Russian Orthodox Church In Animal Farm
The Russian Orthodox Church is full of mystery and has been around for many generations. Other
name for the Russian Orthodox Church is Eastern Orthodox Church, it s also known for being
autocephalous. The Russian Orthodox Church believes the bible to be the world of God, in other
words it is trinitarian. In the novel, Animal Farm the church is represented as Moses the raven. Moses
comes and goes and tells the animals about Sugar Candy Mountain. The Russian Church has been
around since 1448, but the metropolitans of Kiev were the head of the church. The church wants
immunity from taxation in the 1270, while it was under the rule of Mogul. The community of

Speedo Sectionals Analysis
During the spring of 2015, I missed all of the time cuts to make Speedo Sectionals, forcing me to
compete in a much slower meet at the end of the season. There are few things I have experienced that
are more crushing than trying my hardest and falling short of my goal. Despite the heavy
disappointment, I used the opportunity to harden my resolve and use my strengths to my greatest
advantage. Along with my coach s help, I used my ability to think strategically and hone my technique
through focus on the smallest details from how I would approach a swim mentally to how I would
warm up. My coach had many important and useful suggestions and lessons from his past experience
that required me to be an active learner that could apply his information.

The objective of this report is to delve into the importance and study the major features of the Vedic
Age and its contribution to today s world.
INTRODUCTION
The Vedic period also referred to as the vedic age was that period in the Indian History during which
the Vedas, the oldest scriptures of Hinduism were composed. The Indo Aryans, settled in North India
were very closely related to the Vedic Age and its inception. They played a key role in bringing in
specific religious traditions and customs which is commonly referred to as the Vedic Civilization. In
the civilizations early days, it was a tribal and pastoral society based in the northwestern parts of the
Indian Subcontinent. It spread to the Ganges Plain after 1200 BCE shaped by the increasing settled
agriculture, a hierarchy of four social classes and the unfolding of monarchial, state level polities.
ORIGIN AND HOME OF THE ARYANS

Wolf Spider Predation
ABSTRACT
In Cautious versus desperado males: predation risk affects courtship intensity but not female choice in
a wolf spider the courtship displays of the wolf spider, Pardosa milvina were investigated. The wolf
spider s courtship display in males includes raising their legs and shaking their bodies. The rate of a
males leg raises is a signal of the assets the male has, females that mate with males with quicker leg
raises had more progeny and these left the egg sac faster and lived longer. Rypstra et al. wanted to
determine if male wolf spiders that differ in assets and quality would behave differently under the risk
of predation and wondered if the differences in reactions would affect how females choose their
mates. This study consisted of two experiments, in the first experiment they determined that the
symmetry of the front legs of males was related to their rate of leg raises, this was used as a measure
of male quality. They used this measure in the second experiment when they explored how Tigrosa
helluo predator cues changed the males courtship behaviour. It was determined that predation cues did
not have an effect on whether mating happened between males and females and a ... Show more

I believe that higher quality males should perform their courtship display at a lower intensity when
predator cues are present, while lower quality males should increase their displays. This is because
higher quality males long term reproductive options are more evident and lower quality males may
become desperados and showoff whatever assets they have in a desperate attempt to convince a
female to mate with them. If females can judge whether a male is of high or low quality then even
when there is risk of predation, they will mate with the males that are of higher quality (Rypstra et al.

Hyper Threading Technology
HYPER THREADING TECHNOLOGY
1. INTRODUCTION
This report describes the Hyper Threading Technology architecture, and discusses the
microarchitecture details of Intel s first implementation on the Intel Xeon processor family. For that
reason, firstly, general processor microarchitecture and thread level parallelism will be explained.
After that, hyper threading technology architecture will be discussed in a detailed manner. Then, first
implementation examples will be given. Also, some important components will be presented required
for a hyper threaded processor. After all, performace results of this new technology will conclude the
report.
Hyper Threading Technology brings the concept of simultaneous multi threading to a general ... Show

Multiprocessor systems have been used for many years, and high end programmers are familiar with
the techniques to exploit multiprocessors for higher performance levels.
In recent years a number of other techniques to further exploit TLP have been discussed and some
products have been announced. One of these techniques is chip multiprocessing (CMP), where two
processors are put on a single die. The two processors each have a full set of execution and
architectural resources. The processors may or may not share a large on chip cache. CMP is largely
orthogonal to conventional multiprocessor systems, as you can have multiple CMP processors in a
multiprocessor configuration. Recently announced processors incorporate two processors on each die.
However, a CMP chip is significantly larger than the size of a single core chip and therefore more
expensive to manufacture; moreover, it does not begin to address the die size and power
considerations.
Another approach is to allow a single processor to execute multiple threads by switching between
them. Time slice multithreading is where the processor switches between software threads after a fixed
time period. Time slice multithreading can result in wasted execution slots but can effectively
minimize the effects of long latencies to

Alexander The Great Analysis
Diving into the vision of Collin Farrell s 2004 Film, Alexander Stepping, lurking, and crawling into an
ancient world where arrows are lusting across from army to army, bloody limbs being ripped from
people s ligaments, and death circling every corner of the battlefield. This is the very stepping stone of
almost every battle with the most powerful leader, king, god like, and pharaoh the very powerful
Alexander the Great. A movie called Alexander by Collin Farrell, warps you back in time towards a
time era where a ruler named Alexander the Great wanted to conquer the world. This movie
transforms, informs, and gives you a powerful insight into a time that shaped into the Hellenistic era
of the ancient world of Western Civilization. In joint, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Arriving in Babylon, Persia the movie depicted him running to his major and now to be life time
servant Bagoa s. Another key element, that was present when Alexander first arrived in Babylon was
when he met Darius s family in high political positions. In the movie, they describe this occasion that
these people in higher rank positions were begging for their very own lives. The thing that stressed
this ideology that really struck on who Alexander the Great really was that in the movie he sparred
these people and kept them in their own ranks. It showed that Alexander the Great wasn t just a
barbarian and trying to dismantled everything but to show he was still a compassionate man. As the
plot, continues we start to learn a little more about Alexander s story of him as a child. The movie
does this by going into a variety of scenes throughout the movie to try to connect it in a sort of way to
show why he is doing a certain action. While, going back in time throughout the film we learn about
him mother Olympia s. In the movie, it explains that many people perceived his mother of a sorceress
and a barbarian. They do this by showing her giant craze for snakes, telling the viewers constantly that
Alexander the Great was not the son of King Philip the second but the son of Zeus. The movie also
flashes scenes as King Phillip the second as a drunk, compromiser, and

In Au Revoir Les Enfants Does Malle See the Germans in...
Throughout the book Au Revoir Les Enfants Louis Malle highlights at several points the typical
associations which the majority of people have when discussing the role of the Germans during the
war. However Malle approaches the topic from a more complex angle thus forcing the reader to
question the general stereotypes and examine the varying attitudes of both the French and Germans,
by portraying them in certain situations in which they adopt a sometimes unexpected attitude. During
a scene in the beginning of the book whilst the boys are out in the village they encounter a group of
German soldiers, Malle exposes this situation in order to immediately draw attention to the general
hostility and fear which is evoked by the Germans. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Est ce que vous avez perdu des enfants? At this point in the book, Malle has succesfully introduced to
the reader a controversial theme which demands a lot of thought and consideration, as we are made
aware that not all German soldiers had the same principles. Continuously, it must be taken into
account that the attitudes of the French differed during the war also, and it would be unfair and
blatantly wrong to assume that the Germans were simply bad and the French were good , which is a
common misconception. The restaurant scene is essential in under lining the way in which Malle does
not see the French and Germans as merely black and white but instead evaluates each of their
characteristics and exploits them thoughout many scenes in order to highlight the common

