Vibrio Natriegen s Generation Time
Title: Vibrio natriegens s generation time and optimal growth environment using a Closed Growth
System.
Abstract: The objective of this experiment is to find out what the optimal growth environment is for V.
natriegens out of three different environments. The first is a Brain Heart Infusion broth (BHI) that
contains 50 mM of NaCl. The second is BHI containing 250 mM of NaCl. The third is BHI containing
1000 mM NaCl. In order to obtain this, a growth curve graph must be constructed for each different
environment, and the generation time of the bacteria in each environment must be calculated. The
optimal environment for V. natriegens was found to be the BHI with 250 mM of NaCl.
Introduction: The type environment that bacteria live ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is the y value posted in the upper right hand corner. The following data was obtained from the
Closed System Growth experiment:
As shown in the figure above, it is evident that V.natriegens grew faster when the Brain Heart Infusion
(BHI) broth contained 250mM NaCl. The # of bacterial cells at each time point was measured
following the equation given in the How to generate a bacterial growth curve supplemental material
posted on D2L. (2) The data was then recorded in the table listed above. A growth curve graph was
constructed using the data above which illustrated the differences between each of the different BHI
mixtures. The graph was then used to determine the generation time of V.natriegens for each different
environmental condition. In order to calculate the generation time (g) the mean growth rate (k) must
be calculated. The formula to do this is posted in the supplemental material How to generate a
bacterial growth curve on D2L. The k value calculated for each condition goes as follows:
At 50 mM NaCl k= 2.2 generations per hour
At 250 mM NaCl k= 4.7 generations per hour
At 1000 mM NaCl k= 3.2 generations per hour
The generation time for each condition goes as follows:
At 50 mM NaCl g= .45 hours per generation
At 250 mM NaCl g= .21 hours per generation
At 1000 mM NaCl g= .31 hours per generation
With all of these calculations the environment that is optimal for V. natriegens was determined.

What Is Ernest Hemingway Code Hero
Each person has their own perception of what a hero is. Ernest Hemingway has a specific set of
guidelines to identify who is a hero and who isn t: Code Hero. Hemingway s code entails following
the ideals of honor, courage and endurance in a world that is sometimes chaotic, often stressful, and
always painful. Two characters, each written by Ernest Hemingway and John Steinbeck, respectively,
both demonstrate and fall short of Hemingway s standard. Santiago, of Ernest Hemingway s Old Man
and the Sea, fits the code in his perseverance through the hardships he endures while fishing, and even
though Santiago was written by the creator of Code Hero, fails to reflect it in his impatience. John
Steinbeck s George Milton in Of Mice and Men, though ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Santiago brought his trouble onto himself all because he was not able to go more than 84 days without
catching fish, violating one of the guidelines of Code Hero: endurance. All of Santiago s motives were
also all for himself, which one could argue shows an inferior way of being a hero. A selfless hero is a
better hero, just as George Milton shows. All of George s motives were to keep Lennie safe and give
him the best and happiest life he could. George was persevering and courageous enough to do all it
would take, including sacrificing his mental state to put Lennie out of his misery. Everything George
did was all hero and no coward, and none of it was done for his own benefit, while santiago s heroism
was brought upon by cowardice, and it was all self motivated, decidedly making George the best hero

Essay on The Mallee Region of Victoria
The Mallee Region of Victoria
Location and Contents:
The Mallee region of Victoria is situated in North West Victoria and covers an area of around 44,000
square kilometres. The region is known to be associated with the adjacent land of South Australia and
New South Wales and is also recognised to join with the Wimmera and Loddon regions of Victoria.
Also, because of the large area which the region covers and the diversity it beholds, it is sometimes
distinguished into two sub regions, the north and the south. Whilst 38% of the land is occupied by the
public, only 1% of the remaining 62% is protected from grazing animals and only 3.04% retains
native vegetation. ????????

Hydrosol is a very wet kind of soil and is saturated for the majority of the year, often located where
former lake beds occur. Sudosol is more sodic than acidic, it is a Texture Contrast Soil and therefore
there is a strong contrast between the surface and the subsoil. This is the most common type of soil in
the Mallee region. Vertosols are soils which grow and shrink, causing cracking when the soil dries out.
They occur along the creek and river beds as well as the broad plains of the Mallee. Along the
coastlines of the Mallee are Calcarosol soils, they, unlike Sudosols and Vertosols, do not have a strong
texture contrast throughout its layers. Lastly, two sandy soils have been identified in the Mallee
region: Rudosol and Tenosol. Rudosols are very young and undeveloped soils and are widespread in
the Big Desert and Sunset Country. Tenosols are also rather undeveloped and occur in the same areas
as Rudosols. Tenosols generally have a low water holding capacity and fertility . Having a vast
selection of soils can only mean that a vast selection of produce comes from the area.
Product information:
A large array of products are grown in the north west of Victoria. Some common fruits and vegetables
which come from the Mallee are grapes (74% of Victoria s table grapes and 98% of its dried grapes),
almonds and carrots, to name a few. Insterestingly, 20% of the almonds grown in the Mallee are
transported to Asia and Europe. HOW IS THE PRODUCE GROWN IN THE

The Birth Control Pill
According to the Oxford American College Dictionary, power is the capacity or ability to direct or
influence the behavior of others or the course of events. In order to gain the most power humanly
possibly you do not have to be remembered, your action needs to be remembered. Power is the ability
to help others benefit out of an action. If given the opportunity to go back in time to irrevocably alter
the future, I would take the opportunity to invent the birth control pill in advance of time. During
World War II U.S. soldiers were supplied with condoms, another way of birth control, however it s
less effective than other methods we have now, such as the pill. Harvard historian Allan Brandt wrote

From 1955 1965, 42% of Americans of reproductive age relied on condoms for birth control. In
Britain from 1950 1960, 60% of married couples used condoms (Condoms and Sponges). Although
the idea of this pill was before World War II, the pill was made available to the public in 1960. If those
using condoms were aware of the stronger ability the pill had over the condom, the pill would have all
power. Condom selling companies would try to overpower us with their promotion during World War
II but to prevent that we would use propaganda and allow the public to see statics of being
impregnated using these two methods. Although the FDA or allied soldiers would want to ban this pill,
mass pills would be made and distributed to all locals.
Some benefits of providing women with the pill would be less suffrage of children of unplanned
pregnancies. The greater use of the pill and evidence showing it works would possibly lead to a
different population throughout the world. The pill would definitely be not expensive to provide for
all.
Inventing the birth control pill before it was approved by the FDA and during a time necessary would
gain me the most power humanly possibly: not because I, myself am powerful, but because that tiny

each of you if you were able to go an entire day without your mobile device, very few can say they`d
be able to do so. In fact, in a recent TIME Magazine Mobility Poll, 84% out of 5000 people surveyed
in 8 different countires, admitted that they couldn t go a single day without their phones and a third of
respondents admitted that being without their mobile device for even short periods of time leaves them

that important? The sad truth is that we have become far too dependent on our phones. The fear that
we might miss the latest gossip, or the most recent updates on all of our social webesites seems more
like an addiction than anything else. We`ve clouded our vision as to what is really important, and that

