Analysis Of Disney s If Disney Ran Your Hospital Essay
When I just looked at the title of this book If Disney Ran Your Hospital 9 1/2 Things You Would Do
Differently , I was pretty skeptical. No way. A hospital is neither a fun place nor entertainment. We
deal with lives. Responsibility is huge. But, Mr. Fred Lee, the author of this book, was very well
aware of that. He hit every single point I wanted to argue. Going to read the book, a lot of relevant
memories came up in my mind since I had worked for a hospital for a long time. I was convinced that
Disney s approach to quality improvement is applicable to hospital management. Out of 9 1/2 things, I
would like to talk about three actions that left marks on me with my experience: service vs.
experience, rewards to motivate people and closing the gap between knowing and doing.
The emergency department (ED) I worked for was a Level I Trauma Center, so patients were
transferred by ambulances, most of whom were in very severe conditions, such as cardio pulmonary
arrest, unconsciousness and multiple trauma. There was no room for patients to choose a hospital.
Roughly a third of patients coming to the emergency room (ER) died unfortunately. The other third
admitted to the intentional care unit (ICU), and the remains stayed at other wards in the hospital or
went back their home in a few days. In the ICU, the patients were laid on the beds that were lined
toward walls and separated on the side from their next patients with only roll curtains hanging from
the ceiling. Hence, they can

Aquaculture Is The Cultivation Of Sea Creatures ( Finfish...
Background What is Aquaculture? Aquaculture is the wide term used to describe the cultivation of sea
creatures. An example of aquaculture is fish farming. In Canada, the activities of aquaculture are
practised in all provinces. However, if we look at the species each province produces (Figure 1 1),
operations of coastal provinces have more variety on what they produce. It is easy to see why
operations are more focused on the top producers in Canada: British Columbia, New Brunswick, and
Newfoundland and Labrador (Figure 1 2). What type of economic activity does aquaculture provide?
Essentially, aquaculture is considered as a primary industry in the economic sector. This means that
aquaculture s main service is the production of goods, in this case, aquatic life. Aquaculture is unique
as it does not harvest wild marine animals, compared to commercialized fishing. Instead, aquaculture
focuses on farming the species of aquatic creatures (Finfish and shellfish). This economic activity
provides a product of resource that is cultivated without damaging the population of aquatic life found
naturally in the wild and provides a different alternative when it comes to the production of the
renewable resources of fish in Canada. In Canadian aquaculture, there are a variety of methods
involving the farming of aquatic life because of location. The oldest method is with the net pen system
(Figure 1 3). This type of aquaculture involves containing fish in a net that suspends around

Domain Name System Case Study
The United States government announced on March 14, 2014 that they had intentions to bring to an
end their role in the supervision of the Domain name system (Post, Kehl, 2015). Known as the IANA
transition it is of a grave importance in the chronicle of the worldwide grid and the rapport among
government control and network governance. The DNS to the Internet is certainly a notable business
accomplishment, and its efficient performance has been strategic to the stunning development of the
Internet throughout the past twenty years. To ensure that the system operates properly and to
accomplish its objective of widespread name uniformity, the doings of millions of discrete domain
operatives has to be coordinated by some means. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The changeover in 1998 1999, was a victory and those surfing the internet barely took notice when it
occurred (Post, Kehl, 2015).
In 2001, 2003, and 2006 ICANN and NTIA would move into an agreement towards the execution of
the IANA functions. NTIA on July 2, 2012 gave ICANN a genuine reasonable procurement procedure,
the current contract of IANA functions (Ntia.doc.gov, n.d). The indenture extends from October 1,
2012 to September 30, 2015, and has option periods of two years if the two periods are put into
practice the expiration for the agreement will be on September 30, 2019 (Ntia.doc.gov, n.d.). ICANN,
as the IANA functions operator executes organizational duties allied by means of the registries that are
linked to the three main IANA functions. It is a crucial receptacle for protocol number and name
registries utilized in scores of Internet procedures. ICANN upholds several of the numbers and codes
within Internet proprieties. It organizes distributions of Internet procedures and Autonomous System
numbers to the Regional Internet Registries, and in turn, ISP is allocated the numbers along with
others within their geographical districts. Root zone file change requests are processed by ICANN for
TLDs and a Root Zone WHOIS databank is available publicly with recent and corroborated contact
data for every TLD registry operator. ICANN, in all three cases, as the IANA functions operator,

Pharmaceutical Companies And The Pharmaceutical Industry
These pharmaceutical companies can increase their prices dramatically without the fear of losing
profits because there is a lack of competition in their field. Since there is no other companies in the
field to compete prices with, companies like Turing Pharmaceuticals can dramatically increase their
price to increase their revenue. Even prior to Turing Pharmaceutical s price increase, there was no
competitors and large profits were being made. What is odd about this situation is that despite the
large amount of profits being earned there are no new competitors entering the field. With other
industries, when is an observed large amounts of profits being earned, there can be seen a large
amount of new competitors entering the market. However, this is not the case for the pharmaceutical
industry. According to Donna Sym, there are no new entrants in the pharmaceutical industry, only
mergers within the industry (443). There are no new pharmaceutical companies entering the field.
Instead the current pharmaceutical companies are buying the ownership of the different drugs from
each other. When there is new ownership of a particular drug, most likely there would be a price
increase that follows along. As observed with Daraprim, when Turing Pharmaceuticals gained
ownership of Daraprim, there was an observed price increase of more than 5,000 percent. As of right
now, in the market for Daraprim, there has been a company named Imprimis Pharmaceuticals that has
created a $1 alternative

