Let s Talk About Sex.....Preference in Non Western Cultures
Introduction
Each day, over one hundred and eighteen million babies are born worldwide. According to the
biological sex binary male and female, every infant has the possibility of being born with sex
chromosomes female (XX) and male (XY), which causes differences in their biological anatomies.
There are also individuals with disorders of sex development or more commonly referred to as being
intersex. Intersex is an umbrella term for people whose sexual or reproductive anatomies, sex
hormones, or sex chromosomes just do not fall neatly into the definitions of male and female.
Examples of this disorder could include ambiguous genitalia, androgen sensitivity, or abnormalities
with how the rest of the body responds to sex hormones. The majority of cultures around the globe
give merit to and recognize the differences in biological sex (male/female binary), what roles they
have played in their traditions/histories, and their current position in framing politics or societal
structures. Some Non Western countries such as China, India, Taiwan, and Pakistan, include cultures
that exhibit a strong sex preference, or more specifically son preference. More than simply preferring
the births of sons to daughters, son preference develops from instances of gender inequality where
outside parties often question basic human rights. Non Western

Essay about Full Inclusion in US Classrooms
People with disabilities have long suffered from discrimination and segregation. In the 1880, people
with hearing, visual, physical, mental or emotional impairments were sent to be educated in residential
institutions or asylums. ( Issues about Change) Parents and family of those with disabilities put
pressure on our government and legislation to develop and provide equal access to education by way
of mainstreaming or special education. Section 504 of Public Law 93 112 passed in 1973 had far
reaching effect on exclusion and discrimination. (Gollnick and Chinn p. 168) This law did for those
with disabilities that Title IX did for females and education; it provided access and participation in

Teaching students with exceptional abilities requires funding, training and planning. Being in a regular
classroom with children from various cultures, ethnic backgrounds and intellectual ability help
students learn how to work together toward a common goal: reduce discrimination and stereotyping
people with physical and mental limitations. Instructional strategies that break the work down so
everyone learns better can improve education as well as reduce cost. This is achieved by including
special education students in environments that will allow them to develop normal social interactions
as well as receive specific attention to their learning needs. ( What is Special Education ) Children
with disabilities need to be recognized as individuals as well as be valued for the people they will
grow to be. In the classroom the growing process can be difficult to achieve depending on the nature
and severity of the disability. Not all children will be served by full inclusion, some students have
disabilities that require medical attention or physical facilities such as specially equipped bathrooms,
ramps or elevators that may not be found in the traditional school building. For example, a child with
severe cerebral palsy with severe limb constriction, lack of bowel control, inability to feed themselves
and confined to a wheelchair, inclusion could cause more harm than good. This student requires
medical aid to care for physical

The resort provides an excellent service and the facilities are one of a kind but, there is a vast amount

Colonization of Bangladesh
Colonization of Bangladesh Bangladesh, a developing country, is relatively unknown in the globalized
world and is often confused with its dominant neighbor, India. The country as we see it now did not
exist even 50 years ago. The purpose of this paper is to detail how the region was colonized, how
Bangladesh came to be and a brief overview of how it is doing now. As most geographers know that
there is an intense relationship between Pakistan, India and Bangladesh, for good reason too. They
were all part of the same colony once and hence when we talk about the colonization of Bangladesh,
we must mention details from those of India and Pakistan. Colonization of India Imperial colonization

Extractive colonies on the other hand, were used by the colonizers solely for their resources and thus
the extraction of their resources and the lack of any advanced government institutions and frameworks
leads to them performing worse relative to settlement colonies, as defined in terms of income per
capita. Since Pakistan, India and Bangladesh were all part of colonial India, it is logical to assume that
these three countries will experience similar levels of development. I will attempt to deduce this using
GNI per capita, GDP per capita and the HDI Index. Figure 1 GNI per Capita: Figure 2 GDP Per
Capita: Figure 3 Human Development Index: It is clear from the data above that India has outpaced
both Pakistan and Bangladesh in recent times leading me to believe that the proposed theory does not
hold true for Bangladesh. This is probably because the British set up different types of colonies in
different regions, causing dissimilarities in growth. Pakistan and Bangladesh has been virtually the
same on the HDI index but Pakistan beats Bangladesh in both GNI and GDP per capita. There are
several major factors contributing to Bangladesh s poor growth. Some of which are, but not restricted

Rhetoric Of Malcolm X
Malcolm X s upbringing was one of extreme struggle and violence, as such it is unsurprising that
when he got older and involved with racial politics he took a more extreme approach. Whilst Martin
Luther King and other civil rights leaders were expunging the importance of equality and becoming a
racially integrated society Malcolm X was loudly calling for self imposed segregation of African
Americans. Joining the nation of Islam helped to define and shape Malcolm X s philosophy of race
and until his eventual Hajj to Mecca he remained furiously racist towards white people. Malcolm X
was despite his unique character simply the voice of an oppressed and angry group of people in
America with the Nation of Islam being a huge voice in the civil rights era. Martin luther King s
approach of nonviolent protest was put into perspective by Malcolm X s fiery rhetoric and perhaps
even helped to give more power to Kings push for concrete racial policy change.
Malcolm X is well known to be the outspoken alternative to Kings talk of peace and integration,
however, despite this it is known that he had a real feeling of respect towards him. Malcolm X
represented the African Americans who were at the bottom rungs of society, those that were poor and
angry at the generations of oppression they had been forced to endure. In his autobiography he
describes in detail the nature of a system that oppressed black Americans on a massive scale. Martin
Luther King always had a much bigger following than

