Nanook Of The North Documentary
A documentary is an art form pulling away from a film as it tries to create the illusion of reality
by becoming non fiction. Film creates a great sense of escape but documentaries create a sense
of realism. The history of documentary began quite basic by just facing the mirror towards
nature. But as the years prolonged; ideologies, societies and controversies arose and documentary
makers decided to block certain parts of the mirror to show what they want you to see, the truth .
The very first documentary was released in 1922, Nanook of the North directed by Robert
Flaherty. This became the first sense of revealing nature and reality as itself, whilst creating a form
of narrative, as people tend to lean towards drama. In the contemporary world,... Show more content

Poetic documentaries are also labelled as subjective and expressionist as it involves the focus on
a topic that is very personal to the director and the interviewees. Emotional expression is another
key element as it can emphasize a person s life through use of music, camera angles, camera
shots and the certain paces of editing. Michael Moore uses this as a strategic way to lure and
catch he viewer s emotions by showing them a sensitive topic and sensitive imagery, as the

Essay about A Role of Ethics and Social Responsibilities...
A Role of Ethics and Social Responsibilities in Management.
Ethics can be defined as a process of evaluating actions according to moral principal of
values(A.Alhemoud). Throughout the centuries people were trying to choose between profit and
moral. Perhaps, some of them obtain both, but every time it could have roused ethical issues. Those
issues concern fairness, justice, rightness or wrongness; as a result it can only be resolved
according to ethical standards. Setting the ethical standards for the way of doing business in
corporation is primarily task of management. Corporations have to maintain the same standards as
an individual person and, in addition, corporations, as organizational units, have their own social ...

They emerged from individual ethical standards and corporate consciousness. Moreover, the public
demand for prosecution of any violations of corporate, professional and business ethics has been
increased. Finally, mass media made possible for society reveal secrets that were kept from public

develop a process for monitoring business practices and recommend ways to correct questionable
activities. (J.Byrne) All these measures were taken to balance various social responsibilities with
the high degree of moral and sense of attainment. Unfortunately, cooperation of unethical behavior

Mathematics And Mathematical Application For Mathematics
Mathematics and mathematical application has become a huge part of my life, if not the
majority of my life. Whether budgeting while doing my weekly grocery shopping, or
calculating the coefficient of friction between rubber and asphalt to create a tire with maximum
miles, mathematics is a crucial part of the world as we know it. Personally, my favorite part of
Math is that it can be seen anywhere; Math is involved in almost every subject in school and
practically every part of life. Knowing this, my interest in the subject grew exponentially. This
expectation is an opportunity for me to show how in love I ve fallen with math not only inside
the classroom, but also outside. I will use various articles collected within my three years are a
math Ed. major to prove that I am not only proficient in love with mathematics, but I am
providing the grounds for my students to also fall in love with this great subject. The First piece
of evidence I would like to view is a trigonometry worksheet I created, and put to use in my
classroom. When I first started teaching in the program I thought this would be a near impossible
task for me to complete. After a few trial runs, and many critiques from Mr. Uhls and the Math
department, I can finally say that I am comfortable in the art. Although this is a skill all teachers
must be comfortable in, it is also important to know there are many other resources out for free use
thanks to the internet. One of my favorites, also shown to me by Doug

With imperfect eyes, total equality is hard to accomplish, especially with the notion of judgment
and competition constantly tempting otherwise. However, the high hope of peace and utopia in
fulfillment has always been a human thrive. Throughout history many men have attempted such
perfection. Karl Marx inquired the structure of communism through the Manifesto to ensure
equality to a large socially grouped people. According to Vonnegut, so did the U.S. government, in
the year 2081. In the outrageous short story of Harrison Bergeron, many historic achievements and
ideas, like the Manifesto, can closely parallel with that of the future outlook described by Vonnegut.

People are not forced to exercise so they could be equal with the stronger; rather the strong must
equal themselves by adding weights to make them weaker. This produces a sickly and
depressing view of society. The people themselves become lesser. After time, the dictatorship of
downward living becomes almost a way of live. George has been carrying this burden of forty
seven pounds for so long now around his neck that he says it does not bother him anymore. It has
become apart of him. When one has become desensitized from the situation, there is no hope for an
uprising or change.
This is why the person who is in their mid thirties living with their parents all their life are most
likely not going to move out anytime soon on their own will. After a longer period of time, it
almost becomes comfortable and natural. To move on would actually be harder to accomplish.
This imagery shows the complete control on all aspects of life by the dictator. Any type of free
thought is immediately forgotten after sounds of automobiles crashing and shotguns going off. In
reality, this can be controlled by altering all aspects of the media, as a man takes over and
impresses his will on the given society, what he wishes to be let out to the public can be
publicized; what he does not want to be exposed, however, will not be publicized. (Compaine) The
government in the story, with the playing by the orchestra in an ill manner, does the same thing.

Current diagnostic criteria for Angela s manic episode is described through criterion A D in the
following. Criteria A requires the individual to meet at least a one week period of distinct abnormal
and persistently elevated, expansive, or irritable mood and abnormal and persistently increased goal
directed activity or energy. Angela has currently been experiencing this particular episode for ten
day now and has demonstrated symptoms of increased activity for example the West Coast fight
that the booked and the amount of money she has put into textbooks. Criteria B requires that during
this time Angela must be experiencing at least three of the listed symptoms that represent a

Angela meets this particular requirement because of the delusions and hallucinations features
and her current need to be hospitalized because of the threat she is hearing from the voices to
herself and the verbal threats she is currently making to the counselor about placing a hit on him.
Criteria D notes that the physiological effects of the episode must not be attributed from
substance use. According to the narrative, Angela does have history of alcohol use and
marijuana use but the narrative adds that her current behaviors do not seem to be related to the
episode. Additional v/z codes include topics that I would want to bring up in counseling. For the
code relating to Angela s personal history of self harm, I feel as if this would be one of the
primary topics that I would like to incorporate due to her tendencies to make suicidal gestures
with pills. I would like to explore more into her coping mechanisms and ensure safety nets for
future self harming thoughts and/or behaviors. I have also included the code relating to Angela s
psychosocial circumstances because I believe she is experiencing a clinically significant discord
with her parents and much of her delusions are focused on her irrational beliefs of what her parents
truly want for her for example, Angela believes that her parents only want to hospitalize her for the
disability

Artificial Immune Syste for Intrusion Detection System
Artificial Immune System for Intrusion detection system
An artificial immune system is a system which incorporates many properties of vertebrate immune
system which includes diversity, distributed computation, error tolerance, dynamic learning and
adaptation and self monitoring. Artificial immune system is a general framework for a distributed
adaptive system and could. Detecting intrusions is one of many applications that can be inspired by
the natural immune system.
Introduction
The biological immune system is very complicated and appears to be precisely tuned to the
problem of detecting and eliminating infections. Immune system provides a compelling example of
a parallel adaptive information processing system, one which can be studied for the purpose of
designing better systems. Some of the properties that we are interested are : It is diverse,
distributed, self monitoring, error tolerant, dynamic, and adaptable. Lets consider some properties
which give the immune system certain key characteristics which we are most interesting.
Robustness:Despite the lack of a formal definition, robustness usually refers to the continuation of
function in the presence of perturbations. This is the consequence of the fact that the immune
system is dynamic, diverse, distributed and error tolerant.
It is dynamic, which means that individual components are continually created, destroyed, and
circulated the body. It is error tolerant because the effect of any single immune