A Service Facilitator Of Lucy Hill Services
On Tuesday July 7, 2015, at approximately 3:01 PM, Kiana Beekman, (MFCU Investigator)
(Beekman) received a call on the state office telephone from HILL, Lucy (Service Facilitator of Lucy
Hill Services (LHS). During the conversation, Beekman asked HILL to clarify her role and
responsibilities as a service facilitator, in addition to the role and responsibilities of HARRIS,
LaFrance as the Employer of Records (EOR) for Medicaid Recipient DANIEL, Rose and MCGHEE,

After enrollment into the program was complete, HARRIS nor MCGHEE presented HILL with any
questions of how the program worked, timesheet approvals or submissions. HILL monitored any
changes in DANIEL s need for services through face to face monthly visits which lasted about 40
minutes. Changes in the need for services may be due to an admission to the hospital, a long term
nursing facility or relocation to another state.
During HILL s second home visit to HARRIS residence, she told both HARRIS and MCGHEE that
DANIEL could attend a local day care center that provides care for adults 18 years and older with
limited mobility and/or chronic illnesses called JABA. JABA s caregivers specialize in dementia, and
provide assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADL s) and personal care. HILL emphasized that if
DANIEL attended the program during the day, MCGHEE knew she was not to submit any timesheets
for care provided until DANIEL s returned home in the evening.
HILL identified that before JABA, MCGHEE submitted her hours of care for DANIEL correctly. In
April of 2013, DANIEL attended JABA Monday through Friday, usually from morning until about
5:30 PM. Her morning arrival and evening departure times varied, and she did not attend the center on

Modern Film On Our Rational And Critical Thought Processes
Frankfurt School philosophers fiercely debated the effects of modern film on our rational and critical
thought processes. Max Horkheimer and Theodor Adorno assert film is an oppressive technology that
makes us intellectually docile, while Walter Benjamin contests their assertion by recognizing film s
liberatory potential. Although Horkheimer and Adorno make important points about the current
relationship between film and the masses, they fail to acknowledge any possible changes to it. In the
context of futurity, Benjamin presents a convincing argument the technology of film can create
subjectivities that will help the masses assimilate into modernity. Horkheimer and Adorno s
understanding of film reflects our current reality. Although Benjamin acknowledges film s current
state, he envisions a future where film trains us to cope with the pressures of modernity. In The
Culture Industry: Enlightenment as Mass Deception, Horkheimer and Adorno argue film oppresses
our ability to think critically. They base their argument on how culture today is infecting everything
with sameness (Horkheimer 94). That is, the ubiquitous nature of film infects everyone with
identically diseased notions. The connotations of infection are clear: affliction, contamination, and
disorder. For Horkheimer and Adorno, the infection (film created by the bourgeois cultural elite)
forces us into a state of mental lethargy the masses uniformly accept film content with little resistance

Communication In Communication
Conversation is changing dynamically as society ushers in a new era of communication. Social media
has been a revelation in the way society interacts with one another. It is often celebrated for the ability
to connect individuals over extensive distances; however, it is quickly creating a disconnect between
people communicating face to face. There are three prevalent issues plaguing modern society s
interpersonal communication: Social media becomes an addiction, the interaction between reality and
the online landscape, and social media teaches society to multitask. Social media has caused attention
span to plummet and society has become increasingly enamored with an online world; thus, causing
individuals to be detracted from their environment and less sociable in face to face communication.
Renowned movie critic Roger Ebert had an interesting thought on why he believed social media was
addicting. In Ebert s blog he wrote about the French word frisson and its meaning. A translation into
English would show it means; a brief intense reaction. Ebert theorizes that humans search out for it
often. Essentially, what Ebert is acknowledging is that he finds himself addicted to this frisson. He
feels the need to search out the quick fix that social media provides. This indicates a possible
explanation why society tends to be on their phone during lulled situations (Ebert). Individuals do this
to search out frisson, and to distract themselves from their own perceived boredom. This

The Golden Age of Sail in Saint John
Even as the Golden Age of Sail was coming to a close, Saint John had remained at the top the fourth
largest shipbuilding center in the world and one of the greatest in North America. Their affluence took
a turn during 1877, when the Great Fire of Saint John devastated the city. It shattered not only the
lives of city shipbuilders and merchants, but crippled local citizens as well. Summers in Saint John
were typically dry and muggy, though on June 20, 1877 there was an eerie uncharacteristic breeze.
Although the cause of the original spark remains unknown, it is believed to have started from
McLaughlan Son s boiler shop or from a nearby sawmill. As wood is a naturally rapid burning agent,
it led to the quick demise of many wood built city structures. The structures in the Market Square area
burnt rapidly destroying over 80 hectares (200 hundred acres) and 1612 structures including eight
churches, six banks, fourteen hotels, eleven schooners and four woodboats in just over a nine hour
period. It was a period of despair, as men and women were completely drained after dragging bedding,
pieces of furniture and other articles through the streets, a vain task in many cases, as the new places
of refuge sought out often proved as unsafe as those that were deserted. Several business owners and
residents lost everything they had ¬ leaving many Saint John natives with nowhere to go. Support
quickly began to pour in from all around the world, with donations reaching in

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder ( Ocd )
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder:
A Brief Overview Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder that is characterized
by constant intrusive thoughts (obsessions) that normally cause anxiety or distress which can only be
alleviated by performing repetitive actions (compulsions) (Rahimi, Haghighi, and Shamsaei, 2015).
Nearly everyone has experienced something similar to these obsessions and compulsions at some
point in their life but this experience can only be labeled as OCD when it occurs at least one hour per
day and correlates with high levels of distress (Abramowitz et al., 2010). It s important to distinguish
the differences between the actual psychological disorder and informal use of the term OCD. For
example, many people claim they have OCD because they are particular about how something is done
such as doing the dishes or making the bed in the morning. However, true sufferers of this disorder
suffer from great anxiety and torment from their obsessions and cannot restrain themselves from
giving in to their compulsions (Huffman Dowdell, 2004, p. 462). OCD, according to the World Health
Organization, is among the top ten most disabling medical conditions (Rahimi et al., 2015). There are
two main components to obsessive compulsive disorder: obsessions and compulsions. The first
component, obsessions, are unwanted intrusive thoughts, images, or urges that will constantly plague
an individual s mind and cause tem a great source of anxiety and

The American Of Western Communities
Western communities were experiencing a large influx of Black Americans for the first time, and they
arrived as part of a vast shift of the general population. Eight million Americans moved west in 1940,
half of them to the Pacific coast. There were 171,000 Black Americans in the West in 1940, but
620,000 by 1945. Between the spring of 1942 and 1945 alone, 340,000 Back Americans settled in
California. The Los Angeles Times is one of the dominant newspapers in the Los Angeles region. The
newspaper was first founded in the late 1980 s and by 1914 was run by Norman Chandler. Historically
the Los Angeles Times has been editorially very anti union, anti communist and against the New Deal.
In the 1940 s the newspaper circulated 226,395 readers. The Daily News was runner up to the Los
Angeles Times; it circulated 221,000 copies in 1940. The Daily News was more liberal, against big
business and endorsed organized labor. Manchester Boddy gained control of the newspaper; he was a
veteran and republican that shifted gears during the Depression, becoming a Democratic supporter of
the New Deal. However, in order for the Daily News to keep its sponsorships it had to remain neutral
on local politics.
The California Eagle began publishing in the 1890 s. Charlotta Bass operated it from 1912 to 1951.
Many people in including Black Americans accused the paper and editor of being aligned with the
Communist Party. Bass refuted this by insisting that she had ties with the Republicans. In

Discrimination Of Racial Minorities On Social Economies
Discrimination of Racial Minorities in Social Economies The social economy comprises of a diverse
network of organizations and enterprises involved in various operations of society s economic sector.
Examples of such include; associations, foundations, cooperatives, and social enterprises, sharing
similar features and values. These features and values might include; democratic governance,
independent management, independence from general authorities, a combination of interests,
voluntary membership, re investment of gains, and defense of application (Quarter et al., 2009).

