College Essay On Lung Cancer
Lungs are located in the either side of your chest. When you breathe, air goes through your nose,
down your windpipe, and into the lungs where it spreads through tubes called bronchi. Most lung
cancer cells begin in the cells that line these tubes. Lung cancer is the uncontrolled growth of
abnormal cells in one or both lungs (Lungcancer.org). In biology, I learned that a cancer cell is
basically a dead cell. The cancer cell is a failed cell, it doesn t work, or it just doesn t reproduce at all.
Although researchers found that it takes series of mutation to create a lung cancer cell
(Lungcancer.org). Lung cancer takes more lives each year than colon, prostate, ovarian, and breast
cancer combined. That s alot of lives that have been taken by this disease, my grandfather including.
Although he never smoked, doesn t mean you can still can t be able to get lung cancer. People who
smoke, have a higher risk of getting lung cancer. If you quit smoking, even after you quit smoking for
many years, you can significantly reduce your chances of developing lung cancer. Although, this
doesn t exactly disappear the chance of you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

experienced with all these numbers. Life expectancy can be determined with the patient s overall
health and the statistics. For example, a 5 year survival rate of 25 percent means that over 5 years, 25
out of every 100 people with lung cancer will be alive. Overall, the life expectancy of a lung cancer
patient will be 40 years, although long term survival remains

Primate Observation
Within this essay, we will study more in depth the behavioral as well as physical traits of two primates
at a zoo from their interaction with their peers to their place in the group. This observation would
enable us to further understand the possible existing correlation between humans and primates. First, I
studied a female chimpanzee with her baby, and then, a dominant male gorilla, in San Francisco Zoo
at about noon, on May 23, 2015, for an hour each. Even though they share some similarities such as
having a large brain, living for a long time, and being bored in their enclosure, they are still different;
when gorillas are the largest, chimpanzees are the smartest. In fact, chimps use tools to catch food,
they would not be able to reach ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, I was able to observe some similarities among these species. The way the female chimp used
tools, and her fingers to grab food, how she used to be on her feet, freeing her hands, groom her child,
educate her offspring, sleep with him while snuggling, use a lot of face emotions to convey a message
to an individual; she smiled at her baby, laughed when playing, and tickling him, remind me of
human. She also has a flat pink face, hands palm, and feet sole as humans do. Furthermore, the gorilla
was also really human when he protected his eyes from the intense sunrays, following the movement
of the sun, and sat in the shade, mated with a female, scratched his head, and bottom, and put his
finger in his nose. I think that these humans pattern appeared for similar reasons as in the Primates.
For instance, when the gorilla scratches his bottom, it is because the area is itchy, and he wants to
remove what is indisposing him. In addition, the mother chimp educates her kid to transmit knowledge
throughout generation, which is the same for humans, who go to school. According to my observation,
even though Chimpanzee, and Gorilla are similar, they differ in many other ways when we go deeper
in physical, and behavioral traits. However, both species also share the majority part of their DNA
with Humans. Based on some reliable researches, some scientists realized that humans did not come
from apes but instead shared common ancestors. As a matter of fact, humans and Primates are
different, but share most of their genome, explaining why we found some similar patterns of behavior
among humans, and

Short Story Of A Baseball Player
As we walked to the field he asked about my experience playing the game. So as we walked I told him
everything I had done in the sport and all of my accomplishments. He was impressed being at such a
young age not receiving or getting the opportunities to achieve what I had achieved. Neither of his
parents had played baseball. His father had played cricket and tennis and his mom ran track. Finally
we arrived at the baseball field, Kyle eager to learn about the sport. The grass looked beautifully rich
and the sun gleamed on the field.
First I taught him how to catch and throw the ball, which he picked up surprisingly very quick. He had
a great arm for a 7 year old! From there I taught him how to hit. We worked off the tee at first and then

Ethnic Differences Between Tutsi And Twa Essay
Analysis Before the genocide, Rwanda demonstrated three major ethnic categories. Hutu constituted
the majority of the population, accounting for some 85% of all native Rwandans. Tutsi and Twa,
comprising approximately 14% and 1% of the population respectively, shared Rwanda with the Hutu
majority. Between Hutu and Tutsi, there were no major differences in language, religion, or clanship.
Traditionally, these ethnic distinctions related to occupation rather than traditional racial categories:
The Hutu were generally identified as agriculturalists whereas the Tutsi were usually recognized as
herdsmen. Prior to European colonialism and the subsequent issuing of racial identity cards during the
1930s, these identities were flexible Hutu could acquire livestock and Tutsi could practice agriculture.
In the early 1900s, Dutch colonialists reorganized Rwandan society on the basis of Tutsi racial
superiority. Hutu and Twa were recognized as historically indigenous populations whereas the Tutsi
were believed to have migrated from either Ethiopia or the Middle East. Colonialists exaggerated the
physical differences between Hutu and Tutsi, often mistakenly incorporating the pigmy Twa into these
comparisons. In actuality, these constructed racial classifications were inconsistent and arbitrary.
Unable to distinguish consistently between native Hutu and Tutsi, Dutch administrators eventually
introduced means tested systems of ethnic recognition, by classifying any person

Patient Confidentiality Essay
Patient Confidentiality
As healthcare providers, maintaining a patient s confidentiality, human dignity and privacy is expected
at all times. Nurses are faced with maintaining patient confidentiality on a daily basis. The Coded of
Ethics for Nurses is the framework of nonnegotiable ethical standards and obligations that all nurses
are to uphold. Nurses are to be accountable for their actions and are expected to advocate and strive to
protect the rights, health and safety of patients (American Nurses Association, 2011).
Constant patient turnovers, visitors and numerous workers in and out of the emergency area can make

