Guitar Recital Essay
Guitar Recital This project was interesting to me because I really don t take the time to listen to
different types of music like classical guitar. This was my first time listening to this type of music and
it was pretty good. It showed me that there are more than a few types of music out there. The CD I
chose was the 2013 Guitar Recital by Philip Hemmo. The tracks that where on it are Ciaconna,
Introduction et Polonaise, Adagio, Caprice, Danza Mora, Julia Florida and Sevillana. My favorite song
was Adagio which homage to J. S. Bach. It was calm and was played a perfect speed. It slowed down
and sped up through the whole song. Also the volume of the guitar was quit and loud threw the
different parts of the song. It is also a very long song

Anti Semitic And Anti Zionist Movement
By the late nineteenth century, the Jews, who had been in exile for almost two thousand years, found
their ancestral homeland in Palestine, which was largely occupied by Arabs and governed by the
Turks; this dilemma sparked many problems within the Middle East. Since the rise of the Zionist
movement and the establishment of the State of Israel in May 1948, political leaders of predominately
Muslim nations in the Middle East have made discriminatory prejudice anti Semitic statements or
actions. Allowing for apportioning or deflection of blame, contradicting the stated social and
theological morality of the Islamic faith, this technique has been used as a tool for political control by
regimes in this region for the past century. The relationship between anti Semitic and anti Zionist
views in the Middle East are shown through the nature of the governments involved in the anti Zionist
movement, the relationship these nations had with the state of Israel, the effect it had on the Arabic
people living within these countries and the assumptions made on Judaism and Zionism.
After World War II, Britain found itself in intense conflict with the Jewish community over Jewish
immigration limits, as well as continued conflict with the Arab community over limit levels, as they
had to put an end to the British mandate set in Palestine. At the same time, hundreds of thousands of
Jewish Holocaust survivors and refugees sought a new life far from their destroyed communities in
Europe; thus

Military Revolution Tactics
The Military Revolution was around the seventeenth century, it was an enlarging role in European
affairs. There was multiple things that changed drastically around the seventeenth century that had to
do with the growth of the military expansion, and tactics to improve the country s ability to fight. A
main reason that was said to cause the Military Revolution, said by the historians, was warfare. Also,
power was a major part that had to do with it. The different techniques that were processed in a short
period of time were the start of the Military Revolution. As a matter of fact, someone that changed the
war tactics in an increasing way was Gustavus Adolphus, which was the king of Sweden. Gustavus
army began something called the salvo which was really different from the way they used to fight,
which was the infantry fired row by row. The salvo was that the rows would fire all at once, so that
caused the opposing squadrons to die in massive amounts. The routine he did was that after shooting
the rivals with his pistol volley, they would then jab the enemies with their blades. Also, they started to
use lightweight fighting equipment to make it easily possible to move, and started to train more, to
start developing better disciplinary actions. Gustavus fighting ... Show more content on

That was usually what the countries would focus about around this time, because they thought that if
your country had the best military skills and preparation they would be one of the best countries. For
that reason many officers were able to get education in military schools. They were getting prepared
and well educated to improve the way that they learned their fighting tactics. That had an effect on the
government and had to change it to something that would fit it since military routines were

Frankenstein s ambition
Topic #3
Victor s driving, obsessive ambition ruined his life and led to his own death and the murder of his
loved ones. Illustrate how ambition affects not only Victor and Robert Walton, but also the creature in
Frankenstein.
Thesis Statement: Ambition and the quest for knowledge is a fatal flaw in the characters of Victor
Frankenstein, Robert Walton, and the creature.
In Mary Shelley s 1818 novel, Frankenstein , a recurring motif of ambition and the quest for
knowledge is present among the characters of Victor Frankenstein, Robert Walton and the creature.

Victor begins to possess an unnatural drive in his quest for knowledge where he begins intense study
and experimentation, These thoughts supported my spirits, while I pursued my undertaking with
unremitting ardour. My cheek had grown pale from study, and my person had become emaciated with
confinement eventually isolating himself from his friends and family. As the seasons passed Victor s
obsession with his studies continued to grow, And the same feelings which made me neglect the
scenes around me caused me also to forget those friends who were so many miles absent, and whom I
had not seen for so long a time highlighting how his ambition is a fatal flaw, neglecting the outside
world and his loved ones. Victor s ambition to research and attempt to create life drains him of health
and sensibility, Every night I was oppressed by a slow fever, and I became nervous to a most painful
degree which is ironic to the goal he wishes to achieve. Shelly s use of irony illuminates how Victor s
obsessive ambition has become a fatal flaw.
Victor s blindness to what his end result will produce is immediately revealed when his final work is a
hideous creature. Victor, through repulsion, neglects caring for the creature in its blank slate, gradually
fuelling the ambition it feels for revenge. With the monster isolated, he begins to learn, I learned to

Definition Essay On Tattoos
In different modern culture people often express themselves with tattoos. People express their beliefs
and, in some cases, prove themselves, like fight to prove that they are worthy to be in that culture.
Some cultural tattoos, like ones from Japan, can tell a story or indicate one s social status. People have
to prove to themselves and the other members of their culture that they belong. Cultural tattooing has
many different meanings to many different cultures.
The art of cultural tattooing is the art of marking skin with indelible patterns, pictures, or legends by
making pricks in the skin and inserting colored ink. This art has been referred to as pricking, scarring,
or standing. They use small instruments made of bone, cut into ... Show more content on

For a women who died without such tattoos, it was believed that she would not be recognized by her
parents in the afterlife. Tattoos also signified a person of high status. In 450 BC the greeks wrote that
among the scythians and thracians, tattoos were a mark of nobility, and not to have them was
testimony of low birth . In some tribal cultures the very experience of getting tattooed was viewed as a
test of an individuals courage and inner strength. The process of having razor sharp tools cutting into
one s flesh and having dirt, charcoal based ink, or other substance rubbed into the bleeding wounds
was incredibly painful. It sometimes resulted in infection, convulsions, high fevers, and even death.
Those who endured the experience and survived found camaraderie with other tribal members who
had done the same. But there was greater amount of pressure on individuals even young children to go
through the tattooing ceremony.
For example, in Inuit cultures it was understood that children on the verge of getting their tribal tattoo
must overcome their fears. Whatever the age in life , many early societies throughout the world
marked these rite of passage with tattoos

Are Liberal-democratic States Inherently More Peaceful...
The United States of America proudly present themselves as a humanitarian liberal democratic power
and as the main liberal architect whose role, became more significant in the post Cold War world,

so called New World Order ₁ paired with liberal ideals and the desire to spread peace and democracy

