The Wright Brothers, The Apollo Moon Mission, And The...
Throughout history, many of mankind s achievements were great, but few can compare to soaring up
into the sky. From the first functioning plane, to commercial flight, to space travel, people have been
innovating and creating so that one day, we can actually reach the stars. The Wright brothers, Amelia
Earhart, the Boeing 747, the Apollo Moon Mission, and the Challenger Space Shuttle were all
different people, objects , and events that contributed to people being able to get off the ground, into
the air, and even further, into space. The Wright brothers were two men that greatly contributed to
planes and flying today. Orville and Wilbur Wright were two aviation pioneers from America. With a
background in engineering and inventing, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Later in her life, she took lessons to learn how to fly planes. In 1922, she purchased The Canary . She
set the world record for highest altitude as a female pilot at 14,000 feet. In 1928, Earhart went across
the Atlantic Ocean to England. In 1937, she planned to do a flight around the world. Her first flight
had some issues, so it was canceled. On July 2, 1937, Earhart attempted to fly around the world again.
The flight was successful until it neared the end. Because of radio troubles, the people on the ground
lost contact with the plane. After the plane vanished, several theories sprung up on what happened to
the missing plane, and more importantly, the people on board. To conclude, Amelia Earhart followed
her passion and flew in order to promote flight, inspire others, and to set records. The Boeing 747,
also known as Jumbo Jet, is one of the most prominent and popular airplanes used in the past, and still
flown today. When it was launched commercially in 1970, it was a public transportation breakthrough.
This plane was built to transport mass amounts of people and cargo. The plane design had a passenger
capacity world record for 37 years. With it several designs, the most recent being the Boeing 747 8F

Today s Exhausted Superkids Analysis
In Frank Bruni s editorial, Today s Exhausted Superkids, he talks about the lack of sleep present in
many high school and college students. He attributes this loss in sleep to a variety of factors; although
he seems to place the blame mainly on education. He blames the stress of getting good grades on the
widespread lack of sleep. Throughout his article, Bruni used many studies and other writings to
support his points. My opinion on Bruni s editorial is that it was ineffective in getting the main point
across. I agree with many of the points that Mr. Bruni brought up, but I feel that the information he
used and the way he wrote the editorial were uneffective. He did use actual facts in some spots, though
I feel they were used at the wrong parts throughout the editorial. His main arguments were very
unorganized. The evidence used by Bruni in his editorial was not very effective at getting his point
across. Most of the evidence that he used throughout his paper were theories; theories are not always
true however. In his editorial, he placed a study about the lack of sleep present in high schools directly
above a study about the small amount of sleep that the average college student gets each night, making
the two different studies seem correlated. Throughout the course of the paper, Bruni ... Show more

While discussing the studies done in the Silicon Valley, he brought up unrelated topics; topics
including the slogan contest at the high school. When Bruni talked about the papers that other people
wrote, he would discuss what they wrote, jump to an unrelated topic, then return to what the person
said. Bruni would also change the topic from the lack of sleep present in students to why sleep is
important for those students. I felt that he should have focused on one of those two subjects to write
about, instead of trying to talk about both. Trying to discuss both caused his ideas to appear

The Plan For Family Structure

Genogram
The blueprint to family structure. Genogram an updated approach of researching conjectural family
events. It is also a road map for individuals to connect and note relationship patterns of multiple
generations. Moreover, it gives meaning to why family life cycles are disrupted in some area and
strong in others. As people study their family circle they gain understanding of how multiple
generations are influenced by the core values of family structure. In addition, with more in depth
inquiries, individual could trace how religion, social norms, historical events, rituals, tragedies, and

Diligence should be placed on the delicate and fragile similarities of physical, social, and
psychological disorder or dysfunction throughout segment of each generation. For the most part,
health alter how human experiences are framed by the interlocking nature of individual trajectories
and kinship networks in the context of temporal motion, culture, and social change (McGoldrick,
Preto, Carter, 2016, p. 1).
Looking at family structure, early generations raised their children with stay at home mothers,
working fathers, and neighbors as extended family. The middle generations have the complexity of
expanding their immediate family, managing elderly care, and later down the line supporting their
older children and their extended families. The younger generations are consumed with self insecurity
with the need to feel wanted.
Although throughout life transitions boundaries change, family relationship become strained, and roles
within family dynamics are constantly being altered and redefined. Family dynamic does not consist
of mother, father, and biological child or children. People are no longer calling or identifying their
family as biological connection, but individuals they form a connecting bond with that are not
genetically connected. In other word, there are major diverse integral role in marriages, immediate and
extended families.

Compare And Contrast Greek And Persian Wars
Luke Kania
World Civilization
September 18, 2017
The Greek and Persian Wars The Greek and Persian Wars were key events to making Greece one of
the most advanced and revered countries of its time. Although some city states of Greece were
conquered, two of them stood out to hold off Persia from taking over. These city states were Athens
and Sparta. In 491 BC King Dareios of Persia sent roughly 25,000 soldiers to key states of Greece
(Brown, 1). King Dareios s was looking to just gain a foothold in Greece so that he could soon send a
lot more troops and supplies there. Naxos was the first place that the Persians took over. Luckily, the
people of Naxos quickly fled out of their city unharmed when they realized that the Persians were
coming. The Persians continue to easily take ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So, the Athenian soldiers and some of the people of Euboia who did not want to surrender scurried
back to Athens. The Persians vigorously attacked the rest of the people in Euboia ending in many lives
being lost on both sides and the enslavement of the remaining survivors (Souza, 30).
Furthermore, the Persians next move was to gain ground in Attika by navigating through the Euboian
Straight and docking at the Bay of Marathon (Brown, 3). Here they would have access to a lot of
resources and have enough room to deploy their army. However, Athens did not want the Persians just
walking in on their territory and doing what they want. So, Athenian generals encountered the Persians
right when they arrived. An Athenian army of only 9,000 people conjugated along with 600 more from
their ally Plataia (Souza, 30). They marched to a place where they could oversee the road that goes
from Marathon to Athens (Souza, 31). Here they could tell if the Persians try to attack and take over
Athens. It was a very strategic move and kept the Persians from moving right in. In the meantime,
Athens sent out a

Essay A Career in Nursing
The thought of fast paced movement, interaction with people, and being able to help people is what
makes nursing sound like and interesting career. Nurses have a lot of responsibility around the
hospital. They provide care and make patients feel comfortable. Becoming a nurse has a lot of
responsibility to it. The career also needs someone who has good people skills but is also assertive. To
become a registered nurse a person can either earn an associate of science in Nursing, which is 2 years
of schooling, or an individual can earn a bachelor of science in nursing, which is 4 years of schooling
(Discover Nursing). An individual can choose if they want an associate s degree or a bachelor s
degree, but it is better to have more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

helping of the patient to do those things leading toward health or a piece of that which he ordinarily
would do for himself if he had the necessary strength, will or knowledge, and to help him in such a
way that he is able to do for himself as soon as possible (Fredrickson, 2). Nurses have many different
responsibilities but one of their main responsibilities is to provide care for patients in the best way
possible. Nurses must be ready at anytime to be able to take care of someone in need (Nurses for a
Healthier Tomorrow). They have to be able to remain calm, even in tense situations, and also need to
be able to come up with solutions fast and correct (Nursing School Programs). Nurses take direction
from doctors who are working on the same patients as them. Nurses do many different things for a
patient. They bandage wounds, retrieve information on the patient, and give the patient medicine that
the doctor has prescribed. The place a nurse works in is usually fast paced and a little overwhelming.
A type of nurse that seems like it would be exciting would be an emergency nurse. An emergency
nurse can work in ambulances, helicopters emergency room, and sports arenas. When it comes to all
the different kinds of nursing there is most likely a nursing that could fit anyone s personality
(Discover Nursing). There are a wide variety of pros to

Essay Princess Diana
One year ago, the death of a princess brought an entire world to tears. The wounds are slowly healing
and the grief is less painful. What remains are the lessons that can be learned from a phenomenon that
few can entirely forget. At the time it was a mystery. A divorced member of the royal family of a
medium sized European nation dies in a banal car accident in Paris, and for a week the sun, moon and
stars are knocked off their appointed tracks. Within days, Europe suffers a shortage of cut flowers as
tens of thousands of bouquets are laid before the house of the victim. Demand for newsprint soars; the
funeral, watched live on television throughout the world, attracts an audience of 1 billion.

