Ship Of Theseus Research Paper
In ancient Greece, the people of Athens dedicated a memorial in honor of King Theseus by preserving
his naval ship in the port. This ship of Theseus stayed in port for hundreds of years. As time past,
some of the wooden planks of Theseus ship began to rot away. To keep the ship preserved and
presentable, the rotting planks were replaced with new planks made of the same material. This is
where the key question lies; if you replace one of the planks, is it still the same ship of Theseus? This
question addresses one of the most interesting problems in all of philosophy, namely the problem of
identity. How do things stay the same even after they change? At what point does an object become
different? When we talk about a certain object and say that it changed, what exactly is it ? Some
maintain that changing one plank changes the ship and makes it no longer the ship of Theseus. Others
claim that as long as there is at least one plank from the original, it is still the original. There are also

After some time, all the old planks are assembled into a ship. This new construction is made to look
exactly like the old ship with the planks in their original position. Which ship has the right to call itself
the ship of Theseus, the ship with the replaced planks or the ship constructed out of the old planks?
This argument refers to the history of the ship. The ship of Theseus is what it is because of its history.
Only the original Theseus sailed the sea and partook in the Ancient Greek battles so only the original
should be called the Theseus. What this argument brings to light is the idea that once something or
someone is duplicated there are two options. One being that there is now an existential twin and the
other that the original now ceases to be. To add on to this third argument one could also mention the
soul of the

Differences Between Physical And Human Geography Essay
Exam# 1 Section# 2 Discussion/Essay Questions Question #1: Explain the differences between
physical geography, human (or cultural) geography, and regional geography. Give examples of each.
A: The major difference between physical and human geography, is that physical geography exists
without the presence of human beings, as where human geography is a byproduct of human activity on
the earth. Regional geography is a study of both physical and human geography with in a specific
spatial unit. Mountains, and oceans or seas are great examples of physical geography. They have been
created by Mother Nature alone, and help to shape the areas in which humans have come to inhabit.
On the other hand human geography pertains to how as a species we have altered the landscape, and
developed specific identities through languages, religions, and cultural norms. The Panama Canal,
countless dams worldwide, and china s island building in the South China Sea. Showcase the ability of
humans to alter geography across the globe. For the most part similar languages and cultures dominate
different areas. East Asia mandarin and Buddhism, the Middle East Arabic and Islam, North America
English and Christianity just to name a few. Regional geography is to look at both human and physical
geography to divide areas in to specific realms, regions, and transition zones. Each with their own
dominating characteristics. Question #2: Explain the theory of continental drift and plate tectonics and

Cyberbullying Is A Problem That Affects More Than One...
With the new twitter update which allows that creation of polls that users can vote in, countless
accounts have been created to poke fun at someone s personality or looks, this is what is called
cyberbullying, and it happens each and everyday. Cyberbullying is a problem that affects more than
one fourth of adolescents in middle school and high school. With the growth of technology it has
become more imperative to implement programs in schools to help solve this problem. Today,
teenagers rely more on the internet, and other technologies to keep in touch with their friends, and
social lives. They are on all sorts of social media platforms such as facebook, twitter, instagram,
snapchat and so much more. They also use different forms of technology such as cellphones, and
online chatrooms to communicate with friends and social circles. Many adolescents use this growing
technology as a bridge between their everyday reality, and virtual reality, and sometimes, use this
technology to intimidate and harass other students which is a form of cyberbullying. Jemica Carter
and Wilson Feleta, authors of Cyberbullying a 21st century health care phenomenon, define
cyberbullying as, covert, psychological bullying [conveyed] through electronic mediums

A Case Study With Sony On Penetration Pricing As Global Pricing Strategy Meaning of Penetration
Pricing This is a marketing strategy used by firms to attract customers to a new product or service.
Penetration pricing is the practice of offering a low price for a new product or service during its initial
offering in order to attract customers away from competitors. The reasoning behind this marketing
strategy is that customers will buy and become aware of the new product due to its lower price in the
marketplace relative to rivals. It can often increase both market share and sales volume. Additionally,
the high sales volume can also lead to lower production costs and higher inventory turnover, both of
which are positive for any firm ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Effects of Different Temperatures on the Reaction Rates of Enzymes B. Introduction /
Background Enzymes are proteins that are in every living organism. Cells need them to survive and to
function. Enzymes are catalysts that help to speed up the rate of reactions that otherwise would take
longer periods of time to occur. However they do not change during the reaction. A chain of amino
acids forms them. There are over a hundred different enzymes in the human body. Each enzyme is
responsible for a certain reaction that occurs in the cell. For instance, the enzymes in our stomach cut
food into small enough particles so it can be converted into energy, which our bodies will later use.
Without enzymes human wouldn t be able to breathe, eat, drink or digest food. There are 3 main types
of enzymes: metabolic enzymes, food enzymes and digestive enzymes. Metabolic enzymes exist
throughout your whole body from your organs to your blood to inside your bones. This enzyme is
essential for the growth of new cells and maintaining new tissue. Food enzymes exist in raw food.
However if the raw food is cooked the high temperature that is involved in cooking the food will
destroy the enzyme. The organs in our bodies make digestive enzymes. This enzyme plays a major
role in digestion. When we eat raw food we don t need additional enzymes because the raw food
already contains them. If we eat a salad than there are enzymes in the salad that help break

Riba Plan Of Work
Strategic Definition is a stage in the RIBA Plan of Work 2013. Precisely this is Stage 0 of the plan
where there are many tasks. In the first task bar called the core objectives task, the architect is required
to identify the client s Business Case and Strategic Brief as well as other core project requirements.
The Business Case shows the reason for beginning a project or task. It is a mix of objective and
subjective considerations. The Strategic Brief is the brief prepared to enable the strategic definition of
a project. The strategic considerations may include considering different sites or deciding whether we
to extend, refurbish or build new projects. The second task in the Strategic Definition stage is
Procurement. At this stage, the architect needs to have initial considerations for building the project
team. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Catastrophic Event
Introduction Catastrophic event may be either natural or man made. An event that is termed to be
catastrophic is an event that can greatly have a negative effect on an organization. It may lead to great
loss in an organization upon it s occurrence whether by great loss financially or loss of significant data
relating to the running of the organization. It may also lead to loss of life of employees or injure them
greatly (Cornell Foutch, 2002). In order to avoid such effects which will greatly affect the running of
the organization and leave a great impact on its activities which may take a long time to recover, it is

