It is formed by using the base form of the verb except for the third person singular, which adds "s". Negatives are formed by adding "don't" or "doesn't" before the verb. Verbs ending in consonant-y change to ies in the third person singular. Questions are formed by placing the subject after the verb when using "can", "do", or "does". The verb "to be" is irregular in this tense.
