My Homecoming Experience
This past weekend, I was visiting my alma mater (Capital University Columbus, Ohio) for their annual
Homecoming weekend. Like many homecoming events, there was various gatherings of different
organizations, walk through various buildings to relive the past and see new changes, watch the annual
football game, and rekindle with old friends. It was then I began thinking about the various traditions
we had at Capital. One tradition involves a gate which faced Main St (a busy street in the
neighborhood where Capital was located) which had its own special traditions. During orientation,
incoming freshmen would enter through the gate to campus to signify you are entering into a new
community/learning experience and at graduation, your class would walk out of the gate as a sign of
you entering into the world as future leaders with a world class education. The tradition or myth told
was that if you exited out of the gate prior to graduation, you would fail out or if you walked through
the gate holding hands with someone...then you two would get married (not sure if I did followed
through this tradition with Amanda). As you can tell, some these are silly traditions. In the Church, we
also have traditions. Coffee is seen as unnamed sacrament as one of my seminary professors would
say is one example. We are also in the midst of talking about the tradition or legacy of Martin Luther
and the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. We know the story, we hear it every October 31st (you
probably have been hearing it a lot more this previous year). Traditions are good to have, they remind
us of where we come from, especially as a Church. Next year, Bethany will be honoring our 125th
anniversary, something many churches do not have the opportunity to celebrate. Yet sometimes,
traditions become a double edged sword. When we consider traditions, we sometimes become too
fearful to try or experience something new or different. We have always done it that way, tends to be a
popular response in churches with various things which are seen as traditions. If we add this new
thing, it will take away from the worshiping experience or I will more distant from God. Yet, it doesn t
take long for something to be seen as a tradition (when you

The Life Of Margaret Sanger And Planned Motherhood
Imagine finding yourself pregnant at the age of 30 with your ninth child. You live in a small apartment
and you are unable to feed all of the members of your large family, also clueless as to how to prevent
future pregnancies. This story would not be too far from reality for many women over a hundred years
ago. It is also similar in ways to the life of Margaret Sanger, a women s rights activist who is
responsible for the family planning movement that started birth control. Margaret Sanger s mother had
11 children and 18 pregnancies, that definitely took a destructive toll on her body, and she died at only
46 years old (Yasunari 2000). Margaret took notice of what happened to her mother and many other
women, inspiring her to make it her life s work to help women have more control over their bodies
and families. Margaret s work grew famous for the beginning of a birth control movement and the
later creation of Planned Parenthood, but it also has a sometimes dark side of eugenics. She went to
college to be a nurse and treated many women who continued to have children, even though they were
wishing to prevent pregnancies. Margaret saw a correlation between impoverished struggling families
and having a large number of children. Margaret referred to women being slaves to their bodies and
involuntary motherhood, and also that by age 35, motherhood often exhausted women s bodies
(Katzive 2015). She also probably noticed how desperate some women were to prevent pregnancies.

Our experiences have taught us to accept what is our reality based on the interpretation of information
from our five senses which most of us, end up living as the fullness of our existence. There are those
of us who at some point throughout our lives, do question our purpose on this earth but manage
however, to distract ourselves with a continuous barrage of external stimuli therefore, do not summon
the courage or determination to explore the inner reality of our unseen existence. Believe it or not,
most of us go through our lives on automation, like robots really reacting to situations in predictable