The Human Genome Project
The Human Genome Project (HGP) began in 1990 with funding from the Department of Energy and
the National Institutes of Health with the goal of decoding the human genome. Researchers from
across the world are working in conjunction to understand the sequence of amino acid base pairs and
how they interact with one another to elicit specific genetic reactions. Once the decoding of the
genome takes place, scientists will be able to develop individual treatment plans and understand a
number of diseases. Research has found that there are over 3 billion amino acid base pairs which make
up 20,000 genes. Of these 20,000 genes, the human genetic code is defined by forty six tightly packed
bunches called chromosomes. Due to the vast array of amino acid base pairs, the project has taken
over ten years to complete the sequencing of the specific parts, but the task of understanding how the
parts interact one another and the influence they have on diseases has yet to be accomplished. The
genetic material in chromosomes defines human attributes and is developed from proteins. Proteins
are a series of amino acids, which are strung together, and the unique combination of nucleic acids (A,
T, C, and G) in the protein give specific directions to the cell to produce certain combinations of
amino acids. This process creates proteins varying in form and function based upon the series of
amino acids. The differing proteins cause numerous actions in the body to be carried out, and are

are deemed necessary. At any stage should a complainant feel they need to contact an outside body
they can contact the Social Worker and or CQC.
An audit trail of documentation and decisions reached are kept on file. As previously stated,
complaints can be made verbally, through sign language or in writing. If complaints are verbal or

Track-Personal Narrative
I was thinking if I should go straight or turn right onto the track when I was leaving school one
miserable day. I had made my decision to go right because I would get less wet. So I walked home on
the long deserted track when I saw Barry Bagsley and his little puppets Doug and Danny playing catch
with a little Moorefield primary boy. I kept walking down the track thinking that I could just avoid
them by running fast through them. As I got closer I realised that they were grabbing the contents of
within his bag and throwing it everywhere. I felt like I had to help out the little guy but at the same
time it felt so wrong to go down and come into contact with my foe.
My mind was telling me to avoid them but some little inkling in me told me to help him out. I
followed that inkling and kept walking along the muddy trail. Until I thought no I will turn around,
why make myself the target when I could just walk away, no it was too late, they have seen me. ...

Dante s Inferno Research Paper
Dante s Inferno: One Man s Life and Hell Questioning the existence and form of an afterlife comes as
naturally to the human mind as thinking itself. Many religions attempt to answer the questions about
afterlife, but one could argue that no one answer is entirely correct. Dante Alighieri s Inferno is the
depiction of one man s Hell, which means that the form it takes is greatly affected by Dante s
personality and life. Dante Alighieri lived in 14th century Florence, Italy, and was a political writer
embroiled in a war between two families, the Guelphs and the Ghibellines. The Catholic Church was
riddled with corruption, and Dante was eventually exiled from Florence for the remainder of his life as
a result of the ongoing conflict. Despite ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Among the three classifications of sins which Dante identifies before his descent, the sins of Fraud are
found within the last two circles of Hell. Within the eighth circle, or the Malebolge, one finds
flatterers, seducers, fortune tellers, corrupt politicians, and others who falsify. These sinners receive no
pity from Dante, and are subjected to a plethora of miserable torments: suffering from diseases of the
senses, walking in circles donning leaden robes, being torn apart by snakes, and wallowing in
excrement, to name a few. Furthermore, the ninth circle contains the traitors, who broke the trust of
those they had special connections with. Among these are traitors to country, traitors to kin, and
traitors to masters. These sinners are sentenced to be frozen in ice at varying heights, with their bodies
disfigured and limbs mangled. These relentless and excruciating punishments show that Dante sees
the convolution of truth as unforgivable and worthy of eternal agony. Dante s politically charged life
also influences his Hell. Facing corruption in the Catholic Church and warring families, many
important political and religious figures appear in the lower circles of Inferno. Though this
background of deceit and betrayal carries great significance to Dante s life, one could argue that Dante
abhorred those who only served themselves the most of all

Yes, they have. In some countries, where land was scarce, governments limited the area of the land

government for utilities such as power, gas and water. A typical period required for arranging
government approval for a theme park could be as high as two to five years, depending on the country.
Product differentiation
Are there any proprietary product differences in the industry?
Yes,because the theme park industry had three classes of inputs: the building and construction services
that provided landscaping and architectural support; the hardware providers that supplied amusement
machinery; and the software providers that supplied management know how.
Are there any established brand identities?
Yes, because the park manager should work with tour operators and government tourist promotion
boards to draw the tourist crowds to their parks. Theme parks spent about 10 per cent of their annual
revenues for advertising. Radio, newspaper, yellow page (telephone book) advertisements, family and
group discounts, and direct mail were the most common promotional methods.
Do customers incur any significant costs in switching suppliers?
No, because the customers don t care about the price.

Hindu Weddings Essay
Marriage is the institution whereby men and women are joined in a special kind of social and legal
dependence for the purpose of founding and maintaining a family. (Webster s Dictionary.) When a
couple gets married they make a vow in front of their loved ones and their God to be together for the
rest of their lives and abide by each other. In the Hindu religion, which is the third largest religion in
the world, weddings are very sacred, therefore a wedding ceremony takes a lot of time and effort and
it is composed of different rituals and ceremonies. The Hindu marriage, Lagna Vivah is the connection

Therefore you can never marry someone outside your caste even if you are truly in love with someone
outside your caste your marriage will never be favored. If a couple still goes ahead and proceeds with
marrying even though they are from two different castes, there family will basically disown them and
so they will have to deal with a lot of public pressure from their family as well as outsiders. Today the
idea of arranged marriages is overlooked as a forced marriage from other society s point of views.
Hindus arrange their children to meet partners they think are well suitable for them but this does not
mean the son or daughter has to automatically marry this person they have been introduced to. They
have a choice whether to go along with it or not. They are not forced at any point to marry this person.
Years ago parents arranged their children marriages while their children were very young and even
babies. They understood that if the kids grew up together over the years they will learn everything
there was to know about each other and so everything will basically work out to their advantage. Even
though the girl was practically married at a very young age she did not have to live with her husband
until she was matured, until then she will just visit him and his family. The wedding will occur before

