1905 Revolution Essay
1905 Revolution These days we call anything a revolution… [1] To decide whether or not any event is
a revolution I must first set some parameters to define my personal idea of what a revolution is. I
believe a revolution to be a radical change of anything, not just political. I believe this as from history
labelling the Renaissance as a revolution, yet it lacked political change. In my opinion hindsight is
very important to whether or not something is a revolution. I think you can only decide if something
was revolutionary if you can see its consequences. I do not think revolutionary thought is essential to
whether or not an event is a revolution. To discover whether or not 1905 was a ... Show more content

This resulted in a generalised feeling of resentment towards the Tsar even amongst his supporters. The
political unrest was present through the survival of a poor Minister of the Interior, Viacheslav von
Plehve, until 1904 when he was assassinated. This was the Tsar s chance to quell the political unrest.
He chose a new minister in Prince Sviatopolk Mirskii. However, he had political innocence [3] and
promised vague reform. Basically he was weak and this weakness annoyed both wings of the political
spectrum sustaining the political unrest throughout 1905. Economical unrest is best shown through the
peasants. They were heavy under the weight of redemption payments and oppressive taxes and their
economic unrest was definitely evident preceding 1905, and throughout 1905 they vented their anger.
The ferment in the countryside grew in a menacing way [4], is a good quote describing their
movements as the word menacing seems to suggest they were very dangerous and seems to have
connotations supporting the large numbers that there were. The word ferment supports the fact it
peasant unrest had been building up. One major achievement I can see from the peasant uprisings was
that they were organised by themselves, demonstrating their own political thought and this was
cemented in July of the year when the

Analysis Of Social Service Work Values
One of the social service work values required in this situation includes, service to humanity
(Ramsarran, 2015, p. 3). Referencing the text on the values and ethnics of social service work
provided during first semester, service to humanity focuses on upholding service in the interest of
others consistent with social justice (Ramsarran, 2015, p. 3). It explores balancing one s own needs
with the collective needs of the people (Ramsarran, 2015, p. 3). Furthermore, it involves acting in a
professional capacity, placing professional service before personal goals or advantage (Ramsarran,
2015, p. 3). The above is relevant to my situation in that I balanced my own needs with that of the

What Is The Main Point Of The Return Of Martin Guerre
The Return of Martin Guerre by Natalie Davis a return that some may say focuses a little too much on
the touch of the and skewers into a romance and that would be the perspective of Robert Finlay.
Although Finlay does bring up some very key and valid points about The Return of Martin Guerre but
I do feel that Davis over all in both of her argument best describes what would happen. Starters Davis
is right in saying that Bertrande knew that the 1st Martin that arrived was not her husband. When she
saw him she, however she recoiled in surprise. Not until he had spoken to her affectionately,
reminding her of things they had done in and talked about, specifically mentioning the white hosen in
the trunk, did she fall upon his neck and kiss him; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Well obviously Bertrande and Arnaud du Tilh had intercourse since they conceived a child. Even that
proverb is not uniquely pertinent, for, in the conditions of sexual intercourse in peasant households of
preindustrial Europe the couple clothed, in the darkened house, amid the cold and dirt, surrounded by
livestock and relatives any wife of Artigat might equally well have regarded her bedmate with the
jaded perspective expressed in the notorious masculine slur, De nuit tous chats son gris. (Robert
Finlay pg559) I have a difficult time with some of this because if this where all to be true which I m
sure he is exaggerating a little bit I bet a donkey wasn t sharing the bet with them. I do bet they
probably had dirt floors and it probably was a little cold but that doesn t exclude her from knowing
that he was not her husband because every person is different granted she hasn t been with her real
husband in a very long time but I m pretty sure she would know the touch of a man. I am for sure
going to have to agree with Davis on this you get older but your connection as husband and wife
doesn t change that s what I think Davis is really trying to point out in the book is that as husband and
wife even if it where only a few times together they would still remember those the rest of there lives.
Finley goes out and says at night all cats are gray meaning that they really would have know idea who
one would be with as long as it s dark you

The Book Thief Chapter Summaries
Chapter 1
The book starts off with Liesel, aka the book thief, on a train traveling to Munich with her brother
named Werner and their mother. But on the way there the train stops working and Werner ends up
dying, but while he is being buried Liesel takes a book from one of the gravediggers. After getting on
another train they get to Munich where Liesel is giving away to foster care. She really doesn t want to
leave but she knows that it s for the best that she leaves her mother and go into foster care.
Chapter 2
In the second chapter of the book, Liesel starts to really get used to her new life and new foster
parents. She also figures out that the person responsible for the deaths in her family was Hitler the
person she was dreaming ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Liesel and Rudy also decide to go out to the mayor s house to steal again. But he really doesn t know
that Ilsa keeps her windows unlocked on purpose so she can steal the books.
Chapter 7
In this chapter, Hans starts to regret helping another Jew, especially one where they pretty much know
that he is going to die soon based on his health. He feels as though helping him brought even more of
a risk than taking Max in. Then Ilsa kind of forgives Liesel for her outburst towards her and want to
encourage her to continue reading. Also in this chapter, Liesel starts to figure out the power that words
can have on others. Hans also kicks Max out of the house because he doesn t want to hurt the family
any more than he feels he already has.
Chapter 8
In this chapter of the book, the Nazi soldiers are trying to convince Rudy s parents to let him join a
special military school. When he had won all them medals at Hitler s carnival he showed everyone his
skills but they refused to let them take him. Afterward, Hans and Rudy s dad is drafted into the Army
and is forced to leave but he knows he is even lucky to be alive after being caught helping a jew. Ilsa
gives Liesel the present that Max made her a book and she reads it over and over

