The Catholic Church Of Gothic And Scholastic Ideals
As the rigidity of the Roman Catholic Church s power, influence, and corruption reached a climax
during the Romanesque period, humanity s desire for a more pleasurable life began to increase. The
Middle Ages brought about a transition that began to replace spiritual emphasis in life and highlighted
intellectualism and religious skepticism. Though the church s power was not necessarily undermined,
it was certainly revolutionized and dampened. Examples of this humanistic transformation were
represented through the union of Gothic and Scholastic ideals. Rather than simply scare the population
into being religious and pious, the Gothic era welcomed the population beginning with France,
followed by the rest of Europe through the airy, dream like, colorful, and uplifting beauty of the
Gothic Cathedrals. This radical change would not have come about were it not for Aristotle s
nominalist philosophy during Antiquity, which pioneered the future revival of this somewhat liberal
thinking. Aristotelian thought had been carried through the twelfth and fifteenth centuries and is
regarded as the most remarkable movements of European intellectual history (Craig 11). The great
originality and realism that Aristotle engineered provoked articulation and provided momentum for
expanded thought and thinkers alike. Aristotle created a highly adaptable and able lifestyle that
demanded more of humanity itself, [These] needs were not just religious but also medical, and,
perhaps most important,

The Great Leaders Of The Civil Rights Movement
Throughout history, people have made sacrifices, changes, and big decisions that later sometimes
result in something grand. These grand occurrences can either be good or bad. Usually as time goes on
these events and most well known people of this time are highlighted in history classes for students to
learn and to honor those of that time. However, some of the smaller people that contributed to
historical events aren t as highlighted as those that were seen as the big leaders. For example, in the
American Revolution, the people that usually come to mind are George Washington, Paul Revere, and
Thomas Jefferson. What about the people who were injured, scared and killed because of this bloody
war? They seem to be forgotten until they are highlighted once again. Another example of a person
that was not really highlighted for their actions is Nina Simone. She made an impact on the Civil
Right Movement that not many other artist or celebrity would have done. When you think of the Civil
Rights Movement the first three that come to mind of course are, Martin Luther King Jr., Malcom X,
and Rosa Parks. So, when someone hears the name Nina Simone the two most common responses
might be Who s that? or Oh the singer? . But what is forgotten is how she, at such a high level, put her
reputation at a risk. Nina Simone was a very well known singer of the 1950s and 1960s especially for
her song Feeling Good . She didn t just use her popularity for fame and money but to express

Giger And Davidhizar Transcultural Model In Health Care
Giger and DavidHizar Transcultural Assessment Model: Hispanic Cultural Awareness in Healthcare
112149135
Boise State University Giger and DavidHizar Transcultural Assessment Model: Hispanic Cultural
Awareness in Healthcare In every profession, there are underlying key aspects as to how that
profession functions. Moreover, in the nursing profession there are processes used to facilitate quality
care, as well as models to show the aspects of how we address this care. Likewise, Cultural aspects are
deemed a high priority in establishing greater quality care, and are considered within each aspect of
the Giger and DavidHizar Transcultural Model. The Giger and DavidHizar Transcultural Model, is a
model used in healthcare to establish how care is provided and what to consider when implementing
care. It is devised of communication, space, social organization, time, environmental control, and
biological variations. Each aspect is discussed in depth, giving relevance in a specific culture;
Hispanics. Within the culture title of Hispanics, we expand further to specifically discuss family and
children in relation to this model. Furthermore, how providers intervene in cultural implications that
arise in the healthcare setting, reflects how they interpret the model and make use of the nursing
processes. Using two aspects of the model, two implications have been used for example purposes,
using Hispanic culture as reference. This shows a great way to effectively make

Rhetorical Analysis Of Dakota By Debra Marquart
Debra Marquart described the place she is from very badly. She uses emotional appeal to
characteristics s the upper west. She shows shows how many different people view North Dakota and
how many believe it is just another ugly desert. Marquaty was also able to use ad hominem in the way
she described the place she grew up in.
In using emotional appeal, she wants to make the audience feel a certain way about North Dakota.
Marquart does this when she says, being blond, fresh faced, band Midwestern makes their descent into
ruthless behavior in places like Los Angeles and New York all the more tragic, (Marquart L. 17 20).
She described that many women in North Dakota are blonde and have strong attitudes but, what others

She wants them to believe that people from North Dakota are just like any other human beings and
that their hom is a beautiful place. She wants everyone to be open minded about the place she grew up
in. Even though she speaks badly about it, she does it so that others can see what it looks like to speak
badly about a place someone calls home.
Marquart wants to show the audience that between the years 1885 and 1911, people viewed the
Midwest as a beautiful and exceptional Place everyone wanted to go to. Marquart says, They traveled
to the Midwest by train to what was then the end of the line Eureka, South Dakota... I have found it ...
My grandparents wouldn t have known the etymology of the word, but they would have felt it, the
anticipation, as they waited along with the other immigrants from Russia to receive their allotments of
land, ( Marquart L. 64 74). This quote shows how back in the eighteenth and nineteen hundreds,
people view the Midwest as a chance to make it to something amazing. She shows this part at the end
because she wants to show the audience that even though throughout the whole passage she speaks
badly of it, there is always a small amount of good in everything. Eureka was South Dakota, and many
immigrants from Russia, including her grandparents, saw the place as something amazing because

Advantage And Disadvantage Of Composite Materials
Composite materials (also called composition materials or shortened to composites) are materials
made from two or more constituent materials with significantly different physical or chemical
properties, that when combined, produce a material with characteristics different from the individual
components. The individual components remain separate and distinct within the finished structure.
The new material may be preferred for many reasons: common examples include materials which are
stronger, lighter or less expensive when compared to traditional materials. In the last decades, the use
of natural fibers as reinforcement in polymeric composites for technical application has been a
research subject of scientist. Interest in natural fibers has increased worldwide due to their low cost,
low density, hardness, higher fatigue endurance, good thermal and mechanical resistivity and to their
environmental friendliness. The Asian markets have been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

different uses depending upon the requirement. In engineering, brown fibres are mostly used. There
are many general advantages of coconut fibres e.g. they are moth proof, resistant to fungi and rot,
provide excellent insulation against temperature and sound, not easily combustible, flame retardant,
unaffected by moisture and dampness, tough and durable, resilient, springs back to shape even after
constant use, totally static free and easy to clean. There is a huge difference in some properties, e.g.

