Batteries, Resistance And Current Lab Report
PHYS 1112/2212 spring 2016
LAB #9
Batteries, Resistance and Current
Introduction: Voltage can be thought of as the pressure pushing charges along a conductor, while the
electrical resistance of a conductor is a measure of how difficult it is to push the charges along. Using
the flow analogy, electrical resistance is similar to friction. For water flowing through a pipe, a long
narrow pipe provides more resistance to the flow than does a short fat pipe. The same applies for
flowing currents: long thin wires provide more resistance than do short thick wires. The resistance (R)
of a material depends on its length, cross sectional area, and the resistivity (the Greek letter rho), a
number that depends on the material. The resistivity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Emma And Her Father Essay
Emma and her father
Little information is given about Emma s mother, who has died when she were a child. After her sister
married and left Heartfield, Emma has developed a rare and close relationship with her father, which
is the main source for Emma s sense of independence and control. Therefore, with the mother gone,
similar to Emma in temperament and talent, Emma lost the sole person who had a position of control
over her. As demonstrated by Mr. Knightley s observation: ever since she was twelve, Emma has been
mistress of the house and of you all. In her mother she lost the only person able to cope with her. She
inherits her mother s talents, and must have been under subjection to her (48).
Therefore, Emma is not under subjection to Mr. Woodhouse, as we are told He could not meet her in
conversation, rational or playful (24). His peculiarities, and proclivity to excessive hypochondria a
nervous man, easily depressed (5), allow Emma to develop a relationship of dependency with the

Indeed, Emma diminishes any reason for marrying. As Emma explains to Harriet, she has fortune
enough to support herself for the rest of her life; thus she need not seek financial gain from marriage.
As far as love goes, Emma realizes that her relationship with her father is rare, and the entire second
half of Emma s statement reflects upon their relationship. First, Emma explains that in her relationship
with her father, she has independence in that she is a true mistress of Hartfield. Second, she explains
that she has love and respect with her father; she is always beloved and

Music Therapy In Steve Mencher´s Music And The Brain
Music has always been present in people s lives in various forms, shaping and remolding the ways that
our brains process and function. Because music resonates so deeply with people, it can be used for
various types of physical and mental therapy. Alicia Clair, professor of music education and music
therapy at the University of Kansas, helps research and unitize music as a method of therapy. She is
most widely recognized for her research towards the affect of music on those with Alzheimer s
disease.
In this episode of Steve Mencher s podcast Music and the Brain, he discusses the benefits of music
therapy, specifically on patients with Alzheimer s and Post Traumatic Stress with guest Alicia Clair.

it can cause a family to go through. I also believe very strongly in the connections that people can
make, maintain, or repair through the help of music. Since the most painful part of Alzheimer s, in my
opinion, is helplessly watching your relative forget who you are, the maintenance of those connections
is incredibly important. Some of my most visceral memories are associated with the music I listened
to with my family when I was a child. Listening to music from my childhood not only triggers
memories in my brain, but also sensory and emotional memories that resonate in a different part of my

Analysis Of Hurston s The Sea Tempest
Dialect can be characterized as verbalized variant of the dialect , having perceived attributes. It has a
local and frequently class dialect with the particular utilization of lexicon, grammar, and
elocution.Dialect not just avails the per user to visually perceive what day and age, district ,culture, etc.
the character originate from yet the utilization of dialect supplementally makes the characters in the
novel appear to be genuine; they get to be distinctly plausible.
Hurston utilizes dialect to bring the story and adscititious the characters to life. In the wake of making
some underlying alterations as a per utilize to get comfortable with the dialect, perusers feel as though
they were genuinely a component of the activity. It is paramount that the dialect utilized as a
component of the novel is more homogeneous to a Southern vernacular, as opposed to an African
American dialect. Not just do Janie, Tea Cake, and their companions have comparative discourse
designs, adscititious the gatekeepers who charge Tea Cake after the sea tempest verbalize in an
equipollent dialect. Hurston s nature with the dialect of the South empowers her to precisely delineate
the dialect of the locale. Ah see you is. Gal, you sho looks good. This quote taken from page four of
the book. The reader can optically discern from the way they verbalize that they are more than likely
uneducated and have a southern magnetize to their intonation. Subsequently, the dialect establishes

Losing Weight For Wrestlers
Losing Weight for Wrestlers Are you a wrestler that needs to lose weight? Here s some easy and
effective ways. Losing weight fast might be hard, but there are a few tricks that can make it a breeze.
Exercise is one of the quickest and easiest ways to lose weight; and it s favorable to you. If you re
exercising at practice, raise the temperature in the room. This will get you sweating more. Another
way to obtain more sweat is to wear sweats and a sweatshirt (possibly multiple if you need to shed
many pounds) and tape the ends of them to lock in the heat. Also, keep the hood up. During the weigh
in days, cut the water. Although you will be dying for some h2o, resist the temptation. But, after you
weigh in, make sure to rehydrate all the water you lost during practice. Dehydration is the last thing

white meat. Instead of going for those salty, greasy french fries, pick the sweet potato fries; they are
high in fiber and have an excellent source of vitamin A. Have a craving for a nice bowl of double