Cause Of The Mexican American War
The Mexican American war, also known as the Mexican war happened between 1846 and 1848 with
the participants being United States of America and Mexico. Texas, previously a Mexican state, was
the primary cause of the war. A series of disagreements had occurred between Texans and the Mexican
government leading to Texas declaration of its independence in 1836. Later, Texas decided to join the
United States as the 28th state and this infuriated Mexico. Additionally, border disagreements came up
with Mexico claiming the border was at Nueces River while Texas claimed it was at Rio Grande
River. James K. Polk, the president, sent his army to protect the border which ended up in shooting
between Mexican and American troops. It is after this that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This treaty granted Texas independence from Mexico. Regardless of this, Mexico and Texas still
fought over border lines which brewed negative stereotype of the Mexicans from Americans. Later,
Texas joined the United States, and this idea angered Mexico. Border disputes forced both countries to
send their troops to enforce the border lines, a standoff followed. A clash between the armies in 1846
led to the commencement of the war.
How it played out
The Mexican American war was a conventional conflict battled y traditional armies made up of
cavalry and artillery that were mostly European war tactics. The American s managed to penetrate
Mexican land which resorted to using guerrilla warfare as a defence strategy when the Americans
penetrated their territory. After the hostilities began, the U.S. military embarked on a three pronged
tactic that was designed to capture Northern Mexico forcing them to retaliate. Two groups of
American militaries went to southern Texas, and the third troop led by Colonel Kearny embarked to
the western region New Mexico. General Zachary s army defeated the Mexican military after a series
of battles in De Palma necessitating them to move to the south to gain more victory over the
Mexicans. The seizure of Monterey and Los Angeles by the U.S. Navy granted them a second victory.

Analysis Of Tim Burton s The Brilliant Joker Essay
It is easy to empathize with Jack Nicholson s brilliant Joker as he laments in Tim Burton s classic
1989 film, Batman, Where does he get those wonderful toys? The average person may not be
villainously inclined, but one can certainly relate to having their best laid plans constantly being
thwarted. Though, to be fair, probably very few people would take issue with someone as awesome as
the Batman getting in their way. Despite being a mere mortal, Batman and his fellow graphic novel
heroes serve as present day gods akin to the ancient Greek gods of Rome. There are a great many
things that set Batman apart from his colleagues, however; chief among them are his tragic origin
story, the best villains in modern literature, his total lack of superpowers, wealth, and endless
interpretations.
Everyone loves a good origin story. Superman s parents are killed in the explosion of their home
planet, Krypton, and spare him from the same fate by shipping him off to earth on a spacecraft. Spider
Man, who was already living with his aunt and uncle because his parents died while he was still a
child, witnesses his beloved uncle Ben die in front of his eyes at the hands of a thief. Yet Batman s
origin tale easily surpasses both in terms of flair for the dramatic. As a child, young Bruce Wayne is
walking with his parents, Thomas and Martha, through an alley after having left a screening of the
Mark of Zorro. Gunmen seeking to steal Martha s exposed pearls approach the family. An altercation

The Trump Hotel Collection, a string of luxury hotel properties tied to business magnate and now

The Trump Organization just acknowledged the issue with a brief statement from Eric Trump,

In March, upscale hotel chainMandarin Oriental disclosed a compromise. The following month, hotel
franchising firmWhite Lodging acknowledged that, for the second time in 12 months, card processing
systems at several of its locations were breached by hackers.
It is likely that the huge number of card breaches at U.S. based organizations over the past year
represents a response by fraudsters to upcoming changes in the United States designed to make credit
and debit cards more difficult and expensive to counterfeit. Non chip cards store cardholder data on a
magnetic stripe, which can be trivially copied and re encoded onto virtually anything else with a
magnetic stripe.
Magnetic stripe based cards are the primary target for hackers who have been breaking into retailers

valuable to crooks because it can be sold to thieves who encode the information onto new plastic and

The Coca Cola Corporation is an American Icon of business that has established a new direction for
American Industry operations in the 20th century. According to Moxley (2002), Beginning with its
invention in 1886 by druggist John Doc Pemberton in Atlanta, the development of the product is

Income Statement An income statement is a financial statement that measures a company s financial
performance over a specific accounting period. Financial performance is assessed by giving a
summary of how the business incurs its revenues and expenses through both operating and non
operating activities. The purpose of the income statement is to show managers and investors whether
the company made or lost money during the period being reported. From the income statement we can
do a ratio analysis of the company. Below are ratios relevant to Coca Cola.
Ratio Analysis
The price to earnings share ratio is a valuation ratio of a company s current share price compared to its
per share earnings. For example, if a company is currently trading at $43 a share and earnings over the
last 12 months were $1.95 per share, the P/E ratio for the stock would be 22.05 ($43/$1.95).
(Investopedia, 2011)
The P/E ratio for Coca Cola is 12.39. (Yahoo Finance, 2011) This ratio indicates that the company s
stock price is currently trading at 12 and a third of its current earnings. Considering the relative

