Booker T Washington And William Edward Burghardt Du Bois
In the early history of the civil rights movement two distinguished African American leaders,
Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. William Edward Burghardt Du Bois arose to accomplish one
goal, education for all African Americans. throughout the turn of the century, between the years
1895 and 1915 there have been several theories on how African Americans were about to attain first
class citizenship. With 2 separate views on a way to accomplish this goal, the African American
community was split in half on who to support. whereas Booker T. Washington believed in
industrial and agricultural labor, W.E.B. William Edward Burghardt Du Bois projected a method of
pursuit through education so as to achieve first class citizenship for the African... Show more

Washington believed within the education of a sensible craft, through that African Americans
would win the respect of whites, become full voters, and become absolutely integrated into all
aspects of society.
During a time of worsening social, political and economic conditions for African Americans
Washington emerged because of the major representative for the gradualist economic strategy. His
rise to national prominence came in 1895 along with his Atlanta Compromise address. Washington
was known as on white Americans to produce jobs and industrial education for blacks, in exchange
for blacks jilting demands for social equality
Born the son of a slave, booking agent Taliaferro Washington was thought of throughout his time to
be the representative of the African American race. Washington believed that if African Americans
centered their attention on strain economically, they d eventually run the rights they were owed.
With this in mind, he inspired blacks to attend trade faculties wherever they may learn to figure
either industrially or agriculturally. At his renowned Atlanta Exposition Address in Atlanta he
declared, Our greatest danger is that, within the nice leap from slavery to freedom, we have a

Environmental Issues in North America and the World
Introduction North America has been struggling immensely since the last century with air and
water pollution, deforestation, and overpopulation. These struggles are due to poor prevention
planning and industrial manifestation. Pollution is changing the atmosphere much sooner than
expected and global warming is predicted to overwhelm the atmosphere within the next half of a
century. In order to sustain the environment and atmosphere humans must take immediate action
right now. The longer we wait to start immediate prevention, the sooner our air and water supplies
will diminish. Unfortunately, it is not only North America that needs to change it is many other
countries and regions of the world. Prevention and preservation is up... Show more content on

Air Pollution and Global Warming The biggest cause of air pollution in North America comes from
carbon dioxide emissions. Fossil fuel, electricity, and vehicle technology has been an enormous
contribution to the emission of greenhouse gases. Greenhouse gases are gases that attract radiation
from the sun into the earth s exterior and its environment. Producing an overabundance of
greenhouse gases at a time may dramatically change the atmosphere as we know it today. The
ozone layer that protects human beings and many other species of plants and animals from the sun
s excruciating rays may deplete or be damaged due to too much pollution. The United States heavy
demand of fossil fuels for transportation is causing extreme confliction and competitiveness with
many other countries. Japan became so concerned with these issues that they devised a plan that
could bring countries together to compromise this extremely difficult issue. The Kyoto Protocol is
a negotiation put together by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change
(UNFCCC). The treaty was compromised in Kyoto, Japan in 1997. Countries that formally approve
this protocol devote to decrease the amount of released greenhouse gases, or trade the number of
emissions allowed from sustaining or raising the emissions of greenhouse gases. The United States
of America was not among these countries that signed the

Ethical Issues In A Few Good Men
In the book A Few Good Men there is a lot of ethical issues presented in the book by Aaron
Sorkin. The first big ethics presented in the book was honor and commitment. The big ethical
question presented in the book was, should you always follow orders even if you know they are
wrong? Santiago a guy from Dawson and Downey squad, was killed by a rag stuffed in his
throat where it was hard for him to breathe and plus he had a medical condition that sped up the
speed of his death. Downey and Dawson were ordered by their commander, Colonel Jessup
ordered them to do that to Santiago which was the code red, which he specifically told the rest of
the platoon to leave Santiago alone. Dawson and Downey were just following orders given to them.

Climate Change Is Caused By Carbon Emissions
Climate change is resulted due to unrestrained pollution. Carbon emissions that enter the earth s
atmosphere have a very dangerous effect on our environment, economy and wellbeing. This major
problem earth is facing can be fixed if we all work as one.
Climate change is caused by carbon emissions being trapped in earth s atmosphere. The pollution
that is trapped in our atmosphere then heats up changing earth s climate patterns. The act of burning
fossil fuels for energy has the biggest contribution to climate change. Scientists are confident that
global temperatures will continue to rise for many years to come, all because of human activities.
The intergovernmental panel on climate change also known as the IPCC came to a conclusion that
it is 90% probable that the globe is warming due to human activities over the past 250 years. The
IPCC, has a large depth of knowledge with having over one thousand three hundred scientists. The
IPPC scientists predict a temperature rise of 2.5 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit over the next century.
Whilst the climate changes and the globe warms there are several major effects that is having a
large impact on our environment, for example the polar ice caps. Each summer due to climate
change the polar ice cap is melting due to warm water. Sea ice reflects heat from the sun, while
water adsorbs it. Less ice means more heat which means less ice. Temperatures are rising drastically
with our last decade being the hottest on record.
With the polar ice caps

Betty Williams Rights Activist
How would you feel if you witnessed your child get stripped of his or her rights? How would
you feel if your child was treated inhumanely in front of your very own eyes? Children should
never be viewed as powerless or be limited of their rights. They should always receive the same
rights given to everyone else in the world. People need to stand up, defend, and help children.
That s exactly what Betty Williams did. Williams was a determined and hard working peace
activist who devoted her life to helping children, and still does today. Had Betty Williams not
acted as a representative for children and fought for them, life for children would never be the
same. On May 22, 1943, Betty Williams became a face in this world. She was born in Belfast,
which is located in Northern Ireland. Williams was part of a... Show more content on

Life for them wasn t always like that. On August 10, 1976, Williams witnessed a horrific incident
in her town. A mother was walking down the street with her children, and became victims in a hit
and run situation. They were hit by a Provisional Irish Republican Army. All of the three children
died, but their mother, Anne Maguire, survived. Unfortunately, Anne Maguire couldn t bear with
the pain of her children s death, and took her own life. Williams noticed that nothing was done
about the accident. This tragedy inspired her to represent children and ensure that they live good
lives. As Williams once said, We want for our children, as we want for ourselves, our lives at
home, at work, and at play to be lives of joy and peace ( Betty Williams 3). Soon after this
occurrence, Williams came together with the aunt of the children that were killed, Mairead
Maguire. Together, they fought for children. Their goal was to unite all of Northern Ireland. Also,
they wanted to bring justice to children s deaths and other cases involving them. They did not rest

Binary Fission Lab Report
Binary fission is a process that only happens in prokaryotic cells, or bacteria.I modelled the
process of fission in a bacteria cell. This process is basically mitosis but in prokaryotes. The
steps are incredibly similar, but at the same time are much simpler. It only consists of 4 steps.
The first step is when the bacteria are already in its jumbled chromosome form as it does not
have a membrane bound nucleus. The chromosomes begin to separate, and the bacteria gets
wider. After that, the separated chromosomes grow, and the cell membrane begins to close in the
middle, known as the cell cleavage furrow, which is an example of cytokinesis. Then finally, you
will have two prokaryotic cells that are the identical to the parent cell. This is an example of
asexual reproduction. I modelled this by using the felt paper to show the membrane s of the cell
and the pipe cleaners are the jumbled nucleus. Some limitations is that I couldn t show how it
expands properly.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This process can also happen in single celled organisms like protozoa or the hydra. It also can
happen in jellyfish and tapeworm. Interestingly, fission also happens in organelles in the cell like
the mitochondria. This is called mitochondrial fission and is needed for correct metabolism in the
cell. Metabolism is the well being and maintaining of that There are four different types of binary
fission. There is irregular, longitudinal, transverse, and oblique. In irregular fission, cytokinesis
takes place horizontally instead of vertically. Longitudinal fission is the most common where
cytokinesis is vertically, like in mitosis. Transverse fission is where it happens in an arc shape.
Oblique fission is in any random direction. Binary fission usually occurs every 20 minutes, which
is long compared to mitosis. Organisms of the archaea class also use this

