Proper Strategy Implementation And Evaluation Of Dish Network
This essay will react to the proper strategy implementation and evaluation that should be adopted by
Dish Network. Dish is an American based corporation that provides broadcasting services to clients
via television and the internet. A strategic management plan such as that possessed by Dish can be
successfully implemented when a high focus is placed on measuring the level of performance and
commitment in the implementationand evaluation phases. The strategic plan should be evaluated
before, and after it is implemented. Some of Dish s past strategies have been unsuccessful, while
some were implemented successfully. Before a strategic plan is implemented at Dish Network, the
organization has always ensured that it has several parameters in check. The delivery process that
is to be utilized in the implementation of the specific strategy is usually aligned to the vision of the
corporation.
Dish Corporation s strategy has in the past been successfully achieved based on correct timing in
merging policies, operations, and incorporating the required changes within the organization. In the
past, the company has ensured that its financial and administrative capabilities are matched to the
tasks to be executed within specified durations. The management also selects the projects that are
most likely to be achieved and contribute to the attaining of set goals and profits; in line with the
organization s short and long term strategies. All organizations have competing projects since

Why the Versailles Treaty Failed to Bring Peace and Stability
Why the Versailles Treaty failed to bring peace and stability On June 28th 1919, the Big Three ,
Georges Clemenceau, Woodrow Wilson, and David Lloyd George, on behalf of Great Britain, the
United States, and France, had formulated a peace treaty called Versailles Treaty to end the four
year long First Word War, establishing the famous Versailles System . The purpose of the system is
to build a peaceful world dominated by the victor countries, such as Great Britain, the United States
and France. Therefore, the treaty harshly punished the losing countries, like Germany, Austria, and
Hungary, making them decline in power. Every country participated in the Paris Conference with
its own goals, and all countries, especially the three biggest... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Actually, the decline in power never means the decline in conflict. Suppression and punishment,
without education, can never make a country give up the use of violent in a long time. At the
same time, the pricey compensation aggravates the economic crisis during the Depression period
in those defeated countries, because their economic powers were weaken by the pricey bill. That
s the partly reason why some losing countries, especially German, accepted Fascism, since their
economy and industrial sector experienced economic depression in those years, and their
governments were too weak to stand against the expansion of Fascism. By contraries, countries
with powerful economic resources, like America, protected their democracy and government,
getting rid of dictatorship and Fascism. In the second place, the Versailles Treaty was only a result
of compromise for those victor countries, leaving none of them fully satisfied about the new world
order set by the treaty. The bad negotiation also led to the Appeasement Policy, which indulged the
military expansion of German. It is easily understand the losing countries felt dissatisfied about the
treaty for they are unfairly punished. However, why those victor countries also didn t support the
system in many parts? To answer this question, people need to have a basic knowledge about what
are they want to achieve in the conference. Actually, each country had their own unique perspective
of the war, and as

Potassium, Discovered By Sir Humphry Davy
Potassium, discovered by Sir Humphry Davy, is a very unique element. Potassium gets its name
from its main source, potash salt. Potassium is number 19 on the periodic table, with the letter K
as its chemical symbol. The K comes from the latin word kalium meaning potash. Potassium has
19 protons, 20 neutrons, and 19 electrons. Its atomic number is 19, because it has 19 protons,
and its atomic mass is 39.0983. Potassium is a metal, categorized underneath the group alkali
metals, this means it is a soft silvery metal. Potassium was discovered in 1807, in england. It was
discovered by Sir Humphry Davy, who was a chemist and an inventor. He discovered it through a
process called electrolysis. Potassium was the first element discovered in

A Critical Assessment Of The White Paper On European...
1. Introduction
Around the turn of the millennium political leaders around Europe were challenged by two
antithetical developments within their societies. On one side, the European citizens rely on them to
handle and solve the major contemporary political issues (e.g. unemployment, peace and
safekeeping). On the other side, increasing distrust and indifference concerning politicians, politics
and institutions (on the national and European level) leads to a growing legitimacy issue for the
European Union and its institutions. As a result the incumbent president of the Commission of the
European Communities, Romano Prodi, announced promoting new forms of European governance
(Prodi, 2000:4) as a key strategic objective of his Commission from 2000 2005. Consequently, the
European Commission published the White Paper on European Governance in 2001, introducing
steps to a more democratic Union.
The aim of this paper is the critical assessment of the White Paper, thus closely scrutinizing the
principles of good governance and the given proposals for change. The paper will start with a
short section on problem analysis, followed by the critical engagement with the principles of good
governance and the proposals for change as proposed in the White Paper. Then, this paper will, very
briefly, shed light on the outcome and culminate to the conclusion a statement for discussion.
2. Problem Analysis: Why European Governance needed reform
The European integration process was ignited