According to Maxwell and Knox (2009), academics and practitioners have extolled the potential
benefits of having a well managed cooperate brand. They have also acknowledged that corporate
branding brings new challenges that cannot be readily addressed within a traditional marketing
framework, including a need to ensure that employee behavior is consistently aligned with the
company s brand promise, but previous research has tended to focus on issues related to
recruitment. As a result, little is known about how employer branding can actually be used to
support the corporate brand. More specifically, researchers have yet to explain what makes an
organization s employer brand attractive to current employees (Maxwell Knox, 2009).
More specifically, theorists argue that a corporate brand should be closely aligned with the identity
of the organization. Corporate brand communications may include symbolism and conventional
communications such as advertising and PR. However, corporate branding also involves multiple
stakeholders interacting with numerous staff in multiple departments across an organization it
provides external stakeholders with information about the identity of the organization and if this
information is not consistent with the advertised

Analysis Of Hermann Hesse s Siddhartha
As children the formalities posed upon us that our parents are with us since birth and to a
certain extent they will always be with us even when we part home. Our parents serve us are the
sole providers until we are able to fend for ourselves, when we part we look for them in times of
need. We seek them when we are sadden by a misfortunate casualty, not obtaining the raise at work
one hoped for or not being able to purchase the house you had been planning to live on. They are
there in moments of transition, moments of change to sooth us with a comforting pat in the back or
a graceful hug for the greater achievements in our lives like marrying your significant other. But
what happens when we decide to leave our parents nest with the mindset of no return, where do we
find comfort in times of change, who will be there? That is the transition the protagonist in the
novel Siddhartha by Hermann Hessedecides to make when he leaves the comfort of his home and
finds comfort in the flow of the river.
Just as our parents are with us since birth the river was with Siddhartha. The river was with him
since a young boy in the sunshine on the river bank by the boats... Siddhartha, the handsome
Brahmin s son, grew up with his friend Govinda (3). The river wasn t just part of his childhood

Essay on Environmental Ethics
Ethics is the study of what is right and wrong in human conduct. Environmental ethics studies the
effects of human s moral relationships on the environment and everything within it (Stanford
Encyclopedia of Philosophy, 2008). The ethical principles that govern those relations determine
human duties, obligations, and responsibilities with regard to the Earth s natural environmentand all
of the animals and plants that inhabit it (Taylor, 1989). The purpose of this paper is to reveal
environmental issues that are threatening the existence of life on Earth, and discus our social
obligations to refrain from further damaging our environment, health and life for future generations.

These perspectives are anthropocentric or human centered and view all non human life as less
important than humans themselves. Environmental ethics challenges these beliefs by questioning
the assumed moral superiority of human beings to members of other species on earth (SEP, 2008).
Preservation of the environment is essential to the preservation of the human race. Global Warming
is the number one concern threatening the very existence of humans and everything within the
environment today. The human race is to blame for the destruction of the natural world. The
environmental issues that are threatening all human and non human life today, started in the
industrial revolution and the discovery of oil The need to improve the quality of life resulted in the
construction of factories to mass produce products for consumers. These factories were powered by
fossil fuels such as coal, oil and gas. The combustion of these fossil fuels emitted great quantities of
pollutants that remain in the Earths atmosphere to this day and is the number one cause of global
warming. However, in ethics one cannot evaluate just one thing. In ethics, as in nature, everything
is connected to everything else (Partridge, 1998). Deforestation for agricultural purposes and the
expansion of human habitats is happening around the world. This

The film Life of Pi is an unsuccessful adaptation by reducing the contents of Pi s knowledge of

surviving in the wild makes Pi lose control of himself when he took the fish from the tiger, and

What is smallpox/ smallpox is a very deadly disease that has killed of 3 million people
It s killed more than prostate cancer and breast cancer fatality rates together. Smallpox was the first
disease to be eliminated from the world through public health efforts and vaccination. Smallpox
still poses a threat because existing laboratory strains may be used as biological weapons.
Approximately one third of people with smallpox died from the disease. Survivors were scarred
for life. If the eye was infected, blindness often resulted. There are new experimental medications
that might be effective in smallpox, but these have not been tested in human cases since the
disease has been eradicated. The smallpox vaccine contains a live virus called vaccinia. It is
administered by dipping a pronged piece of metal into the vaccine and then pricking the skin.

from the pharmacy (WAG Annual Reports, 2007). With 65% of the sales revenue of the company
coming from the pharmacy, Walgreens declines to bargain with out of pocket customers over

customers demand choices of similar, less expensive medications if authorized by their doctor.
The amount of reimbursement Walgreens receives from Medicare, Medicaid, and Worker s

2006). According to Lueck, Medicare and Medicaid comprise 25 percent of the federal budget, and
the government cannot afford to spend at the current rate (Lueck, 2008). In order to maintain

The Battle Of Pearl Harbor
The Pacific Campaign was a series of relentless, ongoing amphibious landings and campaigns
that took place among several surrounding islands where naval and air power, rather than large
and heavy ground forces, were of utmost importance. In the Pacific Campaign, the Japanese
primary targets were the United States Navy and US Marine Corps. The United Kingdom, New
Zealand, Australia, Canada and other Allied nations also committed many forces. The Second
World War was the largest war that America had ever taken part. America first entered the war in
1941 due to a Japanese attack on the naval base, Pearl Harbor. The Japanese eventually
surrendered to the Allied forces on September 2, 1945. The invasion of Pearl Harbor was not
specifically the start of the Pacific War; there were many campaigns that took place
simultaneously. However, the invasion of Pearl Harbor was the reason the United States
entered the war on December 7, 1941. The attack, which was a complete surprise to the United
States, lasted only two hours, but it was very destructive. Since the American military leaders
never imagined an attack so close to home, most of the naval facilities at Pearl Harbor were
undefended. The Japanese destroyed almost twenty American naval ships, including 8 large
warships and nearly 200 aircraft. Over 2,000 American soldiers and sailors were killed during the
attack on Pearl Harbor. Out of 184 Japanese planes, only 29 were taken down. The day after the

Virtual Private Networks Essay
Virtual Private Networks
Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) are an easy and cost effective way to connect two or more
networks over the Internet. This is achieved by using encrypted tunnels for security and efficiency.
VPNs use encapsulated and encrypted IP packets and transport them across leased Local Area
Network (LAN) lines.
The benefits of using VPNs are reduced cost overhead, reduced management overhead, and added
security (Microsoft Press, 2000). Least network lines are expensive and VPNs reduce then need for
extra data connections. This in turn also aids in reducing the amount of overhead associated with
managing a network. The added security benefits for a network include encrypted transmission of

Cryptographic authentication is used for remote user authentication. Windows and Unix platforms
can both provide for this function. While payload encryption is used for encrypting the data that is
sent within the packet. An example of data payload encryption is Secure Socket Layer (SSL). SSL
can encrypt data without cryptographic authentication of the remote user.
VPN cryptographic authentication is used to securely validate the identity of a remote user and
determine the level of access and security appropriate for them. It may also be used to
authenticate for the exchange of secret or public payload encryption keys. Shared secret or Private
encryption keys rely on both parties knowing the keys value. Challenge response can be used to
ensure that the hashes of the Private key and not the key itself are transmitted. In addition, one time
password variations can be employed to ensure that the Private key is changed every time that they
are used.
Before data is encapsulated and sent over the Internet, it is encrypted. This is called data payload
encryption. Data payload encryption is used to encode all the contents of an IP packet, both data
and header, to hide any information about the nature of the network and data being transmitted.
This will prevent any snoopers from gathering information about the network that is sending the
packet. Data

