America s Inadvertent Empire By Robert Dujarric And...
The current overwhelming dominance of the unprecedented modern American empire in the realm of
world politics generally agreed upon by experts and scholars around the world. There is little to refute
the argument that there is any state that comes close to the strength of the Americans in a vast number
of areas, most notably economically and militarily. Present debate among experts in the field of
international relations revolves around whether the Americans can maintain their primacy for
upcoming generations. Robert Dujarric and William Odom, both experienced and respected scholars
of international relations, declare in their 2004 work, America s Inadvertent Empire, that America is in
a solid position to keep a tight hold on its place at the top. Vividly explaining America s path to
dominance while emphasizing the current state of domination, the authors effectively present the
abilities of the empire while also illustrating the potential threats that could bring it down.
No one was stopping the force of America s dominance that has characterized global affairs since
America s entrance into the world stage of great powers following its victories in the Spanish
American war of 1898 (Farrenkopf). Their incidental rise, partly due to country s many natural
advantages at its disposal, including large population and landmass, oceanic protection from Europe
and East Asia, natural resources and favorable climate, is largely credited by the authors to its liberal
institutions,

Li Fung
The goal of effective supply chain management is to gain competitive advantage through optimizing
flows within the enterprise . The Hong Kong listed company Li Fung Ltd represents one of the world s
best examples of achieving this goal. The company financial history clearly tells that story. Just last
year, L F saw profit attributable to shareholder increase by 23%. In fact, over the past 14 years, L F
has seen steady compound annual growth rate of 22%. Not bad performance for a small family
company that started in Guangzhou in 1906 trading silk and porcelain. In 1937, L F moved its
headquarters to one of the world s most efficient seaports, Hong Kong, a move that would have a
critical impact on their supply chain management. The L F ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

As outlined in the principles, a good IT network is central to L F s supply chain management success.
As early as 1995, the L F Fung brothers realized the growing importance of the internet in business
and established a company wide intranet linking critical company operations. A dedicated Extranet
links together all the key components of the supply chain to provide tracking capabilities, streamline
the flow of business information and provide much more granular control of supply chain activities.
Companies now strive to mimic L F by following the modern adage substitute information for
inventory . L F continues to leverage the power of the Internet, as customers demand more customized
product choices. According to the business magazine Asiaweek , mass customization is the company s
new strategy, meaning Li Fung can offer buyers a wide variety of choices and combinations of color,
size, and design for, say, a polo shirt and still speedily execute large orders. In 2002, L F started up
an entire business division focused on B2B sourcing via an internet e commerce website called
lifung.com linking small to medium sized businesses with suppliers similar in concept to alibaba.com.
L F leads the world in supplier sourcing as a true clicks and mortar pioneer .

Cultural Heritage And Cultural Culture
Cultural heritage is a testimony to reflect the distinctiveness of a place made by human (English
Heritage, 2009; United Nations of Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization World Heritage
Centre [WHC], 2008). According to Macau Cultural Affairs Bureau (n.d.), Macau has a wealth of
cultural heritage which illustrates the interchange between China and the West such as knowledge,
religions, and social trends. Thus, Macau is listed as Historic Centre of Macau in the World Heritage
List since there is a significant number of cultural heritage built in western style as well as local style
in China. (Macau Cultural Affairs Bureau, n.d.). In 2014, tourist arrival amounts to 31,525,632 and
total spending of visitors is MOP 61.75 billion (Documentation and Information Centre of Statistics
and Census Service, 2015). As a result, cultural tourism promotes the growth of the economy as the
well as the living environment. Therefore, the essay examines the importance of place identity in
heritage conservation and some benefits of cultural tourism. Then, it reflects some challenges in the
sustainability of heritage management. Finally, it explains how community engagement contributes
the viability of heritage conservation. Heritage conservation illustrates the place diversity of the place
which convinces the community to recognise their place identity. According to the World Heritage
Centre (2008), the preservation of heritage inspires people with creativity as well as innovation.

Creationism And Evolutionism
Creationism and Evolutionism Explaining Life
Imagining the whole world, it seems to be a sheet made of small pieces of different tissues. The
countless diversity of species existing in the world makes everyone think about how all species
appeared. So, some scholars became interested to explain how the species originated, and then they
began a diligent study around this topic. Consequently, some theories such as Creationism and
Evolutionism have arisen and started a big debate to highlight their ideas. Each theory has its own
beliefs, but separating them seems not to be the best way to get a full and coherent final explanation to
how species were originated. The gap between Creationism and Evolutionism lies in the fact that one
defends ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite the fact that most scientists look at Creationism as an unscientific theory, creationists take
their ideas seriously and have some strong sources of argumentation to support their assumptions.
Creationists support their ideas arguing that the living beings are so complex that they must have been
created by a higher being. Furthermore, the lack of clarity and failures found in others theories are
what most support Creationism. For example, some variations within a specie which are used as an
argument to prove evolutionists theories are sometimes also used by creationists as an argument to
contradict Evolutionism. According to creationists, variation in individuals characteristics within a
specie is possible and called microevolution, but these variations are never big enough to originate
another specie. What has never been scientifically demonstrated in spite of many examples of wishful
thinking is macro evolution, or the change from one distinct species to another. Dogs have never
evolved into birds or human beings. ( Microevolution... ) Even though Creationism have general ideas,
there are still subdivisions in this theory. Young Earth Creationism interprets the Bible (Genesis)
literally. This theory defends that the Earth and everything in it, including all species, were created by

Comparing Christianity, Judaism, And Islam
Christianity, Judaism and Islamic have many difference and similarities between them. The three top
things they all have in common is Supreme Being, Person of Jesus Christ, Ethics, and life after death,
they all believe that when you die you go to heaven or hell. but even though they all believe in that,
they believe in different ways of getting to heaven and how to get to hell. Christianity began in 33 CE
and was created out of the religion of Judaism. Christianity was founded on the life, and teaching of
Jesus Christ and the people who follow his belief are Christians . Judaism began in 7th century BCE
and was founded in the Middle East. Many Jews believe that Abraham was seen as the father of the
Jews and Moses was the founder of Judaism. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They read about this in the book of the Bible, which has the old and new testaments. The Bible is
inspired by the Word of God, and the do and don t about certain things and rules, and if you break
these rules, then you have to have your sins forgiven. They believe that Jesus died on the cross for
them to live a sinless life. Judaism has a bible just like Christianity. However, their Bible is a Hebrew
Bible or the old Testament in the Christian Bible. Which that would make Judaism The first religion
and Christian is based on Christianity. Their belief in Jesus is that he did the right thing and taught the
rule of how to live a sinless life. But their values were based on the Ten Commandments and at a
young age, they were always instructed to follow the Ten Commandments. Therefore, when they die,
they will go to heaven. The difference though between Christians and Jews is that Judaism is much
stricter than Christians being that Jews are based on the 10 Commandments, and Old Testaments and
Christianity was written by the new testaments. Islam believed that Jesus was sent by Allah to teach
children the Islamic prayer and when Jesus died (not on the cross) Allah took him to heaven to be with
him. They say that people who do not believe in the Islam prayer and rules will be punished, and they
will go to

Defining Intelligence Essay
Intelligence is defined by the American Heritage Dictionary as being the capacity to acquire and apply
knowledge. When knowledge is spoken of, it is generally used in terms of education. The extent of
education a person has achieved is then what most often determines how much knowledge one has
accumulated. Nevertheless, with this definition of intelligence in mind, one might possibly consider
the average person to be intelligent. After all, even a person who has never gone to school a day in
their life is capable of acquiring knowledge and applying it to some area of their life. Acquiring and
applying knowledge could be something as simple as being shown how to mop a floor and then
conducting the job using the newly gained know how.

