Essay On Don Quixote
Don Quixote is considered the most influential work of literature. It has been around for more
than four hundred years. It is still being read and it is a work that is dear to many people s hearts.
The story is mainly about an older individual named Alonso Quixana who lives in La Mancha in
central Spain. After, he read thousands of book about knights he started to go insane and decides to
change his name to Don Quixote. So, when he finished all his books he started to believe that he
was one. In this piece Don Quixote experiences love, morality, law, justice and much more. But,
reality and fantasy are two major points in this story. This story is very much related in the 21st
century because in society today people who have big aspirations... Show more content on

Especially those who grew up not knowing how there life would turn out to be. A conflict that
has been going around in today s world is Dreamers those who have immigrant parents that were
brought to the United States in order to have a better life. These people s dreams have been
ruining more and more each day because there is little to no hope left in achieving those goals.
An impactful quote that was said in Don Quixote was, I do know who I am, and who is in my
depth has nothing to do with your ideas and with your expectations about me (book) What this
quote is trying to tell it s audience is that sometimes our highest most outrageous goals sometimes
seem untouchable and we get scared when other see us trying to reach that goal. The Scientific
Journal of Humanistic Studies states, Being something, someone, having an established identity is
comfortable, but becoming someone is risky (Cun 3). Having a dream isn t unhealthy or
dangerous nor is being imaginative either. But, the population tends to believe that if you are an
imaginative person you are going insane. Which is not the case, this is the reason why Don
Quixote de la Mancha became such a modern character. He was someone who desired to become
someone, and to be able to metamorphose the world in a more favorable way. At the time this book
was written reality and fantasy were two completely opposite terms, no one had ever thought to put
those two together. Cervantes sure made a bold

The Twentieth-Century Sparknotes
In chapter 1, the text was about the twentieth century world and the four themes play a role in this
world. The four themes show that history is not just facts after facts, but also all connected through
the themes. Global interrelatedness is the international connection between groups and the pattern
of this type of connection has evolved over the years; into globalization. Identity and difference;
formation of identity that is key to understanding the politics of the twentieth century and world
history in general, but also distinct ones make some an outcast of society. The rise of the mass
society has brought forth mass changes in industrialization, globalization, and changes in political
ideas; both good and bad. Technology vs nature, humans have been... Show more content on

They took with them their culture and technology, along with their plants, animals, and disease
causing pathogens, spreading them through the world.
Multistory farming a local knowledge of farming that still maintains productivity; hard won
science by experience. When different groups and cultures interact, the formation of identity and
differences appear. Why does politics get in the way of identities? When identities formed, they
are supposed to bring people together and not make some that do not fit in an outcast, labeling
them different or uncivilized. Europe s rise to power depends on this type of distinction, as did
Hilter s program. Most civilization has these types of distinctions and regard outsiders as
barbarians , but the uncivilized barbarians were not always disadvantaged. So, why bother to
classify them as something negative? They might have a better way of being productive, but just
because they are not the same they are classified. This happens a lot in this century, but there is
some resistance to this distinction. Where resistance did occur, leaders made it part of a coherent
nationalist agenda or the place have to create a new national

Audience Analysis Assignment
The assignment I chose to revise, is our first assignment of the semester. The audience analysis
assignment. I chose this one because I had the hardest time with it. It also had the most
grammatical and technical errors so I decided to go back and revise so I can get a better
understanding of what I did wrong and how to fix it for the next time.
Organization
The essay was a little unorganized and jumped around a lot, so after properly reviewing it I
realized that the essay needed to flow a little more so that the audience could get a simpler and
clearer understanding of the essay. Because, I did not use heading I need to be to appropriately
use the sections so that each one stood on its own and had a clear and precise subject on its own.
So, I went through and reread each section and ended up changing them around so that it flowed
smoother and had completed thoughts.
Completeness
Overall, the analysis was complete. It had a complete thought and theme that flowed throughout
the essay. However, because of the organization of the essay, it was somewhat lost in the jumble
of it all. I also noticed that in my subject choice, I failed to able to expand on the two websites
more because they were so limited in the information that they gave.

I didn t adjust the topic sentence issue and left that as it was. I realized that in several of my
paragraphs I had unnecessary words, or information that had nothing to do with that particular
paragraph. I had to go back and organize these paragraphs, I also noticed that they seemed kind
wordy. I tried to fix this by taking out some of the unnecessary words, which did help with keeping
the information centered on the topic of that particular paragraph. Most of my paragraphs were
short and sweet. Only one exceeded the rest and I couldn t find anything that I wanted to

The, The Land Of Opportunity
It is an old problem for societies, how to take care of and rehabilitate the downtrodden. America is
known as the land of opportunity : where anyone can make it no matter their nationality, color, or
sex. And while much of America aspires to, and many Americans achieve a life of relative
economic stability, there are those who, for various reasons, have not been so lucky. Despite the
numerous non profit, and governmental aid programs designed to assist and rehabilitate the
homeless, the homeless population continues to rise (according to a 2013 U.S. Mayors report, 52%
of surveyed cities reported growing homeless populations) (Cochran, 8). For those unfortunate
enough to find themselves without a home, clawing their way out of homelessnesson their own has
proven to be extremely difficult. Not only are the homeless at a disadvantage in the job
marketplace, but many homeless grow a strong connection to the homeless community that
welcomed them in upon landing on the street, and are reluctant to leave it, even if that means
remaining homeless. While the government and aid organizations are attempting to minimize the
crisis, past solutions either provide housing for the few lucky homeless, or they attempt to provide
jobs, but not both. Given the need for a package deal, one potential (yet underused) solution is the
creation of community run working towns which would be able to provide a strong incentive for
whole communities of homeless to move in and begin working, thus

Unit 2 M1
Assess the potential environmental impact of a proposed construction project on the local natural
environment.
Potential construction project for The City of Liverpool College LAX
Author: Matthew Ellis
Introduction:
I have been asked to put together a report for the potential construction project for The City Of
Liverpool College. The current site being looked at is on Roscoe Street. I will be discussing the
consequences which could occur to the buildings in proximity to the site location, and the people
who could be affected.
Body:
During this part of the report, I will be discussing what problems could occur during each phase (pre
construction, construction, post construction) and how you can go about preventing this from ...

Natural habitats:
A natural habitat is where a living being lives, for example, we live in our homes, birds live in
trees/nests. As this is a city, there isn t many places where animals can live. Birds can build the
nests and bats can live in buildings, but in terms of forestry for example, there isn t much for an
animal. So it isn t necessary to go into depth about this.
Construction:
During the construction phase, there will be a lot happening all over. This may vary from the
actual erecting of the building, to the transport of goods, to the extraction of materials needed, etc.
There will be a lot of damage done to the o zone layer, a lot of habitat and biodiversity destroyed,
amongst other things.
Transport of goods:
The transport of good is when materials that are needed for the building are transported to the
site, generally by vehicles. The problem with this is there would be a lot of materials needed to
supply this project. Nitrogen oxide is formed when the combustion of fuels takes place. Vehicles
use fuels (oil) as a source of power, which then releases nitrogen oxides into the atmosphere, which
is what is destroying our atmosphere. In the UK, this is the biggest pollutant we release. And it is
done mostly by cars.
Nitrogen oxide, when exposed over a long duration of time, can decrease lung function and also
increase the chance of getting bronchitis, cough or phlegm, which is more likely to come into

Archetypal Journey In Tim OBrien s On The Rainy Road
Morals, or a lack thereof, define the character of individuals. As Tim, the protagonist of On the
Rainy Road by Tim O Brien discovers, personal morals are difficult concepts to adhere to when
faced with challenging circumstances. Tim is a young man living in Minnesota, and by his own
admission, had the world dicked...summa cum laude... and a full ride scholarship for grad studies at
Harvard (O Brien). In an unfortunate turn of events, the army drafts Tim to fight in the Vietnam
War, something that he is staunchly against. Due to his beliefs against the war, Tim attempts to
leave his home and move to Canada, eventually coming back to fight after a period of self
reflection. Through this figurative journey , the author uses the fundamental plot archetype of the
journey from innocence to experience to demonstrate how adversity exposes the inherent human
flaws in even the best people. Tim s archetypal journey begins in his home in Minnesota, where his
naivety and resultant innocence are easily apparent through his personal opinions about morality.
The archetypal journey typically consists of five major steps, being; an innocent start in a familiar
environment, followed by a descent into danger and a battle with demons throughout which the
hero gains experience, ultimately ending with a return home (TVDSB). As Tim confesses, he had
taken a modest stand against the war , however he assumes that the problems of killing and dying
did not fall within my special province

