income in 2010 seems lower than 2011 due to less operating and investment activities in 2010. Apart
the item labeled other expenses and amortization of intangibles; all the other expenses were slightly
higher. The increase in non interest expense was driven largely by higher compensation expense
reflecting headcount. The operating cost as part of the non interest expense was definitely higher
compared to 2010.The higher headcount visibly explains this increase. The provision for credit lost
was 8.41% lower than the 2010 provision. This was due to the amelioration of collection from
customers. Consumer business modestly improved and mortgage net charge offs and delinquencies
improved. It is probably included in the item other expenses which were lower than 2010 but 6.38%

The Career Of Becoming A Doctor Essay
The career that I have chosen to pursue is an Internist (General Physician). In kindergarten,
Mrs.Knowles asked, What do you want to be when you grow up ? My answer was to become a doctor;
little did I know that career goal would stick with me for the rest of my life. Growing up, seeing my
mother and godmother on their way to becoming medical assistants began to enhance my interest in
the medical field.Skimming through their textbooks amazed me on how the human body is so
complex yet so captivating. Getting accepted to Hillcrest High School s Pre Med Program made me
ecstatic. The rigorous science and advanced mathematics courses were beginning to prepare me for
my future endeavours. My academic interest in becoming a doctor was evident, but soon, there was an
emotional connection. August 31, 2015 is a day I will never forget. My mom had just gotten into a car
accident; there were a million thoughts and emotions rushing through me. Arriving at the hospital, I
was scared but anxious to see her. When I walked into the room, tears immediately came to my eyes
seeing her in a neck brace. Initially, I thought she was in stable condition because she only complained
only about a slight back pain. What happened a few moments after she said those words will never be
erased from my mind. My mother had a seizure right before my eyes. The doctors rushed in as I
remained speechless; it felt as if everything around me was moving but I could not hear a thing. It was
a tough night

Children Of God Through Faith
Beginning in 3:26, the NIV and NRSV translates, for you are all children of God through faith in
Christ Jesus. Here the word children translates in the Greek, téknon which means a child, descendant,
inhabitant. Téknon properly, a child; (figuratively) anyone living in full dependence on the heavenly
Father, i.e. fully (willingly) relying upon the Lord in glad submission. This prompts God to transform
them into His likeness. The NKJV translates, for you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
This word son translates in the Greek, hyiós. It emphasizes likeness of the believer to the heavenly
Father, i.e. resembling His character more and more by living in faith. The choice of the word son may
be in part because during biblical times a son was considered the inheritor of land, property, and
family wealth. Daughters were not typically ones to inherit anything. Further, each of the three
translations uses the word all . The word all in the Greek translates, pas . Pás ( each, every ) means all
in the sense of each (every) part that applies. The emphasis of the total picture then is on one piece at a
time. By all it is not excluding anyone or singling out one group of people (as described in 3:28).
Cultural Background In Judaism circumcision is performed on the eight day of the male child s life in

Correlation Between Music and IQ in Children Essay
1. Introduction
This project investigates the effect which the playing of a musical instrument namely the drums has on
one s intelligence and academic ability. A search of the literature reveals that studies of this kind have
been conducted by other researchers in many parts of the world and has led to the conclusion that
music is an extremely healthy activity to be involved in.
A study conducted on school children in America concluded that children who took voice or piano
lessons had higher IQ s at the end of the year than those who did not (Munsey, 2006). Dye (2012)
reinforces this, stating that scientific research shows that studying music improves school
performance. Gaser and Schlaug (2003) showed that musicians learn advanced ... Show more content

The aim of this study is to ascertain whether learning to play the drums increases one s IQ score or
not. Will learners who take daily drum lessons for two weeks improve their intelligence by improving
their memories and having their brains stimulated?
2. Review of Literature
A number of studies showing the relationship between the playing of musical instruments and IQ
development are discussed below. A few studies on the effect of drum lessons on brain development
are also considered.
2.1 Correlation between Music and IQ in children
In Canada, Schellenberg conducted a study on school children and college students and concluded that
those who took voice or piano lessons had higher IQ s at the end of the year than those who did not
(Munsey, 2006). Schellenberg also studied whether the effect of an increase in IQ would continue to
improve with more than a year s lessons and his most recent work has proven that this is in fact the
case. The study found that young adults who had taken music lessons in childhood did have higher IQ
s and better high school grades than people who didn t. He concluded that college students who had
played a musical instrument regularly as children were two points ahead in IQ compared to their

Good Business History and Background: Investors will forecast future earnings off of the historical
background of the company. It will also show that your company is stable. Many investors will be

They re a series of steps involved when issuing the initial public offering. The basic procedure in
Canada is as follows: 1. Management s first step before issuing securities to the public is to obtain
approval from the board of directors. This step requires a vote of the shareholder/shareholders. In this
initial phase, the company will create or update their business plan, select lawyers, auditors and
underwriters/agents. As well as review and strengthen internal systems, procedures, ensure that their
accounting policies and financial records are prepared for the required prospectus. This first phase is
crucial for the business to ensure that they are prepared to follow through with their IPO objectives. 2.

Persuasive Essay On Sports
Imagine a world without competition. Imagine a world where every student that couldn t solve a
simple math equation was accepted into an Ivy League school such as Harvard, or Yale. That wouldn t
be very safe now, would it? The student that we were counting on to create the next best medical
technology had no idea what they were doing because the only reason they got into the school was
that the dean didn t want to hurt anybody s feelings. Although this is a far stretch, this is the reality
people like Satasky in Children Need to Play, Not Compete wish could come true in today s children s
sports. Playing sports for 15 years of my life and competing competitively for 11 of them have done
nothing but good for me. Obviously, there have been hardships such trying my best to juggle sports
and my many other obligations without letting any of them fall beneath the other, but I did it, and I
owe it all to the many years of playing. Although children s sports are becoming increasingly
competitive, their parents are playing a major role in the risk of injury and other mental hardships,
such as their child being discouraged if they don t make the cut. However, the values the children
learn by playing competitively such as perseverance and the opportunities that they bring upon
themselves through hard work outweigh the disadvantages.
With playing a competitive sport at a young age comes great responsibility not only on the child but
the parent s end as well. The underline problem

Prospect Theory
Summary of the learning points (ranked by importance to you) Today s class discussed the mental
accounting for money management. 1. Prospect theory. The theory can be represented by a value
function, as shown below. The value function starts from a reference point, and is normally concave
for gains, and convex for losses. It is also steeper for losses than for gains. The theory intends to
explain why people behave irrationally when making choices. 2. Framing effect. It refers to the
difference in response to the same question represented in different ways. This technique is frequently
used in marketing ads campaign, such as PAD. 3. Sunk Cost effect. When people have put effort into
something, they are often ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Secondly, according to mental accounting, we assign value and goal for money in each account. We
also set aside some expected gain before we make any investment. As long as we meet our target, then
we can relocate the money for some other accounts. By investing money long term, we forgo the
opportunity to enjoy the gain in short term. (2) Gift card I just realized the gift card is another
combination of framing and sunk cost effect. Even though I received the gift card, I didn t pay for it,
whoever gave I to me did spend money in that store. There are two scenarios on how to spend the gift
card money. On one hand, I view it as free money and spend it on luxury items, which I would not
normally buy; usually I pay for the excess amount out of my own pocket. So I spend more than I
should. Or on the other hand, I forgot about the card. Most of the gift card has fine print which states
the expiration date. Lots of people do not notice this, and forgo the opportunity to claim the amount.
Money does not expire; gift card does. Framing enables the company to put a time limit on the

