Who Was Responsible For Eden s Death Essay
When Eden returned from his leave in mid December 1956 to resume his political duties, it was
to oversee the final withdrawal of British troops from Egypt. Although by the middle of January
1957, it became apparent that his ill health would require that he step down as Prime Minister.
On 9 January 1957, Eden resigned stating I do not feel that it is right for me to continue in the
office as the Queen s First Minister knowing that I shall be unable to do my full duty by my
Sovereign and country. Was Eden s poor health an issue with regards to his mental acuity during
the Suez Crisis? It didn t seem to affect Eisenhower, who had had a heart attack, or Dulles who
suffered from cancer. Not to mention that Eden lived another twenty years before passing away.
At the time of Eden s death in 1977, an obituary appeared in The Times, Eden was the last Prime
Minister to believe Britain was a great power and the first to confront a crisis which proved she
was not. Guy Millard, Eden s Private Secretary while he was Prime Minister, stated in a
conversation thirty years after the Suez Crisis, it was his mistake of course and a tragic and... Show

Nasser himself was concerned about his own military and even though Eisenhower was the
President, John Foster Dulles and his brother Allen Dulles appeared to have more power in the
government. Interestingly enough, the Suez Crisis was not just between Britain and Egypt, as
both France and Israel were involved, as were other nations. There was an issue between Iraq and
Egypt, France and Algeria, Israel and Jordan. Although the United States was not involved initially,
it did become a major player along with the United Nations. Even Canada, through Lester B.
Pearson became involved in policing the ceasefire and bringing in the Emergency

Growth Attenuation Therapy Ethical Issues
In 2006, Growth Attenuation Therapy, the administering of high doses of estrogen to severely
disabled children in order to stunt their growth, was introduced. It is of ethical concern because
neither the medical community nor the parents, know all of the implications and ramifications and
yet, this treatment continues to be in practice. The issue resurfaced last summer when a study by
the Pediatric Endocrine Society resulted in an article published March 22nd 2016 in the New York
Times, which indicated that a noteworthy population was receiving this treatment. The ethical issue
lies in the doctors and parents not necessarily being informed voters . For example, one of the
doctors, listed as treating a patient, had never before actually administered... Show more content on

It is imperative that there be an open discussion overtly identifying the issues and discussing them
without prejudice (Johnson 2012 p. 265) Under specific circumstances, families may have the
right to use medical advances to improve their overall quality of life however, this slippery slope
must be controlled by the leaders in the medical community. Doctors and committee members need
to be aware of both sides of each issue and combine the priorities they have as medical
professionals, with the related socio political priorities. Additionally, doctors should have
experience administering and monitoring such treatment prior to accepting patients for Growth
Attenuation Treatment. FDA regulations and guidelines, for use of estrogen, would need to be
established and an oversight committee would be formed to ensure the process remains ethically
sound. In order to act as an exemplary follower, you ll need to practice exercising, independent,
critical thought and by becoming actively engaged in organizational affairs. (Johnson, 2012 p. 293)
Furthermore, the medical professionals would need to publicly declare that caution should be
exercised regarding the treatment s use, due to a lack of existing data. This would alert the public
to the importance of their being educated consumers and it might help to better align the
expectations of all involved, with the range of possible outcomes. It is premature to determine the
ethical nature of Growth Attenuation Treatment. ...Relational Leadership...emphasize that leaders
need to be concerned about ethical processes as well as ethical products... (Johnson, 2012, p. 265)
There exist three main issues in the processes of this treatment as it stands today. The prescribing

Language Development in Children Essay
Language Development in Children Language is a multifaceted instrument used to communicate an
unbelievable number of different things. Primary categories are information, direction, emotion,
and ceremony. While information and direction define cognitive meaning, emotion language
expresses emotional meaning. Ceremonial languageis mostly engaged with emotions but at some
level information and direction collection may be used to define a deeper meaning and purpose.
There is perhaps nothing more amazing than the surfacing of language in children. Children go
through a number of different stages as language develops. According to Craig and Dunn, (2010),

They have the ability to sense and respond to their environment quite well. Patricia Kuhl, codirector
of the University of Washington Institute for learning and Brain Sciences Seattle, Washington
states, The brain of the baby is a new frontier. Newborns begin to develop communication skills
by crying to express their wants and needs to their caregivers. There are pain or discomfort cries,
anger cries, and hunger cries to define how the baby is feeling. According to Crain and Dunn
(2010), The development production begins with undifferentiated cries at birth, which soon
adapts so they convey different meanings to their caregivers (p. 112). Babies begin to learn
language skills pretty quickly by listening and interacting with their caregivers. The baby s brain
is really flexible, they can not say much but they are learning a lot. says Rebecca Gomex, an
experimental psychologist at the University of Arizona, Tucson (Sohn, (2008). A baby will begin
their language journey by using their tongue, lips, palate, and, teeth to make sounds. By twelve
weeks infants begin to coo, and smile when talked to. Infants can distinguish between similar
sounds such as b, p, d, and t. Infants at this age can tell the difference between children and adult
speech sounds/tones. According to Crain and Dunn (2010), Although babies usually do not begin
using words until near the end of their first year, they are nonetheless acquiring a knowledge of

Homeless Population Of New South Wales
Overview In a country as prosperous as Australia, no one should have to be homeless.
The Road Home, 2008
Homelessness is a complex problem and not simply a lack of housing. It has numerous causes that
affect different groups differently. In Australia, there are approximately 105000 people
experiencing homelessness reported in the 2011 census. This equates to one in every two hundred
people. The homeless population of New South Wales accounts for over one quarter of the total in
Australia, at over 28000. One is considered to be homeless if they do not have access to safe,
secure and adequate housing. Homelessness generally refers to three types of homelessness with
varying severity.

Though they are from a similar region, the City of Sydney covers an area approximately nine times
the size of the CBD.
Focus
This report aims to address the issue of homelessness and give detailed information in regards to
the topic, as well as to answer the following questions.
В¬What are the main causes of homelessness in the Sydney CBD?
В¬How are the homeless affected (physical mental) and what actions are they taking?
В¬How are other members of society affected?
В¬What actions have been taken reduce the rate of homelessness and its effects?
В¬What actions could be taken to reduce the rate of homelessness and its effects?
In Regards to Accuracy
It is important to address the issues and limitations that may be present in this report. Recent and
reliable reports on the homeless is severely lacking, likely as a result of the sensitivity of the
issue. Similarly, the Sydney CBD is an extremely specific area and much of the information
collected is not specific to this area. Much of the information collected were extrapolated from data
that covered a larger area. As such, it is important to recognise that due to the nature of the data
collected, the information presented may be inaccurate or biased. Causes of Homelessness There
are numerous causes to homelessness. Specific events can cause homelessness, such as losing a

Critical Analysis Of Leonard Bernstein s The Age Of Anxiety
The opening night of the Atlanta symphony orchestra had high expectations for the music we were
about to experience. The night commenced with a work of art by Leonard Bernstein The Age of
Anxiety, conducted by music director Robert Spano. A meaningful piece written original to
describe a lengthy heartfelt poem that took place during World War II. The transition between
courses was a unique jazzy upbeat style of the Star Spangled Banner whereas to begin the night it
was a traditional legato style. The audience awaited to feel the recent material from composer
Michael Kurth. Expecting to witness nothing less than sensory images from what inspired Michael
Kurth to write such a delicate piece. As the night continued the large audience grew greater
admiration for the conductors and the orchestraitself. The musician s capability to perform lengthy
pieces of musicwas also a part of the astonishing experience. To conclude a night of emotion the
concerts final performance was a piece by George Gershwin, An American in Paris A piece heavily
influenced by modern time music that expresses freeway. The concert had an overall reconstruction
of American identity theme integrated within each selected piece.
Bernstein and Kurth were two of the talented and gifted composers of the night. Bernstein piece
The Age of Anxiety adhered closely to a symphonic form of music demonstrating a tonal center.

The Importance Of Columbus Day On America
In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue. This mnemonic is known by most American adults
and taught to children in some schools. However, this rhyme holds a belief in it that is not true.
When children are taught that Columbus set sail in 1492, they are also taught that when he did
so he discovered America. This is truly and utterly false. If Columbus Day is no longer named as
such, the Native Americans will be celebrated and a minority group will be represented rather
than a murder. By seeing that Columbus did not discover America, Columbus was a murder, and
the holiday Celebrated based on a common misconception, Columbus Day can become a more
enjoyable holiday for everyone. Many children and adults believe still believe that Columbus
discovered America. Contrary to common belief, Columbus did not discover America and he
never set out to prove the world was round. In Columbus s time, the fact that the earth was round
was common knowledge. However, Columbus believed that the diameter of the earth was
extremely small even though scientist had already proven otherwise (Blakemore). In 1942,
Columbus sailed the ocean blue to prove that he could cross the Atlantic by boat in only four days
(Blakemore). Of course, the King and Queen repeatedly rejected Columbus s requests for resources
to sail until they were desperate enough and needed more resources. Ultimately, Columbus s famous
discovery only happened because the Queen was desperate. Nevertheless, the Queen and King s

Aboriginal And Torres Strait Islander Health
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health The permanent impact of colonisation still has an
indisputable connection with the current health status of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
(ATSI) people. Poverty and powerlessness are social disadvantages amongst ATSI people which are
related to dispossession, reflected through measures of education, employment, income and
incarceration. Before 1788, indigenous Australians did not suffer from diseases such as
cardiovascular disease, smallpox, measles or influenza. All of this changed with the arrival of the
First Fleet, this epidemic affected the fabric of ATSI societies through depopulation and social
disruption. These issues continuously impact the health outcomes and prospects for ATSI... Show

