Public Services Policy Analysis
Policy and its effect on Public services
Economists employed by the government are involved in implementing policies, which were
especially established to meet government s objectives that are very often multidimensional. There are
four very fundamental objectives for viable economy, including decreasing the unemployment rates in
certain regions, lower or stabilise the inflation , constant economic growth and a satisfactory balance
of payments position. The UK economy continues to suffer from a number of underlying structural
weaknesses. The government is now set on providing the economic framework, which will enhance
the opportunity to raise a sustainable rate of economy growth, (Anderton, 2006). Economic growth

Government s objectives have transformed from from long standing ones and have focused on
inflation and stable macro stance through establishing supply side policies. Moreover, supply side
policy has a direct or indirect impact on many government s spheres. Cutting the marginal rate of
income was a major supply side objective during the Thatcher s governance. At the beginning of
Thatcher governance in 1979, the standard rate of income was 33 per cent and the top rate was more
than 80 per cent. By 1997 the standard income rate fell to 23 per cent and the top rate was only 40 per
cent, (Sloman, 2007). Such policy appears to be prosperous as the Blair government continued with
this policy. According to many economists, cuts in the marginal rate of income tax have a positive
effects, for example, people wish to work long hours, people work more enthusiastically, employment
rises and unemployment rapidly falls. Furthermore, the Thatcher s government took a number of
measures to reduce the power of labour in order to encourage investments and hence economic
growth, (Sloman, 2007). Conservative government believed that the rise of economic growth can be
achieved by helping to small businesses, which are very fundamental as they create provide job

Robert W. Strayer s Ways Of The World
Ways of the world is among the most innovative books that encompass the world history. The book is
written by Author Robert W.Strayer. He highlights the Greek culture giving some solid reasons why
most Mediterranean world adopted the Greek culture that influenced them for a long time.
Basing at the strayer argument, he argued that among the factors that contributed to Mediterranean
area adapting to Greek culture were because of the political development, whereby he said that
availability of the mountainous terrain facilitated the elaboration of the towns and the city states.
Moreover, most Greeks cities were designed in a way that they were able to support and promote
commercial activities such as trade. Therefore, comparing many features in Greek culture and those of
the areas such as in Mediterranean contributed to the lasting effects of Greek culture and its spread
throughout the Mediterranean world.
Moreover, the political activities in Greek were recommendable for it treated individuals in a way that
they had right to choose their leaders through the introduction of demokratia which means rule by
people. Therefore, through using of the democratic governance most areas adopted their political

that the Catholic Counter Reformation also practiced in Greek was among the recommendable act that
was imitated and adopted by other people. For example, through the catholic counter reformation
issues relating to corruption, abuses, gender inequality was curbed. Besides, it emphasized on
accountability and embraced education hence making other areas to adopt their culture and stick to it

Eagle Project Accomplishments
The completion of the final project required for the rank of Eagle in Boy Scouts is what I would
consider the most important point of maturity for me personally, and my biggest accomplishment to
date. The project is included to test the leadership skills of those completing it, as well as their
determination. The whole rank of Eagle is aimed towards showing determination, in fact, with
requirements such as staying in an active leadership position for multiple months or the need for a
certain number of specific merit badges. These are gained over time and for most who get this far the
Eagle Project is one of their last goals yet to be achieved. My project was to help the community

The Industrial Revolution And The Invention And Wide...
The major contributors to climate change so far had been the Industrial Revolution and the invention
and wide spread use of the gasoline powered automobile. The world had now become industrialized
and new technologies were constantly being invented. The next big event to come from this happened
soon after 1945. After the end of World War II in 1945 the world s economy started to recover. This
sent industrial production into overdrive. The automobile industry quadrupled and major corporations
became bigger than ever before (Jeffries). The United States had begun to feel the effects of
industrialization in the 18th century, but at the end of World War II the economy was beginning to
pick up sending the United States into another period of industrialization. The burning of all this coal
and oil put pollution into the atmosphere, partially blocking the sun s rays. This effect caused the years
1940 1970 to get cooler, leading some to speculate that the world was heading toward a new ice age
(Jeffries). But in the 1970 s the earth started getting warmer again, and the phrase global warming was
now used in some research papers (Jeffries).
Human induced climate change was not created on purpose. During the industrial revolution, it was
not known that coal was a greenhouse gas and that releasing all of this into the atmosphere was a bad
thing. There were almost no regulations put on coal burning factories, and eventually the automobile
was invented and popularized. Gasoline was not