Henry David Thoreau s Walden and Aldo Leopold s A Sand County Almanac
While discussing Henry David Thoreau s Walden and Aldo Leopold s A Sand County Almanac, we
attempted to address an important challenge Is the close observation and description of nature merely
an idle thing for people in today s world? It could be suggested that nature writing and the close
enjoyment of natural environments is merely recreational and not intellectually, economically, or
politically worthy of our efforts. Perhaps this activity has spiritual value or gives us a sense of peace.
But does it really have anything to do with the way we live in the world today? It seems to me that this
question is central to the whole course of study and that we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Just learning to see and hear is difficult; but learning the language of nature requires work. It is no
trivial task.
None of this quite answers the challenge, above, though. Perhaps an inclusive view of nature is
difficult and non trivial, but it still might be construed as an idle fancy. How can we say that it is
important? Why is the expansion of our world view to a nature inclusive view a matter of importance.
Answering this challenge, I can only say that nature is our home place. Thus, life as our culture is
trying to live it, within its human centered self satisfied world is life dragged out into an alien
environment. Humans are natural creatures and they can be correctly observed and understood only
within the natural world. They need the whole context! In this sense, we go, like Thoreau, to observe
nature in order to observe ourselves in the truest sense. This is not only non trivial; it is also
indispensible. Humans must learn to see themselves truthfully.
It is too easy for us to say, Oh, I see nature in that way, all the time. After all, many of us watch nature
programs on The Learning Channel. That is why nature writing is such an important criterion. It is
learning to use language in the description and the celebration of nature that completes our world
journey. Language, as Jim Cheney has written, is performative. When I name a bird that I

Fifty Incidents In The Life Of A Slave Girl
Slavery offered blacks an era of misfortune, giving them a time of fear, pain, and absolute control
from the hands of a slave owner. There are countless stories, each with their own ballad of misery and,
in some rare occasions, victory in the form of freedom, but it was not as common. In Fifty Years in
Chains, a narrative written by Charles Ball, Ball states that most could be sold for a good price (Ball),
showing how human life, such as himself, was auctioned off like an object, rather than being treated
like a living being. In Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl, by Harriet A. Jacobs, Jacobs describes her
sad epoch in the life of a slave girl (Jacobs) and paints a picture of how her master, resorted to many
means to accomplish his

The Company Play Book The Operating Budget
Accounting is the language of business; the operating budget is the company play book for the coming
year. With the operating budget the company can forecast the overall health of the enterprise.
Management is able to foresee the financial strength of the company based on the sales revenue, Cost
of Goods Sold (COGS), the operation expense that then provides the budgeted income statement.
Although good management is required to ensure a company s fiscal health, the operation budget if
well planned is the actual path that will ensure success.
The operating budget is a part of the Master Budget. What makes it so important is that it contains the
projected operating net income for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Any variance in the COGS would be evaluated. The operations team generally is responsible for the
labor and material costs.
If the overhead both variable and fixed are not within the budget it would be the responsibility of the
accounting team to identify where the variance is coming from. Did the rent go up? Are we paying
higher commissions than was budgeted for? Some area s cannot be revised, but the sales price can be
adjusted quickly for future orders if the costs suddenly go up.
Having a plan book (operating budget) but not checking to ensure that all of the contributing factors
are aligned is irresponsible. The only way to ensure that the company is on budget is to balance the
books and ensure that the cost drivers are in line. To do this the department managers need to review
and ensure that actuals are in line with the standards calculated during the creation of the budget.
A budget variance is when the expected values are different from the actual values. A sales volume or
revenue variance is the responsibility of the Marketing department. A material cost variance is the
purchasing department (generally part of the operations team). A material efficiency variance is the
responsibility of the Production department. The direct labor cost variance is the Human Resource and
Production departments responsibility. The production department needs to ensure they are using the
right skill set for the job. The Human resource

2.3 Cluster Concept of Játékok Zongorára
The following discuss the related literature of György Kurtág, his Játékok Zongorára, and the adapted
cluster concept into other traditional teaching material.
2.3.1 Biography of György Kurtág
Játékok Zongorára is composed by György Kurtág, one of the most prominent Hungarian avant garde
composer and pianist. Kurtág was born in Lugoj, Romania in 1926 (Kennedy, Kennedy, Rutherford
Johnson, 2013, p. 471). He had witnessed the era of World War II (1939 1945), lived through Hungary
s communist regime (1949 1989) (Coelho, 2014, p. 1), and currently living in his nineties. He was a

Játékok Zongorára is well known with its distinctive characteristics in terms of pedagogy approach,
structure of composition, and the purpose of each movement. The value of play is attached important
by Kurtág in this composition series as it involves the use of body as a whole approach to play the
piano (Junttu, 2008). In addition, many of the extended piano technique such as glissandi and different
types of clusters are introduced in a daring way through his pieces in Játékok Zongorára as a holistic
modern piano pedagogy approach (Loffredo, 2009, p. 8). For the structure of composition, it could be
three types in overall: original miniature pieces, original normal pieces, reduction of past pieces from
other composers. The idea of homage in writing a music composition and the idea of keeping the
impact of traditional notation in the contemporary piano technique are remarkable (Johnson, 2002;
Loffredo, 2009)
2.3.3 Three Types of Tone Clusters
According to Barelos (n.d.), the term of tone clusters can be defined as large, dissonant chords or can
be as small as two adjacent keys played at the same time . The concept of the tone cluster as one of the
extended piano technique was invented by Henry Cowell (Barelos, n.d.; Kase, n.d.; Kase; 2001). It is
said that this idea was inspired by a pianist named Leo Ornstein (1892 2002) who was one of the first

Advantages And Disadvantages Of The Neolithic Revolution
1. The Neolithic revolution and the origins of agriculture caused a move from hunting/gathering to a
farming economy. Discuss the social disadvantages of this transition. In what ways did it promote
social inequality? The Neolithic revolution had a big impact on the society. However, instead of
focusing on the good, as follow are some social disadvantages of this big transition. To start with,
agriculture is considered much harder work than hunter gathering is, and individuals had to work
much longer hours farming. This reduced the land availability for living on by handing it to farmers. It
reduced space for wild animals and plants, which were used for food, meaning that, the fauna was