The Class Of African American History
Color You walk into the classroom and it s the most awkward thing ever. You regret the day you
signed up for this class...African American history. But why? Why did everyone inelegantly stare?
Why does your skin color make matters this problematic? It s essential that a class like African
American history becomes more diverse. Most assume that this class is aiming for an African
Americanaudience. This assumption is completely misleading, but most fall the underdog to. The
homogeneity society amongst the students is bare and should be altered.
I m currently enrolled in African American history. I ve noticed there aren t any people outside
of the African American race in the class. The teacher has noticed out of all 9 years he s been
teaching the class, he s had maybe 8 people that weren t African American. I feel there is no
imagined community within this learning space. In Pratt s essay she tells how Benedict
Anderson refers to an imagined community. Anderson s idea of an imagined community is
communities exist as imagined entities in which people will never know most of their fellow
members, meet them or even hear of them, yet in the minds of each other lives the image of
their communication (327). All classes are expected to be diverse and full of divergence. But
yet, we re all in some way in which most think is by race, already in deep relation. The absence of
nonconformity leaves a toll on the class, whereas we are interested in how people from different
races feel

Socrates On Death
With the end of his trial and fate of his life determined, Socrates was sentenced to death. Though, he
was not surprised that they found him guilty and sentenced him to death, it was quite peculiar the
outcome of the votes that found him guilty were not vastly far apart compared to the people who
voted to sentence him to death. While pondering over he thought of his death, Socratesgave his own
perspective on the possibilities on what could be after he is executed. Though he gave a relatable
perspective on death which was relatively optimistic, my own view is moderately different than that
of Socrates. After his fate is determined, Socrates articulates that he is not as much as concerned
with avoiding death as he is to avoiding unrighteousness, which he says is faster than death... Show

Whereas in this eternal life, a man would not be punished and put to death for questioning. If
this may be the truth of the result of the afterlife when passing on, one will be much happier
while also being immortal. For these reasons he see s death as an end to all his troubles. He
believes evil can do no harm to a good man, rather it be in this world or the external realm of
another. Socrates comes to the realization his life has ended and theirs to be lived. Although, he
does not know which would be the better selection, for that is what only God may know. There
are experiences in life which some of use will come across and some of us will not. But what is
inevitable, the one eternal experience we all will have, is the end to one s life we know as
death. Everyone s view on what comes after death is vastly different. Whether it may be one of
Socrates views as a state of nothingness, or awaiting our entrance into heaven or being sent to hell.
We all believe in our own outlook of what to expect after our life has come to an

Linear Machines During World War I
At the end of World War I there were 4 different rotor based cipher machines invented by four
men Edward Hebern (USA), Arthur Scheribus (Germany), Hugo Koch (Netherlands), Arvid
Damm (Sweden) in four different countries within years of each other. These types of rotor
machines were used in World War II and provided a strong encryption method while also making it
easier for people to use.
The Hebern Rotor Machine invented by Edward Hebern was a mix between a standard typewriter
and an electric typewriter. Edward attempted to build and market his machine and was confident
enough in that prospect that he secured investors and started a company called Hebern Electric

These men realized that the Diffie Hellman method was exposed to people listening to the
exchanges man in the middle attack and capturing the prime numbers used with the public keys
given. With that information hackers are able to crack the code leaving the encryption vulnerable.
RSA allows a message to be encrypted asymmetrically using the public key. It is based upon not
having the ability to factor the product of two large prime numbers. The public key consists of the
modulus and encryption exponent. The sender uses the receiver s public key to encrypt the
message which can only be decrypted in a reasonable time using the private decryption key of the
receiver.
Elliptic Curve cryptography is a method of encryption that involves the algebraic structure of an
elliptic curve. An important observation of an elliptic curve that is drawn is that there is some
horizontal symmetry. This allows for plotting from one point to another, then bouncing from the
second point down to the reflection of the curve to get a value. The advantage with Elliptic Curve
cryptography is that there is no backdoor method to cracking the code and it is harder and takes
longer than factoring does with

Evil Is The Devoid Of Good Intentions
What is evil? I believe that evil is the devoid of good intentions. Evil can also corrupt an individual
and society and evil can cause suffering. Evil is also wicked that causes harm, crime, misfortune,
and in some instances war. Throughout this course I have been able to study evil in eastern
religions, Hinduismand Buddhismrespectively. There representation of evil is far different than
my view of evil was before this class. In this paper, I will discuss the evil ideologies of both
religions and then choose which ideology that I prefer. Hinduism has a very interesting aspect to
evil. I learned this right way though our reading of the Ramayana. The Ramayana is all about two
main elements; demons and devotion. Ravana, is a demon Rakshasa and is in love with Sita. Sita
is the sister of Ramaand is taken by Ravana. Ravana heard that their was a beautiful maiden and
he was just in love with the description that he was getting of her. Ravana said that he needs to
go and get her. Ravana than comes up with his master plan. He tells Mareecha to disguise
himself as a deer and try to lead Rama to chase you into the forest. When Rama runs into the
forest Ravana swoops in and takes Sita to Lanka, where Ravana is king (The Ramayana). At this
point Ravana has Sita which is good, it is what he wanted there is only one problem. Ravana can
not touch Sita because she does not love him. So at this point it is very boring until the big battle.

Third Of May 1808 Essay
Francisco Goya s painting titled The Third of May 1808 represents its intended message about
war. The Third of May 1808 was composed during the era of romanticism in 1814. In this work,
Goya Depicts a gruesome scene during the spanish uprising at the beginning of the peninsula war.
This piece was completed in 1814, but was lost and damaged in World War
2. It has since been
found and is located in Madrid, Spain. The Third of May 1808 is a traditional oil on canvas piece.
This painting was meant to commemorate those who stood up and fought against the French during
the uprising.

The image of a stigma on the focus of the piece can be seen. Just as jesus was nailed to the cross,
this man bears his wound. This stood for he men, women, and children who will die today will be
remembered in the hearts of the spanish who would go to fight the French for the oncoming years.
The stigma in the man s hand is the most important part of the painting. In the group of men about
to be executed, there is a friar praying before his death.
Illumination is used almost exclusively in this piece. In the past, Illumination techniques have
portrayed the presence of God or some sort of divine presence. In Goya s painting there is no
religious connotation. There is more of an opposing connotation. The light is used to kill, not
heal. The viewer s eyes are carried by the outlines of the lantern. The lights of the lantern carry
you to the dead body of a man. With The Third of May 1808 Goya displayed the disasters of war
with a very fitting art style. Illumination was used well to bring the focal point of the piece to the
hopeless men ready to

Importance Of Happiness In Everyday Life
Happiness in Everyday Life Early morning, the birds start chirping and the crisp, cool air that
glides through the windows awake the whole city. The smell of the bloomed flowers in the
garden refreshes, and relaxes your whole state of mind. Sitting comfortably on the wooden
porch, drinking hot brewed coffee and listening to the sounds of nature washes all your worries
away. With a clear mind, the shining sun that squeezes between the smoky clouds reminds you
of a new day. Or perhaps a hot cleansing bubble bath, filled with a layer of surfactant lavender
scented foam, relaxing your body from head to toe after a long day of work. In both cases, the
relaxing and refreshing routines both exhibit one of the many forms of happiness. Happiness is
the state of being happy. Happiness, an important part of the world today because happiness is
really all we ve got, this benefits not only our personal lives, but our societal lives as well, in this
state of mind we can create a more peaceful, energetic, and compassionate world. The state of
being happy and content, started way back in Christian philosophy. Happiness can include
listening to uplifting, relaxing music to boost your mood and appearance. Being in this state of
mind, anything can uplift your mood, such as music. Whether it s being performed, danced to,
or singing along it can increase the way you feel and even lift the spirts up. You often hear
people listening to music when feeling mournful, upset or even just while showering, and this is
because it boosts your mood and makes you feel delightful. Music is a big part of society, it s
played on the radio, elevators, and even performed and taught in middle school. The enjoyment
and jubilation that music brings to everyone in the world today is why it makes a huge impact on
those suffering with depression, anxiety, and even helps with heart rate. For many people
happiness is a condition that the many would consider temporary, which is because they let
external situations get in between. Being emotionally stable and happy can create a positive effect
on the world. We can all relate back to when we undergo some difficult times, or not feeling the
greatest. However, I know when it s me in that position, I don t