Peter Singer What We Eat Argument
In the Ethics of What We Eat, Peter Singer, expert in Applied Philosophy and Bioethics, addresses
controversy head on by unraveling public misconception about meat consumption, bringing critical
attention to how the animals are treated before they are killed, as conscious beings that share the
planet with us. He points to the grocery store and the meat aisle where animal meats are purchased
that give imagery of spacious ranches and animals grazing on grass peacefully in lush pastures. In
fact, this is not the case at all. The lives the animals lead prior to being butchered are brutal, tortured
existences, of unimaginable grief, that no living being capable of conscious thought on any level, great
or small, should ever endure. Singer illustrates, that meat manufacturers don t want the public to know
this is the case, spending more than 11 billion dollars per year in deceptive advertisement, to convince
the public otherwise, obscuring the horrible truth. This selfish, greedy advertising leads Americans to
follow the Standard American Diet (SAD), characterized by high consumption of animal based
products, like meat, eggs, and dairy, high in fat and excess protein, consumed in larger than needed
portions, more often than needed, paving the way to heart disease, high blood pressure, low energy,
and unhealthy living, while meat producers rake in revenue. Singer asks his audience to reconsider the
foods they eat, providing valuable insight into why they eat these foods, and

Analysis Of The Movie Zac Beaulieu Essay
Throughout adolescence and high school, students go through many experiences trying to figure out
who they are and how they want to represent themselves. Zac Beaulieu, the protagonist in the film
C.R.A.Z.Y., went through this transitional phase unlike most teenagers who live in Quebec s 1970 s
heteronormative society. As a queer trying to figure out his sexual identity, Zac goes through an
unexpected journey when his non heteronormative ways start to show. It started when Zac realized he
was a little different than the other kids, and especially his brothers. Instead of being a jock or a nerd
like his two of his brothers, he enjoyed to dressing up in his mother s cloths, playing with babies, and
pushing his baby brother s carriage down the street. It was at this moment when his father caught him
dressed up in his mother s clothes talking to his little baby brother that he had unwittingly declared
war on his father . Throughout the movie, Zac has many experiences which ultimately led him and his
family to embrace his sexuality. Using music as an expression of his sexuality, Zac has been able to
learn from each of his experiences and understand and appreciate the person he has become and was
born to be. Some terms that I will use throughout my research essay are queer, cisgender,
heteronormativity, and social identity. I will define these terms to convey a more uniform
understanding of the term and its use in this research paper. Using the University of Michigan s

Paying College Athletes Essay
Paying College Athletes Every child at some point in their lives dream about becoming a rock star,
doctor or an astronaut, but the career that stands out the most is becoming a professional athlete. Why?
One reason could be the ever increasing media coverage on each individual sport with certain
channels devoted for just that particular sport, keeping viewers updated and thirsting to get out and
play. Another could be the ease of getting out in the backyard as a kid to shoot the basketball, throw a
football, or hit a baseball because it is harder to perform heart surgery or fly to the moon when you re

about how college athletes should be paid to play, more then half of people instantly will disagree and
say no way, what for? But have they really looked into all the answers pointing toward it might be a
good idea to pay them? I know it sounds like I m trying to say give them million dollar contracts and
call it a done deal but that is not the case. Aside from the athletic and academic scholarships to pay for
tuition, the money they would be receiving would be miniscule to what they could be making if they
were working at a job instead. This money would basically cover small costs an athlete must make
when living on his own, since there is no time for a job when the careful balancing act of school and
sports is in place. Only a select few big time athletes will actually make it all the way to the show and
receive a big payout. Once this money distribution to the players is in affect, it will clean up a lot of
problems in college sports. One question that needs to be answered first is, what is the NCAA? The

How Do Genre Affect The Culture Of Horror Films
From bloody massacres to demonic possessions, the genre of horror has come a long way, todays
horror movies have a variety of things in common with horror movies from the early 1900s. Although
horror movies have been around for decades, they ve changed through out the years. From extreme
gore and gushing blood to edge full suspenseful horror; horror movies have different and unique
styles. Described as an intense feeling of fear, shock, or disgust (Horror Film History 2001). Horror is
an ancient work of art that formally originated through story telling amongst different cultures. The
majority of horror films get their ideas or concepts through ancient horror folk stories. German
folklore had a huge impact on the genre of horror with its explicit genre of gothic horror throughout
the 1700s. German expressionism was a form of cinema that rose across Europe showcasing distorted
reality with the expression of emotion. A new genre was born, silent films came around the early

The Juuxtaposition Between The Greek And The Panathenaic...
Greece is a country full of the juxtaposition between the classic and the new. In Athens, cars, busses
and motorcycles fill the winding streets lined with statues of antiquity. Modern museums full of
ancient artifacts rest under the Acropolis. The Parthenon, as ancient as it is, is under construction, with
large cranes and scaffolding surrounding it. While there is a conflict between the classic and modern,
the new often looks to the ancient for inspiration, which can easily be seen when comparing the
ancient Olympic Games to the modern Olympic Games, as well as when looking at the history of the
Panathenaic Stadium.
The first modern Olympic Games were held in Athens in 1896. Athletes from 14 countries competed
in 43 events. Of these events, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

traditions. Both times the Games were motivated by giving honor to what was important, in one case,
a god, in the other, ancient tradition. Another similarity between the ancient and the modern Games is
the reason for competing. In both cases, winning the games means bringing glory and fame to oneself,
as well as one s home, in ancient times, one s city, modern, one s country. Another striking similarity

procession of all competing athletes by country, and the lighting of the Olympic Torch. During the
procession of athletes, according to tradition the Greek team is always first, followed by the rest in

