Economics of Rough Diamonds Essay
Countries in Africa rely heavily on their exportation of diamonds along with oil for income. The
revenue from the exportation of rough diamonds has either helped countries develop or lead to
catastrophic events. The economic comparison of countries that sell rough diamonds can vary greatly.
Some African countries strive for economic independence where as others have faced years of conflict
and poverty. The economic and political oversight of rough diamonds compared differently
throughout countries in Africa. Two countries that are plentiful in rough diamond resources are
Botswana and Angola. These two countries took two different economic paths. Botswana embraced a
democratic government and escaped civil war while Angola has suffered years ... Show more content

The leaders of Botswana wanted to improve the standard of living for their people and bring economic
independence to a newly democratic country. This agreement also helped protect Botswana from
rebels invading their country for diamonds. Angola s Government was overseen by Portugal up until
the mid 1970 s. Angola wanted to gain independence from Portugal and the Portuguese Government
was unwilling to do so. A liberation movement started causing three different unified forces to form.
Those forces were the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), National Front for
the Liberation of Angola (FNLA), and the National Union for the Total Independence (UNITA). These
forces banded together to remove the Portuguese government from power. By the late 1970 s, the
MPLA was forming a new government under their control. Even though, the MPLA gained control of
the government, UNITA and FNLA wanted to run the government also. The three once unified forces
were now fighting amongst each other for power and causing civil wars. Most of Angola s of rough
diamonds were in areas controlled by UNITA, which made it difficult for the MPLA to tap the rough
diamonds as an economic resource. UNITA on the other hand, saw this as a benefit to sell the illicit
diamonds on the black market. This non government organization took over the production and sales
of Angola s rough diamonds to fund their

Sometimes Good Turns Into Evil Research Paper
Sometimes Good Turns Into Evil I believe humans are all created equally as good, but some choose to
do evil things. Everyone makes mistakes, but that s not what i mean by evil. Evil, meaning harming
others or one s self. People do evil things as a result of many things. A haunting childhood, mental
problems, struggles, or even stress. It also depends on what morals people are raised with, or if they re
raised with any. Some kids are tortured by their parents as children, and turn out to be the same way or
end up torturing other people. Some even become murderers due to so much anger built up from their
childhood. Some people are born with mental problems and hurt people without knowing the intensity
of the damage they re doing. There have been many news reports of people doing bad things, like
robbing or murdering. Jeffrey Dahmer, for example, grew up with an alcoholic father and a mother
that was too busy worrying about her marriage falling apart. He was a gay man that ended up be an
alcoholic and murdering 17 of his sexual partners. He killed those men while he was intoxicated. He
fell into alcoholism when he was in highschool. He was very antisocial and he got picked on at school.

The news reporters asked that if anyone had boats to please go help pull families out of dangerous
areas and to take them to safety. The next day, many Texans that far and near, traveled to Houston and
helped so many families get to safe areas. They saved so many lives. If they were bad, evil people they
would ve stayed safe at home and said, Good luck! . Those Texans that went to go help are good
people. Everyone has a different story which makes every person who they are, but it doesn t excuse
their actions. So, once again, I believe everyone is born good because they are born with no
knowledge of anything bad, but life experiences mold you and who you

Evaluation Plan For Rapid Application Development
1.0 Development Approaches 1.1 Rapid Application Development Rapid application development is
an approach that is designed to develop software and systems in which changes are expected to be
made throughout the lifecycle of the approach. The RAD approach uses less time on planning and
emphasizes more resources on an interactive process in rapid prototyping. The RAD methodology
consists of four phases analysis, design, construction and implementation. The four phases are
processed through a chain of short bursts of interactive development cycles according to James Martin
RAD Methodology (Martin, 1991). Requirements planning phase Integrates all the aspects of system
analysis and system planning. Stakeholders within the project team establishes a mutual agreement on
the business objectives, project scope and requirements. Design phase In the design phase, the users
works closely with the system analyst to develop models and prototypes that define the systems
processes and functions. The development of the user design is an ongoing process that enables the
users to make changes to the model until the final product is functional and meets the requirements of
the project. Construction phase During the construction phase, it emphases more on the software
development, users contribute ideas to make improvements in the code of the program and further
changes may be implemented into the system. Implementation phase In final stage of the lifecycle,
data is converted and system

Overview of the Roaring Twenties
The Roaring Twenties were an age of dramatic political, social, and economic change. Women wanted
new and improved rights and the nation s wealth doubled between 1920 and 1929. Culture, values,
and the technology of America changed and it had only just begun. The Roaring Twenties were
considered as a celebration of youth . The many experiences that came from WWI had transitioned
into the growth of cities, new industries, and new morals. Women finally won the right to vote in
1920, and there were new roles for them in the workplace. Many of the social changes greatly affected
the new world. There was an increasing availability of birth control which eventually led to a decline
of the birth rate. Technology made everything easier ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Louis Armstrong was a stupendous trumpet player whom made many historical recordings in the
1920s. Also, during this age all the people wanted to do was dance, and New York was the most
popular place to be. There were many different new dances during the jazz age that were popular.
Some were the cake walk, the black bottom, the flea hop, and most popular, the jitter bug. Many jazz
bands played at dance halls in New York City and in the Aragon in Chicago. All of the radio stations
around America played jazz. During this time, 100 million phonograph records were sold in 1927
alone. Some of the older people disagreed with the jazz music s objective of vulgarity and immoral
situations (History1900s). The Jazz Age was also marked by many artists, authors, and scientists. One
famous artist was F. Scott Fitzgerald, who wrote the Great Gatsby in 1925. It took him five months to
write. This book explained and magnified the Roaring Twenties and the Jazz Age. Another wonderful
author was Theodore Dreiser. He wrote An American Society . This novel described the urban settings
and economic problems (Course Notes). One of the most famous authors of this time was Ernest
Hemingway, who wrote A Farewell to Arms . He depicted the lives of men and women s values during
and after WWI (Yoonhee). These were some of the most known authors of the Twenties. The Jazz Age

Black History Month In Hanna Guthrie s article, Black History Month, the UCI New University writer
discusses the racism in America. In order for racism to be abolished, Guthrie accentuates racism is
being spread through American Citizens self segregation. Though Hanna Guthrie article presents a
clear claim and provides a small amount of factual evidence to support in itself, ultimately Guthrie
article is unsuccessful because she fails to provide an adequate amount of logic based information to
support her primary claim, excessively dependent upon emotion driven attacks on those who disagree
with her, and frequently fails to present her augment in a approach that makes her creditable.
Guthrie primary claim for racism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her third and final claim as stated in the text reads, I think much of the problem today in the way of
racial relations, is with America s obsession with political correctness. (Guthrie 1). Once again her use
of strong emotional appeal to state her claim, conceals and validates her statement which is truly
nothing more than an opinion. She uses the fallacy of appeal to fear, or a Scare Tactic , by using words
such as obsession and radicalized movements. When Hanna constructed her paper she didn t use
factual evidence, which in turn completely undermines her primary claim. Hanna Guthrie does
anticipate counter augments when she says, As it is, you probably think I m racist for delivering into
this issue to begin with. (Guthrie 1). The author gives another fact when she says, It s a known fact
that things like affirmative action give preferential treatment to American minorities. ( Guthrie 1).
Hanna discredits this fact by her skewed opinion providing another false sub augment. Hannah
Guthrie was a second year English major student when this article was posted in 2010. Hannah being
a student questions her creditably because she isn t an expert and nor does she have a reputation for
being advocate on stopping racism. She was a writer for the UCI s New University , which is a school