Domestication Of Foxes Essay

Science Research Paper
Domestication of foxes in Russia In the world people have been domesticating animals for
amusement, comfort, and for them to be mans best friend. Now a new mans best friend comes to
thought; to domesticate foxes. In Russia a Soviet geneticist Dmitry K. Belyaev started the fast pace
domestication of foxes. Up to 50,000 foxes used through time people are getting close to the
domestication of foxes, although the process was very detailed; with genetic science, to identify how
phenotypes change from experiments, and how the fox s will change their behavior. Out of a small
town in 1954 in Siberia Dmitry K Belyaev set out to isolate the genes of dogs that were easy to train.
He decided he wanted to work ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their body size, fur color, fur length, and if the fur was straight or curly was all altered. Some lost
pigmentation in some areas of their body. Many physical traits changed for them by domestication.
Although some people get domestication confused, domestication is the change in a genetic level. The
actual definition is is the process whereby a population of living organisms is changed at the genetic
level, through generations of selective breeding, to accentuate traits that ultimately benefit the interests
of humans. Taming is different then domestication by a long shot. Taming means to train a wild
animal not to kill the human. Also by taming them, the fox doesn t have a strong affection and
willingness to do anything to comfort the human. The program also tests willingness to obedience. For
the owner of the fox to have a great relationship with his companion, the fox must learn simple
obedience. Simple calls will be tested on the foxes in Russia: come, sit, stay, down, and settle. All
domesticated foxes will go through the process by hand gestures. Then the scientists will take notes on
how the animals do. If the kits are raised and treated like domesticated dog puppies and pass this test,
then the scientist will concur that the genes are pertinent to domestication and are present in their

How Graffiti Has Changed Over Time
Guillermo Corte
Professor Peppard
English 110 86
04 May 2015 How Graffiti has Changed over Time. Graffiti is the act of inscribing or drawing on
walls for the purpose of communicating a message to the general public. The term comes from the
Greek term Graphein, which means to write. Graffiti has been around since men first started drawing
pictures in caves. However, the focus of this paper is not on pre historic or amateur graffiti, but on the
modern hip hop graffiti movement that began in the late 1960 s. The graffiti has two versions: a legal
aspect, in which artists are able to spray paintings and murals of great spectacle and technical. The
illegal side, is where they express their painting in public spaces such as schools, metros, trains,
posters, and wall Streets, etc. Graffiti are a poor choice for people who practiced this objective
because it deny people in follow good roads which is seen a bad self expression and they also may be
expensive, putting pressure on low income families. Controversial, secrecy, and taboo are some points
that connect with graffiti argument where graffiti has changed over the years.
The difference between art and vandalism is the vandal do not respect for another individual
properties. However, society still discriminates against very talented men and women who put their
talents to the public. These are considered as vandals because they damage private property and

Who Is Dr Manette A Round Character
Manette, The Doctor Who Became A Hero Round characters in fiction, unlike static characters and
flat characters, are extremely realistic, behaving and speaking in a real life manner...complex and
increases in complexity throughout the story ( Round character. ). In A Tale Of Two Cities, Dr.
Manette acts as one of the primary, round characters. Due to his unjust time in prison, Dr. Manette
appears to be emotionally unstable, but his personality changes drastically over the course of the story.
Dr. Manette starts off as a broken old man, changes into a better person with the help of his
companions, and becomes a foil for the most ruthless character in the entire novel. Although several
characters, like Sydney, go through large amounts of change, Dr. Manette holds the title of the
character with the most amount of character development in A Tale Of Two Cities.
In Book The First , Dr. Manette appears to be emotionally unstable due to his time in prison. Before

In the experiment we concluded that room temperature had the longest duration and that the
hypothesis that the hot temperature water would last longer was terribly wrong. The hot temperature
water had the shortest time, and in all three trials it did not last longer that 3 and a half minutes. The
room temperature water had an average time of 13 minutes and 43 seconds and the cold temperature
water had an average temperature 13 minutes and 44 seconds. The cold temperature water had one
second longer duration than the room temperature this is because in the 3rd trial the cold temperature

The copper sulfate crystals could have been different sizes, even though we tried to keep them
relatively the same size during the experiment. Another thing that could have gone wrong with the
experiment is that there was inconsistent stirring during the trials with different temperature water,
which could have affected the duration of the luminols light. The biggest concern that happened with
the experiment was that the lights duration is guessed by the scientists doing the experiment, there is
no way to know that the solution is done glowing scientifically.
If the experiment was to be redone, it would be best if a few parts were changed. instead of doing
individual crystals you could do scoops of crystals, so that the size of the crystal wouldn t affect the
experiment and it would be a constant amount throughout the experiment and the different trails.
Another thing that could be altered would be that there could somehow be a consistent way to know
for sure when the luminol s light went out.
In a variation of the project you could try different amounts of copper sulfate crystals, probate
mixture, or luminol mixture on the same amount of water. Also you can change the amount of water
and use the same amount of copper sulfate crystals, probate mixture, or luminol mixture. To see the
effect on the duration of the luminols light you can try stirring for different amounts of time or at

Music As A Predictor For Personality
For years, music has been an important part of the lives of millions of people all over the world. Music
is one of the earliest forms of expressive art and is part of many cultures. It is used by all people of
different ages, ethnicities, and gender for many purposes. For many, music is a part of everyday life,
being used in social situations. For others, it may be used just as a way to unwind after a long,
stressful day, but can it be used to as a predictor for personality? Do people who experience high/low
levels of aggression and self esteem listen to particular genres? Psychologists have started to study
how music exactly can lead to an understanding on human behavior.
Over the past years, numerous researchers have shown interest in musical preferences and how they
relate to personality traits as well (Cattell Anderson, 1953; Dollinger, 1993). However, because of
changes in music and its lyrical content over time, music itself has become an issue of interest and
concern. Music and lyrical content have become gradually more explicit with references to drugs, sex,
and violence. The anti social themes overall have lead many adults, mostly parents of young children
and teens, to rally against it, especially heavy metal and rap. The anti social themes have also lead the
study of music s impact on emotion and behavior.

