Kodalt Hawkin Character Traits
Kolt Hawkin may be the ideal example of his personality and wisdom. Gifted with such intelligence,
the ability to do so many things, and such daring spirit.
As a young child, Kolt Hawkin was unique to many of his other peers. Not by his family, but just the
way he acted whether at school or a home he was just that one boy who did most things differently
than everybody else. There are four people in his family, and to him his family has been a big part of
his life and has helped him, to become who he is today. He has his mom and dad, Mackenzie and
Dylynn, who support him, and his little brother, Kaden who thinks he is the coolest and most
supportive brother he could ask for. His family has always been proud of what Kolt has achieved in

time came where Kolt had a passion for sports, which was when he was in sixth grade. And that was
when the hardships and obstacle courses Kolt had to sacrifice his life for. It wasn t fair for Kolt to have
that super speedy power and his peers not to, so he was not allowed to do the sports he always has
wanted to do. His only passion was sports and science, but he wanted to be active than he already
possible is. So Kolt just had to live with this for possibly the rest of his

The History of the Terrorist Group Hamas Essay
Terrorism in the Middle East has brought the Israeli Palestinian conflict to the attention of the world.
These terrorist groups use murder, bombs, threats, and other violent acts to get their way politically.
Hamas, the organization that has replaced Fatah as the representative of the Palestinians, is a leading
sponsor of terrorism. The Hamas are the leading reason there is not peace in the middle east as they
strongly embrace terrorism. This group was created in 1978 and continues to expand its power today.
It began as a branch of Egypt s Muslim Brotherhood. This terrorist group has several goals ranging
from creating a Islamic state to continuing the armed struggle against Israeli occupation of Palestine
territories. Their acts of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Israel. They are willing to get this by any means. However they also focus on short goals which
include replacing Islamic and palestine territories with states. They want to be recognized on a world
wide scale. They slowly work towards their goal of getting rid of the palestine and islamic territories
and replacing them with a islamic state in palestine. They try to achieve this goal by any means. They
take drastic measures to put fear in their enemies. Since their creation in 1987 they have been
responsible for at least 557 deaths1 with a strong chance of more that were not confirmed. They are
best known for their car bombings on civilians but also they have committed suicide bombings, plane

eight, and three suicide bombings killing a total 72 innocent civilians.2 Even as recent as 2000 they
have killed 114 civilians in bombings. They are completely ruthless there is video evidence of them

Neo-Marxist Contribution to Theories O Social Class...
How far would you say that Neo Marxist have contributed to the continuing relevance of theories of
social class inequality today?
Social class inequality can be defined as the existence of socially created inequalities among and
within classes. They can be attributed to various factors such as race, colour, ethnicity, gender, income,
etc. It is arguable that inequalities that exist in post independence societies as well as the inequalities
which exist between nations can be directly traced back to the exploitative capitalism which
accompanied European colonialism. Neo Marxism has indeed contributed to the continuing relevance
of theories of social class inequality in contemporary times. Therefore, the aim of this essay is to

And in addition it should improve on the understanding of our society through integrating the major
social sciences. Neo Marxism therefore held views that were synonymous with Marxism however
they were amended and extended on his principles to keep up with modern times. Neo Marxism,
according to neo marxist Nicos Poulantzas sought to answer three basic questions that traditional
Marxist was unable to deliver a rationale for. These questions were firstly, why did the socialist and
social democratic political parties not band together against WWI? (Instead of support for their own
countries). Secondly, why although the timing seemed right for a workers revolution in the west it did
not take place? And lastly how did fascism take place in Europe at this time?
Neo Marxism is based on the total political economic cultural systems that exist in contemporary
societies. Neo Marxists were concerned with the growth of the middle class, which changed the
traditional Marxist class view of there being only two classes; to the introduction of a new class the
middle class. They studied the composition of the labour force; that is the fragmentation of the
working class and the decomposition of capital; that is the growth in the middle class. They needed to
discover whether or not social mobility was beneficial to the lower class or whether or not it leads to

Three Dimensions Of Intelligence Quotient
Burnout is composed of three dimensions which are: emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and
feelings of reduced personal accomplishment/achievement (Maslach Jackson, 1981). Emotional
exhaustion refers to a feeling of being emotionally debilitated by work so much that one feels
physically collapsed and being unable to recover to work or previous physical health any more (King
DeCicco, 2009). Depersonalization or Cynicism involves pessimism toward one s coworkers and job
which may lead to one s eagerness to quit his/her career (Maslach Leiter, 1997). And finally, lower
personal accomplishment is described as feeling of not being successful and competent enough and
believing that one s efforts are futile (Maslach Leiter, 1997). Burnout ... Show more content on

In this pyramid, the first intelligence is Physical Quotient, essential for babies in controlling their
bodies. The second one is Intelligence Quotient, necessary for developing linguistic and conceptual
skills. The third one is Emotional intelligence, required for handling interpersonal and intrapersonal
relationships, and the last one is Spiritual intelligence, needed for searching meaning in life. The last
two intelligences, emotional and spiritual intelligence, are suggested by Wigglesworth (2002) to be
interconnected and reinforcing each other. Validity of rigorous research in areas such as spirituality is
confirmed by studies in neuroscience in which brain is examined for providing scientific answers to
questions related to constructs such as spirituality (Cacioppo, Hawkley, Rickett, Masi, 2005). The idea
of God spot in the brain is introduced by Persinger (1996) and Ramachandran (1999) as a location in
the brain working as spiritual functioning. Scientific examinations of brain indicated that these neural
areas of the brain are activated whenever subjects are engaged in spiritual discussions, resulting into a
conclusion that human brain is predisposed with locations specifically for cognitive constructs such as
spirituality (Cited in Howard White,

Nicole Oresme Research Paper
Nicole Oresme
Abstract
Nicole Oresme, also known as Nicolas Oresme, was born around 1320 in the 14th century on the
outskirts of the Norman city of Caen. Unfortunately, nothing was known of his family. Oresme was
known as one of the most famous scholastic philosophers of the middle age s. He was known for
many different subjects including; economics, physics, astrology, astronomy, theology, philosophy,
and mathematics. Oresme earned his doctorate of arts from the University of Paris between the years
of 1341 1342. In the same year he became grand master of the College of Navarre. He mainly wrote in
the language of Latin but also wrote in French [1]. Oresme was appointed canon in 1362 and later in
1364 was made dean of the Cathedral of Rouen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He came about the idea to use rectangular coordinates and geometric figures to explain uniform and
non uniform distribution of various quantities. For example, he worked on the change of velocity in
relation to time. More importantly, this helped lay a strong foundation that later led to the discovery of
analytic geometry by René Descartes. Oresme used his geometric figures to give the first proof of the
Merton theorem, shown in figure 1 below. This theorem states, The distance traveled in any given
period by a body moving under uniform acceleration is the same as if the body moved at a uniform
speed equal to its speed at the midpoint of the period [2]. Some believe that this resulted in later
discoveries of kinematics, affecting the later work of Galileo s.
Figure 1 Another mathematical contribution was the development of the first proof of the divergence
of the harmonic series. Oresme s proof had less advanced mathematics then the modern proof today.
His proof on the harmonic series was not touched on until later centuries, and was only replicated by
the Bernoulli brothers [1]. Oresmes proof groups the harmonic terms by taking 2, 4, 8, 16, and so on,
after the first two terms, and noting that each block has a sum larger than a ½ [3]. Resulting

Cosmetic Surgery And Its Effects On People And Their Lives
THE DEVIL IN COSMETIC SURGERY
Nowadays, the physical beauty has been considered like a scale to evaluate and measure people,
especially women. Everyone wants to have a perfect body as well as a beautiful face to attract the
others. Some people try to get their beauty through makeup, exercise or diet, but some try to fix their
appearance by the intervention of cosmetic surgeons. Thus, cosmetic surgery somehow has become
the most popular procedure for people to improve their beauty. There is no doubt that cosmetic
surgery has brought for people the ideal beauty in some cases. However, the risks of cosmetic surgery
still exist. People s desires to improve their physical beauty do not always come true. In the other
words, there are many negative results from cosmetic surgery. Cosmetic surgery has several negative
impacts on people and their lives. It makes people addicted, leads people to risk their lives for the
illegal surgery, and causes some serious health complications.
One important reason why cosmetic surgery has a harmful effect is that it makes people addicted.
There are many cases in which people who have cosmetic surgery do not have just a single operation
to reconstruct their faces or bodies. For those people, they try to find the perfection through many
surgery procedures. It is common for a person who has one surgery, wants another one to improve its
looks. One of the example for this is Justin Jedlica, known as a Human Ken Doll, living in New York,
United States.