Perseverance Book Report
This year, I came across a book titled Perseverance! The Story of Thomas Alva Edison (Murray,
1997). This book is a short timeline of Thomas Edison that highlights his many achievements along
with his many failures in his pursuit of accomplishment. I read this to my students in hopes they
would recognize the importance of having the courage to take a risk and the resilience to keep trying.
My students loved this book and we referred back to it throughout the year. In combination with a
growth mindset, I encouraged them to take risk, even though it might result in failure, and learn how
to persevere. I agree that there is a decline in the measure of grit in today s classroom, but also
recognize that a teacher can promote and encourage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I will admit this is something I have expressed my opinion about as well. My kids are very involved in
sports, especially competitive baseball. I have mixed feelings about this. When competing in a
tournament, there are no participation medals or such thing as third place. I have two boys, both with
different levels of self confidence, and see not only the difference in their attitude, but also in how I
respond to their disappointments. Is this fair? I am not sure it is, but in one child I am still developing
resilience and determination, and in the other I am further building on his desire to achieve. I have
raised them both with the same values and have supported their self worth the same, however, where
one is lacking in courage and resilience, the other has endurance and drive. My eldest boy is not
confident and is afraid of failure. I often add yet when encouraging him to try again. He is prone to
give up and assume there is no chance of success. My youngest son is determined, confident, and
driven. I find myself using the term next time quite often and not really focusing on the individual
aspect. This begs to question, how is grit cultivated? As discussed in our text, the affective domain
represents a time for emotional development and coping strategies (Kostelnik, Soderman, Whiren,
Rupiper, 2015). During this time, it is essential that teachers are able to recognize a child s emotions,
help to develop resilience, and promote self worth. Providing an environment where children feel safe

The Social Cognitive Theory Of Moral Disengagement
In 1986, Albert Bandura explored the concept of moral disengagement and its involvement in
individuals accepting and encouraging the act of violence and other immoral activities while justifying
their behavior. Moral disengagement, a term from social psychology, is the notion that focuses on the
process in which an individual convince themselves that their morals or ethical standards do not apply
to a certain situation. When this occurs, the individual has disabled the mechanism of self
condemnation and is separating themselves from their morals and acting in inhumane ways. Many
people disengage themselves from their morals in certain situations because they feel their actions are
justified, or they defuse the responsibility to others and believe that someone else will take charge.
The purpose of this paper is to explore the social cognitive theory of moral disengagement and how
well it does at explaining why humans detach themselves from their morality and justify their
misconduct, contrary to the rationalist, psychological and socio structural theories. Based on the book
Everybody Does It by Thomas Gabor (1994), the universality of moral disengagement is seen in all
kinds of people from all kinds of statuses and ways of life. Many psychological theories regarding
morality have concentrated on the formal character of moral reasoning to the neglect of moral
conduct. In the social cognitive theory of moral self, reasoning based on morals is linked to moral
actions via

Analysis Of Unam Sanctam By Pope Boniface Viii
Unam Sanctam This work is authored by Pope Boniface VIII from a rough timespan of 1294 1303.
Boniface s affirmation that there is only one holy and catholic and apostolic Church serves as the main
theme of this piece because it is directed toward the king of France. If one is to be called Christian and
truly be one of Christ s flock, one must subject oneself to the Roman pope because he is the legitimate
pope, being one of Peter s successors. Furthermore, there is no salvation outside of this Church. Pastor
Aeternus Pope Leo X writes this piece in order to reinforce what Pope Boniface VIII says in Unam
Sanctam. More specifically, Leo X is attempting to restate the power that the pope possesses. He
agrees with Boniface VIII s belief that it is necessary to submit oneself to the pope of Rome in order
to reach salvation. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Penance is already a common practice in working for the remission of sins at this time, but Sixtus IV
encourages Christians to think of their loved ones who have already passed away and are in the
process of being cleansed of their remaining sins so that they may reach heaven. He also proposes that
Christians give a fixed amount of money as indulgences over a span of ten years in order to help speed
up the cleansing process in purgatory that their friends and family are experiencing. Instructio
Summaria Albert of Mainz, who composes this procedure guide or around the time of Martin Luther,
takes indulgences a step further by systemizing it. For example, he divides indulgences into multiple
categories for a variety of the Church congregation so that they all may give, despite the differences in
their means. These categories include the plenary remission of sins, the confessional, participation in
blessings of the universal Church, and the plenary remission of sins for those who are currently in

How Did Andrew Carnegie Contribute To Civilization
Throughout history there have been countless individuals who have come along and helped shape
America into the manner it is today. Some of these individuals may have initiated noble contributions
that have caused them to receive wonderful praises even after they are long deceased. On the other
hand, there are other countless individuals whose contributions were not quite as great and caused
extensive permanent unscrupulous effects on society. One of the individuals whose impression might
have not been the greatest at one point, but who ultimately did contribute significantly to civilization
is Andrew Carnegie. Born in Dunfermline, Scotland young Andrew Carnegie and his family migrated
to the United States for better living opportunities.

there were these low flying planes with no lights on. They were flying so low that we could see the
marks on them. The marks weren t ours. By the time I d finished writing that down it was time to go.

opened the door to the house but everything was fine. Nothing out of place the only problem was that
there was no life at all. No TV going, no dishes chattering, nothing. I looked around for a note,
anything that could explain all of this. Journal Entry Two I haven t had a chance to write in these past
few days but I ll explain what happened. So after Homers house we decided we d go to Homer s place
and take a look. Same thing. Empty, dogs dead on their chains and still no notice on what had
happened. So we talked a bit and thought what if the people who went to the Wirrawee Show and got
invaded and captured so they couldn t get out of there? We all thought that was a fairly good
explanation. So then we talked on who s place to go to next. We decided we d walk to Kevin s. Then
we went on our way. We didn t talk most of the time there, only a few mumbles on how this was like

Gilgamesh As An Epic Hero
Gilgamesh is one of literatures first heroes, and there is evidence to suggest that he was a real
historical figure who lived between 2500 and 2700 BC. Gilgamesh is credited with building an
immense wall around the city of Uruk, and gradually over the centuries, a 3,000 line epic poem was
written around 1200 B.C. As the king of Uruk, Gilgamesh is two thirds god and one third man,
exceedingly strong, and a tyrant towards his people. Gilgamesh uses forced labor to accomplish the
building projects of his kingdom. As a result, his people pray to the gods for relief from Gilgamesh s
harshness. The gods provide Gilgamesh with a Wildman named Enkidu; matched in strength, they

Humpback Whales live from the equator to the subpolar latitude because that is where their food is.
The whales migrate as far as 16,000 miles which makes them one of the furthest migrating species in
the world. Humpback whales migrate on the surface of the water because they are mammals. The
humpback whales calving grounds are near offshore systems, islands, or continental shores.
Humpback whales have a diet that consists of many small fish. They eat small prey such as squid,
krill, herring, pollock, haddock, mackerel, capelin, salmon and various amounts of other fish.
Humpback whales have two of the methods of catching prey are bubble netting and filter eating.

Compare The Reaction Between Mentos And Diet Coke
Have you ever watched the reaction between Mentos and Diet Coke? Most people think it s a
chemical reaction, but they re wrong. It s actually a physical reaction, meaning that all the substances
to the reaction are still there, just rearranged. (Spurting Science) This physical reaction is caused by
nucleation. Carbon dioxide is in the Diet Coke, trying to escape. It s looking for any nucleation sites it
can attach to, like any bumps or crevices in the Mentos. When the Mentos are dropped into the Diet
Coke, it disrupts the polar attractions between the water molecules. The carbon dioxide will begin to
attach to the nucleation sites and form bubbles. The bubbles will quickly release from the Mentos and
rise to the top. Carbon dioxide will continue to attach to the nucleation sites and the process will
continuously repeat. Mentos are the best substance to use, because they are sprayed with 40
microscopic layers of sugar, which creates an abundance of nucleation sites. (Today I Found Out)

In one experiment, they found that Diet Coke at room temperature (70°F) and 5 Mentos created a
geyser that was roughly 9 ½ feet tall, while Diet Coke that was 110°F caused about a 16 feet tall
geyser. The second best method I found was attaching a nozzle to the mouth of the bottle. When this
was tested, it was found to go roughly 30 feet. An alternative for Mentos is rock salt. When tested, the
rock salts geyser went just about the same height as the Mentos geyser. One might think that using
more than 12 Mentos will make the geyser taller, but it actually doesn t increase or decrease the height
of the geyser. That s because after that, only around 11 12 of them actually stay in the bottle. The rest
of them shoot out. (Wayne

