Arthur Dimmesdale Adultery
In the eyes of the Puritans, Minister Arthur Dimmesdale could commit no evil, his sin of adultery
concealed underneath his clothing and onto his heart with his fleeting sanity. Dimmesdale effectively
locked up his sin within himself, successfully fooling almost every soul. It would be too simple and
hardly true to conclude Dimmesdale is cowardly, just avoiding death. Dimmesdale continues on his
regular life on the outside, cutting off most ties to Hester and Pearl. Absorbing himself God s work,
Minister Dimmesdale uses his sin to deliver powerful sermons. The sermons indulged Dimmesdale
while he openly, though vaguely, publicly spoke about his sin, relieving some torture of not being able
to confess. Regardless, the townspeople would soon after compliment him on ... Show more content

Dimmesdale yearns for nothing more than to confess his sin, yet he hid it from the world. He chose
instead to let his inner demon destroy him before they could destroy his town. If the town found out
their strongest foothold on their Puritan religion was a sinner, the townspeople s faith would fall apart
to leave the town s backbone broken. There is also a component of fear: fear of death, fear of losing
everything, fear of Governor Bellingham and Reverend John Wilson actively ignore the large
probability that Dimmesdale has committed adultery with Hester, resulting in Pearl; the good old boys
system protects Dimmesdale from the death penalty. [quote] Hester stays in Boston because she feels
responsible for Dimmesdale s suffering and sees right through his facade. Chillingworth devotes
himself to torturing Dimmesdale with the secret sin. [quote]. Pearl needs no physical evidence: when
she was a baby on the scaffold, her first time in contact with Dimmesdale [quote]. The more
Dimmesdale vigorously detaches his sin from his physical appearance, the more his emotions show

The Weaknesses Of The Judicial Branch Of Government In The...
The first form of Government in America was the Articles of Confederation, the Articles of
Confederation worked but had a few flaws which included no system of national courts and also
Congress lacked strong and steady leadership. The weakness were quite significant so the
Constitutional Convention was held to revise the Articles of Confederation but instead led to the
creation of the United States Constitution. The Federalist wanted a strong central government but the
Anti Federalists were scared that would be like Britain again so they opted for a small weak central
government; their roles in the Convention were to make The Articles of Confederation please both
parties and make compromises. The Constitutional Convention kept the Government from being
overpowered by creating Checks and Balances, The Executive branch was responsible for enforcing
the laws, Legislative creates the laws, and the Judicial Branch interprets the law. The Checks were
intended to keep one Branch of Government from being more powerful then another Branch. The
smaller and larger states compromised when creating laws by having the Senate and also the House of
Representatives, smaller states like the Senate because this means all states would have an equal
amount of reps but larger states preferred the House of Reps because the amount of reps was based on
population. I believe that in today s Government the Judicial Branch is the ... Show more content on

it is big the way it is broken into three branches it keeps from one person being overpowering and also

because they have big and powerful central government but then the Anti Federalists were happy
because there is no way it could become Tyrant form of

Amaranth Case
Amaranth Advisors: Burning Six Billion In Thirty Days Introduction: In September, 2006, a large
sized hedge fund named Amaranth Advisors LLC lost $4.942 billion in natural gas futures trading and
was forced to close their hedge fund. Although Amaranth Advisors was not exclusively an energy
trading fund, the energy portion of their portfolio had slowly grown to represent 80% of the
performance attribution of the fund. Their collapse was not entirely unforeseeable or unavoidable.
Amaranth had amassed very large positions on both the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX)
and the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) in natural gas futures, swaps, and options. The trades
consisted mainly of buying and selling natural gas futures contracts with a ... Show more content on

Amaranth s success in 2005 and early 2006: It was due to its energy (primarily natural gas) trades.
Amaranth s main energy trader was Brian Hunter, a 32 year old Canadian and the former head of
Deutsche Bank s natural gas trading desk. In September 2005, Amaranth made more than $1 billion
when Hurricanes Katrina and Rita hit the U.S Gulf Coast. These Hurricanes disrupted the supply of
natural gas, and gas prices soared to record highs, just as Hunter had predicted. The rise in natural gas
prices drove Amaranth s 15% return for 2005, as the rest of the portfolio performed poorly. Why
Natural Gas market was unique relative to other commodities: It is because of gaseous form of natural
gas made transportation difficult. Although natural gas could be liquefied and exported overseas, this
process was both expensive and potentially hazardous. Strategy used by the natural gas traders: One
common strategy is to bet on the price of futures for the winter contract months. Many factors can
influence the price of winter contracts, for e.g., a strong hurricane season that disrupts supplies just
before winter. Traders who believe either a cold winter or a strong hurricane season will occur will
take a long position in winter future contracts. The Collapse: In September 2006, things took a turn for
the worse for Amaranth. Hunter s natural gas bets began to backfire, and the fund quickly started to
lose money. By September 20,it was

Advantages And Limitations Of Behaviourism
Learning had been widely discussed among the researchers. It had become the subject matter that
interests psychologists, educationists, scientists and came up with a number of learning theories. There
are many different theories that attempt to describe the learning process. The theorists came out with
some methods and approaches to be applied in the language teaching in the classroom. Approaches
consist of specific principles in the language teaching and to apply these approaches, methods are
needed which include various procedures and techniques. In this coursework, I would discuss on two
theories, methods and approaches, two of their strength and limitations. In addition, I would further
discuss on the implementation of one of the theories in the English language classroom. 2.0 THEORY
OF BEHAVIOURISM The behaviourism theory had its origin in the early twentieth century. It was
introduced by one of the most prominent psychologists in that era, B.F. Skinner. There are several
psychologists such as Thorndike, Pavlov and Watson believed that by studying the animal s behavior,

American Indian Culture Influence
Contemporary American Indian art and literature both have immense cross cultural influence. They
take the old and the new to create something unique and beautiful that is distinctively American
Indian; it reflects hardships and happiness, growth and inhibitions. Contemporary American Indian art
has immense cross cultural influence. It consists of hints of traditional crafts, like weaving and
basketry, and contemporary art trends like readymades and inflatable sculptures. In paintings, it may
consist of a traditional American Indian woman languishing next to a life size balloon animal, or an
Everlast punching bag covered in ornate beads (Brooks). American Indians are constantly
experimenting with media and perspectives. They often merge the utilitarian artifacts of traditional

