life of Jesus. But these writings suffered from an integral flaw,
which has infected historical Jesus scholarship until today. Rather than being works of discovery,
they were truly projects. Powell argues well, in his first chapter on the history of the historical
Jesus movement, that a life of Jesus would typically impose some grand scheme or hypothesis
upon the material that allowed everything to be interpreted in accord with a consistent paradigm...
[and] exclude material in the Gospels that did not fit with this paradigm... (Powell, 12) Powell takes

The Gilded And Progressive Eras
Kailyn McComb
History 1151
Professor Rob Denning

Reforming America
The gilded and progressive eras in America were times of expansion, urbanization, and what
seemed like a golden pathway to an industrialized future. In the 1850s, railroads were being built
all across America, and with that came the rise of the steel and oil industries, as well as dramatic
population increases in the newly urbanized cities. Such a change in society created a gap between
social classes causes incredible amounts of poverty for many, and incredible wealth for few. Three
main struggles during this crucial time in America were political corruption, the rapid expansion of
urban cities, and the unfair, and unsafe working conditions. Through these difficult times, many
different types of reform were supported, but few were actually effective. One of the largest
problems facing Americans during the gilded age and progressive era was political corruption. The
late 1800s and early 1900s were filled with political machines such as George Plunkitt and James
Gillespie Blaine. Plunkitt was known as the leader of Tammany Hall, an Irish based organization
that was heavy in politics during the 19th century. Politicians affiliated with Tammany Hall would
provide jobs, money or other favors and in return would receive government favors. Although
Plunkitt believed he was doing no wrong, many Americans saw this as taking the patronage system
for granted. During an interview, Plunkitt said, I

Using P element Induced Male Recombination to Generate a Deletion in the DMAP1 Gene on
Chromosome Two in Drosophila melanogaster
Abstract: The goal of this study was to induce a deletion in the DMAP1 gene on chromosome
two in Drosophila melanogaster through P element mobilization. The DMAP1 gene may be an
essential gene, however not much is known about it. We attempted to uncover the function of
DMAP1 by creating a series of genetic crosses and selecting for brown eyed non stubble male
flies that may have the deletion. To test whether these flies had the deletion, we produced PCR
products and ran them on an agarose gel, which resulted as inconclusive. We created a balanced
stock of flies homozygous for the deletion to see if the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, wings clipped P elements that lack the inverted repeats (not able to be mobilized
themselves), which are not internally deleted and can produce a transposase source, can be
introduced to the internally deleted P element to provide transposase and therefore allow
transposition to occur. The provided transposase recognizes and binds to inverted repeats on the
internally deleted P element, which introduces nicks in the DNA beside the inverted repeats. This
allows the element to excise and insert into a new location. If it excises neatly out of the DNA, a
deletion will not occur. However, if it excises to a homologue towards the right or the left, due to
an error in the excision process, a deletion will occur through this pre meiotic recombination
event. This process of P element mobilization is the basis of how we directed recombination in
male flies, and therefore the basis of generating deletions in the DMAP1 gene. We made several
crosses that allowed P element mobilization to occur in male flies by crossing P element strains
(non autonomous) to a transposase source, producing heterozygous flies containing a P element
and a transposase source, and therefore allowing us to induce and detect male recombination events
in progeny. The specific recombination event of interest is when the P element is mobilized
towards the right onto a homologue, which may have induced a deletion in