Essay On Chesapeake My Hometown
I have lived in Chesapeake since five years of age. I have no recollections of previous areas I have
lived in, so I consider Chesapeake my hometown. The most I know about Chesapeake is in reference
to the Chesapeake Bay and local attractions in my area. Through researching the the following
information about my city I have learned about more than just local attractions, but how it plays a role
in my public health and the health of the communities surrounding Indian River.
Chesapeake, Virginia was formed on January 1, 1963 due to a merger of South Norfolk and Norfolk
County. Chesapeake is a part of the Hampton Roads area which includes Norfolk, Virginia Beach,
Portsmouth, Newport News, Hampton and Suffolk. Chesapeake consists of many small communities:
South Norfolk, Great Bridge, Pleasant Grove, Oak Grove, Hickory, Deep Creek, Western Branch,
Indian River, and a couple others. Chesapeake is also recognized as the second largest city in Virginia
and the tenth largest city in the United States as of 2012, having acquired 353 square miles. According
to Motovo unknown facts, two thirds of the United States population lives within seven hundred and

Unpaid Interns, Complicit Colleges
Students aspire to have a successful job after graduating college. Many of them sign up for internships
hoping that it would help them with their chosen professions. I define an internship as a temporary
position that emphasizes on on the job training, which can either be paid or unpaid. Students sign up
for an internship to gain experience for their future career. In his article, Unpaid Interns, Complicit
Colleges , author Ross Perlin reveals that colleges have taken advantage of student through the school
s administration of the internship programs. This paper will analyze the main argument and four
pieces of evidence in order to evaluate the strength of the argument. The author argues that schools
have unfairly made unpaid internships ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He states, Three quarters of the 10 million students enrolled in America s four year colleges and
universities will work as interns at least once before graduating ... Between one third and half will get
no compensation for their efforts (499 500). This evidence is relevant since it clearly supports the
author s claim that colleges allow unpaid internship. This may not necessarily imply that the colleges
are bad, but this clearly shows the high occurrence of such cases. It shows the high number of students
who do not get paid while working as interns. The information was taken from established research
institutes, therefore the evidence is credible. The College Employment Research Institute conducts an
annual survey of national employers seeking their intentions for hiring new college graduates (
College Employment Research Institute at Michigan State University ), while the Intern Bridge is the
nation s premier college recruiting, consulting and research firm (http://www.internbridge.com/).
However, there was no information about the date when the statistic was taken or when the study was
performed, and this made the evidence less sufficient. The evidence will be more sufficient if the date
was mentioned and if it was current. Again, this evidence is addressed to students to present them with
details about unpaid internship and be cautious when considering internship in their

Ethics And Its Branches Of Ethics
Ethics and Its Types/Branches:
Ethics or moral philosophy is the branch of philosophy that involves systematizing, defending, and
recommending concepts of right and wrong conduct.
Branches of the Philosophical Study of Ethics are:
There are many branches of ethics, some are discussed,

2. Meta Ethics (What does right even mean?)
3. Applied Ethics (How do we take moral knowledge and put it into practice?)
4. Descriptive ethics (What do people think is right?)

Computer Ethics
Computer Ethics is a part of practical philosophy which concern with how computing professionals
should make decisions regarding professional and social conduct. Margaret Anne Pierce, a professor
in the Department of Mathematics and Computers at Georgia Southern University has categorized the
ethical decisions related to computer technology and usage into 3 primary influences:
1. The individual s own personal code.
2. Any informal code of ethical conduct that exists in the work place.
3. Exposure to formal codes of ethics.
History: The concept of computer ethics originated in the 1940s with MIT professor Norbert Wiener.
While working on anti aircraft artillery during World War II.
In 1973, the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) adopted its first code of ethics.[1] SRI
International s Donn Parker,[5] an author on computer crimes, led the committee that developed the
code.
In 1976, medical teacher and researcher, Walter Maner noticed that ethical decisions are much harder
to make when computers are added. He noticed a need for a different branch of ethics for when it
came to dealing with computers. The term computer ethics was thus

Thoughts Of The Asian Crisis
Term Paper Thoughts of the Asian Crisis (1997 1998) In the period between 1997 to 1998, a great
economic storm blew the some fast developing countries, especially Thailand, Indonesia and
Malaysia. They had great economic development before the crisis, but left almost everything at the
end of the storm. The most obvious impact of the crisis is the capital outflows and currency
devaluation. So, people in those developing countries began to find who should be responding to the
crisis. International speculators were appropriate targets to be blamed due to their actives during the
crisis. The President of Indonesia, Suharto, even claimed There are [parties] trying to engineer the fall
of the rupiah to the 20,000 level [against the dollar]. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Only blaming speculators for the past experience is not appropriate: the East Asian economic
structure, fiscal policy of responding the crisis and political structure possibly played more significant
roles on aggrandizing this crisis. Admittedly, the active speculators capital operation is the catalyze of
the crisis: before the crisis, those 3 Asian countries are quite similar: All of them just endure a great
economic progress for the recession of Japan in the early 1990s. The rate of export was gradually
carrying a higher weight; the real GDP had more than 8 percentage annual growths constantly.
(DeRosa 85) Also, they had a quick credit expansion for wooing the global capital for investment. As
for the section of currency exchange, Thailand and Indonesia held the peg to the U.S dollar. Malaysia
is little bit different: it did hold float exchange rate but that is essentially a sort of dirty float which
means the government will influence the direction of exchange rate frequently to keep the exchange
rate in a certain range. In anyway, those three countries tried to use relatively sturdy currency policy
and quickly increasing economic environment to attract international capital. Admittedly, this function
fairly functioning before the crisis, but there are some potential problems are still unsolved which
made their economy not as sturdy as those countries thought

African Americans in World War Ii
For many African Americans, the war offered an opportunity to get out of the cycle of crushing rural
poverty. Black joined the military in large numbers, escaping a decade of Depression and tenant
farming in the South and Midwest. Yet, like the rest of America in the 1940s, the armed forces were
segregated. The Army accepted black enlistees but created separate black infantry regiments and
assigned white commanders to them. Of the more than 2.5 million African Americans who registered
for the draft in WWII, about 900,000 served in the Army. But about only 50,000 African Americans
were allowed to serve in combat. African American soldiers and civilians fought a two front battle