Buddhism in Vietnam Essay
Buddhism in Vietnam The Vietnamese people have said to have first appeared in the Christian era,
because the religion that was first adapted was Christianity. This would explain why the Vietnamese
people are such religious people. But it does not really explain there major religion change to
Buddhism, because Buddhism is really not a religion that is native to Vietnam. Buddhism my be one
of the most known religions in the world by name, but not by what is actually involved in it. Christine

anything but what would be classified as a cult to Americans (Eng). Historically, Buddhism played a

Buddhism was at the highest between the eleventh and the fifteenth centuries. Countless times
Buddhism has given many societies the answers that they were looking for in political and social
questions. Buddhism still today offers support form the invasion of western ideas. Even though
Buddhism has always been big in Vietnam you will only now mainly see it when the country is going
through difficult times. According to Buddhist thought, human salvation lies in discovering the four
truths that man is born to suffer in successive lives, that the cause of the suffering is man s craving for
earthly pleasures and possessions, that the suffering ceases upon his deliverance from his craving, and
that he achieves this deliverance by following the noble eightfold path (Buddhism 1987). Buddhism is
something that is known by the Vietnamese as a use of escape from reality, and this mainly because it
is known to relate to all. Buddhism was all about All Men are Equal as opposed to the strict
hierarchical structure of Confucianism (Vietnamese Buddhism). It s distinctive feature is that it rejects
the search for the truth in the scared text: Man immediately recognizes in his own heart the true heart
of Buddha , the absolute substance of all beings. For those who, thus change within themselves,
become conscious of their unity with Buddha, for those who manage to understand that the

The House On Mango Street Chapter 2 Summary
When I returned to the Petit Salon , the atmosphere was more collected. Dame Chaboix had convinced
Henri de Valfort to accept to be the 4th hand , and they were now, playing bridge with Santéglise and
Saturnin Valloix. The Baron was watching them with a detached interest. Holding a glass of cognac in
his hand, he stood in front of the table, on the Dummy s side. When he saw me enter, he put down the
glass on the nearby pedestal table which occupied a corner of the room, then, he looked at his watch
(mine indicated 11:30 PM), and he came over to speak to me. Ah! Morsirisse! So! Did you see
anything? Not a soul. Your father in law can relax. No one s marauding on the premises. Merci,
Morsirisse, he said. What you need now is a good cognac to warm you up. Indeed. Has Étienne finally

laughing. Come on, Morsirisse! Let s rejoin the ladies. They have already complained that I am
monopolizing you. I acquiesced, but as I followed him, I still mulled over this incident which was
adding its mystery to a situation already sufficiently complicated in itself. I could not help feeling
guilty for merely suspecting my best and only friend. However, everything evaporated, when I
realized that the Baronne de Valfort was smiling at me. Where have you been, Monsieur Morsirisse,
she asked, before I even had a chance to come close. I wasn t very far, Madame, I answered. I was

Victors In The Kite Runner
Authors can be very discreet about how the innocent are portrayed and sometimes it could be very
evident for instance, Marji who had a good car and family was still a victim because of the oppressive
nature of the regime on girls they can show the same execution with the victors. Victors are commonly
associated with good, but seen as in the Kite Runner, the character Assef who is the antagonist and has
malevolent tendencies is a victor .A victim can someone who is negatively impacted by the conflict in
the work. In The Kite Runner and Persepolis Khaled Hosseini and Marjane Satrapi present victors and
victims by introducing the foil characters of Mehri, Marji, Hassan, and Assef. By using the theme of

Hosseini uses the technique of foil; for instance, the foil of the victim Hassan is Assef who perpetuates
the misery of Hassan even more. The victor is Assef and his characteristics such as wanting total
control and being highly influenced by infamous people we see that he is not weak but strong. He
represents all the evil unlike Hassan, which symbolizes what is pure, but in a setting where the country
is vulnerable and bound to be in war those like Assef prosper. Too late for Hitler, he said. But not for
us. (Hosseini, 40), It is later mentioned that Assef becomes part of the Taliban so he becomes a victor
in the aspect that he wins what he always wanted control of the land to commit crimes. Satrapi uses
this method but not to such extent as Hosseini since the victors in her story are the entire new regime,
which is full of conformity thus giving the foil character, Marji acts with rebellion, which puts her at
risk and therefore making her a victim of the

Different Types of Ducks
There were many different types of ducks in these locations but there were only a few I was able to
recognize: Ruddy ducks dive for their food Very easy to spot these ducks because the male has a
bright blue bill, the bottom of their head is white and the top is black. The female is not as easy to
recognize but the top of its head is a darker brown whereas the bottom is a lighter brown/ white.
Mallard dabbling These ducks are the most common ducks found around New York state. They have a
yellow bill with a green head and a white band around its neck. Common goldeneye dive for their
food The reason why this duck is called the goldeneye, is because it actually has gold colored eyes.
The male ducks have a shiny green head with a white circle on its cheek. Its body is black and white.
The female, like every there female, does not have as many colors. The head is brown and like the
male, has golden eyes. The body is grey/white. 2. a) Flamingo: Its feet are long, skinny and
webbed. They have 4 toes in total, three toes pointing towards the front and one smaller toe in the
back. This is because these birds are almost always in the water and using their webbed feet for
swimming and stirring up food from the bottom. Their beak is hooked shaped, and their lower bill is
much thicker than the top. This allows for the flamingo to be filter feeders, looking for tiny shrimp.

It all starts at the top. General manager Rick Spielman has used the NFL draft to his advantage,
landing solid foundational pieces across the board. It goes on to say how the pieces and the pick up of
the right head coach had made this team a good team that can have even better things to come in the
future if this keeps up for them. A take away from this article that you can see is how important it is to
find the right coach to get your players to the next level but also a good GM to help draft players you
need to get better and that is something the LIons are shaky at best at if anything which is sad for us
fans. Now Bleacher report did teams that can t rebuild and the Detroit pistons where on that list and it
had this to say about them The Pistons have been up and down over the past 25 years, winning a title
in 2004 before sliding steadily to a point where 2014 15 represented the fifth consecutive season with

be because we don t have the players we need to make a push into the playoffs because we are not so

My meaning of family is a group of people no matter ancestry or marriage who genuinely supports

Mexican Independence During The Mexican Revolution Essay
Mexican Independence After the people of Mexico freed themselves from Spanish control, they faced
difficulties trying to officially establish themselves as a country. Despite their independence, Mexico
had to also live with the aftermath of Spanish colonialism. Part of the aftermath included socio
political issues amongst the Mexican people. In an effort to establish themselves as a nation, they first
had to free themselves from a Spanish ideology, for Mexico truly was not free after their
independence. The socio political predicaments contribute to the evolution of modern day Mexico. To
begin, let s go back the start of Mexico s independence: Mexico was declared in 1821, and the Spanish
crown lost control after the Mexican War for Independence (Menchaca 161). As a result of Mexico s
independence, the ownership of power was given to the Mexican people. This led to immediate socio
political and territorial changes. Mexico s war for independence was inspired by the Catholic priest
known as Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla. After his call for action against the Spanish in the town of
Dolores, Mexico, also known as the Cry of Dolores, the people of Mexico united to rebel against the
Spanish (Acuña 40). This led to an eleven year war to achieve independence. That very first day of the
revolution will always hold symbolic meaning in the eyes of the Mexican people: 16 September 1810.
Alas, Mexico was left with the debris of 300 years of Spanish control following their immediate

The power of imagination works on everyone from a tender age. Young children are thrilled by fairy
tales and mythical stories because the power of imagination is still at play in their lives. Adults on the
other hand hide themselves in a veneer of reality which can however be unmasked by sneaking

How to Use Imagine in Your Online Marketing Strategy
1. Create mental and enticing pictures into the minds of your customers using the words imagine ,
visualize , picture and envision . Suggest to them what how life would be good/easy/enjoyable if they

are using them and how they changed their lives. Use these narratives to create more pictures in your
copy.
2. Use call to action statements that will leverage the imaginative ability of your customers. If for

Ahaziah Research Paper
There are times when a person becomes ill. They tried many different remedies to assist in their
illness. A die hard worshipper of God would petition the help from the Father first then seek medical

powers of God. Sometimes things may come in a sudden manner and shake the core of our being. But
with God as an enter Spirit within us He quickly brings the mine in check with His words and His
miracles.
Therefore, we have here Ahaziah, the wicked king of Israel, under God s rebukes both by his
providence and by his prophet, by his rod and by his word. He is confused by his own doing based on
his ancestors. How can we expect to prosper by doing evil in the sight of the Lord? During this time,
the stories of the past were told continuously about how God protects, heals and provide for His

Florence: Heart of the Renaissance By Yusra Farooq
During the 15th century, Florence was the home of the Renaissance and the birthplace of our modern
western world. You can enjoy much of the greatest art created, during that exciting age, today like
Michelangelo s David or Botticelli s Birth of Venus. There s also Ghiberti s glorious 3D bronze gates,
Fra Angelico s serene beauty of paintings and the Duomo that kicked off the Renaissance. After the
fall of ancient Rome, Europe wallowed in centuries of relative darkness. There was little learning,
commence, or travel. Then, in about 1400, in Florence, there was a Renaissance. This exciting rebirth
of the culture of ancient Greece and Rome swept from Florence to all across Europe. Artists
rediscovered the wonder of nature and the human body. Their art expressed the optimism and
confidence of the new age. The Western civilization made up for lost centuries with huge gains in
science, economics, and art. Florence was the center of it all and for a good reason; it was where
capitalism was replacing feudalism and being the middleman of trade between west and east, the city
had money and it knew what to do with it. Wealthy merchants and banking families, like the Medici
who ruled Florence for generations, commissioned splendid art to show their civic pride. And
Florence unleashed an explosion of innovation by recognizing and paying creative genius like no one
else.
The Renaissance was an age of humanism. A time of confidence,

Similarities Between John Brown And Nat Turner
John Brown was very similar to Nat Turner they both believed that they were chosen by god to lead
slaves into freedom and if that required a fight then that was what they had to do. John Brown had a
goal and that was to abolish slavery throughout the united states. The trouble in Kansas began when
the Nebraska Act was signed by President Pierce, this act engaged that people make a determination
on whether Kansas territory should be free or slave. In hopes that Kansas would become free of
slaves, the opposing side which was named Border Ruffians invaded their territory and forced the pro
slavery election. After John heard about the fear of Kansas becoming a slave state and after also
hearing that the Border Ruffians ransacked the town of Lawrence

