The Importance Of Child Care In America
According to the NACCRRA 2014 Child Care in State of Missouri report, thirty eight (38) percent of
all requests for child care to the child care resource and referral programs were for both infant toddler
care and preschool alike. Eighty four (84) percent, up by 11% since 2010, of families are looking for
full time child care with 21% needing before and after care. An incongruity between supply and
demand continues to exit. As families continue to transition from public assistance to work, school,
and job training, the largest obstacle they face is affordable, accessible child care. In 2015, St. Louis
City had 6,037 children who received subsidized childcare assistance and St. Louis County had 8,002

Child Abuse and Neglect In St. Louis City 36% and 27% in St. Louis County of reported physical
abuse were substantiated; reported neglect was substantiated at 48% in St. Louis City and 58% in St.
Louis County; with substantiated sexual abuse in St. Louis City at 28% and 26% in St. Louis County.
Violent Crime The Violent Crime Rate in St. Louis City is up from last year: 18.26 (violent) to 19%,
but overall crimes are down from 81.90 (all) to 78.7% and St. Louis County: violent crimes are up to
3.8%, and all crimes are up to 28.4%. Over the last 10 years, the number of St. Louis violent crime is
higher than the U.S. average. Crimes has continued to sky rocketed post Ferguson Uprising. As of
2016, because of the high crime rate in St. Louis City it continues to be labeled as America s murder
capital surpassing Detroit and Chicago. St. Louis remains ranked 42nd out of the 50 largest metro
areas in the country in economic mobility. That means that it is more difficult for someone here to get
from the bottom of the rungs to the top rungs of the economic ladder than it is just about anywhere.

Viscosity Lab Essay
Viscosity Science Lab
Purpose:
To determine of changing the viscosity will affect the time it takes for a marble to flow through a
liquid.
Hypothesis: If a marble is dropped into dish soap and corn syrup, than I predict that the marble in the
dish soap will travel faster than the marble in the corn syrup because I know that the viscosity of the
corn syrup is thicker than then the viscosity of the dish soap. Also, the particles in the corn syrup are
more compact than those in the dish soap. This makes the marble sink faster in the dish soap than the
corn syrup.
Apparatus: * 2 identical marbles * 250 Graduated Cylinders of 250mL * 250mL of dish soap * 250mL
of corn syrup * 1 timer/stopwatch
Procedure: 1. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is very difficult for large particles to move past each other unlike small, tiny particles, like those in
the dish soap. The particles in the dish soap are very small and can move more freely and quickly. In
the dish soap, the particles are very small and can move past each other easily when compared to the
particles in the corn syrup. Another reason also contributed to the result of this experiment. Attraction.
Some types of particles tend to attract more than others and that is exactly what happened in the corn
syrup. The particles in the corn syrup attracted more than the dish soap. The large particles in the corn
syrup held tightly to each other, that when the marble fell in that it made it hard for the marble to pass
through more than one particle at a time. IN the dish soap, the particles did not attract as much as the
corn syrup which let the marble move easily and quickly through the liquid. The strength of attraction
as well as the particle size is important in determining a fluid s viscosity.
Application:
This viscosity experiment can be used in real life when making sun tan lotion as well as other
cosmetic products. It is important for the lotion to be viscous because the lotion could not be applied
and spread around the body if the cream was not viscous enough to suit its use. It would drip all over
you! It wouldn t dry or stay in one place. Many well known businesses hire highly educated scientists
to calculate the right viscosity level and if it is

Price Escalation and Its Properties
International marketing concepts
International marketing is an exceedingly difficult and challenging activity for a multinational
corporation (MNC) marketer. According to Cateora, Gilly, and Graham (2013), international
marketing is the performance of business activities designed to plan, price, promote, and direct flow of
the companies goods and services to consumers of users in more than one nation for profit (p. 10).
International marketing strategies and its efficiency assists in the expansion of an organization. The

Exports versus goods produced and sold in a foreign country
As indicated in International trade (2013):
International trade opens foreign markets to goods produced in the United States, including billions of
dollars in Caterpillar machines, engines and parts produced by our U.S. employees. In 2007, thanks to
growing demand around the world, Caterpillar s U.S. exports reached $12.7 billion and helped to
provide jobs for tens of thousands of Caterpillar and supplier employees in the United States. (p. 1)
Conversely, Caterpillar does obtain international plants abroad. They have leveraged this opportunity
to gain market share by producing a low cost product with unsurpassed quality. If exporting was their
only option, maintaining competitiveness through a low cost product may not be possible due to their
overseas competition.
As described above, increased tariffs on imported goods drives cost to the product. If the product and
its raw materials are made in the host country, tariffs will be eliminated. However, if a fixed exchange
rate was negotiated and labor in the home country was less expensive than the possible host country
than importation could be further considered. If the cost to produce goods at home and a fixed
exchange rate could drive the home country to export. A fixed exchange rate when it comes to taxation
and when it is applied along with the comparative advantage theory is actually good for importation of
goods.
There are several theories on

Dbq Human Rights Research Paper
Human rights are essential for all people, despite their nationality, gender, ethnic origin, color, or
religion. Everyone is entitled to these rights without being discriminated against. For a long time,
people were being denied these basic rights as they were being abused and tortured for things that they
couldn t control. People were tired of getting caught in the cross fire, they wanted protection, a chance
and the freedom to live. Although there was a lack of human rights before World War II, human rights
have significantly improved over the post war period, and officials are putting forth efforts to ensure
that human rights are protected in modern day society.
Prior to World War II, visions of human rights were gradually increasing, however the world was not

Getting A Dental Implant? 2 Things To Know About The Recovery Process
Have you decided to get a dental implant to permanently fix a missing tooth? If you, you may be
looking forward to having a replacement tooth that looks and feels like a real tooth. Unfortunately, the
implant process doesn t stop when you leave the dentist s office, since there are some key things to
know about recovering from the surgery.
The Length of Recovery
There are many factors that play into how long it will take to recover from dental implant surgery.
This includes how many implants you received and the strength of the jawbone the implant was
placed in. In fact, it can take several months for the implant to fully recover and feel completely
natural. However, most of the recovery process will take place over the first few days after the
procedure. What you do can end up prolonging or shortening your overall recovery time. ... Show