For at least one serviceman from Wichita, Kansas, the irony of being asked to die for a country that
denied him basic civil rights was too much. James Thompson wrote to the Pittsburg Courier, and
asked Should I sacrifice to live half American? The newspaper responded by calling for a Double V
campaign. The campaign borrowed on the well known two finger V for Victory salute from Winston
Churchill. The paper proclaimed that blacks should work for the victory of democracy both at home
and abroad. The Double V campaign caught on. Civil rights leaders such as A. Philip Randolph saw
the unique situation created by World War II and the acute need for workers as an opportunity to
demand equality. In 1941 Randolph threatened President Roosevelt with a 100,000 person march on
Washington, D.C., to protest job discrimination. In response, Roosevelt issued Executive Order 8802,
prohibiting discrimination in defense jobs or the government. On the home front, the U.S. government
desperately needed workers to fill newly created defense jobs and factory positions left open by
soldiers who had left to fight. More than two million African Americans went to work for defense
plants, and another two million joined the federal civil service. As these new opportunities drew more
and more African Americans into cities, they opened the way for economic mobility. As the war
dragged on, it affected American society at nearly every level. It shook up

The Similarities and Differences between American Federalism and Indian Federalism
Being the largest democratic countries in the world, both United States and India are based on
federalism in their political structure. US became a Federal Republic State by promulgating its
constitution in the year1789; whereas India became a Socialist, Sovereign, Secular, Democratic
Republic by formally launching its constitution only in the year 1950.Thereby both countries had

5)Powers of Checks and Balances:
Though there exists a clear cut division of labor known as separation of powers into executive,
legislature and judiciary in both countries, still there is a threat. to democracy. A strong and dynamic
leadership at the helm of powers as the executive and acting with unlimited powers may lead to
arbitrariness. After all power corrupts power; absolute power corrupts absolutely; in the result
democracy may become a laughing stock and virtually unworkable. Hence, in order to prevent
unwieldy growth of any one of these three divisions, a fantastic mechanism known as powers of
checks and balances has been maintained in both countries. In other words, each division of power is
somehow or other checked and controlled by other divisions of power.
In the US, the President as the chief executive power appoints his members of Kitchen Cabinet and he
is the Supreme Commander in Chief of Army,Navy and the Air Force. He appoints the Chief Justice of
the Supreme Court of the US. He enters into treaties with other countries. However, his treaties must
be approved by the House of Senate.Otherwise, the treaty will not come into force. Though President
Woodrow Wilson was the chief architect of the League of Nations that came into being after the first
world war,US could not become a member of it since the House of Senate did not approve it.Thus
important policy decisions must be necessarily approved by the House of Senate, which

14000 Military Job Opportunities For Women Essay
The Defense Department recently announced new policies that will open more than 14,000 military
job opportunities to women. Which seems like a great step except that more than 200,000 positions
will still remain exclusive to men, from front line infantry positions to high level special operations
roles. States Dani Moritz from The Muse. (Mortiz) Women have been thrown out of spotlight when it
came to genuine positions. Does this shout disparity for women, as well as stereotyping and it for the
most part tosses women s rights ideal out of the window?
Women began to climb the ladder and finally became equal to men, well almost. Women s rights
include, but is not limited to positions that any man can hold, promotions that were not allowed
beforehand last but not least socially and legal equality. As women, we can t continue to yell
inequality when we are not on the same playing field as men. We, women, have more leverage than
the men. Aspiring to be like men would require us to also go the same extra mile that the male has to
also. Women s right is not for us to be equal while also being held on a pedestal at the same time.
Equality goes both ways, it is for us, as well as men. The inequality of the military has men doing the
double of what women do because they are seen as being mentally and physically stronger. This
relates to the requirements of the military that they have in place which indeed need to be changed for
it to be deemed as an equal service. This identifies

The General Strain Theory, And General Integrated Theory
This final theory is an extension of Hirschi s (1979) original idea of micro and macro dimensions
which are called cross level or multilevel integrations (Barak, 2002). The general strain theory is also
known as cross level or multilevel integrations including the reintegrative shaming theory, power
control theory, control balance theory and general integrated theory (Barak, 2002). These theories
combine theories like social bonding and social learning theories with structural theories such as
social disorganization and strain theories but does not address macro level factors that influence crime,
and instead focus solely on criminal behavior at the micro level. So far, very little theories suggested
have encompassed all levels of explaining criminology (Barak, 2002). This is a social structure macro
model which states that differential opportunities are not only crime class specific, but also are
accompanied by motivations for both crime and punishment. The introduction of an integrative theory
that analyzes the traits of locations and the people in the locations, rather than the people themselves.
It claims that deviant behavior is more prevalent in areas that are poorer (Barak, 2002). Life has many
daily strains and most do not lead to criminality but the greater the negative reaction, the higher the
probability for criminality. Also, a negative reaction perpetuates further negative reactions which leads
to a higher probability of criminal activities,

Donald Kettl s The Next Government Of The United States
Donald Kettl presents many controversial ideas in his book The Next Government of the United
States. While some of the ideas Kettl provides many be disagreed upon by some he gives excellent
validation for reasoning. Two ideas that I believe are well worth discussing are the Mildred Paradox
that correlates with the Mildred Corollary and the irresponsible governance provided by the federal
government. Each of these ideas brings about aspects that should be considered by citizens when
thinking of the U.S. government. Kettl s ideas are important in considering what the government does
and does not do for citizens: consequently, some may or may not trust the United States government,
and Kettl is providing reasoning behind the distrust. Kettl uses the negligence and disconnection of the
government to the citizens to provide reasoning for why our government is failing us. The Mildred
Paradox pertains to the United States government paying for services provided to citizens, but is not
the provider of the actual service. The services that the government is paying for are outsourced to
other companies. The government is not properly controlling or even involving themselves in these
services, therefore, things can slip through the cracks without being noticed; correspondingly, things
may be overlooked for the sake of the company providing the service. Kettl argues that the exposure
to such issues is growing in our system. Medicare and Medicaid provide money to people who need it,

Planning a Solid Waste Management System
Waste Management
Studies have shown that the amount of waste has been increasing dramatically due to the increase of
the worldwide population. There are various types of wastes, such as municipal solid waste, industrial

Analyzing Eminem s Song Lose Myself
Eminem, an American rapper and record producer, wrote a song called Lose Yourself. The song sets
up an all or nothing situation for the audience, according to his lyrics, when Eminem (2002) wrote,
Look, if you had one shot, or one opportunity. To seize everything you ever wanted in one moment.
Would you capture it or just let it slip? This song shows that I could put all my effort to achieve my
dreams. I had dreamed of going to a four year university which was in my grasp when Drexel
University accepted my application. However, I had rejected their offer when I became diagnosed
with Bipolar Type one disorder. I attended Anne Arundel Community College to focus on treating my
disease. My dream of attending a four year university became

Good And Evil In Gregory Maguire s Wicked
Anger and evil are main emotion that are portrayed in the book Wicked. These emotions are clear in
Gregory Maguire s famous novel, Wicked, which was published in 1995 and takes place in the Land
of Oz. This novel is one of Maguire s bestselling books and in 2003 they decided to turn it into a
musical and to this day it still gets performed to this day. Now Wicked is based on Oz therefor in the
book there are many things that tie together the two books. Wicked is supposed to be a better version
of The Wizard of Oz. The Wizard of Oz was written many years before Wicked even though when
looking at a timeline it shows Wicked should be first, then Oz. The book revolves around these two