2. Danger
Usage of line powered device could be dangerous. As leakage of AC current (i.e. 60 hertz) in the body
if it is of sufficient amplitude and duration it can cause motor nerves depolarization thus induce
involuntary tetanic like muscle contraction. As in most of the humans muscle contraction frequencies
are 40 and 60 hertz.
3. Battery powered devices
Leaking of current from a battery powered device is not dangerous. They are safe because there is
continuous 0 hertz DC current regardless of its amplitude and duration. This low voltage current
cannot be able to cause nerve depolarization and thus couldn t induce titanic muscle contraction.
D. Physiological damage
When a 60 hertz AC current of 5 mA passes through a body it may cause unwanted physiological
changes such as tissue burn and tetanic muscle contraction which may cause severe body injuries
including death.
1. Tetanic muscle contraction
The victom may showed minor to vigrous tetanic muscle contractions which may cause respiratory
arrest or cardiac arrest and it leads to death by electric shock.
2. Tissue burn
When 60 hertz AC current passed through a body it cause burn injuries primarily at skin surface and
secondarily in deeper tissues because skin tissues offer more resistance to current than the deeper
tissues. Deeper tissue burn injuries are stronger if the skin is in

Egyptian Artwork Fragment Of a Wall Relief Essay example
Egyptian Artwork Fragment Of a Wall Relief
As I entered the upper Egyptian gallery at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology
and Anthropology I noticed a women giving a lecture to a small group concerning some of the
monuments in the gallery. Lucky enough, I got a chance to catch the end of her lecture, and
coincidentally it was about this piece entitled Fragment of a Wall Relief. This particular piece is from
the Amarna period or 18th dynasty of ancient Egypt, dating from about 1367 1350 BCE. I picked this
piece specifically because of the period in which it derives. The armana period has boggled me ever
since we learned about it in class. In this paper I hope to uncover the historical significance of this

To either side of Aten are hieroglyphics, most likely stating the scene that s at hand. Atens rays are
shining downwards towards Akenaten and one of his daughters. Akenaten is shown with his hand
raised towards Aten, holding some type of bowl. To the right of these two subjects are piled up
offerings meant as gifts for the sun god. In the lower scene, again is Aten at the top, and according to
the museum, Akenaten is offering a censure of burning incense. This part is unclear to me due to the
state of the monument. In both scenes Aten and the hair and clothing of both subjects are sunken
relief, which at one time would have been inlayed with glass. Also in both scenes Akenaten is
represented with his arms and hands raised towards Atens rays. Akenaten is represented with profile
head, frontal torso, and profile legs. In the top scene he seems to be wearing a kilt type garment and in
the lower scene it s unclear the type of garment he s wearing but it seems to cover most of his body.
Along the right hand side of the monument runs a vertical band containing various hieroglyphics and
three sunken relief figures that end up breaking the band into three sections. At the bottom of this
piece is the base of the monument, which is handled quite simply. The base is plain, there is nothing
written on it, represented on it, it doesn t extend out in any direction. The only point of the base I
believe is to raise the subject matter to eye level. Along the side edges are

The Constraints Of Language Help Define Our Notion Of Romance
The constraints of language help define our notion of romance, writes Mark Steyn, and in English we
re more constrained than most. There are just four and a half rhymes for love, approximately three
quarters of which offer very meagre possibilities. What is remarkable, in a way, is that there should be
any rhymes at all. If language is differential at its base, if differences of sound and sense are the only
markers of meaning (Norris 24 5), then similarity the relative lack of difference should, if anything,
tend toward meaninglessness. In practice this is not so. [T]hese chance resemblances of sound and
spelling are as ingrained in language as the chance dissemblances they interact with, and they are
easily exploited (or easily tempt those who would exploit them) to suggest a natural affinity between
objects or concepts which logically [possess] none (Lanham 179). That s why the rhymes with love
problem is a problem: English has difficulty talking about love, not because love is not adequately
distinguished from other words, but because it is not adequately associated with them. Stanley Styne s
lyric to the song There s No Such Thing illustrates the peculiar situation of Anglophone love. It
contains three of Steyn s four and a half rhymes,1 and the manner in which it uses them in a way, the
fact that it uses them inevitably undercuts the frank meaning of the song.
The song begins with the assertion that There s no such thing as the next best

The Importance Of Inclusion In Special Education
The term inclusion is defined as being included within a group or structure. In education, this refers to
the inclusion of special needs students with non disabled students for the entire, or most of, the school
day. In most schools today, students with special needs are separated from the other students for the
majority of the day. The debate of how special needs students should be incorporated in schools has
been going on for years. There is an argument to both sides of this debate, however, both have to
consider segregation, inclusion, integration and ultimately respect. For many years school systems
have been attempting to perfect special education. They have been developing new techniques and
skills to better suit different disabilities that a student might have. The question at hand now is if the
segregation of students with disabilities from those without disabilities should be the standard for all
schools. Mary and Kenneth Smith, authors of I Believe in Inclusion but..., conducted a study to
describe teacher s perceptions of factors that contributed or hindered success in inclusion based
classrooms. The study suggests that students with special needs need more attention than other
students. Research has indicated that classroom teachers may be very skeptical of inclusion and that
they strongly expect that the practice will present inherent problems. (Smith, Mary K., and Kenneth E.
Smith 80 161). Another reason that Smith and Smith make is that with

Abstract
As the days go by the technology of the world advances too. We sit back as people present to us these
new inventions to improve our environment. Do you ever think back the materials and supplies you
use for your personal needs? Over consumption of natural resources is huge problem in our world.
With the new technological advances there are alternative ways to meet these needs. As I sit in my
environmental science class, we discuss what natural resources are being over consumed not for our
needs anymore, but for our wants. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our consumption patterns can be measured by our social status and acceptance. The bigger the
pressures upon a person to conform to safe and accepted social standards, the more they end up
expressing their aspirations and their individuality in terms of what they wear, drive, eats, what they
call home, their pattern of food serving, their hobbies . My invention is a bracelet that one wears on a
daily basis that keeps tracks of the consumption of natural resources. This monitoring bracelet will
help many become aware of the over use of natural resources that they use in their everyday lives that
they do not need. For example we use a calorimeter, multi meter, gas chromatograph and mass
spectrometer. Each of these measure a different natural resource.
As you look around where you are sitting, think about how many do not recycle at home and how
many leave the water running while they brush their teeth. Over consumption of natural resources do
not come into mind when you are using the significant resources that are slowly being unavailable to
us. In California, the third largest state of the United States of America, we have been in a drought for
four or more years, although government has made announcements, sent out notices, set
laws/restrictions, and made commercials to show on television. The state of California is over
populated and people are not really aware of what is going. Riverbanks that would usually be filled up

Dna Coding For Ampicillin Resistance And Green Fluorescent...
Abstract This experiment was performed to assess the efficacy of genetic transformations on bacteria
via plasmid DNA coding for ampicillin resistance and green fluorescent protein. Genetic
transformation was studied by taking transformed and untransformed Escherichia Coli (E. coli) and
placing them on various media to observe gene expression via growth and color under UV light. The
transformed E. coli were able to grow on ampicillin while the untransformed E. coli, which lacked the
plasmid genes for ampicillin resistance, only grew on nutrient broth. In the presence of arabinose, the
transformed E. coli glowed green. These results support the previous scientific understanding of
bacterial competency, vectors, and gene expression and support gene transformations as an effective
method to transfer the desirable DNA of one organism into another organism s DNA. These results
can be applied to real world issues such as medical treatments, food production, and environmental
conservation.
Introduction
Genetic engineering is used in health treatments, agricultural applications, and environmental
solutions. Genetic transformations incorporate foreign genetic material into the DNA of a different
organism via a vector, which carries the genetic material. Plasmid DNA is small, round, and
autonomous, due to its origin of replication. In biotechnology, plasmids carry beneficial genes, such as
antibiotic resistance, and also a reporter protein, in this case, Green Fluorescent Protein

The Backlash Against Serial And Why It s Wrong
In his passionately written article The Backlash Against Serial and Why It s Wrong, author Conor
Friedersdorf comes to the podcast s defense following the harsh criticisms that have been thrown at
Serial since its debut. Serial is a spinoff series from parent podcast This American Life, which details
the investigation of a brutal 1999 murder involving high school seniors of the Baltimore area.
Friedersdorf s piece not only comes to defend Serial s honor, but it also fights back and grapples with
the disparaging comments thrown at the podcast. In particular, the accused transgressions from fellow
writers Jay Caspian Kang in his own work Serial and White Reporter Privilege and Jeff Yang s post
from online news outlet Quartz. In my judgement, Friedersdorf does an excellent job refuting Kang s
and Yang s opposing views and persuading his audience that Serial is innocent of the accused
wrongdoings because of his straightforward approach, his many examples to support his claims, and
his thorough knowledge of the material. What are these wrongdoings you ask? Kang claims that Serial
is not so much about the cold case it is investigating, but more so the producer and narrator, Sarah
Koenig s, fixation on the case. He also believes that while Koenig may be well intentioned, she is
interpreting and making assumptions on facts of the lives of people within minority communities
involved with the case. Another writer, Yang asserts that This American Life s method of narrative