The average ATSI person s disposable income is only 70% of the average non Indigenous
Australians. This gap is even wider in rural, remote parts of Australia; for example, in Cape York
the estimated weekly income for a ATSI person was $394 in comparison to a non Indigenous
Australians weekly disposable income of $896. Living in remote areas makes this even more of a
struggle as there are fewer employment opportunities, higher costs of goods and services, poor
education and poor infrastructure. Therefore, if ATSI people living in remote areas are already
living on a tight budget this makes it extremely difficult for them to afford suitable healthcare. To
overcome this issue, costs would have to be either kept very low or have complete government
funding to avoid a lack of expression of interest. With enough time and funding spent in this system,
it could potentially have an extremely positive impact on the health of Indigenous Australians living

Analysis Of Champion Of The World By Maya Angelou
Symbolism and Change in Sports Throughout the years, sports have become a major part of
society. Sports, a large percentage of the time, are a part of peoples lives in one way or another.
Whether they participate in them or just enjoy watching them, sports are a big deal to the majority
of people. There are also some individuals who have redefined the expectations when it comes to
certain sports. For instance, Babe Ruth redefined the way people think about baseball, or Michael
Jordan completely changing the game of basketball. But Joe Louis and Venus and Serena Williams
have changed their games in a way no one could have imagined. Although Champion of the
World by Maya Angelou and Woman Who Hit Very Hard and How They ve Changed Tennis by
Michael Kimmelman are different, they are similar in the ways they show how the respected
athletes, Joe Louis and the Williams sisters, changed the game and were seen using symbolism
in racial and sexual progression. In Champion of the World Maya Angelou writes about Joe
Louis road to success in how he changed boxing for his race. Angelou writes, This might be the
end of the world. If Joe lost we were back in slavery and beyond help. It would all be true; the
accusations that we were lower types of human beings. Only a little higher than apes. Angelou is
trying to convey that if Joe loses this fight, everything white men think about Negros is true. Joe s

A Letter About A Smile From Aural Orifice, Curling And...
A smile from aural orifice to aural orifice, curling and bright. It s a strange thing to write a letter
that will probably never be read, or will be read by others. An openness in something generally
private, no less strange or cumbersome than writing a letter to someone you don t know but
think you might like to though. How best to form and shape those ideas, herd them into some
form of coherency and clarity? To start you already have a letter from me, with an iPod in it.
Black envelope, gold lettering, gave it to you at the PA Wizard World. This is take two of things
that won t get read :) whatevs! Carpe Noctem and all that. It s just obnoxiously frustrating to see
someone you d love to have a conversation with, and not even have the chance to risk it and fail
spectacularly. Or unspectacularly, or perhaps not fail at all. Though to be honest the idea of
seeing how the conversational trains crash and sifting through the wreckage to find interesting
bits and bobs would be fun. But I m rotten through and through anyways, so that s no surprise.
Explaining why I want to converse with you might be hardest, besides saying I like the way you
string things together. It sounds fun, or at least memorably fucking awkward, to see if our trains
of thought share any of the same stations. It s not like I can invite you for a beer or a coffee, sans
all too often assumed subtext, to shoot the shit to test for conversational compatibility. You re a

Concert Review
I attended this concert at CU Denver s King Center, Concert Hall. Although the architectural design
and surrounding did not attest to much artistic creativity, the actual concert was better than my
expectations. I did have lower expectations because it was presented by students instead of
professional musicians or dancers as in my last concert review. The ensemble, a collaborative
outcome from MSU Denver and other dance/cultural musicgroups from denver, was actually a mix
of African and Indian/East Asian music and dance. The two teams alternated between each other
giving the audience a great deal of contrast of movement and sound. My favorite were the second

story is meant to encourage people to face their fears and fight for what they want. I liked how they
used the same movements when they were describing the story before starting their performance
which they later used during the dance. For example, one of the dancers showed the same throwing
movement which she later used in the performance. The dance was accompanied by an Indian
chant like song over the speakers. It had the same simplistic nature as the African music discussed
above which I again noticed that it put the focus on the dancers. They music and movement was
much slower and calmer than the Africans, which makes sense when seen in light of the Eastern

The Socratic Citizen
Assignment I: Is Socrates a good citizen? Discuss with reference to the Apology and the Crito.
The Socratic Citizen
Plato s Socrates is a character plagued and prized with contradictions. He professed to care for
nothing so much as virtue and human excellence but was incriminated by the greatest and most
open democracy in ancient history. He was wrongfully convicted, yet unwilling to avoid his unjust
execution. He is at once the most Athenian, citizenly, patriotic, and other regarding of philosophers
and yet the most critical and self regarding of Athenians. In exploring that contradiction, between
Socrates the loyal Athenian citizen and Socrates the philosophical critic of Athenian society,
Aristotle s Politics comes to mind: the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He presents himself as a human being of unparalleled piety and devotion who will risk life itself
rather than abandon the duty that has been given to him.
Socrates claims to be a selfless benefactor of the polis in that he had exhausted his private
resources in the pursuit of the public good (23b c, 30a, 31a c). Because he does what is good for
his fellow citizens for whom he feels regard despite the danger to which this exposes him,
Socrates claims to be a benefactor of the Athenians. He refers with pride to his record of military
service and underlines that it was service to the democracy: When the commanders that you
elected to command me stationed me at Potidaea and Amphipolis and Delion, I remained there
like anyone else, and ran the risk of death (28e). He is an honorable citizen who disregards death
and preaches that The difficulty, my friends, is not to avoid death, but to avoid unrighteousness;
for that runs faster than death. He has demonstrated that he is, by his own right, a patriotic citizen
who cares deeply about the good of his polis and one who consistently acts in what he sees as his
city s best interests; but he has also shown also that, in light of his own definition of patriotism,
Socrates must be regarded as a uniquely patriotic Athenian.
Unlike the Apology, the Crito seems intended to exhibit the character of Socrates in one

The Ethical Theory Of Property
The Utilitarian theory of property seeks to maximize the population s utility when a property
decision is made, the greatest good for the greatest amount of people. To apply this theory one
must define and aggregate a measure of utility comparable for all people in a cost benefit
analysis. A popular measure for utility, under the welfarist economics utilitarian view, is utilizing
the price a person is willing to pay for a good or service as the value aggregated in the cost benefit
analysis. However, a strict welfarist utilitarian analysis will not work in this instance because
welfarisim is too individualistic and decisions regarding public property and disabilityaccess will
necessarily involve other costs, such as those to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Price seems to be the best measure for utility as almost anything can be commodified and priced
by members of the population. Furthermore, other economic measures, such as how a decision
increases a person s wealth, will not reach the full population affected by this decision as some
parties, like tourists do not have their wealth increased by such a public property decision.
Determining the value that individuals place on the property in question on Beacon Hill, the
historic sidewalks and ramps necessitates looking into the different groups of interested
individuals affected by the Beacon Hill handicapped ramp decision. Individuals with disabilities
that require accessible handicapped ramps pose a problem for determining a value these
individuals would give the Beacon Hill handicapped ramp decision. This is because Beacon Hill
serves many different functions to people. For those people with disabilities that live on Beacon
Hill, updated handicapped ramps could mean the difference having access to their homes or
having to move. For this group it is easy to determine a value of welfare and benefit they derive
from Beacon Hill as the price they are willing to pay to live in the area. Next still within the
category of persons with disabilities is the value to such persons of their ability to get to their jobs.
Beacon Hill is populated with various government offices and private

A Comparison Of Ancient Greek And Roman Civilization
Throughout History many civilizations have rose and fallen but we will be analyzing Greek
and Roman Civilization. Many people view the Romans as a copy cat empire compared to the
Greek because they modeled so many things after the Greeks, for myself, it would be correct to
assume this were true. At first during the colonial age or era, Romans and Greek heavily
influenced one another which one had engaged in trade at the Black Sea the surrounding
Mediterranean areas. Trading between the two nations was very successful due to the safety of
Roman Military presence. Over time, the Romans had adapted many of the Greeks practices
and believes. This is one of the main reasons that Roman could be seen as a copy cat of Ancient
Greece. Ancient Greece and Rome both had used agriculture. However, Rome did not have much
problems with production of food through agriculture like the Greeks did. Both of them had
produced products like wheat, but the former, Greece, had failed to produce a good amount of
wheat because Romans had far superior farming techniques. Instead of having a good production
of wheat, the Greeks had substituted wheat for olive oil hence why many people think of olive oil
coming from Greece. Both nations had heavily relied on slaves as well. How could a nation
become so successful with running the government, thinking about important ideals, or enjoying
themselves if they had to worry about how they were going to get fed? Roman slaves were a little

Puritans Religious Beliefs
The English reformed Protestants would be funded to establish a new colony in the America s with
almost radical ideals. They were called the Puritans, but shaped American history. John Winthrop
led the expedition that bring this religion across the sea with good and pure examples. Puritan ideas
and beliefs affected the political reign as well as the economy, not to mention the entire society.
Their religious ideals would shape almost everything about the community, as well as country. The
church was a mandatory attendance in Puritan communities. While not all attendees were full
members, things such as how the town would run and voting were decided by the church. For the
Puritans, religious and political life were completely intertwined. (Puritans in America, Study, 2017)
The Puritans believed that God had a unique covenant with them, and that they were expected to
live by the beliefs of the scriptures. Just as other religious beliefs, such as the Amish, they had no
tolerance for drinking, sex without procreating. Many were often left in fear of what their ultimate
fate was after death, whether eternal salvation or damnation. Because of their mandatory
expectations, early migrants of the Massachusetts Bay colonies were full members of the Puritan
churches. The church was very strict in their beliefs, and in their influence in the colonies. This fear
and worship would be prevalent in most American religious, as well as their study and sacrifice.

