The Fashion Of Elie Saab ( Es )
Introduction
In a world which seems to be shrinking continuously due to the emergence of globalization,
individuals seek new ways to differentiate themselves from those in their societies either by music, art
and most of all fashion. Elie Saab(ES), a Lebanese fashion house established in Beirut has found a
way to cater to the many cravings of individuals by creating and selling luxury fashion to the elites of
the world.
Beirut born owner and chairman Elie Saab first picked up an interest in fashion at the tender age of
nine, making dresses for his sisters using his mother s tablecloths as fabric. In 2010, Saab s workforce
had grown from 10 employees in his first workshop in Beirut to about 150 working in different
locations such as Paris and London. ES was well known for its Haute Couture works which are
exclusive, one of a kind evening dresses and wedding gowns.
In a bid to grow the brand, Saab sought to diversify its portfolio by partnering with various ventures
which signified and embodied the luxury lifestyle on which it had built its brand upon. ES signed
partnership contracts with various companies for the construction of luxury Yachts, exclusive hotels
and luxury fragrances. Notwithstanding the company s many partnerships and ventures, ES s core
business was fashion which had been its bread and butter. ES began primarily with Haute Couture
which is a fancy name for specially made garments using high quality materials to suit the needs of
the customer, these dresses

The Impact Of Substance Abuse On Mental Health
This paper examines current research and literature based on the impact of substance abuse on mental
health. Mental health is defined as those conditions in a society leading to a situation where people in
their individual capacities, and in interaction with one another as members of groups are able to live
lives of quality in all contexts of their existence (Psychological Association of South Africa, 1989, p.
5).
A substance, otherwise known as a drug , alters mental states such as mood, perception or
consciousness when taken by a living organism (Fuhr, 1978). In the latest edition of the Diagnostic
and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM 5) substance abuse, also known as addiction, is
considered a disease (Griffin, 2015).
Substance use in South Africa has a long history (Meghdadpour, 2010). Researchers estimated that
there were over 3 million orphaned infants residing in South Africa and that these orphaned ... Show

Research in developing parts of South Africa such as Hospital hill has generally focused on the overall
health and well being of the citizens with the impact of substance abuse on mental health going
unnoticed.
Research on this topic would lead to a better understanding of how the abuse of substances is harmful
to mental health.
This study aims to provide a critical examination of existing literature and theoretical frameworks of
the cause and effects of substance abuse on the mental health of those residing in underprivileged
conditions. Through this study, the researcher will illustrate the nature and extent of the short and long
term consequences of substance abuse on mental functioning.
The aims of the study are as follows:
1. To make visible the problem of substance abuse.
2. To investigate causes of substance abuse.
3. To identify popular drugs of abuse in South

The Roles Of Television And Minorities In Television
Minorities in Television

Minority Relations

October 3, 2017
Over the years television has been known to be one of the major educating and socializing institution
in America. Television in today s society is able to play a powerful key through which individuals can
be informed, hold forums, and voice their opinion s. Television is also important because it offers us
glimpses into minority life and minority figures. When sociologists examine minorities in television
they document how minorities are portrayed and how those portrayals have changed over the years.
Through time, minorities in television have been able to make moderate gains whether they are in
front of or behind cameras. However, they continue to remain significantly underrepresented as
leading actors in films, as writers, and as TV show creators. Even though minorities are significantly
underrepresented in today s society the TV industry has been pushing to give an opportunity to many
minority groups in succeeding in the media. Several TV shows and commercials have succeeded in
the TV industry to try and change how minorities are underrepresented, however, there are also shows
that reinforce stereotypes and are prejudice towards minorities.
Grey s Anatomy is a television medical drama that has been running for a little over a decade. This
show is known to have one of the most diverse cast in the history of American television. Actors
include white, black,

Ethical Dilemm Moral Dilemma
Ethical dilemma(s) One ethical dilemma Anthony has encountered is helping the family understand
where their loved one is currently standing. Communicating life threatening news takes courage and
certain factors need to be taken into consideration. In the textbook, The Last Dance it is stressed that
physicians must consider the patient s personality, emotional constitution, and capacity for continued
function under stress. Communication is essential and how and when the life threatening news is
conveyed is an essential part of this process. Furthermore, DeSpelder and Strickland (2009) say that
how the diagnosis is communicated can influence a patient attitude toward the illness, response to
treatment, ability to cope.
Views about dying, death, and afterlife:
We are all going to die. This is something unavoidable and is part of human nature. Anything that has
been born will have to encounter death also. Anthony feels that death is fearsome, and often times
people avoid having such discussion. The truth of the matter is that death is an integral part of our
lives; we are surrounded by death. The topic of death is represented in mass media, television shows,
cartoons, magazines and the internet. We hear songs about death, and we even sign to their tunes as if
we were singing a farewell to our loved ones. So what is there to be afraid of? The subject of death has
been embedded in our culture. Anthony believes that death is an existential, emotional and physical
need of