Children, for instance, all have different areas in which they excel. A child who excels in school and is
listed on the honor roll each term would obviously be considered intelligent. However, a child who is
very talented in music but obtains bad marks in school might not be deemed a smart child by the
average person; nevertheless, this child would also be considered intelligent.
Once a person has an idea of what intelligence is and what it means, a final thought one might
consider is what influences are responsible for the different types of intellect. Two possible influences
are genetics and the environment in which one lives, with genetics being the strongest influence
(Santrock, 2009, pg. 302). Most researchers agree that a person s genetics and environment interact
with one another to influence the outcome of that person s intelligence (Santrock, 2009, pg. 302).
Genetic influences should be pretty obvious, so there should be no need to explain it; a person s
environment on the other hand, can involve several factors. An environment can consist of elements
such as a person s school, home, friendships, family relationships, and workplaces. All of these
components factor in to influence a person s intelligence.
In conclusion, I must say that intelligence can certainly be considered a broad word. It is a word that
has varying definitions depending on the source from which the definition comes. The reason for this
seems to be because people

The destruction of the Mongols across Afro Eurasia and the Black Death were the factors in which
prompted the creation of the three important Islamic states. The three newly formed empires were the
Ottomans, Safavids, and Mughals and they controlled regions from Southern Europe to the northern
part of India. According to Pollard, by the mid sixteenth century the Mughals controlled the northern
Indus river valley; the Safavids occupied Persia; and the Ottomans ruled Anatolia, the Arab, world,
and much of southern and eastern Europe, (Pollard, Pg. 391). The Ottoman Empire lasted the longest
of the three up until the early twentieth century due to their politics, religion tolerance, and develop of
commerce. The Ottoman Empire s politics were very clever to achieve rapid success because its
structure was based on adaptation and attractions. During Osman s reign, the sultan, the empire
adopted many ideologies from their adversaries to persuade people to joined their improved kingdom.
In the book, Pollard explains how, [ the Ottomans] transformed themselves from warrior bands
roaming the borderlands between Islamic and Christian worlds into rulers of a settled state..., (Pollard,
Pg. 392). They saw a clearer vision that their laying foundations was their military might and civilian
bureaucracy. Their strategy for territorial expansion across the continent was by attracting civilians to

Today, fifty odd years later, I sit on my porch alone, swinging gently in the morning. I can look out
over the yard. It looks just the same as the place were my most important moment of my life
happened. I ve kept it like that, so I never forgot. It s a large yard, that looks like a tiny meadow in a
forest. It s the height of summer right now, so all the trees are full and green. Just like it was then. I
remember the year of 1778. I was in my prime, the my early twenties. The Revolutionary War, my

I still doubt that it will ever change. As a reminder of those friends though, I planted a tree after the
war. It took months to get the seed, but it was important to me. I planted it at the edge of the small
forest on my land, where it looks just as out of place as it did all those years ago. The reason for this
was that during the years after, the old olive tree had died. So now, it sits in the same place as the old
one, maybe not quite as big, but and eternally sufficient reminder. And each day, I sit out on the porch
and listen to the birds in the tree sing, and watch them make their homes there.
Even now, as I sit here and remember this, I m sitting on the same wooden swing I ve sat for years,
looking at that olive tree. It is still the morning, and the birds are singing their waking songs in those
same trees by the olive. And deep in the olive tree, I see a flash of the white feathers It s been so long
since I saw. A flurry arises, and I watch the doves rise back into the sky. Twenty of them rising into ray

Industrialization in India
Need for Trend of Industrialization in India
What is Industry?
In its broadest sense, industry is any work that is undertaken for economic gain and that promotes
employment. The word may be applied to a wide range of activities, from farming to manufacturing
and tourism. It encompasses production at any scale, from the local sometimes known as cottage
industry to the multinational or transnational.
In a more restricted sense, industry refers to the production of goods, especially when that production
is accomplished with machines. It is this limited definition of industry that is embodied by the notion
of industrialization: the transition to an economy based on the large scale, machine assisted production
of goods by a concentrated, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ironically, de industrialization in the three countries mentioned above has been accompanied by a
growth in the high tech industries in areas such as the Côte d Azur in France; Silicon Valley in
California; and along the M4 motorway, around Cambridge, and in central Scotland the so called
Silicon Glen in the UK. The long term impact of de industrialization has yet to be felt. It may be the
speed of the process, rather than the process itself, that needs careful management.
Transnational Corporations
Probably the most significant industrial development since the 1960s has been the rise of the
multinational or transnational company. Examples of these companies, which operate in many
countries, are Ford, General Motors, IBM, Siemens, and Matsushita Electrical. United Nations (UN)
estimates that investment by transnational companies has risen by 13 per cent per year over the last 20
years, largely because more and more governments are accepting these firms into their countries.
Nevertheless, the growth of multinational corporations has raised a number of concerns. An enormous
amount of production power is concentrated in the hands of a few controllers, which means that the
countries involved become directly susceptible to economic changes in other parts of the world. The
transfer of assets from one country to another may be difficult for governments to manage or prevent,
and there are likely to be disparities in the treatment of different countries.

Guild (2001) says We... are products of external influences, especially within our immediate family,
extended community, and culture. This is important, as an educator, to keep in mind when teaching
ELL students. This is important to keep in mind when teaching children from other cultures, also. The
information I gained from reading and watching the learning resources in weeks two and three were
very valuable in observing the student I chose to observe.
The student I chose, J, is in a team member s class. He caught my attention at my school s academic

J coming from an uneducated, unprivileged background he has a sense of doing well in school will
give him an excellent chance at having a better life. Having this limited about of knowledge of his
culture I think the best way to get to know any student and their culture better is to talk and listen. You
can learn a lot from listening.
Before delving into my observations on J I want to first describe what his second language acquisition
stage is. Based on what I observed from his communication in class and his writing I have concluded
that he is stage three: the speech emergence stage. He can communicate in simple sentences, but when
he communicates in longer and complex sentences he makes grammatical mistakes. Although he has
been in the country for four years I feel his language development has been hindered by being pushed
along in school, never getting enough one on one instruction, and not enough ELL support in terms of
a teacher pulling him aside to help more often. In a more intense supportive environment I think he
would already be in stage four. Reed (2003) informs readers that having an understanding of ELL
students will dramatically improve the ability to understand and teach an ELL student more.
As I stated before J takes his education very important. His teacher told me that he almost always cries
on a daily basis when he feels like he did not do a good job. Although she said that I did not observe
that while I was in there. He

Due to the potential deadly nature of the Yellow Fever, it would be vital that people within the
community get vaccinated immediately after an outbreak happens. India is a highly populated area
with a generally warm climate. The environment in India would sustain the vectors necessary for
transmitting Yellow Fever, and the massive quantity of potential hosts could lead to a massive
outbreak. Businesses would be affected because travel into the outbreak area would slow down. The
local government would have to focus on the outbreak instead of other local issues. The local
government would have to report the case to the higher levels of government and thus relaying the
information to the World Health Organization. Hospitals would have to supply screening and
vaccinations to the citizens of the community. Patients would fill hospital beds until treatment is
finished, and this would lead to an overcrowding of patients in the hospital. Schools would have to
have ways of getting screening of students. Due to the students being close to one another throughout
the day, the students would need bug spray, and long sleeved shirts with pants. The school would have
to use money on resources such as screens for open windows and doors so that the vectors cannot get
into the classrooms. Prevention is key when discussing how to put a stop to outbreaks like yellow
fever. There are two main prevention strategies one should follow to avoid yellow fever. The first one
involves the use of personal protective measures to limit your exposure to the mosquitoes. Firstly, this
includes the use of insect repellent. The CDC recommends Environmental Protecting Agency

Kathleen Parker s Article, First Three Years Aren t That Critical
Did your mother read to you when you were six weeks old? Did she teach you how to do math
problems when you were two? Recently, I read an issue of Parenting Magazine and found an article on
child development. Kathleen Parker s article, First Three Years Aren t That Critical tells us that parents
today are putting to much emphasis on what the media and medical journals are saying, instead of
using common sense. The article emphasizes that parents are going overboard on these new studies
using good argumentative techniques. Although I found not all of what she said was accurate, I still

By acknowledging the other viewpoint, the author can still present her argument and not offend the
reader so much that they would quickly side against her. Using these techniques, the author effectively
attracts the readers attention and explains the main point of the rest of the article.
I noticed that in this article, Parker challenges the media s representation on the effectiveness of early
childhood development by stating that you should not change how you raise your child based on
trivial news articles. Parker lists sources: Newsweek, the Clintons, and books about early
development, as causes for parents to go overboard on developing their young children. The point that
Parker is trying to get across is that these articles are not reasons for society to change their parental
habits. The author is saying that the news articles can not prove one way or the other that teaching
your child early in life gives them the advantage. Just because an article says that in some cases child
development is effective, it doesn t mean that it is true or appropriate to change the way you are
teaching your two year old. Parker s technique is to debunk the idea of these sources, and to get the
reader to believe in her side.To further her persuasive article, the author wanted to show that the media
can not prove one way or the other that teaching your child early will affect how smart they become in
life. Parker mentions that Thomas Jefferson s