We can therefore conclude that the bargaining power of suppliers and bargaining power of buyers are
relatively high in all the 3 countries. Koyo goods are all being manufactured in China now; giving the
suppliers the upper hand. Apart from well established brands, new entrants are also possible
with/without substitute such Cargos and Jeans, therefore increasing the competition for Koyo. ii.
PESTEL of Koyo Jeans (Currents Markets)
From analyzing the 3 current markets of Koyo (Appendix B), we can conclude that Koyo has been
focusing on the Asian market, more specifically Asia Pacific. We have to consider the fact that Koyo
is a fairly new player and therefore has not taken many farfetched risks. Even though it has a market
in France; if we look deeper we can see that it has only one store there. iii. Internal Factors
With the help of the Value Chain (Appendix D), we are able to conclude that Cheung was able to add
value to the company in 3 key regions which in turn increased the profit margin. Quality textile was
sourced from Taiwan at very competitive prices. The operations were streamlined and bettered over

Papal Infallibility Of The Catholic Church
The Catholic Church is One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic. The church is Apostolic for a variety of
reasons. Without this mark of the Church, there would be no church officials responsible for
continuing the works of Jesus Christ and the twelve Apostles. Being Apostolic allows the church to
pass authority to its leaders, and teachings on from generation to generation. The Catholic Church is
Apostolic, and many of its attributes are related or reflect this mark of the Church. The word apostolic
means of or relating to the apostles, or in some cases of or relating to the pope, because he is the
successor of Saint Peter. The Church is apostolic because it was founded by the apostles who were
chosen by Christ and sent on a mission by Him. Another ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

To Kill A Mockingbird Mood Analysis
At times in life, you go through many things that you never knew you would have to experience. You
usually don t know what it feels like to do something until you actually do it. In the book, To Kill a
Mockingbird , Scout is a little girl growing up in an environment filled with cruelty. This is because of
how colored people were treated. Also, she would see how other people were like but she didn t truly
understand what it is like to be those people. Than she learns that you don t know something until you
re in it s place. In the book, To Kill a Mockingbird , you can find many literary elements. Some of
them are the setting, characters, and mood.
In like manner, setting is an literary element that you can find in the scene that Scout discovers that

Mood contributes to the book because at some point in the book, it can be such a happy moment but
than it can just turn into a sad moment. This is something that colored people faced a lot back in those
days and even in the book. For example, on chapter 25, it saids A crowd of black children were
playing marbles in Tom s front yard. A little girl grinned ear to ear. Sam was trotting behind his
mother when they came up. Dill said Helen said, evenin , Mr. Finch, won t you have a seat? But se
didn t say any more. Neither did Atticus. Scout said Dill, she just fell down in the dirt, Just fell down
in the dirt, like a giant with a nig foot just came along and stepped on her .This shows us that it was
just a normal day for Tom s family. The kids were playing and the family was together. They may
have had worries over Tom but they were happy until Atticus gave them the news. This was about
Tom being dead. That is when the whole mood of the story just changes from being normal to a dark

Bronchoalveolar lavage and transbronchial biopsy are more likely to provide bacteriologic
confirmation, and granulomas are evident in liver or bone marrow biopsy specimens from many
patients. If it goes unrecognized, miliary TB is lethal; with proper early treatment, however, it is
amenable to cure. The following criteria have been proposed for the diagnose of miliary TB6: (1)
clinical presentation consistent with the diagnosis of TB like pyrexia with evening rise of temperature,
night sweats, anorexia and weight loss of greater than 6weeks in duration responding to
antituberculosis treatment; (2) typical miliary pattern on hest radiograph; (3) bilateral, diffuse
reticulonodular lung lesions on a background of miliary shadows demonstrable either on chest

causes of pulmonary eosinophilia include miliary tuberculosis, Wegner granulomatosis, sarcoidosis