Brutality in Algeria Essay
In Algeria, an African country, there is a civil war raging. The radicles are ruthless and will do
anything to ensure their victory. Their ultimate goal is to take over the country, to rule it on their own
(Hafez). They were ruthless and heartless and did not care who got in their way. This country has been
struggling to maintain civilization to no prevail. This country has been struggling for quite some time
now it is about time for it to pull itself back together and regroup. If it does not the results could
possibly be catastrophic. The country could fall to the radicles and become a total anarchy. Meaning
there is no government and everyone lives with their own rules. During this civil war the government
is falling to the radicles. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This indicated that the radicles were afraid of smart women. Being smart is to be powerful and that is
the opposite of what these terrorist wanted. One woman was speaking out against women being
treated differently and her father was killed that way she had to suffer. Life for women is rough in
Algeria due to them being in this war with the radicle Islamics. The women are much weaker than the
men therefore they believe that women cannot do the same thing that they do, which is where most of
the sexism comes from.During the war women played parts in mostly helping out the troops, also
another reason they were targeted. Women are equal to men regardless of what is said. Most countries
are past this chapter in history and women are not totally equal, but a lot closer than this one. The
women are beaten for not complying with request. Forced to be sex slaves to the radicles they are
captured by. Also being killed for being intelligent or being powerful as well as speaking out against
these crimes. After their capture the radicles work them like dogs doing whatever they ask and when
they are done they either release them or kill them depending on how well they complied. Sometimes
the radicles did not even give the women a chance they simply killed them out of cold blood, just
because they could. The sexism was so bad that some men wouldn t let their wives go outside for fear
of them being snatched up and killed. Along with sexism in Algeria the government is not

Interesting Features of Ancient Civilizations
Question: Try to imagine what it was like to live during that time and in that place. What was it that
caused the transition from Neolithic life to civilization? What were some of the major features of those
civilizations that you found interesting? One of the most interesting features of ancient civilizations
was the extent to which topography influenced cultural worldviews and practices. For example, in the
case of the Sumerians, they possessed a highly evolved and complex culture, as manifested in the
philosophical depth of their Epic of Gilgamesh. However, the openness of the land in which they lived
to invaders made them vulnerable as did the propensity of the land to catastrophic flooding. This may
be one of the reasons why they did not create as politically and architecturally complex a society as
Egypt or Greece. It also likely affected the relatively dark worldview expressed in Gilgamesh.
However, despite the susceptibility to invasions, subsequent civilizations in the area, like the
Babylonians, created ways of tracking the stars and other valuable methods of observing and
interpreting the world in a scientific fashion that were to become the building blocks of modern
civilization in other areas. In contrast to Mesopotamia, Egypt had the advantage of a regular,
predictable source of fertilization of its soil in the form of the Nile. This stable source of food enabled
the creation of one of the world s great empires. The pharaoh was responsible for all

Teaching A Student Centered Environment
Students need to be the priority when it comes to student centered environments. In today s classroom
it is no longer the teacher instilling one way to solve the math problem into the students. It is the
students working cooperatively with the teacher and their classmates to find their own way to solve
the math problem. If they can solve a math problem in a way that is unique to the teacher or their
classmates and still gets the correct answer that is student centered learning. There are many steps that
need to be taken when creating and teaching a student centered environment in the classroom. The
three main steps are the environment of the classroom, teaching in a way that is student centered, and
assessing students. While these might ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What I mean by that is that in a round table there are going to be some students who are not facing the
same direction. These students should have the same amount of opportunity to view the teaching and
the instruction as any of the other students. The second step for creating a student centered mint is
teaching. In this paper, I am going to be specifically talking about teaching math. It is important that
teaching be done in a way that is relational. This means that the children are answering the questions
their own way and in a way that makes sense to them specifically. In the book teaching students
entered mathematics Walle states that They develop their understanding of mathematics because they
are at the center of explaining, providing evidence or justification, finding or creating examples,
generalizing, analyzing, making predictions, applying concepts, representing ideas in different ways,
and articulating connections or relationships between the given topic and other ideas. (Van de Walle,
Lovin, Karp, Bay Williams, 2014, pg. 6). Method of teaching is very important when teaching
mathematics to children. With facilitative methods, the teacher might use investigations and inquiry,
cooperative learning, discussion, and questions that are more open‐ended. (Van de Walle, Lovin, Karp,
Bay Williams, 2014, pg. 10). This is important because through cooperative learning the children can
see other peers ideas. They got to observe different

Range Rover Analysis
The Myth of The Range Rover and Hollywood In Hollywood you re not considered a prominent
figure, until you drive a Range Rover. For this reason, the Range Rover is the perfect commodity to
exemplify a Hollywood myth. A myth as Roland Barthes describes in Mythologies, is a kind of
speech, in which the history of an object is distorted to signify a new modern history that feels
completely natural to modern society. The Range Rover has been appropriated into Hollywood by
celebrities and is predominantly owned by upper class celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Jay Z and
David Beckham. This vehicle, which was was originally used in the military and for off roading
terrain has had it s history drained and filled with a new history that signifies a much different myth
than it used to. In this essay, I will argue that the myth of the Range Rover signifies a prestigious and
powerful vehicle, designed with royalty and privilege as it is made specifically for the celebrities and
the famous upper class personalities of Hollywood. The Range Rover s appearance has an
authoritative god like presence caused by the size of the vehicle. It is a large vehicle, but mostly in it s
height as it is not very wide and appears significantly slim. Despite how large the body of the vehicle
appears, it can only sit five people so virtually no additional seating is gained by the size of the
vehicle, therefore the size of the vehicle is not for convenience purposes, but for exterior appearance.

