Goose Hollow Reflection
For my neighborhood study of Goose Hollow, I completed a research project to answer my research
question, What is day to day life like in Goose Hollow? . This paper will reveal the story of my data
through showing common themes between my research team s data to highlight noticeable
conclusions drawn from my research methodologies.
In analyzing my data, it is important to note my positionality. I am a nineteen year old female college
student living in a downtown area of a city. I identify as being middle class, Jewish, heterosexual, and
Latina. These key aspects of identity were important to take into consideration while collecting and
analyzing my data because it can affect interpretation. For my research in Goose Hollow specifically,
my social location as a middle class Latina was the most relevant. An awareness of the tensions
inherent in research, and reflection on these tensions is important (McAullffe and Coleman, 2008, pg.
26). Being aware of my social location and following the ethics and protocol necessary in a research
project, allowed me to be reflexive during my study.
When making conclusions about my data to determine the narrative, I looked at how every research
methodology contributed to the themes of my neighborhood. In the very act of constructing data out of
experience, the qualitative researcher singles out some things as worthy of note and relegates others to
the background (Wolcott, 1994, pg. 13). For the purpose of my paper, I chose to focus on two themes
but that does not discredit the rest of my data. The two themes that appeared in all the data shared
between my research team, were the ideas that Goose Hollow serves as an in between place for people
trying to get from point A to point B and the active gentrification present in the neighborhood. To
begin, I focused on participant observation methodology. The physical location and businesses of
Goose Hollow makes it a convenient place for people to stop. The grab and go pizza place, Starbucks,
corner store, and many modes of transportation make it a hub for commuters in their day to day life.
When analyzing my group s data, a considerable amount of instances relating to transportation were
observed. Ellen Koukel observed the MAX

Why I Want To Be An Engineer
Growing up, Math and science were always my favorite subjects. This led me to desire a career that
incorporates these two subjects. As I furthered my education, I discovered I was very interested in
engineering. Being able to learn new things and apply that new knowledge is something I have always
enjoyed doing. The high job market, life flexibility, financial security and social impact are all reasons
I have chosen to pursue a career in software engineering. One reason I want to be an engineer is I
enjoy that kind of work. Problem solving is one major part of engineering, and something I have
always enjoyed doing. If I enjoy the work I do, engineering will fell much less like a job , and make it
much more enjoyable. I always knew I never wanted to have to wake up every morning to go to a job
I hated. With engineering, I am ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Currently, engineers are needed in all parts of the world. Being able to find a job easier will reduce a
great deal of stress that may come with other careers. On top of that, because engineers are need all
over the world, it is a great way to be able to travel. Although it may not be as relaxing is taking a
vacation and traveling, it would still be a great opportunity to see the world. For these reasons, I am
motivated to pursue a career in the engineering field. For me, the most important attribute for being an
engineer is life flexibility. Seeing the life flexibility my mother has with her engineering job showed
me how critical flexibility is. Anytime there was an emergency, my mother was always able to make
herself available due to the flexibility of her job. My mother is also able to do the majority of her work
from home. Having the flexibility to be able to work from home is another reason life flexibility is on
the top of my list. Overall, having a flexible job is very important to me, and the flexibility of
engineering is one reason I am drawn to that

Santiago Nasar Death
In Gabriel Garcia Marquez s novel Chronicle of a Death Foretold, the narrator wants to cover the truth
about Santiago Nasar s death that happened years ago. It s clear of who was responsible for his death
because the murders themselves told people they were going to kill Santiago Nasar. They claim to
have done it for their sister s honor, Angela Vicario, because she told her brothers, Pablo and Pedro
Vicario, that Santiago Nasar took her virginity before she got married to Bayardo San Roman. Angela
Vicario brought dishonor to her family name and it was Pablo and Pedro s duty to restore it. The
narrator asked witnesses and Santiago Nasar s family members about the day of his death and they all
give different types of responses. Even though this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The death of Santiago Nasar is foretold over and over to help the reader piece together the
information. The main focus is Santiago Nasar s death and it s told from different points of views. It
may not be accurate because for whatever reason the characters prevent the reader from gaining any
new precise information about the actual day. For example when the narrator asked whether it was
raining or not a mix of answers was given and it s still unclear. It s a simple question but the characters
in this novel tend to keep secrets or contradict each other while remembering this tragedy. The reader
can also take into account that it has been about twenty seven years since Santiago Nasar had died and
it would be complicated to remember if it was raining or not twenty seven years ago. But one thing is
for sure that the smell of Santiago Nasar still won t go away after all these years because of the blood
shed is on everyone s hands. Years have gone by and yet they still smell and remember Santiago Nasar
as he was. Whether he was innocent or not it was not proven. His death could ve been prevented in
many ways, if his mother would not have misinterpreted his dream or if Angela Vicario kept the name
of whoever took her virginity a

The Poisoner s Handbook By Deborah Blums Best Selling Book
The film that I am reviewing, title The Poisoner s Handbook, is based on Deborah Blums best selling
book, of the same title, which reflects on the most notorious cases between the years of 1918 and 1959
that were handled by Charles Norris, the chief medical examiner for New York City, also known and
described by his peers as the father of forensic toxicology in America, and Alexander Oscar Gettler,
toxicologist with the Office of Chief Medical Examiner of the City of New York, such as the fatal
radium poisoning of the factory workers who contracted radiation poisoning from painting watch dials
with self luminous paint at the Orange, New Jersey watch factory around the year 1917 and other
cases that involve dangerous poisons, like arsenic, methanol, lead, carbon monoxide, denatured
alcohol, radium and thallium. Their renowned work led to tougher regulations by the government and
the creation of the Food and Drug Administration. The film depicts how the average American s
medicine cabinet, in the early 1900s, was a treasure chest of dangerous poisons that could make you
ill, put you in a coma, and even kill you. These poisons were readily found in health tonics, depilatory
creams, teething medicine, and cleaning supplies.
In the early 1920s, medical examiners and coroners were appointed by the mayor and were
responsible for investigating every suspicious death in New York City. The position was a political
one and anyone, including musicians, painters, milkmen could