It is believed that bold colors and strokes give dimension and character. Every artist is different, but a
common theme is to show some sort of representation of American Indian culture. One artist, John

arrival of Europeans. Before they arrived there were only oral traditions. In the 19th century, Native
American literature was text based and written in English, this was a result from the English taught in
missionary schools that Native American children attended. The early literature was a combination of
common American literary genres, such as autobiographies and novels, and Native American

Sophocles Antigone Analysis
Sophocles was born 498 BC in Colonus near Athens, Greece. His father, Sophillus was a wealthy
weapons maker and a leading citizen. Both birth and wealth, then, set Sophocles apart as someone
likely to play an important role in Athenian society. When Sophocles was six years old, the Athenians
beat the Persians at Salamis. Sophocles did not fight but he saw his house and all of Athens, including
the Parthenon, burned by the Persians before the Athenians beat them. At 16 due to his youth, good
looks, and performing ability, he was picked to a paean (choral chant) about the victory of the Battle
of Salamis. The production involved singing, dancing, and playing the lyre. Like other Greek boys
from wealthy families, Sophocles studied poetry, music, dancing, and gymnastics subjects regarded as
the basis of a well rounded education for a citizen. His early schooling prepared him to serve as a
leader in all aspects of public life, including the military, foreign policy, and the arts. Sophocles wrote
about 120 plays. Sophocles soon became best known as a dramatist. In 468 B.C.E. his tetralogy, or set

When Irene Character Analysis
I believe that Claire was pushed out of the window at the end of the novel. This belief stems from the
buildup of resentment that Irene had felt toward Claire during the entirety of the story, but I thought
that in the final section this resentment began to go from simply not agreeing each other to Irene
feeling threatened by Claire.
Irene and Brian have what seems to be a marriage held together by children and when Irene begins to
suspect Claire is using her charms to win over Brian, Irene immediately starts to fear Brian leaving her
for Claire. This would rip apart the stability that Irene wants so desperately in her life and she cannot
allow that. We have watched Irene attempt to manipulate people throughout the story, especially with
Brian as exemplified by her not allowing Brian to leave his job for the sake of the family. When Irene
starts to imagine Claire taking away Brian, I think that it is not a stretch to think that Irene would do
whatever it takes to make sure that the situation could not possibly come up.
Looking past Irene s desire for stability, I believe that her continuous jealousy towards Claire would
serve as proof for Irene pushing Claire out of the window. Irene describes Claire ... Show more

Irene begins to imagine the possibility of Brian and Claire having an affair and begins to spin a web of
negative emotions in her head until she breaks the cup she was holding in frustration. This instance is
critical as it shows us that Irene can be pushed to rash and violent action when she thinks about Claire
taking her husband away from her. While the argument can be made that breaking a cup and pushing a
person are two separate actions with the later being harder to carry out, I think that Irene perpetually
overthinks things to the point where she blocks out the outside world whenever something stressful

new military leadership was also demanding more funding in exchange for continuous support to the

Trade Barriers From An Academic Standpoint
Trade Barriers

Dr. Walter Vanpoolen
April 23, 2015 Trade Barriers From an academic standpoint, economists overall believe that free trade
would benefit the economy more than instituting tariffs and non tariff trade barriers. However, the
reality is quite different. Politically, tariffs help to strike a balance between social welfare and the
politicians goals. One theory is that campaign contributions are needed for re election; and to achieve
these funds, politicians will weigh this need against welfare reducing protection for industry lobbyists
(Magee, 2011). The models would suggest that the tariffs should actually be much higher than they are
due to the low efficiency cost of tariffs compared to the substantial gains provided for the producers
(Magee, 2011). However, developed countries actually have very low tariffs. There are six possible
explanations for why developed countries have such low tariffs when the political theories behind why
we have tariffs at all would suggest they should be higher.
Six Reasons for Low Tariffs There are six main reasons for the disparity realized between theory and
reality. These explanations would suggest that politicians are just not responsive to the lobbying
efforts, the welfare costs of the implemented tariffs are higher than anticipated, the General Agreement
on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) successfully restrained trade barriers, free rider

The Treatment Of Prostate Cancer
Prostate cancer is the one of the most lethal disease in the United Sates. The pattern of disease

survival rate of men with this disease has remained relatively unchanged in over the decades. Since

Articles Of Confederation Vs US Constitution
The idea of state government came from the Articles of Confederation. The Articles of Confederation
were the first type of government the US had, and they were based on the state s powers. Soon, the
Framers of the US saw that the Articles of Confederation were not working, and each state was like it
s own country. The Framers met at the Constitutional Convention, and there were two sides as to how
the US Constitution should be written. The Federalists wanted a strong Central government, but the
Anti Federalists wanted a government that gave the power to the states. There was a compromise
made, and a central government was created, but also the states were given their own government.
There are many similarities between the two governments, but ... Show more content on

does. Although, It must be somewhat different, otherwise a compromise would have never been made
at the Constitutional Convention. Overall, this shows that the United States government gets all of its

Rationalism
Rationalism In Plato s Meno it begins with a debate between a fictional Socrates and Meno about
whether virtue can be taught or if it is acquired in another way. Socrates begins to prove his point
when he asks the slaves about the geometry question. When the slave answers the question, Socrates
suggests to Meno that they inquire this together. Meno argues with his Meno s Paradox that, one
logically cannot inquire productivity into what one does not already know (Meno 58). Then Socrates
continues to make Meno question his own beliefs when the slave recognizes the answer to geometrical
problem. Socrates proceeds to confirm with the concept that the sole is immortal and the slave was
recollecting knowledge that the soul already had. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Descartes goes through valid and well thought out arguments to come to find realizations. He
concentrates on knowledge rather than action. In the Third Meditation, Descartes continues to
introduce the idea that God is innate. Descartes introduces the role of God in the Third Meditation. He
suggests that you can use your intuition, but you can t use time or senses. Descartes uses the
teleological argument to show innate things. It consists of teleological intuition which has two caused
principles. One is that everything has a cause with at least as much reality as it has itself. The other
principle is that everything with objective reality has a cause with formal reality. Objective realities
are things like images and ideas, and formal reality is the kind of reality it has by virtue. There are
infinite and finite substances which are both types of formal reality. Finite substances cause properties,
but the properties depend on the finite substances for their existence, but infinite substances don t
depend on anything at all. There are certain standards the infinite and finite substances must have to
have an idea of an idea mind such as, God. Through this argument, Descartes is trying to introduce the
idea that God is innate. Descartes and Plato s arguments all did come to the conclusion that knowledge
was an innate. Both philosophers believe that you can come to realizations of the truth. Plato believes