Axeon Case Study Essay
In my point of view, the problem from this case is whether Axeon NV pursue constructing the new
manufacturing plant in the UK or manufacture the product (AR 42) in its existing plant in
Netherland. This problem arises from the the proposal from UK Subsidiary (Hollandsworth) that
become a matter of controversy as its projected profitability is questioned by managementat Axeon
s headquarter. I analyze that there are three issues from this case: (1). Decentralization, since Axeon
allows its subsidiaries manager considerable autonomy regarding what products to sell in their
territories, however, in this case, Hollandsworth s proposal seems to be rejected by Axeon, (2).
Management behavior issues, facts in the case suggested that Mr van Leuven... Show more content

Some calculation that I analyze are: (1) the proposal plant depreciation that is too fast (annual
depreciation should be 52,000 instead of 280,000); (2) the calculation of Net Present Value of
future cash flow use 8% loan interest instead of the company s required rate of return 12%.
Moreover, I think there are benefits and drawbacks whether building the new plant in the UK or
maximize the capacity of Dutch s plant in producing additional product. Building new plant in the
UK is a way to finance and support of the UK board members, it will open new jobs and a greater
image of the company in England and this product will be still profitable after 7 years. On the other
hand, manufacturing the product in Netherland would be more profitable and less investment since
Axeon does not need to take a bank loan, a longer production runs, a lower set up costs and a larger
raw material, also market penetration still possible in the Netherland. However, there is a
possibility that Hollandsworth s manager enthusiasm and initiative are bound to suffer since Ian
(the manager) felt that he has less autonomy than before. Additionally, Hollandsworth might think
that Axeon want to monopoly the AR 42

Visual Pleasure And Narrative Cinema
From an issue that was discussed in class, we discussed about the gaze. In Laura Mulvey s Visual
Pleasure and Narrative Cinema she discusses about scopophilia, which is the pleasure in looking
which also incorporates exhibitionism (pleasure in being looked at). This term also applies to
cinema. She focuses on the idea of the male gazein cinema, where films are created in favor of the
male audience. Thus the action of cinema compromises of women as image, man are bearer of
the look . Mulveys states that women in the film industry are catogarized on two levels, where
woman are seen as erotic objects for the characters within the film and also erotic objects for the
spectators of the film. She then moves on to criticize famed director Alfred Hitchcocks film Rear
Windowfor how he portrayed woman in the film. Alfred Hitchcock s movie correlates to Mulvey
s ideas which support her theories of scopophilia and voyeurism in cinema, she believed that the
film exploits the male gaze and how it antagonises woman in an anti feminism manner. In the film,
the main actor is restricted in his apartment due to his broken leg from his latest assigned project.
He spends most of his time watching his neighbours from his window and later comes to suspect
one of his neighbour murdering his bed ridden wife when we suddenly disappears from sight.
Hitchcock successfully implies voyeurism through main actor James Stewart s character in the film,

owner, John Sandford, for assaulting himself, and his family. Scott openly admitted he was born
a slave and of African descent, but he also argued that once his owner took him and his family to
a free state and territory to exist in, his family became free from slavery. And since they were
free when Sandford moved them back to Missouri, Scott claimed it was illegal for Sandford to
assault him and his family. Scott also claimed he should be legally considered a citizen by the state.
These are the ideas on which Scott pursued to sue Sandford. His declaration specifically had three
counts: that Sandford assaulted Dred Scott that Sandford had assaulted Harriet,

The Species Corvus Corax
The species Corvus corax is well known and recognized as one of the smartest animals in the
world. Many studies have been conducted in investigating sophistication of its cognitive processes
in recent years. A good number of them support this withstanding belief of high intelligence. Others
reveal gaps in factors of their intelligence that were not previously presumed.. Pfuhl (2012), Schied
Bugnyar (2008) and Boeckle Bugnayr (2012) studies show very proficient spatial reasoningand

In the recent decades, this theory of high intelligence has gone under much research and
experimentation to intent to establish the extent of corvid cognition. Multiple studies have been
conductive on Corvus corax examining its cognitive abilities. They have related these abilities to
the species phenology and evolution along with other cognitively gifted animals, such as apes (van
Horik et al. 2012). While the belief of high intelligence remains relatively true for certain cognitive
aspects such as spatial reasoning and memory, these corvids prove less competent in the areas like
contextual understanding and problem solving with patterns.
Literature Review
Well Developed Cognitive Processes Reasoning. Spatial reasoning plays into the concept of
intelligence and it aids to the survival of organisms. It is useful to know one s orientation in the
world and being able to draw inferences from another object s or organisms orientation. In a
2012 study conducted by Gerit Pfuhl, ravens were tested in their spatial and causal reasoning
based on pulling a set of strings. The major factor of this was which of the strings they decided to
pull. The procedure was to attach meat and/or a weighted object (i.e., a small block of wood) to
strings, alternating the position of the food and wood in the string and putting the strings at a
certain height. The strings were the hung from a special

Lace Up Your Shoes Essay
Quick! Look at your shoes. If your shoes have laces, they might be tied wrong. In fact, about 50%
of Americans tie their shoes the wrong way, that is, they use the wrong knot when tying their
shoes. If your laces come undone, or your bows are twisted, or you double knot your shoes to
prevent them from coming untied, then chances are, you tie your shoes the wrong way.
About two years ago I took up running. I loved my new sport and entered several running events
and races mostly 5K s. Six months into my new hobby, I decided I was a real runner and because
I was a real runner, I needed to subscribe to a real running magazine. It s a well known fact that

First you were shown how to take one lace and pass it under the other. After reading this, it dawned
on me that most of us
were taught how to tie our shoes when we were four or five years old. Our parents or siblings
taught us, but didn t necessarily teach us to do it right. If you tie your shoes wrong, don t worry. It
only takes a minor tweak to tie the right knot a Reef Knot. All shoelace knots start the same; laces
crossed over under, and then finish with a bow. However, if you finish the bow in the same
direction that you crossed the laces, you will end up with a Granny Knot. A Granny Knot has an
unbalanced bow, e.g., the bow is turned at 45 to 90 degrees and sometimes it s perfectly inline with
the shoe (see illustration below). Granny Knots usually come untied. People that tie granny knots,
granny knotters are the people you see in line at the grocery store tying their shoes. They are the
people whose shoes come untied at the most inopportune time, like the base runner rounding third
base heading for home plate in the World Series, or the marathon runner who has to stop to tie his
shoes in the middle of the race. Granny knotters tie double knots to prevent their shoes from
coming untied. This works until its time to untie the knot, and we all know how hard it can be to
untie a double knot, especially with cold hands.

power has been pushed aside in the past by researchers due to the fact that there was not a large
market for a system like this. Within the past 20 years, portable electronics i.e. mP3 players,

Eliminating a physical power connection to the phone also allows more adaptability by being
able to charge without strict device position or orientation. The simple design of the compact
receiver coil allows for a more discreet installation into the product due to the minimal receiver
components. Industrial sectors can also benefit from WiPower technology in multiple ways. The
system has proven itself impervious to any type of contamination. Devices with the technology
prevent any problems of chemicals, water, sand, dirt, mud and other debris collecting within
charging ports or device housings that could ultimately affect the performance of the electronic
device. With no physical connections, exposed metallic contacts are no longer needed. This
prevents any type of corrosion on the contact surface that will also affect performance as well as
the elimination of sparking hazards across open contacts. Developing safe devices requires that the
chosen battery must past multiple meticulous tests. By removing external contacts needed for a
battery, this technology will allow device designers to simplify the physical size and complexity of
the device. WiTricity picks up the wireless power technology for applications that require a further
range that WiPower cannot supply. Perhaps the best known example for this distance is

Video Games Stereotypes
Video Games
Video games first started being introduced into the world around the 1970 s and since then have
evolved and made an impact on the real life and online world. Throughout the years of video games
making more and more of an impact in the entertainment industry, the question to weather they are a
form of media still remains. Media is defined as the main means of mass communication (television,
radio, and newspapers) regarded collectively. And depending where you re coming from media can
include the video gaming industry, film industry, tv industry and of course the news and marketing
industries.

As video games is such a big medium, they are able to convey messages to the players in a more
low key way, gender representations and stereotyping are both big things that the video gaming
industry can effectively play a big part in. Stereotyping refers to one group s generalised and
widely accepted perception about the personal attributes of members of another group (Ashmore
Boca, 1981; Dates Barlow, 1990). Within most traditional media, gender and racial stereotypes
are the most pervasive two. Increased distorted representation of women and minorities can have
a negative effect on the way that the viewer sees that particular group. The way that video games
are able to influence large masses is another reason to why it is able to be classified as a
legitimate form of media. The definition of media as stated above being, the main means of mass
communication (television, radio, and newspapers) regarded collectively. . Female characters have
changed and evolved throughout the time of video games, the first ever playable female character
in a mainstream game was created in 1986 and then another well known female character was
created by 1996, and that one being the protagonist of Tomb Raider, Lara Croft. By 2014 it is now
able to be chosen by the player in a collective of certain games to weather they play as male or
female. It isn t uncommon to see a female characters in a video game to be over sexualised, much
like mass media in todays age. Female characters are also commonly portrayed as a damsel in
distress , and the male protagonist is usually the one to save her. Mass medias such as the news
and newspapers have this in common with video games, making it out that females usually need
some sort of male hero in their lives. There is a big push for more women to be involved in the
creation of video games

Different Market Models And Models Of The Electricity...
Different market model.
In order to understand Electricity Market model, only four basic structure models that have been
widely applied in electricity industry:
1.Vertically Integrated Utility/ Monopoly Model
2.Single Buyer/ Purchasing Agency Model
3.Wholesale Competition Model
4.Retail Competition Model
All of the model above have the features to achieve the Electricity Supply Industry (ESI) objectives
and build a better organization.
1.Vertically Integrated Utility/ MonopolyModel
This model illustrates the most common electricity industry structure and its implement a
monopoly on selling electric power to consumers, so customers does not have choice to choose and
purchase electricity and there is no competition occurs between the electricity supply company. The
utility regulatory and owns all or most of generation, transmission and distribution facilities.