Truman Doctrine Dbq
U.S. foreign policy throughout the twentieth century was fairly consistent with regards to trade.
Economic benefit to the U.S. in supplying belligerents during the First and Second World Wars left the
nation in relative secure economic condition. However, prior to the implementation of what became
known as the Truman Doctrine, the U.S. generally steered clear of foreign entanglements unless U.S.
security was threatened. The Truman Doctrine was a turning point in U.S. foreign relations. To
understand how and why the Truman Doctrine changed U.S. foreign policy, there must be a review of

Theory Of Multiple Intelligences Theory
Many theories exist around the world involving many different subjects. Some theories are in the
science area while others are in the psychology area. One psychology theory that is used in education
is the theory of Multiple Intelligences. The Multiple Intelligences Theory is a theory that shows the
nine intelligences all individuals possess, with some individuals being more strong in some
intelligences more than the others. Knowing the nine intelligences that exist, it is easier for educators
to be able to teach students in the intelligence they are strongest in. The Multiple Intelligences Theory
s key points are that all individuals possess the nine intelligences, each intelligence can be improved

Howard Gardner s Multiple Intelligences Theory is a theory with nine intelligences. The nine
intelligences that are in the Multiple Intelligences Theory are the visual spatial intelligence, the
linguistic verbal intelligence, the mathematical intelligence, the kinesthetic intelligence, the musical
intelligence, the interpersonal intelligence, the intrapersonal intelligence, the naturalistic intelligence,
and the existential intelligence (Cherry, 2016b). These intelligences are possessed by all individuals
with some being stronger in some more than in others. Some individuals may be stronger in the visual
spatial intelligence, which means they learn better when being able to watch videos and pictures or
doing things that lets you see rather than hear. A person that is strongest in the kinesthetic intelligence
are strongest in body movement and these people like to dance and learn better by dancing or moving
their body. The second key point in Howard Gardner s Multiple Intelligences Theory is that a weak
intelligence can be improved with the right instruction. If an individual is weak in one intelligence, it
can be improved with the right instruction. For example, if an individual lacks in the verbal linguistic
intelligence, he can take English classes or Communication classes in order to better improve in the
verbal linguistic intelligence. If an individual is

Health Education Philosophy
To sell oneself as a health educator, I must become the solution. Individuals believe that we can
prepare and overcome obstacles in the health profession. Allowing others to know I am a health
educator I must sell myself as one who not only knows the knowledge, but am able to present it and
teach it to others.
Second, I must be specific in what I articulate. Having the knowledge to explain my actions or the
ideals related to the course is good, but being able to give examples is even better. Show promise by
letting others know how teamwork is important to overall fitness, and then give an example like how
your team came together to win a state championship or something.
Step three in selling oneself as a health educator, be positive. Health class/P.E. class is the highlight of
most kid s days. By creating a positive and happy atmosphere, students will be able to enjoy the time
they have in the classroom, and they might consider you their favorite teacher. ... Show more content

Nietzsche The Grey Area

AP English Language and Composition
27 October 2017
The Grey Area Around 100 million animals are tested yearly around the world . Scientists willing test
these animals knowing that they are causing them harm but it is accepted because it is helping society
as a whole. What does this say about the people testing the animals; do they have any morality, do
they know what they are doing is wrong or do they feel as though they are doing it for the greater
good? In beef alone, Americans consume around 24.1 billions pounds. Here, America is again though
killing animals for our own use and benefits. Nietzsche believes that there are no morals and that
everything we have been taught is anti natural. Nietzsche implied the morals that people associate
with killing, testing, and eating animals are all antinatural. He stated; as it concerns for its own sake,
and and not out of regard for the concerns, considerations, and contrivances of life, is a specific error
with which one ought to have no pity. (Nietzsche 351) This explains how the people performing these
acts of testing, abuse, eating, and killing are only listening to their animalistic instincts or they know
that what they are doing is for the greater good. Nietzsche continued to explain that people do these
things for the benefit of themselves, Almost every party understands how it is the interest of its own
self preservation, (Nietzsche 348) Scientists test on animals to help the public, we

With the past presidential campaign, George W. Bush vowed to open area 1002 to drilling. Now he is
in office, along with Interior Secretary, Gail Norton, who shares his view. Legislation was introduced
in the House and Senate in early March 2001 to open the plain to drilling. Because of its enormous
potential and the vital need for domestic sources of oil and gas, the Department of Interior
recommends that the Congress enact
Legislation which would make this entire available for oil drilling. Ms. Norton has been given the
right to impose necessary and appropriate measures to protect refuge resource while efficiently
removing oil. Despite the remote location, it is the most attractive onshore petroleum exploration
target in the United States (‘Resource Assessment ). It appears that the President, his Interior
Secretary, and the Department of Interior have forgotten the first reason for creating this refuge. It was
done by humans, who valued nature, not to be opened to oil drilling and possible development. The
wildlife debate has focused mainly on the areas of importance to the Porcupine Caribou, and other
species such as polar bears, grizzly bears, wolves and migratory birds are also at a great risk. The
107th Congress is considering approving energy development in Alaska. Shortages of gasoline,
natural gas and the resulting increased prices have opened this debate. The events of September 11,