The health industry has become the most attractive targets for cyber criminals, because of the large
volumes of protected health, personals, and financial data that are retained. Therefore, it is no surprise
that they have become such a popular target among cyber criminal organizations. Cybercriminals
utilizes various methods to obtain the information they are seeking from both medical insurance and
health industry corporations.
These methods include:
Insider threats stealing patient records and other sensitive information while working for a company

Using old criminal tactics such as bribing or threatening physical harm to employee with access to

Hackers breaking into record data bases, utilizing malware to steal email, dumpster diving, and

The Use Of Visual Imagery On Social Media
There s a movement of feminists who use visual imagery on social media to break the stigmas
surrounding body hair. In an extention this reflects and becomes a sign of refusal against dominating
power relations between the genders. I will proove this idea talking about the stigmatization of body

Bilingualism And Aphasia A Theoretical Review
Bilingualism and Aphasia a Theoretical Review Roxanne M. Cazarez Florida State University
Bilingualism in the United States has risen steadily over the past several decades. According to the
U.S. Census Bureau in 2011, 21% of the population reported speaking a language other than English.
The expanding multiculturalism in this country has been compared to a salad bowl that blends
ingredients into a cohesive but distinctive integration. Likewise, the organization of the brain can be
thought of comparatively in that localized parts of the brain have different functions but integrate
when mediating behaviors of the mind. However, speaking two or more languages impacts the way
language and behavior is processed. Research has been conducted to explore dual language
representation and its impact on neural organization after injury. Such research has revealed
neurophysiological differences and recovery patterns in bilinguals with aphasia. The purpose of this
paper is to explain the two main theoretical constructs that explain dual language representation and
the clinical implications to those who are bilingual and have aphasia. It is important to recognize the
neurological differences amongst monolingual and bilingual individuals. In the research community,
many studies have been conducted to investigate the way both groups process language. Cross

On September 20, 2014, Emma Watson delivered a speech to the United Nations to address the issue
of gender inequality. She spoke to gain support and involvement, to make a difference for something
she felt strongly about, by advocating the HeForShe campaign. Emma employed all three rhetorical

Addiction And The Treatment Of Addiction
What if I was to tell you that everything you know about addiction is untrue? What if I was to say that
our pre conceived views on addiction were based on ignorance. It s pretty simple really, it s about
CONNECTION NOT addiction.
Good morning Mrs. Arnold, Ms. Shields and class, today I will be talking to you about addiction and
arguing how the treatment of this disease is actually quite simple. 1) we disconnected them from their
substance abuse 2) we reconnected them with important people in their lives who they love a value,
regardless of how damaged that relationship has become 3) 100% on time and energy should be spent
on strong relationships and moving them to next stage in their lives.
Have you ever watched someone you love fall into a spiral of darkness, crowded with pain, self
anguish and pure contradiction of both love and hatred for their weakness?.
A weakness which has both defined and collapsed every relationship, every situation that they have.
Despite this fixation, this person is thoroughly aware that it is in fact an enslavement, they know the

drug. Why?
Firstly, I would like to begin by telling you all, that everything you know or have been taught about
addiction or the treatment of addiction, is untrue. Despite being students, we seem to have these pre

Texas Government Power
The state of Texas has grudge against authority. In fact, there s general distrust against the
government. Texas constantly limits the governor s power, which makes him one of the weakest
governors compared to other states. The plural executive system of Texas takes away power from the
Governor. However, this doesn t detain the governor from playing a vital legislative role.
The plural executive branch in Texas limits the Power of the Governor by dividing the responsibilities
he has into various elected officials. In fact, these elected officials do not have to answer to the
Governor, nor do they work together as a cabinet in the way that executive officials serve the U.S.
President. (Texas Politics). This creates a difficult environment to work; sometimes those officials do
not form part of the same political party, which creates conflict. In addition, the governor does not
form part of the decisions happening in the state, which sometimes create a miscommunication
between Texans and the Government. Texans often blame the governor for things out of his control.

My Trip To Mackinaw Island-Personal Narrative
It was last summer around July when my family and I woke up around 7:00 A.M to drive to
Mackinaw Island. Preparing for this trip was extremely hectic because we had to pack all of our
clothes and food that we wanted for the car ride. We were all in the car around 7:45 with all of our
things packed. We locked all the doors up and turn all the lights off. The drive took us about 4 hours to
get to St. Ignace. My sisters and I watched a movie during the car ride, read and did homework so that
we were occupied during the long car ride. My favorite part when we were driving was probably when
we went across the Mackinaw Bridge because, it felt like our car was driving on the bright blue lake
which was cool. My mom was frightened to look out the window ... Show more content on

she went to 6th grade camp. My Dad went up desk and paid for two tickets, one for me and one for
my sister Lauryn. First we had to step through a harness and buckle it around our waste. Next, we had
to put on a red helmet that had the company s logo and a strap to put around our neck. Once all of our
safety gear was on we moved to the tall platform. I could hear my heart starting to pound out of my
chest. I was beginning to have second thoughts. I could feel my hair blowing in the wind. It was time
for me to go. The man pushed me off the platform. Suddenly my feet were dangling in mid air. I felt
like I was flying in the sky. Beneath us were people playing mini golf. I was wondering what would
happen if I fell down, but I realized that I was going to be safe and that it would be unrealistic. Once
we reached the end of the zip line we had to walk all the way back to where we started. We went on
the zipline again because my parents got the tickets where you got to go two times. After that, we
thanked our parent because we knew that this was something that we were going to remember. My