Blocking Gmo s A Crime Against Humanity
Blocking GMO s A Crime Against Humanity One of the most controversial topics of our time is
GM technology (GMO). Is it safe or not? The emotive nature of this topic is justified considering
the fact that food is paramount to human well being; all claims should be carefully examined.
However, modern scientific studies contradict commonly held opinions opposing GMO s which
are in fact founded on myths and misinformation. There are currently 2000 peer reviewed reports
which document the safety and wholesomeness of GM foods. (Genera.2014) My goal in this
paper is to help open dialogs between activists and the scientific community. Green activists and
privileged world citizens deny life and health to millions when they block the progress and use
of genetic modification. To achieve this goal, I have organized my paper into four sections and
two sub sections. I will begin with and brief description and summary of GMO s and the
scientific consensus on the safety and efficacy of this technology, public opinion that contradicts
the science community and the origins of misinformation. Next I will talk about why GMO s are
a major component in solving food insecurity, death, sickness and poverty. In the third section of
this paper involves the efforts of green campaigners who undermine science and block GMO
technology. To conclude, I will provide examples of the reality of food insecurity worldwide and
highlight one significant area to focus resolution efforts, Golden Rice. I

Research Paper On Trail Of Tears
Research paper:Trail of Tears
The Trail of tears is something that very well embodies the injustices that native americans have
long faced in our country. They have often been treated as less than or as though they are not
worthy of the same rights that many. We have systematically pushed under the proverbial rug
the injustices that this people group has faced for many generations. It is not hard to see what
these injustices are if you just take a moment to take a deeper look at the history of a people rich
with culture and often times despair. The goal of this paper is to take the reader on a journey to
see one of the most horrible and unfair things that a group of people has ever faced. It was in
1838 and 1839 that this tragedy would occur. Not because it was necessary or because there was
some overwhelming reason that it needed to happen, but because a president by the name of
Andrew Jackson thought that this was the most sensible way to go about it. Now i have
intentionally forgone telling you what is being spoken about so far as to set the scene. It is
inevitable that once the exact circumstances of what happened that there will be heartbroken over
the tragedy that thousands of Native americans who were members of the cherokee nation faced.

Allegorical Garden of Eden in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight
Green helmet. Green body. Green blood. Such descriptions refer to a central character in Sir
Gawain and the Green Knight they depict the appearance of Bercilak as the Green Knight. The use
of green is a reflection of Garden of Eden imagery in the poem that portrays the Green Knight as a
tempter, a serpent, in the garden, Arthur s court. In Genesis account of Eden, Adam and Eve live in
a perfect, pure garden until the evil, green serpent successfully tempts them. When the serpent tells
Eve that consuming fruit from the forbidden tree the one God warned them not to eat from will
result in the same knowledge God holds, Eve convinces Adam to eat the apple. According to...

depicts a worldly paradise with knights who act as they desire, as Adam and Eve were allowed to in
Genesis. However, Gawain s garden in not without sin.
The existence of sin is evident in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. The sin in Gawain s garden
results from chivalry. The code of knighthood Gawain and other knights follow includes courage
and loyalty to one s lord. This courage and loyalty carries with it a sense of pride for the knights,
pride that causes them to sin. Thus, Gawain fails to follow a life of purity, for as he follows the code
of knighthood, he participates in Christian sin murder, drunkenness, pride. For instance, when
the Green Knight gives an offer to Arthur s court to play the beheading game, he initially
receives no volunteers. However, as Arthur attempts to participate, Gawain steps up and takes
his place, for it is his role to be loyal and fight for his lord. This is evident when he states, My
body, but for your [Arthur] blood, is barren of worth; / And for that this folly befits not a king,
/ And tis that I have asked it, it ought to be mine ( 357 359). This, then, leads him to sin, to chop
off another man s head.
Sin is evident even before the Green Knight s entrance the knights succumb to physical pleasures

The Feasibility of Prolonged Space Travel
The Feasibility of Prolonged Space Travel My scientifically accurate sci fi paper will focus on
long term space travel on a future mission to a distant exoplanet, such as the recently discovered
Kepler 186f, that is thought to be habitable for human life and later colonization. The astronauts
travelling to the exoplanet will have to deal with the effects of space travel such as radiation on
their bodies, both physically and psychologically. The goal of the mission will be to scope out the
environment of the exoplanet to either confirm or deny the existence of life on the exoplanet as
well as to evaluate in person whether or not it is habitable for humanlife. There will be obstacles
such as asteroids in the path to the exoplanet that the astronauts will have to overcome using
their scientific knowledge of space travel and propulsion. In addition to these obstacles will be
issues related to fuel and food supply, making the journey even more hazardous and causing the
astronauts to think critically in order for the mission to be a success, especially if they plan to
attempt to make a return trip. World renowned physicist Stephen Hawking believes that in order
for the human race to survive, it must look to space for a new place to live [1]. He believes that
the earth is too fragile to rely on and that if humans limit themselves solely to this one planet, the
future existence of humanity may be in jeopardy. Many scientists, such as NASAAdministrator