According to the ANA (American Nurses Association), it is the duty of nurse to protect the patient s
rights, safety, health and advocate for the patient. By treating the patient in an open area, invades their
privacy, can cause embarrassment and most of all jeopardize trust between the patient and care giver.
This negligent care could also lead to legal ramifications in the future against the hospital. By
breaking this trust, the patient may also omit valuable information that could affect their treatment
ultimately causing them harm. Some patients may become noncompliant with their prescribed
treatment. It is essential that effective communication between patient and care provider occurs at all
times. . Healthcare providers are obligated to give safe and effective care.
As an effective and ethical leader, it is of most importance that they create and foster an ethically
principled environment. In this scenario, the importance of patient confidentiality would be identified
and addressed with all staff members of the health team. Ethical behaviors would be discussed with
each team member in order to ensure that the healthcare needs of the patient are met as well as their
privacy protected. A new process would be implemented so that patients would be identified by
assigned numbers instead of identified by name. Also it would be enforced that no patient be treated in
an open area unless some

Ministry Burnout
A Description and Scope of the Issue of Ministry Burnout
The Scope of the Issue of Burnout Ministry burnout is a problem for the minister who is burned out,
the family of the minister, and the churches they serve. Adding to the problem is, There are still many
in the churches who refuse to recognize that there is a problem with what is today called clergy
burnout (Randall, 2013, p. 334). When a church will not acknowledge there is a potential problem, the
minister will be left to deal with the shame and pain of suffering burnout. Burnout is a psychological
condition that results from chronic stress related to working with people (Milner, 2007, p. 9). The
statistics are alarming. Christian Ministers are leaving the ministry in droves. According to statistics
gathered by J.R. Briggs, 1,500 pastors leave the ministry for good each month because of burnout or
conflict in the church they serve (cited in Briggs, 2014). According to the data gathered by Brigg
(2014), that means that over 18,000 pastors leave the ministry each year because of burnout and
conflict. Briggs (2014) also found that 80 percent of pastors and 84 percent of pastors spouses are
discouraged in their roles. Statistics further reveal that for every 20 pastors who go into ministry, only
one retires from ministry (cited in Briggs, 2014). To further expose ... Show more content on

The Influence Of Righting Reflex On Earth
THE SCIENCE BEHIND; Why cats always land on their feet
Felines, such interesting animals, varying from a large ferocious lion to a meer house cat. These
creatures are powerful and very intelligent animals, with the occasionally clumsy cat. One of their
most used skills is their ability to leap, jump or fall and always land on their feet. They make it look so
easy. But do not be deceived, there is actually some complicated feline effort and science that goes
into their graceful tumbles and leaps.
Righting Reflex, that s the basic and simple answer. The righting Reflex is a cat s ability to almost
instantaneously turn itself towards the ground, allowing itself to almost always land on their feet, but

1. How much is the Bet Performer worth based on comparable transactions? What ship is the best
reference transaction? (the closest comparable)? Comparable transaction is a conventional method of
evaluating the value of something that is ready for sale. To value a ship, one had to identify a set of
comparable ships where comparability was based on four main factors: ship type, size (DWT), age,
and condition. The Bet Performer was a 11 year old ship, built in 1997, 172,000 DWT capsize bulk
carrier. From the Exhibit 4, there are five ships which are the most comparable to Bet Performer. They
are Martha Verity, Ingenious, Sumihou, Cape Sun, and Coppersmith. These ships all have the most

This is logical because, larger the ships, more load could they carry, and thus make higher profits, so
are priced higher. Relationship between Age and Ship Price: From the regression, we find that as the
ship ages by one year, the price of the ship drops by $ 4.54 mln. This makes sense because as with any
other vehicle or asset, the efficiency of the ship drops with age. As it gets older, the carrying value of
the ship lowers due to depreciation. Relationship between Charter rates and Ship Price: With one point
increase in the Capesize ship index, there is a slight increase in the price of the ship by $0.007 mln.
The Capesize ships took like a year to build, and are good for 25 years, after which they are
demolished and sold for scrap. The economics of this ship breaking differed by ship size and type
category. So higher this index, higher is the price of the ship. b. Can you think of other factors that
might predict ship prices? Apart from the 4 factors ship type, DWT, ship age and gears, there are a
couple of other factors which affect the ship price. They are Type of main engine, Confirmed time
charter contracts with creditworthy counter parties Loading equipment (cranes and derricks) Shipyard
(original builder) Location (where the ship was at the time of sale) All these affected the price of the

