Developing And Creating Medication From Pharmaceutical...
Writing Assignment Introduction: Developing and creating medication is a lengthy and costly process
that may take as long as 10 12 years and cost upwards of $1 2 billion dollar to bring a medication from
research to production into the market. Once in the market, the patent law only protects the intellectual
property for an additional 10 12 years before generic drugs flood the market. Give the time and cost of
creating a new medication from start to finish, it is understandable that most pharmaceutical
companies are hesitant to invest time and resources into so called Orphan disease. These are the
disease that are rare and not very well studied or investigated in medical lecture yet it effects several
thousands individuals worldwide. Therefore most pharmaceutical companies focus their resources on
disease or conditions that are more common in general public and that will bring them huge revenue.
Consequently, sexual dysfunction, high blood pressure and lipid lowering drugs are the favorite
revenue generating medications that have attracted most of the R D money from pharmaceutical
companies in the recent years. Many people expect pharmaceutical companies to do more to combat
disease in poor countries. With record breaking revenue on some of the blockbuster drugs, many
individuals would like to see more from an industry that is favoring certain money making diseases
over others because the industry is favoring bottom line rather than number of lives saved. World

Trisha Brown Research Paper
Trisha Brown was born in Aberdeen, Washington on November 25th, 1936 and received her B.A.
degree in dance from Mills College in 1958. She later received a D.F.A. from Bates College in 2000.
For many summers, she studied with Louis Horst at the American Dance Festival, which was then
held at Connecticut College.
Trisha moved to New York City to study composition with Robert Dunn, who had taught a class at
Merce Cunningham s studio. This studio was based on John Cage s theories of chance. Brown rejected
aspects of it but also maintained great admiration for him and his work. In 1961 she trained with
dancer Anna Halprin and became a founding member of the avant garde Judson Dance Theater in
1962. There she worked with experimental dancers Steve Paxton, Twyla Tharp, Lucinda Childs,
Yvonne Rainer, and David Gordon. In the late 1960s, Brown created her own works which attempted
to defy gravity using equipment such as harnesses and ropes, which allowed dancers to walk on or
down walls to experiment with the dynamics of stability. These equipment pieces were the first dances
to comprise a distinct series in what would become a working method for her as she went on to create
various cycles of dances throughout her career.
In 1970, Brown cofounded the Grand Union, which was an experimental dance collective, and then
founded the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her style has evolved from carefully built up, repetitive gesture to its current fluid virtuosity. She has
done a mirror duet drawn from a solo in 1994 called If You Couldn t See Me (1994), in which Brown
performed entirely with her back to the audience, it is performed to ten minutes of an electronic sound
score on a bare stage. In December of 2012, at age 76, Brown announced that her next two dances
would be her last. The influence of Trisha Brown will forever be a major impact of not only modern,

Mealworm Lab Report
In our fourth and final lab for Biology 100, we are dealing with the beetle larva mealworms. This
worm like animal is, in fact, not a worm; they are larva for the tenebrionid beetle. These larvae are
most commonly used in order to feed household pets. For example: reptiles, fish, and birds. Tenebrio
larvae are also considered pests to the most businesses. This is why they re given a pest s name
mealworm . Mealworms are known for burrowing themselves in grains or flours and completely
infesting businesses inventory. Tenebrio larvae will eat almost anything; they ll consume rotten wood,
grasses, small plants, other insects, and even feces. Since meals worms are such an essential food
supply to families who own pets, more needs to be understood ... Show more content on

In sum, we had a total of four different variables: pure cornstarch, natural raw wheat germ, extra
virgin olive oil, and peanut oil. Our null hypothesis was that the larvae would have no preference
toward any variable whatsoever. However, our alternate hypothesis was that the mealworms would
prefer the habitat where the wheat and olive oil was present. For experiment 1, where my lab group
and I predicted the mealworms would prefer the natural raw wheat germ rather than the pure
cornstarch. This was determined by the food preferences of the adult version of the larva (tenebrionid
beetle). These beetles love to eat grains and flours, so in turn this led us to our hypothesis for
experiment 1. The mealworms would have a bias towards the wheat grain rather than the pure
cornstarch. For experiment 2, my lab group and I predicted that the mealworms would prefer the olive
oil rather than the peanut oil. This was determined by assumption that the stronger scent of the olive
oil would attract the mealworms towards that specific environment. This would only be plausible if
mealworms used a sense of smell in determining their environmental preferences. The mealworms
would have a bias towards the olive oil rather than the peanut

Persuasive Speech On Gay Jail
Four years ago tumblr user bolto took a red box of sorts with a hole seemingly chewed through the top
right corner and placed pink, plastic bars, dubbing it gay baby jail. It was intended to hold their pet
bird who stated i m a bad baby. And while the intention was a minute joke for some laughs, some
reblogs, little did they know it kickstarted a phenomenon. The term gay baby jail is the perfect
combination of words to convey that one is worthy of punishment for their immature actions while
communicating that it is all in good jest. It is truly an iconic statement that has withstood the sands of
time and will likely to do so for quite a sum of time. On November 9th, 2017 Discord user Alfie

An Analysis Of Medea And The King Of Corinth
Throughout the play, Medea, Medea proves that knowledge can destroy. She is surrounded by
powerful men, but uses her intelligence as her weapon to get what she wants: revenge on Jason, her
husband. She shows that physical power may not be the ultimate power that one may have, but that
intellectual power can destroy what one may hold close to them. In the play, Kreon, the king of
Corinth, holds his children to a higher importance than his country; Jason, Medea s husband, values
his children and their status in society; and Aigeus, shows that having children would bring him great
happiness. Medea is able to figure out what is most important to these three men to manipulate and
cause revenge on Jason, who betrayed his vows to Medea. This eventually causes the murder of
royalty as well as Jason and Medea s sons. Little does Jason know that the revenge Medea takes on
him is total, as his sons, which are his legacy, are dead. Also, no one would want to marry Jason
because Medea s on the loose, and can go after any woman that would pursue Jason. As Medea said,
For those children [Jason] had from me he will never see alive again, nor will he on his new bride
beget another child, for she is to be forced to die a most terrible death by these my poisons. Let no one
think me a weak one, feeble spirited, a stay at home, but rather just the opposite, one who can hurt my
enemies and help my friends (Medea, 787 793). As one can see, Medea does not take the fact that
Jason was

