The Joint-By-Joint Approach
The purpose of this article is to introduce the joint by joint approach when treating any types of
injury. The idea of the article is based on the Functional Movement screen to treat joint by joint and
learn how the movements of the joints relate to training. The human body is made of muscle,
tissue, and bones and the joints join it. The article provides understanding of how the athletic
trainer or physical therapist should treat the injury.
The trainer or therapist should focus on muscles above and below the painful or injured part. The
authors argue that when the player or patient have lower back pain the therapist should treat hip
instead of focusing only on lower back. People who suffer from knee pain might have lost ankle

Censorship is Not an Effective Way to Protect Children Essay
Teachers suspended, radio and television personalities fired, authors disinvited to speaking events,
all because their words, opinions or shows did not agree with what a handful of people consider
appropriate. One would think these types of situations regarding censorship happened decades ago,
not in a time now, where people pride themselves on having an open mind and the ability of
forward thinking. However, censorshipstill prevails in America today, and not only censorship of
pornographyor violence on television, but it seeps into our textbooks and classrooms too, all in the
name of protecting the children. Many reasons exist for people to favor censorship, both by the
government and in schools. These people may feel... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(National Coalition Against Censorship) This means that the government censors what public
schools can teach. According to the law, teachers can only to teach about contraceptives by telling
of their failure rates. Teachers cannot answer a direct question from a student if it does not relate
directly to the abstinence only lifestyle. (National Coalition Against Censorship) This provides an
unrealistic and dangerous curriculum in our public schools. Children should have access to
material that will lead them to make better and healthier decisions about sex and material that will
lead them into adulthood better prepared. Some school administrators, teachers, and parents do not
make informed decisions when deciding what material students can access. They merely read a bad
review or skim the pages of a book and decide it has unsuitable content. Ellen Hopkins, an author of
the young adult series, Crank, notes that books like hers have a helpful storyline for young adults,
but adults quickly to jump to conclusions that they contain inappropriate material. (Hopkins) Books
based on touchy subjects like drug use and teen prostitution help teenagers who read them because
they show outcomes to choices, [and] offer understanding. (Hopkins) Although not all children

Social, Political And Economic Implications Of Money
Throughout the course of this semester, we have examined the role of money in our society and
have been introduced to scholars and economists that have offered rationale for the social, political
and economic implications of money. One overwhelming theme that has lingered throughout most
of the readings and lectures is the idea of inequality, particularly within the scope of the American
economy. While other economies such as China or India are labor based economies, I have found
that America s Capitalist economy is fueled by multiple facets racial inequality. The moral
argument against racial inequality under an economic lens is simple yet, expected; when we deny
opportunities for people of color in the same way we have them established... Show more content on

Black men are being denied the chance of a full life with all of the rights; privileges and
opportunities of white men and similarly, the families/communities from which they come from
are also at a significant disadvantage. A National Bureau of Research study found that Black
families between 2004 2008 were 54% more likely to be charged higher on their mortgage rates
than white families. This fact alone drives two main issues I will explore in this paper: the
implications of socioeconomics and how inequality drives the American economy through the lens
of mortgage lending.
One theorist I will use to explore these ideas of inequality is John Maynard Keynes. Keynes
argued that capitalism is a mere congery of possessors and pursuers (Keynes 60) and he also
asserted that economic output is only based on the aggregate demand . Between 2004 2008, when
Black families were getting charged higher interest rates on their homes than white families with
similar incomes, large banks were pocketing millions of extra dollars from these families as many
of the rates today would have been considered sub prime rates .
This predatory act placed against people of color encouraged classism and as a result led to
negative socioeconomic outcomes moreover, the notion of white

The Beliefs Of Consumerism In American Society
One worldview our society accepts is consumerism. Consumerism is the idea of spending money
and time on things which interest our minds. Each person consumes different objects whether it be
video games, accessories, clothes, or even pets. Consumerism is not just buying things that we
want, it can also be activities that we spend time on. For example, schools can consume our time
to get good grades on tests and projects. Sports can also consume our time on practices and
competitions to grow in our abilities and skills in that particular sport. Purchasing material goods
and the time we spend looking at things or a physical activity is the consumerismin most American
societies.
There are many different beliefs to consumerism. One main belief ... Show more content on

As a consumer, I buy from different things I see online and through television. Commercials and
big, colorful ads get my attention to look into the item more which usually ends up with me
buying that item. To decide what I wanted for Christmas as a young girl, I would watch
television all day. Commercials of neat toys and kids playing with them made me want that
item, so I would put it on my list. One year I had such a long list of toys, my parents made me
cross out the less important ones because so they did not disappoint me if I did not find one

The Unredeemed Captain Is The Factual Telling Of The...
The Unredeemed Captain is the factual telling of the Deerfield Massacre and the ways it
effected the Williams family who lost their daughter as a captive to the Bear tribe of the
Mohawk Native Americans. The book deeply explores religion and how it relates to the ideas of
savagery and family through comparison of experiences in the lives of the Puritans and the
lives of the Native American captors. The Deerfield Massacre occurred in 1704 in
Massachusetts. The massacre was carried out by a tribe of Native Americans in retaliation
against French and English attacks. The small town of Deerfield was raided and about 112
people were taken captive with 47 more being slain on the spot. The captives are then forced to
march 250 miles through the snow to reach the Native American settlement. Most of the captives
were ill prepared to take this journey and those who were not able to keep up are slain by the
captors. Only 89 people survived the journey with all teenagers, most adult men and a few others
making it to Canada. English soldiers arrive to Deerfield too late to engage in combat and decide
that the risk of following the captives far outweighs any benefits. Over the next few years, the
captives are killed, ransomed, or adopted into the culture. The book focuses on one familythat has
all of the previous done to them, the Williams. The head of the Williams household is John
Williams or Rev. Williams. Rev. Williams is a highly regarded minister to the Puritans, regarded as a

Chemistry s Presence in Technology Isn t Always Blatantly...
It is typical when analyzing technology for the presence of chemistry to be hardly noticed or
failed to be seen at all. This is a false assessment, and is caused by simply not looking close
enough. Chemistry s presence is not always blatantly obvious, even though it is truly at the root
of most all technology we use on a daily basis. One of the fields of technology that we do in fact
use on a daily basis that chemistry impacts, and therefore impacts whole other genres of technology,
is the battery. Although often taken for granted, the battery is a huge part of the technology we use
today and chemistry is integral to it. The advancement of chemistry advances the technology and
materials we use to make batteries and therefore advances a... Show more content on

With the foundation of the battery s origin understood, a basic understanding of how a battery
works is needed to see how new resources improved upon it. A battery consists of one or many
cells. Within a cell there is a cathode and an anode that are separated by an electrolyte. The
electrolyte is typically an acid or a salt. When a closed circuit is made between the anode and the
cathode, the positive ions move from the anode to the cathode, and the negative ions move from
the cathode to the anode. The movement of ions causes a current that can be harnessed (Battery
168). The whole idea of a battery is a chemistry concept, but where chemistry is useful now is
finding new materials for the anode, cathode, and electrolyte to make stronger currents. It is easy
to see that current day batteries have advanced beyond using vinegar and iron bars such as the
Parthian Battery. Typical batteries today are alkaline batteries. These batteries are far more
complex than the Parthian Battery and use a wide array of elements to create a strong current.
Alkaline batteries are able to be and used because of knowledge we have gained through chemistry
research. It was not by accident that certain elements came together to create an alkaline battery, it
was through pursuit in the understanding of chemistry. The battery was able to be advanced by
discovery of new resources that were found to be useful in a battery cell, and this concept