Social Media Good Or Bad Essay
Have you ever had a good or bad experience with social media? Have you ever been a part of a
protest that was started on social media? I think that social media is a good thing because you
can have so much fun on it and even make friends on in. Without that you would be limited to
the kids in your neighborhood and in some places there are not a lot of kids that you can make
friends with or they do not live close so you have to drive there. That is all fixed with social
media. Like recently I have found some friends on social media that I play games with. They are
super nice and without social media I would have never had that experience I would have to
play be myself all the time and have no one to talk to. But now I have the chance to make friends
and have fun with them even tho they live far away. Also colleges and most jobs look at your
social media account to see what kind of person you are and if you are able to work so not only
can you have fun but you can also potentially make money from it and you can make friends.
Things like Facebook are so convenient to talk with friends or family without that we would need
to call them and that is just so much harder to do then... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

to be safe online and what to do if something bad hapens but the odds of that happening is very
small. Also people think that social media is a waste of time but that is not true becuse you can
learn so much online and find so many cool and interesting things about things you did not even
know existed. Also you can buy things online so you do not have to go look for it in a store and
have it not be there which is a big waste of time. With the web you can buy things that you know

Gangs and Organized Crime in the United States
Gangs and Organized Crime in the United States Criminal Justice Janaree Nagel 10/15/2011
Gangs and Organized Crime in the United States is on the rise. With the increase in turf wars,
position and the financial gains, gang wars and Organized Crime are linked together in many
ways. Within this paper, I will show how they are all tied together in. The M 13 s are the largest
reported gang controlling large areas of our states. However, the largest area to which the MS 13

Only when this social bond is weakened is crime likely to occur. He contended that this social
bond has four elements; Attachment, commitment, involvement and beliefs (Fuller 2006). In
the attachment, when children respect their parents, appreciate all that they do for them, they
are less likely to be involved in criminal activity. However, when they do not have the proper
guidance, lack of concern for their outside activities, they tend to stray, and seek out those who
show concern for them. Often it becomes a role model, a close friend, someone to which they
seek approval from. This becomes their attachment bond. In gangs, this often leads to the higher
authority, a person to which they look up too, to whom they want to become. The level of
commitment involves how far one will go to prove themselves. One is committed to a gang, to
which they consider all members family. People who have money, property, and good
reputations are committed to the social system that allowed them the opportunities for that
success (Fuller 2006). In a gang, being a member of a respected gang, means that they too will
have respect by those outside of the gang, and will often be in fear of your presence. As in the
MS 13, individuals who are quite familiar with this particular gang know that it is a matter of
survival of their own existence to cross a gang member; therefore, the ordinary citizen will be wise
to give way to the member. In the

The Terrorist Attacks On September 11
The terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 affected American perspectives on many issues,
including immigration. A total of 20 foreign terrorists were involved, 19 of whom took part in the
attacks that caused the deaths of 2,977 victims, most of them civilians. The terrorists had entered
the United States on tourist or student visas. Four of them, however, had violated the terms of their
visas. The attack exposed long standing weaknesses in the U.S. immigrationsystem that included
failures in the areas of visa processing, internal enforcement, and information sharing.[8]
The REAL ID Act of 2005 changed some visa limits, tightened restrictions on asylum applications
and made it easier to exclude suspected terrorists, and removed restrictions on building border
fences.
In 2005, Senators John McCain and Ted Kennedy revived the discussion of comprehensive
immigration reform with the proposal of the Secure America and Orderly Immigration Act,
incorporating legalization, guest worker programs, and enhanced border security. The bill was
never voted on in the Senate, but portions are incorporated in later Senate proposals.
In 2006, the House of Representatives and the Senate producing their own, conflicting bills. In
December 2005, the House passed the Border Protection, Anti terrorism, and Illegal Immigration
Control Act of 2005, which was sponsored by Rep. James Sensenbrenner (R WI). The act was
limited to enforcement and focused on both the border and the interior. In the

Four years later the fruits of this trade is still paying off for Boston. Boston has the number pick
in the draft, and they have so many options they can go with. Markelle Fultz Is the consensus
number 1 pick on most mock drafts boards. He has the potential to be so great that recent rumors
had Boston trading their current superstar Thomas in favor for Fultz. I think Fultz and Thomas
can coexist in the same backcourt, Fultz was a point guard in college, however I think he will
thrive in the NBA as shooting guard with everyone playing small ball. Fultz doesn t need
Thomas to create a shot for him, he can create his own shot off the dribble, and if Thomas is out
the game he can be the teams primary ball handler, and the second option on offense. Fultz fits into
the modern NBA because he shoots the three at a decent rate, and he can slash and attack the rim
like James Harden. If the Nets continue to struggle just like they did this year Boston might have

Charles Wesley Research Paper
Charles Wesley is mostly known as a Methodist hymn writer. However, he made many more
contributions to the Methodist movement than just hymns. He was the co creator of the
movement with his brother John. He was also a preacher, a leader, and a theologian, in addition
to a hymn writer. He is rarely considered separately from his brother, except concerning his
hymns. Assist Me to Proclaim: The Life and Hymns of Charles Wesley by John R. Tyson and
Charles Wesley and the Struggle for Methodist Identity by Gareth Lloyd attempt to change the
narrative by presenting Charles as separate from his brother and as more than just a hymn writer.

Whitefield was preaching predestination, the idea that God has already decided who is of the elect.
The Wesleys believed in unlimited atonement, the idea that God s forgiveness and grace are
available to everyone, not just a certain chosen few (Tyson 106 107). Charles viewed Whitefield
as a good godly man who was confused by false teachers and evildoers (Tyson 127 129). The two
friends agreed to disagree about the predestination issue and put their differences aside because of
their shared concern for ministry. This disagreement would result in two different types of
Methodism: Calvinist Methodism, who believed in predestination, and Wesleyan Methodists, who
believed in unlimited atonement (Tyson 114 115). Another issue concerning the Methodist
movement was that locals and Anglican ministers sometimes turned against the Wesleys. The
brothers, especially John, were accused of being papists, the only authority coming from the
Wesleys (Tyson 136). Mob violence was directed against the Methodists; the Methodists did not
retaliate, instead practicing nonviolence resistance. The persecution they felt would eventually
decrease though not disappear completely (Tyson

Marketing Is The Success Of A Business
(Mindtools.com, 2015) Putting the right product in the right place, at the right price, at the right
time . It s quite straightforward, you simply need to make an item that a specific group of
individuals need, put it or sell it somewhere where those same individuals visit consistently, and
value it at a level which coordinates the quality they understand they get of it; and do all at a time
they will all want to purchase it. At that point you have it made!
(Toolkit.smallbiz.nsw.gov.au, 2015)Marketingis integral to the success of a business, large or small,
with its primary focus on quality, consumer value and customer satisfaction.
There s a great deal of truth in this thought. In any case, a great deal of diligent work needs to go
into figuring out what clients need, and recognizing where they do their shopping. At that point
you have to make sense of how to deliver the product at a value that speaks to esteem to them, and
get it all to meet up at the basic time.
In any case, on the off chance that you get only one component wrong, it can spell catastrophe.
You could be left selling a car with great fuel efficiency in a nation where fuel is extremely cheap;
or distributed a textbook after the beginning of the new school year, or offering a product at a
value that is too high or too low to pull in the target audience.
The marketing mix is a desirable place to begin when you are thoroughly considering creating a

Marketing consists of all the activities to facilitate the exchange. Within this societal
perspective, then (1) the makers (2) what they are marketing and (3) their potential markets all
assume broad dimensions. The category of marketers might include, in addition to business
firms, such diverse social units as (a) a political party trying to market its candidate to the public
(b) the director of an art museum providing new exhibits to generate greater attendance and
financial support (c) a labor union marketing its idea to members and to company management;
and (d) professors trying to make their courses interesting for students. In addition to the range
of items normally considered as products and services, what is being marketed might include (a)
ideas such as reducing air pollution or contributing to the red cross (b) people, such as new

living near the university who may be affected by university activities and the alumni. A business

Numerous studies have been conducted on how price promotions have been proven to be profitable

Given the research between hi lo pricing, alternative pricing (SDD) and EDLP, There are 4 studies
that were used to examine the effectiveness of these tactics. In a theoretical framework, the first
study indicates steadily decreasing discounts generates higher future price expectations, leads to
greater anticipated inaction regret each of which affects purchase likelihood and generates more
revenue than hi lo or EDLP. The second study shows firsthand support that there are no negative
perceptions for employing SDD tactics effectiveness. Thirdly, the study examined the relativeness
of hi lo pricing to SDD tactics which resulted in revenues being higher when using SDD method.
Finally, in the fourth panel approach a scanner panel data was to uncover several instances of the
effectiveness of the SDD. This scanner allows companies for monitoring a number of stages in a

and Lenore were fighting. This covers for all three of them. Dupin was watched by Person while he
slept at the same time. Montresor was with Annabel in the purple room until 9:45 when she left,