Is the term green logistics an oxymoron Essay
Is the Term Green Logistics an Oxymoron
Introduction
Over recent years there has been increasingly more pressure from the public and the government on
organisations to decrease the environmental impact of their logistics operations. The distribution of
products impairs air quailty, produces noise and vibration, causes motor vechicle accidents and
contributes significantly to global warming through greenhouse gas emmisions. The term green
logistics describes attempts by organisations to minimise the environmental impact of logistic
activities (Rodrigue, Slack and Comtois, 2001). Therefore, green logistics would imply
environmentally friendly and efficient transportation and distribution systems. The paradoxes of
green logistics make it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows that green logistics can be achieved through the green procurement of environmentally
friendly vehicles as well as working with suppliers to improve their sustainability performance.
Reverse Logistics
Logisticians can also achieve green logistics through reverse logistics operations which is
designed to reuse products or dispose of them correctly, therefore reducing waste in the system.
Rogers and Tibben Lembke, (2001, p.130) define reverse logistics as the process of planning,
implementing, and controlling the efficient, cost effective flow of materials, in process inventory
and finished goods, and related information from the point of consumption to the point of origin,
the purpose of recapturing value or proper disposal . Efforts that reduce this reverse flow are
considered part of reverse logistics as they reduced the total amount of waste in the supply chain.
Reverse logistics approaches include returns management, product repair/refurbishment, recycling
of products and materials as well as the correct disposal of unwanted products. Figure 1 illustrates
the product flow in reverse logistics and the principles of reverse logistics i.e. substitute, reduce,
recycle and reuse (Wu and Dunn, 1995). All these reverse logistic approaches diminish the total
quantity of waste in the supply chain and therefore can be used by logisticians in order to achieve
green logistics.

Historical Cultural Context On The City Of Corinth
INTRODUCTION
1 Corinthians 1:18 25, in many ways offers a measuring stick for what true wisdom and power
is, according to Scripture. While the believers in Corinth are looking for, and claiming to have,
true wisdom and power, Paul addresses the issue and makes it clear that true wisdom and power
are found in Christ and in the message of the cross. In no uncertain terms, Paul states that the
wisdom of the world is lacking and is unable to save those who are perishing. But, the so called
foolishness of God has the power to save those who believe, and is found only in the cross of Jesus
Christ. While Jews and Greeks alike are searching for that which saves, Paul makes it clear that
salvation is not found in the wisdom and power of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of its beneficial geographical location, Corinth was extremely prosperous, and that
financial prosperity led to ever increasing moral corruption. While most Greco Roman cities were
marked with immorality, Corinth seemed to rise above the rest in this particular area. Even by the
pagan standards of its own culture, Corinth became so morally corrupt that its very name became
synonymous with debauchery and moral depravity.
LITERARY CONTEXT The first letter to the Corinthians as a whole alternates between
responses to reports and answers to questions from the church, and 1 Corinthians 1:18 25 is
found in the beginning of Paul s first response to reports dealing with factions and divisions
within the body of believers. The previous section of the letter is the introduction and Paul s note
of thanks for the Corinthian believers. There is a distinct note of commendation and love in the
first section before Paul begins to condemn and exhort the Corinthians for their poor behavior.
Much of this behavior is linked to their boasting about their wisdom, or the wisdom of those
whom they choose to follow. Therefore, much of Paul s teaching is in relation to true wisdom, as
opposed to worldly wisdom. Paul continues to address the issue of factions in the church by further
concentrating on the issue of wisdom, before he begins approaching other issues from the report in
chapters 5 and 6. Following this, Paul begins to address the questions posed by the

Calendars, Party Goods, and Specialty Gifts. Their core business comes from their customers in

Secondly, the difference between actual and estimated returns is less than 5%, (FASB ASC 250 10

permissible. Lastly, the estimated cost of keeping detailed records for each product line of each
division may outweigh the benefits of accurate rates of returns. Option #2:Trademark, Inc., after
responding to complaints and the high rate of returns, relationships with customers increased and
they received less returns. Trademark, Inc. s ability to make a reasonable estimate of future returns
was impaired because they altered their shipping method, but did not change how they estimated for
the return of damaged goods. According to FASB ASC 605 15 25 3, the ability to make a

The Tortilla Curtain Analysis
In The Tortilla Curtain, T.C. Boyle strives to show the economic and social divide between
illegal immigrants and middle class American citizens. He does this by showing Candido
Rincon, an immigrant from Tepoztlan, Mexico, crossing paths multiple times with Delaney
Mossbacher, a white middle class American living in the complex of Arroyo Blanco. Delaney, a
self proclaimed Democrat, over his interactions with Candido and other Hispanics, deviates from
his liberal views and descends into overt racism. Likewise, Candido has the intentions that mirror
his name the name Candido comes from the latin word candidus, a, um which has a connotation
of pureness but as he gets more and more desperate, he diverges from his honest work and
resorts to stealing and scavenging. Candido s and Delaney s actions display each s descent into
savagery. The coyote, a traditional symbol of savagery, applies to both Candido and Delaney.
Delaney writes an entire entrance into his nature blog Pilgrim at Topanga Creek regarding the
coyotes: yet I can t help thinking too of the missing pets, the trail of suspicion, the next baby left
unattended on the patio. The coyotes keep coming, breeding up to fill in the gaps, moving in
where the living is easy. They are cunning, versatile, hungry and unstoppable (215). The coyote
described is clearly a symbol for illegal immigrants, and, more specifically, Candido. Each phrase is
a specific reference to a dynamic or event of the story: the trail

Bacon s Rebellion
There are many things that shaped the experience of enslaved people. One of the main forces
that caused slavery to be so common was the simple fact that there were no laws to control or
prohibit slavery. For many farms and industries, having slaves was very profitable because once
the farm or company was done with the slave, they could resell them. It is also the simple fact
that slaves were free labor. Bacon s Rebellion in 1676 also changed the lives of many enslaved
people. Bacon had promised freedom to anyone who joined his army. However, this promise was
short lived. In ore to avoid anymore outbursts or rebellions of the former slaves, the Virginia
authorities pushed the slaves whom would never again be free to the tobacco fields and

