Ephesians 3
During the first week the class was divided into eight small groups. Each group was given the task to
collectively agree on a common definition on the gospel founded in the Bible. During that time
students including myself had to compromise and possible argue their point. As I reflect on the
experience of working in a group to provide a working definition for the gospel three things stand out
persuasion, pressure, and practice. Persuasion from outside influences mainly NT Wright s book. In
my group one of the members was quickly persuaded by Wright i.e. The gospel is news not advise. As
christians I think we aren t to be easily persuaded. Ephesians 4 preaches supports this point well. And
he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds, and teachers, to equip the saints for
the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and
of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness
of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by
every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. (Ephesians 4:11 14

Although I believe Wright s teachings are sound, I was surprised to find somebody ... Show more

Ultimately I don t know why, but two possibilities include that the gospel is well know and therefore
we should know or to just finish and leave class. This pressure lead me to accept what our group
decide the first time without arguing my point. We collectively combined are definitions for our
answer, however if I were to do it again I d argue against using NT Wright s words, because we didn t
have enough time to compare Wright s claims to that of the Bible. Accepting someones teaching
blindly is what causes christians today to be tossed to and fro by most

Once we believe in ourselves, we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight, or any experience
that reveals the human spirit. E. E. Cummings was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1860. He had
trouble publishing some of his early books so he had to pay to print them himself. He became one of
America s best poets. How did E. E. Cummings visual and auditory techniques? To begin with visual
means sight and auditory means sound. E.E. Cumming creates meaning in his poetry by using visual
and auditory techniques. First of all E.E. Cumings used visual techniques in his poetry to create
meaning. For example, in Document A he makes the words look like a picture to represent what he is

An Organization For Employee Incentives
Short Paper
In any organization implementing employee incentives will only make the business flourish. An
incentive is something that motivates an individual to perform to the best of their ability. Using
incentives to motivate the employees can create a successful business, but it has to be done properly.
In fact, employee incentives relate to positive reinforcements because if an individual gets rewarded
for performing a task efficiently, then they are more likely to repeat that task again. Some people
believe that money is as the only incentive to motivate employees, but that is incorrect. Money can
only motivate employees when a task is simple and does not require conceptual, creative thinking.
(YouTube) Consequently, money does not always influence individuals and may create an even bigger
problem. According to the book, An important principle is that the stronger the incentive intensity, the
stronger the motivation, but also the greater the chance that there will be unintended, undesirable
consequences. In other words, if there is a giant cash reward in play, this will increase motivation of
all employees, which may lead to an unfortunate result because the employees will become stressed
out. Therefore, the more a manager creates employee incentives the more the company will benefit in
the end. Managers have to first start by treating their employees as people and nothing else. In fact,
employee recognition programs create an increased sense of worth and improved

Microsoft Visual Studio.Net is an object oriented program that is used to develop website and software

Food Intake In Adolescents
Food Intake A poor diet containing high levels of fat or sugar and few nutrients can cause kids to gain
weight quickly (Sallis Glanz, 2006, pg. 100). Fast food, candy, and soft drinks are common culprits.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that 32 percent of adolescent girls and
52 percent of adolescent boys in the United States drink 24 ounces of soda or more per day (School
Health Guidelines, 2011). Convenience foods, such as frozen dinners, salty snacks, and canned pastas,
can also contribute to unhealthy weight gain (Kuhl, Clifford, Bandstra, Filigna, Yeomans Maldonado,
Rausch, Stark, 2014, pg. 96). Children can become obese due to their parents lack of knowledge on
how to properly prepare healthy foods. Other families may not be able to easily afford or access fresh
fruits, vegetables, and meats (Stadler, Oettingen Gollwitzer, 2010, pg. 276) and foods priced lower
often contain more salt and sugar (O Connor, Jones, Conner, McMillan Ferguson, 2008, pg. 25). ...

able to be present for dinner preparation or dinner itself, which leads to something quick such as fast
food (Charles Kerr, 2016, pg. 416). In addition, single parent households and households in which
both parents work full time have a tendency to favor the consumption of prepared food items that tend
to be high in fat and sodium (Crockett Sims, 1995, pg.

Upward Bound Program
Community service is an act that should be done with an open heart. Although it was not recorded I
have done a few community services willingly. In high school, I was a part of a program for college
readiness, the Upward Bound Program. The program played an enormous role in my enrollment to
Florida International University, therefore I intend to keep in touch with them and I would pay them a
visit them during my free times. During the holiday season of 2016, I voluntarily helped with the
Christmas luncheon the Upward Bound Program conducted for the students currently in the program.
It was frankly an unprompted act, I ran into my close friend while going to the cafeteria for breakfast,
she informed me that she was going to help Upward Bound ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Before heading into the new year, I cleaned out my closet and sent many clothes that I have outgrown
to my younger relatives in Haiti. I was going to throw my clothes out, but I felt that it would be
awfully selfish of me to do so when I could recycle them and benefit my family. I consider myself a
caring and generous person, I feel pleased to see others content. Comedian Danny Thomas said this
quote, success has nothing to do with what you gain in life or accomplish for yourself. It is what you
do for others. I hold this quote near to me because I know the feeling of being content but have
individuals around me distressed. This distressed feeling influenced an unsettling feeling upon me, for
me true success is an authentic happiness from every individual. I cannot be complete and content,
while my brothers and sisters are empty and troubled. With this mindset, I try to be a helping hand for
everyone, especially the ones in need. One way I would love to put my generosity to use is by
assisting the less fortunate. I have heard of a place called Camillus House where they provide service