Mythology In Fan Mythology
The definition of the term Myth is that it is defined by its content, context, and/or its function. Most
often when we think or hear the world myth we think of ancient Greek and Roman stories that tell us
tales of gods, heroes, and monsters; in the modern world it is also used to butter up advertisements,
and of course in fan fiction.
When you look at the concept of myth it has been important to the practice and analysis of fan work,
including fan fiction, on three levels: content, form, and theory. In terms of content, traditional tales
including mythologies provide us with characters, narratives, monsters, and story worlds for fans to
use in the generation of new fictions, as proven by the 2,173 stories in the Greek and Roman

Instead, mass culture is a method of cultural control, a key part of the workings of capitalist
domination.
However, there is a strong distinction between mass and popular culture that seems to be no longer
defensible to most media scholars and cultural critics, studies of fan creations such as fanfiction have
shown us just how entwined certain popular forms are with mass culture. Describing the texts of
popular culture as myths then becomes a way of claiming profitable culture as common culture and
the basis for a genuine fan culture that exists outside capitalist networks of production, distribution,
and consumption.
Of the 2,173 fics on AO3, around half remain within the Greek mythic historical story world: such fics
set are set within the Iliad world rather than the Odyssey, as well as fics about the Olympian gods such
as the popular Persephone/Hades, to the obscure, Helenus/Neoptolemus. The most common kind of
story that can be found here is a retelling of a myth that fleshes out the description of the classical
gods and heroes according to modern fictional and psychological norms. There are two main kinds of
modern retelling fanfictions on the AO3 site. The first being stories about how the ancient gods and
heroes have survived the modern world, and second, being crossover fics. In certain crossovers, the
characters from modern popular culture texts meet classical gods and heroes, as in liliaeth s The Pet

Malala Yousafzai Speech
In Mingora, Pakistan, Malala Yousafzai was born on July 12, 1997. In her first few years of life, her
hometown was a popular tourist spot that was known for its summer festivals. Unfortunately, the
Taliban, an extreme terrorist group, began to change the area by trying to take control. Malala gave an
inspirational speech in Peshawar, Pakistan after the Taliban attacked girls schools in Swat, Pakistan.
The title of that speech was called How dare the Taliban take away my basic right to education?
Malala spoke about her belief in her and every girl s right to education. She gave that talk in
September 2008. In January of 2009, Malala started a blog about living under the Taliban s threats and

She had suffered no major brain damage, however, she needed many surgeries including the repair of

she was able to go to school in Birmingham. Malala received an outburst of support during her
recovery from the shooting. Malala gave a speech at the United Nations in 2013, on her 16th birthday.
In October 2013, Malala s autobiography I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and
Was Shot by the Taliban was released. However, the Taliban still had not given up and still considered
the young activist a target. Malala remains a strong advocate for the power of education despite the
continued threats by the Taliban. The European Parliament showed recognition for Malala by
awarding her the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought. She was also nominated for a Nobel Peace
Prize the same year, but fell short of winning it. Malala was a nominee again in 2014. In October
2014, Malala, along with Indian children s rights activist Kailash Satyarthi, received the Nobel Peace
Prize. She (Malala) is the pride of Pakistan, she has made her countrymen proud. Her achievement is

The History of LG
LG was born as the Lak Hui Chemical Industrial Co. in 1947. It was founded by Mr. In hwoi Koo for
the manufacture of cosmetic creams. Finding that there were no independent manufacturers capable of
supplying bottle caps needed for packaging the cream, Lak Hui Chemical set up its own facilities and
utilized the excess capacity of its injection molding machines to manufacture small consumer products
based in plastic. This led to an entry into the manufacture of plastics components for
telecommunication and electrical companies presaging LG s entry into the telecommunications
business. In fortifying its access to feedstock for plastics manufacture, the company moved into oil
refining and later into shipping to transport crude oil. It was in 1958 that the Goldstar Co. (currently
LG Electronics) was first established to consolidate expansion in the fast growing area of plastics.

Midterm A
Functionalism is simply defined as the idea that the purpose of everything we do is to support our
society or ourselves. Many Anthropologists and sociologists are functionalists but for this essay I ll be
focusing more on two of the most famous people who support this idea; Bronislaw Malinowski and
Émile Durkheim. The two share differences and similarities in the approaches they take depending on
the groups they studied.
Durkheim, a French sociologist, who is one of the founders of sociology, claimed that meaningful
human practices can be understood in sociological, biological and psychological terms. Though, He
puts a clear understanding as to how sociological approach to studying human practices is a scientific
discipline unique from biology and psychology in its own way. Durkheim explains his idea of
sociological approach as it s own science in this methodology he calls a social fact. he defines this
term as any way of acting which is general over the whole of a given society whilst having an
existence of its own, independent of its individual manifestations. (Malinowski.59) To Durkheim,
Social facts are ways of understanding a society that are abstract but real, external to all individuals,
which exert coercive power over individuals beliefs by limiting the basic individuals forms of
consciousness and behavior, and are also inevitable meaning if you are a member of the society you

