The Future Of Virtual Reality
Virtual reality is a virtual environment created by use of technology which has enabled the creation of
real experiences into our brains and senses. It fills in the gaps that are presented by other modes of
communication by making it possible to use technology to create real experiences in the human life.
Virtual reality is experienced in different fields and its future is dictated by its performance.
Programmers have developed virtual reality devices based on the materials that conjure dreams in
human beings. Professionals and scientists have been involved for years, developing and
implementing the virtual reality in ways that enable them to use and provide development in myriad
situations. This has enabled remove the ambiguity that words have presented. Grossman (2016) stated
that: VR s survival will become necessary in the future. That is the purpose I do this literature review:
reveal the future of virtual reality. (p.23) This paper seeks to find out how we can better the future of
virtual reality. It is premised o the importance of virtual reality in the modern world. It argues that
virtual reality is a good medium of knowledge transference. A comparison with the use of words to
convey meaning shows that words are ineffective at conveying meaning. This is because they are a
low bandwidth and also an unrealizable medium of transferring knowledge. It is premised on the fact
that virtual reality could change the way people live and therefore it is important that

Essay about Seal Hunting in Atlantic Canada
The annual hunt of harp seals (Pagophilus groenlandicus) in Atlantic Canada is contested at the start
of nearly every season, with celebrities, politicians, and the public actively weighing in on the matter.
Within all of the dialogue and debate, there can be a lot of bias and misrepresentation of facts
advocating for or against the seal hunt. Thus, the true sustainable aspects of the industry are drowned
out and lost due to the sheer amount of controversy surrounding the issue. Sustainability entails
meeting the needs of today without sacrificing the needs of the future ( Sustainable Development 1).
The concept of sustainable resource development involves support pillars that represent economics,
society, and the environment. Seal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Contemporary dishes like seal flipper pie have also contributed to the cultural identity of
Newfoundland society. As a result of these strong cultural ties, commercial and subsistence sealing
continues to exist through legal policy by demand from both government and society. The policies that
govern seal hunting are based on a sustained yield principle that does not compromise the harvest for
future generations, and are thus in accordance with sustainable aspects of resource development.
Economic benefits gained from the seal hunt include an increase in trading relationships for Canada
and the stimulation of the provincial economy of Newfoundland and Labrador. As reported by the
Department of Fisheries and Oceans, the total landed value of the seal harvest for 2006 was $34.3
million dollars ( Market 1). This figure represents a historic high, when market prices per pelt were
favourable. Regardless, the money brought in from seal hunting is said to have a trickle down effect
on other sectors of the economy ( Market 1). Canada has historically been the leading exporter of seal
products in the global marketplace, and had exported over $70 million in product between 2005 and
2011 ( Market 1) Nationally, the seal hunt has enabled Canada to forge new trading relationships in
the international community, as evidenced by a 2011 deal between Canada and China. The

A Critical Analysis of the National Numeracy Strategy Essay
A Critical Analysis of the National Numeracy Strategy.
The National Numeracy Strategy was implemented in September 1999, setting a target for 75% of all
pupils reaching at least level four in mathematics by 2002. This essay will focus on the findings since
the implementation of the strategy for both pupils and teachers. In order to do this I will examine the
Numeracy Strategy Framework guidelines, which state how the teaching of mathematics should be
carried out in primary education and evaluate some of the main criticisms since the implementation.
Since the implementation of the Numeracy Strategy, a maths lesson should occur on a daily basis in
every class from reception to year six. According to the Framework of the Strategy, each ... Show

When working with individuals or pairs, teachers need to ensure that the rest of the class is working
on related tasks and exercises.
The last stage of the lesson consists of a plenary session, which lasts between ten to fifteen minutes
and brings the whole class together in order to summarise what they have learnt. This stage of the
lesson should be a time to sort out any problems that children may have had, make links with other
work and to set homework.
Some plenary sessions may last longer than others depending on the outcomes for e.g. more time may
be needed for explanation and discussion to identify errors and misunderstandings. It is important to
iron out any problems at this stage before moving onto another task.
Although this is just a brief description of a typical lesson from the Framework guidelines of the
Numeracy Strategy, it is clear that the importance of mathematics is stressed over and over again. This
is evident where the Framework continually stresses the importance of linking mathematics wherever
possible. The Framework suggests that children should identify between mathematics and other
subject areas for e.g. in geography map reading will require calculations of measures and angles etc.
Teachers are encouraged to bring to the attention of their pupils where these links can be

The World Of Trade And Business, The Industrial Revolution...
Name Institution Course Unit Lecturer Date Introduction In the world of trade and business, the
industrial revolution is a period in which most of the modern global economic superpowers
established their foundation. This was a period between the 18th and the 19th centuries in which rural,
agrarian societies in America and Europe were transformed and became urban and industrial. Prior to
this period that began in Britain; the manufacturing was mainly done in homes through hand tools and
other basic machines that were not widely in use (MacLeod). The period of industrialization marked
the beginning of a shift to power, specialized machinery, mass production and factories. Among other
industries, the iron and textile industries played a major role assisted by the development of the steam
engine. These developments saw the improvement of transportation, banking and communication
(Hillstrom). Despite the restrictions that had been placed on the artisans and other shareholders in
Britain to avoid a situation where industrial knowledge was leaked to other countries, her interests in
colonies opened up avenues through information and knowledge moved to other regions such as
America. Factors leading to industrialization in America The embargo of 1807 The embargo of 1807
is one of the key reasons that led to America rethinking her approach on development. During the
Napoleonic wars, British navy seized an American cargo to assist in their fight. In addition, Britain