Reflection In William Golding s Lord Of The Flies
A similar situation is recorded in the Collins s work, where she employs simple however harsh words
to display the scenes in the readers eyes. I don t watch, but I can hear the snarls, the growls, the howls
of pain from both human and beast as Cato takes on the mutt pack. page 337. This short passage paints
a clear image of the horrific scene. Via terms such as pain , snarls , growls the author is able to bring
life to her story. The tone is another substantial particularity of novelists ways of writing. Despite
discussing similar theme, both authors employ divergent tones while unfolding their stories. Indeed,
while writing his literary piece William Golding s tones vary from a tedious to a dreadful tone, from a

William Golding as well as Suzanne Collins makes use of various symbolism in their work. Indeed,
the latter are used to convey the important message these prominent playwrights desire to share with
their various audiences. In Lord of the Flies, the beast symbolizes evil. Thus, in order to survive the
present darkness which is roaming around on the island, the boys look up to Jack for help. He portrays
safety in the eyes of the younger children. Therefore, Jack has the complete trust of the younger kids
because he knows that as long as the consternation of the beast remains in his, he will always rule
without any fear of rebellion or forsake from his tribe members. Therefore showing that, in order to
achieve his wicked plan, he utilizes evil. Thus installing permanent fear in the minds of his followers.
Suzanne Collins also employs several allegories in her work. She uses them to build up the plot but
also to bring a climax to the story. For instance the dandelion plant that was mentioned. I had just
turned away from Peeta Mellark s bruised face when I saw the dandelion and I knew hope wasn t lost.

survival. Thus showing that despite the desperate circumstances, the oppression of the Capitol, there

Racially Offensive Speech
Recently in 2015 the topic on college campuses is racially offensive talk. When I first heard about this
I was shocked. I never thought of a college ever being a place where you d find students talking in a
racist way. To me school has always been a place where I didn t think anyone had to worry about
hateful or racially offensive speech. But to my surprise many campuses around the United States have
this problem and they need to find a way to solve it.
According to an article I read titled AMERICANS ARE SPLIT ALONG PARTY LINES OVER
WHETHER SCHOOLS SHOULD PUNISH RACIST SPEECH This article surprised me how many
college students think penalty should be given to people on campus using hateful or racially offensive
speech, to try and resolve this problem. In a poll done by Huffington Post/YouGov reviled that 53
percent of college students feel this way. The same poll reviled that 45 percent of students think that
the College campuses should be responsible for teaching students about issues relating to racism, but
41 percent thinks that the College should not be responsible. College campuses in my opinion do have

The Watts Music Festival
In a world of political discourse with racism and hate running rampant, a few great men and women
came together to bring unity and harmony like never before: in the form of massive music festivals. In
the late 1972, the black community came together for a concert known as Watts Summer Festival. In
1969, the largest music festival of its time was held, and was known as Woodstock. Later that year, the
Rolling Stones put together a massive free concert in San Francisco known as the Altamont Concert.
All of the concerts and music festivals were not aimed at making money or becoming famous, but
about the unity of people through the art of music. On August 20, 1972, the Watts music festival was
held in Los Angelas. This was a festival put together by the Stax recording company in order to honor
the men, women, and children who were devastated in the riots in Watts, a primarily African American
community. Performers in this eight hour festival included James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Isaac Hayes,
the late Harmonica Fats, WAR, Richard Pryor, Nancy Wilson, Gil Scott Heron, Barry White, the Watts
Prophets, Charles Wright and the 103rd Street Rhythm Band and the Staple Singers. The film, ...

Thesis Statement On Gun Control
Over the course of the fall semester, I intend to develop a strong, yet demanding, argument that
supports my ideas and efforts to make a long lasting affect on the residents living in Saint Louis. My
advocacy project consists of informing the Saint Louis Mayor, Lyda Krewson, on issues pertaining to
gun control in the St.Louis metro area and eventually persuade her to look into designing more
efficient background checking systems for individuals wanting to bear arms.
I have been living in the Saint Louis area for seventeen years, and I have witnessed the consequences
caused by the loose regulation of guns. Many guns, including military grade weapons, have been
circulating into the wrong hands of individuals in the region. Because of this, the crime rate in the
Saint Louis area has been on the rise as well. As a St.Louis resident, I am often informed of the harsh
results related to gun violence; News stations throughout the region report the jarring records of deaths
and other injuries related to firearms. As months progress, I started to realize that my city was making
a turn for the worst. Gun control, being a relevant social issue in St.Louis, was affecting not just the
victims, but the families, friends, and the overall communities. I started to ponder why my hometown
was having such a massive issue over guns. Although I have not been personally affected by gun
violence, I do not want to become a bystander to these casualties.Rather, I desire to improve this issue

Librarians And Their Subtle Protection Of Children From...

Librarians and their Subtle Protection of Children from the Internet
Freedom of speech and access to information within our public libraries is protected by the bill of
rights of many national and international human rights organizations. These freedoms are specifically
protected within our First Amendment rights in the United States Constitution and by the American
Library Association s Bill of Rights. It is written by both that all citizens should have the freedom to
write, publish, and read what they wish, without fear of a government or other person persecuting or
restricting them. However, the Children s Internet Protection Act of 2000 made it American law that
public libraries must use Internet filtration software to censor access to information deemed
inappropriate for children. These regulations are meant to protect the innocent American youth from
content considered profane, sexual, or violent; however, what has proven more dangerous than what
children discover on the internet at their library is the misapplication of the law by the libraries
themselves. Due to differing cultural contexts, political and economic climates, and contents of
constitutionally protected information, different communities throughout the United States have
different levels of freedom to information. While the government of the United States has the final say
on what information can be accessed in federally funded public libraries in America, several libraries