Re: Fill Rate for 10 ounce bottles of Linatol
Introduction
Lorex Pharmaceuticals recently gained FDA approval to market and sell a new product called Linatol.
This memo will address the need to select a target amount to which each 10 ounce bottle of Linatol
will be filled. The analysis of several target fill rates was conducted to determine the one that
maximizes the contribution per case, therefore generating the maximum revenue for Lorex
Pharmaceuticals. This ideal fill rate will allow more bottles to be sold at the full retail price of $186
and limit the under filled ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For each target fill rate the proportion of bottles filled correctly had to be determined. This calculation
provides a breakdown between cases that can be sold for the full amount of $186 and cases that are
designated as seconds, which are sold for 80% of the full price or $148.80. Revenue per case grows
continuously as the target fill rate increases. From the blending costs which include $67,662 of active
ingredient per 5000 liters, and blending labor of $432 per 5000 liter batch the cost per ounce of
medication is approximately $0.40. This provides input for the active ingredient cost. Based on the
labor cost of $8.50 per hour at 12 cases per hour, the input for rework cost per case is approximately
$0.70 per case. Contribution per case is derived from the revenue minus the costs. The contribution
per case is the performance criteria that our decision is based upon. Results
A balance between revenue and cost is seen at a target fill rate of 10.4 ounces per bottle. The revenue
per case is greater when the bottles are filled to 10.5 ounces; however the resulting increase in the
active ingredient cost produces a lower contribution per case. The recommendation is to use a target
fill rate of 10.4 ounces per bottle. Initially there will be an increased cost of active ingredients but in

The Destruction Of Offred In The Handmaid s Tale
After failing to change Iliad s misguided ways, Offred is taken away from her home by strange men,
but she is not frantic nor worried. After losing all that she holds dear, she sees no purpose and has
grown accustomed to the present state of cruelty and mistreatment. [She is] orderly and calm, and
Atwood makes it clear that this is her biggest fear (287). Transitioning from a fighter of progress
working against the system to one adjusted and relented to rampant injustice, Offred embodies the
theme of Atwood s messaging. Quietly accepting her fate, she has little drive within motivating her
further to tackle her suppressors and resist. She simply [steps] up into the van taking her away and

In Iliad, women abandon their identity, freedom, sanity, and hope to conform, but eventually, they end
up giving up much more than they bargain for: themselves. Offred is only a whim (159) in the eyes of
this society and she too comes to believe it herself. To her commander who controls her entire life, she
is merely a toy or tool. To her superiors, she is just a method for repopulation. To her friends, she is
only a source of companionship. To Atwood, she is a sign that silence and acceptance should be
feared. Because [she has] been emptied (282) by society and those around her, Atwood clarifies these
hazards of ignorance, which are additionally expanded upon through Offred s transformation. It may
seem inconsequential at first, but one may become so deeply entangled in this new world, such as
Iliad, that the line between truth and fiction, good and evil is blurred. An enemy is difficult to fight
when one cannot see nor comprehend it, and Atwood s characterizes Offred as a girl condemned to her
reality because she is unable to see her foe. More than that, she is alone or feels like she is. When
detailing her story, Offred [feels] as if [she is] talking to a wall and she has no one to confide in with.
She [feels] so alone (195). In society, real and fictitious, those who are isolated do not stand a chance,

The False Claims Act
Proprietary education dates back to the late nineteenth century where institutions focused on
professional training in teaching, medicine, and law (Breneman, Pusser, Turner, S., 2000). The 1972
Higher Education Reauthorization Act included for profit institutions in federal financial aid programs
and changed the vernacular of higher education to postsecondary education (2000). This piece of
legislation along with new technologies along with increased demand for higher education and
prompted a resurgence of for profit institutions in the latter half of the twentieth century (2000). From

Current Issues with For Profit Institutions
Over the past few years there has been an increase in False Claims Act lawsuits filed against major for

The Themes Of Death And Death
Cambridge Hinds
Big Question Paper
The Meaning of Death
The themes of life and death are used frequently throughout many ancient and modern stories, and
specifically, thoughts on death and what it means differ from author to author, time period to time
period, and circumstance to circumstance. Many works of ancient literature address the meaning of
death directly; examples include the drama Medea by ancient Greek playwright Euripides in 431 BCE,
and the Decameron by Italian Giovanni Boccaccio in around 1353. As well as being popular themes in
ancient literature, however, death is used for significant meaning in modern novels, movies, TV
shows, and other forms of storytelling and entertainment. A good example of this is the movie The
Book of Life, directed by Jorge R. Gutierrez.
Dictionary.com defines death as: ...the total and permanent cessation of all the vital functions of an
organism. In many religions, death is a transition from this world to another, whether it be for better or
worse. In our modern western society, death has many different views; it can be a bittersweet occasion
as well as a tragic one, depending on circumstances. As seen in Medea, the Decameron, and The Book
of Life, death always means an end to life, and an ultimate severance from the living. However, these
texts provide very different views of death, as well. Respectively, it means tragic revenge, a feared
end, and reconciliation as well as separation.
In the tragedy Medea, death is central to

Peloponnesian War Strategy
Evolution of Strategy Throughout the Peloponnesian War
In the years leading up to the Peloponnesian War, Athens and Sparta formed a successful alliance
defending Hellas from a Persian invasion. This alliance dissolved soon after leaving two independent
city states in its place. Athens possessed a robust naval force and Sparta possessed a formidable
military force. Each possessed unique systems of government and policies that defined markedly
different approaches for relationships with their respective allies. These policies shaped the strategies
that each city state developed and implemented during the 27 year Peloponnesian War. This paper
examines the evolution of Athenian and Spartan strategy using the ends, ways, and means paradigm;

Sparta s strategy spread risk among its allies, resulting in a positive cost to benefit ratio. In contrast,
Athens was incorrect in its initial assessment of Sparta s capability to become a significant threat and
that assessment appeared to changed little leading up to the Sicilian expedition. Further, Athens risked
and lost a significant percentage of its own resources on the Sicilian expedition rather than spreading
the risk across allies as in the Spartan strategy. It is impossible to know if Sparta s initial vision
remained present in its strategic planning throughout the war. It is likewise impossible to know
whether or not Athens initial assumptions regarding Sparta s future capabilities influenced its future
strategic evolution. However, by the end of the Sicilian expedition, Sparta s strategy proved
sustainable and effective in adapting to changes in the realities, risks, and length of the