Podiatry Rhuematoid Arthritis
Introduction Throughout this essay I shall critique the available evidence regarding rheumatoid
arthritis (RA); particularly concerning the conclusions on its aetiology, diagnosis techniques,
pharmacological management, physical therapeutics and surgical treatment interventions. I shall
explore the expected prognosis and the key developments we can expect in the future. Aetiology and
Prevalence RA is a chronic, systemic and inflammatory disease that progressively impacts peripheral
joints (Panayi 2011).The damage that occurs is predominantly symmetrical and polyarthropathic
(Rindfleisch Muller 2005). It affects the host s joint synovial membranes, tendon sheaths and bursae
and causes stiffness, pain and swelling to the joints ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Genetics influence a high percentage of cases; according to de De Vries (2011), 50 60% of sero
positive and 30 50% of sero negative cases are influenced by hereditary factors. A greater
understanding of this area could bring new found appreciation of RA pathogenesis and treatment
methods (Mikuls 2012). Relationship of increase RA incidence with smoking is reported widespread
in literature (Fisher 2012, Klareskog 2008, Sugiyama 2010, Mahdi 2009). Interaction occurs between
two copies of HLA DR SE specific genes and smoking; specific citrullinated protein antigens are
induced by cigarette smoke which increases likelihood of RA. This causes a 21 flod increase risk of
RA in comparison to non smokers (Klareskog 2006). Furthermore, literature dictates that peripheral
vascular disease (PVD), steroid therapy and prednisone use have consistent supportive evidence that
shows increased risk of RA (Firth et al.2008a, Maradit‐Kremers 2007, Wegner 2010). There is little
evidence to dictate a common infectious cause of RA, however some pathogenic organisms such as
periodontitus, B19 parvovirus or Epstein Barr virus (EBV) virus may stimulate the disease by
activating the B cells to presence antibodies (Wegner 2010). There is inconclusive evidence to suggest
that the diet or breast implants play a role in the aetiology of RA (Tugwell et al 2001, Pattison 2006).
Pathogenesis In RA, the immune system cannot differentiate Major

Synopsis (I)
Many of the international alliances being formed today are still too young for us to evaluate their full
impact. The case of Xerox and Fuji Xerox gives us a unique opportunity to trace the evolution of such
an alliance over a long period of time. We can learn a lot from this experience, and try both to avoid
Xerox s mistakes and copy Xerox s success.
2
While this case is about a particular type of alliance a separate enterprise owned by Xerox and Fuji
Photo Film it also contains elements of other types of alliance. The relationship between Xerox and
Fuji Xerox, for example, is itself managed through a series of technology and marketing contracts,

measure vs. success factors Key success factors Transition
11
An effective question with which to begin the evaluation of the alliance is: What was the role of Fuji
Xerox in Xerox s global strategy before 1990?
12
Key points
1. Fuji Xerox enables Xerox to sell in the Japanese market, as the government requires a joint venture
as that time. This point highlights the role of the government policy in alliance strategies. 2. Because
Fuji Xerox was driven by the needs of the Japanese market, it developed capabilities and products that
were different from those of its American parent, and that later turned out to be valuable. Simply put,
it developed small copiers, while Xerox ignored this segment.
13
3. Later on, Fuji Xerox provided Xerox with a window on the Japanese competition their
technologies, the features they were working on, their strategies, and so on. Due to contacts between
engineers and general publicity in Japan surrounding new products, Fuji Xerox would learn about new
developments long before they were embodied in exports to U.S.. 4. Fuji Xerox benefited directly
from the technologies being developed in related industries in Japan, just as its local competitors.
14
5. Fuji Xerox also helped Xerox learn new management approaches, I.e. Total Quality Management.

The Boom Of The Sultanate Opened
Aiming at diversifying its economy, the Sultanate opened its gates to selective tourism in the late
1980s. Up until 1970, Oman had cut itself off completely from the outside world and very little was
known about the country and its people. Although Muscat had frequently been visited by trading
ships, few people had ever ventured into Oman s interior. Travel accounts of explorers like Wilfried
Thesiger in the 1940s, who was the first European to ever travel through the Rul al Khali, differ little
from those of earlier travelers such as James Wellsted and S.B. Miles in the adventurous journeys they
describe through an unknown land.
While there were no hotels in the 1970s, by the middle part of the next decade, the country boasted a
number of luxury hotels in Muscat that businessmen alone could not fill. In 1987, a cautious welcome
was extended to certain tourist groups and individual travelers. From 1997 to 1999, the number of
hotels in the country nearly doubled from fifty two to a hundred and 102, most of which were located
in Muscat, along the northern coast and in Salalah.
Omani tourism remains a relatively recent phenomenon, having cautiously been initiated in the late
1980s and gaining momentum in the middle part of the following decade. The Sultanate s tourism
development policy, which strives for quality over quantity, is evident in the building of prestigious
five star hotels such as the al Bustan Palace Hotel to house the Arab Gulf Cooperation Council
(AGCC) Summit.