In this essay, after defining some crucial concepts, such as peace, liberal and democratic governments,
I ll present arguments that support the idea that liberal democratic states are not inherently more

Another core element in the liberal vision in economic interdependence, as shown by Scott Burchill:
with the existence of free markets and the possibility of free trade and its potential to create national
wealth, states would expand their range of contacts and levels of understanding, encouraging
international friendship and breaking down the divisions between states, uniting them ₉. Meaning that
trade creates mutual dependence between states which fosters understanding and finally reduces
conflict.
The Democratic peace thesis, whose basic concepts were studied by Kant in the 1700s, is the theory
that suggests that democracies have been pacific in their relations with one other and are unlikely to
go to war with another democracy. Democracies rarely fight each other (an empirical statement)
because (b) they have other means of resolving conflicts between them and therefore do not need to
fight each other (a prudential statement),and (c) they perceive that democracies should not fight each
other (a normative statement about principles of right behavior), which reinforces the empirical
state¬ment. By this reasoning the more democracies there are in the world, the fewer potential
adversaries we and other democracies will have and the wider the zone of peace. russet

Understanding The Old Testament
Understanding the Scriptures, especially those in the Old Testament can seem daunting. There is so
much information in the Old Testament writings that deal with history and customs during that time
period. The storyline is comprised of the people, places, dates, and events. The Old Testament is full
of such details, often to the extent that the reader can be overwhelmed trying to master them (HW 27).
Understanding the history of the time period when the Old Testament was written gives a broader
view as to what was happening so we can better understand the Scriptures. This is important, but the
most important part of the Scriptures is how God reveals himself to us. The Old Testament reveals
God s master plan for us and his loving nature

Essay on The Exploitation and Objectification of Women in...
Women have consistently been perceived as second class citizens. Even now, in times when a social
conscience is present in most individuals, in an era where an atmosphere of gender equality
supposedly exists, it is blatantly apparent that the objectification and marginalization of women is still
a major social issue. In reality, progression in terms of reducing female exploitation has been stagnant
at best. Not only is the degradation of women a major problem that to date has not been eradicated,
but it is actually being endorsed by some music celebrities. There are a growing number of people
who purchase rap albums that support the fallacy that women are mere objects and should be treated
as such. As the popularity of rap continues to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Weisstuch). The underlying message is that women live exclusively for the sexual gratification of
men based on male power, privilege and preference. These images serve as a grim reminder that
women are being exploited as sexual objects through rap videos. Therefore, the objectification of
women through the means of rap music is a major influence in the exploitation of women. In addition
to the actualization of women, rap also promotes extreme violence and abuse towards women. Besides
the ?mild? abuse the vast majority of rappers perpetually depict, some rappers display a loathing so
deep it can only be classified as misogyny. In the song ??97 Bonnie and Clyde,? by Eminem, he says ?
There goes mama, splashing in the water. No more fighting with dad, no more restraining order. Blow
her kisses bye bye, tell mommy you love her? (Bonnie). In a sinister fashion, the song goes on to
describe how he murdered and disposed of his ex wife with the assistance of his three year old
daughter. Here the violence towards women crosses generations and involves the traumatic use and
abuse of a three year old girl. It promotes that violence, even toward our most vulnerable, is
acceptable if they are female. Undeniably, the hip hop culture?s perverse attitude towards the
treatment of women has gradually been accepted by society. It seems society has been desensitized to
the violence of rap by

Apple Pay Is A Method Of Payment Using Mobile And Virtual...
Abstract: Apple Pay is a method of payment using mobile and virtual wallet provided by Apple Inc
and was launched in 2014. It enables the users to make payments using smartphones like iPhone 6, 6
Plus, 6S and 6S Plus, and Apple Watch compatible devices. It digitizes and replaces the need of credit
or debit card and their usual chip and PIN or magnetic stripe method for transactions. Although similar
technologies have been around for a while, it s lacking the broad infrastructure support to make the
mainstream mode of payment. Introduction: Apple Pay is similar to other contactless payments
already being used since 2011 when Research In Motion was certified by MasterCard Worldwide.
Though it s gaining users, at present only about 14% of US households have linked a card to Apple
Pay, increased just a few percentage from the 11% the company reported at the beginning of 2015.
Although Apple has managed to get a big portion of major retail and restaurant chains to integrate
Apple Pay method, it s the small businesses and regional markets that contributes to the significant
number of purchases, which means in order to impact the global payment method and make this
innovation the future, Apple needs to work with both the customers and the global businesses and
facilitate the establishment of the infrastructure that will make it easier to use it in daily basis.
Methodology: To perform a contactless payment, users hold their pre authorised i device against a

Essay Title: How can effective teamwork in organisations make business more profitable?
Nowadays, most of the organizations try to develop some kind of teamwork in their businesses.
Teamwork originated in workplaces, since people began to operate collectively through organisations.
Over the years various rules, ideas, practices and theories that constitute the evolution of teamwork
and management have developed. Teamwork can be considered one of the oldest human activities.
The ancient Chinese, Egyptians, Greeks and Romans dealt with practical teamwork as shown by the

Which bank will be more profitable and has more customers in the future? As understood, teamwork
needs these and many other factors to be effective but the main role regards the organization, the
managers and then the members. But if a business achieve to make an effective teamwork it will be
very advantageous for them.
As written by Harvey Robbins, Teams increase productivity . Team members have the opportunity to
be closer to the reality of the business and particularly to the customers, to the products and generally
to all the problems which are probably existent in the business. This it seems that they know better all
about the situation of the organization, so they can increase the productivity of it by giving new and
clever ideas and also will always be ready to face and solve the problems that occur. Furthermore
teams listeners swiftness in the organizations and this help in a big extent the increasing of
productivity. As much as the development of technology is very high the productivity depends of
individuals. And surely the results of many hands are better, quicker and they are easier from the one
hand.
Alongside that Harvey Robbins suggests pg.11 that Teams increase knowledge, at the right moment is

As You Like It a Romantic Comedy
The major conventions of Shakespearean Romantic Comedy are:
The main action is about love.
The would be lovers must overcome obstacles and misunderstandings before being united in
harmonious union. The ending frequently involves a parade of couples to the altar and a festive mood
or actual celebration (expressed in dance, song, feast, etc.) A Midsummer Night s Dream has four such
couples (not counting Pyramus and Thisbe!); As You Like It has four; Twelfth Night has three; etc.
Frequently (but not always), it contains elements of the improbable, the fantastic, the supernatural, or
the miraculous, e.g. unbelievable coincidences, improbable scenes of recognition/lack of recognition,