Causes Of Natural Disasters Essay
There has been a large increase in natural disasters in the U.S and in the entire world recently, these
natural disasters include Earthquakes, Floods, Hurricanes, Tornadoes, Tsunamis, and Wildfires 4.4
billion people have been affected by natural disasters, and 1.3 million people have been killed from
them, according to Childfund.org. The countries that have been most affected by these natural
disasters recently have been Zimbabwe, China, Peru, Afghanistan, Democratic Republic of the Congo,
Sri Lanka, Mexico, Columbia, Sierra Leone and South Asia. In just the past year, floods devastated
Thailand and food shortages struck East Africa. The current food crisis has put about 18 million
people in Africa s region at risk of deeper starvation. And extreme weather will likely increase in the
next few years, according to recent reports from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. A
recent drought in East Africa has put their people at the worst food crisis in 20 years, making 11.5
million people in need of food for themselves and their families. Severe droughts can be caused after a
region has not received rainfall or snow after a period of time. People can also play a bid role in
droughts, if we use too much water in times of normal rainfall, we might not have enough water when
a drought happens. Another thing the world is affected by is tsunamis, earthquakes under water can
cause tsunamis. Tsunamis or massive waves generated by a displacement of water, underwater

Introduction
One of the most important skills to have in the chemistry lab is the understanding of how chemicals
will react. Knowing for example, how a chemical will react with a metal, is an excellent way of
determining the amount of a particular metal in a deposit. This knowledge was used in this lab to
determine the amount of copper in an unknown sample mixture. It is also known that the
determination of the percent concentration of a certain solution, will directly effect the percent
transmission and absorption of a solution, dependent upon its dilution. By first testing known
concentrations of a solution, and plotting this information graphically, a line is formed ... Show more

The Life Of A World War 2
As a youngster I heard about this place, its marvelous rich history and its romanticized city. As a
grownup, I constantly craved to visit. Finally, in September of 2015 I found myself on my way there.
It was about a two hour drive from Lille. Seated in the car as I wait for others to come aboard, I felt an
enormous amount of eagerness. As women entered, inside the car started smelling like the cologne isle
at Macy s. As we pay our way through the highway, the usually shy driver is enthusiastic as he
describes to me (the only visitor) what was along the way. Most places reminded me of a World War 2
history book I have read in high school. It looked timeworn, you can see the history on those red brick
buildings. The ancient rails roads and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now, about a mile or so away from the tower, I could see the tip of it. I found myself thinking about
calling my wife, since she is the one who got me engrossed in the iconic structure with her plentiful
Eiffel Tower wall pictures. As we got closer, the tip of the tower kept getting higher and higher. By the
time we get close enough to get out of the car I can t see the tip anymore and the tower itself looks
exceedingly bigger that I ever anticipated. The grassy land leading up to the Eiffel Tower was
flawlessly cut. The pictures I once saw over the years started playing a slide show in my head. I can
see them all and I am trying to figure out whereabouts they were taken from. To get a better view I
decided to walk a little longer past the tower toward the river. As I stand right underneath the tower
with several hundred people I feel so tiny and negligible like an ant on a base of a sky scraper. As I
look up time to time, the tower appeared crooked and moving slowly, before I realize that the clouds
above it are the ones moving instead.
This was the melting pot. People from all walks of life with an awe struck look on their faces. Locals
were either selling merchandises or otherwise bemused by what visitors were doing. As I walk around
I am ducking left and right to avoid being hit by selfie sticks. I have never seen so many of these in
one place. It seemed as if all vacationers had a selfie stick and two spares just in case something

Literature Review Of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy
Literature Review
Much of the literature and research related to the use of cognitive behavioral therapy in the treatment
of chronic pain is rather new. Overall, upon reviewing the available literature, it appears as though
research is focused on determining what particular chronic pain populations experience the most
success with CBT based treatments. To begin, Loebach Wetherell et al. (2016) recently published the
results of their study on the impact of age on the efficacy of CBT and acceptance and commitment
therapy (ACT) in the treatment of chronic pain. The 114 individuals who participated in this study
were between the ages of 18 and 89. In order to be included in this study, subjects had to have been
suffering from nonmalignant, chronic pain for a minimum of six months and have a minimum score of
5 on the severity and interference subscales of the Brief Pain Inventory (BPI) (Loebach Wetherell,
Petkus, et al., 2016, p. 303). Following a medical and psychiatric evaluation, subjects were
randomized into groups that would receive either CBT or ACT. After completing a four to six week
pretreatment phase, study participants attended weekly, 90 minute CBT or ACT group sessions over
an eight week period. Blinded research assistants performed assessments at various points throughout
the treatment phase, as well as after treatments were completed. Participants responses to treatment
were evaluated via the BPI interference subscale, which aims to assess the affect of

A Brief Look at Polio
INTRODUCTION Polio is a viral infectious disease transmitted via the faecal oral route. It is a
dreaded disease especially in children, it results in infantile paralysis. Polio has no cure causing great
concern due to significant morbidity and mortality. Despite global efforts to eradicate Polio, it is still
endemic in parts of the world. This paper discusses the global problems posed by the disease,
eradication strategies employed globally and regionally and the challenges in the way of achieving a
world without Polio. HISTORY Polio dates to before the 20th century when first cases of epidemics
were clinically reported. In fact, an Egyptian carving which dates back to around 1400BC depicts a
priest with a paralysed leg similar to Polio victims. In the year 1789, a British doctor, Michael
Underwood, described Polio as debility of the lower extremities (www.polioeradication.org). In 1840,
a German doctor, Jacob von Heine established the disease may be contagious. In 1894, in USA, the
first significant Polio outbreak in infants was documented. In 1907, a Swedish doctor, Ivar Wickman,
identified different types of Polio infection and in 1908; two Austrian physicians Landsteiner and
Popper inferred that Polio is a viral infection. Several years later, research actions were launched and
in 1955, the first vaccine against the disease was created by Dr Jonas Salk.