Descriptive Essay On Canada Day
I think they call it Canada Day. A holiday in the middle of summer not unlike Independence Day in
the United States. On this occasion, I happened to be visiting friends in Tete Juene Cache, British
Columbia, several hundred miles into the interior. Tete Jeune was the French word for Yellow Head .
The name, like the town itself, was a vivid reminder of the not so long ago gold rush days. Fewer than
a thousand residents hid in the forests and canyons of this small settlement that clung to the western
edge of the Canadian Rockies. My friends Chuck Gail had settled here just the year before, buying an
old homestead that included one hundred and sixty acres of fields and woodlands at the foot of Mica
Mountain. Now from the mountain, flowed a creed of the same name, the actual disposition of, was
sometimes that of a well healed river in spring, often a mere trickle in summer. On this hot Sunday in
July however, new friends and families were arriving at Chuck Gail s every moment. A holiday picnic
had been planned in front of the farmhouse. Tables had been set up; barbecue pits ignited, croquet
mallets waited. Howard the Monk arrived early, bringing with him a pot of still warm baked beans.
Howard the Monk, was a man whose true vocation was still under a fair amount of speculation.
Rumors had him placed in the States during the Vietnam conflict. He wore a long traditional brown
robe with a thick braided rope tied at his waist. He had a great image in the wintertime. As I

Why The Trade Show Is Kuwait International Fair As A First...
Introduction
As a Director of Marketing and Research in Rona Faucets Company, I recommend to do the trade
show in Kuwait International Fair as a first step to move into the international business. Our company
products such as Bathroom and Kitchen faucets will be displayed in The Big 5 Kuwait 2015 trade
show. This report illustrates the rationale for selecting Kuwait as the trade show location for the Rona
Faucets Company and in addition, it briefly explains about the execution strategy, budget, and
advertising and promotion methods in the Kuwait trade show.

Our company will have an added edge if we make the right move now and it will help us to capture
the wealthy market. This new show runs alongside The Big 5 and will focus on interior fit out
products. That means it will cover everything from bathrooms and kitchens, to the individual products
and materials that are necessary to create original interior designs and fit outs.
The other reasons for choosing The Big 5 Kuwait International Fair is that, the country has a large,
modern, exhibition facility readymade to host exhibitions of all sizes, as well as present conference
events. Kuwait s economy too has a significant influence. The country has the highest budget surplus
as a percentage of GDP of any Gulf state at 25 percent and this budget is earmarked for spending on
housing, infrastructure and healthcare. This creates huge opportunities for exhibitions and conferences
that address these subjects (Mellor, 2015).
But our experience is telling us there is a huge demand and enthusiasm from local businesses.

Various memory retention techniques have been identified throughout the centuries. Several sources
have explained why these techniques should be used and of their effectiveness. More recently, a 2009
report was released by Association for Psychological Science, where learning techniques were
analyzed and their effectiveness explained. Some of the techniques from this report will be mentioned,
but the focus is more on how each that are presented relate to my own personal experience towards.

Within the scope of studying high school and college level subject areas, my choices among the
techniques would be represented in the methods which are described within state dependent memory
and within order effects. Consequently, rarely is the material that is studied grouped into certain
categories beyond how it is originally presented, nor is the material digested with the use of additional
aids. The most preferred methods seem to relate more with my state of consciousness. When studying
or preparing prior to a test, most definitely I will have consumed some form of caffeine. Although
wishing to be well rested, my time management and lifestyle does not always allow for this luxury.
While studying, the preference is to be within a specific environment, avoiding too many external
distractions. Even so, listening to my favorite music through my headphones, lifts my mood and
provides me the focus needed. Lastly, I enjoy being quizzed with virtual flashcards while walking
outdoors, which combines order effects technique with a state dependent method. Unfortunately, it
may not be the purest form of a state dependent method, since for example, exams are not given while
walking through a park.
Effectiveness of my personal study habits. Without controls and specific conditions, that appear
crucial to support effectiveness with any of these retention methods, it is hard to assert my preferred
choice as effective or ineffective with learning in general. With confidence, I can state that I succeeded
to achieve my desired outcome. I have been maintaining an A average majority of my educational
career. I have experienced considerable success in more recent years when I have incorporated several
of techniques mentioned above.

Asynchronous Transfer Mode Wireless Network
Project name: ATM wireless network ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) has been advocated as an
important technology for all types of services and networks. Most people believe that ATM will be the
standard for the future B ISDN (Broadband Integrated Services Digital Network). From the service
point of view, ATM combines both the data and multimedia information into the wired networks while
scales well from backbones to the customer premises networks. To ensure the success of ATM, lots of
the design issues have been standardized by ATM Forum. Wireless personal communication networks
(PCN) has been growing very fast in the last decade. Nowadays, laptop, cellular phone, and pagers are
very popular. Many systems have been developed to provide different services, such as, Personal
Communications Service (PCS), Portable Telephone Systems, and Satellite Communications System.
Usually, these services do not guarantee QoS (Quality of Services) so they are not suitable for the fast
growing multimedia applications. Due to the success of ATM on wired networks, wireless ATM
(WATM) is a direct t result of the ATM everywhere movement. WATM can be viewed as a solution for
next generation personal communication networks, or a wireless extension of the B ISDN networks,
which will support integrated data transmission (data, voice and video) with guaranteed QoS. WATM
architecture and protocols are already being well discussed. The ATM Forum are currently involved in

Sitting in on a trial, truly opened my eyes to the reality of the world we live in. In other words, crime

multiple similarities and differences between the book and the trial I went to. For example, Crook
County, states the division between the minority and white individuals. There is glass dividing them,
which creates the race division. However, in Williamsport, there is no distinct division of race, for the
trial was open to the public and there is no assigned seating. However, the equality did not lie in the

Oppression Of Minorities During The Civil Rights Movement
Oppression of minorities has had a detrimental aspect in the associated individual s lives. History has
demonstrated that as a western society, we devalue minorities rights and values through legislation and
societal views. Today, this remains to be an issue for many individuals of many stigmatized groups.
Although efforts to reach a more unified community have been taken, many minorities still fight
oppression. Through activism, social and political movements, the LGBTQIA community have
progressed immensely throughout the past few decades. History has demonstrated a slow, yet vast
amount of success in this marginalized group. Activists endured a long journey toward gaining rights
for the community which lead to a modern day civil rights movement for the LGBTQIA community.
Although there has been a great amount of successes, non heterosexual individuals still do not have
full equal rights as their heterosexual counterparts. There are still adversities that are being faced in
this population that hinder these individuals from thriving. The issue is even greater when the
individual has an additional identity that is also marginalized. Specifically, individuals who identify as
people of color (POC) and LGBTQIA still encounter prejudice from society. The following thesis will
lay out the progression in the LGBTQIA movement along with the deficits that these individuals have
encountered throughout history. An interdisciplinary perspective through historical,