Practice Good Oral Hygiene
The dental implant may be a fake tooth, but it is more important than ever that you practice good oral
hygiene to keep your gums and jawbone protected. Bacteria runs the risk of slowing down your
recovery process, and has the potential to cause an infection in your gums.
All you need to do is floss and brush regularly to remove harmful bacteria that can become stuck
around the implant surgical site. Your dentist may suggest that you use a mouthwash as well, and even
subscribe one that is prescription strength in some situations.
Avoid Pressure
You should avoid any activities that can put excessive pressure on a dental implant and cause damage
while it is healing. For example, you will need to break any habits you have of chewing on ice cubes.
You should be eatings foods that are moderately soft as well. The risk of putting too much pressure on
a dental implant is that the actual implant can become dislodged while in the healing

News Media and the Coverage of Darfur
News Media and the Coverage of Darfur Our news media is as celebrity obsessed as the rest of the
nation. And why shouldn t it be? The articles and television news coverage of celebrities is going to
sell a lot more magazines and draw in a lot more viewers than something depressing and/or hard to
understand like a genocide. Let s face it, when people come home from a long, hard day at work, they
want to be entertained, not forced to think of the bad things happening in the world. Plus, thanks to a
sub par educational system in the United States that teaches to the test and lets important subjects such
as geography and social sciences fall by the wayside, many people don t even know where these
places are that are experiencing humanitarian crises. They can t be expected to be interested in places
of which they have never heard. This, at least, is the common perception among the media today. In
2005, the collective news media channels of this country ran 55 times as many stories about Michael
Jackson and his trial for alleged child sexual abuse than they did regarding the genocide going on in
Darfur. In fact, MTVu, which is the university station for MTV, did a more thorough job of covering
Darfur than any of the major media outlets in the United States. Further, while the news media in other
countries, most notably the BBC in Great Britain, do a generally good job of covering important world
events (proving it can be done), the news media in the United States tends to

paintings. Marc Chagall and Pablo Picasso, two out of the hundreds of artist, are some of the most
outstanding artist that have ever been discovered. Art classes only teach people to paint and draw, but
Chagall and Picasso taught more than thousands what true art is. Chagall had three big masterpieces
he worked on for a long time. Chagall and Picasso were big artist because, Marc had three big

Everything Everything By Nicola Yoon
Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon relates to my own life. I can relate to this book in various
ways. First, the characters. The main character Madeline and I are very much alike. We both enjoy
reading books. Just like her, When she reads a book she uses it as a life lesson to live her life to the
fullest. Also, Madeline s personality is a carefree, outgoing and curious type of personality. When I
read this book I could see myself through her. Another way I can relate to Everything Everything is
how independent Madeline is. She has a type of sickness where she stays in her house and she cannot
leave or she will get sick and possibly die. Throughout the book it shows how strong a girl or anyone
can be by themselves. Lastly the most important

The Nfl And The Football League
When bringing up the topic of Football, people think of Muscular men above six foot physically
pounding each other. Offensive and defensive players in the pros are averagely 6 foot 5 and around
300 pounds. While skill players such as receivers, running backs, and defensive backs are usually
around 6 foot, 200 pounds. Men in pro leagues are very big and described as mean guys ready for war.
The more popular Football Leagues are like the National Football League, Canadian Football League,

the sport rather than their half nakedness. A lot of men do not think women are tough enough to play
Football. These women that do play football in Professional leagues should be taken more serious not

Paine uses a number of arguments to support his belief that the American colonies would be better off
as an independent nation. First of all, he believes that the argument to rectify relations with England is
unfair, as though she is referred to as America s mother country, she has to right to be referred to as
such. The colonies were composed of numerous nationalities, not just Englishmen. In fact, Not one
third of the inhabitants, even of this province are of English descent. The fact that the British do not

Environmental Problems Facing The Earth
Patton, Cade
AP Environmental Science
The biggest environmental problem that faces Earth today is pollution. There are a bunch types of
pollution on planet Earth but by far air pollution is the deadliest. Air pollution can inhibit the breathing
of living organisms. Many major companies including Exxonmobil and Bp who are leading the air
pollution race with a Exxonmobil averaging 39 million tons of emissions. These emissions are
released into the air by the process of making gasoline and chemicals. The second biggest
environmental problem Earth faces each year is the decrease of natural resources. When it comes to
natural resources the depletion of fossil fuels and deforestation are destroying the planet.
Deforestation is the removal of trees in a wide area to the point of where it s almost not a forest
anymore. On the other hand the depletion of fossil fuels is scary because fossil fuels are a
nonrenewable resource. They are nonrenewable because they are being used up faster than they are
being created. And it can take up to millions of years for more fossil fuels to be created. And finally
for my third pick of the biggest environmental problems facing the Earth is the depletion of its Ozone
layer. Some chemicals named Chlorine and bromine are in the atmosphere and are deteriorating the
Ozone layer which consists of three hydrogen atoms.

One of the most important management activities in today s economy is to improve performance,
especially labor productivity, because almost every manufacturing process involves human work. Not
only the physical work, but also the mental manpower is crucial to achieve the objectives of the
organization. Increased productivity includes greater motivation, personal participation and better
performance of work in the foodservice organization. For institutional food service, improving labor
productivity can be more challenging because of budget pressure and strict regulations. Many studies

The Continuing Vocational Training Survey (CVTS) recorded the degree and intensity of training
activities in the firm they studied; and it was the key feature in this study, because CVST solved the
arguments of adding up a variety of economic activities with wide differences in terms of capital or
labor intensity (Sala Silva, 2012). Besides CVTS, intensity in research and development, job training
process, degree of capitalization, and general education were also considered as factors in their
calculation model, so the conclusion was able to apply to other general professions.
Accordingly, human capital is also important for food service industry and it can promote economic
growth dramatically. The result of study from Sala and Silva can be applied to food service industry as
well. Proper vocational training before and during the employment can definitely increase labor
productivity. Training for new employees, such as food safety, skills of handwashing, policy and skills
of using certain machines, will help new employees to fit in work quickly and reduce the chances of
operational error. Based on what we learned in class, improvements in design and operation of kitchen
equipment is one of the applications of productivity improvement. Continued vocational training can

regulations and customers feedback as well.