The Assumption And Implication Of Good Faith Play
Introduction When one party receives a check and transfers it, is the transferee a holder in due course?
The response to this question is it depends on the facts and circumstances. The assumption and
implication of good faith play a role in determining a holder in due course. In our case, one party is
attempting to take advantage of the other through fraud and deceit. This paper explores who is a
holder in due course, the influence of fraud and deceit, the role of the stop payment, and who is
responsible when a situation goes wrong. Material Facts I agree with the court s decision because of
fraud, deception, and a lack of holder in due course status. Here are the material facts of the case. John

on the $10,000 check. Several years prior to this transaction, Guarino established check cashing

possession of the $10,000 check on January 11 and took it to Any Kind s Stuart, Florida to cash the

Kenneth Branagh Hamlet Comparison Essay
Kenneth Branagh successfully adapts Shakespeare s Hamlet into a modern film. His version of the
tragedy allows enthusiasts to experience Shakespeare as a movie. Branagh s use of an unabridged
script and flashback scenes provide the complete story of Hamlet. The variety of camera shots
highlight Hamlet s intense dialogue and soliloquies. Patrick Doyle s original score emphasizes action,
suspense, and drama. Therefore, through his screenplay, cinematography, and score, Branagh caters to
Shakespeare enthusiasts interested in seeing Hamlet on the big screen.
Branagh made the choice to include the full text of Hamlet in his screenplay. It is the only unabridged
film edition of the tragedy (Massey). The full script provides the complete story of Hamlet for the
audience. In other film adaptations, certain lines, scenes, or characters may be omitted. In Hamlet
(1948), Fortinbras, Rosencrantz, and Guildenstern are cut entirely (Jackson). As well as the entire text,
Branagh also uses flashbacks to further develop Shakespeare s story. Flashback scenes depict Hamlet s
prior relationship with Ophelia, Claudius murdering King Hamlet, and Hamlet playing with jester
Yorick as a child. Therefore, Branagh s screenplay ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

angles outline the importance of the dialogue. Branagh and Thomson s cinematography requires the

Summary Of The Watchmaker Argument By William Paley
The Watchmaker Argument by William Paley has been of great controversy because of its analogy
between the creation of a watch and the creation of the universe. Paley s argument consists of the idea
of there being a creator for everything, he uses the complicated composition of a watch as to prove
that there has to be a watchmaker and therefore the complicated composition of the universe serves as
to prove that there is in fact a Universe creator (God). Although Paley s argument is strong and valid,
David Hume s opposing argument is more valid due to the premises he uses. Hume argues that it is
impossible to compare something created by the human mind to something as complex as the universe
simply because there is a lot about the creation of the universe that is unknown, unlike the creation of
a house (or watch).
William Paley uses the invention of a watch as an analogy to the invention of the universe. He argues
that if we observe the very complicated and detailed design of the universe we can see that there was
in fact a maker. Paley argues that the complicated structure of a watch is enough prove that there was a
watch maker just like the complicated structure of the universe is prove enough to show that there is
universe maker. He also shows that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Enabled Smart Phones as Keys to the Clarion Hotel
Enabled smart phones from the Entry and Exit to the room, rather than traditional key at the Clarion
Hotel With the advent of smart phones featuring Near Field Communications (NFC) technology, the
same device used to make calls and access email can also be used to open office and residential doors,
and to even check in to a hotel and go directly to the room without first having to visit the front desk.
This capability was first demonstrated by Clarion Hotel Stockholm whose goal was to solicit feedback
from guests and employees regarding the use of NFC phones for a variety of services [38].
In the Clarion pilot, selected hotel guests received a Samsung mobile phone with NFC technology and
digital keys software from ASSAABLOY They booked their hotel rooms the usual way and received
confirmation on their mobile phones. Before arrival, they were texted a link for on line check in, after
which a digital hotel room key was delivered to their phones. Upon arrival, guests skipped the check
in line, went directly to their rooms, and opened their doors by holding their mobile phones close to
the door locks. Upon departure, the doors locked automatically, and guests checked out by touching
their phones to a lobby kiosk, which completed checkout and deactivated their room keys [38].

their room at the hotel is ready, along with a request to check in. If the

Filming for Alien began on Wednesday, 5th July 1978.
In addition to the seven main cast members, over 200 technicians were hired to construct the film s
three principal sets. These included the interiors of the Nostromo, the surface of the planetoid and the
derelict spacecraft.
Several of the Nostromo s corridors were created from portions of scrapped aircraft bombers. A mirror
was used to create the illusion of them being far longer in length. Low resolution computer monitors
and large transistors were applied throughout the ship s set to give off a used industrial look. This

What Is The Difference Between Roark And Peter Keating
Howard Roark and Peter Keating s means of achieving success diverge in that Keating assumes the
caliber of his outcomes on the approval of others through his application of external guidance whereas
Roark disclaims any external sentiment toward his work; he operates independent from the judgement
of others and external impacts on his product. In order to evaluate the fortune of these two characters,
success must be delineated. One application of achievement establishes it on the measurement of how
well one executes a task, and their procurance. Many gauge their earnings through interactions with
others; to an extent, social conditioning generates human dependence. The Fountainhead, however,
confronts this conception of success with a jarring contrast between Keating s and Roark s paths.

