The Lessons On The Fish Strategy
Discussion After teaching the five lessons on the FISH strategy, the students were able to apply the
strategy during the post assessment. The students broke down the word families words into two parts;
the onset and rime. They found the rime of the word first and said it. Then the students hooked the
onset onto the rime to decode the whole word family word. By breaking the word apart into two parts,
the students were able to decode unfamiliar words. Implications The first day I taught my group, I had
them do a pre assessment where they read a story to me. I kept a running record to see what sight
words and decodable words they knew. The results of the pre assessment set the tone for the rest of my
lessons. For the next lessons, I implemented the FISH strategy with engaging activities. I taught the
students what the FISH strategy was and modeled how to use it on word family words. Then I
incorporated engaging activities for the students to perform using the strategy. Some of the students
caught on to the FISH strategy quicker than others. I worked more with the students who did not quite
understand the strategy as much. Some of the students struggled sitting still for the lessons, so I
decided to incorporate centers. The students were able to move around the room and participate in
centers that involved the FISH strategy. The students did really well with the centers and I was able to
observe them while they were

Irregular Intelligence
Intelligence Collection and Analysis Demands for Irregular Warfare According to Reiley (2008)
defining the sociological makeup target area is the most important aspect to conducting irregular
warfare (Reiley, 2008). According to Larson when assessing Irregular warfare, analysts need to begin
with an analysis that focus on gaining an overview of the origins and history of the conflict; what
classified and unclassified secondary analyses say about political, socioeconomic, and other drivers of
the conflict; and key fault lines or other structural characteristics of the conflict, for example the
nature of the coalition supporting the government and its challengers (Larson, 2008) (Reiley, 2008).

intelligence community and identified possible analytical methods for eliminating these challenges for
the intelligence community. History has shown us that when U.S. intervention into other states internal
conflicts the results are not always ideal. When the U.S. intelligence community was created in 1947
its goal was to target the threats posed by other nation states like and not the threats posed by small
guerilla warfare or irregular warfare. These types of conflicts require a different type of analysis, due
to the unpredictability and small units, the analyst needs to be much more precise and be constantly
monitoring the threat (Poppas Simon, 2008). Globalization has allowed for these minor actors to have
a major impact, making a detailed understanding of them, just as important as the collection of

Romanticism In Sonnet 20
Love is a common and frequent topic in the works of Renaissance poets, who followed the Petrarchan
tradition of celebrating love to an unattainable beautiful mistress: up to William Shakespeare, all male
sonneteers were structuring their poems around the image of a fair wealthy court lady. Shakespeare
does not adapt his works to the established standard, but adjusts the very standard to his own needs, or
as Sasha Roberts puts it, the poet writes against tradition (172). Basically, in his sonnets, William
Shakespeare revolutionises the unwritten rules of the Petrarchan ideal of sonnet writing by modifying
the category of love objects. This essay will focus on three major directions of this modification and
will illustrate them on the basis of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So, the fair youth steals also the most important traits from the classical image of the female beloved
in the Petrarchan tradition, embodying in such a way an ideal of a beloved and, naturally, taking over
the central position in the sonnets. This assumption of the utmost importance of the image of the
young man for Shakespeare s sonnet sequence resonates in Clarke s Love, Beauty, and Sexuality ,
where she mentions that in the sequence, the primary love object is the young man (197). As an
embodied perfection placed in the centre of the collection of love poems, the image of the fair youth
cannot stay unequivocal: at least two literary critics mentioned in this essay have different viewpoints
on the issue of the uniqueness of this male beloved. For example, Douglas Trevor argues that it is
William Shakespeare who introduces the image into the sonnet tradition. Contrastingly, Sasha Roberts
counters this theory by claiming that Shake speares Sonnets was not the first sonnet sequence to
celebrate male beauty (176). Taking into consideration both approaches, it is quite legitimate to
acknowledge if not the uniqueness but at least the rarity of the unattainable male love object in the

PCT s mainly assist patients can not do for their selves special needs while they are in the hospital or
other facilities. Also they must keep the patients room clean and sanitized at all times (What is a

PCT must be able to work with patients that may be uncooperative due to stress and illness. One is

Introduction: Does the size of a county s population have any correlation to the number of individuals
that are incarcerated within that county? Every year data is collected through the Annual Survey of
Jails (AJS) that provides information on the characteristics and make up of the Nation s jails and
inmates housed in these jails. The Offender Profile is another method of collection for the state of
Missouri, reporting important statistics about the offenders supervised by the Missouri Department of
Corrections. With this information, along with the county s census information on population

hundred and twenty page document, I found the information I was looking for, on page nine of this
file was a list of one hundred and twelve counties and their rank, prison population, population
estimate, and incarceration rate per 100,000. I converted this pdf page into excel and was able to

needed to make an unbiased selection to the information. With the data already converted into an excel
format I was able to run an excel formula (=RANDBETWEEN 1,112), and excel randomly assigned
numbers to each county. I then sorted the counties by newly, unbiased assigned number in numerical
order, and highlighted the top thirty rows. I copied this data over and used it in my scatterplots, (raw

He played with them, relaxed with them, and became young again by their acquaintance. Perhaps
most importantly though, he told them stories. On July 4, 1862, he told them the story that inspired a
classic, the story of Alice s Adventures Under Ground. This was a story he had been working on in
one way or another for nearly twenty years, but required little Alice s intervention to write. While
many events in the first manifestation of the story inspired by the Liddells remain in the work we read
today, months of planning and research moved the book away from parochial allusions and mere child
s play toward more advanced and reasoned ingenuity (Hudson 266). The story expanded from a
recanting of friendly outings to a tale of deep symbolism, psychology, and generational satire.
Each character in Alice s Adventures in Wonderland and its companion piece Through the Looking
Glass and What Alice Found There symbolizes something beyond a deck of cards, a storybook
character, or a figure of popular rhymes. We will begin with Alice herself. Alice is something more
than Carroll s hero. She is the free and independent mind (Empson 262). Alice symbolizes Carroll s
view of women. She was the queen to a man who had from early youth . . . sought the society of little
girls . . . compensating himself in part from his inability to form friendships with women of

Purchasing Drones The decision of purchasing drones for the purpose of local law enforcement to use
could be a negative and a positive. There are several states in the U.S. who do allow the purchase and
the usage of drones by local law enforcement. Some of those states consist of Texas and California;
but for the states on the East Coast (where Baltimore, Maryland resides); there is one state who allows
the purchase and usage of drones: Florida. There are several pros and cons on this issue. Some of the
pros and cons revolve around money, time, and the issue of individual rights. A drone is an unmanned
aircraft or ship guided by remote control or onboard computers. (Merriam Webster). It is also beyond
[the] line of sight: the GPS of a U.S. spy drone. (Dictionary.com). The issue that will be continuously
brought up will be the right of privacy. Will the usage of drones violate the Fourth Amendment? It can
be a violation if abused. The key word in the definition of drones IS spy. Is it spying if you are looking
at something in plain view, but the device is out of plain sight? The Fourth Amendment states that
every individual has the right to not have unreasonable searches and not without probable cause.
However, there are exceptions to the Fourth Amendment which includes the Plain View Doctrine. The
Plain View Doctrine states that if a law enforcement officer is in a place legally and sees criminal

Jane Eyre And Great Expectations
Jane Eyre Great Expectations Comparative Essay
The novels Jane Eyre and Great Expectations both take place in a capitalist society. Marx s
fundamental ideas are prevalent in both novels. Karl Marx is a German philosopher who challenged
capitalism with the creation of communism. Marx s most essential and recognized beliefs are that
class creates conflict, modern work is alienating, and class struggle is at the heart of the society. He
also believes that individuals affected by capitalism are often rugged, which he describes as putting
self interest above the needs of the community. (Tyson 60). In Jane Eyre, Jane questions other
characters beliefs on Marxism throughout the novel. In Great Expectations, characters challenge Pip
on his Marxist beliefs. Therefore, throughout the use of interclass relationships, classism and rugged
individualism, readers are able to observe how Jane challenges others Marxist beliefs and other
characters challenge Pip s Marxist beliefs.
In the novel Jane Eyre, we re able to see how interclass relationships of all kinds were frowned upon
within society. Jane is in love with her master, Mr. Rochester who comes from a much higher social
class than her. though rank and wealth sever us widely, I have something in my brain and heart, in my
blood and nerves, that assimilates me mentally to him . (Brontë 332) Marx s idea that class struggle is
at the heart of society is evident because the class differences between Jane and Mr.