The Role of the Double Plot in King Lear and Hamlet Essay
King Lear and Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, are two plays that reveal similar thematic elements,
yet possess fundamentally different plot structures. Driven by the suffering and rage of two
complementary characters, both plays suggest injustice through good , but ultimately flawed
characters. This shared overarching theme is, however, conveyed differently within each of the works,
as one employs two mainly disparate plot threads, while the other relies more heavily on the
interaction between the two central plots. Yet the ultimate purpose of this dualism remains the same
within both King Lear and Hamlet, in that Shakespeare s use of the double plot illuminates the tragic
elements within both plays, emphasizing core injustices through ... Show more content on

This dichotomy between external blames and internal repentance is used by Shakespeare to
demonstrate the tragic nature of King Lear from more than one plane, showing how two different
personalities respond to two similar fates. In Hamlet however, this clear symmetry is replaced with a
more muddled intertwinement. Rather than maintaining two relatively separate plot threads in the
journeys of Lear and Gloucester, Shakespeare opts to interweave the motivations and fates of Laertes
and Hamlet, using their conflict as the central dynamic, while their parallels take a reduced role. In
this sense, while King Lear is driven solely by the dualism of the story, Hamlet relies on the clash of
the two plots to suggest injustice. This injustice, through conflict, is shown most prominently in
Hamlet s and Laertes duel at the end of the play. Hamlet, describing Laertes as a a very noble youth.
(5.1.231), reveals a respect towards his foe that suggests that it is circumstance, not choice, that forces
his hand. Similarly, Laertes singular goal, To this point I stand, that both the worlds I give to
negligence, let come what comes, only I ll be revenged most thoroughly for my father. (4.5.151 154)
shows that his wrath is fueled solely by duty, such that his pursuit of revenge imparts upon him a
single minded myopia that drives him inexorably towards the final conflict. Ironically, upon meeting
Claudius after hearing of his father s death, Laertes asks How came he

Dysfunctional Families
Dysfunctional families breed dysfunctional children. This can stay with them all the way up to their
marriage and is most likely to occur in their relationship. According to research done by the University
of Chicago ( published in the journal of Abnormal Child Psychology) social skills can be interpreted
as everything from the basic please and thank you to speaking in large crowds. How parents deal with
that is just as important for the child as the violence they are being exposed to. In the end, they both
affect the child one way or another. Part of the Brain The brain is the central control system for the
entire body. It is made up of many parts, but there is a very important part of the brain, in this case
would be the Visual Cortex the part of the brain responsible for processing visual information. This
part of the brain is what gets fired up when watching a horror movie. (US National Library of
Medicine) gives me information on how the visual cortex works in the midst of viewing horror
movies. Dopamine (a neurotransmitter released by the brain that plays a number of roles) gets
produced, then, the image captured by the eye is transmitted to the Optic Nerve (located in the back of
the eye) and is transmitted via electrical impulses. This nerve also terminates the cells of the lateral ...

Pat, By Bradley Cooper
Pat, played by Bradley Cooper in Silver Linings Playbook, is a middle aged Caucasian man who is
married to Nikki, but in a separation during this movie. Pat just got out of a mental hospital in
Baltimore after being treated there for eight months. Pat was placed in the mental hospital after having
an outraged manic episode after finding his wife in the shower with another man, the history teacher
from the school she taught at. Pat found them while their wedding song was playing in Pat and Nikki s
shower in their house. Pat ended up beating the man, almost to death, as his wife tried to pull him off.

ruled that he could move in with them if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therapy needs to be dialed in and positives need to be given to his medication so he will start to get
better and have less episodes.
Pat could be diagnosed with Bipolar I disorder (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). It is hard to
tell whether Pat is going through hypomania or mania episodes throughout the movie, because it does
not say their duration, and it s hard to tell if the movie is a day to day storyline, or skipping multiple
days/weeks at a time. However, it is definitely some form of a manic episode a few times throughout
the movie. Pat displays multiple periods of irritable moods that consist of goal directed behaviour and
energy (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). Pat displays his irritable moods throughout the
movie, for example, in the scene where he is searching for his wedding video and becomes agitated
quite fast once he realizes he cannot find it. His goal directed behaviour during his episodes is very
specific, for example finding his wedding video, it is the middle of the night and he is searching the
house frantically for it, Pat even wakes up his parents to help him search their room, study and the
attic.
I believe Pat has a more irritable manic disorder, therefore he needs to have four symptoms showing a
noticeable change in his behaviour (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). First of all Pat displays
grandiosity in one scene, when he is fighting at a diner with Tiffany, a friend,

Susan Cain Ted Talk Analysis
The Power of This Introvert Susan Cain s Ted Talk The Power Of Introverts brought a new
conversation to society in how introverts are treated. Five years ago (when this took place) this topic
was not very well discussed, which made this piece very eye opening for some. Using Aristotle s
appeals: logos and pathos, as well as a comparative argument in her ted talk, Cain persuades viewers
that we as a society oppress/shame introverts, not allowing them to strive or be themselves in our now
extroverted society. She advocates for a more balanced society that serves both introverts and
extroverts instead of just extroverts. Cain s speech uses pathos to allow the audience to understand
how introverts are oppressed in society, and why this is a problem. Cain starts the speech off with an
emotionally driven story that demonstrates how she was shamed for her introverted tendencies as a
young girl in camp. I got the message that somehow my quiet and introverted style of being was not
necessarily the right way to go, that I should be trying to pass as more of an extrovert. This idea that
introverts are encouraged and almost forced to be someone they are not is pathos because it persuades
the audience through a feeling of injustice and compassion, as well as relatability from fellow
introverts. Cain extends this idea as a loss to society as well, stating it is our collegues loss, our ...