Verkerk s FMR1 Genetic Disorder
INTRODUCTION
Verkerk discovered the fragile X mental retardation 1 (FMR1) gene in 1991, in individuals with a
chromosomal instability at the 5 untranslated exon 1 on the long arm of the X chromosome (Xq27.3),
a location closely related to autoimmunity (Verkerk et al., 1991). The position of this unstable region
in a non coding exon is a typical trait shared by other nucleotide repeat disorders, even though the
reason of such association remains unknown. At present, more than 30 genetic disorders, often and
curiously presenting with neurological impairment, share an altered number of repeated nucleotides,
albeit the FMR1 gene mutation is undoubtedly the most studied. A CGG triplet repeat expansion
characterizes the FMR1 gene mutation. Although belonging to the genetic conditions ... Show more

It is widely acknowledged that the X chromosome instability at Xq27.3 originates by a dynamic
mutation with a variable expansion of a trinucleotide (CGG) repeat (Budworth and McMurray, 2013).
This gene instability seems to rely in the loss of AGG triplet inserts commonly identified every 9 10
CGG triplets (Dombrowski et al., 2002). These AGG triplet repeats, accountable for alleles stability of
the CGG expansion, may deeply influence the risk of full mutation, as in individuals carrying the
same number of CGG repeats, such risk shows a 10 fold increase. The AGG inserts may then
influence the remodelling phenomena essential for the modulation of the neurosignals, as they limit
the further expansion of the CGG repeats (Eichler et al., 1994). Microsatellites and triplet repeats
probably contribute, during the adaptive evolution, to the species diversity, thus representing a central
mutational event (Kashi and King,

Essay on Immortality and Myth in The Age of Innocence
Immortality and Myth in The Age of Innocence Edith Wharton s books are considered, by some,
merely popular fiction of her time. But we must be careful not to equate popularity with the value of
the fiction; i.e., we must not assume that if her books are popular, they are also primitive. Compared to
the works of her contemporary and friend, Henry James, whose books may seem complex and
sometimes bewildering; Wharton s The Age of Innocence appears to be a simplistic, gossipy
commentary of New York society during the last decade of the 19th century*. Instead, it is one man s
struggle with the questions of mortality and immortality. Wharton s characters, settings and the
minutiae of social rituals, manners, speech habits, dress and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Urns and wall paintings tell us about the mythical characters predilection for a sensual life; this
compares to Wharton s characters penchant for their own hedonistic life of carousing, sexual cavorting
and dizzy social calendars of parties and operas. The Greeks, mythical and real, were masters of
architecture and decoration, which to this day, attest to their immortality. Wharton pays great attention
to the mansions and embellishments of the New York houses. Her society attempts to be immortal in
its own buildings; and by amassing ornate bits and bobbles from ages past and paintings and
decorations, the society feels it will live on forever: Then the house had been boldly planned with a
ball room, so that, instead of squeezing through a narrow passage to get to it (as at the Chiverses ) one
marched solemnly down a vista of enfiladed drawing rooms (the sea green, the crimson and the botron
d or), seeing from afar the many candled lustres reflected in the polished parquetry, and beyond that
the depths of a conservatory where camellias and tree ferns arched their costly foliage over seats of
black and gold Bamboo.
Wharton s characters, albeit mortal beings, are made immortal and some can even be compared with
mythical characters. We ll begin with the lesser characters. Newland Archer s sister, Janey who: was

Ray Bradbury s There Will Come Soft Rain
Ray Bradbury short story There will come soft rain is a chilling science fiction that hits closer to home
than we like to admit. Ray Bradbury s theme, setting and image shows what this can truly happen to
all of us. There will come soft rains and the smell of the ground, And swallows circling with their
shimmering sound; And frogs in the pools singing at night, And wild plum trees in tremulous white,
Robins will wear their feathery fire whistling their whims on a low fence wire; And not one will know
of the war, not one will care at last when it is done. Not one would mind, neither bird nor tree If
mankind perished utterly; And Spring herself, when she woke at dawn, Would scarcely know that we
were gone. This poem showing the world will not care when the human race is gone. The world will
go on with our without us. It is the year 2026, almost ten years and seven months from now there is a
self sustaining house that can run itself for months or even years. The house is made to cook for the
family that inhabit it, as well as remind it the date and time. It also cleans for the people living in it
constantly as well as set activities to pass the time, but all that is heard is silence. The house tells the
inhabitants the daily events and what to do at what time. But there is something different about this

Espionage is seen as a threat, no matter where the location. The Japanese wouldn t want people
sneaking photographs of top secret information. Amelia would be seen as a threat and her actions
would be greatly frowned upon naturally. Her gender or aviation movement would not matter, nor be

In this experiment, I m going to be dropping eggs from four different heights and see if it affects the

pulled towards the center of the earth, which causes them to fall downwards. Drag: Often this is also
called Air Resistance. Drag is when forces are acting in the opposite direction of the motion of an
object. Impact: Impact is the high force (or shock) applied over a short period of time when 2 or more
objects collide. The effect depends on the relative velocity (or speed) of the two objects to one
another. An object at rest tends to remain at rest and an object in motion tends to continue moving in a
straight line at constant speed unless an outside force acts upon it. The egg will not fall unless it is
dropped (an object at rest). While at rest, the egg has potential energy. The egg gains potential energy
as it is transported to a higher elevation for performing the egg drop experiment. Once dropped, it will

Cholelithiasis Research Paper
Introduction
Cholelithiasis (also called gallstones) is a form of gallbladder disease in which gallstones form in the
gallbladder. The gallbladder is an organ that stores bile. Bile is made in the liver, and it helps digest
fats. Gallstones begin as small crystals and slowly grow into stones. Gallstone pain occurs when the
gallbladder contracts and a gallstone is blocking the duct. Pain can also occur when a stone passes out
of the duct.
What are the causes?
This condition [is / may be] caused by:
What increases the risk?
The following factors may make you more likely to develop this condition:

This condition [is / may be] diagnosed [by / based on / with / during] ____.
How is this treated?
Treatment for gallstones depends on the severity of the condition. Silent gallstones do not need
treatment. In severe cases, emergency surgery may be required. Options for treatment include:
Medicines. These do not always work and may take 6 12 months or more for them to work.
Shock wave treatment (extracorporeal biliary lithotripsy). In this treatment, an ultrasound machine
sends shock waves to the gallbladder to break gallstones into smaller pieces that can then be passed
into the intestines, or be dissolved by medicine.
Surgery to remove the gallbladder. This is the most common treatment. Attacks almost always come
back and surgery is usually required for permanent treatment.
Follow these instructions at home:
Take over the counter and prescription medicines only as told by your health care provider.
Follow a low fat diet until you are seen again by your health care provider. Fat causes the gallbladder
to contract, which can result in

The Rhetorical Analysis Of Martin Luther s On Christian...
Martin Luther wrote On Christian Liberty, as an attempt to avoid conflict with the Church. In it, he
justifies his beliefs, primarily on the importance of placing faith in Christ above works in the grand
scheme of salvation. Throughout the treatise, he address who a Christian should be, the nature
humanity, and the role he believes faith, works, and ceremonies playing in forming a good Christian.
This, in turn, entices the reader to critique and search of his or her self, what it means to be a good
Christian and how to gain salvation. Within the first few pages of On Christian Liberty, Luther creates
a paradox that causes readers to think deeply about their own role as believers of Christ. In it, he
claims that a Christian is: ...a perfectly free lord of all, subject to none while, at the same time, being a
perfectly dutiful servant, subject to all (pg.2). Through faith, the most important part of a person s
salvation, a Christian gains freedom and liberty. However, a Christian becomes a servant of all
through love, subjecting themselves to the needs of others as Christ did. Luther identifies the two
natures of man as the body and the spirit. These two natures continuously conflict. The body is the
flesh or a person s outward nature while the soul represents the inner person. The bodily nature of
humanity has no bearing on the righteousness of the soul. Luther states that the soul cannot benefit if
the body and flesh is well. Regardless of outward wealth,

faster. She also let Catherine do the jobs she was meant to. She was very gullible and she did not sense
the change in Eddie s character until it was too late. She could have sense the change in him when he
started to pick out small mistakes in
Rodolfo, trying to separate them.
Catherine also played a large part in Eddie s downfall. Even though
Eddie was another figure in her life she should have realised that he was actually her uncle. She acted
like a baby and forgets that she is a young woman ...You still walk around in front of him in your slip
... and ... You throw yourself at him like when you was twelve years old... .
She did not act like a niece towards him and she did not give Beatrice and him space. Some times she
acted more like a wife than a niece. ... I can tell that he s hungry or wants a beer before he even says
anything... .
This also made Eddie feel closer to Catherine. Catherine s character was very weak. She lived most of
her life living by the rules of Eddie and she did not sand up for herself. She also did not ask
permission from
Eddie before she

provide psychological services, is becoming more a conventional practice in the field of psychology
due to the advancement of technology and the opportunities that advancement presents (APA, 2013).
Telepsychology has a number of benefits, as well as some limitations and risks, when compared with
traditional provisions of psychological services. The provision of services through these channels also
poses some ethical considerations for psychologists. Benefits and Concerns Telepsychology allows for
the remote access to psychological services. Because of this remote access, individuals who once had

Ethical Considerations The APA (2013), in collaboration with the ASPPB and the APAIT, developed
the Guidelines for the Practice of Telepsychology . These guidelines provide encouraged suggestions
for psychologists providing telepsychological services. The guidelines address competency, standard
of care, informed consent, confidentiality, security of information, disposal of data, testing and
assessment, and interjurisdictional practice (APA, 2013). Psychological providers have an ethical
responsibility to only provide services for which they have the appropriate training, education or
experience in which they have become competent. In practicing only when competent, psychologists
can assure that they are maintaining their ethical duties and providing appropriate care for the client.
To maintain appropriate standards of care, it is advised that providers follow best practices in
determining the appropriateness of telepsychological interventions for their clients (APA, 2013).
When telepsychological interventions are implemented, psychologists are advised to follow guidelines
relating to the provision of services. When it is determined that telepsychological services are
appropriate, it is the provider s responsibility to inform the client of the risks associated with these
types of services. Informed consent raises particular difficulties for telepsychological services due to
the difficulties in explaining the process and interventions to the client, obtaining and

Slavery And Colonial Rule During Colonialism
Slavery and Colonial Rule
During the years of European colonialism in Africa, slavery was used as the main source of labor for
various colonial projects. Slaves worked on various levels of service to the colonial powers, especially
the French. These include working on plantations and military service. Even though the French and
the British were profiting from the labor and oppression of Africans, they soon faced opposition for
their use of slavery as a tool for economic gain. In this essay, I will explain these elements of slavery
in colonial rule, by detailing information from Martin Klein s Slavery and Colonial Rule in French
West Africa, and Trevor Getz s Slavery and Reform in West Africa. Klein discusses the status of the
slave and the history of mistreatment by Europeans. He focuses on the time when the Portuguese came
to Senegambia during the 1600s. It was during this time that slave labor was being used to feed the
courts of coastal kings as it was used in the medieval empires of the interior. These slaves were enemy
combatants, who were captured and sentenced to work as punishment. The author mentioned that
slaves during this period did not have rights or an official identity. Many of them faced many forms of
persecution and mistreatment. By the time the French had take over, slaves were to be punished by
having the master make them sleep in irons, but if they accepted their status, their condition was
ameliorated. As time passed, and as other markets became