Sweat By Zora Neale Hurston Essay
In her short story Sweat , Zora Neale Hurston details the troubled lives of a married African American
couple in the deep south. Born and raised in Florida herself, Huston had an excellent perspective on
the culture of that time and area. She no doubt saw the situations and heard the strong dialect that she
presents in the short story, in which Sykes constantly beats and demeans his wife Delia, who keeps her
retorts minimal as to not provoke him further. Sykes is openly dating another woman, yet Delia takes
no action, instead focusing on her work and religion. Delia retains her indifference when Sykes is in a
dire situation, allowing him to suffer just as she had. Though her actions may seem justified, they
present a major irony when considering her devoutness to religion. Delia s refusal to modify her calm
lifestyle despite Sykes s constant torment reflects her cultural and religious backgrounds and is
influenced by Hurston s own experiences. The culture that Zora Neale Hurston grew up around gave
her insight into the setting and culture that Sweat explores. Born in Eatonville, Florida, Hurston
remembered Eatonville as a place of great peace and happiness (Hemenway 10), though she was not
oblivious to the difficulties surrounding them. In fact, she embraced her place as an African American
woman; Hurston was quoted as saying that she was not tragically colored. There is no great sorrow
dammed up in my soul, nor lurking behind my eyes (Hemenway 11). Hurston

Why Seat Belts Should Have Seatbelts
Seat belts should be required on school buses for a lot of foreseen reasons. Seatbelts can make school
buses so much safer in so many different ways. One reason why seat belts should be required on
school buses is that it will save students lives. According to an article released by the Today show
About 440,000 school buses carry 24 million kids each and every day during the school year, which
can be dangerous if the bus gets in a crash. Undoubtedly, school buses should be required to have seat
belts if 24 million kids ride school buses each day. Furthermore, another reason is it will get students
to stay seated on the school buses . When students do not stay seated on the bus and they are in
awkward positions and in the aisle they are more prone to facing severe injuries, maybe even, death .
Adding on, if students have seatbelts on, they will have to sit down because they can stand up with a
seatbelt on. Going even further, cameras can be on school buses just like the cameras on the school
buses in Glenwood Community School District. This will give a higher chance of students getting
punished and it can even result in a suspension off the school bus as little as 3 days and as long as the

An example of a rule, they will follow is, they will sit down at all times when the bus is in motion.
The reason why some say this is an example is because, students won t be able to take off their
seatbelts if the bus is in motion because it will make it an extremely dangerous situation if the bus gets
into a wreck because when the police and the investigation team comes out and investigates the crash
they can say, this person was in an awkward position. Or even, perhaps, they can say they weren t
wearing a seatbelt and the student can get into a lot of trouble because the police have that power. That
s why one of many reasons some say, seatbelts should be required on school

Canadian Football Game Analysis
There were no Canadian teams in the playoffs For the first time in 46 seasons, there were no Canadian
teams in the NHL playoffs. The last time this occurred was 1969 1970 season where there were only
12 teams in the league and two from Canada being the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs.
The league has grown to 30 teams (and is in the process of expanding), with seven of them being
north of the border. Although there are only seven teams representing the red and white, it surprising
to think that none of them qualified, considering that last season five out of the the seven teams were
in playoffs (except for Toronto and Edmonton). Each team had their reasons for why they didn t make
it. Toronto s first season under Mike Babcock was one to forget since they are in the rebuilding
process and finished 30th overall with 69 points. The Leafs also traded away star players Phil Kessel,
captain Dion Phaneuf, and James Reimer in order to start from scratch and create a new team identity.
They are looking to improve after securing the first overall pick in the upcoming draft and will most
likely take prospect Austun Matthews to help get them back to the playoffs after being out since the
2012 2013 season. Edmonton finished one point above Toronto and are still looking to make it to the

Death, what we all have in common.
Many people will go through life without ever putting much thought into when or how we will die,
some people will die suddenly or quickly while others will experience a slow agonizing death that
makes them put their whole life into perspective. The film Wit (Bosanquet et al., 2001) shows Vivian

Doctor Kelekian told Vivian that she had stage four metastatic ovarian cancer, that unfortunately had

False News Bias Essay
Everyday, billions of people read websites, magazines, newspapers, or watch television segments so
they are informed on what is happening in the world. The news is something that so many people rely
on and check constantly. What people aren t aware of however, is that so much of what they are being
told is a lie. False news is a growing and constant issue in today s society. Fake news spreads rapidly,
changing people s views on the world constantly. However, putting an end to this media trend has
proved to be a struggle. Fake news comes from countless places and spreads at an alarmingly fast rate.
Usually, false stories start as a hoax on a small scale website, blog, or even social media post. A

Most of this has to do with the fact that fake news is biased. People like and share the information that
aligns or confirms their beliefs and disregard the information that does not. According to a recent
analysis, information can bring people together or drive them apart... Fake news is divisive . On the
other hand, real news brings the people who agree even closer and persuades the ones who do not.
With fake news ruining the flow of this common ground, people have become more and more divided
on certain topics (Donath). One important aspect of society that has been completely bombarded with
false information is the Presidential Election. In fact, as election day got closer and closer, the most
popular stories were derived from false information (Obama). That is a big problem because as voters
were trying to make an educated decision on who to vote for, they were being told information that
was not even true. Some people say that fake news could have even altered the election results. But
why are people believing all this? In order for a piece of information to change someone s opinion on
something, they obviously have to truly believe and buy into that information. False news sources
have been working to develop ways to get people to think what they are saying is true. One way to do
this is by confusing the viewer just enough to not know what is true. Another way is by making their
sites look extremely professional and falsely crediting information to trustworthy places ( Fake News
and the Internet Shell Game ). Unfortunately, once fake news is produced and in the public, it can
change people s views on the

Pros And Cons Of Painkillers
Is the misuse of painkillers worth losing a life? A study was performed in West Virginia looking at 295
accidental deaths from pain killers and found nearly 2 out of 3 of those who died overdosed on pain
killers, did not have a prescription (Shmerling, 2008). Today in society, there are many prescription
pain killers physicians can choose from to administer to patients. However, statistics show that the
most common narcotic painkillers used are Oxycodone, Percocet, and Vicodin. The number of people
abusing prescription drugs, including opioids, more than doubled, from 7.8 million in 1992 to 15.1
million in 2003 (Gupta Christo, 2009). The misuse of prescription painkillers among the general
population in the United States is quickly rising to a state of an epidemic. Many people today take
prescription painkillers to help cope with pain. Even though prescription painkillers can provide relief
of excessive pain, the result of taking prescription painkillers is not always a good outcome. Taking
these painkillers can easily lead to a misuse of the painkillers. In many cases, fear of uncontrolled pain