Analysis Of Paradise Of The Blind
Concept of Love in Paradise of the Blind As one explores the novel, Paradise of the Blind, the author
Duong Thu Huong shows occurrence of the concept of love throughout her novel by manipulating
each character to show this through both their actions and emotions. Although the characters are

analytical meaning behind their perspectives of love. Thus, the concept of love is prevalent throughout

Continental Airlines began service in 1934 as Varney Speed Lines, named after one of its initial
owners, Walter T. Varney operating out of El Paso, Texas and extending through Las Vegas,
Albuquerque and Santa Fe, New Mexico to Pueblo, Colorado. The airline started with Lockheed

Most agreements permit airlines to fly from their home country to designated airports in the other
country: some also extend the freedom to provide continuing service to a third country, or to another
destination in the other country while carrying passengers from overseas. In the 1990s, open skies
agreements became more common. These agreements take many of these regulatory powers from state
governments and open up international routes to further competition. Open skies agreements have met
some criticism, particularly within the European Union, whose airlines would be at a comparative
disadvantage with the United States because of cabotage restrictions.

T. S. Eliot s Rhapsody On A Windy Night
Everyone knows that life is not always easy and that there a myraid of sad situations that occur daily.
In the poem Rhapsody On a Windy Night by T. S Eliot, the speaker is trying to escape the day to day
issues by taking an all night walk, only to realize that the troubles of the day roll over into different,
but equally as troubling problems. T. S Eliot uses multiple different comparison tequniques such as
similes. It is midnight and the speaker is walking down the street describing the darkness. Than they
start to notice the street lamps: Every street lamp that I pass/Beats like a fatalistic drum ( 8 9).
Although street lamps do not ususally have a sound to them the writer is setting the mood for the
poem by using a simile that has words that combined give off an ominous feeling. By using the word
fatalistic the poem starts to take on a much more dark and creepy mood. The speaker is trying to show
that this is not going to be a positive experience that they are having with the nighttime and the events
that they will encounter. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Can t Remember a Time Without I-Tunes Essay
It s difficult to remember a time without iTunes. To many people, especially to the younger
generation, iTunes has always been a part of people s lives. When it launched on April 28, 2003,
iTunes was set to forever change the world of music and technology (Griggs Leopold). When it first
started, songs were available for instant download for only ninety nine cents and albums for less than
ten dollars. ITunes changed the way music was distributed and marketed. With the release of iTunes,
music consumers could now download music digitally with the click of a button. Consumers no longer

With iTunes, consumers instantly get what they want, which is a perfect fit for our technological
culture today, but the emotional experience of buying music has been shattered.
Because of iTunes, consumers have become more private listeners. Every song and album sits directly
in front of each consumer. Listeners buy the songs they personally want and place them on their own
portable music players. They listen to the songs by themselves as a private experience (Griggs
Leopold). Consumers do still share music, but do not engage in the social experience that existed
before iTunes and digital music. Today, listeners share music by sending song files to each other or
posting music on social media sites completely taking the shared and social aspect out of music. The
shift in behavior from enjoying music as a social experience to listening to music as a personal
experience has changed culture and society. Today s world is all about the individual. People want
things for themselves and they want them now. ITunes helped in changing culture and society to be
this way by making songs and albums available instantly to each person. With iTunes, people can get
the music they want instantly and are encouraged to listen to music as a more private experience.
In the time of records and even CD s, there was no way to sell or buy single songs. ITunes
transformed music by marketing single songs instead of full albums.

Author Note This project was prepared for PAD 6934 Collaborative Governance, taught by Professor
Robin Ersing.
Abstract
In recent times, public officials, community groups and activists have expressed their concern over the
growth of violence perpetrated by youth gangs. On their own, local governments are often restricted
not only by budgetary constraints, but operating knowledge. There is evidence that when public
officials and community groups are engaged, empowered and enlightened in a collaborative effort,
change happens. When both the public and private sectors willingly cooperate together, deterrence of
gang violence can be achieved. This paper delves into specific government programs that studies and
provides information on gang violence. This information brings forward specific limitations and
recommendations that a continued collaborative effort can deter youth gang violence.
Issue and Goal
When addressing public safety issues, one might assume that the most obvious approach encompasses
an elementary and uncomplicated strategy involving strictly law enforcement practitioners. A
seemingly straightforward approach however is in actuality nonexistent. While allocating additional
resources (like personnel and physical security assets)

The Event I Decided At Attend
The event I chose to attend would be the S.M.A.R.T (Students of Color Mentoring, Aiding, Retaining,

classes reflecting on privilege and diversity I wanted to take this chance and learn more about the
subject beyond class. This was a little outside of my comfort zone because S.M.A.R.T only consist of
people of color, and even though I have a good deal of Native American in me I know that I am seen
as a White Caucasian. Before attending this event I can easily say I was a bit timid to attend knowing
that this would be a completely new experience for me. There is always a hush tone when dealing with
diversity and racial matters, and I was afraid that I would be seen as someone who does not care about
today s society and its racial discrimination. There is always that line of being color blind like we
spoke about in class and the line of almost teaching about diversity as if we do face it the same even
though we have not gone through these hard ships. I did not want to ignore their hardships and yet, I
did not want to come off as if I understand their hardships. When I first walked into the event it was
actually like a breath of fresh air. There were people laughing and screaming and running. I wanted to
join immediately. The fame was simple each person would receive a name tag at the point of entry and