The only remaining monopoly functions are thus the provision and operation of the transmission
and distribution network. The retail price no longer has to be regulated because small consumers
can change retailer when they are offered a better price. From an economics perspective, this model
is the most satisfactory because energy prices are set through market interactions. However, it
requires considerable amounts of metering, communication and data processing. The cost of the
transmission and distribution network is still charged to all their users as it is done on a regulated
basis because these networks remain

Cyber Bullying And Its Effect On Today s Youth
Studies have shown that cyberbullying incidents have quadrupled in the last five years.
Cyber bullying has become a huge issue recently. It is despairing to turn on the news
everyday and watching reports going on about bullying and the number of suicides such
has lead to. Love is Louder has been a phrase commonly used by celebrities to send out
a message not only to fans but to humanity proving that bullying is not righteous and should
not be tolerated. The more the communication through technology expands and widens, the
more bullies torture their innocent victims. The fact is that technology is somehow not being
used for the precise matter, so we need to figure out a way to put an end to cyber bullies
injudicious actions. Cyberbullying is becoming a radical obstacle and we all need to do our
parts to building a mindful perspective of what can be done to stop cyber bullies ones in for all.
Cyber bullies will continue to be a threat to today s youth until we take preventative
measures against them. Before terminating cyberbullying we must first perceive why and
how a cyber bully works. After researching and analyzing explanatory articles on such topic,

Morning Sickness Experienced By Pregnant Women
Morning sickness is a term to describe the ill feeling experienced by pregnant women who are in
their first trimester of pregnancy. The ill feeling is better defined as food aversions, nausea and
vomiting. It is termed morning sickness because many women experience it upon rising (Profet,
1995); but in reality, morning sickness could happen at any time of the day. So the term morning
sickness may be a misnomer. There are many other terms used including nauseaand vomiting in
pregnancy(NVP) rather than morning sickness (Flaxman Sherman, 2000). The term NVP will be
used throughout this essay. Generally, everyone has a toxin tolerance threshold to detect level of
toxicity in their blood; and if this threshold is exceeded, will induce... Show more content on

Another similar study on spices by Flaxman and Sherman (2000) showed that spices have anti
microbial properties and are commonly used in hot climate countries because unrefrigerated food
are prone to food spoilage faster. Although Billing and Sherman (1998) agreed that spices help to
maintain palatability of food besides enhancing its flavour, but Flaxman and Sherman (2000)
suggested that too much of spices may be harmful as well. For example, ingestion of large amounts
of capsaicin causes high toxicity in blood; this is even worse in pregnant women as their toxin
tolerance thresholds are lowered (Flaxman Sherman, 2000). So, certain spices could cause NVP
when they are consumed in large amounts. Also, excessive amounts of caffeine causes spontaneous
abortions (Weathersbee, Olsen and Lodge, 1977) and through NVP, pregnant women will tend to
reduce intake of caffeine.
Food aversions cause reduced nutrient intake in pregnant women as they experience weight loss
during their first trimester (Tierson, Olsen and Hook, 1986). Although this may protect the
embryos, it may increase cardiovascular and behavioural diseases when they are grown up (Watkins
et al. 2008). The maternal threshold for tolerating toxicity is lowered during the first trimester; it
will then increase during the second and third trimesters (Profet, 1995). Profet (1995) explained that
the lowering of toxin tolerance threshold in pregnant women as hyperosmatic because they are

Today s story and renditions of Rapunzel are derived from the 1857 publication by Jacob and
Wilhelm Grimm in their collection of fairy tales and folktales, Children and Household Tales;
however, ideas for their published story had much more primitive origins. The original motif of
hair being used as a ladder dates all the way back to the 10th century when a Persian poet by the
name of Ferdowsi wrote that, Roudabe offers to lower her hair to her true love, Zal, to use as a
ladder to climb up on to the roof of the women s enclosure, as Laura Getty describes in her article
Maidens and their guardians: Reinterpreting the `Rapunzel tale (16). Much of Rapunzel s plot is
influenced by oral German translations of the Italian fairy tale Petrosinella by Giambattista Basile
in 1634. Similarly to how Rapunzel is locked away in a tower by a fairy as a consequence for
her parents stealing rapunzel plant from the fairy s garden, Petrosinella, or Parsley in English, is
taken by an ogress in consequence for her mother taking Parsley from the her garden. The ogress
then proceeds to put the poor girl into a tower, which she caused to arise by her art, and which
had neither gate nor ladder, but only a little window, through which she ascended and descended
by means of Parsley s hair, which was very long, (Ashliman). Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm used all
of these early influences to eventually publish their first edition of Rapunzel in

Research Paper On Anne Bradstreet What A Wonderful Woman
Anne Bradstreet What a Wonderful Woman: Essay 1
Having read all of Anne Bradstreet s outstanding poems I ve obtained a greater understanding of
the persona of a wonderful woman is supposed to be. A wonderful woman must be a strong
intellectual woman, who has a true love to her family, and must also have a strong connection with
her faith.
Anne Bradstreet began her journey of becoming a wonderful woman by first growing into a strong
and intellectual woman. When Anne Bradstreet was very young she separated herself from the
status queue by obtaining an education that other women in the society wouldn t even think
about doing. Her father Thomas Dudley was a great teacher to his daughter giving her a variety
of books such as Shakespeare, Phillip Sydney, and countless others in his library which allowed
her to expand her knowledge through the books. When she had read all of her books she would
listen in on her father s debates with puritan intellectuals thus giving her the proper communication
skills needed to talk about the ideals of the bible the way she does in her poems. The fact that she
did all of this while diagnosed with Rheumatic fever is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Which then leads to another key factor in being a wonderful woman which would be the love
that the woman has for her family. Anne Bradstreet s poems such as To My Dear Children , To
my Deal and Loving Husband , and In memory of My Dear Grandchild , all represent her true
passion to cherish her family. Each one of these poems strive to show us how family is truly
sentimental to her with words like My love is such that rivers cannot quench . Even in her sorrow
she shares her love of the deceased by saying Farewell dear babe, my hearts too much content .
Anne Bradstreet is an accurate view of an American woman that is very devoted to her family and
this is beyond a doubt represented through her

Features And Use Of Negotiation In A Business Environment
Negotiation is needed to maintain an ease of work flow, effective communication allows you to
get things done faster and more efficiently and also reduce arguments. For example in my
workplace my colleague doesn t like having excess mail in our shared inbox as she needs to attend
to specific emails so I have to remove any unnecessary mail so as to not prevent her from working
effectively. 1.1Explain the features and uses of negotiation in a business environment There are two
main types of negotiation: integrative negotiation and distributive negotiation. Integrative
negotiation refers to the notion of a win win situation and pertains to a mutally beneficial effort
whereas distributive negotiation is more of a win lose situation where both parties are competing
with one another. 1.2Identify the components of negotiation tactics There s four common strategies
used for negotiating such as: yielding someone readily accepting the other parties proposal to avoid
ill feelings, compromising coming up with a fair deal for both parties, competing both parties

The Lockheed Toad Analysis
From cradle to grave, our minds change in response to interactions and experiences we have.
Interactions with other humans have the most effect in who we are and how we perceive and
react to the world around us. In Gerald Haslam s short story The Horned Toad, young Gerald
learns many life lessons as a result of his grandmother when she comes to live with him and his
family. At first, a great deal of tension exists between Gerald and his grandmother, which causes
displeasure for them both. As they adjust to their new situation, the way they understand each other
becomes less hostile. Symbolism used in this tale also mirrors their progress. Soon, there is almost

A recurring symbol that also happens to be the story s namesake, is the horned toad. The first time
Gerald brings a horned toad home from the empty lot across the street, his grandmother reacts
wildly. ВЎExpectoran su sangre! ( They spit blood!) (Page 1). This acknowledges both the

each other. After their relationship improves, Gerald brings the toad to her again, and
Grandmother s reaction is directly opposite to what it was the first time. Hola, senor sangre de

much softer both to the toad and in response to Gerald than the one before. Though Grandmother
still speaks in spanish, Gerald understands her. This is symbolic of the fact that despite the
grandmother not changing her root personality, Gerald still comes to know her better, just like he

Essay on Flowers For Algernon by Daniel Keyes
Society has become a shallow place. If an individual does not fit into societies form of the normal
person then they are treated differently. But does society treat those who are different in a negative
or positive way? In the novel Flowers for Algernon, the author Daniel Keyes shows an in depth
look at the treatment of individuals in today s society. Firstly society tends to discriminate against
those whose IQ does not fit into the norms of our society. The physically handicapped in today s
world are not considered to be equal as those who fit into the normal physical appearance, Keyes
portrays this through Charlie s thoughts while in the cafГ©. Although animals are not technically

still cannot communicate with her the way he needs to. I m just as far away from Alice with an
I.Q of 185 then when I had an IQ of 70 (Keyes 88). In today s society if a persons thoughts

In my writing process, pre writing was my initial step where I had to find the narrative to write. I
had numerous stories in my mind, but I had to get the best, which draws inspiration to me, and the
one that could teach valuable lessons to my audience. So, I had to refer from that childhood