Legal Concepts Of The Firm
1.1Legal Different Concepts of the Firm:
The precise legal details of the corporation s differ across countries. The company law of the U.K
is similar to the company law of the U.K because they share a common origin. The managers in
both countries have a fiduciary duty to the shareholders. In other words, they have a strong
requirement to act in the interests of shareholders. The channel through which shareholders
exercises control of company affairs is the board of directors. The board is elected by
shareholders and typically on a one share vote basis. Sometimes multiple classes of shares exits,
the main difference between classes being the number of votes each share has attached to it.
The board of directors consists of a mix outside directors and inside directors, the latter being the
top executives of the firm. It is rare that the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is not on the board.
In both U.S and U.K the CEO often acts as chairman as well. Once elected the board of directors
of directors specifies the business policies to be pursued by the firm. The role of management is to
implement the policies determined by the board. Shareholders have very little say in the affairs of
the company beyond electing directors. For example, it is the directors who decide on their own
compensation, without any input from shareholders. A committee of outside directors determines
the senior management compensation. Except in unusual circumstances, such as a proxy fight, the

Weaving In The Odyssey
Textile production is closely affiliated with the feminine realm of domesticated work. Spinning
and weaving were necessary skills women needed to learn in order to provide clothing and other
woven materials for their families (Reeder, 1995, 200). However, weaving was much more than a
household chore. Weavingcan tell stories or be a means of communication. It can be used for
trickery or making a political statement. The different facets of weaving are highlighted by
examining ancient primary sources.
The act of weaving became so ingrained with female domesticity that it evolved into a symbolic
ideal. Women were praised in poems, plays, inscriptions, and other forms of media for their skills

The band loom is needed to make the heading band which will be attached at the top of the warp
weighted loom (19:52). The warp threads hang down from the heading band (19:54). At the

The wefts goes over and under the warp threads forming a plain weave (Barber, 1994, 39). This

Applying Certificate Iv Of Training And Assessment
Applying Certificate IV in Training and Assessment to work in assisting youth towards market
demand in Timor Leste
Introduction
Timor Leste received independence on 30 August 1999 after a majority of the population voted for
pulling out of Indonesian occupation of the country. Life was not easy after getting the light of
independence as many sectors were destroyed to the ground by the militias. An enormous
responsibility rested on people to exert efforts to reorganize everything from the ground up. The
education system was highlighted as a core sector to be improved both in quality and service within
the country. Education and training are some of the main tools being used to wipe away the tears of
victims, who suffered much during the conflict. Technical vocational educationand training
(TVET) is believed to be a key area which will assist in restoring many devastated sectors which
totally paralyzed the country. In early 2010, the TVET system was formally established in a
national strategic plan with a particular function in assuring, formulating and establishing the
national qualification framework (NQF) (PATVET, 2011). It has been tremendously effective
through its system of competence based training and competence based assessment in working
towards market needs. This TVET system has evolved smoothly in Timor Leste as it is culturally
appropriate to local beliefs and is flexible in its approach. The role of the TVET System in
producing competent and qualified

Big Dat An Essential Part Of Every Business Operation
Introduction:
You may have heard the term Big Data often these days and the importance of analytics attached to
it. The availability of good data set and analytics of it provide organizations ability to understand
consumer behavior and future prospects. This has now become an essential part of every business
operation. Data itself is not a new thing to humans, written records have been in existence since 4th
millennium BC. What has changed recently is that with digital inventions and significant growth in
internet access, most people are on the electronic grid for longer periods and spending lot of time
on emails, messaging, entertainment and social media applications. This huge growth in data
generation has given birth to the concept of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For most organizations, data analysis is a challenging task, as first it require dealing with both
structured and unstructured forms of data. Then an organization may have to deal with data
stored across many separate silos (as various groups such as sales marketing; operations and
supply chain management etc., may have separate IT systems). It is also quite possible that most
of the silo systems do not talk to each other, this is especially true of the legacy platforms which
may have technical challenges in connecting to each other or may require use of special software
interfaces. Lastly the volume of data is large to process and the traditional tools may not be
effective to do such analysis. To handle various types of data (structured and unstructured) and large
data volumes, many vendors have developed specialized software which can perform predictive
analysis, data mining, forecasting and optimization. Together these tools are referred to as high
performance analytics.
In comparison to the traditional business intelligence, big data does provide major improvements.
Traditional business intelligence is top down approach whereas big data is bottom up and
empowers end users with a valuable analysis thus enabling them to take prompt and smart
business decisions. The value generated from big data analytics is applicable to all sectors. The
advantages of big data analytics are huge but it also raise serious concerns

Henderson And Boswell Analysis
The need to make a work such as Fuente Ovejuna accessible to modern audiences is apparent in
Boswell s non literal translation, done, according to the translator, to avoid a dry text (Stratford
Festival). Boswell did not alter the plot or the time period: the rant about printing presses in Act
f, Scene f remained as such, and Mengo s song in Act II, Scene V, was thematically constant as
the comic relief, in which the gracioso ridicules poets by comparing them to pastry chefs (de Vega
37, 60). However, the language was what evolved to be appropriate and entertaining for a 21st
century audience; a webcast presented the process for this adaptation presented, demonstrating how
composer Ed Henderson and Boswell experimented with lyrics in a collaboration session for music

This modernization of the text was successful in terms of audience response, which, according to
several reviewers, was enthusiastic and included a standing ovation on opening night (Dixon).
Critically, the production also received generally warm reviews, although it was not without its
faults. Critics lauded the chemistry and performance skill of Sara Topham and Jonathan Goad, who
played Laurencia and Frondosa, respectively, emphasizing the work s similarity to Shakespeare in
the challenge and necessity for talented actors to portray a convincing and rational love story in a
potentially outdated plot, especially in one that involves violence towards

Disadvantages Of Space Colonization
Space colonization (also called space settlement, or extraterrestrial colonization) is permanent
human habitation off planet Earth.
Many arguments have been made for space colonizationThe two most common are survival of
human civilization and the biosphere in case of a planetary scale disaster (natural or man made),
and the vast resources in space for expansion of human society.
No space colonies have been built so far. Currently, the building of a space colony would present
a set of huge challenges both technological and economic. Space settlements would have to
provide for nearly all (or all) the material needs of hundreds or thousands of humans, in an
environment out in space that is very hostile to human life. They would involve technologies, such
as controlled ecological life support systems, that have yet to be developed in any meaningful way.
They would also have to deal with the as yet unknown issue of how humans would behave and
thrive in such places long term. Because of the present cost of sending anything from the surface of
the Earth into orbit (around $2,500 per pound to orbit, expected to further decrease)[2] a space
colony would currently be a massively expensive project.
There are no plans for building one by any large scale organization, either government or private.
However, there have been many proposals, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Halle, formerly of the United States Department of State, wrote in Foreign Affairs (Summer 1980)

the human species on Earth, a self sufficient colony could reverse colonize Earth and restore human
civilization. The author and journalist William E. Burrows and the biochemist Robert Shapiro
proposed a private project, the Alliance to Rescue Civilization, with the goal of establishing an off

Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night Figurative Language
The poem Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night by Dylan Thomas is a story about the poet s
father dying. The poet uses the story of the poem, different types of figurative language and tone to
create a feeling of conflict within the poem. Throughout this poem the conflict between person and
nature is clear.
Death is a part of nature and something that everyone must face. The poet writes about his father s
slow death and urges him to fight against it. Line two stanza one of the poem tells us do not go
gentle into that goodnight . The poet is trying to encourage his father to not give in to death.
Figurative language also helps shows us the conflict of the poem.

were so close that we could walk to it. We walked to the resort at night to see how it was because

Comparing Herodotus And De Vaca s Writing Styles
A Comparison of Styles
Herodotus versus de Vaca Throughout the course of the world, there have been many great
civilizations that have risen and fallen from power. Many of these civilizations are remembered not
only through the texts or works that they themselves produced, but through the writings of later
historians. Herodotus was an example of a later historian, because he wrote about a civilization of
old, de Vaca was a historian of the moment because he covered a civilization as he experienced it.
The contrast in the two styles is plainly evident for the most part in the two literary pieces.
Herodotus has a very distinct style compared to de Vaca and as de Vaca s works came later it
can be assumed that he was partially influenced by Herodotus. The three main areas that
Herodotus and de Vaca s works differ are the time period in which they wrote their pieces, how
they regarded their subject matter, and who they were writing about. As before mentioned, one of
the biggest differences between Herodotus and de Vaca is the time period in which they wrote their
pieces. Herodotus was a later historian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Herodotus was writing his passage mainly on the Egyptian people, but he did have references to his
native people the Greeks. De Vaca mainly covered the Avavares, a tribe in modern day Texas who
existed from 1527 1534 according to most historians. The Avavares were short lived as they
were often conquered by more powerful tribes in their area, where the Egyptians were the ones
who were often doing the conquering in the Middle East. The two subjects themselves could not
be more different as the Egyptians owned slaves and the Avavares ended up as slaves. Because of
this discrepancy, there can be no mistaking who is who in the two passages. Herodotus and de
Vaca come from similar backgrounds, but the backgrounds of their two chosen subjects could not

Character Change In Macbeth
In the play Macbeth, William Shakespeare showcases throughout the story as the main character
Macbeth slowly changes in consciousness through his conquest for power. Shakespeare manages to
portray their change in character through excitement associated with external action. Shakespeare
shows through the course of the play as Macbethchanges from loyal general of King Duncanas he
transitions to the tyrant king who will do anything to have his way. At first, Macbeth and his wife,
Lady Macbeth, plot to murder King Duncan in hopes of becoming the next king because of a
prophecy that was foretold by three witches. To further emphasize on this change at the beginning
of the play, it is not Macbeth who presents the idea of murdering King... Show more content on

This enforces the idea that Macbeth has a guilty conscience and understands no matter how hard
he tries he will not be able to clean his hands of this wrongful deed. After the murder of King
Duncan Macbeth s guilt starts to eat away at him a dagger of the mind, a false creation (II.I.50).
This shows that Macbeth is becoming aware of his dark nature within himself. the dagger scene
shows criminality becomes a field for phenomenological speculation in the play (Curran). This
point by Curran emphasizes as to how Shakespeare slowly introduces how Macbeth will slowly
have a change in heart. As the play goes on, Macbeth is having mixed thoughts about every
minor detail as he regrets things that he already set out to do, but he understands that he must
carry out these malicious deeds for the prophecies to become true. As the story progresses,
Macbeth becomes more and more paranoid as one of the prophecies the three witches
prophesied that Banquo s descendants will be kings. Macbeth realizes that his ownership of the
crown may be short because he does not know when Banquo s prophecy will come true, so he
plots to kill Banquo they hailed him father to a line of kings upon my head they placed a fruitless
crown (III.I.65 66). Macbeth realizes that his reign as king will have no impact compared to
Banquo s descendants. This shows that Macbeth has fully changed in character from loyal general
to tyrant king. Instead of being content with

Loss of Innocence in Truman Capote s In Cold Blood Essay
All things truly wicked start from an innocence, states Ernest Hemingway on his view of
innocence. Innocence, what every youth possesses, is more accurately described as a state of
unknowing but not ignorance which connotation suggests a blissfully positive view of the world.
Most youth are protected from the harsh realities of the adult world. Therefore they are able to
maintain their state of innocence. While innocence normally wanes over time, sometimes
innocence can be abruptly taken away. Some of the characters in Truman Capotes In Cold Bloodlost
their innocence due to the traumatic events they experienced in childhood and adulthood while
some had none to begin with.
Innocence can be stolen but the desire to return to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Parents are supposed to shelter their children from the fraudulent outside world and keep their
purity intact. Perry Smith, murderer of the Clutter family, had an upbringing that was marked by
brutality and lack of concern on the part of both parents. Due to his childhood he seems to have
grown up without direction, and without ever having absorbed any fixed sense of moral values.
He felt no regret for murdering the family, only that he felt sorry that they were the ones that ...
had to pay for it. While Dick considered Perry as innocent, he had never been with a woman , he
believed Perry was a natural born killer who attaches little real value to human life . Perry s tragic
upbringing had turned him into a cold blooded killer unaware of the beauty of innocence, which he
so easily stole from the Clutter family the moment he killed them. Innocent people cannot be
protected from the individual whose innocence is not present.
If innocence is not present in an individual it cannot be protected. An individual of this kind makes
choices that effect how corrupt they can become. Dick Hickock had a loving family, who
supported and loved him as he grew up. Even though he was in a nurturing environment that
protected him from the corrupt society around him, he still became a criminal. This shows that
innocence, if not present in the first place, cannot be salvaged. After passing hot checks he was put
in jail where his jealousy of

Ebola Virus Is A Serious Virus Disease
Ebola Virus is a serious transmitted disease by both humans and animals. The disease first
appeared in 1976 in 2 simultaneous outbreaks, one in Nzara, Sudan, and the other in Yambuku,
Democratic Republic of Congo. The latter occurred in a village near the Ebola River, from which
the virus received its name. EbolaVirus is a member of the negative stranded RNA viruses known
as filoviruses. There are currently, five different strains of the Ebola Virus including, Zaire
(EBOV), Sudan (SUDV), Bundibuguyo (BDBV), TaГЇ Forest (TAFV) and Reston (RESTV). Each
of the strains of the virus are very closely related including Reston which only effects animals. Yet,
Ebola Zaire is the most highly virulent subtype, often leading to death. All of the different types of
the virus are extremely dangerous and often cause death if untreated.
Description:
Ebola is an acute, infectious, hemorrhagic viral fever. It is an enveloped, single stranded,
unsegmented, negative sense RNA virus. The genomes (complete set of genes) of the five
different Ebola viruses differ in sequence and the number and location of gene overlaps. Ebola
virons are filamentous particles that can appear in the shape of a shepherd s crook, a 6 , a U ,
coiled, toroid or branched. The virons of the disease are roughly 80 nm (nanometers) in width and
can be as long as 14,000 nm. Yet the average length of a viron is approximately 920 nm.