Cherrys plan with the federal emergency plan Dr. Cherrys emergency plan in comparison to the
federal emergency plan will be considered as a success as it in a great way goes along with it. Like the
federal emergency plan his plan aims at training personnel with first aid skills. This will help at
minimizing loss of lives in times of an emergency also in life protecting and recovery following the
disaster. He also in his program trains students on public health and medical needs following a major
disaster like in the federal emergency plan, he also trains students to help casualties trapped in
collapsed structure in times of an emergency. Though his plan is somehow similar to the federal
emergency plan, his program lacks essential skills for unlike in the federal plan his program does not
train students on skills such as firefighting and potential discharge of hazardous materials following a
disaster. It also unlike in the federal emergency plan does not consider the identifying and securing for

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), or Obamacare, was authoritatively marked
into law on March 23, 2010. It was created to make healthcare more lower priced and effectively
available to a more extensive scope of Americans. Under the law, individuals in the United States who
do not meet all requirements for an exemption are required to acquire a minimum amount of health
care coverage. Supporters of Obamacare argue that it has had some benefits since its passage,
including reducing the uninsured rate, enabling a huge number of Americans to acquire health
insurance through the new health insurance exchanges or Medicaid expansion. In the article Trump

WWF And The Living Planet Report
Reflection WWF We were welcomed by Natasha Zwaal, whose main task is to ensure that the WWF
stays with the science . She briefly described the modern looking building, which was produced CO2
neutral, and it has some interesting perks like providing space for animals inside. She pointed out that
there are two main departments at WWF: those who get the money (the large marketing team), and
those who spend it (the nature conservation team). Then, we were seated in a room where she briefly
presented the history (after being founded in 1961, the goals of the WWF have expanded throughout
the years from protecting natural areas to protecting, managing and restoring nature, as well as
enhancing biodiversity and limiting footprints) and the structure of the WWF. What really surprised
me was that every WWF in a country is to a large extent independent, and picks its own problems to
work on. The sources of funding also differ per country, and these sources sometimes also determine
what the WWF in that country focuses on. Then, she explained the Living Planet Report (2014), one
of WWFs scientific contributions, and its findings in great detail, and dived into the problem with
some of its approaches, such as the use of ecological footprints as indicators. The openness in general,
and the critique on the WWF s approaches she showed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Web GPS Track can become expensive depending on the number of units needed for a given agency.
The cost includes a onetime purchase fee of the World Tracker unit which is $350 each. An additional
on time subscription fee of 99.89 per unit is needed to activate the account. Additional fees include a
monthly service fee of 19.98 per unit, a onetime SIM card fee ranging between $25 and $ 50, and any
SMS service fee charged by a local service provider. While the cost of GPS tracking can be expensive,
it can prove beneficial when proper records are needed, and it may save an agency from facing a large

potential barrier faced by human service agencies is Intellectual Property Theft. Intellectual property is
anything from names, images, symbols, and designs used in commerce, intellectual property is
considered a valuable asset and most organizations have protected their intellectual property from

Holbein s Portrait Of George Gisze Analysis
Based on this week s assigned chapter, West, Introduction, answer these questions.
1. What does West say about the space in Holbein s portrait of George Gisze? What is in the space and
what is the contradiction she sees between the things and the figure?
Holbein s portrait is one that contains many contradictions. The composition is somewhat confusing,
for it is a meticulously detailed painting; yet, the painting is riddled with perspectival impossibilities.
The space surrounding Gisze is cluttered with objects that look entirely out of place in the portrait.
These objects, so carefully rendered, are at odds with each other, and the surrounding area. The sitter
is depicted in a most uncomfortable manner; each part of his body is oddly positioned. ... Show more

Most often, the function of the portrait determined the status of portraits. For instance, when a portrait
was a likeness of an important historical figure, it was thought to be of higher status. If a portrait was
of a funerary nature, its status would probably be considered to be lower because its subject could be
considered to be of less importance. During the Renaissance and the years that followed, the portrait s
status became less highly regarded as this led to a democratization of portraits. Before this, it was far
less common for those with low income or rank to be able to sit for a portrait. As artists began to focus
on simply being portraitists, it allowed for more people to be able to have their portraits

Analysis Of Dances With Wolves And Unforgiven
According to the film critic, Phillip French, The Western has always been about America rewriting and
reinterpreting her own past, if this is indeed the case, then the two most popular Westerns of the early
1990s reveal that many Americans had rejected the traditional interpretation of the Old West. The
critically and commercially successful, Dances with Wolves and Unforgiven, repudiated the patriotic
frontier myth that had characterised the Western when it was the preeminent genre in American
cinema. Informed by new Western historiography, itself an expression of political concerns that had
been moving into the American mainstream since the 1960s, the movies display a complex and
nuanced understanding of the frontier experience. Dances with Wolves rejected the traditional
narrative of the inherent superiority of the Anglo American hero conquering both Native Americans
and the wilderness, and also focused on the environmental destruction that accompanied the ideology
of Manifest Destiny. Unforgiven would similarly reject the frontier myth, replacing the democratic,
civilised frontier town, with a brutal regime in which white men s property rights prevail over any
sense of justice. The film is noted for its self reflexive nature, with a writer documenting and
embellishing the tales of the Old West before the viewer s eyes. This self reflexion indicates that
Americans were re evaluating the myths of the frontier, and seeing them for what they were, creations

Strengths Of Meta-Analysis Case Studies

videos or books, observations and individual or group interviews (Gill et al., 2008). Based on the

empirical investigation of a particular contemporary phenomenon within its real life context using

Based on Petitti (2000), meta analysis is classified as exploratory analysis. Meta analysis is the
application of statistical techniques to integrate and summarize the results of several studies into a
single estimate (Wolf, 1986). Wolf (1986) stated that meta analysis can be well applied in numerous
areas within all the social, behavioral and biomedical sciences. One of the strengths of meta analysis is
that it can include a large sample size. Thus, more variable and outcomes can be included (Walker
et.al, 2008). For example, meta analysis can be effectively used in the analysis that could not be done
in individual trials, such as regression analyses (Walker et.al, 2008). However, by including a large
sample size, it would lead to subgroups of patients being compared (Walker et.al, 2008). In this case,
Walker (2008) suggested that the best way to minimize this problem is to test the outcome before the
data are collected and analyzed (Walker et.al, 2008). Besides that, the lack of information will affect
the type of analyses and conclusions that can be reached in a meta analysis (Walker et.al, 2008). This
is because most reports of individual studies include only the summary results, such as standard
deviations, proportions, mean and odds