Therefore, I had to use the myth worksheet issued at class, to make sure that my story meets all the

most intended life lesson to my audience. That is when I decided to plan and structure on what to
write down in particular.
The actual writing was my second step, where I had to start writing my draft. However, I had
several challenges at this phase, such as word count, grammar issues, among others. Apparently, I
had to write several rough copies of my narrative. Again, I had to get the best time and location to
eliminate any potential distractions. In fact, at this stage, I had no confidence with my narrative on
whether it will convey a relevant meaning to my audience.
But now the writing process was advancing well, and I started revising my paper. When revising
my narrative, I had to adapt A.R.R.R.R approach where, I had to add some words, rearrange my
paragraphs and sentences to consider flow, pacing, and sequencing of my story. Again, I had to
remove the irrelevant parts, considering whether the reader will acquire the required message.
Finally, replacing them with the relevant words and phrases.
My final step was editing and proofreading. At this phase, I had to check for clarity, grammar,
repetition, punctuation, and spelling. Editing and proofreading were detailed processes since they
were the last step in my writing process. At this moment, I had gained confidence in my paper,
since I had read it several times, affirming that it made some sense. Furthermore, I gave it to my
friend who is a professional to proofread, and he assured me that the paper was sensible.
Revising the Narrative
Apparently, I had to review my story to convey the message swiftly. In the initial story,

Highly Sensitive Research Paper
A highly sensitive person has high sensitivity to the world around them. High sensitivity, also
called sensory processing sensitivity, is a completely normal trait that affects between 15 to 20% of
the population, or 1.4 billion people, according to experts on the subject.
People can have a lot of success despite being highly stimulated by the world around them. For
example, Alanis Morissette has openly talked about how she is a highly sensitive person and often
felt misunderstood and misperceived, but that hasn t stopped her from doing some great things in
this world.
It s interesting that being highly sensitive is not limited to humans. Biologists have discovered this
trait in over 100 species, including dogs, horses, and even birds.
We tend to use the term highly sensitive person as a bad label for someone. For instance, we might

They See And Feel The Beauty In Life More Intensely
Many people who are highly sensitive have an appreciation for music, art, love, and joy that people
who are not don t feel. The thought of something beautiful, like true love, can bring tears to their
eyes and resonate deeply into their soul.
People who are highly sensitive find that they are moved by the beauty of nature. The trees, the
mountains, the rivers, the oceans, and the animals in nature all touch a chord in them that makes
them feel love, peace, and gratitude more intensity.
Moreover, they notice the subtle things in life more, such as the little flower that goes unnoticed by
other people. They cherish those little things, and they are the people who inspire others to stop and
smell the roses!
4. They Have Deeper Conversations And Interactions With Others
People who are highly sensitive find it easier to talk about important things. They may not find
small talk, such as the weather, that important. But, when they hear about something that has some
deeper meaning about life, love, or emotions, they are more likely to participate in the

Response To Talia s Last Letter
Thank you for sharing life with me over the last many years. As I ponder life, I am so very
grateful for the moments we have shared in our own personal discovery, development and as a
family. I would like to apologize for my behavior over the last six months as well as a few
specific events that I caused. I inflicted such underserved pain and discord. When I became
overwhelmed by some personal issues I made some very bad decisions with regards to coping
mechanisms and for this I am truly sorry. Sharing a relationship and making commitments as a
father and daughter is a powerful emotional moment. I have cared and loved you with all my soul

I was obsessed emotionally with finding you and making you safe. I knew you hated me but all I
could think of is how much I love you and the primordial desire I had to reach into the river or
gulf and bring you home to your life. I personally have been unable to focus on even the basics
of my life without the shame I am experiencing and the continuous interruption of thought due to
my feeling of humiliation, guilt, and remorse. This is the last letter I will write as part of my
addiction program. It is the last because it is the hardest for me to understand. Trying to
understand how I could love someone so much and treat her so poorly is a concept that I fight to
come to terms. I believe I have been a good parent to you but I simple do not understand my

motto of the lessons are ?the best apology is changed behavior?. I however will always question
where my anger arises from and have vowed to fight a better battle with tools other than alcohol. As
I close these thoughts I want you to know that my stress, behavior, and argument with you has

Higher Taxa Report
Written largely for the graduate student of paleontology, The Origin of Higher Taxa by Tom Kemp
(emeritus university lecturer in palaeontology at the University of Oxford, and specialist on
therapsids [also known as mammal like reptiles] and mammal origins), explores the problem of
higher taxa, and the mechanism, his theory of correlated progression, by which they evolve. The
book consists of nine chapters, roughly broken up into: introduction to the subject and the nature of
higher taxa and organisms, the paleontological (evolutionary change) and developmental evidence,
and the fossil record and synthesis.
The introductory chapters proceed rather quickly, discussing the philosophical nature of Darwinian
natural selection, microevolution versus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kemp uses this model to highlight features as the Cambrian explosion, and the origin of
tetrapods, mammals, turtles, birds, and whales from the vertebrate fossil record. While going
through these case studies Kemp references the usual classic paleontological works, but the text
is also wonderfully up to date, citing the most recent relevant research in the respective fields.
This is also true of the early chapters of the fields of developmental and ecological perspectives
and of the regulatory gene networks where classic studies draw attention to early theories while
the newer works and reports incorporate the latest ideas. The current literature in just one of
these fields is vast so Kemp has done a reasonable task of summarizing the more salient points. In
his efforts, Kemp emphasizes that I have tried to show that of the cases of the origin of taxa that
we know something about, especially from the fossil record all are compatible with and can be
explained by these processes, (p. 178). While that may be true, some scientists may argue that one
model may not fit all scenarios. However, this will be the case with any model. Science needs new
ideas and new models in order to progress and remain

The Dangers Of Blaxploitation Films Essay
The Dangers of Blaxploitation Films
Blaxploitation movies in American society were at an all time high in the 1970 s. They gained
popularity during and after the civil rights movement due to the influence African Americans were
having on society. The movie Coffy, directed by Jack Hill and release in 1973, is a great example
of how Blaxploitation movies reinforced the stereotypes that already exist about black men and
women. Young African Americanfilmmakers, made lots of these types of movies in order to appeal
to the young African American crowd. In the article Baadasss Gangstas: The Parallel Influences,
Characteristics and Criticisms of the Blaxploitation Cinema and Gangsta Rap , by Dustin Engels, it
says, African American artists began using their mediums to appeal directly to black audiences in
an attempt to spawn cultural movements that would display and bring to the forefront the cultural,
social and economic struggles of the African American experience. The African American that was
originally making these films had a positive purpose and wanted to spread social consciousness in
the best way they could.
Even though these types of movies gave great opportunities to black actors and actresses, I believe
that these films do more harm than good. Young audiences, no matter the race, are very
impressionable. The black children who grew up watching Blaxploitation movies were being
exposed to very explicit, stereotypical content that is to influence how they feel about

control my mood and emotions unlike any other. The sounds and melodies of the composition
have the potential to sway my moods from a dark gloomy state all the way to a joyous and

Comparison of American and Vietnamese Culture
For this paper I will examine Vietnamese culture according to the five essential questions all
cultures must answer (according to Kluckhohn and Strodtbeck). I will then take those answers and
compare then to out culture here in America. I realize that some might argue that using North
American culture as a starting point is an attempt to simplify this writing, but I believe that any
initial examination of something new is most effectively done in comparison to what one already
knows. The first essential question Kluckhohn and Strodtbeck ask is how do they view human
nature? (Obilade 2008). The predominant view of human nature in Vietnamis deeply rooted in
Buddhist thought. Buddhism teaches that humans are born to suffer... Show more content on

I ll answer that question by looking at the most fundamental social unit of any culture...the family.
In Vietnam, independence is far from desirable, much less respected. Family connections are so
powerful that it is not unheard of for as many as three generations to live in the same household
(often the direct result of grown children s desire to do whatever necessary to care for their aging
parents). Someone s success or failure is never seen as theirs alone, but is directly credible to the
family. If one wished to insult a
Vietnamese person, one could simply refer to the Vietnamese person as ill bred ...thereby damaging
the individual and the family equally.
Family connections are so strong in fact, that a hard life is often viewed as the result of improper
behavior committed by ones ancestors (Wubker 2008). In direct contrast to the Vietnamese, the
familial bonds within American families are much weaker. Familial closeness is mostly reserved
for the nuclear family (husband, wife, and their respective children). Most Americans would
certainly scoff at the idea of housing multiple generations within the same home. In fact, many
couples make a conscious effort following marriage to avoid living too close to the parents of
either party. A married couple s life is their life, and there (more often than not) is a line that can be
crossed where involvement comes to be seen as interference. American parents feel pride

My Memories Of My Grandfather
Some might look at a pile of red and white dice as an irrelevant object, but to me they had a
deeper meaning. To me they meant the best memories of my grandfather. They meant how he
would take us fishing and while we waited for a bite he would tell me stories of playing
professional football while I played with the dice. To me they meant the last memories of my
grandpa. My grandma and grandpa lived only 2 hours away in a tiny town just outside of State
College, the town was called Hollidaysburg. My grandpa had lived there his whole life. He
played sports for the local High School. He was All American in football, All State in basketball,
and All American in baseball. My grandma told me stories about how she went to the rival high
school, and how they would try there hardest to throw him off his game. She said to me We
would make signs to try to get in his head, but it seemed like nothing would work. I asked Was he
really that good? She responded Well, every time he touched the ball in basketball we would
double team him, and he still averaged about 30 points a game. she continued When we would
play him in football he never came off the field, he was the kicker, the punter, a tight end, and a
linebacker. I sat there in disbelief, I hadn t realized how powerful he was when he was in
highschool. I could hear him trudging down the hallway he opened the door and I saw my
grandfather, a bulky, tower of a man. He took a seat next to me and asked What were you