Motivational Interviewing Essay
Motivational interviewing is a practice wherein conveying acceptance of your client, you become an
aid in the process of change. Motivational interviewing fosters Carl Rogers optimistic and humanistic
theories; around ones competences for employing free choice and shifting through a course of self
actualization. The therapeutic relationship for both Motivational Interviewers and Rogerians is a
democratic partnership. The concept of Motivational Interviewing (MI) progressed from the
experience of treating problem drinkers. Motivational Interviewing was first described by William R.
Miller, Ph.D., in 1983. Afterwards, the essential concepts and methods were later particularized by
Miller and Stephen Rollnick, Ph.D., in 1991. This involved a more comprehensive description of the
clinical procedures of motivational interviewing. Motivational Interviewing is a directive, client
centered counseling style for eliciting behavior change by helping clients to explore and resolve
ambivalence (Miller Rollnick, 1991). Motivational Interviewing is goal directed and more focused
when compared with nondirective therapies. The central purpose is to examine and resolve
ambivalence, with an intentionally directive therapist to carry out this goal (Miller Rollnick, 1991).
There are a few key points characterized of Motivational Interviewing. Motivation to change is drawn
from the client, and not imposed from without; relying upon distinguishing and assembling the client s

The New York Yankees, It Can Destroy Your Future
The past should be left in the past, otherwise it can destroy your future. These are wonderful words
which we should all strive to live by. But letting go of a regrettable past is difficult for even the
strongest among us. For members of the 1960 New York Yankees, the World Series of that year is still
the most disappointing memory any of them can recall. And while vivid mental pictures of a bad hop
grounder hitting shortstop Tony Kubek in the throat, the Clemente chop, which landed between two
undecided fielders and the unforgettable sight of Yogi, his back to the camera, watching helplessly as
Bill Mazeroski s homerun sails over the left field wall, are all etched in the mind of everyone who
witnessed these mind boggling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many choices that were made have never been justified, leading to questions that have never been
answered. Nevertheless, much of what went wrong in that seven game series for the New Yorkers can
be chalked up to chance. However, in retrospect, it is quite evident that with sound decision making
and fundamental baseball strategy, many of the unfortunate things that took place could have been
avoided. The Yankees should have never been put in a such a position, their backs to the wall in a
seventh game. The team was far too talented for that to have happened. And it is with the same
staunch belief that I place much of the blame at the feet of manager Casey Stengel, not in a way to
attack his character, but to question his astuteness as a team leader at that point in his career. Of all of
the questionable choices he made in the 1960 Fall Classic, it was the use of his pitching staff for
which Stengel is still most heavily criticized. His most questionable moves relate to the pitchers he
selected as well as the timing and sequence in which he used them, the most glaring being his choice
of starting pitcher for game one. Picking the game one starter is one of the most crucial decisions a
World Series manager will make. The first game pitcher will not only set the tone for the remainder of
the series, but should the series reach a seventh game, the number one starter in the rotation will be
available to work games four and seven as well. And while Art Ditmar

China: Torn Apart Or Mended By The Rule Of Mao Zedong
There is controversy whether the rule of Mao Zedong was beneficial or destructive, though by looking
into the depths of history the answer is revealed. As Mao Zedong took control over China on October
1, 1949, he immediately installed many reformations to China s economy, culture, and government.
These reformations proved to be devastating towards the people of China. After decolonization Mao
Zedong s enforcement of communism and international isolation lead China into attempting
industrialization by imposing labor intensive methods, and preventing China from technologically
advancing.
During the beginning of the twentieth century China had become a republic after the rule of Sun ...

However, Chiang s decision to focus his military on the Communists turned out to be a poor choice
because, while the Chinese were occupied with their internal conflicts, the Japanese set up the puppet
state of Manchukuo in 1932 ( China ). The invasion of Japan was devastating for China; civilians were
murdered, raped, tortured, military groups were destroyed, and the government went bankrupt. The
Sino Japanese war finally ended when Tokyo surrendered to the Allies in 1945 at the end of World

The Mere Nature Of The Soliloquy By William Shakespeare
The mere nature of the soliloquy is to enter the thoughts of a specific character It is a simple idea. It
would make sense that Shakespeare employs this literary method to reveal something about Hamlet s
own internal struggle in any given soliloquy. Hamlet is an conflicted and self disparaging individual
who often finds himself toiling with his own ideas and movies frequently. But the first soliloquy is
used to reveal to the audience that Hamlet is furious at his mother and Claudius, even before he learns
his father was supposedly murdered by the new king. The fury toward Claudius and Gertrude alone is
enough to make Hamlet even contemplate suicide, Or that the Everlasting had not fix d/ His canon