Shakespeare s early romantic comedy most indebted to John Lyly is Love s Labour s Lost (c. 1588
97), a confection set in the never never land of Navarre where the King and his companions are visited
by the Princess of France and her ladies in waiting on a diplomatic mission that soon devolves into a
game of courtship. As is often the case in Shakespearean romantic comedy, the young women are sure
of who they are and whom they intend to marry; one cannot be certain that they ever really fall in
love, since they begin by knowing what they want. The young men, conversely, fall all over
themselves in their comically futile attempts to eschew romantic love in favour of more serious
pursuits. They perjure themselves, are shamed and put down, and are finally forgiven their follies by
the women. Shakespeare brilliantly portrays male discomfiture and female self assurance as he
explores the treacherous but desirable world of sexual attraction, while the verbal gymnastics of the
play emphasize the wonder and the delicious foolishness of falling in love.
In The Taming of the Shrew (c. 1590 94), Shakespeare employs a device of multiple plotting that is to
become a standard feature of his romantic comedies. In one plot, derived from Ludovico Ariosto s I
suppositi (Supposes, as it had been translated into English by George

The Secret Annex Essay
If freedom is short of weapons, we must compensate with willpower (Hitler 5). During the 1930 s in
the light of Hitler s Nazi Germens, they decided to invade all the Jewish countries. People were
terrorized, forced to leave their homes and either go to concentration camps or find hiding spots. This
war went on for many years. One of the most famous hiding spots of all though, which housed eight
people was called The Secret Annex . This is where the Frank and the Van Pels family stayed for
twenty five months. They took shelter because they knew the war was getting close. This is about
Anne Frank, and her courageous efforts on surviving, not only in the battle against the Germans but

With the help of these employees they created a book case that would cover up the only entrance to

Experience Of A Blind Man In Raymond Carver s Cathedral
The Experience of a Blind Man
In the short story Cathedral by Raymond Carver, the narrator known as the husband has an encounter

climax of this story when the narrator has a life changing experience with Robert and seeing life
through the eyes of a blind man. In this essay, we will delve into the various character aspects of the

Up until this point, the narrator seems appear as more of an anti hero or negative lead character, this is

much white in the iris, for one thing, and the pupils seemed to move around in the sockets without his
knowing it or being able to stop it. Creepy. (Carver, 2013). Based on this quote we can really see, that
the narrator at this point bases a lot of his perception on what he sees, and he has trouble with opening
his mind. Robert on the other hand, is not at all what the narrator expects He wore brown slacks,
brown shoes, a light brown shirt, a tie, a sports coat. Spiffy. He also had this full beard. But he didn t
use a cane and he didn t wear dark glasses. I d always thought dark glasses were a must for the blind.
Fact was, I wished he had a pair. At first glance, his eyes looked like anyone else s eyes. (Carver,
2013). As the narrator, his wife, and Robert sit down for dinner, the narrator is mentally in awe of how
Robert seems to have no signs of trouble managing to navigate the food on his plate. The blind man
had right away located his foods, he knew just where everything was on his plate. I watched with
admiration as he used his knife and fork on the meat. He d cut two pieces of meat, fork the meat into
his mouth, and then go all out for the scalloped potatoes, the beans next, and then he d tear off a hunk
of buttered bread and eat that. He d follow this up with a big drink of milk. It didn t seem to bother
him to use his fingers once in a while, either. (Carver, 2013). After dinner the narrator, his wife and

Usage Of Different Recording Methods Essay
Usage of different recording methods to observe children s learning and development
Observing children in their natural environments (home, classroom, and outdoors) and recording their
observations are considered important strategies that teachers need to do in order to follow up children
s learning progress and development at the Foundation Stage (Forman, and Hall, 2005). The
observation, which is defined as the process of watching a child at work or play without interfering in
the activity , and recording, the process of documenting the observed activity or behaviour were found
useful to obtain solid information about Early Years children which can be shared with parents and
other members of the teaching team to enable them to design specific learning plans and outcomes
that fulfil the needs of each child (Laffranchinid, 2015). Recording and organising the observations of
children leads to purposeful planning and individualising of the curriculum.
In general, the scope of observations is either to assess a child or group of children; or to evaluate the
effectiveness of provision. However, specific purposes for observation may vary for different children
(Nursery world, 2006). Observation of a child at the foundation stage may involve child s
developmental level, personality and temperament characteristics, gender based behaviour, learning
style, interests, strengths and needs, self concept and confidence. Therefore, several methods of
recordings were proposed to

The Funerary Model Of A Pig Sty
Mingqi
For this first paper assignment I have chosen to write my essay on The Funerary Model of a Pig Sty.
This artwork takes place in Ancient China around c. 2nd century BCE. It was designed and used
within the Han Dynasty early in China s history. These clay models like the pig sty and other burial
goods had a hand in furthering the development of Chinas cultural heritage and beliefs. Within this
paper I will be discussing my chosen MIA artwork, works that are similar but different to this artwork,
and also how all three works, although all different, have the same purpose for what they have been
made for. Then finally touching on how the context of the piece can change based on its surroundings.

(MIA) The roofs are separated into four sections on both rooftops. On the square latrine roofs there are
four triangles. While on the rectangular latrine there are two triangles and two trapezoids for the
rooftops shape. I find that this adds to the depth of the roof giving this piece great detail. One can see
this not just in the structure, but also in the details of the animals found in the pigsty model. For
starters when looking around there are seven animals total. They are a boar or male pig, a dog, a sow
who is feeding her three young piglets, and finally a bird. (MIA) In this particular model each animal
is found doing something known for what that animal does in real life. For example the boar is outside

The Tragedy Of Offensive Realism And The Rise Of China
The tragedy of offensive realism: Classical realism and the rise of China
Realism is one of the most dominant international relations theories in the academic world. But within
Realism, Realists are split on a number of issues. A perfect example of which being the rise of China.
Over the past 30 years China has increased not only in population and power, but has also achieved
one of the strongest economies in the world. The rise of China is seen as problematic by many realists.
Since the end of the Cold War and the fall of the Soviet Union, the US has enjoyed a position of
hegemony in the unipolar power structure of the world. Many fear that the rise of China could upset
the current balance of power. One such individual is a prominent realist scholar, John Mearsheimer.
He believes that war with China is inevitable and calls for the US to do whatever it can to slow China
s rise. Another political theorist Jonathan Kirshner wrote this paper to counter many of Mearsheimer s
claims, stating that Mearsheimer s offensive realism is wrong, and dangerous . Kirshner suggests that
instead of using offensive realism we should look instead to the theories roots in classical realism to
analyse the rise of China.
For realists the international system is anarchical, war is an ever present threat and the survival of a
state is never guaranteed. This is why security is the main focus of most realists. States are forever
seeking greater amounts of security, in a never ending search.