During George Wallace s Stand in the Schoolhouse Door protest, Forrest stands curiously in the
background, more interested in his surroundings rather than the actual protest. During the Vietnam
War, Forrest never questions the morality or the agenda of the U.S. government, and receives the
Congressional Medal of Honor for his efforts. His entire experience during the Vietnam War can be
summed up into one conversation between him and the Drill Sergeant: Gump! What s your sole
purpose in this Army? To do whatever you tell me, Drill Sergeant! (Gump 1995) Still, the most
dismaying portion of impassive responses glorified in this film can be contributed to Forrest s careless

Character Analysis Of Miss Emily Grierson
Upon reading A Rose for Emily, penned by William Faulkner, one discovers several colorful
characters, including one Miss Emily Grierson, who may be best described as a wilting violet in a time
capsule. As the daughter of a colonel who was once the respected town mayor, Miss Emily met a
much different fate than one might have expected of someone with such a high societal status. In
keeping with the idea that humans are flawed beings, a tragic hero is often described as an individual
with immense potential who meets a horrific end due to flaws within themselves, and the main
character in Faulkner s short story undeniably meets these criteria. In William Faulkner s A Rose for
Emily, Miss Emily Grierson suffers an unfortunate fate due to her lack of willingness to evolve as the
times changed, her intense need to keep up appearances, and her withdrawal from society which leads
readers to accept her as a tragic hero.
Throughout the course of the story, it becomes evident to readers that Miss Emily lived her life as
though time was on pause, and nothing was allowed to be altered within the confines of her reality; in
regard to this realization, one notes that this is where she first began her long fall down the well. In
retrospect, she held fast to the days when she fancied herself a symbol of the flourishing south and
became stationary in an antiquated period of life when the times began to change. She made it known
that she wanted no part of change, and she never chose to

Pica And Rumination Research Paper
What exactly are pica and rumination disorder? Pica is the act of eating items that are non nutritive, in
other words they have little to no nutritional value to the human body. Things that could be eaten
include glass, couch cushions, chalk, glue, just about anything that normally would not be considered
to be taken into the body. This can happen because of trying to avoid high calorie items foods and the
desire for weight loss. Rumination disorder is when someone(typically children) have swallowed food
and spit it back up and begin chewing it again. This behavior does not happen because of medical
reasons either.
In the study, they used 149 females that had eating disorders and 100 men and women that were
considered obese. There were few reports of eating non edible objects. Barely anyone at from either
group met the criteria for pica. 7.4% of the people experienced rumination. The prevalence is still
unknown. The females with eating disorders had 93.8% of the patients had the same diagnosis. The
males and females from the other place had 95% of the patients had the same diagnosis. These
numbers are not far apart which could mean they are pretty closely related and accurate, but this is not
enough evidence to make the prevalence known. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Two Contrasting Places In The Poisonwood Bible
The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver uses two extremely contrasting places in the Congo and
the United States in order to represent contrasting ideas. The United States represents civility and
home for the Price family, while Congo in contrast represents a much more savage, sinister, and less
developed country throughout the novel. The two places are major contrasts of each and represent
entirely different ideas. The United States is a place of civility, development, and hospitality
throughout the novel, it is home for the missionary Price family, but Leah Price no longer feels
comfortable there, so they go to the Congo. The Congo is a major contrast to the United States in that
it is viewed as a country with, cannibal natives that would boil us in a pot and eat us up. (Kingsolver

each other, while one thinks the other is savages the Congolese believe that Americans are gods. This
same idea is also established later when Leah states, I ve heard foreign visitors complain that the
Congolese are greedy, naïve, and inefficient. They have no idea. The Congolese are skilled at survival
and perceptive belief or else dead at an early age. (Kingsolver 501) The quote yet again shows how

Reviewing The Supreme Court Of Canada Case
Analyzing the Supreme Court of Canada Case:
Carter v. Canada (Attorney General) the Death with Dignity Case
The appellants Lee Carter, Hollis Johnson and Gloria Taylor joined with other appellants to bring the
civil claim which is against the prohibition on assisted suicide found in s. 14 and s. 241 (b) of the
Criminal Code (Carter, para. 20). The same issue which was brought in Rodriguez v. British Columbia
20 years ago was declared to be constitutional. In this case, ultimately Lee Carter s appeals succeeded.
The Law Before the Ruling According to s. 14 and s. 214 (b) of the Canada Criminal Code, the law
criminalized the person who aids another person to commit suicide and it banned the death inflicted
on that person. In short, these provisions did not allow a person to seek a physician assisted death,
regardless of being suffered intolerably from a serious or incurable disease (Carter, para.1).
Questions Before the Court
 Whether the Criminal Code provisions prohibiting physician assisted dying found in s. 241 (b)
violates the claimants rights to life, liberty and security (s.7) and rights to equal treatment (s. 15) of the
Charter (Carter, para.29, 40).
 Whether the prohibition is justified under s.1 of the Canadian Charter (Carter, para.2).
 Whether the trial judge was bound by stare decisis in Rodriguez (Carter, para.28, 42).
 Whether the prohibition accorded with the principle of fundamental justice (Carter, para. 70).
 Whether the prohibition is rationally

Teen Prescription Drug Abuse In High School
Teen Prescription Drug Abuse
Doesn t matter what age, drugs are going to be used and abuse. From the time we are born, till the day
we die, prescription drugs are prescribed for doctor approved use. Most prescription drugs are given to
help control a disease, an imbalance, sickness, etc. With teenage drug abuse on the rise in most US
high schools, has become a problem parents are noticing among their children. Being a parent to a
teenage child who has meddled with prescription drugs has been an unbelievable eye opener. Teens
know who they get these drugs from; fellow students, friends, parents cabinets. Educating parents and
discussing the risks with teens about the effects prescription drugs can cause is important to helping
prevent this from continuing. Prescription drug abuse amongst teens in high school is becoming a
dilemma. Teens are finding it easy to get drugs at school by either buying it off other students or
getting it from friends who got it from someone else. This has become a huge problem amongst the
youth. With most high schools having campus police, they are finding it hard to crack down on drugs
entering the campus (Officer Landivar). As a mother to a teen child who has abused prescription drugs
has damaged the trust that was graciously given. US high school aged teens have abused prescription
drugs and illegal drugs. Most times it is intentional and others, peer pressure. Trust between parent and
child is damaged by the actions the child has taken.