Later in stanzas 2 4, lunch, coffee and dinner plans are made with the usual Good bye at the end. In
these first four stanzas the author is only focusing on common details of a relationship s beginning

stanzas 5 6. In stanza 5 lines 13 14 the imagery of the speaker watching the snow fall and looking

Line 19 in stanza 6 reveals that Good bye is the only story people know or seem to remember the

How Does Ocean Temperature Affect Marine Life
The effect of increasing ocean temperatures is important to understand because the rising
temperatures influence the physiology, ecology, distribution and evolution of marine life. Marine
biologists have observed changes in cell physiological processes, protein damage to membrane
fluidity, relocation of marine species, and species extinction since the sea temperatures have risen.
Marine life also faces greater susceptibility to infectious diseases due to climatechange. Distribution
and abundance of marine life food sources have also been affected by warmer ocean temperatures.
Atmospheric and ocean surface temperatures are increasing much faster in the Northern
Hemisphere than in the Southern Hemisphere. Figure 1a shows Northern Hemisphere temperature
increasing at a faster rate than Southern Hemisphere temperatures. Hemispheric marine warming
asymmetry has largely attributed to more ocean coverage and therefore larger heat capacity and
thermal inertia in the Southern Hemisphere compared to the Northern Hemisphere. A stronger ice
albedo positive feedback in the Arctic than in the Antarctic further enhances the inter hemispheric
asymmetry (1.) Albedo is the measure of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The average temperature of the upper layer (0 700 meters below sea level) has increased more
than three times as much as the lower (700 2000 meters below sea level). This is because the
ocean is heated from above and it takes time for the heat to penetrate deeper. Satellite and direct
temperature measurements indicate that the abyssal layer, below 2000 meters, has not warmed
measurably. (12)
Faster surface waters warming compared to that of lower water levels increases stratification
between warmer, less dense surface water and colder, denser water below the surface. Increased
stratification decreases vertical mixing between these layers and prevents nutrients transfer from
deeper waters to the surface waters.

Analysis Of Loren Eiseley s Essay The Brown Wasps
Almost everyone faces a deep tragedy in their life that shakes their foundation of being. Usually
in the face of such a loss, one pushes it to a deep crevice of one s mind in an attempt to continue
life as before. Loren Eiseley s essay, The Brown Wasps, speaks to those who have faced loss,
telling them that no matter how hard one tries to repress a significant memory, the thought will

home of a mouse, the feeding area of pigeons, and his own childhood tree. In each of these
scenes, the protagonists always try to grasp at the same place at first, because denial is the first
stage of grief, or they try to find a place familiar to what they lost,

The Debate Over Open Carry Of Handguns
In recent years, open carry of handguns has become the controversial issue in America since the
Supreme Court s decisions in District of Columbia v. Heller and in McDonald v. City of Chicago
advocated protecting the Second Amendment (MELTZER). More and more states have allowed
certain forms of open carry law for handguns, but Texas is one of few states that prohibit outright
any open carry of guns (GRIEDER). The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution
states a well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the
people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. The people who support the open carry law
point out that bans on gun are against the Second Amendment, which established the right for
every citizen to keep and bear arms. The National Rifle Association (NRA), the powerful lobby
against gun control, believes that human will still use their gun responsibly if there is no law
(National Rifle...); however, the people who do not support open carry argue that gun control can
decrease the risk of crime and also stop the potential to serial shooters to occur. Since gun control
has become a controversial issue in American politics, people might wonder the Second
Amendment is about individual or collective right? However, in the book by the author Saul

The Beauty Of The Garment Essay
Cool in Costume
The definition of cool is dependent on unique characteristics that allows something to stand out
from the mainstream fads of modern society. Characteristics, including the novelty, the design, the
function, and the overall appeal, are what makes something cool to us, the consumers, and it is
these characteristics that are most evident in trends related to clothing and fashion. Clothing
functions as not only a social necessity, but also a versatile mean of self expression and cultural
identity. The beauty of the garment has caught the eye of many modern designers who incorporate
the traditional aspects of the Cheongsam, also known as the qipao , into contemporary designs.
Designers have created works art with the Cheongsam that have caught the attention of individuals
in Shanghai and Hong Kong who are fascinated by contemporary stylistic aspect of Chinese fashion
in the 21st century, revitalizing the Cheongsam into a garment that has both cultural significance
and artistic relevance for its wearer and beholder. Therefore, the purpose of this rhetorical analysis
is to discuss and analyze how the people in 21st century Shanghai and Hong Kong regard Chinese
garment as cool and the characteristics that make it cool . There were many traditional fashion
styles established during the dynasties eras in Chinese history, but the Cheongsam is the only
garment that is still prominently worn in modern society in Shanghai and Hong Kong. The
Cheongsam was first

The Hurt Locker Analysis
I have recently watched The Hurt Locker with my class. I have never seen this movie before,
but the movie was about a guy who was a bomb detacher. I do not know the specific name for
those people, but bomb detacher sounds right. He and his bomb squad went through a lot together
during the war. They faced the thought of dying every day. They found bombs all over the place
that they were at. The director made the intensity of the scenes with the bombs very realistic. The
emotion of the characters while detaching the bombs were realistic and the reality of the emotion
made the viewers feel as if though they were at the site too. The movie s setting was during and in
the war. The bomb guy was the main character of the movie and he spent most of... Show more

American Sniper is about a man in the Army, who was obviously a sniper. He was one of the
best snipers that the Army had ever had. He had saved millions of lives by being a sniper. He
even moved up in the ranks of the military because he wanted to be more than someone who was
just the best sniper. He ended up being one of the most recognized men that has ever been in the
Army. His funeral procession was the biggest one that I have ever seen. It was amazing seeing
all of those people lined up along the roads and on the bridges to see him off. The difference
between the two main characters of each movie is that one was a sniper, and one was part of a
bomb squad. A bomb squad is people in the military who search for bombs and detach the wires
that set them off. They have to wear special suits and everything and risk killing themselves
every day. They had two totally different jobs, but both jobs were equally gut wrenching and
terrifying. This movie mad tons of money when it first came out. This movie deserved the money
that it raised. When rating this film I would have to give it a four out of five stars because some of
the scenes drag out, but this movie is a well liked movie and deserves to

Cerebral Isolation Using Word Processing
Cerebral Isolation Using Word Processing
Bianca Barreto
Texas Tech University Abstract
In general, the brain is thought to be lateralized with the two hemispheres having control of the
opposite side of the body and their own functionalities. In this case, the left hemisphere dominates in
language and verbal capabilities controlling the right side of the body including the right visual field
. Using this fact and the difference in visual fields, subjects were asked to focus on a flashing
screen with a pulsating plus sign. Vertically oriented words would flash on either the left or right
side of the plus sign in order to isolate individual hemispheres. The time to correctly identify the
words was recorded and compared between the left and right visual fields as well as between
males and females. In this case, there was a significant difference between visual fields with the
right side being significantly faster at processing words. In addition, males showed greater
differences between visual fields when compared to females. These findings suggest that the right
hemisphere is more selective in word processing and that males are more lateralized than females.
Cerebral Isolation Using Word Processing Insufficient information is known about how words are
processed by the brain. Within the scientific community, the brain is believed to be lateralized
(Tucha, Aschenbrenner, Lange, 2000). In this case, the left hemisphere controls the right side of the