The Examination Of The Prosecution Witness
Dear James Blackburn, thank you for contacting me with your case. As an expert witness, I am more
than happy to assist you in the examination of the prosecution witness evidence and account of the
incident. Firstly, we must consider any confounding factors that may have influenced the witness
memory and therefore influencing their testimony. Some factors we must consider are; cross race
effect (CRE), weapon focus effect, own age bias (OAB) and the bystander effect. I will attempt to aid
you in this case by referring to information and knowledge that has been provided and highlighted by
previous research. These factors must be deliberated in regards to the validity and credibility of the
witness s statement. Nonetheless, I will provide as much information I can to help with your client s
case.
Issue: Cross race effect
Fact: The witness is Black and the client is Caucasian.
Opinion: The cross race effect, otherwise referred to as own race bias explains why people are more
likely to recognise someone who is the same race as them. In this case, the witness may have
misinterpreted the scene as a result of this effect. For example, the criminal justice system regularly
relies on eyewitness identification when a crime has been committed (Sporer, 2001). Eyewitness
identification is still used despite the common difficulties eyewitnesses have recognising faces of
racial outgroup members. In your client s case, a black witness, and a white out group. These

The Cuban National Hero Jose Marti, A Precursor Of Latin...
Within this essay I am going to compare and contrast two rather different nationalist ideas that
prevailed in Latin America during the nineteenth century. My concentration in this comparison is on
how ethnicity and race are illustrated. The first nationalist thinker whose ideas I intent to discuss is the
Cuban national hero José Martí, a precursor of Latin American modernism. I will contrast Martí s
ideas and writings with the Peruvian journalist and political philosopher José Carlos Mariátegui, the
representative and advocator of twentieth century Latin American Marxist ideas. There are some
similarities between the offered social solutions between these authors: mainly their rejection of
imported models of society and politics. However, within this essay I am arguing that the humanistic
points of view between them have little in common. Whereas Martí promotes acceptance of all people
and all races, and considers all people equal to each other, Mariátegui, despite claiming to be racially
indifferent and accepting, in fact reveals racist and discriminating arguments that undermine his
claimed acceptance and embracement of the different races of America. To support my argument, I
will be offering relevant examples from both authors most famous publications, Martí s Nuestra
América and Mi Raza , and Mariátegui s Siete ensayos de interpretación sobre la realidad peruana ,
and El problema de las razas en América Latina . Mariátegui s ideology is strongly tied to the

Aboriginal Rights in Canada
There has been a great deal of contention over Aboriginal Rights in Canada. Much of this conflict can
be said to stem from the differences in both the philosophy and cultural systems of Aboriginal and non
aboriginal people, with much of it originating from the time of the original European settlement of
Canada (UBC Law, 2009). The focus of this conflict has been primarily on the rights to land, sea and
resources, as well as how the law is to apply to the Aboriginal peoples of Canada (UBC Law, 2009).
Contention on law began early into the colonization period. Originally the Royal Proclamation of
1763, set by the British Crown, was in place to protect the land rights of Canadian Aboriginals (UBC
Law, 2009). The Royal Proclamation recognized Aboriginal title, and sought to establish relations with
the Aboriginals (UBC Law, 2009). Ultimately, the proclamation meant that there was Crown
recognition of land ownership, and that Aboriginal authority would continue under North Americas
new British reign (UBC Law, 2009). In order to protect these land rights, a provision was made. The
provision states that only the British Crown had the ability to acquire land in Canada from the
Aboriginal community, and could only do so by treaty (UBC Law, 2009). Thus, the original Royal

The Holocaust And The Nazi Regime During World War 2
The Holocaust refers to the systematic genocide of over a million Jews perpetrated by the Nazi
Regime during World War 2. Since the day it ended, historians over the world have attempted to
uncover the true reasons behind the Holocaust, leading to the prominent debate over the exact date the
Holocaust initially began. However due to a lack of considerable evidence, many opposing
interpretations of the evidence has surfaced with the creation of several schools of thought: the
Intentionalist, Functionalist and Opportunistic view. The Intentionalist view focuses complete blame
on Hitler as the evil totalitarian leader of the Third Reich. From their perspective, the Holocaust is
dated earlier, for it was always Hitler s intention to implement the premediated genocide of the Jewish
population. In contrast, the Functionalist view argues that Hitler wasn t the driving force behind the
Holocaust, but rather a weak dictator who was a willing slave to circumstance. They propose that the
Holocaust was dated later and advocate instead that an accumulation of structural factors led to the
Holocaust. Both these perspectives enhance our insight regarding the date of the Holocaust, they are
however hindered by their reliance on the interpretation of certain pieces of evidence and as such are
easily contradicted. As such the Opportunistic view offers the most comprehensive explanation, for it
synthesises both these contributions while addressing their flaws to provide the better outcome.