Cholera Outbreak In Grand Anse
Cholera is a small intestine infection caused by the bacteria Vibrio cholera (Finkelstein, 1996). It
affects 3 to 5 million people worldwide, and as of 2010 causes 58,000 to 130,000 deaths a year
(Lozano et al., 2012). Water filtering and chlorination have removed the threat of cholera in Europe
and North America, however, it still affects some developing countries, like Haiti. The department of
Grand Anse in Haiti has been experiencing a cholera epidemic since October 2010; the worst one in
recent history (CDC, 2016). Grand Anse never had a cholera outbreak in recorded history until after
the 2010 earthquake (BBC News, 2010). The earthquake occurred on January 12, 2010, and the
outbreak began in October 2010. Waste from the outhouses used ... Show more content on

My assumption is that vaccinating at least 50 percent of Grand Anse s population against cholera will
decrease the spread and prevalence of the disease and eventually lead to the resistance of the spread
within the population through herd immunity. Vaccination with ShanChol can provide herd immunity
for up to 5 years (Pape Rouzier, 2014). A study published in PLoS Medicine concluded that of 50
percent of a population receive a cholera vaccine, this will protect 93 percent of the overall population
(von Seidlein, 2007). Therefore, I will consider the amount of vaccination to be sufficient if 50 percent
of Grand Anse s population is vaccinated during the intervention. However, I will aim to vaccinated as
much of the population as possible. I would like to achieve 50 percent vaccination within 5 years after
the implementation of the

Rabies Is The Virus And Disease, As Well As Information On...
Purpose
This report will educate the reader on rabies in canines (dogs). It will give the reader a basic
understanding of the virus and disease, as well as information on prevention and treatment.
Background
Rabies is thought to be an endemic in the Arctic, Northern Canada and former regions of the Soviet
Union (NUNAVUT REF). Rabies is a zoonotic, neuro invasive disease caused by the Rabies
Rhabdovirus Lyssavirus (Merck Veterinary Manual, 2015). The risk of being exposed to rabies is
dependent on a variety of factors, including where an animal goes and what wildlife it comes in
contact with (VET BRIEF REF). The most commonly affected domestic mammals includes dogs,
cattle and cats. The most commonly affected wildlife affected includes foxes, skunks, bats and
raccoons (Merck Veterinary Manual, 2015). If the dog becomes infected, the virus attacks the brain.
This leads to the brain becoming inflamed and then beginning to deteriorate. The deterioration causes
the brain to not function properly, leading to the animal acting abnormal. The abnormal behaviour
results in a variety of signs and symptoms, including aggression (Remedy Health Media, 2016).
Rabies is a federally reportable disease, including all suspect cases. All reports are investigated by the
Canadian Food Inspection Agency, in a verified rabies laboratory (Government of Canada, 2016).
Rabies is an incredibly important disease for Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs) to be aware of,
as it is a common concern

Animals Rights For Animals In Captivity
Animals cages in captivity is sufficient for an animals to have the freedom that it need. Animals only
have to be placed in sufficient cages that meet certain regulations in disregards to the animals needs
(Blanchard 93). Many animals are not given the luxury of roaming free but are subjected to a space
not qualified for their needs.
Natural instincts are a key part of an animal s everyday life. Without being in the wild animals are
deprived of their ability to express their natural instincts as they would in the wild. Animals have the
natural instinct to hunt and being in a enclosed place their instincts become dormant (Kurtycz 2).

Character Foils In Vaclav And Lena
In the novel Vaclav and Lena, Haley Tanner employs the use of many character foils. Characters are
placed into similar roles and the behavior of one character accentuates the traits of another, more
major character. This is particularly prominent among the women who act as Lena s guardians. Two of
the most important women in Lena s life are Radoslava and Rasia. Radoslava Dvorakovskaya is an
elderly woman who Lena lives with when she is very young. Radoslava passes away and Lena moves
in with her aunt. In her new neighborhood, she meets a boy named Vaclav and his mother, Rasia, who
quickly becomes a guardian of Lena as well. Radoslava is a foil for Rasia because while both serve as
maternal figures for Lena, Radoslava s failures as a caring guardian highlight Rasia s devotion and
kindness.
Radoslava s self centeredness calls attention to Rasia s attentiveness. Radoslava s actions make it clear
that she considers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Radoslava is quick to yell at Lena, saying, Yelena! I am old and I am dying, and you have ruined my
last years of peace (169). Radoslava blames Lena for everything and considers her to be a stain on her
life. Radoslava does not fulfill her role as a kind maternal figure in this case as she makes it very clear
that she does not want to be in this situation. On the other hand, Rasia and her son Vaclav enjoys
helping Lena and consider it a blessing rather than a burden. They are more than willing to meet Lena
and become acquainted with her, both of them knowing that they were doing something nice (68).
Rasia and Vaclav find pleasure in knowing that they are doing a good deed. Unlike Radoslava, Rasia
is unconditionally caring. Radoslava only does things for her own good and the moment things get
difficult she immediately pushes the responsibility onto Lena. The way Radoslava treats Lena serves
as a harsh contrast to the way that Rasia willingly takes on the burden of acting like a mother for

Taxpayer Funding For Abortion Insurance
Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance
Recently, the S.184 No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act of
2017 was read and referred to the Committee on Finance. With the newly elected President Donald
Trump in office, adjustments have begun to take place on the front end of abortion and what these
procedures and the insurance that covers them will look like going forward. The previously mentioned
bill would permanently prohibit federal funding, including District of Columbia funds, for abortion or
healthcare that includes abortion (Congress Wicker, 2017). The bill will amend the Internal Revenue

Aside from the safe assumption that Americans especially those whom appose abortion don t want to
be funding abortions through their tax dollars, the efficiency of this bill would cover the loopholes that
may have been created by prior acts (Harned, 2015). The modifications this bill would bring about are
going to conserve the time in the future for other pressing issues that would otherwise be spent on an
issue that manages to be discussed redundantly.
The Severity of Abortion and its Role in the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act
Abortion is a one day procedure that can have important lifetime consequences. There is potential for
procedure failure as well as physical, emotional, or mental suffering, which is why there is a need for
some form of deterrence. In the hearing before the Subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice
of the committee on the Judiciary, House of Representatives, One Hundred Thirteenth Congress, it
was stated that this bill would restrict tax deductions for women who use their own money for
abortion or if they purchase insurance that covers abortion, in turn this will raise the tax for women
should they choose to make that decision (House of Representatives. Subcommittee on the
Constitution and Civil Justice. Committee on the Judiciary, 2014). This sort of disincentive would
ultimately make abortions more costly and may deter women from

Francesco Petrarch a great poet and best know as the founder for Humanism in 1341 reconciled
Christianity and classical and Roman Greek thought in his writings and revived interest in what had
been dismissed as the pagan past starting the period called the RENAISSANCE or rebirth .
The state of focusing less on God´s interest and more on human s interest was called the Humanism.
Renaissance art was based on renewed study of the art of antiquity and of nature (Giorgio Vasari,
Lives of the Artists (1550).)