New York City Description
We stood hunched over and shivering in a small lobby, our clothes dripping on the tiled floor. The tiny
room could barely fit the both of us. It led into a restaurant, which promised shelter and hot food; it
beckoned us. I wrung out my sleeves and shook my hands to dry them. My mom offered her phone to
me, and I fervently started typing. We were huddled together in a tiny vestibule, completely soaked,
and helplessly lost in New York City. The day had started off marvelously an early start and meet up
with the bus that would be taking us. The ride up was peaceful, ironically contrasting the day ahead.
We barreled down the highway until the traffic slowed to a halt. Car horns blared as they fought for
entry to the city. I gazed out the window ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After hours of shopping, eating, and sightseeing we started searching for our final destination the
Rockefeller Tree. I d never seen it, and didn t plan on missing one of the great staples of the New York
holiday tradition. We had not a single inkling of where it was, or how to get there. We found ourselves
at a crosswalk surrounded by congregations of other people. The light suddenly turned white, and
people flooded the street jostling us every which way. Out of sheer desperation, we turned left hoping
to find some help or indicators of where the tree was. We were met with the same row of shops we d
just left we d gone in a circle. The rain had pummeled us all day, and we were chilled to the bone. The
rain kicked up again the torrential downpours discombobulated us even more. I looked to my mom,
and she returned my glance with a fleeting look of panic. We looked for the street we came from and
doubled back to where we started. My mom pulled out her phone in hopes of searching for directions,
but couldn t unlock it due to the untimely rain. Mother Nature kept berating us as we searched for
shelter. And now we re caught up huddling together in a tiny room, our clothes sopping wet, our spirits
disheartened, and our bodies aching. Eventually, we constructed a route to the Rockefeller Tree that
consisted of three miles of complex intersections and meandering roads. In desperation, I looked to
my mom for guidance.

Collectivism Is More Rational Than Belief
I will be using rationality as the main criterion for evaluating which philosophy is preferable, so the
resolution can basically be re stated as belief in collectivism is more rational than belief in
individualism . My case revolves around 3 independently functioning reasons for why an affirmation
of the resolution is more plausible than a negation of it. I. Collectivism increases the chances of
individual success The logic underlying this is simple. A society, by definition, is a group of
individuals. So when we value the interests of society , we are really just valuing the interests of the
largest possible number of individuals within that society we are valuing the interests of the majority.
And since an individual is statistically more likely to part of the majority than the minority (duh),
collectivism ensures that any given individual is more likely to have their interests protected than not.
Thus, theoretically, collectivism increases the probability of individual prosperity. However, this is not
only demonstrable in theory; we can see empirical examples of this holding true in practice as well.
Just take a look at nature we can easily observe a large variety of species that instinctively live in
large, interactive groups in which collective welfare is valued over individual welfare wolves,
elephants, lions, chimpanzees, meerkats, bison, sheep, antelopes, ants, bees, ducks, small fish, and
many more fall into this category. There is a reason why such a

Analysis of the Movie Soundtrack Eternal Sunshine of the...
Sound
Choosing the soundtrack for a movie is another difficult task that a director has to do because they
have to find a perfect song or an instrumental track that will fit or compliment the scene that they are
editing. The soundtrack of a movie is also a guaranteed way of effecting the emotions of the audience
members. As a result, directors spend a great deal of time in choosing the right soundtrack for the
movie. They want to make sure that they target the correct emotions for each scene. The sequence of
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind featured many different sounds; such as, speech, music and
sound effects.
The scene begins with Joel and Clementine laying underneath a blanket. Clementine is telling Joel a
story from her childhood, and as she tells the story, we can hear music in the background, which is
considered non diegetic sound because the audience can hear it but not the characters in the movie.
The music we hear, as audience members, is very calming and smooth and continues to play as
Clementine tells her story. We then see Joel crawling between blankets because he is trying to catch up
with a memory that is currently being erased. As he moves to another memory, we can hear another
type of non diegetic sound; however, this time it is harsh and fast, which indicates that he is moving
fast because he does not want the memory to be erased. We continue hearing this harsh sound as he
remembers the beginning of the memory of him and Clementine

Anselm s Ontological Argument Paper
In this paper, I will deliver a reconstruction of Anselm s Ontological argument for the existence of
God, and its adequacy for the existence of the greatest conceivable being. I will establish this by
proving that Anselm s premises are sound and that the deductive arguments follow through a valid
conclusion.
Prior to reconstructing the argument, I will inspect the a priori ontological argument, an argument that
is solely justified through reasoning alone and based upon concepts and logical relations. To begin
with, Anselm introduces the fool , one that denies the existence of a greater conceivable being. He
argues that this fool understands what is conceived but does not believe it to actually exist. The fool
merely conceives of such a being to exist in his mind, because he has been told of its existence.
Anselm adopts the fool s understanding of God s existence to prove his a priori argument, as if God
exists in the understanding alone, but can be conceived to exist in reality, then God must exist in
reality. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To portray this, he depicts how something can exist in the mind, but also reality. To further explain
this, the analogy of a painter is exemplified. Before a painter illustrates his masterpiece, the painter
has an understanding in his mind, yet knows it not to exist; the painter only understands it as a
concept. However, upon completion of the masterpiece, the painter will come to understand that the
concept exists in his mind, as he had the visual of the painting before he had constructed it, and also in
reality, because the painting can now be seen in reality, and can be understood to

Radon Essay
Radon
Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive element that can be found in soil, underground water, and
outdoor air. Some of the properties of this gas include being odorless, tasteless, and colorless. The
concentrations vary throughout the country depending on the types of rocks that are found in the soil.
Exposure over prolonged periods of time to radon decay products has been associated with an
increased risk of lung cancer.(3) The EPA describes an elevated concentration as being at or above
their suggested guidelines of 4pCi/l
(pico Curies per liter, used as a radiation unit of measure for radon).
Exposures below this level may create a risk of lung cancer, farther reductions to lower levels may be

Uranium and its by products of decay, namely radon are abundant and are constantly being generated.
(13) Radon is capable of easily traveling through rocks and soil.(14) The gas is also found dissolved in
water, due to decay in the soil or rock below.(15)
Radon in Water
The risk from radon in water is much lower than the risk from radon in air. This is because the water
must be heated or agitated to release the gas.
This can happen in a shower, boiling water on a stove, or by using a washing machine. Most public
water supplies don t present a radon risk, this is because the water is aerated at the treatment site and
the gas escapes into the atmosphere. Most water that contains hazardous amounts of radon comes
from wells. Wells should be tested for radon if the building that they are supplying contains hazardous
amounts in the air. The testing procedures for water are different from those used on air.(16)
Water containing radon can usually be treated. The most effective treatment is to remove radon from
the water before it enters the home, this is called point of entry treatment. Water can also be treated at
the tap, this is known as point of use treatment. However this treatment is much less effective at
removing the risk.(17)
Radon Entry
Radon travels through the ground and into the air, allowing the gas to easily enter buildings and
homes.

The Racism Of Young Men Essay
Since junior high, I have always been curious as to why males felt the need to carry a tough façade.
This unauthentic behavior persuaded me to view the documentary, The Mask You Live In. Certainly,
after watching The Mask You Live In, my curiosity in men unnecessary macho persona; was relieved.
For years, I wondered, why are most males so aggressive? Why are some vulgarly forward while
flirting with women? What is wrong with men? Overall, I never could grasp why most had a really
challenging time fully expressing themselves. Whenever I would ask my male friends, their vague
response sounded like That is just how we are , as if there were innately programed for emotional
disconnect. Of course, their response would cease to satisfy my itching ears. However, after watching
this documentary, the internalized oppression of young men was clearified. It noted that they were
generally forced to suppress their feelings as young as the tender age of five, simply to gain approval
from their fathers or peers. It was disheartening to see the great pressure boys experience, simply to
reach the title of being a man . What exactly is meant by the term, be a man ? Does it imply one s

Reducing and Eliminating Industrial Farms Essay
Industrial farm pollution is becoming a large problem, which is why our country should result to
organic farming. Many of today s farms are in an industrial factory rather than a nice green pasture.
These farms are looking to maximize profits and produce high quantities of food, which could
potentially be a good thing, in some certain cases, but not in this one. The industrial farms have no
concern for human health or the environment. They raise many health, environmental, and pesticide
issues, which all can be resolved with the act of organic farming. Many health issues come along with
industrial farming. Many chemicals used in agriculture are highly toxic to humans if precautions are
not taken. The toxicity of a chemical is its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unsanitary conditions in the factory farms are causing high levels of meat contamination (Ziggy). This
is a result of foodborne illnesses such as, Salmonella and Norovirus. The Center for Disease Control
estimates that each year roughly 1 in 6 Americans gets sick, 128,000 are hospitalized, and 3,000 die of
foodborne diseases (Center for Disease Control and Prevention). Industrial agriculture operations are
striving to maximize their production and profit, with putting no importance on the safety and quality
of their food. Factory farming also shows no disregards to human health. Industrial farms also provoke
many environmental issues. The practices of Industrial Agriculture are harmful when it comes to
waste management. Since they have such a large amount of animals in one area is un natural, the
waste becomes uncontrollable. For instance, a swine produces about 17.5 pounds of waste each day
(Loehr 26). Put 1,000 hogs together, and that s six million pounds of waste each year. On a factory
farm containing 35,000 hogs, over four million pounds of waste are produced each week and over 200
million pounds each year. Whereas on a sustainable farm animal waste can be a tool, in factory farm
amounts it becomes a major pollutant (Sustainable Versus Industrial). All the waste that is produced
has an enormous impact on the environment. The air, water, and soil are affected in the area around
the factory farms. The manure can be beneficial in some cases, but not