Pete Docter Up Analysis
In the film, Up , directed by Pete Docter, an important idea is change. This important idea is shown
through Docter s use of dialogue, medium shot and dramatic soundtrack. This idea is important and
relevant to society today because it teaches us to accept any changes that may occur and to make the
most of the time available to you.
Up is a film about an old widower, Carl Fredricksen, following his promise he had with Ellie, Carl s
partner, of going to the forbidden Paradise Falls and to see his idol, Charles Muntz, who turns out to
be disgraced. Carl embarks on his journey to the South America wilderness in the balloon powered
house of his own invention. But Carl s worst nightmare comes true when he discovers a young
adventuresome wilderness explorer , Russell is also aboard the balloon house. After they faced many
challenges, Carl finally gets to the top of Paradise Falls.
This idea of change is shown through Docter s use of medium shot. An example of this is when Carl
hits the construction guy on his head with the walking stick. Docter uses these techniques to show us
that Carl changes after Ellie die he becomes bitter and careless. His purpose in ... Show more content

An example of this is when Carl says I give you this the greatest honour bestowed upon an explorer;
the Ellie s badge . Docter uses this technique to show us that Carl s attitude towards his home and life

teaching us about this idea was to help us better understand that Carl has changed so far since the
death of Ellie Carl shrinks his negative attitudes toward the world and the people around him. He used
to snub Russell but now he treats Russell like his own grandson. This idea is still relevant today
because it teaches us that at some point in your life you need to accept new people as they usually will

Understanding of Identity in Samuel P. Huntington s Clash...
The word identity inspired many writers in our contemporary world, toarticulate their ideas and state
their suggestions in a way to find a precise definition for such a word, especially where the
globalization has become a fact which produces with it many effectual consequences. Some writers
had linked Identity with the original culture to which a person may belong, others dealt with it as a
changing factor transformed according to every ones status, however a third category characterized the
Identity from another angel in view of religious or ideological background. Huntington being one of
the leading writers in this sphere has imagined a future world witnesses a clash of
civilizations.According to his categorizationfrom a cultural perspective however; the world shall be
divided into eight civilizations. This essay shall shed a light into the different understandings of
theidentity and culture as in relation to Islam and the West having reference to different arguments and
visions presented in the following scholarly sources.
Samuel P. Huntington in his book The Clash of Civilizations has predicted that the source of conflict
in the new world shall not be ideological or primarily economic, as the great divisions among
humankind and dominating source of conflict shall be cultural.Although nation states will remain to
be the most powerful actors in world affairs, yet the principal conflict of global politics will occur
between nations and groups of different

The Four Muscles Of The Respiratory System
The respiratory system involves several muscles that contribute to inhalation and exhalation. Muscles
of exhalation are mainly located throughout the abdominal region and can be categorized by primary
and secondary muscles. There are four primary muscles of exhalation the external oblique, internal
oblique, transverse abdominus, and rectus abdominus; also referred to as the abdominal wall muscles.
The external oblique is the largest and strongest abdominal muscle in the body. Next the internal
oblique although it s not visible to the eye, in order to view it the external oblique and rectus
abdominus must be removed. Following we have the transverse abdominus which is the deepest of the
abdominal muscles. Lastly and most popular the rectus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are three unique muscles which serve a dual process, the internal intercostals, lateral iliocostalis
thoracic, and latissimus dorsi. They all keep their same origin and insertion points but differ by
functions. They elevate the ribs and rib cage during inhalation and also depress the ribs and rib cage
during exhalation. Another muscle is the lateral iliocostalis lumborum also works with the lateral
iliocostalis thoracis to stabilize the back ribcage. Next the serratus posterior inferior is v shaped and is
found further down the spinous process, and helps with muscle rotation. Another word for serratus is
jagged. The next muscle is the transverse thoracic it look like legs of a spider but separates the
thoracic cage. Second to last are the subcostals and these muscles resemble the internal intercostals
but may skip one or more ribs. Finally the quadratus lumborum can be seen only when the abdominal
contents have been removed. Although some of these muscles are different in origin and insertion
points there functions play a major role during exhalation in which they pull down on the rib cage in
order to reduce air