Skeletons of women from this era show that many women suffered worse health than men. The results
showed that women had more bone lesions than man did (Gerards). This transition also led to the

fighting amongst people, fighting over land ownership and people wanting to control everything,
which the making of arms and new technologies began causing more pollution. All these are social
inequality examples causing some people to get more rights and different treatments between the
ranks and social statues. The elite groups were able to form and live off the labor of others this led to
power structures and inequality. According to researcher Jan Gerards, one big example of social
inequality caused by the Neolithic revolution was skeletons of royals found in Greek Mycenaean

Contraction was characterized by forward trunk, bowed head, drooping shoulders, and sunken chest.
Studies have identified postural behavior with personality types and ways of life, for example
relaxation, assertiveness, and restraint; and have noted the correlation of certain kinds of movement in
sleeping and waking acts. Posture is a substantial marker of feminine and masculine behavior. The
relationship of posture to sex gestures is obvious in the stereotypes in U.S. advertising. Posture is an

Nelson Mandela, A Brief History and Impact
MEETING THE GREAT MAN Nelson Mandela 1918 2013 I have fought against white domination,

After a democratic poll, they began preparations for an armed fight, creating The Umkhonto we Sizwe
(Spear of the nation) also known as MK, a group of fighters that believed South Africa belonged to
everyone who lived there, and not just for a group of black and white people. Real leaders must be
ready to sacrifice all for the freedom of their people. With the name David Motsomayi, on January 11,

gain support for the armed battle, but he was detained by two guards from Howick on August 5 when
he was returning from KwaZuu Natal. He had to complete a 5 year sentence for leaving the country

The financial system has been crucial to the role of free enterprise. Financial markets have come to
supply non financial corporations with mechanisms for managing their risks and for comparing and
evaluating diverse investment opportunities in a highly complex global economy (Cindin, 2008).
However, despite the lifetimes it took to build our financial institutions, bad luck and careless risk
management have jeopardized careers and mortgaged these institutions futures (Wallace, 2008). The
nation is currently attempting to deal with the biggest financial crisis since the Great Depression. It is
now imperative that a way be found which will re regulate finance without undermining finance s ...

The ongoing plunge in bank capital is already forcing banks to significantly cut back on outstanding
loans, and businesses plans for major investment projects are being scaled back. These capital losses
are resulting in financial institutions going bankrupt or merging with stronger banks. Financial
services companies have cut more than one hundred thousand jobs this year and deeper layoffs may
come (Berenson, 2008). Even while cutting back on long term loans seems to be unbearable, short
term loans pose a greater threat to the survival of the financial system. The fourth and final threat
facing our economy is the necessity of short term loans. In an effort to reestablish tangible capital,
banks are beginning to cut back on short term loans. If the short term commercial paper and money
markets were to break down, the economy could go into a severe collapse because solvent and
profitable businesses would be unable to attract working capital (Sachs, 2008). This kind of collapse

story is written through Eli s eyes. The writer uses the first person point of view writing style to allow
the reader to gain an insight into Eli s thoughts. It also allows the reader to follow him through other
experiences he goes on without his brother. This writing style allows you to feel as if you are in Eli s

Being In A Wheelchair Research Paper
My parents had planned an fantastic trip to Alaska, but then I broke my leg. My first experience with
being in a wheelchair was not what I expected. In the past I had been narrow minded and thought that
being in a wheelchair had its perks. For instance they got to go the front of the line of a roller coaster,
they get to sit all day, and lastly they get accommodated first. However, it wasn t until I lived that
lifestyle, did I realize that being in a wheelchair is hard, and uncomftorable. As we approached the
airplane gate, I was wheeled to the entrance where I noticed how narrow and tiny the entrance to the
airplane really was. The doorway, not to mention the aisle was so narrow that the wheelchair could not
be boarded upon the plane. Luckily

The Three Levels of Obedience to Maria Montessori
The Three Levels of Obedience
Julia B. Kulakowski
Montessori Institute of San Diego
The three levels of obedience are explained by Dr. Maria Montessori after long observations of
children of multiple ages in her classroom. She defines the three of obedience as first, an ability to
obey, but not all the time. Secondly an ability to obey at all times after developing their own will.
Finally being able to obey consistently, moreover to follow another person which the child has
deemed superior to them self. Obedience is commonly defined as acting in accordance with the will of
another person. She determined that children have an inherent force within them, termed Horme: a
vital internal impulse to act upon ones ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Further still is the third level of obedience in which the child not only obeys with consistency, but also
finds in another person (typically an adult) superiority and follows, unfaltering, the other persons will.
The child has reached total control over their own will and trusts the adult implicitly. Dr. Montessori
has explained with examples of the Silence Game as a means of measuring this final level obedience.
In her explanation she explores how not only do the children obey the signal given for the game
(writing Silence on the blackboard), but know before the teacher has even completed writing the S
what is coming and immediately go silent. It only takes one child s first movement to stop what they
are doing and the rest of the class almost instantaneously quiets. She also explains how it involves the
cooperation of the entire group. Without collectively becoming silent the game is not won. This
development takes practice on the part of the child and discipline in restraining oneself on the part of
the Guide. The trust created during this development creates a different form of responsibility. In this
level of obedience the responsibility of the Guide is exponentially increased as her first movement is
not only witnessed, but implicitly obeyed. This responsibility must be felt and respected by the Guide.
For (Montessori, 1995) she must be cautious not to exploit for her own ends so selfless a dedication
(p. 262). This game and

Assessment And Summative Assessment
An assessment is the process of gathering, interpreting and recording information about the students
and reflects on the information gathered to make effective decisions in the future to improve the
learning process.
Assessments is a vital part of our curriculum planning of lessons. It is something connected to the
teaching and learning process. It has an important role to play in deciding the levels of achievement
within the school. Effective assessments provide information to improve the teaching and learning
process. It is also important to give feedback on the student s learning progress, so that they
understand where they went wrong and areas where the student is supposed to work on.
There are three types of assessment, they are diagnostic assessment, formative assessment and
summative assessments.

Examples of summative assessments are tests, assignments and projects. The tests, assignments, or
projects are used to determine whether students have learned what they were expected to learn.
Through summative assessments the teacher can determine whether and to what degree the students
have learned the material taught to them.
Almost every teacher keeps track and records of summative assessments mainly because it showcases
a student s understanding level through grading at the end of a learning session. But it is also
important to keep track and records of formative assessments too because it is done during the
learning process. Record keeping and tracking down the results of assessments is a very important part
of a teacher s role. Schools and teachers keep records of assessments for the purpose of teaching and
enhancing the learning process. Teachers need to keep effective records for every student. It allows
both the teacher and learner to reassess the teaching and learning