Ohana Language Conventions
Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen and thank you for this opportunity to share with you today. I am
honoured to discuss with you the effectiveness, in regards to technology and language conventions, of
the short film Ohana. With the intention of creating a film that brought to light serious issues whilst
upholding a prodigious standard as a production, this film was successful as such through the plentiful
access to various technologies as well as the implementation of language conventions and codes. To
begin with, we will be viewing Ohana for the purpose of its reference later on. Media: Ohana In the
viewing of any production, the director s input is palpable as unique and is often attributed to the
director s auteur style. The Auteur Theory in which this notion derives from is attributed to François
Truffaut as he wrote about it an essay entitled A Certain Tendency in French Cinema. In this essay,
Truffaut claimed that directors are able to express their personal ideas in the greatest medium of
contemporary society: film. He is often quoted as saying There are no good and bad movies, only
good and bad directors (Australian Catholic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to inexperience and naivety in regards to camera movement, the intended results were unable to
be achieved and thus not included in the final production. Camera movement, as a convention, was not
able to be utilised in an effortless manner with attempts appearing as jerky and without fluid motion.
Therefore, as these shots were distracting and ineffective, they were not included in the final version
of Ohana. This disclusion had no detrimental effect on the production however did limit some of the
opportunities for camera movement and perhaps did not allow for a complex range of shots. This, in
turn, had somewhat of an impact on the

Identity Confusion Analysis
However, Toni Morrison examines the theme of Identity confusion by analyzing Pecola s struggle
with abuse, racism, and low self esteem. Each struggle exemplifies the concept of being black within a
black world, and blackness in a predominately white world. The author achieves this by using multiple
comparisons of various other characters that sympathize with Pecola, except they have a different
experience in life. This novel was inscribed from a child and an adult s perspective which helps
portray both worlds that exist; a never ending theme of broken identities. How can two people that are
still broken and confused in their identity raise children to be whole and know who they are? Other

Who would wish to be subjected to a neighborhood where you are mistreated for having black skin?
Geraldine only allows her son to play in the playground with upper class colored people. Junior s
mother categorizes Pecola as the breed of lower class niggers in their society. One day, Junior tricks
Pecola into coming to his house to glimpse his kittens; on the contrary, things yield a ruthless turn.
The cat was thrown on Pecola s face by Junior and she got scratched up. Pecola subsequently tries to
leave the house and Junior closes her in. The cat ends up falling to death from the radiator and that is
when Geraldine comes home. Without hesitation, Junior blames the incident on Pecola, thus,
Geraldine calls her a nasty little black bitch and forces her to leave. (92) Life itself can be challenging
at times; however, I could not imagine blacks being treated like this again. Historically, whites have
always been privileged to disrespect blacks, mainly through racism and abuse. Research certifies that
the first appearance of racism may have started in 1688 in Great Britain during the Glorious
Revolution. Historically, Racism has generated hate groups over the years that disregard other ethnic
groups on the belief that their differentiations are hereditary and unable to be changed. Pecola
enduring cruelty for being black correlates with the KKK, which targets African Americans just for
being that skin tone. Without hesitation, black men, women, girls, and boys would be hung from trees.
It got so bad that nobody felt safe going places anymore, but leave it to the KKK to bring violence to
the homes of innocent people. This horrifying act of lynching was not sufficient, the group began to
burn houses down and would leave burning crosses in their yards. By doing this, the KKK was
sending a well notified signal and warning to all African

Why Do Best Choices In The Giver Essay
Those who know more about concepts in life, will make better choices. If someone has knowledge
about something, they most likely will make wiser decisions about it. The more intelligence someone
has, the more good and bad they will see in the world. People who gain wisdom, may see the best
things in life, causing them to make the best choices as well. In The Giver, by Lois Lowry, those who
have more wisdom will see both negative and positive aspects in life and will make wiser decisions
for themselves and others.
When someone gains wisdom, the choices they make can have an affect on what lies ahead. That
someone is known as The Giver, from the book, The Giver, by Lois Lowry. When The Giver was the
Receiver of Memory, he gained great wisdom from experiencing important events in the past, causing
his knowledge to expand immensely. The choices that The Giver made for the community were

Giver explains that the memories give them wisdom which helps them in their lives. When the people

the wisdom they need. A quote that portrays this is, Why do you and I have to hold these memories? It
gives us wisdom, The Giver replied, Without wisdom I could not fulfill my function of advising the
Committee of Elders when they call upon me. (Lowry, pg. 140) People who achieve wisdom are
looked up to in the world. Normal individuals sometimes depend on that person when they need help
on something. It is usually when the person with wisdom assists the other with making a certain
decision. They can often see if the outcome is going to be good or bad. This is one more example of
how those who have wisdom are looked up to, and relied upon to settle on the best