Mutated Virus Research Paper
Throughout the history, humankind has confronted with numerous infections from smallpox to
influenza. These viruses slaughtered such a variety of honest individuals. As innovation continues
showing signs of improvement, scientists discover new things and even, create a new strain of mutated
virus coincidentally. One of these researchers is, Dutch Ron Fouchier who is known for creating a
strain of H5N1 bird flu virus. In spite of the fact that he had no evil expectation to make such thing,
this strain can possibly wipe most humankind off the world and as well as saving society from much
more regrettable viruses that can come up later on. This creation has caused controversy in the
scientific world. While it s critical to distribute Fouchier s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What s more, publishing this will make it accessible for individuals to recreate it, make much more
regrettable ones than this strain, therefore, it shouldn t be open to public and be just accessible to the
particular gathering of individuals working on this virus. In 1993, the Aum Shinrikyo cult aerosolized
Bacillus anthracis spores over Kameido, Japan (NCBI). The religious group used a strain of bacteria to
infect people in 1993, this shows that there isn t really anything that stops people doing something
similar or much worse in 2015 with better technology. The religious group utilized a strain of bacteria
to contaminate individuals in 1993, this demonstrates there isn t really anything that stops individuals
accomplishing something comparative or much more terrible in 2015 with better technology. Then
again, people like Ab Osterhaus cannot help contradicting this thought. As per him, it is possible for
individuals may use the virus for harm in any case, however; there is a higher risk of nature repeating
this infection. He says, Bioterrorists may, however, nature will (Michael Phantom). Nature will create
this strain again in the end, so illuminating individuals about it would be the best thing to do. With the
contribution of different thoughts, you can shield the public from much more awful viruses that may

What Stomp At The Fox Theatre Downtown St. Louis
I went to see STOMP at the Fox Theatre in downtown St. Louis. Sometimes called the Fabulous Fox,
it was once a movie theatre, but it is now a performing arts center with a proscenium stage
environment that boasts the most ornate and profoundly beautiful decorations that I ve ever seen in a
theatre. Sitting down in my seat in the center of the house, on the floor, I was unsure of what I was
about to see. I was glad I didn t really have any preconceived ideas about what was going to take place
because STOMP was very different from what one usually expects when going to the theatre or a
dance concert. A blend of mime, dance, theatricality, and music performance, this the show was
definitely high energy and unique. During many of the pieces, the performers would use everyday
objects, both as props and as a way to make music. The very first piece of the show was danced by the
entire company of STOMP. The dancers were armed with brooms and wearing street clothes that
resembled what someone might be wearing on the streets of Harlem. Energetic and explosive in
nature, the piece started out with a lone dancer sweeping the stage. He swept the stage just like
someone might sweep the floor of their house or how a janitor might sweep the floor of a high school
gymnasium. As the piece went on, more dancers swarmed the stage. At one point in the dance, the
company members all stood in a row. In a ripple, they swung the brooms in a circle over their heads,
like human windmills. It

Billy Bribbit Character Analysis
Secondly, the character Billy Bibbit faces a lot of pressure, as seen with his relationship with his
mother, has a hard time fitting in with others due to his stuttering and find challenges in coping with
such things. First off, he is unable to meet unrealistic expectations , placed upon him by his mother
and enforced by the nurse Miss Ratched. Billy always seems to be in fear every time his mother is
brought up, and worries about disappointing her. His mother unfortunately though, is friends with
Miss.Ratched and so she uses this to her advantage, such as threatening to call Billy s mom, ever time
he steps out of line or does something wrong. It is unfortunate though, that these women in his life
keep picking on, and treating him as weak, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the high expectations on him, and the struggle to fit in, Billy is caught in the middle of what
other people want from him, without any way out. His stutter is not something he can make go away,
and the pressure from others to do and be better, will always be there, since there will always be
people in our lives who are unsatisfied with something about ourselves. He also cannot erase what he
has done to cope with this, most of his scars from self harming can even be permanent , and the guilt,
or reminder of doing so, will always be there then, marked upon his skin. Chief shows his remorse for
Billy, stating, He has to be cagey Billy... What could I do? I can t fix your stuttering. I can t wipe the
razor blade scars off your wrists or the cigarette burns off the back of your hands. I can t give you a
new mother. And as for the nurse riding you like this, rubbing your nose in your weakness till what
dignity you got left is gone and you shrink to nothing from humiliation, I can t do anything about that
either... Put your face away, Billy , ( Kesey, pg.115). This was said when the Big Nurse began trying to
get Billy to open up, during one of their therapeutic meetings and the Chief makes a very good point,
on how even if one wanted to help, it is not that easy. Chief in this quote, brings up an