The Music Media Industry
Music Media In the music media industry, I do not believe in having illegal music. There is no point in
having illegal music. I do not support having illegal music because of the money, illegal music can
cause trouble, and there should just be no more illegal music.
Money can be a problem when it comes to buying music. Illegal music is free, but legal music cost
money and whoever owns that server gets all the money. (Judith Baughman). We are also wasting
money like the author, Judith Baughman said, Having to get legal music can sometimes add up to a lot
of your money and you are just wasting your hard earned cash on music that should be for free. We
should not have to have to pay for music; we should get music for free. There is really no point in
having legal music, but we should not be getting illegal music either. You should get legal music
because that way you are not considered a thief. (Judith Baughman). So it s better to buy legal music
instead of stealing it. Even though legal music cost money, it is better than getting into trouble. (Judith
Baughman). This is why we should get music for free because there is no point in having legal and
illegal music. Many people buy and steal music, but there should be no need for that because they
should not have to buy music; music should just be for free. There is no point in having illegal music
if everyone downloads them anyways. (What is Illegal Music Downloading)? The only reason they

Written Assignment Unit 4
Introduction
The word renaissance can be defined as renewal or rebirth and the Renaissance period was significant
because it was an important transitional time, from approximately
1300 to 1700, in European history, which marked the end of the medieval world and the
birth of the modern world. This essay will delve into the relationship between the arts and the growing
body of scientific knowledge during the Renaissance and also examine three different works of art
from the three major stylistic periods: Renaissance, Baroque and
Rococo.
Arts and the Growing Body of Scientific Knowledge During the Renaissance
I feel that, during this time, there was a growing fascination and intrigue on scientific knowledge,
specifically, human anatomical studies. Growing knowledge of human anatomy enabled artists to
produce more realistic looking works of art. It is even said that Leonardo da
Vinci, often considered to be the model Renaissance Man , believed that the moral and ethical
meanings of his narrative paintings would emerge only through the accurate representation of human
gesture and expression ( The Enduring Relationship of , 2003). As the body was only viewed as a
transient vessel for the soul, during the Middle Ages, there was little interest in human anatomy,
however, as Renaissance artists increasingly desired to create more authentic and lifelike works of art
to more effectively convey their messages, there were, consequently, more scientific

Comparing Mcfague s Judaism And Economic Reform
The distribution of wealth has been a major problem in modern society. The economic system is
currently dividing the nation into a society of either being classified as rich or poor. The current
system is causing individuals to consume more than what the Earth s surface can reproduce.
Furthermore, the allocation of goods and services are not fairly distributed worldwide. People are
supposed to live as one and share goods and services equitably, but because of capitalism, many
individuals live a life of self interest and greed. Since resources are scarce, we live in an all for one
society. This essay will critique Norman Solomon s argument in Judaism and Economic Reform to

McFague s argues that people should stop limiting their ability to concern their needs as humans being
and consider the environment and other living organisms. McFague argues that people must move
toward thinking about sustaining the world, not just the people. McFague poses the concept of the
Earth being a household that everyone in society livings a part of this one house that lives together.
Therefore, she goes to mention that those of the Christian Faith embrace all creations and not just
human beings who make up less than one percent of it (120). McFague asserts that society needs to
pay more attention to what is happening with the environment because under this neoclassical model
people are consuming too many resources. The Neoclassical model is a system that sees human beings
on the planet as a corporation or syndicate, a collection of individuals drawn together to benefit its
members by optimal use of resources (124). McFague argues that this model exploits the earth s
resources and causes greed in people, which has led to their being a need for economic reform.
Therefore, Mcfague poses the Ecological model as the solution, which sees the planet as a community
that survives and prospers only through the interdependence of all its parts, human and nonhuman
(McFague 127). The ecological model is about sustaining the environment and limiting the greed of
individuals by transforming society from thinking about oneself to more of a community mindset.
Therefore, McFague mentions people must thinking about the world as a community in order for the
world to flourish, which means that the earth s resources must be distributed justly among all its
inhabitants, human and each other, on a sustainable basis (120). Mcfague is arguing that the ecological
model makes individuals more conscious, which can help direct our faith. For instance, we are God s
children; however, we must learn to operate from his

The Fallout After World War 1 And The Great Depression
The fallout after the World War 1 and the Great Depression saw the emergence of a literary
preoccupation with the idea of fragmentation, and a cubist application to literature as a means of
representing the 20th Century modern reality. Authors, poets, artists etc saw; cubism, expressionism
and fragmentation as the best vehicles to depict the incomplete, broken lives of their subjects. With
both modern and post modern literature making a conscious break away from previous realism, 20thC
literature employed and explored subjectivism, whereby the author turned from the typical external
reality to the inner consciousness of a character or subject, to reflect a motif/ theme as a whole.
Modernist literature did so by exploring fragmentation in terms of narrative, how a character was
constructed, the formation of passages and chapters, and how events unfolded. This typically
surmounted to the creation of a sense of a chaotic universe, metaphysically unfounded, laced with the
subconscious fears of characters and notions of alienation.
This was successfully created by reconsidering and challenging the established conventions of
perspective . Illustrated through relativity , artists combined visual consideration and memory into a
concentrated still which they felt best documented the age in an abstract form, but which was wholly
all the more realistic. This form was not only retained for art but stretched into prominent literature;

Main idea: A barrel of wine broke and spilled all over the street in the suburb of Saint Antonio staining
the bricks.
What literary devices are being used in this quote? The literary devices that are being used in the quote
is foreshadowing and symbolism. Symbolism is used in this quote by using the object of red wine. The
red wine that stains the street s ground symbolizes blood. Charles Dickens then uses foreshadowing in
this quote by indicating that Saint Antoine, in Paris will be stained with blood all over the street.
How is the author using the device? The author is using the devices of foreshadowing and symbolism
to send a hidden message to the reader that a major event will occur in the suburb of Saint Antonio
that will affect many people. The author is telling the reader that the great amount of bloodshed that
will occur will play a big apart and effect the characters in the book greatly, because not long after this
quote is used many characters were connected together and introduced through the object of wine.