What Are The Advantages Of Roller Skating
As early as several years ago, roller skating become very popular and I used to dream of

following advantages: Firstly, roller skating is beneficial to children s comprehensive ability
improvements, which include physical agility, powers of endurance, a good sense of balance
and so forth. Through roller skating training, a considerable level of coordination between
children s brains and bodies are likely to be achieved. Besides, based on scientific research,
children involved in sports which require quick reactions and flexibility, such as roller skating, are
liable to acquire more developments for their cerebellums. Their kin esthetic intelligence, therefore,

intelligence are probably to be effectively avoided. Undoubtedly,... Show more content on

Ohio V. United States in Violations from the Constitution
Both the fourth and fifth amendment protect the privacies of individuals from governmental
intrusion. Appellant Boyd complained that she was denied her constitutional right to testify. The
right to testify comes from many amendments and clauses in the constitution such as the due
process clauses, the Fifth, and Fourteenth amendment. The court held that the search for and seizure
of evidence within an accused s possession might well result in compelling the accused to be a
witness against himself. Then, the court reasoned that the search was unreasonable ab initio and it
makes it a violation of the fourth amendment. Justice Black mentioned in his concurrence that if
something is obtained illegally, it cannot be used again the appellant. The Boyd s case was not the
only case mentioned in the Mapp v. Ohioopinion. Additionally, Weeks v. United States (1914) was
a case that determined the warrantless seizure of items from an individual is a violation of the
Fourth Amendment. The police seized a few papers from Freemont Weeks s home and he was
charged with transporting lottery tickets through the mail. These papers were taken from his home
without a warrant. Weeks asked that his papers be returned to him. This case is another example of
the violation of the fourth amendment. The opinion giving in this case agreed that the constitution
protects the rights of the citizens unless someone committed a crime. Therefore, the government
has the permission to restrict someone s

What Are Panic Disorders With Agoraphobia
Panic Disorders with Agoraphobia
By Jennifer Allen
Abnormal Psychology
Dr. Kuhnert
Columbia College Abstract Panic Disorder with Agoraphobia
Panic disorder and agoraphobia are two separate disorders that often go hand in hand with each
other. An individual can be diagnosed with panic disorder, but a diagnosis without agoraphobia can
often take place as well. Some individuals develop symptoms of agoraphobia, but do not have the
classic panic disorder symptoms, hence the reason they are both listed as separate disorders in the
DSM 5. Panic disorder can be identified as recurrent unexpected panic attacks. A panic attack is an
abrupt surge of intense fear or intense discomfort that reaches a peak within minutes, and during
which time four or more physical and cognitive characteristics take place (Hooley, J. 2017,
pg.188). When dealing with panic disorder it can often become debilitating, due to the fact that
the individual does not know when the onset of an attack will occur. Individuals with panic
disorder more commonly develop agoraphobia as a comorbid disorder, and if left untreated, can
have a difficult time even leaving their home. Agoraphobia can be defined as the individual fears or

Experimental Oral Controlled Release And Site Specific...
ABSTRACT Oral controlled release and site specific drug delivery system has been of great
interest in pharmaceutical field to achieve improved therapeutic advantage. Drug absorption in the
gastrointestinal tract is a highly variable procedure and prolonging gastric retention of the dosage
form extends the time for drug absorption. Gastro retentive drug delivery system is one of such
novel approaches to prolong gastric residence time, thereby targeting site specific drug release in
the stomachfor local or systemic effects. This approach is useful particularly for the drugs which
have narrow absorption window in the upper part of gastro intestinal tract. Various approaches of
gastro retentive drug delivery system, such as floating and non floating, have been discussed in this
review. This review also gives an overview of merits, demerits and evaluation parameters of gastro
retentive system.
Key words: Gastro retentive drug delivery system, non floating system, floating system, evaluation
parameters
INTRODUCTION: Despite the tremendous advancement in drug delivery, oral route is the most
preferred route to the systemic circulation due to the ease of administration, low cost of drug,
patient compliance and flexibility in formulation. About 90% of all drugs used to produce
systemic effects are administered by oral route. Of the drugs that are administered orally, solid oral
dosage forms represent the preferred class of products. Tablets are the most common type of

with patients whose primary complaint is an emotional or behavior disorder, including substance
abuse (according to DSM). This goal is directed at both types of hospitals for important reasons;
(1) general hospitals do not have an environment that is conducive to the protection of individuals
who are suicidal, and (2) psychiatric hospitals are constructed to protect individuals who are

My Adventure Essay
As blood ran through my system like race fuel, as I raced around the ancient temple. The
pounding of my heart upon my chest like a v8 in a stock car, meant I was running at 110%. I
stared back at the temple was crumbling, I was almost to the window I could taste the humid
jungle air already.I could feel my legs burning, my feet losing sensation and my lungs gasping
for air. Finally, with the last of my energy I push off of the ledge and plummeted towards fate, as
my life rested in God s hands as I fell 150ft into the abyss. I could bring these tall tales to college,
but I rather talk about my personal adventure. The story of my adventure to Paristo experience the
rich French culture. To explore the Spanish culture while I was in Spanish immersion. I may not
be an explorer of ancient ruins, however I still explore different cultures, as well as explored
unique opportunities that expanded my knowledge and skills, all this has added up to unique
attributes I hold, and are willing to share. Traveling around the world may be a dream for some,
but for me I rather explore the world. I ve been to many tourist spots, it a devastating sight to see
so many people take a photo, stare at whatever it is and then leave. They never stay and learn about
the cultureand history of that spot. I m so grateful that I was a part of the Spanish immersion
program of my school. I was able to learn so much, and I gained a greater view of the world.