By comparing corruption to a rotting plant, Shakespeare manages to insert a large, overarching theme
into a few sentences of a soliloquy.
While there is micro juxtaposition in the sentences and metaphors in the soliloquy, the first passionate
soliloquy provides a striking contrast to the artificial dialogue that Hamlet must exchange with
Claudius in court. The juxtaposition of tone emphasizes how rules and customs of the royal court that
foster corruption. Shakespeare also juxtaposes spiritual things and earthly things, O, that this is too too
sullied flesh would melt,/ Thaw and resolve itself into dew (10). Hamlet is disgusted by the earthly
flesh he has to live in and wishes to be something pure and spiritual like dew. The earthly things to
hamlet, like soil and weeds, are gruesome. To Hamlet, the world is corrupt and so are the people in it.
Shakespeare juxtaposes the earthly with the divine in order to show how Hamlet, while he wanting to
be pure, is trapped on earth by some obligation, such as a canon gainst self slaughter (10). The ban on
suicide is also a symbol for Hamlet s obligation to stay in the royal court until things are set right.
Allusion is also implemented to emphasize the corruption that is slowly taking over the Royal court.
Shakespeare has Hamlet compare his father, his mother, and his uncle all to different Greek and
Roman mythological figures. Hamlet firsts makes the comparison of

P1 General Communication Skills
General skills
When communicating in general it is important to be aware of a number of general skills and making
sure that you consider the needs of your audience when to best address their needs.
Cultural Differences You should be aware of cultural differences so that you do not offend your
audience. This means being aware of who you will be communicating with in advance and learning
about their cultural background. You will also need to be aware of your body language and personal
presentation as you want to make a good impression and show that you have taken any cultural
differences on board to make your audience feel at easy. For example, you wouldn t address a group of

Essay On Purchasing Parity Power
The purpose of this paper is to examine the key term of purchasing parity power (PPP). This key term
is used for several global business processes and decision making from the strategic to the operational
level of management. The current research is mathematically based with regard to the validity of the
variables used to calculate PPP and provides examples of ways to restructure the variables for certain
business processes. Ultimately, it is a term and algorithm in which global business leaders should be

In other words, the exchange rate is the equalizing factor that maintains product costs relatively
consistent across countries.
While there are myriad of PPP calculations, there are two general approaches, absolute and relative
(Hyrina Serletis, 2010). The absolute calculation relies on the nominal exchange rate and the relative
accounts for fluctuations like inflation (2010). In fact, the variables of the calculation create the
controversy, in that, scholars agree that there are additional non constant variables to consider and
many different perspectives to view the variables. Nevertheless, despite the controversy regarding how
PPP is calculated, it is used for analyzing and reporting on costs across countries by the International
Monetary Fund (IMF), the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and
by global business leaders to make decisions (Investopedia, 2016).

was to prove that the PPP calculation, and one in particular, enables the highest level of accuracy for
cost benchmarking for international businesses (Langston, 2016). He did this because current
benchmarking calculations use exchange rates to first get monetary units to U.S. dollar (USD), instead
of using PPP, which is a more comprehensive picture of location

Essay On African American Culture
African American culture is unique due to their miserable history of slavery that was generated within
United States and is related to the history of this nation. Most historians agree that African people
arrived in the colonial area, called New World, which is now the United States in the seventeenth
century. They came here with British and Dutch settlers through a system of involuntary servitude
(Chandler, 2017, p.160). In the early colonial period, African slaves officially enjoyed equal rights
with white indentured servants. However, within two or three generations, the situation drastically
changed. The slave trade developed; imported African slaves became popular in several colonies with
the principle that slaves were properties. Black people at that time were in a position from which they
could not escape and their children were born in slavery. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, they were undervalued and not respected as humans. This perspective was believed to be
normal and was considered natural for them. One of the clear examples of their suffering was
European colonists practice of re naming among African Americans. According to a journal by Zulu
(2017) African original names represented the identities of individuals and the culture history (p. 129).
In order to suppress and erase African identity, European colonists attacked, defiled, and provided
African slaves new names that reflected their subservience (Zulu, 2017, p. 129). The author explains
that naming is not only a personal identity issue, but a human rights issue as well. When this basic
right was violated, this means the black Americans were not considered human beings. In short, their
experience of enslavement was one of the remarkable parts of African American

According to the Margaret Kesselring s record of books, Hawthorne is known to have borrowed

this historical source and Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter, which is why many people argue that
Hawthorne deliberately manipulated historical facts. Dreyer on the other hand, believes that

One of the main disadvantages of removal of partial denture is that it has a higher tendency to
accumulate plaque which affects the periodontal health of the abutment teeth. There are factors that
determine the retention of plaque by the denture such as the material of denture, oral hygiene of the
patient, or susceptible areas of plaque accumulation. The adverse effects of accumulation of plaque is
tremendous and is capable of producing severe oral inflammations in the oral tissues as well as other