Manipulative Techniques In Tartuffe
Throughout Moliere s Tartuffe both Cleante and Dorine attempt to expose Tartuffes hypocrisy,
confront Marianne of her frailty and expose the folly of Orgon. They use different strategies to
complete this task, and in the end, the tasks are accomplished. Cleante uses a reason based style,
while Dorine used a manipulative method to accomplish her goals. Although both seem to affect
this goal, in the end, Cleante s strategy seems to prevail.
Dorine is the lady s maid to Marianne and she primarily attempts to confront the frailty of
Marianne. Moliere reveals that Dorine s character is one that primarily relies on passive
aggressive actions. This is seen through her conversations throughout the play, particularly in Act 2

and confronts the fact that Marianne has been passive in her relationship with Valere. Although
Marianne wants out of the marriage scheme set up by Orgon(2.3, line 6) and claims to love Valere,
she has decided to kill herself instead of address the situation head on. Unfortunately, Valere does

The film Bartleby represents the themes and characters of the story in numerous ways. Two major
themes of the story include choices and morality. In regard to making choices, Bartleby
continuously stated the phrase I would prefer not to , which shows that he took advantage of his
right to make decisions even if they did not please everyone else. This theme was translated in the
film because this is a phrase that Bartleby also stated countless times. The theme of mortality was
displayed in the short storywhen the narrator had a difficult time deciding how long he should

Theme Of Death On The Nile, And Then There Were None
In her novels Death on the Nile and And Then There Were None Agatha Christie uses
foreshadowing and both external and internal conflict to portray the theme of her novel, the idea
that justice will always triumph. In Death on the Nile Poiret undertakes the position of bringing
about what s due to the guilty character. At the same time in And Then There Were None the
protagonist is unclear because while Justice Wargrave is the one seeking justice, his methods are
flawed. Agatha Christieuses mystery in both of her books to emphasize how the truth will come out
in the end. This is clearly shown in Death on The Nile where the outcome is clear cut while And
Then There Were None is undefined and elusive. Although both books use morbid and unethical

Patient privacy being tampered with wins as the biggest disadvantage of implementing email and
social media in the healthcare marketing circle. For example, if the messages to the patients are not
encrypted effectively, they may be accessed by unauthorized individuals. Most establishments
require putting the word secure before any email message; which automatically encrypts any email
that is crossing the healthcare software barrier.
Incoming and outgoing messages whether it is email or social media need to be filtered and
supervised at all times to prevent spam and virus mishaps. If unprofessional content is shared by the
healthcare team, this may lead to tarnishing and a distasteful image of the profession. Another
disadvantage that can be created is violating patient boundaries as they may extend to become
friends on the social media platforms (Ventola, 2014).
Social media tends to be slightly loose at times with an abundance of opinions and statements. It
could only take one statement being made by a potential consumer or any type of marketing

Why Is Gladiator Considered A Good Person
Society always judges people on their actions, thinking about how moral or immoral. In the movie
Gladiator by Ridley Scott, they explore the wrongs of man. The protagonist, Maximus Decimus
Meridius is portrayed as a good person because of his honorability. On the other hand, Commodus
is portrayed as bad or evilbecause of the way he treats the good person. While stories usually have
good and bad characters, there s a sign on how we know which one is bad and which one isn t.
People usually get attracted to the protagonist rather than the antagonist. In Gladiator, Meridius
is shown as a good person because of his honorability and pride. Three weeks from now, I will be
harvesting my crops. Imagine where you will be, and it will be so. Hold the line! Stay with me!

Commodus, the antagonist from Gladiator, is considered a bad person because of the way he
treats other characters. If you re very good, tomorrow night I ll tell you the story of emperor
Claudius who was betrayed by those closest to him, by his own blood. They whispered in dark
corners and went out late at night and conspired and conspired but the emperor Claudius knew
they were up to something. He knew they were busy little bees. And one night he sat down with
one of them and he looked at her and he said, Tell me what you ve been doing busy little bee or I
shall strike down those dearest to you. You shall watch as I bathe in their blood. And the emperor
was heartbroken. The little bee had wounded him more deeply than anyone else could ever have

across the table. While he is talking to the kid, he wants to tell his sister that if she doesn t tell him
everything, he will murder his nephew, hence the audience knowing he s a bad/evil

He is someone people would never guess to kill two girls, but the story gives us the perspective of
knowing he could be capable of it. The tension grows through out the story, and I believe that it is

Certain parts of the tension are, but the one main question is never answered. The tension builds
when one of the sisters goes up to the room alone, and we know that the one left on the stairs
becomes aware that something isn t right. Right at this point we want to know what is going on in
the room, and sooner or later we re going to find out.
Once Rhea doesn t come down from the room for quite some time, Rhoda follows checking up

John Wilkes Booth s Assassination
John Wilkes Booth is an important figure of history because he assassinated Abraham Lincoln.
President Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of the United States of America; he was
assassinated by John Wilkes Booth on April 15, 1865. The Civil War had just finished, and the
Union was victorious. Meanwhile, Booth was a Confederate supporter. Booth had many factors to
motivate him to killLincoln, but there were some very important ones that are probably the reason
he killed Lincoln.
First, Booth thought Lincoln was a tyrant and should be killed. After Booth shot President Lincoln
he jumped off stage and yelled Sic semper tyrannis! (Thus ever to tyrants) The south is avenged!
This shows that Booth thinks Lincoln is a tyrant. Also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

involved with a kidnapping plan. It also says the plan including bringing him to Richmond and
either demand peace or the release of Confederate supporters. In this piece of evidence he is saying
that he wants to have revenge and avenge the south. When he jumped off of the stage he yelled the
south is avenged. That also says that he thinks he is getting revenge for the south.
Additionally, he is mad that his kidnapping plan didn t work. biography.com says Frustrated at
seeing his plot fail Booth resolved to go to an even further extreme. This is saying that Booth was
frustrated that his plot failed, and he was going to assassinate the president. biography.com also
says Booth enlisted six southern sympathizers, but their March 1865 attempt in Washington D.C
failed. This shows his support of the South, and it also shows how their plan failed.
John Wilkes Booth, the murderer of Lincoln, had many reasons for his actions. This is very
important to people because there still might be some unknown factors for why John Wilkes Booth
slaughtered Lincoln. Booth thought that assassinating Lincoln was a good idea, but it really only

The Solar Of Solar Module
Purpose
In the present era where energy demands growing rapidly the solar module is one of the solutions
and a good one. More energy from the sunlight strikes the Earth in one hour (4.3 Г— 1020 J) than
all the energy consumed on the planet in a year (4.1 Г— 1020 J) therefore solar energy has a bright
future ahead. The first solar cell was invented in 1953 and had efficacy rate of 4 present while
toady s solar cell is 40 present efficient. SolarCity is using the one of the efficient solar panels
which yields 30 to 40 percent more energy than similar size solar module available in the market.
Components
There are many components those makes a solar panel. These components can be defined as
external and internal components. A basic unit of the solar module is a solar cell and many solar
cells create one solar module and more than one solar module creates an array.
External Components
External components are components which are used in the solar module s external body as
mention in the figure below in layers.