Television s Impact On Television
One part of television that has always been a constant in a lot of programs is family. More particular,
the family sitcom and family dramas have been around for years and are still around today. Family
television shows are great programs for everyone due to the fact of being very family oriented.
However, the way families were portrayed when television first started out has changed drastically
with how some families are portrayed now. The evolution of the way families are viewed on screen
and off screen can be portrayed throughout the years on television. One television show that aired
from 1951 1957 was the series I Love Luc. This series was about a husband and a wife and their lives
together. They were a typical family in the 50s. Lucy stayed at home being a housewife at first while
Ricky would go out to work (Smith). The series even showed them sleeping in separate beds at that
time because we as the audience weren t allowed to see a couple sleep in the same bed. Later in the
series, Lucy became pregnant which wasn t a very common thing to show on television, especially at
that time (Garrison).
Typical families shown on television in the 1950s were a mother, father, and their children. One show
that started to break the mold was My Three Sons which premiered in 1960 and aired until 1972. My
Three Sons was about a widowed father raising his three sons on his own with the help of the kids
grandfather (Taflinger). In a matter of only ten years the family sitcom had

The Reasons Of Non Compliance

Due to the fact, the board dismissed Steven Sewell from CEO because his characteristics are not
suitable with the characteristics of new board. This reason is very subjective and unreasonable. This
paper would not examine the unreasonable reason from the board of FDC as above, but will observe
the fact that the removal of a director by the board is not the first time happened. There are some
previous cases which are similar to the FDC case in which directors were dismissed by the board, such
as in the case of Allied Mining Processing Ltd v Boldbow Pty Ltd ( Allied v Boldbow ), Central
Exchange Ltd v Rivkin Financial Services Ltd ( Central v Rivkin ), and Scottish Colonial Ltd v
Australian Power Gas Co Ltd ( Scottish v Australian Power ). In those three cases, the decision by the
judges is considerably different. In Allied v Boldbow and Central v Rivkin, the judges state that
Section 203D does not replace any other power of removal possessed by the company. Therefore, a
company could regulate in their constitution to dismiss a director without the need for a vote of
shareholders (in defined circumstances). Conversely, in Scottish v Australian Power, the judges
emphasise that Section 203D is mandatory, and therefore, the process of removal a director must
follow Section 203D. Due to those cases, it is clear that there are pro and contra about the dismissal of
a director as stipulated in the Section 203D. One side argues that

Synthesis Essay On The Melting Pot
The United States has a motto, e pluribus unum, that suggests that in America, embracing diversity
creates unity. Long ago, during the 1900s, assimilation was considered to be crucial in order for a
naturalization process to occur. Immigrants were forced to assimilate and adopt to the American
culture, in which they had never been introduced to before. Over time, things evolved and changed to
the point where people began to assimilate to a certain point, but still have their cultural traditions,
giving America a nickname known as the Melting Pot. America being known as The Melting Pot,
defends the claim that in today s society, The United States of America is moving toward a new
standard in which diversity and individuality are encouraged more than uniformity and conformity.
Before a naturalization ceremony occurs, the United States citizens still have their cultural ideas and
languages being spoken along with them. In Source 1, it s a picture of citizens all waving American

White Collar vs Blue Collar
Imagine there is a society, and in this society there are only two households, one of them is a white
collar family, the other is a blue collar or working class family. To keep it simple, white collar workers
are highly skilled and usually work in an office setting, while blue collar workers perform more labor
based jobs and get their hands dirty. Now you may ask, what do these two groups have to do with each
other? Well, their differences are what bring them together, and neither group would be able to operate
without the other. Personally, I grew up and still live in a white collar family and this alone has shaped
my household environment. I would also imagine growing up in the other class would have an impact
on your household environment as well. Although these two households are quite different from each
other, they still impact one another and society today wouldn t be the same without either of them. If
someone were to talk about a home , there could be a number of things that could come to mind.
When I personally think of home I think of a place of peace and acceptance that you share with the
ones you love. No matter what your definition of home is, everyone grows up in a different home
environment. I first lived in Farmington, Minnesota but eventually moved to Prescott, Wisconsin in
fourth grade. One of the things that I think has effected my very own home environment is the fact
that my dad has a white collar job. My dad is a certified public accountant and

Alexander The Great Of The Greatest Military Geniuses
Alexander the Great
I am not afraid of an army of lions led by a sheep; I am afraid of an army of sheep led by a lion
Alexander III of Macedon,
Born into a rich family, Alexander III of Macedon (Greek: Αλέξανδρος Γ ο Μακεδών) or more
commonly known as Alexander the Great ( Greek: Ἀλέξανδρος ὁ Μέγας) was destined to be a king.
Alexander the Great was also considered one of the greatest military geniuses in history. He was the
inspiration for many great leaders and warriors in later generations of many different cultures.
Hannibal Barca once ranked Alexander as the greatest general in all of the world . Gnaeus Pompeius
Magnus, Napoléon Bonaparte, and Julius Caesar are just several of the many that were inspired. Even
Julius Caesar once cried and wept when he saw a statue of Alexander because he had never achieved
as much as Alexander at the same age.
Alexander III of Macedon was born on July 356 BC in Pella Greece into the Argead Dynasty. Even
before he was born, several people predicted that he would be very successful and would be invincible
when he grew to be a young adult. Below is a translation from Plutarch s original book about
Alexander that was written in 75 A.C.E.:
It is agreed on by all hands, that on the father s side, Alexander descended from Hercules by Caranus,

Mortality In Virginia Woolf s The Death Of The Moth
Mortality and the Moth Death is unwelcome news for all human beings, but at the same time, it is an
unavoidable incident that everyone should accept. About this statement, some people might argue that
the death is a part of people s life, while people cannot avoid it. In The Death of the Moth , Virginia
Woolf, the writer of the essay, claims that people should be aware of mortality and accept the death
with a deferential attitude through the observation of the little moth s death throes. The key concepts
of the essay release as the writer illustrates her attitudes that change chronologically as she
comprehends the moth s fierce fight with death. By introducing the essay with a brief but detailed
description of a pleasant morning, mid September (125), she leads the readers to get the background
idea of the moth s upcoming fate. Initially, Woolf s feeling towards the moth was pity and pathetic.
The sentence, ... his zest in enjoying his meager opportunities to the full, pathetic. (125), describes
how the author perceives a moth as a trivial, minor creature. However, after she encounters and
apprehends the moth s furious fights against death, her feeling shifts toward admiration and respect. ...
This gigantic effort on the part of an insignificant little moth, against a power of such magnitude, to
retain what no on else valued or desired to keep, moved one strangely (127). Eventually, the essay
concludes with author s claim on death s strangeness: the true nature of life and death and the
motivational attitude towards the death. Hence, in this paper, I will explore how Woolf expresses her
appreciation towards the moth and the death, and examine the definitions of the life and the death
through the relationship between the moth and Woolf. Throughout The Death of the Moth, the main
theme is derived from the observation and recognition. By observing the moth s little movement to
revive, Woolf recognizes the connection between life and death, and the receptive attitude towards the
death. We usually do not really care or learn a lesson from a moth s behavior. We usually think a moth
is a little, insignificant creature. Same as readers, Woolf initially dismisses and devalues the moth and
his motions.