You can t blame gravity for falling in love. This quote from Albert Einstein raises importance to the
universal theme of true love. This theme can be seen in the Italian story Poor Fish, where the main
character had low self esteem. Later in the story, he met a girl named Ida and started gaining more
confidence in himself. Another story that demonstrates true loveis the Chinese The Tall Woman
and Her Short Husband. This story revolves around the lives of a married couple in which the
woman is taller than her spouse. In the story, no one believes that they are in love and they start
suspecting that Mrs. Tall only married for wealth. However, in light of the tragedies that happen,
true love is exemplified in the end. These stories demonstrate... Show more content on

The main character in Poor Fish is has a very low self esteem in the beginning, but after meeting
a woman named Ida his confidence started growing to new levels. Moravia uses inferiority to
describe his individulaity in the story; People never know very much about who they are, nor
about who is inferior to them and who superior. As for me, I went too far in the direction of
thinking myself inferior to everybody (Moravia). The main character soon becomes too over
confident in himself, and this also alters how other people see him. The Whitley Abbey School
District describes the individuality of the main characters in The Tall Woman and Her Short
Husband, [Mrs. Tall] seems to be the opposite of her husband in every respect; tall where he is
short, thin where he is fat, dull where he is bright. The author does this to show that, although they
don t seem suited at all, their genuine love for each other makes physical differences irrelevant
(Whitley Abbey School District). All these physical and emotional differences contribute to their
own uniqueness. They also go on to describe that this is, at heart, a love story, describing a couple
who stick together through thick and thin, who society has made outcasts but who have found
belonging with each other. The two forget about usual conventions in order to best suit

The Electoral College Is Outdated And Undemocratic
The Electoral College is Outdated and Undemocratic
Many people hail the Electoral College as democratic, but the 2016 Presidential Election was
anything except democratic. The highly scrutinized leader, Donald J. Trump, won a majority of the
Electoral College, sealing his place as the Forty Fifth President of the United States, but did not
receive the majority vote, as the popular vote went to Hillary Clinton. The results of previous
elections have not reflected the people s opinions, and it disenfranchised numerous Americans.
Outlined in the United States Constitution, the Electoral College reflects the needs of an eighteenth
century society (Amar, 2016). Because the Electoral College does not meet a twenty first century
society s needs, it should be replaced by a national popular vote where voter registration is based on
a test regarding United States government basic knowledge. The Electoral College was created in
the late eighteenth century with its complex process outlined in the United States Constitution;
more specifically, the Twelfth Amendment. 538 electors comprise the system, and to win the
presidency, a candidate must obtain 270 votes. In the event no candidate receives the required
votes, the election redirects to the House of Representatives where they vote on the three candidates
who received the largest sum of votes (Parker, 2016). Consequently, the popular vote does not
influence the election s outcome; previous presidents have not won the popular vote.

Chinese Rejection Movement
From the 1850s, political agitation and financial weights at home provoked many Chinese settlers
to move toward the western areas of the United States looking for transitory work. Many took low
paid employments as unskilled workers in mining, development, horticulture, assembling, or
administration ventures. The 1890 decennial census reports a Chinese conceived inhabitant
populace surpassing 100,000; records demonstrate that almost 300,000 Chinese workers entered the
United Statesin the vicinity of 1850 and 1889, however antiquarians evaluate that the same number
of as half at last came back to China. This influx of Chinese movement was joined by developing
hostility to Chinese Migrants causing ethnic segregation, in the U.S. Congress passed the Chinese

Chinese inhabitants from getting U.S. citizenship. In spite of the fact that the law was canceled in

Human Enhancement Qualify As Therapy
Birds eye vision, ant like strength, Einstein level intelligence, and the ability to live to 1,000 years
are all possible changes to humanity in the near future. Humans have been enhancing themselves all
over the world for many centuries, and the advancement of nanotechnologies is not slowing that
down. These modifications already take place in the form of ancient Olympians eating mushrooms
before events, Renaissance women wearing corsets to slim their waists, and modern athletes using
steroids for muscle development . Enhancing ourselves through education, caffeine, herbal
medications, meditation, and exercise are non technological approaches that are not morally

Here are two fictional scenarios: In the both cases, an individual must have a leg amputated as a
result of a bad car accident. In the first case, this individual is given a robotic leg so that they are
able to walk again. The only function the leg serves is for normal bipedal locomotion. In the
second case, this robotic leg has the ability to propel the individual to speeds of 45 miles per hour.
They are reaching tops speeds twice as fast of the Olympic runner, Usain Bolt. Most would argue
that the first case is not enhancement because it is returning the person back to original function, but
the second leg gives the individual an ability that cannot be accomplished through natural methods.
The line between operations, drugs, and implants that are seen as therapeutic versus those that are
seen as enhancement is still not well defined. Even with the line clearly defined, some take the
position that adding technology to our bodies violates what it means to be human. Stating that we
will slowly become reliant on these internal devices to the point of no returning to our natural
states. The U.N. considers any type of species altering to be a crime against humanity . Cyborgs
sound like something only seen in science fiction, but addressing whether or not they are human is
becoming a relevant issue. While being human is a subjective phrase, natural is defined by Meriam
Webster as existing in or caused by nature; not made or caused by humankind . So whether or not