Persuasive Essay On Snow Leopards
Endangered species is a quandary to an ecosystem in an environment. The snow leopard is an
animal that has been endangered since 1972. They are endangered for the most common reasons
such as being hunted for fur but also for more effective reasons for the peopleof the snow leopard s
habitat, central Asia. The snow leopardis at an advantage of being at thetop of the food chain, but
their food source is beginning to take a toll as that is being hunted as well. Regardless of
endangering factors to the snow leopard, any contingencies have to becontemplated to save what s
left of the population. The snow leopard is a pantherauncia whose conservation status is
endangered. Therationale for this predicament is that it is quite conventional for hunters in central
Asia to hunt these animals for their fur. Huntingfor fur is the most frequent vindication for a
species to go endangered; however, now leopards have another reason to be hunted and that is
for their organs, bones, and skin. These circumstances are more advantageous for Asian
medicines.Hunting is not only a concern for the snow leopard but also to livestock such as
sheep and goats. However, these hunts are a key component to snow leopards because these
animals are what snow leopards prey on. With a viable food source being withdrawn from a
habitat, the snow leopards are found to be desperate for a food source. Snow leopards are in an
onerous condition if the hunts continue and their food source is being extracted. The
endangerment of the snow leopard not only lies on the foundation of excessive hunts and food
removal but also in the uncontrollable ecosystem transformations. Snow leopards are found in the
mountainous terrain of central Asia. Normally they live 3,000 and 5,400 meters aloft sea level.
However, if the latitude is lower, for say 1,000 meters above sea level then climates are instituted
to be cold and dry letting a limited amount of vegetation, grass or shrubs, to grow, which only grow
in vertiginous inclinations of the mountains. Snow leopards will habitually appoint subdued
terrains, escarpments, or ravines. This ecosystem may be at a lost, though, as global climate

Coffee
My topic of choice is coffee. I personally drink a large amount of it everyday. I spent a lot of time
trying to figure out what I wanted my topic to be. Coffee is something I enjoy everyday and am
curiosity about. At one time I wanted to open my own coffee shop. That dream is dead, but I still
enjoy the beverage, often in a hip, public place surrounded by friends. I believe this topic will
keep me focused and interested and enlighten me on current arguments and facts. I am interested in
the health benefits and the business aspects of the beloved brew. I had an intention at one time of
pursuing nutrition as a degree, so health information intrigues me. Currently, I am considering
business as a degree plan. Researching the business aspect may help prepare me for that future

Essay about Bioterrorism
Bioterrorism Viral Hemorrhagic Fever
Abstract
Viral hemorrhagic fever is one of the most feared diseases of today s time. Although most people
have heard of anthrax, smallpox and the plague, viral hemorrhagic fever has become a potent
weapon used for bioterrorism, silently killing its victims and instilling fear in the rest of the
population. Viral hemorrhagic fevercan be divided into 4 families. Although each family of viral
hemorrhagic fever may have some of its own unique characteristics, the four families are generally
fairly similar regarding the high fevers and hemorrhages they cause. Because of past outbreaks of
viral hemorrhagic fever, scientists have reason to believe that terrorists have easier access to the

The reason why the Ebola and Marburg viruses are grouped together is because they have similar
symptoms. The incubation period is about 1 week, which means it takes about 1 2 week for
symptoms to occur (Wener n.p.). The symptoms can range from something as mild as headaches
and sore throats to disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), which means clotting of the
blood. Other symptoms include fevers, arthritis, prostration, bleeding diathesis, thrombocytopenia
and platelet dysfunction. Some nonspecific clinical effects include nausea, pain in the stomach,
diarrhea, encephalitis and rashes (Schlossberg 53). Furthermore, viral hemorrhagic fever can
potentially lead to neurologic, hepatic, pulmonary, and renal disorders (Wener n.p.).
What makes Ebola such a serious disease is that fact that 90% of the people who are diagnosed
with this disease die, and the few surviving patients suffer from hair loss and sensory problems
(Wener n.p.). On the other hand, Marburg hemorrhagic fever has a 23 70% mortality rate. The
history behind the Marburg hemorrhagic fever helps explain why VHF is so dangerous to the
public and can easily be spread all across the globe. Marburg hemorrhagic fever was first
discovered in 1967 in Marburg, Germany when lab workers were contracted with the disease after
handling imported monkeys from Africa (Center for Disease Control n.p.). Because Ebola and
Marburg hemorrhagic fever are both zoonotic, they can be transmitted from

Comparing Duracell Army Adisement And A ToyR. Military...

Even with these differences they can have the ability to get similar points across. This is especially
true for the two advertisements that I chose. I chose to do a Duracell military advertisement and a
Toys R Us military advertisement. Both used pathos (emotion) to appeal to consumers. The
advertisements included a familyconsisting of two parents and one young child making the main
target audience of both ordinary families, specifically military families with children. The Duracell
military advertisement appeals to the viewer s emotion. In the commercial it starts with a military
father sitting in his bunk with a little stuffed teddy bear. He places the Duracell batteries into a

Project Pluto Will Adopt The Incremental Build Model Essay
Project Pluto will adopt the Incremental build model to deliver the required objectives. It is a build
test demonstrate model of iterative development in which frequent demonstrations of progress and
verification and validation of work to date are emphasized. Business requirements are allocated to
various elements of the software architecture, and the architecture is partitioned into a prioritized
sequence of builds. Each build adds new capabilities to the incrementally growing product. The
Incremental build model provides Project Pluto with the advantages of continuous integration,
verification, and validationof the evolving product, frequent demonstration of progress, early
warning of problems, early delivery of subset capabilities, and systematic incorporation of rework
that may occur during the software development (Fairley, 2009, p. 64). A significant advantage of
an Incremental build process is that features built first are verified, validated, and demonstrated
most frequently because subsequent builds incorporate the features of the earlier builds. In
building the software to control a nuclear reactor, for example, the emergency shutdown software
could be built first. Operation of emergency shutdown (scramming) would then be verified and
validated in conjunction with the features of each successive build. Planning an Incremental build
project involves planning for analysis and design plus planning the number of and frequency of

Charles Le Brun s Influence on the Palace of Versailles
Charles Le Brun, a renowned 17th century artist politician lived between 1619 and 1690. He
gained prominence through his impeccable paintings, coupled with his mastery of creation in the
architecture of gardens, buildings, and in sculptures. Le Brun drew his inspiration from
Michelangelo, which expanded his horizons by creating sculptures and architecture, alongside
painting. As one of the dominant artists in France, Le Brun put immense value on visual
expression in an era of expressionism. He is responsible for the decoration in the Palace of Versailles
, Hesselin, and Vaux. In fact, Le Brun designed almost every decorative detail in the Palace of
Versailles, which included decorations, artwork, and landscape. Built for King Louis XIV, the
Palace of Versailles is an elaborate, magnificent representation of French Baroque architecture,
and it is one of the most famous royal chateaus in France. The scale of its decoration comprises
of the rhythmic repetition of large windows expressing core values of Baroque art. According to
Baroque architecture, buildings required a focal point, and within the interior of the Palace of
Versailles, the point of focus is the King s bed. Palace of Versailles is a perfect example of how

Evaluating The Play Julius Caesar
In this project we had to create a film that incorporated the play Julius Caesar by Shakespeare, by
using a reality TV show. One of the very first obstacles we had went through was deciding on
which reality TV to use. I had wanted to do the reality TV show called Survivor, but most of my
other group members wanted to do The Kardashians. The reason I had wanted to do survivor was
because I felt like it gave our filma really good structure to follow unlike The Kardashians. We
easily resolved this issue by just taking a vote, which led to my group using The Kardashians.

New Economic Imperialism Essay example
New Economic Imperialism
Those in power define national interests as the preservation of the existing set of economic, social,
and political relationships. Therefore, the national interest of the supranational capitalist society is
the interests of the upper class, allied throughout the globe. The United States capitalist class has
proposed to preserve and extend U.S. capitalism by a policy of empire building to satisfy the need
for large export markets that could supply cheap inputs and guarantee consumption.
The road to the current economic imperial structure prevalent in international affairs is a long and
complicated one. During the twentieth century the capitalist elite began forming organizations in ...