These social interests vary from small communities to large societies. However, in either case,
economic systems remain governed by noneconomic motives (Quarter et al., 2009). Social economy
organizations aim at earning either sizeable or entire portion of revenues accrued from marketplaces.
These organizations work effectively in private market sectors, and without any external aid such as
local or international government financing (Polanyi, 2014). The volume of social economy
organizations comprises of cooperatives with capital shares that accrue their revenues from market
zones. These include marketing cooperatives, food retailing cooperatives, and credit unions. Others
include commercial non profits such as Blue Cross, automobile associations, recreational institutions,
for example, the YM YMCAs (Quarter et al., 2009).
Characteristic Discrimination of Racially Marginalized Communities Discrimination of racially

As we all know that Video Game or Virtual Sport is one kind of art. Earlier this form of art was used
to only entertain people and it was a tool of entertainment and also for passing the leisure time.
However, now a days, many video games are not just a tool of entertainment, but also a tool to reform
a society. The mentioned games earlier in this paper are some of them. The video game developers of
these games didn t make these games for money alone, but also with a view to change the whole
society and create a better place to live all the individuals equally. These games convey a very
important message to the students, parents and teachers. It focuses on the very important issues of our
society. In some of the high schools, colleges of Netherlands and Switzerland, The course instructors

The Process Of Emotional Management
As with friendship, it is difficult to describe and analyze emotions without the discussion of Aristotle.
He again pioneered the way of our understanding of emotions throughout his dedication to rhetoric as
judgment, his concern for the subject provided an opportunity to develop sustained thoughts about
emotions (Leighton, p. 144). The process of emotional management will consider heavily the need for
emotional intelligence and a deeper understanding of a leader s emotions, and the emotions of his or
her surrounding leaders and followers. The following quote, which was translated from Aristotle s
writings, infers that all of our emotions move people, and specifically leaders, towards a particular
judgment, including the severity of the judgment or the direction of the overall judgment of leaders.
For it does not seem the same according as men love or hate, are wrathful or mild, but things appear
altogether different, or different in degree; for when a man loves on whom he is passing judgment, he
either thinks the accused has committed no wrong at all or that his offense is trifling; but if he hates
him, the reverse is the case. And if a man desires anything, and has good hope of getting it, if what is
to come is pleasant, it seems to him that it is sure to come to pass and will be good; but if a man is
unemotional or in a bad humor, it is quite the reverse (Leighton, p. 144). Aristotle s description of
emotions, and how they impact our judgments, widens the scope of our

Effects of Alcohol on Coordination Essay examples
BIO103 Environmental Biology Effects of Alcohol on Human Coordination
Introduction:
Alcohol is known to produce many chronic abnormalities that are attributable to parietal lobe
dysfunction. The self becomes aware of the body being a distant object but it feels a strange
attachment feeling (Miller et al, 1991). Considerable laboratory research indicates that different levels
of alcohol consumption contributes to overall behavioural and cognitive functions and therefore the
reason for carrying out this study is to test the effects of alcohol on human coordination. According to
Allum et al (1998) Alcohol effects information received by brain receptors causing the working ones
to compensate for the defective information processed by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although this is the case, the investigation was poorly set out. Only one standard alcoholic drink was
consumed which, as shown in the data, isn t enough to lose coordination unless the subject had
extremely low tolerance to alcohol. Subjects were not discriminated by age gender and body weight
which would have shown different results if these points were discriminated against and would have
displayed a stronger correlation between the effects of alcohol on human coordination. The sample
was not large enough to show a strong enough correlation between alcohol and coordination in the
data therefore making the test inaccurate. Overall it seemed that as the subjects had more practice at
the game, the better they became.
In a past investigation carried out by Patel et al (2010), three groups of adults were assessed at 0.00%,
0.06% and 0.10% blood alcohol concentration to assess if alcohol affected body coordination.
Subjects were asked to rate their drunkenness on a scale from 1 to 10 for each group. Results had
shown that their score had no effect on body movement coordination patterns but those who consumed
a higher amount of alcohol experienced a more significant effect on their coordination due to blood
alcohol concentration. In this experiment, the groups showed a larger correlation between effects of
alcohol on human coordination and therefore more accurate

Critical Sketch Of Waiting For Godot
You re on earth. There s no cure for that. Samuel Beckett.
Samuel Beckett was born on April 13, 1906, in Dublin, Ireland. He was a novelist, playwright, theatre
director and poet. He received his Bachelor s degree from Trinity College in 1927. Then in 1928,
Samuel Beckett found a welcome home in Paris where he met and became a devoted student of James
Joyce. He spent most of his adult life in Paris. He wrote both in French and English and sometimes
translated his own plays in English. His first play Waiting for godot came out in 1953. This is one of
his most famous plays, which is considered to be the beginning of Theatre Of The Absurd. Beckett s
work offers a bleak, tragicomic outlook on human existence, often coupled with black comedy ...

It took time and many mixed reviews for the audience to finally get it. When Godot was played in
America, it was dismissed at first and came back later with better advertising and new director. So by
the time Endgame released, people were familiar with Beckett s work and understood it at a better
level. Beckett himself believed Endgame to be a better play, and considered it as one of his favourites.
This can be understood by the correlation between Beckett s beliefs and this play which better

Cellulase Producing Microorganisms Essay
Cellulase producing microorganisms
In nature, a wide variety of microorganisms, belonging to the eukaryotic (fungi) and prokaryotic
(eubacteria and actinomycetes) groups are known to produce cellulases (Gautam et al., 2012). Their
cellulolytic systems, however, vary from the free form in the aerobes to the complexed cellulosomes
in the anaerobes. The cellulose degraders can also be classified among the mesophilic and
thermophilic groups. Their physiological characteristics determine the type of environment inhabited
by them. However, the cellulolytic potential of cellulases from physiologically diverse microbial
sources is exploitable in various applications based on their specific relevance. Table 1 shows the list

Thus, the foremost step in the biochemical conversion is the pretreatment of the biomass, which
involves the deconstruction of the cell wall into its components, i.e., the lignin, hemicellulose and
cellulose (Sun and Cheng, 2002; Kumar et al., 2009). The biomass can be pretreated using different
physical, chemical, biological or combination of these methods (Kumar et al., 2009). Each method has
its own advantages and limitations. The suitability of the pretreatment method depends on the type of
the biomass feedstock (Khare et al., 2015). The efficiency of the pretreatment step, however, is the key
factor determining the yield of the hydrolysis in the cellulosic ethanol production process (Alvira et
al., 2010) as it ensures the accessibility of the carbohydrate polymers for their subsequent hydrolysis
in the fermentable sugars. In the next step, i.e., the saccharification, the celluloses and hemicelluloses
are hydrolysed into C6 and C5 sugars with the help of cellulases and hemicellulases enzymes
respectively (Sarkar et al., 2012). The last step involves the conventional approach of fermentation of
C6 and C5 sugars into ethanol using either native or genetically modified ethanologenic microbes
(Gnansounnou and Dauriat, 2005).
The biomass saccharification can also be carried out using a chemical method of two stage