Emotions No PDA! I will continue to hear through out my day when I went from class to class at
the midst of passing period during high school and middle school. I never knew what teachers
meant by saying that until they would start to get on my case about showing some affection to the
girlfriend I had at that time. That was when I learned that PDA abbreviates Public Display of
Affection and one of the first times I learned an American display rule. At the same time, I believe
some manners may contribute to the display rules. Then, the topic of it is unmanly for a man to
show their emotions. The other discussion about holding in anger opposed to expressing it. I
believe there are limitations to how menshow their emotions, but I do believe that men should be
able to show their emotions. Also, anyone should be able express his or her emotions instead of
holding it and letting it all come out all at once. First, Some of the American display rules are
manners. As an example, when I was younger I was taught it is unacceptable to belch and not say
excuse me at the table with even if the situation is accidental. My motherwould poke arm or pinch
my arm as punishment until I would say those majestic words to make my arm stop hurting. I
completely understand why burping at without saying excuse me is unacceptable now. No one
wants to hear anyone else let out gas in any way. It may have a disgusting same that follows it, and
is so unexpected that the belch may offend someone.

High Performance Computing ( Hpc )
Abstract High performance computing (HPC) means aggregation of computational power to
increase the ability of processing large problems in science, engineering, and business. HPC on the
cloud allows performing on demand HPC tasks by high performance clusters in cloud environment.
Connection structure of nodes in HPC clusters should provide fast communication between nodes.
Besides, it should provide scalability as well. A hypercube topology for connection nodes in a HPC
cluster leads to have fast communications between nodes. In addition, a hypercube topology

performance in High Performance Cloud Computing model is still an important issue: High

Characteristics Of Understanding The Culture And Society...
The mother art is architecture. Without an architecture of our own we have no soul of our own
civilization.
Frank Lloyd Wright
Architecture is an important aspect of understanding the culture and society of any civilisation.
Today I will be looking what similarities and differences can be seen between the Minoan
architecture from 1900BC to 1150BC and the Roman architecture from 27BC to 180AD. I ll be
mainly focusing on the palaces of Knossos and Phaistos of Minoan, Crete and The Colosseum ad
the Pantheon of Rome.
The architecture of Bronze Age Crete seems to be defined by the archaeological discoveries of
Knossos, Phaistos, Maila, Zakros and Palekastro. These four palaces and one town are the only
major pieces of Minoan building from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Occupation continued in Knossos until 1200 BC when it was destroyed by fire, Knossos
appears to have been kept intact until the fire as a sort of headquarters while all the other palaces
were destroyed. The ruins we have today from discoveries made by Sir Arthur Evans in 1900 AD
are the remains from after the Palace of Knossos was burnt down. Knossos is a clear example of
monumental (of great importance or size) Minoan architecture.
There are several major courts that make up the Knossos palace; these include the large,
rectangular Central Court, the West Court, the West and East Wings, the theater, royal chambers,
shrines and the Throne Room. Like most Minoan buildings the Central Court seems to be the
main focus of the building. Stone was the primary building material, but also included a timber
frame for flexibility. Mortar linked the stones together and wood was used for all the columns,
doors, windows and roofs. The interior walls were plastered with clay and often had bright
frescoes painted on them. The floors were generally beaten down earth, but sometimes had small
pebbles stuck into them. Lighting and ventilation was primarily utilized through light wells, vertical
airshafts that ran the full height of the buildings. Drainage was controlled through a series of
terracotta pipes and stone ductwork. The best preserved section of this drainage system is below
the East Wing. Polythyron doors are common feature of Minoan palaces and Evans

It s a dreary morning, the sky was blocked by clouds that looked like they were about to pour on

Then the line started moving forward. As I made my way though the corridors, the line finally

There were boilers in every corner and I all most ran into one! Finally we stopped in front of an
elevator with dim green lights shining on the doors. After we stood there for about three minutes,
we heard a ding like the elevator was coming and the doors opened. Once I had heard the ding, I
had already known that it was our turn to get on and I was terrified.
I started walking in, taking shaky steps as I sat down and braced myself for the scariest ride I will
have ever been on. Before I had gotten on my brother told me to get good seats, so I sat in the very
front.
It took a while for everybody to get on so I sat there waiting for the people to stop coming on, but
my head was clouded with thousands of thoughts like, what if the ride got stuck or will I get
sick? Before I could ask my mom if she thought everything was going to be fine when the doors
shut and I realized that everybody was already seated and buckled in. So I took deep breaths and
tried to calm myself when suddenly, it started to move and the lights switched off. Then dim
lights like the ones at a hospital at night turned on casting a faint glow across the elevator. It

The Bungling Host Summary
Group 1, Question C) One of the stories that I thought was mostly for entertainment was The
Story of Ong . From what I noticed was that in most of the stories it taught some sort of lesson or
tells us why things are the way they are. But in this story there wasn t really anything that we
learned from it. For example, in Damollale and the Water Baby at the end it says, Then the lake
returned to its original bed, but as it retreated it left water in all the depressions in the area. That is
why there are many small lakes in the mountains near Lake Tahoe, which is directly telling us
what we need to know from hearing this story (Glotfetly 27). But in the story of the Washo and the

In the Bungling Host it tell us the reason why certain animals look the way they do, it also has a
lot of unnecessary details. While reading it I was expecting a different ending. But it tells us that
the Coyote pushes in the Wildcats nose while the Wildcat sharpens and makes the Coyote s nose
pointy (Glotfelty 9). While in Wolf and Coyote Origin of Death it is more direct and get to the
point a lot faster. It was also a bit more predictable. In this story the wolf wants to make humans
immortal, but the coyote tells him no because humans are old enough they die and he enjoys eating
them (Glotfelty 24). One thing I noticed that is similar between both stories is that the coyote
character is the reason why things turned out the way they are; the Coyote character is the reason
why humans die, and the reason why wildcats and coyotes have the noses they

Mary Jenkinson Research Paper
When James I was king, the sport of bear bating became popular. Bears, dogs, lions, and other
animals were forced to fight each other to the death for entertainment. He even had a special
platform built so the court could witness these royal games. There was disappointment when the
battles weren t bloody even more so when the animals simply refused to fight. Between the rough
treatment of the animals and the poor living conditions they faced, it was only a matter of time
before someone lost their life. In 1686, a woman named Mary Jenkinson got too close to a lion.
As she was petting its paw, the animal caught her arm in its mouth and tore it apart. Doctors
amputated the mangled arm but Mary died shortly after the attack. Mary s case wasn t the first

The Effects Of Light Pollution On The Outdoor Environment
Definition: Also known as photopollution is misdirected, obstructive or unneeded artificial light.
Pollution is the adding of/added light itself, in analogy to added sound, carbon dioxide, etc. Adverse
consequences are multiple; some of them may not be known yet. Scientific definitions thus include
the following: Degradation of photic habitat by artificial light. Alteration of natural light levels in
the outdoor environment owing to artificial light sources. Light pollution is the alteration of light
levels in the outdoor environment (from those present naturally) due to man made sources of light.
Indoor light pollution is such alteration of light levels in the indoor environment due to sources of
light, which compromises human health.[3] Light pollution is the introduction by humans, directly
or indirectly, of artificial light into the environment. The first three of the above four scientific
definitions describe the state of the environment. The fourth (and newest) one describes the process
of polluting by light. Light pollution competes with starlight in the night sky for urban residents,
interferes with astronomical observatories, and, like any other form of pollution, disrupts
ecosystems and has adverse health effects. Light pollution can be divided into two main types:
Unpleasant light that intrudes on an otherwise natural or low light setting Excessive light
(generally indoors) that leads to discomfort and adverse health effects Light pollution is a

Common House Construction Of Houses In The Aztecs
The Aztecs dwellings tended to be built on a similar pattern in the empire (though smaller for the
poorer classes and larger for the nobles), there were several variations on the theme. Some houses
would have flat pole roofs, others peaked roofs. Though it was common for houses to be built right
on the ground, some were built on platform.
Materials included in common house construction included straw, wood, stone, sand, lime, and
clay. Straw would often be used for the construction of roofs. Adobe bricks, very common in the
construction of houses in the Aztec empire, would be made from water, sand, clay, and a material
such as straw. The name translates to dried brick in Spanish. Floors might be dirt, stone, or plastered.