Essay on Ethical Issues with Social Media
Current Ethical Issues with Social Media
People are increasingly sharing their lives online through social networking sites with little concern
for who may be viewing their information. This has become an issue in current times and is up for
debate based on the ethical issues associated with Social Media. People don t realize joining a social
network is like joining a community. As any community in real life, your business has a place in the
community but should not invade one s privacy. Social networking is one of the most popular methods
apart from forum marketing that is available to Internet users today. Places like MySpace and
Facebook among others have gone from just social interaction spaces to a part time marketing
program as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is no legitimate appeal beyond them. That which produces the greatest amount of happiness is
morally obligatory and nothing else.
Legal Perspective
In fact, the principle applies not only to morals but also to legislation. The purpose of laws is to
maximize the total happiness of the community. Most ethics questions about the use of technology can
be adequately answered by existing ethics rules without regard to medium or application.
On a more fundamental level, most of the ethical pitfalls related to social networking can be prevented
by a little forethought and exercise of common sense, without regard to ethics rules. The qualities of
social networking which are so potentially problematic for lawyers are its immediacy, its accessibility,
and its permanency. As a result, like all users of social media, lawyers can react to a situation
instantaneously and publicly, with an online posting that will remain on the internet in some form
forever. Instead of sober reflection, social media encourages a reactionary and emotional post. Instead
of one on one communication with a colleague or friend, social media encourages a broadcast to an
expansive audience. Instead of ethereal and temporary communication, social media encourages an
indelible post. You can get yourself into serious trouble by tweeting an emotional reaction to a judge s
adverse ruling from your iPhone as you are walking out of the courthouse, instead of

Art Analysis Of Donatello By One Of The Patron Saint Mark
ART ANALYSIS: SAINT MARK The Italian artist Donatello was selected by one of the guilds in
Florence to make a sculpture of their patron Saint Mark, and Donatello delivered. In the early
fourteenth century, half of Florence s market hall was torn down to make room for Orsanmichele, a
meeting place for all the guilds of Florence. In 1339, each guild was given its own spot to personalize
and decorate. Though it took much more time than originally planned, in 1411, Donatello was chosen
by the linen drapers guild to sculpt Saint Mark as their display. Donatello chose to work with the less
expensive marble instead of bronze. His contract stated that the sculpture should be finished by
November of 1412, but this had to be extended, of course. Finally the statue was finished in 1413, and
truthfully the back of the statue was not fully completed because the back was not going to be
displayed. When Donatello finished this magnificent piece of art, the guild was actually quite critical
of the figure that stands seven feet nine inches tall. The figure was also profound because it used the
contrapposto stance, in which the figure is asymmetrical. This stance had been forgotten by artists all
throughout most of the Dark Ages, so to see it back in such a wondrous display was very important.
Donatello also considered the angle at which the statue of Saint Mark would be seen, from down
below. Donatello purposefully made Saint Mark s head and hands and torso elongated; this would be

Colin Powell Pros And Cons
Who is Colin Powell? He is a retired four star General in the United States Army. He was also the 65th
United States Secretary of State (2001 2005), serving under President George W. Bush. Powell was
the first and only African American to serve in that position to date and was an exemplary leader of
many facets. Colin Powell has spent a majority of his life serving our Nation and is a decorated Army
veteran. Powell developed 18 principles in Leadership based off of his experiences and these
principles could be applied to develop better Leaders. I feel that I could relate to several of his
principles but the three that I identify with the most are you don t know what you can get away with
until you try, don t be afraid to challenge the pros, even in their own backyard and lastly to have fun in
your command.
Colin Powell s principle that states you don t know what you can get away with until you try sticks out
to me the most because it s how I ve lived my life thus far. My favorite quote is to ask for forgiveness

Madonna Of Stairs
Known as one of the greatest artists of the Italian Renaissance, Michelangelo was born on March 6th,
1475 to a noble family in Florentine, Italy. At the age of only 13, Michelangelo was apprenticed to
Domenico Ghirlandaio, and placed him in a studio to learn the fundamentals of art. He only worked
there for about a year after Lorenzo de Medici invited him to his home to work as an artist for them.
One of the most renowned work from his teen years was the marble sculpture called The Madonna of
Stairs , which was famous for the muscle that he applied to the art. After the death of Lorenzo the
Magnificent, Michelangelo traveled to many places, one of them being Rome during the time of Pope
Alexander VI. In 1498, he was commissioned to

A Study On Xyz University
Introduction
Problem
XYZ University is facing a problem in that classes that are one day a week are not providing enough
time in class for students. Student satisfaction and retention is low due to the difficulties of 1 night a
week in an eight week session . This makes it hard for students to retain the information they learn in
one week. Meeting only 8 times for an entire class does not help a student learn the material
Solution
Xyz should change the one a week class schedule and expand classes into meeting two days a week.
This will give students more time in class and more one on on time with the teacher. Being in class
twice a week will increase the students learning and do better in school. This can also give the student
a chance to ask the teacher for help if he did not learn the material the first day on the week.
Problem Analysis
Research
A study on XYZ University s website asked students how often they would prefer to have class and
when they wanted to go to class. Majority of the students chose to take class two times a week which
came to a total of 67% of the students. Only a 29.8% chose to go one day a week, 29.8% for three
days a week, and 23 percent for more than three days a week.
Student Satisfaction and Retention Student s satisfaction is low because of the difficulty of having
class one day a week in an eight week session. Students would be more satisfied with having class
twice a week because then they would have more time to learn the

Contributions Of Plato And Aristotle
Aristotle and Plato were philosophers in ancient Greece who searchingly studied matters of ethics,
science, politics, and more. Though many more of Plato s works survived throughout the centuries,
Aristotle s contributions have arguably been more influential, particularly when it comes to science
and logical reasoning. While both philosophers works are considered less theoretically valuable in
modern times, they continue to have great historical value.
Both Aristotle and Plato believed in these shared principles: harmony, organic approach (society
functions as an organism), natural approach, politics and morals, they believed that humans are social
creatures, and they believed in the functioning of the state and its citizens.
Plato and Aristotle believed that democracy is a corrupt form of government because it violates justice
of proportionality. The idea of proportional justice attains when we ask who is the most deserving. For
example, who should have the best flute, Aristotle answered that the best flute must be not given to the
richest man or to the most handsome man, but given to the best flute player. Being in the position of
governing is an honor. So who should have the honor? Plato and Aristotle argued that the honor must
be given to those who have the knowledge of the Good (agathon). In political ... Show more content

