1.0 Introduction
Motor learning, particularly in the early stages of learning a skill, involves attempts by learners to
acquire an idea of the movement, (Gentile, 1972) or understand the basic pattern of coordination
(Newell, 1985). To achieve these goals, learners must acknowledge; the way their muscles work
together, the subroutines of a skill, their individual practical learning process, and the way the human
brain processes information. Basketball is a team ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Image 4 further shows how I ve thrown the ball to the hoop using two hands instead of one. My
weight continues to be back, and I m further unbalanced as I land with two feet pressed together. The
outcome of my lay up can be seen in image 5 as the ball travels over the top of the backboard instead
of rebounding off the top corner of the square, into the hoop. The outcome of my lay up is reflective of
my inability to perform each subroutine effectively and without error, resulting in the performance of
a Cognitive stage learner.
3.0 Information Processing Theory
There are many different models that define the Information Processing Theory, all of which describe
how we think critically. Welford s model (Welford, 1968) suggests that we take in information through
our senses and temporarily store all of these inputs prior to sorting them out. (Figure 1) A decision is
made by comparing the information in the short term memory with previous experiences stored in the
long term memory. The first stage in the information processing model is called stimulus identification
(see figure 1). The person starts off by detecting the stimulus, such as seeing the basketball approach
them from a chest pass. The next stage is the initiation of their response. The action of catching the
ball and deciding what to do from their current position comes into play in this section of the model. If
the action of a lay up is chosen, they will then complete the movement and organise the

Research Paper On Abigail Language
Abigail was referred for a speech/language re evaluation to determine current strengths, needs, level
of functioning and special education eligibility and programming.
II. BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Abby was born in New Hampshire but grew up in Honduras. The family moved to Arizona
approximately 6 1/2 years ago. Mrs. Cardenas revealed that she was ill during the first trimester of her
pregnancy; resulting in a sixteen pound weight loss. The remainder of the pregnancy and Abby s
delivery were unremarkable, with Abby weighing six pounds, six ounces at birth. Mrs. Cardenas
reports Abby s medical history to be unremarkable. Developmental milestones were within normal
expectancies, speaking at just about two years of age. There is not a history of ... Show more content

The length and complexity of her responses were age appropriate, and she demonstrated correct
grammar and syntax forms during her conversational exchanges with this examiner.
Pragmatics
Pragmatics is the area of language function that embraces the use of language in social contexts
(knowing what to say, how to say it, and when to say it and how to be with other people). Children
with pragmatic difficulties have great trouble using language socially in ways that are appropriate or
typical of children of their age. Abigail did not demonstrate any difficulty staying on topic or with turn
taking. Her responses were appropriate and relevant with this examiner. She maintained eye contact
during her interchanges with this examiner.

Explain The Three Different Levels Of Mummification
The three different levels of mummification were using a crooked iron tool, syringes with the oil, and
purge. During the level on which will be the crooked iron tool, the procedure was to drawn out the
brain through the nostrils, extracting it partly thus and partly by pouring in drugs; after this with a
sharp stone of Ethiopia they make a cut along the side and take out the whole contents of the belly,
and when they cleared out the cavity and cleansed it with palm wine they cleanse it again with spices
pounded up; then they fill the belly with pure myrrh pounded up and with cassia and other spices
except frankincense, and set it together again (Herodotus). After seventy days they wash the body,
then they wrap the corpse with fine linen.

The Arab Civil War And The Destruction Of Ancient Objects...
Since the early twenty first century and even before, museums in the Middle East have had to learn to
cope with conflict. Syria is the best example of a country with many cultural heritage sites and
museums that are in danger due to conflict. The onset of the Syrian Civil War and the destruction of
ancient objects and cultural heritage sites by ISIS have been the most recent manifestation of this. As a
result of the Syrian Civil War and ISIS takeover, sites like Palmyra and the Aleppo historic city center
have been heavily damaged ( The Race to Save Syria s Archaeological Treasures. 2016). Palmyra has
stood for thousands of years, as prominent commercial site in ancient times and as a symbol Syrian
cultural identity in recent times. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
ISIS s motivations revolve around looting and smuggling of ancient artifacts for funding (al Frieh
2016), religious cleansing for the restoration of true Islam, a chance to make news headlines
worldwide to spread fear and intimidation of local populations (Swicord 2016). The dangers of war
have driven away many people who could protect these cultural heritage sites and the objects within
them, and now they are helpless in the face of destruction in conflict and being smuggled for profit.
Palmyra was a victim of this when ISIS captured the city in May of 2015 and controlled it for about
one year. The city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with remains nearly 2000 years old ( ISIL
captures strategic Syrian city of Palmyra. 2015). During its occupation, the city faced several kinds of
destruction at the hands of its captors. The city had already been damaged from the fighting and
shelling that resulted in its capture. The city s Temple of Ba al was severely damaged by mortar fire.
ISIS also carried out many deliberate acts of violence against the objects and architecture. In the
months following their victory, ISIS militants destroyed the Temple of Ba al s primary building and
other structures, like the nearby Temple of Baalshamin and the decorative arches built by the Romans
in the second century CE. They destroyed and defaced these larger like architecture and sculptures