##s And Hyperboles In Funeral Blues By W. Wh Auden
In the poem Funeral Blues, W. H. Auden, a twenty century British author also known as Wystan Hugh
Auden, describes how people can go through denial during the loss of a person so dear to them. The
person of whom the speaker speaks of was an individual who was a large part of the speaker s life. His
life would seize to exist without that person. The tragic death of a beloved soul shows how emotions
of sorrow and grief dominate over any other feelings the speaker could have. He wants others to feel
his pain during this difficult time. If the speaker is not happy then other people should not be either.
W. H. Auden uses metaphors, imagery and hyperboles in the poem Funeral Blues to describe how he
griefs over the loss of an individual who is very dear to him.
In Funeral Blues, W. H. Auden uses metaphors to describe the importance of death of a beloved
person in his life. The speaker describes how painful death of a loved one can effect everyday life. He
was my North, my South, my East and West, represents how he gives him sense of direction and
guidance throughout his daily life (628). The speaker cannot imagine having to go any direction in life
without him. They travel near and far battling life s daily obstacles together and roaming without him
cannot be so. My Working week and my Sunday rest, / My noon, my midnight, my talk my song;
gives details on how he guides him during the week while working and on Sunday s when they are

Horatio s Betrayal In Hamlet
Betrayal is defined as treachery or disloyalty. In the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare this is what
ultimately led Hamlet and his loved ones to their deaths. From Claudius and Gertrude to Polonius,
Ophelia, and Laertes. By the end of the play basically everyone except for Horatio has betrayed
Hamlet in some way, even Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. The first act of betrayal is done by
Claudius. He killed his brother, the king, by poisoning him. Oh, my offence is rank. It smells to

This was down to a number of key Fig. 5 figurehead architects and designers. This burst of prosperity
had surprisingly emerged from a devastating fire, later known as The Great Chicago Fire (depicted in

early Tuesday morning of the 10 th October, 1871. The fire killed hundreds of people and destroyed
approximately 3.3 Fig. 6 square miles (9 km ) of Chicago. The fire was logged as one of the 2 largest
U.S. disasters of the 19th century, with the second star upon the Municipal flag of Chicago,
commemorating the tragedy. 7 Much like a sapling sprouting from the burned ashes of a forest fire,
the city of Chicago began to rebuild; creating a bigger and better city than before. A man called Joseph
Medill, truly captured the sense of the city in a Tribune editorial he wrote on the 11 October (fig. 7

years accumulations, the people of this once beautiful city have resolved that Chicago Shall Rise

Research Paper On Becoming A Garfield
I am an just a seventeen year old with big hopes and dreams. I want to be proactive and achieve them.
On the other hand I want to become Garfield and eat nothing but lasagna all day long. The latter
sounds very appeasing, like a brochure to the best place on earth. Want to escape being a seventeen
year old, or better yet a human? Well you can! Just become a Garfield! As much as I would want to do
that, I know that my life span would be reduced to a vegetable. After watching the South Park episode
when Kenny becomes a vegetable, the desire to become one suddenly became less appealing.
So where am I going with this essay? Do I have a direction? Well, I do. My talent lies in humor and
writing so technically talents should be plural. Ever

Renewable Sources of Energy
Biofuel is Fuel produced from renewable resources, especially plant biomass, vegetable oils, and
treated municipal and industrial wastes. Every time we drive in a vehicle we are using nonrenewable
resources that are bad for the environment. Using gasoline or diesel release chemicals called green
house gasses into the environment. Because of theses harmful chemicals people have started to use
biofuels. There are two types of biofuels, ethanol and biodiesel. Biofuel is Fuel produced from
renewable resources, especially plant biomass, vegetable oils, and treated municipal and industrial
wastes.
Ethanol
Ethanol is made from the sugar in grain and plants. It is mostly made from common crops like potato,
sugar cane, and corn. It is usually mixed with gasoline to reduce the amount of fossil fuels used by
vehicles.
The world production of ethanol tripled between 200 and 2007. In 2011 22.36 billion gallons were
produced the United States was the top producer with 52.6 liters made. This accounted for 62.2% of
global production followed by Brazil.
One gallon of ethanol is equivalent to 1.5 gallons of fuel. Most cars can run of blends of up to 10%
ethanol. High blends of ethanol have presented problems with vapor pressure needed for fuel to
evaporate and spark the ignition during cold weather around 52 degrees. We have started using E85 in
flex fuel vehicles because that is what they run the best on but in colder areas like Michigan E70 is
used during winter months and still

A Lululemon ambassador is described as someone who embodies the lululemon lifestyle and lives the

the ambassadors and Lululemon benefit from this program especially when their ambassadors are on a
national television show. None of the ambassadors are payed to wear Lululemon clothing, rather they
are supported with free product and anything else within reason they may request (Ritchie).
Since the craze of Lululemon had taken off many rival companies such as gap, nike, Nordstorm and
others have tried to capitalize on the yoga market. Rival companies have priced their clothing less then
Lululemon, however they have not been able to outperform or take loyal customers away from
Lululemon.
Lululemon has been rated as Top U.S Apparel Companies by Profit Margin and the Fastest Growing