For both plato and Aristotle virtue was essential for happiness. A just citizen fulfills his role in society
and realizes his dominant quality for the common good. There are different levels of justice, different

Western Prosperity Fail
According to Deirdre McCloskey, why do some of the traditional explanations for Western prosperity
fail: The reason that explanations of western prosperity fail is because they aren t true. One of the
most traditional explanations is that the west profited and was built on slavery. This cannot be the case
because everywhere else in the world had slaves, slavery was not a western invention. Another
explanation is that the west had more resources (particularly coal) gave it the power to produce more.
This is false as well. You would expect place like Japan to be a wasteland and third world country
because of it lack of resources, but I fact Japan is one of the wealthiest countries in the world. By the
same logic Africa should be the most prosperous

  • 2. Summary Of Let s Talk About Sex Essay Aileen Burkett Prof. Pat Buck Global Perspectives of Women November 15, 2016 Let s Talk About Sex.....Preference in Non Western Cultures Introduction Each day, over one hundred and eighteen million babies are born worldwide. According to the biological sex binary male and female, every infant has the possibility of being born with sex chromosomes female (XX) and male (XY), which causes differences in their biological anatomies. There are also individuals with disorders of sex development or more commonly referred to as being intersex. Intersex is an umbrella term for people whose sexual or reproductive anatomies, sex hormones, or sex chromosomes just do not fall neatly into the definitions of male and female. Examples of this disorder could include ambiguous genitalia, androgen sensitivity, or abnormalities with how the rest of the body responds to sex hormones. The majority of cultures around the globe give merit to and recognize the differences in biological sex (male/female binary), what roles they have played in their traditions/histories, and their current position in framing politics or societal structures. Some Non Western countries such as China, India, Taiwan, and Pakistan, include cultures that exhibit a strong sex preference, or more specifically son preference. More than simply preferring the births of sons to daughters, son preference develops from instances of gender inequality where outside parties often question basic human rights. Non Western ... • 3. Essay about Full Inclusion in US Classrooms People with disabilities have long suffered from discrimination and segregation. In the 1880, people with hearing, visual, physical, mental or emotional impairments were sent to be educated in residential institutions or asylums. ( Issues about Change) Parents and family of those with disabilities put pressure on our government and legislation to develop and provide equal access to education by way of mainstreaming or special education. Section 504 of Public Law 93 112 passed in 1973 had far reaching effect on exclusion and discrimination. (Gollnick and Chinn p. 168) This law did for those with disabilities that Title IX did for females and education; it provided access and participation in regular education and extracurricular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Teaching students with exceptional abilities requires funding, training and planning. Being in a regular classroom with children from various cultures, ethnic backgrounds and intellectual ability help students learn how to work together toward a common goal: reduce discrimination and stereotyping people with physical and mental limitations. Instructional strategies that break the work down so everyone learns better can improve education as well as reduce cost. This is achieved by including special education students in environments that will allow them to develop normal social interactions as well as receive specific attention to their learning needs. ( What is Special Education ) Children with disabilities need to be recognized as individuals as well as be valued for the people they will grow to be. In the classroom the growing process can be difficult to achieve depending on the nature and severity of the disability. Not all children will be served by full inclusion, some students have disabilities that require medical attention or physical facilities such as specially equipped bathrooms, ramps or elevators that may not be found in the traditional school building. For example, a child with severe cerebral palsy with severe limb constriction, lack of bowel control, inability to feed themselves and confined to a wheelchair, inclusion could cause more harm than good. The Ritz Carlton brand s reputation is to provide the utmost quality service towards their guests. However, since they opened their doors in 2012 the service has not been on a par to other Ritz Carlton hotels nor with the other reserve location based over in Thailand. There is continuous training in regards of the companies Gold Standards throughout the year, which, is to reinforce a positive organizational culture at the resort property. These Gold Standards, in which, are the instruments that are provided to the employees and are used to deliver exceptional service to our guests. The resort provides an excellent service and the facilities are one of a kind but, there is a vast amount of employees are not following the company Gold Standards and are unmotivated employees due to various reasons. • 5. Colonization of Bangladesh Colonization of Bangladesh Bangladesh, a developing country, is relatively unknown in the globalized world and is often confused with its dominant neighbor, India. The country as we see it now did not exist even 50 years ago. The purpose of this paper is to detail how the region was colonized, how Bangladesh came to be and a brief overview of how it is doing now. As most geographers know that there is an intense relationship between Pakistan, India and Bangladesh, for good reason too. They were all part of the same colony once and hence when we talk about the colonization of Bangladesh, we must mention details from those of India and Pakistan. Colonization of India Imperial colonization has had long lasting effects throughout ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Extractive colonies on the other hand, were used by the colonizers solely for their resources and thus the extraction of their resources and the lack of any advanced government institutions and frameworks leads to them performing worse relative to settlement colonies, as defined in terms of income per capita. Since Pakistan, India and Bangladesh were all part of colonial India, it is logical to assume that these three countries will experience similar levels of development. I will attempt to deduce this using GNI per capita, GDP per capita and the HDI Index. Figure 1 GNI per Capita: Figure 2 GDP Per Capita: Figure 3 Human Development Index: It is clear from the data above that India has outpaced both Pakistan and Bangladesh in recent times leading me to believe that the proposed theory does not hold true for Bangladesh. This is probably because the British set up different types of colonies in different regions, causing dissimilarities in growth. Pakistan and Bangladesh has been virtually the same on the HDI index but Pakistan beats Bangladesh in both GNI and GDP per capita. There are several major factors contributing to Bangladesh s poor growth. Some of which are, but not restricted to, limited exports, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Rhetoric