The Issue Of Animal Rights Essay
Animals have the right to equal consideration in regards to their being used for human needs as most
people use animals for their own needs on a daily basis even if only indirectly whether to entertain us,
or to attain the product we are using, or on our dinner plate. The controversy of the treatment of
animals range from some activists and philosophers that are outspoken against animals being used by
humans in any way for our own personal needs, while others are candid in their belief that animals are
here solely for meeting our needs and have no rights at all. Although everyone is able to tailor their
actions to fit their moral, ethical and individual beliefs, and many different categories of unique diets
have come about from the freedom of defining personal standards it is a controversial topic. With
vegetarian and vegan diets , becoming more and more common deciding what is morally justifiable in
respects to the treatment of animals is an essential issue for everyone. The dispute of animal rights is
essentially focused on what rights animals deserve to have and how they should be treated in regards
to being experimented on, for humans entertainment, and their being used as livestock. A controversial
issue in the debate of animal rights is the health of the people that do not consume animals or animal
products and those that do. A large area of the debate is centered around the fact that is widely
believed that meat from animals is necessary for a healthy and

Prostate Cancer In Family
Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers among men, in both Western developed countries
and worldwide (Ferlay 2008). It is a cancer that is only limited to males, as only males have prostate
glands. The exact etiology is still unknown; however, it is thought to be a multifactorial disease with
inherited genetics playing a major role (Xu 2013). Particularly, people with fathers and brothers with
prostate cancer are at increased risk for developing it themselves. Other male relatives have also
shown a linkage, especially if the relative was diagnosed young (Al Olama AA 2014). This report
discusses how prostate cancer aggregates in family, via the analyses of heritability, twin and adoption

The low penetrance genes of prostate cancer found are the following: Amundadottir and colleagues
found a loci at 8q24 (Amundadottir 2006) with the strongest associated SNP as rs1447295 with a
relative risk (RR) for prostate cancer estimated at 1.72. This finding was later corroborated with the
results of the first two GWAS of prostate cancer in May 2007 (Amundadottir 2006 Gudmundsson
2007). These initial GWAS studies analyzed 550,000 SNPs across the genome in cases and controls of
European origin nested from the Cancer Genetic Markers of Susceptibility (Gudmundsson 2007).
Yeager and colleagues confirmed the prostate cancer association with rs1447295 and identified
another independent association at 8q24 (rs6983267). The estimated RRs were 1.26 and 1.58 for
heterozygous and homozygous carriers, respectively (Yeager 2007). Gudmundsson and colleagues
identified another new prostate cancer association at 8q24 (rs16901979). The estimated RR was 1.79
(Gudmundsson 2007). Two independent loci at 17q12 and 17q24 were also found (Gudmundsson
2007). Duggan and colleagues found one locus at 9q33 (Duggan 2007). Thomas and colleagues found
four novel loci at 7p15, 10q11, 10q26 and 11q13 (Thomas 2008).

Satire Definition
Political communication uses different tools to convey the message to the audience. The use of
humour is one such tool for disseminating political news in an alternative way. Political humour is
intended to evoke amusement about governance of society. Political satire is a humour technique
widely used in political communication to express and ridicule the absurdities of its subjects in order
to affect or prevent changes (Kaid and Holtz Bacha, 2007).
The Oxford Dictionary defines satire as the use of humour, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose
and criticise people s stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other
topical issues. Satire is a manner that blends a censorious attitude with humour and wit for humanity
and the human condition. In modern times, the satire is used interchangeably with comedy and parody
to make the audience laugh at the events. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The nature of satires can be formal or indirect. The formal satire is of two types: Juvenlian and
Horatian. Juvenlian satire is angry, personal and bitter in nature and harshly targets the wrong doers
and corrupt political leaders in the society. Horatian satire, on the other hand, is more gentle, tolerant
and witty. It uses laughter to bring a positive change in the society (Ritgero, 2009). Indirect satire does
not address the readers in direct form. Indirect satires are usually fictional narrative, in which the
objects of the satire are characters who make themselves and their opinions ridiculous or obnoxious by
what they think, say, and do, and are sometimes made even more ridiculous by the author s comments
and the narrative style. Therefore, satires have the goal to strike the evil and bring out the reality and

The paradigms through which businesses think and act smarter controls the inherent need to

Impressionism By Mary Cassatt
Impressionism
Impressionism by definition is: a style or movement in painting originating in France
in the 1860s, characterized by a concern with depicting the visual impression of the
moment, especially in terms of the shifting effect of light and color. But I think that
impressionism gives off more of a feeling, and I think that it sets a mood. I think that
impressionist paintings all have a flow to them and they are very elegant and classy.
The impressionist era started in the 1860s, and ended in the 1880s. It developed in
Paris, and spread throughout Europe. At the time, paintings of still life s and landscapes
were not valued. So impressionist paintings brought about a very new change in the art
world. But in the early 1860s, more and more artists began to discover their interests in
impressionist paintings. These artists brought us the incredible pieces of impressionist
art we have today.
One of the artist s I would like to address is Mary Cassatt. She was born on May, 22,
1844 in Allegheny City, Pennsylvania, United States. She was born into an upper
middle class family, that was well educated, and had a profound influence on her. Mary
traveled all over Europe as she grew up. She learned German and French and also had
her first art lessons while she was traveling abroad. It is most likely that her first
exposure to art was at the Paris World s Fair in 1855. Her family objected to her

What Is Amelia Earhart Essay
Being human, we all have fears. A fear is something that scares us or intimidates us. We all also have
dreams or goals. The number one thing that keeps someone from their dream or goal is their fear. If I
took an evening to spend with a single person of my choice, I would choose Amelia Earhart. The first
time I ever heard about Amelia Earhart was in the third grade, from my teacher Mrs. Grothuis. All of
third grade year we studied different pilots or contributors to aviation such as Charles Lindbergh, the
Wright brothers, and my favorite, Amelia Earhart. Not only was she a pilot but she also served as a
nurse in World War 1, and was an author of two books. Earhart also set numerous aviation records for
men and women. In addition to being a glorified pilot, Earhart was a strong advocate for women s
rights. I highly doubt that Amelia Earhart accomplished all these things without a few fears of her
own.
Amelia Earhart was a women with a heart. In her early twenties Earhart was prompted to become a
nurse at the sight of wounded soldiers returning from war. When working in a military hospital
Earhart was around airplanes constantly. Eventually Earhart received her first ride and fell in love with