Ancient Mythology through Generations
Ancient Mythology has always been a very fascinating subject throughout many generations. Whether
it was stories of star crossed lovers, good versus evil, or the wrath of the gods these tales have always
had a way of captivating their audiences. One of the most prominent stories was about Odysseus, a
war hero who longed to return to his wife Queen Penelope after many years away fighting in the
Trojan War. He loved his queen very much and the fact they could not be together tore him apart.
When he returned from a long voyage at sea, he had to prove his love for his queen. Another major
tale was that of King Agamemnon, who was also fighting in the Trojan War and wanted to see his wife
Clytemnestra. However, when he returned Agamemnon might have found himself in a position that he
shouldn t have returned home to. Both of these stories tell tales about the epic war for the city of Troy,
however the fate of these two great leaders was vastly different when they returned home. The Trojan
War began when the Trojan Prince Paris stole the heart of Helen, the wife of King Menelaus of Sparta,
and the two of them returned back to try to be married. Menelaus was not going to take this act of
disrespect, and demanded that somebody pay the price for such a devious crime. Agamemnon was the
brother of Menelaus and the two of them formed an alliance against the people and leaders of Troy.
When the dust settled many familiar faces were dead including Achilles, Ajax, and Paris. King

Norman Rockwell s Homecoming Marine
Homecoming Marine is a painting by Norman Rockwell, it was featured on the cover of The Saturday
Evening Post in October of 1945. The original is 46x42 , is an oil painting on canvas, and can be
found in the Norman Rockwell Museum collection. The painting shows a young soldier seated on a
box just to the left of center, in what appears to be a mechanics workshop, surrounded by six other
people. He is dressed in a green military uniform; his shirt has a lighter green tone compared to his
pants. His military hat is tall, circular and perched high on his head with a leather band around the
base of the hat where it meets the black brim. Affixed to the front of the hat appears to be a black
insignia. He wears six different color ribbons over his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His blue work coveralls hanging next to his portrait depicts this, along with the gaskets hanging next
to those. That was a job unfinished by the marine before he was rushed off to war, one he will finish
after the gets settled in. The man standing behind the marine is the owner of the garage, and he told
him when he returned from the war his job will be waiting for him. He probably told him that because
he is also the marine s father, as this was a family business. The marine s brother is seated on the work
bench and has been carrying the load of two people while his brother was away. The two boys in the
room are the brother s sons, and they have different interests in this uncle returning home. Everyone in
the room is listening intently to the marine, with the exception of the oldest boy. He is wearing the
sweater, standing next to his dad, and is listening, but his body language and clothing tell me he has no
interest in following in his footsteps. This young boy has dreams of going to college, getting out of
that town, and avoiding the military if at all possible. The other young boy in the painting is just the
opposite, he is engaged and hanging on every word spoken in the room. I would suspect their dad
would be supportive of either way the boys wanted to go, as he is proud of his brother but wouldn t
want to necessarily see his sons off to

control and the experimental groups? Is this important? Provide a rationale for your answer.
The mean severity for renal disease for the research subjects was 6.74. The dispersion or variability of
the renal disease severity scores was 2.97. The self care self efficacy severity score did vary
significantly with the experimental group s mean posttest score being 6.44 points higher than its
baseline mean score. This is important because this finding indicates that the empowerment
intervention had a positive impact on the self care self efficacy of the patients.
9. Which variable was least affected by the empowerment program? Provide a rationale for your
answer.
The depression variable was least affected by the empowerment program. The experimental group s
average baseline score only dropped 0.64 from the posttest, and the control group s average baseline

The Soviet Union As A Great Nation
Although often overlooked World War 2 can arguably seen as the most critical event in the history of
the Soviet Union. The result of the war was the epitome of Stalin s vision of success for the Soviet
Union. The War initially had a significantly positive impact on the Soviet Union in the short term,
however the results and effects of the War were a factor that ultimately led to the collapse of the
Soviet Union as a whole.
The short term impact World War 2 had for the Soviet Union was positive for the growth and
evolution of the Soviet Union. The War both enhanced nationalism, and propelled the Soviet Union to
a major world player. In the eyes of Stalin, WWII was exactly what the Soviet Union needed to evolve
into a great nation. The war created great sense of nationalism and unity that strengthened the core of
the Soviet Union. Just as Stalin had hoped for the Soviet Union became arguably the most
nationalistic world power at the time; looking at the way the Soviet Union fought the war can
reasonably conclude this. The Soviets didn t not fight the war conservatively whatsoever. Stalin and
the Soviet army would take risks and lose lives in the name of defeating fascist enemies. The Soviet
army fought the war as if they re entire societal system was on the line. Ordinary soldiers absorbed the
attitudes of the Nazi and the Soviet leaders. Both sides believed that defeat would lead to annihilation
of their way of life (Suny 343). Another positive impact WWII had on

Banquet Scene In The Odyssey
The Iliad is the quintessential epic. It is full with gods, goddesses, heroes, war, honor, glory, and the
like. However, for just short while near the very conclusion Homer avoids all of those epic qualities.
The banquet scene in Book XXIV is the most touching, the most human scene in the entire poem . In
the midst of the dreadful gulf of war and anger there occurs an intimate moment between two men
who ironically have much in common below the surface.
Priam, old and fragile, makes his way to the camp of the enemy s greatest warrior late at night. He
bears what little treasures have not been exhausted by the ten year conflict and plans to plead for the
rightful return of his son s body. This is his final heroic endeavor. And perhaps, ... Show more content