Of Malcolm X Malcolm X s upbringing was one of extreme struggle and violence, as such it is unsurprising that when he got older and involved with racial politics he took a more extreme approach. Whilst Martin Luther King and other civil rights leaders were expunging the importance of equality and becoming a racially integrated society Malcolm X was loudly calling for self imposed segregation of African Americans. Joining the nation of Islam helped to define and shape Malcolm X s philosophy of race and until his eventual Hajj to Mecca he remained furiously racist towards white people. Malcolm X was despite his unique character simply the voice of an oppressed and angry group of people in America with the Nation of Islam being a huge voice in the civil rights era. Martin luther King s approach of nonviolent protest was put into perspective by Malcolm X s fiery rhetoric and perhaps even helped to give more power to Kings push for concrete racial policy change. Malcolm X is well known to be the outspoken alternative to Kings talk of peace and integration, however, despite this it is known that he had a real feeling of respect towards him. Malcolm X represented the African Americans who were at the bottom rungs of society, those that were poor and angry at the generations of oppression they had been forced to endure. In his autobiography he describes in detail the nature of a system that oppressed black Americans on a massive scale. Martin Luther King always had a much bigger following than ... • 7. The Human Genome Project The Human Genome Project (HGP) began in 1990 with funding from the Department of Energy and the National Institutes of Health with the goal of decoding the human genome. Researchers from across the world are working in conjunction to understand the sequence of amino acid base pairs and how they interact with one another to elicit specific genetic reactions. Once the decoding of the genome takes place, scientists will be able to develop individual treatment plans and understand a number of diseases. Research has found that there are over 3 billion amino acid base pairs which make up 20,000 genes. Of these 20,000 genes, the human genetic code is defined by forty six tightly packed bunches called chromosomes. Due to the vast array of amino acid base pairs, the project has taken over ten years to complete the sequencing of the specific parts, but the task of understanding how the parts interact one another and the influence they have on diseases has yet to be accomplished. The genetic material in chromosomes defines human attributes and is developed from proteins. Proteins are a series of amino acids, which are strung together, and the unique combination of nucleic acids (A, T, C, and G) in the protein give specific directions to the cell to produce certain combinations of amino acids. This process creates proteins varying in form and function based upon the series of amino acids. The differing proteins cause numerous actions in the body to be carried out, and are ... I had made my decision to go right because I would get less wet. So I walked home on the long deserted track when I saw Barry Bagsley and his little puppets Doug and Danny playing catch with a little Moorefield primary boy. I kept walking down the track thinking that I could just avoid them by running fast through them. As I got closer I realised that they were grabbing the contents of within his bag and throwing it everywhere. I felt like I had to help out the little guy but at the same time it felt so wrong to go down and come into contact with my foe. My mind was telling me to avoid them but some little inkling in me told me to help him out. I followed that inkling and kept walking along the muddy trail. • 10. Dante s Inferno Research Paper Dante s Inferno: One Man s Life and Hell Questioning the existence and form of an afterlife comes as naturally to the human mind as thinking itself. Many religions attempt to answer the questions about afterlife, but one could argue that no one answer is entirely correct. Dante Alighieri s Inferno is the depiction of one man s Hell, which means that the form it takes is greatly affected by Dante s personality and life. Dante Alighieri lived in 14th century Florence, Italy, and was a political writer embroiled in a war between two families, the Guelphs and the Ghibellines. The Catholic Church was riddled with corruption, and Dante was eventually exiled from Florence for the remainder of his life as a result of the ongoing conflict. Despite ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Among the three classifications of sins which Dante identifies before his descent, the sins of Fraud are found within the last two circles of Hell. Within the eighth circle, or the Malebolge, one finds flatterers, seducers, fortune tellers, corrupt politicians, and others who falsify. These sinners receive no pity from Dante, and are subjected to a plethora of miserable torments: suffering from diseases of the senses, walking in circles donning leaden robes, being torn apart by snakes, and wallowing in excrement, to name a few. Furthermore, the ninth circle contains the traitors, who broke the trust of those they had special connections with. Among these are traitors to country, traitors to kin, and traitors to masters. These sinners are sentenced to be frozen in ice at varying heights, with their bodies disfigured and limbs mangled. These relentless and excruciating punishments show that Dante sees the convolution of truth as unforgivable and worthy of eternal agony. Dante s politically charged life also influences his Hell. Facing corruption in the Catholic Church and warring families, many important political and religious figures appear in the lower circles of Inferno. Though this background of deceit and betrayal carries great significance to Dante s life, one could argue that Dante abhorred those who only served themselves the most of all ... • 14. Peter Singer What We Eat Argument In the Ethics of What We Eat, Peter Singer, expert in Applied Philosophy and Bioethics, addresses controversy head on by unraveling public misconception about meat consumption, bringing critical attention to how the animals are treated before they are killed, as conscious beings that share the planet with us. He points to the grocery store and the meat aisle where animal meats are purchased that give imagery of spacious ranches and animals grazing on grass peacefully in lush pastures. In fact, this is not the case at all. The lives the animals lead prior to being butchered are brutal, tortured existences, of unimaginable grief, that no living being capable of conscious thought on any level, great or small, should ever endure. Singer illustrates, that meat manufacturers don t want the public to know this is the case, spending more than 11 billion dollars per year in deceptive advertisement, to convince the public otherwise, obscuring the horrible truth. This selfish, greedy advertising leads Americans to follow the Standard American Diet (SAD), characterized by high consumption of animal based products, like meat, eggs, and dairy, high in fat and excess protein, consumed in larger than needed portions, more often than needed, paving the way to heart disease, high blood pressure, low energy, and unhealthy living, while meat producers rake in revenue. Analysis Of The Movie Zac Beaulieu Essay Throughout adolescence and high school, students go through many experiences trying to figure out who they are and how they want to represent themselves. Zac Beaulieu, the protagonist in the film C.R.A.Z.Y., went through this