Introduction. The Book Of Acts Is Often Referred To As
Introduction The Book of Acts is often referred to as the Acts of the Apostles; however, the goal of
this paper is to demonstrate the importance of the acts of the Holy Spirit in this book. Drumwright
points out that in the 68 chapters of the Synoptic Gospels there are only 34 references to the Holy
Spirit. Compared to the 28 chapters of Acts there are 56 references to the Holy Spirit. The abundance
reveals Luke s desire to reveal the person, presence and power of the Holy Spirit. This paper outlines
how Luke unfolds the personal and powerful Holy Spirit who presses believers to bring the gospel to
the world, thus empowering the fulfillment of the Great Commission (Acts 1:8).

Peter states that Jesus received the promised Holy Spirit from the Father. Afterward, Jesus poured the
Spirit out onto the believers (Acts 2:33). The Apostle Peter makes the idea clear that the gift of the
Holy Spirit is not only for those who are listening to him, but for all who will believe. Peter refers to
the Prophet Joel when he says the promise of the Holy Spirit is for their children and all who are afar
off. (Acts 2:39a) Drumwright points out that six times in Acts the Spirit s ministry is described as the
gift of the Holy Spirit. The gift of the Spirit empowers people for service, witness and mission for
God.
Luke also demonstrates that the Spirit instructs, informs and animates the community of believers.
God has bestowed the Holy Spirit to allow those in Jesus to see, hear and speak with His supernatural
power and insight. All the above characteristics speak to the person of the Holy Spirit.
Scripture uses the effect of filling (Acts 4:8; 7:55; 9:17; 11:24; 13:9), indwelling (Act 6:5; 10:44) and
baptism/immersion, (Acts 1:5; 2:38; 11:16) in the Holy Spirit to express how the Spirit is obtained by
believers. The Holy Spirit is not new, Filling with the Spirit was a phenomenon believers also
experienced at various times in the Old Testament economy (Exod. 35:30 34; Num. 11:26 29;1 Sam.
10:6, 10). When the Spirit makes an appearance in the Old Testament, He usually speaks with or

How Does One Rebuild a Failed Movie
Today, a brief one. Just how does one rebuild a failed movie in such a way as to make it an enjoyable
experience for the viewer? Case in point: Drive Angry. Here s what my favorite place says about this
motion picture: Drive Angry is a 2011 American action film starring Nicolas Cage and Amber Heard,
and directed by Patrick Lussier. It was released on February 25, 2011. Shot in 3 D, the film was met
with a mixed reception and grossed almost $30 million....The film has received mixed reviews from
critics. It currently holds a 45% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 111 reviews, and an average
rating of 5.3/10. James Kendrick said it was loud, vicious, tasteless and inane . He then went on to say
it thunders at you from every direction with a wild abandon that is more irritating and desperate than
enlivening . Mark Jenkins from the Washington Post commented that Even at its most lurid, though,
the movie is a little dull. It only gets less compelling as the back story fills in. Thomas Layer from the
Toronto Telegraph said the film was an abysmal nightmare and that this film was more evidence that
Nicolas Cage is a monotone, uninspiring thespian whose films should be avoided at all costs . On the
other hand, Elizabeth Weitzman from the New York Daily News wrote, Drive Angry is pure
grindhouse, so committed to its own junkiness that it is, in its way, a pleasure to behold. The Evening
Standard film critic Stewart Pulsey praised the film for its resilient desire to unmask

A Comparison of the Founding Documents for the United States of America

A Comparison of the Founding Documents for the United States of America This document will
provide a brief comparison and synopsis of some of the most important writings of our time: The
Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson s letter to the Danbury Baptists, and the U.S.
Constitution. Also, this will be an analysis of what I believe the signers of the Declaration of
Independence and the U.S. Constitution thought about the separation of church and state, as well as
God from government. The Declaration of Independence was written on July 4, 1776 by Thomas
Jefferson. Its purpose was to officially separate the colonies from Great Britain ... Show more content

I tried defining specific things in the Constitution such as secure blessings of liberty (Delegates,
2015). Secure can mean to make something stay where it is; to stay put. A blessing is something that
can be good provided by a higher being (God) and liberty means freedom. Therefore secure blessings
of liberty means to make sure the good things we have (blessings) because of a higher being (God)
and our freedom stays put and or not taken away from us. With the above synopsis of the three
important documents, I can now really compare them all. The Declaration is a statement to declare
freedom and separate from Great Britain, listing all the horrible things the king did for the colonies
reason to become independent, while the U.S. Constitution was written after, to be more specific to the
government and how that should be run. The Declaration was more of a broad, almost philosphical
view of what the US should be. The Constitution lays out the new government stating there will be a
Congress, President, and a Supreme Court. It further details the powers of each branch and how each
should be run. The Constitution was written by respresentatives of all the states; however the
Declaration was written by Jefferson and revised by the delegates of the 13 colonies. The letter
Jefferson wrote to the Danburry Baptists sparked a debate about the separation between church and
state and what that really means. There have been many interpretations of that over the

The Work At Home Policy
Introduction
Every code of companies have the pros and cons, so does work at home policy which KGDV was
trying to introduce. Whether the company decided to expand work at home policy at fast speed or
slow down the expansion, the side effects caused by the policy that may bring about high moral
hazard in the company would become most likely apparent in the long run and should be observed. In
order to demonstrate appropriate proposals for the problem, the essay will first outline two issues of
the programme. Then, how to build up trusts and encourage workers to communicate to minimize the
side effects from the aspect of leadership theories will be carefully argued. Finally, a summary of
proposals will be shown.
Two Side effects of the policy
There are two side effect issues that should be considered. Firstly Social deprivation is harmful
especially for KPO consulting firms such as KGDV because the projects which the company
undertook the offers of are basically allocated to teams and professional knowledge and numerous
information related to projects must be informed well among all the members of the team. As quoted
by Susanne Braun that nowadays, organizations predominantly team based structures require leaders
to lead and motivate not only individuals but also teams as a whole (2007, quoted in Braun, Peus,
Weisweiler, and Frey, 2013, p.270), how leaders of teams behave with members of the teams is one of
the great factors to maintain the company s high morale. Secondly,

Factors Of The Aging Pilot
The Aging Pilot Over the past years, the average age of pilots has been slowly increasing with Airline
Transport Pilots specifically having the most of their pilots being age 50 or older (refer to Appendices
A and B). Considering how aging affects every physiological system that a pilot depends on to fly
safely, and with the increasing age statistic, the question of how a person s age affects his or her ability
to fly must be asked. Therefore, when looking at studies researching the effect of age on piloting
skills, one can see that there is a distinguished effect caused by age on piloting skill and that the said
effect can be reduced or eliminated with appropriate training or piloting experience.
The Effects of Aging on Piloting Skills To first understand how aging effects piloting skills, one must
understand how aging affects the physiological systems and skills that all pilots depend upon. Simply
put, the accuracy of vision, hearing, and memory tends to decrease with age (AOPAAir Safety
Institute).
Vision
Of the factors people experience with their vision while they age, a narrowing visual field, less
accurate distant and near vision, the inability for the eyes to focus quickly, and degrading night vision
are some of the more common factors that pilots experience (AOPAAir Safety Institute). When placed
into a practical experiment that was reported in the Aviation, Space, and Environmental Medicine
journal, it was found that older pilots older pilots may have had