The geographic focus of Fantastic Golf has been very successful in the Southern and eastern portions
of Sweden and our product line are golf balls
Introduction
The product that we have chosen to produce and sell is golf balls. We will produce a top of the line
golf ball that will travel further than the average ball. Our goal is to produce a top of the line golf ball,
which is created by cutting edge technology that will last longer and travel further than the average
golf ball. The name of our golf balls is 2 Long. Our balls will be sold per sleeve (3 to a sleeve), per
dozen and per case. The country that we have chosen to market our product in is Sweden. Sweden was
largely unknown as a golfing destination many years ago but, thanks to a number of reasons, has
turned the corner from its underachiever status to world beater. Annika Sorenstam put Swedish and
ladies golf on the map when she became the first woman in more than 50 years to feature in a PGA
Tour event against the men in the Bank of America Colonial. But it doesn t stop there, add Ulrik
Johansson and Jesper Parnevik from the men s game to Catrin Nilsmark and Carin Koch from the
ladies game, and you have a country that has produced more than its fair share of talented golfers.
Golfing in Sweden is both a pleasure and an eye opener. The first Swedish golf club, Gothenburg, was
founded in 1902 and was quickly followed two

Hispanic And Hispanic Ethnic Groups
When looking at the Hispanic/Latino ethnic groups some may think they are all from the same country
because of their culture, and the fact that many speak Spanish. However, this is not the case, and when
looking at the unique features associated with each ethnic group, it is easy to see the differences
between them. All of the Latino/Hispanic ethnic groups have differences and this can even be heard in
the dialect used to speak Spanish, such as the case when listening to Puerto Ricans and Mexicans
speaking Spanish. In an effort to have a better understanding of elder Mexicans, this paper will look at
the Mexican sub culture, and the features associated with the family dynamics, gender roles,
acculturation patters, as well as religious contemporary issues such as taking care of an elder family
member. We will examine ways to engage, assess, discuss ways of intervention, and review ways to
ensure that effective evaluations are completed.
Demographics
With Hispanics quickly becoming the largest growing population in the United States, it is easy to see
why there is a need for social workers to understand the needs of this population. In fact, focusing on
this population as a whole is a relatively new concentration in regards to social work, so understanding
the elder population is even more unknown. Similar to their Caucasian and African American peers,
Mexican elders have a number of factors that are unique to their culture, and must be understood when

Archetypes In Fahrenheit 451
The use of everyday objects and descriptions can really connect to something more deep. In the
captivating novel Fahrenheit 451, Ray Bradbury uses many archetypes to build up the story. The
protagonist, Guy Montag is in a journey to find answers using the paperback books that the overall
society totally rejects. In this society it is not that hard to forget about others when you have three
walls covered with TV s. The majority of the society decided to use materialistic objects such as the

up using the knowledge found in these books to be very useful. The lack of concern the society has for
others leads to the drastic collapse in the society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

World War II officially began on September 1, 1939 the invasion of Poland. Adolf Hitler was wanting

tactic designed to create disorganization among enemy forces through the use of mobile forces such as
planes, artillery and tanks. Blitzkrieg meaning lightning war was first used in the invasion of Poland

A Film Comparison of The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) and Independence Day (1996)
The Day the Earth stood still and Independence Day were both made by 20th century fox. This
company used to be one of the main 5 in the 50 s, and is a well known conglomerate company,
recognised for their Sci fi genre. Star wars and X files are two other of their best known productions.
The institution that made the films is one similarity; the main difference in the films is the historical
context. 20th century fox made The Day the Earth stood still in the 1950 s, the decade in which sci fi
films were at their peak. It was post world war 2, where people first had to live with the reality of

Changes had to be made to update the genre, however the iconography had to remain the same so that
the genre didn t lose its identity. For example, the title sequences are very similar to each other, with
spaceships coming to Earth, however Independence Day almost mocks the sci fi genre. There is
simple camera work and special effects in The day the Earth stood still, unlike the technological
advances used in Independence day. Both films use the typical mis en scene of spaceships, aliens, and
eerie music, however Independence Day does not need to use as much as the genre is already
established and people find it easy to recognise.
Independence Day uses the aliens as evil beings, whereas the aliens in The day the Earth stood still
come in peace and are only forced to fight when the Americans use violence on them. Due to its
historical context The day the Earth stood still uses stereotypical representations of gender, age and
race, such as weak women, boisterous boys, the representation of the British, Indian and French
characters. It is very male dominated with only one female character in the film, a mother. It is shown
by Morley that it is safe to use men in films as women can accept men, yet men cannot accept to
watch films with female dominance. However, in Independence Day the aliens come to attack and
women are represented as much more

This band had three guitarists, singers, and songwriters, but no bass or drums. After trying many

more impressive presence to it. Designed by Konsantin Melnikov, and originally intended for the
Union for Municipal Workers. The three cantilevered structures housed the seating for the auditorium,

Essay on Honor and Glory in Homer s Iliad
Honor and Glory in Homer s Iliad
Mortality, by its very nature, causes men s lives to be cut short at their primes. The Fates cut our lives
short at any time, so the Greeks must have an example, a model mortal, to follow so as to make the
most of their lives. A model mortal is one who lives his life accumulating the most honor and glory: he
pressed for battle now where men win glory (4: 259).By strictly adhering to the honor/heroic code, a
mortal can raise himself to become the model mortal. This hero, Diomedes, is the model mortal of the
Greeks.

What Are The Disadvantages Of Subway
Conclusion
Franchising as a method of globalization has lead Subway to seek heights in the international market.
However, we conclude that, Subway gives a clear view of its success through various franchising

Franchisees should stress the brand differences of their Subway restaurant by communicating and how
Subway distinguishes from the main competitors. To generate an advantage in competition, a selling
proposition has to be created by connecting the advertising message with the product. There should be
one main objective to the promotion campaign. Therefore, Subway has to focus its message on tasty,
healthy food, which is prepared quickly and freshly in front of the eyes of the customer to get into the
market, promotion activities according to the customers expectations like menu specials, free drinks
and other performances should be considered, as a tool to get awareness. For an example using
celebrity endorsements to promote the products or incorporate the Subway with local festivals by
having offers to get consumers on a personal level with the product. Besides that, two main target
groups can be defined. The first group consists of students with strong brand preferences, who want to
enjoy quick and low priced food with their friends in their free time. The other group is made up of
singles that are career orientated with strong focus on one s own appearance. They do not have the
time or do not want to cook only for themselves and prefer fast but healthy food. Apart from that,
allow an instalment payment for new franchisees of Subway who not affords or who does not wish to
pay the lump sum payments of the initial cost and reduce the royalty fees that needs to be paid over a