The Raven claims he was in the Violet Room between 9:45 and ten, however, if you look at the
picture of the mansion you notice that the Violet room and the Black Room are the only two
room with windows open. This shows that the Raven could have easily left the Violet room to
kill Poe in just a matter of 15 minutes. This already incriminates the Raven as the murderer so
we are left with the question of what the murder weapon was. The only three possible weapons
are the bust of pallas, the eye dropper, and the cloth. However, we know automatically it wasn t
the cloth. If the cloth is the same cloth Lenore gave The Red Death to cough into, not only
would Poe show signs of the Red Death but the murderer would have been found dead as well.
As for the eyedropper, it could have been used to intoxicate Poe, with poison. But after finding the
vile of poison in Annabel Lee s room completely sealed, it s safe to say that the eye dropper was
most definitely not the murder weapon. This leaves us with the bust of

Unknown Organic Compounds Lab Report
Identification of Unknown Organic Compounds by Melting Point, Boiling Point, Infrared and
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy Background and Method In the previous labs we were
experimenting with different methods so that we can find different physical properties of the
known compound. However, this lab report is a little different as it gives us two unknown
compounds where we have to use the prior knowledge we have gotten in the other labs to ensure
that we know exactly how to ultimately find the correct molecular structure of the unknown
compounds. Therefore in this lab, we had to perform elemental analysis, boiling point, infrared
(IR), Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopies (NMR) and melting point. Thus, the main
objective of this lab was to ensure that the students knew how apply the techniques from the
previous labs and interpret the spectroscopy data to formulate the correct structure of the
compound. We were assigned G and H. G was the solid and H was the liquid unknown compound.
That being said the first step was the elemental analysis. Thus, the very first step was the

also it helps in figuring out the melting point of the purer substances, sharper melting points

the molecule and intermolecular forces (Online Labs). Melting point was measured using the
melting point apparatus. That being said it is very important to ensure that there is minimal
impurities or the apparatus is not overly heated, this will lead to inaccurate data as it will give the

Summary Of The Poem Sailing To Byzantium
Sailing to Byzantium
W.B. Yeats poem Sailing to Byzantium presents his concerned about the progression of time and
how someone can become eternal. Yeats lived from 1865 to 1939; so this poem, which was
composed in 1926 at age 60, which reflects his fear about aging and becoming immaterial. The
narrator of this poem seems concerned with the idea of the human condition, that we are born,
we live, and then we die . The narrator seeks out a place where he will be able to join the
monuments of history, so that he could survive endlessly. He emphasized a deeper journey of an
old man seeking to escape the idle and uneducated society of Europe. Thereafter, the poet sails to a
place called Byzantium, the ancient name for current day Istanbul. He chose Byzantium, because
of its well known history, a place of paradise and the only place where art and man can become a
single body. Thus, he hopes that by becoming an artificial object himself, he can setback the human
condition.
The first stanza of the poem references the impermanence of the natural world, and the fact that
everything must one day meet an end. In the sentence That is no country for old men, the word that
indicates both Ireland and natural world in general. He depicted the country he left behind, as full
of young people, birds, and fish, but he knew that whatever is begotten, born, and dies . The young

Recent Advances in the Study of Protein Misfolding Diseases
Protein misfolding diseases include highly debilitating degenerative disorders like Alzheimer s and
Parkinson s diseases. The healthcare and financial burden linked to these pathologies has been
steadily increasing over the past decade. Actually, there is currently no efficient treatment for
misfolding diseases as well as no reliable early diagnostic techniques for them, in most cases. It is
known that, in many cases, the cytotoxic effect of misfolded proteins is exerted through their self
assembly into amyloid like protein aggregates. Unfortunately, the mechanisms responsible for the
toxicity of protein aggregates are still not completely understood. The number of protein targets
whose misfolding and aggregation is being shown to be associated with the onset of pathologic
conditions is constantly increasing. Since the development of degenerative disorders is expected to
increase at a similar rate than life expectancy, it is likely that in the years to come misfolding
diseases would become more common and prevalent than previously thought. We should be
prepared to deal with such a dramatic scenario and join research efforts to understand the molecular
mechanism that underlie these devastating disorders without further delay. In this book, we
highlight recent advances in the study of protein misfolding disorders and their protein targets, but
we also describe how different organisms exploit the amyloid fold for the functional and dynamic
assembly of biological structures.

Vision and values
Leithwood and Jantzi argue the ability to articulate a clear vision is an essential attribute for school
leaders (2008, p. 507). Goal setting is a powerful motivator for change and when leaders are able to
clearly communicate inspiration vision to those they lead, it is possible to harness this motivation
to bring about school improvement in student learning (Leithwood Jantzi, 2008, p.507). Clearly
defined goals encourage school community to contribute to common goals and also streamlines
decision making as only options that align with the vision need to be considered (Hallinger, 2010,
p.129).
When discussing research into high performing schools, Matthews argues, Clear pupil centred
vision and purpose ensured pupils reached their potential. Maximising young people s well being
and achievements was at the heart of these schools (2010, p.9). The inclusion of vision in the
APSP is substantiated by research evidence gathered for at least the last 40

Ethical Decisions In The Workplace
We, as individuals, face ethical decisions everyday whether it be for our job or within ourselves.
I currently am facing an ethical dilemma myself. My boss has asked me to balance the books
for the company by tomorrow morning. He has a meeting in the afternoon with the board to
discuss the numbers, so I know I can not be late, however, there is a complication with my
calculations. I can not get the book to balance out. I am scared that my boss will get fired if he
does not have the numbers on time. Consequently, I must make a decision on how I am going to
get correct numbers to my boss by tomorrow morning.
There are so many options and directions I could go to solve this problem. I have chosen to
solve my issue by going back through each month to ensure that all the amounts balance out. I
understand this will take a great deal of time, but it is crucial to find where I made a mistake.
First, I will make sure that all of the amounts are placed in the correct category. For example, I
want to ensure that money used for rent is credited from cash in bank and debited in rent expense.
After I do that, I should be able to check if the debits and credits equal each other. One major
element to accounting that I have learned is that your credits and debits should always equal each
other and if they do not, then you have made a mistake ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Doing the right thing may not always be the easiest, but that should not change anything. I am
not 100 percent certain if I will get the book to balance out by tomorrow morning, but I do know
that no matter what I will take responsibility for my work whether it be bad or good. If I do the
right thing, then I can at least walk away knowing that I did not cheat to win, instead I failed, yet I
can use this failure as a learning experience. Overall, taking responsibility, in my opinion, is the
most ethical decision I can make, therefore, that is what I will

How Water Quality Is Important For The Health Of The...
Water quality is important to consider for streams, especially in an urban setting. It is important
to understand water quality not only for the health of the ecosystem, but also for humans who
drink the water and use the water for recreational purposes. In the city, it is difficult to maintain
adequate water quality standards because of factors like excessive pollutants from road runoff,
sediments, nutrients, and organic waste. The water levels are often sporadic and will vary by
land use such as a parking lot versus a park. A way to combat this problem is to manage or restore
the riparian zone by adding vegetation, encouraging infiltration, and reducing runoff rates. Five
sites in Austin, Texas were sampled, assessed, and analyzed to... Show more content on

The Colorado River
The Colorado River had the highest water quality of all tested sites. The dissolved oxygen at
this site was 8.92 mg/L and could be attributed to a number of different reasons (Table 1). The
sample was taken when the sun was high and water dwelling plants had been photosynthesizing
for a number of hours. The water was flowing fairly quickly and there was a small riffle at the
area where the reading was taken which could have increased dissolved oxygen of the water. The
river had a rocky gravel bottom which provided plenty of habitat for the macroinvertebrates that
reside in the river. The variety of macroinvertebrates that were found were indicators of high water
quality; species included caddisflies, mayflies, stoneflies, and dragonfly larvae. The
macroinvertebrates were all very large specimens, indicating a healthy environment and plenty of
resources to support their growth.
The site examined was downstream of the Hornsby Bend Biosolids Plant. The high water quality
at the Colorado River site could be partially attributed to the Plant s ability to sanitize and reuse
wastes and prevent contamination through leakages of unclean water. The water at the Colorado
River site was cool despite only mediocre tree cover. The flow was quick in thinner parts of the
river and slowed when it widened out, giving

Unification of Italy and Germany Essay
Unification of Italy and Germany
By 1871 both the kingdom of Italy and the empire of Germany were united. Even though both
countries used popular trends to that time, both liberalism and nationalism, the process unifying
these two countries was very different. The end result was Germany emerging as a strong nation
and Italy appropriately, the weaker.
Italy s problems started with the fact that it didn t have one main ruler, but two people and a
concept, resulting in a different approach to the unification. Gulseppe Mazzini had a radical
program focusing on a centralized democratic republic based on universal suffrage and the will of
the people. Vincenzo Gioberti, who was a catholic priest called for a federation of existing states ...

Despite the fact that Italy was unified, it wasn t as nearly as strong as Germany was becoming.