Assessment Of Perineal Pain On Women Experience During The...
Assessment of Perineal Pain
Adequate and effective management of perineal pain begins with a comprehensive assessment
(Marcus et al, 2009; Breivikl et al, 2008; Dalton et al, 1999). However, Andrews et al, (2008) UK
based study concluded that there is no pain scale to date that has been developed to appropriately and
accurately assess the perineal pain that women experience during the postnatal period. This begins to
offer explanation as why up to 92% of new mothers endure perineal pain in the early postpartum
period (Macarthur and Macarthur, 2004).To further support these findings Way (2012) discovered that
women expect perineal pain following vaginal birth but under estimate the severity of the pain.
Women will experience high levels of pain before requesting analgesia as they attempt to normalise
the pain as a consequence of vaginal delivery (Swain and Dahlen, 2013). Macarthur and Macarthur
(2004) conclude that the current management of perineal pain is inadequate as the use of analgesia is
not standardised.
Both Macarthur and Macarthur (2004) and Andrews et al, (2008) used a prospective cohort research
design to obtain their data. The sample population that was needed to ensure that the results produced
were statistically significant was, therefore, larger (Rees, 2011). Macarthur and Macarthur (2004) used
a sample size of four hundred and forty seven women from Toronto, Canada, and Andrews et al,
(2008) included two hundred and forty one women from London, England. The

Phases Of Interrogation At The Most Comfortable
Phases of interrogation The first phase of the interrogation is to establish the norm. This is done to
determine the general behavior of the subject, as the goal is to establish the characteristics of the
subject at the most comfortable. As a result, the interviewer can then interpret the subject s behavior
and communication as the interrogation goes on. The second phase is to build credibility. The
interviewer describes his or her job and experiences, giving examples of situations that are commonly
encountered, and judges the subject s reactions along the way. The interviewer s goal in building
credibility is to convince the subject that he or she is caught of committing a crime without stating any
accusations or revealing evidence. The third phase is to create an opportunity for the subject to save
face and transfer blame. The interviewer guides the subject into telling the truth. The goal is to make
the subject feel better about admitting the truth by finding a socially acceptable reason for being
honest. The subject will feel better about telling the truth if he or she feels that admitting what
happened is better than being caught lying, and if the reason for the crime was for non malicious
reasons. The fourth phase is to establish a sense of urgency. In this phase, the interviewer explains to
the subject that he or she has a limited amount of time to tell the company his or her side of the story.
The interviewer explains that the company may make a decision

Comparing the Economic Performance of South and North Korea
Introduction An economic system of a county is a system for producing, distributing as well as
consuming goods and services. It includes a combination of various agencies, institutions, entities and
consumers, which constitute the economic structure of a particular community, or society. Both North
and South Korea have different economic systems. Collectivist Economy Collectivist economy is a
type of economy which advocates for collective control over production, as well as distribution. It puts
a lot of emphasis on collective action rather than individual action. Another name for collectivist
economy is communism economy. Apart from North Korea, other collectivist economies include
Japan and Indonesia. Economic System in South Korea The economic system of South Korea is a
capitalist economy. This is where the economy is characterized by free markets, as well as the absence
of government intervention with regard to the country s economy. One of the key characteristic of a
capitalist economic system is the ability of firms and private individuals to accumulate capital and
property in the economy of a country. In reality, capitalist economic system will require some
government intervention, mainly to protect private property. Capitalist economic system in South
Korea is a self supporting and does not need government intervention and implementation. This is
because of the private sector and private ownership running the economy. This system enables the

about the past and learn who you were all related to. I ve done this paper many times and have learned
a lot about my family and everyone apart of it. In this paper, I will explain all that I know and describe
myself to my best ability. Let s start out with my parents; Stephanie Ann Bosley (Maietta) and
Kenneth Bosley. My mom was born in Langhorne, Pennsylvania on Tuesday March 24th, 1981. Her
family is Italian so we know how to make a lot of homemade pastas. She s also a fourth Irish, making

My mom s great aunt Julia Lugini Maietta, was known very well in Pennsylvania back in the early
1900s. She was a member of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America (ACWA) where she
developed into a skilled labor union organizer and political activist, representing a majority of women
toiling in factories producing men s apparel. Later on in her life, she tried out for Congress. Here is the
poster used to support her in the running:
All of my mom s family, on her dad s side, is from Pennsylvania. We even have a family home that
has been in the family since we first came to Pennsylvania from Italy. To this day, it still stands and is
taken care of by my mom s aunts and uncles. It has pictures from years ago and letters to Julia from
congressmen. The house is located in Curwensville, Pennsylvania where a majority of our family
lives.
When I took the personality test, I got the letters ISFP, which stands for Introverted, Sensing, Feeling,
and Perceiving. These were the percentages I was giving and the other options for the test.

The Battle Of Tippecanoe By William Henry Harrison
The Battle of Tippecanoe was one of the major steps towards the War of 1812. It took place on
November 8, 1811, in a clearing near Prophet s Town. It was also perhaps one of the most
controversial battles in the War of 1812. Although a peace treaty had been made one day prior before
the Battle of Tippecanoe, the Native Americans attacked, which caused the American soldiers to fight
back, who were led by General William Henry Harrison. The Native Americans had been led by
Tecumseh, a Shawnee Indian Chief. The Battle of Tippecanoe was a controversial battle which the
Natives Americans started, and ultimately, lost.
Tecumseh was a Shawnee Indian chief who had been born around 1768 near Springfield, Ohio.
During the early 1800s, he started to oppose the United States, and attempted to create a confederation
of Indian Tribes to rebel against the United States. One of the main reasons Tecumseh opposed the
United States was the fact that white people were squatting on Native American land, and was forcing
his people out. Although Tecumseh opposed whites, he knew how to speak their language. Tecumseh
was described as a six foot tall man with fine features. He had been rumored to be fluent in English,
and most surprisingly, also in French. He also managed to turn his brother s religious teachings into
political movements in order to get his fellow Native Americans to support his movement. [Collins, pg

Tecumseh s brother, the Prophet, was not nearly as famous.

Descriptive Essay On Toy Car
As I currently stare into this inanimate object I recognize one single thing. This object this Corvette
has one flaw to me. The hood of the car in the front it does not line up completely straight, it s kind of
curved around. I say that because in over the decade that I have received this personal possession, I
have never noticed that specific physical feature on this vehicle. I always tend to look for flaws when I
see something and then I look for the positives. And that is what people usually look for when they see
a car or a collectable item. The sheer resemblance of the model car to the actual one is uncanny as it
should be, from the smallest of detail. The bumps and texture on the steering wheel, the flags on the
logo in the front of the car, and the placement of the wheels and how they creativity designed and
aligned they are just help me attest to that. Now with that being said this toy Corvette has been in
family for over forty years. So minding the physical features, there is a lot of sentimental value of this
vehicle that outweighs my opinion on the actual price of this toy car, but to a certain extent.
My grandfather in the mid nineteen seventies came in to collection of around sixty toy cars over the
course of a few years. He was an avid collector during his youth and into his middle age. But when he
got older he gave me possession of at least thirty of the toy cars as a sentimental gift. I always valued
when he gave us his personal collectibles because I

A Nationalist Han Chinese Identity
Today, in the oil rich Xinjiang Province of Northwestern China, millions of Turkic speaking Uyghurs
live in constant fear. Beards and headscarves banned. Mosques barred from broadcasting the azan, the
Islamic invocation of prayer. Unjustified rape of Uyghur women. Protesting for basic human rights
gets you written on a list of pan Turkist counter revolutionaries. Receiving phone calls from foreign
relatives gets you a visit from the secret police. And still, to the apparent dismay of the CCP, the ethnic
identity of Uyghurs still exists, after decades of state sponsored repression. Why do the Uyghurs
vehemently oppose Han Chinese integration? Why has the CCP taken unprecedented steps to forcibly
assimilate ethnic Chinese Muslims? The creation of a nationalist Han Chinese identity grounded in an
atheist communist state in 1949 engendered conflicts with Chinese ethnic Muslim minorities, due to
failed coercive integration and assimilation efforts and socioeconomic policy. After the annihilation by
the GMT in 1933, the CCP fled and walked through the unpleasant territory of Southwest China for
two years in what later came to be known as the Long March. Along the way, the CCP expectedly
came into direct contact with different ethnic minorities. These encounters professedly affected the
perspectives of CCP pioneers; the acknowledgment of China s immense diversity and the need to
acquire legitimacy as well as support from these ethnic minorities for the Communist insurgency

Remembering Operation Overlord
The planning of Operation Overlord and the invasion were both effected by the lack of equipment and
landing crafts. Operation Overlord was a very advanced operation involving Americans, Canadians,
British, and other allies. The allied forces were going to attack the beaches of Normandy in France,
which was currently under Nazi Control. They attacked five different Beaches: Juno, Gold, Sword,
Utah, and Omaha beach. This operation could lead to the end of World War 2 and the defeat of the
Nazis. In 1943, a year before the invasion, the allies chose who would be in charge of the invasion.
General Eisenhower was chosen to be in charge of the operation. (Brohier) Allies had tight security in
order to prevent the Germans from learning details about the invasion. He chose Normandy to be the
place of the invasion because it was in reach of Bombers stationed in Britain. However, the planning
did not go as well as expected because of the lack of equipment and landing crafts because they were
in use in other places.
The Allied forces sent out fake troops to Pas de Calais, the tightest place between Britain and France,
to make the Germans think the invasion was there instead of Normandy. They even led Germany to
think the invasion was in other place, for example Norway.
The last couple of Months and weeks before the invasion, British bombers began to soften up the
German defenses by wrecking railways and bridges (Brohier 1) so that the German troops could not
make their way to