4G Long Term Evolution Case Analysis
Abstract
Telecommunication technologies have evolved rapidly over the past decades, a situation which led to
the arrival of the 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) to provide faster data speed better than the legacy
3G EVDO data technology. Certainly, LTE has been of great benefit to both individuals and
corporations across the globe. However, operators are often faced with challenges such us Capacity
constraints, slow throughput due to increased numbers of usage, interference from other wireless
equipment, as well as poor coverage issues.
Over the years, telecommunication operators have been adopting strategies to mitigate all these
challenges in order to improve user experience. This research focused specifically on the optimization
of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is also believed that the common issues that occur in the LTE network could be reduced drastically
if attention if given to certain engineering practices. The research revealed and discussed some of
those factors.
Furthermore, to understand the concept of LTE optimization in the practical sense, a case study was
done with drive test data collected on Nex tech wireless network and a detailed analysis was made and
some issues were identified and rectified in the network.
By and large, the findings from the research and the deductions from the case study only proved that
there is a tremendous benefit in adopting a quality optimization strategy in any LTE network. More so,
not only do the subscribers get great quality of service but the operators also make maximum financial
gains.
Introduction
LTE network optimization remains an integral part of the LTE network. The main objective of
optimizing the LTE network is to ensure that (Ue) has good service which translates to good user
experience such as high data speed. The LTE optimization approach usually follows a process.
Optimization engineers follow this process to find out where the problems in the network are as well
as identifying what the problems are and then subsequently proposing ways to resolving them.
The first stage of the process is data collection where very sophisticated tools and

The History of the Russian Revolution Essay
The Russian Revolution is a widely studied and seemingly well understood time in modern, European
history, boasting a vast wealth of texts and information from those of the likes of Robert Service,
Simon Sebag Montefiore, Allan Bullock, Robert Conquest and Jonathan Reed, to name a few, but
none is so widely sourced and so heavily relied upon than that of the account of Leon Trotsky, his
book History of the Russian Revolution a somewhat firsthand account of the events leading up to the
formation of the Soviet Union. There is no doubt that Trotsky s book, among others, has played a
pivotal role in shaping our understanding of the events of The Revolution; but have his personal

Figes stating that The masses were...largely passive in their demands and actions; the Bolsheviks
successfully manipulated and exploited this... . These views could largely be due to the History from
Above standpoint of Liberal historians that did much of the post Union analysis at the tail end of the
Cold War. This forms many of our traditional views of the nature of The Revolution. The view is also
entangled with Soviet historical development; many of the preliminary analyses were conducted by
the Bolshevik revolutionaries themselves and, as such, they are highly political and driven by the need
to establish the legitimacy of the Bolshevik regime. While Trotsky is a standout of these historians for
his political dissent and blatant disregard for Stalinist power, he is still one of many. This fact greatly
mitigates his effect on the passage of history; his need to legitimise the revolution echoes the
sentiments of the Politburo historians such as Mikhail Pokrovsky, one of the foremost Bolshevik
Historians of the time and one of Trotsky s ideological and Historical rivals. While this may be the
case for the more information limited Soviet historians, the more modern, revisionist historians such
as Edward Acton, Robert Service, Harold Shukman and Steven Smith have had great exposure to
much of the confidential literature, kept secret by the many Soviet Purges and the prolific Iron Curtain
. In the view of Acton Russia s workers were

Organizational leadership means the process of improving actions of line managers and decision
makers through better knowledge and understanding. To operate effectively, organizations need to fit
or align themselves with their environment, strategies, capabilities and leadership skills. To compete
successfully in highly competitive and constantly changing business environment, however,
organizations also need to achieve fitness and the ability to learn and change to fit new circumstances.
In other words, firms can lose their competitive advantage through the lapse of time, therefore
leadership skills are the only sustainable competitive advantage firms can have.
After a colleagues discussion, and a series research, we have decided that Hewlett Packard (HP) will
be the subject of our case study for the Organizational Leadership course project. Reason being, the
HP culture speaks, acts, and operates within their values, which will be further elaborated in their
motto that is widely shared at HP, The HP Way . The core organizational values have been embedded

The New York Times Coverage Of The Holocaust
This research topic was on the New York Times coverage of the Holocaust. When first starting this
report the idea of how the Holocaust was treated in the United States never truly came to mind. After
doing a research project on it, the things that came up was some unbelievable stuff. The American
reporting on the Holocaust was absolutely atrocious, in one of the biggest genocides in all of history,
almost half of the American people didn t even know about the Holocaust and still to this day most
people don t know much about it; One of the biggest newspapers out at this time failed in getting
important information out to the American people, and the sad part about it all is that not only did the
newspaper know about it, but the President of the United States as well. Unpublished Information The
New York Times had all the information on what was happening in Europe, however even though the
editors knew the information just DIMINISHED. The thing I truly never understood is that, why
would reporters have information and never publish what they truly could. Its essence became
knowable very fast, from Nazi threats and undisputed eyewitness reports collected by Americans
agents (Gonchar). The original sin of neglecting the Holocaust and the current trend that has seen
unprecedented coverage of alleged genocides may very well be linked, (Kersten). The New York
Times, the nation s leading newspaper, didn t report on the full effect of the killing of the Jews. ( The

The tedious hours on the plane ended as I walked to the bus, which drove the passengers to the airport.
The Australian warm currents of air hit me for the first time as if I had just opened up an oven to
paradise with the scorching heat masking my face. This is the feeling I had forgotten existed since
being back in London. I forced my mood to placate, as I was now no longer tightly squeezed as if I

Goodness me, isn t Australia big? With one hand on my hip, the other shading my vision, I gazed
across the alluring skyline. It seemed as if there was absolutely nothing for miles on end or so I
thought. I could see a patch of pink in the distance, amongst all the dry land. Nowadays my eye sight
is about as reliable as a chocolate teapot, so I grabbed the nearest pair of binoculars I could find. I
squinted as I twisted the eye cups till I could see the pink patch had focused. I grinned excessively.
Bingo. Australia s famous Pink Lake.