transitional phase unlike most teenagers who live in Quebec s 1970 s heteronormative society. As a queer trying to figure out his sexual identity, Zac goes through an unexpected journey when his non heteronormative ways start to show. It started when Zac realized he was a little different than the other kids, and especially his brothers. Instead of being a jock or a nerd like his two of his brothers, he enjoyed to dressing up in his mother s cloths, playing with babies, and pushing his baby brother s carriage down the street. It was at this moment when his father caught him dressed up in his mother s clothes talking to his little baby brother that he had unwittingly declared war on his father . Throughout the movie, Zac has many experiences which ultimately led him and his family to embrace his sexuality. Using music as an expression of his sexuality, Zac has been able to learn from each of his experiences and understand and appreciate the person he has become and was born to be. Paying College Athletes Essay Paying College Athletes Every child at some point in their lives dream about becoming a rock star, doctor or an astronaut, but the career that stands out the most is becoming a professional athlete. Why? One reason could be the ever increasing media coverage on each individual sport with certain channels devoted for just that particular sport, keeping viewers updated and thirsting to get out and play. Another could be the ease of getting out in the backyard as a kid to shoot the basketball, throw a football, or hit a baseball because it is harder to perform heart surgery or fly to the moon when you re only a child. I know it sounds like I m trying to say give them million dollar contracts and call it a done deal but that is not the case. Aside from the athletic and academic scholarships to pay for tuition, the money they would be receiving would be miniscule to what they could be making if they were working at a job instead. In Athens, cars, busses and motorcycles fill the winding streets lined with statues of antiquity. Modern museums full of ancient artifacts rest under the Acropolis. The Parthenon, as ancient as it is, is under construction, with large cranes and scaffolding surrounding it. While there is a conflict between the classic and modern, the new often looks to the ancient for inspiration, which can easily be seen when comparing the ancient Olympic Games to the modern Olympic Games, as well as when looking at the history of the Panathenaic Stadium. Both times the Games were motivated by giving honor to what was important, in one case, a god, in the other, ancient tradition. In both cases, winning the games means bringing glory and fame to oneself, as well as one s home, in ancient times, one s city, modern, one s country. What was it that caused the transition from Neolithic life to civilization? What were some of the major features of those civilizations that you found interesting? One of the most interesting features of ancient civilizations was the extent to which topography influenced cultural worldviews and practices. For example, in the case of the Sumerians, they possessed a highly evolved and complex culture, as manifested in the philosophical depth of their Epic of Gilgamesh. However, the openness of the land in which they lived to invaders made them vulnerable as did the propensity of the land to catastrophic flooding. This may be one of the reasons why they did not create as politically and architecturally complex a society as Egypt or Greece. It also likely affected the relatively dark worldview expressed in Gilgamesh. However, despite the susceptibility to invasions, subsequent civilizations in the area, like the Babylonians, created ways of tracking the stars and other valuable methods of observing and interpreting the world in a scientific fashion that were to become the building blocks of modern civilization in other areas. In contrast to Mesopotamia, Egypt had the advantage of a regular, predictable source of fertilization of its soil in the form of the Nile. This stable source of food enabled the creation of one of the world s great empires. The pharaoh was responsible for all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For this reason, the Range Rover is the perfect commodity to exemplify a Hollywood myth. A myth as Roland Barthes describes in Mythologies, is a kind of speech, in which the history of an object is distorted to signify a new modern history that feels completely natural to modern society. The Range Rover has been appropriated into Hollywood by celebrities and is predominantly owned by upper class celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Jay Z and David Beckham. This vehicle, which was was originally used in the military and for off roading terrain has had it s history drained and filled with a new history that signifies a much different myth than it used to. In this essay, I will argue that the myth of the Range Rover signifies a prestigious and powerful vehicle, designed with royalty and privilege as it is made specifically for the celebrities and the famous upper class personalities of Hollywood. The Range Rover s appearance has an authoritative god like presence caused by the size of the vehicle. It is a large vehicle, but mostly in it s height as it is not very wide and appears significantly slim. Art Analysis Of Donatello By One Of The Patron Saint Mark ART ANALYSIS: SAINT MARK The Italian artist Donatello was selected by one of the guilds in Florence to make a sculpture of their patron Saint Mark, and Donatello delivered. In the early fourteenth century, half of Florence s market hall was torn down to make room for Orsanmichele, a meeting place for all the guilds of Florence. In 1339, each guild was given its own spot to personalize and decorate. Though it took much more time than originally planned, in 1411, Donatello was chosen by the linen drapers guild to sculpt Saint Mark as their display. Donatello chose to work with the less expensive marble instead of bronze. His contract stated that the sculpture should be finished by November of 1412, but this had to be extended, of course. Finally the statue was finished in 1413, and truthfully the back of the statue was not fully completed because the back was not going to be displayed. When Donatello finished this magnificent piece of art, the guild was actually quite critical of the figure that stands seven feet nine inches tall. The figure was also profound because it used the contrapposto stance, in which the figure is asymmetrical. This stance had been forgotten by artists all throughout most of the Dark Ages, so to see it back in such a wondrous display was very important. Donatello also considered the angle at which the statue of Saint Mark would be seen, from down below. Donatello purposefully made Saint Mark s head and hands and torso elongated; this would be ... Though many more of Plato s works survived throughout the centuries, Aristotle s contributions have arguably been more influential, particularly when it comes to science and logical reasoning. While both philosophers works are considered less theoretically valuable in modern times, they continue to have great historical value. Both Aristotle and Plato believed in these shared principles: harmony, organic approach (society functions as an organism), natural approach, politics and morals, they believed that humans are social creatures, and they believed in the functioning of the state and its citizens. Plato and Aristotle believed that democracy is a corrupt form of government because it violates justice of proportionality.