Fahrenheit 451 Unit 9 Final Project
The mid August heat is blazing as crews break down the temporary stage from last night s concert.
The stage was set in what looks to be almost a half mile long and football field wide dry river bed. I
can see the appeal of placing a stage here with the Aventine and Palatine Hills on each side to
accommodate hundreds of thousands of spectators who would be able to see the stage. Once the stage
is broken down this prime real estate in the middle of Rome, Italy will serve as a large park, but it was
not always this way, the same reasons this park is used for concerts today is why the Circus Maximus
was constructed here in the Valley of Murcia, Rome. The Circus Maximus began with the Valley of
Murcia being used much as it is today. A small stream which ran off the Tiber river would dry enough
to race around the banks. The natural rise of the land on the sides of the valley allowed spectators to
sit. It was not until King Romulus created the first raised wooden seating that the Circus Maximus as
we picture it was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Next stone track side seating for politicians was added. Julius Caesar extended the wooden seating to
encompass almost the entire track. This is when the first version of the Circus Maximus, as we picture
it, was completed. Throughout the five centuries it took to develop the Circus to this point, fire and rot
were its biggest opposition requiring constant reconstruction. It is believed that the threat of fire
caused Emperor Trajan to rebuild the Circus in the newly discovered concrete, marble, stone, and only
the top section in wood. It was he who had the spina built connecting the two metae to represent the
broken spine of the enemies of Rome with the obelisk placed by Emperor Augustus as the center
piece. This was the final version of the Circus Maximus and was left generally

Genetic Engineering And The Canadian Regulation
Biotechnology is the application of scientific techniques and exploitation of biological processes used
to improve and modify animals, plants and microorganisms to enhance their value through genetic
manipulation. Over time, advances in the field of molecular biology has allowed scientists to take a
particular gene from any organism, including, bacteria, viruses, plants or animals, and introduce those
genes into another organism. An organism transformed using genetic engineering techniques is known
as transgenic organism (Independent learning center, 2012). This paper discusses the positive and
negative effects of genetically engineered organisms in agricultural applications and the Canadian
regulation or legislation that relates to this issue.
Many farmers in Canada have welcomed major crop plants produced by genetic engineering. Four
major transgenic crops including canola, corn, soy and sugar beet have been approved for commercial
production in Canada (Canada Agency, 2015). Transgenic organisms offer a range of benefits in the
agricultural applications. Over many years, transgenic organisms have helped increase crop
productivity by introducing drought tolerance and disease resistance to crops. Today, scientist has
been able to select genes for disease resistant from other organism and relocate them to essential
crops. For example, in the 1980, researchers from University of Hawaii teamed up with Cornell
University to develop a papaya cultivar resistant to papaya

Technology In War Research Paper
Technology at times have been referred to as inventions which create values for human beings and
help them in living a better lifestyle, but no one would have ever thought technology would have even
played an important role in war. The way wars are conducted have changed leaps and bounds from
early 1800s to modern days. Industrial revolution and technologies have transformed how the warfare
is conducted. Although technology might have helped opponents of the war to showcase their
strengths during warfare and win wars, however certain reforms used in warfare had its effects
(positive or negative) on the civilian citizens too.
Since start of midcentury, industrial revolution had started shaping the warfare. The technological
advancements ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was felt that it is important that manufacturing science should consider equipping the soldiers with
guns which could make a bigger impact for the enemies. The armies have come a long way since they
fought with spears, bows and arrows. Undoubtedly, the greatest technological reform came in the field
artillery. (WORLD HISTORY OF WARFARE Archer, Christon I., 1940 ; Ferris, John Robert, 1956 ;
Herwig, Holger H.; Travers, Timothy., c2002. Armed forces are one of biggest resource used in
warfare and weapons are their tools provided, to help maneuver them in the fields. These weapons are
designed to make maximum impact on enemies in terms of harm or kill or making them disabled, so
that infantry soldiers can make inroads to enemy s territory. Technological advancement in weapons is
just not only attributed to change in physical form of weapon, but there is lot of physics, chemistry,
mechanics are involved in development of weapons. Previously, guns had been cast in individual
molds and hence been much too heavy to drag across battlefields. Starting in eighteen century and
until World War 1 various types of artillery guns were developed and used in war, however each one
of these had their limitations. For example, prior to World War 1, Gatling gun was the most popular
automatic rapid fire weapon, however it was quite heavy which limited its use in warfare. Later
British developed Vickers gun, however it required six man team to operate his gun. Subsequently
Americans invented Lewis gun, an automatic machine gun. This gun was gas powered and just
weighted 28lbs. It could fire 500 600 rounds per minute with maximum muzzle velocity of 2,440 feet
per seconds. The machine gun was an effective addition to arsenals during this time of

My Grandmother Paragraph
My grandmother name is Maria Jimenez and she is the mother of my father who was born on January
10, 1948. My grandmother was born in Puebla, Mexico in a small farm with her mother and father.
She was raised on a farm and had farm life duties as a child. She attended elementary school and
culminated still completing with her farm duties such as feeding the animals, picking up the crops,
watering the plants every morning, watching over the animals, and many other duties. My
grandmother and her parents were less fortunate than others and had to work harder. As a young girl,
her parents always talked to her about being someone is life and that she should go to school to seek a
better life opportunity but as farmers her parents were not able to afford her studies. They would sell
their crops in the market of the town. Maria attended middle school and always got the highest grade
in her class, she graduated with her classmates with good grades but could not attend high school
because her parents could not afford it. She worked for super markets, a farm worker and maid. She
later met my grandpa in the farm she was working in, the farm was in Mexico, puebla. Maria parents
were very religious, they were strict Catholics and tried to teach their children the bible. My grandpa
asked her to marry him at the age of 16 and he was 17. My grandmother s parents agreed to the
marriage because at those times people were getting married at such a young age. They got married