Snow House Descriptive Writing
My eyes flutter open lazily, as my slumber is interrupted by bright light, streaming through the
window. Slowly I swing my legs over the edge of my bed, toes searching for the soft carpet.
Standing on weary legs, I peer through the window to find a crisp white layer covering the grass.
The sun is gleaming brightly onto the newly fallen snow, causing a nearly blinding shimmer.
Heading toward the stairs my nose detects the sweet scent of a fresh batch of cinnamon rolls. My
sluggish steps become lively as I bound down the stairs into the aromatic kitchen. Studying the
kitchen my eyes rest on the clock which reads 8:30. Guess what honey! It s a snow day! My mother

My mom takes a soft pink hat and tugs it snugly onto my head, over my ears. She hands me my

Finally we open the oak door and step foot into the first snow of the year. The frigid air hits my

Zen Meditation Techniques
Meditation Techniques Simple Zen Meditation
Using a simple Zen meditation, you will learn the art of stillness. Zen is all about stillness. Zen
monks have been known to simply sit still and let the knowledge come through.
Preparing For The Simple
Usually sitting is done in the full lotus position, however this posture is quite difficult to learn
unless you have practice for quite a while.
So if you are not comfortable using the lotus position, you can also use the chair position as the
posture mentioned in the zen meditation with the back straight and the body slightly brought
forward.
First make sure that you are sitting comfortable yet errect on the chair (or in the lotus or semi lotus
position). Next, make sure that your mouth is closed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At some point you might notice that you have forgotten to count. Don t worry too much about it,

soon see that your body is doing the counting automatically.
Keep counting up to 10 for about 20 minutes. Put the alarm in advance if you are not sure where
the time is up.
Keep doing this simple zen meditation every day for 20 minutes by simply sitting in your
comfortable position, looking at one of your hands, starting to feel that side of your body from the
feet upwards and then starting to count.
Each alternate day start with the other side of your body. If today you have started with the left,
tomorrow start the meditation while focusing on the right hand and feeling your right side.
After one or two weeks, when you feel that you are counting automatically, without having to focus
on counting at all, stop counting. Now simply focus on your breathing in and out without counting.
Once you get used to this new technique as well, stop focusing on your breathing altogether.
Simply breath in and out, just the way you do it naturally, by your birthright. All you will do now
is sit still in a silent physical, mental and emotional

F. Scott Fitzgerald s masterpiece, The Great Gatsby, follows the story of Jay Gatsby, a man who
personifies the American Dream. The narrator of the novel is Gatsby s neighbor, Nick
Carraway, who is connected with all the main characters and has the ability to see the good in
Gatsby. Through the focus of Nick, a man with a fairly nondescript background, a story of
corruption, illusion and desperate desire unfolds. The story takes place in the roaring twenties, a
time that emphasizes the dichotomy of society, with the previously rich and the newly rich living
a life of jubilance, while those in the valley of ashes or other areas of the like slave away their ...

Throughout the novel, Fitzgerald manages to draw the attention of the reader to miniscule details
and symbols in the text. He uses colors to communicate to the reader feelings and attitudes of the
protagonists. Color symbolism, in many ways, plays a large role in the novel. It is the most
powerful method of granting the reader insight into the personality of a character; it reveals the
hidden ideas and values. The style of symbolism that is most riddled throughout the text is the
attachment of ideas to colors. Some of the color based symbols used are vague, while some are
specific. The colors most prominently represented are the hope and purity of white, the optimism
of green, the wealth of gold and the faux wealth of yellow. In The Great Gatsby, the color white
stands for unblemished, honorable, and pure perfection. When Nick is moving in, one of the
first things he happens to notice is how Across the courtesy the white palaces of fashionable

lifestyle that is merely an aspiration at best. Perfection shines from across the bay, in the area
where the born rich live. It is the area that you cannot work your way into, no matter how hard you

Pride And Prejudice Narrative Analysis
Jane Austen was and still is a very accomplished writer from the nineteenth century. The question I
am going to answer asks about Austen s narrative techniques and how they contribute to the
overall meaning of the novel. Pride and Prejudice is written at a time of contemporary historical
change in the world and yet Austen writes a novel where the main man changes his manners and a
young lady changes her mind. (Tanner 103). I am going to focus on her extensive archive of
narrative techniques specifically in chapter one of her novel, Pride and Prejudice, to show these
changes. Throughout the novel Austen uses third person narrative, omniscient narration, a dramatic

AFL Is Crucial To Student Learning
AFL is crucial to student learning and teacher achievement due to its many benefits. When

teaching and learning processes to the teachers and students, helping students to become more
responsible towards their own learningand developing self reflective skills in students are just a few