He calls upon his attendants to remove Priam s gifts from the wagon and prepare Hektor s body so that
his mournful father may carry him home. But extraordinarily when the body has been washed and
wrapped it is Achilles himself that embraces Hektor up and places him in the wagon. At the same time
he is embracing his own inevitable fate.
Upon returning Achilles invites Priam to join him for supper and reminds him that, mournful as they
may be, they must remember to eat. Neither has eaten in days but now it is as if a great weight has
been lifted from each man s heart and a strange healing power has surfaced. Finally relieved, they are
able to satisfy one of their basic human needs. Again, Achilles assumes the role of the elder of the two
and shares with the old king a story to support his decision to have supper. Again, though he has
accepted his death it seems as though Achilles is buying himself a little more time.
But when they had put aside their desire for eating and drinking, Priam gazes at Achilles in wonder. In
him he sees godlike qualities and he is reminded of his own heroic son. This is again a bizarre
occurrence taking into consideration that Achilles has the killed so many of his children. Perhaps
Priam accepts those deaths as an element of the war and doesn t see Achilles exclusively as a killer. If
this is so than Priam s kind heart and ability to

I Felt The Harsh Dirt Under My Feet
I felt the harsh dirt under my feet. Bobbing my head, I swayed back and forth struggling to avoid
hitting my head on the low branches that filled the dense forest. In the background of my thoughts, I
heard my friends trying to talk to me, asking me, Hey, you gonna jump? Mmm..hmmm, I replied.
Their question didn t matter to me, I wasn t interested in what they had to say, I was intensely focused
on what I was about to do. Anxiously, I went up to the edge of the cliff, and observed what I would
soon be hurdling into. Looking down, saw brown, scummy water below the dirt cliff that was keeping
the distance between me and the water. Suddenly, I felt hands on my back, and my feet left the dirt.
Without thinking, I swung my arms rapidly back and forth. Rapidly and pathetically I reached around
for something to keep me from plunging into the turbid water. There was no use, I was already
descending towards the water at a very rapid pace. My feet eventually reached the water, after what
felt like forever. I had annihilated the water that used to be as smooth as glass, because of the absence
of disturbance it once had. With the frigid water surrounding my body, chills went up my spine and
into my shoulders. While submerged in the water, I came to the conclusion that my friends and brother
probably left me, to frighten me. Why else would they pull a prank on me and leave me stranded in the
water? While drifting to the bottom of the creek, I realized that as a result of my friends

Karl Popper The Enemy Of Certainty Analysis
In the three part informative bibliography Karl Popper, the enemy of certainty, published by The
Guardian, scientist and philosopher Karl Popper s perspective on science is identified and discussed.
Author Liz Williams describes how Karl Popper was driven by a passion for learning and
understanding the world around him, and eventually grew to reject the ideas of empiricism and
positivism. Popper states that deductive reasoning, rather than inductive reasoning, should be used to
evaluate a theory based on the idea that proving a theory false provides a stronger argument compared
to proving a theory true. Popper also argues that theories cannot be considered scientific theories
unless they are able to be proven false, or are falsifiable. They must be able to be tested, and have the
ability to be proven false through those tests, before it can be considered a scientific theory. Popper
argues that scientific revolutions come about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Popper s scientific philosophy was solely based on truth, based on the idea that new scientific theories
are generated when old scientific theories are proven to be false; he states that in order for a theory to
be scientific, it must be falsifiable. On the other hand, Kuhn s philosophy was based on thought, and
how scientist s collective thoughts and theories change as concepts and practices change with time.
These two individuals have directly opposing philosophies truth versus thought. Finally, Lakatos
scientific philosophy acts as a happy medium between the two, describing science and scientific
revolutions as both truth and thought, although he did emphasize that truth may be a more reliable
factor. Whether it be truth, or thought, or both behind the changes in science over time, it does not

TPP Vs Nafta
After five years of negotiations, the United States and 11 other countries signed the Trans Pacific
partnership. The tpp is a deal that is to promote trade through out nations and will remove tariffs,
promote competition and create more opportunities for businesses. President Barack Obama argued
that tpp will create new jobs by opening up foreign markets for exporting goods and set minimum
standards for working conditions in the 11 other nations, leveling the playing field in the global
market. The tpp is a bad trade deal as it will cost the United states thousands of jobs and hurt the
economy.
TPP is very similar to Nafta which was a free trade deal signed by the Clinton foundation in 1993.
682,000 jobs were lost since Nafta was signed by bill clinton. This shows Nafta was a failure as the
trade deal was supposed to create jobs not lose them. Now TPP is a very similar deal as it s based on
the same concept. As there really isn t many differences, the TPP would be a repeat of the Nafta trade
deal. This causing jobs for the working class citizens of the united states. Nafta proved that these trade
deals are unsuccessful, and TPP is just another free trade deal that will hurt the United States. ... Show

Annihilation Of Native Americans Summary
At the nineteenth century as new immigrants from around the world came to North America to settle
in these new states called the United States as they filled in much of this land in the new territory the
old natives of this area were forced to travel westward and try their best to keep their land. Most
people claimed that the Indians were vanishing as they could not adapt to these new Europeans
lifestyles while others argued that it would not happen. In the end, we see that the Indians survived
through a huge act of extinction toward their society, while the reader looks back at evidence of Indian
life, it is obviously seen that the predictors of the Indians demise were smart as they used evidence to
support their claims while others on the opposing side did have good views. However the evidence
that has been prompted through time proved that the prediction of annihilation of Native Americans
was an obvious choice during this time and was not a shortsighted bias. ... Show more content on

settlers worked to take land from the natives, they had to conquer tribe after tribe slowly crushing the
population of natives. We also see the same argument in Source two as Morgan gives examples of the