Alex In A Clockwork Orange
In Depth Character Analysis on Alex Besides the protagonist in A Clockwork Orange, who is Alex?
Many times we only look at main characters with an outsiders perspective. The characteristics of a
character are important, but the main characters are often made to be so much more in the inside by
the author. Most simply, from an outward perspective, who is Alex? What shaped Alex to be violent?
How might have other characters influenced him to be the leader of a gang? Where did Alex s actions
leave him and did Alex understand that where he was left was avoidable? And finally, in his actions,
good and bad, was there personal growth? These are all questions to explore while diving in to who
Alex is from the inside.
Most simply, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alex is eventually shown, although the hard way, that violence (and overall, evil) is not the way one
can live their life forever. After getting away with countless crimes, two of his droogs set him up. Alex
is rightfully taken into the hands of the police officers and put in prison for the killing of an innocent
woman. In this prison he is the first to be chosen and tested on with the Ludovico Technique, a
correctional technique for criminals. This technique was a two week process of torture. Insuring that
Alex couldn t move his body to interfere with the technique, two scientists had Alex put in a straight
jacket and strapped down with his eyes held open by metal clamps. The scientists gave him nausea
inducing liquid and would then play movies in front of him of crimes he had committed in the past,
beating men and women profusely and raping women. This technique was thought to retrain and
reform the criminal s brain. However, one of the more horrific movies was accompanied by classical
music, the only nonviolent enjoyment Alex ever connected to. QUOTE From then on Alex gagged at
the attempt to raise his fist to another person in the same way that he gagged at the sound of classical
music. The doctors though, deemed his treatment to be successful and sent him out into the world a
reformed man . Alex s violence resulted in treatment that then resulted to him not being able to

Supervisor-Subordinate Relationships
Albdour and Altarawneh (2014) state that further research is needed to collaborate and to understand
the existing gap as to whether a quality relationship between the supervisor and the subordinate will
have an impact on organizational and employee performance. Researchers propose reasons as to
whether supervisors have struggles motivating their subordinate in the workplace. Supervisors can
only encourage what subordinates are inclined to do. However, a quality supervisor subordinate
relationship and many ways of communicating may be optimistic for the employee and increase
performance. There are advantages for a supervisor subordinate relationship, such as increased levels
of performance, job satisfaction, and employee retention (Allen, Ericksen, ... Show more content on

Furthermore, distinct differences are a vital issue for an organization is to engage in what actually
inspire their employees to perform. These workplace issues have been addressed within the same
issues such as multicultural dissimilarities between supervisor and subordinate. Ethnicity is a
familiarity, behavioral patterns, and cultural traditions that are shared by individuals of the same
ancestral background. Therefore, multicultural differences are alleged to be one of the key obstacles to
improve organizational and employee performance. These practices are highly effective for people in
the Western civilization. However, these practices can be proven to be have the opposite effect for
workers from the Asian population because of the immense multicultural background (Xerri, M.
2013). Current studies indicate that job satisfaction brings relevance to organizational responsibility
that affects employee commitment. Researchers determined that workplace experience is a direct
correlation to job satisfaction and commitment. It is believed that job satisfaction is an important
component in maintaining commitment. Commitment is an important factor in getting a person to stay
with their organization. Committed employees are more than likely to consent to organizational goals.
Employees who remain committed to the organizational objectives, are more likely

Mercury Vs Yttrium Research Paper
Have you ever considered how Mercury and Yttrium compare with one another? There are many ways
in which these two elements can be compared and contrasted. These elements from the Periodic Table
of Elements differ in size, one more than twice that of the other, however they also share many
physical similarities. Their locations on the periodic table also contrast one another. One difference
between Yttrium and Mercury is their atomic numbers and atomic masses. The element Yttrium has an
atomic number of 39, therefore it contains 39 protons and 39 electrons. It has an atomic mass of 88.91,
which is substantially smaller than Mercury s. Mercury has an atomic mass of 200.59, and an atomic
number of 80. This means that it has 80 protons and 80

Questions On The Quantification Of Light Absorption And...
Quantification of 〖Cr〗^(3+) and 〖Co〗^(2+)in a Mixture
Natalia Nole
Last updated: September 12, 2016
Purpose
Let s assume that we have two solutions, a clear and a colored one, whose concentrations and
identities are unknown. If we shine some light of some intensity towards them; some of this light will
go through and some of it will be absorbed. This is important because based on the amount of light
absorbed by the solutions we can calculate their concentrations. This important and simple principle is
known as Beer s Lambert law; which states that the absorbance is proportional to the product of the
path length, the molar absorptivity and the concentration of a solution. The product of molar
absorptivity times path length gives the value of K, which is the slope. (Equation below)
A = Ɛ.Ɩ. C
K = Ɛ.Ɩ.
A=K×C
Spectrophotometry is the quantitative measurement of light absorption and transmittance as a function
of a wavelength. The instrument used for spectrophotometry is called the spectrophotometer, and the
way it works is as follows. Let s say we have a source of light, which normally is a deuterium lamp.
The beam of light projected by the bulb will hit the diffraction gradient, which looks like a prism.
Diffraction gradient will adjust so that only a specific wavelength will make it through an exit slit that
eventually hits the sample, whose identity and concentration is unknown. Light absorbed and/or
transmitted by the sample will be sensed by the detector which will be

The Influence Of Humanism
Have you ever wondered why nowadays there are less less people going to church or even supporting
God? 500 years ago new ideas started to spread throughout europe, ideas that man doesn t need God.
This idea is called Humanism. In Humanism humans are more important than god. Humanist solve
problem in human ways instead of resourcing to a god. During the renaissance Humanism develop
and spread throughout europe. Some of the most known artist, writers, and even religious figures
influence humanism of the renaissance. Even though today you don t hear the word humanism a lot it
s still a major influence in today s society. So why did humanistic ideas become so popular? One of
the main reason is the renaissance. Humanism develop so much during the Renaissance because a lot