Comedy Of Errors Film Analysis
Hopeless and helpless doth Egeon wend. But to procrastinate his lifeless end. The Comedy of Errors is
one of Shakespeare s earliest and comedic creations, with inspiration drawn from the Roman comedy
Menaechmi. The Royal Shakespeare Company was founded in 1961 with the goal to entertain and
educate audiences on Shakespeare s works, by putting a modern twist on the performances. Their
version of The Comedy of Errors, co produced with Told by an Idiot, manipulates the actor s
movements, language and dramatic tension as well as the elements of theatre in order to convey the
comedy and irony of the play to a young audience.
The play follows the story of two sets of twins, Antipholus and their servants, Dromio, as they
desperately search for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The costumes lacked a time period, making them look very messy and mismatched, with people
wearing leg warmers while others wore bright blue mesh singlets. This mishmash of clothes created a
focus issue as the audience s concentration was turned towards the costumes rather than the acting and
dialogue. It is clear that the creatives were trying to the engage the younger, upper primary audience
with the crazy costumes, but they failed to do so and created confusion over their impact to the
dramatic meaning.
Director Paul Hunter used many of the stylistic elements often seen in Commedia Del Arte
performances. Similar to commedia performance, The Comedy of Errors was designed to be a
travelling show, going from school to school to share their creation and educate students. Due to this,
the set had to be simple and transportable and Vale achieves this successfully by using a simple square
stage but managing to maintain many levels with seats behind the raised stage. Other commedia
elements, such as mask work, is also used in the production to some extent, with both Antipoli
wearing glasses that act as masks. The play also uses the idea of Master and Servants, a noticeable
feature of commedia performances. The creatives also used audience participation to tell the story, by
spraying water on them, getting them to direct actors to hidden

Oscar Wao Essay
The ending of a novel can be evaluated by the reader in several different ways, however to properly
analyze the work is to further explore the logic of how everything has come to be. The ability of the
author to show the reader that the ending is reasonable from the preceding action and the character s
nature is what should truly be examined. Not only is the ending of The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar
Wao by Junot Diaz both happy and unhappy, it is logical in the sense that it follows logically from the
climax of the novel all while the character s have been constant throughout, except Oscar. Oscar, the
protagonist experiences a life changing transformation that leads to his untimely death. However, the
ending is convincing because of this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Trouble began to brew because of the woman, and it seemed logical to any normal person to
discontinue the pursuit; but Oscar s stubbornness that was frequently depicted in situations throughout
the novel led him to his death. In this novel there was no other way for Oscar to die logically; he
needed a big bang to bow out of his eccentric life and what better way for him, than to die for love.
True love, what Oscar had been searching for his entire life and finally found, had killed him. The
conclusion of The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz is satisfying because the ending
revolved around Oscar s death, the separate stories of the novel now intertwined because of him. His
transformation and new personality was ultimately the cause of his death, but in a sense it can be
considered happy because it seems just right. Oscar becomes a new person and breaks free of his
nerdy and rejected persona. Diaz seamlessly weaves the ending of Oscar Wao s story and all the
characters around him due to their natures and the preceding actions. The ending of this novel is
convincing and logical because of Oscar s new transformation which led him to do things which he
would have not done before. These things that he did, most specifically pursuing a woman he should
not have, led him to his death. Despite the morbid ending, it is not unreasonable; it is certainly logical
and therefore satisfying to the

Consequences Associated With Unprotected Sexual Activity
Although many movies and television shows glorify sex and sexual activity, Sex should not be
portrayed as a recreational activity because of the many consequences associated with unprotected
sexual activity. A few of the negative and sometimes devastating effects of casual sex include diseases
such as HIV and HPV. Unplanned pregnancy is also a risk associated with unprotected sexual activity.
Good health is very important to a happy and productive life. Unprotected sexual activity can lead to
illness and death. Unprotected sex can lead to contracting HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) and
AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome). HIV is spread mostly through four body fluids:

Urbanization In The Progressive Era
The Progressive Era
The progressive era was a time period in America after reconstruction that took place from 1900 to
1920. The progressive era focused mainly on social and political reform, trying to fix America s
economy by working towards equal conditions for individuals, stopping political corruption and
increasing government intervention on social and economic issues. Progressivists were social activists
and political reformers working to improve conditions and the treatment of the American people. The
progressive era was successful in the fight to reform the United States by improving industrialization,
urbanization cities, and reforming America s social and gender classes.

Urbanization in the progressive era was a huge factor, with millions of immigrants flocking to
America for jobs. African americans flooded north also in search of jobs. Cities exploded outward and
upward, condensing people into building and houses. This, given the time was highly unsanitary, with
waste and filth in the streets, disease spread rapidly. Pollution caused poor living conditions often
crowded and unsafe. Often there was little clean water or paved roads for transportation. Many people
in the city s began to push for urban reformers. A Progressive reformer named Jane Addams stepped
up and opened one of the first settlement houses in Chicago with Ellen Gates Starr, which greatly
helped out local immigrants by producing education and even social services. Many reformers
supported laws that would improve living conditions in the center city and fought to get rid of political
corruption, which had been widely spreading.
During the progressive era social, racial, and gender boundaries limited the country. The progressive
era kick started the modern American middle class. One of the progressivists and socialists main goals
was to reform the social society. They wanted to provide education and a safe place for people to
work, live and learn. A well known progressive governor named Robert La Follette was the leader of a
progressive movement called the ´laboratory of democracy´ and by 1900, thirty one states required

The And Anti Partisan Duties
P olicing and Anti Partisan duties were dangerous tasks for those assigned in the Feldjäger
Abteilungen. The hostile Dweller partisans, heavily armed criminals and the gullible tribals providing
a safehouse for those elements who were equally unwilling to back down before the enforcers of the
High King and the High Queen. This was a lesson that the Nightingales of Action Andy learned during
their brief time as such a formation, towards the end of June. Virgil Sapienti, on the other hand, was an
entirely different story. Sicherheitsdetachement Kurfust, a special RGA ZbV (Zur besonderen
Verwendung or Special Purpose ) Detachment within the Nightingales, was automatically disbanded
when the surviving members of Action Andy s outfit was converted into a Feldjäger Abteilung. That
happened a day following the conclusion of the Second Great Leaps Westward. Now, towards the end
of June, RGA High Command renewed its interest in rebuilding the Nightingales back to full strength,
starting with Sicherheitsdetachement Kurfust. It was on the morning of June 22nd, when RGA High
Command sent a letter to his home in Underworld, informing him that Sicherheitsdetachement
Kurfust has been reactivated. The letter then stated that he has been given permission to resume his
original role as its leader. With this in mind, a special assignment had been given to Sapienti, requiring
him to visit a certain someone at a safehouse in Mother s Den, specifically, St. Louis de Montfort