The Text Of The Meno By Plato
In the text of the Meno by Plato, the dialogue develops and attempts to answer the question of what
virtue is, and whether it is teachable. The paradox explained can be used to discuss merely
anything, and we can thus say that either one knows or does not know. If a person knows, then they
cannot investigate or question their knowledge. However, if a person does not know, they cannot
inquire about it which means a person cannot question for not knowing what they do not know.
Platogoes ahead and resolves the paradox in the Meno by saying that, one would not seek what
he knows, for since he knows it there is no need of the inquiry, nor what he does not know, for in
that case he does not even know what he is to look for. (Meno 80E)
The Meno dialogue elaborates that in order to understand ways of finding the diagonal of a
given square, a person needs to prompt knowledge that is concealed to the source. The Meno
clearly states that knowledge is an essence to belief. Therefore, what matters and draws an ethical
line between belief and knowledge is justification. If a person knows and believes, then it is not
enough for one to justify it solely on those means. The Meno dialogue explains that in knowledge,
a belief needs an account to tie it down and set a better example.
The Platonic theory of forms that Plato raised relies on the belief that the forms or ideas and not
the materialistic example or material is the highest most fundamental kind of reality. He uses the
principle of

course I said yes I was so excited and was glad they chose me to go along with them that day.
Our ride to Julian California took about a hour or two to get there. We arrived in the desert along
a highway and parked the car on the side of the road, not knowing what lied ahead of us. We
pulled the motor bikes out of the trailer and got on our gear, so we would be protected. At first I
had a little trouble with handling the motorbike with the clutch and the geers but after a while I
had gotten the hang of it. We had been riding for about 1 2 hours that night. Until something
horrible had happened. I was motor biking about 30 feet away from the road, where it was
supposed to be safe and uninhabited by cars. Along the highway still 30 feet away from it I had
been motor biking not knowing what was going to happen

Narrow cobblestone streets above wide canals, rosy cheeked people riding bicycles, interesting
museums, old windmills, beautiful tulips, and cheese to die for. I do not have to add coffee

obviously talking about the lovely city of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. My very first trip to
Amsterdam started at a very young age at only a month old. I am a frequent visitor of the
Netherlands to this day. Born and raised in America, a southern girl with a wanderlust mind, the
Netherlands will always have a special place in my heart. Transportation around Amsterdam is
unique; from floating down the canals, to riding bicycles everywhere, to trains, and trams.
Amsterdam s public transportation is first class. It s frequent, fast, and affordable. Like I said

The Greek Hero Of Fame
Greek Hero Essay
Why should Perseus be in the Greek Hall of Fame?
Who was given gifts by gods and goddesses? Who was almost killed by his grandfather? Whose
father was the biggest man on campus? Well, that was Perseus, son of Zeus, and killer of Medusa.
Perseus was a descendant of Zeus and Danae, Acrisius, his grandfather did not like him, so he sent
him and his mother away in a chest in the ocean. Perseus should be in the Greek Hero Hall of
Fame, for multiple different reasons. When considering why he should be in the Greek Hero
Hall of Fame, Perseus must be important because if he wasn t why would there be so many books
and movies, all about him. For example, Percy Jackson book series and movies, and The Clash of
the Titans. Perseus is a Greek hero because he was born of a royal birth, had extreme feats, and
died a usual death.
To begin, Perseus was born a son of Zeus and Danae, and from the royal families of the
Olympians, from Zeus, and Libians, from Danae. Even though, he was born into a royal family, he
wasn t wanted in the royal family, since Acrisius sent him away, he really didn t get any power to
the royal family. Perseus, was basically excluded from the family. One piece of evidence is,
according to Ancient origins.net, it states, His grandfather was the king of Argos, Acrisius, who
with his wife, Eurydice, had a daughter Danae. But Acrisius wanted a son. He went to the Oracle of
Delphi who told him that, not only would he have another child, but that child

Post Operative Education to a Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Patient
One of the scariest medical diagnoses a patient can receive from a physician is, their heart is not
functioning properly. A malfunctioning heart will eventually lead to death if correction of the
issue is not attempted. The heart supplies the entire body with oxygenated blood but also needs its
own supply of oxygen rich blood. This is why coronary arteries are vital to the hearts ability to
pump. A final option to correcting malfunctioning coronary arteries is a surgical procedure,
coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Every year approximately 450,000 patients have CABG
surgery in the United States (Mullen Fortino O Brien, 2008). Based on continuing healthcare
trends, more and more people each year are having coronary artery issues, causing the need for
CABG surgery to rise. Also patient demographics are changing, they are older, sicker, have more
extensive coronary artery blockage / damage, and likely have poorer functioning ventricles of the
heart (Sidebotham, McKee, Gillham Levy, 2007). The nursing profession has a critical role in
caring for the patients but also teaching and educating them before and after any procedure.
Education and teaching has been implemented into evidence based practice for years to facilitate