Benefits Of Leather Jackets
Introduction
Is there anything more synonymous with the biker lifestyle than a leather jacket? From James Dean to
Armin Tamzarian, history s most beloved bikers all used leather jackets as a means of rebelling
against the suits and shattering conventions. Today, however, bikers are shying away from leather
jackets, largely due to the expense. Novice bikers are instead purchasing cheaper textile and mesh
models, which while indeed effective, don t offer the same protection or style as a leather model.
While the vast majority of worthwhile leather motorcycle jackets will set you back at least a couple of
hundred dollars, there are a number of quality models which can be purchased for less. In this article, I

Cafe Racer Leather Jacket so successful.
Pros
Handmade
Many motorcycle brands rely on a collection of machines to mass produce their products, which has
been known to drastically decrease the effectiveness and longevity of the completed garments. The
ABz Leathers Vintage Cafe Racer Leather Jacket is handmade, so you can be sure careful attention
was paid to every stitch in order to make it as durable and as reliable as possible.
Multiple Pockets
You can have the most sturdy, padding packed motorcycle jacket in the world, but it doesn t mean a
thing if the jacket doesn t come with pockets in which you can store essential items such as your
wallet and smartphone. Motorcycles don t offer a whole lot of storage room, so if you don t have
pockets on your jacket, you can t really bring anything with you. The Vintage Cafe Racer Leather
Jacket boasts a total of four deep front pockets, giving you plenty of room to store the items you need

A Byzantine Fault
Introduction
Faults occur in every system which may halt the systems functionality. A fault that presents different
symptoms to different observers is called a Byzantine fault. These Byzantine faults form the reason for
the loss of a system service and are called Byzantine failures. A Byzantine failure may occur due to
arbitrary problems like corruption in their local state, production of incorrect outputs or by processing
requests incorrectly instead of the general situations like crashing or stopping. The ability of a system
to defend itself from Byzantine failures is called Byzantine fault tolerance which is a sub field of fault
tolerance.
A reliable computer system is a system that overcomes failures, one such failure is the Byzantine
Generals problem. This problem is rare and generally overlooked by the people who are unfamiliar
with the problem. It brings down the entire network if not tackled properly. This problem is most
common in distributed dependable network. This paper aims at explaining the Byzantine Generals
problem and providing a possible solution to that problem.
My motivation to write this topic comes from the wide usage of distributed systems in various fields
like particle physics, bioinformatics, weather, climate, visualization and graphics, economics and
finance etc., and the need to protect such systems. Failure of distributed systems leads to huge loss of
resources, time and money. Thus protecting from these kinds of failure is a challenging task

Effect of Using a Hand-Held Cellular Phone and Listening...
The effect of using a hand held cellular phone and listening to radio broadcast on driving performance
will be explored. There are many careless drivers on the road who are mostly talking on the hand held
cell phone. It is predicted that using a hand held phone would take the driver s attention away and
would cause driving slowly. Since many accident reports show that cell phone use while driving is
dangerous it is questionable if listening to radio will also be detrimental on driving task. Many people
turn on the radio for entertainment or to fight from drowsiness especially if there is no other passenger
in the vehicle. It is predicted that having a conversation with using a hand held cell phone while
driving will decrease the driving performance, while listening to a radio broadcast will not have
significant effect. Important implications for the results for driving performance and for future
research will be discussed. The Effect of Using a Cell Phone and Listening to Radio on Driving
Performance Many researchers agree that numerous drivers engage in dual task that includes eating,
talking or listening to radio, which take away their visual attention (Ünal, Platteel, Steg Epstude,
2013). It is suggested that talking and driving at the same time increase the risk of accident and that it
produces the same consequence of driving while intoxicated (Atchley, Dressel, Jones, Burson

The Solar Of Solar Module
Purpose
In the present era where energy demands growing rapidly the solar module is one of the solutions and
a good one. More energy from the sunlight strikes the Earth in one hour (4.3 × 1020 J) than all the
energy consumed on the planet in a year (4.1 × 1020 J) therefore solar energy has a bright future
ahead. The first solar cell was invented in 1953 and had efficacy rate of 4 present while toady s solar
cell is 40 present efficient. SolarCity is using the one of the efficient solar panels which yields 30 to 40
percent more energy than similar size solar module available in the market.
Components
There are many components those makes a solar panel. These components can be defined as external
and internal components. A basic unit of the solar module is a solar cell and many solar cells create
one solar module and more than one solar module creates an array.
External Components
External components are components which are used in the solar module s external body as mention
in the figure below in layers.
Frame
Framing play a very important role in a solar module because it will hold the panels together in
addition, it protect the solar module from many environmental factors for instance wind and rain.
Aluminum is commonly used in the solar module framing because of its unique properties.

The Importance Of Revenge In Hamlet
Revenge his foul and most unnatural murder (Act I Scene V, Ghost). The Ghost is a messenger from
Hell that persuades a vulnerable Hamlet into doing evil acts against his family and those that appear
closest to him. In behavior alone, Hamlet s dramatic change in personality shows how the Ghost has
influenced him in an evil way. There are multiple examples throughout this entire play that displays a
dark cloud that follows Hamlet around. Unfortunately, these bad things just continue to happen to
Hamlet and around him. The Ghost poses as a helpful character, in the beginning, showing Hamlet
what really happened, but he actually just wanted to take revenge on the person who killed him.
The Ghost enters into the story in the figure of Hamlet s recently deceased father to Marcellus and
Bernardo, the two guards in the tower. They immediately report this sighting to Horatio to witness the
sighting of the Ghost. Horatio then is shocked because he sees the Ghost is wearing armor similar to
that of King Hamlet s, who had recently passed away. This makes Prince Hamlet aware of the sighting
as well. Hamlet then consequently goes to see the Ghost and follows him out past the castle walls. He
then proceeds to tell him that his uncle, who had just married Hamlet s mother, killed his father in his
sleep with poison and that he must seek revenge. Right from the beginning, the Ghost is implementing
horrible ideas into Hamlet s mind who is hurt by the passing of his father. He

What is Personality?
Personality is a series of characteristic thoughts, feelings and behaviour that differentiates one human
being to another and that continues over time and situation (Phares, 1991). According to Ryckman,
Personality is the sum of biologically based and learnt behaviour which comprises and forms the
person s particular responses to environmental stimuli (Ryckman, 1982).

A personality trait may vary, as in be more or less visible base on the situation, this can also differ on
the basis of time (Phares, 1991). The changes that reflect particular event and feelings during the
lifespan of an individual only affect the surface and not the core character of the individual.
Intellectual changes in a personality are usually consequences of major life altering changes (Costa
McCrae, 1992).
It is necessary that individuals accept and adapt to the certain circumstances that they face in lift and
at the same time they need to retain the inner core trait of personality that defines them. Certain traits
or adaptation are general and easily accepted. Also they follow a certain pattern, for example,
Sensation seeking this is a characteristic that diminishes over time from teens to middle agers in
mostly all cultures (Costa McCrae, 1980). Neuroticism and frankness to experience diminishes over a
certain peiod of time and on the other hand self esteem, conscientiousness and agreeableness increase
in an individual (Neyer, 2000). The expressions of any personality of an individual largely depends on
age and maturity. These activity levels in individuals may thus enhance the likeliness for a sport at a
young age and gardening at an older age (Costa McCrae, 1980).