  • 2. The Fashion Of Elie Saab ( Es ) Introduction In a world which seems to be shrinking continuously due to the emergence of globalization, individuals seek new ways to differentiate themselves from those in their societies either by music, art and most of all fashion. Elie Saab(ES), a Lebanese fashion house established in Beirut has found a way to cater to the many cravings of individuals by creating and selling luxury fashion to the elites of the world. Beirut born owner and chairman Elie Saab first picked up an interest in fashion at the tender age of nine, making dresses for his sisters using his mother s tablecloths as fabric. In 2010, Saab s workforce had grown from 10 employees in his first workshop in Beirut to about 150 working in different locations such as Paris and London. ES was well known for its Haute Couture works which are exclusive, one of a kind evening dresses and wedding gowns. In a bid to grow the brand, Saab sought to diversify its portfolio by partnering with various ventures which signified and embodied the luxury lifestyle on which it had built its brand upon. ES signed partnership contracts with various companies for the construction of luxury Yachts, exclusive hotels and luxury fragrances. Notwithstanding the company s many partnerships and ventures, ES s core business was fashion which had been its bread and butter. ES began primarily with Haute Couture which is a fancy name for specially made garments using high quality materials to suit the needs of the customer, these dresses ... • 3. The Impact Of Substance Abuse On Mental Health This paper examines current research and literature based on the impact of substance abuse on mental health. Mental health is defined as those conditions in a society leading to a situation where people in their individual capacities, and in interaction with one another as members of groups are able to live lives of quality in all contexts of their existence (Psychological Association of South Africa, 1989, p. 5). A substance, otherwise known as a drug , alters mental states such as mood, perception or consciousness when taken by a living organism (Fuhr, 1978). In the latest edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM 5) substance abuse, also known as addiction, is considered a disease (Griffin, 2015). Substance use in South Africa has a long history (Meghdadpour, 2010). Researchers estimated that there were over 3 million orphaned infants residing in South Africa and that these orphaned ... • 4. The Roles Of Television And Minorities In Television Minorities in Television Maria Lopez Minority Relations Eleonora Hicks October 3, 2017 Over the years television has been known to be one of the major educating and socializing institution in America. Television in today s society is able to play a powerful key through which individuals can be informed, hold forums, and voice their opinion s. Television is also important because it offers us glimpses into minority life and minority figures. When sociologists examine minorities in television they document how minorities are portrayed and how those portrayals have changed over the years. Through time, minorities in television have been able to make moderate gains whether they are in front of or behind cameras. However, they continue to remain significantly underrepresented as leading actors in films, as writers, and as TV show creators. Even though minorities are significantly underrepresented in today s society the TV industry has been pushing to give an opportunity to many minority groups in succeeding in the media. Several TV shows and commercials have succeeded in the TV industry to try and change how minorities are underrepresented, however, there are also shows that reinforce stereotypes and are prejudice towards minorities. Grey s Anatomy is a television medical drama that has been running for a little over a decade. This show is known to have one of the most diverse cast in the history of American television. • 5. Ethical Dilemm Moral Dilemma Ethical dilemma(s) One ethical dilemma Anthony has encountered is helping the family understand where their loved one is currently standing. Communicating life threatening news takes courage and certain factors need to be taken into consideration. In the textbook, The Last Dance it is stressed that physicians must consider the patient s personality, emotional constitution, and capacity for continued function under stress. Communication is essential and how and when the life threatening news is conveyed is an essential part of this process. Furthermore, DeSpelder and Strickland (2009) say that how the diagnosis is communicated can influence a patient attitude toward the illness, response to treatment, ability to cope. Views about dying, death, and afterlife: We are all going to die. This is something unavoidable and is part of human nature. Anything that has been born will have to encounter death also. Anthony feels that death is fearsome, and often times people avoid having such discussion. The truth of the matter is that death is an integral part of our lives; we are surrounded by death. The topic of death is represented in mass media, television shows, cartoons, magazines and the internet. We hear songs about death, and we even sign to their tunes as if we were singing a farewell to our loved ones. So what is there to be afraid of? The subject of death has been embedded in our culture. Anthony believes that death is an existential, emotional and physical need of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Mythology In Fan Mythology The definition of the term Myth is that it is defined by its content, context, and/or its function. Most often when we think or hear the world myth we think of ancient Greek and Roman stories that tell us tales of gods, heroes, and monsters; in the modern world it is also used to butter up advertisements, and of course in fan fiction. When you look at the concept of myth it has been important to the practice and analysis of fan work, including fan fiction, on three levels: content, form, and theory. In terms of content, traditional tales including mythologies provide us with characters, narratives, monsters, and story worlds for fans to use in the generation of new fictions, as proven by the 2,173 stories in the Greek and Roman