The Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction was held from 14 to 18 March 2015 in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. Several thousand participants attended, including at related events linked to the World Conference under the umbrella of building the resilience of nations and communities to disasters. The United Nations General Assembly Resolution for 2013 on International Strategy for Disaster Reduction states that the World Conference will result in a concise, focused, forward-looking, and action-oriented outcome document and will have the following objectives:
* To complete assessment and review of the implementation of the Hyogo Framework for Action;
* To consider the experience gained through the regional and national strategies/institutions and plans for disaster risk reduction and their recommendations as well as relevant regional agreements within the implementation of the Hyogo Framework of Action;
* To adopt a post-2015 framework for disaster risk reduction;
* To identify modalities of cooperation based on commitments to implement a post-2015 framework for disaster risk reduction;
* To determine modalities to periodically review the implementation of a post-2015 framework for disaster risk reduction.

3. SENDAI FRAMEWORK
The SENDAI FRAMEWORK for disaster risk reduction is an
international document .
It was adopted by UN members states on18 march 2015 at the UN
WCDRR held in sendai, Japan and endorsed by the UN general
assembly in June 2015 .
This document emerged from 3 years of talk, assisted by the
UNISDR.
It’s a improve version of Hyogo Framework For Action HFA(2005-
2015)
4. PRIORITIES OF SENDAI FRAMEWORK
Understanding disaster risk.
Strengthening disaster risk governance to manage disaster risk.
Investing in disaster risk reduction for resilience.
Enhancing disaster preparedness for effective response, and to Build Back Better
in Recovery Rehabilitation and Reconstruction.
5. TARGETS
Reduce global disaster mortality by 2030.
Reduce the number of affected people globally by 2030.
Reduce direct disaster economic loss in relation to global GDP by
2030.
Reduce disaster damage to critical infrastructure and disruption of
basic services, like health and educational facilities .

9. IMPLEMENTATION IN INDIA
INDIA’S first ever NDMP was released by SH.Narendra Modi on 01.06.2016 at New
Delhi.
It is based on the sendai framework for disaster risk reduction.
The plan is based on the four priority theme of the sendai framework.
The plan (NDMP) covers all phases of disaster management prevention, mitigation,
response and recovery.
The first AMCDRR conference after the introduction of sendai framework was held
at New Delhi on nov.2016.