Top executives from the worlds leading multinational corporations meet with top national political

Analysis Of Bartleby, The Scrivener
Morals are an essential part of the human psyche. In Herman Melville s Bartleby, the Scrivener:
A Story of Wall Street, the scribe Bartleby works for a lawyer for a short period of time. During
the time, the lawyer notices Bartleby s odd characteristics which are similar to the characteristics of
how lepers in The Bible are treated. In the short story, Melville infuses the story with symbols
such as the Dead Letter Office and a key phrase that alludes to the narrator s failure to answer the
moral question that Bartleby presents of how lepers should be treated in society. As the story
unfolds, the reader finds that the narrator, a profitable lawyer who worked under the late John
Jacob Astor, believes in living life easily or without... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The narrator reasons that releasing Bartleby from his job would be unnecessarily cruel which
indicates his need to do the right thing. The narrator s pity is inexplicably a reason for Bartleby s
continued employment: What miserable friendlessness and loneliness are here revealed! His
poverty is great; but his solitude how horrible! (673). In this case, the narrator faces the
challenge of giving the poor scribe a place to stay and survive or releasing Bartleby onto the
streets where another employer may not be so kind. He also feels, however, that Bartleby s
quirks are not at all easy to accommodate: In plain fact, he had now become a millstone to me, not
only useless as a necklace, but afflictive to bear (676). The narrator, in this section, faces the need
to do the socially acceptable thing. After all, a man who does not work should not be paid or
allowed to remain employed. As literary critic Richard J. Zlogar explained in a commentary that
analogized Melville s short story with certain parts of The Bible, The narrator s challenge, then, if
he is to heal Bartleby s illness in its social aspect, is the same challenge that confronted Jesus
Christ in his interaction with the leper, as discussed by Crossan: he must force his peers either to
reject him from their community or to accept the leper within it as well (Zlogar 521). Zlogar s
commentary provides insight on what the narrator s options are; he must either

Essay on The Themes of Noting and Deception in Much Ado...
The Themes of Noting and Deception in Much Ado About Nothing Discuss the themes of noting
and deception in Much Ado About Nothing The play Much Ado About Nothing was written by
Williams Shakespeare in the late 1600 s and over four centuries later it is still a significantly
popular play and has widespread appeal. The play explores many themes including love, treachery,
friendship, society and traditions. These five themes mentioned are still very much relevant in a
lot of people s lives today. You ll find that a lot of television programmes, movies, magazines and
novels are structured around at least one or more of these themes, if not all at the same time. The

Throughout the play Shakespeare uses the wittiness of the numerous characters taking part in the
performance to demonstrate his fondness of using puns, sexual innuendos and creating double
meanings. Puns, sexual innuendos and double meanings can be a technique of deception, the title
Much Ado About Nothing being the very first example. This is due to the way Shakespeare plays
with the word nothing in the title Much Ado About Nothing . In the late 16th century the word
nothing would have been pronounced noting Thus, the play s title could read: Much Ado About
Noting . Already Shakespeare hints that there might be a double meaning involving the word
nothing . Without a doubt many of the players participate in the actions of observing, listening and
writing, or noting. Also, in Shakespeare s period, a thing referred to a man s genitals, so therefore
the word no thing may have been an Elizabethan euphemism for female genitalia. This might
insinuate Shakespeare s love of using sexual innuendos to create double meanings, a means of
deception and henceforth connecting to the title once again. Another example of Shakespeare using
sexual innuendos as a method of deception is the conversation between Benedick and

Theme Of Ambition In Julius Caesar
And to speak truth of Caesar, I have not known when his affections swayed more than his reason.
But tis a common proof that lowliness is a young ambition s ladder, whereto the climber upward
turns his face. But when he once attains the upmost round,he then unto the ladder turns his back,
looks to the clouds, scorning the base degrees by which he did ascend.(II,i,19 27) In this part of
his soliloquy, Brutus is convincing himself that Caesar is going to climb the ladder of ambition
and become a tyrant. He doesn t give valid facts to prove this, just the possibility. Brutus doesn t
trust the leader of the conspiracy, Cassius, but joins him anyway. Even though he doesn t trust him,
he let s himself be flattered and tricked by Cassius. Brutus says he trusts Caesar and that he is his
friend. If that was true he wouldn t have to killhim. Also, Brutus says he will do anything for honor,
and the conspirators say that they are doing an honorable thing yet they hide in the shadows.
Brutus is very good at persuading people; he convinced himself to kill his best friend. He doesn t
give facts to prove that Caesar will become a horrible tyrant, just the possibility. He says that rulers

Sklovsky Art As Device Essay
Viktor Shklovsky: Art as Technique or Art as Device Viktor Borisovich Shklovsky (1893 1984)
was one of the founders of the intellectual movement OPOJAZ (ObЕЎДЌestvo izuДЌenija

Shklovsky was a formalist and closely tied to Russian Formalism; Shklovsky, Boris Eichenbaum,
[Vladimir Propp], Yary Tynyanov, and other Formalists sought to put literary theory on a par with
the natural sciences (Davis 51). For one thing, these gentlemen sought to understand art by breaking
it down into parts and identifying the different devices in play, collections of devices that interact
in a textual field (Davis 51). It was in 1917 that Shklovsky, at an astonishing... Show more content

Identity And Morals Throughout Adolescence And Young...
Just like how one must discover and establish their identity and morals throughout adolescence and
young adulthood, one must find their voice through writing as well. It is a difficult feat to find the
proper sum of humor, seriousness, casualness, pretentiousness, or satire. This is something that
everyone struggles with as they routinely take pento paper. Of course, this is all extremely
subjective, but until recently my writingvoice sucked. As I climbed the academic ladder, clumsily
bouncing from teacher to teacher, I heard many varying opinions about my writing. It is not light
hearted enough , this is too light hearted, Emily , this needs more commas , use less commas and
just shorten the sentences , this is awkward , this is eloquent , and try harder next time. I
questioned every word that I used, contemplated every sentence structure that I wrote, and second
guessed every idea that I had. I eventually became a writing robot that would methodically piece
together papers that were well received, but I was never proud of. I promised myself that as I
entered college, I would change my writing practices, no longer consider only my teacher as the
audience, and use my voice. The following that ensues is my initial attempt, successful or not, at
following through with my promise.
For the first project of this class, I faced a familiar foe: rhetorical analysis. This was a juncture in
my writing path, where I could continue down the path of mechanical meticulous

Wild Lands Policy Summary
Will new government policies that designate areas as Wild Lands hurt local economies?
According to the first article or testimony I read which was titled Testimony before the House
Natural Resources Committee Hearing on The Impact of the Administration s Wild Lands Order
on Jobs and Economic Growth by Mike Lee, Yes. He not only believes that it will hurt local
economies but that it is illegal. He states that under the U.S. Constitution, Congress has the sole
authority to regulate federal lands. For public lands, Congress delegates that authority to the
Interior Secretary in a series of federal laws, including the Bureau of Land Management Organic
Act or the Federal Land Policy and Management Act (FLPMA). For wilderness designation,

This article talks about the Wilderness Act that was passed in 1964, the enactment of the
Federal Land Policy and Management Act (FLPMA) in 1976, and the Wild Lands Policy in
2010. She discusses the history of these acts and policies. The article describes how these acts
and policies passed and the different litigation that came from them. The Wild Lands Policy is
described in detail in section V. The article first describes the three ways the new Wild Lands
Policy was to work. The first way was it affirmed that the agency should consider wilderness
values as an integral component of its multiple use mission, identifying lands with wilderness
characteristics (LWC) in its mandatory section 201 inventories. Second, the Policy directed
BLM to use its section 202 land use planning authority to consider designating appropriate LWC
as Wild Lands, that is, lands that the agency would protect in amended RMPs by avoiding
impairment to their wilderness characteristics. Third, for project level decisions in areas not yet
inventoried under the new framework, the Policy instructed BLM to inventory apparent
wilderness characteristics, and then discuss the proposed project s effects to them as well as
measures to minimize those effects in a NEPA analysis. (Brumfield, v.44, I1) The article then
describes each area in its own section, section A is Inventory, section B is Land Use Planning,
and section C is Project Level Decisions. In section VI the Death and Afterlife of the Wild Lands
Policy is discussed in detail. She talks about how the policy sparked immediate protest and legal
challenges. In April 2011 the opposition to the Wild Lands Policy took full effect. There was a
congressional rider put into place that prohibited the use of funds to implement the policy. Then