Corporate Capacity And Authority
Corporate capacity and authority were essential legal concepts which contained rules for when and
how a company ought to be legally recognised as having validly acted and entered into a binding
contract with third parties. Broadly speaking, the rules which applied to corporate capacity were the
ultra vires doctrine and the doctrine of constructive notice. In regard to the concept of corporate
authority, both the ultra vires doctrine and the doctrine of constructive notice also applied however
their application was curtailed by the Turquand rule. The Turquand rule therefore only applied when
the authority of directors was in question. A definitional overview of the concepts of corporate
capacity and authority will be provided below, along with brief description of the doctrine of
constructive notice and the Turquand rule. The thesis deals with the above concepts and discusses how
the Companies Act 71 of 2008 (the Act) modified the law, particularly, by extending the legal capacity
of a company and extinguishing or modifying the above rules which had previously restricted a
company s ability ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For a company to transact with third parties and to enter into valid business dealings there must be a
valid contract concluded in order to create legally binding obligations enforceable between the
company and the third party. For a contract to be valid the company must have the requisite legal
capacity to enter into the contract and the directors or officers representing the company must have the
authority to act on its behalf. Within company law, capacity and authority are interrelated principles
however it is important to note that each is an entirely different and separate legal concept from the
other. Capacity relates to the legal competency and the powers of the company while authority relates

Intention And Relativism
Intention, Free will, and Moral relativism
Intention is the heart of every action. It puts value and meaning in our day to day action. In the two
main theory that we covered in class, morality of obligation and morality of Happiness, Intention is
central in both views. Intention help us evaluate our morality. It also comes under the bigger topic of
free action. In the book Mattison state, All free action is intentional, but not all intentional action is
free. (p. 48) I also hold this view because as long as we know what we are doing its intentional, but if
it is an action that is under duress than the action is not done with the free participation of the
individual. Free action is action where the individual understands the meaning and the ... Show more

I found moral relativism to be very interesting. I often hear some people saying statements like they
do not have the same value as ours. Most of the time what is impeded in this statement is that their
way of life and morality is better or superior than the others. I think you will find your answer when
you travel around the globe and meet people of many culture. You will see the goodness every culture
has. The father who is raising his daughters in refugee camps or the missionary that left her luxury life
to help the poor or the child who speaks with respect to his elders are all living a moral life. They may
not be all doing for the same reason, but I think it s just one coin but different sides. We humans long
for goodness. I will like to conclude my reflection with a verse from the Quran, We will ease him
toward ease. (Quran, 92:7) In this verse Allah is good action to be ease, and he will guide his servants
towards this ease, and by nature doing evil is hard. This concept agrees with Aristotelian view that the
happy life is what we all desire and want, and when we pursue evil we are acting against our personal
interest and it s indeed hard and most of the time we have to battle personal

Andrew Kennedy s Article On Credibility Of The Author
Article No.: 4
Credibility of the author:
The author of this source is Chloe Kennedy, a regarded journalist with over 650 articles written
spanning over 16 years. Within this vast experience, she has worked for numerous publications, with
the City Messenger, the Leader Messenger, The Advertiser, the News Review Messenger and the
Standard Messenger being some of the few. Being so widely read, it is likely that this will increase the
reliability of her work; mistakes are less likely where a reputation may be implicated. However,
though the City Messenger appears to be a legitimate newspaper, by nature such articles may not
always be fully reliable, and this must be taken into consideration. As no more information could be

Opposing opinion was that residential heritage properties were of the high value that their owners had
paid a premium to secure.
Heritage buildings have higher capital growth than newer properties, as they are not competitors of
newer developments.
Most heritage listed homes should achieve an increase in value, provided they are well maintained.
Residents themselves consider a listed home to be of higher value, and want to see their homes and
other heritage homes preserved.
However, possible decreases in value as a result of development prohibition could also stem from
heritage legislation.
Any loss in value because of listing could be offset by grants from the government available
specifically for this purpose.
Evaluation of information:
This article s primary sources are the opinions of government candidates, and it provides no evidence
as to the validity of these statements, other than corroboration between the four men. As such, it has
unsubstantiated opinion, a detriment to reliability.
Although the amount of research conducted is valid to the nature of the source, it is insufficient for in
depth study purposes. There are no official studies or other valid sources used in this article and a
bibliography, naturally, is not provided.
The arguments are concluded well from the information that is presented, and it carries