The Allentown museum stated the following about the Vitruvian Man; Man is the measure of all
things (Kintzer and Wetterlund). Since Humanism is about appreciating humans this clearly shows
humanism, what greater honor can you get than being in the middle of everything. Everything has a
size this shows how man instead of god is connected to everything physical in this world. Likewise
Tom Ashbrook, an award winning journalist, wrote this about the Vitruvian Man, symbol of man in
the universe, man as the universe (Tom Ashbrook). This is an obvious example of humanism since it
shows how man can be free of god, can be in the universe with only himself and other humans, and
even be the universe ourselves. Da Vinci s view on humanism was clearly implemented on his
paintings, not only this but they undoubtedly spread throughout Europe and later on the world, which

Risks And Risks Of Risk And Risk Policy
Risk is a very important concept in the field of environmental sociology. Risk is defined as a
compound measure of the probability and magnitude of some incident or adverse effect associated
with a hazard. It refers to the probability and magnitude of adverse effects of technology or other
hazards on human health. Hazard, in this context, refers to the dangers or threats that can produce
adverse effects.
Risk and risk policy in a domestic situation can be seen in the current risk policy system in the United
States. The major participants in it are the executive branch agencies, congress, laws and consulting
firms and many more. Risk and risk policy in a situation outside of the United States can be seen.

A lot of people may not know what risk evaluation is in an environmental setting. Risk evaluation is
defined as the process of determining the acceptability of identified risks to guide policy decision
making. In other words, you find out the seriousness of the risks and see what policies need to be put
in place to help prevent them. There are four methods for risk evaluation. The first method is risk
benefit cost analysis. The risk benefit cost analysis means that risks are adequate if the economic
benefits outweigh costs but difficult to determine certain costs such as health and environment costs.
Little is said about the unequal distribution of costs and benefits across groups and time. The second
method is revealed preferences. Revealed preferences is based on the hypothesis that risks tolerated
currently or in the past provide a basis for evaluating the acceptability of new risks. The third method
is expressed preferences. Expressed preferences is based on asking people what they favor. This
method can be a problem because people may be incorrectly informed, change their mind, and are
unable to make tradeoffs between risks, benefits, and costs. The fourth method is de minims risks. De
minims risks means that some risks are too minor to be concerned with. Risk management is defined
as the effort to avoid, reduce, control, or mitigate the risks deemed unacceptable. Uncertainties

The House
During the two years I lived in Charlottesville, Virginia, I passed by Monticello everyday on my way
from home to school; I finally went up there to visit right before I left the town. Weaving through the
giant plantation around it, the shuttle took us from the foot of the mountain to the hilltop, where the
house rested. The house was relatively small compared to the size of the field surrounding it. Through
several preservation and minor renovation, the floor we stepped on was still the original. I
remembered walking under the house and circling back through all the servants facilities. All the
dependencies were built into the side of the mountain in a U shape. (Figure 6 7) As for the main house
for Jefferson and his family, the plan of the house showed that several rooms, especially the parlor,
were hexagons, for maximizing daylight in the house, which followed the rounded world concept in
the Pantheon. Also related to this sense, the front of the house were never defined. As in Jefferson s
day, visitors today enter through the columned portico of the East Front into the Entrance Hall. West
entrance is more private use for family and guests. But despite the function of the two entrance, there
was no clear frontality or a single façade that dominated the house. Rounded world represented
Jefferson s vision of the world. Tracing back to his early life, he was well known as the third president
of America. Yet in his legendary life, he only put Author of the

The San Joaquin River is the backbone of the San Joaquin Valley. The valley is not only the nation s
most agricultural area but it is also one of the entire worlds. Millions depend on the crops that come
form this luscious valley. The river has gone through many drastic changes over its illustrious lifetime.
Once it was a magnificent 350 miles long it is now one of the nation s ten most endangered rivers. The

Friant Dam to flow into the river to bring back the former environment that was once there as well as

both have positive and negative consequences.
If the east side farmers have it there way they will continue to be able to produce crops and farming on
the east side will still be a possibility. The Friant Dam has been irrigating the east side of the valley
since 1944. Over 95% of all water collected at Millerton is used to help agriculture. It waters one
million acres of farmland and because of it in the last 40 years the farming on the east side has taken
over Southern California as the states leader in citrus farming, the value of this is 2.1 billion and it
continues to grow. Although the farmers would prosper the environment would still suffer and the
salmon run of yester year would still be an impossibility. The east side farmers argue that if there
water was taken away only about a quarter of the east side could be farmed without Millerton. Without
Millerton s water the farmers would have had to continue to pump their water from underground
aquifers and if that had happened those aquifers would have gone dry 60 years ago. If the