Toys R Us Case
Analysis of Toys R Us Case in Japan There are various fundamental basics that any organization large
or small scale needs to follow when setting up a new company locally and also when they venture
across borders in international entrepreneurship. Effective management is one important aspect that
will ensure that the company successfully achieves its goals and objectives efficiently. Management
consists of organizing, planning, and leading (Adler Gundersen 2008). Many businesses today define
management as simply the things that need to be done to keep the organization going. However, for

In their analysis, Toys R Us thought this would be a good market to invest in but further research
revealed that the retail industry would be hard to penetrate and with its plans of using the discount
formula would be an uphill task in this market. Most of the toy stores were small domestically owned
shops and displayed almost similar goods. They bought their goods from wholesalers who deal
directly with the manufacturers and the retailers sell their products at the manufacturers suggested
price. The business chain of manufacturers , wholesalers, distributors and retailers maintained their
long tern relationships on personal commitment rather than on competitive terms. Conversely, the
American market system is very different from that of Japan. Businesses in America try at most to
reduce the chances of intermediaries and aim at reaching the customer directly. They find the Japanese
system cumbersome and the burden of the long chain falls on the consumer. They cannot expand their
businesses due to imposed regulations and seem to enjoy the benefits that are given by the
manufactures while they can achieve more if they are allowed to expand and dictate their own prices.
Toys R Us saw this as a great opportunity to break this tradition and introduce discount prices that
would change the toy market for the better. However, it proved to be a hard task for the company to

Racial Injustice Essay
Summative 1: Racial Injustice Racial injustice has been a recurring problem in the United States.
Americans didn t talk about how the blacks were being treated until Dr. Martin Luther King Jr started

problem, mostly between blacks and the police force. African American s have felt like the police
force is out to get them, with valid reason of course. People have tried to protest, using slogans such as
Black Lives Matter, although these protests have helped bring the light on police brutality towards
African Americans, they haven t helped find a cure for this sickness. The most notable protest in
modern day America is kneeling during the National Anthem, started by former San Francisco 49ers
quarterback Colin Kaepernick. I will be discussing why Kaepernick started taking a knee, how the
NFL reacted to the kneeling, as well as how the world has perceived kneeling. The question has long
lived, why did Colin Kaepernick begin kneeling and sitting during the national anthem. Kaepernick
started kneeling to protest police brutality, He s out there kneeling for my son and your son and my
daughter, said Symone Sanders, former press secretary for Bernie Sanders. Colin feels like he stood
for what is right even if that meant losing his football career. Colin s former high school guidance

Fahrenheit 451 And 1984
Several conflicting frames of mind have played defining roles in shaping humanity throughout the
twentieth century. Philosophical optimism of a bright future held by humanity in general was taken
advantage of by the promise of a better life through sacrifice of individuality to the state. In the books
Brave New World, 1984, and Fahrenheit 451 clear opposition to these subtle entrapments was voiced
in similarly convincing ways. They first all established, to varying degrees of balance, the atmosphere
and seductiveness of the utopia and the fear of the consequences of acting in the non prescribed way
through character development. A single character is alienated because of their inability to conform
often in protest to the forced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When these and other questions weigh upon his mind he begins to realize that something is
fundamentally wrong with the world he is living in. In Brave New World the main character, Bernard,
is set apart from society by physical differences, which, in a society of engineered people is extremely
inhibiting. It is these defects which cause him to look for a deeper meaning than the drug induced
happiness forced upon him. These characters, although alienated in the novels, are believable and
rational. The acts of their questioning in their search for the truth and real emotion persuade the reader
to do the same thing. It is in this manner that the utility of these novels becomes apparent; through the
demands they make of the reader personally a superior social commentary, one that demands
interaction, is born.
The characters struggles to hide their newly found individuality is a futile one. In Orwell s
interpretation of the totalitarian state of 1984, the society is technically and urbanly engineered to spy
on and perceive people s very thoughts. The society justifies these invasions by eliminating the
importance of the individual. The constant barrage of information regarding the greatness of the state
and Big Brother s supremacy over the common man forces everyone (in good mental health) to accept
these as the only unchanging facts. Any deviation from these beliefs would be immediately noticeable,

Causes Of Child Solider In A Long Way Gone
Youth are a vital site for understanding nation and globalization. (Shepler, Youthscapes, p. 122) One of

understanding the war as a crisis of youth does not mean just understanding RUF rebels and their
reasons for revolt. We must strive to understand the situation of a whole generation defined by

Chronic Renal Failure Research Paper
Acute renal failure occurs when your kidneys suddenly become unable to filter waste products from
your blood. As a result, dangerous levels of wastes may accumulate and your blood s chemical
makeup may get out of balance. It is usually caused by an event that leads to kidney malfunction such
as dehydration, blood loss from a major surgery or injury, or the use of certain medications. Symptoms
of decreased kidney function, such as fluid buildup or electrolyte imbalance are more likely to develop
with acute renal failure, regardless of how long the kidney itself has been malfunctioning. The signs

Your kidneys filter wastes and excess fluids from your blood, which are then excreted in your urine.
Initially, there may not be very many signs or symptoms present. As a result, chronic renal failure may
not become apparent until kidney function is significantly impaired. It is not uncommon for signs and
symptoms to develop over time if kidney damage progresses slowly. With that being said, signs and
symptoms of renal failure are often nonspecific and can be caused by other illnesses. Chronic renal
failure usually occurs when a disease or condition impairs kidney function such as diabetes or
hypertension, which causes kidney damage to worsen over several months or years. Unfortunately,
this can potentially lead to other problems including anemia and increased levels of phosphate in the
blood. There are several different forms of treatment for chronic renal failure, consisting mostly of
medications. These medications are used to treat the following: high blood pressure, lower cholesterol

done (non repudiation). For example, I turned in that homework assignment, in that exact wording and
format, ten minutes before the deadline. Here s the MD5 hash I used to fingerprint the dated file
before clicking, send. These are the problems that Transport Layer Security (TLS) aims to solve,
building on the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol originally created by a team at Netscape for
secure transactions on early websites (although similar to SSL, TLS is different enough for them to
not work together). TLS will create a tunnel that is an established connection between source and
destination, through which all packet data AND packet headers are encrypted. However, before TLS
gets involved, Dubh s source machine must first establish a reliable transport protocol with which to
communicate with the destination. In this case, we will (safely) assume that we are using Transmission
Control Protocol (TCP) to establish this connection: Dubh s Laptop: Hey E mail Server, I d like to
SYN chronize with you to share some data. E Mail Server: Dubh s Laptop, I ll SYN chronize with
you, do you ACK nowledge? Dubh s Laptop: I sure do ACK nowledge.