inspiring, factual, and brought awareness to an issue that was not discussed much before this

Justness Of Corporal Punishment
Since the ancient human times, corporal punishment has been one of the most popular methods
parents have used on enforcing their tutelage onto their children. Corporal punishment is defined as
the physical punishment that parents use on their children to enforce rules. The act is seen as
something of the past in 48 countries around the world, but for Canada. This is because they still have
not resolved it in their legal systems, for Canada this law being the infamous Section 43. Even though
it was implemented for the protection of parents and teachers from prosecution because of minor
disciplining, it really is an excuse for violence against children. In this generation, the justness and
effectiveness of corporal punishment have come into question, which is what this writing piece aims
to further delve into.
While anthropology may not be the most obvious study connected to corporal punishment, the two
topics are more related than most people think. As humans, we have a sense of morals and values, and
the understanding of our culture s changes is vital to understanding our shift in values. From an
anthropological point of view, corporal punishment would be focused on what caused humanity s shift
in values when it came to the justness of corporal punishment? . Based on the evidence, the answer to
this would be if humanity has a recent change in values when it comes to corporal punishment, then it
is because of the recent boost of awareness different cultures have gained in

Clover Flashbacks
Clover trudges through the brilliant white snow, carefully weaving her way through the tombstones
and flowers of the city s graveyard.
Every headstone is the same polished white marble engraved with the name of the person and the date
they died. Clover knows that all the coffins are the same too, having witnessed many a homecoming
of dark, wooden boxes as a trainee at the academy. Their trainers would stand next to them, solemn as
they recounted the death of the trainee (more often a mangled mess then a human being) in the coffin
floating by with a look that said, This is what happens when you fail.
So they didn t. More often than not, the trainees managed to win the show and return home a hero.
Clover chuckles bitterly as she sits down next to one of the graves, placing a bouquet of red ... Show

And when she had seen him march through the crowd of soldiers, her breath caught in her throat.
She couldn t keep fighting. She couldn t, she couldn t, this was Soto, and she wasn t going to kill him.
But when he called her name, and the fighting stopped, everything became okay. And she found the

Harry Parr Research Paper
Parr in London
Harry Parr aged 29, was newly returned to England, fluent in both the Italian and French languages,
when he took up a position of modelling tutor at Glastonbury College of Art. However, his ideal was
to become a fine artist, and to work on his own account. Returning to London he found lodgings in
Chelsea. Throughout 1910, while trying to procure sculpture commissions, he lived as best he could
around the Chelsea area. Undaunted at his seemingly slow progress, he carried on working from his
lodgings cum studio, 54 Lamont Road Chelsea SW. That same year he exhibited at the Royal
Academy a silver plaque portraying Miss Alice Clark RA 1883 and a portrait bust, titled, Una Madre

Also, before he moved to teach art Glastonbury, for a while Parr lodged at the Pavey family home in
the village of Long Ashton, Somerset. Kate and Parr exchanged photographs of each other as tokens
of their burgeoning relationship (Figs. 25 26). Returning to London in 1902, Parr resumed his
relationship with Kate Pavey, and there followed a long courtship. The census of 2nd April 1911 states
that Harry Parr was 30, and employed in the humble position of Assistant Art Master at Woolwich
Polytechnic College. He also worked at home for three days of the week on his own account.
Additional evidence suggests that Kate Pavey aged 31, was at during 1911 teaching art and living in
Paddington. Her eldest sister Gertrude Mary 34 lived and taught music at Winscombe, Somerset, and
her middle sister, Florence 32, lived with her parents and taught music. The Pavey s lived in a gable
ended cottage called The Shanty, in the village of Yatton, Somerset, and close to Yatton Railway
Station, situated on the main line from Paddington to Weston Super Mare. Railway travel would
become a convenient mode of transport for Harry and Kate Parr, when taking their children to their
maternal grandparents cottage for their summer

The Value Of Loan Payment Essay
Annuity Due an annuity due in which all the cash flow occurs at the beginning of each period ( Titman
et al, 2014,p. 167). Annuity dues are payment such as apartment rent payment at the beginning of the
period. The outstanding of the loan information is helpful beyond the professional front. The
outstanding interest rate can be calculated by using the same formula as a present value with a slight
variation. The present outstanding value of the loan = PMT [1 1/ (1+ annual rate of interest/m)
^number of years *m / annual rate of interest/m]. Here, m is a number of times compounding occurred
in the year. Note The book Financial management suggests the balance amount of loan one owes must
be equal to the present value of the remaining loan payment (Titman et all, 2014). The information
regarding the calculation of loan and outstanding loan gave us a fair idea about how the loan financing
occur. Another important aspect learned is how the principle and interest affect the amount of any
loan. This knowledge also brought other factors into consideration such as refinancing mortgage loan
cost. The refinancing cost involves distinct hidden costs such as appraisal fee, legal fee, origination
fee, and application. Hence, if one plan to refinance the loan by getting attracted to lower interest rate.
The refinance must put some extra money aside to pay the refinancing cost.
Future Value of Annuity payment due PMT [(1+ i) ^n 1 / i] (1+ i).