The Tax Rate Of The United States
1.Imagine a friend says that he doesn t want to take a job that pays slightly more money only
because he will be bumped into the next tax bracket and end up taking home less income after
taxes. Based on the video Engager you watched in Unit 2, how would you advise this friend?
Define marginal tax rates. Then, explain why taxrates in the United States were designed to be
marginal.
вћўA progressive tax, which the friend would be under in this situation, is one in which those
with the highest incomes pay the higher tax rate (Video Engager 2). I would advise this friend
to take a closer look at the situation; just because he is earning more money does not necessarily
mean he will lose more of what he earns to taxes. Instead, different safety features are built into
the process to ensure that those who earn more are not prevented from working harder or getting
a promotion. For example, those with a higher income can be incentivized through tax breaks
from giving to charity or even saving for retirement (Video Engager 2). These benefits encourage
those in the higher income brackets to continue to be motivated to earn more. In addition, the tax
rates on higher income are marginalized. Marginal tax rates mean that a high earner will only pay
the higher tax on the portion of money that is above the tax bracket. In other words, everyone will
pay the same percentage of tax on the first bracket of income, any income above that bracket will
be taxed at a slightly higher rate, and

The Age of Enlightenment is one of the turning points in the human history, which affected the

However, some believe that fares may also rise, as any open skies treaty would yield massive
consolidation among European airlines and lower the number of competitors in the marketplace
(Michaels, 2003, p.A3).
To get around national laws and regulatory problems, airlines have formed global alliances such as
Star (United Airlines and Lufthansa), Oneworld (American Airlines, British Airways, etc.), and
SkyTeam (Delta Air Lines, Air France, and AeroMexico). Through such alliances, airlines benefit
from each other s resources, which include additional routes and marketing strategies as well as
code sharing agreements, without incurring the high costs of expansion. The costs involved with
increased security precautions and route changes will force the airlines to examine their agreements
and consider expansions of the same. For customers, airline alliances offer broader frequent flier
programs, streamlined travel, and simplified systems for purchasing tickets, but those benefits may
do little to allay passenger concerns regarding safety.
Advances in communication technology have also played a role in the airline industry s recent
troubles. Advances such as video conferencing, internet chat and internet telephones allow firms to
conduct business without having their executives get on the plane and visit their customer s site.
Further, coast to coast business class era has become a thing of the past. Businesses are currently

The Knight portrays what every man, woman and child must inevitably decide on: to expose their

The Role Of The Manorial System In Medieval Europe
The manor system and the lady of the manor both had significant roles in medieval Europe and
helped Europe s economy survive after the fall of the Roman Empire. The manor system, also
referred to as manorialism, developed after the fall of the Roman Empire when, without any
centralized government to run everyone, people felt a lack of security, especially serfs. Serfs
eventually graduated back to the land they once worked because the did not know where else to
go. As agricultural developments such as the three field system and the iron plow arose, people
started to realize how valuable manors were, and they started to pop up around medieval Europe.

Gentrification And Displacement Essay
Gentrification and displacement is not talked about as much as other social problems.
Gentrification happens when rich people come to urban communities and change the
socioeconomic and cultural characteristics of a community. Gentrification around the world is
mainly happening in poor urban communities. The comparison of the Netherlands, London and
Vancouver will explain cultural, social, and political displacement caused by the new age of urban

neighborhoods, and the low income residents are forced out. With an increase in social economic

Gentrification is a problem that every country and city has experience rather they know it or not.
Countries are affected by this process and many of its civilians are left with nowhere to call their
home. Communities where they once lived turn into places they ve never seen before. To be forced
out of their own communities is only hurting the economic system of that city and/or country. The
people that are being displaced are minorities and being forced out their community is killing their
cultural. The residents will not be able to raise their children the same way they were brought up.
For example, going outside and playing with the neighborhood children. The minorities that are
getting kicked out will not able to stick together as a whole when moving to a different location.
Each resident might move to different countries or cities as a final resort where prices of rent or
mortgage will be lower. Some solutions that countries can use to limit or exterminate gentrification

not have the proper income to continue living in the communities once the government or other
companies step in and attempt to renovate the community. Another solution to this social problem

A Journal of the Plague Year Critique
A Journal of the Plague Year is a first person account of what it was like living through the times
of the plague. It recollects stories and other accounts of plague times heard by and collected by

plague of their ways of life and culture. Tells of tales of survivors of the plague but mostly off
different tales of deaths and how they died in many outrageous and tragic ways of people killing
their families, themselves, or masses of people. The whole journal is filled with collections of
stories, but also with charts showing the deaths in different parishes and how they change as the

Author Daniel Defoe wrote this journal to document his story of the plague along with others so
that he may share his account with future readers. He wanted people to hear his story and
recollection of the plague so that readers may learn about this epidemic straight through his journal.

and what the results of the plague was after it had infected them. Daniel wanted to show his own

The Consequences of Preterm Birth
Preterm birth is defined as the birth of a baby before 37 weeks gestation age. The stages of
preterm can be subdivided into different stages. Very Preterm is 20 32 weeks, Moderately
Preterm is 33 36 weeks, Early Term is 37 38 weeks gestation stage. According to the statistics
gathered by the World Health Organisation (WHO) (2015) in 2012, there are more than 1 in 10
babies born preterm every year with an estimated 15 million born preterm every year. There are a
wide variety of factors that cause preterm birth, examples including: a multiple pregnancy,
substance abuse and smoking, assisted reproduction and a low socio economic status. Studies have

the dark energies. These tattoos are placed near places on the body deemed to be vulnerable to evil;
they were placed around the eyes, mouth, nose, belly button, and vagina. The tattoos are intended
to protect against illnesses and spirts; for example, tattoos placed on the feet defend against
possession from evil spirits (Krutak). For Algerian women tattoos signified healing and fertility,
along with beauty, and female identity (Bendaas). Tattoos may have also been used to identify
oneself as belonging to a certain tribe, displaying bravery and celebrating big life events. This
source also claimed that women used tattoos to make themselves beautiful to the men in their tribe
while deterring attention from men of other tribes. The author noted that Iranian men used tattoos
to demonstrate strength and masculinity, but reports of this phenomenon were rare in my research
(Laura). In fact, a different source

Diversity In Children s Literature
I believe that books have one of the greatest influences on children when they are growing up.
There are many different genres of books and they all have something different to teach and offer
to children. For example, picture books and fictional stories spark imagination in children and teach
them creativity while, non fiction and stories incorporating diversity, teach children about a certain
topic and help broaden their horizons. Keeping the importance of all the different genres of books
in mind, I chose two articles from the Journal of Children s Literature pertaining to this subject. The
name of the first article I read is, Drawing Stories, WritingPictures: Readingand Composing
Multimodally in Storying Studio, written by Prisca Martens. This article discusses the significance
of picturebooks and how the illustrations enhance the writing and make the stories come alive.
Martens also mentions a project that she is working on called, Storying Studio. According to
Martens, Storying Studio honors and values multiple ways of composing meaning,... Show more

Koss. This article discussed the highlights of the 2015 Children s Literature Assembly, which
focussed mostly on the need and importance of books revolving around and about diversity. The
article mentioned that all children need to be able to see themselves represented in books. If a
child can not find a book that they relate to or feel represented in, it can have a negative impact
on their self image. When a child reads a book and can see themselves in a character, it shows the
child that they are not alone and that there are other people just like them. The article mentioned
that diversity in books is crucial because it teaches children about other people and their different
situations. Books featuring diversity also makes sure that children read out of their comfort

The Disregard Of Life During War
The Disregard for Human Life during War Times The quality of life for soldiers of war has
decreased and basic necessities are lost. The value of civilian lives is also lost in the disputes
between two countries. An example of this is, Something was being burned there. A truck drew
close and unloaded its hold: small children. Babies! Yes, I did see this, with my own eyes...
children thrown into the flames (Wiesel 33). The above quote from Night by Elie Wiesel
represents the disregard of life and the horrors that can be seen in times of war. Many wonder
why war changes the value of human lives. Why does war have the power to choose if your life
is worth keeping? The quality of life decreases in times of war therefore showing the realities of
war and the toll it takes on the soldiers and civilians involved. Conflicts such as the American
Revolution, the Civil War, World War One, World War Two and the Vietnam War all share
common characteristics. Throughout each of these wars the quality of life has decreased because
of the demands and needs for soldiers and civilians. Examples of these poor conditions can be seen
in journals, letters, propagandaposters, photographs, speeches, essays and songs. These examples
prove that the soldiers in these wars lost many of the activities that many take for granted. It also
shows how surviving life outside of the fighting is just as hard as the war itself. This further proves
that war is a serious matter and should not be taken lightly.