Social Injustice In If You Come Softly, By Jacqueline Woodson
Different is Unique
Social injustice affects many people around the world. Race, religion, class, gender, and sexual
orientation are all apart of social injustice, outside characteristics are the first thing one is judged
upon. Today in society people get judged and dehumanized everyday, because they are looked at first
by their outside characteristics. In the realistic fiction books If You Come Softly by Jacqueline
Woodson, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne, and Miracle s boys also by Jacqueline
Woodson the authors demonstrate that social injustice can occur when individuals are viewed by only
their outward characteristics and beliefs.

The Day Of The Fluorescent Tourist Filled Road
The clock ticked down as we had less than thirty minutes to find our way out of the labyrinth that we
stumbled into. As we adventured further our once unscathed gleaming shoes became soiled as they
dredged through the dense, sticky mud that now engulfed the path. A path once created with the type
of gravel that crunches and crackles like a can being crushed. Naturally, every step lead farther out of
familiarity, inching into an unfamiliar landscape. Furthermore, the probability of returning to the
fluorescent tourist filled road dwindling. The maze we had stumbled upon threw us in a daze, as a

anxiety. Nonetheless, we were lost, as a result of countless deviations leaving us in a foreign location .
The equanimity of the breeze from the Caribbean sea granted us the opportunity to recollect the
memory of the detours we had chosen. To no avail, we were unable to unlock the portions of our
memories containing the needed information. As I yanked out my cell phone with hopes of accessing
my GPS, the greeting of a black screen with a flaming red depleted battery symbol beamed back. As I
turned around to my friend only five hundred feet behind an unpleasant salty taste flooded my mouth

The Between Modern And Modern Movement
Even if the Modern Movement has been interpreted in different ways, we consider function and
technology its main features . In fact, in this historical period, the exhibition of the tecnique takes, in
the designing process, different appearences, assuming solutions which go from the constructivism to
the expressionism, where every technical reference is hidden by a strong formalism.
Another analogy present in the Modern Movement is the function, that is the interaction between a
specific purpose and the natural purposes, existing priori.
All the modern architecture is based on this analogy interaction which defines its built forms and
compositive processes on the relation between a purpose to achieve and the inevitable of its relation
with the man, by finalizing to his life all the expressions of this purpose. All the estetic in the Modern
Movement pass through the obsession of the function, it is possible to see the manifestation of the
Modernism as a process connecting form, function and final purpose with the fact that we are a human
and vital act.
The Modernism presents the exaltation of the machine, of the aesathetic of dynamism, of speed and
industrialization. The celebration of the irreversible alienation that the machine, as a metaphor of
progression, causes on humans, and the breaking of ties between nature and artifact, are two of the
main features of the Modern Movement.
My purpose is to analyze the relation between form and function in the history of

Correlation Between The Salaries Of Working Men And Women
Wage differentials in the organization
Although women have made rapid gains in their level of labor market activity, they have made much
less progress in attaining wage parity with men(Smith and Ward 1989). That the career experiences
and advancement of women is different from those of men has been documented across many
professional areas, with most studies finding that men advance faster, further, and with greater
compensation (e.g. Cohen Gutek 1991,Jagacinski et al 1987,Morgan et al 1993, Schneer Reitman
1995). Research has consistently found significant disparities between the salaries of working men
and women (e.g. Corzine et al 1994, Stroh et al 1992).Often these differences are found even when
controlling for education, age, experience, and performance (e.g. Cox Harquail 1991). To explain these
salary differences, researchers have considered the influence of multiple roles.Apparently the number
of roles may interact with sex, so that marriage and parenthood is associated with higher salaries for
men but lower salaries for women (e.g. Cooney Uhlenberg 1991). Another hypothesis is that the
gender wage gap is due to women s disinclination to negotiate over salary; however, empirical
evidence fails to support this notion (Gerhart Rynes 1991). Finally,a number of researchers have
studied the relationship between job evaluations and gender type of jobs, arguing that bias in job
evaluations explains the lower salaries associated with female typed jobs (e.g. Mount

The City s Statute Violate The Equal Protection Clauses
The City s statute provides,
No person over the age 10 shall use a public restroom assigned to the opposite sex of that which is
listed on the person s birth certificate. Violation of this section is a misdemeanor, punishable by law .
The plaintiff s contention is that the city s statute violates the equal protection Clause of the 14th
Amendment. Since the classification at issue involves gender of the users of the public restrooms, it
falls within the quasi suspect categories. Therefore, this city must meet the intermediate scrutiny
standard.
This city statute requires the citizens at the age of 10 or older to use the public restroom designated for
their gender as listed on their birth certificates. When the government enacts a law ... Show more

Where a gender neutral alternative is available, the gender discriminatory classification is not said to
be the least intrusive means that the government can use, and therefore, the classification put forward
by the government is not necessary . However, the government would be required to show that the
means they use is necessary and narrowly tailored to advance its objectives only under strict scrutiny.
Where the classification is not invidious, not selecting the least discriminatory means would not
necessarily render the statute violative of equal protection. Rostker v. Goldberg, 453 U.S. 57, 101 S.
Ct. 2646 (1981). As established supra, it is the intermediate scrutiny standard that applies to the
present issue, and the City only needs to prove that its objective is important and the statutory
classification is substantially related to that objective. It is not necessary for the City to pursue the
least discriminatory means to pass the judicial review. The City will withstand intermediate

Power Of Rightwing Groups
With Donald Trump s election into the White House, the rightwing of American politics gained power
like they ve never had before. As their power progresses, it is incredibly important that both
Democrats and Moderate Republicans devise a strategy to hinder the spread of these ideas and limit
their power. The most important ways in which these individuals should resist the growing influence
of these rightwing groups include: focusing less on social issues and more on economic policy, calling
out rightwing anti race rhetoric and dog whistle politics, and by staying away from becoming an
extremist group themselves. It is only through these methods that we can oppose rightwing politics
and take the power away from the groups that currently have ... Show more content on

Not only will this process take legitimacy away from the Democrats in the long run, but it will also
only cause the rightwing to go further to the right. The only way to successfully oppose the rightwing
movement is to remain as logical and level headed as is possible. This is demonstrated in Claire
Conner s experiences with the John Birch Society. While the society was incredibly powerful at one
time, they eventually began to collapse once they went after prominent leaders. Many soon saw them
as radical and un logical. As we let the rightwing movements spiral more and more out of control,
anyone who is even close to moderate will leave them, thus weakening their power. Providing those
whose opinions begin to dissent from this group an alternative is vital to opposing them. Another
reason why it is so important to shy away from radical behavior and ideas is that it will make other
liberal arguments weaker. It will be near impossible to convince rightwing supporters that their leaders
are using coded racial appeals when they have already written us off. One argument that has pushed
liberals further away from logically discussion and further toward extremist emotional appeals is the,
Trump is just like Hitler saying. Even though historical evidence has shown that while this is true in
some ways, it s false in many others, many

Representation Of Love In Romeo And Juliet
Love is the profound theme in The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare.
Shakespeare portrays love as a violent yet ecstatic, overpowering force. The force of love persuades
the thoughts and actions of the characters leading them to drastic measures. Romeo and Juliet show
great devotion to one another despite the trouble it causes. Over the course of the play, Shakespeare
displays the forcefulness and intensity of love by the abandonment of friends and family, feud, and
death. Both Romeo and Juliet aren t afraid of the consequences of abandoning their loved ones.
Romeo leaves his friends behind in order to be with Juliet. In return, Juliet would give up her name,
and put her family on the line, just to be with Romeo. Juliet expresses her thoughts aloud as she says,
O Romeo, Romeo! wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name! Or, if thou wilt
not, be but sworn my love, and I ll no longer be a Capulet (II.ii.33 36). Both lovers have been driven