Pablo Picasso And Zaha Hadid
Ever wonder what opposition to cultural trends can lead someone? Ever question what kind of success
can erupt from dislocating and distorting one s work into a brand unique to no one but yourself? Pablo
Picasso and Zaha Hadid were two of the most successful artists within the modernist movement. Both
Picasso and Hadid laid the foundation to their success with a strong educational background. While
each artist knew that their sheer talent and works would not contribute to their succession alone.
Picasso and Hadid sought the importance of defining one s brand on a global scale. Building a

With this ability, Picasso seized this opportunity of adaptation, and thus expanded his clientele. By
tailoring his works to the customer s wants and needs, Picasso experimented with new styles of art to
satisfy such needs of dealers and collectors. This came to fruition when Picasso gained one of his
earliest patrons and close friend, Gertrude Stein. Picasso s relationship with Stein developed when
Stein moved to Paris with her brother where she hoped to pursue and art career. With the acquisition
of a Matisse and Picasso s own Young Girl with a Basket of Flowers. This contribution to her
collection of Cubism, may not have been the largest towards Picasso, this greatly increased Picasso s
ability to network as well as brand himself. Picasso understood the importance of branding and
marketing. The connection between consumer and brand, the importance of the media, and the
publicity that surrounded one s story, was the key to laying the foundation of Pablo s success. By
selling his works at the epicenter of Impressionism or Post Impressionism of art, dealers sought
potential investment opportunities in Paris. It was not until roughly 1914 that Picasso gained notable
recognition. By presenting his artwork at the International Exhibition of Modern Art (The Armory

How To Write A Nonfiction Book A Night To Remember
Introduction
A nonfiction book A Night to Remember was wrote in 1955 by Walter Lord that consist of ten
chapters of a true minute by minute story sinking of the most glamorous ship in the world. It is the
legendary tragedy of the world biggest ever ship of the White Star Line called Titanic. The every
moment happened of her maiden voyage that night are summed up below.
Summary
During 11:40 P.M. on Sunday, the 14th day of April, 1912, the New White Star Liner Titanic hit an
iceberg in the North Atlantic. Lookout Frederick Fleet warned about the iceberg getting larger and
closer to the other line of the ship at the bridge but they are not alarmed because the ship was labelled

cold and they died. Some fought like a wild animals and some gave their lives to others. Some was
dressed like woman to save even the last breath of their live. And the last boat, Collapsible D was
lowered and the last rockets fired to seek help and the last wireless signals as well. The maiden
voyage, titanic, with some of the third class passengers was gone down about 2:00A.M., the 15th day
of April, 1912. Finally, the rocket of Carpathian was sighted by boats about 3:30A.M. of April
15,1912 and they picked up the first boat No. 2 until the last boat No. 12 heads for New York with 705
survivors.
Conclusion
This book written by Walter Lord reminds us about the legendary disaster about the ship, Titanic. It
can be a relieved to those who survived and can be never forget of many who did not. In conclusion, I
was amazed of the facts present in the book that gathered from the survivors. The survivors have two
qualities in common: being spectacular and wonderfully thoughtful. They were at their most generous

Benefits Of Space Exploration
Billions of dollars is used every year by the world s space exploration program. But does this benefit
us at all? Good morning 8 romero and mr mcgowan today i will be talking about how space
exploration is a waste of money. Why do we need to waste our money to find out if there is water on
Mars or not? We could be spending all that money on beneficial things like finding a cure for cancer
or feeding the starving millions around the globe, the needs of humanity should always be our first
priority so I strongly agree that space exploration is a waste of money. In this essay, I will be stating
why space exploration gives us no direct benefit, that the earth s problems have not yet been fully

As I have mentioned earlier, we should be spending our money on things that will help us here on
earth, what are a few pictures of our planet going to do? With 18 billion dollars we could be finding a
cure for cancer, feeding the starving millions around the world and we could be building Children s
hospitals in poor areas so the poor can afford to take their suffering children to a doctor, we could do
all these things but NASA would rather waste all this money for some pretty pictures of our planet.
Some would say that I m over exaggerating and that NASA has actually given us something beneficial
like finding more planets. But tell me, is one planet that NASA found going to help find a cure for
cancer? This is why I think that humanity s needs on earth should be our first priority and not some
pretty pictures of our planet above. The earth s problems have not yet been fully taken care of, so why
should we go roaming around other planets when we have problems down here on earth. There are
many major crises going on at our own planet, two of which include global warming and the
worldwide economic crisis. If the government does not take care of the economic crisis with care then
we will all end up poor. How can we take care of global warming, economic crisis and take care of
really expensive space travel? Space travel is an unwanted business right now and we shouldn t be
spending so much money on something so unbeneficial. Right now