The Phenomenon Of Stereotypes
The phenomenon of superheroes has been around for many years, and often features many examples
of strength, courage, bravery and power. Their popularity among society has led to many studies in
which academia examines the portrayals of these heroines and the impact that they have through
media on children and society today. Individuals argue that the superheroes lack an equal share of
gender representation and portrayal in texts and are often nonexistent altogether. However, others also
argue that there are exceptions and that constant advocacy and knowledge of gender misrepresentation
and stereotypes among media can account for change. These different arguments can be seen through
a number of pieces including, Sexed Up Starfire Doesn t Sit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Authors, publishers and other academia such as Michelle Lee and Carol A. Stabile, are two examples
of individuals who strongly advocate for the lack of female representation and the overpowering
gender roles among superheroes and heroines today. These women argue that the lessons and body
images portrayed in the phenomena of superheroes are disrespectful and degrading towards women.
Michelle Lee gives a specific example, referencing the reboot of character Starfire from the Teen Titan
series. Lee points out the differences between the old and revamped Starfire, while making reference
to a concern among a large majority of society the children watching and reading these texts. Lee goes
on to write about a discussion with her daughter, proving that children are very much aware of the
sexualization of these female heroines. When Lee asked her daughter about the new Starfire her
daughter was quick to comment on the differences, noting that she s not fighting anymore. And not
talking to anyone really. She s just almost naked and posing (Lee, 2011). As Lee continues on to
discuss the conversation between herself and her daughter, she notes that the old Starfire, respectfully
dressed and ready to spring into action was a much better superhero and that she s a great role model.
She tells people they can be good friends and super powerful and fight for good, (Lee, 2011). Lee s
article shows that children can understand complex ideas such as gender roles and inequalities and that
the portrayals of these female superheroes does not go unnoticed by the younger generations. This
notion goes to show that the messages of beauty and the body images in these texts can be decoded in
a number of different ways, some of which can teach children positive messages and some of which
can be negative. Lee s daughter is

Female Circumcision
The western world has a very bad wrap when it comes to looking at foreign practices objectively; so it
s really up for debate whether or not female genital mutilation is a morally sound practice. Afterall,
why does anyone in America have the right to judge this practice or to intervene, especially with the
presence of male circumcision in our own culture? The means by which they received these
circumcisions however, are totally different than a third world countries female genital circumcision
procedure. Male circumcision is largely done in a clean, organized and safe environment while female
circumcision is done mostly in third world countries without the capability/tools necessary to create

Adolescence is filled with physical and emotional changes, along with ones search for their identity.
Divorce during this time can have a strong affect on an adolescent who is still trying to find
themselves. Teenagers need to have a secure foundation to grow and mature, but divorce can alter that.
A child or teen should not have to think about their parents lives. Divorce can be very unsettling;
changing the primary relationship between adolescent and adult. Divorce may change the child or
teens relationship with extended family members. For a child or teen, divorce is a hard situation to
deal with. As one teenager said when asked what divorce is; It is like having your whole life flushed
down a toilet and as it swirls downward you are powerless to do anything about it .
Spiritual Effect
In the United States (U.S.), the divorce rate for first marriages is about 50 percent and for second
marriages it s about 60 percent. An estimated one million American children live through the divorce
of their parents every year. For those estimated one million American children, in general, they will
have a more difficult time with religion and a relationship with God. Those children often describe
themselves as spiritual or as involved in organized religion as others, but the truth is that they are more
often far less involve in organized religion activities. Children of divorce may have a hard time

the issue of Bahamians having too much of an attachment to the United States was brought forth. She
successfully integrated this satirical tone to exemplify a very poignant point where many feel that if
America sneezes we catch the flu. She feels that we re way too attached; is that because we have to

People may think that social classes may have an effect on how people are treated and what
relationships they have, others may believe it has to do with success. The way people are treated can
be based on anything from their beliefs, relationships, succeeds, and most importantly where they
belong in the social classes. It is very important what relationships you have and how others treat you
based on your class because it sets your reputation. No matter what traits you have, who you know,
where you come from, your class is very important and can play a big role in someone s life. A person
s social class can change from being in the lower to a higher class, however it can also change from

bourgeoisie. The novel shows who belongs to each class, why they belong there, and the consequences
they face. Both Mariam and Nana are in the lower class, however Jalil is in the upper class.

Essential Concepts About Commercial Banks And The...
In current intensely competitive economic market, banking plays an extremely significant role because
it not only enhances economic development, but also provides valuable services to the whole country
(Cv, 2015). Banks accept deposits from savers and lend these deposits to those who need them by
generating financial products such as mortgages and loans. Based on Boatright s perspective, even
though banks are different in size and nature owing to both historical and geographical factors, they
can be broadly defined as financial institutions that perform as a bridge connecting savers and
borrowers throughout providing valuable financial products and services (Boatright, 2010). The object
of this paper is to briefly explain some essential concepts about commercial banks and the
corresponding ethical issues derived from these concepts. There are various types of banks depending
on the area they specialize in, including central banks, commercial banks, investing banks, and retail
banks and so on (Boatright, 2010). This paper focuses on commercial banks, which deal with a variety
of business activities and maintain the core of being financial intermediation (Boatright, 2010). As a
financial intermediation, banks generate profits for all savers, borrowers and themselves by applying
interest rate on both deposits and loans. To have enough money for lending, banks pay savers interest

Preparing Regular Education Teachers For Address The...
Preparing regular education teachers to address the diverse needs of children with special needs in
inclusive set up.
Rationale
Sri Lanka has accepted inclusive education as a policy which shows different education reforms.
Education reforms in 1997 supported the philosophy and practice of Inclusive Education. According
to the concept of inclusive education, the responsibility of addressing the needs of all children has to
be taken by regular education teachers. But the issues of addressing the diversity in the class room has
not been addressed in teacher education programmes which develops a large number of teachers come
into the education system. Spratt (2013) pointed out that teachers are not sufficiently prepared to
address the student differences in school which is relevant to the Sri Lankan context. Alwis, (2000)
and NEC (2003) highlight that there are no special strategies designed for the students with special
needs in mainstream schools and classes and that therefore teachers in Sri Lanka are unable to cater to
the requirements of children with special needs. However teachers cannot address issues related to
diversity with the knowledge that they posses and the consequences will ultimately go to the children
with special needs who are included in the regular class rooms. If teachers are equipped well, it may
influence them to address the needs of children with special educational needs. According to Booth et
al (2003) the way the teachers are empowered

What Is The Mood Of Heart Of Darkness Imperialism
Situate passage into the plot of the story. Marlow has just come across a part of Thames which he
refers to as a part of darkness too. Conrad had just went on to list a lot of English seamen before
Marlow does. Marlow refers to the knights Conrad speaks of as no colonists but as conquerers which
is nothing to brag about, This is in stark contrast to what the narrator of the book had just finished
stating, thus suggesting that the narrator is the average persoective while Marlow expresses Conrad s
true thoughts. Moreover, Marlow describes what he dislikes so much about these conquerers and even
makes his opinion clear: that we shouldn t classify people as brutes just because they look different
from us.
Including Conrad s arguably most memorable line ( The conquest of the earth [...] is not a pretty thing
when you look into it too much, ) this passage conveys the contrast between the illusion the public had
of colonialism in the Congo with the reality. Earlier in the book, Conrad went on to list various great
knights who were the English imperialists, thus glamorizing the way in which Europeans colonized all
of Europe. Furthermore, the passage emphasizes that the colonialists had been abusive and brutal
towards people who were just like them apart from having a different complexion and slightly flatter