Persepolis The Veil Symbolism
Symbolism in Persepolis Symbols are seen in many places, on bathroom doors and in books and
novels. Wherever they are or whatever they are, all of these symbols mean something more beyond
the initial. The veil is one of the symbols in the book Persepolis that symbolizes the oppression of
women which means the constriction of personal Freedom that accompanies the Revolution. The veil
is a religious thing in today s days, Muslim ladies have to wear it every time they go outside the
house. Another symbol in the book Persepolis is the gold key and it symbolizes the power of the
government or the government s control. Another symbol in the book Persepolis is the cigarette and it
s what Marji use to feel as a grown up. There are a lot of symbols in the book Persepolis, of these
symbols are the veil in the way that it symbolizes a fashion statement, oppression, and the gold key in
the way that it symbolizes control of the government and the cigarette in the way that symbolizes the
grown up. The Veil is a symbol in the book Persepolis that symbolizes a fashion statement, like
wearing jeggings or a fedora. However, neither jeggings nor a fedora are closely tied with religious
fundamentalism. It is called in most countries a hijab, and its used for women to cover their hair and
its meant to be a protection for them. The Veil represents a symbol of oppression of women which
means the constriction of personal freedom that accompanies the revolution. It says in the book that
We didn t really like to wear the veil, especially since we didn t understand why we had to. It also
says, Then came 1980: the year it became obligatory to wear the veil at school. And it also says, We
found ourselves veiled and separated from our friends. What Is happening in this story is that the veil
is being forced to women to wear. In the first quote, they don t know why they were wearing the veil,
and they wanted to understand why. That means that they are forced to wear the veil everywhere. In
the second quote, they were forced to even wear the veil at school and mostly everywhere they go.
The veil was forced because they said it will be more as a protection for the girls. In the third quote,

built thanks to 8,000 donated by a local pastry chef. It is predicted that drawing up detailed
construction plans would cost a whopping 15 million. The town has a track record in failing to get
impressive building projects on the ground. In 1994, the council promised citizens an Olympic

modest size, with just three lanes. 22 years on from the original idea however, and the town is still

Popular Support In Julius Caesar Essay
Popular support and the distribution of power are two intertwining concepts that are prominent in
Nicolo Machiavelli s 16th century treatise, The Prince, and Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, of
the same era. While Machiavelli s treatise served to provide a practical guide to a reigning prince and
Shakespeare s play served to entertain an Elizabethan audience, both composers examine different
perspectives of popular support and the distribution of power.
The Prince similarly suggests that popular support is essential in achieving power, but prioritises the
importance of gaining support from the citizens over the support from nobles. Machiavelli critically
analyses the advantages and disadvantageous concerning monarchy and popular support ... Show more

Caesar s power is distributed amongst characters including Antony, Brutus and Octavian, and as such,
his own individual power is weakened, giving Brutus and the conspirators the opportunity to rebel
against him. Brutus power is conveyed in Cassius speech in Act 1 Scene 2, where he utilises rhetorical
questions including, Why would that name [Caesar] be sounded more than yours? and sarcasm by
referring Caesar as Immortal , to undermine Caesar s authority as a ruler. However, while Brutus and
the conspirators successfully murder Caesar, Antony and Octavian emerge as the victors at the Battle
at Philippi, suggesting that ultimately Caesar s spirit and rule lives in the noblemen who support him.
The recurring supernatural imagery of Caesar s spirit in both Brutus tent prior to the battle in Act 4
Scene 3 and on the battlefield conveyed by Brutus in Act 5 Scene 5, suggests that Caesar s spirit not
only metaphorically perpetuates but also literally appears in front of Brutus. The fact that the play is
named after him despite his death early in the play and not after Brutus, further enhances the idea that
the distribution of power from the leader to his noblemen allows the leader s rule to continue beyond

Relationship Between Ethics And Business Performance
Although the relationship between ethics and business performance is still the subject of controversy,
the Enron case is a demonstration that the lack of ethical behavior is inseparable from the competitive
disadvantage. The question is not so much whether the disaster could be avoided if the company had
adopted from the beginning, transparency criteria. The main thing to know as citizens, so far reputed
and honest, have managed to create an environment to bring their managers to take ethically
reprehensible and economically untenable positions.
Business ethical values vary by company, and are defined largely by the behaviors and values that
govern a business environment. In general, business ethical values are a set of guiding principles that
encourage individuals in an organization to make decisions based on the company s stated beliefs and
attitudes toward business practices within its industry. (1)
Enron was known for the cultivation of strict operations that expanded among its employees. Thus,
obtaining results became the main objective and standard of measurement within the company: what
mattered above all, were the results; everything else was secondary to this goal. Enron was an energy
company, considered a new business model. Its turnover was too big just before the financial scandal
that caused his bankruptcy in only 24 days.
The form of performance measurement has to be consistent with the long term business purposes.
Enron focused excessively on market value and

Why Racism Is Wrong
Almost everybody in the world agrees that racism is wrong, but do they know why it is wrong or are
they just agreeing with everybody else? I believe racism is wrong because God created us all equally.
Who are we to judge others? If people say racist remarks to others, they are basically saying it to God,
since He is in every one of us. We do not get to choose how we look, specifically our skin color, this is
the way we were born. No color is better than the other, and we are all equal in God s eyes. We should
get to know somebody first, because like the old saying goes, Don t judge a book by its cover.
There was definitely racism in the movie, Invictus, some examples more blatant than others. There
was definitely racism between the blacks and whites in the country. The white people were not happy
when Nelson Mandela was elected president. When Mandala gets his new body guards, we could see
the black people looking at them like they did not want them there, and the white body guards like
they also did not want to be there. We could see that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

how to play rugby. He also listened to what Mandela told him and took his advice, even though it was
coming from a black man. That showed that he did not care about race and would listen to knowledge
regardless of who it came from. There was the same situation when he invited their maid to come to
the final game. The last example of when he was a good and moral captain was when he stopped his
team from celebrating their win to say a prayer. Even though he was ecstatic that they won, he knew
that he could not have done it without God and wanted to make sure to thank