Beethoven wrote this to accompany a drama called Coriolan by Heinrich Joseph von Collin, in Vienna
in the year 1807 (Viant, K. C. Coriolan Overture, Op. 62. ). The drama is the same as the tragedy
written by William Shakespeare. The genre for this piece would be a concert overture. A concert
overture is played at a beginning of a concert and it is a one movement work in sonata form, and it is
always program music. Program music is instrumental music that is associated with story and in this
case, the story examines the problem of deposing a bad ruler and the consequent civil unrest
(McConnell, L. Coriolanus. ). The beginning of the piece starts with the strings, with the dynamics
being mezzo forte. With the addition of the flutes, it sounds mezzo piano. Near the end, there are
pizzicato, where the string instruments are plucked and the dynamics is in piano. The tempo of the
piece is moderato overall. The beginning is more allegretto and near the end it is more adagio. The key
of this piece is in C minor. Since this is an overture, the piece was around ten minutes.
The second piece sounded more unique since there were soloists. The Triple Concerto. It was
composed in 1803 and it was the only concerto Beethoven composed with more than one soloist. This
is one of the longer pieces and continued for approximately 40 minutes. The genre of this piece is
triple concerto, where there is a large ensemble with three instrumental soloists which in this piece are

African Americans Dbq
Why do we hate? Why do we lie? Why do we forget? Three questions provide a strong explanation of
how African Americans were treated, whether it was the use of verbal or physical abuse. These
questions also describes how African Americans were implied into education. Authors wrote many
issues regarding the ignorance and abolishment of slavery in more of a Whites perspective to teach the
American society what they want to hear and not what actually happened. And further more, forgotten

The Issue Of Bargaining Over Position
Negotiation is part of everyday life, and we use it to get something that we want from other people.
The problem that Roger Fisher and William Ury refer to is the issue of bargaining over position. When
we argue over positions, it produces undesirable outcomes. In negotiations, people tend to pay
attention to the position, and not the underlying concerns of both parties. This is not only inefficient,
but it can also lead to strained relationships between two parties. Getting to Yes: Negotiating
Agreement Without Giving In by Fisher and Ury is a step by step guide to negotiating using a method
known as principled negotiations. In principled negotiation, you and the other party are seen as the
problem solvers rather than adversaries. The goal of principled negotiation is always to reach an
outcome efficiently and amicably.
The Method
Every negotiation will involve people, and Fisher and Ury make it very clear that people are not
perfect. While some may be good communicators, others may not be good listeners on the receiving
end. We have our own interests and goals, in which we tend to see from our point of view. According
to Fisher and Ury, the first step to a successful negotiation is to separate the people from the problem.
The most common human problem that we face tends to be perception, emotion and communication.
To prevent these problems from happening, the authors suggest that we build a working relationship
and focus on the problem itself, not the

Shrew Katherina Quotes
Since the beginning of the book, Kate has had trouble with her behavior. No man wants to marry her
because she acts like a shrew. The underlying cause of her issues start with her relationship with her
father and sister. Kate s bad relationship with her father and sister has caused her shrewish behavior;
Petruchio has caused her to change for the good by forcing her to submit to him. Kate s submission is
key to her changing her shrewish behavior. Kate s relationship with her sister shines through in Act 2
Scene 1. The act opens with Bianca and Kate fighting because Kate has tied up Bianca s hands.
Though in most scenes Katherina is attacking someone else, in a real sense all of her anger is against
Bianca and her father says Mr. Leithart (Leithart 220). Katherina has bottled up the treatment given to
her and starts to lash out with shrewish behavior. She even strike her sister in the first scene which
shows that her character is wild. Underneath, Kate has some jealousy against Bianca. Her sister is
prettier and all of the gentlemen want Bianca s hand in marriage. Her father has also provoked
jealousy because of his favoritism towards Bianca. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Bend It Like Beckham Gender Essay
The film Bend it Like Beckham, directed by Gurinder Chadha, shows two eighteen year old females
from different cultures with a desire to become professional soccer players. Parminda Nagra plays the
role of Jesminder Jess Bhamra, a British Indian, who bends the rules of her culture to play soccer with
Jules, played by Keira Knightley, who comes from an English family. Both females wanted to become
professional soccer players, but their mother despised it. Not only does it focus on soccer, but it shows
how the role of gender affects the characters, how cultural differences interfere as the film progress,
and how sexism is an issue. By the end, it shows approval of the oppositional gaze. In U.S. media,
women are underrepresented regardless of the form (238). In the first scene, Jess dreams about playing

Near the end of the movie, Mr. Bhamra finally speaks on how he feels about Jess s actions. He says:
Those English players threw me out of their club like a dog. I never complained. On the contrary, I
vowed I would never play again. Who suffered? Me. I don t want Jess to suffer. I don t want her to be
like her father and accept situations... I want her to fight, and I want her to win. I have seen her play,
and she is brilliant. (Bend it Like...)
In this scene, Chadha forces the silenced to develop and to allow critical judgments and assessments.
It does not discipline the gaze; instead, it praises the oppositional gaze as essential because it can
transform the norm into what it can and should be. The director Chadha reflects Jess because Punjabi
women are portrayed as housewives and not soccer women; furthermore, women of color are allowed
to be objects of the gaze, but directing the camera is rare. Chadha takes a position white men are

Literary Analysis Of Plato s The Myth Of The Cave
The writing is, overall, a dialogue which is dominated in arguments by one of those who dialogues:
Plato, who is not mentioned explicitly in the conversation taking place, however, he is the writer of the
piece, and historically known as the character that is steering the message on it. Plato develops during
the progress of the story an analogy, where he pictures slaves being only exposed to a limited reality
of shadows inside a cave, when one of them is liberated to the outside of the cavern, facing realism
and opening his comprehension, his former partners question his mental stability thinking he was
affected by what he saw after his freedom. Plato as the author of the piece, and as the character
narrating the analogy, is trying to explain the incomprehension suffered by the philosopher, putting the
philosopher as the inquisitive being who discovers reality, experiencing the disapproval of the non
philosopher world: the slaves.
The essay The Myth of the Cave by Plato is well written because of his utterly original structure
which does not follow a classic flow, because the piece flows smoothly between the conversation of
Plato and his interlocutor and the myth being narrated on Plato s parts, one does not realize this
unusual structure is implemented to deliver the message exquisitely.
The general purpose of the piece is not seen until the intermediate paragraphs when Plato says: ...The
prison house is the world of sight, the light of the fire is the sun, and you will

Working Out Research Paper
Exercise: Just why? I need to work out today. Everyone in their lifetime has probably said that more
than 100 times. But, do they need to work out? Yes. Working out or exercising is a key part in staying
healthy. I think that the 3 key parts of staying healthy are 1: Eating healthy, 2: Getting a good amount
of sleep, and of course, 3: exercising. That s why people need to work out. They want to follow these
healthy habits. Of course, most people don t succeed. But, we all try. Because, working out or
exercising is for you and your overall health. One reason exercise is good for you is that exercise helps
you stay fit. Fitness is an important part of staying healthy. You need to stay fit in order to keep your
body parts from failing. Your whole body relies on your fitness. People who don t work out often turn
out overweight or too skinny. According to WebMD, exercising helps boost your heart rate, which
helps make workouts easy. So, for people who think working out is hard that sentence proves you

The Importance Of Forensic Science In Criminal Justice
In recent decades, there has been wide controversy over forensic science in criminal justice and it s
credibility. Criminal justice system relies on forensic evidence, which includes bite mark and hair
analysis, to convict criminals. People began questioning the legitimacy when the FBI admitted to the
flaws in hair analysis in hundreds of cases that occurred over decades before the 2000s. Not only those
cases but many others in which the evidence was not scientific legitimate. According to The National
Registry of Exonerations, more than 2,000 people have been exonerated in recent decades. More than
400 of those, were because of misleading or flawed evidence. This all has proven that these methods
used for hundreds and thousands of years need to be fixed and changed. In the state of Texas for
example, they have a reorganized commission that is working to improve forensic science within the
state. The issue is also the prosecutors and many in the criminal justice system. They defend these
methods because of its long standing practice. Which has already proven, that it is not credible in
proving someone s innocence and it has cost many of people s lives.
Forensic Science Credibility Research has shown that in many cases the evidence is not credible.
Brandon Garrett, who is a member of the advisory board of the National Registry of Exonerations,
wrote: Traditional forensics put these people in prison in the first place. People came in and said, The