The Cosmological Aargument
The Cosmological Argument
The Cosmological argument infers that the existence of the universe is due to the existence of God.
Plato bought about one of the oldest arguments between 428 327 BCE. Plato believed that there is a
self moving principle from which all change and motion originated. This principle is the core which is
responsible for the world. Thomas Aquinas in the 13th century developed Plato s views; however this
development was with a theistic principle. The first three of the five ways produced was about the
cosmological argument. Aquinas believed in the god of classical theism. The cosmological argument
is a probability argument because it s an a posteriori argument which takes its principles from an
observation of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means we would never reach today. Time began when the universe began. Events are caused. The
beginning of the universe was an event. Therefore there must have been a cause, this first cause was
God.
William Lane Craig another 20th century philosopher till present argued that the universe cannot be
infinite, because you cannot add to an actual infinite amount. Since the universe is finite =, it must
have a beginning. Whatever exists must have a cause. Therefore the universe has a cause to its
existence. If the world had a beginning it either came naturally or through personal choice. The laws
of nature only existed when the world did. There were no natural causes to bring the world about.
Therefore it cannot be that the world came due to random forces of nature. There must have been
some personal agency involved. This personal agency must have existed outside of space and time.
Therefore this personal agency is a translucent being; the cause of the universe must be a personal
being who freely chooses to create the world.
Leibniz explained the cosmological argument in terms of the principle of sufficient reason, the
principle of sufficient reason states that nothing is without ground or reason. If the universe had
always been in existence, it would need an explanation. It is necessary to decide why there is
something rather than nothing. Going backwards in time forever will not give a complete explanation.

My Family Trip
A family vacation that is important to me was the trip to Washington D.C. I took in 2006. I went on
this vacation with my family friend and my two nephews. We went to Washington D.C. because my
nephews had a strong interest in learning the United States history along with myself. We decided to
go to Washington D.C. because it has a rich history in the United States and was one of the best places
to learn about our country and its presidents. I chose to take my nephews with me to Washington
because it was a great bonding experience with them and really allowed family bonding time that got
them away from home. I chose to go with my family friend because he was also interested in history
at the time. During our vacation, we went to many places that made a huge impact in our lives and
will always make a huge impact in our lives. The first place we went to after the hotel, of course, was
Abraham Lincoln s monument. The first impression we had of the monument was that it was huge!
While we were there Lincoln s monument was not very crowded, which we were thankful for. At the
monument we took pictures with Lincoln and stood and looked back at what Lincoln had done in his
lifetime. It was at his monument that we also realized how much Lincoln deserved the biggest
monument money could buy. This was important to me because I have always wanted to learn more
about Lincoln and what he had done in his presidency. Looking around the monument we could see

The Dumb Waiter is written by Harold Pinter in 1957. Absurd is a movement that was centered in

The Characteristics Of Catherine InWashington Square, By...
The novel, Washington Square written by Henry James, takes place in Manhattan during the 1840s.
Washington Square began for James with an anecdote told by the actress Fanny Kemble (Simpson).
The main characters include Dr. Sloper who is a renown physician, his two sisters; Mrs. Penniman
who is melodramatic and Mrs. Almond who is sympathetic, a coxcomb known as Morris Townsend,
and Catherine who is the daughter of Dr. Sloper. These characters affect Catherine s personality and
have a great impact on her life which helps her develop a backbone. In the beginning, Catherine is
known as the shy and plain girl, and a disappointment to her father. However, towards the end of the
book the readers are able to see how Catherine has grown into a strong willed and independent
woman. This is due to how she has been treated throughout many relationships with others. Three
qualities that Catherine possess are being shy, inexperienced, and independent. One characteristic of
Catherine is that she is very shy. For example, when Morris Townsend approaches her; She answered
nothing; she only listened and looked at him; and he, as if he expected no particular reply, went on to
say many other things in the same comfortable and natural manner (James). Catherine is completely
mute and tongue tied. The readers can also infer that Catherine is a very introverted person. Although
Catherine can be shy, she is the protagonist in the novel. Mona Simpson states that James s narrator

Professionalism Definition
I have an extremely broad definition for professionalism. Overall, I believe that professionalism is a
multidimensional term that refers to many ideal qualities associated with respectable, professional
individuals. These individuals have chosen to conduct themselves in the best ways possible in all areas
related to their career and work. In my opinion, individuals exhibit professionalism when they are
highly self disciplined, competent, experienced, and well mannered. In addition to this, I believe
professionalism refers to those that are good decision makers and individuals that strongly adhere to
ethical guidelines. I believe the term also characterizes those that strive to serve the needs of their

First, I will sincerely strive to adhere to the ethical guidelines associated with my professional career.
Ethical guidelines may seem easy to follow initially, but my experiences while interning have shown
me that it could become difficult to follow these guidelines in situations where morals contradict with
the ethical guidelines of the organization. For example, there have been times at Rogers County Youth
Services where the youth have tried to give me a hug when I leave. From a moral standpoint and my
Christian faith, I strive to be a caring, loving person in all my social interactions. I try to display this
when deemed appropriate to be an encouraging presence in a dark place. Therefore, it may seem odd
for one such as myself to deny a hug from a youth that has been ripped from their family due to
neglect and/or abuse. However, Rogers County Youth Services made me sign an ethical contract that
specifically stated that I was restricted from hugging any of the residents in the shelter no matter what.
Although my moral compass may lead me to disregard this statement in certain extreme scenarios, I
have an obligation to conduct myself in an ethical, professional manner while interning. I believe this
is an excellent rule at the shelter because it protects the individual and the organization from a wide
variety of repercussions that could result from hugging a resident. Nonetheless, it is a rule that could
be challenging for many to follow in situations where a young victim of abuse is asking for a