Observation Of Body Posture And Motion Essay
Abstract In this paper, remembrance of body posture and motion is an important physiological
function that can keep the body in balance and give the confidence to person. There are many man
made motion sensors have also been widely applied in biomedical applications including diagnosis of
balance disorders and evaluation of energy outlay, calories consumption calculation. This paper
reviews sensing components utilized for body motion measurement. The working principles of a
natural body motion sensor, pulse rate of heart, are first described. Here various components like
accelerometer, pulse rate sensor, ARM10 are then elaborated based on their characteristic sensing
mechanisms. In this paper by introducing small, low cost, better sensors with a wireless network, the
novel project aim to provide a path towards more independent living for all kind of people and play
important role in basic research as well as hospital diagnosis.

There are a few qualities that should be taken into consideration when asking: What makes an epic
hero an epic hero? Whitney Houston was an epic hero in a lot of ways.Whitney Houston embodies the
characteristics of an epic hero because she exhibited humility, experienced different landscapes in life,
and even with all her wonderful traits, battled one of the worst monsters in history. Whitney Houston
was a very contributing and considerate person. Her humility was one that could not easily be

Fletcher s physical and emotional abuse behavior seems to strengthen him. Although the audience
might expect students to succumb to pressure in the hands of seemingly tyrannical instructor, they
thrive and exhibit his quest to learn despite the obvious challenges. Arguably, Andrew typifies what
artists can achieve if they believe in their mentors despite humiliation and misery in the music
industry. Andrew shows the audience perseverance, especially when he plays the drums to a point of
bleeding (Chazelle). The fear of losing the tempo and beat is well reflected in student s keenness to
practice according to the teacher s instructions. In Andrew s character, Damien Chazelle infuses the
highest level of ambition. Fletcher complements this goal to the degree of obsession and perfection.
Although Andrew experiences the extreme psychological and physical trauma from the jazz mentor,
he is willing to sacrifice everything to achieve success. The concept of achievement and failure is
evident in the duo s stellar performance.
Whiplash captures the concept of success and failure in which the former prevails. In the hands of
strict and perfectionist instructor, Andrew has to sacrifice everything, including his girlfriend and his
relationship with his father to become a great jazz drummer. Skillfully, Chazelle maneuvers Andrew s

The Toronto Maple Leafs And The Nhl
May 13, 2013 A day that will go down in history as one of the most devastating days for fans of the
Toronto Maple Leafs. After an 113 day lockout at the beginning of the season, the Leafs made the
playoffs for the first time in 9 years. They were playing the Boston Bruins in the first round and made
it all the way to game 7. Leafs fans around the world were glued to their TV s as they watched their
team build a seemingly impenetrable 4 1 lead with 15 minutes to go in the third period, all they had to
do was hang on to it... The Bruins added a second goal with 9:18 remaining, and then the unthinkable
happened. In the span of thirty one seconds, Boston netted their third and fourth of the game to tie
things up with only seconds remaining, sending the game to overtime. There s nothing more exciting
and nerve wracking than Game Seven overtime, but unfortunately for the Toronto Maple Leafs, their
dreams of winning the cup were once again extinguished. They added another year since the last time
they won the coveted Stanley Cup: 46 years and counting (now up to 48 years in 2016) the longest
drought without a Cup for any NHL team in history. Yet even with such a long drought without a cup,
Maple Leaf fans remain some of the most loyal and dedicated in all of professional sports. The team

Inhumanity In Today s Society
When it becomes necessary for one to question his own liberties, his own freedom, and his own

We hold these truths to be self evident, that all youth is created equal, that we share the same

Great White Shark Attacks
Great white sharks are extraordinary creatures. They have a massive diet, and their habitat can range
from the surface of the water to 800 feet down and possibly more. These massive sharks can be
mysterious in their own ways.
Great whites can be found along the coasts of Australia, South Africa, California, and North Eastern
United States. They can also be found in other places that have warm, salty water. Most Great White
shark attacks are rare. It s even rarer for one of those attacks to be fatal. Great Whites are naturally
curious and when they see a human, the sun reflects off of the person s skin, so it looks like a fish. In
100 plus shark attacks, about one third to one half are Great Whites. Great Whites are naturally