The Ruin
In The Anglo Saxons, Roman rule in Britain is said to have lasted from around 43 to 410 AD
(Campbell 8). After roughly 350 years, the Roman Britain era came to a full stop, only to be swiftly
overtaken by that of the Anglo Saxons this staunch ending is what a number of Anglo Saxon historians
attempt to convey, at least. In truth, power shifts in such nations are met with great complexity.
Despite the Anglo Saxon presence within the country, Britain was still rife with Roman infrastructure,
from pre existing roads to intact buildings. Not only were these constructions present, but they were
utilized for transit and trade, as well as recreationally. If infrastructure remained past the establishment
of Anglo Saxon power in Britain, cultural trends ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, the ease with which the text approaches the intermingling of Anglo Saxon and Roman culture
becomes blatantly apparent once considering the use of Latin loan words within The Ruin. When
considering the content of a poem, diction is often of the highest importance; by borrowing Latin amid
a poem which is primarily written in Old English, the wall between such cultures begin to crack. In
P.J. Frankis s article on diction in Anglo Saxon literature, he points to the a verse of the first line of
The Ruin, noting that the prefix of the word waelstan, or weal , is taken from Latin. He continues,
pointing to the word towers, or torras, another loan word (Frankis 225). The poet of The Ruin simply
may not have had the Old English translations for such words at their disposal. However, if these
Latin terms were purposely integrated into the text, they hold a vast amount of significance. The Ruin
literally joins Old English and Latin together in a closed space, forcing them to coexist in a state that
isn t divided by time. While Anglo Saxon constructs may frame the entirety of the text, the content of
the piece certainly has Roman influences scattered throughout. In light of the power of diction within
The Ruin, it is also worth looking at how culturally significant religious phrases and words are filtered

Nazi Human Experimentation
In 1933 1945, under Adolf Hitler, the National Socialist German Workers party detained political
control over Germany. Members of this group more commonly known as the Nazi party, wanted to
institute Germany as a dominant world power. They began by establishing a dictatorship over all
cultural, economic, and political activities of the people (Nazis). This would launch the beginning of
the Holocaust, a massive massacre of roughly 11 million Jews, Gypsies, homosexuals, Soviet
prisoners of war, mentally handicapped, and countless more (The Simon). Most of these deaths
occurred in concentration camps that developed all throughout Europe. In particular camps such as
Dachau, Auschwitz, Buchenwald, Ravensbruck, and Sachsenhausen, medical experiments were cold
heartedly performed on selected prisoners without consent and generally, concluded in death,
mutilation or permanent disability (Nazi Science). Schools all over America teach a broad history of
the Holocaust and the concentration camps to their students at some point in time. However, from
experience, I do not recall ever discussing these medical experiments or the Nuremberg Code that
resulted from them. The Nuremburg code was created just after the Nuremburg trials following WWII.

doctors, whom twenty three received charges with War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity as

America Is The Great Melting Pot
America is the great Melting Pot . From an early age every American is taught that America contains a
mixture of the world s cultures in a perfectly blended mixture. We honor and respect all cultures and
invite them to bring their customs here to the United States. But do we really? Take for instance, the
Hmong refugees who involuntarily moved to America. Cultural Assimilation seemed to be forced
down the refugees throats. Keeping their native customs was looked on with horror and disgust.
Cultural Assimilation is the process in which a person s and or groups culture comes to resemble that
of another group. When most immigrants come to the Untied States they are heavily advised to take
up English as their first language. You are advised to learn all about our government, how to drive,
and the value of individualism. The idea of the Great Melting Pot is completely ironic to me. It gives
the impression that we are all one big mixture of cultures. In reality the melting pot spreads thin all
other cultures, but the American culture. Other cultures seem to be lost and assimilated into American
ideologies and cultures. Cultural Assimilation for refugees and others, such as the Hmong can be
incredibly difficult and life threatening. Take the Lee Family, for example. The Lee family arrived in
the United States on December 18th in 1980. They left their country seeking political asylum and
ended up in the U.S. They experiences first hand how different life

A Comprehensive List Of Red Wines Essay
This is not intended to be a comprehensive list of red wines. Instead this post will discuss the four
popular red wines: Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Merlot. Also, this isn t a post about
how to choose a red, this is a post about its history, flavors and wine
Cabernet Sauvignon
The Cabernet Sauvignon grape is a small thick skinned blue purple grape with lots of seeds in
proportion to its size(A 150). There are two main reasons that Cabernet Sauvignon continues to thrill
our palates and table is its ability to adapt to soil and climate and its ability to resist plant viruses and
diseases (B 38). Two significant sites for Cabernet Sauvignon are Bordeaux, France and Napa Valley,
California (A 152). In France, the ancient gravel of Bordeaux holds heat which allows the vines to stay
warm while at the same time preventing the vine from truly thriving. It is the barely surviving that
makes the flavor so intense and produces the highly sought after fruit (A 152). In California s Napa
Valley it is the ability of the rocky and volcanic soil of the alluvial (fan??) to hold water and nutrients,
which creates the signature flavor (A 153). When it comes to bottling the Cabernet Sauvignon is rarely
bottled alone. In Bordeaux it is usually part of a team of red grapes that includes either Merlot and
Cabernet Franc, or Malbec, or and Petit Verdot(A 140). But as long as 75% of the wine is Cabernet
Sauvignon the label doesn t have to list the additional wines(A 141). Then the

Hosting the Dalai Lama means that Santa Clara University wants to have its students become leaders
with values. Values such as compassion, awareness, and intelligence will make a leader that not only
is well respected by coworkers but also trusted in their position of management. The Dalai Lama
teaches how important it is to have ethics and compassion engrained in a lifestyle and business world.
Students attending this seminar will be exposed to a new kind of knowledge allowing them to learn
how to work and lead effectively. I believe that Santa Clara University is making a mark on students
that goes beyond their college years or career. It realizes the importance that lies in technical
knowledge and life skills. Compassion is important to the corporate world because as the Dalai Lama
believes, it is a part of being human. Sometimes being human is not associated with business;
however, I think it s important for students to learn how to be compassionate. The importance of
compassion will allow workers to have more tolerance towards people and pay attention to the big
picture and let go of minor details so they work more efficiently towards their goal. Powerful and
compassion are often not thought about in a combination. The Dalai Lama is a living example of how
to put both of those qualities together. He is powerful in a respect that he has the influence to make a
large impact on the world yet he only uses his power to do good to his people.

Dolphins, cousins to whales, member of the family Delphinidae, and an animal that captures the heart
of anyone who sees one. This powerhouse of a marine mammal can swim at speeds of up to thirty five

Dolphins, like most all sea animals, have fins that help them to swim quickly and steadily. They have
three different types of fins on their bodies. They are called Pectoral Fins, a Dorsal Fin, and Flukes.
Pectoral Fins are to the dolphins what arms are to us. They are situated around where arms would be
on a dolphin and these fins help the dolphin to steer in the water. The Dorsal Fin is attached to the top
of the dolphin. This stabilizes the dolphin while it swims. Without it, the dolphin will roll upside down
or do a barrel roll every time it pumps its tail up and down. The Flukes are the fins on the Dolphin s
tail. They provide the thrust needed to swim forward. It may seem weird, but the bones in a Dolphin s
Pectoral Fin look like they were originally hands, so that must mean that the dolphin is descended
from land dwelling animals.
When a dolphin looks for and finds food, one question might come up. How can dolphins find out
where food is from so far away in cloudy water. The answer is the same as bats...Echolocation!
Echolocation is a series of high frequency clicks that they send out from an organ in their head called
the melon (not a honeydew or cantaloupe). The sounds travel through the water and when they hit
against something solid, the sound bounces back as an echo. The dolphin then picks up the sound in
its lower jaw. After the sound is picked up, it is sent to the Dolphin s middle ear, then to the inner ear,
and finally up to the

Ikea Global Sourcing Challenge Essay
Ikea Global Sourcing Challenge: Indian Rugs and Child Labor IKEA and Marianne Barner are facing
a very challenging issue. Because they were blind sided by the child labor issues with their supplier,
they had to scramble to respond to the issues in a quick and appropriate manner. IKEA sent a legal
team to Geneva to seek input and advice from the International Labor Organization on how to deal
with the problem and to find out more about the child labor issues. They also hired a third party agent

business goals as well as the organization goals; they need to learn how to make sure they are tied
together in the best possible way. Without the companies guidelines on code of conduct and possible
limitations, the employee can end up being confused and not know how to make the best possible
decisions. IKEA s corporate strategy comes directly from their vision statement To create a better
everyday life for the many people . There strategy was to provide a low cost product for their
customer. In order to achieve this goal they had a management process that stressed simplicity and
attention to detail, a willingness to assume responsibility and to help as evidenced by the

to the plate to try to monitor and maintain the relationship with their supplier. India is the largest