improve. I chose my morning routine before work. My goal is to get out of the house by 7:38am
Monday Friday in order to catch my bus for work at 7:41am. I have trouble keeping track of time,
usually missing the bus about one time every two weeks. I have discovered through the flowchart in
week one, that my entire process has serious flaws. All of the bottlenecks were identified and
improved upon as necessary. After collecting data over the past four weeks, I see changes in the
process, using time as the metric. This paper will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The final table calculates the upper and lower control limits for the entire sample. Since I wake up
every day at 6:30am and must leave the house by 7:40am, I have 70 minutes total to complete all of
my tasks in the morning. According to my calculations on the final table, I need to leave the house
anywhere between 7:34am and 7:39am. Doing so means that I have made my bus and my process has
been a success for the day.
Seasonal Factors Seasonal factors are defined as the amount of correction needed in a time series to
adjust for the season of the year (Chase, Jacobs, Aquilano, 2006, Chapter 13). The word seasonal does
not always mean weather. Seasonal in business terms is usually classified as an activity of some sort.
In my situation, I don t have any seasonal factors that can affect my morning routine. My husband has
already left the house and I am alone in a stable environment (my home).
Confidence Intervals Confidence intervals allow us to pinpoint data to a degree of confidence. The
intervals are used to estimate the reliability of an estimate. Usually, the confidence levels that are
calculated are 90%, 95%, and 99%. The confidence intervals for my particular situation are as follows:
|Confidence Intervals |Lower Confidence Interval (mins.) |Upper Confidence Interval (mins.) |

A Brief Look at Climate Change
The global climate system is complex and its response to future anthropogenic greenhouse gases and
to climate change adaptation, is often poorly understood. Climate change is an area where modeling in
the framework of complex adaptive systems can improve our knowledge both with respect to the
internal structure and adaptive mechanisms of climate and our capacity for designing efficient climate
adaptation policies. Modeling of these systems includes a dynamic system consisting of transition
equations describing the evolution of state variables characterizing the natural system, such as CO2
concentrations in the upper and lower atmosphere and in the oceans, and state variables characterizing
the economic systems, such as physical capital and knowledge. The complex adaptive character of the
system implies that the dynamic system will be nonlinear and nonconvex, will allow for nonlinear
feedbacks and multiple basins of attraction, will evolve both in the temporal and spatial dimension,
and will be influenced by forward looking optimizing economic agents (Xepapadeas, 2010).
Moreover, any rational policy choice must consider the uncertainty about the magnitude and timing of
climate change s impact on economic productivity (Cai et al., 2013).
The majority of the literature, including the recent U.S. Government Interagency Working Group on
the Social Cost of Carbon (IWG, 2013) does not model the stochastic nature of the climate and
economic systems. Recent work, such as that of Cai

Respect For Authority In The Jungle Book
Respect for authority is a central theme in the Jungle Book and the guiding principle in this law
reinforces that elders are to be respected and obeyed. Akela was the ultimate authority in the jungle
and respect for him was of the utmost importance. In humans this has similar meaning, though not as
highly looked upon as in the jungle kingdom. Some humans honor those who are wiser and older, but
it is not law to do so and many do not respect elders. Jungle law is about obedience and respect, it is
clearly written in the law. Human law is complicated and complex and within it are many more
smaller laws that are less about the greater good and more about the individual person. Baloo teaches
Mowgli the laws and the language of the jungle and respect is a large part of that. A child could apply
this law by simply listening and obeying his/her parents. Just as Mowgli was taught, children must be
taught how to behave. Saying please or thank you is an example of respect that can be learned early.
Adults can apply this by taking care of an elderly parent who is having medical issues and needs
assistance. An adult child who ensured their elderly parent has their needs met and are advocated for is
an example of how this might be applies. I agree with this principle and I think it is one that used to be
practiced more. In some countries, it is law that adult children take care of their parents, but that is not
the case in the United States. I have heard stories of elderly people

Return To Port Charles
The rumors have been brewing for a while, and it has now been confirmed that Helena Cassadine is
still alive and returning to General Hospital. Today the show went to their Facebook page and shared
the details that Helena is coming back. This is after it was announced a while back that she was dead,
but you know that nobody is ever really dead on a soap opera. Helena left several things to people in
Port Charles, and it really did seem that she was finally dead. Helena is seen in a new preview for
General Hospital, and all that she says in the preview is You know, Port Charles is a very mysterious
place. You never know who s going to come on.
The preview doesn t confirm very much just that Helena Cassadine is coming back to Port Charles
once again. Celeb Dirty Laundry did have a few more details about her return. Everyone knows that
Jason Morgan was headed to Cassadine Island to try and figure out why his son Jake was afraid of
him. He knows that he was the scarecrow, but not exactly what Jake saw him do or how bad it really
was for him while there. Of course, going to Cassadine Island during May sweeps on General Hospital
is going to be more than just a simple trip. It sounds like Helena will be back for the big Nurse s Ball,
which is the perfect time for the drama to heat up in Port Charles. Spencer Cassadine is also supposed
to be in town for the ball. Fans are excited to see the little boy return but hope that he is safe with
Helena in town. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The idea of these two going head to head is going to be an epic showdown for sure. This will be
everyone against Helena because it is going to be really hard for her to find anyone on her side.
Helena does love her grandchildren, so that is the one good thing she has going for her. Maybe she
will at least protect them if she can do