Desensitization In Heart Of Darkness
The world will remain as brutal as our level of desensitization to its brutality. (Unknown) Many
humans in this world no longer feel shock or distress at scenes of cruelty, violence, or suffering
as they are overexposed to such images. In other words, these people have become desensitized
and display no empathy towards others. In the event that one is exposed to these types of
surroundings on a regular basis they begin to adapt and become unaware of how heinous their
actions actually are. Though not everyone partakes in these atrocious acts of violence, they are still
in the wrong as they are simply bystanders watching the victims being abused. In essence
desensitization causes humans to adapt, become callous to their surroundings, and become
apathetic towards the others right to live. Adaptation is the action or process in which an organism
becomes suited to its environment. As an illustration, this article on violence in prison focuses on
the idea that one adapts to their surroundings and gets used to what is happening around them. I
learned to adapt to my situation, but adaptation came at a cost. I became desensitized to the
violence that I witnessed around me (Papa, 2016). This shows that the men in prison have become
immune to the events that are occurring. The biggest adaptation seen in The Heart of Darkness is
in Marlow as he not only becomes desensitized to brutality in the Congo, but also adapts his morals
to fit the circumstances as well. You know I

The Consequences Of The Donner-Reed Party
The Donner Reed Party was a bunch of brave people ready to begin a dangerous journey to
freedom. For many people, freedom meant different things to many people. For some, it meant
a new life or a new place. For others, it meant adventure. The Donner Reed Party was led by
George Donner, Jacob Donner, and James Reeds. These men wanted a new life and better life.
The Donner and Reed families came on the journey with support, love, and an adventure. One
day on the journey, one guide never arrived which made it difficult to know where to go. Since
the guide didn t show up and it caused many conflicts. For instance, two men got into a fight, and
one of them killed the other and he was punished (McAndrew 36). The Donner Reed Party was a
group of emigrants traveling to California, along with the journey the Donner Reed Party
encountered many obstacles while on the Oregon Trail this led to many consequences, and they
dealt with theses problems in many different ways. The Donner Reed Party was a group of
people moving to California, looking for a new beginning. Living in California was a lot
cheaper which was better for many people (Calabro Marian 17). California was mostly empty,
so the land was free. This allowed people to build new homes, and buildings (Calabro Marian
18). The Donner Reed Party was originally from Springfield. In Springfield, the wealthy people
had it better than the people who weren t as wealthy. Moving to California was a perfect chance

Who Is Harriet Wilson s Fallen Women
Fallen Women: Sexual, Racial, and Moral Inequality in Harriet Wilson s Our Nig Since time
immemorial, women have undergone massive discrimination, prejudices, and gender restrictive
norms established by patriarchal society. In modern history, these restrictions include limited access
to education, unequal remuneration placements and limited job advancement. In nineteenth
century, however, women had to struggle with different type of discrimination. Particularly, they
had no freedom because everything in their life was controlled by men. Such agenda was
supported by marriage laws, which basically stated that husband owned his wife. Divorces or runs
away from miserable marriages were unacceptable and punished by the society as well as the law....

Racial differences play a significant role in marriage dissolutions a scenario that is replicated in
Wilson s novel. Mag, surrounded him a priceless gem , her virginity, and gives birth to a child
who dies within a few weeks (6). In this regard, women are portrayed as assets that are at the
disposal of men to not only procreate but also satisfy men s sexual desires. The woman is
afterwards disowned by the white gentleman punctuating a miserable life into the gloomy future.
Fundamentally, the loss of virginity to a person who is neither a husband nor a prospective
mate is considered a failure notably in the novel. For this reason, as a tempted and fallen woman,
Mag is despised by her own family, community and becomes an outcast of the society, a fallen
woman. Upon the untimely separation from the white gentleman, it is evident that life will no
longer be a bed of roses for Mag considering the fact that the child that could serve as a unifying
factor between her and the man, dies only days after his/her entry onto planet earth. Losing her
position in the society and having no money to support herself, she decides to wed a black man
who feels sympathy towards her and wants to make her future better. It seems that Mag has no

while furosemide caused hypokalemia. These findings are important since both plants might have a
potential to be used as a future diuretics without hypokalemia which is a common finding with use
of current diuretics such loop diuretics or hydrochlorothiazide. Because there was no effect of the
plants` extract on plasma electrolytes and plasma osmolarity, it might be suggested that the active

Overcoming Barriers In Ernest Buckler s Penny In The Dust
One will face various barriers in their lifetime. When an individual overcomes a problem, they
will always obtain something in reward of their effort. Some individuals are overwhelmed by
the challenges before them. Others are able to get past the issues and obtain a reward. There are
numerous obstacles in one s life that must be overcome in order to obtain something of personal
value. In the short story Penny in the Dust by Ernest Buckler, Peter faced the obstacle of being
unable to communicate with his father. Over the years Peter spent with his dad, he developed the
perspective that his father was humorless and severe . This view was acquired because his dad
was more accustomed to expressing his emotions toward his son with actions instead of words.
Peter was able to overcome the miscommunication years later at his father s funeral when he found
the penny that was gifted to him by his dad in his father s breast pocket. From the experience, Peter
learned that his dad had feelings for him. Penny in the Dust is not the only short story that has to

Analysis Of The Judgement Of Thamus By Neil Postman
Neil Postman, a firm protester against technology, begins his argument in The Judgement of
Thamus with a parable about a king rejecting an inventor who incorporates writing into their
society; the king, Thamus, is steadfast in his belief that writing s future burdens will outweigh its
immediate success. Postman argues that technological discoveries change the way we think,
manipulating our culture and our understanding of the world. He states that the primary difference
between computers and humans is the ability to self learn but what happens when the human race
conquers that barrier with technology? Artificial Intelligence is often referred to as the field I
would most like to be in by researchers in other sciences (semanticscholar.org). It is not only
prominent in subfields like reasoning and logic, but also in precise tasks like playing chess,
proving theorems, and diagnosing diseases. The short term benefits of Artificial Intelligence
depend on who controls it, while the long term benefits of Artificial Intelligence depend on if we
can control it at all. When considering synthetic intelligence, I believe our outlook must be
cautiously positive. As Postman suggests, the development of technology has significant
advantages and disadvantages. Futurists believe AI will redefine the human world by enabling
software s ability to self program and by minimizing the time it takes to solve a challenge.
However, the safety issues and current jobs that will be replaced by

Positive Effects Of Externality
A teenager just turned sixteen and has their driving permit, on their birthday they decide to take
the driving test. They end up passing the test allowing them to get their driver s license. The
parents are really proud of their kid and take them to the car dealership to look at a car.The kid
ends up finding a car and the parents buy the car for a birthday present. The addition of another
driver and car onto the road ultimately creates more traffic on the street. The addition of a new car
and driver could be viewed as an externality, but what exactly is an externality?
Economist Arthur Pigou stated that an externality is the , costs imposed or benefits conferred on
others that are not taken into account by the person taking the action (Pigou AP, 1920). The
Merriam Webster dictionary defines an externality as a secondary or unintended effect(Merriam
Webster, 1978). In other words an externality in economics happens whenever two parties are
engaging in business and a bystander is affected by the action that they had no part of being in.
These actions can either be beneficial or harmful to a third party.
2. Positive Externalities
Externalities can usually have two different outcomes, those being a positive or negative outcome
to the third party bystander. An externality that is considered a positive outcome is one that will
benefit a company or group that is not particularly involved in the activities of the two parties that
are working together. Say that someone produces