Changing The Music Industry As We Know It
As time continues to change, so does the music industry as we know it. Artists of different races,
genders, and differing music styles continue to emerge and create top hits on the charts. However,
some of these artists chose not to associate with major record labels, or sell any of their music to them.
These are the people bringing about the real changes that ought to be recognized and discussed. For
this paper, I decided to look at the group Postmodern Jukebox, their background as a group, their style
of music, and route they chose in this business. I believe groups like Postmodern Jukebox are
changing the music industry as we know it through their commitment to producing unique music, and
allowing for a diverse following that encourages living out your own true identity. According to the
group s official website, Postmodern Jukebox was founded by a young college drop out, Scott
Bradlee, who was struggling with ideas of how to pay off his student debt when he reached out to
former college friends and talented musicians Chris Anderson, Ben Golder Novick, Brandee Younger
and Emma Walker to record a song together (PostmodernJukebox.com, n.d.). From there, Postmodern
Jukebox began to remake many popular pop songs with their own unique twist, with the first song
they recorded together as a group being Lady Gaga s song Paparazzi, that was later posted on Youtube
to become a huge success for them (PostmodernJukebox.com, n.d.). Starting a Youtube channel seems

Sexual Promiscuity In C. S. Lewis The Screwtape Letter
Until the Time Is Right
Originally created for good, the devil has destroyed the idea of waiting for marriage and turned sex
into something that today s society flaunts flagrantly and openly with little respect for its first
intention. God created sex for marriage and the devil has deceptively convinced people that it is fine

today s society and considered the normal and everyone is doing it, but is that logic really acceptable?

Separate But Equal Doctrine
Brianna Ellis Mrs. Holt M/J Law Studies 8 October 2017 African Americans were granted full
citizenship, by the Fourteenth Amendment, in the year of 1868; segregation did not end until almost a
hundred years later, in 1964. The separate but equal doctrine allowed segregation as long as blacks
and whites had equal facilities. During the time of separate but equal many debated whether this
doctrine was constitutional or not. The monumental Supreme Court cases Plessy vs Ferguson and
Brown vs Board of Education shaped America s society by deciding the constitutionality of the
separate but equal doctrine. In the year of 1896, the Supreme Court case Plessy vs Ferguson shaped
America s society by concluding that the separate but equal doctrine was constitutional. This all began
when Homer Plessy, who was one eighth black, sat in the white designated train car. He was arrested
because he was in violation of the 1890 Separate Car Act, which declared that all rail companies must
implement separate but equal accommodations for white and black passengers. Plessy contended in
court that the Act infringed upon the Thirteenth and Fourteenth Amendments. After two unsuccessful
attempts in lower courts, he took his case to the Supreme Court, which upheld the earlier rulings that
segregation is constitutional under the separate but equal doctrine. The Supreme Court decision for
Plessy vs Ferguson ruled in favor of Ferguson, 7 1. The majority found that the separate but equal
doctrine did not violate the Thirteenth and Fourteenth Amendment, while the minority found the
complete opposite. The majority identified the purpose of the Fourteenth Amendment as enforce[ing]

The aim of this experiment is to see how the resistance of a carbon coated piece of paper changes
when the different variables change.
Variables
A variable is a change in an experiment that could alter the outcome/results of that experiment, and for
this experiment the main variables are type of paper, width of paper, length of paper, and temperature.
We are going to be studying how changing the width of the paper affects the resistance, and so to

Preliminary Experiment
The purpose of the preliminary experiment was to decide on an appropriate length to keep the paper
constant at, and an appropriate shunt for the ammeter. The layout and format is the same as the main
experiment (see later).
We tested the various ammeter shunts, and decided to use the 10mA shunt, as it gave a reading in the
middle of the scale, whereas the other shunts had given readings off or almost off the scale.
We also found that 32.5cm was the optimum length for the paper, as it puts the reading at about 10 on
the scale, which is a good as it ensures that as we decrease the width (hence decreasing the amperes),
the readomg will not go off the scale as it was high to start with if we had started with a length that put
it at something lower like 3 to start with, it could have gone off the bottom of the scale and we would
have to start over.

The Era Of Discrimination By Jane Austen
The Era Of Discrimination Feminism can be defined by three major components: social, political and
economic equality of the sexes. Throughout history, women have battled to gain equality with men.
Elizabeth Bennet and other women have been suppressed from opportunities merely because of their
gender and have fought to be considered as equals to men. Women are far more than someone s wife
or daughter, they are more than just their counterparts, they are human beings. From a morality
standpoint, Elizabeth and other women should not be married off based on the need of survival but for
the need of wanting to be married for true love. Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen, displays
feminism through the aspects of women s dependence on men, class snobbery, and alienation.
In the 1800s, women s sole purpose in life was to find a suitable husband, women had no other choice
but to depend on a man for certain needs and wants. Most feminist studies have represented Austen as
a conscious or unconscious subversive voicing a woman s frustration at the rigid and sexist social
order which enforces women s subservience and dependence. (Morrison, 337). The protagonist in the
novel, Elizabeth Bennet defies the social norms of the 1800s by not wanting to marry solely for
economic gain. For example, Elizabeth is impoverished and needs to marry a man with good wealth
but she realises that with being in a loveless marriage comes with unhappiness. The daughters of the
Bennet family had

foundry job, Luc was educated and lived either a life of debauchery, or a life as a Jesuit. The two
vehemently opposed each other, but they both allowed Luc to live by privileged means. This idea
dictates that Santé believes the absence of parental income and support almost consigns the child into
a poor life near unchangeable, insinuating that Santé s identity is one driven by pessimism.
Santé also constructs identities for his parents, the two individuals featured apart from himself. He
does this not by describing their characteristics and idiosyncrasies, but by stating the major events
they were involved in that eventually shaped his life. Often throughout Resume, Santé describes how
his parents shipped the family to a distant country, or at the very least away from Verviers, inevitably
failing in their quest to start a new, better life. It is also worth noting the one time Santé s tale
concludes as one of happiness and success, there is little parental involvement in his choices