The Importance Of School Dress Codes
An Atlanta school board is set to announce in January its decision on the petition of two 5th
grade students to change the school s dress code. The girls wanted to be allowed to wear
skintight leggings without any skirt or shorts on top of the leggings. Similar debates are taking
place in other schools across the US as students seek more liberal changes to their schools dress
codes. The push is in response to recent changes made by some school boards, similar to public
schools in Evanston, Illinois, which allowed students to wear anything, but the genitalia and the
nipple of the breast must be covered, Psychology Today reported. Liberal dress code The result
of the liberal dress code is many female students go to school wearing skintight leggings and a
tight top that starts just above the breasts and ends above the belly button. It has been a clothing
trend in more than 400 schools the past 16 years. The acceptance of such types of apparel for
school has become so common when at the turn of the millennium, it would be unusual for a
female teenager to attend class in a very short skirt and thin material made of mesh for her top,
with undergarments visible under the mesh. Studies show that when girls frequently wear skintight
leggings or a swimsuit (outside the pool), she is engaged in self objectification. The girl sees
herself as an object of display for others. The more the public the setting is when she wears those
flimsy clothing, the more likely that

Compare and contrast Porphyrias lover and My last Duchess
Porphyrias lover and My Last Duchess are similar in many ways, they are both written by Robert

of a count, whose daughter he hopes, to marry. The Duke is trying to impress the counts
representative by showing him around his gallery and the painting of his last Duchess. He openly
speaks about having his last Duchess murdered, because she did not show him enough respect.

The upper class in both poems are in control for most of it. Porphyria and the Duke are both in
relationships with a class lower than themselves. Both of them loose control, this results in
Porphyria dying and the Duchess dying. The Duke remains in control and so does
Porphyria s lover. This could symbolise a man s power, both men come out on top. However there
are differences in this.
The first and most obvious difference is the way the two women are killed. Both women are killed
by a lower class then themselves. My

killed her out of passion because of his love for her. The Duke had the Duchess killed because he

hearted and instead of talking he just hires someone to kill her.

Demise of Macbeth Macbeth, written by William Shakespeare, is the tragic tale of a virtuous

The group embraced solidarity with such unions provided that their needs not just as socialists but
the Black feminists were met.
The Combahee River Collective also stresses on the relationship with their subjugation and how it
molded their identities. It is through the use of the identity politics, especially their atypical
experience, that they pursued the immediate freedom for the Black women. Even though the group
called for the liberation of the women of color, the activists did not assume an exclusive standpoint,
but instead a humble ground for their group. The collective did not want pedestals, Queenwood and
lagging ten steps behind but rather to be accepted as human, just sensibly as humans ( The
Combahee River Collective ). The group s primary focus was on the liberation of the Black women,
something they expressed in the statement black women are inherently valuable.
The group voiced its concerns in a positive, yet proud, way. It celebrated one another s personal
experiences in a non elitist manner. The members of the group endeavored to show people around
the world that their identity considerations and associations do not score their experience of
repression. They emphasized that the oppression they underwent is no more than an experience or

Farmer s Market
What is a common American food market? To me, an International student from China, the first
impression of American markets is the large dense stores like Wal Marts that include all kind of
food and supplies. It is a wonderful place that has efficiency and cheapness. However, in Michael
Pollan s article Food Fight, he mentions Although cheap food is good politics, it turns out there are