Elphaba because Glinda brings the evil out in Elphaba and that is not a good thing because she makes
her feel poorly of herself and no one wants to feel that way. Elphaba also becomes very jealous of
Glinda and that is a start to another conflict between the two of them. Then end up turning against
each other and they are enemies. Good vs. Evil would be another popular theme in the book and it can
go along with the first one pretty well because it s about the same characters. The good witch brings
out the evil in the wicked witch. Now when you really think about this theme you have to realize that
this whole book basically says everyone is evil. But you have to purposely want to be evil you can t
just accidentally do that. When it comes to goodness you have to practice that over time it doesn t just
come naturally. If Elphaba actually practiced being nice she would ve had more friends by the end and
less enemies. But it was the other way around and that is fine but by the end of the book she wasn t
alive. No one could put up with how she treated others and people could see that she wasn t going to
change no matter if they thought she would. The book Wicked presents many different themes but the
ones that I pulled out really stuck with me and it described the layout of the book in a detailed

To organise any events or fulfil the duties I would happily spend some of my break. I will take the
time out of my days to catch up in my studies and organise any events instead of watching TV. Even
though I will try to fit everything in and not just stay at home all day watching TV I would still give
myself some free time so I don t get stressed out or overworked. I would also be prepared and ask for
deadlines to make sure I do the tasks on time. I may even make a routine for myself for example when
I get home at around 4, I could change, eat and shower at a certain and then spend a few hours on
revising and homework, then spend some time on fulfilling my responsibilities as a student leader.
6. Which public figurehead/leader is inspirational to you and why?
My inspirational leader would be Nelson Mandela, Nelson Mandela was a very important leader in
history, and he sacrificed most of his life for equal rights and opportunities to black people. Nelson
Mandela was the first black South African President and fought to stop racism. Mandela was
imprisoned in 1962; he spent 27 years in prison simply to save millions of people from slavery. For

Trust is Earned
Trust is having the confidence to rely on someone or something. This attribute is extremely hard to
achieve and requires sacrifices. For Huck to find a home or a place he is comfortable with he needs to
have the feeling that he is surrounded by characters of reliance and assurance. Huck Finn has a highly
different perspective of the world opposed to the people who surround him. Most importantly, Huck
struggles heavily on determining the difference between right and wrong because of the people around
him that influence him. He makes his decisions based upon past experiences dictated by trust. Mark
Twain makes the choice of a social satire because having Huck tell the story allows the reader to see
and understand how a child interprets what happens around him. The reader can then view Hucks
thought process and grasp what he is feeling. For example, while being around his father, Huck does
not feel safe therefore he runs away. Throughout the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Huck comes
across multiple families and people, yet he never experiences a truly comfortable feeling among any
family due his conscience constantly fighting with his white southern instincts.
Moreover, Huck begins his story being constantly harassed by his drunk father. His father is
consistently looked upon by the town as a failure and a disgrace to the south. Pap is continually
beating Huck for going to school because he believes by

Critical Thinker
Last weekend, while I was talking to our children, they said that they wanted to become independent.
In replying, I said, we want you to be independent, and that is what we expect you to be when you
grow up. What does it means working independently? It has a broader meaning, and it requires hard
work, but many youngsters who want to become independent do not have a clear idea about it. They
simply follow others.
Think independently
First, we need to understand who is an independent thinker and how he differs from others.
Independent thinkers have a critical view about the world. They are not ready to accept others
opinions as the ultimate truth, and they analyses issues in depth. Example of a critical thinker was
Lord Buddha, who refused to accept the teachings of his masters after critically analyzed their
teaching. Also, independent thinkers are not afraid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In many cultures, parents expect unconditional obedience from children, imposing their beliefs on
them. In school, teaches expect students to be discipline and follow instructions to the word,
discouraging critical thinking, which is a prerequisite to become and independent thinker. Almost all
the religions in the world expect their followers to adhere to their teaching blindly, and consider those
who question them as enemies. Consequently, the independent thinkers wage a war with established
believe and practices.
Therefore, in order the nurture in a challenging society, independent thinkers need to gain certain
qualities to face challenges. One of the quality is the self confidence. When a person lack confidence
in himself, the qualm creep into their minds, which restrict his ability to think independently and force
him to accept status qua. You can develop self confidence by gaining knowledge as it encourages you

Canada s Policy Difference Of The United States Essay
Canada s policy difference
The assessment of Canada s housing policy is based more upon the need of its citizen versus the right.
Over the years, homelessness has developed in size and complication in Canada (Gaetz, Tarasuk,
Dachner, Kirkpatrick, 2006). Originally, the homeless crisis was a major concern of urban centers like
Montreal, Laval, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, and Toronto, but rising frequency of homelessness in
the suburbs is compelling an immediate response (Laird, 2007). In response to the surmounting
homelessness that Canada is facing, the Federal Government of Canada proposed $120 million
annually from April 2014 until April 2019 with $700 million in new funding to renew its
Homelessness Partnering Strategy (HPS) in Action Plan 2011(Government of Canada, 2016). The
response to the surmounting threat of homelessness is comparable to the response the United States
taken with the PATH policy. Similar to the United States policy, Canada s response is community
based to the need of the citizen afflicted. However, there are key differences in policy such as the
PATH policy offers outreach services, screening and diagnostic treatment services, and case
management services that are more individual intensive (Benefits.Gov, 2016).
Canada s policies addressing homelessness
There are several policies that Canada have in place in order to safeguard against homelessness. There
are the Homelessness Partnering Strategy, Canada s Economic Action Plan 2013, and Canada s

Theme Of Money In The Great Gatsby
There s no point in denying it, we all love money and want lots of it. We yearn to be like the richest
people in the world, who have so much money they can do whatever they want. Maybe some of us
even want to be the richest person in the world, at this moment the richest man in the world is Jeff
Bezos, founder of Amazon. He has a net worth of 90.6 billion dollars, something none of us will ever
experience, but can dream about. But dreams pertaining to money can only get us so far. Money is a
theme consistently expressed throughout two novels, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Of
Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. Fitzgerald s novel considers money largely through the eyes of a
very wealthy man who flourishes in life, whose name is Gatsby. On the other hand, Steinbeck s novel
describes the story of two men, who have little money and no accomplishments to boast about
whatsoever. The Great Gatsby and Of Mice and Men show that great success and quality of life is
determined by who you know, and how much money you have.
In The Great Gatsby, the main character Jay Gatsby is a very successful, well to do man because he
has many business acquaintances and experiences no shortages of money. Gatsby begins his journey
towards prosperity when he first meets Dan Cody. Dan Cody is a very a wealthy and knowledgeable
man who supplies Gatsby with both the expertise and necessary material tools to exceed in life
(Fitzgerald 100). Once Gatsby sets out to make his own fortune, he never