My Favorite Experience Essay
Every summer, I visit my grandma s cabin in Estes Park. We have many traditions, like hiking and
going to the Old Fashioned Candy Shoppe. But one of my favorites is when we drive down to Fun
City and do golf, go carts and the Super Slide! Golf is always fun. They have eighteen holes of hills
and tunnels. I win occasionally. Oddly enough, my cousin, Bracken, wins a lot. And he is only four!
He doesn t even aim! I win at go karts half the time, the other half I start behind them and can never
seem to catch up! And the superslide! That thing is like a hundred feet tall! Not to mention the river! It
is so beautiful; it splits the Fun City complex in half. The bumper boats, go karts, golf course, and
arcade are on the far side. The two Super ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I had to spend most of my time working on height. I bounced probably twenty times to get my height
back up.Then I performed my second flip! I tucked, leaned, and flipped before striking the tramp and
doing it again. I lost enough momentum that I needed to bounce three times to regain height. I then
flipped forward, lowering my bounce height yet again. As I bounced again, I felt a spray of water from
the river hit my face, a smell of fish in the air. I fell again and bounced higher. I kept going as fast as I
could, knowing my time was at least half way up. I flipped again and again, never stopping. I went
and went. Forward, jump, back, jump, back, jump. Over and over and over. I eventually got high
enough that I had to do a double flip. I flipped forward as I went up, and again as I went down. I
barely made it before I hit the tramp. I bounced a few times to recover, then kept going, back, jump,
forward, jump, back, jump, regain height, back, jump. I went on and on and on. I was almost out of
time; I knew that. So I kept going. I had counted nineteen so far. I jumped twice, flipped, jumped,
flipped. Then I felt the workers lowering me down. I managed one more before I was too low, and I
kept jumping until was time to be unstrapped. I got off, a little wobbly and I walked to get my shoes
and take off the harness. When I was done, I watched my sister, Alex, finish up. I saw her do five flips

Essay about The Message in Spike Lee’s Movie Do the Right...
The Message in Spike Lee s Movie Do the Right Thing
In an attempt to enlighten audiences with a powerful message about the cancer that hate and violence
can bring to a society; writer, director, Spike Lee brings Do the Right Thing to the screen. Fusing a
powerful story with creative film making, Lee gives us an insider s look at life on a blistering summer
day in Brooklyn.
To create an atmosphere that both looks and almost literally feels like possibly the hottest day of the
year, Lee uses orange and yellow filters throughout the film. Objects, as well as people seem to glisten
in the light. Even scenes shot indoors have beams of light coming through windows and doors. The
use of lighting is only one technique Lee uses to create a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is accomplished with different camera angles as well as the movement of the camera. For
example, in many scenes as the camera follows the action it is shaky rather than sturdy, as if you as a
viewer are walking around and seeing the action through your own eyes. One may also notice that an
escalated level of action or conversation on the screen is mirrored by the pace of the film from frame
to frame. In essence, a heated argument would involve a quick paced transition of shots, going from a
close up of one character to another at a rapid pace in tune with the argument.
At the beginning of the film, we are introduced to a wide variety of characters. Mayor, an older
gentleman with a drinking problem, portrays neutrality in the film that is in sharp contrast to the
racism and discrimination that is harbored in most of the cast. Throughout the story, Lee has a way of
making this hatred between characters seem ridiculous to the point where it becomes humorous.
Perhaps as a way to make the audience look at hate as a joke, and to see it that way in their own lives.
However, slowly we begin to see that the hate towards others is stemming from frustrations within
their own lives, and is taken out on others in increasingly more harmful ways. In the end, we see this
escalating hate lead to violence and in turn to destruction for everybody.

Murder Conventions
In the film Memories of Murder, director Bong Joon ho utilizes a few different generic tropes rather
than just staying in one specific genre. To me, the two most obvious genres that he borrows from in
this film are crime and drama, but it has elements of comedy as well. The most prevalent genre in my
opinion is the crime genre. The story revolves around detectives, investigating a serial killer who rapes
and murders women. The entire plotline is clearly within the genre of crime, and I would say the only
subversion from this trope is that there is no resolve. Although the viewer thinks that they have caught
the killer, they do not have enough evidence to convict, and so they have to let him go. The killer is
never caught, and usually in crime ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Later in the film the song comes on the radio, and when the detectives check outside, it has started
raining. They try to call for backup to search the grounds near where the other bodies were found, but
all backup is busy. This is not only extremely dramatic, but also keeps with the crime drama as well
because all of the other police are occupied already. The darkness that comes with utilizing tropes
such as these is counteracted by Boon Jong ho s use of comedy. Throughout the film there is slight
play on the good cop/bad cop trope seen in so many crime dramas. The bad cop does nothing but drop
kick and beat suspects, until his kicking leg gets infected with tetanus and must be amputated.
Although this sounds like a serious moment, because of the situations the character is seen in (almost
all just getting into physical altercations) makes the moment humorous, because he will no longer be
able to perform his favorite activity. Although Memories of Murder is clearly both a drama and a
crime film, the director s use of comedy along with the subversion of the original genres helps to
offset the dark themes slightly, making the film more unique and

Bootlegger In The Great Gatsby

Taking a Look at the Great Recession
Many economists have come to consider the 2008 financial crisis as the worst recession since the
1930 s Great Depression. The recession led to the total collapse of financial institutions, the
withdrawal of banks by the national governments and the total collapse of stock markets across the
world. The housing market also suffered in many areas, which resulted in prolonged unemployment,
evictions and foreclosures. The crisis played a key role in the failure of significant businesses, the
decline in the wealth of consumers, estimated in trillions of American dollars, a downturn in economic
activities and the debt crisis of the European countries. On 9 August 2007, the Banque National de
Paris (BNP), a French bank and financial company whose global headquarters are located in London,
stopped withdrawals from three hedge funds citing a total evaporation of liquidity. This marked the
beginning of the active phase of the crisis. In 2007, the bursting of the housing bubble of the U.S was
at its peak. The bursting resulted in plummeting of security values tied to the U.S. real estate pricing.
The complex interplay of policies that provided easier lending of loans, overpricing of sub prime
mortgages, on a theoretical basis that the prices would continue to increase, and inadequate capital
holdings from insurance companies and banks to back their financial commitments contributed to the
bursting of the bubble (Boatright, 2010). During 2008, securities suffered huge losses due to

One of the earliest ancestors of homo sapiens that are known of is the tchadensis which is a member of
the genus Sahelanthropus. The S. tchadensis is a primitive human that lived about 7 million to 6
million years ago, it is believed that they lived in areas that would require walking on two feet such as
grasslands, as a result the S. tchadensis had the ability to partially walk on two feet. As time went by
the S. tchadensis evolved into the tugenensis, which is a member of the genus Orrorin. The main
difference between the S. tchadensis and the O. tugenensis is that the O. tugenensis developed two
femur bones which are used for walking on two feet, the O. tugenensis was around from about 6 to 5.8

The Seven Wonders Of The Ancient World
There are Seven Wonders of the Ancient World known today. The Hanging Gardens of Babylon, The
Great Pyramid of Giza, The Temple of Artemis, The Statue of Zeus at Olympia, The Mausoleum at
Halicarnassus, The Colossus of Rhodes, and The Lighthouse of Alexandria. With years of research on
all seven wonders, there are many questions left unanswered today. Most of these questions include
important facts about the status itself. Where were they located? Why were they created? What
happened to them? The most important unanswered question can be asked of all seven of these
wonders, did they even exist? These questions are raised by the curiosity of architects, scientists,
historians, and anyone with a bit of imagination with a love for history. We can only gather research to
get a glimpse into the ancient world and let our imagination take control until we can gather enough
evidence to be positive that yes, these seven wonders of the world did exist. All seven wonders of the
world had a powerful meaning behind them. A temple to worship, statues dedicated to Gods, and even
the burial ground of a great King and Queen. King of Caria Maussollos and his Queen Artemisia were
laid to rest in what is known as The Mausoleum of Halicarnassus. A tomb that was created by his

The Effects Of Diabetes Melllitus
Diabetes mellitus being a metabolic disorder shows a variety of characteristic biochemical parameters