Theory of Operant Conditioning
Theory of Operant Conditioning
Instrumental conditioning, otherwise known as operant conditioning is a theory that B.F Skinner came
up with and is defined as a learning process by which the consequence of an operant response affects
the likelihood of the response recurring in the future. Basically, operant conditioning is a stimulus
response prototype that when reinforced, conditions individuals or organisms response to a desired
behavior (Huitt, W., Hummel, J., 1997) Our behaviors are shaped to be desirable or undesirable
through reinforcements, punishment and extermination. Overall, operant conditioning is seen to be
voluntary reaction that precedes the stimulus and the reinforcement. Classical conditioning is one of
the techniques used in behavioral training. The process of classical conditioning works with the
introduction of neutral stimuli before the original stimulus and the same reaction is elicited from the
organism even without the presence of the original stimulus. The Pavlov dog salivated with every
sight of food as the original stimulus for the salivation. When a neutral stimulus was introduced like a
bell that was rang each time before it was fed, the dog started salivating at the ringing of the bell even
before the food was availed.
Positive and negative reinforcement
Introduction of the negative reinforcement to construe behavior entails removal of an unfavorable
events or outcomes after the display of a behavior. A response is strengthened by the

team was the first and, so far, only team to have a perfect season capped off with winning the

losing franchise that could not win. That was until Don Shula, helped make the Dolphins one of the
best franchises in the national football league during his reign as head coach. The time period from
1970 to 1993 were the golden years of the organization s history; during this time the Miami Dolphins
won 13 AFC East Titles, 5 AFC Championships, 2 Super Bowls and in 1973 set the league record

Characteristics Of Canterbury Tales
In The Canterbury Tales, Geoffrey Chaucer paints the characters of the General Prologue in a
somewhat ironic light, offering cynicism and criticism as the poet through the naïve observations of
his own fictional personification. One character portrait that receives Chaucer s cynicism is that of the
monk, who, on the first read through, seems to be a jolly monk with a healthy habit of hunting, but on
closer inspection is not all that he seems. In this characterization, Chaucer describes the monk as the
sporting type, hunting in his free time and being somewhat lax in the strict customs of the church.
Although this profile is apt for a healthy man in the late middle ages, this characterization is not
appropriate for someone of the cloth, and Chaucer knows this. Monks, in popular culture and in real
life, are seen as devoted to the work of God and living a life of asceticism, living their lives away from
the normal social sphere and have little to no worldly possessions besides the humble clothes they
wear. However, Chaucer describes this monk as having a fine horse with a saddle lined with bells, a
pack of keen hunting greyhounds, and sleves purfiled at the hond/ With grys, and that the fynest of a
lond (General Prologue 193 194). Chaucer the pilgrim seems to observe the monk s attire as a mark of
a healthy man and listens when the monk makes his excuse that he should not be holed up in a
monastery and going mad over reading books. However, readers of the characterization

Financial Statement Presentation And Disclosure Of Revenue...
US GAAP After an entity determines the appropriate accounting for revenue generating activities, it
must determine the appropriate financial statement presentation and disclosure of the results.
Sometimes financial statement preparers do not give the same level of attention to presentation and
disclosure issues as they do to accounting for revenue generating activities. However, investors,
auditors, and regulatory bodies focus on financial statement presentation and disclosures to obtain
information about the types of revenue generating activities and the accounting for each activity.
While more guidance exists for financial statement presentation and disclosure issues facing public
entities than for private entities, many private entities have adopted the public company requirements
as a best practice. Presentation: The financial statement presentation of revenue generating activities is
not always straightforward. Some of the questions raised in evaluating how best to present the results
of revenue generating activities are as follows: Should the revenue be reported gross or net? Is the
entity principal or agent in the transaction? How should a vendor record consideration given to the
customer as an incentive in a revenue generating activity? (This question has been addressed for
product transactions in chapter 4.) Should the transaction be classified as a gain or as revenue? Are
any revenue amounts required to be presented separately? How are shipping and

The Importance Of Sexual Assault In Hollywood
LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION! For decades, Hollywood had been considered the place where dreams
come true. Women who wanted fame and money went into the entertainment industry to make their
dreams come true, getting money, and having fame e entertainment industry to make it happen, but at
what cost? Up and coming actresses did not expect their diginity and pride would be stripped from
them in just a matter of days, weeks, or months. Soon these actresses learned the horrifying truth
about Hollywood. Sexual assault ran Hollywood; that was the way to get the part and stay relevant.
Now they are starting to fight back. Recent revelations of pervasive sexual assault in Hollywood
illustrate that if actresses speak out about these incidents, change may result in women being treated
with dignity. Pervasive sexual assault in Hollywood is no secret. The casting couch has been used to
either make or break actresses careers since the 1920s. This unspoken taboo has been a part of the

My Day Of High School Essay
It had been a busy Friday. I came home from a long day of high school, and I was so excited because
for once I didn t have a basketball practice. On top of that, I had plans to go on a date, I was always so
busy that I never went on dates. This wasn t just an ordinary date though this just so happened to be
the most popular guy in school . I was very excited, but after school all that I wanted to do was go
home, get a snack, lay down on the couch, prop my feet up, and relax for a while. Maybe even take a
nap before I got ready for my date. I did just that. I got home, skipped the snack because mom was
making dinner, laid on the couch, and was slowly drifting into a nap when all of a sudden I heard a big
bang, crash, and then silence. I jumped up, and ran to the kitchen. There was my mother lying on the
floor, with hot grease burning her, and food all over the floor she had just cleaned earlier that day. I
helped her up, and took her to the bedroom where I proceeded to help her clean up, putt burn ointment
on, and told her, just relax mom, I ll take care of it. She just sat there so ashamed. This was a normal
occurrence; my mom falling. But this time there just seemed to be something a little bit different about
it. Usually mom won t relax, and she ll keep going. I examined my mother walking to the other room.
Her walk worse than usual. I had a lump in my throat as I asked, Could I examine your ankle, and leg?
She said, I guess. But I am fine. I rolled up her pant leg,

Persuasive Essay On Women In The Military
Did you know that women could be drafted to combat? I believe that women should all get the chance
to fight if they want to. There are tons of women that are in combat. They all join for different reasons,
some join just to see what it s like, and some join because they want to represent their country. During
the Civil War more than 400 women went into the army disguising themselves as men, just do that
they could fight in the war. If women can dress up as men and go to war and fight for our country then
i feel like we should give them the right to do it. In 2011 there was about 203,000 women in the
United States Military. Some people think that women aren t capable of doing it, or that she won t be
able to do it. Women going into the combat know that it is not an easy thing and are up to the
challenge. But to me I think that if she thinks she can do it and is up for the challenge that we should
believe that she can doing it to. In 1948 President Truman helped make a separate military service for
women. If a women can show that she is capable in a boot camp then why shouldn t she be able to
fight for our country.
For women to be in the Military it might be tougher meaning guys naturally have more muscle, but if
a women had their mindset on doing it, no one should tell her that is isn t allowed to because she isn t
a guy. Today women have so much more freedom than what they used to have. Many people think that
women won t be aggressive during the war and that s why they should not be able to be a part of
something as great as it. I think that women will be aggressive when it comes to the real fight because
they know that if they don t they could most likely be killed. Going into the military women know that
they have a chance of not coming out. Solveig Krey was the first woman commander of a Norwegian
submarine in 1995. For years women have been filling in combat roles. After being in the war and
killing another human being those images stay in your head, or well for Leigh Ann Hester, she still
thinks about it every single day. March of 2005 Hester s Kentucky National Guard Military Police
squad of eight men and two women, 11 people total, escorted the convoy on the southeast of Baghdad