American, Little Miss Sunshine, By Jonathan Dayton And...
American Sunshine
The American Dream has been redefined through different eras of the United States. At its most
optimistic, the American Dream is about having the freedom and opportunity to do and be whatever
one chooses, the success stemming from one s achievement of individuality. But the influences of
capitalistic ideals in the United States have shifted the common definition and instead of optimism the
American Dream is now defined in more cynical terms of upward mobility and wealth. UK director
Andrea Arnold s 2016 film American Honey about a young woman who joins a roaming magazine

Rather than facing against the discomforts of the working class grind, they seem to be complacent in
their existence of freewheeling abandon (Madden 2016).
In addition to the importance that is placed on money and wealth, the central theme of Arnold s film
lies in the interactions more accurately transactions between the crew and the people they meet. These
kids are supposedly selling magazines, but really they are selling themselves. That feels very
American. So the environment in the bus is like a potted version of the bigger picture (Class Notes).
As the film progresses the lines that define what Star will and won t do for money become more
blurred as she begins to lose herself to Arnold s American dream a fantasy born out of hardship. The
importance of wealth is equally reflected in moments of Little Miss Sunshine. Plane tickets are
unaffordable, so the entire Hoover family is forced to drive to California for the daughter Olive s
competition because they cannot in good conscious leave behind any of their number, however much
they d like to separate (Klawans, p.42). When they make a stop at a restaurant each of the family
members must order something from the menu under four dollars, another testament to the realism of
their financial means. While wealth is not the central point of Dayton and Faris film, the moments that
are shaped by wealth resonate with the primary ideology of success in Little Miss Sunshine. To be

The Great Epics And Tales
Mythology is one of the most interesting parts of a culture. It reveals customs, history and traditions
like no other. Above all it defines the way of living and reflects the mentality of an entire civilization.
Almost every society in this world has faced sexism in one form or the other. Some societies chose to
fight it and bring a change. On the other hand there are a few societies where sexism became a way of
life. It is instilled in the minds of the people and passed from one generation to another. It is not

Sexism in the modern Indian society is a result of centuries of acceptance and ignorance. Particularly

The two of the most powerful mythological tales of all time, the Mahabharata and the Ramayana, aid

influence on American culture as a whole. One major way in which this type of influence can be seen
is in the culture of the Gullah people. YOUR INTRODUCTION DEFIENTLY GRABBED MY
ATTENTION Who are the Gullah people? The Gullah are an existing community of people who
descended from West African slaves and have managed to retain important aspects of their African
culture. These people can be found from the coast of North Carolina to Florida otherwise known as
the Low Country. Gullah people are also referred to as Gullah/Geechee or Geechee. The main
distinction between Gullah people and Geechee people is that Gullah refers to those from the
Carolinas and Geechee is used for those from Florida and Georgia. This is in reference to the

Essay on Complexity Theory
The words complexity and complex have been used in the context of management. While the word
complex suggests dynamics rising from the interaction between elements, factors, parts, it results in
nonlinear and ongoing changes in the parts. The word complexity is used different ways in many
organization systems. The different uses of this word is dependent on the systems being chartered and
organized. Nowadays, complexity theory is at the center of what systems are today and it is attached
with the concept that a system is more than a set of machines. Regarding complexity theory, Margarita
Mayoral (2012) stated that Complexity theory enables the identification, characterization, and
comparison of the structure and dynamics of many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Complexity theory tries to rationalize the behavior of complex systems by attempting to discover how
the separated factors of a system cooperate together to shape the system and its outcomes.
Characteristics of Complexity theory
Complexity theory also has some basic characteristics: Complexity theory is characterized by a
number of similar elements but they are separated. These elements interact information together by
receiving from their neighbors.
While elements keep interacting together, one agent s actions will affect to another agents so based on
these action, they divide into two kinds of feedback which are negative and positive feedback which
are the unique feature that differ the complex system from a complicated system. Due to these
characteristics, small changes in one area can make a large changes in the whole systems: It is not
always easy to determine and identify the boundaries of a complex system. The boundary often comes
from the observer s needs. But sometimes, we can base on the property of the systems to find the
boundaries of a complex system. History is an important characteristic in complex systems. It is easy
to recognize that all the actions, reactions, and behaviors in the past can influence the current s
behavior. Besides, the complex system also has some other

The Warsaw Uprising
In the Mississauga City Hall from November 5th to 11th, will be shown an exhibition Canadian
Aviators Help Warsaw During the Uprising. The exhibition was opened by the Consul General of the
Republic of Poland in Toronto Grzegorz Morawski, and Mayor of Mississauga Bonnie Crombie, and a
special letter was sent to all participants by the President of Poland Andrzej Duda. This is yet another
edition of the exhibition prepared by the Warsaw Rising Museum and the Embassy of Canada in
Warsaw, presented this time by the Consulate General in collaboration with Heritage Mississauga. The
exhibition presents the history of the last flight of Halifax JP 276 A, shot down by the Germans during
the flight with supplies for the fighting capital, and as well the painstaking work of experts from the
Warsaw Rising Museum to identify the remains of the plane and its crew a few decades later. Opening

uprising. It was shot down flying over Dabrowa Tarnowska. The entire crew of the Halifax perished:
the five Canadians from The Royal Canadian Air Force, a Briton and an Irishman on a duty from
Royal Air Force. The wreckage of the plane plunged several meters deep into the ground, and it was
buried there for over 60 years. The remains of the plane were found and excavated in November of
2006. In addition to many aircraft debris, the historians from the Warsaw Rising Museum also found
the remains of the crew and their personal belongings, including pocket knife, documents, maps, the

Marketing Concepts Of The Valley Animal Center
Describe the marketing objectives you sought to achieve, using marketing terms and concepts.
The Valley Animal Center organizes an event each year to help raise funds for the shelter. The event
we participated in is called Wiggle Waggle Walk. As group, we had the task to market the event and
come up with a fun interacting activity for the occasion. We had three main objectives that helped us
to better organize and focus our ideas. The first objective was to generate a creative and interactive
activity for the participants of the Wiggle Waggle Walk to go through. The second objective was to
sign up at least five individuals as a result from marketing the event. The last objective was to create
promotional flyers to increase awareness and attendance for the walk. To complete the marketing
project, we went through a process.
Throughout the process, we met with Jackie, our supervisor, at least once a week to keep her updated
with our progress. The first time we met with Jackie, she gave us the theme for the event, which was
Movie Mania. As a group, we decided to create a Minion Photo Booth for the Wiggle Waggle Walk
that took place at the Woodward Park on October 11. Jackie s supervisor liked our idea and gave us
the approval to continue with our plan. The next objective was one of the biggest ones, which
consisted of signing up at least five individuals for the event. To encourage people to sign up for the
event, we offered a promo code of $5 discount to the first five