Mary got away with her murder by giving herself an alibi by going to the grocer while Patrick s
death occurred and had the murder weapon destroyed. One of them belched [while eating the lamb]
Personally, I think [the murder weapon] is right here on this premises! ( ). This quote means that
mary got the detectives to eat the lamb that she used to kill Patrick, therefor removing any thought
that she was the suspect for Patrick s murder.
The three main similarities between Mary and Montag is based on the betrayal of spouses, the
murdering of antagonists, and the process of getting away with murder. There are many similarities
between these two stories, despite having some differences. The two characters show why and how
they murdered the antagonists of the story. The two stories also show how the characters escaped
their crimes. After reading Fahrenheit 451 and Lamb to the slaughter, Is it really that hard to get

Hiroshima American Bombing
Hiroshima was such an ideal target for American bombing. According to the book, this was because
the city was considered an important place for establishing a military command center. Another
reason was that it was a place where communication would be coordinated from. It was the perfect
city for militaries to station their operations in.
The ruined city had flourished and had been an inviting target mainly because it had been one of the
most important military command and communication centres in Japan, and would have become
the Imperial headquarters had the islands been invaded and Tokyo been captured. (HERSEY, P.

the tragic bombing. The author of the book, John Hersey, had a good purpose in telling so many
individual anecdotes about the life before the bomb. He focused on expressing the stories of
these survivors in a way in which the reader could see it from their point of view. His aim was to
demonstrate that each individual was a real human being with real feelings just like us. The author
seeks to make sure that readers understand that the bombings happened to people who had a daily
life and were astonished by what had happened. Hersey demonstrates that the bombing impacted
people who had previously been undergoing a lot in life.

Blackfish Documentary Analysis
Documentaries and perspectives To start talking about the blackfish Documentary. We have to
know what is a documentary. A documentary film is a nonfictional motion picture intended to
document some aspect of reality, primarily for the purposes of instruction, education, or
maintaining a historical record. As defined by wikipedia. So a documentary is intended to

it benefits the country and the people in some way. Watching the Blackfish documentary I was

Pros And Cons Of Memory Formation
FIVE ARTICLES

Hunter, P. (2008). Ancient rules of memory. The molecules and mechanisms of memory evolved
long before their modern use in the brain. EMBO Reports, 9(2), 124 126.
doi.org.ezproxy.lib.monash.edu.au/10.1038/sj.embor.2008.5
Summary:
The primary purpose of this article is to expound on how memory is formed and maintained in the
human brain. The author follows the argument of scientific researchers on the assumption that
memory formation in the brains of lower forms of organisms can be compared to that of humans
and the basic biological mechanism is the same for both species. However, despite this similarity,
the author notes that the memories formed are very different because of the vast number of
neurons and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A short background on the initial search for types of memory is provided to elucidate the
distinction between the kinds of memory. Clinical studies on memory are used to describe,
compare and differentiate the three kinds of memory from a psychological point of view. Short
term memory is described as having a short duration of occurrence and with a restricted capacity
that can readily be accessed. Working memory is argued to be more than the short term memory
because it involves other processes including long term memory, however, there are those who
opine it is the same as short term memory. With regards to long term memory, the author describes
it as a large storage of knowledge with an unlimited capacity. The author concludes that short term
and long term memory differ primarily in terms of capacity and retention time, but, the factor of
retention time is still controversial. With regards to short term and working memory, their
difference or similarity depends on how one defines them.
Critique:
This article is well written and has reliable sources of information that are well cited and span a
long period of time. The author uses multiple points of view based on his references to arrive at a
conclusion. However, the comparison between short term and long term memory is wanting and

Sexual Orientation Discrimination Research Paper
To begin with, the social inequality, sexual orientation, has a huge impact on people in America.
Many that are homosexual, bisexual, or any other sexuality are being judged and have an unfair
employment and income. One of the most common and general thing in sexual orientation
discrimination, is the fact that people with a different sexuallity are being judged because they are
not straight. It is not fair for humans that are a different sexuality to feel the need to hide it. They
should be treated no differently than a straight person and should be able to express themselves
without being judged or harmed. Also, many people are not heterosexual, and have a different
sexuality like, homosexual or bisexual, this does not make them any

Erasmus s Use Of Rhetoric In Sacrifice
During the Renaissance, there were seven subjects/skills that were considered essential for a free
person to know, known as the liberal arts. Among those seven is the art of persuasive speaking
and writing called rhetoric. Rhetoric became increasingly popular during this period and this could
be seen through a lot of Renaissance works such as in Letters of Catherine of Siena , Letters of
Petrarch , and Erasmus, Julius Excluded from Heaven. The three works all have one thing in
common; it utilizes the art of persuasion. However, due to the fact that the authors have different
motives and backgrounds, they ended up using different strategies to persuade their audiences. In
Letters of Catherine of Siena , Catherine resorted to using the... Show more content on

He could not use the same technique as Catherine because, like Petrarch, he had a different
motive then her. While her purpose was to better the Catholic church, Erasmus s purpose was to
expose the wrongdoings of the church. Using the scare tactic in this situation would have not
been appropriate because instilling fear only works when you want someone to perform a certain
action and by showing them the consequences of not doing in they will be persuaded into doing
it. However, in Erasmus s case, he wants to persuade his audience into believing the church is
corrupt. He also couldn t rely on Petrarch s technique because although it would ve been
persuasive, it was also risky. The Popewas a very influential and powerful figure, therefore by
explicitly exposing the him to the public, Erasmus could ve been severely punished. However, by
using satire, his crime will be less severe and yet he could still get his point across the audience. In
his pamphlet, Erasmus used mostly humor to criticizes Pope Julius II. For example, on page four,
Erasmus pointed out that the Pope had the belch and stink like a man just come from a drunken
debauch and fresh from the a fit of vomiting, (Erasmus, Julius Excluded From Heaven, pg. 4).
Through this, you can see that the tone of the dialogue is very light and humorous. This strategy
is the most effective in Erasmus s case because he is trying to reach out to a broader audience
than Petrarch and Catherine, therefore by making the tone less serious, it can attract more
attention. If Erasmus had made it too political then people would ve been less compelled to read it
because the content would ve dry and not as interesting. The dialogue had a lot of witty comments
in it such as when Genius exclaimed, Only listen to the bragging of the beast! as a response to
Julius talking about how he [brought] goodly sums into the papal

How Does Dave Barry Use Satire
Do you know what comedy is? Comedy is jokes or satirical sketches. Dave Barry s humorous
anecdote Dave Barry teaches his grandson life s lessons beginning with the ketchup is a high
level of comedy that uses satire and physical humor to reveal a universal truth about being trendy
and being a jerk. Also about making the right decisions in life. First Dave Barry uses satire that
forms comic situations. This makes people smirk and laugh a little. One of them is in the
beginning of the short story it says, If you want to impress a woman, do not buy her a gift that
has a plug (Barry 2). This quote shows that girls don t want appliances for a gift because they
will probably never use it and say this is the worst gift ever . Another way Barry uses satire is in
the middle of the short story Barry says, Popularity is way overrated, friendship is not (Barry 2).

because they are two human situations that are realistic. Another comical thing... Show more content

Dave Barry did a good job in making people chuckle and smirk. It was a funny short story that