Analysis Of The Ugly Duckling
This version of the book titled The Ugly Duckling by Hans Christian Anderson was much better than
any of the other versions I have read. This version includes more in depth details about what actually
happens to the little ugly duckling. The detail helps the reader better understand what is happening in
the book because they can actually picture the different events that are taking place. The book is also
better because it has detailed pictures of each event that is taking place so the reader can actually see
the different things the duckling is going through while their reading the book. These different points
tend to keep children more interested in the book and make them want to read and learn from it
themselves. This version is much longer and includes more detail about each of the stops the ugly
duckling makes on his journey compared to what I have read before. Because this book is much
longer, I believe that children can really learn the moral and understand what the book is trying to
teach them which is to be nice to all even though some may be different. It teaches children not to
single others out because of their looks or their actions because you never know what they are going
to grow up to be. The pictures back up what the author is trying to say, the reader can see that the other
ducks and ducklings kicked him out because he was different and the hunting dogs didn t even want to

people who inspire to do amazing things. This inspiration will help anybody absorb more of the

The Global Population Of The United Nations Essay
The United Nations estimates that by 2076, the global population will be nearly 11 billion people.
Currently, the global population is slightly below 7.5 billion people, which means that in 60 years the
amount of people on the Earth will increase by roughly 3.5 billion people. Living accommodations
will have to change for this large increase in population, resulting in smaller and more cramped
homes. Large cities will have to not only build more apartment complexes, but also build them taller
in order to accommodate more people. At this point in time, the technology is not available to allow an
extra 3.5 billion people adequate living conditions. However, the future generations will be able to
advance technology enough to figure out a solution. Moore s Law observes that every two years, the
number of transistors in an integrated circuit doubles. In simpler terms, it says that the processing
power for computers doubles every two years. This indicates that the future holds many technological
advancements, and sixty years from now the technology used in homes will be drastically more
advanced than the technology used in homes today. As a result, all 11 billion people will be able to
live comfortably. The home of the future will look much different than the homes of today. It will be
able to perform many more tasks and will be much more than just a building that a person owns and
sleeps in. Right now, both the population in cities and the property prices in cities keep

Billie Holiday
Billie Holiday was born Eleanora Fagan on April 7, 1915 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but spent
most of her poverty stricken childhood in Baltimore. Lady Day, as she was named by
Lester Young, had to overcome many tragedies in her lifetime and yet still became one of the most
popular jazz blues vocalists of all time. Billie s Parents, Sally Fagan and Clarence Holiday, were both
born in Baltimore. They married as teens and soon Sally gave birth to Eleanora Fagan. Shortly after
the birth, Clarence
Holiday deserted his family to tour with Fletcher Henderson s band. Billie saw little of her immediate
family and she essentially grew up alone, feeling unloved and gaining a lifelong inferiority complex

But even with the new marriage the marital and drug abuse continued. She was given a chance to be in
a movie with one of her early idols, Louis Armstrong in 1946. On top of the being disgusted at the fact
that she was stuck playing a maid, she was again feeling the effects of racism, but still she could not
pass up the chance to work with a great like Armstrong. Billie Holiday s story from 1950 on is a
gradual down slide. She was arrested several times on drug charges and was divorced then remarried
for a third time. In 1951 she met and married Louis McKay, who similar to her other two husbands,
turned out to be abusive as well.
Although her recordings, which started up again in 1952, placed her once again with all star jazz
musicians, her voice was slipping fast. Her unhappy relationships distracted her, the heroin use and
excessive drinking continued and by 1956 she was way past her prime. Holiday s 1958 album Lady in
Satin found the 43 year old singer sounding old and worn out and the following year she collapsed. On
the summer day of July 17,1957 Billie Holiday s problems finally caught up with her. She died at the
early age of 44. Holiday rarely sang traditional blues, but her reputation rests on her ability to
transform popular songs into emotionally profound pieces. The recordings that I decided to listen to

In my dream, I saw my stepmom talking to a group of men. This group of men looked like they were
part of a bike gang, and they all had either a knife or a gun on them. The group of men had scary
tattoos all over them, leather vests, and distressed jeans on with boots. The men took off and were
headed to an apartment complex in search of someone. They didn t knock on any doors or try to break
into a specific apartment; they were just walking around looking for someone outside the apartment
buildings. When they found who they were looking for, they started running and shooting towards that
person. It was my father.

along. She also added that when she was living with her, she felt like her stepmom did not love her
and that from the very beginning she was trying to separate her from her dad. Then, when I ask her to
tell me about her dad, she went on to tell me that her dad and her, have always had a close bond, and
that she feels until this day that she has to protect her dad from her stepmom, as she has done some
pretty bad stuff to her dad during and after their marriage. I then ask the dreamer to explain what her
stepmom has done to her dad in the past and now that they are divorce? She discloses that when her
dad was marry, her stepmom was not a very responsible caregiver because she used to leaved her dad
to take care of all the children and all of the responsibilities of the house, and when her stepmom
returned home there always seem to be a lot of conflicts between her and her dad as he was starting to

The Cause And Effects Of The Mini Ice Age
The mini ice age, or Little Ice Age (LIA), was a period of time characterized by a decrease in
temperatures worldwide. Although there are no definite times for the start and end of the Little Ice
Age, it is generally accepted that it occurred from approximately 1300 CE to 1850 CE. The coldest
stage of this time lasted from around 1645 to 1715. Also, the expansion of mountain glaciers in several
locations was a distinctive feature of the Little Ice Age. The event had various effects and its origins
are disputable. Several causes of the Little Ice Age have been proposed. One of them describes a
decrease in sunspot activity, or times when dark spots form on the sun due to low temperatures. The
lack of sunspots during the LIA is known as the Maunder Minimum. Since it appeared to occur
concurrently with the coldest part of the ice age, from 1645 to 1715, it was considered a plausible
reason to explain the Little Ice Age. However, this theory has its flaws, because modeled simulations
point to the idea that temperatures would ve dropped to a maximum of 0.4ºC, when the world saw
actual decreases of 1 2ºC. Furthermore, the Little Ice Age started before the Maunder Minimum
happened, so additional information is needed to explain the original cause of the LIA.
Another idea for the catalyst of the Little Ice Age involves the North Atlantic Oscillation
(NAO), a circulation of atmospheric pressure in North America and northern Europe. Typical, or
positive NAO is shown when a

The problem itself is not one that can be fixed in a few nights, what has been done to the spheres is
almost irreversible with a few exceptions. The severity of this problem isn t one that can completely
alter the way we live but at the same time every action has an equal opposite reaction. Due to the
frequency of the emissions the spheres can be greatly impacted. Many people have been affected by
these emissions and most of the illnesses given to these people are very damaging or terminal. On
average every 3 7 years a building is repainted and depending on the size of the building many VOCs
are released. As well as the frequent times the inside of the buildings are repainted and just creating

He invented Generic Competitive Strategies that are vital to compete in any industry. His strategies
are: cost leadership strategy, differentiation and focus, which is divided into cost focus and
differentiation focus. If one company is to follow the cost leadership strategy, it should try to increase
its profits by reducing costs and charging average prices. The differentiation strategy is an opposite
way the company that follows this strategy often has higher prices for its services, but it is different
and more attractive than its competitors. Focus strategy means that the company that follows it
concentrates on some niche market. The division of focus strategy means that one companies can try
to be successful in cost leadership, while focusing on a niche market and other companies will follow
differentiation strategy. Michael Porter also invented competitive forces model. This model allows us
to understand why, for example, the airlines industry is the least profitable one. It has an easy market
entry, so there are a lot of different companies, and customer has to choose one, but it is difficult for
him to differentiate between different companies, so the customers just chooses what is the most

out they decided to move in together and continued to act as if they are still in college, such as doing
pranks, binge drinking and throwing parties at their house. From a functionalist perspective, their
harmonious relationship that share the same norms would be an example of social cohesion.