Big Business And Conservation Activism
The struggle between providing for California s burgeoning population and the corresponding
increase pressure on California s ever shrinking pristine natural wonders and natural resources
has been a constant clash between the forces of big business and conservation activism.
However, the outcomes of these many battles have increasingly favored the side of economics
over nature. The trend that becomes clear is that the will of the businessmen have been prevailing
over the concerns of the conservationists more and more. What are the forces that are pushing the
pendulum closer and closer towards the desires of industry? By examining the history of this
conflict between these two factions, it will become clear how one has had progressively more of
an advantage over the other. Today, the main reason that industry s goals almost always prevails
over conservation s efforts is economics and what an advantage in economics can buys one
politically. Economic interests will predominately have ever increasing priority over environmental
interest as long as money is considered speech and corporations are people; therefore, the most
pragmatic solution that would allot conservation groups with an equal voice in the political process
with business is to call for an Article V Constitutional Convention to pass an amendment to
permanently get money out of politics nationwide. During a time before money was protected as
political speech, conservation groups had a somewhat even footing

Oedipus The King By Sophocles
Oedipus the King, written by Sophocles, follows the tragic story of a king named Oedipus who
goes from an all powerful ruler to a hopeless blind peasant. Oedipus the King was written as a play
and performed in front of an audience. Sophocles shows in Oedipus the King that one cannot escape
the fate of the gods. Throughout the play Oedipusstruggles to find a solution and change all the
troubles in his life. The play observes the story of Oedipus who defies the gods and through the
journey experiences hardships in tragic flaw, tragic fall and tragic realization. Tragic flaw would
be considered the negative aspect which influences the character. Teiresias, who is a blind prophet
warns Oedipus of his horrible fate and Oedipus tells him Your life is one long night so that you
cannot hurt me or any other who sees the light (Sophocles1747). In this exchange Oedipus believes
that he is all powerful and nothing can hurt him which shows his arrogance. Oedipus s arrogant
behavior will end up costing him greatly as he continues through the story as if nothing can harm
the king. Oedipus accuses Creonfor his problems and Creon tells the citizens of Thebes what he
believes, Citizens, I have come because I heard deadly words spread about me, That the king
accuses me. I cannot take that from him (Sophocles 1751). Oedipus s arrogance spreads deep into
his psychological thinking as he continues to believe that he cannot make mistakes and blames
others. Jocasta, Oedipus s wife

Growing Up In The Central African Republic
I grew up in the Central African Republic which is one of the poorest and most dangerous
countries in the world. The violence grew every day and led to much suffering of innocent people.
There education has been forgotten, children. Because I saw these things, and I want to do
something to help other people and make things better. Now, I saw all of the opportunities that
Americans have and often take for granted. I saw this in a simple thing like voting. The Civil
Rights movement and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. fought for this right and yet people today tend
not to vote as often they should. The of the reason with this is the lack of education to be able to
understand the program. I am applying for an internship at African Community Education

Esperanza Rising Short Story
Mexican immigrants in the United States faced difficult challenges daily such as discrimination,
lower wages, and hatred. The book Esperanza Rising is by American writer Pam Munoz Ryan.
Esperanza is a Mexican girl at the age of thirteen, and she had to leave her home in Mexico to
come to the United States as an immigrant. She had to leave because of her greedy uncles. Even
though Esperanza s life was full of challenges, as an immigrant the harshest challenges were not
knowing how to do daily chores, having to go work in the sheds to pay mamaВґs medical bill, and
facing discrimination due to her skin tone. The fact that Esperanza did not know how to do
daily chores because she always had servants, shows her harsh new life as an immigrant. The
first challenge Esperanza faced was not knowing how to sweep the platform. Esperanza had to
sweep the platform to lower the rent her family paid for the house. She did not come from a
family that did their chores they always had servants, therefore she never had to learn how to
sweep. She got made fun of by Marta a striker when she tried to sweep the platform. On page 116
and 117 is states that, ВЁIn her entire life, Esperanza had never held a broom in her hand... A
group of women were pointing and laughing at her. And in the middle of them was Marta,
pointing.ВЁ Esperanza ran home and Miguel taught Esperanza how to sweep as stated on page
118, ВЁ `How would you know how to sweep a floor? The only thing that you learned was how to

Urinary Frequency
Urinary frequency can be defined as the necessity to urinate multiple times throughout the day
including night (nocturia). Simply stated urinary frequency is voiding at abnormally brief intervals
within a 24 hour period1. Additionally, urinary frequency has also been described as urinating
more than usual. Typically adults will urinate 4 6 times per day2. There have been surveys and
diary studies in the United States and Europe that state the upper limit for bouts of urination is eight
times per 24 hour period3. Every case should be evaluated thoroughly and urinating eight times per
day does not necessitate the need to seek medical attention. If urinary frequency is causing a bother
than medical attention is acceptable. The patient may... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The patient may complain of lower extremity weakness, spinal cord damage, fever, back pain,
flank pain, increased appetite, and excessive thirst. Discharge from the vagina/ penis and/ or
sudden weight loss is also red flag responses. The physical exam will focus on the genitourinary
(GU) system. Important findings to look for are any discharge or lesions consistent with sexually
transmitted infections. In males, the size of the prostate gland should be noted in the rectal
examination. In females, any signs of a cystocele and urinary leakage from the urethra should be
noted in the pelvic examination. Neurological examination should test for lower extremity
weakness and loss of sensation. Once it has been determined that further workup is needed there are
certain labs and procedures that can be ordered. All patients will require a urinalysis and culture that
can easily be performed to rule out infection and/ or hematuria. Cytoscopy, cystometry, and
urethrography can be used to determine if there is presence of cystitis, bladder outlet obstruction,
and cystocele.2 In males, prostate specific antigen (PSA) level determination, ultrasonography, and
prostate biopsy may be required to distinguish between benign prostatic hyperplasia and prostate

A Research Study On School Psychology
I have always pictured myself working with children, for as long as I can remember. Thus, for the
proposed career group project (part 1), my group presented information on the child life specialist
profession. However, after much thought, I have decided to change my emphasis from child life to
child development and pursue a career as a school psychologist, once I graduate. School psychology
is a wide ranging practice and health service provider concerned with offering an assortment of
psychological diagnosis, assessments, and interventions, et cetera to all learners (i.e. children,
youth and families) (American Psychological Association (APA), (2015). The educational
requirements, as described by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), consists
of the completion of a 60 graduate semester specialist level program in school psychology plus a
1200 hour internship, for a majority of states (2015). Therefore, upon receiving my bachelor s
degree in child and family development, I plan to attend a graduate program that meets the NASP
standards for approval, and as stated by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (2015), clinical, counseling,
and school psychologists earn an annual median of $74,030.
What Are the Personal Philosophy, Values, and Beliefs? I feel as if school psychology is a great
fit for me. It will allow me to provide counseling and support for those students facing emotional
distress and/or difficulties that may affect their academic performance.

Essay on The Anglo-saxon Literature
In the Anglo Saxon literature, the scop has a privilege of retaining history, culture and social
values of that society. In many cases the scop exercises the power to create stories which reflect
the values of that society. The Rood in the ВЎВ°The Dream of the RoodВЎВ± also tells a story of
which affects its society and people. The existence of this witness that reports the sufferingand the
glorification of Christ proves necessary for the people to believe. The Rood becomes a herothat
preserves an event that proves crucial to the society. As the Rood observes the suffering of Christ,
it also shares with him the pains of crucifixion. In other words, the Rood takes part in ChristВЎВЇs

The consequence of their loyalty leads the warriors of the Maldon to death. Likewise, the Rood
also follows Christ in his suffering and to his death. It states, ВЎВ°standing in a sweat of blood/ I
was all wounded with shaftsВЎВ±(The Rood, 57). Indeed, that ВЎВ°sweat of bloodВЎВ± belongs
to the Rood and its ВЎВ°woundedВЎВ± body identifies with that of the ChristВЎВЇs. In fact,
while having the knowledge of the inevitable tragedy, the heroes of the Anglo Saxon literature
neglects to heed to their fear of death. What defines a hero in this period pertains to facing the
ВЎВ°wierd.ВЎВ± Rather than a resignation in giving up their lives, they participate actively in
order to live out their given role, to fulfill what they have promised to do. Indeed, the heroes of the
Maldon are ВЎВ°fated [to] fallВЎВ±(Maldon, 4). In the face of their inevitable doom, these heroes
state ВЎВ°in right good time dost thou recall us to our allegianceВЎВ±(Maldon,232). This
ВЎВ°allegianceВЎВ± to serve the lord cannot be forfeited even when the lord no longer lives.
Regardless of the tragic consequences, these heroes choose to suffer. The Rood indicates, ВЎВ°wry
wierds a many I underwentВЎВ± in revealing its active role in its fate (The Rood, 56). The Rood
states that ВЎВ°[it] underwent],ВЎВ± have chosen to suffer with Christ.

Ship Of Theseus Analysis
Ship of Theseus In terms of the ship of Theseus, I think that yes it has become a different ship
than it was before because there is no constant in the ship. Completely new wood is added that
has nothing to do with the materials from the old ship, (no DNA like in humans). It is purely an
inanimate object with no soul or anything other than its physical aspect which was promptly
being replaced. Well I hope i m not the same person I was a decade ago, because that means I am
still acting the same as a six year old. Physically my cells are dying and being replaced by new ones
but it holds the same DNA and you can see that on anyone s face. Naturally, your face does not
completely change so severely that you look like a whole different person.