Why Is Population Control Wrong
The idea of population control is one that ignites people to talk about and explore. Some countries
have implemented population control for quite some time now. There are many attributes that go
against the argument, but there are also some potential positives that could come from it. No matter
what religion or background people come from, each person has their own view on if population
control is right or wrong. Many people choose to see certain positives over the negatives while others
look at things the other way around. One of biggest and controversial topics within population control
is issues of the environment.
The environmental gain of population control shows that there are many positives to this regulation.
With an ever increasing population, scientists are not sure that the earth can provide for the growing
population. Humanity has been the sole reason for air pollution and population control is a way to
curb that. Because having clean air is one of the basic demands of human health and prosper, having
clean air for generations to come is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If population control were put into place it would limit the diversity and essentially shrink the gene
pool. If any population were to be control, the lack of diversity would a main issue of debate.
Diversity matters because it means that we value the difference in everyone around us, and not just
one type of person. Population control would take that and completely abolish and tell people which
kind of person is the right kind of person. Diversity is also a good thing because it gives people a
chance to experience different attributes of each other, and broaden their norms. Diversity gives us the
opportunity to learn from people who view things differently and population control would suppress
that. Diversity teaches us to respect one another and to learn from one another, population control
teaches us the

John Winthrop Speech
Ahsi Lo
Professor Ruane
HUM 2331 US History to 1865: MWF 1 1:50 20 September 2017
Quiz 1 Replacement Assignment
1. John Winthrop s speech to the General Court of Massachusetts explained the Puritan concept of
freedom which consisted of natural liberty (doing whatever you want) and moral liberty (doing what is
good). In the Massachusetts Bay colony, the Puritans wanted to have the right to worship and govern
themselves but had to exercise good moral conduct by obeying religious and government authority.
Winthrop explains the idea of freedom with an example of the status of women in society. He states
that a woman has the liberty to choose her husband and thus is subject to his authority. So, a woman
gets the liberty to choose who rules over her but then must obey everything her husband says. This
shows that in the Plymouth and Massachusetts Bay colonies, individuals needed to conform to the
colony and practice what the authority wanted them to practice; they had low individuality and women
had low status and rights under her husband. The trial of Anne Hutchinson also supports this idea as
she was prosecuted for having views that differed and endangered society by holding meetings to
discuss religious issues. Hutchinson was brought before the court led by John Winthrop because she
seduced honest people in her meetings (Foner 36) thereby dishonoring the commonwealth and
disrupting society. Winthrop stated that Hutchinson holding meetings and talking about churches is
not fitting of her sex, showing that women were not supposed to discuss
Lo 1 religious topics. At the conclusion of the trial, Hutchinson was subjected to being banished from
the colony. Though she did not agree with the judgement of

The Matrix And The Allegory Of The Cave
The Matrix and the Allegory of the Cave focus on one central idea: What is real?. They engage the
audience in a fictional world where people live in false realities without knowing it. They make us
question our own knowledge. Their storylines connect in that the protagonist discovers that everything
he knows is a big lie and now he must discover the truth. The protagonist is thrown all of the sudden
into the real world and then, he continues to seek the absolute truth. Neo and the prisoner inquire
whether knowing the truth is a blessing or a curse. The Matrix itself is very comparable to the cave
because both are prisons of false reality. Humans are trapped and manipulated by their
surroundings.Their senses are tricked and they can t recognize the truth. In the Allegory of the Cave,
people have been in this dwelling since childhood, shackled by the legs and neck. Thus they stay in
the same place so that there is only one thing for them to look that: whatever they encounter in front of
their faces. But because they are shackled, they are unable to turn their heads around. Just like the
prisoners, Neo is chained to a bunch of machines who blind him from the real world. In the film,
Morpheus says: Like everyone else, you were born into bondage, kept inside a prison that you cannot
smell, taste, or touch. A prison for your mind . Neither the prisoners or the people living in the Matrix
know they are trapped. They are unaware anything exists beyond their

Similarities Between The Salem Witch Trials And The Holocaust
The Salem Witch Trials and The Holocaust, Hundreds of years apart and almost the same result.
During The Salem Witch Trials and The Holocaust, people were killed because of others believing
something was wrong with them either spiritually or racially. The Salem Witch Trials and The
Holocaust may have been in different time periods, but they both started with a single person not
liking another. The Salem Witch Trials and The Holocaust both falsely accused people. During The
Salem Witch Trials, people were accused of being witches, being bewitched by one, or being a servant
of Satan, the Devil. The consequence for witchcraft was death, if one did not admit to it. During the

How Does Capote Describe The Town Holcomb
Although, Capote writes about a monumental murder he focuses in on how graceful Holcomb is
before the murder; therefore, Capote verbalizes even if a town is safe it can be threatening anywhere.
Capote uses literary devices such as anaphora to describe the town Holcomb to give readers a
comprehension on how Holcomb acted before the chaos began. In the beginning of the book Capote
reports Holcomb town as, Like the waters of the river, like the motorists on the highway, and like the
yellow streaking down the Santa Fe tracks, drama, in the shape of exceptional happenings, has never
stopped there (Capote 5). Life in Holcomb was as if the town had its own little world and nothing
from the outside mattered. Holcomb was just a small, quiet town in the middle of nowhere. Capote

much. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

there was big difficulties, which led the Greeks to a downfall. Capote first mentions how graceful the

that died for the country and kept it safe. They also think about their families and these creates an

Christianity conversion that is defined in the Biography of Baquaqua. In Baquaqua s arrival in New

religious groups that want to liberate him from slavery. The Abolitionist Movement in the United

that freed slaves during the mid 19th century. Baquaqua s story provides evidence of the important
role of the American Free Baptist Movement providing educational, financial, and transportation
assistance to Baquaqua in order to escape the bonds of slavery. The role of Mr. Jones and R. Mr. Judd
provide accurate examples of the influence of the Baptist faith on Baquaqua, which inspired him to
convert to Christianity in Haiti. However, the implicit bias of Christian influence on Baquaqua may be
questionable during his stay in New York and Boston, yet the more concrete example of R. Mr. Judd s
influence on Baquaqua seems to confirm the conversion process as part of the liberation of Baquaqua
from slavery during this time of his life. In this manner, evidence taken from the primary source of
Baquaqua s narrative provides a deeper understanding of the impact of Christian abolitionist
movements in the liberation and freedom of former slaves during the 19th century. The Biography of
Baquaqua defines the important role of Christian missionary groups and abolitionist organizations that
made it possible to combat the atrocities of slavery through Baquaqua s own experiences as a free