  • 2. Nanook Of The North Documentary A documentary is an art form pulling away from a film as it tries to create the illusion of reality by becoming non fiction. Film creates a great sense of escape but documentaries create a sense of realism. The history of documentary began quite basic by just facing the mirror towards nature. But as the years prolonged; ideologies, societies and controversies arose and documentary makers decided to block certain parts of the mirror to show what they want you to see, the truth . The very first documentary was released in 1922, Nanook of the North directed by Robert Flaherty. This became the first sense of revealing nature and reality as itself, whilst creating a form of narrative, as people tend to lean towards drama. In the contemporary world,... Michael Moore uses this as a strategic way to lure and catch he viewer s emotions by showing them a sensitive topic and sensitive imagery, as the Columbine Massacre is a tragic event (Willcox, E. ... Ethics can be defined as a process of evaluating actions according to moral principal of values(A.Alhemoud). Throughout the centuries people were trying to choose between profit and moral. Perhaps, some of them obtain both, but every time it could have roused ethical issues. Those issues concern fairness, justice, rightness or wrongness; as a result it can only be resolved according to ethical standards. • 5. Mathematics And Mathematical Application For Mathematics Mathematics and mathematical application has become a huge part of my life, if not the majority of my life. Whether budgeting while doing my weekly grocery shopping, or calculating the coefficient of friction between rubber and asphalt to create a tire with maximum miles, mathematics is a crucial part of the world as we know it. Personally, my favorite part of Math is that it can be seen anywhere; Math is involved in almost every subject in school and practically every part of life. Knowing this, my interest in the subject grew exponentially. This expectation is an opportunity for me to show how in love I ve fallen with math not only inside the classroom, but also outside. I will use various articles collected within my three years are a math Ed. major to prove that I am not only proficient in love with mathematics, but I am providing the grounds for my students to also fall in love with this great subject. The First piece of evidence I would like to view is a trigonometry worksheet I created, and put to use in my classroom. When I first started teaching in the program I thought this would be a near impossible task for me to complete. After a few trial runs, and many critiques from Mr. Uhls and the Math department, I can finally say that I am comfortable in the art. Although this is a skill all teachers must be comfortable in, it is also important to know there are many other resources out for free use thanks to the internet. Karl Marx inquired the structure of communism through the Manifesto to ensure equality to a large socially grouped people. According to Vonnegut, so did the U.S. government, in the year 2081. In the outrageous short story of Harrison Bergeron, many historic achievements and ideas, like the Manifesto, can closely parallel with that of the future outlook described by Vonnegut. People are not forced to exercise so they could be equal with the stronger; rather the strong must equal themselves by adding weights to make them weaker. This produces a sickly and depressing view of society. The people themselves become lesser. After time, the dictatorship of downward living becomes almost a way of live. George has been carrying this burden of forty seven pounds for so long now around his neck that he says it does not bother him anymore. It has become apart of him. When one has become desensitized from the situation, there is no hope for an uprising or change. This is why the person who is in their mid thirties living with their parents all their life are most likely not going to move out anytime soon on their own will. After a longer period of time, it almost becomes comfortable and natural. To move on would actually be harder to accomplish. This imagery shows the complete control on all aspects of life by the dictator. Any type of free thought is immediately forgotten after sounds of automobiles crashing and shotguns going off. In reality, this can be controlled by altering all aspects of the media, as a man takes over and impresses his will on the given society, what he wishes to be let out to the public can be publicized; what he does not want to be exposed, however, will not be publicized. According to the narrative, Angela does have history of alcohol use and marijuana use but the narrative adds that her current behaviors do not seem to be related to the episode. Additional v/z codes include topics that I would want to bring up in counseling. For the code relating to Angela s personal history of self harm, I feel as if this would be one of the primary topics that I would like to incorporate due to her tendencies to make suicidal gestures with pills. I would like to explore more into her coping mechanisms and ensure safety nets for future self harming thoughts and/or behaviors. I have also included the code relating to Angela s psychosocial circumstances because I believe she is experiencing a clinically significant discord with her parents and much of her delusions are focused on her irrational beliefs of what her parents truly want for her for example, Angela believes that her parents only want to hospitalize her for the disability ... They have also acknowledged that corporate branding brings new challenges that cannot be readily addressed within a traditional marketing framework, including a need to ensure that employee behavior is consistently aligned with the company s brand promise, but previous research has tended to focus on issues related to recruitment. As a result, little is known about how employer branding can actually be used to support the corporate brand. More specifically, researchers have yet to explain what makes an organization s employer brand attractive to current employees (Maxwell Knox, 2009). More specifically, theorists argue that a corporate brand should be closely aligned with the identity of the organization. Corporate brand communications may include symbolism and conventional communications such as advertising and PR. However, corporate branding also involves multiple stakeholders interacting with numerous staff in multiple departments across an organization it provides external stakeholders with information about the identity of the organization and if this information is not consistent with the advertised ... Analysis Of Hermann Hesse s Siddhartha As children the formalities posed upon us that our parents are with us since birth and to a certain extent they will always be with us even when we part home. Our parents serve us are the sole providers until we are able to fend for ourselves, when we part we look for them in times of need. We seek them when we are sadden by a misfortunate casualty, not obtaining the raise at work one hoped for or not being able to purchase the house you had been planning to live on. They are there in moments of transition, moments of change to sooth us with a comforting pat in the back or a graceful hug for the greater achievements in our lives like marrying your significant other. But what happens when we decide to leave our parents nest with the mindset of no return, where do we find comfort in times of change, who will be there? That is the transition the protagonist in the novel Siddhartha by Hermann Hessedecides to make when he leaves the comfort of his home and finds comfort in the flow of the river. Just as our parents are with us since birth the river was with Siddhartha. The river was with him since a young boy in the sunshine on the river bank by the boats... Siddhartha, the handsome Brahmin s son, grew up with his friend Govinda (3). The river wasn t just part of his childhood but it played a significant role in his religion. These perspectives are anthropocentric or human centered and view all non human life as less important than humans themselves. Environmental ethics challenges these beliefs by questioning the assumed moral superiority of human beings to members of other species on earth (SEP, 2008). Preservation of the environment is essential to the preservation of the human race. Global Warming is the number one concern threatening the very existence of humans and everything within the environment today. The human race is to blame for the destruction of the natural world. The environmental issues that are threatening all human and non human life today, started in the industrial revolution and the discovery of oil The need to improve the quality of life resulted in the construction of factories to mass produce products for consumers. These factories were powered by fossil fuels such as coal, oil and gas. The combustion of these fossil fuels emitted great quantities of pollutants that remain in the