Essay about Dante’s Version of Hell
In Dante s Inferno, we followed Dante as he narrates his decent and observations of hell. A wonderful
part of that depiction is his descriptions of the creative yet cruel punishments that each of the different
sinners receive. This story is an integral part of literary history, and even if I were to have the
imagination and ability of Dante Alighieri, I don t believe I would change this tried and true version
known universally.
Since I have the desire to maintain the validity of Dante s version of hell in its entirety, I will explain
the parts I found most intriguing, and why.
His use of incredible and descript wording was impressive. Dante narrates the vile stench in which
groups of men were chained to the hard floors, and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sometimes, the guards would throw a bucket of water over the stones to cleanse them; there were
however, prisoners underneath the other prisoners and the water would wash all of the excrement and
bodily fluids down through grates and drip onto the bodies of the standing prisoners who dare not lie
down and could not stand up because of the vile filth on them and around their feet (Cantor). These
are only a few descriptions of the various practices of cruelty.
The first sin that Dante describes is heresy. The penalty in the medieval era for heresy was often
public humiliation, imprisonment or to suffer death by burning. (Cantor). The punishment for the arch
heretics and those who followed them was that they be ensepulchered and to have some heated more,
some less. (Alighieri). These red hot sepulchers served as a punishment for the heretics, causing burns.
The archheretics firmly believed that everything died with the body therefore there was no soul. So,
they were punished with the hot and crowded pokers, but they were also punished with their beliefs
and they were allowed to feel what it s like to die eternally and lie and wait until the apocalypse. This
punishment is one in that was more focused on inflicting a physical and bodily pain rather than a
mental one.
Another sin whose punishment was administered with the full intention of causing great harm was
flattery.

s self development. The child has this inner urge to undertake the task in order to live. Although, once
this period passes it is possible for the child to learn the new skill but with much more difficulty. A
sensitive period that is prevented from occurring will manifest itself into a cranky child.
The three main sensitive periods for children aged birth to six are, order, movement and language.

But freedom within limits, not the right to do whatever you want, whenever you want. Freedom needs
to work within the grounds of discipline. Discipline is making correct choices while respecting the
classroom, and the rights of the other children.
In my experience, Marie is consistent at all times while teaching but kind and caring at the same time.
She set clear expectations very early on in the school year and this is evident through the respect the
children show her and the order that upholds in the classroom.
The expectations included; * Children are given the freedom to move, to communicate, to choose
activity and to work with others. * Children must not disrespect the materials. The materials must only
be used for the purpose intended. * Children can only choose what he/she has been presented. * If the
child cannot use a specific piece of material, it is removed and re presented or, a period of time is
given to allow the child s development.
REFER TO MATERIALS AND ACTIVITIES IN THE CLASSROOM
Referring to materials and activities in the Montessori classroom, it is fair to say that the Practical Life
and Sensorial shelves all stimulate the child s sense of order. The Practical Life shelf consists of the
dressing frames, which allows the child to understand the importance of sequence in tasks. The

Before Sunrise and Before Sunset
The films Before Sunrise and Before Sunset are said to represent the so called slacker genre. Slackers
are individuals in society who have no direction and no reasonable expectation or realistic goals in
life. This term is mainly used with Generation X ers (people born between 1961 and 1981) (Casto,
What s A Slacker Movie? ). Slacker movies are films that deal with the ordinary day to day life of
these people. In Before Sunrise and Before Sunset the characters sense of wandering and the feel of
aimlessness is what make them qualify as slacker films. It is a different story telling, not the classical
Hollywood story where boy meets girl, falls in love and lives happily ever after but a real story with
perhaps no happy ending or no ending ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The difference is that nine years earlier, they were a twenty something couple both single, which
represented the Generation X, people who grew up in the me generation of the [1970s and] 1980s and
now recognize that it was not all that it was cracked up to be (Jochim, Generation X defies definition
). Nine years later, and in their thirties and both attached to other people, they realize that they are
constrained by the choices they have made and that getting older means no longer having the chance
to realize ones potential through their free choice (Wartenberg, Before Sunset | Philosophy Now ). At
the end of the film Before Sunset Céline and Jesse are in her apartment listening to music and she
begins to dance reminding him about his flight. The camera turns to Jesse where he is seen twirling his
wedding ring on his finger. As a viewer the twirling of the wedding ring is representing the uncertainty
about his happiness in his marriage. This situation is very much relatable to the audience as divorce
and the struggle of marriage has become a common occurrence in today s society. Both the films
Before Sunrise and Before Sunset are about Céline s and Jesse s relationship and their mutual interest
in conversation. They spend a lot of time talking about their feelings yet never sincerely act upon
them. The films can relate to the

available fresh water for human utilization is hardly 0.3 to 0.5 % of the total water (2.4%) available on
earth and thus it is important to use it wisely. The most important and potable source of water is river
water. Rivers are important fresh water resources and most developmental activities are dependent
upon them. The environment and economic stability, are highly impacted by quality of surface waters.
According to Halder and Islam (2015), unfortunately the water quality of rivers all around the world is
deteriorating due to increase in population, urbanization, Industrialization, evolving consumption
patterns, global climate change and various other factors. The continued anthropogenic activities have

What Is Five Factor Model Of Personality
The five factor model (FFM) of personality is a prominent model in psychology to study and
understand individual personality. It is based on believes that an individual s personality can be
defined by traits such as human behaviour, patterns of thought, which are stable across an individual s
lifespan. The FFM found that total number of personality traits can be classified into five broad factors
or domains. These are namely (1) Openness, (2) Conscientious, (3) Extraversion, (4) Agreeableness
and (5) Neuroticism. The detail description of each domain is reflected in Table 1 below. The FFM
determines that all other personality traits (sub traits or facets) can be classified under these five
domains. Domains Description (1) Openness Reflects curiosity, novelty, tendency to explore and

and Conscientiousness facet scales. In NEO PI R, participants are to respond to 240 items. Items are
on a 5 point Likert scale, with (1) strongly disagrees and (5) strongly agrees. The items measure six