Essay On How We Are Blinded By Sugar And Its Sweetness
How We Are Blinded by Sugar and Its Sweetness We all love a little sugar in our meals and in our
drinks. It makes everything we consume taste that much better. The absence of sugar is definitely
noticeable as everything would taste bland. While you re too busy stuffing your face with those
delicious desserts, did the thought ever cross your mind that what you are consuming is what may
eventually lead to your death? And before you choose to dismiss this claim, here are some things you

She discovered that people who ate more sugar still had higher cardiovascular mortality. As if heart
disease wasn t bad enough, Doctors have recently compared the addiction to sugar being the same as
the addiction to cocaine. The research has shown that sugar could be as addictive as some street drugs
and have similar effects on the brain. Cassie Bjork, MD., founder of healthysimplelife.com discovered
through research that sugar can be even more addicting than cocaine. Dr. Bjork goes into explaining
that dopamine is a neurotransmitter that is a key part of the reward circuit associated with addictive
behavior. When a certain behavior causes an excess release of dopamine, you feel a pleasurable high
that you are inclined to re experience. While consuming sugar, one can simply refer to it as a
condiment and that it is necessary in our meals. What they re failing to realize is it has the same
psychological effects as using cocaine. It messes with your brain in the same way, but doesn t give you
the negative side effects of cocaine. Sugar activates the reward center in our brain the same way drugs
do and provoke similar cravings and withdrawal symptoms. Alan Greene, Md., a children s health and
wellness expert has mentioned that the addiction to sugar can be even harder to break due to how it
affects our stress hormones. This would make sense since sugar is widely more accepted in our society
than drugs and alcohol.

A Report On The Free Piston Stirling
There are two types of Stirling engines to be considered the kinematic engine and the free piston
engine. Most of the military missions would use Lhe kinematic Stirling that produces mechanical
work directly; and this is the one that has received nearly all the development work to date. The free
piston Stirling is a sealed engine which uses a magnetized power piston to activate alternator coils
outside the pressure walls of the engine, thus producing an electrical output. This configuration avoids
the working fluid leakage problems associated with the moving seals in a kinematic engine, but may
be somewhat less efficient. GENERATOR SETS (MOBILE Electrical power) General Purpose Sets

range, with the smaller end of the range (under 15 kw) being most numerous. With the exception of

harsher fines if they do not follow.

The Right To Jerusalem Essay
The Rights to Jerusalem
The rights to Jerusalem have been heavily debated for centuries. It is the cause of much animosity
between the three major monotheistic religions. Since the beginning, the Christians, Muslims and
Jews have all claimed that Jerusalem belongs to them due to their religious texts. According to the
Bible, Jerusalem is where Jesus Christ was nailed to the cross and crucified for his crimes, blasphemy
against Judaism and for treason against Rome. Jerusalem and the area surrounding it are heavily
embedded in Christianity and Judaism. Jerusalem is sacred to the Jews because the First Temple, at the
site known as the Temple Mount today, was built by King Solomon, and Mount Moriah is where

In the New Testament books of Luke and Acts, the accounts of the life of Jesus Christ are told from
his youth and adolescence to his adulthood and death. Jesus was brought to Jerusalem, in his youth
and adolescence, to be presented to God in the Temple, and to partake with his family in the Festival
of the Passover. In his adulthood, he traveled to Jerusalem to preach to the poor, heal the sick and
protect the people within the walls that surrounded Jerusalem. It is also the location of Jesus Last
Supper, his arrest in Gethsemane, his trial, his crucifixion at Golgotha, his burial, his resurrection and
ascension to heaven. With the significance of Jerusalem being very high in the eyes of the Christian
faith, there was very little doubt that there would be a battle to maintain or regain control of
Jerusalem. Nine of the main conflicts, to preserve Jerusalem for the Christian faith, are known
throughout history as the Crusades. During each crusade the theme was the same; recover the lands
that were taken by people who were believed to be the enemies of God. The Crusades were fought to
restore all holy lands and the lands that were once controlled by Christians back to their rightful
owners .

cost more, and the location is limited. Although there is not much that can be done about where the
new housing tract is located, there are a few things you can do to try and get the cost of a home down.
Your best options will relate directly to builder incentives. The following are a few ways you can do
this.
New home purchase rebates
Just like the automotive industry, when new homes sales are slow, builders may offer rebates.
Sometimes it s due to the general economy, but new home sales can be slow in a particular state or
even a particular new tract of homes. These rebates can take different forms, but most of them are
related to a reduced commission from the real estate agent. They agree to reduce their commission,
and share it with the home buyer. The way this works varies. Sometimes it can be a reduction in
closing costs, but it can also be a cash amount paid to you. In this case, it will be the real estate agent
that pays you the rebate. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They will sometimes do this for the slower moving homes in a new tract. Often these are the homes
that didn t have some of the options other homes in the same tract had. In order to sell these homes,
they may offer free upgrades for one or two features. This will add value to the home without an
increase in the home s price tag. Examples of these upgrades include a skylight, appliance upgrades,
and additional

Animal Tats Research Paper
There are lots of amazing types of body art for ladies, but animal tats are being among the most
popular. A lot of women feel a particular link with one animal. Sometimes people call this pet their
totem canine. This is somewhat of an misnomer just because a totem animal is similar to a family
group crest or a flag. Totems usually signify a family group or group you are an integral part of. For
your tattoo though, nearly all women want something that represents them; in the end, a tattoo
decorates your system.
Animal tattoos for ladies are personal. You might have a design idea all chosen predicated on your
sense to be attuned with one dog. If not you might examine these popular canine tats and what they
suggest usually.