The Importance of Samuel Pepys Diary
The Importance of Samuel Pepys Diary
Imagine witnessing one of the most defining points in the history of England and living to speak
of it, Samuel Pepys did just that. Samuel Pepys kept a diary while major events in history went on
throughout his life. Pepys began writing his dairy on January 1, 1660 and concluded it in 1669.
The diary contained Samuel Pepys inner most personal thoughts and was only intended for
personal keeping but went on to become famous. Samuel Pepys diary is one of the most important
pieces of literature in England s history because it tells descriptive information about the coronation
of King Charles II, detailed crucial events in history, and outlined how people lived in mid 17th
century England.
Samuel Pepys wrote about many important things in his diary and one of those items happened
to be about King Charles II coronation. Pepys started writing April 22, 1661, the day before the
coronation. He wrote about the King s procession Ye Tower to White Hall which is where the
coronation was to be held. Pepys was very excited for this day writing, it is impossible to relate
the glory of this day (Samuel Pepys). He wrote about the party in the streets and the excitement
of the day. The following day was the coronation. The coronation day it self was a very glorious
and special day for all the people in England. Pepys wrote his observations on how many people
were there, praised the king and how marvelous he looked, and took into account the order in

William Wordsworth s The Preface
Throughout history, at least until the late 1700s, poetry had always been centered on specific
guidelines that one must follow when expressing their feelings. However, once the late 1700s came
around in Europe, there was a sudden shift in the idealized poetry construction. The main reason for
this revolution was the publication of William Wordsworths The Preface, which was a part of the
Lyrical Ballads, in which he stated his exact intentions for the Romantic Period of literature. This
period exemplified the radical changes that were beginning to occur in Europe, as well as other
places around the world.
In general, writers of this period expressed themselves through the use of imagination and
emotion instead of scholarly thoughts. In other words, they sought to use their inner eye in
order to see the world around them more clearly and accurately. Also, they believed all good
aspects of life came directly from nature, including the inherent good of humans as well as
divine intervention. The writers believed that by isolating oneself in nature, he or she would be
able to become more self aware and dependent. Due to this belief, the authors considered an
important part of this period of literature to be favoring the individual self over society as a
whole. Various parts of life could be included in this, but mostly just politics and social reform.
Many poets were a part of this radical change in literature: Samuel Taylor Coleridge, William
Wordsworth, Jane Austen, and