Friar Lawrence At Fault Analysis
I think Friar Lawrence is the most at fault in the story of Romeo and Juliet. One of the reasons that he
is at fault is because he was the one that said yes to marry Romeo and Juliet. He thought if he married
them then the families would become at peace with one another. It did the exact opposite of what he
intended, a lot of people are dead now. He was feeling pressured that is why he said yes. Since he was
feeling pressured, he still could have said no, and gave them a reason so they could work it out in the
future. Secondly, he is the one that could have delayed the marriage. If he delayed the marriage he
could have talked to the families to see if it were going to be ok. Friar Lawrence knew that the

Dehumanization In The Island Of Dr. Moreau
Dehumanization
In the book Civil War Stories the author Ambrose Bierce wrote about fictional war stories based on his
time in the Army. In all of the stories there is usually dehumanization and almost always a plot twist at
the end. In the book The Island of Doctor Moreau there is a mad scientist who lives on an island trying
to create the perfect beast person. Dr. Moreau dehumanizes a lot in this book in many ways such as
performing horrific surgery on animals. Dehumanization is when you treat someone like they re not a
human, making them seem like they re not worthy of human treatment. That is what the book Civil
War Stories and The Island of Dr. Moreau is about and what dehumanization is. One of the stories in

History Of Rechambering Guns
When gunsmiths first started rechambering guns it was more labor intensive along with time
consuming. Gunsmiths had only a couple of different scrapers to get the job done. Maybe this was due
to only having a couple of rounds for specific rifles, that I am not so sure of. Scrapers would normally
run through the bore multiple times while being spun. Usually being spun by a hand wheel. After the
scrapers had been rotated, the chamber would be a step closer to being complete. The scrapers of that
time were very simple in design and could not give a smooth uniform finished bore. Scrapers were
mainly made from an iron bar that was hammered square in shape then twisted until it was a bit bigger
than the size of the bore. The scraper was forcibly

million in the campus area of Philadelphia (Clearing the Way for a Football Stadium. Philly.com). The
objective of this stakeholder analysis paper is to identify the most powerful and influential
stakeholders of Temple University stadium using three attributes power, legitimacy and urgency.
There are two divisions of stakeholders Primary and Secondary Stakeholders. According to Clarkson

Secondary stakeholders are those who don t have direct ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They don t have ownership or legal rights. Their interests are categorized in four different areas which
are career stability, student/school welfare, freedom of choice and the overall quality of education. If
Temple invest on developing a stadium and if it doesn t go well then it might affect on employees
career stability as they may redistribute employees to other departments. It could affect overall quality
of education/academics to Athletics. Also if the stadium moves in the campus, obviously there would
be a change in the culture hence it will affect student welfare. Through survey result, we found that
66% people are against the building of a new stadium. So, if I think about the freedom of choice, it
looks like most of the employees don t think it would be a good idea to build a new stadium because it
only going to waste money. Temple could provide money to develop community and invest on their
education system. There are two stakeholders who have strong relationships with each other. I think
that the board of trustees and the football program should work together as the project operation
would depend on their decision. TU doesn t have Legal responsibilities or Philanthropic obligation
towards their employees. However, they have Economic responsibilities. They need to think about the
infrastructure and the cost to develop the stadium. It could affect negatively on

illegal is what gangs do best. Sex, drugs and guns are daily exercises for these individuals. This
lifestyle gets you nowhere besides to the 3 places I explained earlier in my introduction. For some this
way of living is the ultimate way of living. Women, guns, and drugs are the three things that bring
men the most satisfaction. The question instead should be why one shouldn t join a gang. Living like
this has its benefits and downsides. For many, they re overwhelmed in the moment that they can t
realize the danger that is waiting for them. For most the realization either comes with a bullet or a jail