Role Of Supernatural Elements In Macbeth
In the play entitled Macbeth by William Shakespeare, the supernatural is the most important element
in the play which leads to Macbeth s desire for the throne. Throughout the play, supernatural appeals
to the audience in various forms which is represented by the witches, the prophecies, the floating
dagger, and ghost. The existence of these supernatural elements in Macbeth foreshadows the evil
ambitions and actions possess by Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. Besides that, these supernatural
elements also are the key elements to the manipulative play as it evoke the emotions among the
audience to perceive the horror, mystery, evil and death throughout the play. The introduction of the
three witches with their prophecies in Act 1 Scene 3, about Macbeth after he won the war against the
Norwegians, at the beginning of the play has naturally motivated Macbeth s actions to make the
prophecies into reality.
The witches are not human or half ways normal when Banquo quotes to Macbeth that the creatures are
not human like as well as irregular in some sort and very unattractive. The witches then presented as
Macbeth s fortune tellers. The witches called Macbeth as Thane of Glamis, Thane of Cawdor ... Show

would have never killed Duncan. The witches and their prophecies become the ultimate key factor for
Macbeth s dynamic character as their ability to foresee Macbeth s fate affect his actions and

his nobility. It is also very effective as it highlights the horror, fears, cruelty and blameworthy of

Explain The Key Events That Played In The Civil Rights...
African Americans civil rights movement was out to achieve the end of racial segregation,
discrimination against niggas and to assure legal recognition and federal protection of the citizenship
rights. Indigenous Australians were out to achieve the same goals, the right to be able to live freely as
white Australians do.
It took numerous of individuals and big events to achieve their goals. Two events that played an
important role was Rosa Parks and the Montgomery Bus Boycott (1955 1956) and the Tent Embassy
(1972). These big events sparked a crucial chapter during the Civil Rights Movement in the United
States and Australia. The aborigines who took part in the Tent Embassy event wanted all Indigenous
people to be accepted as their own self and to be counted as a part of the population in Australia. Rosa
Parks incident and the Montgomery Bus Boycott on the other hand wanted to achieve the same but
smaller goal, to let black people sit wherever they want to on the buses. African Americans and
Indigenous Australians never wanted to be judged on their skin colour, beliefs or actions, they wanted
to be accepted by the whites without having to change or to be changed .

Essay on Traditional Chinese Medicine
TCM, or Traditional Chinese Medicine, can be traced as far back as 1000 BC, where stone
acupuncture needles were believed to be used. Texts from that period also talked of Yin and Yang and
other concepts. The first written work on TCM is titled the Yellow Emperor s Inner Classic, Huangdi
Newijing (Gascoigne 11). This book was written in 300 BC, but entries date back to the early 2700 s
BC. The book is still used in universities of Chinese Medicine around the world and is often called the
bible of TCM. Today, TCM is still thriving in China and all of Asia. In recent years, information on

Cool dryness has the same dry symptoms as warm dryness, except now it also exhibits fever, chills,
headache, and other cold symptoms. The main difference between cold, and cool dryness is that the
person will show more signs of dryness. Dryness enters the body with other climactic elements, so it
can be more dangerous than the other 6 elements because of its ability to combine its power (Gao 42
50). Internal dryness is caused by loss of blood and other body fluids. Internal dryness usually occurs
after a person has been sick with a disease that caused them to vomit or to have diarrhea. It can also
occur after a great loss of blood or sweat. To much sexual activity can also result in internal dryness
(Gascoigne 67 9). Summer heat is the only one of the 6 influences that only occurs during one season,
in this case, the summer. Summer heat is caused solely by the extreme heat that can occur in the
summer time. The symptoms are very similar to those of heat, but summer heat can also be contracted
with dampness. Humidity and rain are common in China during the summer, so a person could exhibit
symptoms such as fever, flushed face, achy joints, nausea, and fatigue at the same time (Gao 52 4).
Other than six pernicious influences, disease can also be caused as a result of your emotions and your
diet (Gascoigne 62). Well now that I had learned about the causes of disease, according to

Comparison Of The Chrysler Building And The Seagram Building
When thinking of buildings that were ahead of their time two come to mind the Chrysler Building and
the Seagram Building. Both of these structures were built to withstand the elements of time and are
still beautiful to this day. These buildings have been featured on the cover of magazines, tv shows and
are modern marvels in today s society. Between the two buildings, one can not help but look at the
similarities as well as the differences between the two. Today I want to discuss these differences as
well as the similarities and go into greater detail on why these buildings are significant. The Chrysler
Building is an Art Deco style skyscraper that was built during one of the most severe economic
downturns in this country s history. The building was finished in the year 1930 and is located in New
York City. The Chrysler Building was constructed using stainless steel over an exposed building
surface which was a first for its time (History of Walter P. Chrysler and the Chrysler Building, n.d.).
The next important thing to think about when understanding the Chrysler Building is to figure out
what it was designed for. Although the building was not owned by Chrysler it was used for the
corporation s offices which used the building until the mid 1950 s (Chrysler Building, n.d). Next,
when one looks at the Chrysler Building they can tell it represents an Art Deco style by its many
unique features. The Chrysler Building represents the Art Deco style because of its monuments,

Inpatient Rehab Research Paper
Drug and alcohol treatment programs generally fall into one of two categories inpatient or outpatient
rehab. While equally focused on rehabilitation, each type has unique attributes and benefits to offer.
Inpatient rehabs are intensive, residential treatment programs designed to treat addictions. Outpatient

Inpatient recovery programs, also known as residential treatment, require patients to check themselves

A typical inpatient program runs anywhere from 28 days to six months.
The first step in inpatient treatment is medically assisted detox. Physicians and addiction specialists
monitor patients vital signs while the drugs exit the system. Drug cravings are common during detox

Constant medical care provided during inpatient treatment helps guard against relapse. Clinicians can

Reasons To Be A Nun In The Middle Ages
In the Middle Ages, a woman might have several reasons to be a nun. Some of them, for example,
wanted to dedicate themselves to the God; or their families couldn t afford a daughter and sent them to
the convent; or they were not attractive enough to appeal a man and got marriage so they went to the
convent. Although we don t know the reason the prioress becoming the nun, she mustn t have gone to
the convent because of believing in god for she lacked a true religious calling. Besides, as for her
background, there are many suggestions she was from a noble family. Last but not the least, the