Essay On Nikola Tesla
Nikola Tesla, noted inventor, engineer, machinist, and electrical pioneer was born in 1846 in what is
now modern Croatia. His parents had five children which included siblings Dane, Angelina, Milka and
Marica, in the family. His mother, Djuka Mandic, who invented small household appliances in her
spare time while her son was growing up, spurred Tesla s interest in electrical invention. Tesla s father,
Milutin Tesla, was a Serbian orthodox priest and a writer, and he pushed for his son to join the
priesthood. Very little else is recorded regarding his early childhood or primary education. It is
rumored, though, that the young Tesla was alternately cheerful and upbeat, or sullen and solitary. A
general theme in his life, though, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While both men went on to continue developing sensational inventions, Edison is the man most
credited in history books for his work. Tesla, on the other hand, was not an inventor seeking fame, but
one who simply had a peculiar and uncanny view on the world. He was known to have outbursts of
creative genius that led to days of non stop work, eventually resulting in his register(ing) over 700
patents worldwide. His most well known work revolved around the Alternating Current electrical
theories. While this stood in direct opposition to the corporately backed efforts of Edison to promote a
Direct Current network for electrical distribution, Tesla continued with the idea of transmitting
electricity through the air, and free to all people. Edison scoffed at the idea, but even the newest
research in the 21st century reveals that Tesla s notions are quite feasible. In the end, it is clear that his
early education at home, his formal education on record, and his work with Edison all contributed to
the foundation of Nikola Tesla s broad range of work.
The public perception of Tesla was quite positive during his productive years, even earning the
financial backing of J. Pierpont Morgan for a while . Tesla s disputes with Edison grew over the years,
though, eventually leading Tesla to abandon much of his work later in life, and he eventually died
penniless in 1943 while residing in a New York hotel. By all accounts, he was

The California Drought And The Proper Allocation Of Water...
The California Drought and the Proper Allocation of Water Resources
Intro:
The state of California is in the midst of a five year drought. The results of which are beginning to
reek havoc on the state s municipalities, farms and wetland habitats. If the state continues as is
supporting in thirsty agricultural industries, towns and cities at current levels, not only will this
exacerbate already tenuous water supply problem within the state it will have ripple affects throughout
the South West. Surrounding states will have to adopt even more stringent restriction for farms, cities
and industries which may have further calamitous economic results. However, the most difficult
questions like proper allocation or modifying water rights have yet to be answered and likely will not
be resolved before California s water situation worsens. Last April standing in front of a snowpack at
just 5% of normal levels, Governor Jerry Brown declared the drought in California has reached a crisis
level and instituted state wide water restriction for towns, cities and municipalities. He called for a
25% reduction of water usage by urging Californians flush less, take shorter showers, and let lawns
turn brown. Although agriculture accounts for roughly 80% (Northern California Water Association)
of all human consumption of water this industry was exempted any restriction by the governor. With a
drought which shows no sign of letting up, powerful farm and environmental lobbies, difficult to

Roy Lichtenstein Drowning Girl Essay
Critical Analysis Drowning Girl By Roy Lichtenstein (1963)
A Critical Art Analysis of Roy Lichtenstein s Drowning Girl (1963) Painting
Roy Lichtenstein s Drowning Girl is one of the most renowned pieces of art produced by the
American artist. The painting that was created by the artist in the year 1963 on a 67 5/8 x 66 3/4
canvas is contained in the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City, and is one of the most
viewed modernistic pieces of art in the museum (MoMA). The Drowning Girl painting depicts a
crying lady in an ocean wave, with a thought bubble used by the artist to depict the distress of the girl
through the words I don t care! I d rather sink than call Brad for help! More importantly, the piece of
art uses different principles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The message of heartbreak in the art is reflected in words contained in the thought bubble and the
tears which reveal that the girl in the picture might have been in a romantic relationship with a man
named Brad, who broke her heart. Even more clearly, the title Drowning girl, adds to the meaning of
the piece of art by suggesting to the viewer that the girl may be drowning in ocean waves. The
maneuver of a girl in distress in the painting further points to the deep interest of Roy Lichtenstein in
the pain that women go through after heartbreaks. Notably, evidence suggests that as a follower of
Picasso, Lichtenstein might have been inspired by the former s frequent use of images of crying
women to paint the Drowning Girl (Schneider 142). Overall, the use of ocean waves by the author
symbolizes distress, as well the vast amount of tears that the heartbreak might have induced which
arouse empathy in the viewer. Although the girl seems to lie in peace with her head on the water like a
pillow, the submergence of the rest of her body in water appears to communicate her dire need for
assistance. Thus, I would say that the piece of art reminds me of the importance of being considerate
of the feelings of fellow humans, especially for people in romantic

Camp David Accords Research Paper
In 1978, the Egyptian President Anwar El Sadat and the Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin
signed the Camp David Accords. The signing of the accords was followed by a formal peace treaty
between Israel and Egypt in March of 1979. Both the Israeli and Egyptian took significant risks and
while many parties seemed to favor the peace deal, there were still segments of the society which
either were skeptical or disapproved. Most notably, a group of Arab leaders known as the
Steadfastness Front attempted to oppose the deal and considered Sadat s actions as traitorous. (Central
Intelligence Agency) Sadat was also met with strong movements against him following the
announcement of the deal from his own people, and he was assassinated in 1981. Sadat risked much
on the possibility of peace between their people, a peace that has managed to persist to this day, ...

The history of modern Egypt begins with the decline of the Ottoman Empire and the interference of
the French and British in 1798. Following the British claim of South Africa, a move designed to stop
French access to East Asia, Napoleon was directed to take control of Egypt with the intention of
building a canal to circumvent British South Africa. While the French conquest of Egypt was
unsuccessful, it did result in Muhammad Ali s assignment by the Ottoman Sultan to the region. Ali
established himself and over the course of the early 1800s managed to carve out a significant standing
in Egypt and implemented many reforms that helped to push Egypt ahead of much of the Ottoman
Empire as the Suez Canal brought money and western influence into the region. By 1882, the British
had taken control of Egypt from the Ottomans, with their focus on protecting the canal. However,
rising Arab nationalism prompted the British to grant independence in 1922 establishing the Kingdom
of Egypt which existed until

Dog Parks Benefits
I strongly agree a dog parks benefits all. I think that every state should have a dog park. Dogs need to
exercise. You cant walk your dog without a leash in public areas. Plus it would raise property values.
If a dog doesnt exercise it becomes lazy. The dog can also become unhealthy. Most of the time dogs
can t just run around any where they want. If they had a park then no one would have to worry about
the dangers of someone being bitten. If dogs are always house bond it can cause bad behavior. It can
even cause for the dog to attack the owner. Which does nt sound like a good thing.
If I were a dog owner i would nt want my dog on the leash all the time. I would feel like I was tryna