Crowd Behavior Analysis
35 students involved themselves in the rally. 15 of these students had rated themselves as shy. Eight of
those were rated as shy too by their classmates. We therefore had 8 students who we could, almost
with conviction, define as shy. This was particularly so since results of the instrument supported this
assessment. Special indirect observation was therefore accorded these 8 shy students to see whether or
not they lost their personalty, as classical crowd psychology asserted, under influence of the crowd.
The rally itself occurred for an hour between the times of 2.00 3.00pm. The excuse was of calling for
greater student rights on campus. I chose a topic that we thought students would be particularly
interested in. We also chose a time of day where students would not be too tired, nor did they have a
heavy workload of classes on that particular day. The march too was outside their campus so students
would not have to travel to it. We also attempted to chose a cool day. All these conditions were
selected with the intention of excluding any possible confounding elemetn. The students seemed
sufficiently motivated. Three of the eight shy students evidenced slightly louder behavior than usual
more extroverted with one carrying a banner and the others actually, to some extent, being caught up
in the engineered fervor. The others, however, seemed less disinterested with two actually walking

According to the text book, terrorism is defined as a systematic attempt to inspire fear to gain political
ends, typically involving the indiscriminate use of violence against noncombatants. Terrorist attacks is
definately not new to the U.S. In 2001, al Qaeda lauched an attack on New York s World Trade Center.
The attack killed thousands of Americans, and put the country in a state of panic and scare. One
reason for this attack was that Islamics were angered that the U.S had troops on the soil of Saudi
Arabia, which was regarded as sacred. Groups such as al Qaeda are extremely violent, and will not be
negotiated with for peace. Recently, we have had several terrorist attacks including the Boston
Marathon bombing, Muslim shooting at Fort Hood, and ISIS attacks on soldiers and journalists.
Recently, attacks from domestic islamists are a major concern for the U.S. These individuals are self
radicalized through beliefs and the internet, rather than being a part of a group. Farook and Malik, of
the San Bernardino attacks, are examples of this. In my opinion, terrorism is a huge concern for all of
the people of our country. I think the United States needs to have better background checks and
investigations on immigrants before letting them into our country, and we need to have better online
and phone security from the government so they can weed out threatening individuals that are already

Symbol Of Knowledge In Alphaville
In Jean Luc Godard s Alphaville, a secret agent, Lemmy Caution, infiltrates a city controlled by a
super computer called Alpha60. He is sent to Alphaville posing as a journalist to investigate its
residents and encounters a conflict of human emotion versus logical machines.
The weapon of choice for both man and machine is knowledge that the other does not possess. This
knowledge is marked throughout the film by Caution s observations as he deciphers how Alpha 60
reinforces logical thinking by eliminating emotional ideas. These observations are Godard s
epistemological representation of what can only be known to humans and never grasped by
computers.
Caution has knowledge of poetic language important in his defense against Alpha60 s interrogation.

The United States has made progress in the legal system to try and stop discrimination. For instance,
we have laws protecting people against discrimination. For example, you cannot be fired from a job

crimes dealing with elements of discrimination. Although, the fight we are having now is the

Four Forms Of Archetypes In The Anima By Carl Gustav Jung
Psychologist Carl Gustav Jung described several archetypes that are based in the observation of
differing but repeating patterns of thought and action that re appear time and again across people,
countries and continents. Jung s main archetypes are not types in the way that each person may be
classified as one or the other. Rather, we each have all basic archetypes within us. He listed four main
forms of archetypes: The Shadow The Anima The Animus The Self The Shadow is a very common
archetype that reflects deeper elements of our psyche, where latent dispositions which are common to
us all arise. It is, by its name, dark, shadowy, unknown and potentially troubling. It embodies chaos

Persuasive Letter On Social Justice
Dear Ms. Haynes, As you may know, the fight towards social justice has been going on long enough.
Through recent events such as taking a knee during the national anthem or the white supremacist
rallies; tension has grown to new heights. Although it may be difficult to fight the issue of social
justice within our divided nation, I believe there is a solution that could help build a foundation
towards equality. An issue that isn t often highlighted is how troubled youth will find themselves in
trouble with the law at a young age and end up being reincarcerated within a vicious cycle of bad
behavior with no positive influences. Another issue that I would like to discuss is food insecurity
within the United States. Primarily in big cities, food insecurity is a problem that must be addressed in
order to provide a healthy future for our community as a whole. A solution I ve come up with is able
to tackle both of these issues head on and hopefully provide a healthier and safer community for us
Colorado residence. It has come to me that the youth that finds themselves lost within our court
systems have not necessarily had the proper influences to allow them to be productive members of our
society. This is why I propose that these teens should be given a second chance by offering them the
chance to help out their community and provide work for the community gardens in the struggling
places of the Denver Metro area. Given your title as the head of the Parks and Recreation

subset of ad hoc networks where each mobile node is an intelligent vehicle equipped with
communication resources (sensor). The optimal goal is that these networks will contribute to safer
roads and more effective in the future by providing timely information to drivers. They are therefore
vulnerable to many types of attacks. Many proposals have been proposed to secure communication in
VANETs. In this paper; we propose an approach to adopt a new method of distributing certificates in
VANET. In Our proposal the cluster head acts as a virtual CA and issues certificates to cluster
members. The main objective of our approach is to avoid making a new certificate request in case a
node passes from a cluster to another. This approach has been evaluated by simulation study using the
simulator network NS 2. Keywords PKI; VANET; CA; OLSR I. INTRODUCTION A VANET

The Character of Mrs. Mallard in The Story of an Hour by...
The Character of Mrs. Mallard in The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin In The story of an Hour, Kate
Chopin reveals the complex character, Mrs. Mallard, In a most unusual manner. THe reader is led to
believe that her husband has been killed in a railway accident. The other characters in the story are
worried about how to break the news to her; they know whe suffers from a heart condition, and they
fear for her health. On the surface, the story appears to be about how Mrs. Mallard deals with the news
of the death of her husband. On a deeper level, however, the story is about the feeling of intense joy