Essay On Conservative Words
There are so many words in the English language. Although there are words that have the same
meaning from one culture to the next, there are still some which do not. Words can be used to convey
different things. They have characteristics of their own. In fact many of their characteristics can be
illustrated through how they are used in sentences or conversations. Therefore, using these following
words democratic, bigot, feminist, conservative and liberal we look at ways in which demonstrate
their characteristics through illustration . Democractic The word democratic is derived from the word
democracy which represents a people formed and operated government system. Additionally, the word

women should be allowed to fight along side of men in the military and other branches of the armed
forces. Conservative The word conservative is used to describe someone who has their own set of
values and ideal that tend to be more traditional that many others. A conservative person does do well
in adapting and adjusting to change. Conservatives are people who are narrow minded and do not like
to bend or deviate from there stance on things. They believe in empowerment and holding individuals

The Role of African American Women in the Civil Rights...
The African American Civil Rights Movement was a series of protests in the United States South from
approximately 1955 through 1968. The overall goal of the Civil Rights Movement was to achieve
racial equality before the law. Protest tactics were, overall, acts of civil disobedience. Rarely were they
ever intended to be violent. From sit ins to boycotts to marches, the activists involved in the Civil
Rights Movement were vigilant and dedicated to the cause without being aggressive. While African
American men seemed to be the leaders in this epic movement, African American women played a

However, unlike many protest leaders, Clark s most influential work was done behind the scenes.
Septima Poinsette Clark was an educator first and foremost. She got a job teaching as soon as she
graduated from high school and taught children during the day and illiterate adults at night. She first
got involved in political activism when she began campaigning for equal salaries for teachers
regardless of their race. She also joined the National Association for the Advancement of Colored
People (NAACP), which eventually cost Clark her job. Because she was unable to find work, she was
forced to move to Monteagle, Tennessee where she worked as a teacher at Highlander Folk School.
This is where Septima Clark would make her mark on history. She began by teaching literacy cources
where she would teach uneducated adults simple things like how to fill out a voter registration card or
a driver s license forms. Clark saw a need for this type of education and realized that this was the key
to the advancement of the African American people.
It was through these ideas that Septima Clark eventually developed the idea for Citizenship Schools .
These were schools that taught adults how to read and eventually gain citizenship through education.
The citizenship schools are what Septima Clark is most famous for, and for good reason. They not

the veil is a powerful symbol displayed throughout the graphic novel. The veil is used to symbolize
many different social issues within Iran during the Iranian revolution. The veil is first seen by marjane
as a new clothing item with no meaning but as the novel progresses so does marjane s understanding

At the present time, with the development of economy, in order to make large profits, a growing
number of enterprises pay much more attention on choosing distribution channels. Keegan and
Schlegelmich (2001) explained that distribution channel can be considered as the method which is
used for enterprises putting products into the market for consumers to use. The traditional distribution
channel goes from supplier, manufacturer, distributor, wholesaler and retailer (Frazier, 1999). Indirect

According to the above information, generally, direct distribution channel is used when the goods is
large scale and complex. Because the company needs to reduce the cost which is spent during the
distribution channels. In contrast, some other products, such as mobile phone, the company often
choose indirect distribution channel. In this way, they shorten the channel of distribution. Therefore,
the product can reach to consumer for use fast and make more profits. The large number of population
in a nation could influence the choice of distribution channels, because in order to reach consumer the
channel members may be required to use a lot (ibid). In addition, Coughlan et al (2001) explained that
costs must always be reduced in order to increase the pure profits. Fazier (1999) also noted that costs
spend on different channels affecting costs of goods and services differently, which also affects the
margins demanded by the channel members thus increasing the price of products that pass through
those channels . Regulatory issues can be considered as another fact which impacts the choice of
distribution channels. For example, in China the administration of network is not perfect enough,
when online store is used, company should think about the government policies and the media in
China also can be made use of. When companies consider the channels of distribution, the

combat any side effects caused by the other medications. Patients who exhibit a higher rate of

Pros And Cons Of Animal Testing
An animal test is any scientific experiment or test in which a live animal is forced to undergo
something that is likely to cause them pain, suffering, distress or lasting harm. As right now, millions
of mice, rats, rabbits, primates, cats, dogs, and other animals are locked inside barren cages in
laboratories across the country. They languish in pain, suffer from extreme frustration, ache with
loneliness, and long to be free. The complete lack of environmental enrichment and stress of their
living situation cause some animals to develop neurotic types of behavior such as incessantly spinning
in circles, rocking back and forth, pulling out their own fur, and even biting themselves. They shake
and cower in fear whenever someone approaches, and their blood pressure spikes dramatically. After
enduring a life of pain, loneliness, and terror, almost all of them will be killed. There are many non
animal test methods that can be used in place of test on animals. Not only are these non animal test
more humane, they also have potential to be cheaper, faster, and more relevant to humans. Some of
this methods are non invasive imaging techniques such as MRIs and CT scans, computer models and
simulations, and stem cell and genetic testing methods. Some of the experimentations conducted on
animals today is required by law, most of it is not. In fact, a number of countries have implements

By being the chosen people, to the Hebrews it meant that they had reasons to serve God. When God
first appeared before them and annihilated the Egyptian army, Moses explained that god put the fear of
him (Exodus 20, line 20) upon the Hebrews so that they would not sin. The Hebrews out of fear would
then serve God. God then made a contract like condition, where if they obeyed his rules blessings
shall come upon you and overtake you (Deuteronomy 28, line 2). On the other hand, if they disobeyed
his rules, curses shall come upon you and overtake you (Deuteronomy 28, line 15). Knowing his true

absolute. Thus they would obey this simple merit system,

JANUARY 7, 2013
Large corporations such as Wal Mart or Home Depot often come under criticism for putting mom and
pop shops out of business. While this may be a valid criticism, the consumers neglect to realize that
they play the biggest part in shutting these businesses down. Consumers across the country are always
looking for the best deals or the lowest prices, and in most cases the larger corporations are where
products can be found at the lowest price. Many small business owners and the populations of small

This leads to a stronger local economy, and ultimately a thriving community. Stores like Wal Mart are
famous for keeping their prices so low. This is one reason why they are able to maintain a grip on the
consumers of an area. They accomplish this by keeping the cost to produce and transport the goods
low. In January, a study by the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp. found that, an
individual family could save $589 a year on groceries by shopping at a supercenter. Overall, shoppers
could save $3.76 billion in merchandise nationwide. (Blazier, A, 2004) A major reason they can keep
prices lower than mom and pop run businesses is their ability to buy merchandise in bulk. Buying in
bulk works the same way it does for a consumer. The more of a product that is purchased, the less the
cost is per unit. Consumers see this every day when they go to stores like Sam s Club or Costco. When
they buy their merchandise in bulk, they are able to offer it to the consumer at a lower price. (Kale,
2011) This is what could eventually drive the mom and pop owned businesses out of the area, and
draw a negative criticism from the public. The interesting thing about this criticism is that the public
complains about Wal Mart