Metformin restores increased blood glucose to normal levels in alloxan induced rats without causing
life threatening hypoglycemia. It reduces the blood glucose by inhibiting hepatic gluconeogenesis and
increases insulin stimulated glucose uptake by skeletal muscle and adipose tissues. It inhibits alpha
glucosidase and there by retards absorption of disaccharidases from the intestine by enhancing the
activity of AMP activated protein kinase (Chaturvedi, 2010; Nkambo et al, 2013). In the present study,
fenugreek was found to have a more potent action than that of metformin.
The urea, uric acid and creatinine levels were significantly higher in the diabetic rats compared to
those of control rats. This is because of the increased utilization of protein as a consequence of
impaired carbohydrate metabolism due to hypoinsulinemia (Finco, 1984). The serum urea, uric acid
and creatinine levels showed a decreasing trend in Wistar rats treated with 400 mg/kg of fenugreek.
When treated with 800 mg/kg of fenugreek the above three parameters showed a marked decrease
attaining a near to normal value when compared to that of the control rats (Khalid et al, 2010). This
indicates the increased peripheral utilization of glucose preferential to protein with a high dose of
fenugreek. When treated with metformin there was a reduction in the levels of serum urea, uric acid
and creatinine in diabetic rats. These results are similar to that of a previous study in which

Submission and Rebellion for Women in Childhood and Adulthood
Submission and Rebellion in Childhood and Adulthood
Submission and rebellion are two main topics in women s sufferings in literature that highlights
women entangled desire which causes her to perform her role in a male dominated society. The Wide
Wide World by Susan Warner and Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl by Harriet Jacobs reveals the
power relations between men and women, captor and captive, master and slave, are unstable and
subject to think. I examine here how these narratives deal with their circumstances from childhood to
adulthood. Both of these narratives suffer to survive. They adjust in their exotic foreign place from
childhood to adulthood. The main focus of this paper is how each of these texts negotiates issues of
power and powerlessness, race, gender, region, and historical moment.
In eighteen century is fundamentally interpreted by the traditional notion of gender role. The
identification of women role in the home and outside had a very deep root in western culture, and
identification was the dominant factor in the thinking process of gender role. In domestic theory or
domesticity defined in the multiple ideas of family, home that sees women in the domain of the home.
On one hand, women were seen as the angel of home, the center character of spiritual and moral of the
family. On the other hand, based on that knowledge women were sees as weaker than man both

Who Is Mr Wickham In Pride And Prejudice
Everyone has heard the saying never judge a book by its cover. Well this saying needs to be advanced
to say never judge a book by its first chapter. Meaning that one should never judge anyone after their

characters is Mr. Darcy, A character that when introduced is proud and generally not liked due to his
manner but as his character is more explained you see his humbleness and the goodness in his
character. There is also Mr. Wickham, who was introduced as a like character being in the militia and

man towards whom almost every female eye was turned, and Elizabeth was the happy woman by
whom he finally seated himself. (Austen 57.) In this perspective Wickman seems to be the kind of
man that any woman would be lucky to have causing Lydia to fall for him. While later we see the kind
of man he really is and how he only really cares about is money. If all the people were not blinded by
the good first impression of him they might not have let him blind them and ruin Mr. Darcy s

series of betrayals by one man destroys the trust that existed between the families and causes an
irreparable split between them. (Kaplan 1.) This shows that they had a rivalry which Elizabeth would
have wanted both sides on if she had not favored Wickham due to him being better in social situations.

Throughput Is A Efficient Measure Of Productivity
In the goal, throughput is defined as the speed in which the manufacturing process produces money
through sales. This compares with the traditional definition of throughput as the time it takes for a
product to enter the manufacturing process and leave as a finished good. I find Goldratt s definition to
be a more efficient measure of productivity. With the traditional definition of throughput it is merely
measuring the time it takes for a product to be produced from start to finish. However, this does not
take into account whether or not the finished products are being sold or sitting on a shelf. This is why
Goldratt s definition of throughput is more efficient measure because if the product is not being sold it
is not being accounted for. The second term defined is inventory, which is the amount of money the
manufacturing plant has spent on things they anticipate to sell. Traditionally inventory is defined as a
list of materials or parts in stock on hand for use. The Goal s definition is more accurate because it
takes into account other costs of the inventory not just the material itself. There are raw materials,
work in process inventory, and finished goods inventory. In the Goal they accounted for the holding
costs to store finished products not yet sold as inventory. The third term defined is operational
expense, is defined as the total money spent to convert inventory to throughput. This definition
separates expenses that do not contribute to converting inventory

Many of us have experienced a sublime moment. For instance, every time I check on Instagram, I see

For people, tigers are more interesting than sharks. Unfortunately, these animals more difficult to
appreciate than sharks because tigers lived in the jungle compared to sharks that they live in the ocean.
It is clear that many people find tigers are more sublime than sharks. Sadly, the only way for us to
appreciate more about this animal, the person must visit a zoo instead of visiting a jungle in India.
Definitely, tigers are more beautiful than sharks. Tigers can be seen with white and orange fur, but the
most important, tigers have many stripes. I have to say that tigers are definitely beautiful. My favorite
tiger is the white tiger because they have a beautiful white fur and, if not mistaken, some of them have
blue eyes. Anyone can fall in love with these animals. For instance, according to Gary Medina, there is
a story about a man named David Villalobos who jumped in the tiger enclosure at the Bronx Zoo.
There are people who find tigers as a spiritual thing just like Villalobos. This is probably someone
who wants to feel powerful. Many people like to look for power and danger in a sense to find the
meaning of life. For instance, we have seen people car racing on the streets because they want to feel
that power and danger, but many of them ended dead due to losing control of their car or committed
an accident.

Effects Of Teen Pregnancy On Children s Reproductive System
The United States has the highest rate of unplanned teen pregnancies amongst the most developed
countries in the world. Approximately 750,000 teens will become pregnant this year and with the lack
of resources to terminate those unwanted pregnancies more than ninety two percent of those teens will
become parents before graduating high school. Plan B one step emergency contraception is now
available over the counter as of August 2013 an although there has been a great debate on whether or
not the open availability to teens as young as fifteen will do more harm than good it does seem that the
positives have out weighted the negative since lowering the age restriction and making it available
over the counter. Since talk about raising the age limit back to seventeen with a prescription and
turning it back over to pharmacy counters the controversy has resurfaced. The subject of harm Plan b

themselves at risk without their parents knowledge have been main topics of decision. Plan B one step

Globalization of Korean Popular Culture in Asia
1. Introduction
Since 1990s, Korean Popular Culture has had a strong influence in Asian countries, including China,
Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan and Singapore. This new popular cultural phenomenon in Asia is called
the Korean Wave , also known as hallyu in Korean pronunciation, which refers to the surge of
popularity of Korean popular culture abroad, particularly in Asia(Kin 284). The Korean Wave is first
coined in mid 1999 by journalists in Beijing who are surprised by the fast growing popularity of

