there are 5 different lunch times dedicated to certain buildings so that the chaos of each 20 minute

Nationalism began to take a rise in Europe during the nineteenth century. During this time many
events would take place that would shape Europe into the country it is today. The French Revolution
was a significant event that took place and helped introduce nationalism across Europe. The French
Revolution, which began in 1789 and ended in the late 1790s, promoted liberty, fraternity, and
equality within the European countries. This event supported a union of countries for future wars and
promoted the idea that it was no longer just a country or state, but was now a nation bound together by
similar cultures, religion, history, and language. In the nineteenth century, nationalism was becoming
more prominent. The Serbian Revolution was a major event that introduced nationalism into the
nineteenth century. During this revolution Serbia managed to release its ties from the Ottoman Empire
and exist as a sovereign European nation state. According to the New World Encyclopedia (2008),
Serbs were encouraged by Russia to re assert their national and ethnic identity and to find inspiration
too in memories of their brief imperial past. Another event that introduced nationalism in the
nineteenth century was the national revolt against Austria led by Lajos Kossuth in Hungary. This
revolt gave nationalism fame, and the following thirty years showed it, as more than seven new
national states were created in Europe. Nationalism had a great influence in the twentieth century.

The Decision that should matter but do not The modern era, politically, has been defined by the right
of everyone s own decision, for who s in power, what they do in power and how to stop them if they
get too powerful. It was the individual s decision to let one into power. Of course if a country did not
do this, we as Americans would see that as backwards and not right to the point of military
intervention when in our own nation we do not get full say in who become president. The decision
making does not include world leaders but also includes the day to day decisions and our own life

He describes how the western philosophy has described how to make a better world by just simply
giving the individuals more choice in the world. Schwartz then later in the lecture goes on to explain
how this ever growing amount of choice can lead to a paralysis of choice. According to Schwartz this
paralysis is being exemplified by the amount of choices given to them. This has led to an opposite
effect where instead of giving more choices equals a better life, now more choices means no choices at
all leading to no choice at all. Schwartz gives another example of cellphones doing ludicrous things
such as nose trimming, toothbrush and even a lighter. Here exemplifies how the growing number of
choices has led to the elderly simply not getting cell phones or televisions because they cannot
understand how to use the call feature or how to change the channel of the television. The vast amount
of choices has also lead to the agency of one s choices to decease as well. With so many options our
decisions rely totally on us according to Schwartz, that if our choice in anything is so much as not
perfect, then our decision was a bad decision and one could have made a better decision. Which leads
to a loss in agency in oneself as well as depression, due to no decision ever being good enough. The

Social And Social Influence On Behavior Essay
Social influence Social psychologists try to understand human behavior in terms of the influence
others have in producing it (Aronson, Wilson Akert, 1994). The following passage explains
specifically how social groups can influence behavior. In particular, the discussion will Center on the
role groups play in the formation of social norms and social roles. With reference to experiments, the
passage will show the terms and degree to which people are likely to conform under group pressure to
those norms and roles. Muzafer Sherif (1935) conducted an experiment which showed the effects a
group can have on the behavior of an individual. Participants were asked individually to identify how
far a white dot moved on a black screen in a dark room. They were then asked to do the same task but
in a group with other participants who had also completed the task independently. It was found that
answers changed considerably towards a norm which they all shared. Just the presence of the group
influenced the participant s opinions. Jackobs and Campbell (1961), in a similar experiment, showed
how group norms can pass through generations. They replicated the study several times replacing one
old participant with a new one each time. They found that the norm found in the initial study was still
prevalent over time even when the original group no longer was present. The original group
established a norm which then became a social norm as it pervaded subsequent groups. However, it

The entire 2004 2005 NHL Hockey season was on ice, cancelled due to a lockout announced by
Commissioner Gary Bettman because the players union would not accept any proposal that included a
salary cap during contract negotiations. Could the cancelled season have been prevented? Would there
be an agreement for the 2005 2006 NHL season and beyond? If both sides in the negotiations could
not reach an agreement and salvage the season, how must the two parties overcome the barriers
(Trotschel, Loschelder, Huffmeier, Schwartz, Gollwitzer, 2011) to end the lockout? A thorough
analysis of the terms, barriers and powers delineated throughout the negotiation process will show that
a more effective negotiation process would have prevented the cancellation of the 2004 2005 NHL
Hockey season.
On September 15, 2004, Gary Bettman, representing the interests of the league and team owners,
announced that the NHL players were being locked out from participating in the upcoming hockey
season (Malhotra Hout, 2006). Gary Bettman was authorized and empowered by the team owners to
declare such a decision in the event the two parties could not come to a contract agreement during
negotiations. Bob Goodenow, executive director of the players union, led negotiations on behalf of the
players. Though many issues were addressed in negotiations, the primary issue was over salary cap.
The owners insisted on a cap on salaries and the players refused to accept any agreement that included
a cap.