Essay about Feminist Ideas the Screwball Comedy Film Genre
The Screwball comedy is a film genre that found its way onto the screens in the early 1930s and lasted
till the early 1940s. They were a consequence of the newly adapted censorship law in 1934 that
restricted addressing adult content on screen. They therefore incorporated more comedic and creative
ways of symbolizing topics such as sex and homosexuality. Screwball comedies were mainly based on
plots that had conflict between social classes as their many premise and always had a happy ending
which was almost always marriage. This consistent maintenance of the status quo of marriage is a
major aspect of feminism depicted in screwball comedies (Heather 26). While advocating for

What Is The Thorns In The Scarlet Letter A
My project consists of a cake garnished with the red letter A. The A is divided by two contradictory
ideas. The initial fraction of the cake has black frosting and a red A on it. The A has thorns around it,
showing the immoral part of the letter. The opposite half of the cake has white frosting and a red A and
is ornamented with roses instead of barbs. The relationship I am showing by including the two halves
of the A is how the idea of the letter changed throughout the book. At first, the letter, and Hester are
perceived as sinful, evil, and a smear on Puritan culture. But once Hester becomes a giver in her
community, she becomes one who the Puritans regard as being an angel or able. I took advantage of
the roses, thorns, and the opposition between black and white, to show how this change happens. ...

while at the same time its thorns show the pain of the prisoners in the prison. I used the thorns in the
first half to show how Hester is in more sadness at the beginning because she is being criticized so
sternly by everybody around her. I used the roses in the second half though to demonstrate how Hester
gains hope because of her transformed image. In addition, I chose black and white as the frosting
colors of the halves to show how contrasting these two meanings of the letter are. I chose black and
white because black is more of a sinful color, which shows how society looks at Hester and only sees
her sin through the first parts of the book. White is purer and shows how Hester becomes a symbol of
purity to the town, and the A is changed to mean angel instead of an adulterer or a sinner. First, the A
viewed as very sinful and evil, and then more

Bohemian Research Paper
Many free spirited people, also known as Bohemians , get dreadlocks as a way to passively express
their beliefs of social justice and nonconformity. Before the rise of the hippie movement, Rastafarians
dreadlocked their hair strictly for religious and traditional reasons, but now, thanks to Bohemianism,
dreadlocks are used as a way to convey their hope for a less judgemental society. The term Bohemian
emerged in France in the early nineteenth century when artist, musicians, and writers began to focus
their work on the common people who lived in the lower rent, lower class, Romani neighborhoods.
These people were mistakenly thought to have come from the country of Bohemia, a region
encompassing the western Czech Republic, because of their unique appearance and unconventional
social motives. Bohemianism is derivative of the hippie counterculture movement of the 1960 s and

Nature And Nurture In Lord Of The Flies
A feral child (also, colloquially, wild child) is a human child who has lived isolated from human
contact from a very young age, and has no (or little) experience of human care. It is said that feral
children are the real life experiment that we cannot ethically carry out. They question what the
defining factors in human nature are and furthermore how much society impacts on our personalities.
The texts I have chosen are Romulus and Remus (Roman myth), The Girl with no Name by Lynne
Barret Lee, The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling and Lord of the flies by William Golding. All four
texts propose that the experiences we have as a child are the most significant ones in making us who
we are. Most texts discuss the idea of Nature Versus Nurture Nature and nurture relates to the inherent
qualities (nature) as opposed to personal experiences (nurture). In the 1954 classic Lord of the Flies,
Golding slowly shapes the boys and leads the reader from a group of civilized young boys into true
savages. Golding uses a metaphor to compare [Jack s] laughter to the bloodthirsty snarling of an
animal. This demonstrates to the reader Jack s descent into barbarism and we question whether he is
more human or wild animal. The text is written in an omniscient third person so it is easy to see the
boy s predicament, What are we? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

What Does The Green Light Symbolize In The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby
F. Scott Fitzgerald incorporates many different symbols into his novel, The Great Gatsby, to add
meaning and depth to the story. Even the most subdued symbols can hold a very important meaning to
the overall storyline. Three symbols that are subtle, yet important include: the green light, the Valley

significance to the story.
The first time the green light is introduced in the novel is also the first time Nick notices Gatsby. The
green light at the end of the dock represents Gatsby s hopes and dreams of being with Daisy, which
seem to be out of reach. His longing for Daisy is also a longing for the past. When Gatsby desires

Deadly Sniper Research Paper
Snipers have a reputation for being deadly, but some rise above the rest when it comes time to kill,
These 10 deadliest snipers in all of history were so good that they were straight up bad (to the bone).
Grab your bulletproof vest, make sure no one is watching, and check out the full list below!
Number Ten: Zhang Taofang.
Zhang Taofang scored between 71 and 214 kills in the Korean war and is easily China s most
celebrated sniper. According to some sources, he was able to make these kills in just over the span of
one month.
Number Nine: Chris Kyle.
Kyle is the United States most famous sniper of all time. He wrote a critically acclaimed
autobiography about his time being a sniper and was even the subject of a hit film. Kyle spent most ...

He scored more than 200 confirmed kills, all of Turkish soldiers. Interestingly, Sing was one of the
few multiracial soldiers in Australia s army.
Number Seven: Josef Sepp Allerberger.
Though paying compliments to Nazi Germany isn t something we intend to do every day, we can t
help but commend one of their snipers. Allerberger was recruited early in World War II and was
eventually sent east to battle the Soviet army. He was able to score a whopping 257 confirmed kills.
Number Six: Craig Harrison.
Harrison is a British marksman that holds the record for the farthest sniper kill ever recorded. He
joined the service at the age of 16 and, in 2009, killed two Taliban shooters from a distance of one and
a half miles. Unfortunately, he later suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Number Five: Matthaus Hetzenauer.
Hetzenauer scored 345 confirmed kills during his time in the German service. He later became a
P.O.W., but he was finally able to return to Austria later on.
Number Four: Lyudmila Pavlichenko.
Nearly one million women served in the Red Army during WWII, and Pavlichenko was one of them.
She became the Red Army s top female sniper with a mind boggling 309 kills. She was nicknamed
Lady Death by the western

