What is the industrial revolution?
The industrial revolution is defined as the period in
which we made drastic (big) changes to our
transportation and how we manufacture (make)
products.
Originally (to begin with), before the industrial
revolution most things were made by hand in small
workshops, and the only transport we had was horses.
This was really inefficient(Not the best way of doing it)
so we invented ways to carry out these tasks.
Why was the industrial revolution
important? Make a mind map and find the
reasons.
The Industrial Revolution also changed
how society was organised.
Before the Industrial Revolution
After the Industrial Revolution
Proletariat and Bourgeoisie
The idea of the
Proletariat and
Bourgeoisie was created
by a man called Karl
Marx.
The proletariat are the WORKING class that complete the
hard laborious jobs. These are the farmers, the factory
workers, the cooks etc…
The Bourgeoisie are the people that own
the equipment that the Proletariat use
(Can also be called the means of
production). The bourgeoisie are the
UPPER class and have the most money.
Industrial Revolution in Spain
During the 19th century, the Industrial Revolution was taking place across
Europe. These changes happened more slowly in Spain than in other
European counties. Spain´s economy was based mainly on agriculture for
most of the 19th century. However industry developed in some parts of
Spain.
There were textile factories in Cataluña.
Mining was important Asturias and in Río Tinto in Huelva.
The steel industry developed in País Vasco.
Investigate one invention from the
industrial revolution, and make a poster on
it. How has the invention changed society?

Editor's Notes

  • #5 Factory- where things are made Engine- Used to power machinary Steamengine- Powered by the steam engine Camera- First ever working camera Steam ship- Used to cross the atlantic Underground railway
  • #6 Great video that goes slightly more in-depth in certain area. Textile industry, agriculture, some conflicts during this time and more.
  • #8 Ask them about why they think the industrial revolution is important. If we are visiting madrid should we walk? In terms of exploration? Culture/history (photographs) Food production