Bacterial Conjunctivitis Essay
Bacterial Conjunctivitis
Bacterial Conjunctivitis, commonly known as pink eye , is one of the most well known and treatable
eye infections for both children and adults. The name was chosen because it is an inflammation of the
conjunctiva. The conjunctiva is the clear membrane that covers the white part of the eye and lines the
inner surface of the eyelids. It is commonly called pink eye because of the red color of the eye from
irritation and was described as such.

accompany Bacterial Conjunctivitis.
Bacterial Conjunctivitis has a relatively short incubation period. Most cases are cured in 3 5 daysand
there is rarely any permanent damage. The disease is treated with antibiotics that typically contain
Sulamyd and administered as eye drops or an ointment for 7 10 days. Oral antibiotics can be given for
certain types of bacteria. It is important, however, to continue medication as instructed by the
physician, even after the symptoms have cleared. If antibiotics are not taken, the disease will run its
course in fourteen days and a wet washcloth over the eyelids may help relive some discomfort. An
over the counter Saline Solution, artificial tears , can be used to relive itching and burning, but
precautions should be taken so that the bottle never touches the infected eye. Sunglasses can be worn

Effective Leadership in Public Safety
Effective Leadership in Public Safety
Introduction
As chief executive my role is to create and promote a culture that is responsive to the needs and
concerns pertaining to public safety and service as required throughout the community. Effective
leadership in public safety covers a wide number of issues that require a complex level of
competences. This paper will demonstrate my understanding how the internal and external elements of
public safety and service need to be managed as they relate to six topics: ethics in public safety,
human and community service delivery, cultural diversity in public safety, group dynamics, human
resources in public safety, and America s homeland security.
Discussion
Ethics in Public Safety
I understand examples of unethical behavior can be found in academia, politics, sports, entertainment,
banking and the legal system to name a few. Public Safety workers are not immune to these unethical
behaviors. They face ethical dilemmas on a regular basis pertaining to practice, inadequate resources,
inadequate staffing levels, cost containment measures, consolidation of public safety organizations,
and ineffective leadership. How individuals respond to these ethical dilemmas depends on their
previous experiences with unethical behavior, their individual personality traits, and their ethical
values as well as their knowledge of ethical principles. Moral courage is needed to confront unethical
situations.
Moral courage is the commitment to stand up

Everyday we all make sacrifices for people we love and in rare cases those we do not. The book
Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver illuminates one family and the sacrifice they make to

Welcome to the most wonderful racist world of Disney The wonderful world of Disney is synonymous
with fairy tales, adventure, and happily ever after. Disney makes dreams come true and makes us wish

which kids can learn about ethics, values and self image. The world of Disney over time has become a

In the past years, Disney television shows have been trying to embody the whole concept of
multiculturalism and the idea of inclusiveness. There have been diverse representations of people of

literature on capital structure first considering definitions and theories of capital structure and then
empirical literature. It follows the conceptual framework, incorporate scholarly works and theories.

The Power Of The White House Essay
Webster s Dictionary defines power as the ability to do anything; ... capacity for producing an effect;
... a wielder of authority, strong influence, or rule. In my opinion, power is the ability to produce an
effect from people, places or things. Thunderstorms are strong mixtures of air and water that can cause
a powerful effect on weather. The White House is a place that stands as a symbol of what America as a
country represents; which can produce a powerful effect, either positive or negative, upon the
emotions of those who see it. And finally, there is an organization of people within a society who
wield their impact through the decisions they make, the government, that defines the influence of the
effect of power on those to whom it governs. The concept of power has come to be associated with the
terms wealth, authority and government. Much of what is studied in the field of political science is
defined by the parameters created to express the concept power and how well it is used to distribute
wealth and authority. It is important that the ideas that symbolize the characterization of power can be
defined within a set of parameters that are readily relatable because the basis of political science is the
study of the theory and practice of politics, which can be broadly defined as the determining of the
distribution of power and resources. John Emerich Edward Dalberg, Lord Acton, is often quoted for

2010/29/07). Through trial and error ConAgra have adapted an organizational structure that works for

The Last Days Of The Incas
The Last Days of the Incas:
How the conquest of the Spaniards led to an impact on one of the world s largest empires. The Inca
Empire, shortly after its beginning, fell under the rule of the Spaniards but was still one of the world s
ancient largest empires. It wasn t until around 1400 that the Incas began to emerge as the dominant
regional polity . On the eve of the early 1530 s the Spanish invaded the Incas . However, the Incan

and its official language was Quechua . By the time of the Spanish conquest, much of the Inca Empire
was made up of numerous non Inca groups. Author Kim McQuarrie published The Last Days of the
Inca in 2007, after having lived in Peru for five years. Although MacQuarrie himself is not Peruvian,
he was educated in the Universidad Catolica in Lima and has written four other books on Peru. Not
only is MacQuarrie a writer but a documentary filmmaker and anthropologist who has won many
Emmys for documentary films. Furthermore, during his time in Peru MacQuarrie lived with a tribe of
Amazonians called the Yora. All of MacQuarrie s literary works are related to Peru, and many are
related to the history. His experience filming nearby a group of indigenous people whose ancestors
still remembered their contacts with the Incan Empire led him to write about the last days of the Incas.
He was able to create a more narrative story because of the primary information collected during his
anthropological field work in the Amazon; there were Inca