  • 2. Essay On Don Quixote Don Quixote is considered the most influential work of literature. It has been around for more than four hundred years. It is still being read and it is a work that is dear to many people s hearts. The story is mainly about an older individual named Alonso Quixana who lives in La Mancha in central Spain. After, he read thousands of book about knights he started to go insane and decides to change his name to Don Quixote. So, when he finished all his books he started to believe that he was one. In this piece Don Quixote experiences love, morality, law, justice and much more. But, reality and fantasy are two major points in this story. This story is very much related in the 21st century because in society today people who have big aspirations... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Especially those who grew up not knowing how there life would turn out to be. A conflict that has been going around in today s world is Dreamers those who have immigrant parents that were brought to the United States in order to have a better life. These people s dreams have been ruining more and more each day because there is little to no hope left in achieving those goals. An impactful quote that was said in Don Quixote was, I do know who I am, and who is in my depth has nothing to do with your ideas and with your expectations about me (book) What this quote is trying to tell it s audience is that sometimes our highest most outrageous goals sometimes seem untouchable and we get scared when other see us trying to reach that goal. The Scientific Journal of Humanistic Studies states, Being something, someone, having an established identity is comfortable, but becoming someone is risky (Cun 3). Having a dream isn t unhealthy or dangerous nor is being imaginative either. But, the population tends to believe that if you are an imaginative person you are going insane. Which is not the case, this is the reason why Don Quixote de la Mancha became such a modern character. He was someone who desired to become someone, and to be able to metamorphose the world in a more favorable way. At the time this book was written reality and fantasy were two completely opposite terms, no one had ever thought to put those two together. Cervantes sure made a bold ... • 3. The Twentieth-Century Sparknotes In chapter 1, the text was about the twentieth century world and the four themes play a role in this world. The four themes show that history is not just facts after facts, but also all connected through the themes. Global interrelatedness is the international connection between groups and the pattern of this type of connection has evolved over the years; into globalization. Identity and difference; formation of identity that is key to understanding the politics of the twentieth century and world history in general, but also distinct ones make some an outcast of society. The rise of the mass society has brought forth mass changes in industrialization, globalization, and changes in political ideas; both good and bad. Technology vs nature, humans have been... Multistory farming a local knowledge of farming that still maintains productivity; hard won science by experience. When different groups and cultures interact, the formation of identity and differences appear. Why does politics get in the way of identities? When identities formed, they are supposed to bring people together and not make some that do not fit in an outcast, labeling them different or uncivilized. Europe s rise to power depends on this type of distinction, as did Hilter s program. Most civilization has these types of distinctions and regard outsiders as barbarians , but the uncivilized barbarians were not always disadvantaged. So, why bother to classify them as something negative? They might have a better way of being productive, but just because they are not the same they are classified. This happens a lot in this century, but there is some resistance to this distinction. Where resistance did occur, leaders made it part of a coherent nationalist agenda or the place have to create a new national ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Audience Analysis Assignment The assignment I chose to revise, is our first assignment of the semester. The audience analysis assignment. I chose this one because I had the hardest time with it. It also had the most grammatical and technical errors so I decided to go back and revise so I can get a better understanding of what I did wrong and how to fix it for the next time. Organization The essay was a little unorganized and jumped around a lot, so after properly reviewing it I realized that the essay needed to flow a little more so that the audience could get a simpler and clearer understanding of the essay. Because, I did not use heading I need to be to appropriately use the sections so that each one stood on its own and had a clear and precise subject on its own. So, I went through and reread each section and ended up changing them around so that it flowed smoother and had completed thoughts. Completeness Overall, the analysis was complete. It had a complete thought and theme that flowed throughout the essay. However, because of the organization of the essay, it was somewhat lost in the jumble of it all. I also noticed that in my subject choice, I failed to able to expand on the two websites more because they were so limited in the information that they gave. Style ... • 5. The, The Land Of Opportunity It is an old problem for societies, how to take care of and rehabilitate the downtrodden. America is known as the land of opportunity : where anyone can make it no matter their nationality, color, or sex. And while much of America aspires to, and many Americans achieve a life of relative economic stability, there are those who, for various reasons, have not been so lucky. Despite the numerous non profit, and governmental aid programs designed to assist and rehabilitate the homeless, the homeless population continues to rise (according to a 2013 U.S. Mayors report, 52% of surveyed cities reported growing homeless populations) (Cochran, 8). For those unfortunate enough to find themselves without a home, clawing their way out of homelessnesson their own has proven to be extremely difficult. Not only are the homeless at a disadvantage in the job marketplace, but many homeless grow a strong connection to the homeless community that welcomed them in upon landing on the street, and are reluctant to leave it, even if that means remaining homeless. While the government and aid organizations are attempting to minimize the crisis, past solutions either provide housing for the few lucky homeless, or they attempt to provide jobs, but not both. Given the need for a package deal, one potential (yet underused) solution is the creation of community run working towns which would be able to provide a strong incentive for whole communities of homeless to move in and begin working, thus ... Potential construction project for The City of Liverpool College LAX Author: Matthew Ellis Introduction: I have been asked to put together a report for the potential construction project for The City Of Liverpool College. The current site being looked at is on Roscoe Street. I will be discussing the consequences which could occur to the buildings in proximity to the site location, and the people who could be affected. As this is a city, there isn t many places where animals can live. Birds can build the nests and bats can live in buildings, but in terms of forestry for example, there isn t much for an animal. So it isn t necessary to go into depth about this. Construction: During the construction phase, there will be a lot happening all over. This may vary from the actual erecting of the building, to the transport of goods, to the extraction of materials needed, etc. There will be a lot of damage done to the o zone layer, a lot of habitat and biodiversity destroyed, amongst other things. Transport of goods: The transport of good is when materials that are needed for the building are transported to the site, generally by vehicles. The problem with this is there would be a lot of materials needed to supply this project. Nitrogen oxide is formed when the combustion of fuels takes place. Vehicles use fuels (oil) as a source of power, which then releases nitrogen oxides into the atmosphere, which is what is destroying our atmosphere. In the UK, this is the biggest pollutant we release. And it is done mostly by cars. Nitrogen oxide, when exposed over a long duration of time, can decrease lung function and also increase the chance of getting bronchitis, cough or phlegm, which is more likely to come into ... • 7. Archetypal Journey In Tim OBrien s On The Rainy Road Morals, or a lack thereof, define the character of individuals. As Tim, the protagonist of On the Rainy Road by Tim O Brien discovers, personal morals are difficult concepts to adhere to when faced with challenging circumstances. Tim is a young man living in Minnesota, and by his own admission, had the world dicked...summa cum laude... and a full ride scholarship for grad studies at Harvard (O Brien). In an unfortunate turn of events, the army drafts Tim to fight in the Vietnam War, something that he is staunchly against. Due to his beliefs against the war, Tim attempts to leave his home and move to Canada, eventually coming back to fight after a period of self reflection. Through this figurative journey , the author uses the fundamental plot archetype of the journey from innocence to experience to demonstrate how adversity exposes the inherent human flaws in even the best people. Tim s archetypal journey begins in his home in Minnesota, where his naivety and resultant innocence are easily apparent through his personal opinions about morality. The archetypal journey typically consists of five major steps, being; an innocent start in a familiar environment, followed by a descent into danger and a battle with demons throughout which the hero gains experience, ultimately ending with a return home (TVDSB). As Tim confesses, he had taken a modest stand against the war , however he assumes that the problems of killing and dying did not fall within my special province ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Social Media Good Or Bad Essay Have you ever had a good or bad experience with social media? Have you ever been a part of a protest that was started on social media? I think that social media is a good thing because you can have so much fun on it and even make friends on in. Without that you would be limited to the kids in your neighborhood and in some places there are not a lot of kids that you can make friends with or they do not live close so you have to drive there. That is all fixed with social media. Like recently I have found some friends on social media that I play games with. They are super nice and without social media I would have never had that experience I would have to play be myself all the time and have no one to talk to. But now I have the chance to make friends and have fun with them even tho they live far away. Also colleges and most jobs look at your social media account to see what kind of person you are and if you are able to work so not only can you have fun but you can also potentially make money from it and you can make friends. Only when this social bond is weakened is crime likely to occur. He contended that this social bond has four elements; Attachment, commitment, involvement and beliefs (Fuller 2006). In the attachment, when children respect their parents, appreciate all that they do for them, they are less likely to be involved in criminal activity. However, when they do not have the proper guidance, lack of concern for their outside activities, they tend to stray, and seek out those who show concern for them. Often it becomes a role model, a close friend, someone to which they seek approval from. This becomes their attachment bond. In gangs, this often leads to the higher authority, a person to which they look up too, to whom they want to become. The level of commitment involves how far one will go to prove themselves. One is committed to a gang, to which they consider all members family. People who have money, property, and good reputations are committed to the social system that allowed them the opportunities for that success (Fuller 2006). In a gang, being a member of a respected gang, means that they too will have respect by those outside of the gang, and will often be in fear of your presence. As in the MS 13, individuals who are quite familiar with this particular gang know that it is a matter of survival of their own existence to cross a gang member; therefore, the ordinary citizen will be wise to give way to the member. • 10. The Terrorist Attacks On September 11 The terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 affected American perspectives on many issues, including immigration. A total of 20 foreign terrorists were involved, 19 of whom took part in the attacks that caused the deaths of 2,977 victims, most of them civilians. The terrorists had entered the United States on tourist or student visas. Four of them, however, had violated the terms of their visas. The attack exposed long standing weaknesses in the U.S. immigrationsystem that included failures in the areas of visa processing, internal enforcement, and information sharing.