Thomas had just arrived in the Reno Tahoe international airport. He was with his Aunt Sandy and

The Khmer Rouge carried out one of the most horrific genocides in the twentieth century. The nation
of Cambodia was in a near decade civil war between the Communist (Khmer Rouge) and the
monarchy and then the Khmer Republic. The Khmer Rouge won the civil war and controlled all of
Cambodia from 1975 to 1979. During this time, they committed horrific crimes against their own
people. This genocidal regime was one of the worst events in the later years of the 1900s, and it is not
well talked about in schools. The Khmer Rouge movement started back in the 1940s when Cambodia
was fighting for freedom from the French government. Over the years, the Northern Vietnamese
influenced much of the group s practices and beliefs. They gained so much members during the Lon
Nol era because many Cambodian people lost family from the American bombings (whom Lon Nol
was allied with). Through fear and threats, the Khmer Rouge scared the people into moving into the
countryside. They abolished all things that have to do with capitalism. They brainwashed people into
starving the population, torturing the accused , and murdering any who oppose the Khmer Rouge way

Reflection Of A Crucible
A crucible is a situation of severe trial, or in which different elements interact, leading to the creation
of something new. Everyone in their life has experienced or gone through a crucible that has had a
great impact on how they view something. From my perspective I have experienced a crucible that
changed how I viewed the simple things. My crucible was how much my mom did for me and I never
noticed how blessed and thankful I am for her. My mom has so much opacity to the little things for me
that I don t notice but when she doesn t do the little things I notice why she didn t do it.
The little things my mom did for me was she always calls me right after school and asks me how my

go back to his girlfriend. Another reason why I believe this album is outstanding is due to Amy s
powerful and distinctive voice. Her voice is strong and charismatic. Her vocal style compares to that
of a sixties soul singer. Amy s tone and mood is expressed clearly through her voice. Even when she
wasn t singing her lyrics, the sounds she made within her songs expressed the mood. Her voice glints
with possibility: tart, smoky, ready to flirt or sob, and capable of the jazzy timing of a Dinah
Washington or the declamation of soul singers like Martha Reeves and Carla Thomas (Pareles). The
main reason why I find this album most successful is that there is no other album out there that sounds
similar. Ms. Winehouse has grown up on hip hop s version of R B, which chops the old dramatic