Symbolism In Luke Chandler s A Painted House
A Painted House A Painted House, it is a congenial, suspenseful read filled with racism, murder, and
stories. This is an amazing novel based in 1952, but is it actually about a painted house? That is the
title. Well, yes though it is more symbolic than simple. The protagonist, Luke Chandler (age 7) lives
on a cotton farm in Black Oak with his parents and grandparents. The house they live in has never
been painted. That means something in rural Arkansas. This novel barely mentions a painted house
until nearing the end. It actually almost seems insignificant to the plot unless you analyze how the
characters are feeling. The Chandlers are one of the few people in their town with an unpainted house.
One of the antagonists Hank Spruill mocked ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The whole point of the book is to paint the house or rather, to show how the different characters felt.
In addition, with the plot of the book, In do not think that there are many other possibilities. One
alternative could be The Boy Who Saw it All or The Boy Who Saw Too Much . Those are particularly
straightforward. Those titles are highly intriguing. However, they are not as plausible. The last couple
of chapters are profusely focused on painting the house and working for the money to afford the paint
was less significant, I think that those titles would be fitting. With a title like A Painted House, it
makes you want to read more. You would probably be thinking that It cannot simply be about a

delayed hypersensitivity reaction. Roving T cells contact the allergen, setting in motion a more
prolonged immune response. This type of allergic response may develop over several days following

Ambiguity In The Secret Sharer
On Joseph Conrad s the Secret Sharer Joseph Conrad s the Secret Sharer , is one of the most widely
read and critically acclaimed work s of Conrad. The reason of this success is its peculiar ambiguity.
This story is narrated in the first person, and with the use of this method, the reader is constantly kept
in the consciousness of the nameless narrator and remain there for the entire of the story which makes
it the reader s responsibility and at the same time gives the freedom to the reader to delve deep, and
figure out the meaning of the story. The ambiguity of this story is built around Leggatt, a fugitive who

captain, and confesses that he has committed a murder weeks ago, and jumped off the ship and swam

appealed to me as if our experiences had been as identical as our clothes. This striking physical
resemblance, and overwhelming empathy between these two has led some critics to believe that
Leggatt is only a figment of imagination of the young captain who feels a stranger on his own ship and

A Young Man s Folly Short Summary
Sadly, not all marriages have good endings. This could be caused by several reasons, such as falling
out of love, neglect, or lack of communication. The latter is the main cause of the short story A Young
Man s Folly by Susan Michalicka. The story revolves around a modern family, where a boy tries to
deal with the loss of his father leaving him. Michalicka conveys the message of: Sometimes when you
re chasing something, you lose sight of what is really important very well through the use of conflict,
characterization and symbolism.
Conflict was used effectively in the short story to reveal the theme of the story. The boy has an
internal conflict about which parent to stay with, and because his father left, he seemed to have
favored him. He wanted him back so badly that every night, he watches him on the six o clock news
while wearing his old jackets. He was blinded by his father s sudden departure that he forgot about
what is really important. Additionally, another development in the short story s conflict has been used
effectively to reveal the theme. When the boy went to Macdonald s to see his father s true colors, he
thought: I finished my drink quickly, thankful that he had to be back in the studio for the news. By the
time he saw his dad for the first time in a while, he knew he was not the man he thought he was. At
that moment, he also realized that he lost sight of what he had all this time: His mother s unconditional
love. If it wasn t for the characterization of

Differences Between Narnia Book And Movie
The differences between book and movie, we think that the story of four children who go to live with
an older man (a professor) in order to get away from the air raids that are occurring at home due to the
war. The film begins with Lucy telling the others about Narnia and the wardrobe, and the events in
Narnia with Mr. Tumnus are shown as a flashback. In the book, these events are shown before she tells
everyone about them. The characters of Mrs. Macready, Father Christmas and the Giant Rumblebuffin
are cut. (Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy appear to enter the wardrobe on their own, and Aslan gives
them their gifts when they reach the Stone Table. However, Father Christmas is mentioned, and the
jingle bells of his sled are heard.) Maugrim s name is changed to Fenris Ulf, like in the old American
Version of the chronicles. While they are staying with the professor, they find a wardrobe in an empty
room that leads them to another world called Narnia. The four children enter Narnia and free it from
the spell that the white witch has cast upon it and in the process they become kings and queens of
Narnia. There are several differences in the movie that are not present in the book, but they are very
minor and do not change the story. For instance, when the white ... Show more content on

of the story. Overall, I was very impressed with the movie and it was very true to the book. I have seen