Compare And Contrast Porter s Five Forces And...
The global pharmaceutical industry is one that is seen to be riddled with misunderstanding and
confusion; however, many of the questions emerging companies have can be answered by a thorough
analysis of this industry and how these companies compare to one another on many different fronts.
Analyzing the global pharmaceutical industry can bring to light how we in the United States compare
on the grounds of industry attractiveness to our global counterparts.
Looking at Porter s Five Forces model and how it fits into the global pharmaceutical industry can start
to explain the true attractiveness of the industry. Buyer power tends to be the strongest force in this
industry due to the price control policies in state and private sectors that are a large determinant when
it comes to likeliness to purchase. Another issue is that medical professionals wield a significant
amount of power in what drugs are available to consumers or not. It is also to important to note that
entry barriers may include many governmental regulatory issues that will vary from country to
country and largely affect if specific drugs are allowed to be sold or not. Rivalry in the industry is also
very strong due to the strong competition between larger firms and smaller generic companies fighting
for the customer s loyalty. Supplier power is also important to note while looking at this industry
because the nature of the products being created require a lot of extra manufacturing and time. Due to

team leader on the movie, Misfire. Such a trait (leadership) is a major part of Mr. Donatelli s
characterization and is imperative for a thorough representation of his well versed, self disciplined
personality. (3) Whoopi Goldberg as Aunt Pearl: Aunt Pearl s hardworking and wise personality
cannot be played by any actor just as it cannot be taken lightly. That said, the award winning actor
Whoopi Goldberg is the ideal pick for the task. Having grown up with an example of a strong and
hardworking maternal figure, she will effectively provide Alfred with moral and familial context as
Aunt Pearl. Although she disapproves of the boxing, Aunt Pearl encourages him to become a
contender as she, too, had a dream at a young age, which she unfortunately could not fulfill. The
aforementioned experience helps her to understand what her nephew undergoes. (4) Will Smith as

Saudi Arabia Research Paper
Saudi Arabia
Economic statistical indicators convey the fact Saudi Arabia is a developed nation. However, close
analysis of political and social statistical indicators would suggest that their standard of living and
individual freedoms are severely suppressed. This developed nation has abnormalities in its statistical
indicators which are similar to those that characterises third world nations.
Saudi Arabia is oil rich and is a strictly Islamic State. Their Muslim religion and its strict adherence to
their interpretation of their holy book the Quran actively dominates citizens position and role in their
society. Even though they are a very modest nation in appearance, western countries are extremely

Economic Success
Saudi Arabia was a poor country until oil was discovered beneath the eastern deserts in the late 1930 s.
The country suddenly found itself very wealthy as it became an important exporter of oil in just a few
years. The price of the oil increased very dramatically from just $3 a barrel to over $40 a barrel. This
economic success ensured that the leaders became very wealthy. The GNP per capita is economically
sound. However, this figure is misleading. A large proportion of GNP is channeled towards the leaders
while a disproportionate sum is filtered to the citizens. A large amount of construction was initiated
using the revenues earned. However, most of the workforce consisted of cheap foreign labour while
the Saudi Arabian citizens suffer an enormous 25% unemployment rate compared to the United States
5% unemployment. This economic success dropped somewhat as oil prices dropped tremendously in
1998 1999. Large amounts of construction work were

The Importance Of Women In Hills Like White Elephants
We live in a society where the voice of a woman is not as strong as the voice of a man. We are looked
at as if our thoughts and emotions didn t matter at all. As if this world was just a man s world and
woman are just there to reproduce and do house work. We re not looked at as strong and powerful.
Being a woman now a days, I understand that; girls can be misleading, we tend to like getting the
attention and sometimes saying I m fine actually means that there are no words that can describe the
pain or happiness that we are feeling. Despite the fact that girls say, I m fine often, I don t think that
the girl in Hills like White Elephants was actually fine. Throughout the story, her tone wasn t very
convincing. It mostly sounded like she just wanted the conversation to be over. Therefor she decided
to say, I feel fine (Hemingway, 126), to talk about something else. When I say that girls can be
misleading , I m referring to the fact that what girls say is typically taken as something else. Others
hear I m fine and actually believe those words. Nobody stops to think about if the person is actually
fine or if they just want to move on form the conversation. To understand if the girl is actually fine, a
person must look at the persons expressions and tone of voice. If somebody were to say, I feel fine
with a sad and relaxed tone of voice, there s no absolute way of saying that the person is actually fine.
When they girl expresses to the guy that she is

Phonics
Phonics seems to play an essential role in pronunciation skills in young learners. The recognition of
phonic sounds helps with language acquisition, pronunciation and development of other skills like
reading, spelling and writing. Training the young learner s ear to recognize the phonic sounds is the
first step towards good pronunciation, comprehension, memory recall and fluency. Therefore, there are
really only two basic steps to learning a language: Master the perception and production of the sounds
and attach meanings to these sounds (Ness, 2012). Keywords: Phonics, pronunciation, language
acquisition. The Importance of Phonics in Teaching English Pronunciation to Young Learners There is
a common misunderstanding about the importance of pronunciation and language. Many people think
of language as being all about words and the grammatical structures and rules that contain them. But
in fact, language is about sounds and the meanings attached to them (Ness, 2012). Pronunciation is not
just important for language output, but also decoding and recognizing speech that is heard. While
attention is given to the correct pronunciation of words, there also needs to be attention on listening
skills. Sounds and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Phonics, teaches about the relationship between letters and combinations of letters and sounds. There
are 26 letters in the English alphabet, but, there are at least 55 sounds. Most are written by combining
letters in different ways. In schools throughout the English speaking world, it is used to help students
learn to read and spell quickly. By learning the relationship between the letters and their respective
sounds, the children use these skills to work out how to read and pronounce the words they see. It also
helps them to guess how to spell most words. This greatly increases the speed of learning. The focus
on identifying sounds also helps English learners with pronunciation and listening skills (Jenkins,

Tim Burton Film Techniques
Tim Burton creates mood and tone in his movie which is based on the book by famous author Roald
Dahl, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory , by using film techniques such as camera movements. Also,
being a director has a variety of tools compared to an author, directors have tools such as physical
props and images. Tim Burton creates a mysterious tone in his movie using camera movements. For
example in the movie the camera uses an low angle shot of the building. This help create a mysterious
tone because of how enormous the building is and what could possibly be inside of such a huge piece
of architecture. Being a director, you have a variety of techniques you can use to help create mood and

Dentistry as a profession over the years has evolved...
Dentistry as a profession over the years has evolved rapidly in light of new scientific evidence.
Rapidly evolving science and technology have implemented changes within dentistry as evidenced by
new standards and guidelines being produced by nationally recognised associations including National
Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE), Faculty of General Dental Practice (FGDP) and
Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN) in Scotland, in provision of new scientific
evidence. The latest standards and guidelines produced, endorse everyday clinical practice through
evidence based dentistry (REF). All dental professionals as part of continued professional

Since the inception of the National Health Service (NHS) in 1948, regular six monthly check ups at
the general dental practice have been common (REF). However the patient should not have
radiographs taken routinely based solely because of time elapsed since previous examination. X rays
should only be taken after a thorough clinical examination and would be justified after a caries risk
assessment was undertaken with the patient categorised as being high, moderate or low caries risk
(REF).
In the event that after a thorough clinical examination and an updated medical history, the patient is
categorised as being high caries risk, FGDP guidelines support the taking of bitewing radiographs in
both children and adults at the initial examination. Six monthly bitewing radiographs are advised for
individuals who fall into the high caries risk status until no new or active lesions become apparent
(REF). However it is important not to take radiographs frequently and to reassess the patients risk
category, supported by a clinical examination and an updated medical history in order to justify using
this interval again (REF).