The Influence Of The Bobo Doll Experiment
In the contemporary world, there are several considerations regarding the impact of social influences
on the development and growth of a child s temperament and morality.
Television, computer games, food additives, music and the lack of role models are all cited as reasons
for a supposed breakdown in society, and an hyperbolic tendency towards violence.
These concerns have existed for several years, even before the media turned these factors into
sensationalist stories, to try and sell a lot ofnewspapers. During the 1960 s, there was a lot of concern
and dialogue regarding whether or not a child s development was right down tobiological science,

Self Esteem And Body Image
Everyone has dealt with self image issues at some point in their life. Whether it be for a small time or
for a lifetime, everyone can understand the feeling of disliking their appearance. Advertising has
created the ideal body and one that is not like the average body in today s society. With technology at
people s fingertips every second of the day, advertising is seen constantly. By advertising representing
only the thin bodies, men and women who don t look like that feel like they are not acceptable. Self
image is deeply rooted in our thoughts and feelings, but representing the average human in advertising
can create a bit of self acceptance. Self esteem is an issue that often begins in early childhood. Many
girls aged seven to twelve are at risk for developing low self esteem and body image. This puts them
at risk for other things, such as eating disorders, drinking, and bullying (Hartocollis). The girls who
are already developing low amounts of self esteem are already getting plastic surgery and wearing
Spanx to prevent being bullied even further or have a chance of raising their own self esteem
(Dockterman 1). The problem is that young girls are looking for self love in all the wrong places from
our parents, friends, and even strangers (Krauthammer). The thing about self esteem is it contains a
very important word: self. However self esteem is so often influenced by what other people s

Business Plan Proposal
Business Plan Proposal
Introduction
The development of start ups is an important business activity that requires effort, time, and financial
resources. It is important to correctly establish the resources that are required by opening a business in
order to be able to successfully reach the objectives established for businesses in each situation. In this
case, the business plan refers to developing a restaurant that focuses on providing meals that are based
on organic foods.
The benefits of organic foods are well known. There are numerous studies in the field that have
identified the benefits that organic foods have on individuals health. There are also numerous studies
that reveal the effects that fast food has on people. Certain governments in different companies
develop campaigns intended to increase awareness on such issues, and to modify the eating habits of
people in these countries. However, it is difficult to reach this objective when customers have
numerous fast food restaurants to choose from. These restaurants provide fast service at smaller prices,
and this is what most customers want.
Therefore, it is important that food providers participate in campaigns developed by governments in
their attempt to improve eating habits. Restaurants that provide healthy food have a better image on
the market in comparison with fast food restaurants. But health food is considered to be more
expensive. This refers to higher production costs, increased costs of

The Effect Of Advance Practice Nurses During The Community...
Abstract
Heart failure (HF) is a debilitating condition that has become a public health problem. There are many
debilitating effects of HF for many people that have to live with this disease. According to Hardin and
Hussey (2003), recognize inadequate patient education, poor symptom control, and insufficient social
support as factors that contribute to preventable HF related hospitalizations (p.p.74). Many people are
frequently hospitalized because of HF exacerbation related to lack of knowledge, poor quality of life
and medication non adherence. This research proposal determines the effect of Advance Practice
Nurse led telephone intervention in the community and how their phone calls would improve the
outcomes of patients with Heart Failure. This proposal identifies variables and measurement levels,
research methodology and conclusion. The results of the research studies will support the idea that
Advanced practice nurses has a positive impact on patients with HF, decreasing HF related hospital

Title Meaning in A Separate Peace
The title of the book, A Separate Peace is completely relevant to the story of the two boys Gene and
Phineas and their relationship. The title shows how the boys put themselves in completely different
realities, a separate peace. This first occurs when Gene manages to push Phineas out of the tree
causing him to shatter one of his legs. Phineas refuses to believe Gene, his best friend would
purposely hurt him. I don t know, I must have just lost my balance. It must have been that. I did have
this idea, this feeling that when you were standing there beside me, yー I don t know, I had a kind of

Both Gene and Phineas are confronted with the truth when Leper tells of what he saw on that frightful
day. He compares what he saw to an engine. I can t think of the name of the engine. But it has two

sinks. The one holding on to the trunk sank for a second, up and down like a psi on, and then the other
one sank and fell (Knowles 176). Phineas is finally confronted with the truth behind the incident and
that his best friend did in fact make him fall off the tree. Phineas is so overwhelmed after hearing this,
he falls down the stairs, which ends up being fatal. Then these separate sounds collided into the
general tumult of his body falling clumsily down the white marble stairs (Knowles 177). After the
death of Phineas, Gene attains ultimate peace and peace of mind as he gets older and understands
Phineas nonviolent nature. Only Phineas never was afraid, only Phineas never hated anyone (Knowles
204). After the death, Phineas himself also attains peace, with his heart at peace with Gene. Gene feels
very alone without Phineas. He no longer has his best friend and separate

An Analysis of the Arab League Essay
The Arab League: What Could Have Been But Never Was
Introduction
In an increasingly globalizing world, many problems that face humanity are of global concern and as
such, require international co operation in order to effectively combat issues such as terrorism and
nuclear disarmament (Karns Mingst. 2010). As a result, a rising need for global governance has
emerged in the realm of international relations and policy as states search for ways in which they can
manage their affairs (Karns Mingst. 2010)..
This has prompted many international and transnational organizations to be formed by both

2010). This, combined with the anarchic realm which is the international system, will lead to norms
and international law having minimal effect on the system and restraint of states (Karns Mingst.
2010). Realists view international organizations, as being able to increase or decrease state power but
not alter the power structure between states (Karns Mingst. 2010). They argue that it is only a
reflection of the power distribution amongst states and will never actually change or affect the
inherent anarchical nature of the system and the self interested nature of states and that states will also
abandon co operation if it will serve them more (Karns Mingst. 2010). . These two theories will be the
standards which the Arab League will be compared too as we shall explore the structural implications,
history and policies of the organization and the extent to which they conform with Realist and Liberal
assumptions on the effectiveness and relevance of international organizations in international
relations.

Jenny Lawson s Furiously Happy
The days I was caught in the storm of depression united me with Jenny Lawson s second book that
became my therapy for that period of time. It was recommended by a close friend who knew of the
challenges I faced in a haze of darkness. When she recited excerpts from the book, immediately, the
words changed from tangible squiggles to lived nights in distant insomnia.
On days I was unable to pull myself out of bed, I would read Furiously Happy while under my covers,
staring at the ceiling and dealing with the many voices that kept clawing and breaking each layer
down that built a fortress of self doubt and underwater volcanos of self loathing. Many people do not
understand these feelings that blossomed inside, and therefore bring their own selective perspectives
about mental illness devaluing my human in brain experiences. Explaining to them proved to be
harder.
While with a friend, I mentioned my experiences with depression and anxiety medication and her
response was that it was most definitely a placebo and that I should try and be more optimistic, words
have often heard. This not only invalidated my lived experiences, indirectly, she was calling me a liar.

Reflection Paper On Dance
As I reflect on my third semester at The University of Kentucky, I am reminded of how Ballet One, or
TAD 142, has impacted me as a dancer. I have discovered my strengths and grown in my skill, as well
as discovered areas that still need improvement.Initially, I found my interest in dance through my
passion in the performing arts, specifically color guard. My interest in dance pushed me to enroll in
two dance classes at my university, ballet one, as well as an additional course, introduction to dance.
In the future I plan on furthering my dance education by pursuing a minor in dance, that could
eventually effect my future job endeavors. Prior to this class, I spent seven years participating in color
guard. Each season of color guard required an audition. Looking back on each audition, I find a
pattern in the process, which later bled into my performance focus. With every audition and
performance, my priority was to take the spotlight. Once I knew every eye in the audience was on me,
I would do my best to make sure my face was telling the story. As I look back on these moments, I
realize that I no longer perform this way. I believe this change is explained simply by my confidence. I
do not feel as confident in my current dance classes as I was in color guard. Throughout my
experience in color guard I found happiness not only in the performance aspect but also in the body
and movement beneath the equipment. Rehearsal would typically begin with a stretching block,

wealthy man named Ned Merrill who decides to swim home to his wife Lucinda and two daughters
using a string of swimming pools. However, when he arrives home he comes to an empty house.
Using an in depth analysis, it is revealed that his journey is actually his decline in status, and effects of

Ned Merrill s wealth has stripped him of a purpose and as a result he finds thrills in distractions, such

Leadership is today`s most contreversial and commented topic. Do we really know what leadership is

work with an example to define the crisis we can liken a crisis to a virus placed into a weakened body
the effect on the body is inversely proportional to the power of constitution.