  • 3. My Homecoming Experience This past weekend, I was visiting my alma mater (Capital University Columbus, Ohio) for their annual Homecoming weekend. Like many homecoming events, there was various gatherings of different organizations, walk through various buildings to relive the past and see new changes, watch the annual football game, and rekindle with old friends. It was then I began thinking about the various traditions we had at Capital. One tradition involves a gate which faced Main St (a busy street in the neighborhood where Capital was located) which had its own special traditions. During orientation, incoming freshmen would enter through the gate to campus to signify you are entering into a new community/learning experience and at graduation, your class would walk out of the gate as a sign of you entering into the world as future leaders with a world class education. The tradition or myth told was that if you exited out of the gate prior to graduation, you would fail out or if you walked through the gate holding hands with someone...then you two would get married (not sure if I did followed through this tradition with Amanda). As you can tell, some these are silly traditions. In the Church, we also have traditions. Coffee is seen as unnamed sacrament as one of my seminary professors would say is one example. We are also in the midst of talking about the tradition or legacy of Martin Luther and the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. We know the story, we hear it every October 31st (you probably have been hearing it a lot more this previous year). Traditions are good to have, they remind us of where we come from, especially as a Church. Next year, Bethany will be honoring our 125th anniversary, something many churches do not have the opportunity to celebrate. Yet sometimes, traditions become a double edged sword. When we consider traditions, we sometimes become too fearful to try or experience something new or different. We have always done it that way, tends to be a popular response in churches with various things which are seen as traditions. If we add this new thing, it will take away from the worshiping experience or I will more distant from God. Yet, it doesn t take long for something to be seen as a tradition (when you ... • 4. The Life Of Margaret Sanger And Planned Motherhood Imagine finding yourself pregnant at the age of 30 with your ninth child. You live in a small apartment and you are unable to feed all of the members of your large family, also clueless as to how to prevent future pregnancies. This story would not be too far from reality for many women over a hundred years ago. It is also similar in ways to the life of Margaret Sanger, a women s rights activist who is responsible for the family planning movement that started birth control. Margaret Sanger s mother had 11 children and 18 pregnancies, that definitely took a destructive toll on her body, and she died at only 46 years old (Yasunari 2000). Margaret took notice of what happened to her mother and many other women, inspiring her to make it her life s work to help women have more control over their bodies and families. Margaret s work grew famous for the beginning of a birth control movement and the later creation of Planned Parenthood, but it also has a sometimes dark side of eugenics. She went to college to be a nurse and treated many women who continued to have children, even though they were wishing to prevent pregnancies. Margaret saw a correlation between impoverished struggling families and having a large number of children. Margaret referred to women being slaves to their bodies and involuntary motherhood, and also that by age 35, motherhood often exhausted women s bodies (Katzive 2015). She also probably noticed how desperate some women were to prevent pregnancies. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nerak Ami What Is Religion Analysis What is Spirituality By Nerak Ami Jul 28, 2011 Our experiences have taught us to accept what is our reality based on the interpretation of information from our five senses which most of us, end up living as the fullness of our existence. There are those of us who at some point throughout our lives, do question our purpose on this earth but manage however, to distract ourselves with a continuous barrage of external stimuli therefore, do not summon the courage or determination to explore the inner reality of our unseen existence. • 6. Cause Of The Mexican American War The Mexican American war, also known as the Mexican war happened between 1846 and 1848 with the participants being United States of America and Mexico. Texas, previously a Mexican state, was the primary cause of the war. A series of disagreements had occurred between Texans and the Mexican government leading to Texas declaration of its independence in 1836. Later, Texas decided to join the United States as the 28th state and this infuriated Mexico. Additionally, border disagreements came up with Mexico claiming the border was at Nueces River while Texas claimed it was at Rio Grande River. James K. Polk, the president, sent his army to protect the border which ended up in shooting between Mexican and American troops. It is after