My Grandfather, Albert S. Thanhauser
In 1952 my grandfather, Albert S. Thanhauser, waited in line with the incoming class of Air Force
soldiers in upstate New York as they prepared to enter the Korean War. Each quaking private
presented their papers to the stone faced officer at the front of the line, to receive their military
assignment. As my grandfather approached with his documentation, something peculiar happened.
Hmm... Thanhauser, muttered the gruff officer, M.O.T.? he asked quietly. A Brooklyn Jew, Al s eyes lit
up as he nodded and his papers were placed with the rest in the pile. M.O.T: Member of the Tribe, was
an instantly recognizable code of camaraderie amongst Jews. Two weeks after this encounter, the night
before being shipped off to Korea, Al received a memo: He was being pulled from the pack headed for
Hell and instead was shipped to Japan to set up a flight school at an American base. The two years he
spent on the airbase were some of the best of his life. Was this story was likely intended to instill me
with a connection to Judaism? Was it just another of my Grandpa s crazy stories? I had always focused
on the result of this story how it dramatically affected my grandfather s life. But as I have grown older,
the story has begun to resonate with me as beautiful demonstration of an act of kindness and virtue
that I learn and grow from.
The story of how my Grandfather s Jewish identity spared him from the front lines of the Korean War
and led him toward life long adventure in Japan has been

Questions On The Mediation Resolution
Reporting and Responding
My first assessable item of Dispute Resolution was to conduct a mock facilitative mediation role play.
Mediation is as a self determinative and typically voluntary process which encourages disputing
parties to negotiate, with the support of a mediator, based upon conflicting interests. The ultimate
function of mediation is to gain a mutually agreeable outcome. Facilitative, as opposed to advisory, or
evaluative, mediation is a self determinative dispute resolution process which encourages
involvement.
In a practice role play of this model, which was carried out one week prior to the assessment due date,
the composition of groups were assigned. My group consisted of two mediators, James Musgrave and
Jake Lengui, and two parties which were allocated to Lauren Bicknell and myself.
The scenario was uniform for all groups in my tutorial, revolving around a conflict of interest between
Sam and Pat. Sam, who was a violinist with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, and Pat, who had a
full time job as a writer, were neighbours who rented an apartment a conflict subsequently developed
over noise. Both parties in this scenario require uninterrupted work on their respective jobs, with Pat
working against the clock to finish his latest manuscript and Sam practicing for an important
upcoming concert. Lauren and I agreed that I was to play the role of Sam, and she was to play the role
of Pat.
Following the opening statements of the mediators , I had to

p.s.morrell@cranfield.ac.uk Abstract A key question is whether the very successful, largely short haul
LCC business model can work over long haul sectors? This paper compares the cost and other
advantages of LCCs and evaluates how far they might be applied to long haul sectors. It is estimated
that cost advantages might be much lower than the 50 60% on shorthauls. Other factors such as the

Ryanair s and AirAsia s announcement of their intentions to move into long haul markets has added to
interest in the potential for such services. A previous paper addressed the degree to which the low cost
model could be applied to long haul operations (Francis et al, 2007). That study (based on 2003 data)
concluded that a low cost long haul operation could only achieve a 20% cost advantage over network
carriers compared to 50% on short/medium haul flights. Their definition of long haul flights will also
be adopted here: any sector that cannot be operated by an 3 unconverted A320 or B737, the
workhorses of the low cost business model to date. This effectively means flights of six hours or
more.1 The head of Boeing s commercial aircraft division thought that there might be a market for low
cost transatlantic flights; any further and creature comforts will be required (Morgan, 2007). However,
existing long haul Y class cabins offer seat comfort that is scarcely better than many short haul LCCs.
Furthermore other in flight amenities would certainly be available for purchase on a long haul LCC.
This paper examines the potential for long haul LCCs, first by reviewing previous proposals, looking
at costs and competitive reactions before assessing market stimulation and the need for feed.

Congenital Heart Disease Research Paper
Congenital Heart Disease
A little girl by the name of Jaelyn was born with congenital heart disease (CHD). Jaelyn s parents
learned about her condition called Ebstein s Anomaly during a fetal echocardiogram when her mother
was only 30 weeks pregnant. The doctors and nurses at Cardinal Glennon Children s Hospital
monitored Jaelyn in utero to watch for hydrops (heart failure) and other indications her heart disease
was affecting her growth. Jaelyn went into heart failure just five weeks later when her mother was
only 35 weeks pregnant. She was given a 5% chance of survival due to the severity of her defect. The
family was also told Jaelyn would not survive past her first birthday; she turns five in March. When
Jaelyn was born, her entire family was afraid she wouldn t survive the delivery, but thankfully, Jaelyn
s story is a true miracle. When the doctors see Jaelyn during routine checkups and physician visits,
they can t believe she has Ebstein s Anomaly because for how far she has come and how healthy she
looks. Sadly, not every child with congenital heart disease gets the miracle Jaelyn has been given.