The prioress s French indicates her education. She spoke French good and elegantly, but she had never
been to France. It seems that she was taught French in England. Without living in France, she must

give a daughter a well education. However, having so well environment but not going to France to

The love of the prioress is an irony. Her love described in the prologue was not to the God but to the
little animals. She did many things with her charity and love that others believed she love animals by
heart. Nevertheless, no matter she loved animals by heart or not, her major intention was to be a
woman of empathy in other s eyes. The reason is like why she did good table manner she wanted to
earn other s esteem. In addition, she showed her compassion to mice was another irony. The God was
the highest status respected by followers, but the prioress pitied on a mouse which was at very low
status hated by people. In addition, England just went through the most dreadful period, Black Death
mice were the symbol of death at that time. It seems that she didn t know this misfortune in the world

Mental Crowd Simulators
Phase 5: Time now to practice your speech... You are now heading to the end of your preparation
process. This is where you will test your memory and also learn how to be relaxed the whole time.
Three (3) techniques are ideal for practicing your speech and memorizing it very effectively. The first
one is called the mental crowd simulator. To explain what it is in a few lines, we can say that it can be
compared to daydreaming. You know, just like when you daydream while your favorite song is
playing and at the same time, you are imagining yourself singing that song in front of a huge crowd?
Well, this technique works the same way, where you have already memorized your speech, and you
imagine yourself giving that speech to a large audience.
You can daydream anywhere and at any time (with closed or opened eyes), so that s a plus to the
technique. This is how you should basically proceed here; you will have to maintain your eyes, in one
direction facing the wall, a table ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

stage (while still giving your speech) as if you were trying to know what comes next (but you are not,
you are just trying to move around the stage).
After you are done with your presentation, have your friends give you a marking (a grade) for your
practice overall. In other words, have them tell you and grade you

Successes and Failures of Operation Odyssey Dawn (OOD) Essay
The case study and presentation used for this Joint Operations paper was about Operation Odyssey
Dawn (OOD). I will describe two operational level successes and two failures experienced during the
operation. I will offer clear proposals, that if implemented could have prevented those failures. One of
the operational level successes during OOD was that the Libyan Integrated Air Defense System
(IADS) was quickly degraded and an effective No Fly Zone (NFZ) established. The second success
was that maritime forces overcame logistics and target challenges in order to enforce the arms
embargo. Offering clear cut proposals to help prevent some of the failures from occurring is not easy

AFRICOM was not prepared or manned to do what they were being asked to do. As Secretary of
Defense (SECDEF) Robert Gates stated, AFRICOM represents yet another important step in
modernizing our defense arrangements in light of the twenty first century realities. It is, at its heart, a
different kind of command with a different orientation... AFRICOM s mission is not to wage war, but
to prevent it; not to show United States military presence, but to enhance the security forces of our
partners . What could have prevented this failure was for AFRICOM to be set up as a full GCC
capable of being able to complete kinetic operations, if needed. The second failure experienced during
the operation was that AFRICOM did not have a clear cut end goal. Without a defined endstate for
operations in Libya, AFRICOM was uncertain as to what resources it needed for operations. As
Clausewitz wrote, No one starts a war or rather no one in his senses ought to do so without first being
clear in his mind what he intends to achieve by that war and how he intends to conduct it. The former
is its political purpose; the latter is its operational objective. Even though he stated this back in the
1800 s, Clausewitz s point is still appropriate. I believe we were clear in our minds when the crisis
started what our intentions were. Because the on going situation was changing at such a rapid pace
there was no time to define a clear cut end goal. This rapid shift in missions

Hindus believe that ones circumstances in life are completely determined by his previous conduct,
either in this life or in previous lives. This is called karma. By doing good deeds in this life, therefore,
one can improve his circumstances in the future, especially in future reincarnations. (BG, p. 9,10) The
final goal is to escape or be released from the cycle of reincarnation. Hindus will seek in life to be set
free from birth, death, and rebirth, so that we exist in a state of pure impersonal being without a
physical body. Jews, Christians and Muslims believe that man has only one life to live. In
contradiction to the doctrine of karma, the Abrahamic religion believe that on earth, men often do not
receive fair or just rewards for their lives they get their reward on judgment day. God will judge all
men and declare our eternal rewards on the basis of our lives, whether we have lived it good or bad.
After judgment, men receive their eternal destinies. The righteous receive eternal life, a state of bliss,
in the presence of God. The wicked receive eternal punishment, suffering and sorrow, separated from
God. In the Abrahamic religion the gift of life is received after we leave the earth, not on the earth.
Finally Hindu s and Abrahamic religions also differ on their concept of Salvation. Hindu s goal is not
salvation but to escape the reincarnation cycle. There are several ways in which this can be done:
perform good deeds, withdraw from the pleasures

Women s Rights And The Feminism Movement Essay
In a society where women were treated second to men there was clear outrage by women. In the early
twentieth century men played the public role in society they worked, they made up the government,
and they also got to own property and vote. Whereas women had the private role in society at this
time, they were supposed to stay at home and clean, cook, and take care of the children. The women
of this time were sick of being treated a step lower than men, which started the creation of women s
rights and the feminism movement. Alice Paul was a feminist and was an instrumental figure in
creating equality to men when it came to voting. Since then feminism was grown to include more than
just equality when voting. Feminism is the promotion of women s rights based on social, political, and
economic equality to men. Jane Addams gave a speech and published a book about it called A Modern
Lear, which addressed the Pullman strike and other labor issues that arose at the time. The title is
ironic because it includes Lear which refers to the William Shakespeare play she addresses in the
book. Women in the twentieth century were treated as a lesser compared to men and Jane Adams ideas
share some similarities to other feminist of the time, men s view of women equality is illustrated, and
society s view of equality is revealed. Jane Addams is a feminist and is adding to Alice Paul s idea that
women should have the right to vote. Alice Paul wants women to have equality when it comes to

If the body is disfigured in any way you may be required to do some restorative procedures on the
body, using materials such as clay, cotton, plaster of Paris and wax

use a picture of the deceased and try to make them appear as life like as possible for the showing

Bad Hooks Catch No Fish
Bad Hooks Catch No Fish
A good hook is what, best, brings a reader into any form of writing. If not, then all could be lost,
unless it is mentally forced upon. This is especially true for a novice, or introductory, reader getting
into the finer aspects of literature or composition. Such as, Paul Rankin s (2005) essay, on Hemingway
s Hills like White Elephants, lacks a motivated lead. The opening transition word could throw a reader
in the opposite direction Rankin would have hoped for. The beginning paragraphs poor lead could
cause one to become lost before the revelation of thesis which makes a poor asset to novice readers.
With the opening word Although (Rankin, p. 234) would make sense if a complete thought was
presented prior. It leaves one to ask, what this complete though could be. With this lingering thought
of what was the original, paves the way for a very complex sentence, which is still a continuation of
the leading thought. Now for someone venturing into the literary scene, to read a sentence of this
magnitude, could become hesitant to continue. Although, the composition of the first sentence is
artful, it could still be a hard read. Which, from a scholar s perspective is refreshing and at par. But the
little guy becoming a scholar has not earned his letterman mark yet. It is wise to be careful into
reading a sentence with complex composition of over 100 words. Additionally, the first sentence, a
summation of multiple views could introduce a novice