Trichomonas Sexually Transmitted Disease
Trichomonas also known as Trich is a sexually transmitted infection caused by a parasite. It was first
discovered by Donné in 1836 and today, it is responsible for 25 % of all cases of clinically diagnosed
vaginitis. More than half of infected women and nearly 90% of infected men are asymptomatic which
means producing or showing no symptoms and that increases the chances of people spreading the
infection. Trichomoniasis is a very common sexually transmitted disease that is caused by infection

Eggs Are A Popular Choice
Eggs are a popular choice in countries all around the world as they are low in cost and have no
restrictions within religious beliefs (Miranda, Xaquin, Redondo Valbuena, Roca Saavedra, Rodriguez,
Lamas, Cepeda 2015). A hen starts laying eggs at around eighteen to twenty two weeks old, depending
on the breed of chicken and the time of the year (Jacob, Wilson, Miles, Butcher, and Mather 2015). At
twelve months, old the hens egg laying count declines and they are considered spent leading the hen to
get slaughtered. A hen will lay around three hundred eggs a year depending on environment it is being
raised in. Most people who go into an grocery store are not aware about what the different types of
eggs mean therefore they don t know what they are truly buying and consuming. As a carton of eggs
has a nutrition chart on it, it does not show or describe the living conditions that the hen is being
housed in. I have obtained appropriate information regarding eggs and how they are produced to help
consumers make informed choices. The choices to take into factor are; the type of egg, nutrition,
diseases, cost in stores, and production cost.
Different types of eggs
There are five main egg types that are carried in most grocery stores. These types are based on what
environment the hen is being kept in and what type of fed they are being given. The main
environments in which a hen is being kept is in battery cages, free run, and free range housing

Sherman began her famous series of Untitled Film Series at the end of 1977. The small black and

Activity based costing (ABC) Method
While analyzing how companies within the service industry utilize activity based cost (ABC), Onat,
Anitsal, Anitsal, (2014), stated that Activity based costing (ABC) focuses on the idea that activities
create costs, while products use activities to gain value added. (pg. 150). In general, this means that
the theory behind activity based costing (ABC) method is that merchandises or services consume
activities and activities consume resources. When used, activity based costing first recognizes key
activities that create overhead costs. Secondly, the activities that have similar cost drivers are then
categorized into cost pools, and finally allocates the total overhead costs for products and services by
computing absorption rate of each cost pool, respectively. Some issues associated with activity based
costing (ABC) is that it is expensive to implement and data can easily be misrepresented. One of the
critical issue company encounter while utilizing the activity based costing method is that it is difficult
to separate some overhead costs the CEO of the company

Nuclear Weapons Are The Most Deadly
Nuclear weapons are the most deadly, destructive, and powerful form of technology that the world has
ever created. Officially, only 9 states out of 196 in the international arena have possession of them.
Although nuclear weapons are being eliminated by states, they still hold a significant value for nations
in the IR arena with a nuclear annihilation capacity. States within the international community that
own nuclear arsenals are automatically feared and respected because of the status symbol they hold.
Conversely, this prestige, power, and influence can also back fire on states and become a
disadvantage. States can lose power in the international community by causing tensions and dividing
themselves between states who don t have these nuclear advantages. France is one country in
particular that resembles a superpower with nuclear capability. France has gained power in the
International community through NATO due to their possession of nuclear weapons. Overall, nuclear
weapons still represent a great power in the International Arena today and will continue holding that
power. The ability to produce and launch dangerous, nuclear weapons help states earn a negotiation
power in the international community because nuclear power is equated to political power. A state that
owns nuclear weapons is feared, respected, and seen as a country that nobody wants to wage a war

Chinese Culture, Health And Illness
The Chinese culture is built around thousands of years of tradition. Understanding these Chinese
beliefs and social influences may benefit you when attending to someone of this culture.
Values
In Chinese culture, respect towards an authority figure is shown by giving a slight bow and to avoid
making eye contact. If people of the opposite sex make eye contact, it may be considered as a
flirtatious act. It is also inappropriate and rude to address an elder or person of higher status by their
first name. They should be addressed by their designation ( i.e. Mr. Mrs. Miss) unless told other wise.
Yin Yang
In Chinese culture, health and illness concentrates on the balance between body, mind, and spirit,
expressed as Yin Yang. It symbolizes the idea that for every action, there is an equal and opposite
reaction. There is a belief in part of the Chinese culture, that a physical illness is caused by an
imbalance of Yin Yang.
Beliefs about Blood
Many Chinese tend to be against donating blood because in classical Chinese medicine, blood is
understood as a vital bodily essence. They tend to believe that any loss of blood has the potential to
lead to a long term decline in their health and vitality. There tends to be a fear that even a small
amount of blood loss would affect ones health for a short and long period of time. This may result in
them to take several weeks to rest and consume a special diet.