Literary Realism Of The Iron Mills And The Yellow...
Literary realism s goal is to invoke compassion within its readers. By learning and experiencing
something of the characters lives in the story, one of the hopes for realism is that by invoking
sympathy within the reader, social injustice may be dealt with. Two examples that use form to reach
the end goal of compassion are Rebecca Harding Davis Life in the Iron Mills and The Yellow
Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Rebecca Harding Davis Life in the Iron Mills uses an
embedded narrative to tell the story of Deb and Hugh, and the daily struggles of Deb s life. Life in the
Iron Mills was written in 1861, two years prior to the Emancipation Proclamation. The goal of this
story is to feel compassion for those in the lower class and to attempt to change the structure of the
American class hierarchy. An unnamed middle class narrator begins the story by describing the town
in which the story takes place. It is described as a town filled with smoke;
The idiosyncrasy of this town is smoke. It rolls sullenly in slow folds from the great chimneys of the
iron foundries, and settles down in black, slimy pools on the muddy streets. Smoke on the wharves,
smoke on the dingy boats, on the yellow river clinging in a coating of greasy soot to the house front,
the two faded poplars, the faces of passers by (3).
Following the description of the hazardous town, the unnamed narrator then proceeds to tell the story
of Deb and Hugh, and how thirty years ago, Hugh was a furnace

Use Of Imagery In Macbeth
Shakespeare, distinctive yet similar to other playwrights, uses vivid imagery to foretell the subsequent
acts of his play. This is very much apparent in Act 4, where Shakespeare manifests the future of
Macbeth s fate in a series of apparitions. The first apparition, an armed head, warns Macbeth of the
danger of MacDuff. MacDuff appreciates this warning but is relatively unalarmed by MacDuff as
shown in the following quote, Whate er thou art, for thy good caution, thanks. Thou hast harped my
fear aright (4.1.75 67). Despite Macbeth s relaxed, initial reaction, I do think that Shakespeare had a
clear purpose in this apparition. This derives from the fact that MacDuff would be a worthy foe of
Macbeth in the future. Macbeth presently, however,

actress and overall great entertainer in just about all categories film related. Mary was born on April 8,
1892, in Toronto, Canada and after only five years on the planet she would begin performing for an
audience. Ten years later she would already find herself performing on Broadway in New York along
side some of the most talented actors in the world. Eventually, Mary would begin working outside the
stage and take a risk in a more recently developed artform. Mary and her luxurious curls would begin
working with D.W. Griffith s Biograph Studio starting in 1909 as a biographer starring in films, rather
than her upbringing of theatre. This job, along with future breakout roles in movies like Tess of the
Storm Country and many others would propel Mary into the limelight in the eyes of many. She would
become known by the public as the biograph girl or the girl with the golden curls along with many
other nicknames and soon would become the most popular and highest paid actress in America and
possibly the world. She also went on to be apart of forming the United Artists studio. It is easy to see
why Mary Pitchford is so important to film history as she shows the development of the first major

Persuasive Essay On Work
People who matter aren t playing attention
People do not have the time to keep up with what you are doing. Quite honestly, people have difficulty
keeping up with themselves much less anyone else. In fact, if you are not in their face on a constant
basis, you will be largely forgotten. You complete your work with no problems. Everything gets done,
and there are no problems. For this, you need to make sure that you are on their radar.
Avoid repetition of your past achievements, you don t want to become old news. Focus on recent
achievements
Contribute to conversations by asking good questions
Work on confidence to speak up when you have something relevant to other people
What are you working on? don t say not much
Wrong answer: not much
Right answer: I am working on X to solve Y problem. We hope to save Z dollars when we are done.
This lets people know that you are doing something important. They are more likely to remember this
as opposed to the not much . Even worse, the wrong answer might put you on the radar for layoffs
when people do not know what you are doing.
Ask for what you want
When I was at Dell, I wanted to get yellow belt certified in Six Sigma, but the class was relatively
expensive. For a moment, that squashed my excitement. I asked my manager what the likelihood the
business would pay for the class. He laughed, We have a training budget that nobody uses. We can

Many Symbols in the Scarlett Letter
Roger Ebert said, If you have to ask what it symbolizes, it didn t. There are many symbols in The
Scarlet Letter. The most known one was the letter itself. The meaning of the letter appears clear at first
but as the book progresses you see the letter s meaning shift with Hester s character. The magistrates
intended the letter to represent the sin of adultery. And while of course, people did shun her at the very
beginning, the shaming technique could not weather the test of time. The A soon began to lose its
shameful meaning and instead become a symbolic example of Hester s courage and show that public
shaming cannot compete with one s own means of self torture. To begin, the scarlet letter had lost its
meaning over the course of time. Then, also, the blameless purity of her life during all these years in
which she had been set apart to infamy was reckoned largely in her favor. (Chapter XIII) The author s
purpose is to call attention to the Puritan s weak shaming system. For example, if the person being
subjected to the humiliation does not draw attention to them self, the villagers will lose interest in the
crime; this allows the villagers a healing time. In Hester s case the people were able to see her in a
new light. Such helpfulness was found in her so much power to do and power to sympathize that many
people refused to interpret the scarlet A by its original signification. They said that it meant Able ; so
strong was Hester Prynne, with a woman s

Essay on Ammonium Security Act and the Sandy Recovery Act
The United States was built on an agrarian system. The ability to grow crops helped create an
economic backbone for the county. The use of fertilizer became a norm in farming and agriculture and
was not considered a potentially harmful substance. Modern science in combination with the terrorist
mind has looked at fertilizer as a weapon, particularly those containing ammonium nitrate. The
Ammonium Nitrate Security Program shows how far the United States has progressed by regressing
when the issue of terrorism is presented into the conversation. Terrorists are using readily available
tools which can be purchased legally without knowledge of law enforcement personnel.