Pollution And Its Effects On The United States
Hazardous Pollution Water Pollution has been an increasing problem over the last few years. Pollution
comes from many different things; agricultural, urban runoff, industrial, sedimentary, animal wastes,
and leeching from landfills/septic systems just to name a few (Resources). The reason why pollution
has increased over the years is because the rise in population and the advancements in technology the
society has made. If society plans on having their resources here for many years to come they are
going to have to make some drastic changes in the way they treat the earth, and these changes will
have to start with their pollutants (Foundation). Tar Pamlico River is one of the many rivers in North
Carolina. It runs one hundred eighty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Home to 10 million hogs, North Carolina is the number two producer of swine in the United States.
Swine produce about ten times the fecal waste of an average human being, resulting in roughly
thirteen million pounds of waste per day from the North Carolina herd (Smith Jernigan). Research has
found that hog and poultry feces and urine are leaking out of open air, unlined cesspools, draining off
the waste disposal fields used by the facilities and polluting the Tar River. Samples have shown that
fifty eight percent of watersheds have shown swine or poultry manure effects (Henderson). In
addition, the large corporations behind this industry will not be liable for mismanagement of animal
waste and the harm it causes public health and the environment. The corporations may own the hogs
and the feed, but they do not take ownership of the waste. The waste, and its liability, becomes the
problem of the contract growers and the state of North Carolina. Until the corporations are held
accountable for externalizing the true cost of their business to the public, hog lagoons and spray fields
will continue to plague eastern North Carolina for a very long time (Foundation). Polluted storm water
runoff, including sediment from poorly maintained construction sites, is the number one reason for
poor water quality in North Carolina. Sediment can cause severe problems for creeks, rivers and
estuaries on which we

Leadership Qualities Of An Effective Leader
Leadership: the definition states that someone in the position of leader, who guides or directs a group.
This definition is hauntingly broad to me. Leadership, I believe, is not an idea that can be defined. It is
instead an exemplary action by a single person whose best interest lies with the betterment of the
group, and not himself. The qualities of an effective leader are apparent in Lord of the Flies. As for an
effective leader in today s society, this essay will analyze the leadership qualities of the Republican
and Democratic front runners in the current political race.
A leader displays great knowledge, great charisma, and unwavering courage. These characteristics are
best shown by Ralph in Lord of the Flies. What makes Ralph such a great leader is the fact that while
he is just a kid, he possesses the maturity to know what needs to be done in order to save them from
being stranded on the island. His first priority is to get the other kids off the island, despite the
temptation to play and enjoy themselves. Credit Piggy as Ralph s advisor, as Piggy clearly shows his
wealth of knowledge throughout the story. Together the two show great knowledge by deciding to
build a signal fire, organizing groups of workers, hunters, and gatherers, and knowing what needs to
be done. Because Ralph truly knows what needs to be done and how it needs to get done, I believe
also displays his charisma. All the children on the island are led to listen to Ralph because he knows