Elements Of Naturalism In Willa Cather
Alexandra Bergson appears as a symbolization of Willa Cather in more than one way. Cather saw
herself as a strong, intelligent, young woman trying to carve a path through a world that did not seem
to appreciate her. Cather Alexandra both found the Realistic, Romantic, and Naturalistic ways of the
world. Although this novel had many aspects of Naturalistic views, Realism and Romanticism also
appeared in several ways. Intertwined in this novel was an aspect of realism. Realism appears to me as
the way of life without change. Anyone who writes realistically does not care about others responses,

overall appears as a Naturalistic novel. The assumption that everything real exists in Nature, defines
Naturalism. Naturalism takes away all the power that romanticism gave you. Since the naturalist
perspective exists very persistently in this novel, you can prove that in many ways. When Cather
exposed the true feelings and intentions of Frank Shabata and his wife Marie, and explained to readers
of somewhat an emotionally abusive relationship is another aspect of Naturalism in this novel.
Perhaps he could not have given it up if he had tried. Perhaps he got more satisfaction out of feeling
himself abused than he would have got out of being loved. If he could once have made Marie
thoroughly unhappy, he might have relented and raised her from the dust. But she had never humbled
herself. In the first days of their love she had been his slave; she had admired him abandonedly. But
the moment he began to bully her and to be unjust, she began to draw away; at first in tearful
amazement, then in quiet, unspoken disgust. The distance between them had widened and hardened. It
no longer contracted and brought them suddenly together. The spark of her life went somewhere else,
and he was always watching to surprise it. He knew that somewhere she must get a feeling to live
upon, for she was not a woman who could live without loving. He wanted to prove to himself the
wrong he felt. This situation we believed to tie into Naturalism because no matter what, Marie

Puritan Codex I. William Bradford a. William Bradford felt strongly about the necessity of community
and its effect on the prosperity of a person s spiritual and selfless wellbeing, despite how well their

Fear was instilled in Puritans as a result of the constant uncertainty of their wellbeing shown through
Edwards sermons. One concept plaguing them was that sinners will receive an inescapable dreadful
fate, and can feel its effects at any time. Puritans were terrified and reflective of their actions when
Jonathan Edwards said sinners are already under a sentence of condemnation to hell (Edwards 427).
Because of this constant worry, Puritans tried to discover whether they were predestined to be in hell
and whether they had sinned (Edwards 427). As life after death is still an unknown realm, this

Single fiber electromyography (SFEMG) is another reliable diagnostic test for MG. This test typically
requires the use of a specialized EMG needle electrode that is inserted into a single muscle in rapid

common, and patients should seek treatment in order to cope with MG (Sieb, 2014); however MG is
rarely life threatening. Since many treatments for MG are successful, general outlook for patients is
bright, especially in terms of quality of life and daily functioning (Sieb, 2014). Treatment There is
currently no cure for MG, however there are multiple treatments available to manage the disease.
Depending on the state of the individual, practitioners will recommend a specific treatment protocol
by evaluating the short and long term cost benefits of available treatment options. These treatments
include: plasma exchange and IVIG, acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitors, immunosuppressants,
and a thymectomy. Plasma exchange (plasmapheresis) and IVIg are treatments used for acute
management of severe muscular weakness. Symptoms usually improve for 1 to 2 months, and each
treatment is commonly used in conjunction with immunosuppressants (Skeie, et al., 2010). Plasma
exchange involves replacing plasma with 1 1.5 times the volume with saline, albumin, or plasma
protein fraction (Newsom Davis, 2003). Ideally, by replacing the plasma there will be a reduced
amount of AChR antibodies attacking AChRs. IVIg (Intravenous immunoglobulins involves

Developmental Disabilities Research Paper
Developmental Disabilities
Developmental disabilities include several types of conditions due to impairment in physical, learning,
language, or behavior areas. These conditions usually begin during the developmental period, may
impact daily functioning, and most of the time last throughout a person s lifetime. Most developmental
disabilities begin before a baby is born, but can also happen after birth due to injury, infection, or other
risk factors. It is very important that the mother takes care of herself during her pregnancy to prevent
or reduce the chances for her baby developing a disability. All the different types of developmental
disabilities will be explained and discussed throughout the research paper.
As previously stated most developmental disabilities are caused by a mix of factors. These factors
include genetics, parental health and behaviors such as smoking and drinking during pregnancy,
complications during birth, or infections the mother might have during the pregnancy or the baby
might have very early in life. For some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Cultural Aspects Of Sexy Salsa Dance
As different groups of people move from one geographic location to another, they bring various
aspects of their heritage with them, including the dance forms characteristic of their culture. While in a
new location, these cultural aspects can serve to unify people of a common ethnicity, giving them a
physical expression of their collective identity. On the other hand, when a minority group of people
practices its dance forms in a new geographic location, dominant groups of people often adopt them.
Failing to understand the social significance and original meanings of such dances, the majority group
appropriates several aspects of the dance forms while changing other aspects in order to make them fit
better within its cultural ideologies. In this way, cultural appropriation of dance forms dissolves some
of their original cultural meanings, as is exemplified by the transmission of salsa dance from a Latin
American social dance to a Western ballroom dance, changing its nature from an expression of
cultural unity to an exotic experience. Performed primarily in social dance clubs, salsa is a fluid and
dynamic dance. The movement of the dancers originates from their hips, which move constantly
throughout the dance (Sexy Salsa Dancing). This in turn leads to the dancers having a dynamic and
flexible spine, weight shifts propelled by core body movement often resulting in weight suspended
between the feet, [and] flexed knees and a lower center of gravity (Malnig 304). The

Negative Effects of Run down Buildings on the Community All across the US, cities are constantly
evolving by tearing down outdated buildings and erecting new structures in their places that serve to
grow and improve the community as a whole. However, when a city either does not have the funds or
the communal support to tear down a run down building, this evolutionary process is halted. In nature,
organisms must adapt to keep up with their ever changing environments. This same concept goes for
communities that wish to keep up with the increased modernization we are seeing across the country.
When worn down structures are allowed existence, they hurt the community in many ways ... Show