Comparing The Monkey s Paw And A Sound Of Thunder
Be careful what you wish for you just might get it. This quote means that even though your wishes are

wishes they had made. To begin with, quoted from the story The Monkey s Paw I wish for two

Land reform: involves the changing of laws, regulations or customs regarding land ownership. Land
reform may consist of government initiated or government backed property redistribution, generally of
agricultural land. Land reform can, therefore, refer to transfer of ownership from the more powerful to
the less powerful, such as from a relatively small number of wealthy owners with extensive land
holdings such as plantations, large ranches, or agribusiness plots to individual ownership by those who
work the land (Rosegrant Hazell 2000).
Land reform may also entail the transfer of land from individual ownership even peasant ownership in
smallholdings to government owned collective farms; it has also, in other times and places, referred to
the exact opposite: division of government owned collective farms into smallholdings. For example, in
Zimbabwe this process of land reform is in progress whereby the government is take land to the white
and gives it to the black native Zimbabwean and the government is trying to do this to make sure that
poor people do have land to cultivate hence reducing poverty since the large area of land was
controlled by the whites.
Another issue is of land tenure reform which is also under the same land reform program. Land tenure
is system how land is owned. It is important for the government to put policies

Taking a Look at Social Loafing
George (1996) stated that individuals who reduce effort when performing collectively than when
performing independently and where the individuals performance cannot be acknowledged as
excellent and important are called as social loafing (Joseph Timothy 2012). Social loafing is the
characteristic of individuals in a part of their academic life. It may be seen as a failure to willingly
satisfy the duties and commitments to others because of the perception of reduced social pressure. Yet,
social loafer or free rider without exerting effort in a team will gain benefits from the work of others
as the outcome of the team performance is shared by the team members (Weldon Mustari 1988, p. 33).
Many researchers study about how social loafing is affected by the duty and self discipline problems.
Robbins (1995, p.337) found out some explanations which are linked to Expectancy Values Theory to
interpret why social loafing happens in the workplace. This theory mentioned that the behaviour
human perform is guided by their values, beliefs and social circumstances (Shepperd Taylor 1999,
p.1148). It assumes that employees make choice according to their perception of their given behaviour
will come out with desired outcome that is value. When these three conditions are met, employees will
feel motivated and exert more effort in their team work (Eccles Wigfield, 2002, p. 120). For instance,

The Murder Of Mankind By Isaac Rosenberg
The Murder of Mankind War Critic Udari Munasinghe unlocks the ideology of War. Two armies that
fight each other is like one large army that commits suicide Patriotism towards one s home is the lie
that resulted in the murder of over 17 million soldiers during World War one. The Great War was said
to be the the war to end all wars but instead lead to mass slaughter. Many of us still dignify the war in
glory and honour, however, in the eyes of the soldiers, war was never about glorifying, but to its
absurdity, it was about promising death to those who took the chance. Not long after World War One
started, the dark reality of war was exposed through the veracious poets who shared their experiences
and revealed the insanity and futility of war. Isaac Rosenberg was a recognised poet who revealed the
hidden truth; he was a soldier who joined war in 1960, however, unlike others, he came from a Jewish,
working class background which differed him from other well known First World War poets. The
perception of life and death, in which time is juxtaposed with setting, is reflected in Isaac Rosenberg s
unrhymed free verse poem, Break of Day in the Trenches . Through this anti war poem, his inhuman
experiences in the battlefields are brought to the present. Set in the trenches of a battlefield, Rosenberg
uses cohesive and emotive language to capture the bemusement of an infantryman and the
confrontation of horror and suffering that arose

Essay On Two Frat Boys Exploratory
After being hit by waves of nostalgia for the past few days, I think it is good time to look back on a
review I penned a few years ago. Exactly a decade ago, Hollywood produced not one, but two wonder
children (or rather, young adults). The unique backstory of an Oscar winning film written by two frat
boys fresh out of college enticed households across the country. The niched marketing of the film
seemed to, in fact, destine it for greatness. Indeed, Damon and Affleck brought to the table a
contemporary edge long awaited for in the film industry, something suitable for their status as the
young generation of rising stars. Rather than a grandiose of monologues with dramatic addresses and
touching tributes, as well as booming tones and reverberating words echoing off walls, Sean and Will
s scene at the park almost seems as if it were tossed out without a deliberate care in the world. It is,
after all, a speech originating from a swan fetish . And yet, Sean Maguire s soft spoken drawl achieves

The Origins Of The Oldest Civilization
The oldest civilization was in Mesopotamia between two rivers. Mesopotamia means the land between
the rivers. Hence the name, Mesopotamia is found in the Fertile Crescent between the Tigris and the
Euphrates Rivers, which is now known as Iraq. Since the land was very fertile in Mesopotamia, the
crops grew incredibly well and that helped lead to the development of civilizations. Mesopotamia had
eight civilizations: Sumer, Akkad, Babylon, Hittites, Assyria, New Babylon, Phoenicians, and Israel.
Sumer lasted from 3200 b.c. until 1900 b.c. Sumer was ruled by a king who had the responsibility of
maintaining the city walls and the irrigation systems. Once the king passes, his power is then passed
down to the next eligible son in the family which is known as hereditary rule. Sumer was a Theocracy,
meaning that the religious leaders were in charge of the government and ruling system. The officials
or ruler of Sumer kept records, led armies into war, enforced laws, and collected taxes. The people of
Sumer were Polytheistic; they believed in many gods. There was also a large religious stepped
platform dedicated to every city state s chief god or goddess named Ziggurat. Sumerians came up with
the style of Cuneiform writing and in addition they used a system of pictographs for communication.
This helped them document and keep records. They also had ideas and theories of Astronomy and
math. Sumer farmed and traded and it had the world s first cities, Ur, Uruk, and Babylon. Overall ,

managed to meet the customers requirement by customizing the product but actually in total the
company gained lesser profitability and profit growth due to higher cost per unit of products produced.
Question 3 How would you characterize the strategy Coke is now pursuing? What is the enterprise

it has been practiced by many multinational companies like Procter and Gamble, Xerox and etc.
Goizueta s approach was on Global Strategy and Daft s approach was more on localization strategy.
The transnational Strategy actually is a combination of both Global and Localization Strategy. The

Probation Parole And Parole Case
Approximately 1 in 51 adults in the United States was under community supervision at yearend 2013,
the lowest rate observed since 1996 (Herberman Bonczar, 2014, p.1). Probation/parole supervision
also known as community supervision, helps individuals (ex criminals) acclimate back in their
community. Probation is used when a judge chooses to let the offender serve his sentence under
officer supervision in the community, rather than in prison. It is usually given to individuals that have
committed a non violent/ minor infraction or that have a really good defense attorney. However, when
someone has been sent to prison for an extended period of time but have served a certain amount of
their time or has proven to the Parole Board that they have improved their behavior, will be released to
a Parole officer. The probation and parole program is comprised of two approaches casework and
brokerage. Casework approach deals with the offender as a flawed person that needs help; brokerage
approach is when the probation/parole officer uses his influence in the community to assist the
criminal in finding employment or programs. Knowing how to use these approaches along with
monitoring techniques will assist in the officer and offender being successful. This paper will examine
the approaches to PO work along with the types of monitoring used to keep track of offenders. The

If I were to tell you that a group of federal inmates guilty of a variety of crimes that included,
embezzlement, drug manufacturing, child pornography, and murder were in your community, the
average person would want to know where those criminals were located and shut that location down.
In many cities across the United States, there are facilities that house these convicted inmates. The
facilities are called halfway houses, and they were created to help an inmate that is released from
prison transition into a community under supervision. The halfway house program can be a beneficial