She noticed the there were patches of blue sky showing here and there through the clouds . The other
characters in the story have one impression of Mrs. Mallard; she seems to have reacted to the terrible
news as one would expect, but the reader is aware that a distinct change has come over her.
The story unviels its theme at this point: Mrs. Mallard, for the first time in her life, experiences a new
found freedom. Instead of dreading the future without her husband, she saw beyond that bitter moment
a long procession of years to come that would belong to her absolutely . She could now live her life
and be absolutely free of the imposing will of her husband: There would be no one to live for her
during the coming years; she would live for herself. There would be now powerful will bending hers
in the blind persistence with which men and women believe they have a right to impose a private will
upon a fellow creature.(15)
Mrs. Mallard had, in that brief moment of illumination (15), stumbled upon a truth: she was now her
own person, free from the confines of her husband. She had loved her husband, sometimes (15), but
that didn t matter: What could love ....count for in the face of theis possession of self assertion which
she suddenly recognized as the strongest impulse of her being! THE theme of the story unfolds at this
point: Mrs. Mallard, through the death of her husband, is able to experience the joy of the realization

The Importance Of Death In The Bible s Life
Samuel and Liza Hamilton are inching closer to death, as everyone does. Although in their cases it is
only beginning to show. To Liza it is as natural as reading the Bible, death is something that is the
inevitable. To Samuel however, dying is almost wrong to be any part of his life. In Samuel s life,
dying was almost illegal for anyone he has ever been impacted by. In Chapter 23, when his eldest
daughter Una dies, it is almost an awakening for Samuel. It is his first sign that death is soon going to
be knocking on his door. It is Liza who does not find as big of a worry in her daughter s death. Both of
them grieve but afterward, only Samuel is taken aback. Most reactions when a child dies before the
parent is guilt on the parent s part, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aaron a child that is easily liked, while his brother is a little darker and harder to love. When Mr.
Trask was a young boy he was always held back and never really left the tiny space of his comfort
zone, meanwhile his brother Charles was always seeking the attention and approval of others
especially that of their father. Adam however, was never really a dark child, unless you recall his dark
past. The one fear that should be on Lee s mind when he sees the darkness in Caleb is the darkness of
Caleb s mother. There is also the possibility that that is the son of Charles because looking into his
childhood Charles did anything and everything for his father s approval even risking the life of his
elder brother. Charles and Cathy had one thing in common, they both loved the idea of chaos and
violence, with that in mind and recalling that they did spend an intimate night together once when
Cathy drugged Adam, it is more fact than fiction that Caleb is a different type of Trask boy and it will
soon show.
Journal #35

As Samuel takes one last look at the Trask place e begins to question Adam one last time. Adam sets
his guard up immediately, saying he has not changed and is still the same man that Cathy left behind
all of those years ago. This vulnerability by that Adam has can be a future problem, especially if Cathy
or Kate decides to come back into the lives of her abandoned husband and children. Samuel asks

Semiotics And Interactive Design Of Black And White Essay
Introduction
For my Annotated Research Kit, I have explored Black and White (colours), semiotics and interactive
design.
The first keyword I have explored is Black and White. This is an illustration style that I have up until
recently, been using in my studio work, and in my own personal practices as a graphic designer. Black
and White also fits in with the culture of today s younger generation, in which their taste of visual
style and graphic design preference fits in with my Black and White design style.
On a similar level, I used Black and White in an animation advertisement for the New Zealand Safe
Campaign. My intention of using a Black and White watercolour style was to make the animation
appear simple and appealing. I combined the idea of black and white with a watercolour visual style to
help bring about the sense of a natural and real animation story about the sad life of pig farming today.
The second keyword I have explored is semiotics. Semiotics improves everyday life by simplifying
matters and information through the interpretation of simple icons. Without this, people s everyday
life would be much difficult than today as we naturally learn faster and better through visuals and
imagery.
My last keyword is interactive design, which is something that is always around us. From the way we
interact with computers to apps from the Apple store to accessing the ATM and reading an online
eBook.
Ultimately, interactive design is about finding a solution to a

What Is The Chrysanthemums By Elisa Allen A Feminist

Elisa Allen; a women who desires more then she possess. Despite Elisa s intelligence, being a women

cowered in her own loneliness and sought for freedom but instead became a victim in her own home.
Due to social repression that she was forced to overcome, Elisa Allen views a very limited scope of

and domesticated women who is filled with such talent and ambition that the world fails to recognize.

need that became necessities. When the man on the wagon began to talk about the chrysanthemum she
enlightened acting like someone acknowledged her presence. Her eyes grew alert and eager (164) and
she became very attentive to the conversation. He gave her attention, something she never received.
He asked her to give her some seeds and she confused that with him asking for a piece of her. Her
breasts swelled (165) and she felt a sense of attraction between both of them. Her whole life she
seeked attention and received that from a random man that she had just met which had such a positive
effect on her. [She] looked more beautiful then ever , because of the man giving Elisa attention. She
enlightened with both inner and outer beauty. Her self confidence drastically increased and for a
change, Henry thought she looked ... strong and happy. (167) Much like the chrysanthemums she
began to shine and bloom like her flowers did because of the attention she had given them and for the
very first time received back. The stranger exemplifies if Henry had given her the same attention he
had, it would have boosted her self confidence that she desperately