Therefore teachers knowledge, skills and competencies in classroom assessment practices are very
important (Koloi Keaikitse, 2012). As teachers play a major role in student achievements and
preparing them for future, it is essential for them to understand how to assess and evaluate students
learning outcomes (Koloi Keaikitse, 2012). For this reason, Reynolds, Livingston, Willson, (2009);
McMillan, (2008); Nitko, (2001) maintain the common argument that because AFL plays a vital
role in teaching and learning related activities teachers should master basic assessment
competencies. Without this ability the type of assessment will be useless for the future learning of
the students. For example, most common type of assessment provided in the classrooms are pen
and paper tests taken at the end of a unit, the result from this is never used to improved student
learning as teachers perceive the topic as completed and done with. Vandeyar and Killen (2003)
argued that regardless of educational setting, high quality assessment practices should satisfy
essential principles such as validity, reliability, fairness, discrimination, and meaningfulness. For
Vandeyar and Killen (2003), if teachers have a clear understanding of these principles; they can
have an informed framework of using assessment results to make better informed decisions from
assessment results. When teachers misunderstand these principles, their assessment practices are
more likely to generate worthless information and this might hinder them applying various
classroom assessment strategies and form to assess and evaluate the students. Therefore in order
to be more competent and knowledgeable in AFL; teachers are in need of professional
development in order to foster effective AFL in in their classrooms. In addition, another factor that
will increase an awareness of classroom assessment

The Civil War And American History
In American History many significant events took place that reflected religious faith of multiple
Americans and has shaped the world we live in today. Throughout the 1800s, the most
memorable times in America took place throughout the Civil War. Events that escalated before,
during and even following the Civil War resulted in a chain of reactions from many people
within that period. After analyzing the events of the Civil War, I was able to draw a connection
to the actions of the soldiers, women and Black Americans and how they were consistent with
Christian faith. Prior to emphasizing how Americans were consistent with Christian faith, first it
is vital to know a little background information on that particular period. The Civil War was seen
as a traumatic period. According to the text, the Civil War was the bloodiest in American
History that ended with 618,000 killed. There are various arguments between the true causes of
the war. Despite the arguments that claim slavery was not the cause, slavery did however play a
major factor in each argument presented. Therefore, Slavery can be considered the major cause
of war, and an issue that grew over the years. According to Degler, slavery was clearly important
as a moral issue, but also as an economic institution that divided two different, and in many ways
antagonistic, societies (Degler, 2011). The division of two societies, North and South, is what lead
the war itself. The Civil War consisted of battles between the

Cultural Conflict In America By Hunte Hunter
In the assigned reading, Cultural Conflict in America, the author states that the cultural war in
America is just social issues that Americans disagree on. In some ways I can agree with him, but
our values represent the culture we were raised by. People are going to disagree on many hard
topics and that is what makes the individual person unique. As Hunter states, many of our
cultural disagreements can stem from the religion we practice. He gives us many examples on
this topic, but I did not like how all of them were from thirty or more years ago. I feel that does
not represent the modern America today. America has coined the term melting pot since a long
time ago, but many people are now calling it a salad bowl because the cultures simply do not mix
anymore. I have seen cultural disagreements in my class before, but I also noticed how open to
new views people were. Yes, they had a disagreement about the topic at hand, however using the
term war would make it a bit over dramatized. The students in my class were able to respectfully
debate and discuss their personal views and beliefs.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

we decided it was better to stop and contemplate each stage in order to maximise points. As the
simulation was a highly structured task this made the concept of an individual leading and
managing the team ultimately redundant. Each group member contributed towards being team

Ethical Issues Regarding Acute Kidney Injury
Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a fatal kidney disorder typically caused by renal ischemia, a
condition in which the kidneys do not receive enough blood. This syndrome is fatal and new
therapeutic strategies are needed to treat patients who have this syndrome. When the kidney goes
through acute injury, some regeneration occurs. replacing the damaged kidney cells and renal
progenitor cells (RPC) are a key player in kidney repair, however, they are very rare. Another
method which can be used for regeneration are stem cells. Stem cells are cells with no specific

This type of stem cell has been made from normal cells but have been changed in the laboratory to

Mental Health Act Analysis
The first piece of legislation which supported individual with mental health was the Mad House
Act (1774). This piece of legislation was ineffective as it resulted in negative outcomes for
individuals with mental and physical disabilities, as they were treated in an undignified way in
cramped and unsubstantial conditions being viewed by the public for a penny. However, the
Lunacy Act (1845 1930) was a more positive outcome, making it a legal requirement for county
owned asylum to be inspected and had to have licenses for best practice and to promote the rights
of the patients within and outside the facility, although, this was not the case in some facilities
where failure and low morale caused negative impacts to the patients treatments (Lester, 2010).
Furthermore, in the 1900 s the Mental Deficiency Health Act came into implementation in (1913
1938) where children and vulnerable adults would have been placed institutional settings, until the
amendment to the Mental Health Act (1959). This act abolished the categories of legal distinction
of mental health and prevented those who did not need to go for example, a mother who is unwed

Death and the Maiden
The Polanski film Death and the Maiden is a wonderful and intelligent interpretation of Ariel
Dorfman s human rights problem play. Polanski has produced, in this film, an exceptional piece of
direction, in which his own personal, emotional input is evident. The main theme of the play is an
extremely personal one for both playwright (and scriptwriter) and director. Both Dorfman and
Polanski have had to face and flee the horrors of dictatorship and human rightsviolations: Dorfman

Weaver s powerful acting conveys the unmistakable tension associated with an incredible amount of
suppressed anger. It is not until the following scenes, when she is finally confronted with the cause

In the surreal, dim lighting of her bedroom Paulina is shaken by a strangely disturbing laugh
upon recognising Roberto Miranda s voice as that of her tormentor. This moment sees the birth or

about doing to her torturers what they had done to her. This is the unbelievably unreasonable