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Gps
INTRODUCTION
The Global Positioning System, commonly referred to as the GPS, is one of the greatest innovations
that truly revolutionized the way we function in the 21st century. It s a space based satellite navigation
system that uses 27 satellites and a wide range of networks of powerful computers used to send signals
down to earth. These signals carry a time code and geographical data point that allows the user to
pinpoint their exact position, speed and time anywhere on the planet. Centuries ago, explorers used
clues such as the position of the sun during the day as a means of navigating but these left explorers
helplessly lost.
2. THE ORIGIN OF THE GPS
The GPS is a very powerful tool that was originally invented by the United States Military as a means
of obtaining intelligence during the cold war in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The GPS technology is used widely in climate studies such as earthquake research and accurate daily
weather forecasts.
Corporate companies are using the GPS technology as a useful tool to monitor employee productivity
by keeping record of their clocking times , frequency and duration of lunch breaks.
Commercial airplanes and cargo ships have more accurate readings that help them avoid disasters and
ensures that they can be traced should they get lost at sea.
The commercialisation of the GPS technology has led to the development of hand held GPS
navigation devices that are used for recreational activities such as hiking and outdoor treasure hunting.
4.2 Disadvantages
One of the greatest disadvantage of the GPS technology is that it relies completely on receiving
satellite signals, so it s prone to radio interference and nuclear weapons.
Another issue is accuracy in terms of updating the navigation system, for example, drivers using the
GPS navigation technology can find themselves stuck in traffic due to blocked