Essay on Envy and Beauty in Snow White
Envy, Beauty, and Snow White Few people can grow up within today s society without knowing the
tale of Snow White. From the Grimm Brothers to Disney, it has been told and retold to children
throughout the ages. However, what is often overlooked are the true meanings within the story.
Fairytales typically have underlying messages that can be found written between the lines, generally in
terms of the key themes. Snow White discusses the themes of envy and beauty, and shows how
humans obsessions can lead to their own downfall as well as the harm of others. When focusing on the
relationship between Snow White and her step mother the Queen, it is evident that the combination of
these two themes results in a power struggle in which beauty ... Show more content on

Trina Schart Hyman reiterates this point in her analysis of story, particularly in examining the Queen,
where the ?only power was her beauty. She didn?t think about [Snow White] as a person. She hated
only what Snow White symbolized, which was youth and the power and beauty of youth? (Haase,
2003). It is interesting to note that when the Queen receives Snow White?s heart, she eats it. ?And [the
heart] was salted and cooked and the wicked woman ate it up, thinking that there was an end of Snow
White? (Grimm and Grimm 168). This is a remnant of a primitive cannibalistic belief that one
receives power and characters through what is consumed. By devouring what she is told to be Snow
White?s heart, the Queen believes she is capturing Snow White?s beauty and power within herself
(Sale, 1979). These instances show that the Queen was driven to act by her envy of Snow White?s
beauty, which was said to be more beautiful than her own. As she saw Snow White?s beauty as a
threat to her own (and through it, her power), she saw the need to eliminate Snow White completely.
In consuming Snow White?s heart not only is she celebrating her triumph over Snow White, but she is
reinforcing her own beauty and vitality. However, as those who are familiar with the story know, this
was not the end of Snow White. When the Queen finds out Snow White escapes death from the
huntsman and ends up living with seven dwarfs, she still considered Snow White a

The Cuban Missile Crisis
Explanation: Like what it is said. North Korea can and will be a threat, and we need to keep a close
watch on them before it is too late. Everybody needs to be ready. Kim Jong Un looks like an innocent
man but behind closed doors, that is where he is most dangerous. He can be planning and preparing an
attack that nobody even know.
Topic Sentence: The Cuban missile was a crazy time. It happened some fifty years ago when John F.
Kennedy was president. It was when one of U.S. spy plane caught Soviet Union trying to sneak some
nuclear missiles into Cuba that was ninety miles off the United States coast. Soon enough president
Kennedy had to talk to one of their leaders about what are they doing with the missiles and if they do

Topic Sentence: the other reason to why not all nations have access to nuclear weapons, is because
there are some countries that we know a little or not at all about what they are doing with the nuclear
weapons. Like in Iran, we do not know if they are making more nuclear weapons or using it for
medical purposes. Iran sixth president Mahmound Ahmadinejad, said that his country has been a
member of International Atomic Energy Agency for over thirty three years now. Ahmadinejad said
that the by law all agency guarantees him to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes only, but
everybody knows that nuclear energy can be used the wrong way also. For what it seems, there are
possibilities that there are ways to make nuclear energy into bombs or just weapons of mass
destruction.
Evidence: This is why we should worry about Iran s missiles. Just last fall Washington and European
capital been involved in a long time bout with Iran nuclear diplomacy. In Washington, they hope that
there hopes will run high and the effort will help the threat posed by Tehran s atomic ambitions. The
diplomatic deal is not only to limit Iran s capability to build nuclear weapons but to also deliver to
them. United states thinks that Iran is not really a threat to us but according to U.S. intelligence
assessments, Iran already have the most powerful missile in the Middle East. They also have ballistic
missiles that can be a

My Religion Essay
My Religion
What religion am I? In my life, I have been told many things about my religion. My mother is a
Roman Catholic, while my father is Jewish. I have learned about both religions, and I have tried to
practice both as best I could, but I am now faced with the decision; which one am I? Christians believe
that Jesus is both God and man, incarnation of God, and man gives man two natures, physical and
divined that they are united in one person. Thus the mystery of God becoming a human being, Jesus,
and suffered and died, and Mary (Jesus mother) was the mother of God. God resolved himself to
mankind in 3 ways, as God the father, God the sun and the Holy Spirit. From this we can see that

His or her life is structured from birth to death, through, the sacraments weekly worship, daily prayer

Judaism is the complex expression of a religious community, a way of life as well as a set of basic
beliefs and values, which is separated in patterns of action, social order, and culture as well as in
religious statements and concepts. The ideal is to remember God in everything one does, through
prayer and keeping the commandments. There are many spiritual practices that the Jewish people
follow as a reminder of their faith and as a way to engage all the senses in awareness of God. Some of
these scared practices include: circumcision, Sabbath, eating kosher foods, and Bar Mitzvah. Of all of
the commandments in Judaism, the brit milah, is probably the one most universally observed. It is
commonly referred to as a bris. Even the most seculars of Jews, who observe no other part of Judaism,
almost always observe these laws. Boys are ritually circumcised when they are eight days old, to
honor the seal of God s commandment to Abraham. A person who is uncircumcised suffers the penalty
of kareit, spiritual elimination. Sabbath is the most important ritual observance in Judaism. It is
primarily a day of rest and spiritual enrichment. The Jewish Sabbath runs from sunset Friday night to
sunset Saturday night. Observant Jewish families begin the Sabbath eve with a special Friday night
dinner. The woman of the house lights candles to bring in