People that have lower income cannot afford the price of better food; therefore those people
would choose to shop in large groceries for its lower price and larger quantity. In Pollan s word,
supermarkets sell cheap and unhealthy food to consumers while Farmer s Market can afford
consumers better options. However People can still get better organic food in supermarkets at lower
price these days. It actually applies that supermarkets nowadays are serving better quality food
from local farms just as what Pollan s idea of Farmers Market but with wholesale price. Consumers
now prefer supermarkets for its increasing better quality food and stable price.
Also, as I mentioned before, supermarket is really convenient for consumers for not only having
better quality food in lower price but also serving multi options in a large amount. Compare to
the supermarkets, the space of Farmer s Market is limited, which leads to the food options are
limited. Farmer s Market cannot satisfy every consumer s need of food. From what I observed
in Berkley s Farmers Market, the food options is really being restricted. Farmer s can only get
food that is easy to be carried and kept like fruits, vegetables and made up articles for selling, and
consumers, in the other hand, have limited options. Also, not everyone has the ability to get the

which was a prerequisite for the Statistics course. That was my first day of what would turn out
to be a lengthy college career. Looking back the question held deeper meaning than I initially
thought. My reasons for taking that course and others was due to following friends and feelings
of obligation to attend college. I was enrolling in courses as if I were checking off items from a
grocery list. Never meeting with advisors or forming an academic plan, I naively assumed
everything would just fall into place. I had developed no goals nor aspirations,... Show more content

The opportunity allowed me to work and travel, to break away from the stagnation I was seeing
in my friends lives as well as my own. The work, privately contracted security, allowed me to
earn a substantial income while travelling to different parts of the world. This required me to be
away from home usually for a period of six to nine months. In off months I would return to
Florida, where I would enroll in online courses to pass the time. I found the work at your own
pace greatly appealing, hoping the greater flexibility would be favorable. While I did manage to
find some success, I ended up at the same pitfalls. Still devoid of a reason, trying to force my
way in fulfilling an obligation. For me the contract work was always a means to an end. It
provided the ability to solve a problem I d come to understand over the years as I grew older and
wiser. I had no sense of self, no real perspective to call my own. I was in my mid twenties with no
long term goals in life. It was time to make a change, something drastic that would allow me to
break away from the distractions and pitfalls. In September of 2013, I packed up and moved to
Seattle, Washington. To this day, I get odd looks when I tell people I moved here from Florida,
usually emphasizing the need for a change of scenery and weather. In reality, I chose Seattle for a
clean slate and to immerse myself in a technology rich environment.

Styles Of Leadership
In this assignment I aim to outline the advantages, disadvantages and overall effectiveness of the
different styles of leadership.
Authoritarian, or Autocratic, leaderships revolve around a single leader, and those close to them,
whose word is law and power absolute. Authoritarian leaders are confident in their ability to lead
and to take charge. This means that they should be taken seriously at all times; if a subordinate
does not take them serious they may lash out, threaten or simply punish the individual or the entire
group to get their point across. They also prioritise the task over the individual and the group
This leadership style is best suited to emergency situations when the leader is competent and
confident in his ability to succeed, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Democratic works well with skilled and motivated people because they want choice or the ability
to influence one; the leader also wants to hear what people have to say because they want input
and new ideas to directly improve conditions for the group.
The main negative of Democracy is that the leader cannot easily appeal to the minority without
angering the majority because they will lose more support than they gain. Not everyone has an
interest in politics or voting these people are generally happy either way or impossible to please.
Another problem is that because more people are involved with leading the country secrets could
leak; this could be personnel secrets about the leader or even military related secrets.
Democracy is like Autocracy because there is only one leader and they will make the final choice,
however a Democratic leader values the opinions of his subordinates and will choose based on that.
Decision making in a Democracy is very slow when compared to Authoritarianism because the time
it takes for a vote is time