this that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This treaty granted Texas independence from Mexico. Regardless of this, Mexico and Texas still fought over border lines which brewed negative stereotype of the Mexicans from Americans. Later, Texas joined the United States, and this idea angered Mexico. Border disputes forced both countries to send their troops to enforce the border lines, a standoff followed. A clash between the armies in 1846 led to the commencement of the war. How it played out The Mexican American war was a conventional conflict battled y traditional armies made up of cavalry and artillery that were mostly European war tactics. The American s managed to penetrate Mexican land which resorted to using guerrilla warfare as a defence strategy when the Americans penetrated their territory. After the hostilities began, the U.S. military embarked on a three pronged tactic that was designed to capture Northern Mexico forcing them to retaliate. Two groups of American militaries went to southern Texas, and the third troop led by Colonel Kearny embarked to the western region New Mexico. General Zachary s army defeated the Mexican military after a series of battles in De Palma necessitating them to move to the south to gain more victory over the Mexicans. • 8. Analysis Of Tim Burton s The Brilliant Joker Essay It is easy to empathize with Jack Nicholson s brilliant Joker as he laments in Tim Burton s classic 1989 film, Batman, Where does he get those wonderful toys? The average person may not be villainously inclined, but one can certainly relate to having their best laid plans constantly being thwarted. Though, to be fair, probably very few people would take issue with someone as awesome as the Batman getting in their way. Despite being a mere mortal, Batman and his fellow graphic novel heroes serve as present day gods akin to the ancient Greek gods of Rome. There are a great many things that set Batman apart from his colleagues, however; chief among them are his tragic origin story, the best villains in modern literature, his total lack of superpowers, wealth, and endless interpretations. Everyone loves a good origin story. Superman s parents are killed in the explosion of their home planet, Krypton, and spare him from the same fate by shipping him off to earth on a spacecraft. Spider Man, who was already living with his aunt and uncle because his parents died while he was still a child, witnesses his beloved uncle Ben die in front of his eyes at the hands of a thief. Yet Batman s origin tale easily surpasses both in terms of flair for the dramatic. As a child, young Bruce Wayne is walking with his parents, Thomas and Martha, through an alley after having left a screening of the Mark of Zorro. Gunmen seeking to steal Martha s exposed pearls approach the family. An altercation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In March, upscale hotel chainMandarin Oriental disclosed a compromise. The following month, hotel franchising firmWhite Lodging acknowledged that, for the second time in 12 months, card processing systems at several of its locations were breached by hackers. It is likely that the huge number of card breaches at U.S. based organizations over the past year represents a response by fraudsters to upcoming changes in the United States designed to make credit and debit cards more difficult and expensive to counterfeit. Non chip cards store cardholder data on a magnetic stripe, which can be trivially copied and re encoded onto virtually anything else with a magnetic stripe. Magnetic stripe based cards are the primary target for hackers who have been breaking into retailers like Target and Home Depot and installing malicious software on the cash registers: The data is quite valuable to crooks because it can be sold to thieves who encode the information onto new plastic and go shopping at big box stores for stuff they can easily resell for cash (think high dollar gift cards and ... Financial performance is assessed by giving a summary of how the business incurs its revenues and expenses through both operating and non operating activities. The latter is the main cause of the short story A Young Man s Folly by Susan Michalicka. The story revolves around a modern family, where a boy tries to deal with the loss of his father leaving him. Michalicka conveys the message of: Sometimes when you re chasing something, you lose sight of what is really important very well through the use of conflict, characterization and symbolism. Conflict was used effectively in the short story to reveal the theme of the story. The boy has an internal conflict about which parent to stay with, and because his father left, he seemed to have favored him. He wanted him back so badly that every night, he watches him on the six o clock news while wearing his old jackets. He was blinded by his father s sudden departure that he forgot about what is really important. Additionally, another development in the short story s conflict has been used effectively to reveal the theme. When the boy went to Macdonald s to see his father s true colors, he thought: I finished my drink quickly, thankful that he had to be back in the studio for the news.