Explain Why Cell Biology Embodies All The Principles Of Life
1. Cell biology embodies all the principles of life
2. Cells are small because they are limited by the surface area to volume ratio. The volume of the cell
allows for the total number of chemical activity it carries out during an amount of time. The surface
area of a cell determines the number of substances that go into the cell from the outside of the cell. It
is also determined by the number of waste products that are able to go to the environment. The cell
must be a certain volume in order to allow for a big enough surface area to volume ratio which lets
substances in and out of the cell as well as allowing chemical reactions to occur.
3. The plasma membrane is important to cells because it is a selectively permeable barrier which does

certainly used this to make her mark on history. As the longest reigning monarch at the time, Victoria
had 60 years to influence England (All Empires). Queen Victoria impacted history and the 19th
Century in many ways, through culture, politics and morality. Queen Victoria is perhaps most famous
for popularizing the white wedding dress (Woodham Smith). At the time, women were married in
dresses of almost any color. However, when pictures of the queen in a beautiful white dress circulated,
women began to imitate her example, just as they imitated her hairstyle on the postage (Queen
Victoria Penny Black Single). After it became evident that Victoria and her new husband Albert were
truly in love the white wedding dress became a romantic symbol of true love. Indeed, Victoria was so
in love with her husband that she became quite useless for many years after his death. Her approach to
marriage was so different from most royals that it caused people to take notice. Instead of having

Last Man Standing Political Texas Style Summary
In the following documentary, Last Man Standing: Politics Texas Style this film is taken place from a
behind the scenes point of view that shows a very closely fought race in the Texas, There was an
ongoing race for the House District 45. Not only did you see the ongoing race but also got to witness
the governor s race, which is Tony Sanchez against Governor Rick Perry. Also another witness Ron
Kirk running for senate in Texas against John Cornyn. Overall numerous comments are proclaimed by
local and nation figures in the documentary about discussion s on politics, which really had a very
intuitive background to an in depth side from running campaigns to strategies that some candidates
used to attract voter to vote for them. In the documentary it primarily focused on two specific
candidates running for The House District 45. First, you had Rick Green, a thirty one year old
incumbent Republican Legislator and a conservative leader that is running for reelection as House
District 45. He had served two terms during the republican holder generation. Most people notice right
from the beginning that he is well more experience candidate for the election, thus making people
more openly trust him that he can manage the position of in which he is running for. This not only
makes him more experienced through the people s perspective but also through his campaign style and
debate appearances. Another appealing interest that people see is that he is a Christian which people

First Aid for Adults Essay
First Aid for Adults
For my listening piece I decided to do a talk on first aid for adults. I identified the main characteristics
of scripted speech and tried to emulate them in my piece. The key characteristics of instructional
speech are that it uses very short, concise sentences to give directions. Long complex sentences can
lead to ambiguity and confusion. Instructional speech uses simple, easy to understand vocabulary as
complicated wording, jargon and terminology make instructions difficult to understand and may
confuse the listener. The points must also be presented in a logical order to make them easy to follow.
The audience should be addressed directly, using a fairly personal, ... Show more content on

In my third and fourth drafts, I put the information into even smaller blocks to emphasise the succinct
style of writing because I felt that it was still too difficult to follow; so I used more bullet points and
used capitals, underlining and italics to emphasise key words and phrases. Also in the graphology of
the piece I have used dashes in order to more effectively show where the reader would give a slight
pause. An example is in a hundred compressions a minute just under two a second .
In the third paragraph in particular, the sentences were too complex so having originally written them
as one complex sentence in the pluperfect tense, I broke them down in to one point per sentence and
put them in the present tense so that it would be easier to understand. I also changed some of the verbs
that were in the present tense into the imperative form because it made the phonology sharper and
clearer for the audience to hear. One example is in the sentence After you have returned to the casualty
and rechecked their breathing and they are not breathing or if the likely cause of unconsciousness is
trauma or drowning and they are not breathing, you now give two rescue breaths . The sentence was
much too long and confusing so I changed it to When you return to the casualty re check their
breathing. If they are not breathing or if the likely cause

Personality Color Test Paper
In this world, every individual has their own unique personality. There are many ways to determine
your personality with an online test. For example, our class had a color spectrum test to determine our
color. When taking the color test, you will add up the total of points for each color that is shown and
that will assign you a personality color. Many jobs required for their potential employees to take a
personality color test to get a better understanding of their personality. With their personality, they can
set their employees into a suitable workplace. Depending on your color it shows how you
communicate with others. Brenda s personality color result was blue, people whose color result in blue

Tutankhamun Investigation
British archaeologist Howard Carter and his team (under the control of Lord Carnarvon, the
archaeologist who funded the search) were the first to discover the steps leading to the tomb of King
Tutankhamun in the Valley of the Kings in Egypt on November 4, 1922. Carter landed in Egypt in
1891, determined to find one of the remaining ancient Egyptian tombs; Tutankhamun s. However,
there was doubt the tomb even existed. Carter stated that there were several pieces of evidence a
faience cup, a piece of gold foil, and a cache of funerary items which all bore the name of
Tutankhamun already found that convinced him that the tomb of King Tut had not yet been found.1
Because of this information, Carter believed he knew the specific area of where they might the Boy

Carter had used the famous methodology The Grid System developed by Sir Mortimer Wheeler to

was wasting his money, and thus withdrew his funding. However Carter insisted he was close and if
they were not to find anything, Carter would pay for it himself. Carnarvon agreed, having nothing to

Ccc Camp History
After dinner, the men had free time until lights out at 10 P.M.
The U.S. Army ran the camps, but foresters, carpenters and other people directed the work. The CCC
fought forest fires, planted trees, built roads, buildings, picnic areas, swimming areas, campgrounds
and created many state parks. When not working, the men socialized and had opportunities to learn
crafts and skills.
Each camp had about 200 men, including an army officer and junior officer, camp doctor, educational
advisor, and the project supervisor.
The average camp had about 24 buildings, including kitchen, mess hall, barracks and quarters for the
officers. Many camps began as tent cities until the permanent camp could be built.