Mythology ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Instead, mass culture is a method of cultural control, a key part of the workings of capitalist domination. However, there is a strong distinction between mass and popular culture that seems to be no longer defensible to most media scholars and cultural critics, studies of fan creations such as fanfiction have shown us just how entwined certain popular forms are with mass culture. Describing the texts of popular culture as myths then becomes a way of claiming profitable culture as common culture and the basis for a genuine fan culture that exists outside capitalist networks of production, distribution, and consumption. Of the 2,173 fics on AO3, around half remain within the Greek mythic historical story world: such fics set are set within the Iliad world rather than the Odyssey, as well as fics about the Olympian gods such as the popular Persephone/Hades, to the obscure, Helenus/Neoptolemus. The most common kind of story that can be found here is a retelling of a myth that fleshes out the description of the classical gods and heroes according to modern fictional and psychological norms. There are two main kinds of modern retelling fanfictions on the AO3 site. The first being stories about how the ancient gods and heroes have survived the modern world, and second, being crossover fics. In certain crossovers, the characters from modern popular culture texts meet classical gods and heroes, as in liliaeth s The Pet Whisperer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Finding that there were no independent manufacturers capable of supplying bottle caps needed for packaging the cream, Lak Hui Chemical set up its own facilities and utilized the excess capacity of its injection molding machines to manufacture small consumer products based in plastic. This led to an entry into the manufacture of plastics components for telecommunication and electrical companies presaging LG s entry into the telecommunications business. In fortifying its access to feedstock for plastics manufacture, the company moved into oil refining and later into shipping to transport crude oil. It was in 1958 that the Goldstar Co. Many Anthropologists and sociologists are functionalists but for this essay I ll be focusing more on two of the most famous people who support this idea; Bronislaw Malinowski and Émile Durkheim. The two share differences and similarities in the approaches they take depending on the groups they studied. Durkheim, a French sociologist, who is one of the founders of sociology, claimed that meaningful human practices can be understood in sociological, biological and psychological terms. Though, He puts a clear understanding as to how sociological approach to studying human practices is a scientific discipline unique from biology and psychology in its own way. Durkheim explains his idea of sociological approach as it s own science in this methodology he calls a social fact. he defines this term as any way of acting which is general over the whole of a given society whilst having an existence of its own, independent of its individual manifestations. (Malinowski.59) To Durkheim, Social facts are ways of understanding a society that are abstract but real, external to all individuals, which exert coercive power over individuals beliefs by limiting the basic individuals forms of consciousness and behavior, and are also inevitable meaning if you are a member of the society you can t ... The therapeutic relationship for both Motivational Interviewers and Rogerians is a democratic partnership. But letting go of a regrettable past is difficult for even the strongest among us. For members of the 1960 New York Yankees, the World Series of that year is still the most disappointing memory any of them can recall. And while vivid mental pictures of a bad hop grounder hitting shortstop Tony Kubek in the throat, the Clemente chop, which landed between two undecided fielders and the unforgettable sight of Yogi, his back to the camera, watching helplessly as Bill Mazeroski s homerun sails over the left field wall, are all etched in the mind of everyone who witnessed these mind boggling ... Nevertheless, much of what went wrong in that seven game series for the New Yorkers can be chalked up to chance. However, in retrospect, it is quite evident that with sound decision making and fundamental baseball strategy, many of the unfortunate things that took place could have been avoided. The Yankees should have never been put in a such a position, their backs to the wall in a seventh game. The team was far too talented for that to have happened. And it is with the same staunch belief that I place much of the blame at the feet of manager Casey Stengel, not in a way to attack his character, but to question his astuteness as a team leader at that point in his career. Of all of the questionable choices he made in the 1960 Fall Classic, it was the use of his pitching staff for which Stengel is still most heavily criticized. His most questionable moves relate to the pitchers he selected as well as the timing and sequence in which he used them, the most glaring being his choice of starting pitcher for game one. Picking the game one starter is one of the most crucial decisions a World Series manager will make. The first game pitcher will not only set the tone for the remainder of the series, but should the series reach a seventh game, the number one starter in the rotation will be available to work games four and seven as well. It would make sense that Shakespeare employs this literary method to reveal something about Hamlet s own internal struggle in any given soliloquy. Hamlet is an conflicted and self disparaging individual who often finds himself toiling with his own ideas and movies frequently. But the first soliloquy is used to reveal to the audience that Hamlet is furious at his mother and Claudius, even before he learns his father was supposedly murdered by the new king. While there is micro juxtaposition in the sentences and metaphors in the soliloquy, the first passionate soliloquy provides a striking contrast to the artificial dialogue that Hamlet must exchange with Claudius in court. The juxtaposition of tone emphasizes how rules and customs of the royal court that foster corruption. Shakespeare