  • 2. Analysis Of Disney s If Disney Ran Your Hospital Essay When I just looked at the title of this book If Disney Ran Your Hospital 9 1/2 Things You Would Do Differently , I was pretty skeptical. No way. A hospital is neither a fun place nor entertainment. We deal with lives. Responsibility is huge. But, Mr. Fred Lee, the author of this book, was very well aware of that. He hit every single point I wanted to argue. Going to read the book, a lot of relevant memories came up in my mind since I had worked for a hospital for a long time. I was convinced that Disney s approach to quality improvement is applicable to hospital management. Out of 9 1/2 things, I would like to talk about three actions that left marks on me with my experience: service vs. experience, rewards to motivate people and closing the gap between knowing and doing. The emergency department (ED) I worked for was a Level I Trauma Center, so patients were transferred by ambulances, most of whom were in very severe conditions, such as cardio pulmonary arrest, unconsciousness and multiple trauma. There was no room for patients to choose a hospital. Roughly a third of patients coming to the emergency room (ER) died unfortunately. The other third admitted to the intentional care unit (ICU), and the remains stayed at other wards in the hospital or went back their home in a few days. In the ICU, the patients were laid on the beds that were lined toward walls and separated on the side from their next patients with only roll curtains hanging from the ceiling. Hence, they can ... • 3. Aquaculture Is The Cultivation Of Sea Creatures ( Finfish... Background What is Aquaculture? Aquaculture is the wide term used to describe the cultivation of sea creatures. An example of aquaculture is fish farming. In Canada, the activities of aquaculture are practised in all provinces. However, if we look at the species each province produces (Figure 1 1), operations of coastal provinces have more variety on what they produce. It is easy to see why operations are more focused on the top producers in Canada: British Columbia, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland and Labrador (Figure 1 2). What type of economic activity does aquaculture provide? Essentially, aquaculture is considered as a primary industry in the economic sector. This means that aquaculture s main service is the production of goods, in this case, aquatic life. Aquaculture is unique as it does not harvest wild marine animals, compared to commercialized fishing. Instead, aquaculture focuses on farming the species of aquatic creatures (Finfish and shellfish). This economic activity provides a product of resource that is cultivated without damaging the population of aquatic life found naturally in the wild and provides a different alternative when it comes to the production of the renewable resources of fish in Canada. In Canadian aquaculture, there are a variety of methods involving the farming of aquatic life because of location. The oldest method is with the net pen system (Figure 1 3). This type of aquaculture involves containing fish in a net that suspends around ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Domain Name System Case Study The United States government announced on March 14, 2014 that they had intentions to bring to an end their role in the supervision of the Domain name system (Post, Kehl, 2015). Known as the IANA transition it is of a grave importance in the chronicle of the worldwide grid and the rapport among government control and network governance. The DNS to the Internet is certainly a notable business accomplishment, and its efficient performance has been strategic to the stunning development of the Internet throughout the past twenty years. To ensure that the system operates properly and to accomplish its objective of widespread name uniformity, the doings of millions of discrete domain operatives has to be coordinated by some means. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The changeover in 1998 1999, was a victory and those surfing the internet barely took notice when it occurred (Post, Kehl, 2015). In 2001, 2003, and 2006 ICANN and NTIA would move into an agreement towards the execution of the IANA functions. NTIA on July 2, 2012 gave ICANN a genuine reasonable procurement procedure, the current contract of IANA functions (Ntia.doc.gov, n.d). The indenture extends from October 1, 2012 to September 30, 2015, and has option periods of two years if the two periods are put into practice the expiration for the agreement will be on September 30, 2019 (Ntia.doc.gov, n.d.). ICANN, as the IANA functions operator executes organizational duties allied by means of the registries that are linked to the three main IANA functions. It is a crucial receptacle for protocol number and name registries utilized in scores of Internet procedures. ICANN upholds several of the numbers and codes within Internet proprieties. It organizes distributions of Internet procedures and Autonomous System numbers to the Regional Internet Registries, and in turn, ISP is allocated the numbers along with others within their geographical districts. Root zone file change requests are processed by ICANN for TLDs and a Root Zone WHOIS databank is available publicly with recent and corroborated contact data for every TLD registry operator. • 5. Pharmaceutical Companies And The Pharmaceutical Industry These pharmaceutical companies can increase their prices dramatically without the fear of losing profits because there is a lack of competition in their field. Since there is no other companies in the field to compete prices with, companies like Turing Pharmaceuticals can dramatically increase their price to increase their revenue. Even prior to Turing Pharmaceutical s price increase, there was no competitors and large profits were being made. What is odd about this situation is that despite the large amount of profits being earned there are no new competitors entering the field. With other industries, when is an observed large amounts of profits being earned, there can be seen a large amount of new competitors entering the market. However, this is not the case for the pharmaceutical industry. According to Donna Sym, there are no new entrants in the pharmaceutical industry, only mergers within the industry (443). There are no new pharmaceutical companies entering the field. Instead the current pharmaceutical companies are buying the ownership of the different drugs from each other. When there is new ownership of a particular drug, most likely there would be a price increase that follows along. As observed with Daraprim, when Turing Pharmaceuticals gained ownership of Daraprim, there was an observed price increase of more than 5,000 percent. As of right now, in the market for Daraprim, there has been a company named Imprimis Pharmaceuticals that has created a $1 alternative ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Causes Of Natural Disasters Essay There has been a large increase in natural disasters in the U.S and in the entire world recently, these natural disasters include Earthquakes, Floods, Hurricanes, Tornadoes, Tsunamis, and Wildfires 4.4 billion people have been affected by natural disasters, and 1.3 million people have been killed from them, according to Childfund.org. The countries that have been most affected by these natural disasters recently have been Zimbabwe, China, Peru, Afghanistan, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sri Lanka, Mexico, Columbia, Sierra Leone and South Asia. In just the past year, floods devastated Thailand and food shortages struck East Africa. The current food crisis has put about 18 million people in Africa s region at risk of deeper starvation. And extreme weather will likely increase in the next few years, according to recent reports from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. A recent drought in East Africa has put their people at the