  • 2. College Essay On Lung Cancer Lungs are located in the either side of your chest. When you breathe, air goes through your nose, down your windpipe, and into the lungs where it spreads through tubes called bronchi. Most lung cancer cells begin in the cells that line these tubes. Lung cancer is the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells in one or both lungs (Lungcancer.org). In biology, I learned that a cancer cell is basically a dead cell. The cancer cell is a failed cell, it doesn t work, or it just doesn t reproduce at all. Although researchers found that it takes series of mutation to create a lung cancer cell (Lungcancer.org). Lung cancer takes more lives each year than colon, prostate, ovarian, and breast cancer combined. That s alot of lives that have been taken by this disease, my grandfather including. Although he never smoked, doesn t mean you can still can t be able to get lung cancer. People who smoke, have a higher risk of getting lung cancer. • 3. Primate Observation Within this essay, we will study more in depth the behavioral as well as physical traits of two primates at a zoo from their interaction with their peers to their place in the group. This observation would enable us to further understand the possible existing correlation between humans and primates. First, I studied a female chimpanzee with her baby, and then, a dominant male gorilla, in San Francisco Zoo at about noon, on May 23, 2015, for an hour each. Even though they share some similarities such as having a large brain, living for a long time, and being bored in their enclosure, they are still different; when gorillas are the largest, chimpanzees are the smartest. In fact, chimps use tools to catch food, they would not be able to reach ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, I was able to observe some similarities among these species. The way the female chimp used tools, and her fingers to grab food, how she used to be on her feet, freeing her hands, groom her child, educate her offspring, sleep with him while snuggling, use a lot of face emotions to convey a message to an individual; she smiled at her baby, laughed when playing, and tickling him, remind me of human. She also has a flat pink face, hands palm, and feet sole as humans do. Furthermore, the gorilla was also really human when he protected his eyes from the intense sunrays, following the movement of the sun, and sat in the shade, mated with a female, scratched his head, and bottom, and put his finger in his nose. I think that these humans pattern appeared for similar reasons as in the Primates. For instance, when the gorilla scratches his bottom, it is because the area is itchy, and he wants to remove what is indisposing him. In addition, the mother chimp educates her kid to transmit knowledge throughout generation, which is the same for humans, who go to school. According to my observation, even though Chimpanzee, and Gorilla are similar, they differ in many other ways when we go deeper in physical, and behavioral traits. However, both species also share the majority part of their DNA with Humans. Based on some reliable researches, some scientists realized that humans did not come from apes but instead shared common ancestors. As a matter of fact, humans and Primates are different, but share most of their genome, explaining why we found some similar patterns of behavior among humans, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Ethnic Differences Between Tutsi And Twa Essay Analysis Before the genocide, Rwanda demonstrated three major ethnic categories. Hutu constituted the majority of the population, accounting for some 85% of all native Rwandans. Tutsi and Twa, comprising approximately 14% and 1% of the population respectively, shared Rwanda with the Hutu majority. Between Hutu and Tutsi, there were no major differences in language, religion, or clanship. Traditionally, these ethnic distinctions related to occupation rather than traditional racial categories: The Hutu were generally identified as agriculturalists whereas the Tutsi were usually recognized as herdsmen. Prior to European colonialism and the subsequent issuing of racial identity cards during the 1930s, these identities were flexible Hutu could acquire livestock and Tutsi could practice agriculture. In the early 1900s, Dutch colonialists reorganized Rwandan society on the basis of Tutsi racial superiority. Hutu and Twa were recognized as historically indigenous populations whereas the Tutsi were believed to have migrated from either Ethiopia or the Middle East. Colonialists exaggerated the physical differences between Hutu and Tutsi, often mistakenly incorporating the pigmy Twa into these comparisons. In actuality, these constructed racial classifications were inconsistent and arbitrary. Unable to distinguish consistently between native Hutu and Tutsi, Dutch administrators eventually introduced means tested systems of ethnic recognition, by classifying any person ... This makes sense because as with any other vehicle or asset, the efficiency of the ship drops with age. As it gets older, the carrying value of the ship lowers due to depreciation. Relationship between Charter rates and Ship Price: With one point increase in the Capesize ship index, there is a slight increase in the price of the ship by $0.007 mln. The Capesize ships took like a year to build, and are good for 25 years, after which they are demolished and sold for scrap. This calculation provides a breakdown between cases that can be sold for the full amount of $186 and cases that are designated as seconds, which are sold for 80% of the full price or $148.80. Revenue per case grows continuously as the target fill rate increases. From the blending costs which include $67,662 of active ingredient per 5000 liters, and blending labor of $432 per 5000 liter batch the cost per ounce of medication is approximately $0.40. This provides input for the active ingredient cost. Based on the labor cost of $8.50 per hour at 12 cases per hour, the input for rework cost per case is approximately $0.70 per case. Contribution per case is derived from the revenue minus the costs. The contribution per case is the performance criteria that our decision is based upon. Results A balance between revenue and cost is seen at a target fill rate of 10.4 ounces per bottle. The revenue per case is greater when the bottles are filled to 10.5 ounces; however the resulting increase in the active ingredient cost produces a lower contribution per case. The recommendation is to use a target fill rate of 10.4 ounces per bottle. Initially there will be an increased cost of active ingredients but in the long ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Peloponnesian War Strategy Evolution of Strategy Throughout the Peloponnesian War In the years leading up to the Peloponnesian War, Athens and Sparta formed a successful alliance defending Hellas from a Persian invasion. This alliance dissolved soon after leaving two independent city states in its place. Athens possessed a robust naval force and Sparta possessed a formidable military force. Each possessed unique systems of government and policies that defined markedly different approaches for relationships with their respective allies. These policies shaped the strategies that each city state developed and implemented during the 27 year Peloponnesian War. Sparta s strategy spread risk among its allies, resulting in a positive cost to benefit ratio. In contrast, Athens was incorrect in its initial assessment of Sparta s capability to become a significant threat and that assessment appeared to changed little leading up to the Sicilian expedition. Further, Athens risked and lost a significant percentage of its own resources on the Sicilian expedition rather than spreading the risk across allies as in the Spartan strategy. It is impossible to know if Sparta s initial vision remained present in its strategic planning throughout the war. It is likewise impossible to know whether or not Athens initial assumptions regarding Sparta s future capabilities influenced its future strategic evolution. • 22. The Role of the Double Plot in King Lear and Hamlet Essay King Lear and Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, are two plays that reveal similar thematic elements, yet possess fundamentally different plot structures. Driven by the suffering and rage of two complementary characters, both plays suggest injustice through good , but ultimately flawed characters. This shared overarching theme is, however, conveyed differently within each of the works, as one employs two mainly disparate plot threads, while the other relies more heavily on the interaction between