Activity One: Reflections on My Performance Appraisal
From my personal perspective, the participation of the work involved a reconsideration of my own
identity and purpose, and the classification through of the different dimensions of my life. The key
determination of setting personal objectives and defining one s outcomes is the personality and self

Posttructitalism And Postcolonialism
Although theory may have a reputation for being disconnected from reality, it is grounded in everyday
thinking that helps us plan and understand the actions we take in our everyday social lives (Sears,
2010, pp. 16 17). Accordingly, theories like poststructuralism attempt to explain these aspects of
human society. In this paper, after explaining the origins and major tenets of poststructuralism, I will
argue that a poststructural lens is most conducive to a critical analysis of the causes and effects of
oppression. I will demonstrate this by discussing how discourses produce and maintain power
relations, how the effects of these oppressive relations are channeled through a complex network of
power, and how deconstruction offers pathways for challenging oppression. Poststructuralism
Poststructuralism is derived from the theoretical work of Ferdinand de Saussure, a structural linguist
who argued that language does not simply reflect reality, but constructs the things it describes (Healy,
2005, p. 197). Poststructuralism differs from other postmodernist theories in that it is primarily
concerned with the influence of language on power, knowledge and identity (Healy, 2005, p. 197). In
contrast, postmodernism is moreover concerned with rejecting modernist truths, such as rationality
being the way to progress (Healy, 2005, p. 197). Yet another post theory, postcolonialism is focused on
interrogating and responding to the legacies of European colonization (Healy, 2005, p. 198).

Social Work s core philosophy and values are centered around social justice and social well being.
Oppression, injustice, discrimination, and violence are antithetical to the social work profession.
Social Work believes in strength based approaches and the person in environment perspective to cater

the target populations for social work are vulnerable, marginalized, and oppressed people; however,
social workers provide services to people with a wide range of problems, such as poverty, addiction,

Several decades after the Civil Right Acts of 1964 were passed, we still hear the slogans of Black lives
matter and All lives matter. According to the NASW Code of Ethics (1996), social workers should be
sensitive to cultural and ethnic diversity and strive to end discrimination, oppression, poverty, and
other forms of social injustice (p. 3). Social workers and the profession as a whole should address
problems related to minority groups to make our society equitable, just, and responsive to social
justice. As a measure of this ethical standard, the content of the major journal of NASW (National
Association of Social Work), Social Work, should reflect studies conducted by researchers on minority
groups and their problems, which this study intends to analyze. Additionally, Council on Social Work
Education has required social work schools to maintain cultural diversity in students enrollment,
hiring of faculty, and the development of curricula (Trolander, 1997), but how well this diversity is
reflected in research studies is a matter of exploration, which this study has tried to address by doing
the content analysis of the most prestigious social work journal, Social

Ancient Era Vs Renaissance Era
Great discussion post this week! You have chosen some great artifacts from each era. All are great
advanced designs for each era and truly fascinating to look at as well. Between the Saqqara Bird, The
Morgan Crusader Bible, and The Gutenberg Press you can see each era s culture through the artifacts
and how they do all differ. It is funny to notice though that the Ancient Era and the Renaissance Era
artifacts that you have chosen are both made out of wood. Even though these periods are during two
different times, wood was still used and carved for both artifacts. This was something I just thought
when looking at the images you have provided. I also wanted to mention that the artifact you have
chosen for the Ancient Era is similar to what I have chosen as well. I chose the Shabti dolls, which is
similar to the artifact you have chosen, although the Saqqara Bird s purpose is still not really known.
Anyway, there are many differences between all three artifacts. All three are beautifully crafted, but in
three different and unique ways for each era. The Saqqara Bird is smoothly crafted and rather simple
where the Bible and printing press from the other two eras are more detailed and elaborate. You can
see the changes in time through the artifacts and the skills and culture through each. The printing press
is a huge advancement and just goes to show you the culture during this time period. The bird and the
Bible also show the spirituality and faith and even religion of each era, while the printing press does
not. The manuscript that you have selected is also made and written by hand in this era and the
printing press in the next era shows how all that can now be done by machine. All three artifacts are
created differently because of the changes in each time frame. You can see how the artifacts advance
and how the cultures have evolved as well and what was really important during each era. It seems
like in the ancient era the afterlife was a huge concern and belief for these people, while during the
middle era it has more of a focus on religion and sharing that, while in the Renaissance era it was
more focused on advancements and production created from the printing press. Contemporary human
creative expression can

Steven Spielberg s Classic Saving Private Ryan
A film genre is a motion picture category based on similarities in either the narrative elements or the
emotional response to the film. While films have at least one major genre, there are a number of films
that are considered crossbreeds or hybrids with three or four coinciding genre or sub genre types that
they can be identified with them and most can be filed into categories that are easily recognizable to
audiences (Goodykoontz Jacobs, 1998, p. 4.1). However, ever so seldom a film comes along that
breaks free of its invisible bounds of genre and it leaves the audiences confused about the actual
existence of genre. One such film is a film that most are familiar with Steven Spielberg s classic
Saving Private Ryan. Saving Private Ryan will always be remembered among the best war movies
ever made. It does what every prodigious war movie should, it takes a realistic look at war and shows
us the horrific side of war intelligently. The plot is marvelously original; eight men are sent behind
enemy lines to rescue one soldier, Private Ryan (Matt Damon). Ryan is the only remaining son in his
family; his three brothers have all died in action recently. Gen. George Marshall is so touched by Mrs.
Ryan s dilemma, who unfortunately learns of the deaths of her three sons on the same day, and orders
that her only remaining heir, Ryan, be returned home immediately. The holdup to the plan is that Ryan
parachuted into Normandy on D Day, and the Army has no idea where Ryan is or if he is