During these first seven weeks a congenital heart defect typically occurs. Congenital heart disease is
when the heart forms either incompletely or incorrectly in utero. Acquired heart disease occurs later in
life. Infants are born with a normal heart that malfunctions later. Signs of acquired heart disease in
adults are the heart is beating too fast or too slow, beats erratically, infections, or it is stiff and pumps
poorly. Acquired heart disease in children is typically associated with bacterial or viral infections.

Case Study Patient Referral
Patient Referral Case Study The referral of a patient to care outside of your practice is an importance
decision for a primary care manager (PCM) in the care of their beneficiaries. The referral decision
must include not only whether that patient would be best since by a specialist, but by which specialist
(Kinchen, Cooper et al. 2004) the beneficiary would best benefit. In order to ensure the best care from
the specialist effective patient information must be exchanged between care providers in a timely
manner. Health Information Exchange (HIE), which is also known as Summary of Care , is an
objective that is required for eligible professionals (EPs), eligible hospitals and critical access
hospitals (CAHs) that are taking part of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Program from
2015 until 2017 under Meaningful Use Stage 2 (MU2). The objective contains one required measure
for participation in the program. The measure is: certified EHR technology (CEHRT) must be used to
create a summary of care record which is to be used transmit care information between entities
involved in the care of the patient referred (Services 2016). The items that must be included in the
Summary of Care documents, provided the referring provider knows the information, are shown in
Table 1 (Mostashari 2012, Services 2016). Currently the standard format that has been adopted for
Summary of Care documents follows Consolidated Clinical Document Architecture (C CDA)
guidelines.

History of the Origins of Environmental Ethics Essay
History of the Origins of Environmental Ethics
The inspiration for environmental ethics was the first Earth Day in 1970 when environmentalists
started urging philosophers who were involved with environmental groups to do something about
environmental ethics. An intellectual climate had developed in the last few years of the 1960s in large
part because of the publication of two papers in Science: Lynn White s The Historical Roots of our
Ecologic Crisis (March 1967) and Garett Hardin s The Tragedy of the Commons (December 1968).
Most influential with regard to this kind of thinking, however, was an essay in Aldo Leopold s A Sand
County Almanac, The Land Ethic, in which Leopold explicitly claimed that the roots of the ecological

Most debate among philosophers until the mid 1980s was focused on refuting Passmore. In 1975
environmental ethics came to the attention of mainstream philosophy with the publication of Holmes
Rolston, III s paper, Is There an Ecological Ethic? in Ethics.
Arne Naess, a Norwegian philosopher and the founding editor of the journal Inquiry authored and
published a paper in Inquiry The Shallow and the Deep, Long Range Ecology Movement in 1973,
which was the beginning of the deep ecology movement. Important writers in this movement include
George Sessions, Bill DeVall, Warwick Fox, and, in some respects, Max Oelschlaeger.
Throughout the 1970s Inquiry was the primary philosophy journal that dealt with enviornmental
ethics. Environmental ethics was, for the most part, considered a curiousity and mainstream
philosophy journals rarely published more than one article per year, if that. Opportunities for
publishing dramatically improved in 1979 when Eugene C. Hargrove founded the journal
Environmental Ethics. The name of the journal became the name of the field.
The first five years of the journal was spent mostly arguing about rights for nature and the relationship

Vision Zero policies have proved effective in the United States. Minnesota, Utah and Washington
State, traffic fatalities have fallen steadily since the introduction of Vision Zero style programs in the
early 2000 s; a 43% reduction in Minnesota, 48% reduction in Utah and a 40% decrease in
Washington. While traffic fatalities nationwide are falling, largely due to improvements in
emergency/trauma care and vehicle enhancements such as airbags, fatality rates in Vision Zero states
fell over 25% faster than the nation since 1997.
This report investigates existing city Vision Zero policies and programs in other cities in the United
States and abroad. This memo will examine the academic research that evaluates these policies
effectiveness saving lives, then identify ways in which the city can work towards eliminating road
fatalities and serious injuries. It is recommended that the city make safety the explicit goal or the
primary outcome of the street transportation system. In order to do so, the city should adopt as its
guiding vision a commitment that no one should be killed or seriously injured on Philadelphia streets.