Professionals and scientists have been involved for years, developing and implementing the virtual reality in ways that enable them to use and provide development in myriad situations. This has enabled remove the ambiguity that words have presented. Grossman (2016) stated that: VR s survival will become necessary in the future. That is the purpose I do this literature review: reveal the future of virtual reality. (p.23) This paper seeks to find out how we can better the future of virtual reality. It is premised o the importance of virtual reality in the modern world. It argues that virtual reality is a good medium of knowledge transference. A comparison with the use of words to convey meaning shows that words are ineffective at conveying meaning. This is because they are a low bandwidth and also an unrealizable medium of transferring knowledge. Essay about Seal Hunting in Atlantic Canada The annual hunt of harp seals (Pagophilus groenlandicus) in Atlantic Canada is contested at the start of nearly every season, with celebrities, politicians, and the public actively weighing in on the matter. Within all of the dialogue and debate, there can be a lot of bias and misrepresentation of facts advocating for or against the seal hunt. Thus, the true sustainable aspects of the industry are drowned out and lost due to the sheer amount of controversy surrounding the issue. Sustainability entails meeting the needs of today without sacrificing the needs of the future ( Sustainable Development 1). Contemporary dishes like seal flipper pie have also contributed to the cultural identity of Newfoundland society. As a result of these strong cultural ties, commercial and subsistence sealing continues to exist through legal policy by demand from both government and society. The policies that govern seal hunting are based on a sustained yield principle that does not compromise the harvest for future generations, and are thus in accordance with sustainable aspects of resource development. Economic benefits gained from the seal hunt include an increase in trading relationships for Canada and the stimulation of the provincial economy of Newfoundland and Labrador. As reported by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, the total landed value of the seal harvest for 2006 was $34.3 million dollars ( Market 1). This figure represents a historic high, when market prices per pelt were favourable. Regardless, the money brought in from seal hunting is said to have a trickle down effect on other sectors of the economy ( Market 1). Canada has historically been the leading exporter of seal products in the global marketplace, and had exported over $70 million in product between 2005 and 2011 ( Market 1) Nationally, the seal hunt has enabled Canada to forge new trading relationships in the international community, as evidenced by a 2011 deal between Canada and China. The National Numeracy Strategy was implemented in September 1999, setting a target for 75% of all pupils reaching at least level four in mathematics by 2002. This essay will focus on the findings since the implementation of the strategy for both pupils and teachers. In order to do this I will examine the Numeracy Strategy Framework guidelines, which state how the teaching of mathematics should be carried out in primary education and evaluate some of the main criticisms since the implementation. Since the implementation of the Numeracy Strategy, a maths lesson should occur on a daily basis in every class from reception to year six. According to the Framework of the Strategy, each ... The last stage of the lesson consists of a plenary session, which lasts between ten to fifteen minutes and brings the whole class together in order to summarise what they have learnt. This stage of the lesson should be a time to sort out any problems that children may have had, make links with other work and to set homework. Some plenary sessions may last longer than others depending on the outcomes for e.g. more time may be needed for explanation and discussion to identify errors and misunderstandings. It is important to iron out any problems at this stage before moving onto another task. Although this is just a brief description of a typical lesson from the Framework guidelines of the Numeracy Strategy, it is clear that the importance of mathematics is stressed over and over again. This is evident where the Framework continually stresses the importance of linking mathematics wherever possible. The Framework suggests that children should identify between mathematics and other subject areas for e.g. in geography map reading will require calculations of measures and angles etc. Teachers are encouraged to bring to the attention of their pupils where these links can be ... • 5. The World Of Trade And Business, The Industrial Revolution... Name Institution Course Unit Lecturer Date Introduction In the world of trade and business, the industrial revolution is a period in which most of the modern global economic superpowers established their foundation. This was a period between the 18th and the 19th centuries in which rural, agrarian societies in America and Europe were transformed and became urban and industrial. Prior to this period that began in Britain; the manufacturing was mainly done in homes through hand tools and other basic machines that were not widely in use (MacLeod). The period of industrialization marked the beginning of a shift to power, specialized machinery, mass production and factories. Among other industries, the iron and textile industries played a major role assisted by the development of the steam engine. These developments saw the improvement of transportation, banking and communication (Hillstrom). Despite the restrictions that had been placed on the artisans and other shareholders in Britain to avoid a situation where industrial knowledge was leaked to other countries, her interests in colonies opened up avenues through information and knowledge moved to other regions such as America. Factors leading to industrialization in America The embargo of 1807 The embargo of 1807 is one of the key reasons that led to America rethinking her approach on development. Aetiology and Prevalence RA is a chronic, systemic and inflammatory disease that progressively impacts peripheral joints (Panayi 2011).The damage that occurs is predominantly symmetrical and polyarthropathic (Rindfleisch Muller 2005). Relationship of increase RA incidence with smoking is reported widespread in literature (Fisher 2012, Klareskog 2008, Sugiyama 2010, Mahdi 2009). Interaction occurs between two copies of HLA DR SE specific genes and smoking; specific citrullinated protein antigens are induced by cigarette smoke which increases likelihood of RA. This causes a 21 flod increase risk of RA in comparison to non smokers (Klareskog 2006). Furthermore, literature dictates that peripheral vascular disease (PVD), steroid therapy and prednisone use have consistent supportive evidence that shows increased risk of RA (Firth et al.2008a, Maradit‐Kremers 2007, Wegner 2010). There is little evidence to dictate a common infectious cause of RA, however some pathogenic organisms such as periodontitus, B19 parvovirus or Epstein Barr virus (EBV) virus may stimulate the disease by activating