Juxtaposition Of Innocence And Corruption In Daisy Miller...
Structuralism is the idea that language exists in patterns, therefore all literary works begin to develop
underlying elements common to all human experiences (Purdue). Structuralist criticism analyzes these
patterns, elements, and themes that interconnect the works in order to better understand them (Rump).
In the story arcs of both Henry James Daisy Miller and Stephanie Meyer s Twilight, structuralist
themes include the juxtaposition of innocence and corruption, and ignobility and refinement. The
juxtaposition of innocence and corruption in humans is a major structuralist theme found in a wide
variety of literary works. This trope is manifested through a young, naïve character, often depicted as a
virginal girl dressed in white, and an older, more mature, brooding male who ... Show more content on

Henry James novel Daisy Miller is a prime example; Daisy is the perfect embodiment of innocence.
the young Miller is said to take on three different kinds of innocence. The first is ignorance, in which
Daisy is uneducated on the customs and mannerisms of Europe and speaks unabashedly about her
personal life, what Winterbourne perceives to be the most unbecoming of her. The second is naïveté,
in which Daisy is unable to discern others motives, ultimately leading to her demise. The third is a
blamelessness, where she has done nothing immoral out of malice but simply from her upbringing in
the spirited nature of the American culture rather than the reserved and refined European culture.
Daisy Miller s corruption originates from two men in her life; Her major love interest, Mr. Giovanelli,
an Italian man with an unknown background, is the indirect cause of her corruption and the direct
cause of her ultimate downfall. Miller and Giovanelli s intimate friendship, with no customary
declaration of courtship, alarms many of her American expatriates. As the pair s friendship escalates
into something more, gossip and judgement further ostracizes Daisy from the American community.

limitation of this stage is object permanence. At preoperational stage, children begin to think or
imagine something in their mind, they will gain two cognitive accomplishments, mental
representations and intuitive thought. Mental representations mean children can mentally represent
something in the past or future but not now. Intuitive thought means children are self centered, and
they trust others have the same idea as their own. There are three limitations at this stage, first is
egocentrism. It means children cannot think something from other s perspective. Second is lack of
conservation, it means if you change the its shape or appearance of something, its weight still the
same, but children cannot understand that. Last one is lack of hierarchical classification, it is very hard
for children to distinguish similar objects. Little People Musical Preschool has more than 35 sounds of

The Apology of Socrates is actually not an apology at all. It is a statement made by Socrates in
defense of his actions in court. Socrates was accused of not believing in the gods of Athens, and
teaching the children of Athens to believe in other gods. These gods were suggested to be made up by
Socrates himself ( Apology , 121).
Socrates put himself in the jury s shoes by questioning his own behavior before the trial. He
understood that they may be dumbfounded how his reputation could spiral down so quickly. Socrates
still insisted; even after empathizing with the jury, that he had gained this reputation by falling victim
of wisdom. Plato continued on with his remarks calling this wisdom human wisdom . Soon Socrates

Pros And Cons Of Vice President Joe Biden
This week, speculation about a potential presidential run from Vice President Joe Biden has increased.
Maureen Dowd, a columnist for the New York Times wrote that the death of his son, Beau, has caused
him to reconsider running in the 2016 election. She reports that he has been meeting with friends and
family about becoming a candidate. Dowd never named any sources and the credibility of the report is
not good. But it has ignited a debate this week over whether the 72 year old Vice President, will run,

Biden is well liked by nearly everyone in Washington and his supportive role in the Obama
administration has helped his stature. He s seen as an authentic and funny guy. While Biden makes a
great Onion headline and uncle, his vulnerabilities make him not a great candidate for president. Biden
s previous presidential campaigns have been terribly executed. In 1988, Biden plagiarized speeches
from a British politician, destroying any chance of a successful campaign. Biden ran for president in
2008 as well, earning less than one percent of the vote in Iowa. Biden s foreign policy and national
security record is slim at best. Obama s first secretary of defense wrote that he found him nearly
always wrong on issues of foreign policy and national security. Despite recent drop in polling
numbers, over 75 percent of Democrats support Hillary. She s garnered more endorsements at this
stage of the election than any modern era. She s raised 68 million dollars. Biden doesn t have a
significant advantage over Hillary in the general election. If voters are tired of Obama and Democrats,
they re tired of Biden as well. His age is also a hinderance as well. While Americans aren t concerned
about a 72 year old executing the duties of vice president, most don t know what a vice president does.
Biden would be 74 on the date of his potential inauguration. Reagan was nearly 70. If for some reason
Clinton bombs out of the race, Biden is the candidate with the best odds. But until then, the odds of
him winning the Democratic nomination aren t good enough for him to

industries and it seems to be able to operate on lean overhead when compared to its competitors. The
store is located in a downtown area where it will be available and easy accessible to the clientele it is
trying to serve. At the present time, it is the only store of its kind within a 10 to 15 mile radius.
Johnson s is able to offer shoes made of genuine leather and not pleather, vinyl, or some of the other
synthetic products giving their shoes superlative advantages over other shoes.
Threats
The use of substitutes in the footwear industry is very high because of the large number of companies
and similar products in the industry. There is a great deal of rivalry and the customers bargaining
power is high. If the store experiences a large demand for unusual small or large sizes not kept in
stock and cannot fill these request within a reasonable time frame customers could stop patronizing
the store. If competitors with similar business models locate in the same area this could pose problems
for the shoe store. If Johnson s misjudges the path of current fashion and over stocks shelves with the
wrong products, this could cause problems in moving merchandise.
Contingency Plans
A business contingency plan is a back up plan which will be instituted in case the original plan should
not be successful. The purpose of the plan is to make it possible