Country Music And Bernie s Song God Bless America
When it comes to singers, rappers, country artists, or anyone who makes music they are usually about
historical events that have happened in the past or are just happening me right now. In country music a
lot of the time they talk about things that are happening in their lives like break ups, deaths in the
family or just about what they are going through. Rappers are usually talking about another rapper, but
some times it is about the difficult times they are going through. When it comes to hard core metal
music or as people call it death metal they do talk about their lives and how they are hard, but in some
peoples mind it is hard to understand. All the music that people make has a meaning to them in some
way that only they understand, or you have to listen to the lyrics very carefully to understand what
they are talking about. During September 11th, 2001 four airplanes were hijacked, two were headed

Appealing to an older audience, the movie often gives bolstering sections of humor that may draw
attention from children audience members, however, several puns can be lost on the audience if they
are ignorant of the subject. Compensating for the misguided audience members, the actors themselves
provide for entertaining and striking performances. Emotional and seemingly genuine personalities
produced by the actors embody the characters which causes connection with the audience. Yet another
fine feature of Auntie Mame is the movie s settings. Just as unique and colorful as Auntie Mame
herself, the settings accurately depict a wide array of places and provides subtle details which could
give the audience a longing to re watch the movie. Despite the comical aspects, excellent
performances, and distinct settings, the movie isn t flawless. Due to Auntie Mame s age, modern
audiences may dislike the hazy video quality that the movie possesses. Otherwise than the poor
picture qualities, the movie s graphic effects are also inferior to today s films. In scenes of dangerous
actions an observant audience may be able to locate the use of stunt doubles which detracts from the
audiences experience. However, with numerous superb characteristics the movie has, audiences are

What Makes 1000 Degrees Different?
When comparing franchise chains, potential owners need to consider what makes the franchise stand
out in the crowd. A unique product sells better than one that looks, feels or tastes like every other, yet

Common Good Argument
Galston (2013) claims that idea of the common good has real content in theory and real utility in
practice , throughout his essay on the common good, he provides sufficient evidence to back his main
claim and he uses it to refute the arguments of others. He defines three key aspects of the common
good to support his claim of the common good having real content in theory , these include: Inherently
social goods , Social linkages and The good of the commons . Galston (2013) then proceeds to give

impossible, because humor requires surprise , as a result, this allows us to make the inference that

this case) would be lost. Galston (2013) states that The good of the commons is when how people
behave in shared social spaces impacts others (p.11). If we carelessly leave an unextinguished fire in a
camp ground, the entire facility may go up in flames. (p.11), this shows how the common good
includes everyone s best interests and this example in fact shows that it does have real content in

The Importance Of The Sea Otters
Did you know that the endangerment or eventual extinction of a species affects other animal
extinction and eventually affects human well being? One such species is the sea otter. The sea otter
has an important role in the ecological preservation of pacific kelp forests.
Sea Otters contribute towards the overall health and well being of the ecosystem they inhabit. The sea
otter is an important predator in the nearshore marine ecosystem of the North Pacific Ocean. It is
considered a keystone species in the ecosystem. They limit the prey populations of a variety of marine
invertebrates that reside near the shore. Sea otters have large scale community effects disproportionate
to their abundance. (Carswell and Long, 2). Their main prey consists of sea urchins and abalone. Sea
urchins and abalone devour the kelp forests that run along the coasts of California. Sea otters
contribute to kelp production by eating these invertebrates, thus where there are sea otters, kelp forests
spread along the continental shelf. The California kelp forests have the greatest biodiversity of the
temperate latitudes (Recarte) Kelp forests are the Ocean s rainforest (Recarte). Sea Otters are
considered a sentinel species, which means their fitness reveals the health of the ecosystem.
Contaminants in the ocean have a large effect on Sea Otters. These contaminants cause
biomagnification because of the lack of enzymes to break down and expel the toxins. Examples of
contaminants that affect Sea