the B cells to presence antibodies (Wegner 2010). There is inconclusive evidence to suggest that the diet or breast implants play a role in the aetiology of RA (Tugwell et al 2001, Pattison 2006). Although Muscat had frequently been visited by trading ships, few people had ever ventured into Oman s interior. Within this essay I am going to compare and contrast two rather different nationalist ideas that prevailed in Latin America during the nineteenth century. My concentration in this comparison is on how ethnicity and race are illustrated. The first nationalist thinker whose ideas I intent to discuss is the Cuban national hero José Martí, a precursor of Latin American modernism. I will contrast Martí s ideas and writings with the Peruvian journalist and political philosopher José Carlos Mariátegui, the representative and advocator of twentieth century Latin American Marxist ideas. There are some similarities between the offered social solutions between these authors: mainly their rejection of imported models of society and politics. However, within this essay I am arguing that the humanistic points of view between them have little in common. Whereas Martí promotes acceptance of all people and all races, and considers all people equal to each other, Mariátegui, despite claiming to be racially indifferent and accepting, in fact reveals racist and discriminating arguments that undermine his claimed acceptance and embracement of the different races of America. To support my argument, I will be offering relevant examples from both authors most famous publications, Martí s Nuestra América and Mi Raza , and Mariátegui s Siete ensayos de interpretación sobre la realidad peruana , and El problema de las razas en América Latina . • 23. Aboriginal Rights in Canada There has been a great deal of contention over Aboriginal Rights in Canada. Much of this conflict can be said to stem from the differences in both the philosophy and cultural systems of Aboriginal and non aboriginal people, with much of it originating from the time of the original European settlement of Canada (UBC Law, 2009). The focus of this conflict has been primarily on the rights to land, sea and resources, as well as how the law is to apply to the Aboriginal peoples of Canada (UBC Law, 2009). Contention on law began early into the colonization period. Originally the Royal Proclamation of 1763, set by the British Crown, was in place to protect the land rights of Canadian Aboriginals (UBC Law, 2009). The Royal Proclamation recognized Aboriginal title, and sought to establish relations with the Aboriginals (UBC Law, 2009). Ultimately, the proclamation meant that there was Crown recognition of land ownership, and that Aboriginal authority would continue under North Americas new British reign (UBC Law, 2009). In order to protect these land rights, a provision was made. The provision states that only the British Crown had the ability to acquire land in Canada from the Aboriginal community, and could only do so by treaty (UBC Law, 2009). Thus, the original Royal Proclamation of 1763 served to protect Aboriginal land rights under the British Sovereignty. Since the day it ended, historians over the world have attempted to uncover the true reasons behind the Holocaust, leading to the prominent debate over the exact date the Holocaust initially began. However due to a lack of considerable evidence, many opposing interpretations of the evidence has surfaced with the creation of several schools of thought: the Intentionalist, Functionalist and Opportunistic view. The Intentionalist view focuses complete blame on Hitler as the evil totalitarian leader of the Third Reich. From their perspective, the Holocaust is dated earlier, for it was always Hitler s intention to implement the premediated genocide of the Jewish population. In contrast, the Functionalist view argues that Hitler wasn t the driving force behind the Holocaust, but rather a weak dictator who was a willing slave to circumstance. They propose that the Holocaust was dated later and advocate instead that an accumulation of structural factors led to the Holocaust. Both these perspectives enhance our insight regarding the date of the Holocaust, they are however hindered by their reliance on the interpretation of certain pieces of evidence and as such are easily contradicted. As such the Opportunistic view offers the most comprehensive explanation, for it synthesises both these contributions while addressing their flaws to provide the better outcome. ... • 26. John Winthrop Speech Ahsi Lo Professor Ruane HUM 2331 US History to 1865: MWF 1 1:50 20 September 2017 Quiz 1 Replacement Assignment 1. John Winthrop s speech to the General Court of Massachusetts explained the Puritan concept of freedom which consisted of natural liberty (doing whatever you want) and moral liberty (doing what is good). In the Massachusetts Bay colony, the Puritans wanted to have the right to worship and govern themselves but had to exercise good moral conduct by obeying religious and government authority. Winthrop explains the idea of freedom with an example of the status of women in society. He states that a woman has the liberty to choose her husband and thus is subject to his authority. So, a woman gets the liberty to choose who rules over her but then must obey everything her husband says. This shows that in the Plymouth and Massachusetts Bay colonies, individuals needed to conform to the colony and practice what the authority wanted them to practice; they had low individuality and women had low status and rights under her husband. The trial of Anne Hutchinson also supports this idea as she was prosecuted for having views that differed and endangered society by holding meetings to discuss religious issues. Hutchinson was brought before the court led by John Winthrop because she seduced honest people in her meetings (Foner 36) thereby dishonoring the commonwealth and disrupting society. Winthrop stated that Hutchinson holding meetings and talking about churches is not fitting of her sex, showing that women were not supposed to discuss Lo 1 religious topics. At the conclusion of the trial, Hutchinson was subjected to being banished from the colony. Though she did not agree with the judgement of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They engage the audience in a fictional world where people live in false realities without knowing it. They make us question our own knowledge. The protagonist is thrown all of the sudden into the real world and then, he continues to seek the absolute truth. Neo and the prisoner inquire whether knowing the truth is a blessing or a curse. The Matrix itself is very comparable to the cave because both are prisons of false reality. Humans are trapped and manipulated by their surroundings.Their senses are tricked and they can t recognize the truth. In the Allegory of the Cave, people have been in this dwelling since childhood, shackled by the legs and neck. Thus they stay in the same place so that there is only one thing for them to look that: whatever they encounter in front of their faces. But because they are shackled, they are unable to turn their heads around. Just like the prisoners, Neo is chained to a bunch of machines who blind him from the real world.