Summary Of Three Girls By Oates
It was like a child s game in which you stare at foliage, grass, clouds in the sky, and suddenly you see
a face or a figure, and after that recognition you can t not see the hidden shape, its staring you in the
face. (Oates, 95)
Oates Three Girls tells the story of two girl poets in the Strand Bookstore in Manhattan on a snowy
day in March of 1956. They wander through the aisles of poetry, with commentary about various poets
and collections of poetries and how they reflected on the girl poets . We were girl poets passionately
enamored of T.S. Eliot but scornful of Robert Frost, whom we d been made to memorize in high
school Slyly we communicated in code phrases from Eliot in the presence of obtuse others in our
dining hall and residence. (Oates, 92) Suddenly she is pulled from her thoughts, as her friend touches
her wrist and guides her further into the store to stumble upon Marilyn Monroe. From here, the girl
poets follow her discretely, with a commentary of how Monroe s discretion was so much different
form how she was normally seen. She was, at that moment, not a garnish blond showgirl , but rather
this woman was an individual wholly absorbed in selecting, leafing through, pausing to read books
(Oates, 93) They continue to follow her until she reaches the storefront, where they volunteer to pay
for her books to keep the secret of her being here. From there they return her books to her outside,
with her gifting them the Selected Poems of Marianne Moore before departing. The story closes with
the two girl poets sharing their first kiss.
The chosen quote, ( It was like a child s game in which you stare at foliage, grass, clouds in the sky,
and suddenly you see a face or a figure, and after that recognition you can t not see the hidden shape,
its staring you in the face. (Oates, 95)) plays not only to the main plot of the story (the girl poets
discovering Marilyn Monroe in the Strand Bookstore), but also to the subplot (the girl poets sharing
their first kiss and becoming lovers) as well. It applies to the main plot very clearly through two sides:
that though by this point in the story only the girl poets have discovered it is Monroe, the realization
that others could at moment s

The Use Of Body Cameras In The Shooting Of Michael Brown
In the stir of the police shooting of Michael Brown in August 2014, as well as the protests in
Ferguson, Missouri and around the country, there has been a serious issue with the use of body
cameras to promote the interactions with the police and the civilians. Body worn cameras have
received positive appraisal from the NAACP Legal Defense Education Fund,3 and the American Civil
Liberties Union (ACLU). The latter has stated that their widespread use has the potential to be a win
win, helping protect the public against police misconduct, and at the same time helping protect police
against false accusations of abuse. In 2013, the Police Executive Research Forum sent surveys to 500
of the 12,501 police departments in the U.S and of the 254 who completed the survey only 63 of the
departments reported using body worn cameras. However, now law enforcement agencies in the
country are now rapidly adopting the cameras.
In December 2014, President Obama proposed the Body Cameras Partnership Program, which aims to
invest $75 million through a 50% investment matching arrangement with states to cover video storage
and equipment expenses, with the goal of underwriting the costs of 50,000 of body cameras being
worn. The program is a three year $263 million enterprise to help strengthen the community policing
and the funding plan is part of President Obama s proposed budget.

Muslims and The Holy Qur an
There is a reasonable number of researches and studies conducted by Muslims and Non Muslims on
English translations of the Holy Qur an. However, little attention has been given to the translation of
Qur anic euphemistic expressions into their equivalents. For the previous studies didn t discuss
euphemisms in the Holy Qur an as culture bound units and therefore suggested traditional solutions
for their translations such as paraphrase and transliteration. The proposed study differs from the
previous ones because it looks into theories of translation including functional and formal
equivalence. Moreover, the study will examine different exegeses of the Noble Qur an to obtain a
closer view of the intended meaning. In addition, the study sheds light on the rhetorical style of the
Holy Quran in addressing people that the euphemism reflects. Thereupon, the importance of this study
stems from the well planned strategy that it proposes to translate the Qur anic euphemistic expressions
into English. This strategy includes the translation of each euphemistic expression into its cultural and
lexical equivalent, if any, in the target language. If there is no equivalence, the study attempts to use
other alternative methods, namely: gloss translation, footnotes, transliteration, omission, compensation
and paraphrase. Outline of the study
The proposed study will be divided into five chapters. Chapter one will set out the background of the
study and present various definitions of

Essay on The Poetry of Robert Hayden
Although the majority of Robert Hayden s writings address racial themes and depicts events in African
American history, he also wrote short poems that capture his own personal experiences. Hayden has
an enormous amount of great poems and short stories, but as I read through many of them, I was
touched by two specific poems that I felt I could personally relate to. I chose these poems because I
am able to put myself into the story line and understand what the writer is talking about. I believe that
a good writer is able to reach any reader regardless of race, gender, or age. Hayden possessed an
incredible skill with his language and the structures of his poems that could almost pull the reader
right out of their chair and place them in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first thing I had learned about Hayden s style before I began reading his actual poems was that he
frequently used first person point of view. Many critics mimic the same thoughts when they discuss
how a large majority of his poems were based on his personal experience. He uses his recollection of
himself in relation to something else: other characters, different experiences, and even through works
of art. He tends to reflect back on numerous times of his childhood. They are clearly personal and
some almost seem biographical as he remembers his past and his family as he grew older. These
writing are not usually happy for him or easy to put on paper for everyone to see. They seem to bring
up pain, guilt, sorrow and a sense of suffering. His writings reflect what he feels on the inside: lost
identity, loneliness, and his longing need for attention.
In Those Winter Sundays Hayden tells a story about a son looking back at his father during his
childhood. The poem describes a father that through words doesn t necessarily show love or affection
towards his family. It captures the need of love from a distant father to his child. Through reading this
poem, it is discovered that the love the son was looking for was always present it was just
communicated more through the fathers efforts and less through the type of tenderness that is expected
from a child. He explains in small details his fathers suffering. The man