Nature or Nurture
Every human being is unique. Were we destined to be the way we are, or have we been made this way
through our environment and experiences? Psychology has long been debating the issue of Nature
versus Nurture. Characteristics such as hair and eye color are generally recognized to be controlled by
genetics. Those on the Nature side (Nativists) claim that genetics control much more, including
personality and character. Nurture backers (empiricists) will argue that a person s environment and

makeup and life experiences, are more sensitive to outside influences than others. People react
differently to the same external stress. We have all witnessed varied responses to the inconvenience of
being caught in a traffic jam, some people lay on the horn, others complain, and some just sit there
bopping to the tune on the radio. If a child is riding in that car, will they display the same behavior as
their parent, and if so is it because they learned it or were they passed a gene for that behavior? The
answer, according to recent studies, is it depends. A study by Lee, Brooks Gunn,
McLanahan,Notterman, and Garfinkel (2013) examined the effects that the 2007 2009 recession had
on the harshness of maternal parenting. They found that bad economic times had a stronger effect on
harsh parenting than improved conditions. They also noted mothers responses to adverse economic

Information On My Future Career
Recently, I have been using CFNC.org to gather more information on my future career. CFNC.org has
provided me with more knowledge about my future than I could have gotten using Google. One goal
of mine while writing this paper is to show how interested I am about my future. Another goal I do
have is to teach the reader more information about a specific career path. Every individual has their
own career plan, and possibly could be interested in the same career as me. In the CFNC.org website,
there are multiple surveys you can take to get a better feel for what type of career you might like.
During the Career Cluster Survey I honestly had a few difficult decisions. There are tons of questions
so you know your results should be accurate. At the end of your survey you will be shown a poll with
your results. Out of my results, my top three were Science, Technology, Engineering, and
Mathematics, Information Technology, and Business Management and Administration. The career I
probably should not go for would consist of Transportation, Distribution and Logistics. With my
results I plan to be a Computer Programmer. CFNC.org also has another survey I took, the Basic
Skills Survey. This survey allows for you to find your best life skills. In all the surveys are questions
that will better help you understand yourself. After you take this survey you will be provided another
poll with your results. I have received Mathematics, Active Listening and Learning Strategies as my

Interracial Marriages
Christianity Race is a religious based website dedicated to spreading the word of God based on the
teachings of the Bible. The authors value ethno nationalism and believe racial mixing is a sin. They
have an elaborate website that covers a wide array of topics and they back up their opinions with
quotes from religious texts as well as studies and research from several peer reviewed journals. They
use facts from the New Scientist and the Department of Health and Human Services. Their particular
concern is that there are fundamental religious and scientific objections to marriage between people
who are of different ethnicities. The concern stems from a primary concern for the well being of
potential children resulting from these unions.

They quote a study that states white females/black males have divorce rates 200% higher than white
females/white males (National Council on Family Relations, 2008). They follow this statistic with
provoking questions such as Would God have Christians encouraging risky marriages? These
intimidating questions discourage people from questioning data if they wish to remain connected with
their religious counterparts. The same study stated that divorce rates for all couples had increased and
that divorce rates depended on a variety of non racial factors. It concluded that age at marriage and
educational level had a greater impact on marriage dissolution. It also found that depending on the
race and gender of the couple involved, divorce rates varied as some interracial marriages had lower
rates of divorce than same race marriages. In the future, if the authors of Christianity Race wished to
scientifically prove the notion that interracial marriages will more likely result in marriage instability
and divorce, they should attempt to conduct surveys of same race and various different race couples of
the same age group, religion, and socioeconomic status and ask about their marriage satisfaction in a
neutral way. This study could be combined with or compared to more recent longitudinal studies
regarding different race couples. They should also consider which races and genders should be
included in the study or if all data collected would be categorized accordingly. By following these
suggestions, Christianity Race authors may report findings that indicate interracial marriage is
increasing in America and that depending on the race of the couple, divorce could be predicted at the
same rate as same race couples as shown in the aforementioned

Judah
Jacob was aware his life was coming to an end. Thankfully, the last seventeen years were spent with
his twelve sons and their families all together again, settled in the land of Egypt, in the region of
Goshen (Gen 47:27 28). He calls for his sons to come receive their blessings, and he predicts the
future for the twelve tribes that will be established through them. These prophecies give way to the
imminent manifestations throughout history of the twelve tribes of Israel. Jacob, also known as Israel,
gives Judah a special blessing and prophecy for his seed , especially compared to his other brothers
with the exception of Joseph. Judah s divine blessing from Israel foretells of the royal lineage, military

The kingship will remain with Judah, until the Messianic promise made to Abraham is finally known
in Jesus Christ (Gal 3:16).12 The concluding section of verse ten refers to the obedience of the people.
The broader view of this text would be the tribunal obedience of Israel to the royal family. However,
since Christ has come to earth and made known His rightful position, only those who chose to submit
to Him will be obedient (John 15:1 8). Yet, when He returns for the final time in His glory, at that
point, all will display humble obedience towards Him (Dan 7:27).13 Verse 11 The context of verse
eleven discloses the fact that there will be great financial prosperity and abundance during the reign of
the Messiah. It is made evident by tethering the donkey to productive vines allowing them to graze on
it without worry what damage it might cause the harvest. Also, the plentiful amount of wine being
present to wash clothes, in place of water. This illustration describes the coming of the millennial
kingdom (Isa 65:21 25).14 Also, the tribe of Judah, largest among the tribes at Moses census (Num

Why Should We Have Mandated Early Intervention And Early...
Alexis Smith

Final Exam
Why should we have mandated early intervention and early childhood education for children with
disabilities and their families? Provide a rationale for each. 8 pts.
The benefits of early intervention (EI) and early childhood education (ECE) are very clear. They help
improve children s skills, knowledge, and way of navigating the world while having some form of a
disability. EI is usually provided in the child s home, giving their family the opportunity to learn more
about their child and how to assist in creating a better life for him/her. It also gets the entire family
involved in the care of the child, which is important for parents who feel that they may not be able to
make a difference in their child s life or for parents who believe it is their fault that their child has a
disability. Through education and services provided, the family will be able to function as efficiently
as would a family who doesn t have a member with a disability.
Early childhood education is especially helpful for each individual child with a disability. It puts them
in a place of inclusion while improving their language and social skills and gives them a place outside
of the home to achieve goals that are more individualized and about them rather than their family.
Being in an inclusive environment with peers their age would increase their social skills and help them
to navigate the world around with less barriers. These skills

Organizational Theories Of Change Within Human Organizations
Introduction An Organizations ability to survive and manage change has become increasingly
important in an environment where globalization and competition are more intensifying. In the mid
20th century there has been increased attempts that apply to an organizational s theories of change
within human organizations. The first theory is concerned only with stability and equilibrium and the
control of negativity or feedback. Cao and Mchugh s (2005) system views many organizations as
interacting within the environment. The orgazational environment is set up of relationships that relate
to stakeholders or agents that factor beyond an organizations control. In dealing with a phenomena
comples, the syaste no longer sees the concept adequate.
This has led to the new theory which focuses on non equilibrium, instability and the emergence of
new structures and patterns. Systems are considered self organizing or evolving in the complexity
paradigm. Contemporary organizations are pervasive with change and interdepencies can be either
drawn between the public or private sectors where similar environmental challenges. Many of these
changes have taken place in the economic and political environment. In order to help understand the
changes the better the management process more effectively, a more comprehensive and dynamic
change of management is suggested. By intergrating systems theories, complexity, the fluid process of

Analysis Of The Book The Of By F. Scott Fitzgerald
Waknuk is the hometown of David, Petra and Rosalind; the three had to flee their home by night when
they got news of Sally and Katherine being captured. David and Petra left home and travelled down a
path to the riverbank, where they met up with Rosalind. For their travel they utilized two great horses
owned by Rosalind s father to go on their journey for safety. David, Petra and Rosalind travelled in a
southwesterly direction until they came to a stop in the early morning. The three started their journey
again in the late of the evening through the night in the same direction till they came to a stop in
Labrador, where Petra was sending letter shapes to the Sealand woman of their current location. They
continued on their journey until the break of dawn and then rested. Just after sunrise Michael informed
them that he and the search party were on their trail and they needed to get going. David, Petra and
Rosalind hustled their things together and made their way, continuing in a southwesterly direction into
Wild Country. They made another stop in Wild Country to eat. When it was a little darker they pushed
on towards the Fringes, until they were captured by the Fringes people and taken even further into the
Fringes. Eventually, the Sealand woman rescued David, Petra and Rosalind and they travelled to
Zealand via a flying craft that she had came in during the evening.