Of those buildings, 83 percent showed signs of illegal use by prostitutes, drug dealers, property
criminals, and others (Spelman). In 2012, more than 2,600 crimes were reported in Chicago s
abandoned buildings and lots. This equates to an average of 7 reported crimes a day (Podmolik). This
astounding amount of crime all stems from run down buildings providing a safe haven for criminals to
operate. In Spelman s study, he concluded that securing abandoned buildings is a highly cost effective
crime control tactic for communities plagued with lawful misconduct (Spelman). Finally, run down
buildings lower property values of homes and structures around them. In a study conducted in 2001 on
property values around vacated buildings in Philadelphia, it was found that homes within 150 feet of
abandoned property suffered a net value loss of $7,630 (Bass). This negative impact that run down
buildings have on the housing market plagues cities in many different areas. For example, in Detroit,
Michigan, homes have a median value of $42,600, which is the second lowest property value in the
nation. Also, in Flint, Michigan, another city with a high percentage of abandoned buildings, home
values are the lowest in the nation at a median worth of a meager $26,000 (Wilkinson). The number of
run down buildings are inversely proportional to the health of the housing market in a community, for

The Pursuit of Organic Happiness
In today s society, many are looking for the number of owned devices as an example of their success
and pure happiness. From young kids to matured adults an ongoing cycle of needing materials has
taken great importance as if it is a necessity to continue living. However the demand for such things
has corrupt the definition of pure happiness. If one lives in communism they will ultimately not know
the true meaning of pure happiness. This is what comes with the communism lifestyle. Steering away
from the communism crowd is the key to happiness.
Communism is based on what others think you need not what we actually believe we want. In certain
careers it is believed that you need specific brand named clothes, accessories, etc. to be the best in that
specific field. From dancers to doctors, they re all alike in consistently upgrading his or her
processions just as everyone in the world is. However is it always what one wants, or what one thinks
they want because society has instilled the non negotiable need for them to feel happy. The media has
developed in such a way that they now control us as people. For example in The Grill Buying Guy,
David Brooks perfectly exemplifies this when connecting a new grill to the key to happiness for
typical family men in society. He also takes it a step further and explain how some go the extra mile to
buy the grill that cost the most or has the latest details to ensure that artificial happiness. The guy will

A Plea For Emigration By Mary Ann Shadd
Mary Ann Shadd s A Plea for Emigration was a pamphlet that was written for African Americans who
may be interested in emigrating to Canada. By examining all the different parts of the country, such as
climate and labour, Shadd paints a very positive overview of Canada. It s a very simple read and I was
able to get through it without any issues. However, as I read it, I was quite concerned with how it was
written. It was a very biased opinion of Canada and Shadd was constantly overselling the country to
convince people to emigrate to Canada. She only addresses any concerns for the sheer purpose of just
reassuring the reader and pushing it to the side. As a result, it grossly undermines the hardships that an
immigrant may face, especially for African individuals. As this was written in 1852, racism was still
rampant within North America and even though Canada had an anti slavery legislation, that does not
dismiss the discrimination that Black citizens would face. Furthermore, moving to a new country and
rebuilding a life there isn t as simple as Shadd portrays, especially during this time period. With only
manual hard labour as job opportunities and being forced to survive out in the wilderness, this is a life
that isn t suited for everyone. Shadd attempts to convince the readers that the hard work is worth it,
but she does a very shallow job of doing so as she neglects to mention any of these difficulties. Her
proposition only appear strong because she doesn t choose to

Roarton Rising
There is no Separation of Church and State With the dead rising from their graves en masse, most of
the living dropped to their knees and began praying for salvation from a vengeful God while the
remainder took up arms to survive. The Rising, an event the Church has compared on occasion to the
End Times, established a new prejudice for the unnatural, resulting in controversial changes in
governmental politics and ideas to protect or segregate the newly Risen from the living. However, due
to the supernatural circumstances of the Rising, the Church arguably provided better support for
civilians of small communities such as Roarton than the government ever could. While the Church

During the Rising, Roarton was left to fend for its own after the national government prioritized the
safety of larger, more urban areas. Instead of letting the whole village descend into chaos and allowing
the newly risen to prey on the citizens, the Church provided some sort of moral and emotional support
for the living, even naming Bill Macy as the Shepherd of Roarton to offer its official support to the
HFV in their efforts to fight off the rabid Undead. In the government s stead, the Church provided
stability and order when the outside world was falling to ruin. And it is because of this support that
Roarton s affairs are usually dealt with by the Parish council even after the Rising had passed and
everything was returning to some semblance of normalcy. Having guided Roarton through the
turbulent events of the Rising, Vicar Oddie does his best to keep his congregation on guard, having
lost all trust on outside forces (the Government) to look after them. He keeps order by reminding his
followers who was there in their time of need and demanding that they keep vigilant of any threat that
would hurt the village by having them remember the atrocities the Undead committed in their
untreated state. The Church s stance on PDS sufferers could be best summarized by Vicar Oddie s

Policies And Procedures In Health And Social Care Essay
Early years setting defines the role of parents, carers, teacher, education providers and Government to