Factors Of HRM
Human Resource Management (HMR) is the deploying, recruiting and managing of employees within
an organization (SearchHRSoftware, 2017).
(1.1) Explain the factors that needs to be considered when planning the recruitment of individuals to
work at London Nursing Home
Recruitment is a method used for finding and hiring the most competent candidate for a job in a timely
and cost effective manner (CIPD, 2010). This process includes qualitative planning (the right
candidate) and quantitative planning (number of vacancies). London Nursing Home (LNH)
recruitment system was based on prejudice, lack of planning and favouritism that affected the standard
of care.
When planning the recruitment process London Nursing Home has to consider demand forecasting,
supply forecasting and forecast turnover. Demand forecasting should indicate the number of
employees needed with the right skills. Supply forecasting is getting applicants with the right expertise
while complying with the legal requirement. Forecast turnover is analysing the problem areas and
finding an immediate solution. (Compton et al, 2009)
HRM is made up of the so called classic trio stages: the pre selection, selection and post selection
stages (Armstrong, 2006). The pre selection commence with advertising the job via newspaper,
television or internet, job description and person

Graffiti And Street Art By Christine Graff
From the early humans who painted on cave walls to the angst ridden teenager getting their kicks from
spray painting profanities on the side of a small business, human beings seem to have an intrinsic
desire to paint images on the walls that surround them. This has led to many individuals painting on
walls without permission. Although the walls cannot speak, city officials and the owners of businesses
can and when they do, Graffiti is usually one of the words used to describe the images produced.
However, although often overlooked, a line does exist between graffiti and street art. Christine Graff
writes Graffiti is defined as writing or drawings scribbled, scratched, or sprayed illicitly on a wall or

Street art is a viable way to breathe life into suffering areas of a town. A prime example of this in
action is the Wynwood Walls project started by Tony Goldman, who saw the massive empty walls of
the warehouses in the Wynwood district of Miami, Florida as massive canvases. Goldman sought to
bring the best street artists from all over the world in order to not only revitalize a mostly dead district,
but also to legitimize street art, which he felt was minimalized and often looked down upon. The area
has now become an international tourist attraction, bringing in those who wish to see the massive
murals that populate the area (About Wynwood Walls).
Another urban rejuvenation project called the Heidelberg Project, founded in 1986 by Tyree Guyton,
has become a tourist attraction and a source of local pride.
Guyton returned to Heidelberg Street and was upset at the state of his childhood home. Drugs, racism
and violence had turned the once average neighborhood into a desolate ghetto. With encouragement
from his grandfather, Guyton decided that he would take action and attempt to turn the dying
neighborhood into a thriving community. Guyton, his grandfather and the neighborhood children
worked together to clean up the neighborhood and use the objects collected during the cleanup to turn
the neighborhood into a vibrant piece of art. The project, although destroyed multiple times,

Desert Biome Diary Essay
Diary of a Naturalist Dear Diary,
Today, I investigated the incredible desert biome. The two I m investigating are the hot and cold
biome. Both contain a devastating environment. It s a miracle that organisms are able to survive here.
In the hot desert, during the day, the heat is almost unbearable, but during the night, it dips down into
freezing temperatures. It usually never rains, but when it does, it rains in short bursts between rainless
periods. The reason for the temperatures fluctuating so often is due to the atmosphere not having
sufficient humidity. The sand there is course, shallow, and rocky with good drainage, but no
subsurface water. In the cold desert, there is a lot of rainfall throughout winter, and little throughout
summer. The winters are very cold, and it often will snow. The average snowfall ranges from 15 26
cm. There sand consists of pebbles and small rocks. It is also very salty. In order to survive in the
desert region, the plants and animals (flora and fauna) need to adapt to the environment. In the hot
deserts, prickly pears open their stomata of their leaves only at night where the evaporation rates are
the lowest. Cacti are able retain water. The Joshua tree has extremely ... Show more content on

To achieve these goals, learners must acknowledge; the way their muscles work together, the subroutines of a skill, their individual practical learning process, and the way the human brain processes information. My weight continues to be back, and I m further unbalanced as I land with two feet pressed together. The outcome of my lay up can be seen in image 5 as the ball travels over the top of the backboard instead of rebounding off the top corner of the square, into the hoop. The outcome of my lay up is reflective of my inability to perform each subroutine effectively and without error, resulting in the performance of a Cognitive stage learner. 3.0 Information Processing Theory There are many different models that define the Information Processing Theory, all of which describe how we think critically. Welford s model (Welford, 1968) suggests that we take in information through our senses and temporarily store all of these inputs prior to sorting them out. (Figure 1) A decision is made by comparing the information in the short term memory with previous experiences stored in the long term memory. The first stage in the information processing model is called stimulus identification (see figure 1). The person starts off by detecting the stimulus, such as seeing the basketball approach them from a chest pass. The next stage is the initiation of their response. The action of catching the ball and deciding what to do from their current position comes into play in this section of the model. If the action of a lay up is chosen, they will then complete the movement and organise the