Pepsico Case Study
Introduction The Uniform Commercial Code defines a contract as the total legal obligation which
results from the parties agreement as affected by the Uniform Commercial code or any other
applicable rules of law (Liuzzo, 2016, p.106). The purpose a contract is to create an oral or written
agreement between two parties. In the mid 1990 s PepsiCo. ran a promotional campaign Pepsi Stuff,
(nonfps, 2007). The campaign attempts to engage and reward the consumer who bought PepsiCo
products. Consumers would earn Pepsi points for any Pepsi products they bought. When a person
earns a certain quantities of points he or she receives certain prizes. One commercial advertises a
Harrier Jet in exchange for 7,000,0000 points (Haoues, 2015). In ... Show more content on

This includes such information as when, where, and why the offer would take place. However,
according to the UCC if one or more terms, are not in the contract the offer may not be invalid as long
as the offer is definite and certain (Liuzzo, 2016). Second an offer must be communicated to the
offeree. This is so the offeree is adequately informed prior to making their decision. The offeror
communicates the offer orally or written to the offeree (Liuzzo, 2016). Lastly, an offer has to be made
with a genuine intention that the offeror will be bound by it (Liuzzo, 2016). The offer cannot be made
in anger or jest or under severe emotional strain (Liuzzo, 2016). For example, if a boss jokes that he
would sell his house to the next person who bought him a coffee, and then his assistant bought him a
coffee, it is very unlikely that she would be able to sue in for his house in court. Thus, if the offer is
not made with any actual intent is not a valid offer (Liuzzo, 2016). Did PepsiCo make an offer?
In order to determine if Pepsi, as the supposed offeror made to be an offer all three components of an
offer must be analyzed. The first requirement an offer has to fulfill is that it is made on definite and
certain terms. The offer did specify the quantity requirement of points to receive a Harrier Jet in their
commercial (nonfps, 2007). In addition PepsiCo also offers the other products in the commercial that
the company did intend to exchange for Pepsi

Transformation of Rev. Arthur Dimmesdale in Hawthorne s...
The Scarlet Letter: The Transformation of Rev. Dimmesdale
Life is hard, but accepting that fact makes it easier. This common phrase clearly states a harsh fact that
Rev. Dimmesdale, a character in Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter, had to face. In this story of
deception and adultery set in the Puritan era, Hawthorne introduces Dimmesdale as a weak and
cowardly man who refuses to take responsibility for his actions. The Rev. Dimmesdale is a transitional
character in that he is, at the beginning of the novel, outwardly good but inwardly deceitful and by the
end of the novel he becomes both outwardly and inwardly truthful.
At the beginning of the novel, Dimmesdale has established quite a reputation for ... Show more

Abandoning Hester and her illegitimate daughter Pearl also augmented his problems. Forcing Hester
to go and find work around town, an obviously hard task for a single parent. He also abandons them
emotionally and physically. He is rarely there when Hester and Pearl needed him. Innocent little Pearl
wonders why Dimmesdale is so afraid of public displays of affection, yet when they are alone, he
takes notice of her and Hester. Talking to him, Pearl asks Wilt thou stand here with Mother and me,
tomorrow noontide? (149), a question whose answer is unclear for Pearl. In fact, the only way Hester
and Pearl receive any kind of support from Dimmesdale is when Hester threatens to tell the truth about
his sins.
The fact that Dimmesdale is a hypocrite causes him to experience increased torment due to his guilt.
Dimmesdale beautifully illustrates Hawthorne s point, because if he were not such a highly religious
man, then he would not care about his crime. However, he does care, and he inflicts torment on
himself, including long periods of fasting. In addition to hours of staring at himself in the mirror, he
could also be caught numerous times in his closet, whipping himself and burning the letter A on his
chest. Or he could be seen at the scaffold in the wee hours of the morning, practicing how he is going
to confess the next day. Deluding himself by pretending that his

Gothic Elements In Turn Of The Screw, And The Other
Gothic Literature is a form of literature that represents the supernatural or unknown elements found in
many literary pieces. Gothic Elements consist of dark atmospheres, the supernatural, uncanny figures,
damsel in distress, physiological breakdown, and many other elements. Elements of gothic literature
are usually not used in a literal sense; authors usually use metaphors to get the aspect of gothic
literature across to the audience. Elements of gothic literature are presented throughout the book Turn
of the Screw, by Henry James, and the film The Others , by Alejandro Amenábar. The Others was
actually based off of the book Turn of the Screw. Both have many similarities in their display of
elements of gothic literature. The book The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within both literary works the element of the damsel in distress is strongly presented to create a gothic
literature. In The Turn of the Screw, the governess plays the role by displaying her ongoing battle with
the ghosts over the safety of the children. Within her first couple of days at the house, she is already
seeing the ghosts of the old governess, Miss Jessel and the butler, Peter Quint. In the book, the
governess constantly tells about her concern that the children are in danger. In the book, James writes,
Dear little Miles, dear little Miles, if you knew how I want to help you! It s only that, it s nothing but
that, and I d rather die than give you a pain or do you a wrong ; this shows the governesses helpless
obsession with trying to keep the children safe (108). In this conversation with Miles, the governess is
trying to get him to tell her Quint blew out the candles but Miles replies that it was him (James 108).
This leads her to become distressed over her inability to protect the children from the ghosts. Thus,
she is playing the role of a damsel in distress, whom needs the assistance of someone else to help her

killers is Jeffrey Dahmer whose gruesome murders shocked the nation. Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer also
known as Milwaukee monster was a notorious American serial killer and sexual offender in the 1980s

The Importance of Religion in Aztec and Incas Cultures Essay
INTRODUCTION
Religion played a very important role in the Aztec and Inca culture. Religious rituals consisted of
human sacrifice and polytheism. Their deities were inspired by nature and the earth s physical
makeup. Both appear to be similar but peel back the onion and notable differences reveal themselves.
It is difficult for modern day society to understand how human sacrifice can exist in such advanced
civilizations.
THE INCAS (CHILDREN OF THE SUN)
The Incas Empire began around 1200 and lasted until the Spanish arrival in 1532. They were the
largest civilization in pre Columbia with a territory of 380,000 square miles and a population of about
7 million. Around 1400 the empire began its expansion stretching along the western coast of ... Show

Pachacuti Inca Yupanqui also invented the Capacocha, which was carried out in the following way:
The provinces of Collasuyo, Chinchaysuyo, Antisuyo, and Cuntisuyo would bring to this city, from
each town and lineage of people, one or two small boys or girls, of ten years old. They would also
bring clothes and livestock, as well as sheep [made] of gold, silver, and mullu. These were kept in
Cuzco for the reasons that will be told. After all this was assembled, the Inca would sit in the plaza of
Haucaypata, which is the large plaza of Cuzco. There the children and other sacrifices walked around
the statues of the Creator, Sun, Thunder, and Moon that were already in the plaza for this purpose.
They made two turns around them, and after finishing, the Inca summoned the provincial priests and
had the offerings divided into four parts for the four suyos: Collasuyo, Chinchaysuyo, Antisuyo, and
Cuntisuyo, which are the four regions into which this land is divided. And he would tell them, Each of
you take your share of these offerings and sacrifices, take it to your principal huaca, and sacrifice them
there.

III. Effectiveness/ Success of the Adaptation: It would be futile to compare this movie with the book,
as the movie ignores most of the plot in the book, only keeping the element of an amnesiac agent.
Although they share a name, The Bourne Identity by Robert Ludlum and its movie adaptation have
very little to nothing in common. (see Fig 1.0) Compared side by side, the movie will hardly cover the
first 3 chapters of the book. The book describes a man who is found shot in the ocean without his
memory. He is saved by a couple of men and taken to a doctor on land who helps him regain his
strength and begin to remember his past. The man travels to Zurich because of a negative found
implanted in his body that leads to a bank. There, he is ambushed by enemies he knows not, and with
the help of an unwilling woman named Marie St. Jacques he escapes. The man, whose name is
discovered to be Jason Bourne, and Marie fall in love and end up in Paris.

