would benefit the economy more than instituting tariffs and non tariff trade barriers. However, the
reality is quite different. Politically, tariffs help to strike a balance between social welfare and the
politicians goals. One theory is that campaign contributions are needed for re election; and to achieve
these funds, politicians will weigh this need against welfare reducing protection for industry lobbyists
(Magee, 2011). The models would suggest that the tariffs should actually be much higher than they are
due to the low efficiency cost of tariffs compared to the substantial gains provided for the producers
(Magee, 2011). However, developed countries actually have very low tariffs. There are six possible
explanations for why developed countries have such low tariffs when the political theories behind why
we have tariffs at all would suggest they should be higher.
Six Reasons for Low Tariffs There are six main reasons for the disparity realized between theory and

Abstract
In recent times, public officials, community groups and activists have expressed their concern over the
growth of violence perpetrated by youth gangs. On their own, local governments are often restricted
not only by budgetary constraints, but operating knowledge. There is evidence that when public
officials and community groups are engaged, empowered and enlightened in a collaborative effort,
change happens. When both the public and private sectors willingly cooperate together, deterrence of
gang violence can be achieved. This paper delves into specific government programs that studies and
provides information on gang violence. This information brings forward specific limitations and
recommendations that a continued collaborative effort can deter youth gang violence.
Issue and Goal
When addressing public safety issues, one might assume that the most obvious approach encompasses
an elementary and uncomplicated strategy involving strictly law enforcement practitioners. A
seemingly straightforward approach however is in actuality nonexistent. While allocating additional

The event I chose to attend would be the S.M.A.R.T (Students of Color Mentoring, Aiding, Retaining,
and Teaching) life size game of Life. I finally decided to go to this event was because, with all of the
classes reflecting on privilege and diversity I wanted to take this chance and learn more about the
subject beyond class. This was a little outside of my comfort zone because S.M.A.R.T only consist of
people of color, and even though I have a good deal of Native American in me I know that I am seen
as a White Caucasian. Before attending this event I can easily say I was a bit timid to attend knowing
that this would be a completely new experience for me. There is always a hush tone when dealing with
diversity and racial matters, and I was afraid that I would be seen as someone who does not care about
today s society and its racial discrimination. There is always that line of being color blind like we

though we have not gone through these hard ships. I did not want to ignore their hardships and yet, I

One part of television that has always been a constant in a lot of programs is family. More particular,
the family sitcom and family dramas have been around for years and are still around today. Family
television shows are great programs for everyone due to the fact of being very family oriented.
However, the way families were portrayed when television first started out has changed drastically
with how some families are portrayed now. The evolution of the way families are viewed on screen
and off screen can be portrayed throughout the years on television. One television show that aired
from 1951 1957 was the series I Love Luc. This series was about a husband and a wife and their lives
together. They were a typical family in the 50s. Lucy stayed at home being a housewife at first while
Ricky would go out to work (Smith). The series even showed them sleeping in separate beds at that
time because we as the audience weren t allowed to see a couple sleep in the same bed. Later in the

During the Enlightenment many changes were happening. There were breakthroughs in all sciences
not just medicine. Old ideas and theories were replaced with more modern ways. New medicines were

In week one of this class, I was tasked to design a flowchart for a process in my daily life that I can
improve. I chose my morning routine before work. My goal is to get out of the house by 7:38am
Monday Friday in order to catch my bus for work at 7:41am. I have trouble keeping track of time,
usually missing the bus about one time every two weeks. I have discovered through the flowchart in
week one, that my entire process has serious flaws. All of the bottlenecks were identified and

The final table calculates the upper and lower control limits for the entire sample. Since I wake up
every day at 6:30am and must leave the house by 7:40am, I have 70 minutes total to complete all of
my tasks in the morning. According to my calculations on the final table, I need to leave the house
anywhere between 7:34am and 7:39am. Doing so means that I have made my bus and my process has
been a success for the day.
Seasonal Factors Seasonal factors are defined as the amount of correction needed in a time series to

not always mean weather. Seasonal in business terms is usually classified as an activity of some sort.

A Brief Look at Climate Change
The global climate system is complex and its response to future anthropogenic greenhouse gases and
to climate change adaptation, is often poorly understood. Climate change is an area where modeling in
the framework of complex adaptive systems can improve our knowledge both with respect to the
internal structure and adaptive mechanisms of climate and our capacity for designing efficient climate
adaptation policies. Modeling of these systems includes a dynamic system consisting of transition
equations describing the evolution of state variables characterizing the natural system, such as CO2
concentrations in the upper and lower atmosphere and in the oceans, and state variables characterizing
the economic systems, such as physical capital and knowledge. The complex adaptive character of the
system implies that the dynamic system will be nonlinear and nonconvex, will allow for nonlinear
feedbacks and multiple basins of attraction, will evolve both in the temporal and spatial dimension,
and will be influenced by forward looking optimizing economic agents (Xepapadeas, 2010).
Moreover, any rational policy choice must consider the uncertainty about the magnitude and timing of
climate change s impact on economic productivity (Cai et al., 2013).
The majority of the literature, including the recent U.S. Government Interagency Working Group on
the Social Cost of Carbon (IWG, 2013) does not model the stochastic nature of the climate and

Respect For Authority In The Jungle Book
Respect for authority is a central theme in the Jungle Book and the guiding principle in this law
reinforces that elders are to be respected and obeyed. Akela was the ultimate authority in the jungle
and respect for him was of the utmost importance. In humans this has similar meaning, though not as
highly looked upon as in the jungle kingdom. Some humans honor those who are wiser and older, but
it is not law to do so and many do not respect elders. Jungle law is about obedience and respect, it is
clearly written in the law. Human law is complicated and complex and within it are many more
smaller laws that are less about the greater good and more about the individual person. Baloo teaches
Mowgli the laws and the language of the jungle and respect is a large part of that. A child could apply
this law by simply listening and obeying his/her parents. Just as Mowgli was taught, children must be
taught how to behave. Saying please or thank you is an example of respect that can be learned early.
Adults can apply this by taking care of an elderly parent who is having medical issues and needs
assistance. An adult child who ensured their elderly parent has their needs met and are advocated for is
an example of how this might be applies. I agree with this principle and I think it is one that used to be
practiced more. In some countries, it is law that adult children take care of their parents, but that is not

Return To Port Charles
The rumors have been brewing for a while, and it has now been confirmed that Helena Cassadine is
still alive and returning to General Hospital. Today the show went to their Facebook page and shared
the details that Helena is coming back. This is after it was announced a while back that she was dead,
but you know that nobody is ever really dead on a soap opera. Helena left several things to people in
Port Charles, and it really did seem that she was finally dead. Helena is seen in a new preview for
General Hospital, and all that she says in the preview is You know, Port Charles is a very mysterious
place. You never know who s going to come on.
The preview doesn t confirm very much just that Helena Cassadine is coming back to Port Charles
once again. Celeb Dirty Laundry did have a few more details about her return. Everyone knows that
Jason Morgan was headed to Cassadine Island to try and figure out why his son Jake was afraid of
him. He knows that he was the scarecrow, but not exactly what Jake saw him do or how bad it really
was for him while there. Of course, going to Cassadine Island during May sweeps on General Hospital
is going to be more than just a simple trip. It sounds like Helena will be back for the big Nurse s Ball,
which is the perfect time for the drama to heat up in Port Charles. Spencer Cassadine is also supposed
to be in town for the ball. Fans are excited to see the little boy return but hope that he is safe with