Ride Along 2 Analysis
After four weeks of dominance, The Force was officially been subdued and dethroned by the
new comedy sequel, Ride Along 2. With a significant debut of $34 million, the comedy duo of
Kevin Hart Ice Cube strikes again just as they did with their predecessor nearly two years ago to
the day. Unfortunately, not everything about Ride Along 2 s victory is good news as the new
film failed to surpass the opening establish by 2014 s Ride Along ($41.5 million). Of course poor
reviews didn t help the comedy s cause, either as it currently maintains a wretched score of 14%
at RottenTomatoes. Regardless, Ride Along 2 is far from a bust after being produced on $40
million. Holding strong in the second position is the new Golden Globe winner for Best Drama,
The Revenant which grabbed a healthy $29.5 million. The film, starring Leonardo DiCaprio,
gave Star Wars a run for its money last weekend, through coming up just short. However, with a
slew of Golden Globe wins last weekend, The Revenant picked up steam and should continue to
remain relevant as we move closer to he Oscars in February. To date, The Revenant has grossed
$111.4 million, worldwide ($87.6 million, domestically), and was produced on $135 million....

No Witchcraft For Sale Analysis
Throughout No Witchcraft for Sale, Doris Lessing develops a theme surrounding the topics of
family, trust, and religion. Lessing does this by developing a cast of characters including Teddy,
the Farquars, and Gideon. She mentions how the Farquars and their servant Gideon had grown
close to each other after the birth of the Farquars son Teddy. She also explains how the Farquars
were a deeply religious family and that Gideon was a mission boy himself. However, when a
scientist arrives from the city to explore the native knowledge of medicine, Gideon s trust and
relationship with the Farquars is tried. Although Gideon is not a direct relative of the Farquars, the
theme of this story is a trialof family and family s strength to overcome. After the birth of Teddy,
Lessing explains how Gideon quickly grew close to the new child and consequently the Farquars.
Lessing explained, Gideon and Teddy were great friends from the first (Lessing). This is
important because Lessing goes on to write about how Gideon would spend his time after work
playing with Teddy and how Gideon helped Teddy take his first steps.
However, the first trial of the family comes when Teddy frightened Gideon s youngest son with
his scooter, ...he raced in circles around the black child until he was frightened, and fled back to
the bush (Lessing). After Teddy does this Gideon confronts Teddy with concern about why Teddy
would do this. To Gideon s horror Teddy replied with, ...He s only a black boy...

She liked the store, which had a bright, trendy dГ©cor and well groomed, friendly staff.
Unfortunately the cutter was 20 minutes, which she used to review a chapter for tomorrow s
human resources course. Some of the other waiting customers were reading magazines provided
by the store. Eventually it was time for a shampoo, after which the stylist proposed a slightly
different cut. Susan agreed, although she drew the line at the suggestion to lighten her hair color.
She sat very still. Watching the process in the mirror and turning her head when requested. She was
pleased with the result and complimented the cutter on her work. Including the shampoo, the
process lasted about 40 minutes. She tipped the cutter and paid at the reception desk. The rain had
stopped and the sun was shining as Susan left the store, so she walked home, stopping to pick up
clothes from the cleaners. This store was rather gloomy, smelled of cleaning solvents, and badly
needed repainting. She was annoyed to find that although her silk blouse was ready as promised,
the suit she would need for her interview was not. The assistant, who dirty fingernails, mumbled an
apology in an insincere tone without making eye contact. Although the store was convenient and
the quality of work quite good, Susan considered the employees unfriendly and not very helpful.