Disadvantages Of Yard Service
Homeowners and business owners will see many advantages when a florida keys lawn service can do
all the standard yard chores. There is also the time savings that will be seen when using any one of
many yard service professionals in the area. Many businesses that perform yard work often offers an
outstanding price. This is a great option for any homeowners who does not want to pay for gas to put
in a mower. Hiring a yard mowing service means that money will not need to be spent to purchase or

If there are issues with bare spots in a yard, then a maintenance service is able to make sure the ground
has enough seed and fertilizer for proper grass growth. Weeds and other common lawn problems will
also not be a concern. This means a homeowner does not need to waste the weekend trying to mow
the grass. Trusted companies that can adequately maintain the grass for a residential property can be
found using the Internet. Another option is to ask friends and family members or even co workers if
they know any local yard maintenance companies in the area. Contact can then be made by phone.
Individuals who are looking for a local lawn maintenance service can search online for information on
various websites. If a business does quality work, then customers should have good reviews to read on
local business related web pages. This is a great way to compare available options. The total price that
is paid for a this type of service is typically based on the size of a property or total area of the land.
Most homes may have between one half an acre and one or more acre in need of grass cutting. The
cost is often less than most homeowners may

Salvador Dali Face Of War Essay
Salvador Dali was a Spanish artist who drew some of the most gorgeous yet obscure paintings in the
world today. The nuances of his work express such great ideas that it is believed one could never
perfectly analyze one of his works of art. Sticking to this trend, The Face of War is a somewhat ugly
landscape painting with a moving meaning behind every stroke. The desert set painting features a
snake inundated, skull like face which was drawn to personify everything that war is. The subtleties in
the picture help describe this personification further, as it fleshes out the idea that war is an atrocious
and terrifying occurrence that leaves sheer agony in the wake of everything it touches. Those tortured
by such an event are left with permanent scars, whether it be in the form of the loss of their home,
morals, or even life. The backdrop for the work is a desolate desert which seems to extend completely
empty all the way until it meets the horizon. In the forefront of the image, a gaunt face which could
quickly be mistake for a skull extends from the top to the bottom of the canvas with a morbidly
distraught expression overcoming it. In the orifices where there should be eyes and a mouth, another
head appears in each, with this repeating for the openings of that face and so on until what seems to be
infinity. While each visage seems to resemble the last, it is notable that as they getter smaller and
smaller (sinking deeper into the picture), the faces seem to become more

The Significance Of The Scene In John Steinbeck s Of Mice...
In the novel Of Mice and Men, the scene represented in the diorama is when Lennie just got finished
having a vision about the giant rabbit declaring that George is going to abandon him all alone and then
scampered back into Lennie s brain as George is quietly approaching out of the brush. I consider this
scene that I created is significant to the novel because this is the scene to which Lennie passes away,
caused by George. Yes, the death of Curley s wife, due to Lennie s strength and nervousness, was
something major that lead to the cause of the occurrence, but in this scene, it is to which George s
thoughts were accurately correct in taking out Carlson s Luger and handling it well. In this diorama it