The Late 1800s Wilmington North Carolina
At the end of the 1800s Wilmington North Carolina was a very active city which centered on its port.
At that time it was the largest city in North Carolina. They had a very large African American
population, only one third of the people in the city were not African American. Wilmington was
considered a great place for African Americans because they were thriving economically and involved
politically.
The late 1800s were a different time politically. In Wilmington there were three main political parties.
The first was the Democratic Party. The Democratic Party at that time was much different than the one
today. They were the original party that supported slavery. At one time they controlled most of the
government but at that time

Cultural Changes In North Korea
Once a unified nation, Korea was divided into North and South because of ideological and global
geopolitical conflict (Priddy, 2013). After World War II, Soviet era communism and western liberal
capitalism were the architects that separated the Koreas. Officially known as the Democratic People s
Republic of Korea, North Korea followed the communist methodologies. This was a totalitarian
system that further enabled them to become an aggressive regime that controlled its people through
cultural change. Consequently, despite the 66 year conflict, an estimated 24 million North Korean
people have adapted and lived a life in cultural isolationism. The meaning of culture is a culmination
of behaviors, customs and a strong belief system that differentiates ... Show more content on

Specifically, the country has fought against the Chinese, Russians, and Japanese. In 1945, at the end of
World War II, North Korea allied with China while South Korea allied with the United States of
America. The Korean War began on 25 June 1950 and eventually, a stalemate occurred where neither
force could advance. The creation of the 38th Parallel resulted in a military demarcation line and the
northern limit line separating the two countries. Ultimately, on 27 July 1953, those involved signed the
Korean Armistice, halting any military provocation but not ending the war. The country remains
isolated and their only real ally currently is China. Meanwhile, over the years the United States and
South Korea have continued to perform semi annual joint exercises together in preparation for
possible North Korean military aggression. This has stirred controversy as the hermit kingdom views
these actions as threatening to the regime s existence. For this reason, North Korea has initiated
provocations within the peninsula by firing intercontinental ballistic missiles near Guam and over
Japan, into the Pacific Ocean. In response to these provocations, United Nations members voted to go
through with sanctions that greatly crippled North Korea from receiving outside

Selflessness In Russell Banks s The Sweet Hereafter
Since the beginning, children are taught to be selfless and think of others before themselves because it
will lead to a blissful life. However, one s selfless acts are often taken for granted. Russell Banks s
novel, The Sweet Hereafter, highlights that people generally do not value selflessness, so one should
prioritize his/her needs before others because that will help to attain a happy, and fulfilled life. In the
novel, Risa prioritizes herself by having an affair with Billy. Billy and Lydia do the same when they
go on vacation and use marijuana, with their children present, and so does Nichole by lying in her
deposition. All these examples make these characters quite happy. They also prove that in today s
society, small generous gestures can manage to make one feel good about him or herself. Nonetheless,
one should address his/her personal needs in certain situations, as people do not appreciate immense
selfless acts.
The first way Banks demonstrates that people should prioritize themselves before others in certain
situations, is when Risa Walker and Billy Ansel have an affair. Risa is extremely unhappy with her
current marriage with Wendell Walker, who holds her back from achieving her dreams because of his
lazy and pessimistic character. This is proven as Billy says, But she hadn t seen it before, and now she
believed that his character was getting in front of her realizing a very important dream. (Banks 57)
When Billy says this, readers understand that Risa

Mage The Awakening Effie s Character
Effie is one of my favorite role playing characters I ve made for the game Mage: the Awakening.
Mage: the Awakening takes place in a darker version of the real world with supernatural additions.
Effie is a mage; a magic user capable of bending reality. I wanted a larger than life character, while
still making her very human, vulnerable, and flawed. She is a person destined for great things, but she
still thinks about mundane things like her next paycheck. We share similar goals, even though the
methods we use while pursuing our goals are different. Because Mage: the Awakening is a horror
game I made a character capable of bringing hope to her companions, contrasting with the dark
themes of the game. Effie is short, with freckles and long curly ... Show more content on

The primary focus of her powers are control over physical forces, and understanding of the spirits of
nature. She can manipulate energy, influencing electricity or dampening sounds, which ties into her
knowledge of physics. More impressive feats of this power are reducing gravity in an area or igniting
the air, bending the laws of physics to her will. Her spirit magic influences beings that are essentially
personifications of an idea. In Mage: the Awakening, everything has a spirit, and different places hold
different kinds of spirits. A school, for example, has spirits representing knowledge, but also spirits
representing friendship, stress, and dedication. She calls on spirits to protect her, or share their
knowledge about places the spirits have been. She could control weaker spirits directly, making them
act against their will, but she feels that doing so is unethical. I didn t want her compromising her
morals in the pursuit of more power, which is a major theme in Mage: the Awakening. Effie represents
hope for a light in the darkness, reminding her friends that there is still good in the world, in spite of
power hungry mages. She is a powerful mage, but her magic isn t the only thing that makes her fun to
play. The connections she makes with other characters and how she interacts with the world are what
bring her to life. She is the heart of the group, providing a caring center for everyone, and

Rational Choice Theory Of Crime
Generally speaking, there is a strong need for theory when shaping criminal justice policies and
practices. As mentioned in this week s materials theories can assist with developing explanations
and/or ideas about criminal activity, such as, the factors that caused the offender to commit the crime,
how to prevent the offender and others from committing more crime, or the most effective
punishments. Without the presence of theories all policies and practices put into place would lack
verification of effectiveness and need (Blokar, 2015). In our readings, various theories on the
effectiveness of punishment were either verified or unsupported at some point in time over the past
three centuries. From my understanding of the reading Beccaria s belief that certainty is the most
important piece of punishment, even when compared to severity , (Cullen, Agnew, Wilcox, 2014)
counts as one of those verified factors when addressing punishment in our criminal justice system. ...