America s Disagreement During The Vietnam War The Quebec Agreement was signed on August 19, 1943 between the United States and Great Britain and guaranteed that the two countries would share scientific information relating to the atomic bomb project, also known as interchange. From the beginning of the project they had agreed to share information in order for a bomb to be built during the war, but once it moved into the development stage James Conant suggested to President Roosevelt that their agreement was no longer viable. Conant argued that the bomb could not possibly be used by the British during the war and therefore the United Statesdid not have to honor the interchange agreement. The United States was not ready to enter into a post war alliance at that point and it was obvious that Britain did not have the resources necessary to build bombs that could be used during the war. Essay on Dupont Divestiture DuPont s Divestiture of Conoco| Analysis of the Merger| | DuPont began life in 1802, as a gunpowder manufacturer supplying the US Army under President Thomas Jefferson. The company had a long tradition of technological innovations in business and it continues to serve worldwide markets including food and nutrition; health care; agriculture; fashion and apparel; home and construction; and electronics. Among some of its inventions are nylon stockings invented in 1939, Teflon for pans, Kevlar for bullet proof vests, stainmaster for carpets, the synthetic fabric lycra, and Dacron for clothing. In order to make the second stage completely tax free DuPont had to satisfy a number of IRS rules and regulations. These rules stated that DuPont had to control Conoco immediately before the split off, meaning that it had to control at least 80% of Conoco s stock. In addition the split had to be motivated by a valid business purpose. Also DuPont had to get rid of all Conoco stock so it would not have any control over the company after the deal was completed. Conoco had to be recapitalized or reorganized into two classes of common stock. Class A stock that carried one vote each, issued to the public and Class B stock with five votes each, retained by DuPont for later disbursement to DuPont shareholders in the exchange offer. Prior to the IPO, Conoco would have to issue a $7.5 billion promissory note to DuPont as a dividend. The payment would be tax free to both parties because at the time DuPont owned all of Conoco. Conoco would in turn, use the proceeds to pay back part of the note and other intercompany notes with DuPont. • 5. Analysis Of Proust And The Squid By Maryanne Wolf # Essay 3 *Proust and the Squid,* by Professor Maryanne Wolf, unveils and celebrates reading, one of the single most remarkable inventions in history. (3) While it might seem absurd today, reading was invented only a few thousand years ago, and consequently it has had an undeniably colossal influence on humanity. Imagining a world without text seems unbelievable now, but for the better part of humanity this medium of communication was nonexistent. In this book, [Wolf] hope[s] to push [the readers] gently toward reconsidering things [they] might long have taken for granted such as how natural it is for a child to learn to read. In the evolution of our brain s capacity to learn, the act of reading is not natural, with consequences both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Far from being a one dimensional action, reading depends on hundreds of interweaving threads and neurons in the human brain. In an infinity loop, whenever a new experience occurs, the human brain constructs new connections among already existing structures. These new structures enhance the action of doing the original, causative experience; then those same structures strengthen, and so forth. This positive feedback loop in known as *neural plasticity,* and is, in short, the basis for much of who we are, and who we might become. (3) Reading is an intellectual feat of monstrous proportions. It changes the brain, and thus [it is a] powerful mirror of... how the brain learns anything new. (4) To better comprehend its magnitude, Wolf divides her work into three topics: the history of reading, how a modern child learns to read, and the case when a child struggles to learn to read. These three sections, when taken together, provide a holistic and nuanced view of the act of reading, making the reader appreciate the things once taken for granted. • 6. Suburban Policing Techniques Community policing techniques may vary from suburban communities and inner cities because of the demographics of the regions. Community policing in suburban communities can certainly contribute to a greater decrease in crime because of the close quarters police officers have with the members of the community. Community policing is designed as a proactive approach in reducing crimein the community. A collaborative relationship between law enforcementand individuals only strengthens the trust with the police. Indeed this relationship is embedded in suburban areas because policer officers are constantly personalizing their response calls. In addition, Law enforcement agencies in suburban community may rely on more financial base resources in contributing to the infrastructure of neighborhoods. Police departments emphasize their techniques on response time rather than interaction with the victims or respondents. The ideal practice for police departments in inner cities is preventing crime before it occurs. So in fact, there is a larger representation of police officers patrolling the streets of areas of high crime rates. The elements of crime in inner cities are far more likely to occur than in suburban communities. As recently stated, police officers in inner cities encounter a large population to govern, in fact they deal with various ethnic groups. In this case, police departments in inner cities typically adopt police officers of similar ethnic backgrounds. This is important because this allows the police officers to communicate with the people in neighborhoods they are patrolling. • 7. Racism In Social Work The American Ideal of Looksism is what society says we are supposed to look like, the white Anglo Saxon Protestant ideal (Day Schiele, 2013, p. 14). An example of this is the Barbie doll. She is tall, skinny, white, blonde hair and blue eyed. This is the doll that little girls grow up wanting to look like because society is teaching them that this is the ideal. Otherism is the use of stereotypes to objectify those who are different from us (Day Schiele, 2013, p. 15). If someone does not fit the ideal they are considered not normal or bad. An example of this is objectifying a whole race; by saying the Mexicans are stealing White jobs. While this is untrue, the Mexican heritage is different from the white Anglo Saxon ideals, so some see it as bad and are threatened by it, thus creating this racist stereotype. The practice of social work has evolved from three major movements, The Charity Organizations, Settlement Houses, and Child Saving Movements. Charity organization societies were developed by philanthropists to regulate the use of charitable agencies by the poor (pg. 52). This society was organized to assist the needy, but also to ensure that they only received help from one charity. There is a stigma that people should not be helped too much or they will become reliant on the assistance of the government. Our role as a social worker is to make sure that people are getting as much assistance as they need. Some people have no choice and do have to rely on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