Matthew And John Similarities
In the gospels Matthew and John, written by Matthew and John, there are two difference and 1
similarity in this two gospels. The difference and similarity of this gospels are important to distinguish
between the gospels. Matthew starts his gospel by tracing Jesus s ancestors back to Abraham and Jesus
s conception. Then Matthew goes on to describe Jesus s birth. Jesus was born in the city of Bethlehem
where they were visited by three wise men bearing gifts. Herod the Great was the king and he heard
that there was a baby that was named Jesus and he was the king of the Jews. Herod ordered to kill all
the children in Bethlehem, but after the king s death Jesus and his family went and settled in a town in
Galilee called Nazareth. Years passes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the forty days and nights Jesus started to preach and teach to people. The first follows of Jesus
were Peter, Andrew, James, and John. Jesus biggest teaching was at the sermon at the mount. When
Jesus traveled though Galilee he performed miracles and attracted crowds. Then Jesus appoint twelve
disciples. Has Jesus made his way through Galilee, he stopped by his hometown Nazareth. While he
was in Nazareth he multiplied breed and fish to feed many people and walking on water. After he
stopped in Nazareth he went to Jerusalem. Crowds awaited him at Jerusalem. Jesus and his disciples
were together at the last supper when Jesus said that Judas would betray him. While Jesus was leaving
a garden he was stopped by a mob of people and roman soldiers and was arrested. After Jesus was
arrested he was taken to a Jewish court and was convicted of blasphemy. The governor of Rome was
the final verdict, then he looked to the crowds for the verdict. The crowds said to crucify him, so Jesus
was crucified. Then three days after Jesus died he resurrected. There are two differences and there is
one similarity in this two gospels. The two differences are the materials found in Matthew by not in
John and the length of Jesus s public ministry. The one

macroeconomic factors that influence the future development of the business 50MINUTES. (2015, pp.

legal and environmental. Political factors Makos (2015) states political factors are mainly based on the
country s current political situation. The types of political factors that affect Sainsbury s are,
government policies, taxes laws and tariff, stability of government along with others. In relation to the
environmental factor, this regulation was put forward due to the amount of plastic bags handed out by