  • 6. The Arab Civil War And The Destruction Of Ancient Objects... Since the early twenty first century and even before, museums in the Middle East have had to learn to cope with conflict. Syria is the best example of a country with many cultural heritage sites and museums that are in danger due to conflict. The onset of the Syrian Civil War and the destruction of ancient objects and cultural heritage sites by ISIS have been the most recent manifestation of this. As a result of the Syrian Civil War and ISIS takeover, sites like Palmyra and the Aleppo historic city center have been heavily damaged ( The Race to Save Syria s Archaeological Treasures. 2016). Palmyra has stood for thousands of years, as prominent commercial site in ancient times and as a symbol Syrian cultural identity in recent times. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... ISIS s motivations revolve around looting and smuggling of ancient artifacts for funding (al Frieh 2016), religious cleansing for the restoration of true Islam, a chance to make news headlines worldwide to spread fear and intimidation of local populations (Swicord 2016). The dangers of war have driven away many people who could protect these cultural heritage sites and the objects within them, and now they are helpless in the face of destruction in conflict and being smuggled for profit. Palmyra was a victim of this when ISIS captured the city in May of 2015 and controlled it for about one year. The city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with remains nearly 2000 years old ( ISIL captures strategic Syrian city of Palmyra. 2015). During its occupation, the city faced several kinds of destruction at the hands of its captors. The city had already been damaged from the fighting and shelling that resulted in its capture. The city s Temple of Ba al was severely damaged by mortar fire. ISIS also carried out many deliberate acts of violence against the objects and architecture. In the months following their victory, ISIS militants destroyed the Temple of Ba al s primary building and other structures, like the nearby Temple of Baalshamin and the decorative arches built by the Romans in the second century CE. They destroyed and defaced these larger like architecture and sculptures with explosives and jackhammers ( The Race to Save Syria s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Fahrenheit 451 Unit 9 Final Project The mid August heat is blazing as crews break down the temporary stage from last night s concert. The stage was set in what looks to be almost a half mile long and football field wide dry river bed. I can see the appeal of placing a stage here with the Aventine and Palatine Hills on each side to accommodate hundreds of thousands of spectators who would be able to see the stage. Once the stage is broken down this prime real estate in the middle of Rome, Italy will serve as a large park, but it was not always this way, the same reasons this park is used for concerts today is why the Circus Maximus was constructed here in the Valley of Murcia, Rome. The Circus Maximus began with the Valley of Murcia being used much as it is today. A small stream which ran off the Tiber river would dry enough to race around the banks. The natural rise of the land on the sides of the valley allowed spectators to sit. This is when the first version of the Circus Maximus, as we picture it, was completed. It is believed that the threat of fire caused Emperor Trajan to rebuild the Circus in the newly discovered concrete, marble, stone, and only the top section in wood. It was he who had the spina built connecting the two metae to represent the broken spine of the enemies of Rome with the obelisk placed by Emperor Augustus as the center piece. • 8. Genetic Engineering And The Canadian Regulation Biotechnology is the application of scientific techniques and exploitation of biological processes used to improve and modify animals, plants and microorganisms to enhance their value through genetic manipulation. Over time, advances in the field of molecular biology has allowed scientists to take a particular gene from any organism, including, bacteria, viruses, plants or animals, and introduce those genes into another organism. An organism transformed using genetic engineering techniques is known as transgenic organism (Independent learning center, 2012). This paper discusses the positive and negative effects of genetically engineered organisms in agricultural applications and the Canadian regulation or legislation that relates to this issue. Many farmers in Canada have welcomed major crop plants produced by genetic engineering. Four major transgenic crops including canola, corn, soy and sugar beet have been approved for commercial production in Canada (Canada Agency, 2015). Transgenic organisms offer a range of benefits in the agricultural applications. Over many years, transgenic organisms have helped increase crop productivity by introducing drought tolerance and disease resistance to crops. Today, scientist has been able to select genes for disease resistant from other organism and relocate them to essential crops. For example, in the 1980, researchers from University of Hawaii teamed up with Cornell University to develop a papaya cultivar resistant to papaya ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Technology In War Research Paper Technology at times have been referred to as inventions which create values for human beings and help them in living a better lifestyle, but no one would have ever thought technology would have even played an important role in war. The way wars are conducted have changed leaps and bounds from early 1800s to modern days. Industrial revolution and technologies have transformed how the warfare is conducted. Although technology might have helped opponents of the war to showcase their strengths during warfare and win wars, however certain reforms used in warfare had its effects (positive or negative) on the civilian citizens too. Since start of midcentury, industrial revolution had started shaping the warfare. The technological advancements ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was felt that it is important that manufacturing science should consider equipping the soldiers with guns which could make a bigger impact for the enemies. The armies have come a long way since they fought with spears, bows and arrows. Undoubtedly, the greatest technological reform came in the field artillery. (WORLD HISTORY OF WARFARE Archer, Christon I., 1940 ; Ferris, John Robert, 1956 ; Herwig, Holger H.; Travers, Timothy., c2002. Armed forces are one of biggest resource used in warfare and weapons are their tools provided, to help maneuver them in the fields. These weapons are designed to make maximum impact on enemies in terms of harm or kill or making them disabled, so that infantry soldiers can make inroads to enemy s territory. Technological advancement in weapons is just not only attributed to change in physical form of weapon, but there is lot of physics, chemistry, mechanics are involved in development of weapons. Previously, guns had been cast in individual molds and hence been much too heavy to drag across battlefields. Starting in eighteen century and until World War 1 various types of artillery guns were developed and used in war, however each one of these had their limitations. For example, prior to World War 1, Gatling gun was the most popular automatic rapid fire weapon, however it was quite heavy which limited its use in warfare. Later British developed Vickers gun, however it required six man team to operate his gun. Subsequently Americans invented Lewis gun, an automatic machine gun. This gun was gas