  • 2. Goose Hollow Reflection For my neighborhood study of Goose Hollow, I completed a research project to answer my research question, What is day to day life like in Goose Hollow? . This paper will reveal the story of my data through showing common themes between my research team s data to highlight noticeable conclusions drawn from my research methodologies. In analyzing my data, it is important to note my positionality. I am a nineteen year old female college student living in a downtown area of a city. I identify as being middle class, Jewish, heterosexual, and Latina. These key aspects of identity were important to take into consideration while collecting and analyzing my data because it can affect interpretation. For my research in Goose Hollow specifically, my social location as a middle class Latina was the most relevant. An awareness of the tensions inherent in research, and reflection on these tensions is important (McAullffe and Coleman, 2008, pg. 26). Being aware of my social location and following the ethics and protocol necessary in a research project, allowed me to be reflexive during my study. When making conclusions about my data to determine the narrative, I looked at how every research methodology contributed to the themes of my neighborhood. In the very act of constructing data out of experience, the qualitative researcher singles out some things as worthy of note and relegates others to the background (Wolcott, 1994, pg. 13). For the purpose of my paper, I chose to focus on two themes but that does not discredit the rest of my data. The two themes that appeared in all the data shared between my research team, were the ideas that Goose Hollow serves as an in between place for people trying to get from point A to point B and the active gentrification present in the neighborhood. To begin, I focused on participant observation methodology. The physical location and businesses of Goose Hollow makes it a convenient place for people to stop. The grab and go pizza place, Starbucks, corner store, and many modes of transportation make it a hub for commuters in their day to day life. When analyzing my group s data, a considerable amount of instances relating to transportation were observed. Ellen Koukel observed the MAX ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Why I Want To Be An Engineer Growing up, Math and science were always my favorite subjects. This led me to desire a career that incorporates these two subjects. As I furthered my education, I discovered I was very interested in engineering. Being able to learn new things and apply that new knowledge is something I have always enjoyed doing. The high job market, life flexibility, financial security and social impact are all reasons I have chosen to pursue a career in software engineering. One reason I want to be an engineer is I enjoy that kind of work. Problem solving is one major part of engineering, and something I have always enjoyed doing. If I enjoy the work I do, engineering will fell much less like a job , and make it much more enjoyable. I always knew I never wanted to have to wake up every morning to go to a job I hated. With engineering, I am ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Currently, engineers are needed in all parts of the world. Being able to find a job easier will reduce a great deal of stress that may come with other careers. On top of that, because engineers are need all over the world, it is a great way to be able to travel. Although it may not be as relaxing is taking a vacation and traveling, it would still be a great opportunity to see the world. For these reasons, I am motivated to pursue a career in the engineering field. For me, the most important attribute for being an engineer is life flexibility. Seeing the life flexibility my mother has with her engineering job showed me how critical flexibility is. Anytime there was an emergency, my mother was always able to make herself available due to the flexibility of her job. My mother is also able to do the majority of her work from home. Having the flexibility to be able to work from home is another reason life flexibility is on the top of my list. It s clear of who was responsible for his death because the murders themselves told people they were going to kill Santiago Nasar. They claim to have done it for their sister s honor, Angela Vicario, because she told her brothers, Pablo and Pedro Vicario, that Santiago Nasar took her virginity before she got married to Bayardo San Roman. Angela Vicario brought dishonor to her family name and it was Pablo and Pedro s duty to restore it. The main focus is Santiago Nasar s death and it s told from different points of views. It may not be accurate because for whatever reason the characters prevent the reader from gaining any new precise information about the actual day. For example when the narrator asked whether it was raining or not a mix of answers was given and it s still unclear. It s a simple question but the characters in this novel tend to keep secrets or contradict each other while remembering this tragedy. The reader can also take into account that it has been about twenty seven years since Santiago Nasar had died and it would be complicated to remember if it was raining or not twenty seven years ago. But one thing is for sure that the smell of Santiago Nasar still won t go away after all these years because of the blood shed is on everyone s hands. Years have gone by and yet they still smell and remember Santiago Nasar as he was. Whether he was innocent or not it was not proven. The Poisoner s Handbook By Deborah Blums Best Selling Book The film that I am reviewing, title The Poisoner s Handbook, is based on Deborah Blums best selling book, of the same title, which reflects on the most notorious cases between the years of 1918 and 1959 that were handled by Charles Norris, the chief medical examiner for New York City, also known and described by his peers as the father of forensic toxicology in America, and Alexander Oscar Gettler, toxicologist with the Office of Chief Medical Examiner of the City of New York, such as the fatal radium poisoning of the factory workers who contracted radiation poisoning from painting watch dials with self luminous paint at the Orange, New Jersey watch factory around the year 1917 and other cases that involve dangerous poisons, like arsenic, methanol, lead, carbon monoxide, denatured alcohol, radium and thallium. Their renowned work led to tougher regulations by the government and the creation of the Food and Drug Administration. The film depicts how the average American s medicine cabinet, in the early 1900s, was a treasure chest of dangerous poisons that could make you ill, put you in a coma, and even kill you. These poisons were readily found in health tonics, depilatory creams, teething medicine, and cleaning supplies. Scientists willing test these animals knowing that they are causing them harm but it is accepted because it is helping society as a whole. What does this say about the people testing the animals; do they have any morality, do they know what they are doing is wrong or do they feel as though they are doing it for the greater good? In beef alone, Americans consume around 24.1 billions pounds. Here, America is again though killing animals for our own use and benefits. Nietzsche believes that there are no morals and that everything we have been taught is anti natural. Nietzsche implied the morals that people associate with killing, testing, and eating animals are all antinatural. He stated; as it concerns for its own sake, and and not out of regard for the concerns, considerations, and contrivances of life, is a specific error with which one ought to have no pity. (Nietzsche 351) This explains how the people performing these acts of testing, abuse, eating, and killing are only listening to their animalistic instincts or they know that what they are doing is for the greater good. However, this is not the case, and when looking at the unique features associated with each ethnic group, it is easy to see the differences between them. All of the Latino/Hispanic ethnic groups have differences and this can even be heard in the dialect used to speak Spanish, such as