Milk Carton Kids Case Study
Milk Carton Kids In 1982 a family owned company (Anderson Erickson dairy) were the 1st once to
put the side panels on a milk carton for missing children. This was never been done, therefore the
society was shocked as if it was Black Tuesday of 1929, because they never faced such a complication
before. This ides was an inspiration for the society to work together and fathom the tragedy that
happened. Which also force the police to deploy new tactics in a desperate attempt to find the missing
children. Many other companies like Coco cola started printing guile flyers with safety tips to teach
children, a toy store chain named Kaybee ran TV commercials to urge prevention through education.
Pizza boxes, utility bills and grocery bags also encrypted this. Other dairy companies throughout the
country also started sailing their milk cartons with missing children pictures on them, the awareness
was spreading like a catalysed chemical reaction. These images on the milk cartons became iconic, a
kind of cultural shorthand for missing children said reporter Andy Brawn. Most of these dairy
companies were working in collaboration with the police department of the city. More than 6 million
cartons were flooded with images and details of missing children from around the country. This ...

The Educational Value Of Virtual Reality
I Have a Question! : The Educational Value of Virtual Reality Since the 1950 s, virtual reality (VR)
has been hovering on the periphery of technology without achieving accepted mainstream application
or commercial adoption. However, that is beginning to change and virtual reality has become a
popular topic within the latest technological headlines. According to TechCrunch, VR startups have
raised more than $1.46 billion in venture capital, and people believe that this is the year that VR will
finally take off. Virtual reality provides an escape from reality through a portal to an alternate reality
with a landscape that feels realistic. As VR becomes more popular, some educators and employers are
looking to incorporate VR as a primary teaching tool due to its widespread and numerous uses.
However, while virtual reality may seem like a beneficial educational tool, problems will inevitably
arise from the development and implementation of VR in education, and a middle ground will need to
be discovered.
While statistics on VR use in K 12 schools and colleges have yet to be gathered, the steady growth of
the market is reflected in the surge of companies solely dedicated to providing K 12 schools with
packaged educational curriculum, content, teacher training and technological tools to support VR
based instruction in classrooms around the world. However, this is not the first time that this concept
had existed. On one hand, it is important to keep in mind that there are

Analysis Of Dream A Little Dream Of Me
First recorded in 1931 by Oswald George Nelson, known as Ozzie Nelson, with his orchestra, Dream
a Little Dream of Me came into existence. Two days later, after Ozzie Nelson had recorded Dream a
Little Dream of Me , the song was again recorded on February 18, 1931 by orchestra leader and
musician Wayne King. Since those first two recordings of Dream a Little Dream of Me there have
been approximately 60 versions by many well known artists of which included Mama Cass Elliot in
1968 with the group The Mama s and The Papa s.
The Music:
Dream a Little Dream of Me is a classic song that has stood the test of time in popularity from 1931 to
2017. Over the course of eighty six years, Dream a Little Dream of Me has been recorded and released
by many well known artists including Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Doris Day and Cass Elliot.
Lyrics by Gus Kahn and the music was composed by Fabian Andre and Wilbur Schwandt. All of the
renditions of the song Dream a Little Dream of Me are different in their own way with different styles
and tempos. In this paper my focus will be on the recording by Cass Elliot in 1968. Based upon the
www.npr.org website, Dream a Little Dream of Me sold nearly seven million copies almost 40 years
after the music was composed by two relatively unknown musicians, Fabian Andre and Wilbur
Schwandt.