Social class inequality can be defined as the existence of socially created inequalities among and within classes. They can be attributed to various factors such as race, colour, ethnicity, gender, income, etc. It is arguable that inequalities that exist in post independence societies as well as the inequalities which exist between nations can be directly traced back to the exploitative capitalism which accompanied European colonialism. Neo Marxism has indeed contributed to the continuing relevance of theories of social class inequality in contemporary times. Therefore, the aim of this essay is to identify ... Neo Marxism therefore held views that were synonymous with Marxism however they were amended and extended on his principles to keep up with modern times. Neo Marxism, according to neo marxist Nicos Poulantzas sought to answer three basic questions that traditional Marxist was unable to deliver a rationale for. These questions were firstly, why did the socialist and social democratic political parties not band together against WWI? (Instead of support for their own countries). Secondly, why although the timing seemed right for a workers revolution in the west it did not take place? And lastly how did fascism take place in Europe at this time? Neo Marxism is based on the total political economic cultural systems that exist in contemporary societies. Neo Marxists were concerned with the growth of the middle class, which changed the traditional Marxist class view of there being only two classes; to the introduction of a new class the middle class. They studied the composition of the labour force; that is the fragmentation of the working class and the decomposition of capital; that is the growth in the middle class. • 6. Three Dimensions Of Intelligence Quotient Burnout is composed of three dimensions which are: emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and feelings of reduced personal accomplishment/achievement (Maslach Jackson, 1981). Emotional exhaustion refers to a feeling of being emotionally debilitated by work so much that one feels physically collapsed and being unable to recover to work or previous physical health any more (King DeCicco, 2009). Depersonalization or Cynicism involves pessimism toward one s coworkers and job which may lead to one s eagerness to quit his/her career (Maslach Leiter, 1997). And finally, lower personal accomplishment is described as feeling of not being successful and competent enough and believing that one s efforts are futile (Maslach Leiter, 1997). Burnout ... The second one is Intelligence Quotient, necessary for developing linguistic and conceptual skills. The last two intelligences, emotional and spiritual intelligence, are suggested by Wigglesworth (2002) to be interconnected and reinforcing each other. Validity of rigorous research in areas such as spirituality is confirmed by studies in neuroscience in which brain is examined for providing scientific answers to questions related to constructs such as spirituality (Cacioppo, Hawkley, Rickett, Masi, 2005). The idea of God spot in the brain is introduced by Persinger (1996) and Ramachandran (1999) as a location in the brain working as spiritual functioning. Scientific examinations of brain indicated that these neural areas of the brain are activated whenever subjects are engaged in spiritual discussions, resulting into a conclusion that human brain is predisposed with locations specifically for cognitive constructs such as spirituality (Cited in Howard White, ... He was known for many different subjects including; economics, physics, astrology, astronomy, theology, philosophy, and mathematics. Oresme earned his doctorate of arts from the University of Paris between the years of 1341 1342. In the same year he became grand master of the College of Navarre. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He came about the idea to use rectangular coordinates and geometric figures to explain uniform and non uniform distribution of various quantities. For example, he worked on the change of velocity in relation to time. More importantly, this helped lay a strong foundation that later led to the discovery of analytic geometry by René Descartes. Oresme used his geometric figures to give the first proof of the Merton theorem, shown in figure 1 below. This theorem states, The distance traveled in any given period by a body moving under uniform acceleration is the same as if the body moved at a uniform speed equal to its speed at the midpoint of the period [2]. Some believe that this resulted in later discoveries of kinematics, affecting the later work of Galileo s. Figure 1 Another mathematical contribution was the development of the first proof of the divergence of the harmonic series. Oresme s proof had less advanced mathematics then the modern proof today. His proof on the harmonic series was not touched on until later centuries, and was only replicated by the Bernoulli brothers [1]. Oresmes proof groups the harmonic terms by taking 2, 4, 8, 16, and so on, after the first two terms, and noting that each block has a sum larger than a ½ [3]. Resulting ... • 17. Mexican Independence During The Mexican Revolution Essay Mexican Independence After the people of Mexico freed themselves from Spanish control, they faced difficulties trying to officially establish themselves as a country. Despite their independence, Mexico had to also live with the aftermath of Spanish colonialism. Part of the aftermath included socio political issues amongst the Mexican people. In an effort to establish themselves as a nation, they first had to free themselves from a Spanish ideology, for Mexico truly was not free after their independence. The socio political predicaments contribute to the evolution of modern day Mexico. To begin, let s go back the start of Mexico s independence: Mexico was declared in 1821, and the Spanish crown lost control after the Mexican War for Independence (Menchaca 161). As a result of Mexico s independence, the ownership of power was given to the Mexican people. This led to immediate socio political and territorial changes. Mexico s war for independence was inspired by the Catholic priest known as Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla. After his call for action against the Spanish in the town of Dolores, Mexico, also known as the Cry of Dolores, the people of Mexico united to rebel against the Spanish (Acuña 40). This led to an eleven year war to achieve independence. That very first day of the revolution will always hold symbolic meaning in the eyes of the Mexican people: 16 September 1810. A die hard worshipper of God would petition the help from the Father first then seek medical assistance. If the Bible speaks of the many healings that God did before. I would assume that He is capable of doing it again and again. Every situation that we encounter is a test of our faith in the powers of God. Sometimes things may come in a sudden manner and shake the core of our being. But with God as an enter Spirit within us He quickly brings the mine in check with His words and His miracles. Therefore, we have here Ahaziah, the wicked king of Israel, under God s rebukes both by his providence and by his prophet, by his rod and by his word. He is confused by his own doing based on his ancestors. How can we expect to prosper by doing evil in the sight of the Lord? During this time, the stories of the past were told continuously about how God protects, heals and provide for His chosen one. When Ahaziah rebelled against God, and revolted from his allegiance to God. Ahaziah was punishment severe. • 21. Research Paper On Florence In The Renaissance Florence: Heart of the Renaissance By Yusra Farooq During the 15th century, Florence was the home of the Renaissance and the birthplace of our modern western world. You can enjoy much of the greatest art created, during that exciting age, today like Michelangelo s David or Botticelli s Birth of Venus. There s also Ghiberti s glorious 3D bronze gates, Fra Angelico s serene beauty of paintings and the Duomo that kicked off the Renaissance. After the fall of ancient Rome, Europe wallowed in centuries of relative darkness. There was little learning, commence, or travel. Then, in about 1400, in Florence, there was a Renaissance. This exciting rebirth of the culture of ancient Greece and Rome swept from Florence to all across Europe. Artists rediscovered the wonder of nature and the human body. Their art expressed the optimism and confidence of the new age. The Western civilization made up for lost centuries with huge gains in science, economics, and art. Florence was the center of it all and for a good reason; it was where capitalism was replacing feudalism and being the middleman of trade between west and east, the city had money and it knew what to do with it. Wealthy merchants and banking families, like the Medici who ruled Florence for generations, commissioned splendid art to show their civic pride. And Florence unleashed an explosion of innovation by recognizing and paying creative genius like no one else. The Renaissance was an age of humanism. A time of confidence, ... In the lower scene, again is Aten at the top, and according to the museum, Akenaten is offering a censure of burning incense. This part is unclear to me due to the state of the monument. In both scenes Aten and the hair and clothing of both subjects are sunken relief, which at one time would have been inlayed with glass. • 26. The Constraints Of Language Help Define Our Notion Of Romance The constraints of language help define our notion of romance, writes Mark Steyn, and in English we re more constrained than most. There are just four and a half rhymes for love, approximately three quarters of which offer very meagre possibilities. What is remarkable, in a way, is that there should be any rhymes at all. If language is differential at its base, if differences of sound and sense are the only markers of meaning (Norris 24 5), then similarity the relative lack of difference should, if anything, tend toward meaninglessness. In practice this is not so. [T]hese chance resemblances of sound and spelling are as ingrained in language as the chance dissemblances they interact with, and they are easily exploited (or easily tempt those who would exploit them) to suggest a natural affinity between objects or concepts which logically [possess] none (Lanham 179). That s why the rhymes with love problem is a problem: English has difficulty talking about love, not because love is not adequately distinguished from other words, but because it is not adequately associated with them. Stanley Styne s lyric to the song There s No Such Thing illustrates the peculiar situation of Anglophone love. It contains three of Steyn s four and a half rhymes,1 and the manner in which it uses them in a way, the fact that it uses them inevitably undercuts the frank meaning of the song. • 27. The Importance Of Inclusion In Special Education The term inclusion is defined as being included within a group or structure. In education, this refers to the inclusion of special needs students with non disabled students for the entire, or most of, the school day. In most schools today, students with special needs are separated from the other students for the majority of the day. The debate of how special needs students should be incorporated in schools has been going on for years. There is an argument to both sides of this debate, however, both have to consider segregation, inclusion, integration and ultimately respect. For many years school systems have been attempting to perfect special education. They have been developing new techniques and skills to better suit different disabilities that a student might have. The question at hand now is if the segregation of students with disabilities from those without disabilities should be the standard for all schools. Mary and Kenneth Smith, authors of I Believe in Inclusion but..., conducted a study to describe teacher s perceptions of factors that contributed or hindered success in inclusion based classrooms. The study suggests that students with special needs need more attention than other students. Research has indicated that classroom teachers may be very skeptical of inclusion and that they strongly expect that the practice will present inherent problems. (Smith, Mary K., and Kenneth E. We sit back as people present to us these new inventions to improve our environment. Do you ever think back the materials and supplies you use for your personal needs? Over consumption of natural resources is huge problem in our world. With the new technological advances there are alternative ways to meet these needs. As I sit in my environmental science class, we discuss what natural resources are being over consumed not for our needs anymore, but for our wants. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Our consumption patterns can be measured by our social status and acceptance. The bigger the pressures upon a person to conform to safe and accepted social standards, the more they end up expressing their aspirations and their individuality in terms of what they wear, drive, eats, what they call home, their pattern of food serving, their hobbies . My invention is a bracelet that one wears on a daily basis that keeps tracks of the consumption of natural resources. This monitoring bracelet will help many become aware of the over use of natural resources that they use in their everyday lives that they do not need. For example we use a calorimeter, multi meter, gas chromatograph and mass spectrometer. Each of these measure a different natural resource. Abstract This experiment was performed to assess the efficacy of genetic transformations on bacteria via plasmid DNA coding for ampicillin resistance and green fluorescent protein. Genetic transformation was studied by taking transformed and untransformed Escherichia Coli (E. coli) and placing them on various media to observe gene expression via growth and color under UV light. The transformed E. coli were able to grow on ampicillin while the untransformed E. coli, which lacked the plasmid genes for ampicillin resistance, only grew on nutrient broth. In the presence of arabinose, the transformed E. coli glowed green. These results support the previous scientific understanding of bacterial competency, vectors, and gene expression and support gene transformations as an effective method to transfer the desirable DNA of one organism into another organism s DNA. These results can be applied to real world issues such as medical treatments, food production, and environmental conservation. Introduction Genetic engineering is used in health treatments, agricultural applications, and environmental solutions. Genetic transformations incorporate foreign genetic material into the DNA of a different organism via a vector, which carries the genetic material. The Backlash Against Serial And Why It s Wrong In his passionately written article The Backlash Against Serial and Why It s Wrong, author Conor Friedersdorf comes to the podcast s defense following the harsh criticisms that have been thrown at Serial since its debut. Serial is a spinoff series from parent podcast This American Life, which details the investigation of a brutal 1999 murder involving high school seniors of the Baltimore area. Friedersdorf s piece not only comes to defend Serial s honor, but it also fights back and grapples with the disparaging comments thrown at the podcast. In particular, the accused transgressions from fellow writers Jay Caspian Kang in his own work Serial and White Reporter Privilege and Jeff Yang s post from online news outlet Quartz. In my judgement, Friedersdorf does an excellent job refuting Kang s and Yang s opposing views and persuading his audience that Serial is innocent of the accused wrongdoings because of his straightforward approach, his many examples to support his claims, and his thorough knowledge of the material. What are these wrongdoings you ask? Kang claims that Serial is not so much about the cold case it is investigating, but more so the producer and narrator, Sarah Koenig s, fixation on the case. He also believes that while Koenig may be well intentioned, she is interpreting and making assumptions on facts of the lives of people within minority communities involved with the case. • 33. Collectivism Is More Rational Than Belief I will be using rationality as the main criterion for evaluating which philosophy is preferable, so the resolution can basically be re stated as belief in collectivism is more rational than belief in individualism . My case revolves around 3 independently functioning reasons for why an affirmation of the resolution is more plausible than a negation of it. I. Collectivism increases the chances of individual success The logic underlying this is simple. A society, by definition, is a group of individuals. So when we value the interests of society , we are really just valuing the interests of the largest possible number of individuals within that society we are valuing the interests of the majority. And since an individual is statistically more likely to part of the majority than the minority (duh), collectivism ensures that any given individual is more likely to have their interests protected than not. Thus, theoretically, collectivism increases the probability of individual prosperity. However, this is not only demonstrable in theory; we