The Knee Joint And The Rehabilitation Process
Biomechanics is a field that looks into the structure and function of biological systems such as
humans; it can be used in numerous fields. It ranges from aiding in sports performance to helping
people with daily tasks such as walking. Majority of sport related occur in the lower extremities.
Lower extremities include the hip, knee and ankle joints and the femur, tibia, fibula, and multiple foot
bones. This paper will focus on the role of the ACL, how it is injured, and the rehabilitation process.
While each component of the lower extremity has its own role, the knee is the most complex. The
knee joint performs various functions and carries most of the weight of the upper body. There are four
ligaments in the knee joint: the anterior ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It can be completely torn (ruptured), separated from the tibia or femur (avulsion), or the ligament and
part of the bone may be separated from the rest of the bone (avulsion fracture) 3. There are many
actions that can lead to an ACL tear; shear strain can occur when one is hit on the side of the knee,
simultaneous hyperextension and pivoting of the knee joint, a rapid deceleration or rapid cessation of
movement, and/or a rapid change in direction especially when running, or landing are all leading
causes2. Symptoms of an ACL tear are severe pain, a loud popping sound, swelling, inability to bear
weight, instability of knee joint, and/or loss of full range of motion at the knee joint 2,3,7.
There are certain populations that are at a high risk, athletes and women. Women are 4 to 10 times
more likely than men to tear their ACL7. In terms of biomechanics of the lower extremities there are
various theories as to why this may be. Researchers from the University of Colorado Hospital believe
that it can be attributed to an imbalance in the strength ratio between the quadriceps and hamstrings;
women tend
to use their quadriceps to slow down and this causes instability10. Since women have a wider pelvis, it
creates an increased angle and an increased stress on the ACL. Also women have a narrower femoral
notch that decreases room where the ACL is located and can pinch and possibly rupture it12. Last,
researchers believe that

Holliday s Dreamgirls
The 1982 version of Dreamgirls showed a great deal of emotion, and power. The way the Holliday
performed definitely made the seen and atmosphere seem believe in my eyes. It was important for
Holliday to emphasis the emotion she was supposed to be feeling throughout the play, because of the
fact that it was a Broadway musical. In musicals, since there is generally no mics being used, the
performers have to project their voices to be heard. During musicals it is also acceptable to
overdramatize a scene to ensure that the emotions the character should be feeling is portrayed
accurately. I don t feel that Holliday s style would work on film, because of the fact that she over
performs so much. While it is fine to do this in stage plays, seeing this

Asian history
China was the most powerful maritime force for almost three decades during the 14th century. The
world recognized the Chinese for their fine artisan skills, which included creating stunning porcelains
and silks. They also had great marine navigation skills, vast knowledge in astronomy and advanced
firepower technology. Before the Ming Dynasty, the Yi citizens of China involuntarily stopped
working on the land, hence had to seek for alternatives in the sea for survival. A century before
Columbus plus his allied Europeans started their entry into the Modern World, seven voyages of
massive castoffs commanded by the eunuch Zheng He ventured through the China Seas to East Africa,
throughout Korea and Japan. This occurred between 1405 and 1433, during the reign of Zhu Di. Using
their skills, they conquered the forces around the Indian Ocean, making China the naval ruler. In the
book When China Ruled the Seas, Louise Levathes explores the historic timeline of China s dynamic
transformation until her rise and dominance as a marine power. Discussed below is China s overall ...

China to the outside world. On their completion, under the command of Zhen He, they sailed. Calicut,

ships made. Contrary to the Confucian advisors belief that China was an agricultural country, Emperor
Zhi Di s intention was to jump start business with the Indian Ocean countries. The ship holds came
fully packed with the beautiful designs of porcelains and silks for trade. The other voyages sent to
Calicut confirmed the close trade union established between China and India. This expedition