However the substance is also used in fertilizer which is not regulated.
Following the bombing, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms began a partnership with The
Fertilizer Institute (FTI) to monitor and report suspicious activity (Bureau of Alcohol, 2014).
The Ammonium Nitrate Security Act was developed as a means of regulating the sales of ammonium
nitrate to the public. A lack of a comprehensive and uniform method of tracking the substance among
the states reveals a flaw in the system of preventative policing. North Carolina does not have any
regulations in place for the monitoring of sales of ammonium nitrate in its fertilizer form. The fact that
the substance is considered an explosive unless it is in the form of fertilizer is an oversight by the
government.
The Sandy Recovery Act The Sandy Recovery Act of 2013 signed by President Obama afforded

did not include a provision allowing the tribes to request federal aid directly to the president. The

Strauss-Howe s Generations
Generations
Strauss Howe s generational theory explains in detail how the year in which you are born affects your
development, attitudes and socialisation in society. William Strauss and Neil Howe designed the
theory to be a recurring cycle in America. The generation you are born into can reflect your traits and
be a reflection on what type of person you will grow up to be. Strauss Howe examined the patterns in
historical generations and used generational events to create a theory revolving around it. These
generational events are known as turnings.
Although the Strauss Howe generation theory is easy to understand, there can be exceptions. For
example, a baby boomer can adjust their lifestyle and attitudes to be more like the younger
generations. Family, culture, gender, sexuality, beliefs, location, social class, peers, school and media
are all factors that can influence how a person may fit into a certain generation. Due to these factors,
many questions can be asked about this theory differing between people born in different countries,
people of different cultural, and of different social classes and status.

The Gospel Of Mark Essays
Jesus Christ lived a very full, if short, life. He did and accomplished more in his thirty years than
many men do in twice that. The gospels each tell their versions of his life. Of the four, I found the
gospel of Mark to be the most interesting. I enjoy the style of writing in this gospel more than the
others. I feel it gives a better summary of the events in Christ s life. Whereas the other gospels tend to
get bogged down with parables or spend too much time on specific events, the gospel of Mark moves
along at a good pace and adequately gets the message across. A majority of Mark deals with Christ s
travels throughout the area around the Sea of Galilee and the various miracles he performed during
that time. Most of these involved ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is a beautifully written passage. Without coming out and saying, it, Christ makes it apparent that
it s not enough to merely worship; one must also go out and preach to the unsaved and try to help
them see the light. Another parable tells of the rich young man who asks Christ how he may attain the
kingdom of God. Christ asks if he as followed the Ten Commandments, and the young man says he
has. Then Christ tells him that he has to give all his possessions to the poor because he will have no
need of such things in Heaven. This saddens the young man because he has many possessions. After
the young man left, Christ told his disciples that it is difficult for the rich to get into Heaven because
they put too much faith into their riches. It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than
for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God, (Mark 10:25). This is a poignant message. Christ then
says that a man who gives up everything for his faith will be well rewarded in Heaven. This parable is
timeless. It speaks of the downfall greed can force upon you. In the end, no matter how much you
have, you can t take it with you. One of the most widely told stories of Jesus is written in Mark. Upon
visiting the Temple in Jerusalem, Christ finds it is overrun with merchants and moneychangers.
Enraged, Jesus overturns the tables and calls the temple a den of thieves. This angered the priests and
scribes of the city,

Oppression in Cuckoos Nest
frank C, Survey of Literature and Comp. Block 5 May 10, 2011 An Omnipresent Oppression
Oppression is an omnipresent force which has fed on ignorance and hatred and affected the lives of
the less fortunate and powerless. Through literature people are able to express their feelings and
attitudes regarding an amalgam of elements. An example of this exists in the two texts, One Flew Over
the Cuckoo s Nest, and The Life Your Save May Be Your Own; in both texts we see a clear correlation
between the plot events in the stories and the events that took place in American History to oppress
women and Native Americans. One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest, and The Life You Save May Be

Nurse Ratched forced the patients to conform to her guidelines, such as when Chief was forced to

the Native Americans who were made by the federal government to give up their traditions of hunting
and gathering and forced to farm. Both the government and Nurse Ratched did not allow for any

women did not control their own lives, it was controlled by society and they were expected to conform

denied access to public power and the idea of women in the early 1900s was a perfect wife and

Why Is Nietzsche God Is Not Dead
God s not dead and we did not kill him, Nietzsche did. Nietzsche comes up with a claim that God is
dead. He supports this claim by describing a madman frantically running around town looking for an
honest person, he is looking for God. Their responses are laughter assuming the man is crazy. The
madman eventually comes to the conclusion that humanity is unaware of the death of God and its
significance. The significance will take time to reach the people. Nietzsche s way of saying God is
dead is a way of claiming freedom over his own life and trying to bandwagon others on to it. He feels
the need to not have to obey any higher authority and in this he starts a movement of free will and
justifies it by attempting to bring other people along with him. While Nietzsche can make convincing
claims about the death of God, God is not dead. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Well from Nietzsche s stand point God being dead means there are no longer any moral values that we
would need to follow. Humanity has turned away from obedience and has started to find its own way
in life. We no longer need someone to look to or to put our hope in. He even makes the point that the
believers are living as if God is dead. But are they really believers if they aren t following the
practices? Nietzsche brings a sense of freedom into the equation, Indeed, at hearing the news old god
is dead , we philosophers and free spirits feel illuminated by a new dawn; our heart overflows with
gratitude, amazement, forebodings, expectation finally the horizon seems clear again, even if not
bright; finally our ships may set out again... Nietzsche isn t arguing that God is dead and for atheism,

The Pros And Cons Of Restraint
Restraints limit a patient s movement. This brings up many ethical debates and issues. There are
certain guidelines that should be followed when it comes to using restraints. It is important to know
the different kinds of restraints, how to apply a physical restraint properly and how to administer a
chemical restraint safely. It is important to consider alternatives as the use of restraints can present risk
and negative outcomes.
History of Restraints Restraints were incorporated into health care many decades ago. In the late
1970s, more than 25% of U.S residents in long term care facilities were restrained compared to a
current average of 5% (Taylor, Lillis, Lynn, 2015, p. 707). Since 1987, the federal government and
accrediting agencies have worked to reduce or eliminate the use of restraints (Taylor et al. 2015, p.
708). Also according to Taylor, Lillis, and Lynn (2015) a Safety Alert from the Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) in 1995 informed nurses and other members of the health care team the risks of
using side rails, especially when all four side rails are up.
Different Types of Restraints There are three categories of restraints. The three categories are physical,
chemical, and seclusion. According to Springer (2015), a physical restraint is a device that keeps the
patient from moving freely or from the patient harming themselves or other people nearby. Chemical
restraints are drugs that are administered that do the same thing a physical restraint does.