  • 2. The Lessons On The Fish Strategy Discussion After teaching the five lessons on the FISH strategy, the students were able to apply the strategy during the post assessment. The students broke down the word families words into two parts; the onset and rime. They found the rime of the word first and said it. Then the students hooked the onset onto the rime to decode the whole word family word. By breaking the word apart into two parts, the students were able to decode unfamiliar words. Implications The first day I taught my group, I had them do a pre assessment where they read a story to me. I kept a running record to see what sight words and decodable words they knew. The results of the pre assessment set the tone for the rest of my lessons. For the next lessons, I implemented the FISH strategy with engaging activities. I taught the students what the FISH strategy was and modeled how to use it on word family words. Then I incorporated engaging activities for the students to perform using the strategy. Some of the students caught on to the FISH strategy quicker than others. I worked more with the students who did not quite understand the strategy as much. Some of the students struggled sitting still for the lessons, so I decided to incorporate centers. The students were able to move around the room and participate in centers that involved the FISH strategy. The students did really well with the centers and I was able to observe them while they were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Irregular Intelligence Intelligence Collection and Analysis Demands for Irregular Warfare According to Reiley (2008) defining the sociological makeup target area is the most important aspect to conducting irregular warfare (Reiley, 2008). According to Larson when assessing Irregular warfare, analysts need to begin with an analysis that focus on gaining an overview of the origins and history of the conflict; what classified and unclassified secondary analyses say about political, socioeconomic, and other drivers of the conflict; and key fault lines or other structural characteristics of the conflict, for example the nature of the coalition supporting the government and its challengers (Larson, 2008) (Reiley, 2008). When the U.S. intelligence community was created in 1947 its goal was to target the threats posed by other nation states like and not the threats posed by small guerilla warfare or irregular warfare. These types of conflicts require a different type of analysis, due to the unpredictability and small units, the analyst needs to be much more precise and be constantly monitoring the threat (Poppas Simon, 2008). • 4. Romanticism In Sonnet 20 Love is a common and frequent topic in the works of Renaissance poets, who followed the Petrarchan tradition of celebrating love to an unattainable beautiful mistress: up to William Shakespeare, all male sonneteers were structuring their poems around the image of a fair wealthy court lady. Shakespeare does not adapt his works to the established standard, but adjusts the very standard to his own needs, or as Sasha Roberts puts it, the poet writes against tradition (172). Basically, in his sonnets, William Shakespeare revolutionises the unwritten rules of the Petrarchan ideal of sonnet writing by modifying the category of love objects. This essay will focus on three major directions of this modification and will illustrate them on the basis of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So, the fair youth steals also the most important traits from the classical image of the female beloved in the Petrarchan tradition, embodying in such a way an ideal of a beloved and, naturally, taking over the central position in the sonnets. This assumption of the utmost importance of the image of the young man for Shakespeare s sonnet sequence resonates in Clarke s Love, Beauty, and Sexuality , where she mentions that in the sequence, the primary love object is the young man (197). As an embodied perfection placed in the centre of the collection of love poems, the image of the fair youth cannot stay unequivocal: at least two literary critics mentioned in this essay have different viewpoints on the issue of the uniqueness of this male beloved. For example, Douglas Trevor argues that it is William Shakespeare who introduces the image into the sonnet tradition. Contrastingly, Sasha Roberts counters this theory by claiming that Shake speares Sonnets was not the first sonnet sequence to celebrate male beauty (176). Taking into consideration both approaches, it is quite legitimate to acknowledge if not the uniqueness but at least the rarity of the unattainable male love object in the sonnet writing ... Every year data is collected through the Annual Survey of Jails (AJS) that provides information on the characteristics and make up of the Nation s jails and inmates housed in these jails. The Offender Profile is another method of collection for the state of Missouri, reporting important statistics about the offenders supervised by the Missouri Department of Corrections. Since there was only a requirement for thirty data sets, I needed to make an unbiased selection to the information. With the data already converted into an excel format I was able to run an excel formula (=RANDBETWEEN 1,112), and excel randomly assigned numbers to each county. I then sorted the counties by newly, unbiased assigned number in numerical order, and highlighted the top thirty rows. I copied this data over and used it in my scatterplots, (raw data provided in appendix). On July 4, 1862, he told them the story that inspired a classic, the story of Alice s Adventures Under Ground. This was a story he had been working on in one way or another for nearly twenty years, but required little Alice s intervention to write. While many events in the first manifestation of the story inspired by the Liddells remain in the work we read today, months of planning and research moved the book away from parochial allusions and mere child s play toward more advanced and reasoned ingenuity (Hudson 266). The story expanded from a recanting of friendly outings to a tale of deep symbolism, psychology, and generational satire. Each character in Alice s Adventures in Wonderland and its companion piece Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There symbolizes something beyond a deck of cards, a storybook character, or a figure of popular rhymes. We will begin with Alice herself. Alice is something more than Carroll s hero. She is the free and independent mind (Empson 262). Alice symbolizes Carroll s view of women. Purchasing Drones The decision of purchasing drones for the purpose of local law enforcement to use could be a negative and a positive. There are several states in the U.S. who do allow the purchase and the usage of drones by local law enforcement. Some of those states consist of Texas and California; but for the states on the East Coast (where Baltimore, Maryland resides); there is one state who allows the purchase and usage of drones: Florida. There are several pros and cons on this issue. Some of the pros and cons revolve around money, time, and the issue of individual rights. A drone is an unmanned aircraft or ship guided by remote control or onboard computers. (Merriam Webster). It is also beyond [the] line of sight: the GPS of a U.S. spy drone. (Dictionary.com). The issue that will be continuously brought up will be the right of privacy. Will the usage of drones violate the Fourth Amendment? It can be a violation if abused. The key word in the definition of drones IS spy. Is it spying if you are looking at something in plain view, but the device is out of plain sight? The Fourth Amendment states that every individual has the right to not have unreasonable searches and not without probable cause. • 13. Jane Eyre And Great Expectations Jane Eyre Great Expectations Comparative Essay The novels Jane Eyre and Great Expectations both take place in a capitalist society. Marx s fundamental ideas are prevalent in both novels. Karl Marx is a German philosopher who challenged capitalism with the creation of communism. Marx s most essential and recognized beliefs are that class creates conflict, modern work is alienating, and class struggle is at the heart of the society. He also believes that individuals affected by capitalism are often rugged, which he describes as putting self interest above the needs of the community. (Tyson 60). In Jane Eyre, Jane questions other characters beliefs on Marxism throughout the novel. In Great Expectations, characters challenge Pip on his Marxist beliefs. Therefore, throughout the use of interclass relationships, classism and rugged individualism, readers are able to observe how Jane challenges others Marxist beliefs and other characters challenge Pip s Marxist beliefs. In the novel Jane Eyre, we re able to see how interclass relationships of all kinds were frowned upon within society. Jane is in love with her master, Mr. Rochester who comes from a much higher social class than her. though rank and wealth sever us widely, I have something in my brain and heart, in my blood and nerves, that assimilates me mentally to him . Artists of different races, genders, and differing music styles continue to emerge and create top hits on the charts. However, some of these artists chose not to associate with major record labels, or sell any of their music to them. These are the people bringing about the real changes that ought to be recognized and discussed. For this paper, I decided to look at the group Postmodern Jukebox, their background as a group, their style of music, and route they chose in this business. I believe groups like Postmodern Jukebox are changing the music industry as we know it through their commitment to producing unique music, and allowing for a diverse following that encourages living out your own true identity. According to the group s official website, Postmodern Jukebox was founded by a young college drop out, Scott Bradlee, who was struggling with ideas of how to pay off his student debt when he reached out to former college friends and talented musicians Chris Anderson, Ben Golder Novick, Brandee Younger and Emma Walker to record a song together (PostmodernJukebox.com, n.d.). From there, Postmodern Jukebox began to remake many popular pop songs with their own unique twist, with the first song they recorded together as a group being Lady Gaga s song Paparazzi, that was later posted on Youtube to become a huge success for them (PostmodernJukebox.com, n.d.). This twisted logic is ingrained in today s society and considered the normal and everyone is doing it, but is that logic really acceptable? Long before sexual promiscuity became the social norm, C.S. • 17. Separate But Equal Doctrine Brianna Ellis Mrs. Holt M/J Law Studies 8 October 2017 African Americans were granted full citizenship, by the Fourteenth Amendment, in the year of 1868; segregation did not end until almost a hundred years later, in 1964. The separate but equal doctrine allowed segregation as long as blacks and whites had equal facilities. During the time of separate but equal many debated whether this doctrine was constitutional or not. The monumental Supreme Court cases Plessy vs Ferguson and Brown vs Board of Education shaped America s society by deciding the constitutionality of the separate but equal doctrine. In the year of 1896, the Supreme Court case Plessy vs Ferguson shaped America s society by concluding that the separate but equal doctrine was constitutional. This all began when Homer Plessy, who was one eighth black, sat in the white designated train car. He was arrested because he was in violation of the 1890 Separate Car Act, which declared that all rail companies must implement separate but equal accommodations for white and black passengers. Plessy contended in court that the Act infringed upon the Thirteenth and Fourteenth Amendments. After two unsuccessful attempts in lower courts, he took his case to the Supreme Court, which upheld the earlier rulings that segregation is constitutional under the separate but equal doctrine. The Supreme Court decision for Plessy vs Ferguson ruled in favor of Ferguson, 7 1. The majority found that the separate but equal doctrine did not violate the Thirteenth and Fourteenth Amendment, while the minority found the complete opposite. We also found that 32.5cm was the optimum length for the paper, as it puts the reading at about 10 on the scale, which is a good as it ensures that as we decrease the width (hence decreasing the amperes), the readomg will not go off the scale as it was high to start with if we had started with a length that put it at something lower like 3 to start with, it could have gone off the bottom of the scale and we would have to start over. • 21. The Era Of Discrimination By Jane Austen The Era Of Discrimination Feminism can be defined by three major components: social, political and economic equality of the sexes. Throughout history, women have battled to gain equality with men. Elizabeth Bennet and other women have been suppressed from opportunities merely because of their gender and have fought to be considered as equals to men. Women are far more than someone s wife or daughter, they are more than just their counterparts, they are human beings. From a morality standpoint, Elizabeth and other women should not be married off based on the need of survival but for the need of wanting to be married for true love. Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen, displays feminism through the aspects of women s dependence on men, class snobbery, and alienation. In the 1800s, women s sole purpose in life was to find a suitable husband, women had no other choice but to depend on a man for certain needs and wants. Most feminist studies have represented Austen as a conscious or unconscious subversive voicing a woman s frustration at the rigid and sexist social order which enforces women s subservience and dependence. (Morrison, 337). The protagonist in the novel, Elizabeth Bennet defies the social norms of the 1800s by not wanting to marry solely for economic gain. For example, Elizabeth is impoverished and needs to marry a man with good wealth but she realises that with being in a loveless marriage comes with unhappiness. The daughters of the Bennet family had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 22. Sante s Resume Luc Santé s Resume is a personal account of cultural and socio economical changes throughout Europe during the mid 20th century, and how they potentially correlated to impact his life. Resume consists of nine different life summaries, each with introductory constants (Luc Santé birth details, Lucien Santé s work history), before an opposing tale is expressed to conclude each paragraph. These vary in positive and negative connotations, but the concluding argument Santé s work puts forth aligns with the cliché that every action has a reaction . In essence, one slight tweak in his life, or resume, starts a chain effect that differs each life from one another. Santé constructs his own identity foremost, but also the identities of his parents ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This repetitive identity can also be linked throughout the paragraphs, as opposing as they are, to the text s primary themes. The importance of money is a constant in Resume, as paragraphs beginning with Santé s father losing his job ends with his son struggling to survive, living in poverty and fear, or performing criminal acts. In the two paragraphs in which Lucien Santé did not fall out of an iron foundry job, Luc was educated and lived either a life of debauchery, or a life as a Jesuit. The two vehemently opposed each other, but they both allowed Luc to live by privileged means. This idea dictates that Santé believes the absence of parental income and support almost consigns the child into a poor life near unchangeable, insinuating that Santé s identity is one driven by pessimism. Santé also constructs identities for his parents, the two individuals featured apart from himself. He does this not by describing their characteristics and idiosyncrasies, but by stating the major events they were involved in that eventually shaped his life. Often throughout Resume, Santé describes how his parents shipped the family to a distant country, or at the very least away from Verviers, inevitably failing in their quest to start a new, better life. It is also worth noting the one time Santé s tale concludes as one of happiness and success, there is little parental involvement in his choices ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To create an atmosphere that both looks and almost literally feels like possibly the hottest day of the year, Lee uses orange and yellow filters throughout the film. One may also notice that an escalated level of action or conversation on the screen is mirrored by the pace of the film from frame to frame. In essence, a heated argument would involve a quick paced transition of shots, going from a close up of one character to another at a rapid pace in tune with the argument. At the beginning of the film, we are introduced to a wide variety of characters. Mayor, an older gentleman with a drinking problem, portrays neutrality in the film that is in sharp contrast to the racism and discrimination that is harbored in most of the cast. Throughout the story, Lee has a way of making this hatred between characters seem ridiculous to the point where it becomes humorous. Perhaps as a way to make the audience look at hate as a joke, and to see it that way in their own lives. However, slowly we begin to see that the hate towards others is stemming from frustrations within their own lives, and is taken out on others in increasingly more harmful ways. To me, the two most obvious genres that he borrows from in this film are crime and drama, but it has elements of comedy as well. The most prevalent genre in my opinion is the crime genre. The story revolves around detectives, investigating a serial killer who rapes and murders women. The entire plotline is clearly within the genre of crime, and I would say the only subversion from this trope is that there is no resolve. Although the viewer thinks that they have caught the killer, they do not have enough evidence to convict, and so they have to let him go. The killer is never caught, and usually in crime ... The darkness that comes with utilizing tropes such as these is counteracted by Boon Jong ho s use of comedy. Throughout the film there is slight play on the good cop/bad cop trope seen in so many crime dramas. The bad cop does nothing but drop kick and beat suspects, until his kicking leg gets infected with tetanus and must be amputated. Although this sounds like a serious moment, because of the situations the character is seen in (almost all just getting into physical altercations) makes the moment humorous, because he will no longer be able to perform his favorite activity. The recession led to the total collapse of financial institutions, the withdrawal of banks by the national governments and the total collapse of stock markets across the world. The housing market also suffered in many areas, which resulted in prolonged unemployment, evictions and foreclosures. The crisis played a key role in the failure of significant businesses, the decline in the wealth of consumers, estimated in trillions of American dollars, a downturn in economic activities and the debt crisis of the European countries. On 9 August 2007, the Banque National de Paris (BNP), a French bank and financial company whose global headquarters are located in London, stopped withdrawals from three hedge funds citing a total evaporation of liquidity. This marked the beginning of the active phase of the crisis. In 2007, the bursting of the housing bubble of the U.S was at its peak. The bursting resulted in plummeting of security values tied to the U.S. real estate pricing. The complex interplay of policies that provided easier lending of loans, overpricing of sub prime mortgages, on a theoretical basis that the prices would continue to increase, and inadequate capital holdings from insurance companies and banks to back their financial commitments contributed to the bursting of the bubble (Boatright, 2010). In the present study, fenugreek was found to have a more potent action than that of metformin. The urea, uric acid and creatinine levels were significantly higher in the diabetic rats compared to those of control rats. When treated with 800 mg/kg of fenugreek the above three parameters showed a marked decrease attaining a near to normal value when compared to that of the control rats (Khalid et al, 2010). This compares with the traditional definition of throughput as the time it takes for a product to enter the manufacturing process and leave as a finished good. I find Goldratt s definition to be a more efficient measure of productivity. With the traditional definition of throughput it is merely measuring the time it takes for a product to be produced from start to finish. However, this does not take into account whether or not the finished products are being sold or sitting on a shelf. This is why Goldratt s definition of throughput is more efficient measure because if the product is not being sold it is not being accounted for. The second term defined is inventory, which is the amount of money the manufacturing plant has spent on things they anticipate to sell. Traditionally inventory is defined as a list of materials or parts in stock on hand for use. The Goal s definition is more accurate because it takes into account other costs of the inventory not just the material itself. There are raw materials, work in process inventory, and finished goods inventory. In the Goal they accounted for the holding costs to store finished products not yet sold as inventory. From the Grimm Brothers to Disney, it has been told and retold to children throughout the ages. However, what is often overlooked are the true meanings within the story. Fairytales typically have underlying messages that can be found written between the lines, generally in terms of the key themes. Snow White discusses the themes of envy and beauty, and shows how humans obsessions can lead to their own downfall as well as the harm of others. When focusing on the relationship between Snow White and her step mother the Queen, it is evident that the combination of these two themes results in a power struggle in which beauty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Trina Schart Hyman reiterates this point in her analysis of story, particularly in examining the Queen, where the ?only power was her beauty. She didn?t think about [Snow White] as a person. She hated only what Snow White symbolized, which was youth and the power and beauty of youth? (Haase, 2003). It is interesting to note that when the Queen receives Snow White?s heart, she eats it. ?And [the heart] was salted and cooked and the wicked woman ate it up, thinking that there was an end of Snow White? (Grimm and Grimm 168). This is a remnant of a primitive cannibalistic belief that one receives power and characters through what is consumed. By devouring what she is told to be Snow White?s heart, the Queen believes she is capturing Snow White?s beauty and power within herself (Sale, 1979). These instances show that the Queen was driven to act by her envy of Snow White?s beauty, which was said to be more beautiful than her own. As she saw Snow White?s beauty as a threat to her own (and through it, her power), she saw the need to eliminate Snow White completely. In consuming Snow White?s heart not only is she celebrating her triumph over Snow White, but she is reinforcing her own beauty and vitality.