While Cornish and Clarkes version of the rational choice theory brought to surface the effect
situational factors had on rational choice that earlier rational choice theorist did not think address. This
theory pointed out how these situational factors (emotional state, individual traits, easiness of crime or
attitudes towards crime) influenced an individuals rational choice to participate or not participate in
criminal behavior (Cullen, Agnew, Wilcox, 2014). The presence of certain situational factors could
change the severity or type of punishment given to an offender. These two examples of theories sheds
light on the importance of theory in our criminal justice system, particularly the area of

  • 2. The Catholic Church Of Gothic And Scholastic Ideals As the rigidity of the Roman Catholic Church s power, influence, and corruption reached a climax during the Romanesque period, humanity s desire for a more pleasurable life began to increase. The Middle Ages brought about a transition that began to replace spiritual emphasis in life and highlighted intellectualism and religious skepticism. Though the church s power was not necessarily undermined, it was certainly revolutionized and dampened. Examples of this humanistic transformation were represented through the union of Gothic and Scholastic ideals. Rather than simply scare the population into being religious and pious, the Gothic era welcomed the population beginning with France, followed by the rest of Europe through the airy, dream like, colorful, and uplifting beauty of the Gothic Cathedrals. This radical change would not have come about were it not for Aristotle s nominalist philosophy during Antiquity, which pioneered the future revival of this somewhat liberal thinking. Aristotelian thought had been carried through the twelfth and fifteenth centuries and is regarded as the most remarkable movements of European intellectual history (Craig 11). The great originality and realism that Aristotle engineered provoked articulation and provided momentum for expanded thought and thinkers alike. Aristotle created a highly adaptable and able lifestyle that demanded more of humanity itself, [These] needs were not just religious but also medical, and, perhaps most important, ... • 3. The Great Leaders Of The Civil Rights Movement Throughout history, people have made sacrifices, changes, and big decisions that later sometimes result in something grand. These grand occurrences can either be good or bad. Usually as time goes on these events and most well known people of this time are highlighted in history classes for students to learn and to honor those of that time. However, some of the smaller people that contributed to historical events aren t as highlighted as those that were seen as the big leaders. For example, in the American Revolution, the people that usually come to mind are George Washington, Paul Revere, and Thomas Jefferson. What about the people who were injured, scared and killed because of this bloody war? They seem to be forgotten until they are highlighted once again. Another example of a person that was not really highlighted for their actions is Nina Simone. She made an impact on the Civil Right Movement that not many other artist or celebrity would have done. When you think of the Civil Rights Movement the first three that come to mind of course are, Martin Luther King Jr., Malcom X, and Rosa Parks. So, when someone hears the name Nina Simone the two most common responses might be Who s that? or Oh the singer? . But what is forgotten is how she, at such a high level, put her reputation at a risk. Nina Simone was a very well known singer of the 1950s and 1960s especially for her song Feeling Good . She didn t just use her popularity for fame and money but to express ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Moreover, in the nursing profession there are processes used to facilitate quality care, as well as models to show the aspects of how we address this care. Likewise, Cultural aspects are deemed a high priority in establishing greater quality care, and are considered within each aspect of the Giger and DavidHizar Transcultural Model. The Giger and DavidHizar Transcultural Model, is a model used in healthcare to establish how care is provided and what to consider when implementing care. Advantage And Disadvantage Of Composite Materials Composite materials (also called composition materials or shortened to composites) are materials made from two or more constituent materials with significantly different physical or chemical properties, that when combined, produce a material with characteristics different from the individual components. Graffiti is the act of inscribing or drawing on walls for the purpose of communicating a message to the general public. The term comes from the Greek term Graphein, which means to write. Graffiti has been around since men first started drawing pictures in caves. Over the past years, numerous researchers have shown interest in musical preferences and how they relate to personality traits as well (Cattell Anderson, 1953; Dollinger, 1993). However, because of changes in music and its lyrical content over time, music itself has become an issue of interest and concern. However, this doesn t detain the governor from playing a vital legislative role. The plural executive branch in Texas limits the Power of the Governor by dividing the responsibilities he has into various elected officials. In fact, these elected officials do not have to answer to the Governor, nor do they work together as a cabinet in the way that executive officials serve the U.S. President. (Texas Politics). Preparing for this trip was extremely hectic because we had to pack all of our clothes and food that we wanted for the car ride. We were all in the car around 7:45 with all of our things packed. My sisters and I watched a movie during the car ride, read and did homework so that we were occupied during the long car ride. • 27. Summary Of The Watchmaker Argument By William Paley The Watchmaker Argument by William Paley has been of great controversy because of its analogy between the creation of a watch and the creation of the universe. Paley s argument consists of the idea of there being a creator for everything, he uses the complicated composition of a watch as to prove that there has to be a watchmaker and therefore the complicated composition of the universe serves as to prove that there is in fact a Universe creator (God). Although Paley s argument is strong and valid, David Hume s opposing argument is more valid due to the premises he uses. Hume argues that it is impossible to compare something created by the human mind to something as complex as the universe simply because there is a lot about the creation of the universe that is unknown, unlike the creation of a house (or watch). William Paley uses the invention of a watch as an analogy to the invention of the universe. He argues that if we observe the very complicated and detailed design of the universe we can see that there was in fact a maker. The business chain of manufacturers , wholesalers, distributors and retailers maintained their long tern relationships on personal commitment rather than on competitive terms. Conversely, the American market system is very different from that of Japan. Businesses in America try at most to reduce the chances of intermediaries and aim at reaching the customer directly. Philosophical optimism of a bright future held by humanity in general was taken advantage of by the promise of a better life through sacrifice of individuality to the state. In the books Brave New World, 1984, and Fahrenheit 451 clear opposition to these subtle entrapments was voiced in similarly convincing ways. TLS will create a tunnel that is an established connection between source and destination, through which all packet data AND packet headers are encrypted. However, before TLS gets involved, Dubh s source machine must first establish a reliable transport protocol with which to communicate with the destination. In this case, we will (safely) assume that we are using Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) to establish this connection: Dubh s Laptop: Hey E mail Server, I d like to SYN chronize with you to share some data. • 41. The Late 1800s Wilmington North Carolina At the end of the 1800s Wilmington North