Case Study On Knee Replacement
1. My mother has knee pain for many years and recently it has worsened. She has some deformity
around the knees and can barely walk more than 10 15 minutes. What should be done?
Recent worsening of chronic knee pain and deformity probably indicates that knee arthritis has
reached advanced stage i.e. the protective lining of the joint is nearly completely worn out. At this
stage, pain medication often doesn t help much. Rather, one may suffer from dangerous side effects of
prolonged pain medication therapy on heart, liver, kidney, stomach and intestines. It is recommended
that one should consult a joint specialist and get certain X rays. If it is advanced arthritis, then one
should consider knee replacement to get rid of the problem.

Competition Between Groups Over Land And Basic Resources
As long as humans have been alive and able to communicate, there has been competition between
groups. While this may have begun with competition over land and basic resources, competition
between groups has developed into a complex social structure. After some time, one group comes out
on top. This dominant group then has a self validated foundation of which to build discriminatory acts.
The dominant group has one or more desirable traits or resources that the minority group does not
have, so this dominant group believes itself to be superior to the minority group. This structure of
competition has led to hate, discrimination, and violence between groups.
Group competition did not end over a battle over resources and land. Groups have found more
ambiguous ways to identify themselves as superior. Disagreements between groups over values,
religious beliefs, and traditions have led to discrimination, violence, war, and genocide. Romans killed
Christians because Romans believed Christians were religious fanatics. Sunnis and Shi ites have
fought since Muhammad s death over who they believed was the rightful predecessor. German Nazis
annihilated six million Jews because Nazis believed that Jewish people were inferior and led to
Germany s decline in the 20th century. And to this day, dominant groups continue to discriminate
against minority groups.
This has been the way our world has functioned for centuries. The dominant group takes whatever
means necessary to remain at the top,

Ludovic clearly doesn t enjoy laying the sport, and he isn t very good at it. We constantly see him
lying on the ground. The reason he is playing the sport though is because his father loves it, and thinks
that it s something that normal boys do. Everyone around him comes on so strong with their gender
request that it almost seems that they are like a military if sorts. Their belief is you will act like you
are supposed to act or we won t give you the affection that a kid deserves. This notion is something
that his parents struggle with throughout the film. It seems that they really do love him, but they just
can t wrap their mind around the fact their son really thinks he is a girl.
I felt that this film showed two different ways of seeing things. First there s the way a children see the
world. Kids are able to create dream worlds where they are able to live out their fantasies. Ludovic s
world involves his favorite TV character, a Barbie like character named Pam. Pam is a princess of
sorts; she flies around in a pink dress with a magic wand. In this world Ludovic acts like her assistant.
It is clear that he wants to be just like her. On the other hand there is the view of the adults. They tend
to see things more for what they really are. They don t act very well around someone who may be a