worst food crisis in 20 years, making 11.5 million people in need of food for themselves and their families. Severe droughts can be caused after a region has not received rainfall or snow after a period of time. People can also play a bid role in droughts, if we use too much water in times of normal rainfall, we might not have enough water when a drought happens. Another thing the world is affected by is tsunamis, earthquakes under water can cause tsunamis. Tsunamis or massive waves generated by a displacement of water, underwater ... • 7. Should We Mine This Ore Lab Report Should We Mine This Ore? Names CHM113 TA Name Class Time Introduction One of the most important skills to have in the chemistry lab is the understanding of how chemicals will react. Knowing for example, how a chemical will react with a metal, is an excellent way of determining the amount of a particular metal in a deposit. This knowledge was used in this lab to determine the amount of copper in an unknown sample mixture. It is also known that the determination of the percent concentration of a certain solution, will directly effect the percent transmission and absorption of a solution, dependent upon its dilution. • 9. The Life Of A World War 2 As a youngster I heard about this place, its marvelous rich history and its romanticized city. As a grownup, I constantly craved to visit. Finally, in September of 2015 I found myself on my way there. It was about a two hour drive from Lille. Seated in the car as I wait for others to come aboard, I felt an enormous amount of eagerness. As women entered, inside the car started smelling like the cologne isle at Macy s. As we pay our way through the highway, the usually shy driver is enthusiastic as he describes to me (the only visitor) what was along the way. Most places reminded me of a World War 2 history book I have read in high school. It looked timeworn, you can see the history on those red brick buildings. The ancient rails roads and ... I found myself thinking about calling my wife, since she is the one who got me engrossed in the iconic structure with her plentiful Eiffel Tower wall pictures. As we got closer, the tip of the tower kept getting higher and higher. By the time we get close enough to get out of the car I can t see the tip anymore and the tower itself looks exceedingly bigger that I ever anticipated. The grassy land leading up to the Eiffel Tower was flawlessly cut. The pictures I once saw over the years started playing a slide show in my head. I can see them all and I am trying to figure out whereabouts they were taken from. To get a better view I decided to walk a little longer past the tower toward the river. As I stand right underneath the tower with several hundred people I feel so tiny and negligible like an ant on a base of a sky scraper. As I look up time to time, the tower appeared crooked and moving slowly, before I realize that the clouds above it are the ones moving instead. This was the melting pot. People from all walks of life with an awe struck look on their faces. Locals were either selling merchandises or otherwise bemused by what visitors were doing. • 10. Literature Review Of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy Literature Review Much of the literature and research related to the use of cognitive behavioral therapy in the treatment of chronic pain is rather new. Overall, upon reviewing the available literature, it appears as though research is focused on determining what particular chronic pain populations experience the most success with CBT based treatments. To begin, Loebach Wetherell et al. (2016) recently published the results of their study on the impact of age on the efficacy of CBT and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) in the treatment of chronic pain. The 114 individuals who participated in this study were between the ages of 18 and 89. In order to be included in this study, subjects had to have been suffering from nonmalignant, chronic pain for a minimum of six months and have a minimum score of 5 on the severity and interference subscales of the Brief Pain Inventory (BPI) (Loebach Wetherell, Petkus, et al., 2016, p. 303). Following a medical and psychiatric evaluation, subjects were randomized into groups that would receive either CBT or ACT. After completing a four to six week pretreatment phase, study participants attended weekly, 90 minute CBT or ACT group sessions over an eight week period. Blinded research assistants performed assessments at various points throughout the treatment phase, as well as after treatments were completed. Participants responses to treatment were evaluated via the BPI interference subscale, which aims to assess the affect of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. A Brief Look at Polio INTRODUCTION Polio is a viral infectious disease transmitted via the faecal oral route. It is a dreaded disease especially in children, it results in infantile paralysis. Polio has no cure causing great concern due to significant morbidity and mortality. Despite global efforts to eradicate Polio, it is still endemic in parts of the world. This paper discusses the global problems posed by the disease, eradication strategies employed globally and regionally and the challenges in the way of achieving a world without Polio. HISTORY Polio dates to before the 20th century when first cases of epidemics were clinically reported. In fact, an Egyptian carving which dates back to around 1400BC depicts a priest with a paralysed leg similar to Polio victims. In the year 1789, a British doctor, Michael Underwood, described Polio as debility of the lower extremities (www.polioeradication.org). In 1840, a German doctor, Jacob von Heine established the disease may be contagious. In 1894, in USA, the first significant Polio outbreak in infants was documented. In 1907, a Swedish doctor, Ivar Wickman, identified different types of Polio infection and in 1908; two Austrian physicians Landsteiner and Popper inferred that Polio is a viral infection. Several years later, research actions were launched and in 1955, the first vaccine against the disease was created by Dr Jonas Salk. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Verkerk s FMR1 Genetic Disorder INTRODUCTION Verkerk discovered the fragile X mental retardation 1 (FMR1) gene in 1991, in individuals with a chromosomal instability at the 5 untranslated exon 1 on the long arm of the X chromosome (Xq27.3), a location closely related to autoimmunity (Verkerk et al., 1991). The position of this unstable region in a non coding exon is a typical trait shared by other nucleotide repeat disorders, even though the reason of such association remains unknown. At present, more than 30 genetic disorders, often and curiously presenting with neurological impairment, share an altered number of repeated nucleotides, albeit the FMR1 gene mutation is undoubtedly the most studied. A CGG triplet repeat expansion characterizes the FMR1 gene mutation. Although belonging to the genetic conditions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is widely acknowledged that the X chromosome instability at Xq27.3 originates by a dynamic mutation with a variable expansion of a trinucleotide (CGG) repeat (Budworth and McMurray, 2013). This gene instability seems to rely in the loss of AGG triplet inserts commonly identified every 9 10 CGG triplets (Dombrowski et al., 2002). These AGG triplet repeats, accountable for alleles stability of the CGG expansion, may deeply influence the risk of full mutation, as in individuals carrying the same number of CGG repeats, such risk shows a 10 fold increase. The AGG inserts may then influence the remodelling phenomena essential for the modulation of the neurosignals, as they limit the further expansion of the CGG repeats (Eichler et al., 1994). Microsatellites and triplet repeats probably contribute, during the adaptive evolution, to the species diversity, thus