  • 2. Ephesians 3 During the first week the class was divided into eight small groups. Each group was given the task to collectively agree on a common definition on the gospel founded in the Bible. During that time students including myself had to compromise and possible argue their point. As I reflect on the experience of working in a group to provide a working definition for the gospel three things stand out persuasion, pressure, and practice. Persuasion from outside influences mainly NT Wright s book. In my group one of the members was quickly persuaded by Wright i.e. The gospel is news not advise. As christians I think we aren t to be easily persuaded. Ephesians 4 preaches supports this point well. And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds, and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. (Ephesians 4:11 14 ESV) Although I believe Wright s teachings are sound, I was surprised to find somebody ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This pressure lead me to accept what our group decide the first time without arguing my point. We collectively combined are definitions for our answer, however if I were to do it again I d argue against using NT Wright s words, because we didn t have enough time to compare Wright s claims to that of the Bible. Accepting someones teaching blindly is what causes christians today to be tossed to and fro by most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. An Organization For Employee Incentives Short Paper In any organization implementing employee incentives will only make the business flourish. An incentive is something that motivates an individual to perform to the best of their ability. Using incentives to motivate the employees can create a successful business, but it has to be done properly. In fact, employee incentives relate to positive reinforcements because if an individual gets rewarded for performing a task efficiently, then they are more likely to repeat that task again. Some people believe that money is as the only incentive to motivate employees, but that is incorrect. Money can only motivate employees when a task is simple and does not require conceptual, creative thinking. (YouTube) Consequently, money does not always influence individuals and may create an even bigger problem. According to the book, An important principle is that the stronger the incentive intensity, the stronger the motivation, but also the greater the chance that there will be unintended, undesirable consequences. In other words, if there is a giant cash reward in play, this will increase motivation of all employees, which may lead to an unfortunate result because the employees will become stressed out. Therefore, the more a manager creates employee incentives the more the company will benefit in the end. Managers have to first start by treating their employees as people and nothing else. In fact, employee recognition programs create an increased sense of worth and improved ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Fast food, candy, and soft drinks are common culprits. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that 32 percent of adolescent girls and 52 percent of adolescent boys in the United States drink 24 ounces of soda or more per day (School Health Guidelines, 2011). Convenience foods, such as frozen dinners, salty snacks, and canned pastas, can also contribute to unhealthy weight gain (Kuhl, Clifford, Bandstra, Filigna, Yeomans Maldonado, Rausch, Stark, 2014, pg. 96). Children can become obese due to their parents lack of knowledge on how to properly prepare healthy foods. Other families may not be able to easily afford or access fresh fruits, vegetables, and meats (Stadler, Oettingen Gollwitzer, 2010, pg. 276) and foods priced lower often contain more salt and sugar (O Connor, Jones, Conner, McMillan Ferguson, 2008, pg. 25). ... • 7. Upward Bound Program Community service is an act that should be done with an open heart. Although it was not recorded I have done a few community services willingly. In high school, I was a part of a program for college readiness, the Upward Bound Program. The program played an enormous role in my enrollment to Florida International University, therefore I intend to keep in touch with them and I would pay them a visit them during my free times. During the holiday season of 2016, I voluntarily helped with the Christmas luncheon the Upward Bound Program conducted for the students currently in the program. • 8. Sweat By Zora Neale Hurston Essay In her short story Sweat , Zora Neale Hurston details the troubled lives of a married African American couple in the deep south. Born and raised in Florida herself, Huston had an excellent perspective on the culture of that time and area. She no doubt saw the situations and heard the strong dialect that she presents in the short story, in which Sykes constantly beats and demeans his wife Delia, who keeps her retorts minimal as to not provoke him further. Sykes is openly dating another woman, yet Delia takes no action, instead focusing on her work and religion. Delia retains her indifference when Sykes is in a dire situation, allowing him to suffer just as she had. Though her actions may seem justified, they present a major irony when considering her devoutness to religion. Delia s refusal to modify her calm lifestyle despite Sykes s constant torment reflects her cultural and religious backgrounds and is influenced by Hurston s own experiences. The culture that Zora Neale Hurston grew up around gave her insight into the setting and culture that Sweat explores. Born in Eatonville, Florida, Hurston remembered Eatonville as a place of great peace and happiness (Hemenway 10), though she was not oblivious to the difficulties surrounding them. In fact, she embraced her place as an African American woman; Hurston was quoted as saying that she was not tragically colored. There is no great sorrow dammed up in my soul, nor lurking behind my eyes (Hemenway 11). Hurston ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One reason why seat belts should be required on school buses is that it will save students lives. According to an article released by the Today show About 440,000 school buses carry 24 million kids each and every day during the school year, which can be dangerous if the bus gets in a crash. Undoubtedly, school buses should be required to have seat belts if 24 million kids ride school buses each day. Furthermore, another reason is it will get students to stay seated on the school buses . When students do not stay seated on the bus and they are in awkward positions and in the aisle they are more prone to facing severe injuries, maybe even, death . Adding on, if students have seatbelts on, they will have to sit down because they can stand up with a seatbelt on. Going even further, cameras can be on school buses just like the cameras on the school buses in Glenwood Community School District. The last time this occurred was 1969 1970 season where there were only 12 teams in the league and two from Canada being the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs. The league has grown to 30 teams (and is in the process of expanding), with seven of them being north of the border. Although there are only seven teams representing the red and white, it surprising to think that none of them qualified, considering that last season five out of the the seven teams were in playoffs (except for Toronto and Edmonton). Each team had their reasons for why they didn t make it. Toronto s first season under Mike Babcock was one to forget since they are in the rebuilding process and finished 30th overall with 69 points. The Leafs also traded away star players Phil Kessel, captain Dion Phaneuf, and James Reimer in order to start from scratch and create a new team identity. On the other hand, real news brings the people who agree even closer and persuades the ones who do not. With fake news ruining the flow of this common ground, people have become more and more divided on certain topics (Donath). One important aspect of society that has been completely bombarded with false information is the Presidential Election. In fact, as election day got closer and closer, the most popular stories were derived from false information (Obama). That is a big problem because as voters were trying to make an educated decision on who to vote for, they were being told information that was not even true. Some people say that fake news could have even altered the election results. But why are people believing all this? In order for a piece of information to change someone s opinion on something, they obviously have to truly believe and buy into that information. False news sources have been working to develop ways to get people to think what they are saying is true. One way to do this is by confusing the viewer just enough to not know what is true. A study was performed in West Virginia looking at 295 accidental deaths from pain killers and found nearly 2 out of 3 of those who died overdosed on pain killers, did not have a prescription (Shmerling, 2008). • 15. Character Analysis Of Miss Emily Grierson Upon reading A Rose for Emily, penned by William Faulkner, one discovers several colorful characters, including one Miss Emily Grierson, who may be best described as a wilting violet in a time capsule. As the daughter of a colonel who was once the respected town mayor, Miss Emily met a much different fate than one might have expected of someone with such a high societal