The Importance Of Child Care In America According to the NACCRRA 2014 Child Care in State of Missouri report, thirty eight (38) percent of all requests for child care to the child care resource and referral programs were for both infant toddler care and preschool alike. Eighty four (84) percent, up by 11% since 2010, of families are looking for full time child care with 21% needing before and after care. An incongruity between supply and demand continues to exit. As families continue to transition from public assistance to work, school, and job training, the largest obstacle they face is affordable, accessible child care. • 3. Viscosity Lab Essay Viscosity Science Lab Purpose: To determine of changing the viscosity will affect the time it takes for a marble to flow through a liquid. Hypothesis: If a marble is dropped into dish soap and corn syrup, than I predict that the marble in the dish soap will travel faster than the marble in the corn syrup because I know that the viscosity of the corn syrup is thicker than then the viscosity of the dish soap. Also, the particles in the corn syrup are more compact than those in the dish soap. This makes the marble sink faster in the dish soap than the corn syrup. Apparatus: * 2 identical marbles * 250 Graduated Cylinders of 250mL * 250mL of dish soap * 250mL of corn syrup * 1 timer/stopwatch Procedure: 1. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is very difficult for large particles to move past each other unlike small, tiny particles, like those in the dish soap. The particles in the dish soap are very small and can move more freely and quickly. In the dish soap, the particles are very small and can move past each other easily when compared to the particles in the corn syrup. Another reason also contributed to the result of this experiment. Attraction. Some types of particles tend to attract more than others and that is exactly what happened in the corn syrup. The particles in the corn syrup attracted more than the dish soap. The large particles in the corn syrup held tightly to each other, that when the marble fell in that it made it hard for the marble to pass through more than one particle at a time. IN the dish soap, the particles did not attract as much as the corn syrup which let the marble move easily and quickly through the liquid. The strength of attraction as well as the particle size is important in determining a fluid s viscosity. Application: This viscosity experiment can be used in real life when making sun tan lotion as well as other cosmetic products. It is important for the lotion to be viscous because the lotion could not be applied and spread around the body if the cream was not viscous enough to suit its use. It would drip all over you! It wouldn t dry or stay in one place. Many well known businesses hire highly educated scientists to calculate the right viscosity level and if it is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Exports versus goods produced and sold in a foreign country As indicated in International trade (2013): International trade opens foreign markets to goods produced in the United States, including billions of dollars in Caterpillar machines, engines and parts produced by our U.S. employees. In 2007, thanks to growing demand around the world, Caterpillar s U.S. exports reached $12.7 billion and helped to provide jobs for tens of thousands of Caterpillar and supplier employees in the United States. (p. 1) Conversely, Caterpillar does obtain international plants abroad. They have leveraged this opportunity to gain market share by producing a low cost product with unsurpassed quality. If exporting was their only option, maintaining competitiveness through a low cost product may not be possible due to their overseas competition. As described above, increased tariffs on imported goods drives cost to the product. If the product and its raw materials are made in the host country, tariffs will be eliminated. However, if a fixed exchange rate was negotiated and labor in the home country was less expensive than the possible host country than importation could be further considered. If the cost to produce goods at home and a fixed exchange rate could drive the home country to export. A fixed exchange rate when it comes to taxation and when it is applied along with the comparative advantage theory is actually good for importation of goods. There are several theories on ... Everyone is entitled to these rights without being discriminated against. For a long time, people were being denied these basic rights as they were being abused and tortured for things that they couldn t control. People were tired of getting caught in the cross fire, they wanted protection, a chance and the freedom to live. Although there was a lack of human rights before World War II, human rights have significantly improved over the post war period, and officials are putting forth efforts to ensure that human rights are protected in modern day society. • 7. News Media and the Coverage of Darfur News Media and the Coverage of Darfur Our news media is as celebrity obsessed as the rest of the nation. And why shouldn t it be? The articles and television news coverage of celebrities is going to sell a lot more magazines and draw in a lot more viewers than something depressing and/or hard to understand like a genocide. Let s face it, when people come home from a long, hard day at work, they want to be entertained, not forced to think of the bad things happening in the world. Plus, thanks to a sub par educational system in the United States that teaches to the test and lets important subjects such as geography and social sciences fall by the wayside, many people don t even know where these places are that are experiencing humanitarian crises. They can t be expected to be interested in places of which they have never heard. This, at least, is the common perception among the media today. In 2005, the collective news media channels of this country ran 55 times as many stories about Michael Jackson and his trial for alleged child sexual abuse than they did regarding the genocide going on in Darfur. In fact, MTVu, which is the university station for MTV, did a more thorough job of covering Darfur than any of the major media outlets in the United States. Further, while the news media in other countries, most notably the BBC in Great Britain, do a generally good job of covering important world events (proving it can be done), the news media in the United States tends to ... The main character Madeline and I are very much alike. We both enjoy reading books. Just like her, When she reads a book she uses it as a life lesson to live her life to the fullest. Also, Madeline s personality is a carefree, outgoing and curious type of personality. When I read this book I could see myself through her. The colonies were composed of numerous nationalities, not just Englishmen. In fact, Not one third of the inhabitants, even of this province are of English descent. There are a bunch types of pollution on planet Earth but by far air pollution is the deadliest. Air pollution can inhibit the breathing of living organisms. Many major companies including Exxonmobil and Bp who are leading the air pollution race with a Exxonmobil averaging 39 million tons of emissions. These emissions are released into the air by the process of making gasoline and chemicals. The second biggest environmental problem Earth faces each year is the decrease of natural resources. When it comes to natural resources the depletion of fossil fuels and deforestation are destroying the planet. Deforestation is the removal of trees in a wide area to the point of where it s almost not a forest anymore. On the other hand the depletion of fossil fuels is scary because fossil fuels are a nonrenewable resource. They are nonrenewable because they are being used up faster than they are being created. And it can take up to millions of years for more fossil fuels to be created. And finally for my third pick of the biggest environmental problems facing the Earth is the depletion of its Ozone layer. Some chemicals named Chlorine and bromine are in the atmosphere and are deteriorating the Ozone layer which consists of three hydrogen atoms. 2. Besides CVTS, intensity in research and development, job training process, degree of capitalization, and general education were also considered as factors in their calculation model, so the conclusion was able to apply to other general professions. Accordingly, human capital is also important for food service industry and it can promote economic growth dramatically. The result of study from Sala and Silva can be applied to food service industry as well. Proper vocational training before and during the employment can definitely increase labor productivity. Training for new employees, such as food safety, skills of handwashing, policy and skills of using certain machines, will help new employees to fit in work quickly and reduce the chances of operational error. Although there is not much that can be done about where the new housing tract is located, there are a few things you can do to try and get the cost of a home down. New home purchase rebates Just like the automotive industry, when new homes sales are slow, builders may offer rebates. Sometimes it s due to the general economy, but new home sales can be slow in a particular state or even a particular new tract of homes. The meaning of the letter appears clear at first but as the book progresses you see the letter s meaning shift with Hester s character. The magistrates intended the letter to represent the sin of adultery. And while of course, people did shun her at the very beginning, the shaming technique could not weather the test of time. The A soon began to lose its shameful meaning and instead become a symbolic example of Hester s courage and show that public shaming cannot compete with one s own means of self torture. To begin, the scarlet letter had lost its meaning over the course of time. Then, also, the blameless purity of her life during all these years in which she had been set apart to infamy was reckoned largely in her favor. (Chapter XIII) The author s purpose is to call attention to the Puritan s weak shaming system. For example, if the person being subjected to the humiliation does not draw attention to them self, the villagers will lose interest in the crime; this allows the villagers a healing time. In Hester s case the people were able to see her in a new light. Strauss-Howe s Generations Generations Strauss Howe s generational