  • 2. Vibrio Natriegen s Generation Time Title: Vibrio natriegens s generation time and optimal growth environment using a Closed Growth System. Abstract: The objective of this experiment is to find out what the optimal growth environment is for V. natriegens out of three different environments. The first is a Brain Heart Infusion broth (BHI) that contains 50 mM of NaCl. The second is BHI containing 250 mM of NaCl. The third is BHI containing 1000 mM NaCl. In order to obtain this, a growth curve graph must be constructed for each different environment, and the generation time of the bacteria in each environment must be calculated. The optimal environment for V. natriegens was found to be the BHI with 250 mM of NaCl. Introduction: The type environment that bacteria live ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is the y value posted in the upper right hand corner. The following data was obtained from the Closed System Growth experiment: As shown in the figure above, it is evident that V.natriegens grew faster when the Brain Heart Infusion (BHI) broth contained 250mM NaCl. The # of bacterial cells at each time point was measured following the equation given in the How to generate a bacterial growth curve supplemental material posted on D2L. (2) The data was then recorded in the table listed above. A growth curve graph was constructed using the data above which illustrated the differences between each of the different BHI mixtures. The graph was then used to determine the generation time of V.natriegens for each different environmental condition. In order to calculate the generation time (g) the mean growth rate (k) must be calculated. The formula to do this is posted in the supplemental material How to generate a bacterial growth curve on D2L. The k value calculated for each condition goes as follows: At 50 mM NaCl k= 2.2 generations per hour At 250 mM NaCl k= 4.7 generations per hour At 1000 mM NaCl k= 3.2 generations per hour The generation time for each condition goes as follows: At 50 mM NaCl g= .45 hours per generation At 250 mM NaCl g= .21 hours per generation At 1000 mM NaCl g= .31 hours per generation With all of these calculations the environment that is optimal for V. natriegens was determined. ... • 3. What Is Ernest Hemingway Code Hero Each person has their own perception of what a hero is. Ernest Hemingway has a specific set of guidelines to identify who is a hero and who isn t: Code Hero. Hemingway s code entails following the ideals of honor, courage and endurance in a world that is sometimes chaotic, often stressful, and always painful. Two characters, each written by Ernest Hemingway and John Steinbeck, respectively, both demonstrate and fall short of Hemingway s standard. Santiago, of Ernest Hemingway s Old Man and the Sea, fits the code in his perseverance through the hardships he endures while fishing, and even though Santiago was written by the creator of Code Hero, fails to reflect it in his impatience. All of George s motives were to keep Lennie safe and give him the best and happiest life he could. George was persevering and courageous enough to do all it would take, including sacrificing his mental state to put Lennie out of his misery. The region is known to be associated with the adjacent land of South Australia and New South Wales and is also recognised to join with the Wimmera and Loddon regions of Victoria. Also, because of the large area which the region covers and the diversity it beholds, it is sometimes distinguished into two sub regions, the north and the south. Whilst 38% of the land is occupied by the public, only 1% of the remaining 62% is protected from grazing animals and only 3.04% retains native vegetation. ???????? Hydrosol is a very wet kind of soil and is saturated for the majority of the year, often located where former lake beds occur. Sudosol is more sodic than acidic, it is a Texture Contrast Soil and therefore there is a strong contrast between the surface and the subsoil. This is the most common type of soil in the Mallee region. Vertosols are soils which grow and shrink, causing cracking when the soil dries out. They occur along the creek and river beds as well as the broad plains of the Mallee. Along the coastlines of the Mallee are Calcarosol soils, they, unlike Sudosols and Vertosols, do not have a strong texture contrast throughout its layers. Lastly, two sandy soils have been identified in the Mallee region: Rudosol and Tenosol. Rudosols are very young and undeveloped soils and are widespread in the Big Desert and Sunset Country. Tenosols are also rather undeveloped and occur in the same areas as Rudosols. Tenosols generally have a low water holding capacity and fertility . Having a vast selection of soils can only mean that a vast selection of produce comes from the area. Product information: A large array of products are grown in the north west of Victoria. Some common fruits and vegetables which come from the Mallee are grapes (74% of Victoria s table grapes and 98% of its dried grapes), almonds and carrots, to name a few. In order to gain the most power humanly possibly you do not have to be remembered, your action needs to be remembered. Power is the ability to help others benefit out of an action. If given the opportunity to go back in time to irrevocably alter the future, I would take the opportunity to invent the birth control pill in advance of time. Although the idea of this pill was before World War II, the pill was made available to the public in 1960. If those using condoms were aware of the stronger ability the pill had over the condom, the pill would have all power. Condom selling companies would try to overpower us with their promotion during World War II but to prevent that we would use propaganda and allow the public to see statics of being impregnated using these two methods. Although the FDA or allied soldiers would want to ban this pill, mass pills would be made and distributed to all locals. Some benefits of providing women with the pill would be less suffrage of children of unplanned pregnancies. The greater use of the pill and evidence showing it works would possibly lead to a different population throughout the world. The pill would definitely be not expensive to provide for all. Thoughts Of The Asian Crisis Term Paper Thoughts of the Asian Crisis (1997 1998) In the period between 1997 to 1998, a great economic storm blew the some fast developing countries, especially Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia. They had great economic development before the crisis, but left almost everything at the end of the storm. The most obvious impact of the crisis is the capital outflows and currency devaluation. So, people in those developing countries began to find who should be responding to the crisis. International speculators were appropriate targets to be blamed due to their actives during the crisis. The rate of export was gradually carrying a higher weight; the real GDP had more than 8 percentage annual growths constantly. Malaysia is little bit different: it did hold float exchange rate but that is essentially a sort of dirty float which means the government will influence the direction of exchange rate frequently to keep the exchange rate in a certain range. In anyway, those three countries tried to use relatively sturdy currency policy and quickly increasing economic environment to attract international capital. Black joined the military in large numbers, escaping a decade of Depression and tenant farming in the South and Midwest. Yet, like the rest of America in the 1940s, the armed forces were segregated. The Army accepted black enlistees but created separate black infantry regiments and assigned white commanders to them. Of the more than 2.5 million African Americans who registered for the draft in WWII, about 900,000 served in the Army. But about only 50,000 African Americans were allowed to serve in combat. The campaign borrowed on the well known two finger V for Victory salute from Winston Churchill. The paper proclaimed that blacks should work for the victory of democracy both at home and abroad. The Double V campaign caught on. Civil rights leaders such as A. Philip Randolph saw the unique situation created by World War II and the acute need for workers as an opportunity to demand equality. In 1941 Randolph threatened President Roosevelt with a 100,000 person march on Washington, D.C., to protest job discrimination. In response, Roosevelt issued Executive Order 8802, prohibiting discrimination in defense jobs or the government. On the home front, the U.S. government desperately needed workers to fill newly created defense jobs and factory positions left open by soldiers who had left to fight. A strong and dynamic leadership at the helm of powers as the executive and acting with unlimited powers may lead to arbitrariness. After all power corrupts power; absolute power corrupts absolutely; in the result democracy may become a laughing stock and virtually unworkable. Hence, in order to prevent unwieldy growth of any one of these three divisions, a fantastic mechanism known as powers of checks and balances has been maintained in both countries. In other words, each division of power is somehow or other checked and controlled by other divisions of power. States Dani Moritz from The Muse. (Mortiz) Women have been thrown out of spotlight when it came to genuine positions. Does this shout disparity for women, as well as stereotyping and it for the most part tosses women s rights ideal out of the window? Women began to climb the ladder and finally became equal to men, well almost. Women s rights include, but is not limited to positions that any man can hold, promotions that were not allowed beforehand last but not least socially and legal equality. As women, we can t continue to yell inequality when we are not on the same playing field as men. We, women, have more leverage than the men. Aspiring to be like men would require us to also go the same extra mile that the male has to also. Women s right is not for us to be equal while also being held on a pedestal at the same time. • 16. Donald Kettl s The Next Government Of The United States Donald Kettl presents many controversial ideas in his book The Next Government of the United States. While some of the ideas Kettl provides many be disagreed upon by some he gives excellent validation for reasoning. Two ideas that I believe are well worth discussing are the Mildred Paradox that correlates with the Mildred Corollary and the irresponsible governance provided by the federal government. Each of these ideas brings about aspects that should be considered by citizens when thinking of the U.S. government. Kettl s ideas are important in considering what the government does and does not do for citizens: consequently, some may or may not trust the United States government, and Kettl is providing reasoning behind the distrust. Kettl uses the negligence and disconnection of the government to the citizens to provide reasoning for why our government is failing us. The Mildred Paradox pertains to the United States government paying for services provided to citizens, but is not the provider of the actual service. The services that the government is paying for are outsourced to other companies. The government is not properly controlling or even involving themselves in these services, therefore, things can slip through the cracks without being noticed; correspondingly, things may be overlooked for the sake