  • 2. Who Was Responsible For Eden s Death Essay When Eden returned from his leave in mid December 1956 to resume his political duties, it was to oversee the final withdrawal of British troops from Egypt. Although by the middle of January 1957, it became apparent that his ill health would require that he step down as Prime Minister. On 9 January 1957, Eden resigned stating I do not feel that it is right for me to continue in the office as the Queen s First Minister knowing that I shall be unable to do my full duty by my Sovereign and country. Was Eden s poor health an issue with regards to his mental acuity during the Suez Crisis? It didn t seem to affect Eisenhower, who had had a heart attack, or Dulles who suffered from cancer. Not to mention that Eden lived another twenty years before passing away. At the time of Eden s death in 1977, an obituary appeared in The Times, Eden was the last Prime Minister to believe Britain was a great power and the first to confront a crisis which proved she was not. Guy Millard, Eden s Private Secretary while he was Prime Minister, stated in a conversation thirty years after the Suez Crisis, it was his mistake of course and a tragic and... There was an issue between Iraq and Egypt, France and Algeria, Israel and Jordan. Although the United States was not involved initially, it did become a major player along with the United Nations. • 3. Growth Attenuation Therapy Ethical Issues In 2006, Growth Attenuation Therapy, the administering of high doses of estrogen to severely disabled children in order to stunt their growth, was introduced. It is of ethical concern because neither the medical community nor the parents, know all of the implications and ramifications and yet, this treatment continues to be in practice. The issue resurfaced last summer when a study by the Pediatric Endocrine Society resulted in an article published March 22nd 2016 in the New York Times, which indicated that a noteworthy population was receiving this treatment. The ethical issue lies in the doctors and parents not necessarily being informed voters . For example, one of the doctors, listed as treating a patient, had never before actually administered... It is imperative that there be an open discussion overtly identifying the issues and discussing them without prejudice (Johnson 2012 p. 265) Under specific circumstances, families may have the right to use medical advances to improve their overall quality of life however, this slippery slope must be controlled by the leaders in the medical community. Doctors and committee members need to be aware of both sides of each issue and combine the priorities they have as medical professionals, with the related socio political priorities. Additionally, doctors should have experience administering and monitoring such treatment prior to accepting patients for Growth Attenuation Treatment. FDA regulations and guidelines, for use of estrogen, would need to be established and an oversight committee would be formed to ensure the process remains ethically sound. In order to act as an exemplary follower, you ll need to practice exercising, independent, critical thought and by becoming actively engaged in organizational affairs. (Johnson, 2012 p. 293) Furthermore, the medical professionals would need to publicly declare that caution should be exercised regarding the treatment s use, due to a lack of existing data. This would alert the public to the importance of their being educated consumers and it might help to better align the expectations of all involved, with the range of possible outcomes. • 4. Language Development in Children Essay Language Development in Children Language is a multifaceted instrument used to communicate an unbelievable number of different things. Primary categories are information, direction, emotion, and ceremony. While information and direction define cognitive meaning, emotion language expresses emotional meaning. Ceremonial languageis mostly engaged with emotions but at some level information and direction collection may be used to define a deeper meaning and purpose. There is perhaps nothing more amazing than the surfacing of language in children. Children go through a number of different stages as language develops. They have the ability to sense and respond to their environment quite well. Patricia Kuhl, codirector of the University of Washington Institute for learning and Brain Sciences Seattle, Washington states, The brain of the baby is a new frontier. Newborns begin to develop communication skills by crying to express their wants and needs to their caregivers. There are pain or discomfort cries, anger cries, and hunger cries to define how the baby is feeling. According to Crain and Dunn (2010), The development production begins with undifferentiated cries at birth, which soon adapts so they convey different meanings to their caregivers (p. 112). Babies begin to learn language skills pretty quickly by listening and interacting with their caregivers. The baby s brain is really flexible, they can not say much but they are learning a lot. says Rebecca Gomex, an experimental psychologist at the University of Arizona, Tucson (Sohn, (2008). A baby will begin their language journey by using their tongue, lips, palate, and, teeth to make sounds. By twelve weeks infants begin to coo, and smile when talked to. Infants can distinguish between similar sounds such as b, p, d, and t. Infants at this age can tell the difference between children and adult speech sounds/tones. According to Crain and Dunn (2010), Although babies usually do not begin using words until near the end of their first year, they are nonetheless acquiring a knowledge of language during ... • 6. Critical Analysis Of Leonard Bernstein s The Age Of Anxiety The opening night of the Atlanta symphony orchestra had high expectations for the music we were about to experience. The night commenced with a work of art by Leonard Bernstein The Age of Anxiety, conducted by music director Robert Spano. A meaningful piece written original to describe a lengthy heartfelt poem that took place during World War II. The transition between courses was a unique jazzy upbeat style of the Star Spangled Banner whereas to begin the night it was a traditional legato style. The audience awaited to feel the recent material from composer Michael Kurth. Expecting to witness nothing less than sensory images from what inspired Michael Kurth to write such a delicate piece. As the night continued the large audience grew greater admiration for the conductors and the orchestraitself. The musician s capability to perform lengthy pieces of musicwas also a part of the astonishing experience. To conclude a night of emotion the concerts final performance was a piece by George Gershwin, An American in Paris A piece heavily influenced by modern time music that expresses freeway. The concert had an overall reconstruction of American identity theme integrated within each selected piece. Bernstein and Kurth were two of the talented and gifted composers of the night. • 7. The Importance Of Columbus Day On America In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue. This mnemonic is known by most American adults and taught to children in some schools. However, this rhyme holds a belief in it that is not true. When children are taught that Columbus set sail in 1492, they are also taught that when he did so he discovered America. This is truly and utterly false. If Columbus Day is no longer named as such, the Native Americans will be celebrated and a minority group will be represented rather than a murder. By seeing that Columbus did not discover America, Columbus was a murder, and the holiday Celebrated based on a common misconception, Columbus Day can become a more enjoyable holiday for everyone. Many children and adults believe still believe that Columbus discovered America. Contrary to common belief, Columbus did not discover America and he never set out to prove the world was round. In Columbus s time, the fact that the earth was round was common knowledge. However, Columbus believed that the diameter of the earth was extremely small even though scientist had already proven otherwise (Blakemore). In 1942, Columbus sailed the ocean blue to prove that he could cross the Atlantic by boat in only four days (Blakemore). Of course, the King and Queen repeatedly rejected Columbus s requests for resources to sail until they were desperate enough and needed more resources. Ultimately, Columbus s famous discovery only happened because the Queen was desperate. Nevertheless, the Queen and King s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Aboriginal And Torres Strait Islander Health Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health The permanent impact of colonisation still has an indisputable connection with the current health status of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) people. Poverty and powerlessness are social disadvantages amongst ATSI people which are related to dispossession, reflected through measures of education, employment, income and incarceration. Before 1788, indigenous Australians did not suffer from diseases such as cardiovascular disease, smallpox, measles or influenza. All of this changed with the arrival of the First Fleet, this epidemic affected the fabric of ATSI societies through depopulation and social disruption. These issues continuously impact the health outcomes and prospects for ATSI... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The average ATSI person s disposable income is only 70% of the average non Indigenous Australians. This gap is even wider in rural, remote parts of Australia; for example, in Cape York the estimated weekly income for a ATSI person was $394 in comparison to a non Indigenous Australians weekly disposable income of $896. Living in remote areas makes this even more of a struggle as there are fewer employment opportunities, higher costs of goods and services, poor education and poor infrastructure. Therefore, if ATSI people living in remote areas are already living on a tight budget this makes it extremely difficult for them to afford suitable healthcare. To overcome this issue, costs would have to be either kept very low or have complete government funding to avoid a lack of expression of interest. • 10. Analysis Of Champion Of The World By Maya Angelou Symbolism and Change in Sports Throughout the years, sports have become a major part of society. Sports, a large percentage of the time, are a part of peoples lives in one way or another. Whether they participate in them or just enjoy watching them, sports are a big deal to the majority of people. There are also some individuals who have redefined the expectations when it comes to certain sports. For instance, Babe Ruth redefined the way people think about baseball, or Michael Jordan completely changing the game of basketball. But Joe Louis and Venus and Serena Williams have changed their games in a way no one could have imagined. Although Champion of the World by Maya Angelou and Woman Who Hit Very Hard and How They ve Changed Tennis by Michael Kimmelman are different, they are similar in the ways they show how the respected athletes, Joe Louis and the Williams sisters, changed the game and were seen using symbolism in racial and sexual progression. In Champion of the World Maya Angelou writes about Joe Louis road to success in how he changed boxing for his race. Angelou writes, This might be the end of the world. If Joe lost we were back in slavery and beyond help. It would all be true; the accusations that we were lower types of human beings. Only a little higher than apes. Although the architectural design and surrounding did not attest to much artistic creativity, the actual concert was better than my expectations. The ensemble, a collaborative outcome from MSU Denver and other dance/cultural musicgroups from denver, was actually a mix of African and Indian/East Asian music and dance. The Socratic Citizen Plato s Socrates is a character plagued and prized with contradictions. He was wrongfully convicted, yet unwilling to avoid his unjust execution. Socrates claims to be a selfless benefactor of the polis in that he had exhausted his private resources in the pursuit of the public good (23b c, 30a, 31a c). Because he does what is good for his fellow citizens for whom he feels regard despite the danger to which this exposes him, Socrates claims to be a benefactor of the Athenians. He refers with pride to his record of military service and underlines that it was service to the democracy: When the commanders that you elected to command me stationed me at Potidaea and Amphipolis and Delion, I remained there like anyone else, and ran the risk of death (28e). He is an honorable citizen who disregards death and preaches that The difficulty, my friends, is not to avoid death, but to avoid unrighteousness; for that runs faster than death. He has demonstrated that he is, by his own right, a patriotic citizen who cares deeply about the good of his polis and one who consistently acts in what he sees as his city s best interests; but he has also shown also that, in light of his own definition of patriotism, Socrates must be regarded as a uniquely patriotic Athenian. A popular measure for utility, under the welfarist economics utilitarian view, is utilizing the price a person is willing to pay for a good or service as the value aggregated in the cost benefit analysis. • 17. A Comparison Of Ancient Greek And Roman Civilization Throughout History many civilizations have rose and fallen but we will be analyzing Greek and Roman Civilization. Many people view the Romans as a copy cat empire compared to the Greek because they modeled so many things after the Greeks, for myself, it would be correct to assume this were true. At first during the colonial age or era, Romans and Greek heavily influenced one another which one had engaged in trade at the Black Sea the surrounding Mediterranean areas. Trading between the two nations was very successful due to the safety of Roman Military presence. Over time, the Romans had adapted many of the Greeks practices and believes. This is one of the main reasons that Roman could be seen as a copy cat of Ancient Greece. Ancient Greece and Rome both had used agriculture. However, Rome did not have much problems with production of food through agriculture like the Greeks did. Both of them had produced products like wheat, but the former, Greece, had failed to produce a good amount of wheat because Romans had far superior farming techniques. Instead of having a good production of wheat, the Greeks had substituted wheat for olive oil hence why many people think of olive oil coming from Greece. Both nations had heavily relied on slaves as well. They were called the Puritans, but shaped American history. John Winthrop led the expedition that bring this religion across the sea with good and pure examples. Puritan ideas and beliefs affected the political reign as well as the economy, not to mention the entire society. Their religious ideals would shape almost everything about the community, as well as country. The church was a mandatory attendance in Puritan communities. While not all