  • 2. Ship Of Theseus Research Paper In ancient Greece, the people of Athens dedicated a memorial in honor of King Theseus by preserving his naval ship in the port. This ship of Theseus stayed in port for hundreds of years. As time past, some of the wooden planks of Theseus ship began to rot away. To keep the ship preserved and presentable, the rotting planks were replaced with new planks made of the same material. This is where the key question lies; if you replace one of the planks, is it still the same ship of Theseus? This question addresses one of the most interesting problems in all of philosophy, namely the problem of identity. How do things stay the same even after they change? At what point does an object become different? When we talk about a certain object and say that it changed, what exactly is it ? Some maintain that changing one plank changes the ship and makes it no longer the ship of Theseus. Others claim that as long as there is at least one plank from the original, it is still the original. There are also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After some time, all the old planks are assembled into a ship. This new construction is made to look exactly like the old ship with the planks in their original position. Which ship has the right to call itself the ship of Theseus, the ship with the replaced planks or the ship constructed out of the old planks? This argument refers to the history of the ship. The ship of Theseus is what it is because of its history. Only the original Theseus sailed the sea and partook in the Ancient Greek battles so only the original should be called the Theseus. What this argument brings to light is the idea that once something or someone is duplicated there are two options. One being that there is now an existential twin and the other that the original now ceases to be. To add on to this third argument one could also mention the soul of the ... • 3. Differences Between Physical And Human Geography Essay Exam# 1 Section# 2 Discussion/Essay Questions Question #1: Explain the differences between physical geography, human (or cultural) geography, and regional geography. Give examples of each. A: The major difference between physical and human geography, is that physical geography exists without the presence of human beings, as where human geography is a byproduct of human activity on the earth. Regional geography is a study of both physical and human geography with in a specific spatial unit. Mountains, and oceans or seas are great examples of physical geography. They have been created by Mother Nature alone, and help to shape the areas in which humans have come to inhabit. On the other hand human geography pertains to how as a species we have altered the landscape, and developed specific identities through languages, religions, and cultural norms. The Panama Canal, countless dams worldwide, and china s island building in the South China Sea. Showcase the ability of humans to alter geography across the globe. For the most part similar languages and cultures dominate different areas. East Asia mandarin and Buddhism, the Middle East Arabic and Islam, North America English and Christianity just to name a few. Regional geography is to look at both human and physical geography to divide areas in to specific realms, regions, and transition zones. Each with their own dominating characteristics. With the new twitter update which allows that creation of polls that users can vote in, countless accounts have been created to poke fun at someone s personality or looks, this is what is called cyberbullying, and it happens each and everyday. Cyberbullying is a problem that affects more than one fourth of adolescents in middle school and high school. With the growth of technology it has become more imperative to implement programs in schools to help solve this problem. Today, teenagers rely more on the internet, and other technologies to keep in touch with their friends, and social lives. They are on all sorts of social media platforms such as facebook, twitter, instagram, snapchat and so much more. They also use different forms of technology such as cellphones, and online chatrooms to communicate with friends and social circles. Many adolescents use this growing technology as a bridge between their everyday reality, and virtual reality, and sometimes, use this technology to intimidate and harass other students which is a form of cyberbullying. Introduction / Background Enzymes are proteins that are in every living organism. Cells need them to survive and to function. Enzymes are catalysts that help to speed up the rate of reactions that otherwise would take longer periods of time to occur. However they do not change during the reaction. A chain of amino acids forms them. There are over a hundred different enzymes in the human body. Each enzyme is responsible for a certain reaction that occurs in the cell. For instance, the enzymes in our stomach cut food into small enough particles so it can be converted into energy, which our bodies will later use. Without enzymes human wouldn t be able to breathe, eat, drink or digest food. There are 3 main types of enzymes: metabolic enzymes, food enzymes and digestive enzymes. Metabolic enzymes exist throughout your whole body from your organs to your blood to inside your bones. This enzyme is essential for the growth of new cells and maintaining new tissue. Food enzymes exist in raw food. However if the raw food is cooked the high temperature that is involved in cooking the food will destroy the enzyme. The organs in our bodies make digestive enzymes. This enzyme plays a major role in digestion. When we eat raw food we don t need additional enzymes because the raw food already contains them. Then, we were seated in a room where she briefly presented the history (after being founded in 1961, the goals of the WWF have expanded throughout the years from protecting natural areas to protecting, managing and restoring nature, as well as enhancing biodiversity and limiting footprints) and the structure of the WWF. What really surprised me was that every WWF in a country is to a large extent independent, and picks its own problems to work on. The sources of funding also differ per country, and these sources sometimes also determine what the WWF in that country focuses on. What does West say about the space in Holbein s portrait of George Gisze? What is in the space and what is the contradiction she sees between the things and the figure? Holbein s portrait is one that contains many contradictions. The composition is somewhat confusing, for it is a meticulously detailed painting; yet, the painting is riddled with perspectival impossibilities. • 13. Analysis Of Dances With Wolves And Unforgiven According to the film critic, Phillip French, The Western has always been about America rewriting and reinterpreting her own past, if this is indeed the case, then the two most popular Westerns of the early 1990s reveal that many Americans had rejected the traditional interpretation of the Old West. The critically and commercially successful, Dances with Wolves and Unforgiven, repudiated the patriotic frontier myth that had characterised the Western when it was the preeminent genre in American cinema. Informed by new Western historiography, itself an expression of political concerns that had been moving into the American mainstream since the 1960s, the movies display a complex and nuanced understanding of the frontier experience. Dances with Wolves rejected the traditional narrative of the inherent superiority of the Anglo American hero conquering both Native Americans and the wilderness, and also focused on the environmental destruction that accompanied the ideology of Manifest Destiny. Unforgiven would similarly reject the frontier myth, replacing the democratic, civilised frontier town, with a brutal regime in which white men s property rights prevail over any sense of justice. The film is noted for its self reflexive nature, with a writer documenting and embellishing the tales of the Old West before the viewer s eyes. This self reflexion indicates that Americans were re evaluating the myths of the frontier, and seeing them for what they were, creations by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Meta analysis is the application of statistical techniques to integrate and summarize the results of several studies into a single estimate (Wolf, 1986). Wolf (1986) stated that meta analysis can be well applied in numerous areas within all the social, behavioral and biomedical sciences. One of the strengths of meta analysis is that it can include a large sample size. Thus, more variable and outcomes can be included (Walker et.al, 2008). For example, meta analysis can be effectively used in the analysis that could not be done in individual trials, such as regression analyses (Walker et.al, 2008). However, by including a large sample size, it would lead to subgroups of patients being compared (Walker et.al, 2008). In this case, Walker (2008) suggested that the best way to minimize this problem is to test the outcome before the data are collected and analyzed (Walker et.al, 2008). Written Assignment Unit 4 Introduction The word renaissance can be defined as renewal or rebirth and the Renaissance period was significant because it was an important transitional time, from approximately 1300 to 1700, in European history, which marked the end of the medieval world and the birth of the modern world. This essay will delve into the relationship between the arts and the growing body of scientific knowledge during the Renaissance and also examine three different works of art from the three major stylistic periods: Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo. Arts and the Growing Body of Scientific Knowledge During the