How Does Steinbeck Present Curley s Wife In Of Mice And Men
In Of Mice And Men Curley s wife is the most hopeless and misserable character in the story. She has
no future as she is stuck with her former husband (Curley) who hates her leaving his sight, she has no
friends as she is the only woman on the ranch and Curley will not allow her socializ with the men
because he feels that they would steel her, and she has no respect from anyone on the ranch because
why should they; She gets the men in trouble just by looking at them because well lets face it shes
made out to be a whore who is stunningly beautiful, why wouldnt you look; she doesn t even withhold
a name (which isnt even mentioned within the story) She is just known as Curleys wife because she is
his possesion, his property. I truly feel frustrated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lennie for this circumstance is classed as a bear, giving us a feeling of manliness and brutness. Such
portrayal of bear like activities would be the crusing and smashing of Curley s hand.Curley s small
masculine hands are no match for Lennie s solid, strong, bear like paws thus giving us the result of
Curleys puvled hand. Lennie is an extremely sensitive boy who watches over his best friend and lover,
to add he has an etremely terrible temper. He gets uncannily hyped up just thinking about having a pet
rabbit or puppy, not to mention being aloud to have a one. Yet Lennie is incredibly strong and cannot
comprehend this. He doesnt perceive to be scary or frightening to anyone except for Curley. Curley
despises Lennie, in light of the fact that he couldn t care less for tremendous huge men and really
makes a joke of him because of his mental capacity and simple needs. Such bear like expressions are:
Dragging his feet a little as a bear would drag his paws . Yet this isn t the only creature Lennie is
implied to be, other cases include, being solid as a bull. This reliable constant use of symbolism shows
us Lennie s affection and commitment for creatures he could call his own for example: rabbits, mice,
and puppies. This makes us aware of how animal and to some degree child like Lennie really

Secondly it may cause severe personnel problems for Max who already lacks confidence in himself
and in his colleagues. Again I find myself in strong agreement with Person s and Porath s view on
Max, their idea of enrolling Max in training programs is especially appealing. I think this would
benefit greatly to his confidence which I think is the real underlying issue and has a direct effect on his
behaviour. He feels he cannot trust anyone and so acts in a hostile way always keeping to himself and
never bothering to appear refined or interested in his colleagues opinions. Furthermore it is essential to
address employees like Nicole. Her rumours and constant gossip have become a hindrance to
employee performance, Tabor should organise a meeting to tackle these issues. The meeting should
also address Paige, George and Sam s concerns regarding Max s behaviour. In addition she should
issue a warning to Nicole in relation to her inclination to exaggerate, for example, when it appears
Paige and the others become concerned she does nothing to console their fear, instead she confirms it
by adding I m not so crazy after all, am I? I m telling you, Max is on the edge. And I don t want to end
up another statistic. This type of behaviour has to stop or Lynn Tabor will eventually face a serious
problem. Lynn

The Musculoskeletal System Is Under The Control Of The...
The Musculoskeletal system is under the control of the nervous system and is responsible for human
movement; this is comprised of the skeletal and muscular system, with the human body containing
640 skeletal muscles (Watkins 2010). Skeletal muscle is made up of muscle fibres (myofibres) and
contain multiple nuclei; within the cytoplasm of these cells, there are long chains of myfibrils which
are chains of many sarcomeres and these run from end to end of the muscle. Sarcomeres are
comprised of thin and thick bands of proteins called actin and myosin; which overlap when a muscle
contraction occurs; shortening the sarcomere (Edmiston 2012). Muscle contractions are stimulated by
motor neurons; these carry information from the central nervous ... Show more content on

The variables being discussed in this report are the percentage of peak power decrease (in the
quadriceps) between repeated sprints and either active or passive recovery; from this, two major
questions arise; Is the percentage decrease in peak power on a repeated sprint significantly different
between subject groups who completed an active recovery or a passive recovery? And what are the
physiological mechanisms that cause a decrease in peak power to occur? The following alternative
hypothesis will therefore be tested, to determine if; there is a significant difference in the decrease of
peak power between repeated sprints where subjects complete either an active or passive recovery and
the following null hypothesis has been set, predicting that; there is no significant difference in peak
power decrease between repeated sprints where either an active or passive recovery technique was
used.
Subjects and Ethics
To take part in the study subjects were required to give written consent; approved by researchers at the
university, who carried out risk assessments prior to the study; part of this was reminding subjects that
they were able to withdraw at any time if they felt like they could not physically continue with the
study and participants with any leg injuries did not take part. Participant information such as age,
gender and weight and thigh circumference were