the two central plots. Yet the ultimate purpose of this dualism remains the same within both King Lear and Hamlet, in that Shakespeare s use of the double plot illuminates the tragic elements within both plays, emphasizing core injustices through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This dichotomy between external blames and internal repentance is used by Shakespeare to demonstrate the tragic nature of King Lear from more than one plane, showing how two different personalities respond to two similar fates. In Hamlet however, this clear symmetry is replaced with a more muddled intertwinement. Rather than maintaining two relatively separate plot threads in the journeys of Lear and Gloucester, Shakespeare opts to interweave the motivations and fates of Laertes and Hamlet, using their conflict as the central dynamic, while their parallels take a reduced role. In this sense, while King Lear is driven solely by the dualism of the story, Hamlet relies on the clash of the two plots to suggest injustice. This injustice, through conflict, is shown most prominently in Hamlet s and Laertes duel at the end of the play. Hamlet, describing Laertes as a a very noble youth. (5.1.231), reveals a respect towards his foe that suggests that it is circumstance, not choice, that forces his hand. Similarly, Laertes singular goal, To this point I stand, that both the worlds I give to negligence, let come what comes, only I ll be revenged most thoroughly for my father. (4.5.151 154) shows that his wrath is fueled solely by duty, such that his pursuit of revenge imparts upon him a single minded myopia that drives him inexorably towards the final conflict. Ironically, upon meeting Claudius after hearing of his father s death, Laertes asks How came he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is hard to tell whether Pat is going through hypomania or mania episodes throughout the movie, because it does not say their duration, and it s hard to tell if the movie is a day to day storyline, or skipping multiple days/weeks at a time. However, it is definitely some form of a manic episode a few times throughout the movie. Pat displays multiple periods of irritable moods that consist of goal directed behaviour and energy (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). Pat displays his irritable moods throughout the movie, for example, in the scene where he is searching for his wedding video and becomes agitated quite fast once he realizes he cannot find it. His goal directed behaviour during his episodes is very specific, for example finding his wedding video, it is the middle of the night and he is searching the house frantically for it, Pat even wakes up his parents to help him search their room, study and the attic. • 25. Susan Cain Ted Talk Analysis The Power of This Introvert Susan Cain s Ted Talk The Power Of Introverts brought a new conversation to society in how introverts are treated. Five years ago (when this took place) this topic was not very well discussed, which made this piece very eye opening for some. Using Aristotle s appeals: logos and pathos, as well as a comparative argument in her ted talk, Cain persuades viewers that we as a society oppress/shame introverts, not allowing them to strive or be themselves in our now extroverted society. She advocates for a more balanced society that serves both introverts and extroverts instead of just extroverts. Cain s speech uses pathos to allow the audience to understand how introverts are oppressed in society, and why this is a problem. Cain starts the speech off with an emotionally driven story that demonstrates how she was shamed for her introverted tendencies as a young girl in camp. I got the message that somehow my quiet and introverted style of being was not necessarily the right way to go, that I should be trying to pass as more of an extrovert. This idea that introverts are encouraged and almost forced to be someone they are not is pathos because it persuades the audience through a feeling of injustice and compassion, as well as relatability from fellow introverts. Cain extends this idea as a loss to society as well, stating it is our collegues loss, our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 26. Justness Of Corporal Punishment Since the ancient human times, corporal punishment has been one of the most popular methods parents have used on enforcing their tutelage onto their children. Corporal punishment is defined as the physical punishment that parents use on their children to enforce rules. The act is seen as something of the past in 48 countries around the world, but for Canada. This is because they still have not resolved it in their legal systems, for Canada this law being the infamous Section 43. Even though it was implemented for the protection of parents and teachers from prosecution because of minor disciplining, it really is an excuse for violence against children. In this generation, the justness and effectiveness of corporal punishment have come into question, which is what this writing piece aims to further delve into. While anthropology may not be the most obvious study connected to corporal punishment, the two topics are more related than most people think. As humans, we have a sense of morals and values, and the understanding of our culture s changes is vital to understanding our shift in values. From an anthropological point of view, corporal punishment would be focused on what caused humanity s shift in values when it came to the justness of corporal punishment? . Based on the evidence, the answer to this would be if humanity has a recent change in values when it comes to corporal punishment, then it is because of the recent boost of awareness different cultures have gained in ... • 29. The Value Of Loan Payment Essay Annuity Due an annuity due in which all the cash flow occurs at the beginning of each period ( Titman et al, 2014,p. 167). Annuity dues are payment such as apartment rent payment at the beginning of the period. The outstanding of the loan information is helpful beyond the professional front. The outstanding interest rate can be calculated by using the same formula as a present value with a slight variation. The present outstanding value of the loan = PMT [1 1/ (1+ annual rate of interest/m) ^number of years *m / annual rate of interest/m]. Here, m is a number of times compounding occurred in the year. Note The book Financial management suggests the balance amount of loan one owes must be equal to the present value of the remaining loan payment (Titman et all, 2014). The information regarding the calculation of loan and outstanding loan gave us a fair idea about how the loan financing occur. Another important aspect learned is how the principle and interest affect the amount of any loan. This knowledge also brought other factors into consideration such as refinancing mortgage loan cost. The refinancing cost involves distinct hidden costs such as appraisal fee, legal fee, origination fee, and application. Hence, if one plan to refinance the loan by getting attracted to lower interest rate. The refinance must put some extra money aside to pay the refinancing cost. Swine produce about ten times the fecal waste of an average human being, resulting in roughly thirteen million pounds of waste per day from the North Carolina herd (Smith Jernigan). Research has found that hog and poultry feces and urine are leaking out of open air, unlined cesspools, draining off the waste disposal fields used by the facilities and polluting the Tar River. Samples have shown that fifty eight percent of watersheds have shown swine or poultry manure effects (Henderson). In addition, the large corporations behind this industry will not be liable for mismanagement of animal waste and the harm it causes public health and the environment. The corporations may own the hogs and the feed, but they do not take ownership of the waste. The waste, and its liability, becomes the problem of the contract growers and the state of North Carolina. Leadership, I believe, is not an idea that can be defined. It is instead an exemplary action by a single person whose best interest lies with the betterment of the group, and not himself. The qualities of an effective leader are apparent in Lord of the Flies. As for an effective leader in today s society, this essay will analyze the leadership qualities of the Republican and Democratic front runners in the current political race. A leader displays great knowledge, great charisma, and unwavering courage. These characteristics are best shown by Ralph in Lord of the Flies. His first priority is to get the other kids off the island, despite the temptation to play and enjoy themselves.