Psychological Torture and the Fairness of Poverty The Lesson , by Toni Cade Bambara, is a first
person narration of a young girl named Sylvia who through the teachings of Miss Moore learns about
the socioeconomic gap between the wealthy and poor. White Torture , by Farnoosh Moshiri, is a short
story told in third person of a woman enduring the psychological pain of torture which results in the
audience questioning the morality of the subject at hand. While both stories differ greatly in tone and
theme, they both demonstrate the potential of short stories when utilized properly. Bambara s use of
Sylvia as the protagonist of the narrative gives the story a somewhat playful tone while tackling a
subject that is far from it. While in the taxi Sylvia thinks to herself, So we heading down the street and
she s boring us silly about what things cost and what our parents make and how much goes for rent
and how money ain t divided up right in this country (Bambara 1143). This quote shows that by using
Sylvia s first person take with the story, Bambara gives us a humorous approach of a child that must
slowly come to the terms with the reality of wealth in the country. Moshiri s story White Torture, goes
with a third person approach when telling her story. The woman who is the focal point of the story is
never named and we only get glimpse of her history based on short flashbacks. The only real concrete
information the audience is given is that she is in a holding facility

What would you do if you discovered a secret that changed everything? A secret so impacting It could
change life as we know it. Well Victor Frankenstein did and he kept the secret of Frankenstein s
creation to himself, and when he finally did it he flees away from the creature and it left too to be in

Introduction Literature Review Human beings are social beings and as such, social interaction with
others is crucial to one s definition, and perception of the self. Social interaction happens everyday,
and there are many components that work collaboratively in order to make these encounters flow in a
smooth manner (Goffman). Everyone engages in what Goffman called impression management (IM)
and this is which means that every participant in a social interaction defines the situation with the
information that is being exchanged, and this information is modified in a way that allows individuals
to obtain a desired reaction from others. There are various tactics of IM and one of them is called self
presentation. Self presentation encompasses all of the efforts individuals make in order to influence
others perceptions of themselves (cite). Early scholars such as Goffman referred to these practices as
happening on a face to face basis. However, as society adopted SNSs, social interaction as well as IM,
and self presentation have also been adapted into the virtual world, and so all of the WEB s a stage

Introduction:
Job references are crucial as they can be a deciding factor in whether or not a person will get a job.
Therefore, they should reflect a person accurately, and if they do not, it is important to question if the
employer is liable for writing a bad reference. This will be discussed in relation to the common law
duty of care, as well as being linked to the liability of Universities in respect of students.
Discussion:
Firstly, it is important to establish whether the employer owes a duty of care or not. The case of
Caparo v Dickman resulted in a three stage test about duty of care and to address responsibility in
determining where the liability of the financial loss lies. The test ruled The harm caused by the
negligent actions must be reasonably foreseeable; the relationship between the parties to the dispute
must be one of reasonable proximity; and it must be fair, reasonable, and just to impose liability. This
test provides a qualification for establishing duty of care. Linked to this, in the Spring v Guardian
Assurance case it was decided that there was a duty of care owed to the employee. If they duty is
violated, then the liability of the economic losses suffered by the employee are given to the employer.
Lord Woolf believed that it was necessary for the employer to be liable in damages as the law of
defamation does not provide adequate remedy for damages caused as it requires malice not just
negligence.

In other words, there are three key psychological needs that we possess as humans and God has been
created by humans in order to fulfil all three, the first of which is the need for protection against
external threats. Mankind is aware that it has no control over the natural world, which causes a feeling
of fear and helplessness. However, a supernatural God, such as the one most religions worship, would
be capable of offering protection against such events, and so Freud argued that religious believers
carry out ritualistic worship in order to feel as though they have some control over their God s

Southerners relied on slaves to produce the cotton and considered those slaves as property, but
Northerners felt that slavery was in violation of the Constitutional right to liberty,the pursuit of
happiness, and equal rights. As the country expanded west and more states were added, there were
more issues with sectionalism. When Missouri requested statehood, they wanted to be admitted as a
slave state. If they had been allowed to join, the free states would have been outnumbered. Maine also

assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand during the tension between Austria Hungary and Russia

Another event that bolsters the fact that Americans strongly believed in the power and necessity of
democracy during this time was the Red Scare. This was a short period in which, due to the popping
up of communist ideals in European countries, Americans feared and defended against the infiltration
of communism into the United States, seeking to maintain democracy. The combination of these
beliefs and events show that America was heavily invested in its democratic ideals and wanted to
spread them, encouraging them to enter the war for this cause. Another reason why Americans wanted
to enter the war was due to the fact that Germany was becoming increasingly aggressive toward the