While reading the semi autobiographical, Bastard Out of Carolina, by Dorothy Allison, I was stunned

Movement started with the news of one eight year old orphan named Mary Ellen Wilson. After the
passing of her biological mother and father, Mary Ellen was left in the care of her biological father s
widow, Mary McCormack Connolly. Mrs. McCormack Connolly badly mistreated Mary Ellen, and
neighbors in the building were well aware of the child s predicament (Mary Ellen Wilson, 2013). It

noticed Mary Ellen s condition. Ms. Wheeler describes her first meeting with Mary Ellen, as such:
It was December and the weather bitterly cold. She was a tiny mite, the size of five years, though, as
afterward appeared, she was then nine. From a pan set upon a low stool she stood washing dishes,
struggling with a frying pan about as heavy as herself. Across the table lay a brutal whip of twisted
leather strands and the child s meagre arms and legs bore many marks of its use. But the saddest part
of her story was written on her face in its look of suppression and misery, the face of a child unloved,
of a child that had seen only the fearsome side of life. These things I saw while seeming not to see,
and I left without speaking to, or of, the child. I never

Compared To The Ten Commandments
The Ten Commandments explains how we should live our lives to return to Heaven. The entire
document explains why God is mad at the people and what they should do to be better. 8Once he is
done stating what the commandments are to Moses, Moses then goes to declare this to the people and
that they should not fear God. The document then goes to say that the people should not make images
or statues of gold and silver. The people should make Him, or God, an altar to make peace offerings,
but it is to be made of whole stone (Joshua 8: 30, 31). The sacrifices of sheep and oxen are to be the
first born and unblemished; natural. On the last verse it is saying that God said he wanted not stairs to
the altar, but more of a ramp so that their nakedness be not discovered . Maat was a Goddess for
justice and truth, for the people of high and low Egypt. Throughout the beginning of the document it
proclaims who Maat is and how she ruled. It shows what kind of person she was by these rules. She
ruled with a heart of peace and kindness, hoping for innocence and harmony. Maat did have some
laws that were repeated, although they had something to add. Compared to the Ten Commandments
Maat s laws was more of a society law to a way of life and how to live. The laws of Maat are for
justice and truth and to live in peace.

This demonstrates Preparation as the young girl knew that Baba Yaga would use her, so she was

Oonagh was very prepared even with little amount of time. After Finn McCool made the bridge he
realised he did the wrong thing and led The giant to his house. Even with little time Oonagh was

The young girl and Oonagh certainly have similar characteristics to make them heroes of the story.
There are many more Characteristics that make heroes, the hero of their story.
Gilgamesh and Oonagh share parallel characteristics which both have Bravery. They show bravery in

The God, Son, And Holy Spirit, By Dr. Bruce Ware
Would God have chosen to reveal himself to us as the one God who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
unless he knew that this would be important to our understanding of him and of our faith? Must it not
be the case that God cares greatly that we get it, that we see him for who he is? And must it not matter
to our own lives, whether or not we understand him as the triune God that he is? (13) This is the very
heart of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit: Relationships, Roles, and Relevance, by Dr. Bruce Ware,
Senior Associate Dean and Professor of Christian Theology, at the Southern Baptist Theological
Seminary in Louisville, KY. The book was initially written for the purpose of teaching at a pastor s

perseverance of his secretary and Dr. Ware s gifted theological teaching, we now have what one critic
considers a thorough theological treatise that any biblically literate layman can understand. (Paige

doctrine. Understanding the doctrine of the Trinity is essential to the Christian faith, which is the
central goal of this book. The main focus of this study is to examine the ways in which the three
Persons of the Trinity relate to one another, how they relate to us, and what difference this makes to
our lives. Dr. Ware accomplishes this through discussing the wonder of each

The Current Outbreak Of Ebolavirus
On the 8th of August 2014 the World Health Organisation declared the current outbreak of Ebolavirus
to be an international health emergency. This epidemic is the largest ever seen of the disease, and is
located in West Africa particularly in Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. At present it has led to over
5,000 deaths, with more than 14,000 people having been infected.
Ebola virus disease (EVD) has been portrayed by some as a major threat to health outside of West
Africa, though this is disputed. There is currently no fully tested prophylaxis nor treatment available,
and the disease has a relatively high case fatality rate. The combination of these factors has resulted in
the disease being prominently discussed in the media around the world, and has generated a large
amount of public interest. The question we are addressing is what would possibly lead to an outbreak
in Europe, and discussing the controls and surveillance presently employed.
Background of the virus
EVD is a disease predominantly affecting humans and other primates. It is caused by members of the
Ebolavirus genus in the Filoviridae family, which are single stranded RNA viruses. There are five
species of Ebolavirus, with the current outbreak being caused by Zaire Ebolavirus (ZEBV). The
different species vary in their fatality rates and geographical distributions (2).

Reflecting back at this I never wanted to do nursing, I feel I only made this decision because it is what
my mother wanted to do this when she was younger. This could relate to Bandura s theory of social
learning, this because even though Bandura believed classical and operate condition contributed
towards social learning, he also believed two other factors effected this, which are imitation and
identification (Learning theories in childhood, Gray,C). This relates to me and my college degree as I
identified myself with my Mother and imitated her dreams and behaviours. Going into college I went
in with a fixed mind set, (Dweck, 1998). This is because I did not really want to do nursing in the
future, felt like I couldn t learn anything, believed I was smart enough to do it and was also facing
some mental problems at the time. At this period of education I did not attend many of my lessons and
I had no motivation to learn. This strongly related to Carr and Claxton (1995). Claxon (1995) believed
you had to be ready, willing, and able to learn and at that time in my life, I was not. According to
Perkins et al (1995) Dispositions are based in the belief systems, values and attitudes as equally as it is
in your cognitive structure . As well as this disposition is linked with the idea of our possible selves
and at the time I was not mentally in the right place, meaning this effected what my idea of myself
actually was. To link this in with my college experience, at the time my idea of my self was that I was
worthless therefore I believed I was worthless and did not believe I could make it through college.
This could have also related back to my experiences in primary school ( mentioned in the essay
earlier) due to not feeling good enough. This could have contributed to me later dropping out. This
could be because I had already have formed these beliefs and values prior to coming to

American History X By Tony Kaye And Written By David Mckenna
American History X Almost one week before I started to take this class, I watched American History
X for the first time. When I learned we are going to do this project, this movie was on my mind and I
did not surprise at all when I saw it in our movie list. Since the beginning of the semester, everything
related to multiculturalism in this movie is becoming clearer to me. Multiculturalism is a huge issue,
especially the country like the US which has many different races. One of the first things I learned
about multiculturalism is; it can be both negative or positive ways. If the different races do not accept
each other, it can be interpreted in a negative way. This movie is a great example of showing the
negative way of the multiculturalism. I see a really big conflict between races in the movie. American
History X is a 1998 American crime drama film which directed by Tony Kaye and written by David
McKenna. Edward Norton is the lead actor as Derek. Even though he is one of my favorite actors, I
never had a chance to watch this movie before. After I watched his tremendous performance in this
movie, I understand why the Academy nominated him the second time for the best actor award. One
interesting fact about the movie, even though it is about multicultural issues in the US, we see
everything from a white point of view. As a result, Academy chooses a white actor as nominee for the
award as usual. It is just so interesting to me. The story of the movie is about two