Legal Systems Of The English Legal System
The term common law is the name given to legal systems who embrace the English legal system.
Originally, it was created as a case law, judge made centered system. It set out to focus on legal
principles, which were created by judicial verdict. However, over time the body of the legal
principles matured from the courts, as now, when a judge handles a case, they have to set out to
establish what the facts are proceeding the case, and how to determine how the law applies to
those facts. When making a verdict of how the law applies to set of facts, a system of precedent
will be emplaced. In turn, the courts will form a hierarchy, this is because findings of the higher
courts bind the lower courts together, thus, meaning that they will both be required to apply the
same doctrine of law as the higher court when confronted with similar cases. (The Open University,
2015, p.5)
In common law, the distinctive feature is how it represents the law of the courts in judicial
verdicts. This is because the grounds for disputing cases are found in precedents given by past
accord. However, another feature of common law would be the doctrine of the suprecemy of the
law, this means that acts of government bodies are subject to inquiry in typical legal proceedings.
The latin phrase of stare decisis (let the decision stand) is used in Judicial precedents, which in turn,
means that the earlier verdicts of the highest court in the jurisdictions, as therefore binding on all
other courts. (The

The Ethics Of Health Care Ethics
What is Ethics? Let me first define the word Ethics. Ethics refers to well founded standards of
right and wrong that prescribe humans ought to do, usually in terms of rights, obligations,
benefits to society, fairness, or specific virtues. Ethics is when one knows what is normal
between what is right or wrong. For a well mannered individual, it is easy to think first before
you act on something. It is for us to know what our rights are and whether it is right, or wrong, to
do or not. We should be responsible of our actions or behavior. In the society or community, we can
see the diversity on ethicsbecause of differences in race, differences of religion, differences in
beliefs and political views. To really understand what ethics is, we should try to be considerate. Let
us just try to follow the golden rule if we can, do unto others, what you want others to do unto you
HealthCare Ethics is a set of moral principles, beliefs and values that guide us in making choices
about medical care. (Vermont Ethics Network, 2011) Take nursing home as one example, the
healthcare team is properly guided with good principles for them to perform their task and
responsibilities. The healthcare team protects the rights, privacy, confidentiality and dignity of its
residents. As a healthcare provider, we must possess the good virtue of honesty, the most important
quality we can bring to our job. As the saying goes, honesty is the best policy. Telling the truth is
acceptable when one

Art Reproduction
From an intimate perspective, art is a fundamental experience. It springs from the inborn passion
of the man to build a medium of expression of his inner life. It is immaterial whether the basic
thrust of these feelings arising out of a anguish cosmic, or of the need for play, or the desire to
express in signs and symbols the unconscious of a desire repressed. What is certain is that the art
arises with the need for expression of the man. In this sense, the term reproduction, which can have
different meanings depending on the context in which it is applied.
Reproduction in Art
The word reproduction from an artistic perspective, can be distinguished from two different points
of view. On the one hand, reproduction can refine to make copies of something. But it can also
mean a sexual behavior, which implies procreation (Lazzari Schlessier, 2016). Since the beginning
of art artistic representation was a means to bring the real presence of the inanimate by mysterious
forces. It is not, then, wonder man to refer to symbols ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reproduction in the art, in terms of sexuality, is the most revealing feature of the conception of
the unity of the world. That is, a world in which everything is associated, where the sacred is
inseparable from the profane, the transcendent of the unimportant, all in order to create a new life
(Lazzari Schlessier, 2016). The history of the art shows us in his works that sexuality is present in
any of its artistic representations. For example, in the areas of art such as painting and sculpture, the
human body and sexuality formed a vital part of the art, through ages or stages. The best example
is evident in the Venus. The Venus acquired that name in an era that believed that they represented
erotic figures. These figures focus on the desire for fertility, in human and animal reproduction and
increase of the species order (Lazzari Schlessier,

Jesus s Last Supper
A Tale of Two Last Suppers Jesus s Last Supper, as detailed in the Gospels, was vital to the story
of Christ. At this supper, there was a major development one that would shape Jesus s life and
shape Christianity itself. It is at this final supper where Jesus announces to all of his apostles that
one of them will betray him. This is, of course, in reference to Judas, who would turn Jesusinto the
authorities in return for a reward. The apostles were shocked and confused. This major development
is at the core mythology of Christianity, and it is why the Last Supper has been so frequently
painted by artists throughout the centuries. Two of the most famous paintings of the Last Supper

It is naturally one of the first things that we see when we look at the different renditions of the
famous scene, and this makes sense. Typically, Jesus is in the middle of the painting, while
flanked by the 12 apostles on either side of him. Naturally, then, our eyes will focus on the center
of the painting Jesus. However, in Castagno s painting, Jesus is not quite at the center of the
painting, as pointed out by Joseph Polzer (15). He notes that John s body and not Christ s is the
one that connects with the center of the painting. John s head is face down on the table, leaned
toward Jesus (15 16). While John is at the exact center of the painting, Jesus has the same number
of people on either side of him. Polzer points out that Judas dark head is vertically above every
other character in the painting, including Christ (16). Polzer argues that this is meant to emphasize
the role of evil in humanity (16). The composition of Castagno s work was also unique in how he
used contrast throughout the painting. He was one of the pioneers of using contrasting light to
further amplify the drama of mighty events

The Intolerable Acts were just as bad as they sound: a combination of multiple acts also called the
Coercive Acts which is a pretty generous euphemism considering the Acts were harsh. A few of
these acts included: The Quartering Act allowed soldiers to enter a family s house without means,
which made people feel deprived of certain rights they felt they deserved (Pavao). The
Massachusetts Act does not seem awful on the surface, but the intention of the act was to limit the

The Open Destiny of Life
The Open Destiny of Life
In the short story A Conversation with My Father, written by Grace Paley, there are two stories
intertwined. The main story is about a visit between a middle aged woman and her elderly,
bedridden father. It is during this visit that the two of them discuss fiction and give their opinion
towards tragedy in literature and in life. The second is a story that the daughter creates for her
father at his request. She proceeds to tell him a story about a mother who, in order to be closer to
her drug addicted son, decides to experiment with the same drug and becomes a drug addict
herself, only to be deserted by the son when he rises above his dependency. Building on her

Finally, it is obvious that these two stories mirror each other in the sense that they are about tenuous
but essential connections between parents and their children. The daughter abhors the kind of story
her father wants because it is limiting. He, meanwhile, rejects her tale because he sees in it her
inability to face tragic realities of fiction and life, including his impending death. Their different
attitudes towards the possibility of opportunities and change, fictional or real, stem from their
different world views and experiences. She went to college, but dropped out to become a writer,
hoping to win his affection. He loves her, but does not approve of her dropping out of school,
her writing style, or her views on life. In the narrative she creates for him, the father she would
rather have surfaces as the mother who uses drugs as a means of being closer to be her son. One
wonders what his perfect daughter would have been like, had he written the tale. Would he have
wanted her to be more like him? Would he have preferred her to be inferior? Would everything
have been different? . . . maybe.
Throughout the story, two reoccurring themes are experience and opportunity. The narrator
believes that fiction should reflect the opportunities of life not available to previous generations. In
comparison, her father prefers the works of authors with whom he can relate, the kind of writers
who spoke of a

The Effects Of Stress And Its Impact On Cardiovascular...
Stress is an issue affecting the daily lives of individuals, and has a number of different
definitions and meanings. It can be defined as a physical reaction to aggressors that have the
ability to disrupt an individual s homeostasis (Franco, Barros, Nogueira, Michel, 2003). It can
also be described as the physiological, behavioural and psychological responses of an individual
attempting to adapt to internal and external pressures (Franco et al., 2003). The concept of stress
is very broad, and can refer to the cause, the stressor, as well as a response to the stressor
(Dimsdale, 2008). The effect of stress and its impact on cardiovascular diseases is continually
being studied in order to understand the causal link. Many studies have looked at both the genetic
influences and the environmental factors behind stress and cardiovascular diseases, while others
examine the personality types of individuals involved (Franco et al., 2003; Rose, 2006; Koolhaas,
1999). Genetic factors of stress investigate the intrinsic factors involved, such as heritability and
predispositions (Rose, 2006). Environmental aspects include the pressures caused by occupational,
marital, and lifestyle factors (Franco et al., 2003; Seibt et al., 1998). The differing personality
types of individuals, including hostile dispositions as well as Type A personality, also have an
effect of stress, which research shows contributes to poor cardiovascular health (Schwartz et al.,
2003). By discussing the