Impact of the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill on USA’s...
Depleting reserves, high oil prices and spectacular offshore discoveries concentrated a global attention
to deep water (National Geographic, p.3). Joel and Bourne (2010) claim the Gulf of Mexico now
accounts for 30 percent of U.S. production, with half of that coming from deep water (1,000 to 4,999
feet) . The U.S. government roughly calculated that the deep Gulf might contain 45 billion barrels of
oil (NG, p.44). Hence, this fact gave new reasons for oil companies to drill oil wells in that region.
The Minerals Management Service (MMS), the national agency that administrated offshore drilling,
used to claim that the possibilities of blowout were less than one percent, and that if one did happen, it
would not release much oil (National ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

nation from the Oval Office, he said: Already, this oil spill is the worst environmental disaster America
has ever faced. And unlike an earthquake or a hurricane, it is not a single event that does its damage in
a matter of minutes or days. The millions of gallons of oil that have spilled into the Gulf of Mexico are
more like an epidemic, one that we will be fighting for months and even years. Through January 25,
2011, there were collected 8,209 birds, 1,143 sea turtles, and 109 marine mammals affected by the
spill alive or dead, visibly oiled or not (Unified Area Command). It is quite apparent that the
Deepwater Horizon blowout is both terrible environmental and human catastrophe and it will probably
demand not months but decades of nationwide effort to address and recover (Deep water). The specific
goal of this paper is to provide a conceptual framework for identifying and understanding the
economic and environmental consequences of Deepwater Horizon oil spill and to determine
appropriate approaches to avoid future disasters. The Deepwater Horizon oil spill seriously
endangered a rich, productive marine microfauna and ecosystem. Since tens of millions of gallons of
oil gushed into the ocean directly affecting rich marine fauna. Moreover the disaster occurred at peak

The Glass Ceiling And Glass Escalator
Gender roles are socially constructed rules that dictate the types of acceptable behaviors based on sex.
In modern society, gender roles continue to hinder the progress of equality between a man and a
woman. A man and woman s acceptable role in a 1960s American society is clearly portrayed in the
episode of Smoke Gets in Your Eyes (2007), written by Matthew Wieners, of the series Mad Men. The
episode illustrates the concepts of the glass ceiling and glass escalator, and how these concepts affect
home and work life for two women: Peggy Olson, one who plays by her gender role, and Rachel
Menken, one who breaks free of her gender role. The concept of the glass ceiling is explained as the
struggle of a certain group in upward mobility. As portrayed in the episode, women struggle with the
glass ceiling in typically men s occupations. In the episode, Don Draper, the creative director of the
Sterling Cooper advertising agency, must come up with an advertising idea to effectively sell
cigarettes after a claim has been made stating cigarettes are harmful to the public (Wiener 2007). To
help him combat the issue, the company provides research on how people will enjoy smoking
cigarettes regardless of the health risks. Although the research may have been helpful in guiding his
ideas, which is proven later on in the episode, Don rejects the research simply because the researcher
is a woman. This is evident when he does not deny his colleague Salvatore Romano s sarcastic
statement: Oh

Bob Dylan And The Sixties
Bob Dylan played a vital role in the sixties counter culture. His lyrics fueled the rebellious youth in
America. Songs such as Blowin in the Wind and The Times are A Changin made him favorable to anti
war demonstrators and supporters of the Civil Rights movement. He was commonly referred to as the
spokesman for his generation. Dylan used lyrics to empower the youth to find their own form of
counter culture. The youth generation began to see the effects racism had on society and the violence
it has caused in America. They started anti war protests and opposed America s involvement in the
Vietnam War. They created their own form of counter culture in order to promote a peaceful change
within society. Bob Dylan s music appealed to the young generation because he openly expresses his
disapproval of the establishment in order to influenced his audience to move in a direction for change.
The songs Bob Dylan created during the sixties represented the concerns and ideas of the
counterculture that dealt with issues like the Vietnam War and the Civil Rights Movement.
The folk music revival of the early 1960s, blues, gospel, rock and Bob Dylan and country music
traditions as well as the counter culture movement played an important role in advocating change. One
of things Bob Dylan mentioned in his songs is the Civil Rights movement. The violence led by racial
tension caused Bob Dylan to write songs on it and promote peace and change. It made Dylan the
spiritual leader of the

School Day In High School
The school bell rings at 2:50 indicating the end of the school day. I race out of my AP Chemistry class
and head straight for my car parked across the street from the high school. Within four minutes, I m
pulling out of the parking lot and heading north on McHenry Avenue. As I drive as efficiently as
possible, I scan the street for any dangers. I approach the only stoplight on this relatively short journey
and I pray that it s green. Luckily, it almost always is. I continue up the street for a few more blocks
and pull into the parking lot of the public library at 2:58. I put the car in park, turn it off, open the
glove department and grab my earbuds, and take the water bottle from my backpack. I sprint up the
stairs, into the Youth Department, and straight to the carts of books to be put away. Within seconds,
my earbuds are in, the podcast app is open, and I m pulling a cart of books over to the Junior Non
Fiction section. Every Thursday, Friday, and sometimes Tuesday afternoon I work at my local public
library in the Youth Department after school. I have two primary jobs which include shelving returned
books and organizing books in alphabetical order. It is a pretty simple job, I know. What s even better
about it is that I get to use headphones while doing so. After getting bored listening to the same music

Essay On Lipid Based Carry System
As of late, a lot of intrigue has been focussed on lipid based carries systems. The most prevalent
approach is the fuse of the active poorly water dissolvable part into inert lipid vehicles, for example,
oils, surfactant dispersions, solid dispersions, solid lipid nanoparticles, emulsions, micro emulsions,
Nano emulsions, self emulsifying plans (SEF), micro/nanoemulsifying formulations, and liposomes.
The essential component of activity by which a lipid formulation prompts enhanced bioavailability is
typically avoidance of a slow dissolution process which constrains the bioavailability of hydrophobic
drugs from solid dose frames (Shweta Gupta, 2013). Ideally the plan enables the drug to stay in a
dissolved state all through its travel in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regardless of the extensive potential that these lipid excipients offer, not very many lipids based
Formulations have achieved the pharmaceutical commercial place. This might be because of the
inadequate data with respect to the generally complex physical science of lipids and worries about
figured drugs substance and physical stability. In addition to these concerns, the interaction of a lipid
based formulation with the GI condition and its effect on drug absorption is also important. For
example, edible lipids have been appeared to be extensively more productive enhancers of poorly
soluble drug ingestion, as compared to nondigestible lipids (e.g., liquid paraffin). Unsaturated fat
chain length of the lipid likewise impacts drug absorption. Both long and medium chain triglyceride
oils with various degrees of saturation have been utilized for the design of self emulsifying
formulations.
2. Surfactants: The self emulsifying properties require the incorporation of moderately a lot of
surfactant in the formulation notwithstanding the oily drug carrier vehicle. The surfactants may
improve the affinity between lipids and intestinal membrane or increase the permeability of the
intestinal membrane (Gershanik T, 2000). Surfactants increment the