can see empirical examples of this holding true in practice as well. Just take a look at nature we can easily observe a large variety of species that instinctively live in large, interactive groups in which collective welfare is valued over individual welfare wolves, elephants, lions, chimpanzees, meerkats, bison, sheep, antelopes, ants, bees, ducks, small fish, and many more fall into this category. Sound Choosing the soundtrack for a movie is another difficult task that a director has to do because they have to find a perfect song or an instrumental track that will fit or compliment the scene that they are editing. The soundtrack of a movie is also a guaranteed way of effecting the emotions of the audience members. As a result, directors spend a great deal of time in choosing the right soundtrack for the movie. They want to make sure that they target the correct emotions for each scene. The sequence of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind featured many different sounds; such as, speech, music and sound effects. The scene begins with Joel and Clementine laying underneath a blanket. Clementine is telling Joel a story from her childhood, and as she tells the story, we can hear music in the background, which is considered non diegetic sound because the audience can hear it but not the characters in the movie. The music we hear, as audience members, is very calming and smooth and continues to play as Clementine tells her story. We then see Joel crawling between blankets because he is trying to catch up with a memory that is currently being erased. As he moves to another memory, we can hear another type of non diegetic sound; however, this time it is harsh and fast, which indicates that he is moving fast because he does not want the memory to be erased. • 35. Anselm s Ontological Argument Paper In this paper, I will deliver a reconstruction of Anselm s Ontological argument for the existence of God, and its adequacy for the existence of the greatest conceivable being. I will establish this by proving that Anselm s premises are sound and that the deductive arguments follow through a valid conclusion. Prior to reconstructing the argument, I will inspect the a priori ontological argument, an argument that is solely justified through reasoning alone and based upon concepts and logical relations. To begin with, Anselm introduces the fool , one that denies the existence of a greater conceivable being. He argues that this fool understands what is conceived but does not believe it to actually exist. The fool merely conceives of such a being to exist in his mind, because he has been told of its existence. Anselm adopts the fool s understanding of God s existence to prove his a priori argument, as if God exists in the understanding alone, but can be conceived to exist in reality, then God must exist in reality. ... This is because the water must be heated or agitated to release the gas. This can happen in a shower, boiling water on a stove, or by using a washing machine. Most public water supplies don t present a radon risk, this is because the water is aerated at the treatment site and the gas escapes into the atmosphere. Most water that contains hazardous amounts of radon comes from wells. Wells should be tested for radon if the building that they are supplying contains hazardous amounts in the air. The testing procedures for water are different from those used on air.(16) Water containing radon can usually be treated. The most effective treatment is to remove radon from the water before it enters the home, this is called point of entry treatment. Water can also be treated at the tap, this is known as point of use treatment. However this treatment is much less effective at removing the risk.(17) Radon Entry Radon travels through the ground and into the air, allowing the gas to easily enter buildings and homes. ... • 41. The Racism Of Young Men Essay Since junior high, I have always been curious as to why males felt the need to carry a tough façade. This unauthentic behavior persuaded me to view the documentary, The Mask You Live In. Certainly, after watching The Mask You Live In, my curiosity in men unnecessary macho persona; was relieved. For years, I wondered, why are most males so aggressive? Why are some vulgarly forward while flirting with women? What is wrong with men? Overall, I never could grasp why most had a really challenging time fully expressing themselves. Whenever I would ask my male friends, their vague response sounded like That is just how we are , as if there were innately programed for emotional disconnect. Of course, their response would cease to satisfy my itching ears. However, after watching this documentary, the internalized oppression of young men was clearified. It noted that they were generally forced to suppress their feelings as young as the tender age of five, simply to gain approval from their fathers or peers. It was disheartening to see the great pressure boys experience, simply to reach the title of being a man . What exactly is meant by the term, be a man ? Does it imply one s ability to maintain a numbness to feminine equality or engaging in violent tendencies? The documentary addressed the question and enlightened one on the damages that such a short phrase can cause as a generational curse on manhood. The mask you live in, reflected the social context of masculinity in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Reducing and Eliminating Industrial Farms Essay Industrial farm pollution is becoming a large problem, which is why our country should result to organic farming. Many of today s farms are in an industrial factory rather than a nice green pasture. These farms are looking to maximize profits and produce high quantities of food, which could potentially be a good thing, in some certain cases, but not in this one. The industrial farms have no concern for human health or the environment. They raise many health, environmental, and pesticide issues, which all can be resolved with the act of organic farming. Many health issues come along with industrial farming. Many chemicals used in agriculture are highly toxic to humans if precautions are not taken. The toxicity of a chemical is its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unsanitary conditions in the factory farms are causing high levels of meat contamination (Ziggy). This is a result of foodborne illnesses such as, Salmonella and Norovirus. The Center for Disease Control estimates that each year roughly 1 in 6 Americans gets sick, 128,000 are hospitalized, and 3,000 die of foodborne diseases (Center for Disease Control and Prevention). Industrial agriculture operations are striving to maximize their production and profit, with putting no importance on the safety and quality of their food. Factory farming also shows no disregards to human health. Industrial farms also provoke many environmental issues. The practices of Industrial Agriculture are harmful when it comes to waste management. Since they have such a large amount of animals in one area is un natural, the waste becomes uncontrollable. For instance, a swine produces about 17.5 pounds of waste each day (Loehr 26). Put 1,000 hogs together, and that s six million pounds of waste each year. On a factory farm containing 35,000 hogs, over four million pounds of waste are produced each week and over 200 million pounds each year. Whereas on a sustainable farm animal waste can be a tool, in factory farm amounts it becomes a major pollutant (Sustainable Versus Industrial). All the waste that is produced has an enormous impact on the environment. The air, water, and soil are affected in the area around the factory farms. • 43. Assessment Of Perineal Pain On Women Experience During The... Assessment of Perineal Pain Adequate and effective management of perineal pain begins with a comprehensive assessment (Marcus et al, 2009; Breivikl et al, 2008; Dalton et al, 1999). However, Andrews et al, (2008) UK based study concluded that there is no pain scale to date that has been developed to appropriately and accurately assess the perineal pain that women experience during the postnatal period. This begins to offer explanation as why up to 92% of new mothers endure perineal pain in the early postpartum period (Macarthur and Macarthur, 2004).To further support these findings Way (2012) discovered that women expect perineal pain following vaginal birth but under estimate the severity of the pain. Women will experience high levels of pain before requesting analgesia as they attempt to normalise the pain as a consequence of vaginal delivery (Swain and Dahlen, 2013). Macarthur and Macarthur (2004) conclude that the current management of perineal pain is inadequate as the use of analgesia is not standardised. Both Macarthur and Macarthur (2004) and Andrews et al, (2008) used a prospective cohort research design to obtain their data. The sample population that was needed to ensure that the results produced were statistically significant was, therefore, larger (Rees, 2011). Macarthur and Macarthur (2004) used a sample size of four hundred and forty seven women from Toronto, Canada, and Andrews et al, (2008) included two hundred and forty one women from London, England. • 44. Phases Of Interrogation At The Most Comfortable Phases of interrogation The first phase of the interrogation is to establish the norm. This is done to determine the general behavior of the subject, as the goal is to establish the characteristics of the subject at the most comfortable. As a result, the interviewer can then interpret the subject s behavior and communication as the interrogation goes on. The second phase is to build credibility. The interviewer describes his or her job and experiences, giving examples of situations that are commonly encountered, and judges the subject s reactions along the way. The interviewer s goal in building credibility is to convince the subject that he or she is caught of committing a crime without stating any accusations or revealing evidence. The third phase is to create an opportunity for the subject to save face and transfer blame. The interviewer guides the subject into telling the truth. The goal is to make the subject feel better about admitting the truth by finding a socially acceptable reason for being honest. The subject will feel better about telling the truth if he or she feels that admitting what happened is better than being caught lying, and if the reason for the crime was for non malicious reasons. The fourth phase is to establish a sense of urgency. In this phase, the interviewer explains to the subject that he or she has a limited amount of time to tell the company his or her side of the story. • 47. The Battle Of Tippecanoe By William Henry Harrison The Battle of Tippecanoe was one of the major steps towards the War of 1812. It took place on November 8, 1811, in a clearing near Prophet s Town. It was also perhaps one of the most controversial battles in the War of 1812. Although a peace treaty had been made one day prior before the Battle of Tippecanoe, the Native Americans attacked, which caused the American soldiers to fight back, who were led by General William Henry Harrison. The Native Americans had been led by Tecumseh, a Shawnee Indian Chief. The Battle of Tippecanoe was a controversial battle which the Natives Americans started, and ultimately, lost. Tecumseh was a Shawnee Indian chief who had been born around 1768 near Springfield, Ohio. During the early 1800s, he started to oppose the United States, and attempted to create a confederation of Indian Tribes to rebel against the United States. One of the main reasons Tecumseh opposed the United States was the fact that white people were squatting on Native American land, and was forcing his people out. Although Tecumseh opposed whites, he knew how to speak their language. Tecumseh was described as a six foot tall man with fine features. He had been rumored to be fluent in English, and most surprisingly, also in French. He also managed to turn his brother s religious teachings into political movements in order to get his fellow Native Americans to support his movement. • 48. Descriptive Essay On Toy Car As I currently stare into this inanimate object I recognize one single thing. This object this Corvette has one flaw to me. The hood of the car in the front it does not line up completely straight, it s kind of curved around. I say that because in over the decade that I have received this personal possession, I have never noticed that specific physical feature on this vehicle. I always tend to look for flaws when I see something and then I look for the positives. And that is what people usually look for when they see a car or a collectable item. The sheer resemblance of the model car to the actual one is uncanny as it should be, from the smallest of detail. The bumps and texture on the steering wheel, the flags on the logo in the front of the car, and the placement of the wheels and how they creativity designed and aligned they are just help me attest to that. Now with that being said this toy Corvette has been in family for over forty years. So minding the physical features, there is a lot of sentimental value of this vehicle that outweighs my opinion on the actual price of this toy car, but to a certain extent. My grandfather in the mid nineteen seventies came in to collection of around sixty toy cars over the course of a few years. He was an avid collector during his youth and into his middle age. But when he got older he gave me possession of at least thirty of the toy cars as a sentimental gift. I always valued when he gave us his personal collectibles because I ... • 49. A Nationalist Han Chinese Identity Today, in the oil rich Xinjiang Province of Northwestern China, millions of Turkic speaking Uyghurs live in constant fear. Beards and headscarves banned. Mosques barred from broadcasting the azan, the Islamic invocation of prayer. Unjustified rape of Uyghur women. Protesting for basic human rights gets you written on a list of pan Turkist counter revolutionaries. Receiving phone calls from foreign relatives gets you a visit from the secret police. And still, to the apparent dismay of the CCP, the ethnic identity of Uyghurs still exists, after decades of state sponsored repression. Why do the Uyghurs vehemently oppose Han Chinese integration? Why has the CCP taken unprecedented steps to forcibly assimilate ethnic Chinese Muslims? The creation of a nationalist Han Chinese identity grounded in an atheist communist state in 1949 engendered conflicts with Chinese ethnic Muslim minorities, due to failed coercive integration and assimilation efforts and socioeconomic policy. After the annihilation by the GMT in 1933, the CCP fled and walked through the unpleasant territory of Southwest China for two years in what later came to be known as the Long March. Along the way, the CCP expectedly came into direct contact with different ethnic minorities. These encounters professedly affected the perspectives of CCP pioneers; the acknowledgment of China s immense diversity and the need to acquire legitimacy as well as support from these ethnic minorities for the Communist insurgency ... • 50. Remembering Operation Overlord The planning of Operation Overlord and the invasion were both effected by the lack of equipment and landing crafts. Operation Overlord was a very advanced operation involving Americans, Canadians, British, and other allies. The allied forces were going to attack the beaches of Normandy in France, which was currently under Nazi Control. They attacked five different Beaches: Juno, Gold, Sword, Utah, and Omaha beach. This operation could lead to the end of World War 2 and the defeat of the Nazis. In 1943, a year before the invasion, the allies chose who would be in charge of the invasion. General Eisenhower was chosen to be in charge of the operation. (Brohier) Allies had tight security in order to prevent the Germans from learning details about the invasion. He chose Normandy to be the place of the invasion because it was in reach of Bombers stationed in Britain. However, the planning did not go as well as expected because of the lack of equipment and landing crafts because they were in use in other places. The Allied forces sent out fake troops to Pas de Calais, the tightest place between Britain and France, to make the Germans think the invasion was there instead of Normandy. They even led Germany to think the invasion was in other place, for example Norway. The last couple of Months and weeks before the invasion, British bombers began to soften up the German defenses by wrecking railways and bridges (Brohier 1) so that the German troops could not make their way to ... • 51. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Gps INTRODUCTION The Global Positioning System, commonly referred to as the GPS, is one of the greatest innovations that truly revolutionized the way we function in the 21st century. It s a space based satellite navigation system that uses 27 satellites and a wide range of networks of powerful computers used to send signals down to earth. These signals carry a time code and geographical data point that allows the user to pinpoint their exact position, speed and time anywhere on the planet. Centuries ago, explorers used clues such as the position of the sun during the day as a means of navigating but these left explorers helplessly lost. 2.