[8] The REAL ID Act of 2005 changed some visa limits, tightened restrictions on asylum applications and made it easier to exclude suspected terrorists, and removed restrictions on building border fences. In 2005, Senators John McCain and Ted Kennedy revived the discussion of comprehensive immigration reform with the proposal of the Secure America and Orderly Immigration Act, incorporating legalization, guest worker programs, and enhanced border security. The bill was never voted on in the Senate, but portions are incorporated in later Senate proposals. In 2006, the House of Representatives and the Senate producing their own, conflicting bills. I think Fultz and Thomas can coexist in the same backcourt, Fultz was a point guard in college, however I think he will thrive in the NBA as shooting guard with everyone playing small ball. Fultz doesn t need Thomas to create a shot for him, he can create his own shot off the dribble, and if Thomas is out the game he can be the teams primary ball handler, and the second option on offense. He is rarely considered separately from his brother, except concerning his hymns. Assist Me to Proclaim: The Life and Hymns of Charles Wesley by John R. Whitefield was preaching predestination, the idea that God has already decided who is of the elect. Charles viewed Whitefield as a good godly man who was confused by false teachers and evildoers (Tyson 127 129). The two friends agreed to disagree about the predestination issue and put their differences aside because of their shared concern for ministry. This disagreement would result in two different types of Methodism: Calvinist Methodism, who believed in predestination, and Wesleyan Methodists, who believed in unlimited atonement (Tyson 114 115). Another issue concerning the Methodist movement was that locals and Anglican ministers sometimes turned against the Wesleys. The brothers, especially John, were accused of being papists, the only authority coming from the Wesleys (Tyson 136). It s quite straightforward, you simply need to make an item that a specific group of individuals need, put it or sell it somewhere where those same individuals visit consistently, and value it at a level which coordinates the quality they understand they get of it; and do all at a time they will all want to purchase it. At that point you have it made! (Toolkit.smallbiz.nsw.gov.au, 2015)Marketingis integral to the success of a business, large or small, with its primary focus on quality, consumer value and customer satisfaction. There s a great deal of truth in this thought. In any case, a great deal of diligent work needs to go into figuring out what clients need, and recognizing where they do their shopping. At that point you have to make sense of how to deliver the product at a value that speaks to esteem to them, and get it all to meet up at the basic time. In any case, on the off chance that you get only one component wrong, it can spell catastrophe. You could be left selling a car with great fuel efficiency in a nation where fuel is extremely cheap; or distributed a textbook after the beginning of the new school year, or offering a product at a value that is too high or too low to pull in the target audience. Johnson argues, The shadow is the part of us we fail to see or know, (4). What I think he means by this is that the shadow can be an outlook for the unlived life caused by a specific pattern of life decisions. Although, all seem suspicious, the Raven is the only without a witness of his whereabouts between 9:45 and ten. Well, not only Annabel Lee but Lenore too, saw Griswold in the hall while Lenore and Annabel and Lenore were fighting. This covers for all three of them. Dupin was watched by Person while he slept at the same time. Montresor was with Annabel in the purple room until 9:45 when she left, and if Montresor had committed the murder, somebody would have saw him in the hallway. This already incriminates the Raven as the murderer so we are left with the question of what the murder weapon was. The only three possible weapons are the bust of pallas, the eye dropper, and the cloth. However, we know automatically it wasn t the cloth. If the cloth is the same cloth Lenore gave The Red Death to cough into, not only would Poe show signs of the Red Death but the murderer would have been found dead as well. As for the eyedropper, it could have been used to intoxicate Poe, with poison. But after finding the vile of poison in Annabel Lee s room completely sealed, it s safe to say that the eye dropper was most definitely not the murder weapon. This leaves us with the bust of ... Yeats lived from 1865 to 1939; so this poem, which was composed in 1926 at age 60, which reflects his fear about aging and becoming immaterial. The narrator of this poem seems concerned with the idea of the human condition, that we are born, we live, and then we die . The narrator seeks out a place where he will be able to join the monuments of history, so that he could survive endlessly. He emphasized a deeper journey of an old man seeking to escape the idle and uneducated society of Europe. Thereafter, the poet sails to a place called Byzantium, the ancient name for current day Istanbul. He chose Byzantium, because of its well known history, a place of paradise and the only place where art and man can become a single body. Thus, he hopes that by becoming an artificial object himself, he can setback the human condition. The first stanza of the poem references the impermanence of the natural world, and the fact that everything must one day meet an end. In the sentence That is no country for old men, the word that indicates both Ireland and natural world in general. • 26. Recent Advances in the Study of Protein Misfolding Diseases Protein misfolding diseases include highly debilitating degenerative disorders like Alzheimer s and Parkinson s diseases. The healthcare and financial burden linked to these pathologies has been steadily increasing over the past decade. Actually, there is currently no efficient treatment for misfolding diseases as well as no reliable early diagnostic techniques for them, in most cases. It is known that, in many cases, the cytotoxic effect of misfolded proteins is exerted through their self assembly into amyloid like protein aggregates. Unfortunately, the mechanisms responsible for the toxicity of protein aggregates are still not completely understood. The number of protein targets whose misfolding and aggregation is being shown to be associated with the onset of pathologic conditions is constantly increasing. Since the development of degenerative disorders is expected to increase at a similar rate than life expectancy, it is likely that in the years to come misfolding diseases would become more common and prevalent than previously thought. We should be prepared to deal with such a dramatic scenario and join research efforts to understand the molecular mechanism that underlie these devastating disorders without further delay. In this book, we highlight recent advances in the study of protein misfolding disorders and their protein targets, but we also describe how different organisms exploit the amyloid fold for the functional and dynamic assembly of biological structures. ... It is important to understand water quality not only for the health of the ecosystem, but also for humans who drink the water and use the water for recreational purposes. In the city, it is difficult to maintain adequate water quality standards because of factors like excessive pollutants from road runoff, sediments, nutrients, and organic waste. The water levels are often sporadic and will vary by land use such as a parking lot versus a park. A way to combat this problem is to manage or restore the riparian zone by adding vegetation, encouraging infiltration, and reducing runoff rates. The Colorado River The Colorado River had the highest water quality of all tested sites. The dissolved oxygen at this site was 8.92 mg/L and could be attributed to a number of different reasons (Table 1). The sample was taken when the sun was high and water dwelling plants had been photosynthesizing for a number of hours. The water was flowing fairly quickly and there was a small riffle at the area where the reading was taken which could have increased dissolved oxygen of the water. The river had a rocky gravel bottom which provided plenty of habitat for the macroinvertebrates that reside in the river. The variety of macroinvertebrates that were found were indicators of high water quality; species included caddisflies, mayflies, stoneflies, and dragonfly larvae. The macroinvertebrates were all very large specimens, indicating a healthy environment and plenty of resources to support their growth. The site examined was downstream of the Hornsby Bend Biosolids Plant. The high water quality at the Colorado River site could be partially attributed to the Plant s ability to sanitize and reuse wastes and prevent contamination through leakages of unclean water. Based on the video Engager you watched in Unit 2, how would you advise this friend? Define marginal tax rates. Then, explain why taxrates in the United States were designed to be marginal. вћўA progressive tax, which the friend would be under in this situation, is one in which those with the highest incomes pay the higher tax rate (Video Engager 2). I would advise this friend to take a closer look at the situation; just because he is earning more money does not necessarily mean he will lose more of what he earns to taxes. Instead, different safety features are built into the process to ensure that those who earn more are not prevented from working harder or getting a promotion. For example, those with a higher income can be incentivized through tax breaks from giving to charity or even saving for retirement (Video Engager 2). These benefits encourage those in the higher income brackets to continue to be motivated to earn more. In addition, the tax rates on higher income are marginalized. Marginal tax rates mean that a high earner will only pay the higher tax on the portion of money that is above the tax bracket. In other words, everyone will pay the same percentage of tax on the first bracket of income, any income above that bracket will be taxed at a slightly higher rate, and ... Countries are affected by this process and many of its civilians are left with nowhere to call their home. Communities where they once lived turn into places they ve never seen before. To be forced out of their own communities is only hurting the economic system of that city and/or country. The people that are being displaced are minorities and being forced out their community is killing their cultural. The residents will not be able to raise their children the same way they were brought up. For example, going outside and playing with the neighborhood children. The minorities that are getting kicked out