United States Legal Analysis Of The Hague Convention
When there is evidence that the wellbeing of a child would be endangered by a parent then sole
or singular custody should be the preference over joint custody, also when there is proof that a
parent has been abused and flees with a child that child should not be returned to the abusive
parent. Over the years the U.S. has changed it procedure concerning grave risk of harm regarding
Hague cases and found it not in the child s best interest to be ordered to return to a domestic
violencesituation without a full investigation of the nature of the abuse and of the likelihood that
the authorities in the country to which the children are being returned will indeed fully protect
them and their abused mother . [1]
The U.S. Department of States Legal Analysis of the Hague Convention (51 Fed. Reg. 10494
(1986)) prepared for the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations to which the Convention was
referred, confirms the intention that Article 13 was intended to be afforded a narrow interpretation.
In this regard the State Department stated that the drafters were aware that any exceptions had to be
drawn very narrowly lest their application undermine the express purposes of the Convention to
effect the prompt return of abducted children; that it was generally believed that courts would

George Orwell’s Down and Out in Paris and London Essay
George Orwell s Down and Out in Paris and London Days without food, nights without shelter
and clothes without buttons are reality for homeless people around the world. Many are
incapable of escaping their poverty and can not seem to find a way out of their bleak
oppression. The few that do escape often help each other find a way to make their lives better
and do not forget how to maintain friendships. George Orwell s novel, Down and Out in Paris and
London, displays the ability of those in poverty to escape their horrific lot in life through
friendships and connections. The common goal of shelter and freedom from oppression bonds
many of the lower class. Many in poverty work together to find the best means to achieve their

Boris, Orwell s Russian acquaintance, is no better off than Orwell, but when Orwell and Boris
bond together, they are able to cope with poverty together. In fact, when Orwell locates Boris, he
is in such a weak and emotionally distressed state that Orwell, hurried downstairs and bought a
loaf of bread (28). Orwell, who already has very little money, shares what he has with Boris in an
attempt to support a fellow member of the lower class. After this incident Boris and Orwell are
allied in the search for jobs. In the quest for jobs, Boris and Orwell trek across Paris together to
apply for employment. Boris often hinders Orwell because of his limp that often prevents them
from finding occupations. However, Orwell does not leave his friend. Boris also uses his
connections to find jobs for both himself and Orwell. Neither Boris nor Orwell gives up, Oh, we
shall find something (29), because they support each other both physically and mentally. Even
when Orwell is in a tight bind for money, he asks Boris, to let me share his two francs (38).
However, because Boris has no money, they both decide to pawn their overcoats. They work out
plans together and help each other figure out the best way to make money. Orwell and Boris feel

The Effects Of Echinacea And Its Effects On The World
Echinacea is common herb that is often used to make herbal medicines. The leaves, flower and
root are all typically used. It can be taken in pill form, as a liquid, or brewed as a tea. There are
also many cough drops that contain echinacea. Echinacea is commonly used to fight infections,
such as the common coldand other upper respiratory infections. Some individuals will take it at
the first sign of the cold, while others will take it when symptoms have already started, in hopes
that it will reduce the duration of the cold. Echinacea is native to North America, and was first
used the Great Plains Native American tribes. In later years, the settlers followed the Native
American s example and began using echinacea for their own medical purposes. As the discovery
antibiotics came, individuals stopped using echinacea for lack of scientific evidence supporting its
use. Echinacea activates certain chemicals in the body to decrease inflammation, which may
reduce cold symptoms. The body also produces more infection fighting white blood cells, also
known as T lymphocytes and white blood cells. Echinacea also stimulates the release of infernos.
these cells work to kill germs, while attacking their control center to stop reproduction.
Macrophages are also produced, and are in charge of eating germs more vigorously, also known as
phagocytosis. The herb also prevents bacteria from secreting hyaluronidase, an enzyme that allows
bacteria to break through protective membranes, such as

Kosinski s Being There and the Existential Anti-Hero...
Kosinski s Being There and the Existential Anti Hero
Critics have referred to Kosinski s Being There as his worst novel. Perhaps, Kosinski s prosaic
style is deceptive in its apparent simplicity (especially when contrasted with The Painted Bird).
What Kosinski seeks to do, as Welch D. Everman relates, is to stimulate the reader s recreative and
imaginative task by offering only the essentials...Kosinski s style draws the reader into the incident
by refusing to allow him to remain passive (25). This essay will propose that Being There is a
major existential work following in the tradition of Sartre and Camus in which Chance, the main
protagonist, mirrors Camus s Mersault in A Happy Death and in which Koskinski demonstrates...

Chance has been given his name because he had been born by chance , yet as Everman shows,
this is true of everyone, and so his given name is hardly a name at all....In addition, he loses this
rather tenuous name early in the book... and therefore is without a real name (63).
Furthermore, no one in the book exists without some type of tangible record proving existence.
When Mr. Franklin, the Old Man s executor, interrogates Chance, he seeks commodified proof of
Chance s existence; he asks for, among other items, a checkbook, driver s license, insurance card,
tax forms. Chance, encountering the existential dilemma, the quest for identity, counters: you have
me. I am here. What more proof do you need (18)? Of course, mere existence proves useless and
Chance is excommunicated from his beloved garden. Why does a writer who displays such brilliant
technical skills and prosaic style resort to utilizing such a one dimensional character? Perhaps
Koskinski has simply found the next logical step in the chain of psychological evolution. Yet, rather
than the natural heir to Benji Compson, Chance is, instead, the natural descendent of Patrice
Mersault.
After Nietzsche declared God dead, we spent the next half century in an angst ridden frenzy. Sartre,
Beckett, and Camus best exemplify this condition in their writings. Camus s Mersualt (perhaps the

Hg Wells Accomplishments
H. G. Wells Done H. G. Wells is a paradox of a man. For example, his fascination with utopias,
advocated free love, and had an optimistic vision for humanity. In practice, he created the modern
dystopian template, married twice, and wrote works dark themes, such as The Island of Dr.
Moreau. In Wellsian fashion, Plato s Republic, Rudyard Kipling s The Jungle Book, and the
scientific advances of the nineteenth century are evident as Wells s influences when he wrote The
Island of Dr. Moreau. Herbert George Wells was born in the town of Bromley, located in Kent,
England, to a set of lower middle class parents. Despite his parents lack of education, Wells

many of his works. Wells taught at his alma mater after his graduation, but had to stop after
contracting tuberculosis, as stated in Great Authors of Science Fiction Fantasy ( H.G. Wells 152).
Though he wrote to help support himself and his family, his interest in science remained. The two
most sensational (and influential) were vivisection and eugenics. In short, the practice of
vivisection was examining the workings of the organs of a living organism. Many people opposed
the practice on the grounds that it harmed the animals. However most scientists took great care of
those animals. Continuing on, eugenics is selective breeding to improve the overall quality of the
human species. Wells was against the concept, believing that selective breeding would hinder the
human race instead of helping it ( The Island