Earths atmosphere to this day and is the number one cause of global warming. The Battle Of Pearl Harbor The Pacific Campaign was a series of relentless, ongoing amphibious landings and campaigns that took place among several surrounding islands where naval and air power, rather than large and heavy ground forces, were of utmost importance. In the Pacific Campaign, the Japanese primary targets were the United States Navy and US Marine Corps. The United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia, Canada and other Allied nations also committed many forces. The Second World War was the largest war that America had ever taken part. No space colonies have been built so far. Currently, the building of a space colony would present a set of huge challenges both technological and economic. Space settlements would have to provide for nearly all (or all) the material needs of hundreds or thousands of humans, in an environment out in space that is very hostile to human life. Comparing Herodotus And De Vaca s Writing Styles A Comparison of Styles Herodotus versus de Vaca Throughout the course of the world, there have been many great civilizations that have risen and fallen from power. Many of these civilizations are remembered not only through the texts or works that they themselves produced, but through the writings of later historians. Herodotus was an example of a later historian, because he wrote about a civilization of old, de Vaca was a historian of the moment because he covered a civilization as he experienced it. The contrast in the two styles is plainly evident for the most part in the two literary pieces. Herodotus has a very distinct style compared to de Vaca and as de Vaca s works came later it can be assumed that he was partially influenced by Herodotus. The three main areas that Herodotus and de Vaca s works differ are the time period in which they wrote their pieces, how they regarded their subject matter, and who they were writing about. The program was designed in 2001 by the encouragement of the community leaders of San Bernardino with the emphasis to show troubled teens the reality of incarceration. Juveniles have misconceptions about what life in jail is truly like (Department, 2018).What gained my interest was that the Sheriff s department would introduce the juveniles to the damaging effects of high speed police pursuits, gang violence, and drive by shootings. The juveniles would witness the after effects of each of these events and the consequences of the delinquencies. The article explains ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Ebola Virus Is A Serious Virus Disease Ebola Virus is a serious transmitted disease by both humans and animals. The disease first appeared in 1976 in 2 simultaneous outbreaks, one in Nzara, Sudan, and the other in Yambuku, Democratic Republic of Congo. The latter occurred in a village near the Ebola River, from which the virus received its name. EbolaVirus is a member of the negative stranded RNA viruses known as filoviruses. There are currently, five different strains of the Ebola Virus including, Zaire (EBOV), Sudan (SUDV), Bundibuguyo (BDBV), TaГЇ Forest (TAFV) and Reston (RESTV). Each of the strains of the virus are very closely related including Reston which only effects animals. Yet, Ebola Zaire is the most highly virulent subtype, often leading to death. All of the different types of the virus are extremely dangerous and often cause death if untreated. Description: Ebola is an acute, infectious, hemorrhagic viral fever. It is an enveloped, single stranded, unsegmented, negative sense RNA virus. The genomes (complete set of genes) of the five different Ebola viruses differ in sequence and the number and location of gene overlaps. Ebola virons are filamentous particles that can appear in the shape of a shepherd s crook, a 6 , a U , coiled, toroid or branched. The virons of the disease are roughly 80 nm (nanometers) in width and can be as long as 14,000 nm. Yet the average length of a viron is approximately 920 nm. In these first four stanzas the author is only focusing on common details of a relationship s beginning and end which everyone is familiar with. In stanza 5 lines 13 14 the imagery of the speaker watching the snow fall and looking at the white pine gives off the feeling of the remembrance of someone the speaker once knew. Line 19 in stanza 6 reveals that Good bye is the only story people know or seem to remember the most. All relationships repeat the same cycle of beginning and end. Either if its death as it is represented by winter which is the season of coldness and darkness in stanzas 5 6 or if the relationship just didn t work out. The imagery and repetition being used in this poem helps the author get her point across. • 36. How Does Ocean Temperature Affect Marine Life The effect of increasing ocean temperatures is important to understand because the rising temperatures influence the physiology, ecology, distribution and evolution of marine life. Marine biologists have observed changes in cell physiological processes, protein damage to membrane fluidity, relocation of marine species, and species extinction since the sea temperatures have risen. Marine life also faces greater susceptibility to infectious diseases due to climatechange. Distribution and abundance of marine life food sources have also been affected by warmer ocean temperatures. Atmospheric and ocean surface temperatures are increasing much faster in the Northern Hemisphere than in the Southern Hemisphere. Figure 1a shows Northern Hemisphere temperature increasing at a faster rate than Southern Hemisphere temperatures. Hemispheric marine warming asymmetry has largely attributed to more ocean coverage and therefore larger heat capacity and thermal inertia in the Southern Hemisphere compared to the Northern Hemisphere. A stronger ice albedo positive feedback in the Arctic than in the Antarctic further enhances the inter hemispheric asymmetry (1.) Albedo is the measure of the ... Satellite and direct temperature measurements indicate that the abyssal layer, below 2000 meters, has not warmed measurably. More and more states have allowed certain forms of open carry law for handguns, but Texas is one of few states that prohibit outright any open carry of guns (GRIEDER). The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution states a well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. The people who support the open carry law point out that bans on gun are against the Second Amendment, which established the right for every citizen to keep and bear arms. The National Rifle Association (NRA), the powerful lobby against gun control, believes that human will still use their gun responsibly if there is no law (National Rifle...); however, the people who do not support open carry argue that gun control can decrease the risk of crime and also stop the potential to serial shooters to occur. Cerebral Isolation Using Word Processing Cerebral Isolation Using Word Processing Bianca Barreto Texas Tech University Abstract In general, the brain is thought to be lateralized with the two hemispheres having control of the opposite side of the body and their own functionalities. In this case, the left hemisphere dominates in language and verbal capabilities controlling the right side of the body including the right visual field . Using this fact and the difference in visual fields, subjects were asked to focus on a flashing screen with a pulsating plus sign. Vertically oriented words would flash on either the left or right side of the plus sign in order to isolate individual hemispheres. The time to correctly identify the words was recorded and compared between the left and right visual fields as well as between males and females. In this case, there was a significant difference between visual fields with the right side being significantly faster at processing words. In addition, males showed greater differences between visual fields when compared to females. These findings suggest that the right hemisphere is more selective in word processing and that males are more lateralized than females. Cerebral Isolation Using Word Processing Insufficient information is known about how words are processed by the brain. There are several major courts that make up the Knossos palace; these include the large, rectangular Central Court, the West Court, the West and East Wings, the theater, royal chambers, shrines and the Throne Room. Like most Minoan buildings the Central Court seems to be the main focus of the building. Stone was the primary building material, but also included a timber frame for flexibility. Mortar linked the stones together and wood was used for all the columns, doors, windows and roofs. The interior walls were plastered with clay and often had bright frescoes painted on them. The floors were generally beaten down earth, but sometimes had small pebbles stuck into them. Lighting and ventilation was primarily utilized through light wells, vertical airshafts that ran the full height of the buildings.