They were also criticized for the amount of time the detainees, also called genocidaires, were
imprisoned without trial. Their response to these accusations was to simply conduct mass releases of
these inmates without proper trial, giving accused genocidaires a second shot at freedom that has
outraged not only the citizens of Africa, but people worldwide as well. But how can such a deeply
scorned nation recover from tragedies such as these? Reconciliation generally is defined as a process
that leads to developing normal interaction between ethnic and political opponents based on mutual
acceptance. Author Ari Kohen believes the Rwandan government has neither fostered reconciliation or
allowed for justice to be served. He states the Rwandan government,

If the medication to render the patient s unconsciousness fails, awareness occurs. The patients may
feel pain, while the pain and sleep medication fail the paralytic agent doesn t, making it impossible for
the patient to communicate this dire situation to the surgeon/anesthesiologist. This awareness occurs
infrequently, and the timespan and the harshness vary. Patients may or may not feel pain. Some just
feel lots of pressure. It is estimated that 1 2 in every 1000 general anesthesia patients experience some
level of awareness. Common cause of anesthesia awareness is insufficient anesthesia and equipment
failure of misuse. Using a deep anesthetic during high risk emergency surgeries may not be in the best
interest of the patient. In these situations, awareness might not be completely avoidable. There are
stages of Awareness. Gradual suppression of cognitive function. The 4 stages of awareness during
general anesthesia are conscious awareness with explicit memory, with this it may or may not be
associated with pain but includes a state of helplessness. Some patients can go on to develop severe
unexplained psychiatric disorder. Consciousness without memory and, subconscious awareness

Narrative Essay Frankenstein
Hello, I am known as the Creature, and I am creating this paper to document what has happened after
my supposed death. Humans believe that I was terminated from Earth after I drifted off into the ice
cold ocean. It had been many days where I lay afloat, with absolutely no food supply or warmth. I was
in solitude, and I knew that this was the end for me. Besides the frigid cold and the hypoglycemia, I
finally felt happy with myself. I wouldn t have to deal with the hostile and rude humans, I would go to
a better place a happier place. But, unfortunately, fate decided that I would stay on Earth, as I kept
frozen for more than 200 years, preserved in the ice. I woke up to find myself on a granulated surface
accompanied with an intense heat, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I do not have a name, but I am referred to as the Creature. Can you explain to me where I am and why
I am enclosed here?
You are in the Bahamas and brought you here because we wanted to study you.
The Bahamas? I have never quite heard of this. I come from Geneva, born in the University of
Ingolstadt and Victor Frankenstein is my creator.
Ok good, good. Tom! Google Mr. Victor Frankenstein. In the meantime, let s discuss your procedure.
We will be reformatting your face and skin color in order to resemble more like a, uh, human. This
should help you connect with the world, and we would like to study the mental effects of plastic
surgery. Now, since you can speak, I have to ask, is this okay, um, Mr. Creature, if we can perform this
operation?
I thought to myself, An operation to correct my features! Of course! So I said yes in a heartbeat! I was
yet again put to sleep, this time with some type of special gas.
My eyes focused accompanied with a tender pain jutting throughout my body. I felt much more
stitched together and could not wait to see the results. I quickly got up to view myself in the mirror
and sharp bursts of pain filled my senses. Dr. Delano rushed inside my room and laid me back onto

Bearded Iris Research Paper
There is something majestic and magical about the Bearded Iris. The only color that can not be found
in this beautiful flower is bright red. The bulbs are easy to plant and they can spread rather quickly.
These perennials are hardy in US Zones 3 9, needing a freeze so they can go dormant. They need to be
planted in late summer or early fall. They like a sunny spot with at least six hours of full sun to help to
keep the rhizomes dry. They grow best in a neutral soil and only need granular fertilizer a couple time
a year. The best times to feed them is in the early spring and after they bloom. It s best to plant them
about 16 18 inches apart for good air circulation. They do not need mulching because constant
moisture will rot the rhizomes.

Jeff Immelt s Administration Style
INTRODUCTION Jeff Immelt s administration style is strongly not quite the same as that of his
ancestor. His quality is in rousing others by empowering them and relating with them at their level, in
contrast to the intimidating way of work followed by Jack Welch. Notwithstanding both men being
similarly powerful, Immelt s kin well disposed general fellow initiative style has made an altogether
different environment at GE and drew acclaim from the positions of his subordinates. In 2001, soon
after Immelt took up his new challenge as the CEO of one of the most successful companies of the
20th century, an arrangement of occasions in a broader sense changed the corporate scene. Immelt s
prompt test was to deal with the effect of the aftermath of the September 11 assaults and a consequent
arrangement of prominent corporate outrages like those of Worldcom, Enron and some others to name
a few. These occasions made critical instability and prompted an emergency of certainty among
financial specialists and fuelled disdain in the group on the loose. Notwithstanding a sliding offer
value, Immelt perceived that dealing with GE s presentation to the business cycle would be basic to
the association s long haul soundness (Grant 2008, pp. 317 318). He tried to console GE shareholders
that the occupation of the CEO was not to deal with the offer value however to deal with the
organization for long haul benefit development. To keep up the trust of the group and GE
shareholders, Immelt