Feminist Representation Of Mythology In Wonder Woman s...
The recent Wonder Woman cinematic remake has made major waves as a prime example of the
increasing feminist influence on modern society. Despite the story s comic book origin, it contains
many references and elements of ancient Greek myth. Mythology and other forms of storytelling
have remained a constant reflection of societal values of that period, and remain so to this day. In
the movie, Diana is a representation of ancient myth and the slow shift in societal preconceptions
towards the ideology of the modern day.
In the 2017 film Wonder Woman, the protagonist Diana can trace her origins back to the original
comics in the 70 s. However, many of the people closest to her in the film can be found in ancient
Greek myth, with slightly altered stories. In this modern myth, Diana s mother is Hippolyta, queen
of the Amazons. The Amazons as a whole are repeatedly mentioned in ancient myth as fierce
female warriors with Hippolyta as their fearless leader. Famously Hippolyta was given a girdle by
her father Ares, which Heracles was sent to retrieve as one of his impossible tasks, thus marking
one of the first myths where the Greeks and Amazons interacted. This differs greatly from the film
where Ares is the enemy rather than the father of the Amazons, reflecting a less barbaric and
perhaps even positive outlook on the origins of the Amazons in the film. In this modern take Ares is
shown as evil personified and positioning the Amazonians against him shows them as heroes rather

I.Law Enforcement Leadership
a.Strong law enforcement leadership is essential for every police organization.

IV.Public Perception

Welfare Fraud And Its Different Variations Of Cases

One of the major concerns or problems of fraud in the community are people abusing the system,

Philip Zimbardo Stanford Prison Experiment
For decades, researchers have debated the different aspects of human behavior. In 1971,
psychologist Philip Zimbardo conducted the controversial Stanford Prison Experiment in a mock
correctional facility, located in the basement of Stanford University. With the help of the Palo Alto
Police and twenty four male subjects, Zimbardo unearthed the amorality and darkness [that can]
inhabit the human psyche when one is expected to follow a prescribed role. After choosing 24
male subjects, Zimbardo randomly separated the men into two groups. One group was composed

Biomedical Approach
Most modern Western societies rely on technology and evidence based medical treatments to
diagnose and treat illness or disease. This biomedical approach is founded predominately by the
belief that medical intervention, will return the health of a patient to a pre illness state
(Khatcheressian Brown, 2009). However, an ample body of evidence is accumulating to suggest
that consideration must also be given to the impact of psychological and social influences on
health. Indeed, as Adler and Page (2008) outline, some of these influences can impede an individual

would need to be the security of British civilians working in Sureno. The deaths of innocent

The British government should consider the attacks on British companies in Soreno as criminal
acts of violence. This should be followed by condemnation of any violence against any British

complex political situation in Soreno, it would be unwise to commit British lives to a foreign and
uncertain conflict, especially it aggravates Soreno s opposition and motivate further attacks on
British targets. The conflict should also be presented as a benign movement fighting in the
interests of democracy and social justice. The small number of British troops deployed in Soreno
will only be for the guarantee of peace in facilitation of the negotiation process and the protection
of British citizens and companies. This will be argued to the public as necessary in order to
resolve the root of the issue, prevent further attacks both by Liberty and Honor and One Way and
prevent a spread of extremist ideology which may inspire further inspired attacks to undermine
British society. The political narrative should also point out that One Way represent a narrow sect

Examples Of Transactional Analysis Model

By my new discovery in psychoanalysis of a person called Transactional Analysis , provided by

all people are divided in several internal models that can change the relationships between all people
we interact with. Dr. Eric Berne is a person who found the most common definition of the

the method for studying interactions between individuals.
The basic model that transactional analysis has is called ego states . Main principle is to identify
the behavior, person s feelings, character and thoughts, the result will bring up one or several ego
states that exist in individual. By looking at the definition of Dr. Bern towards Ego states theory: A
steady example of feeling and experience straightforwardly identified with a relating reliable
example of conduct (Bern, 1961), we can understand that all people has at least one strongly