The West Rim Trail high on the canyon rim crosses Owassee Slide Run on a wooden footbridge.
(Description courtesy of Chuck Dillon, Explore Pa s Grand Canyon: Short Hikes in the Tioga State

Owassee Slide Run is the site of one of the Gorge s log slides, during the lumber era. The log slide
was used on a year round basis: during the winter the logs slid down on ice; following the snowmelt
the slide was greased to ease the descent of the logs. The logs were then loaded onto rafts and arks and
floated downstream.
Keep looking for wildlife here. This is pristine territory and there is little human access to the Gorge
from this point on, except via the creek and the rail trail. The road across from us is a dead end that
goes to some private cabins along the stream.

  • 2. Developing And Creating Medication From Pharmaceutical... Writing Assignment Introduction: Developing and creating medication is a lengthy and costly process that may take as long as 10 12 years and cost upwards of $1 2 billion dollar to bring a medication from research to production into the market. Once in the market, the patent law only protects the intellectual property for an additional 10 12 years before generic drugs flood the market. Give the time and cost of creating a new medication from start to finish, it is understandable that most pharmaceutical companies are hesitant to invest time and resources into so called Orphan disease. These are the disease that are rare and not very well studied or investigated in medical lecture yet it effects several thousands individuals worldwide. Therefore most pharmaceutical companies focus their resources on disease or conditions that are more common in general public and that will bring them huge revenue. Consequently, sexual dysfunction, high blood pressure and lipid lowering drugs are the favorite revenue generating medications that have attracted most of the R D money from pharmaceutical companies in the recent years. Many people expect pharmaceutical companies to do more to combat disease in poor countries. With record breaking revenue on some of the blockbuster drugs, many individuals would like to see more from an industry that is favoring certain money making diseases over others because the industry is favoring bottom line rather than number of lives saved. She later received a D.F.A. from Bates College in 2000. For many summers, she studied with Louis Horst at the American Dance Festival, which was then held at Connecticut College. Trisha moved to New York City to study composition with Robert Dunn, who had taught a class at Merce Cunningham s studio. This studio was based on John Cage s theories of chance. Brown rejected aspects of it but also maintained great admiration for him and his work. In 1961 she trained with dancer Anna Halprin and became a founding member of the avant garde Judson Dance Theater in 1962. There she worked with experimental dancers Steve Paxton, Twyla Tharp, Lucinda Childs, Yvonne Rainer, and David Gordon. In the late 1960s, Brown created her own works which attempted to defy gravity using equipment such as harnesses and ropes, which allowed dancers to walk on or down walls to experiment with the dynamics of stability. These equipment pieces were the first dances to comprise a distinct series in what would become a working method for her as she went on to create various cycles of dances throughout her career. This worm like animal is, in fact, not a worm; they are larva for the tenebrionid beetle. These larvae are most commonly used in order to feed household pets. For example: reptiles, fish, and birds. Tenebrio larvae are also considered pests to the most businesses. This is why they re given a pest s name mealworm . Mealworms are known for burrowing themselves in grains or flours and completely infesting businesses inventory. Tenebrio larvae will eat almost anything; they ll consume rotten wood, grasses, small plants, other insects, and even feces. Since meals worms are such an essential food supply to families who own pets, more needs to be understood ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In sum, we had a total of four different variables: pure cornstarch, natural raw wheat germ, extra virgin olive oil, and peanut oil. Our null hypothesis was that the larvae would have no preference toward any variable whatsoever. However, our alternate hypothesis was that the mealworms would prefer the habitat where the wheat and olive oil was present. For experiment 1, where my lab group and I predicted the mealworms would prefer the natural raw wheat germ rather than the pure cornstarch. This was determined by the food preferences of the adult version of the larva (tenebrionid beetle). These beetles love to eat grains and flours, so in turn this led us to our hypothesis for experiment 1. The mealworms would have a bias towards the wheat grain rather than the pure cornstarch. For experiment 2, my lab group and I predicted that the mealworms would prefer the olive oil rather than the peanut oil. This was determined by assumption that the stronger scent of the olive oil would attract the mealworms towards that specific environment. This would only be plausible if mealworms used a sense of smell in determining their environmental preferences. The mealworms would have a bias towards the olive oil rather than the peanut ... • 6. An Analysis Of Medea And The King Of Corinth Throughout the play, Medea, Medea proves that knowledge can destroy. She is surrounded by powerful men, but uses her intelligence as her weapon to get what she wants: revenge on Jason, her husband. She shows that physical power may not be the ultimate power that one may have, but that intellectual power can destroy what one may hold close to them. In the play, Kreon, the king of Corinth, holds his children to a higher importance than his country; Jason, Medea s husband, values his children and their status in society; and Aigeus, shows that having children would bring him great happiness. Medea is able to figure out what is most important to these three men to manipulate and cause revenge on Jason, who betrayed his vows to Medea. This eventually causes the murder of royalty as well as Jason and Medea s sons. Little does Jason know that the revenge Medea takes on him is total, as his sons, which are his legacy, are dead. Also, no one would want to marry Jason because Medea s on the loose, and can go after any woman that would pursue Jason. As Medea said, For those children [Jason] had from me he will never see alive again, nor will he on his new bride beget another child, for she is to be forced to die a most terrible death by these my poisons. The Comedy of Errors is one of Shakespeare s earliest and comedic creations, with inspiration drawn from the Roman comedy Menaechmi. The Royal Shakespeare Company was founded in 1961 with the goal to entertain and educate audiences on Shakespeare s works, by putting a modern twist on the performances. Their version of The Comedy of Errors, co produced with Told by an Idiot, manipulates the actor s movements, language and dramatic tension as well as the elements of theatre in order to convey the comedy and irony of the play to a young audience. The play follows the story of two sets of twins, Antipholus and their servants, Dromio, as they desperately search for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The costumes lacked a time period, making them look very messy and mismatched, with people wearing leg warmers while others wore bright blue mesh singlets. This mishmash of clothes created a focus issue as the audience s concentration was turned towards the costumes rather than the acting and dialogue. It is clear that the creatives were trying to the engage the younger, upper primary audience with the crazy costumes, but they failed to do so and created confusion over their impact to the dramatic meaning. Director Paul Hunter used many of the stylistic elements often seen in Commedia Del Arte performances. Similar to commedia performance, The Comedy of Errors was designed to be a travelling show, going from school to school to share their creation and educate students. Due to this, the set had to be simple and transportable and Vale achieves this successfully by using a simple square stage but managing to maintain many levels with seats behind the raised stage. Other commedia elements, such as mask work, is also used in the production to some extent, with both Antipoli wearing glasses that act as masks. The play also uses the idea of Master and Servants, a noticeable feature of commedia performances. The creatives also used audience participation to tell the story, by spraying water on them, getting them to direct actors to hidden ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Oscar Wao Essay The ending of a novel can be evaluated by the reader in several different ways, however to properly analyze the work is to further explore the logic of how everything has come to be. The ability of the author to show the reader that the ending is reasonable from the preceding action and