  • 2. Economics of Rough Diamonds Essay Countries in Africa rely heavily on their exportation of diamonds along with oil for income. The revenue from the exportation of rough diamonds has either helped countries develop or lead to catastrophic events. The economic comparison of countries that sell rough diamonds can vary greatly. Some African countries strive for economic independence where as others have faced years of conflict and poverty. The economic and political oversight of rough diamonds compared differently throughout countries in Africa. Two countries that are plentiful in rough diamond resources are Botswana and Angola. These two countries took two different economic paths. Botswana embraced a democratic government and escaped civil war while Angola has suffered years ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The leaders of Botswana wanted to improve the standard of living for their people and bring economic independence to a newly democratic country. This agreement also helped protect Botswana from rebels invading their country for diamonds. Angola s Government was overseen by Portugal up until the mid 1970 s. Angola wanted to gain independence from Portugal and the Portuguese Government was unwilling to do so. A liberation movement started causing three different unified forces to form. Those forces were the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), National Front for the Liberation of Angola (FNLA), and the National Union for the Total Independence (UNITA). These forces banded together to remove the Portuguese government from power. By the late 1970 s, the MPLA was forming a new government under their control. Even though, the MPLA gained control of the government, UNITA and FNLA wanted to run the government also. The three once unified forces were now fighting amongst each other for power and causing civil wars. Most of Angola s of rough diamonds were in areas controlled by UNITA, which made it difficult for the MPLA to tap the rough diamonds as an economic resource. UNITA on the other hand, saw this as a benefit to sell the illicit diamonds on the black market. This non government organization took over the production and sales of Angola s rough diamonds to fund their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Sometimes Good Turns Into Evil Research Paper Sometimes Good Turns Into Evil I believe humans are all created equally as good, but some choose to do evil things. Everyone makes mistakes, but that s not what i mean by evil. Evil, meaning harming others or one s self. People do evil things as a result of many things. A haunting childhood, mental problems, struggles, or even stress. It also depends on what morals people are raised with, or if they re raised with any. Some kids are tortured by their parents as children, and turn out to be the same way or end up torturing other people. Some even become murderers due to so much anger built up from their childhood. Some people are born with mental problems and hurt people without knowing the intensity of the damage they re doing. There have been many news reports of people doing bad things, like robbing or murdering. Jeffrey Dahmer, for example, grew up with an alcoholic father and a mother that was too busy worrying about her marriage falling apart. He was a gay man that ended up be an alcoholic and murdering 17 of his sexual partners. He killed those men while he was intoxicated. He fell into alcoholism when he was in highschool. He was very antisocial and he got picked on at school. He started out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The news reporters asked that if anyone had boats to please go help pull families out of dangerous areas and to take them to safety. The next day, many Texans that far and near, traveled to Houston and helped so many families get to safe areas. They saved so many lives. If they were bad, evil people they would ve stayed safe at home and said, Good luck! . Those Texans that went to go help are good people. Everyone has a different story which makes every person who they are, but it doesn t excuse their actions. So, once again, I believe everyone is born good because they are born with no knowledge of anything bad, but life experiences mold you and who you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Evaluation Plan For Rapid Application Development 1.0 Development Approaches 1.1 Rapid Application Development Rapid application development is an approach that is designed to develop software and systems in which changes are expected to be made throughout the lifecycle of the approach. The RAD approach uses less time on planning and emphasizes more resources on an interactive process in rapid prototyping. The RAD methodology consists of four phases analysis, design, construction and implementation. The four phases are processed through a chain of short bursts of interactive development cycles according to James Martin RAD Methodology (Martin, 1991). Requirements planning phase Integrates all the aspects of system analysis and system planning. Stakeholders within the project team establishes a mutual agreement on the business objectives, project scope and requirements. Design phase In the design phase, the users works closely with the system analyst to develop models and prototypes that define the systems processes and functions. The development of the user design is an ongoing process that enables the users to make changes to the model until the final product is functional and meets the requirements of the project. Construction phase During the construction phase, it emphases more on the software development, users contribute ideas to make improvements in the code of the program and further changes may be implemented into the system. • 5. Overview of the Roaring Twenties The Roaring Twenties were an age of dramatic political, social, and economic change. Women wanted new and improved rights and the nation s wealth doubled between 1920 and 1929. Culture, values, and the technology of America changed and it had only just begun. The Roaring Twenties were considered as a celebration of youth . The many experiences that came from WWI had transitioned into the growth of cities, new industries, and new morals. Women finally won the right to vote in 1920, and there were new roles for them in the workplace. Many of the social changes greatly affected the new world. There was an increasing availability of birth control which eventually led to a decline of the birth rate. Technology made everything easier ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Louis Armstrong was a stupendous trumpet player whom made many historical recordings in the 1920s. Also, during this age all the people wanted to do was dance, and New York was the most popular place to be. There were many different new dances during the jazz age that were popular. Some were the cake walk, the black bottom, the flea hop, and most popular, the jitter bug. Many jazz bands played at dance halls in New York City and in the Aragon in Chicago. All of the radio stations around America played jazz. During this time, 100 million phonograph records were sold in 1927 alone. Some of the older people disagreed with the jazz music s objective of vulgarity and immoral situations (History1900s). The Jazz Age was also marked by many artists, authors, and scientists. One famous artist was F. Scott Fitzgerald, who wrote the Great Gatsby in 1925. It took him five months to write. This book explained and magnified the Roaring Twenties and the Jazz Age. Another wonderful author was Theodore Dreiser. He wrote An American Society . This novel described the urban settings and economic problems (Course Notes). One of the most famous authors of this time was Ernest Hemingway, who wrote A Farewell to Arms . He depicted the lives of men and women s values during and after WWI (Yoonhee). • 6. rhetocial analyisis essay Black History Month In Hanna Guthrie s article, Black History Month, the UCI New University writer discusses the racism in America. In order for racism to be abolished, Guthrie accentuates racism is being spread through American Citizens self segregation. Though Hanna Guthrie article presents a clear claim and provides a small amount of factual evidence to support in itself, ultimately Guthrie article is unsuccessful because she fails to provide an adequate amount of logic based information to support her primary claim, excessively dependent upon emotion driven attacks on those who disagree with her, and frequently fails to present her augment in a approach that makes her creditable. Guthrie primary claim for racism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Her third and final claim as stated in the text reads, I think much of the problem today in the way of racial relations, is with America s obsession with political correctness. (Guthrie 1). Once again her use of strong emotional appeal to state her claim, conceals and validates her statement which is truly nothing more than an opinion. She uses the fallacy of appeal to fear, or a Scare Tactic , by using words such as obsession and radicalized movements. When Hanna constructed her paper she didn t use factual evidence, which in turn completely undermines her primary claim. Hanna Guthrie does anticipate counter augments when she says, As it is, you probably think I m racist for delivering into this issue to begin with. (Guthrie 1). The author gives another fact when she says, It s a known fact that things like affirmative action give preferential treatment to American minorities. ( Guthrie 1). Hanna discredits this fact by her skewed opinion providing another false sub augment. Hannah Guthrie was a second year English major student when this article was posted in 2010. Hannah being a student questions her creditably because she isn t an expert and nor does she have a reputation for being advocate on stopping racism. She was a writer for the UCI s New University , which is a school news paper often stretching to seek attention from the media and other forms of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Perseverance Book Report This year, I came across a book titled Perseverance! The Story of Thomas Alva Edison (Murray, 1997). This book is a short timeline of Thomas Edison that highlights his many achievements along with his many failures in his pursuit of accomplishment. I read this to my students in hopes they would recognize the importance of having the courage to take a risk and the resilience to keep trying. My students loved this book and we referred back to it throughout the year. In combination with a growth mindset, I encouraged them to take risk, even though it might result in failure, and learn how to persevere. I agree that there is a decline in the measure of grit in today s classroom, but also recognize that a teacher can promote and encourage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I will admit this is something I have expressed my opinion about as well. My kids are very involved in sports, especially competitive baseball. I have