Other name for the Russian Orthodox Church is Eastern Orthodox Church, it s also known for being autocephalous. The Russian Orthodox Church believes the bible to be the world of God, in other words it is trinitarian. In the novel, Animal Farm the church is represented as Moses the raven. Moses comes and goes and tells the animals about Sugar Candy Mountain. The Russian Church has been around since 1448, but the metropolitans of Kiev were the head of the church. INTRODUCTION The Vedic period also referred to as the vedic age was that period in the Indian History during which the Vedas, the oldest scriptures of Hinduism were composed. The Indo Aryans, settled in North India were very closely related to the Vedic Age and its inception. They played a key role in bringing in specific religious traditions and customs which is commonly referred to as the Vedic Civilization. In the civilizations early days, it was a tribal and pastoral society based in the northwestern parts of the Indian Subcontinent. It spread to the Ganges Plain after 1200 BCE shaped by the increasing settled agriculture, a hierarchy of four social classes and the unfolding of monarchial, state level polities. • 5. Wolf Spider Predation ABSTRACT In Cautious versus desperado males: predation risk affects courtship intensity but not female choice in a wolf spider the courtship displays of the wolf spider, Pardosa milvina were investigated. The wolf spider s courtship display in males includes raising their legs and shaking their bodies. The rate of a males leg raises is a signal of the assets the male has, females that mate with males with quicker leg raises had more progeny and these left the egg sac faster and lived longer. Rypstra et al. wanted to determine if male wolf spiders that differ in assets and quality would behave differently under the risk of predation and wondered if the differences in reactions would affect how females choose their mates. This study consisted of two experiments, in the first experiment they determined that the symmetry of the front legs of males was related to their rate of leg raises, this was used as a measure of male quality. They used this measure in the second experiment when they explored how Tigrosa helluo predator cues changed the males courtship behaviour. It was determined that predation cues did not have an effect on whether mating happened between males and females and a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe that higher quality males should perform their courtship display at a lower intensity when predator cues are present, while lower quality males should increase their displays. This is because higher quality males long term reproductive options are more evident and lower quality males may become desperados and showoff whatever assets they have in a desperate attempt to convince a female to mate with them. If females can judge whether a male is of high or low quality then even when there is risk of predation, they will mate with the males that are of higher quality (Rypstra et al. ... Multiprocessor systems have been used for many years, and high end programmers are familiar with the techniques to exploit multiprocessors for higher performance levels. In recent years a number of other techniques to further exploit TLP have been discussed and some products have been announced. One of these techniques is chip multiprocessing (CMP), where two processors are put on a single die. The two processors each have a full set of execution and architectural resources. The processors may or may not share a large on chip cache. CMP is largely orthogonal to conventional multiprocessor systems, as you can have multiple CMP processors in a multiprocessor configuration. Recently announced processors incorporate two processors on each die. However, a CMP chip is significantly larger than the size of a single core chip and therefore more expensive to manufacture; moreover, it does not begin to address the die size and power considerations. Another approach is to allow a single processor to execute multiple threads by switching between them. Time slice multithreading is where the processor switches between software threads after a fixed time period. Time slice multithreading can result in wasted execution slots but can effectively minimize the effects of long latencies to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout the book Au Revoir Les Enfants Louis Malle highlights at several points the typical associations which the majority of people have when discussing the role of the Germans during the war. However Malle approaches the topic from a more complex angle thus forcing the reader to question the general stereotypes and examine the varying attitudes of both the French and Germans, by portraying them in certain situations in which they adopt a sometimes unexpected attitude. During a scene in the beginning of the book whilst the boys are out in the village they encounter a group of German soldiers, Malle exposes this situation in order to immediately draw attention to the general hostility and fear which is evoked by the Germans. ... At this point in the book, Malle has succesfully introduced to the reader a controversial theme which demands a lot of thought and consideration, as we are made aware that not all German soldiers had the same principles. Continuously, it must be taken into account that the attitudes of the French differed during the war also, and it would be unfair and blatantly wrong to assume that the Germans were simply bad and the French were good , which is a common misconception. The restaurant scene is essential in under lining the way in which Malle does not see the French and Germans as merely black and white but instead evaluates each of their characteristics and exploits them thoughout many scenes in order to highlight the common misjudgements made by many people. • 10. Modern Film On Our Rational And Critical Thought Processes Frankfurt School philosophers fiercely debated the effects of modern film on our rational and critical thought processes. Max Horkheimer and Theodor Adorno assert film is an oppressive technology that makes us intellectually docile, while Walter Benjamin contests their assertion by recognizing film s liberatory potential. Although Horkheimer and Adorno make important points about the current relationship between film and the masses, they fail to acknowledge any possible changes to it. In the context of futurity, Benjamin presents a convincing argument the technology of film can create subjectivities that will help the masses assimilate into modernity. Horkheimer and Adorno s understanding of film reflects our current reality. Although Benjamin acknowledges film s current state, he envisions a future where film trains us to cope with the pressures of modernity. In The Culture Industry: Enlightenment as Mass Deception, Horkheimer and Adorno argue film oppresses our ability to think critically. They base their argument on how culture today is infecting everything with sameness (Horkheimer 94). That is, the ubiquitous nature of film infects everyone with identically diseased notions. The connotations of infection are clear: affliction, contamination, and disorder. For Horkheimer and Adorno, the infection (film created by the bourgeois cultural elite) forces us into a state of mental lethargy the masses uniformly accept film content with little resistance ... • 11. Communication In Communication Conversation is changing dynamically as society ushers in a new era of communication. Social media has been a revelation in the way society interacts with one another. It is often celebrated for the ability to connect individuals over extensive distances; however, it is quickly creating a disconnect between people communicating face to face. There are three prevalent issues plaguing modern society s interpersonal communication: Social media becomes an addiction, the interaction between reality and the online landscape, and social media teaches society to multitask. Social media has caused attention span to plummet and society has become increasingly enamored with an online world; thus, causing individuals to be detracted from their environment and less sociable in face to face communication. Renowned movie critic Roger Ebert had an interesting thought on why he believed social media was addicting. In Ebert s blog he wrote about the French word frisson and its meaning. A translation into English would show it means; a brief intense reaction. Ebert theorizes that humans search out for it often. Essentially, what Ebert is acknowledging is that he finds himself addicted to this frisson. He feels the need to search out the quick fix that social media provides. This indicates a possible explanation why society tends to be on their phone during lulled situations (Ebert). Individuals do this to search out frisson, and to distract themselves from their own perceived boredom. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It shattered not only the lives of city shipbuilders and merchants, but crippled local citizens as well. Summers in Saint John were typically dry and muggy, though on June 20, 1877 there was an eerie uncharacteristic breeze. Although the cause of the original spark remains unknown, it is believed to have started from McLaughlan Son s boiler shop or from a nearby sawmill. As wood is a naturally rapid burning agent, it led to the quick demise of many wood built city structures. The structures in the Market Square area burnt rapidly destroying over 80 hectares (200 hundred acres) and 1612 structures including eight churches, six banks, fourteen hotels, eleven schooners and four woodboats in just over a nine hour period. It was a period of despair, as men and women were completely drained after dragging bedding, pieces of furniture and other articles through the streets, a vain task in many cases, as the new places of refuge sought out often proved as unsafe as those that were deserted. Several business owners and residents lost everything they had ¬ leaving many Saint John natives with nowhere to go. Support quickly began to pour in from all around the world, with donations reaching in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder ( Ocd ) Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: A Brief Overview Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder that is characterized by constant intrusive thoughts (obsessions) that normally cause anxiety or distress which can only be alleviated by performing repetitive actions (compulsions) (Rahimi, Haghighi, and Shamsaei, 2015). Nearly everyone has experienced something similar to these obsessions and compulsions at some point in their life but this experience can only be labeled as OCD when it occurs at least one hour per day and correlates with high levels of distress (Abramowitz et al., 2010). It s important to distinguish the differences between the actual psychological disorder and informal use of the term OCD. For example, many people claim they have OCD because they are particular about how something is done such as doing the dishes or making the bed in the morning. However, true sufferers of this disorder suffer from great anxiety and torment from their obsessions and cannot restrain themselves from giving in to their compulsions (Huffman Dowdell, 2004, p. 462). OCD, according to the World Health Organization, is among the top ten most disabling medical conditions (Rahimi et al., 2015). There are two main components to obsessive compulsive disorder: obsessions and compulsions. The first component, obsessions, are unwanted intrusive thoughts, images, or urges that will constantly plague an individual s mind and cause tem a great source of anxiety and ... • 23. The Process Of Emotional Management As with friendship, it is difficult to describe and analyze emotions without the discussion of Aristotle. He again pioneered the way of our understanding of emotions throughout his dedication to rhetoric as judgment, his concern for the subject provided an opportunity to develop sustained thoughts about emotions (Leighton, p. 144). The process of emotional management will consider heavily the need for emotional intelligence and a deeper understanding of a leader s emotions, and the emotions of his or her surrounding leaders and followers. The following quote, which was translated from Aristotle s writings, infers that all of our emotions move people, and specifically leaders, towards a particular judgment, including the severity of the judgment or the direction of the overall judgment of leaders. For it does not seem the same according as men love or hate, are wrathful or mild, but things appear altogether different, or different in degree; for when a man loves on whom he is passing judgment, he either thinks the accused has committed no wrong at all or that his offense is trifling; but if he hates him, the reverse is the case. And if a man desires anything, and has good hope of getting it, if what is to come is pleasant, it seems to him that it is sure to come to pass and will be good; but if a man is unemotional or in a bad humor, it is quite the reverse (Leighton, p. 144). Thus, the foremost step in the biochemical conversion is the pretreatment of the biomass, which involves the deconstruction of the cell wall into its components, i.e., the lignin, hemicellulose and cellulose (Sun and Cheng, 2002; Kumar et al., 2009). The biomass can be pretreated using different physical, chemical, biological or combination of these methods (Kumar et al., 2009). Each method has its own advantages and limitations. The suitability of the pretreatment method depends on the type of the biomass feedstock (Khare et al., 2015). The efficiency of the pretreatment step, however, is the key factor determining the yield of the hydrolysis in the cellulosic ethanol production process (Alvira et al., 2010) as it ensures the accessibility of the carbohydrate polymers for their subsequent hydrolysis in the fermentable sugars. In the next step, i.e., the saccharification, the celluloses and hemicelluloses are hydrolysed into C6 and C5 sugars with the help of cellulases and hemicellulases enzymes respectively (Sarkar et al., 2012). Peter refers to the Prophet Joel when he says the promise of the Holy Spirit is for their children and all who are afar off. The gift of the Spirit empowers people for service, witness and mission for God. Luke also demonstrates that the Spirit instructs, informs and animates the community of believers. Also, this will be an analysis of what I believe the signers of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution thought about the separation of church and state, as well as God from government. I tried defining specific things in the Constitution such as secure blessings of liberty (Delegates, 2015). Secure can mean to make something stay where it is; to stay put. Therefore secure blessings of liberty means to make sure the good things we have (blessings) because of a higher being (God) and our freedom stays put and or not taken away from us. With the above synopsis of the three important documents, I can now really compare them all. The Declaration is a statement to declare freedom and separate from Great Britain, listing all the horrible things the king did for the colonies reason to become independent, while the U.S. Constitution was written after, to be more specific to the government and how that should be run. The Declaration was more of a broad, almost philosphical view of what the US should be. The Constitution lays out the new government stating there will be a Congress, President, and a Supreme Court. • 32. Factors Of The Aging Pilot The Aging Pilot Over the past years, the average age of pilots has been slowly increasing with Airline Transport Pilots specifically having the most of their pilots being age 50 or older (refer to Appendices A and B). Considering how aging affects every physiological system that a pilot depends on to fly safely, and with the increasing age statistic, the question of how a person s age affects his or her ability to fly must be asked. Therefore, when looking at studies researching the effect of age on piloting skills, one can see that there is a distinguished effect caused by age on piloting skill and that the said effect can be reduced or eliminated with appropriate training or piloting experience. The Effects of Aging on Piloting Skills To first understand how aging effects piloting skills, one must understand how aging affects the physiological systems and skills that all pilots depend upon. Simply put, the accuracy of vision, hearing, and memory tends to decrease with age (AOPAAir Safety Institute). Vision Of the factors people experience with their vision while they age, a narrowing visual field, less accurate distant and near vision, the inability for the eyes to focus quickly, and degrading night vision are some of the more common factors that pilots experience (AOPAAir Safety Institute). • 34. Child Abuse and it s Role in Bastard Out of Carolina by... While reading the semi autobiographical, Bastard Out of Carolina, by Dorothy Allison, I was stunned by the explicit nature of the novel. We were introduced to a young narrator and protagonist named, Ruth Anne Bone Boatwright. Bone s family, like that of the author, experienced a impoverished life, all the while she tried to find her place in a society that had literally labeled her illegitimate. Merriam Webster defines illegitimate as being: (1) not recognized as lawful offspring; specifically: born of parents not married to each other (2) not rightly deduced or inferred illogical (3) departing for the regular erratic (4) not sanctioned by law illegal (5) not authorized by good usage. As a young girl, how would it feel being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was not until the early 1870s that child abuse was first brought into light. The Child Protection Movement started with the news of one eight year old orphan named Mary Ellen Wilson. After the passing of her biological mother and father, Mary Ellen was left in the care of her biological father s widow, Mary McCormack Connolly. Mrs. McCormack Connolly badly mistreated Mary Ellen, and neighbors in the building were well aware of the child s predicament (Mary Ellen Wilson, 2013). It was not until Etta Angell Wheeler, a caring Methodist mission worker, visited the residence and noticed Mary Ellen s condition. Ms. Wheeler describes her first meeting with Mary Ellen, as such: It was December and the weather bitterly cold. She was a tiny mite, the size of five years, though, as afterward appeared, she was then nine. From a pan set upon a low stool she stood washing dishes, struggling with a frying pan about as heavy as herself. Across the table lay a brutal whip of twisted leather strands and the child s meagre arms and legs bore many marks of its use. But the saddest part of her story was written on her face in its look of suppression and misery, the face of a child unloved, of a child that had seen only the fearsome side of life. These things I saw while seeming not to see, and I left without speaking to, or of, the child. I never ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Compared To The Ten Commandments The Ten Commandments explains how we should live our lives to return to Heaven. The entire document explains why God is mad at the people and what they should do to be better. 