Another problem that the prison system face is that after an inmate is released from prison, they have a
very high probability to repeat the offenses that they went to prison for originally. Halfway houses
have been a proven way to increase the chance of success for inmates once they have finished their
sentence, and this keeps them from further burdening an already straining system. The Bureau of
Prisons spends a large amount of money housing, feeding, and attempting to rehabilitate convicts.
Given the current laws in place, it is hard to offset the costs required to run those prisons. Residents
participating in halfway house programs are extremely low cost when compared to those inmates
residing in the prison system. The differences in costs can be associated the lower amount of
compensation for staff, smaller facilities, and cheaper utilities. The residents of halfway houses are
required to give 25 percent of the gross income they earn to the Bureau of Prisons. Given the large
difference in cost factors, halfway houses are a very economical way for the Bureau of Prisons to save
money on the last six months of an inmate s sentence. The probation office has also reaped the
rewards of halfway houses. Inmates that are released from prison, they will usually be required to
have supervision by a probation officer. In the past when a felon violated a condition of their
probation, there were very few ways to punish that person, and those punishments usually

swamp seems endless to the speaker, suggesting that they think the struggles they are facing will never

The key ideas of my appropriation for Macbeth would include power and ambition. This would
communicate the key ideas of shakespeare to the audience as many of his plays would consist of
tragedy and frequent death as the cost for something positive that would happen in this case it would
be that Macbeth sought out careless power without looking onto the consequences that would ensue
the near future being blinded by his own ambition and lust for power. These key ideas are relayed in
the original play as Macbeth s ambition was fueled by his wife Lady Macbeth though in my own
version of the play Macbeth Donahue has a self fueled ego(ambition) and lust for power as shown
once the opportunity to kill the Capo Di Tutti Capi of Chicago had revealed

Biography Of Zora Neale Hurston
February is Black History Month, when the country remembers and celebrates the contributions of its
African American citizens. Blacks have been a part of Florida history for the longest of time. Florida
has been shape by historians such as, Zora Neale Hurston, Mary McLeod Bethune, and Joseph W.
Hatchett these historians have paved the way for black s folks toady. To kick it off, Zora Neale
Hurston, her best known work is a novel which captures the culture of a working class black
community. Zora was considered by many people to be the pre eminent (excellent) black female
writer in the country. Her work was everywhere, in major magazines and on bookshelves. She
consulted on screenplays for Hollywood. She was also one of the brightest lights of the Harlem
Renaissance in the 1930s. An occasional collaborator with Langston Hughes and a rival of Richard
Wright . Although she was born in Alabama she s still a big figure for Floridians. Hurston s star faded
and she died poor and unknown in 1960. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After her marriage and move to Florida, Bethune became determined to start a school for girls.
Bethune moved from Palatka to Daytona because it had more economic opportunity; it had become a
popular tourist destination and businesses were thriving. In October 1904, she rented a small house for
$11.00 per month. She made benches and desks from discarded crates, and acquired other items
through charity. She was born in North Carolina but she also plays an important role in Florida history.
By the information that I present above you can tell that Mary McLeod Bethune was a determined

Pipeline For The Transportation Of Crude Oil
large and massive demands of oil (Iron Mountain, 2016). However, the above challenges can be
addressed in the following ways: Pipelines used in the transportation of crude oil should be correctly
placed (Iron Mountain, 2016). This requires good planning to be done by the local authorities to
ensure that the pipelines are set up well. For instance, pipelines should not be closely located to the
areas where people reside or carry out their daily activities because explosions are likely to occur any
time. The health of the public is the most important when it comes to safety in a company. The name

There should, therefore, be a way of letting specific responders to be aware of the train schedules and
routes. There is also a mobile app called Ask Rail, which is developed for the emergence of
responders providing access to data relating to the train with the incidents (Molinski, 2015). This gives
the responders a chance to know about the train which has had an incident and rush to rescue any
victim of the incident. This increases the safety of the railroad. Since there are no such measures that
have been put across in the tanker truck, the railroad is a better method of oil transportation. New rules
should be introduced for the use of trains in oil transportation. There has been debate over new rules
of transporting oil via the railroad. These rules require that trains be installed with new brakes that will
stop hazardous materials that are flammable (Stevens, 2015). There have been appeals to challenge the
new rules. However, the safety administration denies these calls since their aim is to reduce incidents
in the railroad during transportation of oil. This has increased concern about the transportation of oil
over the railroad (Stevens, 2015). Once the railroad has been implemented in this company, new rules
that are strict have to be set before the trains are used. Appendix

Archetypes In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men And La Strada
Rios 1
Natalie Rios
Mr. Tlumack
Honors English 10
3 December 2017 Archetypal Comparison Of Mice and Men and La Strada Archetypes can vary
dramatically through out books, movies and similar works of entertainment. However some writers or
directors may have the same kind of archetypes but present them in different ways. In the book Of
Mice and Men and the film La Strada archetypes such as grotesques, the journey, as well as social
hierarchy are present through out the entirety of each work to convey a larger more profound meaning.
John Steinbeck, author of Of Men and Men, and Federico Fellini, director of La Strada, use similar
archetypal to convey their own intention for their works. The use of grotesques in both works takes
form in the characters Lennie and Gelsomina. Each of the two characters suffers from their own flaw
that separates them from being seen as normal characters. In Of Mice and Men Steinbeck conveys
Lennie to be a man caught between civilization and nature. Through out the book he is never mentally
stable enough to be apart of civilization. As seen in chapter one he ...flung himself down and drank
from the surface of the green pool; with long gulps, snorting into the water like a horse. (Steinbeck. 3)
he acts like a wild animal incapable of a logical thought process. Lennie only ever sees things in the
moment and does not think of the repercussions that his actions could warrant after the fact. This

Suicidal Ideation
The issue about suicide, suicidal ideation, and attempted suicide is a serious issue that should be
addressed and told to every professional that are providing assistance to clients. Even though this type
of training is discussed to individuals working within the human services and mental health
profession, it should also be told to individuals that do not have a mental illness. Suicidal ideation and
attempted suicide can present itself to any person at any age and ability. From my perspective, this
type of issue should not be taken lightly, and not only informed to those working in the human
services and mental health field. Suicide, suicidal ideation, and attempted suicide should be explained

When conducting the intake to obtain from the client what services he need assistance with obtaining,
he struggled with expressing his needs. I had to assist and explain the type of services gain an
understanding of what he wants to obtain. I handled the interview by being patient with the client. I
provided the client the time he needed to express himself to me when he is able to. The client
responded to me to the best of ability. He was mostly quiet when being asked about the services he
need help with obtaining, but he did manage to say what was on his mind with assistance provided.
My objective was achieved. I was able to get the client state to me his need of services. I provided him
different types of linkage to services, as he was able to acknowledge and state what he need during the
interview. The focus for future work to continue with assisting clients to inform them about ICMS and
the type of services we are able to link them to out in the community. When conducting that intake at
the time, it is important to keep in mind that clients function at a pace they are comfortable with.
Agenda for Supervisory Conference
The agenda for supervisory conference is to inform my Supervisor and Field Task Instructor about the

The Perils And Privileges Of Auto Ethnography
Reading Response Week 4: The Perils and Privileges of Auto Ethnography
Although not mentioned in this week s Marshall/Rossman chapter, feminism and autoethnography has
popped up before in prior readings, so there is some familiarity with both concepts. Now comes what
their synthesis looks like in practice. In this light the readings forced me to re examine positionality,
especially in the framework of auto ethnography. At first I thought this was too obvious but in light of
the titular question Stacey asks Can There Be a Feminist Ethnography? the feminist researcher s
proximity to the data and interpretation positionality becomes the fraught answer to consider, Her
awkwardness (if that s the right word) in balancing the tightrope as an ethical researcher between
product and personal integrity feels unexpected yet palpable. The dilemma she faces forced my
recognition that conflicts of interest and emotion between the ethnographer as authentic, related
person (i.e. participant), and as exploiting researcher (i.e. observer) (23). I feel as if she as a feminist
researcher was startled by the dilemma she faced and wonder if her surprise was compounded by not
anticipating it . How much an epiphany is it to learn that participants come with their own agendas?
Therefore participants come with their own inherent powers which threaten to usurp the researcher
and her own objectives. In the wake of this surprise she asks the provocative introspective question

The reason I would choose this school is because it is four hours from Fargo. I wouldn t be too far
from home and the tuition to get in is $49,900. The Mayo Clinic School in Rochester is the top 11th
medical school in the country. The faculty student ratio is 16 1 which is very impressive. The
applicants must be a resident of the United States, or Canada, but foreign nationals are not eligible for
admission. Also, you need to have one year of biology, one year of inorganic chemistry, one year of
inorganic chemistry, one year of physics, and one course in biochemistry. Another school that would
be appropriate would be the University of North Dakota in Grand forks, which is only 1 hour and 17
minutes. Plus, the cost is way cheaper than the May Clinic School which is $4,068.50 for UND. UND