Character Analysis Of Clarissa Dalloway
A.
Character s action The protagonist, Mrs. Clarissa Dalloway, grows in her actions throughout the story.
The flashbacks to the present day show her growth more than things happening during the day of the
party. Clarissa grows as an ambitious woman by denying Peter Walsh s marriage proposal. He is the
man of her dreams, at first. As she realizes that that s not what s best for her she denies him and moves
on. Peter... had no heart, no brain, nothing but the manners and breeding of an English gentleman. (pg.
7) She has too many aspirations to settle for a man not up to her standards.
Character s appearance
Clarissa Dalloway is not beautiful. Not that she was striking; not beautiful at all; there was nothing
picturesque about her... (pg. 76) This is why her insecurities are so prominent. She questions
everything she does. However, she dresses like a respectable lady. Therefore despite her bland face,
her clothes and gloves are well done. She uses these to disguise how she really feels, which is
inadequate. Clarissa always feels as though she needs her gloves, while her daughter Elizabeth who is
beautiful, never wears them. Elizabeth doesn t need them. Clarissa does. Clarissa is obsessed with how
people feel about her, which goes to show how insecure she is.
Character s thoughts
Her thoughts are very sexually confused. This is one trait that could go deeper than talked about on the
surface. She has an experience where another woman kisses her and she has a very big crush

Beer Simulation
Root Beer Simulation At the outset, I have to acknowledge that I had a problem with this simulation.
Initially, in my first two orders, I confused the backlog and inventory sections, so that I believed I had
a significant surplus in inventory. Therefore, rather than minimizing the bullwhip of supply and
demand, I exacerbated the problem by limiting my supply well below the number of orders coming in,
much less below what I could fill with the backlog and incoming orders. This error on my part
certainly led to increasing instability, not only in my own incoming orders, but also in the entire
supply chain. The simulation also kept auto filling my initial order, which was only 10,000 cases,
despite me ordering a significantly larger number of cases. I could not get the simulation to operate
properly and allow me to place a larger order. It kept auto ordering the 10,000 cases. I could not get it
to place an order other than 10,000 cases. Because of this glitch, I continued to increase my backlog. I
simply could not order more than 10,000 cases. I address this issue because the glitch certainly
impacted my opinion of the computer simulation as a means of learning. In this scenario, the initial
computer simulation was absolutely worthless as a learning tool. I made an error in my first order, but
I do not think that error was meaningful. Instead, it appears that whatever number of cases I placed in
my initial order would be the number of cases ordered over the next several

The Middle-Range Theory Of Self-Care Of Chronic Illness
As of 2012, approximately half of all adults in the United States (U.S.) had at least one chronic health
condition and one fourth had more than one chronic health condition (Ward, Schiller, Goodman,
2014). Self care is recognized to be an important component in the management of chronic illnesses
(Ausili, Masotto, Dall Ora, Salvini, Di Mauro, 2014; Coleman Newton, 2005; Kennedy, Rogers,
Bower, 2007). As knowledge in this area grows, there is a need for theories to guide research and
practice. The middle range theory of self care of chronic illness (MRTS CCI) is a theory intended to
clarify the concepts, assumptions, propositions, and factors affecting self care in the context of chronic
illness (Riegel, Jaarsma, Strömberg, 2012). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

care. The description includes instances where individuals are unreflective, yet achieve sufficient self
care; however, they contend that the ideal combination for a person with chronic illness is purposive,
reflective, sufficient and reasoned self care (Riegel et al., 2012, p. 195). These relationships remain
ambiguous because if sufficient self care is achieved, no explanation or sources are provided for why
reflective sufficient self care is more desirable. The description of this relationship does not follow the

The Importance Of Globalization
Globalization has been in a toss up on the valuableness of its control and how it benefits the world.
Many views have come up due to the advancement of the world collectively, some believe it has only
benefited society has a whole while others say it has brought only destruction to the social and cultural
aspects. Two professors at highly ranked universities discuss their views on Globalization and how it
has influenced the world. Globalization has greatly impacted the world through its social relations
through culture. Amartya Sen at Harvard University expresses his views on Globalization through the
spread of intellectual ideas and how it takes one great idea to spread across the globe.
Amartya Sen has a positive outtake on the developing nature on Globalization. He believes the rise in
Globalization in the past years as brought a new standard of living through social correlations. In an
example to prove Globalization has benefited the people he uses the history of mathematics, In his
history of mathematics, Howard Eves explains that around 1150 A.D., Gherardo of Cremona, in his
translations from the Arabic, rendered jaib as the Latin sinus, the corresponding word for a cove or a
bay. (Sen 2012, 18). Math is one language that is the same in any country across the globe, Sen was
referring to the concept sine and how it was created in India, but developed in other countries. It was

Importance Of Integrity In The Military
This I Believe This I believe is a very vague question in terms of what I believe. I have a multiplex of

you re born with, it s one of those traits you develop over the span of your life as you attain
understanding. When I initial set foot in the military I had no concept of what integrity was or what it
denoted. As I grew in the military and worked my way up the ranks integrity developed in me and
transcended my life and the way I reasoned. It impacted the way I observed the word and the military