  • 3. The Career Of Becoming A Doctor Essay The career that I have chosen to pursue is an Internist (General Physician). In kindergarten, Mrs.Knowles asked, What do you want to be when you grow up ? My answer was to become a doctor; little did I know that career goal would stick with me for the rest of my life. Growing up, seeing my mother and godmother on their way to becoming medical assistants began to enhance my interest in the medical field.Skimming through their textbooks amazed me on how the human body is so complex yet so captivating. Getting accepted to Hillcrest High School s Pre Med Program made me ecstatic. The rigorous science and advanced mathematics courses were beginning to prepare me for my future endeavours. My academic interest in becoming a doctor was evident, but soon, there was an emotional connection. August 31, 2015 is a day I will never forget. My mom had just gotten into a car accident; there were a million thoughts and emotions rushing through me. Arriving at the hospital, I was scared but anxious to see her. When I walked into the room, tears immediately came to my eyes seeing her in a neck brace. Initially, I thought she was in stable condition because she only complained only about a slight back pain. What happened a few moments after she said those words will never be erased from my mind. My mother had a seizure right before my eyes. The doctors rushed in as I remained speechless; it felt as if everything around me was moving but I could not hear a thing. It was a tough night ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Children Of God Through Faith Beginning in 3:26, the NIV and NRSV translates, for you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. Here the word children translates in the Greek, téknon which means a child, descendant, inhabitant. Téknon properly, a child; (figuratively) anyone living in full dependence on the heavenly Father, i.e. fully (willingly) relying upon the Lord in glad submission. This prompts God to transform them into His likeness. The NKJV translates, for you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. This word son translates in the Greek, hyiós. It emphasizes likeness of the believer to the heavenly Father, i.e. resembling His character more and more by living in faith. The choice of the word son may be in part because during biblical times a son was considered the inheritor of land, property, and family wealth. Daughters were not typically ones to inherit anything. Further, each of the three translations uses the word all . The word all in the Greek translates, pas . Pás ( each, every ) means all in the sense of each (every) part that applies. The emphasis of the total picture then is on one piece at a time. By all it is not excluding anyone or singling out one group of people (as described in 3:28). Cultural Background In Judaism circumcision is performed on the eight day of the male child s life in accordance with God s command and as a sign of the covenant between God and the descendants of Abraham. Introduction This project investigates the effect which the playing of a musical instrument namely the drums has on one s intelligence and academic ability. A search of the literature reveals that studies of this kind have been conducted by other researchers in many parts of the world and has led to the conclusion that music is an extremely healthy activity to be involved in. A study conducted on school children in America concluded that children who took voice or piano lessons had higher IQ s at the end of the year than those who did not (Munsey, 2006). Dye (2012) reinforces this, stating that scientific research shows that studying music improves school performance. Gaser and Schlaug (2003) showed that musicians learn advanced ... A few studies on the effect of drum lessons on brain development are also considered. 2.1 Correlation between Music and IQ in children In Canada, Schellenberg conducted a study on school children and college students and concluded that those who took voice or piano lessons had higher IQ s at the end of the year than those who did not (Munsey, 2006). Schellenberg also studied whether the effect of an increase in IQ would continue to improve with more than a year s lessons and his most recent work has proven that this is in fact the case. The study found that young adults who had taken music lessons in childhood did have higher IQ s and better high school grades than people who didn t. The theory can be represented by a value function, as shown below. The value function starts from a reference point, and is normally concave for gains, and convex for losses. It is also steeper for losses than for gains. The theory intends to explain why people behave irrationally when making choices. 2. Framing effect. We also set aside some expected gain before we make any investment. As long as we meet our target, then we can relocate the money for some other accounts. Even though I received the gift card, I didn t pay for it, whoever gave I to me did spend money in that store. There are two scenarios on how to spend the gift card money. On one hand, I view it as free money and spend it on luxury items, which I would not normally buy; usually I pay for the excess amount out of my own pocket. So I spend more than I should. Or on the other hand, I forgot about the card. Most of the gift card has fine print which states the expiration date. Lots of people do not notice this, and forgo the opportunity to claim the amount. Henry David Thoreau s Walden and Aldo Leopold s A Sand County Almanac While discussing Henry David Thoreau s Walden and Aldo Leopold s A Sand County Almanac, we attempted to address an important challenge Is the close observation and description of nature merely an idle thing for people in today s world? It could be suggested that nature writing and the close enjoyment of natural environments is merely recreational and not intellectually, economically, or politically worthy of our efforts. Perhaps this activity has spiritual value or gives us a sense of peace. But does it really have anything to do with the way we live in the world today? It seems to me that this question is central to the whole course of study and that we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Just learning to see and hear is difficult; but learning the language of nature requires work. It is no trivial task. None of this quite answers the challenge, above, though. Perhaps an inclusive view of nature is difficult and non trivial, but it still might be construed as an idle fancy. How can we say that it is important? Why is the expansion of our world view to a nature inclusive view a matter of importance. Answering this challenge, I can only say that nature is our home place. Thus, life as our culture is trying to live it, within its human centered self satisfied world is life dragged out into an alien environment. Humans are natural creatures and they can be correctly observed and understood only within the natural world. They need the whole context! In this sense, we go, like Thoreau, to observe nature in order to observe ourselves in the truest sense. This is not only non trivial; it is also indispensible. Humans must learn to see themselves truthfully. It is too easy for us to say, Oh, I see nature in that way, all the time. After all, many of us watch nature programs on The Learning Channel. That is why nature writing is such an important criterion. It is learning to use language in the description and the celebration of nature that completes our world journey. With the operating budget the company can forecast the overall health of the enterprise. Any variance in the COGS would be evaluated. The operations team generally is responsible for the labor and material costs. If the overhead both variable and fixed are not within the budget it would be the responsibility of the accounting team to identify where the variance is coming from. Did the rent go up? Are we paying higher commissions than was budgeted for? Some area s cannot be revised, but the sales price can be adjusted quickly for future orders if the costs suddenly go up. Having a plan book (operating budget) but not checking to ensure that all of the contributing factors are aligned is irresponsible. The only way to ensure that the company is on budget is to balance the books and ensure that the cost drivers are in line. To do this the department managers need to review and ensure that actuals are in line with the standards calculated during the creation of the budget. Discuss the social disadvantages of this transition. In what ways did it promote social inequality? The Neolithic revolution had a big impact on the society. However, instead of focusing on the good, as follow are some social disadvantages of this big transition. To start with, agriculture is considered much harder work than hunter gathering is, and individuals had to work much longer hours farming. Financial markets have come to supply non financial corporations with mechanisms for managing their risks and for comparing and evaluating diverse investment opportunities in a highly complex global economy (Cindin, 2008). However, despite the lifetimes it took to build our financial institutions, bad luck and careless risk management have jeopardized careers and mortgaged these institutions futures (Wallace, 2008). The nation is currently attempting to deal with the biggest financial crisis since the Great Depression. The ongoing plunge in bank capital is already forcing banks to significantly cut back on outstanding loans, and businesses plans for major investment projects are being scaled back. These capital losses are resulting in financial institutions going bankrupt or merging with stronger banks. Financial services companies have cut more than one hundred thousand jobs this year and deeper layoffs may come (Berenson, 2008). Even while cutting back on long term loans seems to be unbearable, short term loans pose a greater threat to the survival of the financial system. The fourth and final threat facing our economy is the necessity of short term loans. In an effort to reestablish tangible capital, banks are beginning to cut back on short term loans. If the short term commercial paper and money markets were to break down, the economy could go into a severe collapse because solvent and profitable businesses would be unable to attract working capital (Sachs, 2008). This kind of collapse in financial liquidity is the basic reason why the United States economy fell by around twenty five percent during the Great Depression (Sachs, 2008). Already, some of the biggest names on Wall Street have disappeared into thin air. Some attempts have been made to bring liquidity back to financial institutions. In an effort to avoid an ... Response On The Sisters Brothers The Sisters Brothers Novel Response Throughout the novel, The Sisters Brothers by Patrick Dewitt, the two brothers, Eli and Charlie, are shown as complete opposites in their personalities. This results in one being likable and the other detestable. Eli is a more likable character than Charlie since the reader has more access to Eli s emotions as the story is written through Eli s eyes. The writer uses the first person point of view writing style to allow the reader to gain an insight into Eli s thoughts. It also allows the reader to follow