Arthur Dimmesdale Adultery In the eyes of the Puritans, Minister Arthur Dimmesdale could commit no evil, his sin of adultery concealed underneath his clothing and onto his heart with his fleeting sanity. Dimmesdale effectively locked up his sin within himself, successfully fooling almost every soul. It would be too simple and hardly true to conclude Dimmesdale is cowardly, just avoiding death. Dimmesdale continues on his regular life on the outside, cutting off most ties to Hester and Pearl. Absorbing himself God s work, Minister Dimmesdale uses his sin to deliver powerful sermons. The sermons indulged Dimmesdale while he openly, though vaguely, publicly spoke about his sin, relieving some torture of not being able to confess. He chose instead to let his inner demon destroy him before they could destroy his town. If the town found out their strongest foothold on their Puritan religion was a sinner, the townspeople s faith would fall apart to leave the town s backbone broken. There is also a component of fear: fear of death, fear of losing everything, fear of Governor Bellingham and Reverend John Wilson actively ignore the large probability that Dimmesdale has committed adultery with Hester, resulting in Pearl; the good old boys system protects Dimmesdale from the death penalty. The first form of Government in America was the Articles of Confederation, the Articles of Confederation worked but had a few flaws which included no system of national courts and also Congress lacked strong and steady leadership. The weakness were quite significant so the Constitutional Convention was held to revise the Articles of Confederation but instead led to the creation of the United States Constitution. The Federalist wanted a strong central government but the Anti Federalists were scared that would be like Britain again so they opted for a small weak central government; their roles in the Convention were to make The Articles of Confederation please both parties and make compromises. The Constitutional Convention kept the Government from being overpowered by creating Checks and Balances, The Executive branch was responsible for enforcing the laws, Legislative creates the laws, and the Judicial Branch interprets the law. The Checks were intended to keep one Branch of Government from being more powerful then another Branch. The smaller and larger states compromised when creating laws by having the Senate and also the House of Representatives, smaller states like the Senate because this means all states would have an equal amount of reps but larger states preferred the House of Reps because the amount of reps was based on population. • 5. Amaranth Case Amaranth Advisors: Burning Six Billion In Thirty Days Introduction: In September, 2006, a large sized hedge fund named Amaranth Advisors LLC lost $4.942 billion in natural gas futures trading and was forced to close their hedge fund. Although Amaranth Advisors was not exclusively an energy trading fund, the energy portion of their portfolio had slowly grown to represent 80% of the performance attribution of the fund. Their collapse was not entirely unforeseeable or unavoidable. Amaranth had amassed very large positions on both the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) and the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) in natural gas futures, swaps, and options. The trades consisted mainly of buying and selling natural gas futures contracts with a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Amaranth s success in 2005 and early 2006: It was due to its energy (primarily natural gas) trades. Amaranth s main energy trader was Brian Hunter, a 32 year old Canadian and the former head of Deutsche Bank s natural gas trading desk. In September 2005, Amaranth made more than $1 billion when Hurricanes Katrina and Rita hit the U.S Gulf Coast. These Hurricanes disrupted the supply of natural gas, and gas prices soared to record highs, just as Hunter had predicted. The rise in natural gas prices drove Amaranth s 15% return for 2005, as the rest of the portfolio performed poorly. Why Natural Gas market was unique relative to other commodities: It is because of gaseous form of natural gas made transportation difficult. Although natural gas could be liquefied and exported overseas, this process was both expensive and potentially hazardous. Strategy used by the natural gas traders: One common strategy is to bet on the price of futures for the winter contract months. Many factors can influence the price of winter contracts, for e.g., a strong hurricane season that disrupts supplies just before winter. Traders who believe either a cold winter or a strong hurricane season will occur will take a long position in winter future contracts. The Collapse: In September 2006, things took a turn for the worse for Amaranth. Hunter s natural gas bets began to backfire, and the fund quickly started to lose money. By September 20,it was ... • 6. Advantages And Limitations Of Behaviourism Learning had been widely discussed among the researchers. It had become the subject matter that interests psychologists, educationists, scientists and came up with a number of learning theories. There are many different theories that attempt to describe the learning process. The theorists came out with some methods and approaches to be applied in the language teaching in the classroom. Approaches consist of specific principles in the language teaching and to apply these approaches, methods are needed which include various procedures and techniques. In this coursework, I would discuss on two theories, methods and approaches, two of their strength and limitations. In addition, I would further discuss on the implementation of one of the theories in the English language classroom. 2.0 THEORY OF BEHAVIOURISM The behaviourism theory had its origin in the early twentieth century. Both birth and wealth, then, set Sophocles apart as someone likely to play an important role in Athenian society. When Sophocles was six years old, the Athenians beat the Persians at Salamis. • 14. When Irene Character Analysis I believe that Claire was pushed out of the window at the end of the novel. This belief stems from the buildup of resentment that Irene had felt toward Claire during the entirety of the story, but I thought that in the final section this resentment began to go from simply not agreeing each other to Irene feeling threatened by Claire. Irene and Brian have what seems to be a marriage held together by children and when Irene begins to suspect Claire is using her charms to win over Brian, Irene immediately starts to fear Brian leaving her for Claire. This would rip apart the stability that Irene wants so desperately in her life and she cannot allow that. We have watched Irene attempt to manipulate people throughout the story, especially with Brian as exemplified by her not allowing Brian to leave his job for the sake of the family. When Irene starts to imagine Claire taking away Brian, I think that it is not a stretch to think that Irene would do whatever it takes to make sure that the situation could not possibly come up. Trade Barriers From An Academic Standpoint Trade Barriers Allisa Bell ECN500 Global Economics Colorado State University Global Campus Dr. Walter Vanpoolen April 23, 2015 Trade Barriers From an academic standpoint, economists overall believe that free trade would benefit the economy more than instituting tariffs and non tariff trade barriers. However, the reality is quite different. Politically, tariffs help to strike a balance between social welfare and the politicians goals. One theory is that campaign contributions are needed for re election; and to achieve these funds, politicians will weigh this need against welfare reducing protection for industry lobbyists (Magee, 2011). The models would suggest that the tariffs should actually be much higher than they are due to the low efficiency cost of tariffs compared to the substantial gains provided for the producers (Magee, 2011). However, developed countries actually have very low tariffs. There are six possible explanations for why developed countries have such low tariffs when the political theories behind why we have tariffs at all would suggest they should be higher. Six Reasons for Low Tariffs There are six main reasons for the disparity realized between theory and reality. Although street lamps do not ususally have a sound to them the writer is setting the mood for the poem by using a simile that has words that combined give off an ominous feeling. By using the word fatalistic the poem starts to take on a much more dark and creepy mood. The speaker is trying to show that this is not going to be a positive experience that they are having with the nighttime and the events that they will encounter. ... • 30. Can t Remember a Time Without I-Tunes Essay It s difficult to remember a time without iTunes. To many people, especially to the younger generation, iTunes has always been a part of people s lives. When it launched on April 28, 2003, iTunes was set to forever change the world of music and technology (Griggs Leopold). When it first started, songs were available for instant download for only ninety nine cents and albums for less than ten dollars. ITunes changed the way music was distributed and marketed. With the release of iTunes, music consumers could now download music digitally with the click of a button. Consumers no longer had to leave the comfort of their home to buy or listen to a song or an album. Before iTunes and digital music, consumers had to buy a complete album or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With iTunes, consumers instantly get what they want, which is a perfect fit for our technological culture today, but the emotional experience of buying music has been shattered. Because of iTunes, consumers have become more private listeners. Every song and album sits directly in front of each consumer. Listeners buy the songs they personally want and place them on their own portable music players. They listen to the songs by themselves as a private experience (Griggs Leopold). Consumers do still share music, but do not engage in the social experience that existed before iTunes and digital music. Today, listeners share music by sending song files to each other or posting music on social media sites completely taking the shared and social aspect out of music. The shift in behavior from enjoying music as a social experience to listening to music as a personal experience has changed culture and society. Today s world is all about the individual. People want things for themselves and they want them now. ITunes helped in changing culture and society to be this way by making songs and albums available instantly to each person. With iTunes, people can get the music they want instantly and are encouraged to listen to music as a more private experience. Collaboration For Deter Youth Gang Violence Collaboration to Deter Youth Gang Violence Collaborative Project Final Report Douglas Immler, Tinamarie Knowlton, Jon Mast University of South Florida School of Public Affairs Author Note This project was prepared