Environmental Issues in North America and the World Introduction North America has been struggling immensely since the last century with air and water pollution, deforestation, and overpopulation. These struggles are due to poor prevention planning and industrial manifestation. Pollution is changing the atmosphere much sooner than expected and global warming is predicted to overwhelm the atmosphere within the next half of a century. In order to sustain the environment and atmosphere humans must take immediate action right now. The longer we wait to start immediate prevention, the sooner our air and water supplies will diminish. Unfortunately, it is not only North America that needs to change it is many other countries and regions of the world. Prevention and preservation is up... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Air Pollution and Global Warming The biggest cause of air pollution in North America comes from carbon dioxide emissions. Fossil fuel, electricity, and vehicle technology has been an enormous contribution to the emission of greenhouse gases. Greenhouse gases are gases that attract radiation from the sun into the earth s exterior and its environment. Producing an overabundance of greenhouse gases at a time may dramatically change the atmosphere as we know it today. The ozone layer that protects human beings and many other species of plants and animals from the sun s excruciating rays may deplete or be damaged due to too much pollution. The United States heavy demand of fossil fuels for transportation is causing extreme confliction and competitiveness with many other countries. Japan became so concerned with these issues that they devised a plan that could bring countries together to compromise this extremely difficult issue. The Kyoto Protocol is a negotiation put together by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The treaty was compromised in Kyoto, Japan in 1997. Countries that formally approve this protocol devote to decrease the amount of released greenhouse gases, or trade the number of emissions allowed from sustaining or raising the emissions of greenhouse gases. The United States of America was not among these countries that signed the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first big ethics presented in the book was honor and commitment. The big ethical question presented in the book was, should you always follow orders even if you know they are wrong? Santiago a guy from Dawson and Downey squad, was killed by a rag stuffed in his throat where it was hard for him to breathe and plus he had a medical condition that sped up the speed of his death. Downey and Dawson were ordered by their commander, Colonel Jessup ordered them to do that to Santiago which was the code red, which he specifically told the rest of the platoon to leave Santiago alone. • 5. Climate Change Is Caused By Carbon Emissions Climate change is resulted due to unrestrained pollution. Carbon emissions that enter the earth s atmosphere have a very dangerous effect on our environment, economy and wellbeing. This major problem earth is facing can be fixed if we all work as one. Climate change is caused by carbon emissions being trapped in earth s atmosphere. The pollution that is trapped in our atmosphere then heats up changing earth s climate patterns. The act of burning fossil fuels for energy has the biggest contribution to climate change. Scientists are confident that global temperatures will continue to rise for many years to come, all because of human activities. The intergovernmental panel on climate change also known as the IPCC came to a conclusion that it is 90% probable that the globe is warming due to human activities over the past 250 years. The IPCC, has a large depth of knowledge with having over one thousand three hundred scientists. The IPPC scientists predict a temperature rise of 2.5 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit over the next century. Whilst the climate changes and the globe warms there are several major effects that is having a large impact on our environment, for example the polar ice caps. Each summer due to climate change the polar ice cap is melting due to warm water. Sea ice reflects heat from the sun, while water adsorbs it. Less ice means more heat which means less ice. Temperatures are rising drastically with our last decade being the hottest on record. With the polar ice caps ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Betty Williams Rights Activist How would you feel if you witnessed your child get stripped of his or her rights? How would you feel if your child was treated inhumanely in front of your very own eyes? Children should never be viewed as powerless or be limited of their rights. They should always receive the same rights given to everyone else in the world. People need to stand up, defend, and help children. That s exactly what Betty Williams did. Williams was a determined and hard working peace activist who devoted her life to helping children, and still does today. Had Betty Williams not acted as a representative for children and fought for them, life for children would never be the same. On May 22, 1943, Betty Williams became a face in this world. She was born in Belfast, which is located in Northern Ireland. Williams was part of a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Life for them wasn t always like that. On August 10, 1976, Williams witnessed a horrific incident in her town. A mother was walking down the street with her children, and became victims in a hit and run situation. They were hit by a Provisional Irish Republican Army. All of the three children died, but their mother, Anne Maguire, survived. Unfortunately, Anne Maguire couldn t bear with the pain of her children s death, and took her own life. Williams noticed that nothing was done about the accident. This tragedy inspired her to represent children and ensure that they live good lives. As Williams once said, We want for our children, as we want for ourselves, our lives at home, at work, and at play to be lives of joy and peace ( Betty Williams 3). Soon after this occurrence, Williams came together with the aunt of the children that were killed, Mairead Maguire. Together, they fought for children. Their goal was to unite all of Northern Ireland. Also, they wanted to bring justice to children s deaths and other cases involving them. They did not rest until changes and improvements were ... • 8. Binary Fission Lab Report Binary fission is a process that only happens in prokaryotic cells, or bacteria.I modelled the process of fission in a bacteria cell. This process is basically mitosis but in prokaryotes. The steps are incredibly similar, but at the same time are much simpler. It only consists of 4 steps. The first step is when the bacteria are already in its jumbled chromosome form as it does not have a membrane bound nucleus. The chromosomes begin to separate, and the bacteria gets wider. After that, the separated chromosomes grow, and the cell membrane begins to close in the middle, known as the cell cleavage furrow, which is an example of cytokinesis. Then finally, you will have two prokaryotic cells that are the identical to the parent cell. This is an example of asexual reproduction. I modelled this by using the felt paper to show the membrane s of the cell and the pipe cleaners are the jumbled nucleus. Some limitations is that I couldn t show how it expands properly.... Metabolism is the well being and maintaining of that There are four different types of binary fission. There is irregular, longitudinal, transverse, and oblique. In irregular fission, cytokinesis takes place horizontally instead of vertically. Longitudinal fission is the most common where cytokinesis is vertically, like in mitosis. Transverse fission is where it happens in an arc shape. Oblique fission is in any random direction. Binary fission usually occurs every 20 minutes, which is long compared to mitosis. • 9. The Class Of African American History Color You walk into the classroom and it s the most awkward thing ever. You regret the day you signed up for this class...African American history. But why? Why did everyone inelegantly stare? Why does your skin color make matters this problematic? It s essential that a class like African American history becomes more diverse. Most assume that this class is aiming for an African Americanaudience. This assumption is completely misleading, but most fall the underdog to. The homogeneity society amongst the students is bare and should be altered. I m currently enrolled in African American history. I ve noticed there aren t any people outside of the African American race in the class. The teacher has noticed out of all 9 years he s been teaching the class, he s had maybe 8 people that weren t African American. I feel there is no imagined community within this learning space. In Pratt s essay she tells how Benedict Anderson refers to an imagined community. Anderson s idea of an imagined community is communities exist as imagined entities in which people will never know most of their fellow members, meet them or even hear of them, yet in the minds of each other lives the image of their communication (327). All classes are expected to be diverse and full of divergence. But yet, we re all in some way in which most think is by race, already in deep relation. The absence of nonconformity leaves a toll on the class, whereas we are interested in how people from different races feel ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Though, he was not surprised that they found him guilty and sentenced him to death, it was quite peculiar the outcome of the votes that found him guilty were not vastly far apart compared to the people who voted to sentence him to death. While pondering over he thought of his death, Socratesgave his own perspective on the possibilities on what could be after he is executed. Though he gave a relatable perspective on death which was relatively optimistic, my own view is moderately different than that of Socrates. After his fate is determined, Socrates articulates that he is not as much as concerned with avoiding death as he is to avoiding unrighteousness, which he says is faster than death... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whereas in this eternal life, a man would not be punished and put to death for questioning. If this may be the truth of the result of the afterlife when passing on, one will be much happier while also being immortal. For these reasons he see s death as an end to all his troubles. He believes evil can do no harm to a good man, rather it be in this world or the external realm of another. Socrates comes to the realization his life has ended and theirs to be lived. Although, he does not know which would be the better selection, for that is what only God may know. There are experiences in life which some of use will come across and some of us will not. But what is inevitable, the one eternal experience we all will have, is the end to one s life we know as death. Everyone s view on what comes after death is vastly different. Linear Machines During World War I At the end of World War I there were 4 different rotor based cipher machines invented by four men Edward Hebern (USA), Arthur Scheribus (Germany), Hugo Koch (Netherlands), Arvid Damm (Sweden) in four different countries within years of each other. These types of rotor machines were used in World War II and provided a strong encryption method while also making it easier for people to use. The Hebern Rotor Machine invented by Edward Hebern was a mix between a standard typewriter and an electric typewriter. Edward attempted to build and market his machine and was confident enough in that prospect that he secured investors and started a company called Hebern Electric Code. It is based upon not having the ability to factor the product of two large prime numbers. The public key consists of the modulus and encryption exponent. The sender uses the receiver s public key to encrypt the message which can only be decrypted in a reasonable time using the private decryption key of the receiver. Elliptic Curve cryptography is a method of encryption that involves the algebraic structure of an elliptic curve. An important observation of an elliptic curve that is drawn is that there is some horizontal symmetry. This allows for plotting from one point to another, then bouncing from the second point down to the reflection of the curve to get a value. The advantage with Elliptic Curve cryptography is that there is no backdoor method to cracking the code and it is harder and takes longer than factoring does with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Evil Is The Devoid Of Good Intentions What is evil? I believe that evil is the devoid of good intentions. Evil can also corrupt an individual and society and evil can cause suffering. Evil is also wicked that causes harm, crime, misfortune, and in some instances war. Throughout this course I have been able to study evil in eastern religions, Hinduismand Buddhismrespectively. There representation of evil is far different than my view of evil was before this class. In this paper, I will discuss the evil ideologies of both religions and then choose which ideology that I prefer. Hinduism has a very interesting aspect to evil. I learned this right way though our reading of the Ramayana. The Ramayana is all about two main elements; demons and devotion. Ravana, is a demon Rakshasa and is in love with Sita. Sita is the sister of Ramaand is taken by Ravana. Ravana heard that their was a beautiful maiden and he was just in love with the description that he was getting of her. Ravana said that he needs to go and get her. Ravana than comes up with his master plan. He tells Mareecha to disguise himself as a deer and try to lead Rama to chase you into the forest. When Rama runs into the forest Ravana swoops in and takes Sita to Lanka, where Ravana is king (The