  • 2. Guitar Recital Essay Guitar Recital This project was interesting to me because I really don t take the time to listen to different types of music like classical guitar. This was my first time listening to this type of music and it was pretty good. It showed me that there are more than a few types of music out there. The CD I chose was the 2013 Guitar Recital by Philip Hemmo. The tracks that where on it are Ciaconna, Introduction et Polonaise, Adagio, Caprice, Danza Mora, Julia Florida and Sevillana. My favorite song was Adagio which homage to J. S. Bach. It was calm and was played a perfect speed. It slowed down and sped up through the whole song. Also the volume of the guitar was quit and loud threw the different parts of the song. It is also a very long song ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Anti Semitic And Anti Zionist Movement By the late nineteenth century, the Jews, who had been in exile for almost two thousand years, found their ancestral homeland in Palestine, which was largely occupied by Arabs and governed by the Turks; this dilemma sparked many problems within the Middle East. Since the rise of the Zionist movement and the establishment of the State of Israel in May 1948, political leaders of predominately Muslim nations in the Middle East have made discriminatory prejudice anti Semitic statements or actions. Allowing for apportioning or deflection of blame, contradicting the stated social and theological morality of the Islamic faith, this technique has been used as a tool for political control by regimes in this region for the past century. The relationship between anti Semitic and anti Zionist views in the Middle East are shown through the nature of the governments involved in the anti Zionist movement, the relationship these nations had with the state of Israel, the effect it had on the Arabic people living within these countries and the assumptions made on Judaism and Zionism. After World War II, Britain found itself in intense conflict with the Jewish community over Jewish immigration limits, as well as continued conflict with the Arab community over limit levels, as they had to put an end to the British mandate set in Palestine. At the same time, hundreds of thousands of Jewish Holocaust survivors and refugees sought a new life far from their destroyed communities in Europe; thus ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There was multiple things that changed drastically around the seventeenth century that had to do with the growth of the military expansion, and tactics to improve the country s ability to fight. A main reason that was said to cause the Military Revolution, said by the historians, was warfare. Also, power was a major part that had to do with it. The different techniques that were processed in a short period of time were the start of the Military Revolution. As a matter of fact, someone that changed the war tactics in an increasing way was Gustavus Adolphus, which was the king of Sweden. Gustavus army began something called the salvo which was really different from the way they used to fight, which was the infantry fired row by row. The salvo was that the rows would fire all at once, so that caused the opposing squadrons to die in massive amounts. The routine he did was that after shooting the rivals with his pistol volley, they would then jab the enemies with their blades. Also, they started to use lightweight fighting equipment to make it easily possible to move, and started to train more, to start developing better disciplinary actions. Gustavus fighting ... • 5. Frankenstein s ambition Topic #3 Victor s driving, obsessive ambition ruined his life and led to his own death and the murder of his loved ones. Illustrate how ambition affects not only Victor and Robert Walton, but also the creature in Frankenstein. Thesis Statement: Ambition and the quest for knowledge is a fatal flaw in the characters of Victor Frankenstein, Robert Walton, and the creature. In Mary Shelley s 1818 novel, Frankenstein , a recurring motif of ambition and the quest for knowledge is present among the characters of Victor Frankenstein, Robert Walton and the creature. Victor s obsessive ambition is his fatal flaw, ruining his life and leading to the murder of his loved ones and eventually his own death. Robert Walton shares a similar ambition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Victor begins to possess an unnatural drive in his quest for knowledge where he begins intense study and experimentation, These thoughts supported my spirits, while I pursued my undertaking with unremitting ardour. My cheek had grown pale from study, and my person had become emaciated with confinement eventually isolating himself from his friends and family. As the seasons passed Victor s obsession with his studies continued to grow, And the same feelings which made me neglect the scenes around me caused me also to forget those friends who were so many miles absent, and whom I had not seen for so long a time highlighting how his ambition is a fatal flaw, neglecting the outside world and his loved ones. Victor s ambition to research and attempt to create life drains him of health and sensibility, Every night I was oppressed by a slow fever, and I became nervous to a most painful degree which is ironic to the goal he wishes to achieve. Shelly s use of irony illuminates how Victor s obsessive ambition has become a fatal flaw. Victor s blindness to what his end result will produce is immediately revealed when his final work is a hideous creature. Victor, through repulsion, neglects caring for the creature in its blank slate, gradually fuelling the ambition it feels for revenge. With the monster isolated, he begins to learn, I learned to distinguish between the operations ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In some tribal cultures the very experience of getting tattooed was viewed as a test of an individuals courage and inner strength. The process of having razor sharp tools cutting into one s flesh and having dirt, charcoal based ink, or other substance rubbed into the bleeding wounds was incredibly painful. It sometimes resulted in infection, convulsions, high fevers, and even death. Those who endured the experience and survived found camaraderie with other tribal members who had done the same. Meaning that trade creates mutual dependence between states which fosters understanding and finally reduces conflict. The Democratic peace thesis, whose basic concepts were studied by Kant in the 1700s, is the theory that suggests that democracies have been pacific in their relations with one other and are unlikely to go to war with another democracy. Democracies rarely fight each other (an empirical statement) because (b) they have other means of resolving conflicts between them and therefore do not need to fight each other (a prudential statement),and (c) they perceive that democracies should not fight each other (a normative statement about principles of right behavior), which reinforces the empirical state¬ment. The Old Testament is full of such details, often to the extent that the reader can be overwhelmed trying to master them (HW 27). Understanding the history of the time period when the Old Testament was written gives a broader view as to what was happening so we can better understand the Scriptures. This is important, but the most important part of the Scriptures is how God reveals himself to us. The Old Testament reveals God s master plan for us and his loving nature ... • 9. Essay on The Exploitation and Objectification of Women in... Women have consistently been perceived as second class citizens. Even now, in times when a social conscience is present in most individuals, in an era where an atmosphere of gender equality supposedly exists, it is blatantly apparent that the objectification and marginalization of women is still a major social issue. In reality, progression in terms of reducing female exploitation has been stagnant at best. Not only is the degradation of women a major problem that to date has not been eradicated, but it is actually being endorsed by some music celebrities. These images serve as a grim reminder that women are being exploited as sexual objects through rap videos. Therefore, the objectification of women through the means of rap music is a major influence in the exploitation of women. In addition to the actualization of women, rap also promotes extreme violence and abuse towards women. Besides the ?mild? abuse the vast majority of rappers perpetually depict, some rappers display a loathing so deep it can only be classified as misogyny. In the song ??97 Bonnie and Clyde,? by Eminem, he says ? There goes mama, splashing in the water. No more fighting with dad, no more restraining order. Blow her kisses bye bye, tell mommy you love her? (Bonnie). In a sinister fashion, the song goes on to describe how he murdered and disposed of his ex wife with the assistance of his three year old daughter. Here the violence towards women crosses generations and involves the traumatic use and abuse of a three year old girl. It promotes that violence, even toward our most vulnerable, is acceptable if they are female. Undeniably, the hip hop culture?s perverse attitude towards the treatment of women has gradually been accepted by society. It seems society has been desensitized to the violence of rap by ... It enables the users to make payments using smartphones like iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6S and 6S Plus, and Apple Watch compatible devices. It digitizes and replaces the need of credit or debit card and their usual chip and PIN or magnetic stripe method for transactions. Although similar technologies have been around for a while, it s lacking the broad infrastructure support to make the mainstream mode of payment. Introduction: Apple Pay is similar to other contactless payments already being used since 2011 when Research In Motion was certified by MasterCard Worldwide. Though it s gaining users, at present only about 14% of US households have linked a card to Apple Pay, increased just a few percentage from the 11% the company reported at the beginning of 2015. Although Apple has managed to get a big portion of major retail and restaurant chains to integrate Apple Pay method, it s the small businesses and regional markets that contributes to the significant number of purchases, which means in order to impact the global payment method and make this innovation the future, Apple needs to work with both the customers and the global businesses and facilitate the establishment of the infrastructure that will make it easier to use it in daily basis. Shakespeare s early romantic comedy most indebted to John Lyly is Love s Labour s Lost (c. 1588 97), a confection set in the never never land of Navarre where the King and his companions are visited by the Princess of France and her ladies in waiting on a diplomatic mission that soon devolves into a game of courtship. As is often the case in Shakespearean romantic comedy, the young women are sure of who they are and whom they intend to marry; one cannot be certain that they ever really fall in love, since they begin by knowing what they want. The young men, conversely, fall all over themselves in their comically futile attempts to eschew romantic love in favour of more serious pursuits. They perjure themselves, are shamed and put down, and are finally forgiven their follies by the women. Shakespeare brilliantly portrays male discomfiture and female self assurance as he explores the treacherous but desirable world of sexual attraction, while the verbal gymnastics of the play emphasize the wonder and the delicious foolishness of falling in love. In The Taming of the Shrew (c. 1590 94), Shakespeare employs a device of multiple plotting that is to become a standard feature of his romantic comedies. The observation, which is defined as the process of watching a child at work or play without interfering in the activity , and recording, the process of documenting the observed activity or behaviour were found useful to obtain solid information about Early Years children which can be shared with parents and other members of the teaching team to enable them to design specific learning plans and outcomes that fulfil the needs of each child (Laffranchinid, 2015). Recording and organising the observations of children leads to purposeful planning and individualising of the curriculum. In general, the scope of observations is either to assess a child or group of children; or to evaluate the effectiveness of provision. They are a boar or male pig, a dog, a sow who is feeding her three young piglets, and finally a bird. The Tragedy Of Offensive Realism And The Rise Of China The tragedy of offensive realism: Classical realism and the rise of China Realism is one of the most dominant international relations theories in the academic world. But within Realism, Realists are split on a number of issues. A perfect example of which being the rise of China. Over the past 30 years China has increased not only in population and power, but has also achieved one of the strongest economies in the world. The rise of China is seen as problematic by many realists. Since the end of the Cold War and the fall of the Soviet Union, the US has enjoyed a position of hegemony in the unipolar power structure of the world. Many fear that the rise of China could upset the current balance of power. One such individual is a prominent realist scholar, John Mearsheimer. He believes that war with China is inevitable and calls for the US to do whatever it can to slow China s rise. Another political theorist Jonathan Kirshner wrote this paper to counter many of Mearsheimer s claims, stating that Mearsheimer s offensive realism is wrong, and dangerous . Kirshner suggests that instead of using offensive realism we should look instead to the theories roots in classical realism to analyse the rise of China. For realists the international system is anarchical, war is an ever present threat and the survival of a state is never guaranteed. This is why security is the main focus of most realists. Impressionism By Mary Cassatt Impressionism Impressionism by definition is: a style or movement in painting originating in France in the 1860s, characterized by a concern with depicting the visual impression of the moment, especially in terms of the shifting effect of light and color. But I think that impressionism gives off more of a feeling, and I think that it sets a mood. I think that impressionist paintings all have a flow to them and they are very elegant and classy. The impressionist era started in the 1860s, and ended in the 1880s. It developed in Paris, and spread throughout Europe. At the time, paintings of still life s and landscapes were not valued. So impressionist paintings brought about a very new change in the art world. But in the early 1860s, more and more artists began to discover their interests in impressionist paintings. These artists brought us the incredible pieces of impressionist art we have today. One of the artist s I would like to address is Mary Cassatt. She was born on May, 22, 1844 in Allegheny City, Pennsylvania, United States. She was born into an upper middle class family, that was well educated, and had a profound influence on her. Mary traveled all over Europe as she grew up. She learned German and French and also had her first art lessons while she was traveling abroad. It is most likely that her first exposure to art was at the Paris World s Fair in 1855. Her family objected to her becoming a professional