theory explains in detail how the year in which you are born affects your development, attitudes and socialisation in society. William Strauss and Neil Howe designed the theory to be a recurring cycle in America. The generation you are born into can reflect your traits and be a reflection on what type of person you will grow up to be. Strauss Howe examined the patterns in historical generations and used generational events to create a theory revolving around it. These generational events are known as turnings. Although the Strauss Howe generation theory is easy to understand, there can be exceptions. For example, a baby boomer can adjust their lifestyle and attitudes to be more like the younger generations. Family, culture, gender, sexuality, beliefs, location, social class, peers, school and media are all factors that can influence how a person may fit into a certain generation. Due to these factors, many questions can be asked about this theory differing between people born in different countries, people of different cultural, and of different social classes and status. Then Christ tells him that he has to give all his possessions to the poor because he will have no need of such things in Heaven. This saddens the young man because he has many possessions. An example of this exists in the two texts, One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest, and The Life Your Save May Be Your Own; in both texts we see a clear correlation between the plot events in the stories and the events that took place in American History to oppress women and Native Americans. One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest, and The Life You Save May Be Your Own, are similar due to the fact that they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nurse Ratched forced the patients to conform to her guidelines, such as when Chief was forced to sweep rather than live freely as he pleased. Chief like Lucynell in The Life You Save May Be Your Own, does not have a voice to express his feelings or thoughts. This lack off voice can be compared to the Native Americans who were made by the federal government to give up their traditions of hunting and gathering and forced to farm. Both the government and Nurse Ratched did not allow for any intervening, and they forced upon their subjects a certain lifestyle. During the early twentieth century women did not control their own lives, it was controlled by society and they were expected to conform to society and follow its laws and patterns. In The Life You Save May Be Your Own, Women were denied access to public power and the idea of women in the early 1900s was a perfect wife and mother, thus leaving their lives to be run by men (Bruccoli 324). Women of this time were voiceless, and this lack of voice is display in the story because Lucynell literally was a mute, and could not speak. Lucynell s lack of a voice metaphorically represents the women who had no voice in the early twentieth century whereas Mr.Shiftlet does have a voice; he represents the men during the ... • 36. Why Is Nietzsche God Is Not Dead God s not dead and we did not kill him, Nietzsche did. Nietzsche comes up with a claim that God is dead. He supports this claim by describing a madman frantically running around town looking for an honest person, he is looking for God. Their responses are laughter assuming the man is crazy. The madman eventually comes to the conclusion that humanity is unaware of the death of God and its significance. The significance will take time to reach the people. Nietzsche s way of saying God is dead is a way of claiming freedom over his own life and trying to bandwagon others on to it. He feels the need to not have to obey any higher authority and in this he starts a movement of free will and justifies it by attempting to bring other people along with him. While Nietzsche can make convincing claims about the death of God, God is not dead. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Well from Nietzsche s stand point God being dead means there are no longer any moral values that we would need to follow. Humanity has turned away from obedience and has started to find its own way in life. We no longer need someone to look to or to put our hope in. He even makes the point that the believers are living as if God is dead. But are they really believers if they aren t following the practices? Nietzsche brings a sense of freedom into the equation, Indeed, at hearing the news old god is dead , we philosophers and free spirits feel illuminated by a new dawn; our heart overflows with gratitude, amazement, forebodings, expectation finally the horizon seems clear again, even if not bright; finally our ships may set out again... He isn t trying to show us God doesn t exist; he is simply saying God can t be taken seriously because of the chaos in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. The Pros And Cons Of Restraint Restraints limit a patient s movement. This brings up many ethical debates and issues. There are certain guidelines that should be followed when it comes to using restraints. It is important to know the different kinds of restraints, how to apply a physical restraint properly and how to administer a chemical restraint safely. It is important to consider alternatives as the use of restraints can present risk and negative outcomes. History of Restraints Restraints were incorporated into health care many decades ago. In the late 1970s, more than 25% of U.S residents in long term care facilities were restrained compared to a current average of 5% (Taylor, Lillis, Lynn, 2015, p. 707). Since 1987, the federal government and accrediting agencies have worked to reduce or eliminate the use of restraints (Taylor et al. 2015, p. 708). Also according to Taylor, Lillis, and Lynn (2015) a Safety Alert from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1995 informed nurses and other members of the health care team the risks of using side rails, especially when all four side rails are up. Different Types of Restraints There are three categories of restraints. The three categories are physical, chemical, and seclusion. According to Springer (2015), a physical restraint is a device that keeps the patient from moving freely or from the patient harming themselves or other people nearby. Chemical restraints are drugs that are administered that do the same thing a physical restraint does. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This can cause a person to lose their originality and influences them in a bad manner. Ayn Rand challenged this ideology and through her novels, she proved that individuality is a better philosophy. Ayn Rand s The Fountainhead is an attack on collectivism, an entity overpowering creativity and individualism. Howard Roark is first used by Ayn Rand to defy the rationality of tradition set by Stanton University. By doing so, he ends up getting expelled by creating a radical final project of the year. What should be done? Recent worsening of chronic knee pain and deformity probably indicates that knee arthritis has reached advanced stage i.e. the protective lining of the joint is nearly completely worn out. • 40. Competition Between Groups Over Land And Basic Resources As long as humans have been alive and able to communicate, there has been competition between groups. While this may have begun with competition over land and basic resources, competition between groups has developed into a complex social structure. After some time, one group comes out on top. This dominant group then has a self validated foundation of which to build discriminatory acts. The dominant group has one or more desirable traits or resources that the minority group does not have, so this dominant group believes itself to be superior to the minority group. This structure of competition has led to hate, discrimination, and violence between groups. Group competition did not end over a battle over resources and land. Groups have found more ambiguous ways to identify themselves as superior. Disagreements between groups over values, religious beliefs, and traditions have led to discrimination, violence, war, and genocide. Romans killed Christians because Romans believed Christians were religious fanatics. Sunnis and Shi ites have fought since Muhammad s death over who they believed was the rightful predecessor. German Nazis annihilated six million Jews because Nazis believed that Jewish people were inferior and led to Germany s decline in the 20th century. And to this day, dominant groups continue to discriminate against minority groups. This has been the way our world has functioned for centuries. My Life in Pink Adam Bierenbaum Critical Essay 1 10/22/11 The film My Vie En Rose meaning My Life in Pink tells the story of a seven year old boy named Ludovic who is convinced that he actually is a girl living in a boy s body. He tells his parents that I m a boy now, but one day I ll be a girl. Even years before puberty, he knows that there was a mix up when he was handed his gender assignment. The film deals of the stress that is not only dealt with by Ludovic but also how his family deals with his realization. Ludovic clearly doesn t enjoy laying the sport, and he isn t very good at it. We constantly see him lying on the ground. The reason he is playing the sport though is because his father loves it, and thinks that it s something that normal boys do. Everyone around him comes on so strong with their gender request that it almost seems that they are like a military if sorts. Their belief is you will act like you are supposed to act or we won t give you the affection that a kid deserves. This notion is something that his parents struggle with throughout the film. It seems that they really do love him, but they just can t wrap their mind around the fact their son really thinks he is a girl. I felt that this film showed two different ways of seeing things. First there s the way a children see the world. Kids are able to create dream worlds where they are able to live out their fantasies. Ludovic s world involves his favorite TV character, a Barbie like character named Pam. Pam is a princess of sorts; she flies around in a pink dress with a magic wand. In this world Ludovic acts like her assistant. It is clear that he wants to be just like her. On the other hand there is the view of the adults. They tend to see things more for what they really are. They don t act very well around someone who may be a little different from them. This is most evident in the way that Ludovic s father s boss acts.