8Once he is done stating what the commandments are to Moses, Moses then goes to declare this to the people and that they should not fear God. The document then goes to say that the people should not make images or statues of gold and silver. The people should make Him, or God, an altar to make peace offerings, but it is to be made of whole stone (Joshua 8: 30, 31). The sacrifices of sheep and oxen are to be the first born and unblemished; natural. On the last verse it is saying that God said he wanted not stairs to the altar, but more of a ramp so that their nakedness be not discovered . Maat was a Goddess for justice and truth, for the people of high and low Egypt. Throughout the beginning of the document it proclaims who Maat is and how she ruled. It shows what kind of person she was by these rules. She ruled with a heart of peace and kindness, hoping for innocence and harmony. Maat did have some laws that were repeated, although they had something to add. Compared to the Ten Commandments Maat s laws was more of a society law to a way of life and how to live. The laws of Maat are for justice and truth and to live in peace. Hale 2 This document compared to the others was pretty short and went straight to the point. The others had a story and something to tell with their laws, but this one just ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She also picked things that she needed, as she knew that she would need it. You are a kind hearted girl and I will tell you what I can help to you. Along the path, you will come across some objects. This demonstrates Preparation as the young girl knew that Baba Yaga would use her, so she was prepared to go and try to escape the house. Oonagh was very prepared even with little amount of time. After Finn McCool made the bridge he realised he did the wrong thing and led The giant to his house. Even with little time Oonagh was prepared to get him back to his land. You men are always boasting about your muscles, but sometimes you should use your brain instead. Oonagh definitely has Preparation as she was prepared to meet the Massive Giant and scare him to go back to his land. The young girl and Oonagh certainly have similar characteristics to make them heroes of the story. There are many more Characteristics that make heroes, the hero of their story. Gilgamesh and Oonagh share parallel characteristics which both have Bravery. They show bravery in different ways but make them both heroes. American Terrorism, Environment Style, written by Doug Bandow, predominantly deliberates about the acts/ views of eco terrorism. With close alliance to the title, the opening statement, Terrorists are loose in America eco terrorists (cite), expresses the emergence of eco terrorism. Eco terrorism, according to the Federal Bureau, is the use or threatened use of violence of a criminal nature against people or property by an environmentally oriented subnational group for environmental political reasons or aimed at an audience beyond the target, often of a symbolic nature (cite). The attacks ... • 39. The God, Son, And Holy Spirit, By Dr. Bruce Ware Would God have chosen to reveal himself to us as the one God who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, unless he knew that this would be important to our understanding of him and of our faith? Must it not be the case that God cares greatly that we get it, that we see him for who he is? And must it not matter to our own lives, whether or not we understand him as the triune God that he is? (13) This is the very heart of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit: Relationships, Roles, and Relevance, by Dr. Bruce Ware, Senior Associate Dean and Professor of Christian Theology, at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. The book was initially written for the purpose of teaching at a pastor s conference, but with the help of his diligent secretary was composed into a book. Through the perseverance of his secretary and Dr. Ware s gifted theological teaching, we now have what one critic considers a thorough theological treatise that any biblically literate layman can understand. (Paige Patterson) This theological treatise is divided into six main chapters, that each focus on the Trinitarian doctrine. Understanding the doctrine of the Trinity is essential to the Christian faith, which is the central goal of this book. The main focus of this study is to examine the ways in which the three Persons of the Trinity relate to one another, how they relate to us, and what difference this makes to our lives. Dr. Ware accomplishes this through discussing the wonder of each ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. The Current Outbreak Of Ebolavirus On the 8th of August 2014 the World Health Organisation declared the current outbreak of Ebolavirus to be an international health emergency. This epidemic is the largest ever seen of the disease, and is located in West Africa particularly in Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. At present it has led to over 5,000 deaths, with more than 14,000 people having been infected. Ebola virus disease (EVD) has been portrayed by some as a major threat to health outside of West Africa, though this is disputed. There is currently no fully tested prophylaxis nor treatment available, and the disease has a relatively high case fatality rate. The combination of these factors has resulted in the disease being prominently discussed in the media around the world, and has generated a large amount of public interest. The question we are addressing is what would possibly lead to an outbreak in Europe, and discussing the controls and surveillance presently employed. Background of the virus EVD is a disease predominantly affecting humans and other primates. It is caused by members of the Ebolavirus genus in the Filoviridae family, which are single stranded RNA viruses. There are five species of Ebolavirus, with the current outbreak being caused by Zaire Ebolavirus (ZEBV). The different species vary in their fatality rates and geographical distributions (2). The present outbreak began in a village called Guedecko (????) Guinea, with the disease quickly spreading to the capital, Conakry, as well ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Learning Disposition And Analysis This first assignment will be explaining my learning disposition and personal experiences of education and learning prior to starting at Sheffield Hallam University. This will focus on my different experiences and memories of education before starting my course, I will also relate any experiences to suitable theories and theorists. One the first entries in my journals and my earliest memories of education was reflecting what my learning style. I have always found it easier to learn from listening and taking my time, rather than jumping into work. At nursery, many of the children would want to go ahead and try out all the activities hands on, I on the other hand would always be sat waiting for the teacher to explain more and to receive instructions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Reflecting back at this I never wanted to do nursing, I feel I only made this decision because it is what my mother wanted to do this when she was younger. This could relate to Bandura s theory of social learning, this because even though Bandura believed classical and operate condition contributed towards social learning, he also believed two other factors effected this, which are imitation and identification (Learning theories in childhood, Gray,C). This relates to me and my college degree as I identified myself with my Mother and imitated her dreams and behaviours. Going into college I went in with a fixed mind set, (Dweck, 1998). This is because I did not really want to do nursing in the future, felt like I couldn t learn anything, believed I was smart enough to do it and was also facing some mental problems at the time. At this period of education I did not attend many of my lessons and I had no motivation to learn. This strongly related to Carr and Claxton (1995). Claxon (1995) believed you had to be ready, willing, and able to learn and at that time in my life, I was not. According to Perkins et al (1995) Dispositions are based in the belief systems, values and attitudes as equally as it is in your cognitive structure . As well as this disposition is linked with the idea of our possible selves and at the time I was not mentally in the right place, meaning this effected what my idea of myself actually was. To link this in with my college experience, at the time my idea of my self was that I was worthless therefore I believed I was worthless and did not believe I could make it through college. This could have also related back to my experiences in primary school ( mentioned in the essay earlier) due to not feeling good enough. This could have contributed to me later dropping out. This could be because I had already have formed these beliefs and values prior to coming to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. American History X By Tony Kaye And Written By David Mckenna American History X Almost one week before I started to take this class, I watched American History X for the first time. When I learned we are going to do this project, this movie was on my mind and I did not surprise at all when I saw it in our movie list. Since the beginning of the semester, everything related to multiculturalism in this movie is becoming clearer to me. Multiculturalism is a huge issue, especially the country like the US which has many different races. One of the first things I learned about multiculturalism is; it can be both negative or positive ways. If the different races do not accept each other, it can be interpreted in a negative way. This movie is a great example of showing the negative way of the multiculturalism. I see a really big conflict between races in the movie. American History X is a 1998 American crime drama film which directed by Tony Kaye and written by David McKenna. Edward Norton is the lead actor as Derek. Even though he is one of my favorite actors, I never had a chance to watch this movie before. After I watched his tremendous performance in this movie, I understand why the Academy nominated him the second time for the best actor award. One interesting fact about the movie, even though it is about multicultural issues in the US, we see everything from a white point of view. As a result, Academy chooses a white actor as nominee for the award as usual. It is just so interesting to me. The story of the movie is about two ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