Ramayana). At this point Ravana has Sita which is good, it is what he wanted there is only one problem. Ravana can not touch Sita because she does not love him. The smell of the bloomed flowers in the garden refreshes, and relaxes your whole state of mind. Sitting comfortably on the wooden porch, drinking hot brewed coffee and listening to the sounds of nature washes all your worries away. With a clear mind, the shining sun that squeezes between the smoky clouds reminds you of a new day. Or perhaps a hot cleansing bubble bath, filled with a layer of surfactant lavender scented foam, relaxing your body from head to toe after a long day of work. In both cases, the relaxing and refreshing routines both exhibit one of the many forms of happiness. Happiness is the state of being happy. Happiness, an important part of the world today because happiness is really all we ve got, this benefits not only our personal lives, but our societal lives as well, in this state of mind we can create a more peaceful, energetic, and compassionate world. The state of being happy and content, started way back in Christian philosophy. Happiness can include listening to uplifting, relaxing music to boost your mood and appearance. Being in this state of mind, anything can uplift your mood, such as music. Whether it s being performed, danced to, or singing along it can increase the way you feel and even lift the spirts up. You often hear people listening to music when feeling mournful, upset or even just while showering, and this is because it boosts your mood and makes you feel delightful. Music is a big part of society, it s played on the radio, elevators, and even performed and taught in middle school. The enjoyment and jubilation that music brings to everyone in the world today is why it makes a huge impact on those suffering with depression, anxiety, and even helps with heart rate. For many people happiness is a condition that the many would consider temporary, which is because they let external situations get in between. Being emotionally stable and happy can create a positive effect on the world. We can all relate back to when we undergo some difficult times, or not feeling the greatest. • 33. Persuasive Essay On Snow Leopards Endangered species is a quandary to an ecosystem in an environment. The snow leopard is an animal that has been endangered since 1972. They are endangered for the most common reasons such as being hunted for fur but also for more effective reasons for the peopleof the snow leopard s habitat, central Asia. The snow leopardis at an advantage of being at thetop of the food chain, but their food source is beginning to take a toll as that is being hunted as well. Regardless of endangering factors to the snow leopard, any contingencies have to becontemplated to save what s left of the population. The snow leopard is a pantherauncia whose conservation status is endangered. Therationale for this predicament is that it is quite conventional for hunters in central Asia to hunt these animals for their fur. Huntingfor fur is the most frequent vindication for a species to go endangered; however, now leopards have another reason to be hunted and that is for their organs, bones, and skin. These circumstances are more advantageous for Asian medicines.Hunting is not only a concern for the snow leopard but also to livestock such as sheep and goats. However, these hunts are a key component to snow leopards because these animals are what snow leopards prey on. With a viable food source being withdrawn from a habitat, the snow leopards are found to be desperate for a food source. Snow leopards are in an onerous condition if the hunts continue and their food source is being extracted. The endangerment of the snow leopard not only lies on the foundation of excessive hunts and food removal but also in the uncontrollable ecosystem transformations. Snow leopards are found in the mountainous terrain of central Asia. Normally they live 3,000 and 5,400 meters aloft sea level. However, if the latitude is lower, for say 1,000 meters above sea level then climates are instituted to be cold and dry letting a limited amount of vegetation, grass or shrubs, to grow, which only grow in vertiginous inclinations of the mountains. I believe this topic will keep me focused and interested and enlighten me on current arguments and facts. I am interested in the health benefits and the business aspects of the beloved brew. I had an intention at one time of pursuing nutrition as a degree, so health information intrigues me. Currently, I am considering business as a degree plan. Researching the business aspect may help prepare me for that future and give me a glimpse at what business entails. On a humorous note, I know I will need large doses of caffeine to make it through my college career, so I would like to know my limits. I have read many times over the last few years that coffee is good for you. Others tell me often that it is not, to which I tell them it is, based on material I have read, but not researched. I do not recall much material stating that it is bad, but I know it is out there. Part of my research paper will be in pursuit of finding the facts about the health benefits and harms of the brew. From my limited reading in the past, I have learned that it naturally contains antioxidants that fight free radicals in your body, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Essay about Bioterrorism Bioterrorism Viral Hemorrhagic Fever Abstract Viral hemorrhagic fever is one of the most feared diseases of today s time. Although most people have heard of anthrax, smallpox and the plague, viral hemorrhagic fever has become a potent weapon used for bioterrorism, silently killing its victims and instilling fear in the rest of the population. Viral hemorrhagic fevercan be divided into 4 families. Although each family of viral hemorrhagic fever may have some of its own unique characteristics, the four families are generally fairly similar regarding the high fevers and hemorrhages they cause. Because of past outbreaks of viral hemorrhagic fever, scientists have reason to believe that terrorists have easier access to the deadly viruses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reason why the Ebola and Marburg viruses are grouped together is because they have similar symptoms. The incubation period is about 1 week, which means it takes about 1 2 week for symptoms to occur (Wener n.p.). The symptoms can range from something as mild as headaches and sore throats to disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), which means clotting of the blood. Other symptoms include fevers, arthritis, prostration, bleeding diathesis, thrombocytopenia and platelet dysfunction. Some nonspecific clinical effects include nausea, pain in the stomach, diarrhea, encephalitis and rashes (Schlossberg 53). Furthermore, viral hemorrhagic fever can potentially lead to neurologic, hepatic, pulmonary, and renal disorders (Wener n.p.). What makes Ebola such a serious disease is that fact that 90% of the people who are diagnosed with this disease die, and the few surviving patients suffer from hair loss and sensory problems (Wener n.p.). On the other hand, Marburg hemorrhagic fever has a 23 70% mortality rate. The history behind the Marburg hemorrhagic fever helps explain why VHF is so dangerous to the public and can easily be spread all across the globe. Marburg hemorrhagic fever was first discovered in 1967 in Marburg, Germany when lab workers were contracted with the disease after handling imported monkeys from Africa (Center for Disease Control n.p.). Even with these differences they can have the ability to get similar points across. This is especially true for the two advertisements that I chose. I chose to do a Duracell military advertisement and a Toys R Us military advertisement. Both used pathos (emotion) to appeal to consumers. The advertisements included a familyconsisting of two parents and one young child making the main target audience of both ordinary families, specifically military families with children. The Duracell military advertisement appeals to the viewer s emotion. In the commercial it starts with a military father sitting in his bunk with a little stuffed teddy bear. He places the Duracell batteries into a recorder, speaks into it to record a message, and then places the message in the bear. The setting changes to the inside of a home with a motherand her daughter. They have a package and inside is the teddy bear. The little girlsqueezes the bear and hears her father s voice, which causes the mother to show a look of sadness and longing. The little girl takes the bear with her everywhere, making it obvious that she misses her father very much and just wants him to return home. The sadness seemed to turn to anger when he didn t come home, and she started to neglect the teddy bear. One day she was sitting across from her bear and she hears her father s voice. • 37. Project Pluto Will Adopt The Incremental Build Model Essay Project Pluto will adopt the Incremental build model to deliver the required objectives. It is a build test demonstrate model of iterative development in which frequent demonstrations of progress and verification and validation of work to date are emphasized. Business requirements are allocated to various elements of the software architecture, and the architecture is partitioned into a prioritized sequence of builds. Each build adds new capabilities to the incrementally growing product. The Incremental build model provides Project Pluto with the advantages of continuous integration, verification, and validationof the evolving product, frequent demonstration of progress, early warning of problems, early delivery of subset capabilities, and systematic incorporation of rework that may occur during the software development (Fairley, 2009, p. 64). A significant advantage of an Incremental build process is that features built first are verified, validated, and demonstrated most frequently because subsequent builds incorporate the features of the earlier builds. In building the software to control a nuclear reactor, for example, the emergency shutdown software could be built first. Operation of emergency shutdown (scramming) would then be verified and validated in conjunction with the features of each successive build. In Herman Melville s Bartleby, the Scrivener: A Story of Wall Street, the scribe Bartleby works for a lawyer for a short period of time. During the time, the lawyer notices Bartleby s odd characteristics which are similar to the characteristics of how lepers in The Bible are treated. In the short story, Melville infuses the story with symbols such as the Dead Letter Office and a key phrase that alludes to the narrator s failure to answer the moral question that Bartleby presents of how lepers should be treated in society. The narrator s pity is inexplicably a reason for Bartleby s continued employment: What miserable friendlessness and loneliness are here revealed! His poverty is great; but his solitude how horrible! (673). In this case, the narrator faces the challenge of giving the poor scribe a place to stay and survive or releasing Bartleby onto the streets where another employer may not be so kind. He also feels, however, that Bartleby s quirks are not at all easy to accommodate: In plain fact, he had now become a millstone to me, not only useless as a necklace, but afflictive to bear (676). The narrator, in this section, faces the need to do the socially acceptable thing. After all, a man who does not work should not be paid or allowed to remain employed. As literary critic Richard J. Zlogar explained in a commentary that analogized Melville s short story with certain parts of The Bible, The narrator s challenge, then, if he is to heal Bartleby s illness in its social aspect, is the same challenge that confronted Jesus Christ in his interaction with the leper, as discussed by Crossan: he must force his peers either to reject him from their community or to accept the leper within it as well (Zlogar 521). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the play Shakespeare uses the wittiness of the numerous characters taking part in the performance to demonstrate his fondness of using puns, sexual innuendos and creating double meanings. Puns, sexual innuendos and double meanings can be a technique of deception, the title Much Ado About Nothing being the very first example. This is due to the way Shakespeare plays with the word nothing in the title Much Ado About Nothing . In the late 16th century the word nothing would have been pronounced noting Thus, the play s title could read: Much Ado About Noting . Already Shakespeare hints that there might be a double meaning involving the word nothing . Without a doubt many of the players participate in the actions of observing, listening and writing, or noting. Also, in Shakespeare s period, a thing referred to a man s genitals, so therefore the word no thing may have been an Elizabethan euphemism for female genitalia. This might insinuate Shakespeare s love of using sexual innuendos to create double meanings, a means of deception and henceforth connecting to the title once again. The first way was it affirmed that the agency should consider wilderness values as an integral component of its multiple use mission, identifying lands with wilderness characteristics (LWC) in its mandatory section 201 inventories. Second, the Policy directed BLM to use its section 202 land use planning authority to consider designating appropriate LWC as Wild Lands, that is, lands that the agency would protect in amended RMPs by avoiding impairment to their wilderness characteristics. Third, for project level decisions in areas not yet inventoried under the new framework, the Policy instructed BLM to inventory apparent wilderness characteristics, and then discuss the proposed project s effects to them as well as measures to minimize those effects in a NEPA analysis.