I believe a revolution to be a radical change of anything, not just political. I believe this as from history labelling the Renaissance as a revolution, yet it lacked political change. In my opinion hindsight is very important to whether or not something is a revolution. I think you can only decide if something was revolutionary if you can see its consequences. I do not think revolutionary thought is essential to whether or not an event is a revolution. To discover whether or not 1905 was a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This resulted in a generalised feeling of resentment towards the Tsar even amongst his supporters. The political unrest was present through the survival of a poor Minister of the Interior, Viacheslav von Plehve, until 1904 when he was assassinated. This was the Tsar s chance to quell the political unrest. He chose a new minister in Prince Sviatopolk Mirskii. However, he had political innocence [3] and promised vague reform. Basically he was weak and this weakness annoyed both wings of the political spectrum sustaining the political unrest throughout 1905. Economical unrest is best shown through the peasants. They were heavy under the weight of redemption payments and oppressive taxes and their economic unrest was definitely evident preceding 1905, and throughout 1905 they vented their anger. The ferment in the countryside grew in a menacing way [4], is a good quote describing their movements as the word menacing seems to suggest they were very dangerous and seems to have connotations supporting the large numbers that there were. The word ferment supports the fact it peasant unrest had been building up. One major achievement I can see from the peasant uprisings was that they were organised by themselves, demonstrating their own political thought and this was cemented in July of the year when the ... What Is The Main Point Of The Return Of Martin Guerre The Return of Martin Guerre by Natalie Davis a return that some may say focuses a little too much on the touch of the and skewers into a romance and that would be the perspective of Robert Finlay. Although Finlay does bring up some very key and valid points about The Return of Martin Guerre but I do feel that Davis over all in both of her argument best describes what would happen. Starters Davis is right in saying that Bertrande knew that the 1st Martin that arrived was not her husband. When she saw him she, however she recoiled in surprise. Even that proverb is not uniquely pertinent, for, in the conditions of sexual intercourse in peasant households of preindustrial Europe the couple clothed, in the darkened house, amid the cold and dirt, surrounded by livestock and relatives any wife of Artigat might equally well have regarded her bedmate with the jaded perspective expressed in the notorious masculine slur, De nuit tous chats son gris. (Robert Finlay pg559) I have a difficult time with some of this because if this where all to be true which I m sure he is exaggerating a little bit I bet a donkey wasn t sharing the bet with them. I do bet they probably had dirt floors and it probably was a little cold but that doesn t exclude her from knowing that he was not her husband because every person is different granted she hasn t been with her real husband in a very long time but I m pretty sure she would know the touch of a man. I am for sure going to have to agree with Davis on this you get older but your connection as husband and wife doesn t change that s what I think Davis is really trying to point out in the book is that as husband and wife even if it where only a few times together they would still remember those the rest of there lives. • 8. Rabies Is The Virus And Disease, As Well As Information On... Purpose This report will educate the reader on rabies in canines (dogs). It will give the reader a basic understanding of the virus and disease, as well as information on prevention and treatment. Background Rabies is thought to be an endemic in the Arctic, Northern Canada and former regions of the Soviet Union (NUNAVUT REF). Rabies is a zoonotic, neuro invasive disease caused by the Rabies Rhabdovirus Lyssavirus (Merck Veterinary Manual, 2015). The risk of being exposed to rabies is dependent on a variety of factors, including where an animal goes and what wildlife it comes in contact with (VET BRIEF REF). The most commonly affected domestic mammals includes dogs, cattle and cats. The most commonly affected wildlife affected includes foxes, skunks, bats and raccoons (Merck Veterinary Manual, 2015). If the dog becomes infected, the virus attacks the brain. This leads to the brain becoming inflamed and then beginning to deteriorate. The deterioration causes the brain to not function properly, leading to the animal acting abnormal. The abnormal behaviour results in a variety of signs and symptoms, including aggression (Remedy Health Media, 2016). Rabies is a federally reportable disease, including all suspect cases. All reports are investigated by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, in a verified rabies laboratory (Government of Canada, 2016). Rabies is an incredibly important disease for Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs) to be aware of, as it is a common concern ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The maneuver of a girl in distress in the painting further points to the deep interest of Roy Lichtenstein in the pain that women go through after heartbreaks. Notably, evidence suggests that as a follower of Picasso, Lichtenstein might have been inspired by the former s frequent use of images of crying women to paint the Drowning Girl (Schneider 142). The signing of the accords was followed by a formal peace treaty between Israel and Egypt in March of 1979. Both the Israeli and Egyptian took significant risks and while many parties seemed to favor the peace deal, there were still segments of the society which either were skeptical or disapproved. Most notably, a group of Arab leaders known as the Steadfastness Front attempted to oppose the deal and considered Sadat s actions as traitorous. The history of modern Egypt begins with the decline of the Ottoman Empire and the interference of the French and British in 1798. Following the British claim of South Africa, a move designed to stop French access to East Asia, Napoleon was directed to take control of Egypt with the intention of building a canal to circumvent British South Africa. While the French conquest of Egypt was unsuccessful, it did result in Muhammad Ali s assignment by the Ottoman Sultan to the region. Ali established himself and over the course of the early 1800s managed to carve out a significant standing in Egypt and implemented many reforms that helped to push Egypt ahead of much of the Ottoman Empire as the Suez Canal brought money and western influence into the region. • 37. Posttructitalism And Postcolonialism Although theory may have a reputation for being disconnected from reality, it is grounded in everyday thinking that helps us plan and understand the actions we take in our everyday social lives (Sears, 2010, pp. 16 17). Accordingly, theories like poststructuralism attempt to explain these aspects of human society. In this paper, after explaining the origins and major tenets of poststructuralism, I will argue that a poststructural lens is most conducive to a critical analysis of the causes and effects of oppression. I will demonstrate this by discussing how discourses produce and maintain power relations, how the effects of these oppressive relations are channeled through a complex network of power, and how deconstruction offers pathways for challenging oppression. Poststructuralism Poststructuralism is derived from the theoretical work of Ferdinand de Saussure, a structural linguist who argued that language does not simply reflect reality, but constructs the things it describes (Healy, 2005, p. 197). Poststructuralism differs from other postmodernist theories in that it is primarily concerned with the influence of language on power, knowledge and identity (Healy, 2005, p. 197). In contrast, postmodernism is moreover concerned with rejecting modernist truths, such as rationality being the way to progress (Healy, 2005, p. 197). Yet another post theory, postcolonialism is focused on interrogating and responding to the legacies of European colonization (Healy, 2005, p. 198). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 39. Ancient Era Vs Renaissance Era Great discussion post this week! You have chosen some great artifacts from each era. All are great advanced designs for each era and truly fascinating to look at as well. Between the Saqqara Bird, The Morgan Crusader Bible, and The Gutenberg Press you can see each era s culture through the artifacts and how they do all differ. It is funny to notice though that the Ancient Era and the Renaissance Era artifacts that you have chosen are both made out of wood. Even though these periods are during two different times, wood was still used and carved for both artifacts. This was something I just thought when looking at the images you have provided. I also wanted to mention that the artifact you have chosen for the Ancient Era is similar to what I have chosen as well. I chose the Shabti dolls, which is similar to the artifact you have chosen, although the Saqqara Bird s purpose is still not really known. Anyway, there are many differences between all three artifacts. All three are beautifully crafted, but in three different and unique ways for each era. The Saqqara Bird is smoothly crafted and rather simple where the Bible and printing press from the other two eras are more detailed and elaborate. You can see the changes in time through the artifacts and the skills and culture through each. The printing press is a huge advancement and just goes to show you the culture during this time period. The bird and the Bible also show the spirituality and faith and even religion of each era, while the printing press does not. The manuscript that you have selected is also made and written by hand in this era and the printing press in the next era shows how all that can now be done by machine. All three artifacts are created differently because of the changes in each time frame. You can see how the artifacts advance and how the cultures have evolved as well and what was really important during each era. It seems like in the ancient era the afterlife was a huge concern and belief for these people, while during the middle era it has more of a focus on religion and sharing that, while in the Renaissance era it was more focused on advancements and production created from the printing press. Contemporary human creative expression can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While films have at least one major genre, there are a number of films that are considered crossbreeds or hybrids with three or four coinciding genre or sub genre types that they can be identified with them and most can be filed into categories that are easily recognizable to audiences (Goodykoontz Jacobs, 1998, p. 4.1). However, ever so seldom a film comes along that breaks free of its invisible bounds of genre and it leaves the audiences confused about the actual existence of genre.