for PAD 6934 Collaborative Governance, taught by Professor Robin Ersing. Abstract In recent times, public officials, community groups and activists have expressed their concern over the growth of violence perpetrated by youth gangs. On their own, local governments are often restricted not only by budgetary constraints, but operating knowledge. There is evidence that when public officials and community groups are engaged, empowered and enlightened in a collaborative effort, change happens. When both the public and private sectors willingly cooperate together, deterrence of gang violence can be achieved. This paper delves into specific government programs that studies and provides information on gang violence. This information brings forward specific limitations and recommendations that a continued collaborative effort can deter youth gang violence. Issue and Goal When addressing public safety issues, one might assume that the most obvious approach encompasses an elementary and uncomplicated strategy involving strictly law enforcement practitioners. A seemingly straightforward approach however is in actuality nonexistent. While allocating additional resources (like personnel and physical security assets) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This was a little outside of my comfort zone because S.M.A.R.T only consist of people of color, and even though I have a good deal of Native American in me I know that I am seen as a White Caucasian. Before attending this event I can easily say I was a bit timid to attend knowing that this would be a completely new experience for me. There is always a hush tone when dealing with diversity and racial matters, and I was afraid that I would be seen as someone who does not care about today s society and its racial discrimination. There is always that line of being color blind like we spoke about in class and the line of almost teaching about diversity as if we do face it the same even though we have not gone through these hard ships. I did not want to ignore their hardships and yet, I did not want to come off as if I understand their hardships. When I first walked into the event it was actually like a breath of fresh air. • 33. Television s Impact On Television One part of television that has always been a constant in a lot of programs is family. More particular, the family sitcom and family dramas have been around for years and are still around today. Family television shows are great programs for everyone due to the fact of being very family oriented. However, the way families were portrayed when television first started out has changed drastically with how some families are portrayed now. The evolution of the way families are viewed on screen and off screen can be portrayed throughout the years on television. One television show that aired from 1951 1957 was the series I Love Luc. This series was about a husband and a wife and their lives together. They were a typical family in the 50s. Lucy stayed at home being a housewife at first while Ricky would go out to work (Smith). The series even showed them sleeping in separate beds at that time because we as the audience weren t allowed to see a couple sleep in the same bed. Later in the series, Lucy became pregnant which wasn t a very common thing to show on television, especially at that time (Garrison). Typical families shown on television in the 1950s were a mother, father, and their children. One show that started to break the mold was My Three Sons which premiered in 1960 and aired until 1972. My Three Sons was about a widowed father raising his three sons on his own with the help of the kids grandfather (Taflinger). In a matter of only ten years the family sitcom had ... This reason is very subjective and unreasonable. This paper would not examine the unreasonable reason from the board of FDC as above, but will observe the fact that the removal of a director by the board is not the first time happened. There are some previous cases which are similar to the FDC case in which directors were dismissed by the board, such as in the case of Allied Mining Processing Ltd v Boldbow Pty Ltd ( Allied v Boldbow ), Central Exchange Ltd v Rivkin Financial Services Ltd ( Central v Rivkin ), and Scottish Colonial Ltd v Australian Power Gas Co Ltd ( Scottish v Australian Power ). In those three cases, the decision by the judges is considerably different. In Allied v Boldbow and Central v Rivkin, the judges state that Section 203D does not replace any other power of removal possessed by the company. Therefore, a company could regulate in their constitution to dismiss a director without the need for a vote of shareholders (in defined circumstances). Conversely, in Scottish v Australian Power, the judges emphasise that Section 203D is mandatory, and therefore, the process of removal a director must follow Section 203D. Due to those cases, it is clear that there are pro and contra about the dismissal of a director as stipulated in the Section 203D. One side argues that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Long ago, during the 1900s, assimilation was considered to be crucial in order for a naturalization process to occur. Immigrants were forced to assimilate and adopt to the American culture, in which they had never been introduced to before. White Collar vs Blue Collar Imagine there is a society, and in this society there are only two households, one of them is a white collar family, the other is a blue collar or working class family. To keep it simple, white collar workers are highly skilled and usually work in an office setting, while blue collar workers perform more labor based jobs and get their hands dirty. Now you may ask, what do these two groups have to do with each other? Well, their differences are what bring them together, and neither group would be able to operate without the other. Personally, I grew up and still live in a white collar family and this alone has shaped my household environment. I would also imagine growing up in the other class would have an impact on your household environment as well. Although these two households are quite different from each other, they still impact one another and society today wouldn t be the same without either of them. • 41. Mortality In Virginia Woolf s The Death Of The Moth Mortality and the Moth Death is unwelcome news for all human beings, but at the same time, it is an unavoidable incident that everyone should accept. About this statement, some people might argue that the death is a part of people s life, while people cannot avoid it. In The Death of the Moth , Virginia Woolf, the writer of the essay, claims that people should be aware of mortality and accept the death with a deferential attitude through the observation of the little moth s death throes. The key concepts of the essay release as the writer illustrates her attitudes that change chronologically as she comprehends the moth s fierce fight with death. By introducing the essay with a brief but detailed description of a pleasant morning, mid September (125), she leads the readers to get the background idea of the moth s upcoming fate. Initially, Woolf s feeling towards the moth was pity and pathetic. The sentence, ... his zest in enjoying his meager opportunities to the full, pathetic. (125), describes how the author perceives a moth as a trivial, minor creature. However, after she encounters and apprehends the moth s furious fights against death, her feeling shifts toward admiration and respect. ... This gigantic effort on the part of an insignificant little moth, against a power of such magnitude, to retain what no on else valued or desired to keep, moved one strangely (127). Eventually, the essay concludes with author s claim on death s strangeness: the true nature of life and death and the motivational attitude towards the death. Hence, in this paper, I will explore how Woolf expresses her appreciation towards the moth and the death, and examine the definitions of the life and the death through the relationship between the moth and Woolf. Throughout The Death of the Moth, the main theme is derived from the observation and recognition. By observing the moth s little movement to revive, Woolf recognizes the connection between life and death, and the receptive attitude towards the death. We usually do not really care or learn a lesson from a moth s behavior. We usually think a moth is a little, insignificant creature. Same as readers, Woolf initially dismisses and devalues the moth and his motions. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. A Brief Look at Climate Change The global climate system is complex and its response to future anthropogenic greenhouse gases and to climate change adaptation, is often poorly understood. Climate change is an area where modeling in the framework of complex adaptive systems can improve our knowledge both with respect to the internal structure and adaptive mechanisms of climate and our capacity for designing efficient climate adaptation policies. Modeling of these systems includes a dynamic system consisting of transition equations describing the evolution of state variables characterizing the natural system, such as CO2 concentrations in the upper and lower atmosphere and in the oceans, and state variables characterizing the economic systems, such as physical capital and knowledge. The complex adaptive character of the system implies that the dynamic system will be nonlinear and nonconvex, will allow for nonlinear feedbacks and multiple basins of attraction, will evolve both in the temporal and spatial dimension, and will be influenced by forward looking optimizing economic agents (Xepapadeas, 2010). Moreover, any rational policy choice must consider the uncertainty about the magnitude and timing of climate change s impact on economic productivity (Cai et al., 2013). Respect For Authority In The Jungle Book Respect for authority is a central theme in the Jungle Book and the guiding principle in this law reinforces that elders are to be respected and obeyed. Akela was the ultimate authority in the jungle and respect for him was of the utmost importance. In humans this has similar meaning, though not as highly looked upon as in the jungle kingdom. Some humans honor those who are wiser and older, but it is not law to do so and many do not respect elders. Jungle law is about obedience and respect, it is clearly written in the law. Human law is complicated and complex and within it are many more smaller laws that are less about the greater good and more about the individual person. Baloo teaches Mowgli the laws and the language of the jungle and respect is a large part of that. A child could apply this law by simply listening and obeying his/her parents. Just as Mowgli was taught, children must be taught how to behave. Saying please or thank you is an example of respect that can be learned early. Adults can apply this by taking care of an elderly parent who is having medical issues and needs assistance. An adult child who ensured their elderly parent has their needs met and are advocated for is an example of how this might be applies.