Public Services Policy Analysis Policy and its effect on Public services Economists employed by the government are involved in implementing policies, which were especially established to meet government s objectives that are very often multidimensional. There are four very fundamental objectives for viable economy, including decreasing the unemployment rates in certain regions, lower or stabilise the inflation , constant economic growth and a satisfactory balance of payments position. The UK economy continues to suffer from a number of underlying structural weaknesses. Government s objectives have transformed from from long standing ones and have focused on inflation and stable macro stance through establishing supply side policies. Moreover, supply side policy has a direct or indirect impact on many government s spheres. Cutting the marginal rate of income was a major supply side objective during the Thatcher s governance. At the beginning of Thatcher governance in 1979, the standard rate of income was 33 per cent and the top rate was more than 80 per cent. By 1997 the standard income rate fell to 23 per cent and the top rate was only 40 per cent, (Sloman, 2007). Such policy appears to be prosperous as the Blair government continued with this policy. According to many economists, cuts in the marginal rate of income tax have a positive effects, for example, people wish to work long hours, people work more enthusiastically, employment rises and unemployment rapidly falls. Furthermore, the Thatcher s government took a number of measures to reduce the power of labour in order to encourage investments and hence economic growth, (Sloman, 2007). The whole rank of Eagle is aimed towards showing determination, in fact, with requirements such as staying in an active leadership position for multiple months or the need for a certain number of specific merit badges. • 5. The Industrial Revolution And The Invention And Wide... The major contributors to climate change so far had been the Industrial Revolution and the invention and wide spread use of the gasoline powered automobile. The world had now become industrialized and new technologies were constantly being invented. The next big event to come from this happened soon after 1945. After the end of World War II in 1945 the world s economy started to recover. This sent industrial production into overdrive. The automobile industry quadrupled and major corporations became bigger than ever before (Jeffries). The United States had begun to feel the effects of industrialization in the 18th century, but at the end of World War II the economy was beginning to pick up sending the United States into another period of industrialization. The burning of all this coal and oil put pollution into the atmosphere, partially blocking the sun s rays. This effect caused the years 1940 1970 to get cooler, leading some to speculate that the world was heading toward a new ice age (Jeffries). But in the 1970 s the earth started getting warmer again, and the phrase global warming was now used in some research papers (Jeffries). Human induced climate change was not created on purpose. During the industrial revolution, it was not known that coal was a greenhouse gas and that releasing all of this into the atmosphere was a bad thing. There were almost no regulations put on coal burning factories, and eventually the automobile was invented and popularized. Gasoline was not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Identity Confusion Analysis However, Toni Morrison examines the theme of Identity confusion by analyzing Pecola s struggle with abuse, racism, and low self esteem. Each struggle exemplifies the concept of being black within a black world, and blackness in a predominately white world. The author achieves this by using multiple comparisons of various other characters that sympathize with Pecola, except they have a different experience in life. This novel was inscribed from a child and an adult s perspective which helps portray both worlds that exist; a never ending theme of broken identities. Geraldine only allows her son to play in the playground with upper class colored people. Junior s mother categorizes Pecola as the breed of lower class niggers in their society. One day, Junior tricks Pecola into coming to his house to glimpse his kittens; on the contrary, things yield a ruthless turn. The cat was thrown on Pecola s face by Junior and she got scratched up. Pecola subsequently tries to leave the house and Junior closes her in. The cat ends up falling to death from the radiator and that is when Geraldine comes home. Without hesitation, Junior blames the incident on Pecola, thus, Geraldine calls her a nasty little black bitch and forces her to leave. (92) Life itself can be challenging at times; however, I could not imagine blacks being treated like this again. Historically, whites have always been privileged to disrespect blacks, mainly through racism and abuse. Research certifies that the first appearance of racism may have started in 1688 in Great Britain during the Glorious Revolution. Historically, Racism has generated hate groups over the years that disregard other ethnic groups on the belief that their differentiations are hereditary and unable to be changed. Pecola enduring cruelty for being black correlates with the KKK, which targets African Americans just for being that skin tone. Without hesitation, black men, women, girls, and boys would be hung from trees. It got so bad that nobody felt safe going places anymore, but leave it to the KKK to bring violence to the homes of innocent people. This horrifying act of lynching was not sufficient, the group began to burn houses down and would leave burning crosses in their yards. The History of the Russian Revolution Essay The Russian Revolution is a widely studied and seemingly well understood time in modern, European history, boasting a vast wealth of texts and information from those of the likes of Robert Service, Simon Sebag Montefiore, Allan Bullock, Robert Conquest and Jonathan Reed, to name a few, but none is so widely sourced and so heavily relied upon than that of the account of Leon Trotsky, his book History of the Russian Revolution a somewhat firsthand account of the events leading up to the formation of the Soviet Union. These views could largely be due to the History from Above standpoint of Liberal historians that did much of the post Union analysis at the tail end of the Cold War. This forms many of our traditional views of the nature of The Revolution. The view is also entangled with Soviet historical development; many of the preliminary analyses were conducted by the Bolshevik revolutionaries themselves and, as such, they are highly political and driven by the need to establish the legitimacy of the Bolshevik regime. While Trotsky is a standout of these historians for his political dissent and blatant disregard for Stalinist power, he is still one of many. This fact greatly mitigates his effect on the passage of history; his need to legitimise the revolution echoes the sentiments of the Politburo historians such as Mikhail Pokrovsky, one of the foremost Bolshevik Historians of the time and one of Trotsky s ideological and Historical rivals. While this may be the case for the more information limited Soviet historians, the more modern, revisionist historians such as Edward Acton, Robert Service, Harold Shukman and Steven Smith have had great exposure to much of the confidential literature, kept secret by the many Soviet Purges and the prolific Iron Curtain . Compensating for the misguided audience members, the actors themselves provide for entertaining and striking performances. One such species is the sea otter. The sea otter has an important role in the ecological preservation of pacific kelp forests. Sea Otters contribute towards the overall health and well being of the ecosystem they inhabit. The sea otter is an important predator in the nearshore marine ecosystem of the North Pacific Ocean. It is considered a keystone species in the ecosystem. They limit the prey populations of a variety of marine invertebrates that reside near the shore. Sea otters have large scale community effects disproportionate to their abundance. (Carswell and Long, 2). Their main prey consists of sea urchins and abalone.