Student Chamber Music Concert
On Monday, April, 18, 2016, I attended a concert held by Wake Forest University s Department of
Music. The performance was titled Student Chamber Music I Concert and it began promptly at
7:30pm. 7. The program that was distributed when I came in was very helpful in explaining the
repertoire. The music to my surprise was very enjoyable! The concert began with a flute ensemble.
The first work they played was called Allegro by Demenico Cimarosa. This sonata was originally
written in the Romanic Era for the piano. There were six flutists playing. The next composition was
Madrigals by Samuel Adler which was composed for six flutists and written in the Twentieth Century.
The final programmatic song the flute ensemble played was Bohemian Dance ... Show more content

There were two students with violas and two students with cellos. They began with My Lady Hundson
s Puffe by John Dowland. At the beginning of this song from the Renaissance Era, they plucked the
strings of their instruments. One of the cellists left and began to play the harpsicord. I could not tell
when this work ended and when the next work, John Come Kisse Me Now by William Byrd began. I
felt awkward because neither I nor the audience gave applause. This work was also from the
Renaissance Era. The harpsichord solo was very unpleasant to listen to. Their final performance was,
Two masquing dances which featured The Goates Masque and The Witches Second Dance . The
works were composer was anonymous. Even though, these two works were from the Renaissance Era,
they had more melody and somewhat of a sonata form. This was my least favorite section of the
concert. Following the Consort were four guitarists. They played Gypsy Dances, Op. 55 by the
Twentieth Century composer, Jacquin Turina. The first movement, Ritual Dance was slow and formal
sounding. As they moved to the second movement, Seduction Dance , the tempo started out slow but
gradually became faster. The guitars seemed like they were doing a call and response. The third and
last movement, Zambra , was played at a very fast tempo. There were more guitar solo parts in this
section. There was also a rondo at the

Essay about Violence in Greasy Lake and The Things They...
Both Tim O Brien s The Things They Carried and T. Coraghessan Boyle s Greasy Lake display
characters similar reactions to violence, but in different settings and circumstances. In The Things
They Carried, Fist Lieutenant Jimmy Cross is a soldier in the Vietnam War who finds solace and
escape in fantasies of a young woman from home. One of Cross s soldiers dies due to his daydreaming
and forces him to abandon these fantasies. In Greasy Lake, the main character finds enjoyment in
picking fights and breaking the law. A late night tussle leads to encounter with a dead body, causing
the main character to reflect upon his wild lifestyle. Both stories show a coming to maturity through
violence, though in different forms. In The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He couldn t help it (O Brien 630). Surrounded by a world a war and violence, these daydreams are the
only escape Lieutenant Cross has and he embraces them fully. When faced with violence, the main
character from Greasy Lake not only accepts it, but encourages it. Upon the boy s arrival to Greasy
Lake, he and his friends mistakenly hassle a stranger and his girlfriend. Instead of apologizing for the
disturbance and trying to reason with the stranger, he and his friends immediately engage in battle,
beating the stranger unconscious. The rage and violence of this attack does not end here. The main
character turns his attention to the stranger s girlfriend: It was the fox that set us off she was
already tainted. We were on her grabbing for flesh (Boyle 133). The rape does not occur as the boys
are chased away by an approaching vehicle, but the intent of a second violent event was fully present.
Every opportunity for violence encountered by the main character is met with open arms. In The
Things They Carried, violence brings forth an epiphany for First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross. Lieutenant
Cross, while seeking comfort in his imagination, allows one of his men to be shot and killed. His lack
of security led to an unnecessary casualty: [Cross] hated himself. He had loved Martha more than his
men, and as a consequence Lavender was