  • 2. America s Inadvertent Empire By Robert Dujarric And... The current overwhelming dominance of the unprecedented modern American empire in the realm of world politics generally agreed upon by experts and scholars around the world. There is little to refute the argument that there is any state that comes close to the strength of the Americans in a vast number of areas, most notably economically and militarily. Present debate among experts in the field of international relations revolves around whether the Americans can maintain their primacy for upcoming generations. Robert Dujarric and William Odom, both experienced and respected scholars of international relations, declare in their 2004 work, America s Inadvertent Empire, that America is in a solid position to keep a tight hold on its place at the top. Vividly explaining America s path to dominance while emphasizing the current state of domination, the authors effectively present the abilities of the empire while also illustrating the potential threats that could bring it down. No one was stopping the force of America s dominance that has characterized global affairs since America s entrance into the world stage of great powers following its victories in the Spanish American war of 1898 (Farrenkopf). Their incidental rise, partly due to country s many natural advantages at its disposal, including large population and landmass, oceanic protection from Europe and East Asia, natural resources and favorable climate, is largely credited by the authors to its liberal institutions, ... • 3. Li Fung The goal of effective supply chain management is to gain competitive advantage through optimizing flows within the enterprise . The Hong Kong listed company Li Fung Ltd represents one of the world s best examples of achieving this goal. The company financial history clearly tells that story. Just last year, L F saw profit attributable to shareholder increase by 23%. In fact, over the past 14 years, L F has seen steady compound annual growth rate of 22%. Not bad performance for a small family company that started in Guangzhou in 1906 trading silk and porcelain. In 1937, L F moved its headquarters to one of the world s most efficient seaports, Hong Kong, a move that would have a critical impact on their supply chain management. The L F ... According to the business magazine Asiaweek , mass customization is the company s new strategy, meaning Li Fung can offer buyers a wide variety of choices and combinations of color, size, and design for, say, a polo shirt and still speedily execute large orders. In 2002, L F started up an entire business division focused on B2B sourcing via an internet e commerce website called lifung.com linking small to medium sized businesses with suppliers similar in concept to alibaba.com. • 4. Cultural Heritage And Cultural Culture Cultural heritage is a testimony to reflect the distinctiveness of a place made by human (English Heritage, 2009; United Nations of Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization World Heritage Centre [WHC], 2008). According to Macau Cultural Affairs Bureau (n.d.), Macau has a wealth of cultural heritage which illustrates the interchange between China and the West such as knowledge, religions, and social trends. Thus, Macau is listed as Historic Centre of Macau in the World Heritage List since there is a significant number of cultural heritage built in western style as well as local style in China. (Macau Cultural Affairs Bureau, n.d.). In 2014, tourist arrival amounts to 31,525,632 and total spending of visitors is MOP 61.75 billion (Documentation and Information Centre of Statistics and Census Service, 2015). As a result, cultural tourism promotes the growth of the economy as the well as the living environment. Therefore, the essay examines the importance of place identity in heritage conservation and some benefits of cultural tourism. Then, it reflects some challenges in the sustainability of heritage management. Finally, it explains how community engagement contributes the viability of heritage conservation. Heritage conservation illustrates the place diversity of the place which convinces the community to recognise their place identity. According to the World Heritage Centre (2008), the preservation of heritage inspires people with creativity as well as innovation. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Creationism And Evolutionism Creationism and Evolutionism Explaining Life Imagining the whole world, it seems to be a sheet made of small pieces of different tissues. The countless diversity of species existing in the world makes everyone think about how all species appeared. So, some scholars became interested to explain how the species originated, and then they began a diligent study around this topic. Consequently, some theories such as Creationism and Evolutionism have arisen and started a big debate to highlight their ideas. Each theory has its own beliefs, but separating them seems not to be the best way to get a full and coherent final explanation to how species were originated. The gap between Creationism and Evolutionism lies in the fact that one defends ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite the fact that most scientists look at Creationism as an unscientific theory, creationists take their ideas seriously and have some strong sources of argumentation to support their assumptions. Creationists support their ideas arguing that the living beings are so complex that they must have been created by a higher being. Furthermore, the lack of clarity and failures found in others theories are what most support Creationism. For example, some variations within a specie which are used as an argument to prove evolutionists theories are sometimes also used by creationists as an argument to contradict Evolutionism. According to creationists, variation in individuals characteristics within a specie is possible and called microevolution, but these variations are never big enough to originate another specie. What has never been scientifically demonstrated in spite of many examples of wishful thinking is macro evolution, or the change from one distinct species to another. Dogs have never evolved into birds or human beings. ( Microevolution... ) Even though Creationism have general ideas, there are still subdivisions in this theory. Young Earth Creationism interprets the Bible (Genesis) literally. This theory defends that the Earth and everything in it, including all species, were created by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The three top things they all have in common is Supreme Being, Person of Jesus Christ, Ethics, and life after death, they all believe that when you die you go to heaven or hell. but even though they all believe in that, they believe in different ways of getting to heaven and how to get to hell. Christianity began in 33 CE and was created out of the religion of Judaism. Christianity was founded on the life, and teaching of Jesus Christ and the people who follow his belief are Christians . The Bible is inspired by the Word of God, and the do and don t about certain things and rules, and if you break these rules, then you have to have your sins forgiven. They believe that Jesus died on the cross for them to live a sinless life. Judaism has a bible just like Christianity. However, their Bible is a Hebrew Bible or the old Testament in the Christian Bible. Which that would make Judaism The first religion and Christian is based on Christianity. Their belief in Jesus is that he did the right thing and taught the rule of how to live a sinless life. But their values were based on the Ten Commandments and at a young age, they were always instructed to follow the Ten Commandments. Therefore, when they die, they will go to heaven. The difference though between Christians and Jews is that Judaism is much stricter than Christians being that Jews are based on the 10 Commandments, and Old Testaments and Christianity was written by the new testaments. • 7. Defining Intelligence Essay Intelligence is defined by the American Heritage Dictionary as being the capacity to acquire and apply knowledge. When knowledge is spoken of, it is generally used in terms of education. The extent of education a person has achieved is then what most often determines how much knowledge one has accumulated. Nevertheless, with this definition of intelligence in mind, one might possibly consider the average person to be intelligent. After all, even a person who has never gone to school a day in their life is capable of acquiring knowledge and applying it to some area of their life. Acquiring and applying knowledge could be something as simple as being shown how to mop a floor and then conducting the job using the newly gained know how. What ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Children, for instance, all have different areas in which they excel. A child who excels in school and is listed on the honor roll each term would obviously be considered intelligent. However, a child who is very talented in music but obtains bad marks in school might not be deemed a smart child by the average person; nevertheless, this child would also be considered intelligent. Once a person has an idea of what intelligence is and what it means, a final thought one might consider is what influences are responsible for the different types of intellect. Two possible influences are genetics and the environment in which one lives, with genetics being the strongest influence (Santrock, 2009, pg. 302). Most researchers agree that a person s genetics and environment interact with one another to influence the outcome of that person s intelligence (Santrock, 2009, pg. 302). Genetic influences should be pretty obvious, so there should be no need to explain it; a person s environment on the other hand, can involve several factors. An environment can consist of elements such as a person s school, home, friendships, family relationships, and workplaces. All of these components factor in to influence a person s intelligence. In conclusion, I must say that intelligence can certainly be considered a broad word. It is a word that has varying definitions depending on the source from which the definition comes. The reason for this seems to be because people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The destruction of the Mongols across Afro Eurasia and the Black Death were the factors in which prompted the creation of the three important Islamic states. The three newly formed empires were the Ottomans, Safavids, and Mughals and they controlled regions from Southern Europe to the northern part of India. According to Pollard, by the mid sixteenth century the Mughals controlled the northern Indus river valley; the Safavids occupied Persia; and the Ottomans ruled Anatolia, the Arab, world, and much of southern and eastern Europe, (Pollard, Pg. 391). The Ottoman Empire lasted the longest of the three up until the early twentieth century due to their politics, religion tolerance, and develop of commerce. The Ottoman Empire s politics were very clever to achieve rapid success because its structure was based on adaptation and attractions. During Osman s reign, the sultan, the empire adopted many ideologies from their adversaries to persuade people to joined their improved kingdom. In the book, Pollard explains how, [ the Ottomans] transformed themselves from warrior bands roaming the borderlands between Islamic and Christian worlds into rulers of a settled state..., (Pollard, Pg. 392). It s the height of summer right now, so all the trees are full and green. Just like it was then. I remember the year of 1778. I was in my prime, the my early twenties. I planted it at the edge of the small forest on my land, where it looks just as out of place as it did all those years ago. The reason for this was that during the years after, the old olive tree had died. So now, it sits in the same place as the old one, maybe not quite as big, but and eternally sufficient reminder. And each day, I sit out on the porch and listen to the birds in the tree sing, and watch them make their homes there. Even now, as I sit here and remember this, I m sitting on the same wooden swing I ve sat for years, looking at that olive tree. It is still the morning, and the birds are singing their waking songs in those same trees by the olive. And deep in the olive tree, I see a flash of the white feathers It s been so long since I saw. • 10. Industrialization in India Need for Trend of Industrialization in India What is Industry? In its broadest sense, industry is any work that is undertaken for economic gain and that promotes employment. The word may be applied to a wide range of activities, from farming to manufacturing and tourism. It encompasses production at any scale, from the local sometimes known as cottage industry to the multinational or transnational. In a more restricted sense, industry refers to the production of goods, especially when that production is accomplished with machines. It is this limited definition of industry that is embodied by the notion of industrialization: the transition to an economy based on the large scale, machine assisted production of goods by a concentrated, ... Ironically, de industrialization in the three countries mentioned above has been accompanied by a growth in the high tech industries in areas such as the Côte d Azur in France; Silicon Valley in California; and along the M4 motorway, around Cambridge, and in central Scotland the so called Silicon Glen in the UK. The long term impact of de industrialization has yet to be felt. It may be the speed of the process, rather than the process itself, that needs careful management. Transnational Corporations Probably the most significant industrial development since the 1960s has been the rise of the multinational or transnational company. Examples of these companies, which operate in many countries, are Ford, General Motors, IBM, Siemens, and Matsushita Electrical. United Nations (UN) estimates that investment by transnational companies has risen by 13 per cent per year over the last 20 years, largely because more and more governments are accepting these firms into their countries. Nevertheless, the growth of multinational corporations has raised a number of concerns. An enormous amount of production power is concentrated in the hands of a few controllers, which means that the countries involved become directly susceptible to economic changes in other parts of the world. The transfer of assets from one country to another may be difficult for governments to manage or prevent, and there are likely to be disparities in the treatment of different countries. This is important, as an educator, to keep in mind when teaching ELL students. This is important to keep in mind when teaching children from other cultures, also. The information I gained from reading and watching the learning resources in weeks two and three were very valuable in observing the student I chose to observe. The student I chose, J, is in a team member s class. He caught my attention at my school s academic fair. He is Mexican and was born in Mexico. J coming from an uneducated, unprivileged background he has a sense of doing well in school will give him an excellent chance at having a better life. Having this limited about of knowledge of his culture I think the best way to get to know any student and their culture better is to talk and listen. You can learn a lot from listening. Before delving into my observations on J I want to first describe what his second language acquisition stage is. Based on what I observed from his communication in class and his writing I have concluded that he is stage three: the speech emergence stage. He can communicate in simple sentences, but when he communicates in longer and complex sentences he makes grammatical mistakes. Although he has been in the country for four years I feel his language development has been hindered by being pushed along in school, never getting enough one on one instruction, and not enough ELL support in terms of a teacher pulling him aside to help more often. In a more intense supportive environment I think he would already be in stage four. Reed (2003) informs readers that having an understanding of ELL students will dramatically improve the ability to understand and teach an ELL student more. As I stated before J takes his education very important. His teacher told me that he almost always cries on a daily basis when he feels like he did not do a good job. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to the potential deadly nature of the Yellow Fever, it would be vital that people within the community get vaccinated immediately after an outbreak happens. India is a highly populated area with a generally warm climate. The environment in India would sustain the vectors necessary for transmitting Yellow Fever, and the massive quantity of potential hosts could lead to a massive outbreak. Businesses would be affected because travel into the outbreak area would slow down. The local government would have to focus on the outbreak instead of other local issues. The local government would have to report the case to the higher levels of government and thus relaying the information to the World Health Organization. Hospitals would have to supply screening and vaccinations to the citizens of the community. Patients would fill hospital beds until treatment is finished, and this would lead to an overcrowding of patients in the hospital. Schools would have to have ways of getting screening of students. Due to the students being close to one another throughout the day, the students would need bug spray, and long sleeved shirts with pants. Did she teach you how to do math problems when you were two? Recently, I read an issue of Parenting Magazine and found an article on child development. Kathleen Parker s article, First Three Years Aren t That Critical tells us that parents today are putting to much emphasis on what the media and medical journals are saying, instead of using common sense. The article emphasizes that parents are going overboard on these new studies using good argumentative techniques. By acknowledging the other viewpoint, the author can still present her argument and not offend the reader so much that they would quickly side against her. Using these techniques, the author effectively attracts the readers attention and explains the main point of the rest of the article. I noticed that in this article, Parker challenges the media s representation on the effectiveness of early childhood development by stating that you should not change how you raise your child based on trivial news articles. Parker lists sources: Newsweek, the Clintons, and books about early development, as causes for parents to go overboard on developing their young children. The point that Parker is trying to get across is that these articles are not reasons for society to change their parental habits. The author is saying that the news articles can not prove one way or the other that teaching your child early in life gives them the advantage. Just because an article says that in some cases child development is effective, it doesn t mean that it is true or appropriate to change the way you are teaching your two year old. Parker s technique is to debunk the idea of these sources, and to get the reader to believe in her side.To further her persuasive article, the author wanted to show that the media can not prove one way or the other that teaching your child early will affect how smart they become in life. After roughly 350 years, the Roman Britain era came to a full stop, only to be swiftly overtaken by that of the Anglo Saxons this staunch ending is what a number of Anglo Saxon historians attempt to convey, at least. In truth, power shifts in such nations are met with great complexity. Despite the Anglo Saxon presence within the country, Britain was still rife with Roman infrastructure, from pre existing roads to intact buildings. Not only were these constructions present, but they were utilized for transit and trade, as well as recreationally. If infrastructure remained past the establishment of Anglo Saxon power in Britain, cultural trends ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, the ease with which the text approaches the intermingling of Anglo Saxon and Roman culture becomes blatantly apparent once considering the use of Latin loan words within The Ruin. When considering the content of a poem, diction is often of the highest importance; by borrowing Latin amid a poem which is primarily written in Old English, the wall between such cultures begin to crack. In P.J. Frankis s article on diction in Anglo Saxon literature, he points to the a verse of the first line of The Ruin, noting that the prefix of the word waelstan, or weal , is taken from Latin. He continues, pointing to the word towers, or torras, another loan word (Frankis 225). The poet of The Ruin simply may not have had the Old English translations for such words at their disposal. However, if these Latin terms were purposely integrated into the text, they hold a vast amount of significance. The Ruin literally joins Old English and Latin together in a closed space, forcing them to coexist in a state that isn t divided by time. While Anglo Saxon constructs may frame the entirety of the text, the content of the piece certainly has Roman influences scattered throughout. In light of the power of diction within The Ruin, it is also worth looking at how culturally significant religious phrases and words are filtered through the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Members of this group more commonly known as the Nazi party, wanted to institute Germany as a dominant world power. They began by establishing a dictatorship over all cultural, economic, and political activities of the people (Nazis). This would launch the beginning of the Holocaust, a massive massacre of roughly 11 million Jews, Gypsies, homosexuals, Soviet prisoners of war, mentally handicapped, and countless more (The Simon). Most of these deaths occurred in concentration camps that developed all throughout Europe. In particular camps such as Dachau, Auschwitz, Buchenwald, Ravensbruck, and Sachsenhausen, medical experiments were cold heartedly performed on selected prisoners without consent and generally, concluded in death, mutilation or permanent disability (Nazi Science). Schools all over America teach a broad history of the Holocaust and the concentration camps to their students at some point in time. However, from experience, I do not recall ever discussing these medical experiments or the Nuremberg Code that resulted from them. From an early age every American is taught that America contains a mixture of the world s cultures in a perfectly blended mixture. We honor and respect all cultures and invite them to bring their customs here to the United States. But do we really? Take for instance, the Hmong refugees who involuntarily moved to America. Cultural Assimilation seemed to be forced down the refugees throats. Keeping their native customs was looked on with horror and disgust. Cultural Assimilation is the process in which a person s and or groups culture comes to resemble that of another group. When most immigrants come to the Untied States they are heavily advised to take up English as their first language. You are advised to learn all about our government, how to drive, and the value of individualism. The idea of the Great Melting Pot is completely ironic to me. It gives the impression that we are all one big mixture of cultures. In reality the melting pot spreads thin all other cultures, but the American culture. Other cultures seem to be lost and assimilated into American ideologies and cultures. Cultural Assimilation for refugees and others, such as the Hmong can be incredibly difficult and life threatening. Take the Lee Family, for example. Instead this post will discuss the four popular red wines: Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Merlot. Also, this isn t a post about how to choose a red, this is a post about its history, flavors and wine Cabernet Sauvignon The Cabernet Sauvignon grape is a small thick skinned blue purple grape with lots of seeds in proportion to its size(A 150). There are two main reasons that Cabernet Sauvignon continues to thrill our palates and table is its ability to adapt to soil and climate and its ability to resist plant viruses and diseases (B 38). Two significant sites for Cabernet Sauvignon are Bordeaux, France and Napa Valley, California (A 152). In France, the ancient gravel of Bordeaux holds heat which allows the vines to stay warm while at the same time preventing the vine from truly thriving. It is the barely surviving that makes the flavor so intense and produces the highly sought after fruit (A 152). In California s Napa Valley it is the ability of the rocky and volcanic soil of the alluvial (fan??) to hold water and nutrients, which creates the signature flavor (A 153). When it comes to bottling the Cabernet Sauvignon is rarely bottled alone. In Bordeaux it is usually part of a team of red grapes that includes either Merlot and Cabernet Franc, or Malbec, or and Petit Verdot(A 140). But as long as 75% of the wine is Cabernet Sauvignon the label doesn t have to list the additional wines(A 141). Then the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They are called Pectoral Fins, a Dorsal Fin, and Flukes. Pectoral Fins are to the dolphins what arms are to us. They are situated around where arms would be on a dolphin and these fins help the dolphin to steer in the water. The Dorsal Fin is attached to the top of the dolphin. This stabilizes the dolphin while it swims. Without it, the dolphin will roll upside down or do a barrel roll every time it pumps its tail up and down. The Flukes are the fins on the Dolphin s tail. They provide the thrust needed to swim forward. It may seem weird, but the bones in a Dolphin s Pectoral Fin look like they were originally hands, so that must mean that the dolphin is descended from land dwelling animals. • 34. Reflection Paper On Dance As I reflect on my third semester at The University of Kentucky, I am reminded of how Ballet One, or TAD 142, has impacted me as a dancer. I have discovered my strengths and grown in my skill, as well as discovered areas that still need improvement.Initially, I found my interest in dance through my passion in the performing arts, specifically color guard. My interest in dance pushed me to enroll in two dance classes at my university, ballet one, as well as an additional course, introduction to dance. In the future I plan on furthering my dance education by pursuing a minor in dance, that could eventually effect my future job endeavors. Prior to this class, I spent seven years participating in color guard. Each season of color guard required an audition. Looking back on each audition, I find a pattern in the process, which later bled into my performance focus. With every audition and performance, my priority was to take the spotlight. Once I knew every eye in the audience was on me, I would do my best to make sure my face was telling the story. As I look back on these moments, I realize that I no longer perform this way. I believe this change is explained simply by my confidence. I do not feel as confident in my current dance classes as I was in color guard. Throughout my experience in color guard I found happiness not only in the performance aspect but also in the body and movement beneath the equipment. Rehearsal would typically begin with a stretching block, followed by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Those on the Nature side (Nativists) claim that genetics control much more, including personality and character. Nurture backers (empiricists) will argue that a person s environment and experiences determine those traits. So is it possible to prove which side is right? Alexis Smith Professor Lehr SE 504 25 October 2016 Final Exam Why should we have mandated early intervention and early childhood education for children with disabilities and their families? Provide a rationale for each. 8 pts. The benefits of early intervention (EI) and early childhood education (ECE) are very clear. They help improve children s skills, knowledge, and way of navigating the world while having some form of a disability. EI is usually provided in the child s home, giving their family the opportunity to learn more about their child and how to assist in creating a better life for him/her. It also gets the entire family involved in the care of the child, which is important for parents who feel that they may not be able to make a difference in their child s life or for parents who believe it is their fault that their child has a disability. Through education and services provided, the family will be able to function as efficiently as would a family who doesn t have a member with a disability. Early childhood education is especially helpful for each individual child with a disability. It puts them in a place of inclusion while improving their language and social skills and gives them a place outside of the home to achieve goals that are more individualized and about them rather than their family. Sticking to this trend, The Face of War is a somewhat ugly landscape painting with a moving meaning behind every stroke. The desert set painting features a snake inundated, skull like face which was drawn to personify everything that war is.