representing a central mutational event (Kashi and King, ... • 13. Essay on Immortality and Myth in The Age of Innocence Immortality and Myth in The Age of Innocence Edith Wharton s books are considered, by some, merely popular fiction of her time. But we must be careful not to equate popularity with the value of the fiction; i.e., we must not assume that if her books are popular, they are also primitive. Compared to the works of her contemporary and friend, Henry James, whose books may seem complex and sometimes bewildering; Wharton s The Age of Innocence appears to be a simplistic, gossipy commentary of New York society during the last decade of the 19th century*. Instead, it is one man s struggle with the questions of mortality and immortality. Wharton s characters, settings and the minutiae of social rituals, manners, speech habits, dress and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Urns and wall paintings tell us about the mythical characters predilection for a sensual life; this compares to Wharton s characters penchant for their own hedonistic life of carousing, sexual cavorting and dizzy social calendars of parties and operas. The Greeks, mythical and real, were masters of architecture and decoration, which to this day, attest to their immortality. Wharton pays great attention to the mansions and embellishments of the New York houses. Her society attempts to be immortal in its own buildings; and by amassing ornate bits and bobbles from ages past and paintings and decorations, the society feels it will live on forever: Then the house had been boldly planned with a ball room, so that, instead of squeezing through a narrow passage to get to it (as at the Chiverses ) one marched solemnly down a vista of enfiladed drawing rooms (the sea green, the crimson and the botron d or), seeing from afar the many candled lustres reflected in the polished parquetry, and beyond that the depths of a conservatory where camellias and tree ferns arched their costly foliage over seats of black and gold Bamboo. Wharton s characters, albeit mortal beings, are made immortal and some can even be compared with mythical characters. We ll begin with the lesser characters. Ray Bradbury s theme, setting and image shows what this can truly happen to all of us. There will come soft rains and the smell of the ground, And swallows circling with their shimmering sound; And frogs in the pools singing at night, And wild plum trees in tremulous white, Robins will wear their feathery fire whistling their whims on a low fence wire; And not one will know of the war, not one will care at last when it is done. Not one would mind, neither bird nor tree If mankind perished utterly; And Spring herself, when she woke at dawn, Would scarcely know that we were gone. This poem showing the world will not care when the human race is gone. The world will go on with our without us. It is the year 2026, almost ten years and seven months from now there is a self sustaining house that can run itself for months or even years. The house is made to cook for the family that inhabit it, as well as remind it the date and time. It also cleans for the people living in it constantly as well as set activities to pass the time, but all that is heard is silence. Gravity: This is the force that pulls objects towards each other. On our planet, objects are pulled towards the center of the earth, which causes them to fall downwards. Drag: Often this is also called Air Resistance. Drag is when forces are acting in the opposite direction of the motion of an object. Impact: Impact is the high force (or shock) applied over a short period of time when 2 or more objects collide. The effect depends on the relative velocity (or speed) of the two objects to one another. An object at rest tends to remain at rest and an object in motion tends to continue moving in a straight line at constant speed unless an outside force acts upon it. The egg will not fall unless it is dropped (an object at rest). While at rest, the egg has potential energy. The egg gains potential energy as it is transported to a higher elevation for performing the egg drop experiment. Once dropped, it will fall. This demonstrates kinetic energy. • 19. The Rhetorical Analysis Of Martin Luther s On Christian... Martin Luther wrote On Christian Liberty, as an attempt to avoid conflict with the Church. In it, he justifies his beliefs, primarily on the importance of placing faith in Christ above works in the grand scheme of salvation. Throughout the treatise, he address who a Christian should be, the nature humanity, and the role he believes faith, works, and ceremonies playing in forming a good Christian. This, in turn, entices the reader to critique and search of his or her self, what it means to be a good Christian and how to gain salvation. Within the first few pages of On Christian Liberty, Luther creates a paradox that causes readers to think deeply about their own role as believers of Christ. In it, he claims that a Christian is: ...a perfectly free lord of all, subject to none while, at the same time, being a perfectly dutiful servant, subject to all (pg.2). Through faith, the most important part of a person s salvation, a Christian gains freedom and liberty. However, a Christian becomes a servant of all through love, subjecting themselves to the needs of others as Christ did. Luther identifies the two natures of man as the body and the spirit. These two natures continuously conflict. The body is the flesh or a person s outward nature while the soul represents the inner person. The bodily nature of humanity has no bearing on the righteousness of the soul. Luther states that the soul cannot benefit if the body and flesh is well. Regardless of outward wealth, ... Slavery And Colonial Rule During Colonialism Slavery and Colonial Rule During the years of European colonialism in Africa, slavery was used as the main source of labor for various colonial projects. Slaves worked on various levels of service to the colonial powers, especially the French. These include working on plantations and military service. Even though the French and the British were profiting from the labor and oppression of Africans, they soon faced opposition for their use of slavery as a tool for economic gain. In this essay, I will explain these elements of slavery in colonial rule, by detailing information from Martin Klein s Slavery and Colonial Rule in French West Africa, and Trevor Getz s Slavery and Reform in West Africa. Klein discusses the status of the slave and the history of mistreatment by Europeans. He focuses on the time when the Portuguese came to Senegambia during the 1600s. It was during this time that slave labor was being used to feed the courts of coastal kings as it was used in the medieval empires of the interior. These slaves were enemy combatants, who were captured and sentenced to work as punishment. The author mentioned that slaves during this period did not have rights or an official identity. Many of them faced many forms of persecution and mistreatment. By the time the French had take over, slaves were to be punished by having the master make them sleep in irons, but if they accepted their status, their condition was ameliorated. Sitting down in my seat in the center of the house, on the floor, I was unsure of what I was about to see. During many of the pieces, the performers would use everyday objects, both as props and as a way to make music. The very first piece of the show was danced by the entire company of STOMP. The dancers were armed with brooms and wearing street clothes that resembled what someone might be wearing on the streets of Harlem. Energetic and explosive in nature, the piece started out with a lone dancer sweeping the stage. He swept the stage just like someone might sweep the floor of their house or how a janitor might sweep the floor of a high school gymnasium. As the piece went on, more dancers swarmed the stage.