also juxtaposes spiritual things and earthly things, O, that this is too too sullied flesh would melt,/ Thaw and resolve itself into dew (10). Hamlet is disgusted by the earthly flesh he has to live in and wishes to be something pure and spiritual like dew. The earthly things to hamlet, like soil and weeds, are gruesome. To Hamlet, the world is corrupt and so are the people in it. Shakespeare juxtaposes the earthly with the divine in order to show how Hamlet, while he wanting to be pure, is trapped on earth by some obligation, such as a canon gainst self slaughter (10). The ban on suicide is also a symbol for Hamlet s obligation to stay in the royal court until things are set right. Most historians agree that African people arrived in the colonial area, called New World, which is now the United States in the seventeenth century. In the early colonial period, African slaves officially enjoyed equal rights with white indentured servants. However, within two or three generations, the situation drastically changed. Every time we drive in a vehicle we are using nonrenewable resources that are bad for the environment. Using gasoline or diesel release chemicals called green house gasses into the environment. Because of theses harmful chemicals people have started to use biofuels. There are two types of biofuels, ethanol and biodiesel. Biofuel is Fuel produced from renewable resources, especially plant biomass, vegetable oils, and treated municipal and industrial wastes. Ethanol Ethanol is made from the sugar in grain and plants. It is mostly made from common crops like potato, sugar cane, and corn. It is usually mixed with gasoline to reduce the amount of fossil fuels used by vehicles. The world production of ethanol tripled between 200 and 2007. In 2011 22.36 billion gallons were produced the United States was the top producer with 52.6 liters made. This accounted for 62.2% of global production followed by Brazil. One gallon of ethanol is equivalent to 1.5 gallons of fuel. Most cars can run of blends of up to 10% ethanol. High blends of ethanol have presented problems with vapor pressure needed for fuel to evaporate and spark the ignition during cold weather around 52 degrees. We have started using E85 in flex fuel vehicles because that is what they run the best on but in colder areas like Michigan E70 is used during winter months and still ... Another really important part of Lululemon s success has been that they have offered free yoga classes and use local ambassadors who embody the Lululemon lifestyle and who promote the brand. A blogger has described the ambassador program as: A Lululemon ambassador is described as someone who embodies the lululemon lifestyle and lives the culture. These people range from local yoga instructors to Olympic athletes. It s interesting to see how the ambassadors and Lululemon benefit from this program especially when their ambassadors are on a national television show. None of the ambassadors are payed to wear Lululemon clothing, rather they are supported with free product and anything else within reason they may request (Ritchie). Since the craze of Lululemon had taken off many rival companies such as gap, nike, Nordstorm and others have tried to capitalize on the yoga market. Rival companies have priced their clothing less then Lululemon, however they have not been able to outperform or take loyal customers away from Lululemon. Lululemon has been rated as Top U.S Apparel Companies by Profit Margin and the Fastest Growing Companies from 2008 to 2011 (Business and Company Resource). Lululemon has had one warehouse sale but does not have plans to for anymore in the near future. The company believes that too ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. King Island Lesson King s Island Taught Me a Lesson Kisaiah Wickers When your body tells you no, listen! It was two years ago at Kings Island and I was with my friends. We were walking to the biggest ride in Kings Island, the Banshee, which also goes upside down. When we got in line, a sign noted that it was a two hour wait from this point. So, only two of us wanted to wait, because this was the Banshee. While waiting in line, it was very hot and I started to get one of my migraines. Just then we were next in line, so we took our seats. Although four seats were together, we each had our own section that we were buckled in. By now, my head was really pounding, but it was too late to get off the roller coaster. After being ... The Specificity of Albumin Binding Experiment The specificity of albumin binding experiment was to determine the binding interactions that occur between serum albumin and three synthetic dyes with the use of electrophoretic procedure. Whole blood, or plasma. Clots upon standing and if the clot is removed, the remaining straw colored fluid is called serum. The major protein in serum is albumin which functions as a carrier molecule for the transport of certain small molecular weight compounds in blood. Molecules that bind to serum albumin are fatty acids, hormones and some synthetic dyes. In this experiment the synthetic dyes used are Bromophenol Blue, Ponceau S and Orange G. we observed that free dyes not bound to albumin migrate faster that albumin or dyes bound to albumin. This ... Fig1 shows on the right group one next to it, 1st half of our result on electrophroresis gel. The 2nd half for the gel is our experiment compared to Anderson group 6. The 1st layer in all 3 pictures is the bound dye, the 2nd layer is the free dye. Group 1, the gel picture and Andersons experiment are closely related. The binding did occur, in the 1st lane of group 1the dye was free therefore no binding occurred because no Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) was present in the mixture. While in lanes 2 to 4 binding did occur because there was BSA in the mixture, with the higest binding occurring in lane 4, this is because there was no buffer to interrupt the binding. (saturation). Group 6, which is the 2nd half of the gel picture, does not correspond with Anderson results, no visible binding occurred. This group had two different dyes and SDS included in the mixture also. In Andersons version although two different dyes were used, it didn t affect his results, it s the SDS that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