  • 2. The Joint-By-Joint Approach The purpose of this article is to introduce the joint by joint approach when treating any types of injury. The idea of the article is based on the Functional Movement screen to treat joint by joint and learn how the movements of the joints relate to training. The human body is made of muscle, tissue, and bones and the joints join it. The article provides understanding of how the athletic trainer or physical therapist should treat the injury. The trainer or therapist should focus on muscles above and below the painful or injured part. The authors argue that when the player or patient have lower back pain the therapist should treat hip instead of focusing only on lower back. • 3. Censorship is Not an Effective Way to Protect Children Essay Teachers suspended, radio and television personalities fired, authors disinvited to speaking events, all because their words, opinions or shows did not agree with what a handful of people consider appropriate. One would think these types of situations regarding censorship happened decades ago, not in a time now, where people pride themselves on having an open mind and the ability of forward thinking. However, censorshipstill prevails in America today, and not only censorship of pornographyor violence on television, but it seeps into our textbooks and classrooms too, all in the name of protecting the children. Many reasons exist for people to favor censorship, both by the government and in schools. These people may feel... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (National Coalition Against Censorship) This means that the government censors what public schools can teach. According to the law, teachers can only to teach about contraceptives by telling of their failure rates. Teachers cannot answer a direct question from a student if it does not relate directly to the abstinence only lifestyle. (National Coalition Against Censorship) This provides an unrealistic and dangerous curriculum in our public schools. Children should have access to material that will lead them to make better and healthier decisions about sex and material that will lead them into adulthood better prepared. Some school administrators, teachers, and parents do not make informed decisions when deciding what material students can access. They merely read a bad review or skim the pages of a book and decide it has unsuitable content. Ellen Hopkins, an author of the young adult series, Crank, notes that books like hers have a helpful storyline for young adults, but adults quickly to jump to conclusions that they contain inappropriate material. • 4. Social, Political And Economic Implications Of Money Throughout the course of this semester, we have examined the role of money in our society and have been introduced to scholars and economists that have offered rationale for the social, political and economic implications of money. One overwhelming theme that has lingered throughout most of the readings and lectures is the idea of inequality, particularly within the scope of the American economy. While other economies such as China or India are labor based economies, I have found that America s Capitalist economy is fueled by multiple facets racial inequality. The moral argument against racial inequality under an economic lens is simple yet, expected; when we deny opportunities for people of color in the same way we have them established... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Black men are being denied the chance of a full life with all of the rights; privileges and opportunities of white men and similarly, the families/communities from which they come from are also at a significant disadvantage. A National Bureau of Research study found that Black families between 2004 2008 were 54% more likely to be charged higher on their mortgage rates than white families. This fact alone drives two main issues I will explore in this paper: the implications of socioeconomics and how inequality drives the American economy through the lens of mortgage lending. One theorist I will use to explore these ideas of inequality is John Maynard Keynes. Keynes argued that capitalism is a mere congery of possessors and pursuers (Keynes 60) and he also asserted that economic output is only based on the aggregate demand . Between 2004 2008, when Black families were getting charged higher interest rates on their homes than white families with similar incomes, large banks were pocketing millions of extra dollars from these families as many of the rates today would have been considered sub prime rates . This predatory act placed against people of color encouraged classism and as a result led to negative socioeconomic outcomes moreover, the notion of white ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. The Beliefs Of Consumerism In American Society One worldview our society accepts is consumerism. Consumerism is the idea of spending money and time on things which interest our minds. Each person consumes different objects whether it be video games, accessories, clothes, or even pets. Consumerism is not just buying things that we want, it can also be activities that we spend time on. For example, schools can consume our time to get good grades on tests and projects. Sports can also consume our time on practices and competitions to grow in our abilities and skills in that particular sport. • 7. The Unredeemed Captain Is The Factual Telling Of The... The Unredeemed Captain is the factual telling of the Deerfield Massacre and the ways it effected the Williams family who lost their daughter as a captive to the Bear tribe of the Mohawk Native Americans. The book deeply explores religion and how it relates to the ideas of savagery and family through comparison of experiences in the lives of the Puritans and the lives of the Native American captors. The Deerfield Massacre occurred in 1704 in Massachusetts. The massacre was carried out by a tribe of Native Americans in retaliation against French and English attacks. The small town of Deerfield was raided and about 112 people were taken captive with 47 more being slain on the spot. The captives are then forced to march 250 miles through the snow to reach the Native American settlement. Most of the captives were ill prepared to take this journey and those who were not able to keep up are slain by the captors. Only 89 people survived the journey with all teenagers, most adult men and a few others making it to Canada. English soldiers arrive to Deerfield too late to engage in combat and decide that the risk of following the captives far outweighs any benefits. Over the next few years, the captives are killed, ransomed, or adopted into the culture. The book focuses on one familythat has all of the previous done to them, the Williams. The head of the Williams household is John Williams or Rev. Williams. Rev. Williams is a highly regarded minister to the Puritans, regarded as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Chemistry s Presence in Technology Isn t Always Blatantly... It is typical when analyzing technology for the presence of chemistry to be hardly noticed or failed to be seen at all. This is a false assessment, and is caused by simply not looking close enough. Chemistry s presence is not always blatantly obvious, even though it is truly at the root of most all technology we use on a daily basis. One of the fields of technology that we do in fact use on a daily basis that chemistry impacts, and therefore impacts whole other genres of technology, is the battery. Although often taken for granted, the battery is a huge part of the technology we use today and chemistry is integral to it. The advancement of chemistry advances the technology and materials we use to make batteries and therefore advances a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the foundation of the battery s origin understood, a basic understanding of how a battery works is needed to see how new resources improved upon it. A battery consists of one or many cells. Within a cell there is a cathode and an anode that are separated by an electrolyte. The electrolyte is typically an acid or a salt. When a closed circuit is made between the anode and the cathode, the positive ions move from the anode to the cathode, and the negative ions move from the cathode to the anode. The movement of ions causes a current that can be harnessed (Battery 168). The whole idea of a battery is a chemistry concept, but where chemistry is useful now is finding new materials for the anode, cathode, and electrolyte to make stronger currents. It is easy to see that current day batteries have advanced beyond using vinegar and iron bars such as the Parthian Battery. Typical batteries today are alkaline batteries. These batteries are far more complex than the Parthian Battery and use a wide array of elements to create a strong current. Alkaline batteries are able to be and used because of knowledge we have gained through chemistry research. It was not by accident that certain elements came together to create an alkaline battery, it was through pursuit in the understanding of chemistry. The battery was able to be advanced by discovery of new resources that were found to be useful in a battery cell, and this concept ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Desensitization In Heart Of Darkness The world will remain as brutal as our level of desensitization to its brutality. (Unknown) Many humans in this world no longer feel shock or distress at scenes of cruelty, violence, or suffering as they are overexposed to such images. In other words, these people have become desensitized and display no empathy towards others. In the event that one is exposed to these types of surroundings on a regular basis they begin to adapt and become unaware of how heinous their actions actually are. Though not everyone partakes in these atrocious acts of violence, they are still in the wrong as they are simply bystanders watching the victims being abused. In essence desensitization causes humans to adapt, become callous to their surroundings, and become apathetic towards the others right to live. Adaptation is the action or process in which an organism becomes suited to its environment. As an illustration, this article on violence in prison focuses on the idea that one adapts to their surroundings and gets used to what is happening around them. I learned to adapt to my situation, but adaptation came at a cost. I became desensitized to the violence that I witnessed around me (Papa, 2016). This shows that the men in prison have become immune to the events that are occurring. The biggest adaptation seen in The Heart of Darkness is in Marlow as he not only becomes desensitized to brutality in the Congo, but also adapts his morals to fit the circumstances as well. When an individual overcomes a problem, they will always obtain something in reward of their effort. Some individuals are overwhelmed by the challenges before them. Others are able to get past the issues and obtain a reward. There are numerous obstacles in one s life that must be overcome in order to obtain something of personal value. In the short story Penny in the Dust by Ernest Buckler, Peter faced the obstacle of being unable to communicate with his father. Over the years Peter spent with his dad, he developed the perspective that his father was humorless and severe . This view was acquired because his dad was more accustomed to expressing his emotions toward his son with actions instead of words. Peter was able to overcome the miscommunication years later at his father s funeral when he found the penny that was gifted to him by his dad in his father s breast pocket. Analysis Of The Judgement Of Thamus By Neil Postman Neil Postman, a firm protester against technology, begins his argument in The Judgement of Thamus with a parable about a king rejecting an inventor who incorporates writing into their society; the king, Thamus, is steadfast in his belief that writing s future burdens will outweigh its immediate success. Postman argues that technological discoveries change the way we think, manipulating our culture and our understanding of the world. He states that the primary difference between computers and humans is the ability to self learn but what happens when the human race conquers that barrier with technology? Artificial Intelligence is often referred to as the field I would most like to be in by researchers in other sciences (semanticscholar.org). The Merriam Webster dictionary defines an externality as a secondary or unintended effect(Merriam Webster, 1978). In other words an externality in economics happens whenever two parties are engaging in business and a bystander is affected by the action that they had no part of being in. These actions can either be beneficial or harmful to a third party. 