the character s nature is what should truly be examined. Not only is the ending of The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz both happy and unhappy, it is logical in the sense that it follows logically from the climax of the novel all while the character s have been constant throughout, except Oscar. Trouble began to brew because of the woman, and it seemed logical to any normal person to discontinue the pursuit; but Oscar s stubbornness that was frequently depicted in situations throughout the novel led him to his death. In this novel there was no other way for Oscar to die logically; he needed a big bang to bow out of his eccentric life and what better way for him, than to die for love. True love, what Oscar had been searching for his entire life and finally found, had killed him. The conclusion of The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz is satisfying because the ending revolved around Oscar s death, the separate stories of the novel now intertwined because of him. His transformation and new personality was ultimately the cause of his death, but in a sense it can be considered happy because it seems just right. Oscar becomes a new person and breaks free of his nerdy and rejected persona. Diaz seamlessly weaves the ending of Oscar Wao s story and all the characters around him due to their natures and the preceding actions. The ending of this novel is convincing and logical because of Oscar s new transformation which led him to do things which he would have not done before. These things that he did, most specifically pursuing a woman he should not have, led him to his death. Despite the morbid ending, it is not unreasonable; it is certainly logical and therefore satisfying to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although there are no definite times for the start and end of the Little Ice Age, it is generally accepted that it occurred from approximately 1300 CE to 1850 CE. The coldest stage of this time lasted from around 1645 to 1715. Also, the expansion of mountain glaciers in several locations was a distinctive feature of the Little Ice Age. The event had various effects and its origins are disputable. Several causes of the Little Ice Age have been proposed. One of them describes a decrease in sunspot activity, or times when dark spots form on the sun due to low temperatures. The lack of sunspots during the LIA is known as the Maunder Minimum. Since it appeared to occur concurrently with the coldest part of the ice age, from 1645 to 1715, it was considered a plausible reason to explain the Little Ice Age. However, this theory has its flaws, because modeled simulations point to the idea that temperatures would ve dropped to a maximum of 0.4ºC, when the world saw actual decreases of 1 2ºC. Furthermore, the Little Ice Age started before the Maunder Minimum happened, so additional information is needed to explain the original cause of the LIA. Another idea for the catalyst of the Little Ice Age involves the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO), a circulation of atmospheric pressure in North America and northern Europe. This is where you will test your memory and also learn how to be relaxed the whole time. Three (3) techniques are ideal for practicing your speech and memorizing it very effectively. The first one is called the mental crowd simulator. To explain what it is in a few lines, we can say that it can be compared to daydreaming. You know, just like when you daydream while your favorite song is playing and at the same time, you are imagining yourself singing that song in front of a huge crowd? Well, this technique works the same way, where you have already memorized your speech, and you imagine yourself giving that speech to a large audience. You can daydream anywhere and at any time (with closed or opened eyes), so that s a plus to the technique. This is how you should basically proceed here; you will have to maintain your eyes, in one direction facing the wall, a table ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I will describe two operational level successes and two failures experienced during the operation. I will offer clear proposals, that if implemented could have prevented those failures. One of the operational level successes during OOD was that the Libyan Integrated Air Defense System (IADS) was quickly degraded and an effective No Fly Zone (NFZ) established. The second success was that maritime forces overcame logistics and target challenges in order to enforce the arms embargo. AFRICOM was not prepared or manned to do what they were being asked to do. As Secretary of Defense (SECDEF) Robert Gates stated, AFRICOM represents yet another important step in modernizing our defense arrangements in light of the twenty first century realities. It is, at its heart, a different kind of command with a different orientation... AFRICOM s mission is not to wage war, but to prevent it; not to show United States military presence, but to enhance the security forces of our partners . What could have prevented this failure was for AFRICOM to be set up as a full GCC capable of being able to complete kinetic operations, if needed. The second failure experienced during the operation was that AFRICOM did not have a clear cut end goal. Without a defined endstate for operations in Libya, AFRICOM was uncertain as to what resources it needed for operations. As Clausewitz wrote, No one starts a war or rather no one in his senses ought to do so without first being clear in his mind what he intends to achieve by that war and how he intends to conduct it. The former is its political purpose; the latter is its operational objective. Even though he stated this back in the 1800 s, Clausewitz s point is still appropriate. Hindus believe that ones circumstances in life are completely determined by his previous conduct, either in this life or in previous lives. This is called karma. By doing good deeds in this life, therefore, one can improve his circumstances in the future, especially in future reincarnations. (BG, p. 9,10) The final goal is to escape or be released from the cycle of reincarnation. Hindus will seek in life to be set free from birth, death, and rebirth, so that we exist in a state of pure impersonal being without a physical body. Jews, Christians and Muslims believe that man has only one life to live. In contradiction to the doctrine of karma, the Abrahamic religion believe that on earth, men often do not receive fair or just rewards for their lives they get their reward on judgment day. God will judge all men and declare our eternal rewards on the basis of our lives, whether we have lived it good or bad. After judgment, men receive their eternal destinies. The righteous receive eternal life, a state of bliss, in the presence of God. The wicked receive eternal punishment, suffering and sorrow, separated from God. In the Abrahamic religion the gift of life is received after we leave the earth, not on the earth. Finally Hindu s and Abrahamic religions also differ on their concept of Salvation. In the early twentieth century men played the public role in society they worked, they made up the government, and they also got to own property and vote. Whereas women had the private role in society at this time, they were supposed to stay at home and clean, cook, and take care of the children. The women of this time were sick of being treated a step lower than men, which started the creation of women s rights and the feminism movement. This is especially true for a novice, or introductory, reader getting into the finer aspects of literature or composition. Such as, Paul Rankin s (2005) essay, on Hemingway s Hills like White Elephants, lacks a motivated lead. The opening transition word could throw a reader in the opposite direction Rankin would have hoped for. The beginning paragraphs poor lead could cause one to become lost before the revelation of thesis which makes a poor asset to novice readers. With the opening word Although (Rankin, p. 234) would make sense if a complete thought was presented prior. It leaves one to ask, what this complete though could be. With this lingering thought of what was the original, paves the way for a very complex sentence, which is still a continuation of the leading thought. Now for someone venturing into the literary scene, to read a sentence of this magnitude, could become hesitant to continue. Although, the composition of the first sentence is artful, it could still be a hard read. Which, from a scholar s perspective is refreshing and at par. Queen Victoria is perhaps most famous for popularizing the white wedding dress (Woodham Smith). At the time, women were married in dresses of almost any color. However, when pictures of the queen in a beautiful white dress circulated, women began to imitate her example, just as they imitated her hairstyle on the postage (Queen Victoria Penny Black Single). After it became evident that Victoria and her new husband Albert were truly in love the white wedding dress became a romantic symbol of true love.