will not able to stick together as a whole when moving to a different location. Each resident might move to different countries or cities as a final resort where prices of rent or mortgage will be lower. Some solutions that countries can use to limit or exterminate gentrification together would be; helping the poor residents through government assistances. Some residents do not have the proper income to continue living in the communities once the government or other companies step in and attempt to renovate the community. Another solution to this social problem would be if the government was more involved in helping the residents that are forced out to find better housing or something similar to their current ... • 39. A Journal of the Plague Year Critique A Journal of the Plague Year is a first person account of what it was like living through the times of the plague. It recollects stories and other accounts of plague times heard by and collected by the Defoe from other involved individuals. Explains many aspects before, during, and after the plague of their ways of life and culture. Tells of tales of survivors of the plague but mostly off different tales of deaths and how they died in many outrageous and tragic ways of people killing their families, themselves, or masses of people. The whole journal is filled with collections of stories, but also with charts showing the deaths in different parishes and how they change as the plague raged on. In the end, it tells how life went back to normal for Londonand Defoe and his family. Author Daniel Defoe wrote this journal to document his story of the plague along with others so that he may share his account with future readers. He wanted people to hear his story and recollection of the plague so that readers may learn about this epidemic straight through his journal. Showed the struggle people, including himself, went through just for safety for their family and themselves from the plague. He wanted to give examples of what the plague had done to people and what the results of the plague was after it had infected them. Daniel wanted to show his own personal sense of hope through his journal to show that even through the toughest of times, mass death of family and friends, you can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Tattoos have been especially significant in tribal communities. While traditional techniques have lost popularity in the Islamic countries, skin decorating has remained prominent. The once popular practice of permanent tattooinghas shifted, in many places in the Middle East, to the practice of temporary tattooing. There is a diverse range of meaning behind tattooing in theses countries. The tattoos were used for protection, decoration and displaying sexuality. Interestingly, it appears as if there have not been many formal studies about the meanings and origins of tattoos in the Middle Eastern culture. However, I was still able to find... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Among Bedouin women the tattoos symbolize beauty, sex, and protection. It was once thought that tattoos protected people from evil spirits. The facial tattoos serve mostly to decorate and beautify women. Tattoos in scandalous places such as the upper thigh are meant to be seen only by sexual partners thereby having an erotic function (DeMello 51). Another source states that the Berber women tattooed because of their belief in supernatural energies and used tattoos to protect against the dark energies. These tattoos are placed near places on the body deemed to be vulnerable to evil; they were placed around the eyes, mouth, nose, belly button, and vagina. The tattoos are intended to protect against illnesses and spirts; for example, tattoos placed on the feet defend against possession from evil spirits (Krutak). For Algerian women tattoos signified healing and fertility, along with beauty, and female identity (Bendaas). Tattoos may have also been used to identify oneself as belonging to a certain tribe, displaying bravery and celebrating big life events. This source also claimed that women used tattoos to make themselves beautiful to the men in their tribe while deterring attention from men of other tribes. The author noted that Iranian men used tattoos to demonstrate strength and masculinity, but reports of this phenomenon were rare in my research (Laura). In fact, a different source ... • 42. Diversity In Children s Literature I believe that books have one of the greatest influences on children when they are growing up. There are many different genres of books and they all have something different to teach and offer to children. For example, picture books and fictional stories spark imagination in children and teach them creativity while, non fiction and stories incorporating diversity, teach children about a certain topic and help broaden their horizons. Keeping the importance of all the different genres of books in mind, I chose two articles from the Journal of Children s Literature pertaining to this subject. The name of the first article I read is, Drawing Stories, WritingPictures: Readingand Composing Multimodally in Storying Studio, written by Prisca Martens. • 43. The Disregard Of Life During War The Disregard for Human Life during War Times The quality of life for soldiers of war has decreased and basic necessities are lost. The value of civilian lives is also lost in the disputes between two countries. An example of this is, Something was being burned there. A truck drew close and unloaded its hold: small children. Babies! Yes, I did see this, with my own eyes... children thrown into the flames (Wiesel 33). The above quote from Night by Elie Wiesel represents the disregard of life and the horrors that can be seen in times of war. Many wonder why war changes the value of human lives. Why does war have the power to choose if your life is worth keeping? The quality of life decreases in times of war therefore showing the realities of war and the toll it takes on the soldiers and civilians involved. Conflicts such as the American Revolution, the Civil War, World War One, World War Two and the Vietnam War all share common characteristics. Throughout each of these wars the quality of life has decreased because of the demands and needs for soldiers and civilians. Examples of these poor conditions can be seen in journals, letters, propagandaposters, photographs, speeches, essays and songs. These examples prove that the soldiers in these wars lost many of the activities that many take for granted. It also shows how surviving life outside of the fighting is just as hard as the war itself. This further proves that war is a serious matter and should not be taken lightly. ... Big Business And Conservation Activism The struggle between providing for California s burgeoning population and the corresponding increase pressure on California s ever shrinking pristine natural wonders and natural resources has been a constant clash between the forces of big business and conservation activism. However, the outcomes of these many battles have increasingly favored the side of economics over nature. The trend that becomes clear is that the will of the businessmen have been prevailing over the concerns of the conservationists more and more. What are the forces that are pushing the pendulum closer and closer towards the desires of industry? By examining the history of this conflict between these two factions, it will become clear how one has had progressively more of an advantage over the other. Today, the main reason that industry s goals almost always prevails over conservation s efforts is economics and what an advantage in economics can buys one politically. Economic interests will predominately have ever increasing priority over environmental interest as long as money is considered speech and corporations are people; therefore, the most pragmatic solution that would allot conservation groups with an equal voice in the political process with business is to call for an Article V Constitutional Convention to pass an amendment to permanently get money out of politics nationwide. Oedipus the King was written as a play and performed in front of an audience. Sophocles shows in Oedipus the King that one cannot escape the fate of the gods. Throughout the play Oedipusstruggles to find a solution and change all the troubles in his life. The play observes the story of Oedipus who defies the gods and through the journey experiences hardships in tragic flaw, tragic fall and tragic realization. Tragic flaw would be considered the negative aspect which influences the character. Teiresias, who is a blind prophet warns Oedipus of his horrible fate and Oedipus tells him Your life is one long night so that you cannot hurt me or any other who sees the light (Sophocles1747). In this exchange Oedipus believes that he is all powerful and nothing can hurt him which shows his arrogance. Oedipus s arrogant behavior will end up costing him greatly as he continues through the story as if nothing can harm the king. Oedipus accuses Creonfor his problems and Creon tells the citizens of Thebes what he believes, Citizens, I have come because I heard deadly words spread about me, That the king accuses me. I cannot take that from him (Sophocles 1751). Oedipus s arrogance spreads deep into his psychological thinking as he continues to believe that he cannot make mistakes and blames others. • 48. Esperanza Rising Short Story Mexican immigrants in the United States faced difficult challenges daily such as discrimination, lower wages, and hatred. The book Esperanza Rising is by American writer Pam Munoz Ryan. Esperanza is a Mexican girl at the age of thirteen, and she had to leave her home in Mexico to come to the United States as an immigrant. She had to leave because of her greedy uncles. Even though Esperanza s life was full of challenges, as an immigrant the harshest challenges were not knowing how to do daily chores, having to go work in the sheds to pay mamaВґs medical bill, and facing discrimination due to her skin tone. The fact that Esperanza did not know how to do daily chores because she always had servants, shows her harsh new life as an immigrant. The first challenge Esperanza faced was not knowing how to sweep the platform. Esperanza had to sweep the platform to lower the rent her family paid for the house. She did not come from a family that did their chores they always had servants, therefore she never had to learn how to sweep. She got made fun of by Marta a striker when she tried to sweep the platform. On page 116 and 117 is states that, ВЁIn her entire life, Esperanza had never held a broom in her hand... Thus, for the proposed career group project (part 1), my group presented information on the child life specialist profession. However, after much thought, I have decided to change my emphasis from child life to child development and pursue a career as a school psychologist, once I graduate. School psychology is a wide ranging practice and health service provider concerned with offering an assortment of psychological diagnosis, assessments, and interventions, et cetera to all learners (i.e. children, youth and families) (American Psychological Association (APA), (2015). The educational requirements, as described by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), consists of the completion of a 60 graduate semester specialist level program in school psychology plus a 1200 hour internship, for a majority of states (2015). Therefore, upon receiving my bachelor s degree in child and family development, I plan to attend a graduate program that meets the NASP standards for approval, and as stated by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (2015), clinical, counseling, and school psychologists earn an annual median of $74,030. What Are the Personal Philosophy, Values, and Beliefs? I feel as if school psychology is a great fit for me. It will allow me to provide counseling and support for those students facing emotional distress and/or difficulties that may affect their academic performance. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