status. In keeping with the idea that humans are flawed beings, a tragic hero is often described as an individual with immense potential who meets a horrific end due to flaws within themselves, and the main character in Faulkner s short story undeniably meets these criteria. In William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily, Miss Emily Grierson suffers an unfortunate fate due to her lack of willingness to evolve as the times changed, her intense need to keep up appearances, and her withdrawal from society which leads readers to accept her as a tragic hero. Throughout the course of the story, it becomes evident to readers that Miss Emily lived her life as though time was on pause, and nothing was allowed to be altered within the confines of her reality; in regard to this realization, one notes that this is where she first began her long fall down the well. Pica is the act of eating items that are non nutritive, in other words they have little to no nutritional value to the human body. Things that could be eaten include glass, couch cushions, chalk, glue, just about anything that normally would not be considered to be taken into the body. This can happen because of trying to avoid high calorie items foods and the desire for weight loss. Rumination disorder is when someone(typically children) have swallowed food and spit it back up and begin chewing it again. This behavior does not happen because of medical reasons either. In the study, they used 149 females that had eating disorders and 100 men and women that were considered obese. There were few reports of eating non edible objects. • 22. Ancient Mythology through Generations Ancient Mythology has always been a very fascinating subject throughout many generations. Whether it was stories of star crossed lovers, good versus evil, or the wrath of the gods these tales have always had a way of captivating their audiences. One of the most prominent stories was about Odysseus, a war hero who longed to return to his wife Queen Penelope after many years away fighting in the Trojan War. He loved his queen very much and the fact they could not be together tore him apart. When he returned from a long voyage at sea, he had to prove his love for his queen. Another major tale was that of King Agamemnon, who was also fighting in the Trojan War and wanted to see his wife Clytemnestra. However, when he returned Agamemnon might have found himself in a position that he shouldn t have returned home to. Both of these stories tell tales about the epic war for the city of Troy, however the fate of these two great leaders was vastly different when they returned home. The Trojan War began when the Trojan Prince Paris stole the heart of Helen, the wife of King Menelaus of Sparta, and the two of them returned back to try to be married. • 29. The Soviet Union As A Great Nation Although often overlooked World War 2 can arguably seen as the most critical event in the history of the Soviet Union. The result of the war was the epitome of Stalin s vision of success for the Soviet Union. The War initially had a significantly positive impact on the Soviet Union in the short term, however the results and effects of the War were a factor that ultimately led to the collapse of the Soviet Union as a whole. The short term impact World War 2 had for the Soviet Union was positive for the growth and evolution of the Soviet Union. The War both enhanced nationalism, and propelled the Soviet Union to a major world player. In the eyes of Stalin, WWII was exactly what the Soviet Union needed to evolve into a great nation. The war created great sense of nationalism and unity that strengthened the core of the Soviet Union. Just as Stalin had hoped for the Soviet Union became arguably the most nationalistic world power at the time; looking at the way the Soviet Union fought the war can reasonably conclude this. The Soviets didn t not fight the war conservatively whatsoever. Stalin and the Soviet army would take risks and lose lives in the name of defeating fascist enemies. The Soviet army fought the war as if they re entire societal system was on the line. Ordinary soldiers absorbed the attitudes of the Nazi and the Soviet leaders. Both sides believed that defeat would lead to annihilation of their way of life (Suny 343). Another positive impact WWII had on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Banquet Scene In The Odyssey The Iliad is the quintessential epic. It is full with gods, goddesses, heroes, war, honor, glory, and the like. However, for just short while near the very conclusion Homer avoids all of those epic qualities. The banquet scene in Book XXIV is the most touching, the most human scene in the entire poem . In the midst of the dreadful gulf of war and anger there occurs an intimate moment between two men who ironically have much in common below the surface. Priam, old and fragile, makes his way to the camp of the enemy s greatest warrior late at night. He bears what little treasures have not been exhausted by the ten year conflict and plans to plead for the rightful return of his son s body. This is his final heroic endeavor. And perhaps, ... But extraordinarily when the body has been washed and wrapped it is Achilles himself that embraces Hektor up and places him in the wagon. At the same time he is embracing his own inevitable fate. Upon returning Achilles invites Priam to join him for supper and reminds him that, mournful as they may be, they must remember to eat. Neither has eaten in days but now it is as if a great weight has been lifted from each man s heart and a strange healing power has surfaced. Finally relieved, they are able to satisfy one of their basic human needs. Again, Achilles assumes the role of the elder of the two and shares with the old king a story to support his decision to have supper. Again, though he has accepted his death it seems as though Achilles is buying himself a little more time. But when they had put aside their desire for eating and drinking, Priam gazes at Achilles in wonder. In him he sees godlike qualities and he is reminded of his own heroic son. This is again a bizarre occurrence taking into consideration that Achilles has the killed so many of his children. Perhaps Priam accepts those deaths as an element of the war and doesn t see Achilles exclusively as a killer. If this is so than Priam s kind heart and ability to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. I Felt The Harsh Dirt Under My Feet I felt the harsh dirt under my feet. Bobbing my head, I swayed back and forth struggling to avoid hitting my head on the low branches that filled the dense forest. In the background of my thoughts, I heard my friends trying to talk to me, asking me, Hey, you gonna jump? Mmm..hmmm, I replied. Their question didn t matter to me, I wasn t interested in what they had to say, I was intensely focused on what I was about to do. Anxiously, I went up to the edge of the cliff, and observed what I would soon be hurdling into. Looking down, saw brown, scummy water below the dirt cliff that was keeping the distance between me and the water. Suddenly, I felt hands on my back, and my feet left the dirt. Without thinking, I swung my arms rapidly back and forth. Rapidly and pathetically I reached around for something to keep me from plunging into the turbid water. There was no use, I was already descending towards the water at a very rapid pace. My feet eventually reached the water, after what felt like forever. I had annihilated the water that used to be as smooth as glass, because of the absence of disturbance it once had. With the frigid water surrounding my body, chills went up my spine and into my shoulders. Karl Popper The Enemy Of Certainty Analysis In the three part informative bibliography Karl Popper, the enemy of certainty, published by The Guardian, scientist and philosopher Karl Popper s perspective on science is identified and discussed. Author Liz Williams describes how Karl Popper was driven by a passion for learning and understanding the world around him, and eventually grew to reject the ideas of empiricism and positivism. Popper states that deductive reasoning, rather than inductive reasoning, should be used to evaluate a theory based on the idea that proving a theory false provides a stronger argument compared to proving a theory true. Popper also argues that theories cannot be considered scientific theories unless they are able to be proven false, or are falsifiable. The tpp is a bad trade deal as it will cost the United states thousands of jobs and hurt the economy. TPP is very similar to Nafta which was a free trade deal signed by the Clinton foundation in 1993. 682,000 jobs were lost since Nafta was signed by bill clinton. Most people claimed that the Indians were vanishing as they could not adapt to these new Europeans lifestyles while others argued that it would not happen. In the end, we see that the Indians survived through a huge act of extinction toward their society, while the reader looks back at evidence of Indian life, it is obviously seen that the predictors of the Indians demise were smart as they used evidence to support their claims while others on the opposing side did have good views. Scrapers would normally run through the bore multiple times while being spun. Usually being spun by a hand wheel. After the scrapers had been rotated, the chamber would be a step closer to being complete. The scrapers of that time were very simple in design and could not give a smooth uniform finished bore.