of the company providing the service. Over the years, homelessness has developed in size and complication in Canada (Gaetz, Tarasuk, Dachner, Kirkpatrick, 2006). Originally, the homeless crisis was a major concern of urban centers like Montreal, Laval, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, and Toronto, but rising frequency of homelessness in the suburbs is compelling an immediate response (Laird, 2007). In response to the surmounting homelessness that Canada is facing, the Federal Government of Canada proposed $120 million annually from April 2014 until April 2019 with $700 million in new funding to renew its Homelessness Partnering Strategy (HPS) in Action Plan 2011(Government of Canada, 2016). The response to the surmounting threat of homelessness is comparable to the response the United States taken with the PATH policy. Similar to the United States policy, Canada s response is community based to the need of the citizen afflicted. However, there are key differences in policy such as the PATH policy offers outreach services, screening and diagnostic treatment services, and case management services that are more individual intensive (Benefits.Gov, 2016). • 38. Masculinity Issues In Policing Essay Before discussing what traits lead to problems in policing, we must first identify the problems in the first place. One problem that comes to mind is Corruption. Despite recruiter s best efforts to weed out the rotten apples or those susceptible to attaining any personality trait that could be a problem in the long run, many will still serve and have traits such as authoritarianism, suspiciousness, brutality, ultraconservatism and so on. We have touched base in lesson notes many times on such personality traits and how they effect the community in terms of public confidence and whether these traits allow an individual to act in a lawful manner. To me, all these traits lead to other traits. It leads to a whole new policing culture, and that culture ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both men and women officers hold macho value and attitudes in terms of the stereotypical tough guy. Although there are problematic traits in the police force, many individuals hold traits which give them the upper hand over their follow officers. It is a cultural norm where you have to display your masculinity in ways such as their behavior for one, the clothing they wear and the way they talk. In terms of women and femininity, most try to prove themselves to men. The Police have a lot of power [they have the ability to save lives but many chose to abuse that power by owning citizens of the state that they live in, with their badge, they have the power to verbally disrespect, the power to say things such as stop or put your hands up] (Huffingtonpost). Officers have the ability to arrest individuals without proper evidence or cause. • 39. The Culture Of The Gullah People Culture is an ever changing, ever evolving entity. Culture is something that for many is taken for granted as they have always had that connection to their past. It is not easily definable but it is an essential part of every nation s composition. American culture itself is a conglomeration of several different cultures that make up a unique and separate identity from each of the cultures it draws from. Everyone knows about American Southern culture whether their perceptions of it is accurate or not. Fewer know about African American culture in the south. Many people including some African Americans themselves are not aware of the aspects of African culture that were preserved and its influence on American culture as a whole. One major way in which this type of influence can be seen is in the culture of the Gullah people. YOUR INTRODUCTION DEFIENTLY GRABBED MY ATTENTION Who are the Gullah people? • 40. Essay on Complexity Theory The words complexity and complex have been used in the context of management. While the word complex suggests dynamics rising from the interaction between elements, factors, parts, it results in nonlinear and ongoing changes in the parts. The word complexity is used different ways in many organization systems. The different uses of this word is dependent on the systems being chartered and organized. Nowadays, complexity theory is at the center of what systems are today and it is attached with the concept that a system is more than a set of machines. Regarding complexity theory, Margarita Mayoral (2012) stated that Complexity theory enables the identification, characterization, and comparison of the structure and dynamics of many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Complexity theory tries to rationalize the behavior of complex systems by attempting to discover how the separated factors of a system cooperate together to shape the system and its outcomes. Characteristics of Complexity theory Complexity theory also has some basic characteristics: Complexity theory is characterized by a number of similar elements but they are separated. These elements interact information together by receiving from their neighbors. While elements keep interacting together, one agent s actions will affect to another agents so based on these action, they divide into two kinds of feedback which are negative and positive feedback which are the unique feature that differ the complex system from a complicated system. Due to these characteristics, small changes in one area can make a large changes in the whole systems: It is not always easy to determine and identify the boundaries of a complex system. The boundary often comes from the observer s needs. But sometimes, we can base on the property of the systems to find the boundaries of a complex system. History is an important characteristic in complex systems. It is easy to recognize that all the actions, reactions, and behaviors in the past can influence the current s behavior. Besides, the complex system also has some other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Marketing Concepts Of The Valley Animal Center Describe the marketing objectives you sought to achieve, using marketing terms and concepts. The Valley Animal Center organizes an event each year to help raise funds for the shelter. The event we participated in is called Wiggle Waggle Walk. As group, we had the task to market the event and come up with a fun interacting activity for the occasion. We had three main objectives that helped us to better organize and focus our ideas. The first objective was to generate a creative and interactive activity for the participants of the Wiggle Waggle Walk to go through. The second objective was to sign up at least five individuals as a result from marketing the event. The last objective was to create promotional flyers to increase awareness and attendance for the walk. To complete the marketing project, we went through a process. Throughout the process, we met with Jackie, our supervisor, at least once a week to keep her updated with our progress. The first time we met with Jackie, she gave us the theme for the event, which was Movie Mania. As a group, we decided to create a Minion Photo Booth for the Wiggle Waggle Walk that took place at the Woodward Park on October 11. Jackie s supervisor liked our idea and gave us the approval to continue with our plan. The next objective was one of the biggest ones, which consisted of signing up at least five individuals for the event. To encourage people to sign up for the event, we offered a promo code of $5 discount to the first five ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. The Knee Joint And The Rehabilitation Process Biomechanics is a field that looks into the structure and function of biological systems such as humans; it can be used in numerous fields. It ranges from aiding in sports performance to helping people with daily tasks such as walking. Majority of sport related occur in the lower extremities. Lower extremities include the hip, knee and ankle joints and the femur, tibia, fibula, and multiple foot bones. This paper will focus on the role of the ACL, how it is injured, and the rehabilitation process. While each component of the lower extremity has its own role, the knee is the most complex. The knee joint performs various functions and carries most of the weight of the upper body. There are four ligaments in the knee joint: the anterior ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It can be completely torn (ruptured), separated from the tibia or femur (avulsion), or the ligament and part of the bone may be separated from the rest of the bone (avulsion fracture) 3. There are many actions that can lead to an ACL tear; shear strain can occur when one is hit on the side of the knee, simultaneous hyperextension and pivoting of the knee joint, a rapid deceleration or rapid cessation of movement, and/or a rapid change in direction especially when running, or landing are all leading causes2. Symptoms of an ACL tear are severe pain, a loud popping sound, swelling, inability to bear weight, instability of knee joint, and/or loss of full range of motion at the knee joint 2,3,7. There are certain populations that are at a high risk, athletes and women. Women are 4 to 10 times more likely than men to tear their ACL7. In terms of biomechanics of the lower extremities there are various theories as to why this may be. Researchers from the University of Colorado Hospital believe that it can be attributed to an imbalance in the strength ratio between the quadriceps and hamstrings; women tend to use their quadriceps to slow down and this causes instability10. Since women have a wider pelvis, it creates an increased angle and an increased stress on the ACL. Also women have a narrower femoral notch that decreases room where the ACL is located and can pinch and possibly rupture it12. Last, researchers believe that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Holliday s Dreamgirls The 1982 version of Dreamgirls showed a great deal of emotion, and power. The way the Holliday performed definitely made the seen and atmosphere seem believe in my eyes. It was important for Holliday to emphasis the emotion she was supposed to be feeling throughout the play, because of the fact that it was a Broadway musical. In musicals, since there is generally no mics being used, the performers have to project their voices to be heard. During musicals it is also acceptable to overdramatize a scene to ensure that the emotions the character should be feeling is portrayed accurately. I don t feel that Holliday s style would work on film, because of the fact that she over performs so much. While it is fine to do this in stage plays, seeing this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The world recognized the Chinese for their fine artisan skills, which included creating stunning porcelains and silks. They also had great marine navigation skills, vast knowledge in astronomy and advanced firepower technology. Before the Ming Dynasty, the Yi citizens of China involuntarily stopped working on the land, hence had to seek for alternatives in the sea for survival. A century before Columbus plus his allied Europeans started their entry into the Modern World, seven voyages of massive castoffs commanded by the eunuch Zheng He ventured through the China Seas to East Africa, throughout Korea and Japan. This occurred between 1405 and 1433, during the reign of Zhu Di. Using their skills, they conquered the forces around the Indian Ocean, making China the naval ruler.