The number one thing that keeps someone from their dream or goal is their fear. If I took an evening to spend with a single person of my choice, I would choose Amelia Earhart. The first time I ever heard about Amelia Earhart was in the third grade, from my teacher Mrs. Grothuis. All of third grade year we studied different pilots or contributors to aviation such as Charles Lindbergh, the Wright brothers, and my favorite, Amelia Earhart. Not only was she a pilot but she also served as a nurse in World War 1, and was an author of two books. Earhart also set numerous aviation records for men and women. In addition to being a glorified pilot, Earhart was a strong advocate for women s rights. I highly doubt that Amelia Earhart accomplished all these things without a few fears of her own. When spending an evening with Earhart I would make sure to thank her for the influence she had that gave me the freedom to choose from a vast selection of career options. • 38. Pros And Cons Of Animal Testing An animal test is any scientific experiment or test in which a live animal is forced to undergo something that is likely to cause them pain, suffering, distress or lasting harm. As right now, millions of mice, rats, rabbits, primates, cats, dogs, and other animals are locked inside barren cages in laboratories across the country. They languish in pain, suffer from extreme frustration, ache with loneliness, and long to be free. The complete lack of environmental enrichment and stress of their living situation cause some animals to develop neurotic types of behavior such as incessantly spinning in circles, rocking back and forth, pulling out their own fur, and even biting themselves. They shake and cower in fear whenever someone approaches, and their blood pressure spikes dramatically. After enduring a life of pain, loneliness, and terror, almost all of them will be killed. There are many non animal test methods that can be used in place of test on animals. Not only are these non animal test more humane, they also have potential to be cheaper, faster, and more relevant to humans. Some of this methods are non invasive imaging techniques such as MRIs and CT scans, computer models and simulations, and stem cell and genetic testing methods. This is one reason why they are able to maintain a grip on the consumers of an area. They accomplish this by keeping the cost to produce and transport the goods low. In January, a study by the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp. found that, an individual family could save $589 a year on groceries by shopping at a supercenter. Overall, shoppers could save $3.76 billion in merchandise nationwide. (Blazier, A, 2004) A major reason they can keep prices lower than mom and pop run businesses is their ability to buy merchandise in bulk. Buying in bulk works the same way it does for a consumer. The more of a product that is purchased, the less the cost is per unit. Consumers see this every day when they go to stores like Sam s Club or Costco. When they buy their merchandise in bulk, they are able to offer it to the consumer at a lower price. But for two years following the Rwandan massacre, courts were shut down and when they reopened, 125,000 arrests regarding the massacre were made in a single year (Kohen, 65). Over the years, however, various human rights organizations for the prisons criticized the Rwandan government for their treatment of those inmates. Their response to these accusations was to simply conduct mass releases of these inmates without proper trial, giving accused genocidaires a second shot at freedom that has outraged not only the citizens of Africa, but people worldwide as well.