Renaissance I feel that, during this time, there was a growing fascination and intrigue on scientific knowledge, specifically, human anatomical studies. Growing knowledge of human anatomy enabled artists to produce more realistic looking works of art. It is even said that Leonardo da Vinci, often considered to be the model Renaissance Man , believed that the moral and ethical meanings of his narrative paintings would emerge only through the accurate representation of human gesture and expression ( The Enduring Relationship of , 2003). As the body was only viewed as a transient vessel for the soul, during the Middle Ages, there was little interest in human anatomy, however, as Renaissance artists increasingly desired to create more authentic and lifelike works of art to more effectively convey their messages, there were, consequently, more scientific ... McFague argues that people must move toward thinking about sustaining the world, not just the people. McFague poses the concept of the Earth being a household that everyone in society livings a part of this one house that lives together. Therefore, she goes to mention that those of the Christian Faith embrace all creations and not just human beings who make up less than one percent of it (120). McFague asserts that society needs to pay more attention to what is happening with the environment because under this neoclassical model people are consuming too many resources. The Neoclassical model is a system that sees human beings on the planet as a corporation or syndicate, a collection of individuals drawn together to benefit its members by optimal use of resources (124). McFague argues that this model exploits the earth s resources and causes greed in people, which has led to their being a need for economic reform. Therefore, Mcfague poses the Ecological model as the solution, which sees the planet as a community that survives and prospers only through the interdependence of all its parts, human and nonhuman (McFague 127). The ecological model is about sustaining the environment and limiting the greed of individuals by transforming society from thinking about oneself to more of a community mindset. Therefore, McFague mentions people must thinking about the world as a community in order for the world to flourish, which means that the earth s resources must be distributed justly among all its inhabitants, human and each other, on a sustainable basis (120). The Fallout After World War 1 And The Great Depression The fallout after the World War 1 and the Great Depression saw the emergence of a literary preoccupation with the idea of fragmentation, and a cubist application to literature as a means of representing the 20th Century modern reality. Authors, poets, artists etc saw; cubism, expressionism and fragmentation as the best vehicles to depict the incomplete, broken lives of their subjects. With both modern and post modern literature making a conscious break away from previous realism, 20thC literature employed and explored subjectivism, whereby the author turned from the typical external reality to the inner consciousness of a character or subject, to reflect a motif/ theme as a whole. Modernist literature did so by exploring fragmentation in terms of narrative, how a character was constructed, the formation of passages and chapters, and how events unfolded. This typically surmounted to the creation of a sense of a chaotic universe, metaphysically unfounded, laced with the subconscious fears of characters and notions of alienation. This was successfully created by reconsidering and challenging the established conventions of perspective . • 24. A Byzantine Fault Introduction Faults occur in every system which may halt the systems functionality. A fault that presents different symptoms to different observers is called a Byzantine fault. These Byzantine faults form the reason for the loss of a system service and are called Byzantine failures. A Byzantine failure may occur due to arbitrary problems like corruption in their local state, production of incorrect outputs or by processing requests incorrectly instead of the general situations like crashing or stopping. The ability of a system to defend itself from Byzantine failures is called Byzantine fault tolerance which is a sub field of fault tolerance. A reliable computer system is a system that overcomes failures, one such failure is the Byzantine Generals problem. This problem is rare and generally overlooked by the people who are unfamiliar with the problem. It brings down the entire network if not tackled properly. This problem is most common in distributed dependable network. This paper aims at explaining the Byzantine Generals problem and providing a possible solution to that problem. My motivation to write this topic comes from the wide usage of distributed systems in various fields like particle physics, bioinformatics, weather, climate, visualization and graphics, economics and finance etc., and the need to protect such systems. Failure of distributed systems leads to huge loss of resources, time and money. Thus protecting from these kinds of failure is a challenging task ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are many careless drivers on the road who are mostly talking on the hand held cell phone. It is predicted that using a hand held phone would take the driver s attention away and would cause driving slowly. Since many accident reports show that cell phone use while driving is dangerous it is questionable if listening to radio will also be detrimental on driving task. Many people turn on the radio for entertainment or to fight from drowsiness especially if there is no other passenger in the vehicle. It is predicted that having a conversation with using a hand held cell phone while driving will decrease the driving performance, while listening to a radio broadcast will not have significant effect. Important implications for the results for driving performance and for future research will be discussed. The Effect of Using a Cell Phone and Listening to Radio on Driving Performance Many researchers agree that numerous drivers engage in dual task that includes eating, talking or listening to radio, which take away their visual attention (Ünal, Platteel, Steg Epstude, 2013). It is suggested that talking and driving at the same time increase the risk of accident and that it produces the same consequence of driving while intoxicated (Atchley, Dressel, Jones, Burson Marshall, 2011). • 30. Juxtaposition Of Innocence And Corruption In Daisy Miller... Structuralism is the idea that language exists in patterns, therefore all literary works begin to develop underlying elements common to all human experiences (Purdue). Structuralist criticism analyzes these patterns, elements, and themes that interconnect the works in order to better understand them (Rump). In the story arcs of both Henry James Daisy Miller and Stephanie Meyer s Twilight, structuralist themes include the juxtaposition of innocence and corruption, and ignobility and refinement. Henry James novel Daisy Miller is a prime example; Daisy is the perfect embodiment of innocence. the young Miller is said to take on three different kinds of innocence. The first is ignorance, in which Daisy is uneducated on the customs and mannerisms of Europe and speaks unabashedly about her personal life, what Winterbourne perceives to be the most unbecoming of her. The second is naïveté, in which Daisy is unable to discern others motives, ultimately leading to her demise. The third is a blamelessness, where she has done nothing immoral out of malice but simply from her upbringing in the spirited nature of the American culture rather than the reserved and refined European culture. Daisy Miller s corruption originates from two men in her life; Her major love interest, Mr. Giovanelli, an Italian man with an unknown background, is the indirect cause of her corruption and the direct cause of her ultimate downfall. In 1988, Biden plagiarized speeches from a British politician, destroying any chance of a successful campaign. Biden ran for president in 2008 as well, earning less than one percent of the vote in Iowa. Biden s foreign policy and national security record is slim at best. (Oates, 95) Oates Three Girls tells the story of two girl poets in the Strand Bookstore in Manhattan on a snowy day in March of 1956. They wander through the aisles of poetry, with commentary about various poets and collections of poetries and how they reflected on the girl poets . We were girl poets passionately enamored of T.S. Eliot but scornful of Robert Frost, whom we d been made to memorize in high school Slyly we communicated in code phrases from Eliot in the presence of obtuse others in our dining hall and residence. (Oates, 92) Suddenly she is pulled from her thoughts, as her friend touches her wrist and guides her further into the store to stumble upon Marilyn Monroe. From here, the girl poets follow her discretely, with a commentary of how Monroe s discretion was so much different form how she was normally seen. She was, at that moment, not a garnish blond showgirl , but rather this woman was an individual wholly absorbed in selecting, leafing through, pausing to read books (Oates, 93) They continue to follow her until she reaches the storefront, where they volunteer to pay for her books to keep the secret of her being here. From there they return her books to her outside, with her gifting them the Selected Poems of Marianne Moore before departing. The story closes with the two girl poets sharing their first kiss. Many critics mimic the same thoughts when they discuss how a large majority of his poems were based on his personal experience. They are clearly personal and some almost seem biographical as he remembers his past and his family as he grew older.