  • 2. Batteries, Resistance And Current Lab Report PHYS 1112/2212 spring 2016 LAB #9 Batteries, Resistance and Current Introduction: Voltage can be thought of as the pressure pushing charges along a conductor, while the electrical resistance of a conductor is a measure of how difficult it is to push the charges along. Using the flow analogy, electrical resistance is similar to friction. For water flowing through a pipe, a long narrow pipe provides more resistance to the flow than does a short fat pipe. The same applies for flowing currents: long thin wires provide more resistance than do short thick wires. The resistance (R) of a material depends on its length, cross sectional area, and the resistivity (the Greek letter rho), a number that depends on the material. The resistivity ... After her sister married and left Heartfield, Emma has developed a rare and close relationship with her father, which is the main source for Emma s sense of independence and control. Therefore, with the mother gone, similar to Emma in temperament and talent, Emma lost the sole person who had a position of control over her. As demonstrated by Mr. Knightley s observation: ever since she was twelve, Emma has been mistress of the house and of you all. In her mother she lost the only person able to cope with her. Therefore, Emma is not under subjection to Mr. Woodhouse, as we are told He could not meet her in conversation, rational or playful (24). • 10. The Watts Music Festival In a world of political discourse with racism and hate running rampant, a few great men and women came together to bring unity and harmony like never before: in the form of massive music festivals. In the late 1972, the black community came together for a concert known as Watts Summer Festival. In 1969, the largest music festival of its time was held, and was known as Woodstock. Later that year, the Rolling Stones put together a massive free concert in San Francisco known as the Altamont Concert. All of the concerts and music festivals were not aimed at making money or becoming famous, but about the unity of people through the art of music. On August 20, 1972, the Watts music festival was held in Los Angelas. This was a festival put together by the Stax recording company in order to honor the men, women, and children who were devastated in the riots in Watts, a primarily African American community. Performers in this eight hour festival included James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Isaac Hayes, the late Harmonica Fats, WAR, Richard Pryor, Nancy Wilson, Gil Scott Heron, Barry White, the Watts Prophets, Charles Wright and the 103rd Street Rhythm Band and the Staple Singers. • 11. Thesis Statement On Gun Control Over the course of the fall semester, I intend to develop a strong, yet demanding, argument that supports my ideas and efforts to make a long lasting affect on the residents living in Saint Louis. My advocacy project consists of informing the Saint Louis Mayor, Lyda Krewson, on issues pertaining to gun control in the St.Louis metro area and eventually persuade her to look into designing more efficient background checking systems for individuals wanting to bear arms. I have been living in the Saint Louis area for seventeen years, and I have witnessed the consequences caused by the loose regulation of guns. Many guns, including military grade weapons, have been circulating into the wrong hands of individuals in the region. Because of this, the crime rate in the Saint Louis area has been on the rise as well. As a St.Louis resident, I am often informed of the harsh results related to gun violence; News stations throughout the region report the jarring records of deaths and other injuries related to firearms. As months progress, I started to realize that my city was making a turn for the worst. Gun control, being a relevant social issue in St.Louis, was affecting not just the victims, but the families, friends, and the overall communities. I started to ponder why my hometown was having such a massive issue over guns. Although I have not been personally affected by gun violence, I do not want to become a bystander to these casualties.Rather, I desire to improve this issue ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