the case when listening to Puerto Ricans and Mexicans speaking Spanish. In an effort to have a better understanding of elder Mexicans, this paper will look at the Mexican sub culture, and the features associated with the family dynamics, gender roles, acculturation patters, as well as religious contemporary issues such as taking care of an elder family member. We will examine ways to engage, assess, discuss ways of intervention, and review ways to ensure that effective evaluations are completed. In fact, focusing on this population as a whole is a relatively new concentration in regards to social work, so understanding the elder population is even more unknown. Foreign architects worked freely in the larger cities and the demand for private building was relatively high. This period was short lived as civil war wreaked havoc with the economy and infrastructure of the country. A major turning point for the profession, and the Russian people as a whole, was Act passed by the Bolsheviks, repealing the right for private ownership of urban real estate. Housing an 850 seat auditorium that could be divided up for multiple uses the building was, and still is used for in many ways by the community. Designed by Ilya Golosov, the building had his trademark style, with his simple use of volumes, such as the cylinder and cube etc. Refurbished in 1966, the building now looks tired, with poor restoration work hampering the striking presence an iconic piece of Soviet avant garde architecture. What I find most impressive about this building is glass cylinder used to house the spiral stair case. Another, if somewhat more famous, example of the soviet workers clubs, is the Rusakov club in Moscow. Built at the same time as the Zuyev, the Rusakov had an even more impressive presence to it. This means we would never reach today. Time began when the universe began. Events are caused. The beginning of the universe was an event. Therefore there must have been a cause, this first cause was God. William Lane Craig another 20th century philosopher till present argued that the universe cannot be infinite, because you cannot add to an actual infinite amount. Since the universe is finite =, it must have a beginning. Whatever exists must have a cause. Therefore the universe has a cause to its existence. If the world had a beginning it either came naturally or through personal choice. The laws of nature only existed when the world did. There were no natural causes to bring the world about. Therefore it cannot be that the world came due to random forces of nature. There must have been some personal agency involved. This personal agency must have existed outside of space and time. Therefore this personal agency is a translucent being; the cause of the universe must be a personal being who freely chooses to create the world. Leibniz explained the cosmological argument in terms of the principle of sufficient reason, the principle of sufficient reason states that nothing is without ground or reason. From a moral standpoint and my Christian faith, I strive to be a caring, loving person in all my social interactions. I try to display this when deemed appropriate to be an encouraging presence in a dark place. Therefore, it may seem odd for one such as myself to deny a hug from a youth that has been ripped from their family due to neglect and/or abuse. However, Rogers County Youth Services made me sign an ethical contract that specifically stated that I was restricted from hugging any of the residents in the shelter no matter what. Although my moral compass may lead me to disregard this statement in certain extreme scenarios, I have an obligation to conduct myself in an ethical, professional manner while interning. Software Networks With Predictive Emptive Certificate OLSR based key management in VANET networks with Predictive Preemptive Certificate Chaima BENSAID1 , BOUKLI HACENE Sofiane2 , FAROUAN Kamel mohamed3 1 2 3 Computer science department, Djillali Liabes University at Sidi bel abbes , Sidi Bel Abbes , Algeria Chaimaa184@hotmail.fr, boukli@gmail.com, kamel_mh@yahoo.fr Abstract A VANET network is a subset of ad hoc networks where each mobile node is an intelligent vehicle equipped with communication resources (sensor). The optimal goal is that these networks will contribute to safer roads and more effective in the future by providing timely information to drivers. They are therefore vulnerable to many types of attacks. Many proposals have been proposed to secure communication in VANETs. In this paper; we propose an approach to adopt a new method of distributing certificates in VANET. In Our proposal the cluster head acts as a virtual CA and issues certificates to cluster members. The main objective of our approach is to avoid making a new certificate request in case a node passes from a cluster to another. This approach has been evaluated by simulation study using the simulator network NS 2. Keywords PKI; VANET; CA; OLSR I. Instead of dreading the future without her husband, she saw beyond that bitter moment a long procession of years to come that would belong to her absolutely . She could now live her life and be absolutely free of the imposing will of her husband: There would be no one to live for her during the coming years; she would live for herself. There would be now powerful will bending hers in the blind persistence with which men and women believe they have a right to impose a private will upon a fellow creature.(15) Mrs. Mallard had, in that brief moment of illumination (15), stumbled upon a truth: she was now her own person, free from the confines of her husband. To Liza it is as natural as reading the Bible, death is something that is the inevitable. To Samuel however, dying is almost wrong to be any part of his life. When Mr. Trask was a young boy he was always held back and never really left the tiny space of his comfort zone, meanwhile his brother Charles was always seeking the attention and approval of others especially that of their father. Adam however, was never really a dark child, unless you recall his dark past. The one fear that should be on Lee s mind when he sees the darkness in Caleb is the darkness of Caleb s mother. There is also the possibility that that is the son of Charles because looking into his childhood Charles did anything and everything for his father s approval even risking the life of his elder brother. Charles and Cathy had one thing in common, they both loved the idea of chaos and violence, with that in mind and recalling that they did spend an intimate night together once when Cathy drugged Adam, it is more fact than fiction that Caleb is a different type of Trask boy and it will soon show. • 46. Semiotics And Interactive Design Of Black And White Essay Introduction For my Annotated Research Kit, I have explored Black and White (colours), semiotics and interactive design. The first keyword I have explored is Black and White. This is an illustration style that I have up until recently, been using in my studio work, and in my own personal practices as a graphic designer. Black and White also fits in with the culture of today s younger generation, in which their taste of visual style and graphic design preference fits in with my Black and White design style. On a similar level, I used Black and White in an animation advertisement for the New Zealand Safe Campaign. My intention of using a Black and White watercolour style was to make the animation appear simple and appealing. I combined the idea of black and white with a watercolour visual style to help bring about the sense of a natural and real animation story about the sad life of pig farming today. The second keyword I have explored is semiotics. Semiotics improves everyday life by simplifying matters and information through the interpretation of simple icons. Without this, people s everyday life would be much difficult than today as we naturally learn faster and better through visuals and imagery. My last keyword is interactive design, which is something that is always around us. From the way we interact with computers to apps from the Apple store to accessing the ATM and reading an online eBook. Ultimately, interactive design is about finding a solution to a ...