And the legacies of few people have sparked as many wars, built as many nations, and changed as many individual s lives, as Jesus of Nazareth. Understandably, scholars and spiritualists alike have striven to answer one central question, who was this Jesus? To some, He is known as the Son of God, who overcame death and sin, offering salvation through His resurrection for all who place their faith in him. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In antiquity, historical thought was not what we would recognize as history today. Those who lived alongside Jesus, or wrote about Him in contemporary times were not concerned so much with what was but with what ought to have been. They wrote biographies with some sort of pre conceived posture of who Jesus was, and molded the story to present that character. This was not seen as dishonest in ancient times; in fact, it was considered the truest of histories. But in the age of the Enlightenment, scholars began concerning themselves with the historical validity of the subjects they studied. This began the first wave of historical Jesus scholarship. At this time, various scholars became intent on discovering the historical Jesus, and began writing various works, presented as the life of Jesus. But these writings suffered from an integral flaw, which has infected historical Jesus scholarship until today. Rather than being works of discovery, they were truly projects. The Gilded And Progressive Eras Kailyn McComb History 1151 Professor Rob Denning Date Submitted Reforming America The gilded and progressive eras in America were times of expansion, urbanization, and what seemed like a golden pathway to an industrialized future. In the 1850s, railroads were being built all across America, and with that came the rise of the steel and oil industries, as well as dramatic population increases in the newly urbanized cities. Such a change in society created a gap between social classes causes incredible amounts of poverty for many, and incredible wealth for few. Three main struggles during this crucial time in America were political corruption, the rapid expansion of urban cities, and the unfair, and unsafe working conditions. Through these difficult times, many different types of reform were supported, but few were actually effective. One of the largest problems facing Americans during the gilded age and progressive era was political corruption. The late 1800s and early 1900s were filled with political machines such as George Plunkitt and James Gillespie Blaine. Plunkitt was known as the leader of Tammany Hall, an Irish based organization that was heavy in politics during the 19th century. Politicians affiliated with Tammany Hall would provide jobs, money or other favors and in return would receive government favors. Using P element Induced Male Recombination to Generate a Deletion in the DMAP1 Gene on Chromosome Two in Drosophila melanogaster Abstract: The goal of this study was to induce a deletion in the DMAP1 gene on chromosome two in Drosophila melanogaster through P element mobilization. The DMAP1 gene may be an essential gene, however not much is known about it. We attempted to uncover the function of DMAP1 by creating a series of genetic crosses and selecting for brown eyed non stubble male flies that may have the deletion. To test whether these flies had the deletion, we produced PCR products and ran them on an agarose gel, which resulted as inconclusive. We created a balanced stock of flies homozygous for the deletion to see if the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, wings clipped P elements that lack the inverted repeats (not able to be mobilized themselves), which are not internally deleted and can produce a transposase source, can be introduced to the internally deleted P element to provide transposase and therefore allow transposition to occur. The provided transposase recognizes and binds to inverted repeats on the internally deleted P element, which introduces nicks in the DNA beside the inverted repeats. This allows the element to excise and insert into a new location. If it excises neatly out of the DNA, a deletion will not occur. However, if it excises to a homologue towards the right or the left, due to an error in the excision process, a deletion will occur through this pre meiotic recombination event. This process of P element mobilization is the basis of how we directed recombination in male flies, and therefore the basis of