powered and just weighted 28lbs. It could fire 500 600 rounds per minute with maximum muzzle velocity of 2,440 feet per seconds. • 11. Alex In A Clockwork Orange In Depth Character Analysis on Alex Besides the protagonist in A Clockwork Orange, who is Alex? Many times we only look at main characters with an outsiders perspective. The characteristics of a character are important, but the main characters are often made to be so much more in the inside by the author. Most simply, from an outward perspective, who is Alex? What shaped Alex to be violent? How might have other characters influenced him to be the leader of a gang? Where did Alex s actions leave him and did Alex understand that where he was left was avoidable? And finally, in his actions, good and bad, was there personal growth? These are all questions to explore while diving in to who Alex is from the inside. Most simply, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Alex is eventually shown, although the hard way, that violence (and overall, evil) is not the way one can live their life forever. After getting away with countless crimes, two of his droogs set him up. Alex is rightfully taken into the hands of the police officers and put in prison for the killing of an innocent woman. In this prison he is the first to be chosen and tested on with the Ludovico Technique, a correctional technique for criminals. This technique was a two week process of torture. Insuring that Alex couldn t move his body to interfere with the technique, two scientists had Alex put in a straight jacket and strapped down with his eyes held open by metal clamps. The scientists gave him nausea inducing liquid and would then play movies in front of him of crimes he had committed in the past, beating men and women profusely and raping women. This technique was thought to retrain and reform the criminal s brain. However, one of the more horrific movies was accompanied by classical music, the only nonviolent enjoyment Alex ever connected to. QUOTE From then on Alex gagged at the attempt to raise his fist to another person in the same way that he gagged at the sound of classical music. The doctors though, deemed his treatment to be successful and sent him out into the world a reformed man . Alex s violence resulted in treatment that then resulted to him not being able to ... Supervisor-Subordinate Relationships Albdour and Altarawneh (2014) state that further research is needed to collaborate and to understand the existing gap as to whether a quality relationship between the supervisor and the subordinate will have an impact on organizational and employee performance. Researchers propose reasons as to whether supervisors have struggles motivating their subordinate in the workplace. Supervisors can only encourage what subordinates are inclined to do. However, a quality supervisor subordinate relationship and many ways of communicating may be optimistic for the employee and increase performance. These workplace issues have been addressed within the same issues such as multicultural dissimilarities between supervisor and subordinate. Ethnicity is a familiarity, behavioral patterns, and cultural traditions that are shared by individuals of the same ancestral background. Therefore, multicultural differences are alleged to be one of the key obstacles to improve organizational and employee performance. These practices are highly effective for people in the Western civilization. However, these practices can be proven to be have the opposite effect for workers from the Asian population because of the immense multicultural background (Xerri, M. 2013). Current studies indicate that job satisfaction brings relevance to organizational responsibility that affects employee commitment. Researchers determined that workplace experience is a direct correlation to job satisfaction and commitment. It is believed that job satisfaction is an important component in maintaining commitment. • 14. Questions On The Quantification Of Light Absorption And... Quantification of 〖Cr〗^(3+) and 〖Co〗^(2+)in a Mixture Natalia Nole Last updated: September 12, 2016 Purpose Let s assume that we have two solutions, a clear and a colored one, whose concentrations and identities are unknown. If we shine some light of some intensity towards them; some of this light will go through and some of it will be absorbed. This is important because based on the amount of light absorbed by the solutions we can calculate their concentrations. This important and simple principle is known as Beer s Lambert law; which states that the absorbance is proportional to the product of the path length, the molar absorptivity and the concentration of a solution. Risk evaluation is defined as the process of determining the acceptability of identified risks to guide policy decision making. In other words, you find out the seriousness of the risks and see what policies need to be put in place to help prevent them. There are four methods for risk evaluation. The first method is risk benefit cost analysis. The risk benefit cost analysis means that risks are adequate if the economic benefits outweigh costs but difficult to determine certain costs such as health and environment costs. Little is said about the unequal distribution of costs and benefits across groups and time. The second method is revealed preferences. Revealed preferences is based on the hypothesis that risks tolerated currently or in the past provide a basis for evaluating the acceptability of new risks. The third method is expressed preferences. Expressed preferences is based on asking people what they favor. The House During the two years I lived in Charlottesville, Virginia, I passed by Monticello everyday on my way from home to school; I finally went up there to visit right before I left the town. Weaving through the giant plantation around it, the shuttle took us from the foot of the mountain to the hilltop, where the house rested. The house was relatively small compared to the size of the field surrounding it. Through several preservation and minor renovation, the floor we stepped on was still the original. I remembered walking under the house and circling back through all the servants facilities. All the dependencies were built into the side of the mountain in a U shape. (Figure 6 7) As for the main house for Jefferson and his family, the plan of the house showed that several rooms, especially the parlor, were hexagons, for maximizing daylight in the house, which followed the rounded world concept in the Pantheon. Also related to this sense, the front of the house were never defined. As in Jefferson s day, visitors today enter through the columned portico of the East Front into the Entrance Hall. West entrance is more private use for family and guests. But despite the function of the two entrance, there was no clear frontality or a single façade that dominated the house. If the east side farmers have it there way they will continue to be able to produce crops and farming on the east side will still be a possibility. The Friant Dam has been irrigating the east side of the valley since 1944. Over 95% of all water collected at Millerton is used to help agriculture. However, while Brutus and the conspirators successfully murder Caesar, Antony and Octavian emerge as the victors at the Battle at Philippi, suggesting that ultimately Caesar s spirit and rule lives in the noblemen who support him. The recurring supernatural imagery of Caesar s spirit in both Brutus tent prior to the battle in Act 4 Scene 3 and on the battlefield conveyed by Brutus in Act 5 Scene 5, suggests that Caesar s spirit not only metaphorically perpetuates but also literally appears in front of Brutus.