November 2015 Librarians and their Subtle Protection of Children from the Internet Freedom of speech and access to information within our public libraries is protected by the bill of rights of many national and international human rights organizations. These freedoms are specifically protected within our First Amendment rights in the United States Constitution and by the American Library Association s Bill of Rights. It is written by both that all citizens should have the freedom to write, publish, and read what they wish, without fear of a government or other person persecuting or restricting them. However, the Children s Internet Protection Act of 2000 made it American law that public libraries must use Internet filtration software to censor access to information deemed inappropriate for children. These regulations are meant to protect the innocent American youth from content considered profane, sexual, or violent; however, what has proven more dangerous than what children discover on the internet at their library is the misapplication of the law by the libraries themselves. Due to differing cultural contexts, political and economic climates, and contents of constitutionally protected information, different communities throughout the United States have different levels of freedom to information. While the government of the United States has the final say on what information can be accessed in federally funded public libraries in America, several libraries throughout the ... On the other hand, when a minority group of people practices its dance forms in a new geographic location, dominant groups of people often adopt them. Failing to understand the social significance and original meanings of such dances, the majority group appropriates several aspects of the dance forms while changing other aspects in order to make them fit better within its cultural ideologies. And, I made sure we spent time on the weekends to be a family. Up until, I threw it all away. When the day winds down, Harry drops by my office and I hand him the script, Losing it at Seventeen. He promises to read it over the weekend. I drive home and eat dinner alone. I relish the quiet time to catch up on personal emails, pay bills and binge watch Seasons One of Game of Thrones. In between, I browse through the books I bought at Barnes and Noble. The healthy recipes are simple to make and look appealing from the photographs. I leaf through the other book on cycling with photos of seasoned cyclists. Who am I kidding? There s no way I will ever become one of them no matter how tough I train and eat healthy ... • 33. Character Analysis Of Clarissa Dalloway A. Character s action The protagonist, Mrs. Clarissa Dalloway, grows in her actions throughout the story. The flashbacks to the present day show her growth more than things happening during the day of the party. Clarissa grows as an ambitious woman by denying Peter Walsh s marriage proposal. He is the man of her dreams, at first. As she realizes that that s not what s best for her she denies him and moves on. Peter... had no heart, no brain, nothing but the manners and breeding of an English gentleman. (pg. 7) She has too many aspirations to settle for a man not up to her standards. Character s appearance Clarissa Dalloway is not beautiful. Not that she was striking; not beautiful at all; there was nothing picturesque about her... (pg. 76) This is why her insecurities are so prominent. She questions everything she does. However, she dresses like a respectable lady. Therefore despite her bland face, her clothes and gloves are well done. She uses these to disguise how she really feels, which is inadequate. Clarissa always feels as though she needs her gloves, while her daughter Elizabeth who is beautiful, never wears them. Elizabeth doesn t need them. Clarissa does. Clarissa is obsessed with how people feel about her, which goes to show how insecure she is. Character s thoughts Her thoughts are very sexually confused. This is one trait that could go deeper than talked about on the surface. She has an experience where another woman kisses her and she has a very big crush ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Beer Simulation Root Beer Simulation At the outset, I have to acknowledge that I had a problem with this simulation. Initially, in my first two orders, I confused the backlog and inventory sections, so that I believed I had a significant surplus in inventory. Therefore, rather than minimizing the bullwhip of supply and demand, I exacerbated the problem by limiting my supply well below the number of orders coming in, much less below what I could fill with the backlog and incoming orders. This error on my part certainly led to increasing instability, not only in my own incoming orders, but also in the entire supply chain. The simulation also kept auto filling my initial order, which was only 10,000 cases, despite me ordering a significantly larger number of cases. I could not get the simulation to operate properly and allow me to place a larger order. It kept auto ordering the 10,000 cases. I could not get it to place an order other than 10,000 cases. Because of this glitch, I continued to increase my backlog. I simply could not order more than 10,000 cases. I address this issue because the glitch certainly impacted my opinion of the computer simulation as a means of learning. In this scenario, the initial computer simulation was absolutely worthless as a learning tool. I made an error in my first order, but I do not think that error was meaningful. Instead, it appears that whatever number of cases I placed in my initial order would be the number of cases ordered over the next several ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. The Effects Of Anorexia Nervosa ( Birmingham Et Al Introduction Even if anorexia nervosa (AN) is a severe mental illness potentially resulting to serious ongoing psychiatric and physical health issues, there are not many clinical trial studies for treating AN published worldwidely focused on psychotherapeutic interventions (Birmingham et al., 2005; Herzog et al., 2000; Le Grange and Lock, 2005; Rome et al., 2003). According to Ale Grange and Lock (2005), of the interventions investigated for AN only the family therapy based approach developed by Dare and Eisler at the Maudsley Hospital, has been studied more than once in a clinical trial setting. After discharge it was decided by the medical team in the hospital that Olga has to receive family treatment and she got a referral for it. Assesment The family of Olga had to meet for an initial assessment before the beginning of treatment. The initial assesment lasted for about 2 hours for clarifying Olga s diagnosis and to asses if it could be any other possible comorbid mental health issue and ifs Olga is mentally ready for family treatment based on the Maudsley model. Olga got a diagnosis of anorexia nervosa, binge eating/purging type without other concurrent psychiatric illness based on DSM V (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). Parallel with the family based treatment, Olga s physical health was uninterruptedly examined by her outpatient pediatrician specialist. Signs and symptoms supporting Olga s DSM V diagnosis contain (a) her denial to keep body weight at or above a minimally normal weight for her age and height (85% of her IBW); (b) her constant fear of putting weight and ending up being overweight, albeit she is recently very underweight and malnourished; (c) her biased body image; and (d) the lack of more than three successive menstrual cycles. Olga s lowest weight was 125 pounds, which is 74% of her ideal body weight.Olga she didn t get her menstrual cycles for seven times in a row and was binge eating and purging up to eight times per day. • 38. The Middle-Range Theory Of Self-Care Of Chronic Illness As of 2012, approximately half of all adults in the United States (U.S.) had at least one chronic health condition and one fourth had more than one chronic health condition (Ward, Schiller, Goodman, 2014). Self care is recognized to be an important component in the management of chronic illnesses (Ausili, Masotto, Dall Ora, Salvini, Di Mauro, 2014; Coleman Newton, 2005; Kennedy, Rogers, Bower, 2007). As knowledge in this area grows, there is a need for theories to guide research and practice. The middle range theory of self care of chronic illness (MRTS CCI) is a theory intended to clarify the concepts, assumptions, propositions, and factors affecting self care in the context of chronic illness (Riegel, Jaarsma, Strömberg, 2012). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It states, Patients who engage in self care that is purposive but unreflective are limited in their ability to master self care in complex situations (Riegel et al., 2012, p. 200). The authors describe a relationship between processes of decision making and reflection, and sufficient or insufficient self care. The description includes instances where individuals are unreflective, yet achieve sufficient self care; however, they contend that the ideal combination for a person with chronic illness is purposive, reflective, sufficient and reasoned self care (Riegel et al., 2012, p. 195). These relationships remain ambiguous because if sufficient self care is achieved, no explanation or sources are provided for why reflective sufficient self care is more desirable. The description of this relationship does not follow the rules of deductive reasoning and is, therefore, not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. Importance Of Integrity In The Military This I Believe This I believe is a very vague question in terms of what I believe. I have a multiplex of beliefs, yet one of my cardinal beliefs is integrity. Integrity is knowing that you re honest and fair, which is what I live by. It s a level of respect you give which results in a positive outcome on your character as a human being. It s a trait not everyone has fortitude to achieve and not one of those traits you re born with, it s one of those traits you develop over the span of your life as you attain understanding. When I initial set foot in the military I had no concept of what integrity was or what it denoted. As I grew in the military and worked my way up the ranks integrity developed in me and transcended my life and the way I reasoned. It impacted the way I observed the word and the military entirely.