mixed feelings about this. When competing in a tournament, there are no participation medals or such thing as third place. I have two boys, both with different levels of self confidence, and see not only the difference in their attitude, but also in how I respond to their disappointments. Is this fair? I am not sure it is, but in one child I am still developing resilience and determination, and in the other I am further building on his desire to achieve. I have raised them both with the same values and have supported their self worth the same, however, where one is lacking in courage and resilience, the other has endurance and drive. My eldest boy is not confident and is afraid of failure. I often add yet when encouraging him to try again. He is prone to give up and assume there is no chance of success. My youngest son is determined, confident, and driven. I find myself using the term next time quite often and not really focusing on the individual aspect. This begs to question, how is grit cultivated? As discussed in our text, the affective domain represents a time for emotional development and coping strategies (Kostelnik, Soderman, Whiren, Rupiper, 2015). During this time, it is essential that teachers are able to recognize a child s emotions, help to develop resilience, and promote self worth. Providing an environment where children feel safe to take a risk in the classroom and feel confident to try again in the face of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Social Cognitive Theory Of Moral Disengagement In 1986, Albert Bandura explored the concept of moral disengagement and its involvement in individuals accepting and encouraging the act of violence and other immoral activities while justifying their behavior. Moral disengagement, a term from social psychology, is the notion that focuses on the process in which an individual convince themselves that their morals or ethical standards do not apply to a certain situation. When this occurs, the individual has disabled the mechanism of self condemnation and is separating themselves from their morals and acting in inhumane ways. Many people disengage themselves from their morals in certain situations because they feel their actions are justified, or they defuse the responsibility to others and believe that someone else will take charge. The purpose of this paper is to explore the social cognitive theory of moral disengagement and how well it does at explaining why humans detach themselves from their morality and justify their misconduct, contrary to the rationalist, psychological and socio structural theories. Based on the book Everybody Does It by Thomas Gabor (1994), the universality of moral disengagement is seen in all kinds of people from all kinds of statuses and ways of life. Many psychological theories regarding morality have concentrated on the formal character of moral reasoning to the neglect of moral conduct. In the social cognitive theory of moral self, reasoning based on morals is linked to moral actions via ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Analysis Of Unam Sanctam By Pope Boniface Viii Unam Sanctam This work is authored by Pope Boniface VIII from a rough timespan of 1294 1303. Boniface s affirmation that there is only one holy and catholic and apostolic Church serves as the main theme of this piece because it is directed toward the king of France. If one is to be called Christian and truly be one of Christ s flock, one must subject oneself to the Roman pope because he is the legitimate pope, being one of Peter s successors. Furthermore, there is no salvation outside of this Church. Pastor Aeternus Pope Leo X writes this piece in order to reinforce what Pope Boniface VIII says in Unam Sanctam. Some of these individuals may have initiated noble contributions that have caused them to receive wonderful praises even after they are long deceased. One of the individuals whose impression might have not been the greatest at one point, but who ultimately did contribute significantly to civilization is Andrew Carnegie. It s actually a physical reaction, meaning that all the substances to the reaction are still there, just rearranged. (Spurting Science) This physical reaction is caused by nucleation. Carbon dioxide is in the Diet Coke, trying to escape. It s looking for any nucleation sites it can attach to, like any bumps or crevices in the Mentos. When the Mentos are dropped into the Diet Coke, it disrupts the polar attractions between the water molecules. The carbon dioxide will begin to attach to the nucleation sites and form bubbles. The bubbles will quickly release from the Mentos and rise to the top. Carbon dioxide will continue to attach to the nucleation sites and the process will continuously repeat. Mentos are the best substance to use, because they are sprayed with 40 microscopic layers of sugar, which creates an abundance of nucleation sites. (Today I Found Out) (Eepy Bird) ... • 16. Theory of Operant Conditioning Theory of Operant Conditioning Instrumental conditioning, otherwise known as operant conditioning is a theory that B.F Skinner came up with and is defined as a learning process by which the consequence of an operant response affects the likelihood of the response recurring in the future. Basically, operant conditioning is a stimulus response prototype that when reinforced, conditions individuals or organisms response to a desired behavior (Huitt, W., Hummel, J., 1997) Our behaviors are shaped to be desirable or undesirable through reinforcements, punishment and extermination. Overall, operant conditioning is seen to be voluntary reaction that precedes the stimulus and the reinforcement. Classical conditioning is one of the techniques used in behavioral training. The process of classical conditioning works with the introduction of neutral stimuli before the original stimulus and the same reaction is elicited from the organism even without the presence of the original stimulus. The Pavlov dog salivated with every sight of food as the original stimulus for the salivation. When a neutral stimulus was introduced like a bell that was rang each time before it was fed, the dog started salivating at the ringing of the bell even before the food was availed. • 18. Characteristics Of Canterbury Tales In The Canterbury Tales, Geoffrey Chaucer paints the characters of the General Prologue in a somewhat ironic light, offering cynicism and criticism as the poet through the naïve observations of his own fictional personification. One character portrait that receives Chaucer s cynicism is that of the monk, who, on the first read through, seems to be a jolly monk with a healthy habit of hunting, but on closer inspection is not all that he seems. In this characterization, Chaucer describes the monk as the sporting type, hunting in his free time and being somewhat lax in the strict customs of the church. Although this profile is apt for a healthy man in the late middle ages, this characterization is not appropriate for someone of the cloth, and Chaucer knows this. Monks, in popular culture and in real life, are seen as devoted to the work of God and living a life of asceticism, living their lives away from the normal social sphere and have little to no worldly possessions besides the humble clothes they wear. However, Chaucer describes this monk as having a fine horse with a saddle lined with bells, a pack of keen hunting greyhounds, and sleves purfiled at the hond/ With grys, and that the fynest of a lond (General Prologue 193 194). US GAAP After an entity determines the appropriate accounting for revenue generating activities, it must determine the appropriate financial statement presentation and disclosure of the results. Sometimes financial statement preparers do not give the same level of attention to presentation and disclosure issues as they do to accounting for revenue generating activities. However, investors, auditors, and regulatory bodies focus on financial statement presentation and disclosures to obtain information about the types of revenue generating activities and the accounting for each activity. While more guidance exists for financial statement presentation and disclosure issues facing public entities than for private entities, many private entities have adopted the public company requirements as a best practice. Presentation: The financial statement presentation of revenue generating activities is not always straightforward. Some of the questions raised in evaluating how best to present the results of revenue generating activities are as follows: Should the revenue be reported gross or net? Is the entity principal or agent in the transaction? How should a vendor record consideration given to the customer as an incentive in a revenue generating activity? Up and coming actresses did not expect their diginity and pride would be stripped from them in just a matter of days, weeks, or months. Soon these actresses learned the horrifying truth about Hollywood. Sexual assault ran Hollywood; that was the way to get the part and stay relevant. Now they are starting to fight back. Recent revelations of pervasive sexual assault in Hollywood illustrate that if actresses speak out about these incidents, change may result in women being treated with dignity. Pervasive sexual assault in Hollywood is no secret. The casting couch has been used to either make or break actresses careers since the 1920s. This unspoken taboo has been a part of the stucture of what dreams are made of. Long before Weinstein there was Louis B. Mayer, who co founded Metro Goldwyn Mayer studios in 1924. • 24. Persuasive Essay On Women In The Military Did you know that women could be drafted to combat? I believe that women should all get the chance to fight if they want to. There are tons of women that are in combat. They all join for different reasons, some join just to see what it s like, and some join because they want to represent their country. During the Civil War more than 400 women went into the army disguising themselves as men, just do that they could fight in the war. If women can dress up as men and go to war and fight for our country then i feel like we should give them the right to do it. In 2011 there was about 203,000 women in the United States Military. Some people think that women aren t capable of doing it, or that she won t be able to do it. Women going into the combat know that it is not an easy thing and are up to the challenge. But to me I think that if she thinks she can do it and is up for the challenge that we should believe that she can doing it to. In 1948 President Truman helped make a separate military service for women. If a women can show that she is capable in a boot camp then why shouldn t she be able to fight for our country. For women to be in the Military it might be tougher meaning guys naturally have more muscle, but if a women had their mindset on doing it, no one should tell her that is isn t allowed to because she isn t a guy. Today women have so much more freedom than what they used to have. Many people think