generating deletions in the DMAP1 gene. We made several crosses that allowed P element mobilization to occur in male flies by crossing P element strains (non autonomous) to a transposase source, producing heterozygous flies containing a P element and a transposase source, and therefore allowing us to induce and detect male recombination events in progeny. The specific recombination event of interest is when the P element is mobilized towards the right onto a homologue, which may have induced a deletion in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. The Text Of The Meno By Plato In the text of the Meno by Plato, the dialogue develops and attempts to answer the question of what virtue is, and whether it is teachable. The paradox explained can be used to discuss merely anything, and we can thus say that either one knows or does not know. If a person knows, then they cannot investigate or question their knowledge. However, if a person does not know, they cannot inquire about it which means a person cannot question for not knowing what they do not know. Platogoes ahead and resolves the paradox in the Meno by saying that, one would not seek what he knows, for since he knows it there is no need of the inquiry, nor what he does not know, for in that case he does not even know what he is to look for. (Meno 80E) The Meno dialogue elaborates that in order to understand ways of finding the diagonal of a given square, a person needs to prompt knowledge that is concealed to the source. The Meno clearly states that knowledge is an essence to belief. Therefore, what matters and draws an ethical line between belief and knowledge is justification. If a person knows and believes, then it is not enough for one to justify it solely on those means. The Meno dialogue explains that in knowledge, a belief needs an account to tie it down and set a better example. The Platonic theory of forms that Plato raised relies on the belief that the forms or ideas and not the materialistic example or material is the highest most fundamental kind of reality. Perrin Remington College School of Nursing Post Operative Education to a Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Patient One of the scariest medical diagnoses a patient can receive from a physician is, their heart is not functioning properly. A malfunctioning heart will eventually lead to death if correction of the issue is not attempted. The heart supplies the entire body with oxygenated blood but also needs its own supply of oxygen rich blood. This is why coronary arteries are vital to the hearts ability to pump. A final option to correcting malfunctioning coronary arteries is a surgical procedure, coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Every year approximately 450,000 patients have CABG surgery in the United States (Mullen Fortino O Brien, 2008). Based on continuing healthcare trends, more and more people each year are having coronary artery issues, causing the need for CABG surgery to rise. Also patient demographics are changing, they are older, sicker, have more extensive coronary artery blockage / damage, and likely have poorer functioning ventricles of the heart (Sidebotham, McKee, Gillham Levy, 2007). The nursing profession has a critical role in caring for the patients but also teaching and educating them before and after any procedure. Similar debates are taking place in other schools across the US as students seek more liberal changes to their schools dress codes. The push is in response to recent changes made by some school boards, similar to public schools in Evanston, Illinois, which allowed students to wear anything, but the genitalia and the nipple of the breast must be covered, Psychology Today reported. Liberal dress code The result of the liberal dress code is many female students go to school wearing skintight leggings and a tight top that starts just above the breasts and ends above the belly button. It has been a clothing trend in more than 400 schools the past 16 years. The acceptance of such types of apparel for school has become so common when at the turn of the millennium, it would be unusual for a female teenager to attend class in a very short skirt and thin material made of mesh for her top, with undergarments visible under the mesh. Studies show that when girls frequently wear skintight leggings or a swimsuit (outside the pool), she is engaged in self objectification. The girl sees herself as an object of display for others.