  • 2. The Wright Brothers, The Apollo Moon Mission, And The... Throughout history, many of mankind s achievements were great, but few can compare to soaring up into the sky. From the first functioning plane, to commercial flight, to space travel, people have been innovating and creating so that one day, we can actually reach the stars. The Wright brothers, Amelia Earhart, the Boeing 747, the Apollo Moon Mission, and the Challenger Space Shuttle were all different people, objects , and events that contributed to people being able to get off the ground, into the air, and even further, into space. The Wright brothers were two men that greatly contributed to planes and flying today. Orville and Wilbur Wright were two aviation pioneers from America. She set the world record for highest altitude as a female pilot at 14,000 feet. In 1928, Earhart went across the Atlantic Ocean to England. In 1937, she planned to do a flight around the world. Her first flight had some issues, so it was canceled. On July 2, 1937, Earhart attempted to fly around the world again. The flight was successful until it neared the end. Because of radio troubles, the people on the ground lost contact with the plane. After the plane vanished, several theories sprung up on what happened to the missing plane, and more importantly, the people on board. To conclude, Amelia Earhart followed her passion and flew in order to promote flight, inspire others, and to set records. The Boeing 747, also known as Jumbo Jet, is one of the most prominent and popular airplanes used in the past, and still flown today. When it was launched commercially in 1970, it was a public transportation breakthrough. This plane was built to transport mass amounts of people and cargo. The plane design had a passenger capacity world record for 37 years. With it several designs, the most recent being the Boeing 747 8F for passengers, the plane is versatile and has been used to this day, in airports around the world. • 3. Today s Exhausted Superkids Analysis In Frank Bruni s editorial, Today s Exhausted Superkids, he talks about the lack of sleep present in many high school and college students. He attributes this loss in sleep to a variety of factors; although he seems to place the blame mainly on education. He blames the stress of getting good grades on the widespread lack of sleep. Throughout his article, Bruni used many studies and other writings to support his points. My opinion on Bruni s editorial is that it was ineffective in getting the main point across. I agree with many of the points that Mr. Bruni brought up, but I feel that the information he used and the way he wrote the editorial were uneffective. He did use actual facts in some spots, though I feel they were used at the wrong parts throughout the editorial. His main arguments were very unorganized. The evidence used by Bruni in his editorial was not very effective at getting his point across. Most of the evidence that he used throughout his paper were theories; theories are not always true however. In his editorial, he placed a study about the lack of sleep present in high schools directly above a study about the small amount of sleep that the average college student gets each night, making the two different studies seem correlated. Throughout the course of the paper, Bruni ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While discussing the studies done in the Silicon Valley, he brought up unrelated topics; topics including the slogan contest at the high school. When Bruni talked about the papers that other people wrote, he would discuss what they wrote, jump to an unrelated topic, then return to what the person said. Bruni would also change the topic from the lack of sleep present in students to why sleep is important for those students. I felt that he should have focused on one of those two subjects to write about, instead of trying to talk about both. Trying to discuss both caused his ideas to appear ... Diligence should be placed on the delicate and fragile similarities of physical, social, and psychological disorder or dysfunction throughout segment of each generation. For the most part, health alter how human experiences are framed by the interlocking nature of individual trajectories and kinship networks in the context of temporal motion, culture, and social change (McGoldrick, Preto, Carter, 2016, p. 1). Looking at family structure, early generations raised their children with stay at home mothers, working fathers, and neighbors as extended family. The middle generations have the complexity of expanding their immediate family, managing elderly care, and later down the line supporting their older children and their extended families. The younger generations are consumed with self insecurity with the need to feel wanted. Although throughout life transitions boundaries change, family relationship become strained, and roles within family dynamics are constantly being altered and redefined. Family dynamic does not consist of mother, father, and biological child or children. People are no longer calling or identifying their family as biological connection, but individuals they form a connecting bond with that are not genetically connected. Compare And Contrast Greek And Persian Wars Luke Kania World Civilization September 18, 2017 The Greek and Persian Wars The Greek and Persian Wars were key events to making Greece one of the most advanced and revered countries of its time. Although some city states of Greece were conquered, two of them stood out to hold off Persia from taking over. These city states were Athens and Sparta. In 491 BC King Dareios of Persia sent roughly 25,000 soldiers to key states of Greece (Brown, 1). King Dareios s was looking to just gain a foothold in Greece so that he could soon send a lot more troops and supplies there. Naxos was the first place that the Persians took over. The Persians vigorously attacked the rest of the people in Euboia ending in many lives being lost on both sides and the enslavement of the remaining survivors (Souza, 30). Furthermore, the Persians next move was to gain ground in Attika by navigating through the Euboian Straight and docking at the Bay of Marathon (Brown, 3). Here they would have access to a lot of resources and have enough room to deploy their army. However, Athens did not want the Persians just walking in on their territory and doing what they want. So, Athenian generals encountered the Persians right when they arrived. An Athenian army of only 9,000 people conjugated along with 600 more from their ally Plataia (Souza, 30). They marched to a place where they could oversee the road that goes from Marathon to Athens (Souza, 31). Here they could tell if the Persians try to attack and take over Athens. It was a very strategic move and kept the Persians from moving right in. In the meantime, Athens sent out a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Twenty minutes were spent attempting to grasp where we concluded our travel in addition to settling our anxiety. The equanimity of the breeze from the Caribbean sea granted us the opportunity to recollect the memory of the detours we had chosen. In fact, in this historical period, the exhibition of the tecnique takes, in the designing process, different appearences, assuming solutions which go from the constructivism to the expressionism, where every technical reference is hidden by a strong formalism. Another analogy present in the Modern Movement is the function, that is the interaction between a specific purpose and the natural purposes, existing priori. All the modern architecture is based on this analogy interaction which defines its built forms and compositive processes on the relation between a purpose to achieve and the inevitable of its relation with the man, by finalizing to his life all the expressions of this purpose. All the estetic in the Modern Movement pass through the obsession of the function, it is possible to see the manifestation of the Modernism as a process connecting form, function and final purpose with the fact that we are a human and vital act. The Modernism presents the exaltation of the machine, of the aesathetic of dynamism, of speed and industrialization. The celebration of the irreversible alienation that the machine, as a metaphor of progression, causes on humans, and the breaking of ties between nature and artifact, are two of the main features of the Modern Movement. • 14. Correlation Between The Salaries Of Working Men And Women Wage differentials in the organization Although women have made rapid gains in their level of labor market activity, they have made much less progress in attaining wage parity with men(Smith and Ward 1989). That the career experiences and advancement of women is different from those of men has been documented across many professional areas, with most studies finding that men advance faster, further, and with greater compensation (e.g. Cohen Gutek 1991,Jagacinski et al 1987,Morgan et al 1993, Schneer Reitman 1995). Research has consistently found significant disparities between the salaries of working men and women (e.g. Corzine et al 1994, Stroh et al 1992).Often these differences are found even when controlling for education, age, experience, and performance (e.g. Cox Harquail 1991). To explain these salary differences, researchers have considered the influence of multiple roles.Apparently the number of roles may interact with sex, so that marriage and parenthood is associated with higher salaries for men but lower salaries for women (e.g. Cooney Uhlenberg 1991). Another hypothesis is that the gender wage gap is due to women s disinclination to negotiate over salary; however, empirical evidence fails to support this notion (Gerhart Rynes 1991). Finally,a number of researchers have studied the relationship between job evaluations and gender type of jobs, arguing that bias in job evaluations explains the lower salaries associated with female typed jobs (e.g. Mount ... Since the classification at issue involves gender of the users of the public restrooms, it falls within the quasi suspect categories. As their power progresses, it is incredibly important that both Democrats and Moderate Republicans devise a strategy to hinder the spread of these ideas and limit their power. The most important ways in which these individuals should resist the growing influence of these rightwing groups include: focusing less on social issues and more on economic policy, calling out rightwing anti race rhetoric and dog whistle politics, and by staying away from becoming an extremist group themselves. Not only will this process take legitimacy away from the Democrats in the long run, but it will also only cause the rightwing to go further to the right. The only way to successfully oppose the rightwing movement is to remain as logical and level headed as is possible. This is demonstrated in Claire Conner s experiences with the John Birch Society. While the society was incredibly powerful at one time, they eventually began to collapse once they went after prominent leaders. Many soon saw them as radical and un logical. As we let the rightwing movements spiral more and more out of control, anyone who is even close to moderate will leave them, thus weakening their power. Providing those whose opinions begin to dissent from this group an alternative is vital to opposing them. Another reason why it is so important to shy away from radical behavior and ideas is that it will make other liberal arguments weaker. It will be near impossible to convince rightwing supporters that their leaders are using coded racial appeals when they have already written us off. One argument that has pushed liberals further away from logically discussion and further toward extremist emotional appeals is the, Trump is just like Hitler saying. Shakespeare portrays love as a violent yet ecstatic, overpowering force. The force of love persuades the thoughts and actions of the characters leading them to drastic measures. Romeo and Juliet show great devotion to one another despite the trouble it causes. Deny thy father and refuse thy name! Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, and I ll no longer be a Capulet (II.ii.33 36). • 21. The Issue Of Bargaining Over Position Negotiation is part of everyday life, and we use it to get something that we want from other people. The problem that Roger Fisher and William Ury refer to is the issue of bargaining over position. When we argue over positions, it produces undesirable outcomes. In negotiations, people tend to pay attention to the position, and not the underlying concerns of both parties. This is not only inefficient, but it can also lead to strained relationships between two parties. Getting to Yes: Negotiating Agreement Without Giving In by Fisher and Ury is a step by step guide to negotiating using a method known as principled negotiations. In principled negotiation, you and the other party are seen as the problem solvers rather than adversaries. The goal of principled negotiation is always to reach an outcome efficiently and amicably. The Method Every negotiation will involve people, and Fisher and Ury make it very clear that people are not perfect. While some may be good communicators, others may not be good listeners on the receiving end. We have our own interests and goals, in which we tend to see from our point of view. According to Fisher and Ury, the first step to a successful negotiation is to separate the people from the problem. The most common human problem that we face tends to be perception, emotion and communication. Literary Analysis Of Plato s The Myth Of The Cave The writing is, overall, a dialogue which is dominated in arguments by one of those who dialogues: Plato, who is not mentioned explicitly in the conversation taking place, however, he is the writer of the piece, and historically known as the character that is steering the message on it. Plato develops during the progress of the story an analogy, where he pictures slaves being only exposed to a limited reality of shadows inside a cave, when one of them is liberated to the outside of the cavern, facing realism and opening his comprehension, his former partners question his mental stability thinking he was affected by what he saw after his freedom. The essay The Myth of the Cave by Plato is well written because of his utterly original structure which does not follow a classic flow, because the piece flows smoothly between the conversation of Plato and his interlocutor and the myth being narrated on Plato s parts, one does not realize this unusual structure is implemented to deliver the message exquisitely. • 30. Taking a Look at Social Loafing George (1996) stated that individuals who reduce effort when performing collectively than when performing independently and where the individuals performance cannot be acknowledged as excellent and important are called as social loafing (Joseph Timothy 2012). Social loafing is the characteristic of individuals in a part of their academic life. It may be seen as a failure to willingly satisfy the duties and commitments to others because of the perception of reduced social pressure. Yet, social loafer or free rider without exerting effort in a team will gain benefits from the work of others as the outcome of the team performance is shared by the team members (Weldon Mustari 1988, p. 33). Many researchers study about how social loafing is affected by the duty and self discipline problems. Robbins (1995, p.337) found out some explanations which are linked to Expectancy Values Theory to interpret why social loafing happens in the workplace. This theory mentioned that the behaviour human perform is guided by their values, beliefs and social circumstances (Shepperd Taylor 1999, p.1148). It assumes that employees make choice according to their perception of their given behaviour will come out with desired outcome that is value. Two armies that fight each other is like one large army that commits suicide Patriotism towards one s home is the lie that resulted in the murder of over 17 million soldiers during World War one. The Great War was said to be the the war to end all wars but instead lead to mass slaughter. Many of us still dignify the war in glory and honour, however, in the eyes of the soldiers, war was never about glorifying, but to its absurdity, it was about promising death to those who took the chance. Not long after World War One started, the dark reality of war was exposed through the veracious poets who shared their experiences and revealed the insanity and futility of war. Isaac Rosenberg was a recognised poet who revealed the hidden truth; he was a soldier who joined war in 1960, however, unlike others, he came from a Jewish, working class background which differed him from other well known First World War poets. The perception of life and death, in which time is juxtaposed with setting, is reflected in Isaac Rosenberg s unrhymed free verse poem, Break of Day in the Trenches . Through this anti war poem, his inhuman experiences in the battlefields are brought to the present. Mesopotamia had eight civilizations: Sumer, Akkad, Babylon, Hittites, Assyria, New Babylon, Phoenicians, and Israel. Sumer lasted from 3200 b.c. until 1900 b.c. Sumer was ruled by a king who had the responsibility of maintaining the city walls and the irrigation systems. The strategy taken by Daft was not really successful because even though he managed to meet the customers requirement by customizing the product but actually in total the company gained lesser profitability and profit growth due to higher cost per unit of products produced. Question 3 How would you characterize the strategy Coke is now pursuing? What is the enterprise trying to do? How is this different from the Goizueta and Daft? What are the benefits? What are the potential costs and risk? Answer 3 I believe that Coke is now trying to pursue transnational Strategy as it has been practiced by many multinational companies like Procter and Gamble, Xerox and etc. Goizueta s approach was on Global Strategy and Daft s approach was more on localization strategy. The transnational Strategy actually is a combination of both Global and Localization Strategy. The firm seeks to combine the benefits of global scale efficiencies with the benefits of local responsiveness. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Probation Parole And Parole Case Approximately 1 in 51 adults in the United States was under community supervision at yearend 2013, the lowest rate observed since 1996 (Herberman Bonczar, 2014, p.1). Probation/parole supervision also known as community supervision, helps individuals (ex criminals) acclimate back in their community. Probation is used when a judge chooses to let the offender serve his sentence under officer supervision in the community, rather than in prison. It is usually given to individuals that have committed a non violent/ minor infraction or that have a really good defense attorney. However, when someone has been sent to prison for an extended period of time but have served a certain amount of their time or has proven to the Parole Board that they have improved their behavior, will be released to a Parole officer. The probation and parole program is comprised of two approaches casework and brokerage. Casework approach deals with the offender as a flawed person that needs help; brokerage approach is when the probation/parole officer uses his influence in the community to assist the criminal in finding employment or programs. Knowing how to use these approaches along with monitoring techniques will assist in the officer and offender being successful. This paper will examine the approaches to PO work along with the types of monitoring used to keep track of offenders. The purpose of this paper is to examine the elements of community supervision (probation/parole) that will make the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When you hear the word mad scientist you perceive an aggressive, eccentric, awkward and intellectual individual that works with fictional equipment in order to initiate their intelligible schemes. On the other hand, they fail to recognize the evil that will stream from the hubris of playing god . A majority of the time these mad scientists are individuals who value their experiments and scientific curiosity over themselves, others and the world. Thus, Dr. Rappaccini is symbolic of an early gardener who uses genetics to alter the appearance and fragrance of plants and flowers. It should be noted that Beatrice, much like Georgiana sans the birthmark, is an extraordinarily beautiful young woman, for she is endowed with all gentle and feminine qualities (Hawthorne, 1057) and is worthy to be worshipped. Without a doubt, this little tale related by Professor Baglioni serves as a foreshadowing device related to Beatrice herself, meaning that Dr. Rappaccini has experimented on Beatrice since birth with poisons which have mysteriously endowed her with Nordic beauty. In fact, Professor Baglioni points out that Beatrice is certainly the offspring of her father s experiments That old fable of the Indian woman, he exclaims, has become a truth by the deep and deadly science of Rappaccini and in the person of the lovely Beatrice (Hawthorne, 1059). Essay on Halfway Houses If I were to tell you that a group of federal inmates guilty of a variety of crimes that included, embezzlement, drug manufacturing, child pornography, and murder were in your community, the average person would want to know where those criminals were located and shut that location down. In many cities across the United States, there are facilities that house these convicted inmates. The facilities are called halfway houses, and they were created to help an inmate that is released from prison transition into a community under supervision. The halfway house program can be a beneficial step in the process of an inmate s release, and can reap lasting rewards for the inmates, the correctional system, and the communities they reside in. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another problem that the prison system face is that after an inmate is released from prison, they have a very high probability to repeat the offenses that they went to prison for originally. Halfway houses have been a proven way to increase the chance of success for inmates once they have finished their sentence, and this keeps them from further burdening an already straining system. The Bureau of Prisons spends a large amount of money housing, feeding, and attempting to rehabilitate convicts. Given the current laws in place, it is hard to offset the costs required to run those prisons. Residents participating in halfway house programs are extremely low cost when compared to those inmates residing in the prison system. The differences in costs can be associated the lower amount of compensation for staff, smaller facilities, and cheaper utilities. The residents of halfway houses are required to give 25 percent of the gross income they earn to the Bureau of Prisons. Given the large difference in cost factors, halfway houses are a very economical way for the Bureau of Prisons to save money on the last six months of an inmate s sentence. The probation office has also reaped the rewards of halfway houses. Inmates that are released from prison, they will usually be required to have supervision by a probation officer. In the past when a felon violated a condition of their probation, there were very few ways to punish that person, and those punishments usually ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. How Does Mary Oliver Use Imagery In Crossing The Swamp In Crossing the Swamp , Mary Oliver uses the Swamp as a metaphor for life s struggles when she states Here is swamp, here is struggle and continues to expound on this metaphor throughout the poem. She relates the physical characteristics of the swamp to going through a struggle and her use of literary devices helps to drive this metaphor. Through her use of tone and imagery, Oliver is able to show the transition of the relationship between the speaker and the swamp(struggles) from one of hopelessness to one of hopefulness. At the beginning of the poem, the tone is very hopeless. The swamp seems endless to the speaker, suggesting that they think the struggles they are facing will never be overcome. There is also a mobile app called Ask Rail, which is developed for the emergence of responders providing access to data relating to the train with the incidents (Molinski, 2015). This gives the responders a chance to know about the train which has had an incident and rush to rescue any victim of the incident. This increases the safety of the railroad. Since there are no such measures that have been put across in the tanker truck, the railroad is a better method of oil transportation. New rules should be introduced for the use of trains in oil transportation. There has been debate over new rules of transporting oil via the railroad. These rules require that trains be installed with new brakes that will stop hazardous materials that are flammable (Stevens, 2015). There have been appeals to challenge the new rules. However, the safety administration denies these calls since their aim is to reduce incidents in the railroad during transportation of oil. This has increased concern about the transportation of oil over the railroad (Stevens, 2015). Archetypes In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men And La Strada Rios 1 Natalie Rios Mr. Tlumack Honors English 10 3 December 2017 Archetypal Comparison Of Mice and Men and La Strada Archetypes can vary dramatically through out books, movies and similar works of entertainment. However some writers or directors may have the same kind of archetypes but present them in different ways. In the book Of Mice and Men and the film La Strada archetypes such as grotesques, the journey, as well as social hierarchy are present through out the entirety of each work to convey a larger more profound meaning. John Steinbeck, author of Of Men and Men, and Federico Fellini, director of La Strada, use similar archetypal to convey their own intention for their works. The use of grotesques in both works takes form in the characters Lennie and Gelsomina. Each of the two characters suffers from their own flaw that separates them from being seen as normal characters. In Of Mice and Men Steinbeck conveys Lennie to be a man caught between civilization and nature. Through out the book he is never mentally stable enough to be apart of civilization. As seen in chapter one he ...flung himself down and drank from the surface of the green pool; with long gulps, snorting into the water like a horse. Now comes what their synthesis looks like in practice. In this light the readings forced me to re examine positionality, especially in the framework of auto ethnography. At first I thought this was too obvious but in light of the titular question Stacey asks Can There Be a Feminist Ethnography? the feminist researcher s proximity to the data and interpretation positionality becomes the fraught answer to consider, Her awkwardness (if that s the right word) in balancing the tightrope as an ethical researcher between product and personal integrity feels unexpected yet palpable. The dilemma she faces forced my recognition that conflicts of interest and emotion between the ethnographer as authentic, related person (i.e. participant), and as exploiting researcher (i.e. observer) (23). I feel as if she as a feminist researcher was startled by the dilemma she faced and wonder if her surprise was compounded by not anticipating it . Therefore participants come with their own inherent powers which threaten to usurp the researcher and her own objectives.