that women won t be aggressive during the war and that s why they should not be able to be a part of something as great as it. I think that women will be aggressive when it comes to the real fight because they know that if they don t they could most likely be killed. Going into the military women know that they have a chance of not coming out. Solveig Krey was the first woman commander of a Norwegian submarine in 1995. For years women have been filling in combat roles. After being in the war and killing another human being those images stay in your head, or well for Leigh Ann Hester, she still thinks about it every single day. However, according to the UCC if one or more terms, are not in the contract the offer may not be invalid as long as the offer is definite and certain (Liuzzo, 2016). Second an offer must be communicated to the offeree. This is so the offeree is adequately informed prior to making their decision. The offeror communicates the offer orally or written to the offeree (Liuzzo, 2016). Lastly, an offer has to be made with a genuine intention that the offeror will be bound by it (Liuzzo, 2016). The offer cannot be made in anger or jest or under severe emotional strain (Liuzzo, 2016). For example, if a boss jokes that he would sell his house to the next person who bought him a coffee, and then his assistant bought him a coffee, it is very unlikely that she would be able to sue in for his house in court. Thus, if the offer is not made with any actual intent is not a valid offer (Liuzzo, 2016). Did PepsiCo make an offer? In order to determine if Pepsi, as the supposed offeror made to be an offer all three components of an offer must be analyzed. The first requirement an offer has to fulfill is that it is made on definite and certain terms. This common phrase clearly states a harsh fact that Rev. Dimmesdale, a character in Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter, had to face. In this story of deception and adultery set in the Puritan era, Hawthorne introduces Dimmesdale as a weak and cowardly man who refuses to take responsibility for his actions. The Rev. There the children and other sacrifices walked around the statues of the Creator, Sun, Thunder, and Moon that were already in the plaza for this purpose. And he would tell them, Each of you take your share of these offerings and sacrifices, take it to your principal huaca, and sacrifice them there. The huaca was the sacred shrine or god and they were all about the Inca Empire. The children were chosen by the emperor about one year prior to the Capacocha ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Bourne Identity co stars Chris Cooper, Clive Owen, Brian Cox, and Julia Stiles. ~ Karl Williams, Rovi III. Effectiveness/ Success of the Adaptation: It would be futile to compare this movie with the book, as the movie ignores most of the plot in the book, only keeping the element of an amnesiac agent. Although they share a name, The Bourne Identity by Robert Ludlum and its movie adaptation have very little to nothing in common. (see Fig 1.0) Compared side by side, the movie will hardly cover the first 3 chapters of the book. The book describes a man who is found shot in the ocean without his memory. He is saved by a couple of men and taken to a doctor on land who helps him regain his strength and begin to remember his past. The man travels to Zurich because of a negative found implanted in his body that leads to a bank. There, he is ambushed by enemies he knows not, and with the help of an unwilling woman named Marie St. Jacques he escapes. • 32. Impact of the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill on USA’s... Depleting reserves, high oil prices and spectacular offshore discoveries concentrated a global attention to deep water (National Geographic, p.3). Joel and Bourne (2010) claim the Gulf of Mexico now accounts for 30 percent of U.S. production, with half of that coming from deep water (1,000 to 4,999 feet) . The U.S. government roughly calculated that the deep Gulf might contain 45 billion barrels of oil (NG, p.44). Hence, this fact gave new reasons for oil companies to drill oil wells in that region. The Minerals Management Service (MMS), the national agency that administrated offshore drilling, used to claim that the possibilities of blowout were less than one percent, and that if one did happen, it would not release much oil (National ... After two months Macondo well began gushing crude oil, President Barack Obama addressed to the nation from the Oval Office, he said: Already, this oil spill is the worst environmental disaster America has ever faced. And unlike an earthquake or a hurricane, it is not a single event that does its damage in a matter of minutes or days. The millions of gallons of oil that have spilled into the Gulf of Mexico are more like an epidemic, one that we will be fighting for months and even years. Through January 25, 2011, there were collected 8,209 birds, 1,143 sea turtles, and 109 marine mammals affected by the spill alive or dead, visibly oiled or not (Unified Area Command). It is quite apparent that the Deepwater Horizon blowout is both terrible environmental and human catastrophe and it will probably demand not months but decades of nationwide effort to address and recover (Deep water). The specific goal of this paper is to provide a conceptual framework for identifying and understanding the economic and environmental consequences of Deepwater Horizon oil spill and to determine appropriate approaches to avoid future disasters. The Deepwater Horizon oil spill seriously endangered a rich, productive marine microfauna and ecosystem. Since tens of millions of gallons of oil gushed into the ocean directly affecting rich marine fauna. Moreover the disaster occurred at peak spawning and nesting season for many species of fish, birds, turtles and marine ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. The Glass Ceiling And Glass Escalator Gender roles are socially constructed rules that dictate the types of acceptable behaviors based on sex. In modern society, gender roles continue to hinder the progress of equality between a man and a woman. A man and woman s acceptable role in a 1960s American society is clearly portrayed in the episode of Smoke Gets in Your Eyes (2007), written by Matthew Wieners, of the series Mad Men. The episode illustrates the concepts of the glass ceiling and glass escalator, and how these concepts affect home and work life for two women: Peggy Olson, one who plays by her gender role, and Rachel Menken, one who breaks free of her gender role. The concept of the glass ceiling is explained as the struggle of a certain group in upward mobility. As portrayed in the episode, women struggle with the glass ceiling in typically men s occupations. In the episode, Don Draper, the creative director of the Sterling Cooper advertising agency, must come up with an advertising idea to effectively sell cigarettes after a claim has been made stating cigarettes are harmful to the public (Wiener 2007). To help him combat the issue, the company provides research on how people will enjoy smoking cigarettes regardless of the health risks. Although the research may have been helpful in guiding his ideas, which is proven later on in the episode, Don rejects the research simply because the researcher is a woman. This is evident when he does not deny his colleague Salvatore Romano s sarcastic statement: Oh ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. School Day In High School The school bell rings at 2:50 indicating the end of the school day. I race out of my AP Chemistry class and head straight for my car parked across the street from the high school. Within four minutes, I m pulling out of the parking lot and heading north on McHenry Avenue. As I drive as efficiently as possible, I scan the street for any dangers. I approach the only stoplight on this relatively short journey and I pray that it s green. Luckily, it almost always is. I continue up the street for a few more blocks and pull into the parking lot of the public library at 2:58. I put the car in park, turn it off, open the glove department and grab my earbuds, and take the water bottle from my backpack. I sprint up the stairs, into the Youth Department, and straight to the carts of books to be put away. Within seconds, my earbuds are in, the podcast app is open, and I m pulling a cart of books over to the Junior Non Fiction section. Every Thursday, Friday, and sometimes Tuesday afternoon I work at my local public library in the Youth Department after school. I have two primary jobs which include shelving returned books and organizing books in alphabetical order. It is a pretty simple job, I know. What s even better about it is that I get to use headphones while doing so. After getting bored listening to the same music playlist for a couple of hours, I realized that I could listen to anything I want. One day, I decided to open the podcast app on my iPhone. • 38. Essay On Lipid Based Carry System As of late, a lot of intrigue has been focussed on lipid based carries systems. The most prevalent approach is the fuse of the active poorly water dissolvable part into inert lipid vehicles, for example, oils, surfactant dispersions, solid dispersions, solid lipid nanoparticles, emulsions, micro emulsions, Nano emulsions, self emulsifying plans (SEF), micro/nanoemulsifying formulations, and liposomes. The essential component of activity by which a lipid formulation prompts enhanced bioavailability is typically avoidance of a slow dissolution process which constrains the bioavailability of hydrophobic drugs from solid dose frames (Shweta Gupta, 2013). Ideally the plan enables the drug to stay in a dissolved state all through its travel in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Regardless of the extensive potential that these lipid excipients offer, not very many lipids based Formulations have achieved the pharmaceutical commercial place. This might be because of the inadequate data with respect to the generally complex physical science of lipids and worries about figured drugs substance and physical stability. In addition to these concerns, the interaction of a lipid based formulation with the GI condition and its effect on drug absorption is also important. For example, edible lipids have been appeared to be extensively more productive enhancers of poorly soluble drug ingestion, as compared to nondigestible lipids (e.g., liquid paraffin). Unsaturated fat chain length of the lipid likewise impacts drug absorption. Both long and medium chain triglyceride oils with various degrees of saturation have been utilized for the design of self emulsifying formulations. 2. Surfactants: The self emulsifying properties require the incorporation of moderately a lot of surfactant in the formulation notwithstanding the oily drug carrier vehicle. The surfactants may improve the affinity between lipids and intestinal membrane or increase the permeability of the intestinal membrane (Gershanik T, 2000). Surfactants increment the ...
