This document describes the design of an RC snubber circuit used to suppress oscillations caused by reverse recovery effects in power semiconductor applications. It explains how to determine the parasitic inductance and capacitance values using measurements of the oscillation frequency with and without an added capacitor. The document then demonstrates how to design the snubber based on achieving critical damping by selecting resistor and capacitor values using the parasitic parameters and oscillation frequency. Measurement results show that the designed snubber nearly eliminates oscillations in the voltage waveform.