Carolina was a very active city which centered on its port. At that time it was the largest city in North Carolina. They had a very large African American population, only one third of the people in the city were not African American. Wilmington was considered a great place for African Americans because they were thriving economically and involved politically. The late 1800s were a different time politically. In Wilmington there were three main political parties. The first was the Democratic Party. The Democratic Party at that time was much different than the one today. They were the original party that supported slavery. At one time they controlled most of the government but at that time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Cultural Changes In North Korea Once a unified nation, Korea was divided into North and South because of ideological and global geopolitical conflict (Priddy, 2013). After World War II, Soviet era communism and western liberal capitalism were the architects that separated the Koreas. Officially known as the Democratic People s Republic of Korea, North Korea followed the communist methodologies. This was a totalitarian system that further enabled them to become an aggressive regime that controlled its people through cultural change. Consequently, despite the 66 year conflict, an estimated 24 million North Korean people have adapted and lived a life in cultural isolationism. The meaning of culture is a culmination of behaviors, customs and a strong belief system that differentiates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Specifically, the country has fought against the Chinese, Russians, and Japanese. In 1945, at the end of World War II, North Korea allied with China while South Korea allied with the United States of America. The Korean War began on 25 June 1950 and eventually, a stalemate occurred where neither force could advance. The creation of the 38th Parallel resulted in a military demarcation line and the northern limit line separating the two countries. Ultimately, on 27 July 1953, those involved signed the Korean Armistice, halting any military provocation but not ending the war. The country remains isolated and their only real ally currently is China. Meanwhile, over the years the United States and South Korea have continued to perform semi annual joint exercises together in preparation for possible North Korean military aggression. This has stirred controversy as the hermit kingdom views these actions as threatening to the regime s existence. For this reason, North Korea has initiated provocations within the peninsula by firing intercontinental ballistic missiles near Guam and over Japan, into the Pacific Ocean. In response to these provocations, United Nations members voted to go through with sanctions that greatly crippled North Korea from receiving outside ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Selflessness In Russell Banks s The Sweet Hereafter Since the beginning, children are taught to be selfless and think of others before themselves because it will lead to a blissful life. However, one s selfless acts are often taken for granted. Russell Banks s novel, The Sweet Hereafter, highlights that people generally do not value selflessness, so one should prioritize his/her needs before others because that will help to attain a happy, and fulfilled life. In the novel, Risa prioritizes herself by having an affair with Billy. Billy and Lydia do the same when they go on vacation and use marijuana, with their children present, and so does Nichole by lying in her deposition. All these examples make these characters quite happy. They also prove that in today s society, small generous gestures can manage to make one feel good about him or herself. Nonetheless, one should address his/her personal needs in certain situations, as people do not appreciate immense selfless acts. The first way Banks demonstrates that people should prioritize themselves before others in certain situations, is when Risa Walker and Billy Ansel have an affair. Risa is extremely unhappy with her current marriage with Wendell Walker, who holds her back from achieving her dreams because of his lazy and pessimistic character. This is proven as Billy says, But she hadn t seen it before, and now she believed that his character was getting in front of her realizing a very important dream. (Banks 57) When Billy says this, readers understand that Risa ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Mage The Awakening Effie s Character Effie is one of my favorite role playing characters I ve made for the game Mage: the Awakening. Mage: the Awakening takes place in a darker version of the real world with supernatural additions. Effie is a mage; a magic user capable of bending reality. I wanted a larger than life character, while still making her very human, vulnerable, and flawed. She is a person destined for great things, but she still thinks about mundane things like her next paycheck. We share similar goals, even though the methods we use while pursuing our goals are different. Because Mage: the Awakening is a horror game I made a character capable of bringing hope to her companions, contrasting with the dark themes of the game. Effie is short, with freckles and long curly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The primary focus of her powers are control over physical forces, and understanding of the spirits of nature. She can manipulate energy, influencing electricity or dampening sounds, which ties into her knowledge of physics. More impressive feats of this power are reducing gravity in an area or igniting the air, bending the laws of physics to her will. Her spirit magic influences beings that are essentially personifications of an idea. In Mage: the Awakening, everything has a spirit, and different places hold different kinds of spirits. A school, for example, has spirits representing knowledge, but also spirits representing friendship, stress, and dedication. She calls on spirits to protect her, or share their knowledge about places the spirits have been. She could control weaker spirits directly, making them act against their will, but she feels that doing so is unethical. I didn t want her compromising her morals in the pursuit of more power, which is a major theme in Mage: the Awakening. Effie represents hope for a light in the darkness, reminding her friends that there is still good in the world, in spite of power hungry mages. She is a powerful mage, but her magic isn t the only thing that makes her fun to play. The connections she makes with other characters and how she interacts with the world are what bring her to life. She is the heart of the group, providing a caring center for everyone, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Rational Choice Theory Of Crime Generally speaking, there is a strong need for theory when shaping criminal justice policies and practices. As mentioned in this week s materials theories can assist with developing explanations and/or ideas about criminal activity, such as, the factors that caused the offender to commit the crime, how to prevent the offender and others from committing more crime, or the most effective punishments. Without the presence of theories all policies and practices put into place would lack verification of effectiveness and need (Blokar, 2015). In our readings, various theories on the effectiveness of punishment were either verified or unsupported at some point in time over the past three centuries. From my understanding of the reading Beccaria s belief that certainty is the most important piece of punishment, even when compared to severity , (Cullen, Agnew, Wilcox, 2014) counts as one of those verified factors when addressing punishment in our criminal justice system. ... While Cornish and Clarkes version of the rational choice theory brought to surface the effect situational factors had on rational choice that earlier rational choice theorist did not think address. This theory pointed out how these situational factors (emotional state, individual traits, easiness of crime or attitudes towards crime) influenced an individuals rational choice to participate or not participate in criminal behavior (Cullen, Agnew, Wilcox, 2014). The presence of certain situational factors could change the severity or type of punishment given to an offender.