him through other experiences he goes on without his brother. This writing style allows you to feel as if you are in Eli s head. During their journey to California, Eli meets a woman who he fancies. They enter her room and she beg[ins] looking at the door as if wishing to leave. Come sit beside me, I said. • 22. The Three Levels of Obedience to Maria Montessori The Three Levels of Obedience Julia B. Kulakowski Montessori Institute of San Diego The three levels of obedience are explained by Dr. Maria Montessori after long observations of children of multiple ages in her classroom. She defines the three of obedience as first, an ability to obey, but not all the time. Secondly an ability to obey at all times after developing their own will. Finally being able to obey consistently, moreover to follow another person which the child has deemed superior to them self. Obedience is commonly defined as acting in accordance with the will of another person. Further still is the third level of obedience in which the child not only obeys with consistency, but also finds in another person (typically an adult) superiority and follows, unfaltering, the other persons will. The child has reached total control over their own will and trusts the adult implicitly. Dr. Montessori has explained with examples of the Silence Game as a means of measuring this final level obedience. In her explanation she explores how not only do the children obey the signal given for the game (writing Silence on the blackboard), but know before the teacher has even completed writing the S what is coming and immediately go silent. It only takes one child s first movement to stop what they are doing and the rest of the class almost instantaneously quiets. She also explains how it involves the cooperation of the entire group. Without collectively becoming silent the game is not won. This development takes practice on the part of the child and discipline in restraining oneself on the part of the Guide. The trust created during this development creates a different form of responsibility. In this level of obedience the responsibility of the Guide is exponentially increased as her first movement is not only witnessed, but implicitly obeyed. This responsibility must be felt and respected by the Guide. For (Montessori, 1995) she must be cautious not to exploit for her own ends so selfless a dedication (p. 262). This game and ... Lee points out the differences between the old and revamped Starfire, while making reference to a concern among a large majority of society the children watching and reading these texts. Lee goes on to write about a discussion with her daughter, proving that children are very much aware of the sexualization of these female heroines. When Lee asked her daughter about the new Starfire her daughter was quick to comment on the differences, noting that she s not fighting anymore. And not talking to anyone really. She s just almost naked and posing (Lee, 2011). She tells people they can be good friends and super powerful and fight for good, (Lee, 2011). Lee s article shows that children can understand complex ideas such as gender roles and inequalities and that the portrayals of these female superheroes does not go unnoticed by the younger generations. The texts I have chosen are Romulus and Remus (Roman myth), The Girl with no Name by Lynne Barret Lee, The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling and Lord of the flies by William Golding. All four texts propose that the experiences we have as a child are the most significant ones in making us who we are. Most texts discuss the idea of Nature Versus Nurture Nature and nurture relates to the inherent qualities (nature) as opposed to personal experiences (nurture). In the 1954 classic Lord of the Flies, Golding slowly shapes the boys and leads the reader from a group of civilized young boys into true savages. Golding uses a metaphor to compare [Jack s] laughter to the bloodthirsty snarling of an animal. This demonstrates to the reader Jack s descent into barbarism and we question whether he is more human or wild animal. The text is written in an omniscient third person so it is easy to see the boy s predicament, What are we? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The prologue, written by Vanessa James (Chapman s daughter), says that Chapman had always been our monkey mummy . Because the prologue was written by Chapman s daughter, the audience can easily see that her children had an unconventional upbringing whether it be showing [the children] her favourite edible plants in the forest to picking things out of each other s hair at night . These are clearly simian references that Chapman had acquired over her 5 or so years with the monkeys as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. What Does The Green Light Symbolize In The Great Gatsby The Great Gatsby F. Scott Fitzgerald incorporates many different symbols into his novel, The Great Gatsby, to add meaning and depth to the story. Even the most subdued symbols can hold a very important meaning to the overall storyline. Three symbols that are subtle, yet important include: the green light, the Valley of Ashes, and the eyes of Doctor T.J. Eckleburg. Each of these symbols hold their own meaning and significance to the story. The first time the green light is introduced in the novel is also the first time Nick notices Gatsby. The green light at the end of the dock represents Gatsby s hopes and dreams of being with Daisy, which seem to be out of reach. His longing for Daisy is also a longing for the past. When Gatsby desires Daisy, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He scored more than 200 confirmed kills, all of Turkish soldiers. Interestingly, Sing was one of the few multiracial soldiers in Australia s army. Number Seven: Josef Sepp Allerberger. Though paying compliments to Nazi Germany isn t something we intend to do every day, we can t help but commend one of their snipers. Allerberger was recruited early in World War II and was eventually sent east to battle the Soviet army. He was able to score a whopping 257 confirmed kills. Number Six: Craig Harrison. Harrison is a British marksman that holds the record for the farthest sniper kill ever recorded. He joined the service at the age of 16 and, in 2009, killed two Taliban shooters from a distance of one and a half miles. Unfortunately, he later suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. She has no future as she is stuck with her former husband (Curley) who hates her leaving his sight, she has no friends as she is the only woman on the ranch and Curley will not allow her socializ with the men because he feels that they would steel her, and she has no respect from anyone on the ranch because why should they; She gets the men in trouble just by looking at them because well lets face it shes made out to be a whore who is stunningly beautiful, why wouldnt you look; she doesn t even withhold a name (which isnt even mentioned within the story) She is just known as Curleys wife because she is his possesion, his property. Such portrayal of bear like activities would be the crusing and smashing of Curley s hand.Curley s small masculine hands are no match for Lennie s solid, strong, bear like paws thus giving us the result of Curleys puvled hand. Lennie is an extremely sensitive boy who watches over his best friend and lover, to add he has an etremely terrible temper. He gets uncannily hyped up just thinking about having a pet rabbit or puppy, not to mention being aloud to have a one. Yet Lennie is incredibly strong and cannot comprehend this. He doesnt perceive to be scary or frightening to anyone except for Curley. Curley despises Lennie, in light of the fact that he couldn t care less for tremendous huge men and really makes a joke of him because of his mental capacity and simple needs. Such bear like expressions are: Dragging his feet a little as a bear would drag his paws . Yet this isn t the only creature Lennie is implied to be, other cases include, being solid as a bull. This reliable constant use of symbolism shows us Lennie s affection and commitment for creatures he could call his own for example: rabbits, mice, and puppies. This makes us aware of how animal and to some degree child like Lennie really ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Secondly it may cause severe personnel problems for Max who already lacks confidence in himself and in his colleagues. Again I find myself in strong agreement with Person s and Porath s view on Max, their idea of enrolling Max in training programs is especially appealing. I think this would benefit greatly to his confidence which I think is the real underlying issue and has a direct effect on his behaviour. He feels he cannot trust anyone and so acts in a hostile way always keeping to himself and never bothering to appear refined or interested in his colleagues opinions. Furthermore it is essential to address employees like Nicole. Her rumours and constant gossip have become a hindrance to employee performance, Tabor should organise a meeting to tackle these issues. The meeting should also address Paige, George and Sam s concerns regarding Max s behaviour. In addition she should issue a warning to Nicole in relation to her inclination to exaggerate, for example, when it appears Paige and the others become concerned she does nothing to console their fear, instead she confirms it by adding I m not so crazy after all, am I? I m telling you, Max is on the edge. And I don t want to end up another statistic. This type of behaviour has to stop or Lynn Tabor will eventually face a serious problem. Lynn ... The Musculoskeletal system is under the control of the nervous system and is responsible for human movement; this is comprised of the skeletal and muscular system, with the human body containing 640 skeletal muscles (Watkins 2010). Skeletal muscle is made up of muscle fibres (myofibres) and contain multiple nuclei; within the cytoplasm of these cells, there are long chains of myfibrils which are chains of many sarcomeres and these run from end to end of the muscle. Sarcomeres are comprised of thin and thick bands of proteins called actin and myosin; which overlap when a muscle contraction occurs; shortening the sarcomere (Edmiston 2012). Muscle contractions are stimulated by motor neurons; these carry information from the central nervous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The variables being discussed in this report are the percentage of peak power decrease (in the quadriceps) between repeated sprints and either active or passive recovery; from this, two major questions arise; Is the percentage decrease in peak power on a repeated sprint significantly different between subject groups who completed an active recovery or a passive recovery? And what are the physiological mechanisms that cause a decrease in peak power to occur? The following alternative hypothesis will therefore be tested, to determine if; there is a significant difference in the decrease of peak power between repeated sprints where subjects complete either an active or passive recovery and the following null hypothesis has been set, predicting that; there is no significant difference in peak power decrease between repeated sprints where either an active or passive recovery technique was used.