Impacts of Deforestation
Deforestation is the clearing of wide areas of forests for the purpose of using the land or the
resources in the area. Two highly demanding products that are causing deforestation around the

main income is through exporting agricultural products. Therefore, as demand increases countries
will do whatever they need to do to meet the demand. Often, corners are cut, and there are many
negative consequences. Palm oil is an ingredient that is found in many consumer products that are
on the market. Companies should be held responsible for where the ingredients of their products
come from and should be held accountable to source products such as palm oil in a sustainable
way which does not contribute to deforestation (Larsson). Many areas are currently cutting down
trees in order to convert the land into palm oil plantations. One example would be in the Borneo
rainforest. Naomi

Why the Versailles Treaty Failed to Bring Peace and Stability Why the Versailles Treaty failed to bring peace and stability On June 28th 1919, the Big Three , Georges Clemenceau, Woodrow Wilson, and David Lloyd George, on behalf of Great Britain, the United States, and France, had formulated a peace treaty called Versailles Treaty to end the four year long First Word War, establishing the famous Versailles System . The purpose of the system is to build a peaceful world dominated by the victor countries, such as Great Britain, the United States and France. Therefore, the treaty harshly punished the losing countries, like Germany, Austria, and Hungary, making them decline in power. At the same time, the pricey compensation aggravates the economic crisis during the Depression period in those defeated countries, because their economic powers were weaken by the pricey bill. That s the partly reason why some losing countries, especially German, accepted Fascism, since their economy and industrial sector experienced economic depression in those years, and their governments were too weak to stand against the expansion of Fascism. By contraries, countries with powerful economic resources, like America, protected their democracy and government, getting rid of dictatorship and Fascism. In the second place, the Versailles Treaty was only a result of compromise for those victor countries, leaving none of them fully satisfied about the new world order set by the treaty. The bad negotiation also led to the Appeasement Policy, which indulged the military expansion of German. It is easily understand the losing countries felt dissatisfied about the treaty for they are unfairly punished. However, why those victor countries also didn t support the system in many parts? Introduction Around the turn of the millennium political leaders around Europe were challenged by two antithetical developments within their societies. On one side, the European citizens rely on them to handle and solve the major contemporary political issues (e.g. unemployment, peace and safekeeping). On the other side, increasing distrust and indifference concerning politicians, politics and institutions (on the national and European level) leads to a growing legitimacy issue for the European Union and its institutions. As a result the incumbent president of the Commission of the European Communities, Romano Prodi, announced promoting new forms of European governance (Prodi, 2000:4) as a key strategic objective of his Commission from 2000 2005. Consequently, the European Commission published the White Paper on European Governance in 2001, introducing steps to a more democratic Union. The aim of this paper is the critical assessment of the White Paper, thus closely scrutinizing the principles of good governance and the given proposals for change. The paper will start with a short section on problem analysis, followed by the critical engagement with the principles of good governance and the proposals for change as proposed in the White Paper. The emotive nature of this topic is justified considering the fact that food is paramount to human well being; all claims should be carefully examined. However, modern scientific studies contradict commonly held opinions opposing GMO s which are in fact founded on myths and misinformation. There are currently 2000 peer reviewed reports which document the safety and wholesomeness of GM foods. (Genera.2014) My goal in this paper is to help open dialogs between activists and the scientific community. Green activists and privileged world citizens deny life and health to millions when they block the progress and use of genetic modification. To achieve this goal, I have organized my paper into four sections and two sub sections. I will begin with and brief description and summary of GMO s and the scientific consensus on the safety and efficacy of this technology, public opinion that contradicts the science community and the origins of misinformation. Next I will talk about why GMO s are a major component in solving food insecurity, death, sickness and poverty. In the third section of this paper involves the efforts of green campaigners who undermine science and block GMO technology. To conclude, I will provide examples of the reality of food insecurity worldwide and highlight one significant area to focus resolution efforts, Golden Rice. I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The code of knighthood Gawain and other knights follow includes courage and loyalty to one s lord. The Feasibility of Prolonged Space Travel The Feasibility of Prolonged Space Travel My scientifically accurate sci fi paper will focus on long term space travel on a future mission to a distant exoplanet, such as the recently discovered Kepler 186f, that is thought to be habitable for human life and later colonization. The astronauts travelling to the exoplanet will have to deal with the effects of space travel such as radiation on their bodies, both physically and psychologically. The goal of the mission will be to scope out the environment of the exoplanet to either confirm or deny the existence of life on the exoplanet as well as to evaluate in person whether or not it is habitable for humanlife. There will be obstacles such as asteroids in the path to the exoplanet that the astronauts will have to overcome using their scientific knowledge of space travel and propulsion. In addition to these obstacles will be issues related to fuel and food supply, making the journey even more hazardous and causing the astronauts to think critically in order for the mission to be a success, especially if they plan to attempt to make a return trip. The distribution of products impairs air quailty, produces noise and vibration, causes motor vechicle accidents and contributes significantly to global warming through greenhouse gas emmisions. The term green logistics describes attempts by organisations to minimise the environmental impact of logistic activities (Rodrigue, Slack and Comtois, 2001). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This shows that green logistics can be achieved through the green procurement of environmentally friendly vehicles as well as working with suppliers to improve their sustainability performance. Reverse Logistics Logisticians can also achieve green logistics through reverse logistics operations which is designed to reuse products or dispose of them correctly, therefore reducing waste in the system. Rogers and Tibben Lembke, (2001, p.130) define reverse logistics as the process of planning, implementing, and controlling the efficient, cost effective flow of materials, in process inventory and finished goods, and related information from the point of consumption to the point of origin, the purpose of recapturing value or proper disposal . Efforts that reduce this reverse flow are considered part of reverse logistics as they reduced the total amount of waste in the supply chain. Reverse logistics approaches include returns management, product repair/refurbishment, recycling of products and materials as well as the correct disposal of unwanted products. Figure 1 illustrates the product flow in reverse logistics and the principles of reverse logistics i.e. substitute, reduce, recycle and reuse (Wu and Dunn, 1995). All these reverse logistic approaches diminish the total quantity of waste in the supply chain and therefore can be used by logisticians in order to achieve green logistics. While the believers in Corinth are looking for, and claiming to have, true wisdom and power, Paul addresses the issue and makes it clear that true wisdom and power are found in Christ and in the message of the cross. In no uncertain terms, Paul states that the wisdom of the world is lacking and is unable to save those who are perishing. LITERARY CONTEXT The first letter to the Corinthians as a whole alternates between responses to reports and answers to questions from the church, and 1 Corinthians 1:18 25 is found in the beginning of Paul s first response to reports dealing with factions and divisions within the body of believers. The previous section of the letter is the introduction and Paul s note of thanks for the Corinthian believers. There is a distinct note of commendation and love in the first section before Paul begins to condemn and exhort the Corinthians for their poor behavior. Much of this behavior is linked to their boasting about their wisdom, or the wisdom of those whom they choose to follow. Therefore, much of Paul s teaching is in relation to true wisdom, as opposed to worldly wisdom. Paul continues to address the issue of factions in the church by further concentrating on the issue of wisdom, before he begins approaching other issues from the report in chapters 5 and 6. The line between operations, drugs, and implants that are seen as therapeutic versus those that are seen as enhancement is still not well defined. Even with the line clearly defined, some take the position that adding technology to our bodies violates what it means to be human. Stating that we will slowly become reliant on these internal devices to the point of no returning to our natural states. The U.N. considers any type of species altering to be a crime against humanity . The sun is gleaming brightly onto the newly fallen snow, causing a nearly blinding shimmer. Heading toward the stairs my nose detects the sweet scent of a fresh batch of cinnamon rolls. My sluggish steps become lively as I bound down the stairs into the aromatic kitchen. Studying the kitchen my eyes rest on the clock which reads 8:30. Guess what honey! It s a snow day! He uses colors to communicate to the reader feelings and attitudes of the protagonists. Color symbolism, in many ways, plays a large role in the novel. It is the most powerful method of granting the reader insight into the personality of a character; it reveals the hidden ideas and values. The style of symbolism that is most riddled throughout the text is the attachment of ideas to colors. Some of the color based symbols used are vague, while some are specific. The colors most prominently represented are the hope and purity of white, the optimism of green, the wealth of gold and the faux wealth of yellow. As teachers play a major role in student achievements and preparing them for future, it is essential for them to understand how to assess and evaluate students learning outcomes (Koloi Keaikitse, 2012). For this reason, Reynolds, Livingston, Willson, (2009); McMillan, (2008); Nitko, (2001) maintain the common argument that because AFL plays a vital role in teaching and learning related activities teachers should master basic assessment competencies. Without this ability the type of assessment will be useless for the future learning of the students. For example, most common type of assessment provided in the classrooms are pen and paper tests taken at the end of a unit, the result from this is never used to improved student learning as teachers perceive the topic as completed and done with. Vandeyar and Killen (2003) argued that regardless of educational setting, high quality assessment practices should satisfy essential principles such as validity, reliability, fairness, discrimination, and meaningfulness. For Vandeyar and Killen (2003), if teachers have a clear understanding of these principles; they can have an informed framework of using assessment results to make better informed decisions from assessment results. When teachers misunderstand these principles, their assessment practices are more likely to generate worthless information and this might hinder them applying various classroom assessment strategies and form to assess and evaluate the students. Throughout the 1800s, the most memorable times in America took place throughout the Civil War. After analyzing the events of the Civil War, I was able to draw a connection to the actions of the soldiers, women and Black Americans and how they were consistent with Christian faith. Prior to emphasizing how Americans were consistent with Christian faith, first it is vital to know a little background information on that particular period. The Civil War was seen as a traumatic period. According to the text, the Civil War was the bloodiest in American History that ended with 618,000 killed. There are various arguments between the true causes of the war. Despite the arguments that claim slavery was not the cause, slavery did however play a major factor in each argument presented. Therefore, Slavery can be considered the major cause of war, and an issue that grew over the years. According to Degler, slavery was clearly important as a moral issue, but also as an economic institution that divided two different, and in many ways antagonistic, societies (Degler, 2011). Two highly demanding products that are causing deforestation around the world are palm oil and cocoa. However, in the process of growing these products trees are removed from the area in order to be converted into palm and cocoa plantations. As a result, many animal habitats are ruined, and an abundance of trees are cut releasing carbon dioxide into the air contributing to climate change.