2. Among those seven is the art of persuasive speaking and writing called rhetoric. He could not use the same technique as Catherine because, like Petrarch, he had a different motive then her. While her purpose was to better the Catholic church, Erasmus s purpose was to expose the wrongdoings of the church. Using the scare tactic in this situation would have not been appropriate because instilling fear only works when you want someone to perform a certain action and by showing them the consequences of not doing in they will be persuaded into doing it. However, in Erasmus s case, he wants to persuade his audience into believing the church is corrupt. He also couldn t rely on Petrarch s technique because although it would ve been persuasive, it was also risky. The Popewas a very influential and powerful figure, therefore by explicitly exposing the him to the public, Erasmus could ve been severely punished. However, by using satire, his crime will be less severe and yet he could still get his point across the audience. In his pamphlet, Erasmus used mostly humor to criticizes Pope Julius II. For example, on page four, Erasmus pointed out that the Pope had the belch and stink like a man just come from a drunken debauch and fresh from the a fit of vomiting, (Erasmus, Julius Excluded From Heaven, pg. 4). Through this, you can see that the tone of the dialogue is very light and humorous. This strategy is the most effective in Erasmus s case because he is trying to reach out to a broader audience than Petrarch and Catherine, therefore by making the tone less serious, it can attract more attention. If Erasmus had made it too political then people would ve been less compelled to read it because the content would ve dry and not as interesting. The dialogue had a lot of witty comments in it such as when Genius exclaimed, Only listen to the bragging of the beast! as a response to Julius talking about how he [brought] goodly sums into the papal ... Originally, it was created as a case law, judge made centered system. It set out to focus on legal principles, which were created by judicial verdict. However, over time the body of the legal principles matured from the courts, as now, when a judge handles a case, they have to set out to establish what the facts are proceeding the case, and how to determine how the law applies to those facts. When making a verdict of how the law applies to set of facts, a system of precedent will be emplaced. In turn, the courts will form a hierarchy, this is because findings of the higher courts bind the lower courts together, thus, meaning that they will both be required to apply the same doctrine of law as the higher court when confronted with similar cases. (The Open University, 2015, p.5) In common law, the distinctive feature is how it represents the law of the courts in judicial verdicts. This is because the grounds for disputing cases are found in precedents given by past accord. That is, a world in which everything is associated, where the sacred is inseparable from the profane, the transcendent of the unimportant, all in order to create a new life (Lazzari Schlessier, 2016). The history of the art shows us in his works that sexuality is present in any of its artistic representations. For example, in the areas of art such as painting and sculpture, the human body and sexuality formed a vital part of the art, through ages or stages. The best example is evident in the Venus. • 33. Jesus s Last Supper A Tale of Two Last Suppers Jesus s Last Supper, as detailed in the Gospels, was vital to the story of Christ. At this supper, there was a major development one that would shape Jesus s life and shape Christianity itself. It is at this final supper where Jesus announces to all of his apostles that one of them will betray him. This is, of course, in reference to Judas, who would turn Jesusinto the authorities in return for a reward. The apostles were shocked and confused. This major development is at the core mythology of Christianity, and it is why the Last Supper has been so frequently painted by artists throughout the centuries. It is naturally one of the first things that we see when we look at the different renditions of the famous scene, and this makes sense. Typically, Jesus is in the middle of the painting, while flanked by the 12 apostles on either side of him. Naturally, then, our eyes will focus on the center of the painting Jesus. However, in Castagno s painting, Jesus is not quite at the center of the painting, as pointed out by Joseph Polzer (15). He notes that John s body and not Christ s is the one that connects with the center of the painting. John s head is face down on the table, leaned toward Jesus (15 16). While John is at the exact center of the painting, Jesus has the same number of people on either side of him. Polzer points out that Judas dark head is vertically above every other character in the painting, including Christ (16). Polzer argues that this is meant to emphasize the role of evil in humanity (16). The composition of Castagno s work was also unique in how he used contrast throughout the painting. The main story is about a visit between a middle aged woman and her elderly, bedridden father. The second is a story that the daughter creates for her father at his request. • 37. The Effects Of Stress And Its Impact On Cardiovascular... Stress is an issue affecting the daily lives of individuals, and has a number of different definitions and meanings. It can be defined as a physical reaction to aggressors that have the ability to disrupt an individual s homeostasis (Franco, Barros, Nogueira, Michel, 2003). It can also be described as the physiological, behavioural and psychological responses of an individual attempting to adapt to internal and external pressures (Franco et al., 2003). The concept of stress is very broad, and can refer to the cause, the stressor, as well as a response to the stressor (Dimsdale, 2008). The effect of stress and its impact on cardiovascular diseases is continually being studied in order to understand the causal link. Many studies have looked at both the genetic influences and the environmental factors behind stress and cardiovascular diseases, while others examine the personality types of individuals involved (Franco et al., 2003; Rose, 2006; Koolhaas, 1999). Genetic factors of stress investigate the intrinsic factors involved, such as heritability and predispositions (Rose, 2006). Environmental aspects include the pressures caused by occupational, marital, and lifestyle factors (Franco et al., 2003; Seibt et al., 1998). The differing personality types of individuals, including hostile dispositions as well as Type A personality, also have an effect of stress, which research shows contributes to poor cardiovascular health (Schwartz et al., 2003). It can be taken in pill form, as a liquid, or brewed as a tea. There are also many cough drops that contain echinacea. Echinacea is commonly used to fight infections, such as the common coldand other upper respiratory infections. Some individuals will take it at the first sign of the cold, while others will take it when symptoms have already started, in hopes that it will reduce the duration of the cold. Echinacea is native to North America, and was first used the Great Plains Native American tribes. In later years, the settlers followed the Native American s example and began using echinacea for their own medical purposes. As the discovery antibiotics came, individuals stopped using echinacea for lack of scientific evidence supporting its use. Echinacea activates certain chemicals in the body to decrease inflammation, which may reduce cold symptoms. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Chance has been given his name because he had been born by chance , yet as Everman shows, this is true of everyone, and so his given name is hardly a name at all....In addition, he loses this rather tenuous name early in the book... and therefore is without a real name (63). Furthermore, no one in the book exists without some type of tangible record proving existence. When Mr. Franklin, the Old Man s executor, interrogates Chance, he seeks commodified proof of Chance s existence; he asks for, among other items, a checkbook, driver s license, insurance card, tax forms. Chance, encountering the existential dilemma, the quest for identity, counters: you have me. I am here. What more proof do you need (18)? Of course, mere existence proves useless and Chance is excommunicated from his beloved garden. Why does a writer who displays such brilliant technical skills and prosaic style resort to utilizing such a one dimensional character? Perhaps Koskinski has simply found the next logical step in the chain of psychological evolution. Yet, rather than the natural heir to Benji Compson, Chance is, instead, the natural descendent of Patrice Mersault. • 47. Feminist Representation Of Mythology In Wonder Woman s... The recent Wonder Woman cinematic remake has made major waves as a prime example of the increasing feminist influence on modern society. Despite the story s comic book origin, it contains many references and elements of ancient Greek myth. Mythology and other forms of storytelling have remained a constant reflection of societal values of that period, and remain so to this day. In the movie, Diana is a representation of ancient myth and the slow shift in societal preconceptions towards the ideology of the modern day. In the 2017 film Wonder Woman, the protagonist Diana can trace her origins back to the original comics in the 70 s. However, many of the people closest to her in the film can be found in ancient Greek myth, with slightly altered stories. In this modern myth, Diana s mother is Hippolyta, queen of the Amazons. The Amazons as a whole are repeatedly mentioned in ancient myth as fierce female warriors with Hippolyta as their fearless leader. Famously Hippolyta was given a girdle by her father Ares, which Heracles was sent to retrieve as one of his impossible tasks, thus marking one of the first myths where the Greeks and Amazons interacted. This differs greatly from the film where Ares is the enemy rather than the father of the Amazons, reflecting a less barbaric and perhaps even positive outlook on the origins of the Amazons in the film. Indeed, as Adler and Page (2008) outline, some of these influences can impede an individual s ability to manage and respond to illness. Failure to identify and address the problems, could cause additional suffering, ultimately compromising the effectiveness of care and the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 53. Lone Wolf s Attacks 1)Goals As leaders responsible for the security of our own constituents, the most important goals would need to be the security of British civilians working in Sureno. The deaths of innocent civilians, especially in a foreign land would undoubtedly lead to strong media attention and eventually public indignation that would be aimed at both the inability of the government to protect them as well as a public sentiment for retributive justice against One Way, especially via the use of military action. As it is also known that One Way leaders have called for members of Supreme in foreign countries to carry out acts of violence, it will also be important to maintain domestic security from either recruited or inspired Lone Wolfs attacks, which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The British government should consider the attacks on British companies in Soreno as criminal acts of violence. This should be followed by condemnation of any violence against any British entity and state resolve to end the conflict. However, we should also explain that given the complex political situation in Soreno, it would be unwise to commit British lives to a foreign and uncertain conflict, especially it aggravates Soreno s opposition and motivate further attacks on British targets. The conflict should also be presented as a benign movement fighting in the interests of democracy and social justice. The small number of British troops deployed in Soreno will only be for the guarantee of peace in facilitation of the negotiation process and the protection of British citizens and companies. This will be argued to the public as necessary in order to resolve the root of the issue, prevent further attacks both by Liberty and Honor and One Way and prevent a spread of extremist ideology which may inspire further inspired attacks to undermine British society. The political narrative should also point out that One Way represent a narrow sect of Supreme fuelled by domestic grievances, and that British efforts are to ensure equitable settlements in the dispute and ...