attendees were full members, things such as how the town would run and voting were decided by the church. For the Puritans, religious and political life were completely intertwined. (Puritans in America, Study, 2017) The Puritans believed that God had a unique covenant with them, and that they were expected to live by the beliefs of the scriptures. Just as other religious beliefs, such as the Amish, they had no tolerance for drinking, sex without procreating. Many were often left in fear of what their ultimate fate was after death, whether eternal salvation or damnation. Because of their mandatory expectations, early migrants of the Massachusetts Bay colonies were full members of the Puritan churches. The church was very strict in their beliefs, and in their influence in the colonies. This fear and worship would be prevalent in most American religious, as well as their study and sacrifice. • 19. Axeon Case Study Essay In my point of view, the problem from this case is whether Axeon NV pursue constructing the new manufacturing plant in the UK or manufacture the product (AR 42) in its existing plant in Netherland. This problem arises from the the proposal from UK Subsidiary (Hollandsworth) that become a matter of controversy as its projected profitability is questioned by managementat Axeon s headquarter. I analyze that there are three issues from this case: (1). Moreover, I think there are benefits and drawbacks whether building the new plant in the UK or maximize the capacity of Dutch s plant in producing additional product. Building new plant in the UK is a way to finance and support of the UK board members, it will open new jobs and a greater image of the company in England and this product will be still profitable after 7 years. On the other hand, manufacturing the product in Netherland would be more profitable and less investment since Axeon does not need to take a bank loan, a longer production runs, a lower set up costs and a larger raw material, also market penetration still possible in the Netherland. However, there is a possibility that Hollandsworth s manager enthusiasm and initiative are bound to suffer since Ian (the manager) felt that he has less autonomy than before. • 20. Visual Pleasure And Narrative Cinema From an issue that was discussed in class, we discussed about the gaze. In Laura Mulvey s Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema she discusses about scopophilia, which is the pleasure in looking which also incorporates exhibitionism (pleasure in being looked at). This term also applies to cinema. She focuses on the idea of the male gazein cinema, where films are created in favor of the male audience. Thus the action of cinema compromises of women as image, man are bearer of the look . Mulveys states that women in the film industry are catogarized on two levels, where woman are seen as erotic objects for the characters within the film and also erotic objects for the spectators of the film. She then moves on to criticize famed director Alfred Hitchcocks film Rear Windowfor how he portrayed woman in the film. Alfred Hitchcock s movie correlates to Mulvey s ideas which support her theories of scopophilia and voyeurism in cinema, she believed that the film exploits the male gaze and how it antagonises woman in an anti feminism manner. In the film, the main actor is restricted in his apartment due to his broken leg from his latest assigned project. He spends most of his time watching his neighbours from his window and later comes to suspect one of his neighbour murdering his bed ridden wife when we suddenly disappears from sight. These actions would be considered legal if Harriet, Lizzie, Eliza, and Dred Scott were his slaves. Dred Scott wanted to challenge this. Due to the Missouri Compromise, Illinois and the territory where Dr. Emerson had taken Dred Scott and purchased Harriet, were free (Independence Hall Association 2013). Dred Scott sued his owner, John Sandford, for assaulting himself, and his family. Scott openly admitted he was born a slave and of African descent, but he also argued that once his owner took him and his family to a free state and territory to exist in, his family became free from slavery. And since they were free when Sandford moved them back to Missouri, Scott claimed it was illegal for Sandford to assault him and his family. Although Billing and Sherman (1998) agreed that spices help to maintain palatability of food besides enhancing its flavour, but Flaxman and Sherman (2000) suggested that too much of spices may be harmful as well. For example, ingestion of large amounts of capsaicin causes high toxicity in blood; this is even worse in pregnant women as their toxin tolerance thresholds are lowered (Flaxman Sherman, 2000). So, certain spices could cause NVP when they are consumed in large amounts. Also, excessive amounts of caffeine causes spontaneous abortions (Weathersbee, Olsen and Lodge, 1977) and through NVP, pregnant women will tend to reduce intake of caffeine. Food aversions cause reduced nutrient intake in pregnant women as they experience weight loss during their first trimester (Tierson, Olsen and Hook, 1986). Although this may protect the embryos, it may increase cardiovascular and behavioural diseases when they are grown up (Watkins et al. 2008). This acknowledges both the (language) barrier between them, and the harsh interactions they have before they warm up to each other. After their relationship improves, Gerald brings the toad to her again, and Grandmother s reaction is directly opposite to what it was the first time. Hola, senor sangre de ojos (page 5). Far from showing outrage or fear, Grandmother makes a joke. This interaction is much softer both to the toad and in response to Gerald than the one before. Though Grandmother still speaks in spanish, Gerald understands her. This is symbolic of the fact that despite the grandmother not changing her root personality, Gerald still comes to know her better, just like he does with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 39. Essay on Flowers For Algernon by Daniel Keyes Society has become a shallow place. If an individual does not fit into societies form of the normal person then they are treated differently. But does society treat those who are different in a negative or positive way? In the novel Flowers for Algernon, the author Daniel Keyes shows an in depth look at the treatment of individuals in today s society. Firstly society tends to discriminate against those whose IQ does not fit into the norms of our society. The physically handicapped in today s world are not considered to be equal as those who fit into the normal physical appearance, Keyes portrays this through Charlie s thoughts while in the cafГ©. (Keyes 172) Charlie s relationship with Alice also shows how whether he is of extreme low extreme high intellect he still cannot communicate with her the way he needs to. I m just as far away from Alice with an I.Q of 185 then when I had an IQ of 70 (Keyes 88). In today s society if a persons thoughts slightly differ from those of the majority of the population then they will be scrutinized and shunned from the others. People are not willing to look at an idea through a different perspective and this is shown in Flowers For Algernon, when Charlie discovers the fault in Dr. Nemur s experiment and confronts him about it, Dr. Nemur treats him like the old Charlie who is to mentally challenged to be correct. It is repeated numerous times during the novel that Charlie was created by the experiment and was not a human being because of his below 100 IQ before the operation. • 40. Reflection Paper On My Writing Process Reflective Memo Description of my Writing Process In my writing process, pre writing was my initial step where I had to find the narrative to write. I had numerous stories in my mind, but I had to get the best, which draws inspiration to me, and the one that could teach valuable lessons to my audience. So, I had to refer from that childhood memory regarding the most significant narrative. However, I had to build up on the story. Therefore, I had to use the myth worksheet issued at class, to make sure that my story meets all the course requirements. Apparently, I had to make some changes (revise) the narrative, to deliver the most intended life lesson to my audience. That is when I decided to plan and structure on what to write down in particular. The actual writing was my second step, where I had to start writing my draft. However, I had several challenges at this phase, such as word count, grammar issues, among others. Apparently, I had to write several rough copies of my narrative. Again, I had to get the best time and location to eliminate any potential distractions. In fact, at this stage, I had no confidence with my narrative on whether it will convey a relevant meaning to my audience. But now the writing process was advancing well, and I started revising my paper. When revising my narrative, I had to adapt A.R.R.R.R approach where, I had to add some words, rearrange my paragraphs and sentences to consider flow, pacing, and sequencing of my story. Again, I had to remove the irrelevant parts, considering whether the reader will acquire the required message. Finally, replacing them with the relevant words and phrases. My final step was editing and proofreading. At this phase, I had to check for clarity, grammar, repetition, punctuation, and spelling. Editing and proofreading were detailed processes since they were the last step in my writing process. At this moment, I had gained confidence in my paper, since I had read it several times, affirming that it made some sense. Furthermore, I gave it to my friend who is a professional to proofread, and he assured me that the paper was sensible. Revising the Narrative Apparently, I had to review my story to convey the message swiftly. In the initial story, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Higher Taxa Report Written largely for the graduate student of paleontology, The Origin of Higher Taxa by Tom Kemp (emeritus university lecturer in palaeontology at the University of Oxford, and specialist on therapsids [also known as mammal like reptiles] and mammal origins), explores the problem of higher taxa, and the mechanism, his theory of correlated progression, by which they evolve. The book consists of nine chapters, roughly broken up into: introduction to the subject and the nature of higher taxa and organisms, the paleontological (evolutionary change) and developmental evidence, and the fossil record and synthesis. This is also true of the early chapters of the fields of developmental and ecological perspectives and of the regulatory gene networks where classic studies draw attention to early theories while the newer works and reports incorporate the latest ideas. The current literature in just one of these fields is vast so Kemp has done a reasonable task of summarizing the more salient points. In his efforts, Kemp emphasizes that I have tried to show that of the cases of the origin of taxa that we know something about, especially from the fossil record all are compatible with and can be explained by these processes, (p. 178). They gained popularity during and after the civil rights movement due to the influence African Americans were having on society. The movie Coffy, directed by Jack Hill and release in 1973, is a great example of how Blaxploitation movies reinforced the stereotypes that already exist about black men and women. Young African Americanfilmmakers, made lots of these types of movies in order to appeal to the young African American crowd. In the article Baadasss Gangstas: The Parallel Influences, Characteristics and Criticisms of the Blaxploitation Cinema and Gangsta Rap , by Dustin Engels, it says, African American artists began using their mediums to appeal directly to black audiences in an attempt to spawn cultural movements that would display and bring to the forefront the cultural, social and economic struggles of the African American experience. The African American that was originally making these films had a positive purpose and wanted to spread social consciousness in the best way they could. Even though these types of movies gave great opportunities to black actors and actresses, I believe that these films do more harm than good. I will then take those answers and compare then to out culture here in America. I realize that some might argue that using North American culture as a starting point is an attempt to simplify this writing, but I believe that any initial examination of something new is most effectively done in comparison to what one already knows. In Vietnam, independence is far from desirable, much less respected. Family connections are so powerful that it is not unheard of for as many as three generations to live in the same household (often the direct result of grown children s desire to do whatever necessary to care for their aging parents). Someone s success or failure is never seen as theirs alone, but is directly credible to the family. If one wished to insult a Vietnamese person, one could simply refer to the Vietnamese person as ill bred ...thereby damaging the individual and the family equally. Family connections are so strong in fact, that a hard life is often viewed as the result of improper behavior committed by ones ancestors (Wubker 2008). In direct contrast to the Vietnamese, the familial bonds within American families are much weaker. Familial closeness is mostly reserved for the nuclear family (husband, wife, and their respective children). Most Americans would certainly scoff at the idea of housing multiple generations within the same home. In fact, many couples make a conscious effort following marriage to avoid living too close to the parents of either party. Appellant Boyd complained that she was denied her constitutional right to testify. The right to testify comes from many amendments and clauses in the constitution such as the due process clauses, the Fifth, and Fourteenth amendment. The court held that the search for and seizure of evidence within an accused s possession might well result in compelling the accused to be a witness against himself. What Are Panic Disorders With Agoraphobia Panic Disorders with Agoraphobia By Jennifer Allen Abnormal Psychology Dr. Kuhnert Columbia College Abstract Panic Disorder with Agoraphobia Panic disorder and agoraphobia are two separate disorders that often go hand in hand with each other. An individual can be diagnosed with panic disorder, but a diagnosis without agoraphobia can often take place as well. Some individuals develop symptoms of agoraphobia, but do not have the classic panic disorder symptoms, hence the reason they are both listed as separate disorders in the DSM 5. Panic disorder can be identified as recurrent unexpected panic attacks. A panic attack is an abrupt surge of intense fear or intense discomfort that reaches a peak within minutes, and during which time four or more physical and cognitive characteristics take place (Hooley, J. 2017, pg.188). When dealing with panic disorder it can often become debilitating, due to the fact that the individual does not know when the onset of an attack will occur.
